#I’m excited for the anime

My BF and I are driving home from his family’s and we still have, like, 3 1/2 hours left so I’ve been jotting down some 100YQ thoughts. I for sure want to read it from the beginning again, since I know I’m forgetting some things and I’m sure there are things I missed lol Anyhoo, here are my thoughts (with a couple spoilers, don’t worry I marked them)

* LOVE Gray learning how to use Juvia’s magic on the fly and calling out that guy’s sexist bullshit🤴🏻

* I think Ignia will absolutely use Lucy against Natsu prompting them to hopefully and finally confess (?🤞🏼👀🤞🏼?)

* Love the newfound respect Laxus gained for Lucy and how he threw his possessed self in front of her to protect her. 🥹

* Bummed we missed Natsu get jealous of some randos hitting on Lucy😆

* Wendy having Irene’s consciousness lingering inside her is super interesting and I both get and don’t understand why she keeps it from everyone. I hope we get a mini arc or something about it! (Spoiler) if you’ve read the latest chapters 120 and 121 we know no arc, but I actually really like what they did with Irene! I do wonder, though, if she’ll remember her past life on Earth-Land 🤔

* Wendy is so powerful now! So proud of her! 🥹

* Can’t wait to see the Redfox baby(ies)!!

* Will the series end when Team Natsu finishes said 100YQ? I hope we get to see life/at least a couple more adventures after they go back home.

* The rock dragon god (I’m sorry I can’t remember his name and am too lazy to just look it up😅) said something about Natsu smelling like a dragon and a demon and I hope that gets expanded upon. I feel like it’ll have to be since Ignia seems to be more powerful than the other Dragon Gods.

* (Spoiler) I’m not thrilled about them being “friends” with their enemies (I’m just not super trusting of them after everything that happened lol), but seeing Team Natsu question if they’re the bad guys in this situation was interesting for sure.

* (Spoiler) Selene can see Irene??? Also Irene can …leave(?) Wendy’s body at will??? Did I see that right??

* (Spoiler) it literally destroyed my whole mood for at least a week after Lucy’s arm got cut off. I just kept thinking about Future Lucy and “no WAY is her losing that hand/arm inevitable!” The relief I felt (like a month later) after seeing it was Gemini 😫

* The fact that Natsu remembers her Star Dresses before her😆

* Seeing Aquarius again was so great and upsetting at the same time. Man, I hope they find her key! Also, has Lucy actually told anyone what happened to her key? If so, I’m bummed it was “off camera” that would’ve been great development to see!

* I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t mind the fan service/Nalu “crumbs” even the latest one lol

* Someone else brought this up: we never hear/see Natsu’s inner monologue so we never really know what he’s thinking at any time. I wonder if that’s been intentional from the start and what’s the reason—if there even is a reason.

* I wasn’t expecting to go back to Edolas in this series, but I’m glad we got to see how everyone is doing.

* I actually liked the part in Fairy Nail. Seeing alternate versions of themselves in their own reality must’ve been weird to say the least😂

Batman fun fact! Did you know that Scarecrow’s toxin doesn’t always cause fear? Sometimes it does the opposite! In Detective Comics #571, he wields a variant that completely inhibits the biochemical fear response, preventing people from feeling any concern for themselves or using basic common sense. He runs a racket administering it to star athletes, who take huge risks and get badly injured. Then they’re willing to cough up a lot for an antidote. Batman and Robin - here Jason Todd - catch on, but Bruce is dosed with the reverse fear toxin; since his intelligence is his greatest strength, being too overconfident and reckless to think twice about anything makes him his own worst enemy.

This premise was adapted in the Batman: The Animated Series episode “Never Fear”. There we see that with no fear of losing his moral integrity, Bruce becomes cold and merciless to criminals. Robin - here Tim Drake - has to catch somebody he leaves to fall off a building, tie him up to stop him endangering himself and others and give him the antidote to prevent him murdering Scarecrow.

But in the comic book, Jason is kidnapped by Scarecrow. (He gets gassed, and hallucinates Bruce dying and telling him that it was his fault.) He isn’t around to keep Bruce in check as he goes to rescue him through a series of death traps that he can’t resist cutting it as close as possible in. So how does Bruce not go off the deep end? How does he not lose sight of what’s important? Not lose himself?

Because even a drug designed to shut down stress at the most fundamental level can’t overpower his true worst fear. The Dark Knight might feel fearless…

but a parent never is.

we rarely see heart pirates go batshit and it was in fact incredibly validating to see them do so like they’re not weak they’re genuinely a well oiled machine and competent as fuck. law only had to say “take the sub,” and “go to the sea” and his crew immediately knew what that meant and started and underwater attack specifically meant to exert maximum damage

another thing i found really interesting is that not much was known to blackbeard about their fighting style which to me implies heart pirates rarely go all out OR they just don’t leave much survivors to talk of their fighting style 😭

I know Spock’s misunderstanding of human things is generally played up, even by Spock himself because he’s a little shit like that, but I like to think there are some things Kirk/McCoy do that he genuinely does not understand.

Like they’re at some sort of carnival/festival and win one of those prize stuffed animals and Spock pretends to think that’s illogical and not understand the point of a worthless trinket but in reality he totally gets wanting to win something for your partner and feels all warm and fuzzy seeing them carry it around all night.

But then he swears, or makes a lewd comment or says something adult and McCoy gasps dramatically and covers the plushie’s ears and is like: “how dare you, Spock?!”

And Spock looks over at Jim all confused, but Jim just nods seriously and is like: “you can’t say something like that in front of Mr. Fluffles.”

And Spock genuinely blue screens.

He’s careful about what he says the rest of the night and when they beam back aboard he finds time to corner Uhura and tries to figure out the best way to ask WTF he did wrong. Uhura gleefully (and between giggles) explains that plushies are “innocent” and should be treated in a similar way as children (with great respect, care and not saying crude/adult things around them.)
