NEW FOOLS GOLD EPISODE IS OUT!!! WE DID IT!! HAZZAH! LIFE UPDATE I know my uploading schedule has slowly slowed down. As I’ve come to realize I’m a bit burnt out. I’ve been doing Fool’s Gold for almost 7 years now, STRAIGHT. I’ve only had 2 vacations and now it’s starting to bite me in the butt. I want to keep going but my brain and body need a bit of a break. I will be taking the rest of this year off to try and recharge. Along with in January- Feb, Felix and I are getting married! Meaning I have a lot to do to get that all planned. So expect ep. 37 to be a bit of a wait. I know it can be frustrating, but I do really appreciate all your patience with me and my process. I hope you all still enjoy things!

I have mixed feelings on how Qian Jin was used in s2. Bc on one hand, he was basically a Shakespearean villain which works with his backstory around plays. Probably a reference to Othello with him killing the wife he thought was cheating on him. His whole thing about “you need evidence to base your claims” and him supporting his points or avoiding the police using that logic. And the irony of it all is that he killed his wife based on assumptions with zero evidence. And it’s great from a tragic standpoint for the twins bc their father had done a similar thing. From one abusive coward to the next it’s a constant cycle. The tradeoff is that it makes him much less interesting. After the reveal of his true intentions, it’s like… you’re just a bitch.

And yeah you can get into his guilt for killing his unborn child as well. But that’s something he brought onto himself and is insistent on denying the truth.

Which to me is just…idk what to tell you bro.

And if he is a Shakespearean villain, Qian Jin should’ve been killed off. Commit to it y’know cuz he’s in jail doing nothing. Even if he breaks out in s3, LTC is gonna kill him and I don’t think even LX can convince him otherwise. Idk what his purpose to the plot would be? Personally, I would’ve liked if they left his story the way it appeared on the surface. As him simply being a victim of circumstance, slowly going insane from it, so he’s trying to save his wife. Because it could tie perfectly to Lu Guang at the last episode.

And you could argue (and be right) that LTC can serve as the LG comparison. But I think Qian Jin would’ve worked better. So I’m in this position where I get why they wrote him that way, it does work for the story, but it takes away the enjoyment of his character for me. And he is treated as the “final boss” in the last ep (before we meet LX). It makes the s2 finale not as climatic as I wanted it to be. This is really my only main complaint about s2 besides some nitpicks.

Overall I loved link click season 2 though. If you prefer season 1 that’s totally understandable and I do think it is a bit better. However if you thought s2 wasn’t a good season at all I think you’re tripping but that’s just me. Kinda glad I wasn’t there in September for the discourse especially around Lu Guang I would’ve fought some bitches. Hmm after watching ep 7, I’m not sure I want Kan and Thiu to end up together 😅😅 I can’t believe Kan severely injured then killed Boss so that Thiu doesn’t find out the truth about his mum. I’ve been empathetic towards Kan’s perspective about euthanasia but I feel killing Boss goes against his own view.

While I enjoyed the few sweet and domestic moments between Kan and Thiu, a relationship with a foundation of lies realistically won’t last. They’re both gonna be hurt, especially Thiu. I do hope Kan decides to tell Thiu the truth in ep 8 though. I didn’t read the novel and I’m wondering if Kan admitted the truth about Thiu’s mum to Thiu in the novel?

on a side note, I’ve been really impressed with JJ and Tor’s acting and have enjoyed their chemistry. I know this might be unlikely but I hope they pair up again in another series, preferably a rom-com so I don’t get stressed on a weekly basis 😂😂

Right!?!!??!??!1 I totally get you nonnie. I really hope you don't mind me spoiling the novel below the cut with you.

Soooo where we at in the series is very similar to where Kan and Wasan were at the end of Book 1, Kan is still hiding secrets from Wasan - Wasan finding out his mom wasn't 'killed' by the serial killer but he's ignoring that anyway to live his life blissfully with Kan -> leading to them being boyfriends but still having that huge wall of secrecy between them (both hiding things they know from each other) and Book 2 addresses that by having Kan faced legal consequences for some of his actions and there's a really dramatic arc where Wasan finds out about Kan euthanising his mom and Kan begging for his forgiveness.

The series has adjusted so much, taking some things from Book 2 but then not adapting some stuff. I really can't tell you if they'll be able to adapt that dramatic scene where Kan begs for Wasan's forgiveness because he's still hiding secrets from his boyfriend in this ep.

Your feeling of not wanting them to end up together is exactly correct because they shouldn't be together yet. How can they be happy together with all these lies between them ಥ_ಥ I think the novel did well in having them end up together but it's after many other events that the series has yet to covered and when they have undergone massive character development and mindset changes.

I too sincerely hope Kan tells Wasan everything in EP. 8. Like Mr. Doctor do you know that you have only have ONE episode left sirrrrrrr 😭

Yea I think it's unlikely that we'll meet Tor & JJ in another project soon since they're independent actors but I'm very glad they came to deliver this work because it's so rare to witness Thai series touching controversial topics, much less for it to be a primetime series with an excellent cast.

The writing for SMYM may not be perfect with obvious illogicalities or flaws here and there but the design of the characters and certain details have been almost immaculate and I must thank the strong cast for salvaging this script and keeping me absolutely hooked each week.

EDIT: because I completely forgot your OG question is about the ending of SMYM. I think One31 has had a streak with giving their OneD originals sad endings this year so I'm actually very mentally prepared for the ending of SMYM since it definitely can't be as bad as the two last ones I've seen (re: the leads dying from being executed or being shot dead) from One31. At most, Kan and Wasan will break up and you know what I'm also fine with that, serves Kan right for keep lying to man you wanna date.

Blog Post Series: Breaking Down Hiccup

Title: Live and Let Fly

Ep/Season: Episode 1, Season 2 (Defenders of Berk)

Premise:

Picking up from where we left off, Hiccup & gang are wary of the threats Alvin now brings. Unfortunately, a sudden ban on flying has stifled plans to train and prepare for the impending Outcast assault. Hiccup must deal w (1) his troops, 2) restless dragons & (3) overprotective father.

CHARACTER ANALYSIS

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

DoB’s first episode pushes Hiccup into a different league. He is not just a dragon trainer anymore, but a soldier. He knows that his team needs to level up on training and prepare for battle. Which means, everyone has to improve.

However, Stoick sits on the fence in allowing Hiccup back out on the field following his kidnapping. He decides that it’s safer for Hiccup to be out of sight and out of mind.

That doesn’t sit well w Hiccup at all, because if Hiccup knows anything, is that his strength is maximise w Toothless than without and Berk’s advantage is it’s dragons.

No one is happy about the ban, and the dragons grow restless. Understandably so.

The new set of Berk’s warriors are trained to fight w dragons.

Cleverly, our hero is aware, that it isn’t enough to be on the backs of dragons. They need their own hand held devices and shields.

I love that this is the episode they introduce his shield and this shield plays a significant role in the many shows to come.

The humour behind the fragile calibration setting the shield off was a favourite in the episode. I’m all here for awkward encounters!

I love Hiccup’s design for his gadgets aiding him in battle. We get that physically he has limitations, but he supplements those short comings w weapons showcasing his innovative side.

I also like how his first “weapon” or battle armour is a shield. It shows that Hiccup is always on the defensive never offensive, because as much as he can help it, he doesn’t want to fight.

THEME & MESSAGE

DRAGON FLIGHT CLUB

The team decides to take matters into their own hands. After all, how are they going to defeat Alvin if they don’t study counterattacks on the captured dragons stored in Alvin’s dungeons.

And so, they assemble the secret society, Dragon Flight Club, to train under the cover of night.

I have to point out that Hiccup looks super cute here. This pose made me crush hard on Hiccup when I watched it back then. Such authority, w a dash of nonchalance.

GROWING PAINS

I think one of the hardest things for Stoick is to let Hiccup go. He is his only son. The child from his only love. He can’t lose Hiccup. Not again. (Anyone feeling Rhaenyra vibes here? Yes/No?)

But it’s impossible to cage Hiccup in general. The boy has always been made to fly. And hard as it is for any parent to let their kids go, Stoick is no exception.

Instead of fighting against Hiccup, Stoick needed to learn, that together, they are powerful. Signified by the combined blast of Thornado’s roar and Toothless’ plasma.

Together they will defeat Berk’s enemies. And together they will defend their village.

Hiccup is a little more mature in this season than the last. We’ve seen him grow as a member of Berk’s council. Now, we will watch him grow in another aspect for his people. A defender.

I find it hilarious how this entire conversation means that this scenario HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE.

I was reading one of your posts on Sand/Ray (Ray/Sand? Idk their ship name) and it had me thinking: did Sand not think about the consequences of releasing the recording outside of how it would affect Top?

At the end of ep 7, we see Ray and Mew dancing or whatever the hell is going on there together, and Sand watching them. As many people have pointed out, he looks more disappointed than surprised. I’m guessing the fear of something like this happening has been in the back of his mind since Boston told half truths about Ray’s history with Mew.

I don’t remember exactly when the getting high session with Sand, Ray, Boston, and Nick happened and if it was before or after Sand got the tape, but that would also be a pretty good reason to release the tape as it could also hurt Boston. Though, Sand strikes me as a kind of “don’t kill the messenger” guy and it would also hurt Nick so I’m guessing his sole motivation was Top being a dick at the juice bar.

But back to my main question: why didn’t Sand see Mew and Ray getting together as a possibility or did he and just accepted it? Because if he had thought it through he would’ve realized that okay 1) tape makes it’s way to Mew, 2) Top is exposed, 3) Mew ends things with Top, 4) Top is heartbroken (yay!!! [from Sand’s perspective]), 5) Mew looks for support and finds it in 6) Ray. Did he not think past Top getting hurt to the part where Mew would fall into Ray’s arms or was he willing to take the risk/was pretending not to care?

I’m curious as to what you think because Sand seems like a pretty smart guy (I’d go so far as to say he 100% knew what he was doing giving the tape to Ray which was manipulative and out of character for him (not as in how he was written, but as in that’s not who he is as a person and breaks his moral code) but felt bad about it later which is why he apologized) and idk if his feelings for Ray clouded his judgement or if he accepted as Mew and Ray as a possibility/inevitable.

I do touch on this briefly in my post (here). Like you, I'm certain Sand would have known that in doing so, he'd be opening the door to Ray/Mew. That isn't to say this would be a guaranteed outcome, but as long as Mew isn't taken, then Ray still sees a chance there, even if it's only a matter of technicality.

Now, Sand utilises this very fact to ensure the outcome he wants, which confirms he must be aware of it. He gets his revenge, but he risks compromising further developments with Ray in the process.

As to why he chooses to do this, I remain stumped.

I think a big piece of the puzzle is still missing, and that's the exact circumstances which led to his grudge with Top in the first place. Sand prioritised revenge here above all else, even if it meant sacrificing Ray (also hurting Nick, smashing his phone - for someone broke, this is not a thing to do lightly). That indicates to me either Sand's ex meant a great deal to him, maybe the fallout with his ex was particularly devastating, or what Top did was truly unforgivable.

It's even more intriguing when you consider how Sand has been with Ray. He's very patient, accommodating, and willing to forgive. A stark contrast to this burning desire to get payback on Top at all costs.

On another note, I also believe Sand was still harbouring the smallest of hopes that maybe - just maybe, Ray might care about him back. So when he sees Ray dancing with Mew, it reminds him all over again of how foolish he was to entertain that, even briefly. Which is why Sand looks weary and unsurprised. Of course. He gets passed up. He gets left behind. It's what his ex did. Why wouldn't Ray do it too?

He allows others to see just the surface of everything going on with him, but he tends to be very private about his thoughts and interests. Its not a lack of confidence. And Chay chooses this! At any point he could put down the guitar pick and answer his friend’s invite, who probably knows something is up with Chay just not what. He’s very tunnel-visioned when he chooses a path, but he doesn’t feel the need to tell anyone else that

Chay doesn’t hide or lie about his emotions and thoughts usually. He just doesn’t always say them out loud. There’s a difference trust me

Whereas Chay made that pick himself adding even greater meaning to the gift. Chay isn’t trying to manipulate Kim, he’s genuinely just staying true to himself by confessing and giving Kim the pick as thanks. Chay’s always been upfront about his emotions and intentions with Kim which is very refreshing

“From now on I won’t have any excuse to see your face.” “Can I bother you one last time?” – that’s such a cute statement, plus it also goes to show that Chay gets that Kim is trying to cut him off and will accept it after he says his piece (Chay respects boundaries! I love Chay’s fidgeting here, very genuine and doesn’t feel forced

KIM’S FACE WHEN CHAY SAYS HE LIKES HIM! He knew but was not prepared for Chay to actually say it

Chay’s rambling about making an oath with himself – he is so good! He is so emotionally healthy & confident! (I am ignoring the red flags about his stalking right now!)

I know some people were disappointed about never getting a ‘real’ kiss, but I like this cheek kiss. Chay’s still young compared to Kim, and Kim holds a lot of power as his tutor as well as how many secrets he’s keeping from Chay. A kiss on the lips would have been marred by that and would have been uncomfortable when looked back on. This kiss works for them, it's sweet and it’s a foundation for the two of them to build on

During this scene, there’s this large empty space between Kim and Chay. Chay stays respectfully away until Kim breaks the divide and kisses him. It was always going to be up to Kim to choose what to do next

THE MUSIC!! THE HUGS!! – Kim is so not a hugger, but for Chay he lets it happen, twice! This is the same man we see bullying bodyguards and murdering people! The duality of man indeed

Shoutout to Tankhun for his open and honest defense of Porsche – truly a man who knows that open communication is necessary (unlike his brothers)

This ep definitely goes everywhere, but we get a good amount of KimChay development as well as a Macau appearance. I’m glad we got solo scenes from Kim & Chay before they saw each other as it laid the groundwork for the confession scene, very well plotted. Chay being so truthful to himself as well as Kim’s emotional breakthrough was very refreshing

JJK season 2 episode 21 thoughts! ✨

Went into this episode expecting the iconic “I am you” scene to be animated, left with two incredible works of art now ingrained into my memories (todo and takada-chan beating up mahito)

All this about Todo wanting to imitate All Might from MHA last episode, but I’m thrilled that the animators confirmed that Todo is actually living the magical idol anime dream that Gege Akutami initially was going to write before starting JJK. AND managed to make the volume cover I never really liked into a beautiful and hilarious moment 💗✨

Music / ost worked the entire episode and went silent when it was needed. Some of the previous eps had parts with their pacing or music that lessened the emotions of the scenes (e.g. right after Nanami died), but everything here flowed well!

As much as I like talking about JJK, sometimes, at my core, I just like watching a good and entertaining fight scene, and that was a majority of this episode until the end. It battle shonen’d in the best way a battle shonen can be. It’s a satisfying feeling to have snail mahito, a birthday, a magical girl segment, and a metaphorical rabbit wolf clashing of truths all in one fight.

The voice acting still amazing with every episode—Mahito and Yuuji being the highlights. I’ve said this a few times, but Mahito’s VA captures the (literal) childish personality and mindset of his character. Last episode, it was how he threw around and yelled at Yuuji like a kid throwing around a doll. This ep was along the same lines, with him immediately crying and throwing dirt at Yuuji. It’s not the exact same, since he is a curse, but it shows how he just came into being and was constantly learning and curious about the world. And the second Yuuji actually badly hurts him, stops him from running away, and repeats similar beliefs back to him, he breaks down. They really are the “same.”

Now Yuuji!!! His new conviction, if it can be called that, about being a cog made to kill curses until he’s worn out. Not exactly the healthiest mindset, but it’s an unsurprising progression after losing control of his own body/autonomy, losing his mentor and best friend (both figures of reassurance and hope), having his entire foundation for living and abiding by his grandpa’s dying wishes be challenged—all while needing to keep moving forward, to not fall into complete despair.

The voice acting in his speech back to Mahito sounded lifeless, but authentic to what he now believes. I appreciated how little the VA gave emphasis to any words and spoke it all in one similar tone. Some of the way it was spoken also sounded like it was affected somewhat by his mouth wound, which was a nice touch.

Continuing: Yuuji’s new mindset is faulty and I love how much the episode shows the flaws of how Mahito and him thought, and how they’re both still incredibly young with their views constantly challenged by their new experiences. We get what’s supposed to be a cathartic scene of Yuuji killing Mahito and stalking him like a predator towards a prey animal, only to have the final killing blow be taken by Kenjaku, another predator (when your mom steals your deserved murder 🙄).

I’ve always appreciated how this moment was not presented as this great turn of beliefs that leads to success, and instead immediately gives him this unfulfilling and destructive outcome. Like, I’ll take Yuuji beating Mahito as a momentary win, but it’s not going to work out in the long run for himself or anyone. Which makes me interested in where his character is headed for the rest of the manga. There’s probably more to say with him regarding the story’s themes on strength/weakness, enlightenment, hunger, etc., but I love what we are given here.

His entire cog in a machine (of war) also reminds me of the series’ title emphasizing endless repetition of fights and everything looping (got the translation from the blog at kylescooter.com). JJK has constant examples and themes of past generation vs new generations, traditional vs unconventional, etc, but also repeating history and being stuck in the same ways. This post is already too long, but I wonder how Gege will conclude all this and if anything will change.

Said up there that there wasnt anything I disliked about the episode, but I do wish wolf Kenjaku was added! Not just because I adore the scene (for its imagery and hinting at them being related), but also because it would’ve been cool to transition out of that scene by having wolf Kenjaku show up.

Next ep will have Choso, the Kyoto school, Kenjaku, Uraume, and Yuki!! Also that Mei Mei scene which I am absolutely dreading.

last movie: Midway (awful, boring movie)… before that was Apocalypse Now, I started Heart of Darkness bc of it. I was interested in the adaptation process. Tough to read (and watch) but fascinating.

last TV show: we are watching Breaking Bad, Mob Psycho 100, and Regular Show concurrently. I’ve never seen Breaking Bad before and we have ~3 episodes left, so I’m waiting for Mike to slap Jessie and take him away. My partner is hating every ep of mobpsy but is indulging me.

SPECULATIONS AND PERSONAL FEARS ABOUT THE LAST FOUR EPISODES OF LAST TWILIGHT UNDER THE CUT

sorry anon im gonna take this chance to vent a little about my worries ;;;;; there are no spoilers about the ending of the novel but there are SPOILERS about future content since im gonna reference some moments we’ve seen during filming and that have not happened yet. PLEASE DON’T READ THIS IF YOU DON’T WANNA WORRY ABOUT THE ENDING OF THE SHOW. i swear im gonna be back on being positive and manifesting the best possible ending after this, but i’ve been very anxious and i need to talk about it, so yeah, i really apologize for this

the thing is. im like 99.9999999% sure that the last scene of episode 9 is gonna be day going fully blind. jimmysea have talked multiple times about this episode being their favorite and the fact that the scene on the cover of the novel is extremely important, so im pretty sure mork is gonna take day on the top of the mountain and while they’re looking at the sun going down mork is gonna ask ‘have you done everything you want?’ to which day is gonna answer, like in the mock trailer, ‘one last picture left’. he’s gonna look at mork, kiss him, and then, when day opens his eyes again, he will no longer be able to see anything

and i am completely fine with this. is it gonna be sad? yes, because it’s still a huge loss, but we’ve seen day coming to terms with it and learning that he can still live a very fulfilling life, so we know he’s gonna be alright, especially with mork by his side. it’s the afterwards that im TERRIFIED about. and again, im sure mork and day are gonna have a happy ending, all those theories about mork or night dying and donating their corneas to day are (respectfully) completely unrealistic, they're never gonna happen, but it's the way that we're gonna get to that happy ending that scares me

like two things i think will have to happen in the last three episodes:  

a reconciliation between day and night;

mork is gonna have to stop being day’s caretaker.

what we know is gonna happen thanks to the bts during the filming process is also that:

at some point there’s gonna be a hospital scene (it could also be a flashback, but im not sold on this theory);

there’s gonna be a time skip of 4 years and morkday are gonna be attending another wedding (most likely night and phorjai’s).

my main fear is not only that they’re gonna let day regain his sight, but also that they’re gonna separate mork and day for those 4 years just for the sake of drama. and i don’t like separations. i don’t like the episode 11 curse, i don’t like cheap manufactured angst, i don’t even like the ‘these characters have to be separated to find themselves before they can be together’ trope. the only show that did separation right was vice versa and i will die on this hill. when it comes to last twilight, i don’t really believe the theory of day’s mom firing mork and being the one to separate them, because i think that deep down all she wants is to see her child happy and if mork makes him happy then she’s gonna accept him. my nightmare scenario is that someone is gonna offer mork a job, mork is gonna refuse the offer so he can stay with day, day is gonna find out and think that 1) he’s holding mork back, and 2) mork thinks day can’t take care of himself just like everybody else, so he’s gonna break up with mork. timeskip. they reunite at night and phorjai’s wedding and they get back together

and i, unfortunately, would HATE this

and i swear im trying so hard to trust p’aof but i’ve already partaken in unprecedented unparalleled unmatched levels of winnery with vice versa and my brain is refusing to believe it could happen a second time so it’s preparing for the worse

Ep 44 Pt 2: Name Hunt

We start this half of the episode at the card game that is currently just kinda stalled. It’s more like a D+D session at this point, where everyone is separated, random enemies are appearing in random rooms, and their biggest issue is that they were balanced to work as a team, and as a solo fight they’re gonna freakin die.

Or Bjork will come back in the time it takes for the team to reassemble.

Sorry his name isn’t Bjork, it’s Korn. Or...well it’s something from the 90′s. Zork. It was Zork. But with a c. Bjorc Necrophades.

So as Yami dumps on Bakura about how boring this game is for him, Bakura reminds him that because Pharaoh shoved his memory in a puzzle piece, Pharaoh is dumb as a sack of bricks. Which like, relatable.

I STILL don’t quite get it.

I know that Seto kills Yami in the OG timeline, they have been saying that for 4 seasons. But if Yami had to put himself in that puzzle to put back Zorc...does this imply that the fight with Seto was to resurrect Zorc? that Seto was a pawn of Bakura even in the original timeline?

Have I finally figured out the paradox that’s been bothering me all season, where before it looked like Yami died 2 separate ways in two separate timelines? I mean, while I am much better (not fully, hence the slow update schedule but am getting much better) Long covid for like an entire year removed so much of my memory, that I was able to play Undertale again like it was the first time. Which is incredible because it’s the most memed game and y’all, I forgot nearly every line that Sans said. Which I’m not gonna lie, kind of rocks. But also kind of difficult when I’m trying to remember the plot of this show.

Bro did offer to write the blog in my stead, but when he attempted to use Photoshop he could not figure out how to leave the text editor. Making these caps will one hundred percent crash my computer if he’s doing the driving. Photoshop crashes my computer about 4 times on a normal day, if you don’t know what you’re doing, Photoshop will seal you in a demon dimension before crashing your computer, and yet, still charge you 12 dollars a month. You cannot turn your back on photoshop, just like Zorc.

Anyway, back to the show:

I mean that’s my personal gamble. I will always gamble Tristan on who’s gonna die. And him being Bakura right now is just...ooo ripe to die this season, yeah?

Bakura took a moment to try and remind Yami that this is all a simulation and all of these pieces on the board were in fact not real people, to which Yami reminded Bakura that he himself is a ghost in a box and is only loosely defined as a “real person” himself.

And then Karim, who’s name I had completely forgotten, so I’m glad the show reminded me, was like “Oh no! I’m dying!” PS he’s been “dying” for like 3 episodes, so I was very surprised he actually fully died.

Like Egypt Grandpa is going to outlast this stack of bricks down there, and that’s like a lot to take in. Modern Grandpa breaks his butt like constantly but Egyptian Grandpa is built like a truck.

Isis was very upset by this, and like I don’t blame her, look at the FEATURES on that man. True tragedy right there to lose that block of cheese right there and just be left with freakin Shada. Who, in case you forgot, has a motorcycle tattoo on his entire forehead. I too would be crying my eyes out, Isis, this is looking grim for you.

It only just now as I was writing this cap realized that when Bakura was like “who would you bet is going to die first?” he wasn’t talking about Yami’s high school friends, but was in fact foreshadowing the truly tragic death of Karim, who I totally remembered the name of.

Anyway, it’s still gonna be Tristan because for real, Karim doesn’t count.

Bit of a baby manger vibe to this shot, not gonna lie. Nice nativity we got going there. Baby jesus, Mary and Joseph, a shepherd, a wise man, and uh...Shadi. Shadi could be an Angel I guess, he isn’t technically alive. There. Print this out and put it above your grandma’s Christmas tree, instant nativity.

Speaking of the kids, Joey was really testing my gamble by walking headfirst into a trap that spits daggers into your feet.

Inside of this maze is step by step the same as the story of the tomb we saw with the hot version of grandpa that opened this arc.

Including this room, where Grandpa got betrayed by a very silly slingshot.

This was the show spoon feeding us Yugi’s character growth, since he was just a barrel of nerves and sinew when we first met this boy. He is braver this season, I will give him that, but it feels like it’s more that he’s the only person who’s fully aware that none of this is real. Yugi is inside of his own mind puzzle. It’s literally the only place he’s got full control (ish).

At the end of this little walk across the fear pit that literally no one here had any problems with (like Tea walked across this narrow fear pit in 5 inch heels!) The little box that carried Pharaoh’s puzzle isn’t here, instead it’s a bunch of Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Reminder that even Season Zero Yugi, who is the most pile of nerves Yugi, would have kicked your ass even without the puzzle. Like this is mostly my own interpretation, but without the puzzle......Yugi would have straight up stabbed that guy, right? Like straight up? Yugi is a menace to society. Sure, he was nervous about having to defend himself, but Yami wasn’t a Pharaoh yet, he was Yugi’s dark side, who was backed into corners so hard by people with literal whips and people with yoyo’s with spikes on the end, he pretty much always had to choose violence in order to survive Freshman year.

Like yes he walked across a bridge without fear. Makes sense, the bridge doesn’t have spike yoyo’s, fire shooting out, a guy holding your girlfriend hostage with a gun at a burger restaurant, and whatever capitalist nightmare Seto has come up with that month. But we can still call this bridge character development, as a treat.

After Joey tricked the switch that opened the garage door to Yami’s secret name, the episode ended.

can’t wait to see Tristan hold up some fingers and have the show convince me it’s a gun.

Why Aziraphale’s choice 100% makes sense, even if it breaks our hearts.

I have now watched the entire second season twice through, and here's what I realized in the second watch:

1) Aziraphale wants to protect everything he loves. In season 1 he keeps trying to reach the right people in order to protect the world, and to protect humans, and most of all, to protect Crowley. When he speaks to the Metatron in Season 1, you can see the powerlessness on his face when he realizes no one in the higher ups will listen to him, and that speaking to God is actually impossible. So then he finally calls the one being in all of existence who will listen. He finally chooses to directly go against his orders, rather than toeing the line in subverting them, but he still thinks he's doing what's right, for the sake of the world, humans, and the demonic being he loves. He thinks Heaven is mistaken, not that Heaven is as bad as Hell. Aziraphale didn’t actually witness them telling him to "Shut his stupid mouth, and die."

I don’t think the decision to accept the Metatron’s offer is out of left field at all. Here's his chance to fulfill his purpose as a protector. Aziraphale thinks this is his chance to never be powerless again. This is his chance to make sure the earth never gets destroyed on a whim or because of the ignorance and callousness clearly demonstrated by the other angels who don't consult him on policy decisions. This is his chance to protect Crowley from Heaven and Hell, forever. This is his chance to be listened to and FINALLY make a difference.

Of COURSE he is going to take it.

2) Aziraphale knows Crowley ALWAYS circles back after "walking away." We see it in season 1 repeatedly. We see it as a whole scene on Ep 1 of season 2. All it takes is a sniff of a threat and Crowley is driving that Bentley as fast as possible and willing to humiliate himself with a little dance in order to protect and help Aziraphale. So it’s natural to assume Aziraphale knows Crowley will aways come back. The lines of their Ep 6 break up is a direct parallel of Ep 1′s fight. 

Ep 1: “No I would love you to help me. I’m asking you to help me take care of him. But if you won’t, you won’t.”

Ep 2: “Come with me to heaven... Work with me. We can be together... I need you! ... Well, then there’s nothing more to say. Crowley ALWAYS threatens to leave, walks out, and then comes back to his angel. So I think, even with all the devastation, Aziraphale thinks Crowley just needs time to rage and then will come to his senses and return, just like he always does.

3) He is 💯 being blinded by the love bombing/opportunity being presented to him by a horribly toxic indoctrinating institution from which he just barely managed to get out. He’s had far longer than 6000 years of conditioning. He’s only had 4-5 years of freedom. Aziraphale lost faith in Heaven, not God. Of course as soon as someone from that institution shows up, rebuking his abusers, lavishing praise, and promising if he just comes back everything will be different is going to make him question, once again, what is right. Abuser handbook 101.

But even with unconsciously reacting from an conditioned place, Aziraphale is still very intelligent, and knows what’s being offered to him. Which leads me to... 4) Even after going against Heaven, even after indirectly lying to God about the sword, even after directly lying to his angelic superiors about Job’s children, even after thwarting Armageddon, Aziraphale never Fell, and so he must, on some level, assume this was all planned for a reason, and this is a reward for doing what was right and not losing faith (a direct parallel to Job). And on top of that he's rewarded with forgiveness and power not just for himself, but his demonic counterpart who, we know, previously wouldn't ever be forgiven by anyone but Aziraphale himself.

By accepting the promotion and returning to heaven, Aziraphale can ensure: They get to be together, they get to run Heaven, they get to protect the planet and the humans. They will be safe, they'll be on the same side, and both of them will be loved and forgiven by God and Heaven.

How, in Heaven, Hell, or Earth could Aziraphale say no to that?

Ok so I wanted to post the link to a tumblr post but for some reason it’s not letting me, however I’m determined to get this off my chest mostly because so many people agree with this nonsense

I don't really get jemily but I don't hate it, but to use THIS point to try to sell them to me is so insane. You could choose literally any other scene to show their chemistry or whatever, but people are acting like Emily didn't save Will because he's an actual human being??? Like hello?? And he's her friend too, not that if he wasn't she would've just left him, she's a law enforcement agent for fuck's sake. It's her showing basic humanity and a hole lot of bravery to stick with him, she did NOT do it because he's JJ's boyfriend, she did not do it because JJ cared about him, she did it because he's a human being who was in need of help at that time and she would've helped him even if he wasn't JJ's boyfriend. This post makes me so mad omg because that's just human compassion??? And Emily is such a caring person naturally so to reduce that to her just doing it because JJ loves Will feels cheap. You could literally use any other  scene to sell me on jemily but not this.

I'm assuming since you're anon you're happy for me to post this but sometimes people don't want their controversial takes out there so please let me know if not 🙈

So yeah I agree. I love Jemily pre-Will, and I can see it even for a little while around Henry being born, like I can imagine a world where him moving to be with her and Henry doesn't happen, or doesn't work out. But there comes a point in canon where JJ and Will have basically the only healthy, supportive relationship on the show, and they obviously love and respect each other a lot and work to communicate in a way that strengthens their relationship and their family. And for me personally, the Jemily ship has sailed at that stage, and it feels sad to me past that. (Like not "you're sad for shipping that", but actually the thought of either of them having feelings for the other past that point just makes me feel sad for them, and I don't like my ships to make me feel that way, so I don't go there.) And a lot of things people talk about as obvious Jemily things can just as easily be interpreted as Emily pining for what JJ has - a relationship, a little nuclear family, whatever.

Anyway, this scene specifically I 100% agree with you - especially at this point in canon, when I feel like her self preservation instinct is at an all time low, but also just the way she is in general - she's walked into a situation she thought would likely kill her before, she's had a gun to her head and been ready to die, and I think she would do this for anyone. No matter who she found strapped to a bomb with the timer at 2:45 and the bomb squad 3 minutes out, she'd stay there and try to save them. And Will isn't a stranger. There's a lot I'd do to save my best friend's partner's life, because (1) he's a person, (2) she's my best friend, and (3) she loves him. I don't want to bang or marry either of them.

What I also don't want to lose sight of in this moment by making it about Jemily is Will. He tells her to get out, he tells her to get Henry, and he's the one who tells her the right code and saves them both. They collaborate here in literally the most stressful situation possible and I love everything it says about both of them that they’re able to do that. And I'll never be entirely over "I'm not gonna leave you, just gimme a minute" / *looks at timer* "That's about all you got". Will's awesome in this ep.

I got a comment once on a Jemily ficlet I wrote (in my previous form lol) that they didn't normally ship Jemily because they felt it could cheapen the friendship between JJ and Emily but they appreciated how I had done it or whatever, and I remember at the time not really getting it. But I think it's this kind of thing - arguing that this kind of moment is definitive proof of a romantic connection puts romantic love on a pedestal and says this character would never do this for a friend. And idk. I think she would 🤷‍♀️

It's all subjective and open to interpretation of course. But the Emily Prentiss I see would absolutely do what she does in this ep without romantic love crossing her mind. She just sees a person in danger with nobody else around to help them, and does what she can. She never lets anyone feel alone, and she always tries to protect anyone she has a chance to protect. That's such a core part of her character for me and we see her do it for other characters too.

ETA I also really don't want to yuck anyone else's yum here (god I hate that phrase). . . Fandom is supposed to be fun, and I don't want anyone ever feeling attacked. I don't agree with the post you quoted but I honestly think there are a lot of fair interpretations and also even if you have an objectively insane interpretation of a scene from this crime show, if it brings you joy and entertainment that is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT, no judgment here.

RANKING TDI GEN 4 CHARACTERS 🏝️

AXEL: (B) S1, she really didn't leave an impact to me, since she was eliminated early. All she was is a person who believes the zombie apocalypse will happen. But she nice enough to make breakfast for everybody (even tho it was gross). S2, I started to like her more since she tries to be nice and makes friends as possible. It great that she has hobbies of Art 🎨(I will like to see more of that than Zombies since no teenagers talks about Zombies). I honestly didn't expect her and Ripper will happen. It actually cute pair together. But, I didn't like how they were making out a lot in ep 7. But I understand why the writer did it so they can be double eliminated. It feels dirty that she got eliminated bc she a “biggest threat” even tho there Caleb & last season winner, Priya. If there S3 , I want both of them to agreed to focus on the challenge while together. If Ripper is eliminated early, the writer can focus on Axel. I wonder how Axel family will react if she brings Ripper for family dinner. 😆

BOWIE: (B) S1, he alright. I like his friendship with Emma. Wishing they talk more.

CALEB: (B) S1, Actually surprised he the first person to be eliminated. S2, from the first person to be eliminated to a person who actually got to the finals. He alright. He got more role this season. His relationship with Priya is alright. I don’t like when they were fighting again when Caleb ally with Julia, it was nonsense.

CHASE: (D) He rude. He’s delusions and has no remorse for cutting Emma car brakes. I don't know why no one defend Emma when she trying to tell Chase it over. If S3 gives him a redemption arc, I’m ok with it.

DAMIEN: (B) One of my favorite characters.

EMMA: (C) S1 is just about her and Chase. She could have simply ignored Chase. And just say no whenever he says something. S2, she finally break up with Chase. Hopefully in S3 it won't be the same as S1 and has a new loving boyfriend.

JULIA: (B) Julia & MK friendship came out of nowhere. I won’t be surprised since the writer always write things out of nowhere and it only 13 episodes they can make, so of course they will fast paced.

MILLIE: (C) She was ok.

MK: (C) She was meh in S1. But the writer did good job of both her & Julia in S2 villain. Isn’t it dumb that she exposed herself that people shouldn't underestimate her in a live reality show?? She literally caught stealing! Like how come no contestants aren't threatened by her? Shouldn’t she be arrested? I feel S3 she won't have no purpose since everybody knows she & Julia are cheaters. I won't be surprised she will be the first person to be eliminated. I will like to see 2 new villains taking their places, pretending to be nice as Alejandro did.

NICHELLE: (B) Same as Caleb & Axel. She didn’t left an impact but revealed she doesn’t do her own stunts. S2, I actually thought she will be in the finals. But sadly no. Hollywood should hire her for the hard work she been doing. I like her friendship w/ Damien and hopefully in S3 she will train him.

RIPPER: (B) S1 he gross. I waited for this guys to be eliminated early. When they hinted that his parents are abusive, I felt sorry for him. In S2, I started to like him more. He becomes a better person this season. (Did he realize that girls are strong & wise bc of Priya & Axel)? I’m honestly surprised he developed a crush on Axel. This guy has a lot of confidence to win Axel heart. 😆 It so romantic once he found out Axel interest, he wrote a poem just for her. Very Sweet! 💕 Hope these 2 last forever and isn’t written terribly like the former couples.
