Started my last hatch of the year a couple days ago. 67 quail eggs set, as I expect a mediocre hatch rate. I'm not sure if something's up with our incubators this year or what, but they haven't done very well. Don't need a ton of quail, but would like a nice group to have available come the end of swap season. Plus, I didn't get exactly what I wanted out of the last hatch, all my browns were roosters except for one, and she's on the smaller side for a jumbo, so I'm going to sell her.

Matcha (my chocolate slate turkey hen) came back today, and she REEKED of rotten eggs, so I assume whatever nest she was on is full of bad ones. I didn't even bother waiting to follow her back to the hidden nest. I locked her right up. She'd been missing for a little over a week. She's safe now, that's all that matters. She's one of my best turkeys, and I was afraid we'd lost her. I have all nine hens accounted for right now, so hopefully it'll stay that way.

we can FINALLY post our pieces for the @tohgrimoire zine!!! i wrote a fic about luz and her family visiting her father's grave. it's a tragic but healing time for all of them.

Scoria and Sakura are best friends! It's so cute when I see the things they do together, and it makes me so beyond happy that they both came to live with me so that they could share their lives with each other. They absolutely insist on it, and does so much good for the other.

I can't imagine how else they could have found happiness if things hadn't worked out exactly as they did. Scoria has basically been Sakura's "emotional support snake" while she worked through things from her past I'll never fully know that caused her a lot of issues with panic and fear. Sakura knows this too, and looks out for her sister, the only one she truly trusts and feels completely safe with.

The moment they wake up they both want each other to snuggle and play with. Scoria loves to be affectionate with both me and her sister who seems to have not had this earlier in her life- but Scoria is showing her how nice it is not only directly but demonstrating with me and Sakura also trying, copying what she has seen her sister do.

Sometimes when one goes to check on the other they'll join in on... I'm not even sure what they were doing. But they had a good time while taking a mandated union break from digging tunnels for the isopods.

So happy I get to share in the adventures of these two best friends! It makes me so happy to see them living their best lives together, and being beyond content snuggled together with their found family.

Whenever someone tries to make a point about something the Konoha kunoichis, I need to make a pause and remind them how out of character they were in some of those moments.

Kishimoto pretty much abandoned Sakura and Ino's friendship and then tried to bring it back during the War arc. Ino lost her sensei and then her dad, and when was Sakura? You mean to tell me she wouldn't care? About any of it? Or when Sasuke was declared to be killed, do you mean to tell me that Ino wouldn't have run to find Sakura?

The way Hinata was written on Shippuden???? Naruto aside, people forget that Hinata refused to give up during the Chunning Exams and forced Neji to almost kill her if he wanted the victory. She was stubborn, she was prideful too, she had more going on than simply a crush on Naruto. She was told by her father she was a failure and yet she didn't give up on becoming a kunoichi, did she?

Then why is that Shippuden wrote her like her sole ambition was Naruto, hm?

And Tenten? She was MEAN when she wanted to be because she was highly competitive. We know that she wanted to train under Tsunade, so where did the death of that dream take her? She's such a powerful kunoichi and yet we know so little about her personality, her life...

We got "Ino and Hinata know some medic min techniques" in the most random way possible... We know Sakura would walk around with Hinata even, so what about their girl bonding moments during the genin to Shippuden years?

It made me so angry whenever the girls treated each other like strangers in Shippuden. So many stupid situations made to highly their teammates even if I meant to write the girls out of character...

the superbowl vhs tape he brings her when she wakes up from her coma in one breath (and her deadpan "i knew there was a reason to live")

tickets for a football game to watch together in irresistible

bringing her flowers to the hospital in memento mori (he lies, saying he stole them from a guy with broken legs to make her laugh)

the birthday keychain in tempus fugit (and when she finds a meaning to it, he claims "i just thought it was a pretty cool keychain")

that is a man who is always thinking about her.

okay i need a letter to kit from ty now. i need to know ty's thoughts, his feelings about it all. we know so little of what it's like from ty's perspective. on kit telling him he wished he'd never met him. on being told i love you at the worst possible moment, on kit leaving, on magnus saying he didn't want to say goodbye to you. for all ty knew kit genuinely wanted to help him until the very last moment. “how long do you think it will take you to forgive me?” / “not now.” what does ty think it is kit's mad at him for? “kit—I thought that you—I thought that it would be—” ty's broken, halting words. because he really believed kit supported the idea. because he really believed it would work.

ty thought he could bring livvy back and it would fix everything but right when he thought it might work, the world dropped out from under him. the one thing he thought would fix everything turned out the be the worst thing he could've done. “you don’t yet understand the price. and I hope you never have to pay it.”

thinking of magnus telling him: “you think this feeling you have, of missing half of yourself, must be fixed. that it can’t be what everyone else is feeling when they lose someone. but it is.” and how he was right but also not quite. all the blackthorns lost livvy but ty really lost a part of himself, half of himself, his twin—the person who'd been by his side quite literally his entire life from the moment he was born. nothing comes close to that. and yeah i wonder what it's like from ty's side. we've seen kit's despair and his anger but we haven't really seen ty's.

AN INSPIRED DECLARATION, BARDIC COLLEGE OF FOCHLUCAN. I honestly thought my time as an artist had come to an end and all hope for further inspiration was gone. I come from months of fruitless research and abandoned music sheets, any spark of creativity flickering and dying by the time my fingers touched the strings. I was lost and couldn't find my way back home when suddenly, destiny came knocking at my door. Quite literally, I may add. I went to stay at my aunt's cottage outside of the city to see if some peace and quite would do my muse any good and I had the fortuitous chance of offering shelter to a group of weary travelers. They surely were a lively bunch and while I had fun entertaining guests after such a long time spent alone, Tymora's gentle hand came to save me under the guise of a young couple of most curious nature. A tiefling and a devil, by all means a nightmarish union if you were to give the rumors any credits and yet. They spent the night sitting quietly next to each other, letting the others take turns in keeping the conversation alive. I didn't mean to pry but I was mesmerized by the softness of their touches, the tenderness of their gaze. At some point during the night, the young man drifted off to sleep leaning against the girl's shoulder, she raised a hand to caress his scarred face with such unmistakable devotion it almost moved me to tears. It reminded me why I started composing in the first place: to wonder about the nature of simple things like love and companionship. If I ever see them again, I hope they'll know this song is for them.
