I’m glad that my dad and I get along better than we used to, but lately he’s been sending me more elaborate religious gifts than usual and I feel bad cause I’m… uh… definitely not going to use them…?

(At least he sends me some secular gifts too.)

Like, for Christmas he sent me one of those plug-in devotional candles with Jesus on it, and I was like “oh, cute… but ok. Well, I don’t think those are too expensive, at least.”

But now for my birthday yesterday he sent me a huge-ass framed canvas print of the Divine Mercy Jesus. Which I don’t even think I’d have wall space for even if I was still Catholic. :| And that CAN’T have been too cheap.

I just prefer when he sent me that nice-smelling monk-crafted soap. It’s so nice on my skin; send me more of that. x3

(But at least he’s stopped sending my spouse gifts in the form of Catholic propaganda books, on topics such as why Catholicism is the truth, or why communists are agents of the devil, or why voting Democrat will send you to hell, so uh… progress?)

I have a hard time understanding aromanticism (if that’s the correct word) like not liking sex that I can get behind but romance? Like isn’t romance just another word for love? Isn’t every relationship like friendships inherently romantic? Like do aros not feel that warm weird feeling when they are around loved ones?? What do they mean by romance? Doesn’t all life experience love? Or is it wrong to view love as a singular thing? Like I don’t differentiate between love for family friends or romantic partners it’s all the same love for me.

I can’t imagine a lack of romantic feelings like it seems so ingrained into life itself that people have feelings for each other. Am I missing something?

I just saw someone straight up say they’re afraid that show fans who haven’t read the books are going to take over and dominate the fandom and they’re afraid that their memories of the books are going to get overridden by memories of the show because of new show fans, and that’s a good reason to gatekeep.
