My thoughts on the AI art debate

I think what upsets me the most about the “AI art vs artist” thing is that AI users don’t understand why we’re upset, or at least don’t understand what the main issue is.

You can argue back and fourth over ai lacking soul or heart and argue about technological advancements all you want, but you can’t deny this: someone’s intellectual property is being stolen and sold without their knowledge and, most certainly, without their consent.

In a culture that hates plagiarism to the point that people get death threats over tracing drawings, I find it hard to understand why straight up theft is being forgiven and implored.

(Of course this isn’t always the argument artists make, people have many different upsets and concerns over it because people are different and feel different things, but their feelings are still valid.)

And for the argument of “if you didn’t want it being stolen you shouldn’t have posted it” falls flat, because that logic proves moot when applied to a thousand other things “if you didn’t want your kid to trip on the sidewalk you shouldn’t have brought them outside” “if you didn’t want your boss to take credit for your idea you shouldn’t have said anything” or, maybe a more direct comparison, “Van Gogh shouldn’t have painted the Mona Lisa if he didn't want people to try to vandalize it”

Don’t blame people for the actions of others just because they wanted to share something they made. And let people be upset that something they’ve dedicated their lives to is being ripped from their hands. Someone being sad over the current state of their career is not valid reason to harass and belittle them

God Tier Top Gun Fanfictions. A Masterlist. (1/3)

As of 15th May 2024, these are some of the BEST stories I have read in the fandom. Of course, this is completely subjective and there are many personal factors as to why I crowned them God Tier. 

Mainly:

Reading it for the first time: ‘Oh, this is really good, I’m going to be thinking about this for the rest of my life’

When compiling the list: ‘Oh my god, this fic, man, this fic!!’

There are many other fics that match the first criteria, but for it to be on this list, I needed to have these two reactions.

Authors that I trust with my life, whose work are ALL incredibly well written.

They’re the first person to pop in my head when I was thinking about making this list. No amount of time and words will be enough for me to describe how good their work is. Seriously. It’s on a level I’ve never seen before for fanfiction. The world building, the characterization, the prose, everything. COMPACFLT has a way of understanding these characters, it makes so much sense and fits so well with canon. I’m just at a loss for words. Genuinely the reason I converted to Icemav supremacy.

When We Get Around to Talking About It 

Goose has been dead for a week and a half when Iceman loses his first wingman in a dogfight with six Soviet MiGs over the Sea of Okhotsk. Goose has been dead for thirty years when Iceman loses his second wingman to a surface-to-air missile on the tail-end of a mission he's responsible for: he's sent his family on a suicide mission to destroy a uranium enrichment facility in Russia's Far East. This is the story of those thirty years in the middle. (Or: Tom Kazansky rises through the ranks while trying to stay a good man. If he ever was one to begin with.)

This was the first story I’ve read from them. And it’s so… I don’t have words.  It’s told from Ice’s perspective, filling the gaps between TG and TG:M with added Icemav and Hangster. In my mind this is canon:D

Debriefing (& Other Stories)

"We can start here, I guess. If we're talking about us," Pete says. "Nineteen-eighty-six. The first thing I thought, when I saw you in that O-club, was: Iceman is off-limits. Capital O, capital L." Despite himself, despite the fear, Tom laughs a little. "Oh, yeah? Why's that?" "Well, first off, we were competition. And yeah, you were attractive, but then you opened your mouth and I swear. You were just an asshole. Goose is trying to introduce you to me and here I am thinking about how much of an asshole you are. Shut up about Cougar, asshole." "It was supposed to be a friendly competition!" "Yeah, right. So that's what I was thinking: he's attractive, clearly doesn't know how to talk to other men, might be into the proposition if I framed it the right way. But he's an asshole, so this competition is just gonna be friendly." Pete pauses. Then he says, "Ice, you wanna get married?" And that's how they start talking about it. (Or: they finally get around to talking about it. Plus a couple extra stories for good luck.)

Sigh and send COMPACFLT a loving look. This Maverick's POV adds so much to the story without being repetitive. COMPACFLT deliberately tells their story like puzzle pieces, and they complete each other—just like Icemav, if you will. 

The Slider oneshot is truly something else. I was so eager for the upload and kept an eye on their account for updates religiously. To flesh out a character that barely has any source material is an incredible skill to have. And the Bradley oneshot… Omg… My favorite characterization of Bradley, period. 

Tremors & Aftershocks

They both come back to their senses and stop openly crying again eventually. The stitches fall out of the thirty-year-old wounds and the scars fade back to skin-color. Life stops being so painfully raw after a couple weeks back home. You get used to miracles the way you get used to anything else. One day at a time. [Or: 40 years of extras, from 1982-2022. Some true love, some heartbreak, some miracles.]

To me, this one has a different feeling from the other two. More focused on Ice and Mav’s relationship as opposed to the whole plotline. It’s tender and bittersweet and feels like being hugged for the first time and then told that you wouldn’t get another hug in thirty years time.  

What impresses me most is that, if you go to COMPACFLT’s Tumblr account, you’ll see the thought they’ve put for these stories are INSANE. They’re so educated on the military and its history and it adds so much to these characters. I’m not American and all my writing for Top Gun will always stem from google searches and other fics. If you’re a nerd like me and like to read about other’s analysis about topics they know nothing about, I suggest you go to their account and have fun.

It’s a shortcut to heaven really. (And yes, I’m still upset that they seem to have left the fandom, but I still hold the stories they’ve left behind close to my heart:)) My favorites:

Ice sounds like he’s trying not to laugh. “I told you he bites.” In which there are multiple realisations, improbable numbers of pilots hanging out in a shared shower, volleyball games and verbal tennis. Yes, it's compulsory to wear your dogtags in the shower - never know when you could need identification. (Only kidding, it's for added fuckability.)

It’s so hot... but believable at the same time. BDSM is just one of those things where you read about it and can tell if the author has experience or is just extremely well-informed. 

Eye to Eye 

“Maybe it’s not just us looking to get a piece of you,” Wolf says. He’s right by Maverick’s head, and a shiver rolls down his shoulders in a sweeping tide at the soft click of each word against his ear. “Maybe we offered. You’re so pretty, Mav. It’s not a hard sell.” His hands twitch with the effort of not reaching up to tear off the blindfold and find out if they’re telling the truth or just winding him up. It’s possible. Occupied, blindfolded, he might not have noticed the door opening. More guys could have been in the showers. Two hands circle his ankles, firm over his boots, and hold him steady. Someone else has his left hand, kneading the tendons down the back of it. Anyone and anything is plausible. A continuation. Finally.

HOT DAMN. That’s all.

AortaArgent portrayed Ice and Mav’s relationship as absolute and secure while having fun with Mav’s dynamic with the other guys. All of their works are mind-boggling and simply amazing!

Need I say more? Carly’s one of the most prominent members of the Top Gun fandom. Actually, I trust any member of the Top Gun Old Guard. With Carly, there’s something about their writing that makes me think of discovering an old box of CDs you used to watch relentlessly, dusty and worn, but the nostalgia rushes back and it’s achingly familiar. You can tell they’ve been writing for Top Gun for so long the characters kind of became their own. And when you click on any fic they wrote, you can fall and trust they’ll catch you. My favorites:

This one’s so cute!!! Ugh, I’m never going to get tired of reading Icemav fall in love over and over again.

Maverick's trip in Darkstar takes him further than he ever imagined possible.

Sigh for the second time and send hearts Carly’s way. Basically, Mav gets transported to another universe and weird things happen. I love fics that dabble with the universe, the what-ifs, the what could’ve been. God. aelibia’s just too good. It’s like banger after banger after banger. If you’re looking for an author whose work is a guaranteed good read, click the link and it’ll show you magic. They have Icemav ranging from tender and soft to angsty, portraying all different sorts of love and a way of writing explicit sex that I’ve never found anywhere else. 

I can’t even pick which one’s my favorite because they’re all my favorite. Especially the series they wrote, oh my god. I love them all. However, one that I reread religiously and being giddy over is this:

Wine Dark Sea

Raised by a selkie mother bound to a human man, Ice returns to the human world as a teenager with a singular purpose: to find the source of human strength, and claim it for himself. But after a careless mistake binds him to another human man, Ice is forced to reconsider his most fundamental beliefs: What is the meaning of strength? And what is the cost of freedom?

It’s so silly at times and heartbreaking most of the time. I especially love the later chapters where the evil is defeated and Ice is just being a silly seal while Mav’s being the supportive partner that he is. This fic is the SOLE REASON that my favorite animal is a seal. Thank you for opening my eyes to something that has been so obvious from the start, your majesty aelibia.

I also humbly present these seal drawings because the image of Ice galumphing around a Navy base, complete with wet smacks and people shrieking in horror makes me laugh everyday. That, and the scene where Mav is surrounded by four fat harbor seal pups and reading a story to them. Eleven out of ten.

Favourite picrew: This one is pretty fucking spot on. Or at least it was at the time. Hair is very different now. But then, hair is always different… lol

What's one thing you want in a picrew? Ability to add coloured streaks! And a wide selection of scars, or alternatively the ability to move them around the screen. Either is fine. But mostly the hair thing. My hair is generally 4 different colours. Don’t try and limit me to one!!

Favourite thing you’ve created (or seen created) for the fandom? Erm… 3 way tie between Mexico Gallacrafts, Fimo Gallavich, and Cookie Gallavich? Maybe? Argh. Turns out, looking back at my art tag… I’ve created some pretty cool stuff. Huh. Yay me.

Why is it your favourite? I don’t really do photography, and I’m really proud of the idea behind and the execution of that photo. And while I LOVE drawing more than anything, I don’t think I’m exceptional or anything. But I’m damn creative when it comes to silly 3D craft projects, so both Fimo Gallavich and Cookie Gallavich make me happy and feel like something not just anyone could do… I dunno.

Did it come easily or was it hard to create? It was LONG to create. Both cookie and Fimo Gallavich took several days in total. And I think that’s the other thing I like about myself. I am willing to put in the work, and it usually pays off.

Last ao3 fic you commented on? Hah! You’ll be able to corroborate this, I’m not just sucking up!! LOL I’m currently reading Camp is a Battlefield by @blue-disco-lights, @jrooc, and @mybrainismelted, with artwork by @creepkinginc, so that’s the last one I commented on :)

Biggest WIP heartache you’ve ever experienced? I mean… every single WIP I have ever started reading, only to realise that maybe there won’t be any more of it… 😱 Every. Single. One. They’re all special, and they all hurt in their own special ways. And I will remain subscribed to all of them FOREVER, because you never know!!

Also? Comment on WIPs. Tell authors how much joy the story brought you, how much space it’s occupying in your brain, how much you would love to see it continue but how happy you are to have read as much of the story as there is because it’s changed your brain chemistry… do NOT comment saying ‘next chapter when?’, cause that makes you a dick bag.

Favourite trope or head cannon you like included in a fanfic? I’m a sucker for fake dating, only one bed, and a soulmate AU 🤷🏽‍♂️

Least favourite? …not a huge fan of kid fic, but hey, all it takes is a great author to make it work.

Secret or surprising kink or trope? Again, do not kink shame, because you’re only ever one good fanfic away from discovering something about yourself you did NOT see coming…

Describe how you feel after you’ve created something new? Exhausted and antsy. Is it good enough? Are people gonna like it? Should I even bother anyone with this? Why don’t I just go and hide under a rock forever?? I felt okay about this when I finished it, why is it suddenly the worst thing to have ever been created??? …I wish there was a sense of calm and accomplishment. There is not. Brains suck!

Top hype man you have that always helps you get across the finish line: @deedala - I so appreciate how we’re on a similar wave length when it comes to art as well as ‘everybody wants to hunt me for sport’ vibes. I know I can always count on you for kind but honest words, and that’s so important!!

I couldn’t reblog this normally since I have the og poster blocked, but this is a pretty common sentiment in the community that I want to put my comment on:

Now I’m not gonna sit here and argue that there aren’t people who like Feyre more in the first book and consider her to be “better”, because people do, and I think it’s valid to think that as well as valid to not think that. To clarify I think neither, but more on that later. This is also a decently long post, I tried to make it concise but it’s anything but that 💀

I think comparing her character in the first book to her sisters (this post is specifically Nesta, but I’ve seen it done with Elain) is purely made in bad faith. Equating them in this manner blatantly ignores the obvious differences in characterization and nuance in their writing.

It is widely known that SJM has said that Elain and Nesta were just made to be caricatures and cartoon evil sisters and that she didn't initially plan for them to become anything more than background characters. They were meant to be flat and evil, because that’s all the purpose they had at the time. They were there to give Feyre a hard time and make us sympathize with her, and they did that.

No one is saying that that it’s silly to get hung up on Nesta’s actions because they “happened a long time ago and she had development”, they’re saying that because her actions were literally meant to be cartoonishly evil and not to have any actual depth or reasoning to them.

However, Feyre at the time was still a fleshed character that was supposed to be in the spotlight. Her character traits and depth were continuously shown off, whereas her sisters only existed to give her a backstory and struggle. Her character in the first book cannot be written off to the same degree as her sisters, and it’s false equivalency to think that it can be.

At the time the way Nesta and Elain was written was fine, but in deciding to change them to be actual characters with thoughts, feelings, and backstory, Sarah majorly fucked herself over. This is why she had to retcon things and add their own struggles later on and why you’ll see a lot of people defending them for their cabin actions; and as a side of the fandom who take her retcons as canon, you can’t pick and choose which ones you don’t want to take as canon solely because they change the your notion of the character. It’s a packaged deal, either you’re down with SJM’s narrative and story, or you’re not (I’m not), because guess what? The other characters around said character will also comply by these retcons.

But when you hammer it down so hard that these girls are horrible people in the first book because you couldn’t give the time of day to make sure you’re actually creating a cohesive storyline, rather than just trying to push out a character for people to immediately sympathize with, it’s hard to rectify that, and I often find it the mark of a bad writer (and poor planner) regardless if you weren’t planning on ACOTAR being a series.

I 100% understand Nesta hate, it’s hard to change your idea of a character when you’ve already been made to dislike them and like the character they initially antagonized. If she, or any other character, is not your cup of tea, that’s fine. Like what you like. Hate what you hate (assuming you stay in your lanes and tag correctly, which many of you do not do, and instead tag specifically to push your anti content into pro spaces and make people mad, but that’s a different topic) u, this circles back to my original point that you cannot equate the validity of the characters and writing of Nesta and Elain to Feyre in the first book.

Now do I agree that Feyre was her '"true self" in book 1 vs the others? No.

I think a lot of people, and a lot of antis, earlier Feyre lovers, and probably some of my mutuals, will disagree with me on this, but Feyre's character progression has always made sense to me. That's not necessarily to say that I like it, but considering her circumstances, the people around her, the environment, and her own personality and beliefs, her change and progression from ACOTAR to ACOSF makes total sense to me. I do think there's some inconsistencies, and I definitely think there’s a lot of situations where ACOTAR Feyre would react differently than later Feyre, but that’s just a product of her being a character with an arc and overall I can understand how she got from point A to point B.

I won't get into the details here, but if anyone's curious on why I think so, Imk, l'd love to talk about it

Im curious about what is cannon and fannon in the AC fandom. Ive read many different origins for the scar Desmond has, but most people go with Bill being the one to give it to him. Is this because its cannon from a little known source(similiar to the fact that Altaïr can swim, as seen in the 3ds games, but most people make him unable to swim despite the fact) or is it widely accepted fannon? What about Masyaf castle? Ive read some fics about it being an Abstergo facility with the Templars having opened the Library, while others write it is just been left to time. And ofc cant forget Eagle Vision. Is it a unique ability to Altaïr only? Did his father have it too? Did every novice have to master it before becoming an assassin?

There could be others, but these are the facts that im mostly curious about. Thank you for answering. ^^

So I’m gonna break this into sections so I don’t have to think about scene transition or whatever rambling equivalent that has.

Altaïr Can Swim

We all accept that he can’t swim because that’s funny. However, if we take into consideration how Altaïr can swim as seen in his ‘sequel’, this is pretty much the complete opposite of “Altaïr has never been hit” status that he has in the fandom. They both causes desyncing so if we believe in “Altaïr has never been hit” then it’s not that Altaïr can’t swim, it’s that “Altaïr never slipped or fell into the waters” which actually points more to Altaïr being a badass. But we decided that Altaïr not being able to swim is a much funnier idea and went to town with it XD

Bill Being The Reason Desmond Has His Scar

Okay, so ngl, I also liked to write that Bill is the reason Desmond has a scar, either directly or indirectly (I mostly go for indirectly with another kid being the reason why he has a scar but Bill was there ‘supervising’), mostly because I like the plot point that getting the scar is the thing that finally snaps Desmond and got him to leave the Farm ‘randomly’.

Anyway, the canon/fanon blur a lot in this one as there are enough people that believe Bill made the scar as seen by this post.

My thoughts on that is pretty much summarized in the tags I left in that one:

#wait it's official? #or did we as a fandom just collectively saw how bill treated desmond and went #ah yes he's why desmond has that scar #seriously i hc it and it makes sense narratively for bill to be the reason why desmond has a scar #whether from training or by accident #but i don't remember it being even implied in any games #especially in ac rev where it could have easily been added in

To add to that, I’m talking about AC Revelations specifically because of Desmond’s rant in an early scene where he finally shouts at Bill for being a bad father. That was the perfect time to just drop that bombshell of Bill being the reason why Desmond has his scar but we didn’t get that. That’s the main reason why I don’t think it’s canon that Bill is the reason why Desmond got his scar but there’s 3 more scenes in AC Revelations where he could have talked about it, all of them from Desmond’s memories scenes.

I also talked about how I couldn’t find any evidence of Bill being the reason that Desmond got his scar in this post.

But the summary is I tried looking for any information about it in the books, pamphlet, manuals and references I had (I say ‘had’ because I had to leave them back in my old home after I moved due to space constraints TTATT), only focusing on any mentions of Desmond and Bill

Assassin's Creed The Complete Visual History (p290 -292) - p291 has the line "... Desmond's father, William, adds an element of family drama..." calling it family drama sounds like an understatement considering how Bill and Desmond act around each other

Assassin's Creed The Essential Guide (p14, 66, 161, 218-219, 236, 238, 240) - this book is so weird. P218 says that Bill and Gavin shared the mentor role after the Great Purge, p237 says that only Bill took the mentor role (but didn't call himself the mentor) after the Great Purge

The most I got can be summarized from Assassin's Creed Encyclopedia, p182

If Bill did directly or indirectly cause Desmond's scar, I could not find it in the official books I have or even on Desmond's or Bill's AC Wiki page.

Unless someone can point out where it officially states that Bill caused Desmond's scar, I believe the whole "Bill is the reason for Desmond's scar" is AC fandom's own Mandela Effect. Most probably something that started as a headcanon (and for a very good reason) and is commonly used by fanfic writers (including me) which has evolved as a Word of Dante that we, as a collective, have mistaken as a Word of God.

Masyaf’s Current Situation

There’s no official note of the current situation of Masyaf in the modern days and I think Ubisoft would probably not do anything about it narrative-wise… I’d honestly be surprised if they did anything about it if they make an AC1 Remake. Now, it’s a bit nebulous if the Templars did manage to get the library but it should be noted that the last time we see Altaïr’s Apple, Ezio let it stay in the library and the ACR novel gave us:

“The bookshop was used as an outpost for the Assassins, and Ezio stored the Masyaf Keys in the chamber where he had found the first key, underneath the bookshop.”

If the Templars got into the bookshop then they’ll find all the keys and would have everything they needed to get into the library.

However…

The Apple would find itself in the hands of Queen Elizabeth I and Mahatma Gandhi before falling into Templar hands.

As far as I can see, Queen Elizabeth I isn’t a Templar so it’s highly possible that the British Empire did their usual ‘finders keepers’ thing and this wasn’t a nefarious Templar plan. So either Ezio got the Apple out of Masyaf and hid it somewhere else that would later be found by someone (maybe John Dee?) or Ezio… just left it in Masyaf?

I wanna give Ezio the benefit of the doubts and believe that he knew leaving it in Masyaf would be such a bad idea so the Apple was most probably transferred somewhere else.

Which means that Masyaf was completely abandoned by the end of Ezio’s era which Ezio would have believed be something that Altaïr wanted to happen.

I realized now I’m rambling further and further away from the actual topic for this section.

In conclusion: we have no idea if Masyaf is abandoned or occupied by the Templars in modern day. I will also add if it’s occupied by Templars, it might be a secret ‘base’ or it’s affiliated with a non-Abstergo Entertainment section of Abstergo because, as far as I can see, Abstergo Entertainment’s headquarters are based on existing Ubisoft headquarters (ex: Black Flag’s Abstergo Entertainment is in Montreal = Ubisoft Montreal)

Personally, I think that Abstergo would take over Masyaf castle either officially or unofficially as a way to show the Brotherhood how they hold one of the most important locations in their history. That’s the kind of power play the current Inner Sanctum would do.

(It would be funny in a ‘that’s fucked up’ kind of way if Masyaf is an Abstergo secret facility that does experimental work with captured Assassins as guinea pigs which they have done in the Philadelphia facility (Fall comics) and Madrid (AC Movie))

Eagle Vision

It was actually never explicitly stated who had Eagle Vision and who hadn’t but it’s noted that humans, in general, have the capability to unlock Eagle Vision although there are humans who has an easier time unlocking it.

AC1 noted that the Levantine Assassins knew about Altaïr’s Eagle Vision but there’s no evidence to suggest that they have it as well. Most of the time, they just tell Altaïr to use his vision without saying if they have it as well or not.

(it’s just personal preference to write that 12th century Assassins, both in Masyaf and Alamut, would have some form of Eagle Vision to show how much the Brotherhood had ‘fallen’ in the modern day. Canon actually points that only a small number of people can access Eagle Vision)

Hello! Because of the new TikTok ban scare alota people might come here in another exodus(it’s like the 3rd or 4th). It’s probably not gonna get banned but I would like to tell any new comers about Tumblr etiquette anyways! TLDR at bottom!

Ive been here since the quarantine(this is just a new account) so I know a bit(I’m also an internet history nerd so that helps). If any veteran tumblr users wanna chime in feel free to do so! Also please ask questions if you’re confused about wording or anything.

1. Porn bots:

This site has been plagued with porn bots for a long time but during an exodus you’re gonna see a lot of them. There accounts that are mostly empty for a while but then out of nowhere start posting porn and links to very sketchy sites and clog up tags. They’re very annoying to deal with and most users will end up blocking and reporting empty accounts and moving on. Unfortunately new users get caught in the crossfire and will get blocked and reported. Unlike sites like Twitter and TikTok were you can just not post and no one will bat an eye, people will see an empty blog start spam like posts and block them. You absolutely cannot have an empty blog. What you wanna do is fill your blog with posts related to your interests and reblog post you like. Not only is it helping you find your niche of weirdos but also signaling you’re not a bot. The most common first posts I’ve seen are intro posts and art dumps! Also decoration and blog customization also tells people you’re not a bot. Simply changein the pfp and header is enough for most of us tho.

2. Competition vr collaboration:

Unlike most socials tumblr is a collaborative site that loves creative bits and adding onto jokes rather than competition. It’s actually one of the main reasons tumblr and reddit are so intertwined. Competition and followers are not gonna get you anywhere. You’re better off finding a group of weirdos you like and befriending them. If people like you they’ll find you naturally. Also being tumblr famous is like getting buried alive. You don’t want to get famous here, the hate mail game is insane. Quick tip! Turn off annon asks if you don’t want some insane shit in your ask box or are more sensitive to weirdos. I have it on because I’m brave. The SCP community and other collaborative communities and fandoms all thrive here.

3. Tags:

I’ve seen newer users complain about “stolen tags”. You have never been able to “steal” a tag on any social media site I don’t know what they’re talking about. But anyways! Tags are one of the main ways you communicate on this site. Puns, comments, conversation, and more happen in the tags. It’s no longer a system of just finding posts you like. You wanna add something to a post but it doesn’t fit with the rest of it? Add it to tags. You wanna continue a bit or conversation? Tags. You just wanna goof off? Tags baby. It’s not the only communication of course but you will see conversations in the tags. Another tip! Tags will bleed into each other when looking for a super niche topic. Example: The Dr Glass, Glass Doctors, Dr Who, and Glasses tags will all bleed into each other but only when you are specifically looking for new Dr Glass content.

4. Ai:

Here Ai is very frowned upon unless under specific circumstances. Like reclaiming Ai adopts, actively mocking it, and chat bots. If you do post Ai “art” be cautious but you will end up getting mass blocked if we find you.

5. Fandom:

Like I’ve stated before this a collaborative site and as such you’re gonna see a lot of fandom here. Please be careful because mis info, interpretation, and bad faith spread like wildfire.

6. Don’t interact lists:

If you’re not aware a Do Not Interact list(DNI) is a list of groups or people who you don’t want interacting with your blog(s). It depends on the user but the most common ones in the lists are Homo/transphobes, Pedos, racists, sexists, and generally bigots. But remember for the life of however long your on this site not everyone is gonna listen to your DNI and they will interact anyways. It’s just as simple as blocking someone you don’t like.

TLDR:

No empty blogs, you don’t compete you collaborate, tags are important, Ai is generally frowned upon, fandom gets wild, and a don’t interact list won’t always work and just block people you don’t like.

Can I ask for your opinion on people comparing sanders sides to iris/Jacksepticeye’s egos when it comes to the wait time and how the stories have been handled? I’ve seen some discussion on people comparing both from that angle, and would be curious to know if you have any thoughts on that.

Btw I understand if you choose to ignore this ask since it does involve criticism stuff. Just would like to get perspective on this from someone who knows both a lot better (I am not super familiar with jse myself but I have been in the tss fandom for a while).

And yeah, I’ll talk about this a bit. As long as this is coming from a view to discuss and think reasonably and rationally and not a view of pure, burning, blind rage just cause. (Also, this is going to be long because I have a lot to say)

Personally, I have no problem with the wait from either creator. I can consume other forms of media for the time being. I enjoy their content greatly, and I dabble in artworks and fanfictions while I wait, but I’m not reliant. And it's not like these people are creating nothing. They still have other stuff for us to enjoy. Like Jack’s gaming content or Thomas’s shorts or videos with Sleep or the star signs or the planets. Hell, Thomas is working on a video for Picani right now!

Also, people don’t realize that these things take a long time. They both have to go to places, set up equipment, record multiple takes, and repeat since both of them deal with multiple characters. And then the whole thing has to be spliced together and edited to make a coherent story. And of course, Thomas is going to take longer because he’s doing more. Yes, Jack has to add glitchy effects to his editing, but Thomas is literally making music for us to consume and enjoy. Do you know how long it takes to make music? That adds more writing, more editing, background music production, and more recording on top of the stuff he already has to do.

And both come from small teams of people with a lot of things to do, so it's going to be expected when things take a while to come out.

The stories, on the other hand, I find a weird thing to compare (if they are being compared, I haven’t seen anything since I blocked the tag.) They are completely different genres after all. Thomas’s series is supposed to be more feel-good mental health help, with a hint of drama. (That, naturally, is gonna take more research.) Jack is making an analog horror. Things are going to be different. Also, Jack is just starting his series! He had to pause production because of COVID and just finished his video with Chase that he wanted to finish in 2019! We shouldn’t compare apples to oranges, but we definitely shouldn’t compare when one of the fruit isn’t even ripe yet.

Lastly, I find it weird to compare these people at all. Why? Because they’re people. It's like not going to college and then your mom going “Your brother went to college, you know.” We shouldn’t compare Thomas to Sean because Thomas isn’t Sean. People go at things at their own pace. People have their own personal struggles to deal with. And these people are people, not a content farm for you to throw your rotten tomatoes at whenever you feel.

And I’m not saying you have to like these people, I just think other factors go into both series that people don’t consider. Like personal struggles or where they live. (Not to get political, but Florida is kinda a shithole right now. Stay safe if you live in that part ❤️)

But yeah, sorry if this was long, these are my feelings on the matter.

She took a deep breath as she stepped out of the car, it had been centuries since she saw the man that turned her. She straightened her clothes and walked up to her. “Pam.” 

Pam looked at her and smirked. “Val. Welcome to Fangtasia, go ahead.” She stepped out of the way, allowing Valeria inside.

Valeria swayed through the crowd, she made her way to the back corner where Eric sat and watched the club. The moment he saw her he tensed, sitting straight up. 

“Miss me?” She gave him a slight grin. The last time they had seen each other he had ended things, telling her it was a mistake he even turned her. 

“Valeria, what brings you here?” 

“Straight to the point huh? Don’t worry I’m not here to attack you or anything.” Although she had threatened him before he left her with wolves. “This visit is strictly business, I would love to not be here and keep planning my revenge, however, it seems you don’t know how to do your job correctly.” 

Eric stood up. “I do my job just fine, now I would like you to leave my establishment.” 

She placed her hand on her chest. “I would love to leave, but I can’t. I have orders to make sure you find the idiotic human or humans in your zone harvesting vampire blood.” 

“I have it under control.” 

She scoffed. “Like you had it under control when you decided to get rid of me? I mean offense when I say, you don’t do a very good job at coming up with ways to deal with things.” 

He leaned down, his face inches from hers. “If I truly had wanted you dead, I would have done it with my own hands. I knew you would survive the wolves, I just wanted to have a little fun before I left you.” 

“Well honey now you’re stuck with me until the culprits are found and taken care of.” she patted his cheek. 

He grabbed her wrist. “I have it under control, you and your services are not needed.” 

“Eric, I suggest you let go of my wrist or I will burn your club to the ground with you in it.” When he let her go she sighed. “Look I don’t like this either, but I'm not leaving until it's done so you might as well use my help.” 

“Where do you plan on staying?” 

She smirked. “Now, that's better. I’ll be staying here with you.” 

Eric shook his head. “No.”

“I didn’t ask, I will be staying here. Show me the office.” 

“Why do you need to see the office?” 

She shrugged. “I'm gonna hang in there for now, until you close the club.” 

He groaned and ushered for Pam to come over. “Show Valeria the office.” 

“Of course, follow me.” Pam smiled. 

Valeria sat down in the chair behind the desk. “You can go back out there now.” 

Pam nodded and left, shutting the door behind her. 

Valeria spun in the chair for a few minutes and then started going through files. A few minutes after looking through the files she decided to try and get into the computer, she was just about to try another password when her phone rang. 

She smiled and answered the phone. “Hello, my Queen.” 

“Valeria, how did it go?” Sophie’s voice sounded concerned on the other end. 

“There was some resistance as I suspected, however as you said he can not ignore orders. I will find the culprits soon.” 

“Good, just remember to play nice with Eric.” 

Valeria rolled her eyes. “Fine, fine.” 

“I’m serious,” Sophie growled. 

“Okay. I’m going to hang up now, I have work to do.” 

“Alright, keep me updated.” 

“Will do.” Valeria leaned back into the chair as she hung up the phone. 

Her elbow rested on the armrest  of the chair, her pointer finger was pressed to her lips,  thumb on her chin as she stared at the computer and thought of what the password could possibly be. 

She was so lost in her thoughts she didn’t realize the door had opened or that it even closed shortly after until someone clearing their throats pulled her attention. Looking up from the computer she saw Eric standing against the door with his arms crossed. 

“What are you doing?” 

She shrugged. “I was bored, went through some files which by the way I organized for you, you’re welcome.” 

“I didn’t ask you to do that, and it looks like you were deep in thought. Does it upset you that you can’t get into the computer?” 

She rolled her eyes. “Please, I was just keeping myself entertained. I could care less about that  computer.”

“Good, because you won’t be getting the password.” He uncrossed his arms and walked closer. “Now get out of my seat, we have work to do.” 

“You can work from one of those chairs, I’m not moving.” It was Valeria’s turn to cross her arms. 

“And what if we need the computer?” His hands rested on the back of one of the chairs that were behind the desk. 

“Then you can give me the password.” 

Eric chuckled. “So you do care.” 

“No, I'm just comfortable here.” 

He looked down at the chairs in front of him. “These chairs are just as comfortable.” 

“Then you sit there.” 

Eric walked over to her, his hands resting on each armrest, bending down. “Get out of my spot.” 

She smirked. “No, you know the longer you try to get me to move the longer you’re stuck with me.” 

He growled and shoved the chair backward , causing it to hit the filing cabinet. “I loathe you.” 

Valeria stood from the chair, stepping closer to him, she grinned. “Ditto.” Shoving her way past him she sat down in one of the other chairs. “Go ahead, get on your computer.” 

Eric grabbed his chair, pulling it back into its place before sitting down, he looked at her as he made a hmph sound. His hands went to the keyboard, watching her from the corner of his eye. 

She leaned forward and laid her head in her hands as she watched, it wasn’t long before he shoved the keyboard away. 

“You locked me out!” He growled. 

She laughed. “You just have to wait a few hours then try again.” 

“You annoy me.” 

“And you piss me off, but we still have to work together.” 

He shook his head. “You’ve only been here a few hours and I already wish you would leave. I can handle things. Give me one week, if I still haven’t found them you can come help me.” 

“No can do, I’m already here. You should have asked for more time when the Queen called you.” 

“Whatever,” He rolled his eyes, “where would you like to start?” 

“You mean to tell me you don’t even have any ideas? Should you even be a sheriff?” 

“I have ideas, I’m just not sharing them with you.” 

Valeria’s eye twitched slightly. “I don’t believe you.” 

“Believe me, don’t believe me I don’t care.” 

She slammed her hands on the desk. “Dammit, Eric. Just work with me so I can leave!” 

Eric laughed. “You know, seeing you so upset that you’re stuck working with me makes me feel a whole lot better about you being here.” 

She stood up and headed to the door. 

“Where are you going?” Eric called after her. 

“Away from you, I’m hungry.” 

“Don’t go too far, it's close to daytime and when I lock up for bed I don’t open the doors again.” 

She opened the door and left. 

How dare he threaten her, after everything he put her through. He had been her first crush, her first love. He had turned her and promised her forever only to get bored and toss her aside like she was nothing. 

It didn’t take her long to find someone to feed on, even with the world knowing about vampires humans still stayed out late. Sure at first they hid and panicked, but then the true blood became a thing and humans started going back to being out late. Like she’d ever drink that crap, blood was better fresh. 

When she got back to Fangtasia, Eric was standing in the door. He smirked when he saw her and started to shut it. In the blink of an eye, her foot was stopping the door from shutting. “Eric,” she spoke through gritted teeth. 

“Sorry, I decided you can't stay here.” 

“It’s almost daylight, I have nowhere else to go.” 

“You really should have thought of that before.” 

She pulled the door open, causing him to almost fall. “I fucking hate you.” she walked past him. 

He shut and locked the door. “Same to you princess.” 

She clenched her fist but ignored him, she had told Sophia she would play nice. “Pam, sweetheart, why don’t you show me where I can rest?” 

“Sure, Val. Right this way.” 

She half expected not to wake up, but she did, although it did take her a while to get out of the coffin. Once she finally got it open and sat up she realized there was a sticky substance on the edges. 

Letting out a sigh she stood up, dusted herself off, and headed to the office. When she got into the office, Eric was already in his chair and Pam stood beside him. 

“So you’re finally awake?” Eric smirked. 

Valeria glared at him and sat in one of the other chairs. “Let’s just get this done, Who do you think is behind it?” 

Eric leaned back. “Someone got up on the wrong side of the coffin.” 

Valeria rolled her eyes. “Just because you want to act childish doesn’t mean I have to.” 

“I have no clue what you’re talking about.” Eric looked over at Pam. “Go get us some breakfast will you?” 

“Of course.” 

Once Pam was gone, Eric leaned forward a little. 

Valeria waited a second before speaking. “Well? Who do you think is behind it?” 

“Oh honey, I was serious yesterday when I said I wasn’t sharing with you.” Eric stood up. “That includes breakfast too, you’ll have to find your own.” 

Valeria stood up. “Fine, I will do your job for you without you.” When she got to the door she turned to face Eric again. “And just so we’re clear, I will be letting Queen Sophia know you were uncooperative.” 

Eric opened the door for her. “Go to a bar called Merlotte’s. There I helped.” 

She rolled her eyes. “Giving me one thing isn’t much better.” Valeria shoved past him. 

When she walked into Merlotte’s everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at her, she was used to that happening. She was wearing a red sleeveless dress with a black corset. She loved corsets, it didn’t matter if she wore a dress or pants she always styled her outfits with a corset, perhaps it was because when she was human corsets were a must for women. 

“Not another one.” A man from behind the bar shook his head and sighed. 

Valeria arched her brow. “Another one? Oh, you mean vampire. I would like you to know that yes I am a vampire however some humans dress and look like this.” 

“Look, we don't sell true blood.” the man set the pitcher he had in his hand down. 

 “Sam, come on.” A girl with blonde hair walked over, she turned and smiled at Valeria. “I'm Sookie, and we do sell true blood. Can I get you something?” 

“I don’t drink True Blood, I’m here on business.” Valeria headed to the bar, sitting right in front of Sam and smiling. “Although if you’d like to offer yourself…” 

“No.” Sam glared at her. 

“Suit yourself, although I can make it a very… pleasurable experience.” Valeria winked at him. 

“Business? Are you looking for Bill?” Sookie interrupted. 

Valeria gave Sookie a side-eye. “Do you mean Bill Compton?” 

“Yeah, what other Bill would there be?” Sookie laughed. 

“A lot of people are named... Know what, forget it.” she shook her head. “I can’t believe he lives here and Eric didn’t tell me.” Bill Compton was a vampire she loathed more than Eric, and that was because of everything Eric had done to her. 

“He should be here any minute, I’m sorry Eric didn’t tell you.” Sookie beamed. 

“I gotta get out of here.”

“Valeria?” Bill’s voice came from behind her right as she stood up. 

She turned to face him. “Bill.” 

“What brings you here?” 

“Oh she has business, I assumed with you,” Sookie said before kissing him and walking off. 

Valeria rolled her eyes. “It’s not with you, I’m looking for a human or humans.” 

“At least I'm not the only one that doesn’t like him,” Sam smirked as he walked off. 

“That’s not allowed here.” 

“Not like that you idiot, there have been some incidents lately that need to be taken care of.” 

“I believe Eric is the sheriff of this area, shouldn’t he be taking care of it?” Bill crossed his arms. 

“He was supposed to, but he didn’t get it done in a timely manner so now you get little ole me.” 

“Let me help, the sooner you get the job done the sooner you can leave.” Bill glances at Sookie.

Valeria smirked “If you’re worried about me killing your little plaything like you did mine, I won’t. At least not at this time.” 

“I’ve changed since then, and I want you to know how truly sorry I am for any pain I have caused you in the past.” 

“Funny how one apologizes when they have something to lose, but like I said I'm here for a job and a job only.” Valeria noticed two men fidgeting at a table from the corner of her eye. 

“Well if there is anything I can do to help let me know.” 

Valeria looked over at the men and then back to Bill. “Actually Bill, do you have Eric’s number?” 

“You don’t?” Bill pulled out his phone. “I do have it though.” 

“I don’t like to have numbers of people I don’t talk to.” Valeria shrugged. “Call him and tell him to come to Merlotte’s.” She patted his shoulder. “I’m going to go chat with someone.” She walked over and pulled a chair up to the end of the table the men sat at. 

“Hiya boys.” She gave them a malicious grin. 

“We aren’t fang bangers lady.” One of the men spoke, the other laughed. 

“All I said was hi, but on that topic. You may not be a fang banger but do you know anything about humans taking blood from vampires?” 

“Nope nu uh that is disgusting, almost as disgusting as banging a fanger.” the one that spoke before answered again, while the other started fidgeting under the table again. 

She laid one arm completely on the table, resting her elbow of the other arm on the table next and placing her head between her finger and thumb. “You see, I know Mr. Compton may have everyone feeling safe with his all ‘vampires are nice’ attitude, but let me tell you, not all of us are nice, for instance, I have a bit of a temper you can ask Bill yourself, and I just really hate being lied to.” She grinned “Now let’s try my question again, and I want you to really think about it as if your loved ones' lives depend on it because it does.” 

The man who had been silent scoffed. “Jokes on you, we don’t have anyone.” 

“You think that will stop me? Maybe just maybe I’ll turn you into vampires like me and watch you hate yourself until you finally come to terms, then I’ll wait and watch, and when you find someone you love and can’t live without I will take them from you, force you to watch as I slowly torture them first, because I can wait patiently to get the perfect revenge.” 

“Surely there’s a better way to get the information out of them?” Bill spoke from beside her. 

“Yeah, listen to Mr Compton.”  both men nodded. 

She looked over at the one that had been doing most of the talking. “What is your name? And his?” she nodded towards the other. 

“I’m Isaac and that’s Bobby.” 

She stood up. “Thanks, I enjoy knowing the names of my victims.” She turned and looked at Bill. “Did you call him?” 

“He’s on his way. What are you going to do with them?” 

“That’s my business,” Valeria smirked. 

Bill sighed. “I just really don't think you should..” 

Valeria held up her hand to stop him. “What I do is really none of your concern, seeing as you are not the Sheriff of this area and you are not the Queen nor are you that other guy I don’t like.” 

“Are there any guys you do like?” Bill scoffed. 

“Godric, He is the sweetest guy to ever walk this planet. Although whom I like is not any of your business.” 

“What are you gonna do to us?” Isaac spoke. 

“Torture you until I get the information I want.” 

Bobby gulped. “Okay it was us, but it was Seth’s idea he’s the one that wanted fast money.” 

“And where is this Seth?” 

Isaac glared at Bobby before answering. “We haven’t seen him today.” 

Valeria looked at Bobby. “Is that true?” 

“He’s headed to a known vampire house for the next one.” Bobby’s voice was shaky. 

“Dude!” Isaac kicked him under the table. 

“I have a club to run, this better be good,” Eric spoke as he entered the bar. 

Before she could respond Isaac tried to make a run for it, she grabbed his arm and broke it before tossing him towards Eric and grabbing Bobby. “I found two of three, I did your job in one night.” 

“Hey! Take it somewhere else, this is a family-friendly place!” Sam came out from the back when Isaac screamed in pain. 

Valeria gave a small smile and waved to Sam. “Don’t worry we’re leaving, but if you’d like my number before I go?” 

“No, just leave.” Sam rolled his eyes. 

“Really? Him? You’re going to flirt with him?” Eric looked at her in disbelief as he grabbed Isaac.

Valeria shrugged. “What of it? He’s cute, unlike you.” she walked past him, pulling Bobby along with her. “Now you’re gonna show me where this vampire house is.” 

Bobby nodded. “Okay okay, just don't hurt me.” 

She tossed Bobby in her car and then looked at Eric. “Follow behind me, in case I need assistance with Seth.” 

“Seth?” Eric spoke as he tossed Isaac in the trunk of his car. 

“The third guy, he’s currently getting their next vampire,” Valeria replied as she got in her car. “Just follow me and try not to get in the way too much.” 

“Okay, Bobby. I need you to text or call Seth whichever you would normally do. Tell him you need him to come outside, say you and Isaac are on the way because a vampire went into Merlotte’s and was asking questions.” Valeria looked over at him. 

Bobby nodded and pulled out his phone, his hands shaking. “Are you going to kill us?” 

“I’m not, but a different vampire most likely will.” Valeria shrugged. “We don’t take too kindly to our blood being stolen.” 

“But don’t you do the same thing to humans?” 

“I personally don’t, yes I don’t drink that True Blood stuff but I always get consent from the human I feed on.” Valeria looked at him for a moment. “Consent is everything.” 

“So if we had the vampire’s consent it would be okay?” 

“No, I mean if it was up to me then yes but no because it’s not up to me.” 

“That's contradicting.” Bobby scoffed. “Ok, Seth will be outside.” 

“I agree. It is very contradicting.” She parked the car a few feet away from the house. 

Eric was already standing beside the car when she opened the door and got out. “Stay here, make sure Bobby doesn’t try to run.”

Eric grabbed her arm. “You had me follow you, to babysit a human?” 

“Yeah, because I thought maybe just maybe even you couldn’t fuck that job up.” she dug her nails into his arm as she removed his hand from her. “Now be a good boy and stay.” 

She heard him growl as she walked away. Valeria went around the back, making sure to be quiet. She could hear Seth’s heart racing. When she got him in her sight he was pacing back in forth, a large cooler in his hand. “Come on, Bobby.” It was a mere whisper but she could tell he was freaking out. 

“Bobby, can’t make it but he sends his regards.” Seth jumped when Valeria spoke. 

“W-who are you?” Seth froze, his hand clenching onto the cooler.

“It’s funny, you can take blood from a vampire yet you can’t stand in front of one without being a scared little boy.” Valeria chuckled. “Let me guess, you find a way to weaken them first? With the help of Bobby and Isaac. And once the vampire is weak, they hang out at the bar to keep an ear out while you collect the blood.” 

“S-something like that.” Seth gulped. 

She walked closer causing Seth to back up, she grabbed his arms and smirked. “You can’t outrun me.” she licked her fangs. “What? You gonna pee your pants like a scared little boy? If so, you are not riding in my car.” 

“If I say I will, does that mean you will let me go?” Seth looked at her.

“Nice try, I didn’t come alone.” She winked and dragged him to her car. Eric was leaning against her door, arms crossed. 

When Eric saw her he looked at Seth, the cooler then back at her. “Is the vampire okay?” 

“I don’t fucking know, I had Bobby make sure Seth was outside then I brought him to the car before he could run, put him in your car and I will go check.” 

Eric stood straight up. “No, you can put him in the car and babysit the humans and I will go check on the vampire.” 

“I swear, Eric I wi-”

“He’s dead.” Seth spoke. 

“Excuse me?” Eric was inches from Seth. 

“T-the vampire, he’s dead.” Seth lifted the cooler. “This is the last of his blood.” 

“Well,” Valeria pushed Seth to Eric. “Looks like we can just go back to Fangtasia.” 

“Why does he have to ride with me?” Eric grabbed Seth’s arm. 

Valeria smirked as she opened her car door. “Because if he pisses himself it will be in your car not mine.” 

Eric clenched his fist, walked to the trunk of her car, opened it and tossed Seth in, slamming it shut. 

“Eric! You get him out.” 

Eric ignored her and got back in his own car. Valeria growled but followed behind him.  

When they got back to Fangtasia she looked at Bobby. “I suggest you just willingly go in, if I have to chase you we will have problems.” 

“I won't run.” Bobby sighed. 

“Good, now you can get out and go straight inside.” She unlocked the car. Once she saw Bobby enter the club she opened her trunk and grabbed Seth. “Let’s go.” 

She followed behind Eric as he headed in and down to the basement. Bobby had followed behind Eric and in front of Valeria. 

Once they had them chained up Eric turned and faced her. “There, now you can leave.” 

She nodded. “I can, however I think I want to play a little before I do. What time is Longshadow coming in?”

“Why?” 

“Because he is who I want to play with.” She shrugged. 

“I think you should just go, Longshadow has to tend to the bar. He doesn’t have time to entertain you.” Eric smiled

“If I didn’t know any better I would swear you were jealous.” she patted his chest. “It’s okay, I won't take up too much of his time.” She headed back up. 

When Longshadow stepped into the club she was beside him. “Hello.” 

“You’re still here?” He looked at her as he walked to the bar. 

“Yeah but now I can play, the job is done.” She leaned on the bar.

Longshadow smirked. “I’m busy.”

“The club isn’t even open yet, we have time.” 

Eric walked over, “Why don’t you just take no for an answer and leave.” 

She turned to face him, “Fine, I’ll leave.” 

“Good.” 

The second she turned to leave, Eric pulled her back, turning her to face him and kissing her. She shoved him away. “What the hell!” 

“I miss you, what I did was a mistake.” 

“Yeah a mistake you can’t apologize for with a kiss.” 

Eric sighed “I promised you forever.”

She nodded, “Yeah, well.” she stepped back from him. “Sometimes, forever just doesn’t last that long.” 

“Come on Val, even you have to admit we make a great team and we both know we make an amazing couple.” 

She shook her head “it doesn’t matter, you threw me away like I was nothing and I’m not doing that again.” she kissed his cheek “have a good life Eric, goodbye.”

People need to realize that writing fics and drawing art is a skill, and that the creator puts in a lot of time and effort into perfecting it for the audience. Yes, I was also intrigued when I saw how op was working on a ShouheixYata fic! Like I know some bits and pieces of how they’d interact as friends, but as romantic partners? I’ve seen some EricxYata and and ChitosexYata, but never a ShouheixYata. I’m sooo curious cause Yata is terribly shy when it comes to romance, while Shouhei is charismatic and nicer than the other abc boys. Like is Shouhei going to be all flirty and try to charm him?? Does Yata develop a crush on Shouhei which he tries to hide but miserably fails at it??

And I do!! So to start off, I’ll be honest and say that I’m not really fond of romantic!banshou. Its weird cause i have other ships with similar dynamics, and i also adore both characters individually, but im not the biggest fan of them as a ship. I think its probably bc i dont like how its portrayed by the very few fans they have, and how a lot of things about shouhei, end up revolving around bandou’s inferiority complex towards him (which really sucks as a shouhei’s girl who wants to learn more about him).

But despite being in my y/n feels for shouhei, i do have a few ships for him! I don’t think it’s as obvious as it was when i first created this blog, but shouhei/eric is the closest to an otp i have for this fandom. Its probably bc theyre my top two faves, but i do think they have strong potential to be a sweet and interesting ship, and the few interactions they have are so cute 🥺 the fact that shouhei is the only person Eric refers to by their first name other than Anna 🥹🥹 (although i do think its probably cause everyone refers to shouhei by his first name lol. If im not wrong, i think eric refers to fuji by his last name despite being very close). I also do think they’d look really good together! Despite Eric being unkempt and not into fashion, he is objectively very good looking and i think his sharp and cool features are a good contrast against shouhei’s softer and warm features. I genuinely do think shouhei is the second person eric is comfortable with, after fujishima. I also ship shouhei with chitose and akiyama! I think i started shipping shouhei with chitose sometime last year and honestly? I think they’d be a fun and hot pair. I can’t really see them being them in a serious and committed relationship, but i do think they would probably hook up here and there (or even just be really good friends, since theyre pretty similar to each other except for some differences). Akiyama/Shouhei is always going to be that one opposites attract/enemies to lovers ship for me lol. I wish their fight scenes from s1 were longer, im so curious on what the dialogue would have been like.

Yata was my first ever fave character/crush when i first got into K back in 2012, but unfortunately that died out. But i do think ericxyata is such a cute and funny pair! I remember reading this really old fic on them in which yata learns english just so he can finally respond to eric’s taunts, only to have the story end with eric kissing him on the cheek 💞 i don’t remember being sold that quick on a ship like i did with that fic lmaoo. They’re like my second favorite pair, but theres sooooo little content on them :/ thats what i hate about k. Most content are on the popular/designated ships, you barely see anything on different pairings/dynamics. Yata and Kamamoto are seen as platonic for the most part, but i can see some potential for it to turn romantic! Kamamoto is a ride and die for yata. Like if theres ever a rare chance that yata decides to leave homra (unlikely, i know), i do feel like kamamoto would probably join him idk. the loyalty there is really strong. I think yata and chitose would be interesting since chitose is a playboy while yata is a virgin, but its probably gonna end with a nasty heartbreak on both sides 😬

Ok so as someone who started using this website right before Elon announced taking Twitter, I just want to talk about my take on (some of) the changes since then because, in theory, they should be targeted towards my demographic.

Blazing: I think this was new when I joined, but I didn’t think it seemed bad. You can pay to make your post reach more people, probably to attract brand accounts to the site. I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of brand accounts since then on my dash but I’ve seen a lot of blazed posts for photography. Didn’t really mess with how I had used tumblr at the time, doesn’t change anything now. It’s cool

Buying Checkmarks: taking the piss on twitter, which was funny at the time. However I’ve noticed people with more checkmarks will often have posts on my dash that are kinda cut off? I assume the checkmarks reached a second row and pushed the text out of the post but it’s kinda annoying. This has really only happened to me on mobile and is a pretty rare occasion, but i just don’t understand how this kinda thing happened in the first place? Was it not accounted for that some users would have ridiculous amounts of checkmarks?

Tumblr live: I’m gonna be honest, I thought this was a gaslighting thing from the community. Fucking never showed up for me, but from what I understand nobody liked it. My rule of thumb is if your feature is “opt out” for no reason, you never had confidence in it in the first place.

Side bar: why is it there? Isn’t all the stuff it shows already available on the top of the screen in the desktop application? And why? I honestly liked how tumblr payed out there stuff compared to other social media because it just felt different. It just seems like tumblr is trying to become new twitter, which is not a good look bestie.

Icon hiding: this is the newest one and I hate it so much. Why do I even have a pfp if nobody is gonna ever see it? Why am I able to display stupid checkmarks and badges if they don’t show when I reblog a post? A lot of these changes just feel needless, and this one by far is the stupidest.

Now, for a change of pace, what would be some changes I would actually LIKE to see as a newer user?

Tagging presets: when I reblog a post, or hell even post my own, wether I tag it at all or not depends purely on how I feel at the moment. For me rebloging feels like it should be able to be done quick. To remedy this, I think you should be able to have custom presets near the tag button. Like say I wanna reblog some art, I could click my “art” preset to automatically put down all the tags I would want when reblogging a post like that (Art, Not Mine, Fandom, ect). From there I can add or remove tags if I feel like it, but the point is to just make it more intuitive to reblog with tags. Especially because, from what I understand, that’s the only way a post will get traction.

Likes doing something: I don’t know what the point of likes are for. I think they contribute to your For You page, but I don’t look at that as often as my main dash. Maybe if likes had an effect on the main dash it could also help the problem with reblogging. Though I have no fucking clue what they would do extra if im being honest. Maybe just get rid of them entirely. They are, to say the least, pointless.

If I have any other thoughts I will just add them to this post.

I've seen your post in #anti atyd and I wanted to share something.

First and foremost, I am a Remus Lupin die hard fan. I recently got back on tumblr to feed my obsession with this character. I was not previously aware of the "marauders era" or aware that atyd even existed. I honestly hate it. What I hate the most is when I am trying to look for Remus content and I'm hit with freaking Andrew Garfield propaganda. Are you kidding me?

I love Lupin because he is a grown man with experience, strength, maturity, and wise knowledge. I'm not interested in some edgy teenagers you know? I also believe the way he is portrayed in atyd is so out of character...

Don't get me wrong. It is entirely OK that atyd exists and that the author wrote it and had fun and that people are enjoying it...but so much of it is pushed as "canon" and it just pollutes my feed and I guess I'm just tired of seeing Andrew Garfield. I also feel like the atyd side of the marauders' fandom tend to romanticize things that should not be romanticized and it's uncomfy. Like they can't accept that canon marauders were not nice and perfect popular boys. They were bullies and did bad things.

Anyways sorry for the rant but I feel like there is no safe space for me to express those thoughts without getting jumped by angry people.

I can see where you’re coming from. Remus Lupin is my favourite character in the whole of HP and I love all the intricacies of his character. He is not just the soft, uncle type character he is incredibly flawed and it adds so much to him so some of the depictions of him in fanon are kinda annoying.

I won’t lie and say I don’t see Andrew Garfield as young Remus as I personally love it but I can see where the repetition and constant in your face fancast can annoy you as that’s me with George MacKay (fancast for Grant Chapman) who is a phenomenal actor but the constant pushing of him does make you slightly annoyed every time you see his face.

I’m looking at the next bit without any bias based on my favourite characters and personal preferences:

I also kinda hate when people act like the Marauders do no wrong and were the saints of Hogwarts (even though the marauders are some of my favourite characters) they did bully other students but I think people also take Snape’s memories as fact and don’t remember that Snape fired back just as much. They think that it was all the marauders but it was equal footing between them. This however doesn’t mean that one side needs to be idolised and the other demonised, they were all teenagers who should’ve known better but they also grew up in different environments and during a war so I suppose that might’ve influenced them as well.

But yeah feel free to rant! It sucks that there aren’t really like separate tags for the canon versions and the fanon versions of characters but I guess since it’s the same character it makes sense for them to have just 1 umbrella tag for them. Unfortunately people are always gonna be dicks about opinions they don’t agree with, some people just don’t realise people can have different thoughts about things.

I feel like I have to answer In the midst of a storm. Writing this fic was extremely frustrating at times because I had this amazing picture of it in my head but I felt like I could never do it justice due to lack of time, energy, and stability. I pushed myself through it and managed to finish it, though, and honestly some comments I got on it made me look at it in a much more positive light! Hopefully I’ll be able to read it back one day without cringing too much lol

7. Work I’m least proud of (and why):

Probably As long as you’re not afraid to feel. Not that I think it’s bad or anything, but I feel like you can tell by reading it that I wasn’t really into it. It’s one of these fics whose idea I came up with early on, but only started working on it months afterwards due to other commitments, and by then I’d kind of lost my initial interest in it :/ I do think it’s a pretty fun one, but it could have been much better if I’d worked on it as soon as I started brainstorming it

Ugh, the entire year until September, basically. 2022 has been a very stessful year for me, and despite wanting to make writing a priority, it definitely felt like I’d lost my mojo at times. I only started to pull myself out of it once I 1. moved back to Canada and 2. got into the Dream fandom - I probably just needed a change after 3 years of focusing exclusively on 1d, I guess

10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: 

I wrote a few smut-adjacent scenes for It the midst of a storm that did surprise me, or at least were a new experience for me lol

From Running From The Sun

 “I don’t. I don’t want you,” Niall protests, but it sounds half-hearted at best. Louis almost has her in a chokehold now, and it’s time for her to land the final blow.

 “Yes, you do. You think I haven’t seen the way you were looking at me earlier, while you were dancing with that guy? You think I can’t hear your heart beat faster whenever I get a little too close?” She punctuates her words by taking the last step that separates her and Niall, and now she’s got the slayer right in front of her again. Right where she wants her. “Hell, you think I don’t notice the blood rushing to your cheeks right now?” she adds in a mere whisper. “You think-”

 “Shut up,” Niall hisses out. Louis can see her swallow, and she knows she’s got her now.

 “Make me,” she dares her.

12. How did you grow as a writer this year: 

It’s probably gonna sound dramatic but, for the major part of the year, I’ve felt like I was regressing as a writer. I’d constantly be second-guessing everything I wrote down, including stuff that I never had a problem with before (like dialogues). It’s been pretty exhausting, but in the end I guess it did make me grow, in that it made me more aware of my strengths and weaknesses.

A more practical answer would be that I wrote for new pairings and fandoms, and as mentioned before I even wrote some more explicit scenes, which is something I never thought I’d be able to do, much less to share 😳

13. How do you hope to grow next year:

Continue posting for the Dream fandom. I’m currently working on a longer fic for it that I’m really excited about!

Otherwise I’d like to get back into writing everyday, and like Jinny said, try to edit less while writing even though that habit is so ingrained in me that it might prove to be difficult.

14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): 

Oh god... My introvert tendencies came back in full force this year, and I ended up taking a big step away from the 1d writing community, unfortunately. Maybe that’s something that I’ll try to change next year too, because I do miss these interactions!

Weirdly enough, I wanna say it’s the opposite. In both New York Kiss and In the midst of a storm, Zayn works a retail job, and that’s something I ended up doing for the first time over the summer. Life imitating art and all that 😌

16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:

Who am I to impart wisdom? lol I guess just... don’t give up. If you’re feeling like you’re losing your inspiration, give yourself some time and/or try something else (like a new pairing or something). Follow whatever excites you in a given moment, even if it means putting other projects on hold.

17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:

I’m excited to keep writing my current Dreamnotfound fic. Also looking forward to running the Zouis Fest again, and to starting writing my fic for it (even though I have no clue what it’ll be yet)

You can call me Peach! I got into Danganronpa when the Game Grumps started playing it, and haven’t quite been able to drop the interest since. I’m a 26-year-old nonbinary lesbian, and I’m currently working towards a career in video games. It's just me running this thing, so please be patient waiting for me to get back to you!

What's with the "for anon (:" tag?

There are a few blog policies that have generated some pretty nasty messages in my inbox. To save me the headache and my followers the annoyance, I make it a personal policy not to respond to them; instead, I just quietly reblog the content again and move on. These topics include:

Chihiro on the blog. You can find the reasoning in this post! The quick version is that I personally find most Chihiro headcanons perfectly valid, but due to the transphobia inherent in their canon depiction, it is important to me to acknowledge the popular fandom reclamation of the character as a trans girl.

Miyadera/Sister Shinguji. I outlined my full opinion on this here, and this is an important follow up! The quick version is that the degree of violence people wish on Miyadera makes me extremely uncomfortable considering her lack of canonical presence, and it reminds me of famous misogyny-driven character hate.

Will you still tag those topics for blacklisting?

Absolutely! The 'for anon :)' tag is to discourage aggressive asks, not to mock anyone who has issues with the subject.

A post where skin was lightened wasn't tagged/you tagged a post for whitewashing but it wasn't lighter than the canon skin color! Why do you keep doing that?

I have a TERRIBLE time distinguishing colors. I'm one of those people who has a ton of difficulty telling shades of the same color apart, and it's even more difficult for me to eyeball when they've changed the tints but not the lightness. You're just gonna have to tell me anytime a post like this comes up ): Sorry for the inconvenience!

Why do you reblog [X] type of "problematic" ship, but not [Y]?

Danggirlronpa sits somewhere on the line between an archiving project and a fanblog. Over the years, I’ve seen many fanworks and fandom history lost due to blog deletion and movement across platforms. This blog is intended to preserve all of this content for newer audiences and maintain an easy-to-use interface. As a preservation project, I try not to impose too many moral restrictions on what I reblog, even when it makes me personally uncomfortable. However, since this isn’t a professional archiving project, I’ve allowed myself one or two arbitrary standards for things that truly cross the line towards what I personally find uncomfortable.

If this is a project for archiving F/F ships, why do you reblog posts with just one girl?

Due to the nature of some girls’ popularity in fandom, there is a huge discrepancy in the amount of content for each of them. To even that playing field a little bit, I tend to reblog content for less appreciated girls, even if it isn’t actively sapphic.

What about why you reblog whitewashing?

Whitewashing and other forms of covertly racist, homophobic, and transphobic expressions in art are an important thing to archive because they show us the ugly side of fandom. For all four notably dark-skinned girls in DR, even after getting notably less engagement than their light-skinned peers, deleting every post that lightens their skin would cut their presence on this blog by half.

Ultimately, this blog aims to preserve the ugly parts of DR and its fandom, too, whether that be giving dark-skinned characters monkey companions in official merch, Atua jokes, trans Chihiro discourse, or blind hatred of "bitchy" female characters. While uncomfortable, they are something to note and learn from. If any existing tags do not help keep these off your dash in the event you don't want to see them, I highly encourage you to ask me to tag in a way that will be easy for you to block!

The harassment I experienced led to a suicidal relapse, and I still have a great deal of trauma from it. As a result, I am very cautious about asks like this. Unless I have overwhelming approval to do so from followers, which I would only ask for in the event of a charity or benefit project, this blog will be a permanent safe space from real world issues. I may talk about oppression that I have personally experienced, but I will not bring up major current events.

hi!! i'm really excited for this blog and i don't want to be a pain, but could you please tag ships for fanfiction? including y/n fics? ie. chanyeol x reader, baekhyun x kai, etc.? it'd just be easier to browse or mute certain ships :3c right now, it's hard to find what you're looking for by scrolling through the fanfiction tag

Hi! Thank you for sending in this ask, and let me preface this with you're not a pain and I understand why you're asking, although I apologize in advance as I'm sure this is not gonna be quite the answer you're looking for.

I'm still finding my feet, so to speak, with the needed balance between IRL obligations, making time for my own creative fanworks and this blog. The whole purpose of this project is twofold. One to try and get more people interacting both with each other and with fan created posts. And the second is to encourage people to make fan creations.

I'm frankly failing miserably at the moment lmao, but I expected that coming into this. Its still early days and the culture here isn’t going to change overnight. If it changes at all. I can't control what other people put on thier blogs, nor can I make people interact with each other or in the community blog, but I can try to create opportunities for those inclinated to interact the chance to do so, and I can control what goes on this blog; which is every tumblr based fan creation I come across. With a few other types thrown in for good measure.

As time allows, I've been reblogging the posts that people have tagged me in, such as in the case of all of the fanart seen in previous days. I also take a little time each night before bed and check the exo tag and the forexols tag for any fan creations posted that day. In the case of the christmsas posts I sacrificed some of my sleeping hours to do a deep dive into the exo christmas tag. With all of these my goal is to share as many fan creations as possible in the time I have so I'm honestly not paying too much attention to content beyond type. To be truthful, and I apologize in advance for my bluntness, the tagging system I have in place right now is less for you guys and more for me. A less heavy tagging system means more time scrolling. I tag the things I’m most likely to feature, for example our fanfiction creators, I can just type fanfiction and have the entire list at hand to quickly add to the queue. Same for say a members birthday, I just need to type thier name. I have no plans on differentiating between shipping or reader insert or oc when it comes to sharing our fandom creators and after a small trial run with a heavier tagging system I decided that time constraints meant a lighter tagging system works better for me at this point in time.

That being said. This may change in the future or it may not, however to aid people in finding fic to suit thier tastes I am compiling a Library of fanfic writer's masterlists. It'll be sorted by shipping and reader insert/oc with potentially a small description of what they write mainly. It is an ongoing project because like I mentioned before this blog is new. It's only been up for about 20 days. Less than a month. But eventually the library will be a lot fuller than it is now. It's not a perfect solution to what you want, but its what I can currently offer.

Again I'm sorry that you're having difficulties finding what you're looking for specifically, but I'm currently dealing in generalities and will be for the foreseeable future.

That One Fuck: MY BELOVED KAGEYAMA TOBIO. The reason---from the first moment l laid my eyes on him l knew he was gonna get misunderstood both by in universe characters and the people from HQ fandom.

Fav Romantic Ship: l love all my founding fathers of volleyball yaoi but KAGEHINA is closer to heart.

Fav Friendship: I'd say BAKUTO & KUROO. This 🐈& 🦉 duo made me laugh so much, l had to watch Tokyo traning camp arc two times the first time around.

Underrated Character: hmm. That would be UKAI KAISHIN, Karasuno's couch. I'm going to be honest here, l didn't pay much attention to him the first time he was introduced.

I noticed how other team's couches were giving their opinion of the players, their steagth and weakness during practice and official matches and thought why isn't he giving any insight. Then, it hit me that he was young and inexperienced compared to those other couches who were way older then him and even had assistants. And he even gave some fantastic ideas to Kags about how to use their strength to Max efficiency, e.g. the falling toss or dropping toss or whatever it's called.

(PS: I know this 👆 was obvious but the first time I watched HQ that was 9-10 years ago and I was young and stupid.)

Underrated Relationship: So, l have both platonic and romantic. PLATONIC would be HOSHIUMI & HIRUGAMI. I don't think fandom explore this dynamic enough or at all. I haven't seen any take on them aside from romantic. Another is ADLERS TRIO. there are so many MSBY road trip AU but not even one about ADLERS as far as l have seen.

ROMANTIC would be USHIJIMA & SAKUSA bc l had an UshiSaku fever and the image of them cuddling and being cosy on couch while reading an ad about new vacuum-cleaner with such seriousness and fascination was to cute to resist.

A Random HQ Headcanon: Basically this twit--- kageyama is so blunt when he figured out he was in love with hinata he probably was like “i’m in love with you by the way” mid set in the middle of practice. and when hinata stares at him dumbfounded he’s just like “u good? 🤨 u gonna hit this toss or what?”

This fic perfectly nails this hc without compromising their canon characterization so now I wholeheartedly believe in this. This is canon to me.
