How To Finally Shift If You’ve Been Trying For 2+ Years
⚠️ Little warning before we begin: don’t get scared off! I might sound a little negative at first, but that’s not the point of this post. My goal is for you to reach the end of this and think “Oh, I’m definitely going to shift to my DR now!”
Having said that:
If you’ve been on your shifting journey for two or more years, doing methods, reprogramming your mind, consuming advice, maintaining a mental diet, manifesting, forcing assumptions, trying to create assumptions, etc, etc⏤and you still haven’t shifted your awareness to your DR, maybe it’s time to stop trying to make yourself shift.
Stop trying to shift.
Stop trying to trigger a shift.
Maybe the thing you need at this point in your journey is to stop trying to make yourself shift.
And I’ll explain why by asking you a question:
In these two, three, four, however many years of effort, don’t you think you would have shifted by now?
Think about it. You’ve oversaturated your mind with the intention to shift. You do all your methods correctly. You try to convince yourself that you're already in your DR. You feel symptoms. Sometimes you even "mini shift." And yet… you're still here. Doing the same things. Searching for advice that leads you right back to doing the same thing:
Trying to shift. Trying to trigger a shift. Trying to shift your awareness.
Trying.
Trying confidently.
Trying hopelessly.
Trying angrily.
…Trying.
If you were going to shift by inducing a shift, triggering a shift, or successfully shifting with a method, it would have happened by now.
“But Clover, I still have a lot of soul-searching and work to do! I just need to put in more effort!”
Awesome! Then click away, because this advice isn’t for you. I’m not talking to you.
I’m talking to the person who is tired. Who is drained. Who, despite applying all the sage advice on the internet, is just burnt out from the process of shifting.
And if that sounds like you, let me repeat: Maybe you need to stop actively trying to shift.
Your work is done. And that’s a good thing.
You’ve spent years ingraining the idea of shifting into your subconscious. You’ve impressed the intention to shift so deeply that it’s already there. Congratulations! You did all the mental work. It’s done.
Your DR is already yours. You already have the ability to shift.
So stop trying to trigger it. Stop trying to make yourself shift.
Let go of the “making yourself shift” process.
“Oh my god, she’s going to tell me to take a break.”
LMAO you thought.
Yes, breaks are excellent. They help reset and recharge your mindset. I always encourage taking breaks if you need them. But let’s be honest. Sometimes, even the thought of taking a break feels just as mentally exhausting as staying on your shifting journey.
“Oh no, she’s going to tell me to do nothing at all.”
Once again, you thought.
Instead, you’re going to capitalize on the fact that you’ve already done all this work. The intention to shift is always, always, always in your mind. Your subconscious knows you want to shift. Just like it knows how to shift your awareness.
So, the next time you lay down to do your shifting process...
Instead of trying to shift…
Instead of trying to induce a shift, induce the void, or force an outcome…
Give yourself exactly what you want.
Give yourself the feeling of being in your DR.
Drop the conscious, active intention to shift because your subconscious already has it covered. You don’t need to keep hammering it in. Instead, focus on inducing the emotions you would feel if you were in your DR.
Imagine waking up in your DR. Imagine being there. Imagine spending time with your DR friends, your S/O, whatever makes you happiest. Personally, I lean toward wake-up scenarios. You can listen to music, meditate, visualize, even do a shifting method if you enjoy it—but instead of doing it with the intention to shift, you’re doing it just to give your body and mind the feeling of being there. The happiness, the calm, the excitement, whatever it is for you.
This does not mean you’re lying there thinking, “Okay, this is going to make me shift.”
No. No, no, no, no, no.
Drop the idea of shifting entirely. That process is done.
And I’ll say it one more time:
If you were going to shift by inducing a shift, making yourself shift, or triggering a shift, it would have happened already.
So let it go. Drop it.
Induce the emotions of being in your DR, and then let go. Once you do that, go to sleep. Or go about your day. That’s it.
So why does this actually make you shift?
Because feeling is the language of the subconscious.
Think about it: The moments in your life that shaped you the most weren’t just things you thought. They were things you felt deeply. Joy, fear, excitement, grief. Emotions imprint on the subconscious. That’s why certain smells, songs, or places instantly bring back vivid memories. Because your subconscious records experiences based on emotions, not logic.
So when you stop trying to shift and instead just focus on feeling like you’re in your DR, your subconscious responds by aligning your awareness to match that emotional state.
Because to the subconscious, there’s no difference between imagination and reality. When you visualize something vividly enough, your brain fires the same neurons as if you were actually experiencing it. Athletes use this trick to enhance performance. Musicians use it to refine their skills. And guess what? It works for shifting too.
When you let go of the effort and just immerse yourself in the emotions of already being there, you bypass the resistance that trying creates.
And that’s when the shift happens.
It happens because you stopped forcing it.
It happens because your subconscious already knows how to shift, you just needed to get out of its way.
So, again, drop the struggle. Drop the effort. Stop trying to shift.
The more precise or perfect you want the shift to be, the more pressure you put on yourself. Your brain rebels against that because rigid control drains energy.
Remember this:
High Emotion + Low Attachment = Flow.
When you feel something strongly but aren’t clinging to the result, your subconscious has room to act. This is why sometimes, when you care less or focus on something in a passing, emotional way, it manifests easily.
This is why people can give up on shifting entirely and shift. This is why people let go of the need to shift and shift. This is why you shift without meaning to.
You: “No, I can’t do this! I need to keep trying to shift or else my subconscious will think I don’t want to shift anymore!”

Yeah, I’m the lucky one
Summary: Hiding it when you're sick from your boyfriend is one thing, but hiding it from your clingy boyfriend is a whole other challenge.
Reader x Lando Norris
Genre: fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The paddock is alive with energy, buzzing with anticipation, the sound of engines roaring in the distance, and the hum of the crowd outside.
Lando is in his element, calm yet radiating an excitement that’s palpable.
The focus in his eyes is like nothing I’ve ever seen, and it’s clear that today matters more to him than most.
The weight of the race, the pressure of the expectations, and the fire in his heart are all simmering beneath the surface.
It's a mix of raw determination and adrenaline, and it brings out the best in him.
But me? Well, I feel the complete opposite.
I woke up feeling off, my head pounding and my body aching with a fever I couldn't shake.
I knew I should stay in bed, but I couldn’t. Not today.
Not with everything he’s worked for. I couldn’t let something as trivial as being sick get in the way of him having the best race of his career.
He’s been talking about this day for weeks, getting ready for it with an intensity that I’ve only seen in the world of motorsport.
But as I made my way through the paddock, trying my best to act normal, I felt the weight of my own discomfort pulling me down.
I’ve been silently counting the minutes until I can just crawl into a quiet corner and hide.
But the last thing I want is for him to see me like this. He’d immediately worry, go into panic mode, and lose focus.
Lando, with his big heart, would put everything aside just to take care of me, and I don’t want to do that to him.
Not today. Today is about him.
As I stand next to his family, making small talk with his friends, I feel dizzy.
The lights are a little too bright, and the sounds a little too loud.
I try to steady myself, offering a weak smile whenever someone glances my way, but the effort feels exhausting.
Lando’s mum catches my eye, and for a brief moment, I see a flicker of concern in her expression.
But she doesn’t say anything, just gives me a warm, reassuring smile. I’m grateful, but I can tell she knows something’s off.
Then, out of nowhere, I feel a familiar hand on my back. A small shiver runs down my spine as I turn to face Lando, and I instantly feel a warmth spread through me, despite the fever still creeping in.
“Hey baby, you okay?” His voice is soft, but there’s a sharpness in his eyes, like he’s always aware of everything around him, especially me.
I don’t want to worry him. I can’t.
So I give him a smile that’s more practiced than I’d like to admit,
“Yeah, just a little tired. Big day, huh?”
Lando raises an eyebrow, clearly not buying it.
He studies me for a second, his gaze lingering a little longer than usual, his hand gently squeezing my back.
The touch is warm, comforting. “You sure? You don’t look so great.”
“I’m fine,” I assure him, leaning in to press a soft kiss to his cheek.
“You focus on the race. I’m just here to cheer you on.”
Lando hesitates, his lips pressed into a thin line as if trying to gauge if I’m really okay.
But then he nods slowly, though his concern doesn’t quite vanish.
“Alright… but if you need anything, you let me know, okay?”
His voice is almost a whisper, like he’s trying not to give away just how much he cares.
“I will,” I promise, trying to keep my tone light and convincing.
But as he walks away to prepare for the race, a sense of loneliness settles over me.
The noise around me feels overwhelming, and the crowd only amplifies the ache in my head.
I find a quiet corner, away from the chaos, hoping to just breathe for a moment.
I didn't realize that I had been hiding away for a while already.
But before I know it, Lando’s voice cuts through the distance.
“You’ve been hiding from me.”
I turn to see him standing there, leaning against the wall, arms crossed with a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
His presence alone seems to calm the storm inside me.
“I wasn’t hiding,” I protest weakly, though my voice cracks just slightly.
“Just… taking a break.”
Lando raises an eyebrow, clearly not buying it.
“Taking a break from what? From me?”
He takes a step closer, his hand reaching out to gently touch my cheek, his fingers warm against my skin.
I close my eyes for a second, leaning into the touch, even though I feel like I might collapse at any moment.
“From the chaos of the paddock,” I admitted softly, my voice barely above a whisper.
His gaze softens, the teasing in his eyes fading. He steps in closer, his body brushing against mine as he gently cups my face with both hands, forcing me to meet his eyes.
“Hey…” His voice is tender now, a deep, comforting lull.
“Are you really feeling okay love?"
I swallow hard, the lump in my throat suddenly unbearable.
“Yes, don't worry Lan. I'm fine.”
I whisper, my voice slightly breaking as I fight the urge to lean on him completely.
I stare up at him, feeling a mix of love and pain.
I don’t want to be the one who holds him back, but I can’t deny how much I crave the support and warmth he gives me without even thinking.
Lando lowers his hands, but not without giving me one last comforting touch, his fingers brushing my wrist.
“You need to rest,” he says firmly, but there’s a hint of playfulness behind his words now.
“I’m not going to let you make it through today without me taking care of you at least once.”
I laugh softly, despite the dizziness still swirling in my head.
“I’m fine, Lando. You go be amazing out there.”
He looks at me, his eyes soft but filled with determination. “I will be. But only because you’re here.”
Before I can say anything else, he leans in, planting a gentle kiss on my forehead.
“I’ll be right back, okay? I’ll make sure to get at least P3 for you.”
And with that, he’s gone, disappearing into the crowd of engineers and teammates.
But the moment he’s out of sight, I feel my energy drain completely.
Regardless of how I felt I still made my way to the rest so I could support Lando and be there for him.
Tumblr media
Everywhere I look, there’s movement, excitement, and a sense of urgency.
Lando’s already suited up and surrounded by his team, getting ready to focus on the race that could mean everything for his career.
I’m supposed to be the one cheering him on, being his support, his calm, but instead, all I can do is try to survive the overwhelming wave of heat coursing through me.
Every few seconds, my head spins, my chest feels like it's on fire, and the nausea rolls in like a tide.
It’s getting harder to keep it together, but I’m trying. I can’t let anything distract him.
I can't make this his problem today, not when he’s been working so hard for this moment.
I take a seat next to Max and Pietra, hoping the three of us can keep the mood light and give Lando a little peace before he heads into the race.
I force myself to laugh at Max's joke about the weather, but it comes out more like a wheeze.
My throat feels like it’s coated in something dry and scratchy, and each breath feels like I’m not getting enough air.
Max doesn’t notice, but Pietra does.
She’s always been that way, observant, kind, and so very perceptive.
I’ve always admired how in tune she is with people.
She shifts in her seat beside me, her eyes narrowing as she studies my face.
“You okay, Y/n?” she asks gently, her voice laced with concern.
“You look a little pale.”
I immediately try to put on a smile, but it feels like the most exhausting thing I’ve done all day.
“I’m fine, really,” I say, hoping I can convince her.
“Just a little tired. I didn’t sleep well last night.”
Pietra doesn’t buy it, not even for a second.
She leans in closer, her gaze steady as she inspects my face, my trembling hands.
“You sure?” she presses, her brow furrowing.
“You don’t look fine. Maybe you should lay down for a bit?”
The room suddenly feels like it’s closing in on me.
The dizziness that had been simmering beneath the surface is starting to take hold, and it’s all I can do to keep my eyes focused on her.
I swallow hard, trying to push the wave of nausea down, but it’s impossible to ignore now.
I nod weakly, doing my best to stay composed.
“I’m okay, Pietra. Just... a little dizzy. I think I’ll sit down for a moment.”
Max, still glued to his phone, glances up briefly, probably sensing the shift in the air.
His eyes scan me quickly before he leans closer to Pietra, muttering something under his breath, probably about how pale I look.
I’m about to wave it off, to reassure them both that it’s nothing, when Pietra’s soft hand touches my shoulder.
It’s warm and grounding, her touch gentle but insistent.
“No, you’re not okay, Y/n,” she says firmly.
“You’re not fooling me. You need to go back to the hotel and rest. Max and I will handle everything here. Don’t worry about Lando. He’ll understand. He doesn’t need to know right now, and you’re not helping him by pretending you’re fine.”
My heart clenches at her words. I don’t want to leave. I don’t want to make him worry.
He’s about to race, about to compete for something so important to him.
The last thing I want is to make this about me. But Pietra’s expression leaves no room for argument.
Her hand squeezes my shoulder, and I feel a wave of guilt hit me hard.
“I... I can’t just leave,” I whisper, my voice shaky.
“I don’t want him to—”
“Y/n,” Pietra interrupts, her voice soft but full of authority.
“Lando will be fine. He’ll be more upset if you stay here, pretending to be okay when you’re not. Let us take care of everything. He doesn’t need the distraction. He needs you to get better, not to keep pretending.”
I shake my head, still fighting it. “But he’s going to think I don’t care.”
“He knows you care. You don’t have to prove it by running yourself into the ground,” she says, her tone firm yet reassuring.
“You need to listen to your body. Max and I can make sure everything’s fine here.”
I hesitate for a moment, my vision swimming in and out of focus, and then I feel it, the dizziness getting worse.
My stomach turns violently, and I barely suppress a gasp. Before I can protest, Pietra’s up and at my side, helping me stand.
“Max,” she calls out to him, her voice tinged with urgency.
Max looks up from his phone, his attention now fully on us. He doesn’t need to ask questions.
Without a word, he stands, motions to security, and gestures for them to clear a path.
“We’re getting you back to the hotel,” Max says, his voice gentle but decisive.
“No arguments.”
I open my mouth to protest, to tell them I’m fine, but the dizziness overtakes me again.
I feel my legs wobble, my knees threatening to give way beneath me. The nausea is so strong now that I can’t hold it back any longer.
My head feels like it’s filled with cotton, and my heart races as I fight to keep everything together.
“Okay,” I whisper, too weak to resist any longer. “Okay, let’s go.”
Max’s arm wraps around my shoulder, steadying me as Pietra follows closely behind.
I glance over my shoulder at the paddock, seeing the hustle and bustle of the team preparing for the race.
And even though I want nothing more than to stay and support Lando, I know Pietra’s right, he doesn’t need to see me like this.
As we make our way out of the paddock, past the busy crew and excited fans, the world seems to blur again.
All I can think about is Lando, how much he’s worked for this, and how much I wish I could be there cheering him on.
But right now, all I can do is focus on getting back to the hotel and trying to heal.
“Everything’s going to be fine,” Pietra murmurs, sensing my anxiety.
“Lando will understand. We’ll make sure he stays focused.”
“Thank you,” I whisper back, squeezing her hand.
Max looks over at me, offering a reassuring smile.
“No problem, Y/n. We’ve got you.”
And as they guide me toward the exit, the sound of the engines roaring to life in the distance feels far away, almost like a distant memory.
All I can focus on is putting one foot in front of the other and hoping that, by the time Lando crosses the finish line, I’ll be okay.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile,
The race was intense, there was no other way to describe it.
Lando’s heart was pounding, his breath coming in quick bursts as he fought to stay focused on the track ahead.
Each corner, each straightaway felt like it mattered more than the last.
The roar of the engine under him, the vibration in his hands as he gripped the wheel,it was like the world was screaming at him to push harder, to get everything he had into every lap.
And he did.
Adrenaline was coursing through his veins, the world outside of his car becoming a blur of colors and sounds.
But amidst the chaos, there was something else tugging at his mind, something he couldn’t quite shake.
Just before the race started, he had caught sight of Y/n sitting among their friends, looking beautiful as always, but something was... off.
Maybe it was the way she had looked at him, her tired eyes betraying a sense of exhaustion that didn’t quite match the energy of the day.
Or how quiet she seemed, like a flicker of something hidden behind her usual smile. He couldn’t pinpoint it, but something wasn’t right.
But there was no time for that.
He pushed those thoughts away, focusing back on the race, his hands steady on the wheel as he navigated the track with everything he had.
He couldn’t afford to think about anything but the next corner, the next lap, the next move.
And when he crossed the finish line, the elation of victory should’ve been enough to make everything feel perfect.
After all, he had gotten P2.
The cheers, the confetti, the roar of the crowd, it was everything he’d been working for, everything he’d dreamed of.
But in the midst of it all, he couldn’t shake the nagging thought of Y/n.
His gaze searched the area, instinctively looking for her.
He was surrounded by teammates, sponsors, friends, but all he wanted in that moment was to see her smile, to know she was okay.
He scanned the area again, but she wasn’t there.
Not where he had left her. His stomach tightened, his mind racing. Something wasn’t right.
Lando quickly moved through the crowd, dodging everyone on his way, his eyes darting between faces, searching for any sign of her.
He was so focused on finding her, he almost didn’t see Max and Pietra standing off to the side.
When he finally noticed them, his heart skipped a beat. You weren't there.
Lando’s pace quickened as he approached them, his voice betraying the worry he couldn’t hide.
“Where’s Y/n?” he asked, his words coming out sharper than he intended.
Pietra exchanged a glance with Max before she sighed, the look on her face telling Lando everything he needed to know.
"She wasn’t feeling well," she said softly, her eyes clouded with concern.
"We had to send her back to the hotel."
Lando’s chest tightened, a heavy weight settling over him.
His pulse quickened, the sudden rush of guilt and worry clouding his thoughts.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” The words slipped out before he could stop them, his voice rising slightly, not in anger, but in genuine confusion.
Max stepped forward, his expression calm but serious.
"Mate she didn’t want to distract you. She said it was important not to take your focus away from the race."
Lando’s mind was spinning now, the elation of his victory evaporating as quickly as it had come.
Guilt was flooding him, he couldn’t believe Y/n had been struggling, that she’d hidden it from him.
She’d always been there for him, supportive, understanding, even when he was caught up in his own world.
And now, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he’d let her down.
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself, but the weight of the situation was suffocating.
He didn’t know what to say.
All he could think about was how she had been sitting there, probably feeling miserable, and he hadn’t even noticed.
The race, his career, all of it felt so insignificant compared to the thought of Y/n being alone and sick.
“Why didn’t she just tell me? I would’ve understood. I could’ve—”
Pietra stepped forward, her hand gently resting on his arm, grounding him in the moment.
“Lando, she didn’t want you to worry. She knew how much today meant to you. She didn’t want to take that away from you.”
Max nodded in agreement.
“She’s always there for you. But she’s not the type to let herself be a distraction, not when you’re in the zone like that. You know how she is, she cares about you more than anything, but she didn’t want to pull you away from your focus.”
Lando let out a long breath, feeling like the weight of the world was pressing down on his chest.
“I should’ve noticed,” he muttered, his gaze dropping to the ground.
"I should’ve been paying more attention."
"You’re not a mind reader, Lando," Pietra said, her voice calm but firm.
Lando realized that she was right.
He quickly greeted the rest of his family and did some other duties before changing and heading back to the hotel.
Tumblr media
Lando arrived at the hotel room, his body still buzzing from the race, but his mind consumed by a different kind of worry.
As soon as he entered, the first thing he did was quietly close the door behind him.
The soft hum of the air conditioning and the dim light from the lamps were the only sounds in the room.
His eyes immediately fell on your figure, still asleep, your peaceful face glowing softly under the sheets.
The sight of you, so vulnerable yet so beautiful, made his heart ache with both affection and guilt.
He quietly pulled a chair from the small desk and sat down beside the bed, never taking his eyes off you.
He wanted to be close to his girl, but he didn’t want to wake you.
He knew you needed rest, but the worry of the day, the worry about you, hadn’t let up.
He reached out, brushing a lock of hair from your face.
His fingers lingered there for a second before he let out a soft breath, resting his chin in his hand, his elbow on his knee.
He could almost hear the questions running through his mind, wondering why you hadn’t told him what you had been feeling.
He could feel the weight of your absence, the quiet ache in his chest from not knowing exactly what had been going on with you.
The minutes seemed to stretch on, each tick of the clock amplifying his thoughts.
He hated this uncertainty, this feeling that something had been left unsaid.
Then, after what felt like forever, a soft groan escaped from your lips, and Lando’s attention snapped to her immediately.
Your eyes fluttered open, blinking against the dim light in the room.
Your gaze slowly focused on him, confusion settling on her face as she took in her surroundings.
Lando watched her with a mix of relief and concern, his heart lightening at the sight of you waking up but still heavy with the questions that lingered in his mind.
"Hey, sleepyhead," Lando said softly, his voice full of warmth and affection.
My vision cleared, and I smiled sleepily at him.
Lando’s heart squeezed.
"You’re awake. I’ve been here waiting for you to wake up for, like, ages now." He chuckled softly, though his eyes were still filled with concern.
"But seriously… why didn’t you tell me?"
I sighed, feeling the weight of everything pressing on me.
My hand reached for his, finding his fingers weakly, and I squeezed them, my fingers trembling a bit.
"I didn’t want to be a burden," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I didn’t want to ruin your day or take away from the race. It was important to you. I just… I didn’t want to distract you."
Lando smiled at me softly, his thumb gently stroking the back of my hand.
"You’re never a burden, Y/n." He looked at me with such sincerity, it made my heart ache in the best way.
"You are always my priority, okay? Not the race, not the fans, not the win. You. Always."
I felt my heart flutter at his words, my eyes softening as I looked back at him.
The tears I’d been holding back threatened to spill, and I could feel them welling up.
Being sick just makes people extra emotional, give it a break yeah?
"I’m sorry," I murmured, my voice breaking slightly.
Lando shook his head, his heart aching.
He leaned closer, cupping my cheek gently, his thumb brushing over my skin.
"You don’t have to apologize," he whispered.
"You never have to hide anything from me, especially not when it comes to you."
I felt the weight of his words, the tenderness in his touch, and I wanted so badly to just melt into him.
I was so grateful for him, for the way he always made me feel safe, loved, and heard.
Lando sat beside me on the bed, leaning back just enough to grab the water and medicine he’d set out earlier.
"You need to drink this," he said softly, his voice gentle but firm.
"Get some rest, and I’ll be right here with you. Just take it easy."
I hesitated for a moment, but then reached for the glass of water he held out to me.
My fingers were still shaking slightly, but I took it from him gratefully.
There was a small, tired smile on my lips as I drank, and Lando’s eyes never left me.
He was watching me closely, making sure I was okay. It felt nice to be looked after this way.
After I finished the water, Lando sat back down next to me again, his hand finding mine once more.
"You don’t ever have to hide something like that from me, okay?" he said, his voice soft but serious.
"If something’s wrong, you have to tell me. Promise me you’ll tell me next time."
I looked up at him, my eyes full of emotion, and I nodded slowly.
The tears I’d been holding back finally spilled over, and I felt a few of them slide down my cheeks.
Before I could say anything, Lando quickly wiped them away with his thumb, his touch light, tender.
"I’m sorry," I whispered again, my voice barely audible.
He slightly laughed, "You're such a crybaby when you're sick babe."
Lando leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead, his lips lingering there for a moment.
"You don’t have to apologize," he said, his voice full of love and affection.
"I love you, baby. I love you, and that’s all that matters." His voice was quiet but strong, filled with reassurance.
I pulled him closer, resting my head against his chest, letting out a small, exaggerated sigh.
"Mmm, this is the best pillow ever," I mumbled, half-laughing, half-groaning in exhaustion.
Lando wrapped his arms around me, pulling me in tighter.
His chin rested on top of my head, and he chuckled softly.
"You come first," he said with a mock-serious tone, trying to sound all deep and dramatic.
"Always."
I snuggled in a little closer, feeling his warmth.
"Oh, I know now," I said, glancing up at him with a grin.
"You’re basically my personal butler, aren’t you? Always there when I need you."
He let out a dramatic gasp. "But of course! My whole existence is to serve you, my queen."
I rolled my eyes, fighting back a laugh.
"Thank you for being here," I said, the words half-sweet, half-teasing.
Lando smirked, pressing a kiss to my hair.
"Please don't cry again... and well yeah, where else would I be? I’m not going anywhere."
Then, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he added,
"Besides, you’ve got me wrapped around your finger. You know that, right?"
I couldn’t help but laugh lightly, feeling him grin against the top of my head.
"Oh, I know," I said, playfully tapping his chest.
"You're my big soft marshmallow. I practically own you."
Lando chuckled, his arms tightening around me. "You absolutely do. And you’re not even sorry about it."
I smirked, rolling my eyes. "Well, I am your number one priority, aren’t I?"
His eyes sparkled with affection, and he pulled me a little closer.
"You’re my number one everything, Y/n. No competition."
I snorted, unable to help the grin that spread across my face.
"Good. Glad we’re clear on that."
As we sat there, wrapped up in each other, the world outside felt miles away.
All that mattered was us, his heartbeat, my tired sighs, and the way we fit together like we’d always been meant to.
For a moment, everything else faded, and all I could think was: Yeah, I’m the lucky one.
The end

The smell of cigars filled your home: you never thought you would deliberately find yourself smoking.
But there you were, looking at the cloudy skyline while you threw out the unhealthy smoke.
Your phone rang and you pulled it out of your pocket.
The ninth call of the day. Three times three is the charm.
“What the fuck do you want?” You neutrally ask, ignoring the beating of your heart.
“…y/n? Thank goddess you’re answering” You roll your eyes. “We need to talk, there’s a lot you-“
“Jeong-won, I don’t want to talk about anything with you” The exasperated tone in your voice doesn’t go unnoticed by him, which makes him feel even more stressed out. “In fact, I don’t want you to keep calling me. I don’t want you messaging me. I don’t want to have your follow on social media. I don’t want to hear your music in the clubs. I don’t want to ever fucking see your face again”
“Please, y/n. I don’t deserve to explain myself but-“
“I told you, you only had to pay for that dinner and forget about me. I suppose you didn’t mend things with your wife…” you abruptly cut him off, watching the smoke of the cigar fly out of your place.
“It’s complicated…” he sounds tired, sad and pathetic.
“Yeah… Everything’s that way with you. I just didn’t want to see it” you spit out, hanging up, leaving him to make a mess over the deadline.
You didn’t know how, but you would try everything just to forget him. But when you get out of the apartment the first thing you notice is the public trash can.
There lies the flower bouquet that appeared at your door three days ago. It had been Jeong-won’s first attempt to say sorry.
But so far it wasn’t working.
Three weeks into trying to move on. The first days felt like walking throwing a dark alleyway with no return. Tears always find a way to run out of your eyes, but you couldn’t deny, that you felt better.
Your friends helped a lot. Seoun-mi was the only one who said that if Jeong-won insisted, you could let him explain himself. Ruby and Jade immediately said no.
The spring was right around the corner. The rain was slowly coming to an end. The coats were being replaced with sweaters and cardigans. Even the sun cooperated, warming enough to make you go out to run.
Jeong-won crossed the street to walk towards his car. He had submitted a mini EP of music, expected to release mid-spring.
The city looked active, almost as if everyone had been trapped by the winter. He pulled out the keys to his car when he looked up.
His feet dragged him away, noticing a woman jogging down the street.
His face turned in awe after realizing it was you. Your matching grey tracksuit was hard to miss. He remembered you mentioned you were asthmatic, he wondered if you carried your inhalator.
“Y/N!” Jeong-won couldn’t care less if everyone stared at him as if he was insane. He started running hoping to get your attention.
His heart started beating so fast, the rush of seeing your face again, the hope of having you by his side again.
But that didn’t happen, you didn’t even listen. Music was playing so loud through your wireless headphones.
Jeong-won stopped running. He stared at your blurred vision and sighed in dismay.
His phone rang and he answered, still looking at you.
“Are you busy?” In-ji asked.
“No. I’m going home…” the man answered.
As the desperation started to burn you, the need to go out also grew stronger.
Ruby and Seoun-mi had seminars, and Jade had a meeting with her major advisor.
The outcome? You dancing all alone in a club.
You couldn’t go to the same one where you used to go. That’s where you met Jeong-won, it was too painful.
But as the alcohol sinks in, you start to feel tipsy, alerting you to stop drinking.
For a second you thought it was already too late but Han Jeong-won was actually there.
He gently pushed people to come to you.
There isn’t even time to feel angry, nervous, or panicked.
“What are you doing here?” You ask loudly.
“I came with a friend…” he admits, looking hopeful.
When you try to sneak away, Jeong-won grabs your wrist and pushes you against his chest. Only to then kiss you.
In his arms, you felt safe.
With his kisses, you felt cherished.
The man who urgently smashed his lips with yours in the middle of the dance floor while music blasted from the speakers was the love of your life.
He couldn't resist the temptation. Couldn't miss the chance and needed to let you know he always loved you. That everything was true.
"Please, believe me..." he pleaded, holding your hands.
"Fuck you, Jeong-Won"
Frivolously, you leave the taste of poison on his lips. His hand tried to grab yours again, but you slipped, leaving him.
Like you had already done before.
But it didn't make it easier, because tears started falling down the first step out of the club.
And in the middle of the cold night, you slip into your coat and start a quiet walk towards home.
You wished you knew he was mourning a life he had before you.
Caffè Americano…
The smell fills your nostrils and the warmth of the cup soothes the cold of your hands. Too many thoughts have run through your head over the days. And it was very rushed to say you were over Jeong-won. Walking through the same streets you once walked while feeling in love was devastating, as dramatic as it sounded.
But it’s a good day. You can feel like you are reaching peacefulness and it’s enough.
It’s been a month and a half since you last saw him. The world is not fresh, but it’s still open.
You walk out of the coffee shop, your boots sound with every step you take and the cool air makes the very few cherry blossoms in the trees fall.
Your eyes scan the street; everyone is just there living.
When would you start feeling like yourself again?
Apparently not at that moment. After coming down the little steps of the coffee shop, you look up and meet two people talking, just inches away.
Why was life so cruel? Why do you have to meet your ex-boyfriend and his wife right then and there?
They feel someone standing in their eyes, but they try to act so normal, like you hadn’t seen them. You start walking away. With firm steps and a well-hidden urge to run as well.
His hair looked the same, but his face looked less tired. She looked younger if that was even possible, with longer hair and more casual clothes.
Jeong-won and In-ji stare at each other awkwardly.
“Go after her” she softly tells him. Jeong-won stares back at her with unease before turning back his attention to you.
He knew you wanted to run away the moment you saw them.
“We already met once. What if we met again and she’s in the middle once again?” He can’t deny the anxiety growing as you stop waiting for the traffic lights to change.
“Jeong-won, perhaps we were really never meant to be together…” his face almost turns into a childish pout.
But maybe… In-ji was right.
She was kind, supportive and caring. She would’ve been a great wife. But their marriage started as a contract, Jeong-won never knew her completely.
He never felt the same way he did with you.
“We couldn’t even say ‘I love you’ to each other…” the woman admitted with a sad smile.
Then both turned to look at you.
“Go, explain her everything. And if we see each other again. It’s because we are meant to be friends. But that’s it…” Jeong-won almost felt his eyes turn glassy. But he nodded, gave Noh In-ju a brief kiss on the forehead, and literally started running towards you.
For a moment he thought about
You are still waiting for the green light when you hear him. You spot a cab and make him a sign to stop by you.
“Y/N !” When you look back, you see Jeong-won running, out of breath with his hand waving in an attempt to make you notice him.
You sigh, already feeling stressed out.
“This needs to stop. I can’t take it anymore!” You almost yell as soon as he ends up face-to-face with you. “I know it was just a coincidence and she’s your wife, but it’s not fair. I can’t do this anymore…”
You’re so mentally exhausted that you don’t even notice your eyes tearing up until the cool air makes you aware of the tears.
“Please, don’t cry. If you just let me explain… you and I-“
Boom. You explode…
“YOU AND I, NOTHING!”
It spills out of your mouth. The words even hurt you since you know it’s not true. People around stare but you don’t care.
“This is why I can’t go out anymore. I’m so scared that I will have to see your face again… “ his heart breaks, he can’t stand your tired and hurt tone, your burning cheeks, and your red eyes.
He wants to make it better but doesn’t know how.
“I never wanted to hurt you…” he admits with his broken voice and you find the strength to chuckle. “I will remember that when I’m gone…”
“You’re leaving?” Jeong-won finds himself panicking, already desperate to make you stay.
“If the office approves my petition, yes. I’ll leave in three weeks” his face goes pale. “And even after everything… I can’t hate you, Jeong-won”
Your cab arrives just in time, and you disappear without saying anything else. You don’t even look at him again.
And as the cab drives away, you begin to think about anything else. In hopes of forgetting about everything, starting with his face.
2:00 am…
You can’t sleep. It was the following night after a hangover day. Your friends almost cried, pleading you stay at least the rest of the semester. You hadn’t thought about leaving the apartment and all of the good memories built there.
You look through the open curtains at the skyline. The same crystal diving you from the city that once was your lullaby as Jeong-won hugged you and combed his fingers through your hair.
You were so sober that you even questioned if he deserved to explain himself.
What if he was in a bad marriage and he couldn’t get divorced but started seeing you? No… Then why did they look very happy talking to each other the last time?
What if he actually never meant to cheat on his wife but tremendously fell in love with you? No… He still cheated and never told you about it.
But he said he loved you.
And he looked sincere while doing so…
*beep beep*
Your phone makes you touch the ground again.
After hours of being in the dark, the light of the screen blinds you for a second.
Five new messages…
Jeong-won ♡
You never removed the heart beside his name in the contract.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I can’t sleep again.
and not because I’ve taken
the pills again. I miss you like
you have no idea.
I know I hurt you despite not
wanting to. But as I said, it’s complicated.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
My first wife and I had issues.
She always wanted to
control me. We almost had a kid,
but we lost it and that shattered my
life once again. So she urged me
to sign a fake marriage, now I see
how twisted and stupid it is.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I was so uncomfortable when this
new woman appeared at my place.
It was already a bad place
and it added up to my neglect. It was
never my intention to cheat on In-ji.
I was only being friendly
that night we met in the club. But the
more I heard you, the more I realized
how lonely I was. It was luck or a fluke
that you were in that burger shop
days after.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I swear to you, y/n, that every
word, caress, and moment I shared
with you was real. Never in my life
I’ve been more sure about
feeling like this. I wanted to tell
you about the marriage, but I
didn’t know how. I thought that
no matter how much I tried to
explain, it would sound terrible.
I was so close to falling in love
with her. But thank goodness
I didn’t, because I would have
settled for so little compared
to you. The marriage contract is
over. That day you saw us together,
it was the first time I saw her
in months. She told me to go after you.
Jeong-won ♡ ׂ╰┈➤
I don’t think it’s enough
explanation. But I hope it’s
enough for you to believe me
when I say I truly love you.
I’m so sure I want to waste as
many years as needed as long as
you forgive me. Please don’t leave,
I need you. Even when I don’t deserve
it.

You don’t cry, you don’t panic, you don’t even blink. You just lock the phone and set it aside. Your eyes locked on the ceiling as you start drifting off, succumbing to sleep.
It could’ve been any other day. But it was raining when you decided to drop the final papers to withdraw from the study abroad program and return home. The apartment was a mess, half of it already packed up inside carton boxes and the other half resting as if nothing was happening.
The decision was not properly made, that was clear.
Your head was a disaster, a swimming mess.
Your life has been quite boring but comforting ever since you entered your teenage years. Never in your wildest dreams, you thought you would be stressing over a failed relationship where the man was married.
Three months after that embarrassing night at the restaurant, you are in a very different place and situation.
The rain has stopped, the sun peaks between grey clouds but the streets are still a wet mess.
You avoid the puddles of water that form across the sidewalk. Your cable earphones get tangled with the bunch of papers in your arms. It’s annoying until you slow down to take them off and hold the papers properly.
You bump into someone. The altercation being a little violent makes you almost fall to your knees, but the stranger holds your shoulders.
And the papers fall from your hands, drenching in the water.
“Fuck…” you whisper, hurrying to kneel, not caring that your knees get wet, you can only save the top papers. You see the hands of the stranger also trying to save them. That’s when you look up at the stranger.
Without a warning you end up smiling, Jeong-won smiles back at the instant. Both of you chuckle.
The half-drenched papers slip from your hands again, completely drowning in the puddle of water.
“Is it too late?” He asks.
“For what?”
“For begging you to stay with me…” your hands snake to grab his. He had a black turtleneck sweater and a jacket hanging over his shoulder. He looked painfully gorgeous.
You think about all those hours you spent re-reading his messages.
“I think you have begged enough” you reply.
Needless to say… you just know it was meant to happen.
Your arms lock around his neck and it’s you the one kissing him. Jeong-won mentally sighs, feeling relieved and renewed.
You can feel his arms embracing you tightly, as if scared you would slip away from him again.
Out of breath, he rests his forehead against yours, witnessing how the pain slowly washed away.
“It’s okay…” you almost whisper, he nods, briefly smiling. “Jeong-won, let's go home”
You knew he understood. Both of you knew home was wherever the two of you were together.
The heat was slowly building up. The windows started to remain open all day and night. Jeong-won was slightly stressed out, he had an upcoming trip and was in a mall, outside of a candle store.
His phone was almost burning when he realized the day was indeed hot.
“Jeong-won?” He turns only to encounter In-ji, smiling brightly at him.
“In-ji…”
His ex-wife appeared upon him, looking gorgeous. She looked happy, with her long hair now dyed chocolate brown.
“How are you?” He asked giving her a quick hug. “I haven’t seen you in… a long time”
It had been a year, to be exact.
“What happened with y/n?” She asks straight to the point and Jeong-won chuckles. “Why are you laughing?”
“It was bad… Remember?” In-ji nods, then he points at a woman squatting while looking at candles inside the store.
It was you, wearing a sundress that hunched over the floor. A purse hanging from your shoulder with many keychains. And when you stood up and turned to the side, In-ji noticed your left arm was also busy, holding a newborn baby.
“HAN JEONG-WON, YOU HAD A BABY?” the man starts laughing while nodding. “Oh my goddess! Congratulations!”
“I can’t believe it myself” he admits after accepting the hug In-ji gave him.
It felt nice to see her. She was right, they functioned better as friends.
“It’s a girl, right? What’s her name?” His eyes brightened at the subject.
Jeong-won had a baby with you…
“She has two names. June Iseul” the name of the baby rolled over his tongue and he found himself smiling again.
June Iseul was born in the peak of the winter, weighing and measuring less than expected, with matted raven hair and grey irises that were slowly becoming like yours but shaped just like her father’s.
“That’s adorable!” In-hi admitted, feeling awe at the sight of the baby in your arms, wearing a rainbow onesie.
“And I guess you married her?” Jeong-won huffed.
You never denied how June Iseul had been an accident. She came to slow down your academic career, she also made you gain weight and lose some hair but her arrival amidst winter gave you half a year to recover. You felt amazing and June Iseul was growing healthy.
Jeong-won was happier than ever. He was just a little worried about the reason why they were in the mall. Your parents were slightly mad and very confused as to why you left home being single and a full-time student and you were going to visit them being a part-time student, with a boyfriend and a baby.
Jeong-won was nervous, excited, and eager to marry you.
“Well… happens that y/n doesn’t fully believe in traditional marriage. I’ve asked her on multiple occasions but she keeps saying that we shouldn’t push it yet” Jeong-won admits rolling his eyes, she chuckles, turning her head to see you invested in the newborn section. “She’s very smart”
“She is…” he agrees, joining the chuckles and smiling like an idiot at the sight of you with his daughter.
“Well I didn’t have a baby, but I got married” In-ji revealed, making Jeong-won almost gag.
“What? When?”
“Two weeks ago. I met him in Thailand and… I don’t know. I’m just… very happy” Both smiled, feeling in peace knowing everyone had moved on. “I’m happy for you, Jeong-won. I can tell you are living a dream”
“I’m also happy for you…” both smiled at each other.
An hour later, you are done shopping and the most important thing is in your hands; a stroller for June Iseul.
Jeong-won pushed the stroller as both of you walked towards a pasta restaurant.
“It sucks that you got me pregnant before my twenties ended. I should be in the club!” you object, exaggerating. You can hear Jeong-won huffing in disbelief.
“You literally go out to the club every week!”
He was right. Your life pretty much remained the same.
“And that’s one more reason I love you so much”
Even with the arrival of June Iseul, Jeong-won had no problems with staying with the baby while you attended classes or decided to hang out with your friends. He used to have a lot of free time, but now… he found the perfect routine.
“What are we ordering?” He asks, grabbing a menu as you both wait your turn to order and pay.
“You pick the pasta and I want a pizza with truffle oil. What do you say?” You negotiate with a smile.
He gets so lost in your beautiful face that he ends up smiling back like an idiot.
“What?” You ask again, chuckling at his silly face. “Nothing, I just love you so much”
You blush. And before you can say anything.
You hear some coos.
“I’ll order, you pick a table and feed Junjun” Jeong-won reassures you, knowing very well his daughter was demanding and using the silly nickname he had given her.
You take a seat at a secluded table and turn the stroller so you can uncover it.
June Iseul was awake.
“Hello, little blossom” she smiled and it melted your heart. “I know you’re hungry…”
She was very small and soft. She had that baby smell but as her mother, you thought your baby smelled perfectly compared to the others.
She locked her eyes with yours as you breastfed her, not caring about the attention because your back was facing the world, and the table was secluded enough to cover you.
June Iseul’s pale skin resembled her father’s, making her look a little like a porcelain doll. Like the one your friend Jade gifted her from Japan months ago.
The doll was very sophisticated and rested along with some baby books and toys.
“Your father isn’t very good at conversations with strangers, right?” You ask your baby as you pull her out of the stroller and into your chest. Your boyfriend seemed to awkwardly be exchanging words with the woman taking the order. It made you chuckle.
After a long night talking and him telling you every single detail of his life, everything changed.
Just when he got a little house in a modest neighborhood and asked you to move in, you accidentally got pregnant.
What seemed like a challenge turned out to be easier than expected. Jeong-won had been the perfect partner all along.
Ignoring the judgment from your peers in classes after you waddled around campus with a baby bump, everything was perfect.
Also ignoring all the insults you threw to Jeong-won while he held your hand in the delivery room, everything was perfect.
So seeing him come with the receipt of the order and taking June Iseul from your arms to burp her made you realize how lucky you were.
How fucked up things were until they weren’t.
You have a boyfriend begging you to marry him and a perfect baby that looks like him. Both are in wait to visit your homeland and parents for the first time.
The flash of your phone pulls Jeong-won out of his trance with June Iseul.
“Are you taking us a picture?” he asks.
“Yes, you both look so adorable” you admit looking at the screen. June Iseul perfectly locked eyes with his father and you captured it in a picture.
You would print it, use it as your lock screen, and send it to your friends.
Ruby immediately replies in the group chat, then Jade, and lastly Seoun-mi.

trio of aunts 💋
You lock your phone with a smile on your face as you stand up.
“Where are you going?” Jeong-won asks.
“To wash my hands, silly” You lean forward to kiss him briefly and you can feel him smiling amidst the kiss.
It’s inappropriate but since the table is secluded, you feel playful enough to add tongue and have a little touch with his.
And then you remember your daughter is in the middle of you two and had just burped.
“She spilled some milk…” Jeong-won hurriedly says, breaking the kiss.
You chuckle and kiss your daughter’s matted hair.
“Then clean her, Jeong-won,” you say before leaving to finally wash your hands. As your steps grow further, you can hear your boyfriend talking in Korean with June Iseul.
“Your mother is a little spitfire. That’s why I want to marry her…”
There’s an embarrassing smile on your face when you look at yourself in the bathroom mirror.

The Haunting of Danny Fenton, p4
Masterpost late, tired, still emotional and physically fragile. please no editing <3
“—ir? Sir?”
Danny mumbled something incoherent that was supposed to be a response to that, or befuddlement about being called ‘sir’, or at least something better than ‘wadamehaaftz’. The bite of a tightening blood pressure cuff around his arm helped bring him a little be back to the world. He opened his eyes right into too bright light and winced back in reaction.
“Sir? Do you need us to call an ambulance?” the panicked looking barista asked. She was crouched down next to him where he lay on the floor.
Great, now he could never come back to this coffee shop. That was a damn shame, they had really good bagels.
“No,” Danny managed to make his mouth say. “Seizure. Newish thing for me. I’m fine—will be fine. Sorry.”
“Maybe you should stay laying down for a moment longer?” The barista suggested.
Danny hummed. “Don’t want to be a bother.”
“Dude,” someone said off to Danny’s right. He didn’t think it was worth the effort to turn his head and look, “you just had a seizure. You were screaming. Like, I think we’re all okay if you lay there. We can step around you.”
There were murmurers of agreement.
“Okay, yeah, you know what, great,” Danny said and summoned the willpower to lift his hand and give there room a thumbs up. He let it drop listlessly back down onto his chest.
At least the floor was cool against his back. And he did feel a bit better not trying to get up immediately. When he finally pulled himself back up into his chair, the nice barista brought him a glass of ice water with a straw. Danny drank every drop of the first glass and a refill until the paper of the stupid straw started to turn to mush between his lips.
Knowing that he wouldn’t be up for doing much especially that day, Danny got a bagel sandwich to go, left a generous tip, and fled the cafe with his proverbial tail between his legs.
Penny was was at the apartment. She shoved a still warm load of banana bread at Danny as she bitched about her latest failed relationship. Apparently her girlfriend had been hooking up with the bouncer at their favorite bar. Not that Penny would have minded if they had talked through it before hand and Penny was allowed to join every now and again.
Which, fair, the bouncer did have amazing arms.
When Penny’s phone rang, blaring a dated pop song, Danny was able to make his escape with the added load of his two liter water bottle and bag of little oranges. Or not oranges—clementines? Tangelos? Whatever, little oranges.
He set everything down on the end of his bed before flinging himself onto it.
Another seizure. A worse one.
But a clearer vision of the ghost than he’d ever had before.
Groaning, Danny dragged himself to hang over the edge of his bed so he could pull out one of the storage cubes from under it. After a bit of shuffling, he got the one he wanted out from the back: a long ignored stack of art supplies. Danny rummaged around in it for a pencil and eraser before he pulled the sketchbook out from the bottom. He flipped past old game ides and idle doodles to find a blank page and started to work.
There was so much of the ghost that he still couldn’t define, but the more he worked at the sketch of the ghost’s face, the more he started to narrow it down.
Danny stared down at the page.
Overworked eyes stared back.
Feeling frustrated at how close it was, Danny grabbed a blue marker from the page and filled in the eyes carefully. Then, with almost irritated strokes, Danny roughly messed in the strikingly orange hair.
Now his ghost started back.
“Hello there…"

sevika gets drunk and ends up forgetting about her own wife and ends up in the brothel, and reader end up knowing all, but dont have courage enough to confront her, but she noticed the changes on your behavior like, dont wanting kisses often, dont wanting to cudlle at nigh or worried when she tells you that she have to work and etc.
(I am obsseeeed how you write angst, mwah mwah)
- 🧸
ohh absolutely. i love that idea<3 also tysmm!
leave you with nothing
Tumblr media
content warning(s): idiot lesbians (slight angst) (not too bad i swear)
"are you sick of me? would you like to be? i'm trying to tell you something something that i've already said"
~~~
i think she would get drunk only when work was really stressing her out. or if her sense of self-worth is just at an all-time low (i’m thinking of the time silco dead up ordered her to help with a dead body, which was shocking even to renni, who was literally the mother of the victim.) when she feels trapped, hopeless, powerless, like the enterprise isn’t getting zaun anywhere closer to its ultimate goal. she doesn’t want to confide in you about this, she wants to keep up a front of stoic confidence to you, because she’s afraid if she reveals herself to be vulnerable you will leave her.
so she drinks her troubles away and tells herself she’ll clear everything up to you in the morning if you ask why she came home late, she tells herself she’ll just play a round of cards or two with her drinking mates, that you’ll never know the difference (never thinks she’s more sober than when she’s stinking drunk.)
one drink leads to another and she’s vaguely aware of her desire for something else that night - a woman’s touch, a woman’s voice, someone to hold her and tell her she is doing alright. she’s too drunk to remember where she’s felt this before, who has held her like this, and all she is aware of is an all-consuming loneliness that threatens to devour her alive. she’s thrown back into the old days before she met you, when all that awaited her after a hard day’s work was an empty apartment strewn with emptier liquor bottles. she doesn’t want to go back to this home.
so she makes her way to babette’s, incredibly calm and collected—she’s good at playing sober when she wants to, and babette is surprised to see her check in— isn’t she married? — but she asks no questions and Sevika sees a woman who kind of looks like you. the eyes. the shape of the face. the hips, the way she moves in the dusky light. she picks her immediately.
she’s too drunk to care about how it might look, asking the woman if it’s alright if she just lay with her head in the woman’s lap. telling her to stroke her hair and let her sleep for a while. even on the walk here she was hot with desire, but now she just wants to rest and hear the pretty words you would whisper in her ear when you thought she was asleep.
she comes home at around 4 in the morning and promptly passes out on the couch, not even bothering to change. smelling of someone else’s perfume. you find her there in the morning and she doesn’t remember a single thing except that the coins in her pocket are gone.
you know the signs; you’re not stupid, but you don’t want to think the worst. until you overhear Chuck talking to some of the patrons at the last drop.
“yeah, Sevika was here, swept the table and then left in the middle of the round talking about Babette’s.” “Babette’s?? doesn’t she have a wife?”
you wander through the rooms in a daze for the rest of the day as you wait for Sevika to come home. you’re furious at first, then you’re cold with dread. was it you? had you done something wrong to make her want something else, someone else?
you don’t want to confront her, you’ve convinced yourself by now that whatever it was, it must have been something you did wrong, and even though you can’t think of a single time Sevika seemed angry or even unhappy with you, you can’t bring yourself to start the conversation.
she comes home tired and her eyes light up when she sees you. when she tries to kiss you, you turn your face away. her hand reaches for your waist, you dodge her touch.
“baby, what’s with you?” she asks. “i smell funny or what?”
yeah, you smell of babette’s. you smell of liquor. you smell of lies.
“nothing. i’m tired. you want dinner?”
“i ate already,” she says. “i’m going to bed.”
okay, so we’re playing ignorant, you think. two can play at that game.
as the days go on you avoid her more and more. you still clean up after her in the apartment, cook her meals, wash and mend her clothes as usual. but you don’t stay up waiting for her to come home, and you don’t let her kiss you in bed. Sevika’s at a complete loss—she’s never seen you this way before. unlike you, she’d never wonder if maybe she were at fault. if she feels she hasn’t done wrong, she’d stick to that conviction to the bitter end. but it exasperates her, the way you elude her touches, answer her with monosyllables, stare at her with a strange apprehension in your eyes when you think she isn’t looking.
“i’m working late tonight,” she tells you one day. “don’t wait up.”
you feel your heart drop. she’s already a regular for someone at babette’s, you know it.
“what time do you think you’ll be back?” you ask, a little too quickly.
she looks at you oddly. you’ve never asked her this before. “i’ll be back when i’m back.” her brows furrow in concern. “why, is something wrong?”
“no,” you say.
after she leaves you pace the apartment for about an hour before making up your mind and running out into the street. hood over your face so you won’t be recognized, you run straight to Babette’s and burst through the doors, ignoring the strange looks you receive. no one deters you—you were also a frequent patron before you met Sevika, but you see the workers look at you and whisper to one another. it only confirms your suspicions. you reach Babette’s office and she looks up at you in surprise.
“can i help you, hon?”
“Sevika,” you say breathlessly. “how many times has she checked in here?”
her brows lift. she checks her records. “i don’t do this for anyone, you know - confidential information. but since you’re her wife…”
“how many times, please?”
she looks up at you. “just once. a month ago. she seemed inebriated. stayed only for two hours.”
just once? and drunk? Sevika, drunk? you couldn’t imagine it if you tried.
you walk back out of the brothel, barely thinking of where you’re going, barely thinking at all, when you hear a familiar voice call out your name.
Sevika’s walking swiftly down the street towards you, her eyes dark.
“what are you doing here?” she asks, grabbing your wrist.
“what am I doing here?” you shoot back. “i’m here finding out what you were doing here!”
she looks up at the sign of Babette’s place, as if she can’t understand what you mean. “i haven’t stepped foot in this place,” she growls.
“Babette’s records say otherwise.” your voice is cold.
then it all comes back to her at once. Sevika’s lips part slightly as she recalls that night, the desperation, the way she had lain in another woman’s lap.
“baby,” she says. “listen.”
“i’m done listening,” you snap, and turn on your heel. you walk away from her, leaving her behind on the street outside Babette’s.
note: idk why this idea struck me as so funny i think i'm sleep deprived lol. obviously she will explain herself as best as she can and you'll forgive her. she sleeps on the couch tonight though.
Everything Is Alright Pt 122
IDW Starscream x Reader, Soundwave x Reader, Megatron x Reader
• Optics on the ceiling overhead, on anything but you and your two mates fussing over you, Megatron swallows a growl. That all too familiar feeling of alienation that he remembers from the mines lifting through him. Thought that he'd gotten past this. That it could no longer hurt him, but it's as bitter now as it was back then. Being right there and ignored. Not belonging. And he hates it with a passion. "You two realize this changes everything," he says to Soundwave and Starscream and the Seeker's optics immediately narrow.
• "What exactly does this change?" Starscream growls, hand cupping the back of your head when you finally lay your cheek on his chassis. “I can tend to my mate. I don’t need either of you.” And you stiffen against him. Because as much as he despises the pair of them, you’d chosen them. Wants so much to resent you for that. For forcing him into this mess. They’re not his trine. Not brothers. They’re enemies. Wings drooping slightly then flaring when Soundwave immediately tries to comfort you, he growls. “But my mate does. For some reason.”
• Fighting a smile because that’s probably as civil as Starscream can be given the circumstances, you reach back a hand and Soundwave laces his servos with your fingers. And you’re painfully aware of how messed up whatever this is between the four of you is. That none of them are exactly happy. “Can we just try to start over?” Know you’re asking a lot of them. That this is all your fault anyway. “But you’re so tired of the fighting and scheming.
• “I’m not going to suddenly forget how many times your traitorous little Seeker has stabbed me in the back,” Megatron growls, but he sounds more tired than truly angry. That alone helps Soundwave relax some. Wants to pull you away from Starscream, separate you from him so he can just focus on your emotions. Wanting to try and figure out why you’d fully bonded Megatron after shunning him. It’s what he’d been working towards, but it still hurts that you’d chosen the warlord over him. How many times had he put Megatron ahead of himself, though? Should be used to it. Doing the hard things for the greater good. Even if it hurts. Always loyal. Obedient. Not allowed to want anything for himself, but he does want you even if you don’t want him.
• “Because you’re running the cause into the ground,” Starscream snarls wings lifting and the warlord’s head turns to stare at him. And he’s never been free to speak his mind without fear of pain or retribution, but he can say whatever the pit he wants right now and he’s untouchable because they’re both fully bonded to you. It’s like a dam falling in his processor. All the frustration, hate, and anger pouring out. “Do you have any idea how many stupid decisions you make? How many actions are driven by your desire to kill Optimus, not actual strategy? But what the frag do you know about strategy anyway? A miner and a gladiator. You have so many advisors and you don’t listen to any of us, too busy acting out your little vendetta while the cause suffers. I believed in you.”
• “You only believe in power,” Megatron counters, rolling and propping himself up on an arm. And your skin prickles, not really liking being so small and between them while they argue. Feel Soundwave hook an arm around your middle and pull you to him and away from Starscream like he’s concerned too. “You lie and scheme and paint yourself as a worthy leader, but you’re a coward scrabbling for any power or control you can get your servos on.” Yeah, you don’t want to be anywhere near them if they’re about to brawl. Both tensed like they’re seconds from launching at each other and then slowly relaxing to make you realize you were holding your breath. And Megatron glances at you, vents noisily and resumes staring at the ceiling. “You’re brave with our little pet to protect you.”
Slowly remembering how to do this/accidentally stabbing myself with the needle so many times. I’m much rustier at this than I thought, though 🫠 looks more like Wheeljack’s illegitimate love child than Starscream at this point. Just a few more pins to finish my bag now
It is strange how such profound changes in your life can come from the most mundane of instances. You were having a pretty normal day, you had just gotten off of work and were relaxing with your boyfriend at the arcade. Sylus was braving the afternoon to come out and see you. Your schedules were pretty different since he was awake almost exclusively during the night and you worked during the day.
But you were together today and were at one of the claw machines trying to get even more plushies. You had accumulated an impressive collection but there were always more that you wanted. Today you were at the machine giving Sylus directions to help him get the hearty hearts plushie.
The plushie fell into the bin and you clapped happily as he retrieved it and handed it to you.
“Two little cuties together are definitely twice as adorable!” you said, holding the little heart plushie to your chest.
Sylus shook his head. “Aren’t you tired of seeing something that looks exactly the same?”
“Never! That’s what makes it cute. Just imagine waking up to two little plushies right beside you--” You paused, noticing the way Sylus’s gaze focused. “Why are you suddenly staring at me?”
He smirked. “I’m looking at the mirror behind you. Having two of you wouldn’t be too bad, actually.”
You rolled your eyes, thinking that he had meant that in some salacious way and turned back to the machine. The rest of your afternoon passed, after you left the arcade you stopped by a cafe for drinks and you noticed Sylus was still staring at you much in the same way he was back at the arcade.
You were used to Sylus staring at you but there was something off about it. Usually when he stared it was because he had something dirty on his mind. It usually meant the second you were alone he would be crowding you against the nearest flat surface. But you didn’t get that from him today. He looked almost wistful, a small serene smile on his face.
You gave his leg a tap under the table. “What are you so smiley about?” you asked. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No. Just thinking about something.” he leaned back in his chair, giving you one more complete glance over and nodded. “Yes. I think that will do very well.”
“What are you talking about? Do I get to know?”
He only smiled. “Remember when you told me to imagine waking up to two of the same plushies every morning?”
“Yeah…I think I see where this is going.” Either this was going to be a sex in front of a mirror request or possibly a desire for more plushies. You had a feeling you knew which one he was referring to though. “And I will say I am open to it.”
His eyes widened slightly. “Really? I only just decided to ask and you’re already on board?”
“It’s not like it’s that big a request. I feel like I’ve done far stranger things, especially with you.” you shrugged.
“Not a big request? And what exactly have you done that is stranger?”
“Well I’m not going to talk about that in a cafe.” you said. “Isn’t this something that should wait to be discussed at home?”
“We can, of course. If that would make you most comfortable.” he was grinning even wider, “There is a lot more to discuss about it that we are going to need to get into.”
“How much more could there possibly be?” He was being very intense about a mirror kink.
“A lot more. Like when you want to start trying, what kind of doctor do you want to go to, how is living arrangements going to work? Are you moving in or were you going to be adamant about keeping your own apartment? Do you want us to get married first--”
“Whoa! Whoa! WHOA!” you held up your hands. “What in the world are you talking about? What does any of that have to do with this?”
Sylus paused, his brow furrowing. “Sweetie, what do you think I’m talking about?”
“I mean, I thought you were talking about--you know--” you leaned in closer, your voice a whisper so not to be overheard by anyone else “having sex in front of a mirror? Two of me. That kind of thing.”
Sylus snorted, his shoulders shaking slightly as he held in a laugh. “What? What’s so funny? What were you actually talking about?”
“Oh my beloved,” he sighed, taking your hand over the table. “When I said two of you I meant a mini-you.”
“A mini-me? Like a doll? Why would you--” it finally dawned on you what he meant. Your face heated as embarrassment flooded in. “Oh. I see. A mini-me.”
“Finally get there, did you?” he cocked his head at you. “So, what do you think?”
“I mean…” you didn’t know how to respond. “Just to make sure I’m not misinterpreting again. You are talking about…”
“Getting you pregnant and starting a family. Yes.” Sylus nodded.
“Got it.”
“Now that you know what I was asking you don’t seemed at all enthused about it.”
“I mean, I don’t know how to respond to that out of the blue. It came on so suddenly and while I would like to be a mother one day I guess I didn’t expect it to get brought up quite like this. Usually when people decide to have kids it’s something they do after they get married. We’ve only been dating for a little over a year now. Are you sure you want to have a kid with me? God forbid we break up one day we’re still going to have an entire person connecting us.”
“Bold of you to assume I’d ever let us break up.” Sylus said. “I’m afraid you are stuck with me, sweetie.”
“And bold of you to say we’re stuck together when you haven’t put a ring on it.”
“Do you want me to? I will. We can go down to the jewelry store and buy a ring right now. Depending on how big of a ceremony you want we can be married by the end of the day. Then again, if we do get married I’d like to make a spectacle out of it complete with you in a pretty white dress I get to tear off after the reception.”
“Sylus!” you hissed, hiding your face behind your hands. He always talked so brazenly with you about his desires. It flustered you to no end when they were just carnal desires but this sudden need of his to marry and impregnate you was a thousand times worse. You could barely look at him. Everything he said was too open. Too honest. It made you self conscious thinking about how sincere and direct he was being.
“What? Is it embarrassing to love you? Is it embarrassing to let you know exactly what I picture for us? Since meeting you, this has been what I’ve dreamt of one day having. And today, when you mentioned two of something I realized I didn’t want to wait any longer. I want that life with you. Say you want that life with me too.”
“I…I…” everything screamed in you that this was moving too fast. You did love him but marriage? A child? You didn’t even live together and he was proposing things with a much bigger commitment right now!
Sylus could see you fumbling for an answer and sighed, the light in his eyes dimming a bit. “It’s a lot to ask all at once. I see that. Take all the time you need to respond.”
Wow. Okay.
You finished at the cafe and you started making your way back to your apartment with Sylus. The ride back was quiet. You were thinking about a lot. You knew that you definitely loved Sylus and the idea of marrying him and having a family with him one day was something you wanted. His offer didn’t scare you for that reason. You were in this relationship for the long haul. It was the fact that it all just got put out there so quickly.
Usually when girls get proposed to they can sometimes see it coming. Their partner tells them to go get their nails done, they plan a really romantic date out of nowhere, you get to dress up in something super pretty and nice. All of it to make sure the moment is a picturesque as possible. Sylus dropping that he wants to get you pregnant and then basically proposing in the middle of a cafe after you confused his wants for mirror sex was not how you would have ever imagined this happening!
It was a lot to take in. And maybe you should have been more scared by the idea. But the longer you sat with the question you realized you already knew the answer. You wanted to spend your life with Sylus. You wanted to create a life with him, both metaphorically and literally. It was daunting to think about but it didn’t scare you.
You pulled up to your apartment and you invited Sylus up. Once you got inside you kicked off your shoes and pulled Sylus closer, pushing yourself to your toes to loop your arms around his neck and kiss him. He didn’t miss a beat and kissed you back softly.
“Yes.” you said when you pulled back.
“Yes?” he repeated. Eyes searching your face, “Tell me what you are saying yes to, sweetie.” his grip on you got a little tighter.
“I want to marry you.” you smiled brightly, “And I want to start a family with you.”
A small breath of relief left him and he rested his forehead against yours. “You had better mean that.”
“I do.”
“Perfect.” he closed the distance to kiss you. You melted into his embrace as he kissed you over and over. The moment you ran out of breath and pulled back to breathe he was pulling you in again. Your knees were losing their ability to keep you standing and Sylus placed his hands on your ass and hauled you off the ground, wrapping your legs around his waist.
“Care to start trying now?” he asked. You were still standing in the living room but he was waiting to point you towards the bedroom.
“You want to start right now?” you asked, breathless.
“Why not?”
Maybe it was the emotion of the afternoon or maybe you were hormonal but you ended up nodding. “Okay.”
He started turning towards the bedroom. “Say it, sweetie. What do you want?”
Your face heated again. “I want to start a family with you. I want you to put a baby in me, Sylus. And I want to do it now.”
He carried you back to the bedroom and laid you down on the bed. Considering everything you knew about Sylus and past experience in the bedroom you expected something hard and feral. You had just told him to put a baby in you. You thought that he was going to tear your clothes off and bend you into a mating press for the rest of the night. You were surprised when he stepped back and slowly started peeling out of his clothes.
You started to take off your own clothes but Sylus stopped you. “Let me do that, sweetie.” he pulled the shirt off over your head. You watched as he carefully helped strip you out of your clothes, pressing small kisses to each new inch of skin that was revealed.
“You’re so beautiful.” he whispered, staring at your naked form. “I can’t wait to see you pregnant. Can’t wait to see you swell up with our kid.” he ran a hand along your stomach. “You have no idea how happy you’ve made me today, sweetie. Happiest I’ve ever been in my life.”
“Sylus…” you reached out to cup his face. “I love you. I love you so much.”
He bent closer to kiss you again. “I love you too.”
While maintaining the kiss his hand slid between your legs and started playing with your pussy. He teased your clit, rubbing it in slow circles. He swallowed your moans the moment they left your lips. Instinctually your hips moved up into his touch. He used the heel of his hand to hold your hips down.
“Stay slow, kitten. I want to savor this.” he murmured against your lips.
He pushed a finger into your heat, drawing more sweet moans out of you as he began to help stretch and prepare your body.
Knowing that you were currently having sex with the intention of getting pregnant was surreal. It felt like any other encounter you had but pleasure was not the only goal. You were going to create a life together. A whole new person, one made up of a little of you and a little of him was going to be in the world. And then you just had that new person for the rest of your lives. You’d be parents. You were going to be in charge of raising a kid.
How was raising a kid even going to work with your lives? Sylus was the leader of Onychinus and lived in the N109 zone. He wasn’t going to leave but you also didn’t want your kid to be deprived of Linkon blue skies and a normal life. There was so much more for you to think about that you hadn’t considered.
“I would love to know where your mind has gone when I have a hand between your legs, kitten.” Sylus said, breaking you out of your thoughts.
“Sorry. I was just thinking about how we are going to raise this kid once they’re born.” you said.
“We haven’t even attempted to get you pregnant and you’re worrying about that already?” Sylus scoffed. “At least I know you’re not thinking of backing out if you’re thinking about all of that.”
“I can’t help it. I want our kid to have the best life but also a normal one. Do you think they can have that in the N109 zone?” you asked.
“For our child, I’ll make anything possible.” he cupped your cheek. “Now, do you want to start?”
You nodded. “Yes. Please.”
Sylus smiled and kissed you again. He withdrew his hand and lined himself up with your pussy before slowly pushing in. Twin breaths of satisfaction left you as he sunk in. He stayed close to you, his body pressed on top of yours as his hips rolled against yours. It was such an even and steady unhurried pace. You couldn’t believe it took you till now to realize that he wasn’t just having sex with the intention of getting you pregnant, he was making love to you.
He wanted this first act of you two coming together to make a baby to be done with love, not just lust. No matter what interaction past this got you pregnant, this was your first honest attempt and it was done with nothing short of unending love and adoration.
“Can’t wait to get you pregnant,” Sylus panted as he steadily drove into you. “I’m going to lock us away and fuck you every day until I know you’re knocked up. Fuck, I want to put a baby in you. I want to knock you up so damn bad, kitten.” his pace got a little faster as the need for release drew closer.
“Sylus! Please!” your nails scratched into his back. “I want you to. I want you to knock me up. Please!”
“Fuck kitten!” he groaned, biting into your shoulder. “You’re gonna be so damn pretty all big with my kid. Gonna fuck a baby into you and then I’m gonna put another one in you and another. I want to have as many babies with you as I can get!”
Good god above. How many kids did this man expect you to pop out?
“You’re gonna be such a good mom to our kids.” he lathered hot wet kisses along your throat. “And I’m gonna make you my wife. Our whole lives are ahead of us, and we’re gonna spend them together just like this. Happy, in love, and fucking each other senseless.”
“Yes! Please Sylus! I want it! I want it all!” your legs were locked tight around his hips, wanting to keep him as close to you as humanly possible.
“Come for me, sweetie. I want you to come when I get you pregnant.” he pressed a finger to your clit, rubbing it furiously to help get you there.
“Sylus!” you moaned, nails digging into his back as you came. Blinding little white dots danced before your vision as you came. A buzzing warmth vibrated from the tips of your toes to the ends of your hair. Sylus gave one final thrust into you and stilled as he came inside you, breathing heavily and moaning your name.
You loosened your grip on him and rubbed your hands along his back. “Sylus…” your head was foggy in the aftermath.
“Right here, sweetie.” he pressed a kiss to your temple. “How do you feel?”
You smiled, pulling him down for a proper kiss. “Amazing. I think we actually made a baby today.”
“I hope so.” he touched your stomach. “But, it can never hurt to be thorough.”
“You are insatiable.” you rolled your eyes.
“Only because it is you, beloved.” He pulled out and laid down next to you, one of his hands still resting on your stomach. “I already can’t wait to meet our little one.”
~~~
The next month was filled with nothing but you and Sylus having sex so you could get pregnant. It didn’t really matter that you were sure you had gotten pregnant that first day you started trying, Sylus wanted to make sure your pregnancy was a certainty. He also loved the excuse of locking you up all for himself.
You hadn’t told anyone about your plans yet. No one outside of you and Sylus even knew that you were trying to have a kid. Except maybe Luke and Keiran but that was because Sylus had already set them on the task of baby proofing the mansion. He never said baby proof but suddenly telling the twins to do stuff like sand down table edges to not be sharp and put covers on unused electric outlets was a bit of a tip off.
After a month of constant sex though you decided to go out and buy a pregnancy test. You weren’t feeling any symptoms yet but you were too impatient to find out if it had happened yet or not. You had bought an assortment and took them home. After a long time in the bathroom and what felt like an even longer wait you had the results.
Positive. All of the tests in their own way said the same thing. You were pregnant.
You were pregnant!
Oh god you were pregnant. It was actually happening. It wasn’t just a fun little roleplay in the bedroom. It was real. There was an actual life growing inside of you.
You immediately grabbed your phone to tell Sylus then put it away. This was an in-person announcement. You sped over to the N109 zone as fast as you could and pulled up to the mansion. You knew at this early an hour Sylus would still be asleep but you couldn’t wait.
Luke and Kieran were in the living room moving a bunch of breakable objects to higher shelves. “Hey there, what are you doing here so early? Boss man is still asleep.” they said.
“I know but I have something important to tell him.”
“Oh thank god,” Luke sighed, “Does this mean we can hang out here when you both are here again? We don’t have to keep ourselves busy outside while you’re going at it?”
“I knew you two knew what was going on.”
“It was fairly obvious. Do you think boss man would be having us redecorate like this just for the fun of it?” Kieran said. “Congratulations though.”
“Thanks. But remember, if Sylus asks you two don’t know a damn thing. I told him first, got it?”
“Yes ma’am.” they gave little salutes and you skipped down the hall to Sylus’s room.
You opened his door and found him asleep as the twins had said. There was too much excitement in your body. You closed the door behind you and sprinted for the bed, throwing yourself across Sylus’s lap. He woke with a start, automatically grabbing you before realizing that it was you and not any kind of threat. He let out a sigh and rested his head back against the headboard.
“Sweetie, I was sleeping.”
“I know. But I figured you would want to know that I was pregnant as soon as possible.”
His eyes snapped open again, staring at you. “Repeat that for me.”
“I’m pregnant. I took a bunch of tests and they all came up positive.” you took his hand and placed it over your stomach. “We’re having a baby.”
He rolled you under him and kissed you then pulled up your shirt and kissed your stomach. “Sylus!” you laughed, his kiss tickling you slightly.
“It’s actually happening,” he murmured, resting his head on your stomach. “We’re actually going to have a child in a few months.”
“Yep.” you ran your hands through his hair. “I’m a little scared but mostly excited.”
“I cannot wait to meet you, little one.” he spoke to your stomach. “Don’t worry, you have a wonderful mama who’s going to make sure you grow into a healthy baby and daddy is going to be here to make sure she has anything she wants.”
“Anything I want? Really?”
“You’re doing something incredible. Of course I would do anything for you.” he looked up at you. “I just have one favor to ask in return.”
“A bigger favor than grow an entire human?”
“Move in.” he said. “I don’t want to miss a moment of this. Move in with me, please.”
“But what about all my stuff and my apartment? I can’t just break my lease.”
“I’ll take care of your apartment and we have more than enough room for all of your stuff.” Sylus assured you. “What do you say?”
“I mean, it had to happen sometime.” you shrugged with a smile.
And so you moved in with Sylus. He sent the twins to your house to pack up and move your things out. It was strange to just pick up and move but it was also strange to just in an instant decide you were going to become a wife and mother with the leader of Onychinus as your husband and father of your child.
Moving in when you did turned out to be a good move because soon after everything had been moved over the pregnancy symptoms started up in earnest. You were tired, your boobs hurt, you learned morning sickness was something that hit at every hour of the damn day and not just mornings as the name suggested. In a word, it was miserable.
Thankfully Sylus was very attentive to your needs, rubbing your back and making sure you had water to drink after you threw up, making sure you wouldn’t be disturbed whenever you needed a nap, and massaging the aches out of your body. He had told you to go on maternity leave but considering you were only in the first trimester of your pregnancy you didn’t see the need to take off of work just yet. However, you did need to let them know that you were now expecting.
That brought on a lot of questions from your co-workers as to how far along you were and who the father was. At this point everyone kind of knew that you had something going on with Sylus, or they knew him as “Skye” the fruit seller. Some were shocked but others were excited and looked forward to being able to throw you a baby shower.
It was a lot going on. Your body was changing, you moved, everyone at work was looking at you differently now, it felt like a lot to navigate and the stress was tarting to get to you. One day you had called off of work because you were just too damn tired to do anything. Your body ached all over, you woke up crying because you missed hearing birds in the morning, Sylus’s shampoo smell was making you gag, and you had a sudden craving for the most artery clogging cheesy corn dogs you could find.
You were lying in bed, curled in a tight ball quietly sniffling. Sylus had tried to comfort you but you snapped at him and now he was gone. You missed him even if he smelled bad. You wanted him back. You rolled to your other side and stared at the bedroom door. “Sylus?” you called out. “Are you out there?”
The door opened but you were disappointed to see the twins and not Sylus. “Hi, boss man stepped out a while ago to pick something up. He’ll be back soon.”
“He didn’t tell me he was leaving.” you muttered, fresh tears brimming in your eyes. “Why didn’t he tell me? He always tells me when he needs to go.”
“Uh…” the twins looked at each other, not knowing what to do. “Can we get you anything? Boss man told us to get you anything you needed.”
“I want Sylus.” you shimmied under the covers, hiding yourself from view so they couldn’t see you break down.
You could still hear the twins outside talking. “You have to call him.”
“Me? Why do I have to be the one to call him and tell him his baby mama is having an emotional breakdown cause he left?”
“You think I want to do that?”
“Rock paper scissors for it.”
“No. Just call him.”
“You call him!”
“Both of you get the fuck out!” you snapped from under the covers.
“Sorry!” they shut the door and disappeared. You felt a little peck at your head and groaned, rolling away from Mephisto. You had forgotten that damn bird was still here. He landed on your shoulder and pecked you again.
“Go away! Leave me alone!” you tried to swat him away.
“He’s just trying to get your attention, sweetie.” You heard Sylus’s voice. You bolted upright, scaring Mephisto off of you. You looked around but saw no sign of Sylus. That’s when you realized his voice was coming out of Mephisto.
“Mephisto can take calls now?”
“Think of him more like a baby monitor.” Sylus said. “He alerted me that you weren’t doing well and wanted me home. Don’t worry, I’m pulling back up to the house now.”
“Where did you go?”
“I went to pick up some food for my tired and hungry girlfriend.” he said. “Be with you in a second.”
You waited a minute and sure enough Sylus walked in with a large take out bag in his hands. It smelled heavenly. “Miss me?”
You nodded, holding out your arms. He set the food down and collected you in a hug. “Sorry I didn’t mention I was leaving. You didn’t seem keen to see me and I thought I’d be back before you wanted me again.”
“I was fine…” you muttered, embarrassed by how needy you were being.
“It’s fine that you weren’t. I like that you want me around.” he kissed the top of your head. “Do you still want cheesy corn dogs? I bought a lot from that one food truck you love.”
“Oh my god, yes!” you were salivating already.
Sylus handed you the bag full of hot and fresh cheesy corn dogs. You scarfed down three in record time, the cheese and carbs hitting in a way that made you moan as you ate. “Can I eat just these for the rest of my life?”
“Oh, I think you may end up craving something new in a week so we’ll see how long it lasts. But for now you can have whatever it is you want.”
You wiped some of the grease from your mouth. “I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier.”
“It’s alright.” he bent his head closer. “Is this a better shampoo? I showered again to wash it out.”
“You didn’t need to do that.”
“You didn’t like the smell of the last one so I got unscented shampoo and used that instead. I also put in an order for some birds that we can keep nearby so you can hear them sing in the mornings like you’re used to.”
“Oh my god, Sylus.” you rolled your eyes. “You didn’t need to buy an entire aviary of birds. You could have just put bird songs as an alarm or something. Buying actual birds to keep in the house is crazy.”
“I like to think they can also keep Mephisto company.” Sylus shrugged. “The house could use some more cheer anyway.”
“My collection of plushies didn’t already do that?”
“This is your home now as well as mine. Whatever you want it to be, we will have it made. Gut the entire house and remake it as your own if you wish. I’ll only ask that I keep the vault as it is now.”
“I’m not gonna gut the entire house.” you leaned against him. “Well, maybe one room. We still need to figure out where we’re going to put the nursery.”
“Ah, I’ve actually already thought of that.” he stood up. “Care to come take a look?”
You took his hand and he led you a little bit down the hall. One of the rooms that you knew had just been a guest room had been cleared out of everything and the walls repainted to a blank white. “I was waiting for you to mention the nursery so you could pick out whatever furniture you wanted to decorate it with. I also didn’t know if you wanted to wait until we knew the gender to go shopping so I’ve been putting it off. But we have this room and it’s not too far from us so we’ll always be close by when they need tending.”
You looked around the blank room, “It’s perfect.”
Soon enough it was time for your first ultrasound. You were excited and a little nervous. This was the first time you were going to actually see your baby. And despite Sylus saying that the doctor’s in the N109 zone were just as good as any Linkon doctor you insisted on going to Linkon for your appointments.
You laid back on the exam bed and rolled up your shirt to expose your stomach. At this point in your pregnancy they said you’d be able to see the baby, hear their heartbeat, but gender would still be a few weeks away. The cold jelly was applied and the technician moved the wand around for a moment before finding the baby.
“And there they are.” the technician turned the screen to you to see. On the screen was a blurry little blob in the shape of a bean. Your baby.
You gripped Sylus’s hand tighter, tears gathering in your eyes. “That’s our baby.” you said breathlessly. “Oh wow, there really is a baby in there.”
“Yes there is.” the technician laughed. “Feels a lot more real now, huh?”
“Yeah.” you let Sylus wipe the tears from your eyes. “Oh wow. I didn’t think I’d get this emotional.”
“It’s perfectly normal, especially for first time moms.” the technician said. “How are we feeling, dad?”
“They’re perfect.” Sylus said.
“About as perfectly healthy as an eight week old bean could be--oh.” the technician paused and moved the wand around some more. “Well then, hello to you too.”
“What? What is it?” you asked.
“Your baby has a roommate in there.” the technician pointed out on the screen. “Baby one, and just over here, baby two.”
“Baby two?” your mouth dropped open. “I’m having twins?”
“Looks like it. Congratulations! Since you are carrying twins there are some more details to go over for multiple fetus pregnancies.”
“Uh huh…” you turned to Sylus. “Twins. We’re having twins.”
Sylus’s smile threatened to split his face in half. “This is amazing.”
“Of course you’re excited, you don’t have to push out two babies at once.” you continued to stare at the screen. “Oh my god.”
After the initial shock wore off the technician found the heartbeat for you and that was when the emotions of the day started to bubble over. You started sobbing hearing those steady little thumps over the monitor. Two strong healthy heartbeats for two tiny little beans. When you looked over at Sylus you saw that he was crying too. You hadn’t expected him to get so emotional over this as well but it was comforting in a way. He was just as excited for this as you, probably more excited honestly.
You got your due date from the doctor and your follow up appointment made and a copy of the ultrasound picture before leaving. In about seven more months you were going to have not one but two babies. Sylus was over the moon. The second you returned home he had put the pictures in a scrapbook he had bought to catalog your pregnancy and happily announced to the twins that they were not going to be the only twins in your life anymore. Luke and Keiran were ecstatic hearing the news that you were having twins and gave you huge hugs.
Time kept moving ever forward and you were growing larger and larger as the babies grew with you. You were officially into the second trimester and you looked it. Carrying twins made what would have already been a big pregnancy belly even bigger. It was also at this time that you learned what exactly you were carrying. You had debated keeping the gender of the babies a surprise but knew you were too impatient for that.
Girls. You were carrying twin baby girls.
“Guess you really are getting a mini-me, huh?” you said when the doctor announced the gender to you.
“Not just a mini-you. A pair of mini-yous.” Sylus said, his smile brighter than the sun as he stared at the screen. “What was it you had said a couple months ago at the arcade? ‘Two little cuties together are definitely twice as adorable.’ I believe it was.”
“Yeah, I think that was it.” you sighed. “I didn’t think when I said that it would lead to us actually having two little cuties though.”
“Winning that plushie was the best thing that could have happened that day. It led to all this.” he kissed you soundly. “
Sylus had already been a little over protective of you when you were just carrying one baby but now that he knew you were growing twins he was getting to be a little overbearing. He wanted you to rest as much as you could and to just focus on growing the twins but you were getting bored just sitting around all day.
Eventually you were able to convince Sylus to let you go out shopping for furniture for the nursery. He was more than happy to take you to the most expensive baby store in the city and told you to ignore price on everything and just get whatever you wanted. You rolled your eyes but didn’t try to fight him on it. You wanted the best for your babies after all. You certainly weren’t going to say no to a very nice but stupidly expensive recliner to put in the nursery either. You had a feeling you were going to be in it a lot and you wanted it to be as comfy as possible.
It was as you were looking at cradles, debating whether to get connecting ones for the twins or not that you felt something in your stomach. It was strange and you weren’t sure what you felt until it happened again. It was little and fluttery and you realized with a start that the babies were moving! You could feel them moving!
You paused, a hand over your swollen stomach as you let yourself focus on the fluttering inside.
Sylus noticed you stop and immediately concern etched into his face. “Something wrong? Are you feeling sick? Do we need to go home?”
“No. Nothing’s wrong.” you assured him with an easy smile. “I just felt the babies move for the first time and it caught me off guard.”
“They’re moving?” Sylus gasped, touching a hand to your stomach.
“I don’t know if you can feel them from the outside yet.” you told him. “But they are definitely kicking around a lot in there from what I can feel. It feels really fluttery, like I have actual butterflies in my tummy.”
“Our little butterflies growing in their cocoon.” he said, rubbing your stomach affectionately. “Make sure you grow even stronger girls, daddy wants to be able to feel you kick too.”
“Not too strong, I don’t want them bruising my insides or each other.”
“A little sibling rivalry is good but yes, keep in mind not to hurt your mother when you move around my little butterflies.” he said.
You smiled, your eye catching a spinning mobile. The charms on the mobile were colorful butterflies that spun around while a soft lullaby played. “I think I have an idea on what kind of theme to make the nursery now.”
By the end of the week Sylus had the nursery walls painted to resemble a beautiful flowering garden. The furniture you had picked out was being assembled by the twins and arranged around the room per your instructions. You had even gotten the ceiling painted to resemble a brilliant blue sky with fluffy white clouds in various fun shapes. It didn’t matter if the N109 zone wasn’t like Linkon, your kids could have a beautiful blue sky and garden from the comfort of their room.
It was all coming together so perfectly. With each passing day the house was looking more like a home safe for babies to crawl around in and you were one day closer to being parents.
You were lying in beed one evening as you entered your third trimester. Sylus was next to you talking to the twins since they decided to stay awake all evening and not let you get any sleep. Seems they were taking after their father’s nocturnal habits.
“And remember girls, your mother is going to say that I can’t sing but you need to know that she is wrong. I am a perfectly capable singer and she’s just jealous, that’s why she doesn’t take me out to karaoke anymore.”
“Don’t listen to him girls, he is actually tone deaf.”
“Stop contradicting me in front of the children.”
“Stop lying to them then.”
“I’m not lying.”
“You are tone deaf though. It’s actually kind of amazing.”
Sylus frowned, whisper conspiratorially with your stomach. “I’m going to let her think she’s won but in truth you two know the truth. Daddy can sing.”
You gave Sylus a nudge with your foot. “Be glad it takes too much energy to sit up so I can’t properly chastise you.”
“If it keeps you here in bed where I know I can keep an eye on you and the kids then I will plenty glad of it.” Sylus scooted back up the bed next to you. “Getting close now, how are you feeling?”
“I’m feeling like I’m about ready to pop. I think if I plug my nose and you blow into my mouth the girls will just pop out of me. Can we test it?”
“I think it’s best to let them pass organically but I can accommodate part of your request.” he leaned forward and kissed you.
“Sylus, can I ask you something?”
“Anything?”
“If my body doesn’t snap back to what it was like from before the twins, will you still think I’m beautiful?”
His brow furrowed. “How dare you think I would think you were less beautiful for anything. I don’t care what your body looks like, kitten. Right now you are the most beautiful I have ever seen you. Your body is swollen with our children. You practically glow from the inside out. And after you have the kids you will still be the most gorgeous woman in all of creation. Never doubt that. In fact,” he whistled to Mephisto and the mechanical bird flew off to grab something out of a drawer and came back to deposit it in Sylus’s hand. “I think now is the perfect time to give you this.”
He held out a small velvet box to you. You opened it to find the most beautiful ring you had ever seen inside. “Is this…?”
“I meant what I said, beloved. You are the most beautiful and amazing woman that has ever been. You fill every day of my life with joy and light and music. From the moment I met you I knew that I wanted you to not only be my wife but the mother of my children. Now that our kids are nearly born I think it is about time I make this official as well.” he took the ring out, “Will you marry me and be my wife?”
“Yes. Of course I will!” you nodded, tears in your eyes.
He slipped the ring on your finger and kissed you again. “You make me the happiest I have ever been every single day.” he murmured against your lips. “After the girls are born we can start wedding planning?”
“You don’t want to get married before they come?” you asked.
“We can, but I’d like it if we could have them in the wedding pictures. Not that I wouldn’t love to see you as a pregnant bride but I think having them dressed as little flower girls would be far cuter. What do you think?”
“I think I like that idea.” you looked down at your stomach. “Hear that girls? After you’re born you get to be flower girls in mommy and daddy’s wedding.”
The girls had finally stopped kicking around for the night so you didn’t get any kind of answer back. But at least you could go to bed now. You looked at the ring on your finger and looked back at Sylus. “I love you, my fiance.”
“Fiance,” he tested the word on his tongue, “I like the sound of that. And in a couple months after the girls are born and we’ve had time to settle into parent life I’ll be able to call you wife.”
“Fiance. Wife. Mother. I’m collecting a lot of new names.”
“That reminds me,” Sylus said, “We still haven’t talked about what we are going to name the twins.”
“Oh fucking hell…”
~~~
Sylus was away. He had a business deal that he needed to go see and no matter how much he tried to get them to do it remotely the seller refused adamantly that it could only be done in person. This was a problem for Sylus in many ways, the first and biggest being that you were now three days past your due date and he was very anxious about being apart from you.
He was about to cancel the whole thing but you had assured him that if the twins hadn’t popped out already the chances they were going to come during the twenty four hours he wasn’t home wasn’t going to happen. So with much nagging from your part, and a little honesty about needing some time alone to relax without his hovering, he left.
That was the first mistake. The second mistake was deciding to take a trip over to Linkon without anyone there to assist you. You were in the supermarket looking at snacks when you felt a powerful and painful cramp that made you drop the bag of chips you were holding.
“Oh no. Oh no no no no no no no no no!” Was that a contraction? Please no! You couldn’t go into labor while Sylus was gone!
Maybe it was just Braxton Hicks contractions. There was no way the babies were coming right after you assured Sylus that there was no way it was going to happen while he was gone. No way!
You tried to bend over and pick up the chips but your belly wouldn’t let you so you just kinda left them there on the ground and grabbed a fresh bag from the shelf. You were standing in the checkout line when another contraction hit, just as intense as the last. Shit!
“Ma’am, are you alright?” the friendly cashier asked.
“Oh, I’m fine. I think.” you breathed through the pain. “But I may be having contractions.”
“Oh dear, do you need us to call an ambulance?”
“No. No, I’m sure it’s fine. Thank you though.” you grabbed your groceries and took them out to the car.
You sat down inside the car and cursed. These were not Braxton Hicks. They were too powerful to be fake. You were actually going into labor. You were going to give birth today. And Sylus wasn’t fucking here!
“Oh he is going to kill me.” you started the car. You were only a short distance from the hospital so it didn’t make sense to call for an ambulance or anything like that.
As you were driving over you got another contraction. The time between them felt like they got a lot shorter. You cursed and hit the call button on the car. “Call Sylus.” you said.
There was a single ring before Sylus picked up. “Hello sweetie, what are--”
“The babies are coming.” you cut him off.
“Are you serious?” his light tone immediately sobered up.
“Yes. I started having contractions and I’m on my way to the hospital now.”
“Okay. I’m leaving now I’ll be there as soon as possible.” you heard someone in the background say something followed by a single gun shot. “Tell Luke and Kieran to get you there safely and--”
“Actually I’m driving myself. I left Luke and Keiran back at the mansion.” you winced.
“You--” he sighed. “Right. Fine. Be careful. I’ll be there soon. Try not to give birth until I get there.”
“I’ll do my best. Sorry for making you leave. If I hadn’t insisted--”
“You thought you had more time before the babies were coming. It’s alright, kitten. I’ll see you soon, I love you.”
“Love you too.” you hung up as you pulled into the hospital.
You were immediately taken back to a room and changed into a hospital gown. Thankfully the doctor said that you were still a ways off from being ready to deliver so Sylus had time to get over but it didn’t make the experience any less frustrating. You were in pain, you were alone, and you were also really hungry but the doctor said you couldn’t have anything other than like ice chips since you were birthing twins.
You were laid up in bed, your water had broken an hour ago and your body was getting steadily closer to being ready to deliver. The doctor had just checked how far you were dilated and you were still not at the ten centimeters you needed to be but you were getting close.
“Girls, you gotta listen to mommy.” you told your stomach, “You have to wait until your dad gets here to come out, alright? Please just hold on until your dad gets here. Please. He’ll be heartbroken if he misses this.”
Just as you were saying that the door to your room burst open and Sylus scanned the room before his eyes landed on you. “It hasn’t happened yet, has it? I didn’t miss it.” he asked.
“No. You’re just in time.” relieved tears started streaming down your face. Sylus came up and kissed you.
“Sorry for taking so long, I got here as fast as I could. Are you alright?”
“Outside of the fact that my body is preparing to push two babies out of my vagina, I’m doing pretty good now that you’re here.” you pressed your sweaty face to his arm. “Can you clean up first though? You’re kinda covered in blood.”
“Shit.” he cursed and went to the bathroom to wash the spatter of blood off of him.
The labor was long and painful but with Sylus by your side it made the pain bearable. You were glad he was so strong considering anyone lesser may have had their hand broken by how hard you were squeezing. It was the greatest joy and relief when the screams of babies filled the air in the delivery room.
“And there they are, two perfectly healthy baby girls.” the doctor and nurses wiped them off and Sylus cut the umbilical cords. Once the babies were clean they handed them off to you. Their cries quieted down in your arms.
“Hi babies,” you sniffed, trying to catch your breath. “You are the most precious things in all of creation.”
“They are absolutely perfect.” Sylus stroked one of their downy heads. Tears were falling from his eyes. You rarely ever saw Sylus cry but the birth of your daughters was a more than worthwhile excuse to let go. You yourself had been crying since you started pushing.
“The new little loves of my life,” Sylus said, bending closer to kiss the babies and you on top of your heads. “You will want for nothing.”
“Don’t go spoiling them rotten already, they literally just came out of me.”
“I can’t help it. They are my little princesses, they deserve to be treated as such.” he turned to you, “And you did such a good job, sweetie. How are you feeling?”
“Exhausted, but happy.” you nuzzled your face against one of the twin’s heads. “We’re parents now.”
“That we are. Now we can plan the wedding and get started on having even more kids.”
“For goodness sake, the babies aren’t even an hour old yet and you’re already talking about pumping me full of more? Give me some time to breathe at least.”
“Right. I know.” he sighed, taking one of the twins into his arms. “This has been the best day of my life and all I want is for it to keep going on forever.”
“But now the best part comes, taking them home.”
~~~
The first couple of weeks were the most chaotic with the new babies in the house. The day you brought them home you introduced them to Luke and Kieran who started bawling over them. It was actually really sweet. Sylus had even introduced Mephisto to the babies.
“These two are your number one priority from now on, Mephisto.” he had told the bird. “Watch them like a hawk.”
Mephisto squawked indignantly at being compared to another bird but followed diligently when you took the twins back to the nursery.
One evening you woke up in the middle of the night. Ever since the twins had been born your sleep schedule had been messed up and getting through the entire night in one go was hard. You sat up and noticed that Sylus wasn’t in bed. That wasn’t so strange since he did a lot of business at night but he had said he was refraining from deals and auctions until the babies were a bit older.
So where was he?
You got up and shuffled down the hall. Sure enough, he was in the nursery laid back in the recliner, both the babies fast asleep on his chest.
You waved at him and he gave a small nod of his head to show he saw you. You crept closer, careful not to make any noise. “Were they fussing?” you whispered as quietly as you could, not wanting to wake the girls.
“A little.” he whispered back. “But I sang them a lullaby and they went right back to sleep.”
The fact that Sylus’s tone deaf lullabies actually worked to soothe the girls back to sleep was baffling and infuriating. “You need some help getting them back in the crib?”
“No. They’re fine just like this. I’ll move them back to the crib when I’m sure they’re not going to wake up again.” he said.
“Meaning you just want to stay cuddling with them.”
“Also yes.”
“Well, I’m going to go abc to bed. Don’t stay in here all night, okay?”
“I won’t.” he said but you knew it was a lie. He’d move in here just to be that much closer to them every hour of the day.
~~~
As time passed and the twins grew life evened out. There were many late nights soothing their cries and days spent changing dirty diapers and teaching them how to sit up and crawl. Sylus spent as much time with them as he possibly could. It almost made you jealous seeing how absolutely obsessed he was with your daughters. But seeing him taking care of and playing with them only made your heart swell with affection. He was such a good dad.
Right now Sylus wasn’t around though. Right now, the girls sat with you in your bridal suite, dressed in their little flower girl dresses while you got dressed in your wedding gown.
“So, girls, how do I look?” you turned to the twins who burbled and tugged on their little tulle skirts. “Lyra, Opal, please. Can you look at mommy?” Typical of six month old babies, they continued to ignore you.
“Alright, time for first look with daddy. You girls ready?” you asked the twins. They kinda just looked around, not really understanding anything you were saying but they weren’t fussing or crying so you took it as a win. “Great! Let’s go show him how pretty we all look.”
You placed the twins in the little wagon that had been decorated to match the wedding decor and pulled them behind you out of the suite.
The photographer was going to do your first look first and then bring in the girls. You saw Sylus at the end of the hallway, haloed by afternoon light and wearing a crisp handsome suit. His hands were behind his back, fidgeting slightly as he waited. You could see him tense up when he heard you approaching.
You deliberately slowed your steps just to tease him a little more before tapping his shoulder. He turned around, tears already misting his eyes as he took you in. “You look…breathtaking. I actually get to marry this angelic woman?”
“You look very handsome as well. The suit is crisp.” you smoothed out his tie.
“Can I kiss you or would that ruin your makeup?”
“If it smudges I’ll fix it.” you wrapped your arms around him as he kissed you passionately. You pulled back with wide matching smiles. “You want to see the girls?”
“Yes. Where are our little princesses?” his eyes lighted even more.
You turned around and motioned for the staff to wheel your babies over. “Oh there are the rest of my girls.” Sylus said, stooping down and hoisting either child on his hips. “You look so pretty in your little dresses. My precious little flowers.”
“Look at the little booties they have on. Isn’t that the most precious thing you’ve ever seen?” you wiggled one of their feet to their tiny sparkly shoes.
“They look every bit as beautiful and perfect as their mother.” he kissed both their heads. “To think, that after today I not only get to wake up to these two every morning but next to my wife as well.”
You stood there, watching your soon to be husband coo and fawn over your daughters as they giggled and tugged on their father’s expensive new suit. This was everything you had ever dreamt of having. It wasn’t a dream though. It was real. This beautiful life you were living was all yours. You glanced down in the wagon and saw a pair of hearts plushie that you had won at a claw machine over a year ago nestled inside. It had been wore down by the twins in recent months but seeing it, even with its stains and slightly misshapen stuffing filled you with joy.
You looked back at Sylus and the girls. Even all this time later you could remember what brought on this beautiful life. Two little cuties together are definitely twice as adorable. And you knew it was true.
“Ready to go get married?” you asked Sylus, taking one of the girls from him.
He smiled, taking your free hand. “As ready as I have ever been.”
Tumblr media
Sweat trickled down his forehead as he worked. He was hunched over his desk, hands aching and mind clouded as he continued his repairs to his hoverboard. It was late –3 am to be exact– and Ekko’s been sleepless since the battle on the bridge with Jinx. You were worried about him. You knew how stressful this was for him; between failing to save his former best friend and making sure everything stays afloat with the firelights, he was basically drowning in his work and stress. Ekko was a relatively calm person, but whenever you tried to talk to him about everything, he would just shut down and push you away, so you learned to give him space, but tonight you couldn’t take it anymore.
“I’m surprised you haven’t frozen to stone like that,” you spoke softly, not wanting to startle him. His workshop door was cracked open and all the lights except for the one that sat right above his desk were dimmed. “...you should be asleep,” he whispered, not looking up from his work. His voice was weary and tired, you could hear the stress in his voice, it made your heart crack. “So should you, love,” your voice stayed soft, calming. The last thing you wanted was to be another harsh thing in his life right now. “The bed misses you,” you joked softly as you came up behind him, your soft hands landing on his shoulders. They were tense, his whole body was, and the tenseness didn’t falter when you touched him like how it usually did. “I’ll be there soon,” he uttered. “How soon? By the end of the month? Because I haven’t seen you in bed in 3 weeks,” you were sincere with a half joking tone as your hands gently ran down his body as you hugged him from behind, “I miss you baby…just…come on for tonight, get some rest. It’ll be here in the morning- I’ll even come in and help you with it,” you pleaded softly, your lips against his neck as you eyed his work from his shoulder. You didn’t want him to open up before he was ready, you didn’t want to push his limits, and you didn’t want to bitch to him about how closed off he’s been, you just wanted him to get some rest.
He sighed at your words, his hands pausing their movements for just a small moment, “Just-...let me finish this up, okay?” he uttered, his tone slightly softer than before. You huffed as you felt him lean into your arm, planting a small kiss on your upper arm as he started working again. You knew him, he wasn’t going to come to bed any time soon, he would just magically find something else that needed his attention and forget all about getting rest. “You’re helpless, you know that?” you huffed out against the shell of his ear, “your whole workshop is gonna be renovated before you come to bed.” He could hear the slight irritation in your words as you removed your touch from him, it made him tense up more. He knew you were being patient with him, and knowing that he was making it harder for you somehow made him feel worse than the stress did.
“Wait,” he uttered out before you got too close to the door. You immediately turn around, as if it was a reflex, “yes Ekko?” “...c’here,” he uttered, his hands abandoning his work as he looked over his shoulder. You didn’t fight the urge to walk back over to him. Soon, you were standing in between his legs and his hands were on your hips. “I’m sorry baby,” he sighed, his hands giving a loving squeeze to your body. His stress seemed to melt away the more you were around him, and you loved that, but constantly trying to get him to melt was frustrating, so you wanted to milk this as much as you could.
“Prove it,” you huffed, feigning irritation as you crossed your arms. For the first time in a while, he cracked a smile, chuckling as he immediately picked up on your game. “You want me to prove that I’m sorry?” he chuckled, his hands running up your waist, pushing up your (his) shirt as he did so. “Yea,” you huffed, your act almost breaking as he tugged you down on his lap, making you straddle him. “And tell me princess, how do you want me to do that?” he smirked as your hands rested on his shoulders as his hand gently grabbed your chin, running his thumb across your bottom lip. “Surprise me,” you smiled, finally breaking your act. It felt like he was a magnet, slowly pulling you closer, the space in between you closing at a steady pace. “Surprise you, huh? I got you~” he uttered before pressing his lips into yours.
This was the quickest you’ve ever seen Ekko forget about a project. Your lips danced with his as his hands roamed your body, running from your waist to your hip down to your thighs before finally resting on your ass, his hands giving it a soft squeeze. Your hands weren't much different; running from his shoulders down his chest to his abs and then back up to his blonde locs. It didn't take long for all restraint to disappear once his tongue slipped into your mouth, a soft whine escaping your throat as he explored your mouth. You felt him smile into the kiss, making your heart melt. If this was all it took to get him to loosen up, you would’ve been tried this.
You felt him remove one of his hands off your body, reaching behind you to tug his hoverboard off the table and onto the floor, giving him space to grab your hips and lift you up onto the table. You stayed connected in a messy kiss as he gripped your thighs and toyed with the waistband of your night shorts. You finally broke away, strings of saliva connecting you both as you panted softly, trying to catch your breath as you smiled down at him as he tugged at your waistband, a smile on his face as while. “There we go~” you cooed, your soft hands cupping his cheeks, “Finally got you to smile f’me,” you giggled, his smile only growing bigger. “Who wouldn’t for you, baby?” he chuckled as he tugged down your waistband, silently signalling to you to lift your hips, which you happily obliged.
He pressed soft, wet kisses all along your jaw and neck as he tossed your shorts somewhere behind him, pushing your thick thighs apart, revealing the damp spot on your orange, lacy panties, bringing a smirk on his face. “All that for me?” he smirked slyly, gripping you by your thighs and tugging you closer to the edge of the table. “No one else but you,” you giggled. “You must have really missed me,” he chuckled before pressing a kiss into your lips, swallowing the soft moan you let out when the pad of his thumb pushed into your clit through the flimsy fabric. The pretty sounds continued to spill out as he drew tight circles into the little bud.
At some point, he slowly stood up, his lips still locked with yours and his fingers still moving. “Lay back f’me baby,” he muttered against your lips lowly, but you weren't giving much of a choice when he placed a hand on your stomach and gently pushed you back. A shiver went down your spine as he placed soft, wet kisses down your body, making his way between your thighs, sucking hickeys over top of the stretch marks on your inner thighs. You leaned up on your elbows, looking down your body and watching him work on your body, allowing your eyes to lock with his. God damn it, he was fucking gorgeous like this; in between your legs, looking up with hooded but loving eyes, blonde locs falling in his face just a little. A gasped escaped your lips as he kissed your clothed cunt before he tugged the messy fabric to the side. Ekko bit back a groan as he watched strings of your arousal fall from the fabric as your pussy shimmered under the dim lighting. His dick leaked in his pants a little at the sight. “You’re so fucking pretty~” he cooed softly, making your heart melt and your cheeks flush, but before you could even respond, his mouth was on your cunt, coaxing struggled whines and moans from you as the sound of him slurping and licking your core filled the room. Your fingers tangled in his locs, tugging his head deeper between your legs as your head lulled back, your hips grinding against his face as he gripped your thigh with one hand, tugging you impossibly closer to him as he slipped one of his long, thick fingers into your tight hole.
He ate you like a starved man, but honestly the way he’s been locked up in his workshop, you wouldn’t be surprised if he was one. He now had two fingers pumping in and out of you, curling perfectly against that one gummy spot inside of you as he slurped and sucked at your clit, the juices from your previous orgasm pooling in the palm of his hand and on his desk under you.
He reluctantly detached from your cunt after your third orgasm leaving you a panting and shaking mess in front of him as he smirked down at you. “How’s that for proof?” he smirked, earning a breathless giggle from you as he licked your juices off his now dripping hand. “Ya know, I came in here to try and help you un-stress~” you giggled. “Hm, then you did a amazing fucking job baby,” he chuckled lowly, leaning down to lock lips with you, allowing you to taste yourself on his lips.
“Lets go to bed~” he uttered, scooping you off his table, leaving a mess for him to clean up later.
Neon Lights and Blood Fights drabble
Fighter!simon x reader: Simon’s first time seeing you, and the first time he’s ever truly wanted something for himself.
Simon stood with his arms crossed, black jacket pulling at his muscles on his shoulders. Brows pinched together tightly, his lips downturned–although you couldn't see that part past the black baklava he was wearing, skull painted on the bottom half of it, hood pulled up over his head. Eyes blacked out by the dark smudging around them. Blending into the scene like a ghost despite his size.
Eyes scanning out over the crowd, air murky with smoke and the neon lights in the basement.
He couldn't seem to get away from the scent of mildew that filled the air. Groaning to himself about how he wanted to take his 5th smoke break of the hour just to get out of the thick air and men shouting.
A fight was going on in the makeshift ring in the middle of it all, Gaz repeatedly slamming his fist into some poor bloke's face till it was nearly mush. The crowd ate it up. Simon rolled his eyes as he swept his gaze around again. Everyone was behaving–or behaving for the event, no other fights breaking out, no one causing unnecessary problems.
His boots thudded against the ground as he walked over to the makeshift bar, looked pretty legit for being set up that afternoon, but Price knew good people for it.
It was packed with drunk men, shouting and spewing nonsense.
His eyes landed on a familiar face, who was practically slumped over the bar with a drink in hand, squinting at his phone that was turned up too bright. The blond man shoving his way through the crowd, and damn near slamming his arm down next to the man, leaning towards him.
“Yeah I mean,” the man hiccuped a bit, rubbing his mouth, trying to show the bartender something on his phone, “She’s so hot ya know, but god just a bitch–like she just wants me ta-to be there allll the tiimmmee. Then when I actually wanna see her she’s all like, ‘bleh i’m so busy with work,’ and ‘wah wah i’m too tired tonight’.”
The bartender rolled his eyes as he mixed the drink, looking at the man with an annoyed gaze.
“It’s so annoying, she was cool at the beginning but ugh, she’s like…she’s so hot and good in bed but jesus it’s like, like she, like I’m supposed to just go to her whenever, like, I need my time ya know, my man time and shit…”
The lumbering man felt his stomach churn with what he was hearing, growing even more irritated with the bastard than he was.
The man looked at his phone again, sighing, muttering to himself, “Wish she had bigger tits though…”
“Nice night, ey mate?” Simon’s voice was gruff as he spoke–the man jumping in his seat and whipping his head around.
“Christ–uh, Ghost–heyy man uh–”
The man's hair was sweaty and stuck to his forehead, face flushed as he fumbled with his phone. Simon glanced at it, and felt his fist tighten up and his heartbeat speed up.
“Price’s been lookin' for ya, got some things to settle with ‘im.”
“Y-yeah,” the man looked to the bartender, who snorted out his nose and left the two alone, sending Simon a quick look, “I, I’ve got the money–almost um got the money like i’m so close to it–”
Simon cut him off by slapping his back roughly, jolting the man forward, digging his ribs into the bars corner.
“Oh I’m sure,” there was a beat of silence before he gestured to the phone on the bar, “That yer bird there?”
The man gulped and looked to his phone, as did Simon, a picture of you on the screen–it was a picture of you sitting with your knees to your chest, you were in a pair of black sports shorts that were just starting to ride up on your ass and a worn green t-shirt with some soda slogan on it. Your hair up messily and a fork resting between your lips. You were looking up at the camera through your brows a bit annoyed, a bowl of pasta sitting in front of you.
Simon felt his teeth grind together a bit, forcing himself to peel his eyes away from the phone to look at the much less pleasing sight of the drunk man who was sitting with his mouth open.
Simon agreed, you sure were something that was easy on the eyes. More than easy, he could look at you all day everyday if given the chance.
“Um…yeah?” the man sounded unsure of himself, slightly confused, “She’s my girlfriend.”
“Hm,” Simon hummed to himself, looking down at the picture again, “Pretty thing, ain't she?”
The man chuckled in a douche manner, “She’s pretty hot yeah, that’s why I’m dating her.”
There was a weird sense of boasting that rolled off the man's tone, eyeing Simon up and down.
“Wanna see more?”
Simon's gaze grew dark as he looked back to the drunk sitting there, who scrambled for his phone and started tapping at it, before holding it out to Simon–whose muscles tensed up and whose scowl deepened.
It was a picture of you on your hands and knees, chest nearly to the floor and your arm bent uncomfortably to reach under a shelf grabbing for something. Obviously unaware the picture was being taken.
“The fuck is that?” the titan of a man felt his voice drop lower, shoulders squaring out.
The drunk seemed to not catch the shift in atmosphere, “Got a great ass, don’t she?”
He looked back to his phone as Simon grabbed the man's wrist tightly, making him shout out a swear and look up with wide eyes.
“Hey what the hel–”
“Delete it.”
“Wh-what?”
“Delete. It.”
Simon’s tone was scary smooth, pulling the man's arms closer to him as he squeezed, leaning in closer.
“Uh–I…yeah I, ok I will…” Simon let go of the man and he stumbled back slightly, before shakily bringing his phone back to him, “Ya know she’s my girlfr–”
One look from the much bigger man caused him to shut up, snapping his attention back down to this phone.
“Ok, it’s gone…ass.”
Simon nodded, then reached around to grab the back on the man's collar. Pulling him up as Simon straightened up, arm solid with muscle as the scrawny man stumbled and reached around for him.
“Since ya ain't doin' nothin’, sure Price would like to 'av a word wi' ya…”
“I-I–”
Simon dragged him away, leading him out of the crowd stumbling and tripping over his feet with Simon’s wide steps. The blonds mind wandering back to the bird on the screen, his heart jumping again in his chest. For a moment he was taken out of the grimy place he was stuck in for the night, the air seemed easier to breathe and the nose not so grating on his ears…he had to see you again.
LOOPED: MIYA ATSUMU
Tumblr media
she's stuck in a loop: texting him late on a friday night, letting him into her bed, clinging to him, silently begging for him to stay, only for him to leave again.
masterlist
tags/warnings: friends with benefits, implied love triangle, angst, hooking up, unhappy ending, kinda softcore smut but no actual smut, hardly proofread, mdni
word count: 2.2k
an: thinking abt starting a gen taglist for works like this since im planning on pivoting away from writing a bunch of series and focusing more on things like this. idk. let me know what you think if you want i can't make you. also do i think this is my best writing? no but writing has been so hard lately im proud of myself for getting this out
Tumblr media
Atsumu likes to hold her after they fuck.
His bare leg is hooked over her hip, and his arm is thrown over her shoulder, pulling her into his chest. It’s hot under her sheets, and Astumu’s skin is coated in a thin layer of sweat. It’s humid and unbearable, but she bears it, holding onto him by his waist, because it’s the only time he’s like this with her.
“Thank you,” he says, and he tucks her head under his chin. His eyes are closed, and he lets out a long, deep breath. “I needed that.”
He thanks her like she did him a favor. Her arms go a bit tighter around his waist, and she presses her ear against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. “Yeah,” she mumbles, her cheek pressed flat against his skin. “Anytime.”
Atsumu runs a hand over the back of her head, smoothing down her hair. His fingers continue, dragging slowly down the center of her spine. “Do you mind if I stay for a little while?” he asks, voice dropping to a raspy whisper that makes her feel so desperate that shame boils just under his touch.
Her eyes close. “No,” she says, her lips brushing against his bare chest as she speaks. “You can stay for as long as you want.”
It’s like this every week. She always expects it to be different, and it never is. Every week, when it feels like it’s been dark for too long and she’s alone and can’t sleep, she texts him after she promised herself she wouldn’t. Sometimes he responds and says he’ll be right over, sometimes he replies and says he can’t. Sometimes he shows up without saying anything at all.
It’s been like this for a while. Long enough for her to feel embarrassed that she’s letting him drag her along like this.
He hums, and she can feel vibrations throughout his chest. “You’re so soft,” he tells her, “it makes it hard to leave.”
Atsumu will leave, though. Before the morning comes, he’ll be out the door without saying a word to her. It doesn’t seem very difficult, when he does go. He always peels her off of him like she’s some piece of dirty laundry and slinks out of the room when he thinks she’s fallen asleep.
His breathing steadies like he’s slipping into sleep. She tilts her chin forward, and places a soft kiss on the center of his chest. She won’t be able to sleep. She’s too wired, it’s too hot, and her neck lays uncomfortably on top of the pillow. When the morning comes she’s going to be sore and tired, and it will be a strain to get anything done.
Her eyes close, and she’s sure that Atsumu’s knocked out when she whispers, “You don’t have to leave, y’know.”
He doesn’t say anything. She wasn’t expecting him to. She keeps her eyes closed, and thinks of his warmth, trying her best to avoid thoughts of it disappearing when the morning comes.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
Atsumu stands at the edge of her bed and pulls on a pair of sweatpants. “I’m sorry to leave so soon,” he tells her, thumbs tucked under the waistband as they settle at the bottom of his hips. “I have to be at the gym so goddamn early tomorrow.”
Her legs are crossed underneath the blanket and she sits upright, holding the pillow he usually sleeps on against her lap. “”S okay,” she tells him, watching as he grabs his hoodie off of the floor and throws it on over his head. “I’m not offended or anything.”
“Honestly, I probably shouldn’t have come over tonight,” he confesses, and now she’s starting to feel a bit of a sting. “I just really needed to see you tonight.”
She doesn’t know how to feel about this. She shuffles a bit, an indiscernible feeling settling uncomfortably over her skin. Atsumu doesn’t say things like that. She doesn’t know how to react. “Is something wrong?”
Atsumu freezes, placing his hands in the pocket of his sweatshirt. His expression is screwed up, knotted. Something is wrong. She leans forward, like she’s expecting him to whisper it in her ear, like he’s about to profess something profound and close to his chest. But Atsumu just shakes his head, “Nah, it’s nothing,” he says. He pats the pockets of his sweatpants. “Have you seen my phone?”
She’s disappointed, but she doesn’t know why. She leans back and reaches towards her nightstand, yanking her phone off the charger and dialing Atsumu’s number. She knows it by heart, and hopes that he doesn’t notice. It buzzes from under her sheets.
He leaves half past midnight, forty minutes after he got there. She can’t sleep once he’s gone. She stays up, scrolling mindlessly through her phone, trying to wear down her mind, make it too tired to keep thinking of him.
Sakusa texts her. Five minutes past one. “Was Atsumu at your place?”
She ignores it.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
Atsumu lies on his side, and draws patterns on her bare stomach with the tip of his finger. She doesn’t say anything, out of fear of making him stop. She watches him instead, watching his face as he stares down at her midriff. He has this slight smile on his face, and it makes her feel pleasantly uneasy.
“I like your stomach,” he tells her. “I think it’s my favorite part of you.”
The smile that grows on her face must give her away. She’s grateful for how occupied he is with her skin. “You have a favorite part of me?”
“Yeah, I mean, I like all of you,” Atsumu tells her. “But I do have favorites. Your stomach, your nose, your thighs, fuck, just so much of you,” he sighs, as if overwhelmed. “I mean, a man can only take so much.”
She doesn’t think it’s fair, that she’s expected not to fall in love with him when he says things like that. So unabashedly, completely unprompted. And there is this small part of her that kind of resents him, for things like this, saying all of that when he’s going to leave her before the morning comes. But she likes it more than she could ever hate it. So she smiles, and she says, “I don’t think I could pick my favorite part of you,” and means it more than she should.
Atsumu’s hand stops, and he looks up at her. He grins, and it makes her stomach flip.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
It’s fifteen minutes to midnight, and she’s pacing in her bedroom, trying not to look at her phone. She texted him twenty minutes ago, and she thinks if she keeps herself from looking at her phone, it’ll make him respond quicker. She can’t back her logic, but she’s well past the point of reason.
He hadn’t talked to her all week. Which, she tries to tell herself, isn’t too weird. He’s busy. He’s a professional athlete. He has better things to do than entertain her and her whims, and what is she to him, really, besides a person to sleep with? They weren’t that close when they started hooking up, and it’s not like the fucking as brought them closer together.
But still, her stomach knots up with nerves. She feels like something’s wrong. Maybe she gave him too much of herself. Maybe he doesn’t want as much of her as she’s willing to give.
Her phone vibrates against her nightstand, and she nearly breaks a toe rushing to answer it. On her home screen is a notification from him.
Can’t make it tonight. Sorry.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
She always tries to give Atsumu what he wants. He likes it when she begs, so she begs. She gets down on her knees and begs to please him. He likes the feeling of her on top of him, thighs squeezing on either side of his hips, so she climbs on top of him, not stopping when her thighs start to burn. He likes it wet, so it’s wet. His hair tugged, his neck nibbled on, his back scratched. Whatever he likes, she gives it to him.
And he keeps making these small little grunts of pleasure and his eyes are fluttering, but Atsumu feels far away. Unimpressed with the way her body moves against his. His hands lay lazily on her hips, not gripping tightly on her flesh. He doesn’t whisper praise in her ear. He doesn’t bite down on his lip and tell her yes, he likes it like that, keep doing that. He’s quiet, withdrawn.
She keeps trying to give him more, and more, desperation clawing on the inside of her chest. But Atsumu gives her nothing. He takes what she offers silently, and it starts to feel like he’s keeping his eyes closed to avoid looking at her.
After, he doesn’t hold her. Atsumu lies on his back with his hands tucked under his head, staring at her ceiling. He doesn’t say anything.
Her body feels like it’s burning. She feels humiliated. The silence is bad but she thinks talking might be worse. She doesn’t want him to leave but she doesn’t want him to stay if it’s going to be more of this. The air is so thick she thinks she might choke on it.
Atsumu turns his head to look at her. “Have you talked to Omi recently?”
The question shocks her so badly she turns her head to him, face scrunched up in confusion. “What?”
He shrugs. “He hasn’t been talking to me lately. I was just wondering if he said anything to you.”
Her head straightens out and she looks back up at the ceiling. “He texted me the other week and asked if you were here. I didn’t know if I should tell him or not, and it didn’t really seem like any of his business, so I just didn’t respond.”
Atsumu hums. “I think he’s jealous of you.”
“Do you want him to be?” she asks at once, and then regrets it.
Atsumu doesn’t say anything to this. He gets quiet, and she has to bite down on her lip to keep herself from saying something else stupid. Somehow, the air gets heavier.
“I’m sorry,” she says after a minute of silence.
“It’s okay,” Atsumu says, and he doesn’t mean it. He leaves a minute later, and tells her it’s because he has an early practice, but she’s not stupid.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
Atsumu presses her against her bedroom wall, and when she closes her eyes, all she can see is him and Sakusa, arm’s slung around each other’s shoulders in a post-victory celebration earlier that day. And the way Atsumu looked at him makes her feel rotten. It hurts to remember, and Atsumu pounding into her does little to distract from it.
She’s the loser in this war, she thinks, arms around his shoulders and leg hooked over his hip, too disconnected from her body to feel anything. It doesn’t matter how many times Atsumu has crawled back into her bed and held her against his chest. It doesn’t matter how in love with him she is. It’s always Sakusa. It’ll always be Sakusa.
He holds her tightly after, their legs tangled together and his cheek resting on the top of her head. His phone’s in his pocket and it keeps buzzing. Atumu ignores it, and she can’t stop herself from thinking that it’s him.
She swallows. Her throat feels dry. “Someone keeps texting you,” she says, because she wants him to acknowledge it.
Atsumu inhales deeply. “Ignore it,” he says, “just lie with me.”
She closes her eyes, and does as she’s told.
✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚
Can I come over tonight?
He texted her first. He doesn’t usually, but he did. The notification popped up over a video the MSBY Black Jackals post-match. Meian’s giving a courtside interview, but just behind him, she can see Atsumu and Sakusa, shoulders squared and tensed, keeping a strict distance from each other as they exit the court. She can feel the chill through the screen of her phone.
She doesn’t know what it is that holds the both of them back from each other. Maybe it’s her. Maybe Sakusa doesn’t realize that Atsumu would drop her immediately if Sakusa ever asked him to.
She’s always known that he would, though. Whatever she has to offer doesn’t seem to compare to Sakusa. She’s just a temporary fix, really. Just something to hold Atsumu over until Sakusa realizes this.
She taps on the notification, and her conversation with Atsumu pops up. For a second, she scrolls through it. Minimal talking, mostly texts from her, with late responses from him. She can see it there, how much Atsumu doesn’t care about her. It doesn’t matter if he asks to come over or tells her he loves her stomach or how hard it is for him to leave. He just doesn’t care about her. Not the way she cares about him.
Her thumbs hover over the keyboard for a moment, paused in contemplation, before she types out a quick, yeah, sure, and hits send without thinking anymore about it.
If Sakusa hasn’t figured it out yet, then she’s not about to help him. She’ll just keep giving and giving, until there’s nothing left to give.
Alexia's Perfect Birthday
Alexia Putellas x Reader
The early morning light filters softly through the curtains, casting a golden glow over the bedroom. You stir awake, careful not to shift too much and wake the beauty lying beside you. Alexia’s face is relaxed, her long lashes resting against her skin, her breathing steady. She looks peaceful, and for a moment, you just watch her, overwhelmed with love for the woman who has been your everything for the past three years.
But today is special—her birthday. And you want it to be perfect.
Slowly, you slip out of bed, holding your breath as you carefully lift the covers and tiptoe towards the door. Once in the hallway, you let out a sigh of relief before heading straight to the kitchen. You had planned everything: fresh orange juice, croissants, eggs, and her favorite coffee, just the way she likes it. You hum softly as you work, making sure everything is perfect.
Just as you’re about to put the last thing on the tray, the bedroom door creaks open. Your heart jumps, and you curse under your breath. Of course, Alexia always has to wake up early.
You spin around, rushing towards her in the hallway. "No, no, no! Back to bed!" you tell her, placing your hands on her shoulders and gently pushing her back toward the bedroom.
She looks at you with sleepy, grumpy eyes. "What kind of birthday start is this? No kiss? Just orders?"
You sigh, leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips. "There. Happy now?"
She hums, clearly unimpressed but too tired to argue. With a small smirk, she turns and disappears back into the room. You shake your head, smiling as you return to the kitchen to finish preparing the tray.
Moments later, you walk back in, carefully balancing everything, and as you enter, you start singing, "Happy birthday to you…"
Alexia raises an amused eyebrow at your off-key performance but sits up, her expression softening when she sees the effort you’ve put in. You place the tray in front of her before leaning down to kiss her properly this time. She tries to deepen it, but you pull back with a pout.
"You ruined the surprise," you tease.
She grins. "Please, you’d have to wake up way earlier to surprise me properly." She pauses, looking at the breakfast. "But I love what you did for me."
You both settle in, eating together, laughing, and enjoying the peaceful morning. The sun streams through the windows, illuminating Alexia in a way that makes your heart clench. She looks effortlessly beautiful, and you can’t believe you’re lucky enough to call her yours.
After breakfast, you both get ready for training. You insist on driving today, telling her she deserves to be treated like a princess on her special day.
She laughs. "You driving? Now I’m scared. Are we even going to make it there in one piece?"
You gasp dramatically, pouting at her. But before you can fake your offense further, Alexia places her hand on your thigh and leans over, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek.
"I love you," she murmurs.
Your heart melts instantly, and you smile. "I love you too."
---
When you arrive at the training facility, you walk hand in hand into the locker room. But soon, Alexia is swept away, receiving birthday hugs and congratulations from teammates.
And then, there’s Mapi.
Her best friend has completely overdone it. The locker room is filled with balloons—so many that it looks like a birthday party for a five-year-old. Garlands hang from every available space, and in the center of it all sits an enormous cake with far too many candles.
Alexia stares at the cake, unimpressed. "You didn’t."
Mapi grins like an overexcited child. "Oh, I did. One candle for every year—thirty-one!"
Alexia sighs, shaking her head but smiling nonetheless. She may not love being reminded of her age, but she knows Mapi means well.
Training goes as usual, focused and intense, but the lightheartedness lingers. At lunch, the team gathers to eat cake and chat. The others ask Alexia what her plans are for the evening, and she tells them about the "reservation" you made.
What she doesn’t know is that it’s not just a reservation—it’s an entire surprise party.
Ingrid pulls you aside before you leave the facility. "Don’t worry," she whispers. "Everything is perfect. And I made sure Maria wasn’t in charge of decorations."
You exhale in relief. "Thank God."
---
Back home, you both get ready. You finish first and wait for Alexia in the living room. When she steps out of the bedroom, your breath catches.
She’s wearing a black dress, not too short, not too long, and the best part? It’s backless, showing off her muscles and tattoos.
"Is it too much?" she asks, a little unsure.
You shake your head, staring at her. "You look stunning."
She smiles, walking over to press a kiss to your lips. "So do you."
---
Later, as you arrive at the restaurant, Alexia frowns at the dark, seemingly closed place. "Are you sure this is the right place?"
You nod. "Positive."
"Happy Birthday!"
You open the door, guiding her inside, and suddenly the lights flick on.
Alexia jumps slightly, her eyes widening in surprise. Then, she turns to you, realization sinking in. You grin as she shakes her head, overwhelmed.
You gently push her toward her friends and family, watching as she hugs them all, her expression pure happiness. The night is perfect—laughter, dancing, drinking, playing games. She opens presents and thanks everyone, the warmth in her eyes never fading.
Then Mapi stands up. "I have a surprise for Alexia!"
Your stomach drops. Mapi hadn’t mentioned anything about this, and now you’re terrified. You glance at Ingrid, who looks equally clueless.
When Mapi leaves the restaurant, you brace yourself. What if she comes back with something insane—like an alpaca or a stripper? With Mapi, anything is possible.
Next to Mapi stands Jenni Hermoso.
The door swings open again, and you exhale in relief.
Alexia gasps, her hands flying to her mouth before rushing to hug her friend. Since Jenni moved to Mexico, they rarely see each other, and with everything that happened after the World Cup, their bond has only grown stronger.
You smile as you watch them catch up, knowing this was the best surprise for Alexia.
---
Around 2 AM, Alexia finds you, her eyes heavy with exhaustion. "I’m tired," she admits softly.
You nod, saying goodbye to everyone before taking her home. She heads straight to the bathroom to get ready for bed. When you later join her, she’s already lying down, fighting sleep.
She turns to you, her voice filled with love. "Thank you for today. It was perfect."
You brush a strand of hair behind her ear. "You don’t have to thank me. You deserve it."
She smirks. "Didn’t know you could be so sneaky."
You wink. "There’s a lot you don’t know about me."
Then she asks about her present, and you tease her before finally handing her a small box. Inside is a ring.
"It’s not an engagement ring," you clarify quickly, then smirk. "Not yet."
Her cheeks flush—a rare sight.
"It’s a promise," you say softly. "That I’ll always be here for you, love you, cherish you."
She smiles, slipping the ring onto her finger before leaning in. "You do realize this kinda sounds like an engagement?"
You blush, and she laughs, kissing you again—deeper this time.
The rest of the night? Perfect.
Just like her birthday.
For the Jack Hughes x teenage daughter reader request, would you be comfortable doing reader going through her first break up and him getting upset that she never told him she was dating to begin with? you can chose the ending if you would like!
reader is 16
I looked at my phone and saw a text from my boyfriend, now ex, saying Sorry, I just don’t think this is working out. That was it. No explanation. No closure. I sat there on my bed curled up in a hoodie that was way too big for me, my cheeks damp from crying. My phone in my hand his last text still unread. I knew I should delete it, block him, do something to make it easier, but I couldn’t.
I had been dating Ryan for six months. Six months of secret dates, late-night FaceTime calls, and butterflies every time he smiled at me. And now it was over. Just like that.
I wiped my nose on my sleeve, exhaling shakily. I had been holding in the sobs for too long, trying to be quiet, but apparently, I wasn’t quiet enough.
A knock at my door.
“Y/N?” My dad’s voice was hesitant. “You okay?”
I sucked in a breath, forcing myself to sound normal. “Yeah, just tired.”
There was a pause, then the door creaked open anyway. My dad wasn’t the type to just walk away when he thought something was wrong. I turned my head away, but he wasn’t fooled. His eyes immediately softened when he saw my face.
“Hey…” He sat on the edge of my bed, his brows knitting together. “What happened?”
I shook my head, biting my lip. “It’s stupid.”
Jack Hughes, NHL superstar, my dad, was not easily convinced. He reached over, brushing a tear off my cheek with his thumb. “If it’s got you crying, it’s not stupid.”
I hesitated. The last thing I wanted was to get into this. But when I saw how genuinely worried he was, something inside me cracked. “Ryan broke up with me,” I whispered.
I felt him stiffen. “Ryan?”
Crap.
I winced, peeking up at him. His expression had completely changed—his jaw clenched, eyebrows furrowed, and his usual soft blue eyes hardened with something else.
“Who the hell is Ryan?”
I shrank under his stare. “Dad—”
He stood up, running a hand through his hair. “You were dating someone? Since when?”
My stomach twisted. I had dreaded this conversation. I knew he wouldn’t like it, which was exactly why I never told him. “A few months,” I admitted, my voice small.
He let out a humorless laugh. “A few months? Y/N, are you kidding me? You were dating some guy for months, and I didn’t even know?”
“I didn’t want you to freak out,” I mumbled.
“Well, guess what? I’m freaking out now.”
I flinched at the sharpness in his tone. He sighed immediately after, pressing his fingers to his temples. “Y/N…why didn’t you tell me?”
I sniffled, looking down at my lap. “Because I knew you’d be like this.”
“Like what?”
“Overprotective. Annoying. Acting like I’m still a little kid.”
Dad’s expression softened, but the frustration was still there. He crouched down in front of me, his voice gentler now. “Y/N, I’m your dad. It’s my job to be overprotective. I just—I thought we told each other stuff.”
That stung. Because we did. My dad and I had always been close, ever since I was little. But this was different.
“I didn’t want you to scare him off,” I admitted, wiping my nose. “Or treat me differently.”
He sighed, rubbing his face. “Okay. Okay.” He sat back on the bed, staring at the ceiling like he was processing this information. Then he glanced at me again. “So…Ryan. What happened?”
I swallowed past the lump in my throat. “He said, "Sorry, I just don’t think this is working out."
Dad frowned. “Then he’s an idiot.”
I let out a small, watery laugh. “That’s not helpful.”
“I mean it.” He shook his head. “Anyone who makes my daughter cry like this doesn’t deserve her.”
I felt the tears building again, but this time for a different reason. “I just…I really liked him, Dad.”
“I know, kid.” He wrapped an arm around me, pulling me into his side. “I hate that you’re hurting.”
I let myself lean into him, my head resting against his chest like I used to when I was younger. “It just sucks."
He kissed the top of my head. “Yeah, it does.” A beat passed.
“And next time some idiot tries to date you, I’m gonna need a full background check, a resume, and three references.”
I laughed, the first real one all day. “Not happening.”
Jack grinned, squeezing my shoulder. “It was worth a shot.”
The Law of Obsession (Ch. 2) | Roman Reigns
Pairings: Roman Reigns x black! OC
Warnings: none
Summary: Laila meets a new friend at the cafe who has ties to Roman.
Word Count: 2.3k
A/N: MM MM MMM. I can only imagine what Roman sounds like over the phone when it's just you and him talking. Like warm butter.
Laila was jolted out of her sleep by the blaring sound of her alarm, blindly feeling around in her bed to turn off the incessant noise that made its way into her dream.
Her dream.
Her eyes shot open, trying to think back and remember all of it, but failing, only remembering bits and pieces.
She was sitting curled up on his lap, all of her weight resting on his firm thigh. His warm hands rubbing up and down her smooth legs that she just shaved and exfoliated.
Laila was the only one paying attention to the action movie they were watching. Engrossed by the film’s plot, she blindly shoved popcorn in her mouth from the large bowl Roman made for them.
Although it seemed like Roman was also watching the movie, his mind was occupied with her beauty and aura.
He couldn’t help but stare at the side of her pretty face, seeing that dimple appear every time she moved her mouth.
She could feel his stare on her and turned to look at him. “Roman! You’re not watching the movie…” She whined, grabbing his hand and playing with his fingers.
“I am babygirl. I promise.” He says, stroking his beard with his other hand.
He genuinely smiles for the first time in a long time, knowing that he was her protector.
Knowing that she was his.
All Laila could remember was that they were curled up in a mansion and watching The Fast & The Furious.
She zoned out in thought, a goofy smile creeping on her face.
“Ugh. Girl stand up, you just met him yesterday.” She tells herself as she sits up in her full size bed, adorned with pink and white sheets, pillowcases, a comforter, and fuzzy blanket.
She was so glad it was Saturday now, but she still wanted to get some homework and a little more studying done.
Going back to the café popped into her mind.
Grabbing her phone from under her pillow, she sees what time it is.
11:24 AM.
Having a little pep in her step today, she decides to actually take time to get ready and maybe pick out a sporty, but cute outfit.
The weather app said it was 73 degrees out so she could pull out the shorts today.
Opening the doors to her color coordinated closet, she goes to the black and white section. She reaches for the hanger that holds a black dri-fit tank top and pulls out black running shorts from her drawers. Then, she decides to do a white sports bra that had the criss-cross straps in the back for a pop of color.
After doing her daily morning routine that consisted of washing her face, doing skincare, and brushing her teeth, now she could start with makeup.
Before she could start though, she remembered her playlist wasn’t on yet.
Doing her makeup was pretty simple, as she liked to keep it pretty natural.
But the new song that began playing made her think of him.
She didn’t even have time to start fantasizing about what kind of boyfriend he would be, as her mom’s phone call pulled her out of her thoughts.
“Hey momma!”
“Hi my baby! How are you? I didn’t hear from you last night…” Her mother’s loving tone sounds through the speaker.
“Oh, yea sorry mom. I was really tired and forgot to call you.” She quickly makes up a lie, hoping it wouldn’t turn into a big thing.
“Okay…I just want to know that you’re safe. Your father is at work but he says he loves you, and we miss you!” Laila could just hear the tender smile in her mother’s voice.
“I miss you and dad too!”
“So, have you made any friends up there? From your classes or anything?” Laila picked up her phone and carried it with her while she walked to the kitchen in her apartment.
Setting the phone down on the counter, she continues the conversation. “Um…no not really. But mom, I’m also the type of person where someone has to talk to me first.” She reaches up to the cabinet, grabbing a glass to put her iced coffee into.
“I know honey. Maybe you could find a club for something that you like? That’s always a good place to start. Or go to a football game!” Her mother throws suggestions out there.
Going to a football game honestly didn’t even cross her mind, until now.
“I would love to go to a game, but I can’t go by myself. That’s lame, momma.”
“Okay, okay. I’m sure you’ll find someone to go with you…” Her mother says, trying to keep her hopes up.
“Yea hopefully…”
“Alright, well honey I have to head to the grocery store to get some things for dinner tonight. Your father and I love you, so much.” She hears her mom blow a kiss through the phone.
“I love ya’ll too. Send me pics of what you make too!”
“Okay my baby. Good bye and be safe.”
“Bye momma.” She hangs up the phone and looks at her counter for a minute.
Before Laila knew it, she finished her glass of coffee and rinsed it out, setting it in the sink. She went to her bedroom to put her black Nike’s on and to grab her backpack and car keys.
Arriving at the café, there were definitely more people there than any other time. She spotted an empty table near the counter and walked to it, sitting down.
Her to-do list had a few things on it, so she told herself that she would finish everything so the rest of her day was free. The first thing was to take a syllabus quiz for her finance class.
Knocking that out in about 15 minutes, she decided to reward herself with a treat.
Since she already had coffee this morning, she was thinking of just eating one of the café’s signature muffins.
Luckily, the line was going down, so she closed her laptop and got in line behind another black girl.
“Hey, you go to UMiami?” The girl in front of her turns around and nicely asks her.
“Yea I do! You go there too?”
“Oh no,” she laughed. “Some of my friends go there, though. I’m Naomi, by the way.” Naomi reaches her hand out to shake Laila’s.
“Hi, I’m Laila!” They smile at each other, shaking hands.
“So Laila, help a girl out. What you get when you come here?”
Laila laughed, happy that she finally met someone that she could potentially be friends with.
Other than Roman.
“Lemme see. Their coffee is really good, but I already had some. But the muffins look good though, so I think I want that.” She points out the 3 different flavors of muffins the café offered.
“Blueberry sugar, chocolate chip,” Naomi gasps. “And strawberry?! I gotta get that one.” She claps her hands together, making Laila laugh.
“You’re so funny!”
“Girl, it be my husband I swear. He’s so silly and I think it rubs off on me.”
“You’re married? Wow, it must be nice…” She half joked as they moved up in the line.
“That’s what they tell you at first. Then they just get on your nerves…” She paused. “No, I love my pookie, though. His name is Jimmy.” Naomi informs her new friend.
As they told each other more things about themselves, they finally got to the counter and placed their orders. Naomi got her strawberry muffin and a lemonade, while Laila just got a blueberry sugar muffin.
She told Naomi that if she didn’t have anywhere to be, she could sit and eat with her at the table.
“Do you have homework and stuff?” Naomi asked as she took a bite of the muffin, moaning slightly at the taste.
“Yea, but thankfully it’s not a lot.”
“What’s your major?”
“Accounting! I graduate next spring.” Laila takes a bite of her muffin, now halfway eaten. She loved the taste of the sugar crystals that were on top.
“Oh you’re good with numbers.” Naomi said the thing that everyone always says when they find out Laila’s major.
“Oh my gosh, that’s what Roman said too.” Laila muttered the last part of that sentence.
“That’s what who said?” The muffin that was on its way to Naomi’s mouth stopped mid air, as she raised an eyebrow.
“This guy I met yesterday. It was actually here too.” Laila explained to Naomi, thinking back to her and Roman’s encounter yesterday.
“What’s his name again?” Naomi wanted to make sure she heard correctly. She could’ve swore Laila said Roman.
“Roman.”
Naomi’s eyes bulged damn near out of her sockets.
Laila furrowed her eyebrows in confusion at her reaction. “Wait, you know him?”
Naomi looked around in disbelief. “Girl, that’s my husband’s cousin! That’s crazy. You met Roman Roman? Like, he’s tall with a man bun and a beard?” Naomi moved her hands, modeling all three descriptions as they came out of her mouth.
“Yes! He’s really nice. I wasn’t expecting that to happen yesterday…” Laila looked away in thought and Naomi was glad because if only this girl knew.
“Jimmy ain’t gon’ believe this.” Naomi was already planning to tell him as soon as she got home. Jimmy always said Roman was gonna die single because he could never keep just one woman.
“Well, did he give you his number? I’m nosey.” Naomi was very well aware of what Roman did under the table for a living, but they all swore to keep it a secret.
“No. He actually gave me his law firm’s business card.” Laila pulls it out of her wallet, showing it to Naomi.
She takes it from her hands. “Yep, that’s him.” She turns the card over, seeing and recognizing Roman’s handwriting.
“Um Laila?” Naomi turns the card around, showing Laila the back. “Did you see this part?”
Laila takes the card back, looking closely at the number, clearly in handwriting and not typed.
“Is this his cell phone number?” Laila asks with wide eyes.
“Mmhmmm.” Naomi sips her lemonade, looking around the café. “Speaking of numbers, we should exchange.”
Laila can’t believe she didn’t see this until now. She must’ve been so engrossed with his presence that she didn’t notice him write it on the card before handing it to her.
Naomi handed her her phone to put in the contact info, then she texted the number so Laila could save it.
Throughout the rest of their conversation, Laila tried to pay attention, but her mind kept running back to Roman.
‘Should I call him first?’
‘Wait, no I don’t wanna seem desperate.’
‘But how is he gonna call me? He doesn’t have my number…’
“Laila you ain’t hear anything I just said.” Naomi catches her red handed.
Her mouth opens then closes in shame. “I’m sorry girly.”
Naomi gives a smug smile. “It’s okay, I know you over there thinking about your man,” Laila’s jaw drops, making Naomi giggle. “I gotta leave anyway. Jimmy talking about some he wants to get food even though he’s supposed to be on a diet.” She rolls her eyes.
“Oh, okay.” Laila chuckles slightly.
Naomi stands up, gathering her things before bending down to give Laila a goodbye hug.
“Text or call me sometime! Maybe we can do double dates in the future?” She winks at Laila and they both laugh.
Laila just shakes her head, seeing Naomi get in her car.
Forcing herself to finish her other 3 assignments in record time, she lets out a deep breath turning in the last one. She gathers all of her things, shoving them in her backpack and throwing away her trash.
Walking outside, she catches herself looking around for a tall man with man bun and beard. She wouldn’t be lying if she wasn’t a little bummed at not running into him again.
But at least she has a girl friend now.
Once in her car, she checks the time.
3:25 PM.
Driving to Cava, she gets her usual bowl before making her way back to her apartment.
A couple of hours later, she was laying in her bed under the comfort of her fuzzy blankets, watching TV. The soft glow of the television illuminated her room, but she wasn’t really paying much attention to it.
Her phone began to buzz on top of her nightstand.
Expecting it to be her mom, she instinctively reaches to pick it up, but was met with an unknown number.
Her brows knitted together in confusion, but the thought that it could be Roman crossed her mind and she hurriedly swiped to answer it.
He was the first one to speak. “Laila.”
Her stomach immediately did that flip thing at the sound of his voice—deep, smooth, but laced with an unreadable, underlying emotion.
Oh, that deep sultry voice made her stomach do that flip thing.
“Yeah? Roman?”
“Hi.” He says with slight hesitation, testing the waters out.
“Hi.” She echoed and smiled, feeling like a school girl that had a crush on a boy in her class.
“So you met Naomi today?”
“Oh, um—yea I did! She told me her husband and you are cousins.” She says, fiddling with the pink bonnet that was on her head.
Roman let out a breathy chuckle. “Yea, Jimmy and his brother Jey. We grew up together.” The fondness of talking about his family was evident in his voice. Everyone always thought that they were triplets wherever they went.
“Aw, ya’ll must be really close?”
“Oh yeah. They get on my nerves, but I love them though.” This makes Laila laugh, warming Roman’s heart at hearing that joyous sound.
“Yea, I can tell. Naomi talks about Jimmy like he worships the ground she walks on.” Laila thinks back to when Naomi was telling her about their wedding day.
There was a moment of silence between the two.
“Yeah. When you have something real with someone, you hold on to it.” His words revered through her ear as she idly played with the design on her blanket.
There was an unspoken meaning behind the words Roman was saying.
“…That’s a good way to put it.” Laila breathed out, her heart racing and thumping in her chest.
Roman could sense that she was nervous. Hell, he was too.
But only a little.
“Well. I know you probably have some things you need to do so…I won’t keep you long.” She could hear the ruffles of papers in the background.
“Are you still at work?”
“I am, but I’m about to drive home.” He smirks even though she can’t see it.
“Oh, okay. Well…I hope you make it home safe.” She says sweetly, really meaning her words.
“I will. Can I call you tomorrow?” He asks her.
Laila quickly nods her head, but she realizes he can’t see that. “Yes! That’s fine.”
Her excitement amused Roman. “Okay. Good night Laila.”
“Good night…” She echoed and the call disconnected.
She leaned back against her bed’s headboard and just stared at the ceiling, finally feeling like she was going to really like it here.
Routine V
Mini Series
Wanda Maximoff x fem wife!reader
Summary: Routines can get tiring quickly, especially when you’re the only one working towards keeping them.
A/n: We meet again friends. I am very happy to be updating this fic once more. Also happy to inform that I have found a direction in which to take it!!! I hope you enjoy reading it.
Word count: 1400 approx
Tumblr media
She was at a crossroads, there was nothing that she could do to stop you from leaving. She hadn’t stopped pacing the room since you left. That's when she saw it… Her saving grace. Maybe if she did this one thing she could at least open the door if not maybe just unlock it, something. At this point that was definitely better than nothing. Your passport and what looked like important papers were left sitting on the kitchen counter. You had left in a furious haze, something was meant to be left behind. You just didn’t think it would be your passport and work visa. That was the one thing that you thought you had in lock, the one thing that you couldn't forget… And you forgot it. Truthfully you knew that something was missing the moment that you stepped into the car with Kate, but you chalked it up to the stress that Wanda had caused.
There was a time that anything that remotely felt like a fight was a no go. You never wanted to fight with Wanda, nothing about arguing with her seemed pleasant. In the beginning it was obvious she was scared and all of it was new. You danced around obvious issues the two of you had. One issue was a rather big one being Vision. It was strange their connection. It was something you knew would have easily gone the other way had you not been in the picture. They understood each other; you felt like the odd man out in your own relationship with her. It wasn’t until you exploded one day that the issue was addressed. Thinking back Wanda should have seen this coming. It almost ended the relationship before it really even began. She was tempted to call you, she really was. But she’d just crossed a very big boundary. Instead she texted Kate.
Her text was read almost immediately the text bubble kept appearing but nothing was sent. Wanda instead sent another message. ‘I’ll meet you at the gate, lose Y/n for a minute and I’ll give you her passport.’ She only received a thumbs up and she was on her way. It was high time Wanda started taking action. She wasn’t going to fail you now.
You were lying. You had no idea where you got the confidence from but it was a complete lie. You loved her so much it hurt. She didn’t read your mind that time and it hurt that she believed you. Tears welled in your eyes, this day wasn’t supposed to go like this. You were supposed to leave peacefully, and now you had no idea what you were doing. She shook you. Wanda came into your life and turned it upside down and now she’s done it again. It was rough. Kate had been fidgety for the past twenty minutes. “Are you okay?” You managed to get the words out. She stilled wide eyed. “Uhm shouldn’t I be asking you that?” You hummed. “Probably… I’m just tired of the same thing over and over again.” You sighed. “There are so many things that I wanted to say. But she was right in front of me and the words disappeared.” Kate nodded, her eyes still fixed on the road.
“Do you think… that uhm you’ll get back together?” She asked the obvious question. It only made your shoulders deflate more. Not because she asked, “It’s not up to me.” but because of how pitiful the answer was. And it was entirely up to her. You hadn't even been able to bring yourself to draft the papers. The fear that she’d actually sign them still managed to keep you up at night. What if she did, what then? “My heart… it aches constantly. Like something was ripped from me.” Kate cleared her throat. “You’re leaving Y/n… You're going abroad for god knows how long.” You nodded. “How else can I show her what she’s doing to me? Years Kate I’ve put up with it for years.” Kate nodded. “I did not suffer in silence, I let her know at every turn how she was compromising us.” Your words were laced with anger and conviction. And so quickly the sadness gave way to raw anger.
Wanda felt she should have thought this entire situation out more. Here she was in her car on her way to the airport, filled with hundreds if not thousands of people. And the most daunting part being that you’re unaware. Her mind was already starting to hold her hostage. She made the treck mostly on autopilot. Then there was the whole getting through security, nothing her powers couldn’t handle. Only she somehow couldn’t. She had not felt this lack of control since ultron, she was tripping where she had learned repeatedly not to. It was overwhelming navigating through the masses of people trying to get to their flights, homes, families. Everyone's thoughts traversed constantly. Eventually and not without struggle she had found Kate, near a coffee shop.
“Finally! I thought you’d make this hard for me.” Kate’s words washed right through her. The only thing she could hear now was an angry ring, mocking her. She shook her head softly trying to dissipate the sound. Then she stilled, she could sense it. Her powers out of pure reflex sought you out. And another pang of sadness ran through her. She’d never been able to sense your anger. A slap in the face a testament as to how unwelcome she truly was. A tug at her arm brought her back. She was clutching your passport in her hand. The folder already in Kate’s possession. Kate sighed. “Are you okay?” She relented and finally asked the question. That seemed to snap her out of whatever trance she was in. She let go of the Passaport like it burned her. Kate noticed her distress and asked again. “My powers… are acting up, I'll be fine.” Kate nodded, not fully convinced.
Kate had decided she’d throw Wanda a life line. She did not think someone could make a change so drastically in a matter of hours. This Wanda that was standing in front of her was not the same one she witnessed yell indignantly at you. This Wanda looked defeated, vulnerable. “She’s still waiting for you…” Kate said. Taking the woman in, and for a moment she wasn’t sure Wanda had heard her. Then tears started rolling down her face. “I don’t think she is…” the words came out tersely and clipped. “She's angry, she has every right to be. That doesn’t change the fact that she’s waiting… so give her time.” Kate sighed, taking a step back. “Fight for her…” She turned on her heel and walked away. Wanda seconds later managed to do the same. Her resolve slowly cemented.
Kate made her way back just as you started looking for her. She looks slightly flushed. Two coffees in hand, a folder tucked in between her arm and torso. Your eyes widened at the sight. “I didn’t even realize I was missing that!” You exclaimed. Taking a cup out of her hand, and the folder at the same time. “Kate, you're a lifesaver.” She nodded, taking a long sip of her drink. Then silence followed, you could have sworn you felt something. It made your heart race. You remembered the familiar feeling. A slight fuzz just out of reach in your mind. You couldn’t help but look around. Could it be, or was it just her lingering in your mind. Then once again Kate brought you back into the present. “Here your boarding group is about to be called.” Kate pulled you up from your seat making toward the line now forming.
Right as your ticket was scanned. She pulled you to the side slightly. “Promise you’re coming back.” You managed a small smile. “I will, I don’t think your mother will keep me away forever.” You joked. Keeping an eye on the people boarding. Kate nodded trying to reassure herself. “You forgot your passport… she brought them here. That's why I was gone for a minute.” Your heart started racing. “I didn’t want to keep it from you.” Then before you could even respond an airline worker was ushering through into the boarding tunnel. The last thing Kate managed to say was for you to call her when you landed.
A/n: Please leave a like if you liked it!!! Late because I completely forgot to schedule. :(
The sky was clear when they landed in Los Angeles. Before leaving the airport, they stopped at a Starbucks in the arrivals area for coffee and a quick bite to make up for the cheap food on the plane. Afterward, they took a cab to Lia’s apartment.
For the time being, they had decided to stay at Noah’s place since he had his studio there and he was meant to start working asap. Lia was already used to living within those walls so it felt like the right thing for now.
Noah dropped her off at her apartment to unpack and start a load of laundry, agreeing to pick her up later. In the meantime, he would do the same at home.
When he walked through the door, Jolly greeted him from the kitchen, pausing what he was doing to give him a brotherly hug and a pat on the back.
Noah had barely set his luggage down when Emery appeared in the hallway, waving at him. She was wearing baggy sweatpants and one of Jolly’s hoodies, looking very much at home.
“Hi, Noah.”
“Hi, Em.” He gave her a quick hug.
“Good flight?” she asked, stepping back and noticing the slight dark circles under his eyes.
“As good as it gets. I think I’m really jet-lagged, though.”
“I’m making coffee,” Jolly announced, busying himself with the machine. “Want some?”
Noah had just had one about thirty minutes ago, but he replied, “Sure. Thanks.”
He removed his backpack and sneakers, sighing as his feet finally found relief.
“Where’s Lia?” Emery asked, glancing over her shoulder at Noah as she walked into the kitchen to help Jolly. She retrieved three mugs from one of the cabinets.
“Dropped her at her place,” he explained. They hadn’t been apart for more than fifteen minutes, and yet he was already missing the warmth and peace she brought him just by being around. “I’m picking her up later. She’ll be happy to see you.”
“Em’s been staying here,” Jolly said, stopping the coffee machine and picking up the kettle.
Noah raised his eyebrows and looked at Emery, who had now made herself comfortable on the couch, waiting for Jolly to bring the coffee. She gave Noah a gentle smile.
“Nice. How long are you planning to stay?”
“As long as Jolly doesn’t get tired of me,” she replied.
Jolly pointed at her while passing a coffee mug to Noah across the kitchen isle. “Which is never happening.”
Emery laughed, her cheeks turning pink. Their comfort with each other was so obvious that Noah felt suddenly stupidly jealous. He was tempted to check the time on his phone. He’d told Lia he’d pick her up whenever she texted him, which he hoped would be soon—just enough time for her to sort her things and take a shower. Had it only been fifteen minutes? Because it felt like she’d been away from his reach much longer.
Emery’s laughter blended with a sarcastic snort from the hallway. When Noah looked that way, he saw Jesse strolling in.
“I need to fall in love and get out of this house,” Jesse declared, running a hand through his hair. He nodded at Noah. “Welcome back, man.”
“Hey,” Noah said with a nod.
“Where’s Miss Gremlin?”
“At her place. She’ll be here later.”
“Great. Well, I’m heading to the gym, so I’ll catch up with you guys later. Oh, and if you are doing laundry, grab my stuff from the basket, yeah?”
Noah raised his eyebrows, following him with his gaze. Jesse bent down to grab his sneakers from the shoe rack. “I just got back, and you’re already assigning me chores?”
“Consider it a welcome-home gift,” Jesse grinned over his shoulder, tying his laces. “Hope you enjoyed your holiday.”
“I should’ve made it longer,” Noah replied, but there was no malice in his eyes. He picked up his luggage again as Jesse waved goodbye and left. Noah muttered “unbelievable” as he started towards his bedroom.
“I promise I’m not giving you guys any extra work,” Emery added from the living room, raising a hand. “I do my own laundry.”
“Beware of Jesse,” Jolly warned, dropping onto the couch beside her with the two mugs of coffee. “He’ll rope you in if you’re not careful.”
An hour and a half later—showered, dressed in clean clothes, with the washing machine running and his room semi-organized—Noah returned to the living room.
He inadvertently interrupted a tender moment in the kitchen, where Emery and Jolly were exchanging whispers between kisses and affectionate touches. Neither of them seemed fazed when Noah walked in; Emery simply gave Jolly a long kiss on the lips, rose on tiptoes, then turned and disappeared into his bedroom at the end of the hallway.
Noah raised his eyebrows at Jolly as he crossed to the fridge, intent on finding something to eat.
“Dude, I’m so in love,” Jolly blurted out, leaning on the kitchen counter, his eyes frozen on the dark hallway where his girlfriend had just vanished.
Noah snorted. “I can see that,” he said, pulling open the fridge and grabbing a yogurt.
“I’m going to marry her.”
Noah froze, the yogurt halfway out of the fridge.
He turned slowly. “What?”
Jolly turned to look at him and shrugged. “I’m ready to marry her.”
Noah blinked once. Twice. “But,” he furrowed his brow, closing the fridge and setting the yogurt on the counter. “Wait. Are you serious? You’ve been together for what, a few months? Half a year?”
Jolly crossed his arms, still leaning on the counter. “We’ve known each other for six years. It’s not about the time we’ve been officially dating.”
“Yeah, I get that, but—” Noah blinked again, momentarily lost. He grabbed a spoon from a drawer to buy himself a moment. “I mean… Okay. I do get it, but…” His head was spinning. “I just got back from the other side of the ocean. I expected dirty socks everywhere and an empty fridge—not a bombshell about you wanting to get married. You never said much about it. Doesn’t it feel sudden?”
“Not to me. Not anymore,” Jolly’s voice softened. “She’s the one, Noah.”
“Yeah, Lia’s the one for me, too, and yet—”
“And yet, what are you waiting for?”
“What?”
Jolly shook his head but steered the conversation back to himself. “These past few weeks have been perfect. We work so well together, man. She doesn’t mind my bad habits—I don’t mind hers. We can argue and talk things through. She makes me laugh like nobody else. And waking up and seeing her there beside me is something I can’t even explain. And the sex… Fuck, the sex is good, man.”
Noah looked at him closely, spoon hovering over the open yogurt. “So, you’re totally serious. You’re really thinking about this.”
Jolly spread the back of his hands on the marble, standing to his full height. “Why would I joke about it? I’m telling you because you’re my best friend, and I can’t keep it to myself anymore. I need your thoughts.”
Noah tilted his head slightly, taking a bite of his yogurt as he considered it. “Okay, so… have you talked to her about it? Like, does she even want to get married?”
“We’ve talked. She does. She even wants kids someday. I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”
Noah shook his head, smiling despite himself. Could he picture Jolly as a husband? A father? No, but only because they’d been so caught up in the band, in working full time, that none of them had stopped for a second to consider wanting something more. Marriage. A family. It made sense, and honestly, Noah was sure Jolly would be great at both.
“Okay,” Noah said, his smile widening. He was suddenly infected by the same thrill coursing through Jolly. “Then it’s a yes from me. Go for it. When are you planning to propose?”
Jolly’s smile turned sheepish. “I don’t know. Haven’t gotten that far yet. We need to find a place first, a nice condo or a house. But I was thinking we could go check out rings next week, to get an idea about prices and stuff, and while we’re at it, maybe you could take a look too.”
Noah raised a slow, suspicious eyebrow at him.
Where is he going with this?
“Why would I want to take a look at engagement rings?”
“For whenever you grow a pair and pop the question to Lia.”
Noah stared at him.
Jolly pointed a finger at him and gave him a sideways look. “Don’t even dare tell me you’re not going to marry her because man, you’ve been breathing her as if she was your oxygen since you were kids. It’s just because you two were stubborn as fuck to admit you loved each other that you’re not married by now.”
“I—” Noah was exhausted, jet-lagged, hungry, and still reeling from Jolly’s sudden news about wanting to get married. And now, thanks to him, he was imagining Lia in a white dress and a flower crown on her head.
What the fuck.
“We haven’t talked about this, Lia and I.”
“Maybe it’s time you do. This is the perfect excuse.”
Noah stared at him for a long moment, torn between exasperation and amusement. As thoughts filled his mind, he realized he didn’t even know if Lia wanted to get married. “I came back expecting dirty clothes everywhere and no food in the fridge,” he muttered, “not life advice and a push toward marriage.”
Jolly laughed. “Well, now you’ve got both. Welcome home, man.”
When evening came, Lia and Emery curled up in the corner of the couch after dinner, talking animatedly, each holding a cup of tea, while the boys finished cleaning up the kitchen.
Somehow, Lia had mustered the energy to prepare one of the dishes Hana had taught her in Japan, and despite his exhaustion, Noah had offered to do the washing up afterward. Before picking her up, Lia had walked to the nearest supermarket to grab the missing ingredients. The moment she arrived at the boys’ house, she started cooking as if she hadn’t just spent the past twenty-four hours crossing the Pacific Ocean and trying to sleep in a cramped, uncomfortable airplane seat. Where she got the energy from, Noah couldn’t tell.
After the kitchen was cleaned up, the five of them settled on the couch and put on a new Adrien Brody movie. Jesse made popcorn and ended up eating most of it himself, ignoring Jolly and Noah’s comments about all his efforts at the gym going to waste.
Half an hour into the movie, Noah had already yawned three times. He was stretched out in the corner of the couch, legs extended on the sectional, with Lia nestled against him, his arm draped over her shoulders. Every now and then, she’d ask Jesse to pass the bowl of popcorn.
“I’m dozing off,” Noah murmured to Lia, rubbing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. “Shall we go to bed?”
Lia pouted, her eyes wide open. No trace of sleep in her expression, unlike Noah’s.
“How are you not sleepy?” He asked, frowning as he sat up a bit on the sofa, removing his arm from her shoulders.
“Hmm…” Lia bit her lip and looked up at him, still nestled at his side with her legs curled under her body. “I may or may not have taken a nap at my place.”
Noah’s eyes widened despite the look of sweet innocence in her face.
“Without me?” he exclaimed.
“Dude, shut up,” Jolly told him off without looking away from the screen, where Adrien Brody’s character stood in the pouring rain, his face shadowed under his hat.
Lia parted her lips to say something in her defense, but she didn’t get the chance. Noah stood up, and towering over her, he scooped her up in his arms, lifting her bridal-style off the couch.
“Hey!” she protested. “Where are you taking me?”
“Bedroom. To sleep. Good night, guys.”
“Help?” Lia called over Noah’s shoulder, but despite her theatrics, she was smiling, nearly laughing, and she had to admit it felt nice to be carried to the bedroom.
“Sweet dreams, lovebirds!” Jesse said. Next to him, Jolly and Emery laughed, waved their hands and said goodnight.
Once in the bedroom, Noah kicked the door shut behind him. Then, without warning, he threw Lia onto the bed. She landed with a soft thud, her hair fanning out over the gray comforter.
“That was so romantic,” she deadpanned, stretching before rolling onto her stomach, propping herself up on her elbows. She watched Noah with a raised eyebrow as he pulled off his hoodie and tossed it onto the armchair where Lia liked to curl up and read.
“Yeah,” he muttered, still giving her that mock-offended look she knew was just an act. “Almost as romantic as my girlfriend taking a nap without me.”
He walked over to close the curtains, then switched on the lamp on his side of the bed.
“And dramatic,” she added.
He stopped and gave her a long look. Two seconds later, his open palm landed on her butt with a sharp slap.
Lia gasped, eyes going wide.
“Did you just spank me?”
“Should I do it again for clarification?”
He didn’t wait for an answer. He grinned, and another smack followed, firm but playful. Even through her cotton leggings, a tingling sensation spread through her. She pressed her legs together, unable to look away from him, her cheeks warming.
He studied her reaction, enjoying this as much as she seemed to. He arched a brow at the realization. “You likethat, don’t you?”
Lia tilted her head to one side, lifting her feet off the bed and lazily crossing her ankles. “Maybe.”
He narrowed his eyes, shaking his head as he reached for one of her wrists, pulling her up. “Come on. Let’s brush our teeth. Then we’re sleeping, because I’m actually dead.”
“Hum,” Lia pouted, but got off the bed and followed him barefoot to the ensuite bathroom.
The moment they got under the covers, sleep was the last thing on their minds.
For the next half hour, they talked—about the next day, about Lia’s return to therapy, about how she planned to attend a yoga class beforehand. She had work to catch up on, so she’d spend most of the day at home, while Noah would head to the studio with the guys.
As they lay tangled up, Lia’s bare foot lazily brushing against his calf, she mentioned she was thinking about taking on more illustration jobs while the band focused on creating new music. It seemed like a good way to stay busy. She could focus on designs for new Bad Omens merch later.
“That’s a good idea,” Noah murmured, voice thick with exhaustion but still engaged. “You could also think about exhibiting your work.”
“In a gallery?”
“Yeah. Your art is sick. I’ll never get tired of saying it. You should put it out there more. Not just through the band’s merch. I told you before.”
The idea of her illustrations being displayed for people to admire—or worse, to judge—didn’t really sit right with her.
“I like being behind the work,” she said. “Just making things and putting them out there without having to… explain them. I don’t want to do artist talk or anything.”
Noah turned his head on the pillow to look at her. “Then don’t. You wouldn’t have to. Just exhibit the work and let it speak for itself. People will see what they want to see.”
“Yeah, and what if they see something that isn’t there? I’d want them to see what I see.”
“Art isn’t always about making people see your vision,” Noah said, thoughtful. “It’s about them feeling something. Doesn’t matter what. They don’t have to understand it. And you don’t have to explain it.”
Lia exhaled softly, letting the thought settle in the quiet between them. Maybe.
She rested her head against his shoulder after a while, pensive. Silence stretched between them as she mulled it over. “I don’t know. Maybe someday. I just like things the way they are right now. Making art without the pressure. Just… creating for myself first, you know?”
She paused, waiting for his response.
When she didn’t get one, she lifted her head slightly and looked up.
Noah’s breathing had deepened, his lips slightly parted, the steady rhythm of light snores filling the room.
“Of course you’re asleep,” she muttered. She lifted her head a little, watching him in the dark— the slow rise and fall of his chest, the way his eyelashes fanned against his cheek, the soft exhale of his breath.
Leaning in, she brushed her lips against his in a whisper of a kiss. “I love you,” she murmured before tucking herself back against him, letting sleep finally take her too.
Title: All That Matters (Part 3)
Part 4
Tumblr media
Even with all of Marshall’s efforts—his reassurance, his presence, the way he went out of his way to make you feel like you were the most important thing in his world—some days were still harder than others.
Like today.
He was back in LA for a few days, and you were home in Detroit, going through the motions. The kids kept you busy, but there was always a moment—usually late at night—when the doubt crept back in.
You had been scrolling through your phone, not meaning to fall down the rabbit hole, but one tap led to another, and suddenly, you were staring at a picture from an afterparty.
Marshall wasn’t doing anything wrong.
But there was a woman beside him—one of those up-and-coming singers, all perfect curves and confidence, leaning in just enough to make your stomach twist.
The comments didn’t help.
She’s bad as hell. Imagine them together.
She’d be an upgrade tbh.
They got chemistry.
Your fingers gripped the phone tighter, your breathing shallow.
You knew better than to believe online bullshit. You knew Marshall loved you.
But after everything… it still got to you.
So when your phone rang, and you saw his name pop up, you didn’t answer.
Then he called again.
And again.
You sighed, finally picking up. “Hey.”
“The fuck?”
You blinked. “What?”
“You tell me,” he shot back. “I been callin’ you for an hour.”
You exhaled, pinching the bridge of your nose. “I’m just tired, Marshall.”
Silence. Then—
“Nah,” he said lowly. “What’s wrong?”
You hesitated, debating whether to lie. But before you could, he sighed.
“Baby, don’t do that. Just tell me.”
Your throat tightened. “I saw the pictures.”
He was quiet for a second. Then—“What pictures?”
You swallowed. “You and that girl at the afterparty.”
Marshall groaned. “Are you fuckin’ kidding me? That chick talked to me for five minutes about music and people start makin’ shit up. You know how this works.”
“I know,” you whispered. “But it still sucks.”
He sighed heavily. “I shoulda taken you with me.”
You frowned. “Marshall, I couldn’t go.”
“I know,” he muttered. “And that’s the problem.”
You pulled the blanket tighter around yourself. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, I hate bein’ away from you. I hate that you’re sittin’ at home, doubtin’ yourself, when all I wanna do is be there with you.”
Your heart clenched.
“I don’t give a fuck about any of those women,” he said firmly. “I don’t look at them. You’re the only one I see. And if me bein’ in LA or doin’ this music shit is makin’ you feel otherwise, then maybe I gotta change some shit.”
You swallowed hard. “You’re not serious.”
“I am.”
You frowned. “Marshall, your career is huge. You can’t just—”
“I don’t want it if it’s fuckin’ up my marriage.”
Your breath hitched. “Marshall…”
“I’d give it up tomorrow if it meant you’d never question how much I love you.”
Tears welled in your eyes. “I don’t want that.”
He exhaled sharply. “Then tell me what you do want. Tell me how to fix this.”
You wiped at your eyes. “I just… I wanna feel like I’m part of your life, not just waiting on the sidelines.”
Marshall was quiet for a moment. Then—
“Then you will be.”
You sniffled. “What does that mean?”
“It means I ain’t leavin’ you home anymore. If I gotta travel, you and the kids come with me. If there’s an event, you’re by my side. Ain’t no more of this ‘waiting at home’ bullshit.”
Your eyes widened. “That’s not realistic—”
“The fuck it ain’t?” he challenged. “Other people do it. And you ain’t just ‘other people,’ baby. You’re my wife.”
Your lips parted, but no words came out.
Then, softer, he murmured, “I need you with me.”
Tears spilled down your cheeks. “Okay.”
“Okay?”
You inhaled shakily. “Yeah. Okay.”
He sighed in relief. “Good. Now, unlock the door.”
You frowned. “What?”
“The front door. Unlock it.”
Confused, you got up, padding toward the front of the house. You unlocked the door and pulled it open—
And there he was.
Standing on the porch, looking exhausted but so damn there.
Your heart stopped. “You’re supposed to be in LA.”
He smirked. “Yeah, well. My wife needed me.”
Tears slipped down your face as he pulled you into his arms, his grip so tight it left no room for doubt.
You buried your face in his chest, breathing him in, letting his presence melt away every insecurity, every fear.
Marshall pressed a kiss to your hair.
“I got you,” he murmured. “Always.”
And for the first time in a long time, you truly believed him.
