I’ve been so inactive, but just know I am cooking up a Mistynat fic so crazy, that I buzz just writing it

Idk about what Thai word was used and its translation (@lurkingteapot might have some insight there), but a “curse” is such a perfect word choice in an English translation for the grandfather to use in Peaceful Property, because its vernacular use blurs the lines between the spiritual and the physical realms. A curse is a great evil, but specifically an evil called upon by humans, often because of another person’s wrongdoing.

You know what the show sees as evil? Patriarchal Capitalism and the alienation it causes. You know who the show has centered as the builder and maintainer of the capitalist structures, who the show sees as having been in the wrong even if he’s not some mustache-twirling villain, who the show has pointed to and who has now self-admitted that he brought about the ‘curse?’ Home’s favorite gramps. The family’s curse is its inheritance of wealth, the privileges that come along with, and how all of that not only alienates them but forces alienation onto others to maintain it all.

And that is a deeply spiritual as well as physical problem for everyone. This isn’t some cop out. This is the core idea of the show. We don’t have a exorcist and a lawyer involved in this series for no reason! It holds every possibility for exorcising the curse by/and redistributing the Vimarnsukman’s wealth. Every episode, every little piece of this show has been doing double duty to depict a wildly complex idea about the spiritual impact of capitalism and its family on everyone involved in 12 episodes. Nothing about the series itself so far has actually indicated they don’t intend to see this through. Have a little faith in this work!
