Were there dragons missing their friend in his nests and hoping they’d keep his young rider safe?

Was there ever a time, Morzan was as missed as a hurting child should have been?

Curtwen Week Day 7: First Meeting/Last Words

While listening to Epic, I noticed an interesting pattern with how antagonists are portrayed, and how Odysseus’ interactions with them are coded.

In Epic, the monsters Odysseus faces are rarely fighting for their own sake. Polyphemus attacks Odysseus’ crew to avenge his sheep, and Poseidon destroys his ships as revenge for his son’s suffering. Similarly, Circe only threatens Odysseus to protect her nymphs. Odysseus does not kill any of these enemies, and while he is occasionally criticized for letting them go free, the overall implication is that he did the right thing by sparing them.

Then we hit the Thunder Saga, and Odysseus begins his arc as a ‘monster’ by killing the sirens. His actions here are brutal, and whether or not they are justified is, I think, up to the listener. However, it’s significant that the sirens are the first foes Odysseus faces on his journey who aren’t either defending or avenging what they love. They attack unprovoked, and while Odysseus’ method of execution is gory, he is never punished for it by other characters within the narrative. Apollo is the only one to protest, and even he is swayed easily when Athena says (among other things) that the sirens were “trying to do him worse.” The sirens attacked first, and while Odysseus’ response was ‘monstrous,’ his crew obeyed his commands and he was not challenged or ostracized for giving said commands. He is only treated as a monster when he yields to Scylla, who also attacked without provocation.

Thus, in Epic, the monsters fighting to protect or avenge their loved ones are protected by the very story - killing them may be more convenient, but it isn’t the answer. However, the monsters who attack without provocation, for their own amusement or satisfaction, do not receive such respect. Killing them is acceptable, and cooperating with them is monstrous.

By this logic, Odysseus is justified in his actions, however atrocious. He attacks to protect his family, and therefore deserves mercy.

The suitors, on the other hand…

oh my god okay. The fact that Wayne narrates the lore of the Creel House and Eddie narrates the Vecna campaign is so important to me. It means that Eddie grew up listening to his uncle tell stories. It means that those stories left such an impact on him, that he started telling stories of his own.

It means Eddie inherited the storytelling trait from Wayne.

Initial drawings of that old man… I literally, I haven’t finished reading the book of bill yet!!! Since I only very recently made that base post about the AU, I haven’t had time to sit down and think about it more other than this doodle page bc I’ve been busy

However, I did have a thought while drawing this of like…when Reigen first starts developing the powers, he turns to the side all excitedly to try and show Mob buuuut there’s 2 issues with that. 1) Mob isn’t there and 2) even if he WAS there, Mob’s under the impression that Reigen’s had these powers the whole time, and so it wouldn’t make sense for Reigen to be all excited about his powers he supposedly has had forever

and so Reigen feels disappointed and lonely in that moment, but just like in canon, it quickly turns into a feeling of “psh, yeah who needs HIM anyways?” 😁 hi I’m normal 😁😁

Started looking at a few of ur artworks and Im absolutely blown away with how unique it looks!

Starting as a beginner artist, was it hard to find ur niche and audience? Or was this something u never really thought about/ realised?

Funnily enough I had the opposite in terms of trying to find an audience when starting out. A lot of my earlier art was just a bunch of random furry ocs/nonsensical doodles/etc just trying to hop on whatever art bandwagon was going on to try and fit in and prove myself as an artist. It was only when I realized I wanted to create impactful art for myself, along with wanting my art to be something that can stand alone and not have to be influenced by context for the viewer to connect with it, that really let me start creating the work I make now. After shifting to more personal work I found people were a lot more receptive to my work, and I just managed to build my little niche over time. Peoples reactions to my current art definitely influences what I make now, but even then I always just created works for myself, and I’m very grateful people like it :)

I do consider the work below as one of my “cornerstone” drawings in terms of my development as an artist, it was my first work were I actually tried working a full scene, along with using it as a vent piece. Really set the tone and standard for all my other works

you know what really pisses me off? so many people acting like he is the worst person out there and no one will miss him. A LOT of people are grieving now and missing him including people that these people supposedly follow and care about. liam was not the supervillain people wanted him to be. he was messed up and did messed up things likely because of what happened to him. this conversation deserves so much more nuance than people are giving it. and maybe it’s too early to have this conversation now but it’s helping me process and grieve so i’m really writing this for me. people are complex and doing bad things doesn’t make you a bad person or someone worthy of death without being given the chance to make things right. and another thing, it is SO hypocritical to make fun of him and look down on him like he’s the ultimate Bad Guy meanwhile i bet every single person you have ever admired in the spotlight has likely also done bad things or at least things you wouldn’t be proud of. fame is an illness and it can cause people to harm others because they were hurt themselves. human beings are a culmination of everything that they’ve been through and everything they’ve done. he is not only the bad things he’s done and it’s okay and normal to grieve him as a whole person, because he was one.

it is literally so flippin cold out this morning (like cold enough for me to see lil clouds of my breath!!!) and literally all i can think of is reca dressing you up all warm n cozy in a faux fur coat + a knitted beanie and matching knitted mittens, pulling the brim of the hat down to make sure it’s covering your ears and then fastidiously tucking each mitten into the sleeves of your coat and going ‘there :) now Daddy’s little starlet is all snug and safe from the cold :)’

and even though it’s true and you are, you can’t help but pout, holding out your wool-clad hands and going ‘but Daddy, my fingers are still cold’ just so he’ll sandwich your hands between his always-toasty palms with a little knowing smirk and lidded eyes, kneading them slow and purposeful with a ‘of course they are, baby’

Calling all body positive ppl

Does anybody have recs for fat & body positive creators I can follow. Especially about movement and intuitive eating.

But also just seeing other fat people doing hobbies and being visible on the internet would be nice. I like gaming, books, the usual nerd package.

I’m having so much trouble searching for these sorts of creators without getting suggested fatphobic or pro-ED content instead which is very upsetting :(

You know I do find it fascinating that skystar is such a popular ship, like I think it’s Starscream’s second most popular ship outside of megastar, despite the fact that it was only in g1. I’m pretty sure outside of that they haven’t had a connection to each other (outside of Shattered Glass, and by saying that, I’m wondering if there’s more precedent in the comics too. But at least TV show wise, I think it was only g1)

Granted, some of it probably comes from the fact that while Starscream is in basically every continuity, Skyfire/Jetfire is in very few, due to copyright/licensing issues, which is also why he’s got an inconsistent name on top of that. So like, most of the time you can just invent Skyfire and insert him into continuities with a similar backstory to g1 and it doesn’t cause too much damage

But yeah, even that; this ship’s got a real grip on the community despite its one appearance, and it wasn’t even Prime or IDW. Though it was g1, so that probably accounts for something

Edit: I switched up Animated in my examples to IDW, because while I know Animated is very fondly remembered, I don’t think it had the impact on the fanon or canon that Prime did. IDW I think was more influential, at least on the shipping scene. I do mention this in the tags so just know I edited IDW in later
