Tweek tried to, but ultimately will never, learn how to drive with heavy advice from his loved ones (Craig). It’s too stressful. It’s dangerous because of his anxiety and tics for others and himself. No driving for Tweek. Please.

Cartman doesn’t make fun of Craig for being “half ginger” because he’s a little scared of him… kind of.

Hi! I'm Callie, I’m in love with fictional characters, and this is a yume blog. Shocker, right?

I’ve been a selfshipper and canon x OC fiend for as long as I can remember, but I’m only now working up the nerve to make a whole entire blog dedicated to the practice. Call it shyness, or call it not being able to figure out a good username for a long time, either works.

A quick note on boundaries: I don’t believe in DNI culture as a whole, so I’m not going to make a list of people I don’t want around. Instead, I’m going to offer you some information for you to curate your own experience. how would u rank the sp parents

this is such a complex question because i feel like the ways in which the parents are shitty is so varied from family to family that i can’t even begin to rank them. if you base it on the level of physical security and stability, the ranking would be the mccormicks last, then liane, then the marshes, then the broflovskis. but, if you base it on emotional care, it would be the mccormicks, the broflovskis (an argument can be made for sheila, as she clearly adores kyle, but he shows clear anxiety around her), the marshes, and then liane (however, this is complex, as her doting nature is also overly lenient, so even though he feels emotionally cared for, is he really?)

not to mention a lot of the parents have changed significantly over the course of the show. for instance, liane was a much worse parent in the beginning, with now her main issue being that she indulges cartman’s every whim (though this has been changing!) and that she doesn’t discipline at all, but at the start of the show we know that she regularly smokes crack with her kid in the home and has exposed cartman to her sexual exploits in person. and, on the flip side, randy started the show as a goofy and absent-minded yet fairly present parent, but has progressively descended into being an abusive, negligent parent with debilitating substance abuse issues. the mccormicks and sheila have been pretty consistent i feel, with the mccormicks all throughout being shown to be mostly just negligent, but with moments of emotional and physical abuse (in the case of kevin, at least). though, i would say they used to be more involved parents and care more for kenny’s wellbeing. as in, if they showed a scene with stuart going out of his way to play catch with kenny in a newer episode, i’d be surprised. sheila has consistently been shown to be a helicopter parent who is an imposing but loving figure, with her behaviors not being particularly flanderized considering she initiates war with canada over t+p pretty early on in the series. that said, i’d say that, much like the other parents, she’s become comparatively more distant from her kids than before, which can be seen in the way that kyle increasingly takes on this parent role in ike’s life. in terms of consistency and also quality i would say sharon takes this place. in fact, though i said i struggle with ranking, i think it’s safe to say that sharon is the best parent in the show.

this already got long, so i’m not going to write about my thoughts on gerald as a father and his development, as my feelings on that topic are so complex, so it will at least triple this post. anyways, this was absolutely NOT an answer to your question, but an essay, which is why i put off answering it because i knew this would happen lol. here is my attempt at a ranking though:

i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and i want to hear someone from SPHS’s thoughts.

i know you’ve noticed the “tiktok” fan base- the ones that only watch clips of the show and then say they’re fans. i read one of your posts talking about these types of fans and making blatantly incorrect headcanons. that’s something that bugs me, but another thing that bugs me is the fact i do not believe south park is tiktokable. i’ll use family guy as a comparison for my points.

first of all, compared to family guy, the humor is different, pretty much everything they explained in the cartoon wars two parter explains what i mean, m&t are not fans of interchangeable jokes and are able to give characters emotional progression throughout the episode. that’s one huge factor, i hope you get what i’m trying to imply with that. m&t are passionate about their story telling and it pays off in their episodes. i know not EVERY SINGLE joke follows this, but there are jokes made better by understanding the characters and the circumstance of the episode. the episodes work best in their entirety. (that was difficult to explain so i fear it can be misinterpreted easily)

the characters are another thing i want to mention. i watched the episode TSST with two friends awhile ago, one of which who had never seen an episode and didn’t understand cartmans character. she kept asking questions about him, or said how weird his hitler obsession was. the other friend hadn’t finished south park and said he hated cartmans character and it’s hes one of the bad pieces of the show. i believe even if you don’t like cartman as a personal preference thing, you should at least appreciate him as a character and his placement, it’s hard to understand him (despite us watching an episode that really dives into him, they still didn’t know much about him before). with family guy, one episode is enough to grasp the character, hell, even a single scene is i’d say, while m&t are very good at developing and fleshing out character personalities over time. it’s why they can pull off making sad episodes (like kenny dies and assburgers), heartwarming episodes (like tweek x craig and even bits of episodes like in raisins) all while still being a comedy show. they understand how to make the characters react in a way that can make you feel something while maintaining a good amount of jokes in the episode.

i dont know, theres more i could add but i’m just writing whatever comes to mind first so it might make no sense or it might be wrong. also, i’m by no means an old fan. i’ve rewatched the series quite a few times, watched commentaries, researched through wiki pages and am constantly trying to better my knowledge of the show, but i know i’m not quite there yet and could just be making a mistake GAHAH

No anon, I actually totally get this and agree 100%. SP as a show is not something that works well with out of context clips (and even then, the ones that do work are usually from very early in an episode before the plot fully gets established and stakes as drawn). Until pre s18 when they started soft continuity (and then s19-21s full continuity, after that is a whole other discussion entirely), the shows syndicated nature did make it easier to hop into any episode and watch it in its entirety and enjoy it without much prior knowledge of the show or it's characters. However, even then, you really needed to watch the *whole* episode to get the big picture of it's message.

And I get it, SP full length episodes are not as accessible as they once were. People these days don't know how or aren't willing to pirate things if they don't have the streaming service SP is hosted on, and beyond that, south park used to be free to watch on their website. Like, that's how I ended up catching up on the show when I finally decided to take it all in other than a handful of episodes and scenes I'd seen during my childhood back in 2013. It was all entirely available (save for Super Best Friends, 200 and 201, which I had to go track down on other websites) for free, with ads unless you used an ad blocker, right at your fingertips. And that's how M+T wanted SP to be consumed, because they explicitly noted that they didn't care about making money on streamed episodes, they cared about getting their show out there. (I will have to go find that interview, I know it's somewhere).

But still, regardless of that, you're right. SP is not something that you can consume short form as a brief tiktok video, and that's why I think we have newer fans with such big gaps in knowledge that seem like they would be easy to fill in. It's not that they're being willfully ignorant, they're just being fed a very piecemeal version of the show through social media, which is how we get people thinking Pip is a he//llpa//rk OC (augh!!! dont get me started) instead of realizing this dude was actually in the fucking show, or headcanons that are very easy to contradict with canon itself by watching like 3 episodes. That's not me knocking HCs btw, go wild and do whatever you want, but these people don't even know it's ooc, and that's a little troublesome. I've made some outlandish character decisions in the past but I at least KNEW they were not evidence based.

What that means for the fandom down the road I don't know, and its made a lot of discussion and analysis more shallow-- it's so hard outside of my SPHS friend group to find good breakdowns these days. I'm hoping maybe something will change, but who knows.

I love all the main 5 equally and think they all have strengths and weaknesses that are often over generalized in fandom (tho view Eric specifically from a well written/complex antagonists lens and not as an apologist. I think he’s a racist and sexist sob with occasional good traits that don’t otherwise eliminate the overall bad he does. I think he’s literally meant to be the main antagonist, just as Matt and Trey intend him to be.

Though the other main four (butters, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny)- I will always be their lawyer and apologist lmao. I can’t stand when people view a couple isolated episodes for any of those four to demonize them (they literally all have an equal screen time of shitty behavior so it pisses me tf off when some focus on one over the other as evidence of being ‘worse’. I genuinely think they’re all equal from a moral lens; just in different strengths and ways. South Park Music Headcanons

I am trying to figure out what kind of music everyone in SP would listen to for something so I wanted to get everyone’s opinions on it.

These are mine:

Stan- I’m going to be basic here and say he likes indie/alternative music and probably rock. I know that’s what a lot of people say but I feel like it’s true because it fits his personality. I think he listens to stuff like My Chemical Romance, Weathers (it’s a less common band but I swear they don’t have a SINGLE bad song and all their songs really fit Stan), Two Feet, Green Day, Sub Urban, Palaye Royale (definitely their earlier albums, I FREAKING LOVE THIS BAND), Arctic Monkeys, Mitski, Waterparks, FIDLAR, Younger Hunger (also a great lesser known band), BoyWithUke, Weezer, The Neighborhood, The Strokes. I have a lot of songs for Stan but I want to know if people agree.

Kyle- All I really have for him is Green Day and even then I'm not sure. I don’t know if he would like the songs Stan listens to or if he would hate them.

Kenny- He listens to pop songs like from The Weekend, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles and Maroon 5. Probably also bands like Panic! At The Disco, Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy. Maybe The Wrecks?? Maybe Queen?? OOH ADAM LAMBERT!! Also Maneskin. 

Cartman- He also listens to pop songs like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga (CANON!) but he also listens to rap songs (ALSO CANON!). I don’t like rap music that much but when I think of Cartman, I think of XXXTENTACION and Juice WRLD. Also Post Malone.

Craig - I have no idea. He probably also likes indie/alternative music but maybe not the same ones that Stan likes.

Tweek - Same thing, I have no idea. I like to think of him as a headbanger but then I think that loud rock music would make him anxious. But soft music doesn’t really fit him in my opinion. I have songs that I think match his personality but I’m not sure if he would actually like them or not.

Clyde - Clyde is the same as Kenny. He likes Ariana Grande, The Weekend, Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, … Also probably Olivia Rodrigo. He probably really likes boy bands like One Direction and The Backstreet Boys, also probably Justin Bieber. He probably wanted to be in a boyband with Craig, Token and Jimmy but they all said no lol

Token - I have no idea.

Jimmy - No idea. He probably likes Bo Burnham.

Butters - He likes soft music. He probably likes Cavetown. 

Wendy - I don’t know if she would like her but Penelope Scott??

Bebe - She’s the same as Kenny and Clyde. She likes pop music and boy bands. Maybe also country music. I don’t know much about country music but maybe Taylor Swift??

MY SP KIDS LGBTQ HCS (well some of em anyway)

Stan: pansexual, polyamorous and genderqueer (ik him being bi is more popular but as far as I’m concerned Stan the man is pan and polyam. And also not a man bc like, have you seen The Cissy?)

Kyle: bisexual, polyamorous and agender (I actually think Kyle’s more likely to be bi and Stan pan, bc Kyle is definitely the kind of person to give a lot of thought to what genders he’s attracted to while Stan’s like ‘hot people *barfs*’. The agender thing is because Human Kite is a gender-neutral kite alien, which honestly is kinda goals)

Kenny: pansexual and nonbinary (sometimes we’ve all just gotta be a kawaii princessu)

Butters/Marjorine: pansexual and genderfluid (he’s/she’s a bit more assertive about his/her gender than Kenny but will still totally smooch anyone given half a chance)

Tweek and Craig: gay (do not separate them)

Wendy/Wendyl: polysexual, polyamorous and genderfluid (2/3rds of this is already canon if you believe FBW, bless you devs)

Tolkien: bisexual (was tempted to say something not-cis bc of the bra bit from Professor Chaos but I’ll hold myself back)

Stan flushed and pressed himself deeper into the back of the couch.

“You…” He said, his voice soft. Kyle furrowed his brows, oblivious to the absolute fear Stan was feeling. “You’re just… really tall from this angle, that’s it.” He muttered. He knew that his lie was as transparent as a really clean window, but he couldn’t say what he was feeling. Kyle frowned, kneeling down next to the armrest.

“We’ll fix it. Its okay.” He said, keeping his voice soft to not scare him. Stan still flinched, and Kyle backed away slightly.

“What if we can’t fix it? That’s… I just, I don’t know. I’m worried. If my parents find this, they’ll actually kill me.” He whined. “This on top of all the other stuff we’ve done and I’ll be dead. And so will you! They’ll think we hijacked some super secret laboratory-“

“Hey.” Kyle placed his hands on either side of Stan, lowering himself to be even more level with him. “It’s okay. Nobody’s gonna find out about this. We’re gonna fix it before your parents get back. And I’m not gonna tell Cartman or Kenny, so unless you are, who’s gonna know?” He explained, sighing in relief when he noticed Stan relax.

“I didn’t do anything though.” He looked down at his socks. “I don’t know what made this happen.” He stuck out his arms, looking over them. His hands infront of the world reminded him of how small he really was in this moment. Kyle mumbled something incoherent, sitting on the ground instead of kneeling.

“What were you doing before it happened?” He asked. Stan glanced up at the ceiling, pressing his lips together. He dug his fingers into the couch to distract from the fact he was being stared at. How could something that happened so recently be lost in the back of his mind?

“I was just looking at you, and honestly my mind was blank. I kinda zoned out.” He said, resting his head on his hands. “I wish I knew. One second I was thinking about how I had the whole weekend to myself and the next my body was closing in on me.” He sighed, tilting his head back. Kyle looked away, not knowing what to do.

“If it happened for no reason, maybe we could wait it out. Maybe it’ll go away for no reason, and you’ll change back.” He said, a slight smile showing his hope. He looked back at Stan, who seemed to cower under his gaze. Kyle lowered his eyes and tilted his hand slightly. “Listen, I know it’s all weird and different and shit, but you kinda have to trust me. I’m not gonna let anything hurt you, let alone hurt you myself.” He said, cupping his fingers around the boy slightly, not actually touching him.

“I know. I’m just… You know.”

“Not really.” At that, Stan smiled, and Kyle echoed him, bringing his hand closer instinctively. Regret flooded through him as he saw the boy react, thinking full heatedly that he was gonna start freaking out. Instead, he just lightly wrapped his hands around Kyle’s thumb, lowering his head.

“It’s better than being stuck this size with Cartman.” Stan said softly, and they both giggled.

“Oh, dude, don’t make me think about him.”

This is a long one.

Pt 2

Cartman just will never learn how to drive. Ever. He knows he has other people to ferry him around.

In a similar vein, when that time rolls around (teenhood), Kenny legally can’t drive but he can drive. He just doesn’t have a licence. This persists until much later in life when he can financially support himself.

Stan begged/bribed Cartman to not harass Red for being a daywalker to keep the peace in his and Wendy’s relationship.

Whenever Wendy and Cartman need to sit down to talk out some sort of dispute, they do it over a pack of Oreo’s. They call this Oreo Time.

Kenny and Cartman play GTA together a lot.

Heidi is part Jewish on her mother’s side.

Cartman’s natural eye colour is brown. He has blue eyes, now.

Cartman is short by the time he’s fully grown (probably because of his weight), and has naturally brown hair and blue eyes. Kenny is the opposite, with blond hair and blue eyes, and is naturally Cartman’s favourite.

Cartman’s coat is plain red flannel (it’s the closest thing to fuzzy felt we can get), Stan’s is canvas, Kyle’s is tarpoon cloth, and Kenny’s is synthetic material (it’s like that smooth thin material that makes a high pitched whirry noise when you scratch it?? Cannot find the specific name for the life of me).

Tweek and Butters are cousins. Either through both of their mothers or through Butters’ dad and Tweek’s mom. Let me know which one you prefer.

Craig and Cartman’s hats are from the same store / brand.

Cartman and Kyle wear opposite colours on opposite pieces of clothing (is this a headcanon or observation? Who knows, I just want to point it out). Kyle has a green hat, contrasting Cartman’s red coat. Cartman has a (primarily) blue hat, contrasting Kyle’s orange coat. Kyle’s original gold-yellow t-shirt also compliments Cartman’s blue t-shirt, and pairs with Cartman’s yellow puff, brim, and gloves.

Cartman sometimes hums the Dreidal song to himself. Rarely will he sing it.

Carol and Stuart put Kenny in a separate room to Kevin because they didn’t anticipate a third kid. When Karen came along, they didn’t bother to displace one of them, so just stuck her in with one of them (Kevin) at random.

Kenny carries the gene for red hair.

Either (or both) Laura and Thomas have brown eyes. This is why Craig has black hair. (Relying on a quick google search for this one).

If Stan looks a lot like Randy as he gets older, right down to the eyes, Shelley looks like Sharon, but with Randy’s eyes.

Stan sometimes feels like the outsider in the group because not only do the other three hold biological keepsakes of the others (Kenny’s eyes –> Cartman; Cartman’s kidney –> Kyle), Kyle and Kenny (K’s) both wear the same shade of orange, and all three are called by unvoiced guttural (“kuh”) vocatives. He’s just Stan. He and Kenny have the same last initial, though.

Out of all the moms, Mrs. Tweek has the biggest tits. I’m sorry I don’t make these rules.

She and Richard fuck like rabbits too I think

While there’s a massive gap between how Stan is viewed and how Cartman is viewed, but out of Stan’s Gang, Stan is held in the lowest esteem just after Cartman. Wendy and his looks boost his popularity a bit, but it’s still rather low.

Kenny is held in the highest esteem by the way, because people know he just joins the guys and doesn’t really instigate.

Craig has alexithymia.

Clyde picked up some mannerisms, like speaking with little affect, from Craig.

Clyde was a mommy’s boy, but Betsy was always rather eccentric and pedantic.

I’m not sold on this but I have thought about Betsy having PCOS.

Maybe I’m biased but I like to think that if Clyde outright said the words “I don’t like Janice and I don’t want her in this house” / “I’m not ready for a stepmom”, I think Roger would adhere. Probably just me being biased.

Sharon hates being filmed, and if she sees either a video or photo of her she will immediately pat her hair and say “oh look at my hair there” or touch her face and go “oh my, I look godawful in that”.

Cartman flexes his ability to eat bacon on Kyle a lot.

Craig has a fear of dressing Stripe up in costumes. Tweek has suggested it, but Craig shot it down immediately.

Wonder Tweek’s costume is from Craig’s closet, and the reason his is shit is because he was too busy helping Tweek’s with his because Tweek found organising his own costume too stressful.

Randy taught Kenny how to swim in Kyle’s backyard blow up paddling pool.

Cartman is a weak ass swimmer.

Pt. 4 Big Break

Here we are at the news drop, this is what takes us into the actual plot line!! Woooooooo! Yall i love jimmy valmer, hes hilarious, there is use of y/n in here in kennys part gotta love having a weakness

Today you’re off work so you made a point to relax laying sprawled on the sofa in you and Jimmy’s shared home. Jimmy was out at a meeting with some venue owners to try and get a decent paying show so you weren’t expecting a call until a couple hours. You were proved wrong just as you were dozing off when your phone began buzzing from underneath you. You sat up and answered the call from Jimmy.

“Hello hello~” You softly said into the phone.

“Y/N!! GUESS WHOS OPENING FOR A SH-SHOW IN DENVER THIS W-WEEKEND!” You didn’t know it but he pulled the phone away from his face in preparation for your response. You screamed loud into the mic from pure joy and excitement for your best friend.

“NO FUCKING WAY JIM!!” He laughed knowing you’re just as psyched as he was, maybe more so.

“Yes-a-r-r-rooni!” You could easily hear the big smile he had on his face. “And Im i-inviting everyone from high school.” You could barely contain all your excitement about this show, let alone the new fact that you’ll see all your old friends from school.

“That’s good! Plenty of familiar faces to tease.” You let out an evil sounding laugh before it went back to normal at the sound of Jimmy’s. He filled you in on the rest of the details as you made quick work clearing your weekend. “Do you think everyone will show up?” You asked thinking of all the old friends you had, everyone you could think of had solid jobs now so you worried they wouldn’t make it.

“Everyone that matters will be there for sure!” Jimmy said now also thinking about who will show. In honesty he’s not sure who will actually join, but to him, even if there’s 10 folks he invited it would be just fine.

Stan was just arriving home when he got a text from an unsaved number.

‘Hey, this is Jimmy Valmer! I have a big show in Denver this Saturday and I’m inviting everyone from high school! I would love if you all can make it, hope to see you there!’

This message was attached to a link to buy tickets to the show. Stan smiled to himself before checking his schedule for this week. His weekend was clear so he went ahead and bought a ticket before heading inside. Kyle was watching the news on the couch scrolling through his phone.

“Dude he did it! Jimmy is makin it big time now!” Stan said putting his keys down and joining Kyle on the couch. “Did you get the text?”

“Huh? Oh about the show? Yeah.” Kyle said staring at the tv with the controller in hand.

“You gonna come? This is huge dude!” Stan said way more excited than Kyle is. Stan sees this show as an opportunity to reconnect with all his old friends, so he is jumping at this opportunity to see everyone. Of course he sees them on the rare occasions they pop in the coffee shop but this is different, he’s not on the clock and they wont be in a rush for work.

“No, I’ve got that family trip to jersey, I’m leaving Wednesday remember?” Stan deflated immediately at his friends words. Kyle and Ike are gonna be gone a whole week meaning there’s no chance of them making the show. “We wont be back until next Thursday.”

“Damn dude, guess I’m goin alone.” Stan sighed pulling out his phone to scroll idly.

“No, he sent that text to everyone, isn’t Tweek and Craig gonna go?” Kyle asked as he changed the channel on the tv. Stan shook his head.

“Nah, they work the weekends and they have their movie nights with Red and Scott on saturdays remember?” Stan corrected continuing on his phone. “You think Cartman’s going?” Stan asked looking over to Kyle who cringed at the name.

“Dude of course he is, his peak was when he could make fun of everyone.” Stan laughed at Kyles statement.

“That’s true, He’s gonna heckle the fuck out of Jimmy.” Stan scoffed. Kyle laughed this time.

“I wouldn’t doubt he’s coming up with a plan to get back at everyone who shows up right now.” Kyle rolled his eyes and then they were both laughing.

Kenny was jolted awake by pounding on his bedroom door. “Yea! Come in!” He shouted face down in his pillow. His roommate Butters barges into the room in a rush with his phone outstretched towards Kenny. He kneels next to him on the floor while shaking Kenny with his free hand.

“GET UP AND LOOK AT THIS!” Butters shouted full of disbelief and excitement. Kenny groaned and turned over onto his back turning to look at his friend. “HE MADE IT KEN!” Kenny squinted whipping the sleep from his eyes trying to decipher what Butters was showing him.

“Hi this is jimmy valmer. . . This Saturday. . . Hope to see you there.” Kenny whispered as he read the message. “That’s awesome! Are we going?” Kenny asked now giving a curious look to his friend. Butters pouted in response before putting his phone away.

“I work, but you HAVE to go. We gotta support our friend!” Butters said now gripping onto Kenny’s shirt dramatically. Kenny laughed at the display.

“How am I gonna get there? Kevin has my truck.” Kenny said with a laugh. Butters thought for all but 5 seconds before giving Kenny the answer.

“Easy, I drop you off before I work, I dont work until 2 so I can just drop you off early and pick you up right after I get off!” Butters said happily. Kenny sighed sitting back against the headboard.

“Why would I go alone, no one I know will be there?” Kenny said trying to avoid going without Butters. Butters gave him an exaggerated frown.

“He invited everyone from highschool, the whole gang will be there. Kyle, Stan, and Y/n too!” Butters said building his case. Kenny looked down at his hands before sighing again. “I hear Y/n is still single.” Butters says peering at him suggestively. Kenny glances up then back down to his hands.

“I thought they were dating Jimmy? They live together and all.” Kenny says crossing his arms now looking at Butters.

“Nope, just best friends living together.” Butters says resting his chin in his palm leaning onto Kenny’s bed.

“How do you know all this? What the hell sources did you have?” Kenny questions not trusting his friends words.

“They came into the shop last week like usual and we talked for a bit.” Butters says casually. “You’re going though.” Kenny looks at him in disbelief.

“What? I haven’t decided if I want to yet?” Kenny said and reached over for his phone.

“I decided for you, I bought your ticket already.” Butters said now gazing out the window. Kenny checked the message Jimmy sent before speaking again.

“Well return it, I don’t need to see all of them. I’m not going.” Kenny said putting his phone down crossing his arms again.

“Yea you are, the tickets are non-refundable and I know how your brain works. You wouldn’t let the money I spent go to waste.” Butters stood up going for the door. “Make sure you pick a nice outfit.”

“I hate that you know how my brain works. Fine I’ll go willingly.” Kenny says with an eye roll. Butters giggled closing the door behind him.

I last minute decided to add all 3 main characters pov instead of just yours, i think it came out very well, i didnt proofread much, but its gonna have to work! The next like 3 or 4 chapters are my favourites cause they really set the scene and tone well, i cant wait!!!!!

Fuck it uhhh. I’m watching Cock Magic (SP) for the millionth time and literally just flapped my hands while shouting “I’m normal!!!” so I’m gonna post my rambly MtG related thoughts to further prove how much of a liar I am (I’ll try to make this as accessible as possible to non-Magic players!!)

You fuckers (affectionate) literally asked for this!! it was one of the previously mentioned Kenny analysis posts :D

Okay first of all. The entire premise of the boys mainly SPECTATING Magic rather than playing is hilarious to me, especially because it’s evident that the remainder of the main five aren’t the most knowledgeable about the rules of the game (Kyle doesn’t know that tapped creatures can’t block for example). In my experience, non-magic players (especially non-TCG players in general) tend to be confused and disinterested, so the fact that the boys are seeing this as something cool to watch is honestly really cute. I like to think that Kenny had tried and failed to get his friends into Magic alongside him, so they knew the basics, but were too confused and frustrated from Kenny’s muffled explanations of the rules and were turned off by the perception of Magic being For Nerds to properly get into it. But Kenny hyped up the tournament SO much to make it sound cool, so the boys decide to go along with him to cheer him on. They find themselves genuinely interested, albeit a still a little confused, but seeing Kenny take people down with sheer strategy in a game that can heavily rely on how much money you’re willing to spend IS badass!

The setting. Ohhhh my god the setting can we talk about the setting.

This looks straight out of my own game store and I’m not exaggerating. The little war paints section especially, oh my god. The placement is EXACTLY the same. It’s a love letter to real game stores and I am here for it.

We see mana symbols throughout the episode, in banners around the store and on cards, but they don’t quite match up to the real MtG mana symbols and colors, shown below.

In the episode, black mana is represented with a triangle instead of a skull, and white (usually shown yellow in color, but that’s what it’s called!) is represented with a meteor instead of a sun.

Based on this, we can observe that Kenny is playing a blue and black deck in this first MtG scene!

This might have some significance if you wanna be overanalytical like me. Each combination of mana colors in magic has a set of character traits and strategies associated with it. (To name a few:) Blue is associated with a thirst for knowledge, being cold and calculating, counterspells, and trickery. Black is associated with self-indulgence, determination, death and reanimation, and destruction. Together, they represent secrecy, manipulation, counterintelligence, and trickery. Blue/black decks often make their opponents decks work against them. Black mana is an obvious choice for Kenny because of his association with death and revival from it, and I like to think this is him learning to grow more comfortable with his curse by bringing a symbol of it into a hobby. We've seen him embrace his curse by sacrificing himself multiple times (especially while as Mysterion) and this is another aspect of that! [Kenny, returning a card from his graveyard to the battlefield: wow just like me fr /j] Blue fits Kenny quite well emphasizing how much of a strategist he is, outwitting his opponents and using all resources he can to make a strong deck on a budget.

The above behind-the-scenes image of several card assets includes a basic land (staple cards that provide players with mana, resources used to cast spells), but in the episode, we see cards with just their respective mana symbol on them, referred to as "mana cards".
