Eri Reader in Demon Slayer with the Hashira’s? She was teleported at the Demon Slayer Corps and the Hashira thought she’s a Demon because of her horn
Sanemi cuts himself to show Eri’s ‘True Colors’, only for Eri to take off some of her bandages around her arm to rap around Sanemi’s wound, showing her small arm littered in old and new scars (Shocking the Hashira)
The Hashira realize Eri’s not a Demon, rather she’s a human child with a powerful ability called Rewind
Shinobu did a little test with Eri’s blood, not finding a single trace of demonic essence in her blood, only that her cells have an incredible regeneration and repairing ability inside (Giving her a good idea why Eri has so many scars, making her feel disgust and anger)
The Hashira are shocked to learn Eri doesn’t know how to smile (After asking what Sanemi was doing with his face)
Eri becomes close with all the Hashira’s, but her personal favorites are Mitsuri, Rengoku and Gyomei (She likes Gyomei the most) though she also likes Sanemi and Obanai even if they come off cold and harsh at times, she doesn’t take it personally
This is before Mugen Train
-The Ubuyashiki compound was filled with shouting when you suddenly dropped down through a swirling portal, looking ragged and rather panicked which unfortunately only got worse as these unknown people were all quickly yelling at you, drawing swords and weapons, calling you a demon.
-The moment you burst into tears was when several of the Hashira realized you were out in the sun, and you weren’t burning like normal demons.
-Mitsuri quickly had you in her arms, hugging you close while Obanai and several others yelled at her, thinking you were going to attack her, but your tears slowed, a bit surprise she was being so gentle with you, like you weren’t used to being treated so gently.
-Ubuyashiki arrived and you were brought inside, and his daughters described you as a young child in a rather dirty dress, bandages covering your arms, legs, and neck, with a small horn on only one side of your forehead.
-You were a little scared, introducing yourself after he asked, “I’m Y/N.” you little voice was so small and broken, Gyomei and Mitsuri were both quickly in tears, worried about you.
-He asked you what had happened, and you explained, “I was running from Overhaul- I didn’t want to be hurt anymore, and I saw a sparkly portal and I ran to it, and I was suddenly here.”
-They didn’t recognize the magic, as it didn’t sound like a demon blood art, or at least one that they heard of before Sanemi stood, “This is ridiculous Master! Y/N is just going to attack us when our guard isn’t up! Isn’t that right demon?!” as he said this, he grabbed the front of your dress, hauling you up, trying to intimidate you before he threw you down with a sharp cry leaving your lips.
-He pulled out his blade and your eyes went wide, thinking he was going to hurt you before he sliced his own arm open, “Demons can’t resist the smell of blood- do it! Attack me so it proves you’re a monster!”
-You were in shock, seeing that he hurt himself before you quickly stood up, rushing to him and he smiled, thinking he was right, before you quickly pulled some of your bandages off, revealing your scars as you tried to wrap his cut, tears slipping down your cheeks, “Don’t hurt yourself!”
-All eyes were on you, blinking in shock, seeing you trying to treat Sanemi’s wound while you were trying to stop crying, your little hand coming to rub at your eyes, sniffling softly.
-They were able to confirm you weren’t a demon, after Shinobu took a small sample of your blood, you were a normal human, just with a small horn on your head. Shinobu and Mitsuri took care of you, giving you a bath and Amane provided a spare kimono with a simple checkered pattern.
-When you were brought before the rest of the Hashira, Mitsuri hugging you while crying, not able to handle how they found your little body, Shinobu gave her report that you had been tortured, like you had been experimented on.
-Others were furious to hear how a child had been treated as Ubuyashiki spoke, “Y/N- you mentioned someone before, Overhaul, was he the one who did this to you?”
-You were a little hesitant in answering, giving a small nod which Amane told him, as you realized he was blind by the wound on his face, making your heart ache.
-Amane, trying to lighten the mood, spoke, “Do you like your kimono, Y/N?” your cheeks turned a bit pink, looking down a bit shyly, “Is it really okay for me to have something this nice?”
-This made the mood worse however, as this was just a simple spare kimono, but you were acting like it was a treasure you had been blessed with.
-Ubuyashiki was the only one who appeared calm, “Why did he do this to you?” you hesitated in answering, remaining silent for a moment, “He was trying to turn my quirk into a weapon.”
-You were surprised when they told you they didn’t know what a quirk was, as you were used to everyone having one, and you explained, where you came from, everyone had abilities, some small and some big and flashy.
-Shinobu then spoke, curious, “And what is your quirk, Y/N?” you held up your hands, biting your bottom lip only for a moment, “He called it Rewind, he said I could rewind things.”
-This did little to help, as they were all confused and you spoke up, feeling a bit scared but also willing to show them that you meant no harm, because they weren’t hurting you or being mean, not counting your first meetings with them.
-You stood and approached Ubuyashiki, holding out your hands, “Can I- can I show you?” the Hashira were quickly on the defensive, thinking it was a trap, still not fully trusting you, but it was Ubuyashiki who stunned all by reaching up, taking your hands.
-Your horn flared to life, a bright colored aura covering it which surrounded him and all in attendance froze as his curse slowly receded, bit by bit, until only a mark by his hairline was visible as you let out a raspy pant, falling back as your face flushed with a fever.
-Several shouted out your name in worry, Amane getting to you first, while several others shouted out Ubuyashiki’s name, completely stunned that you were able to do this. You were able to reverse the curse of a demon!!
-A few hours later, when your fever finally broke, Sanemi was sitting next to you after you had been presented with a meal, something simple, “It’s so yummy!” he couldn’t help but glare, angry about how you had been treated, it made him think of his siblings.
-He had been the one to watch you, while the others were in a meeting, with hopes that he would be nicer to you, or else.
-When you were done you looked down at his arm that was more properly bandaged, “Do you want me to heal that?” he was surprised, but gave you a grin, “Nah- I’m gonna let it heal the old-fashioned way- it will make for a cool scar!”
-You were surprised by this before you lifted one of the sleeves, looking at your own scars, “Scars are cool?” he hesitated in answering, while he earned his in battle against those who earned them, you were tied down and hurt in a cruel way.
-He ruffled your hair lightly, surprising you that he was so gentle, “Yeah- but only if you think they are.” You looked up at his face, cupping his cheeks, “What are you doing with your mouth? I saw Mitsuri and Shinobu doing it too.”
-Moments later he stormed into the meeting, holding you in his arms, flames of fury surrounding him as he told everyone you didn’t know what a smile was or how to do one.
-The discussion on how they needed to keep you safe, as they knew Muzan wouldn’t hesitate to use you, as your ability was something astounding but also dangerous, as most of them were quickly shouting, lamenting your bad fortune, and preparing an attack on Overhaul, wanting to seek him out.
-You were in Gyomei’s arms, who was crying while you were trying to calm him down, trying to wipe his tears, which only made things worse, seeing what a kind heart you had.
-Ubuyashiki couldn’t help but smile, seeing how lively everyone was- they were all going to help you, no matter what.

Mattheo Riddle x fem!Reader
[masterlist][last part]
This is gonna be Christmas centered(gift giving and such)even though it’s almost Halloween😭🤷‍♀️thought it was cute.
I’m sorry if this is a bit long, I’m tryna get in some real plot with this chapter🤞🥰
Warnings: A Lil Angst(in the beginning), VeryFluffy,SweetSmut,Unprotected PinV, DaddyKink. Sex Toys Mentioned&Alludes to Bondage(future pt😉)
“Are you sure we’re allowed to be in here?” Mattheo asked in a hushed whisper as you pushed the heavy door of your manor’s library shut behind you both.
“I’m the only one who ever comes in here, they won’t even hear us talking all the way in the back.” You sighed out, the ball had just ended and your father had unsurprisingly pulled your mother into his study, likely to “brief” her on his plans.
“I know I should have told you ages ago and it was wrong of me to keep it from you….and all of our friends. But I just couldn’t, I couldn’t even form the words to tell you he was a Death Eater, let alone what he’s been planning since….he went into hiding.” Mattheo listened to your hushed words intently, wincing slightly at your mention of his father as you led him to a small leather loveseat in the far back corner of the large, dusty library.
“I knew I’d tell you eventually….I guess I just got so caught up in everything else that I never decided to try. Or maybe I was just too scared you’d never talk to me again. Honestly I don’t know.” You shook your head as you sat on the cold leather, Mattheo remained hovering, standing in front of you as you avoided his eyes.
“I had a half-brother, Will. He died before I was born in the First Wizarding War. My dad tried to run with his first wife, so his wife and son were killed. He married my mom for the money that marrying into my grandfather’s family promised, and then had me to make sure he got the inheritance.” You didn’t notice when you started crying or when Mattheo joined you on the seat to comfort you. The story was clear in your mind as though it happened to you, you grew up under your fathers hatred, and knew every small detail of his obsession.
Your father was one of very few people who knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Dark Lord did not die on Halloween of ‘81, and when he inevitably came back to power almost 3 years ago, it all was meant to fall into action. Your father played the dutiful follower as he weaseled his way into his inner circle. Your mother was to play the innocent housewife as she absorbed all information from the wives and husbands of the other Death Eaters. And you….you were to get their children to tell you anything they knew of their parents assignments. However, you threw a wrench in that plan before it even began, you’d never hurt your friends, and once you started dating Mattheo it was solidified.
And your father hated you for it.
It only took one year at Hogwarts for your love of your friends to overpower your love for your father. You fed him lies and misinformation or avoided home all together, but somehow could never come out and tell your friends why you introduced yourself to them in the first place. By the time you realized you should have, they were your new family, you couldn’t imagine them turning around and hating you just because of this mistake. So whether consciously or not you weren’t sure, but you hid it, for almost 6 years, you hid it. Even as your father approached his goal, even knowing all of their families would be caught in the crossfire when he succeeded.
“You don’t need to tell me it all tonight,” Mattheo whispered in a small voice nothing like his usual cocky tone. Your bloodshot eyes met his in a pleading look as you tried to speak.
“No I do, I….I should have told you years ago, I should have told all of you years ago.” Mattheo was a smart person, he’d already guessed what your role in this was, and considering him and his father were still very much alive, he also guessed you didn’t quite play the role you were given correctly. Despite the pit in his stomach about what he’s going to have to do to protect you, he was soaring over your loyalty. The fact that you were here in front of him, and not in your fathers study, had his heart hammering in his chest. If he hadn’t already planned to marry you, he certainly would have decided to right here.
“No Gorgeous, you really don’t….I think….I think I already know.” He sighed with a soft smile as he took your chin in his thumb and forefinger, turning you to look at him with your bloodshot, teary eyes. Mattheo delicately brought the thumb of his other hand to wipe your tears away, like you were a piece of art he was preserving. His lips followed suit, pampering light kisses down both your cheeks as he whisperered, “It’s okay y/n, I know and I’m still here, I’m always going to be here.”
Your body practically fell into him as you collapsed into sobs of gratitude and relief. Mattheo’s arms wrapped around you as though it was what they were made to do, pulling you into his lap as he settled into the loveseat further. He let you sob into his neck, brushing tangles from your hair with his fingers and speaking softly of your future together in your ear until you were silently breathing deeply and lightly snoring into him.
“You’re safe Baby, you’ll never have to come back here I promise you that.” Mattheo listened to your breathing deepen as you fell into a dreamless sleep in his arms, but continued to speak, “You’re the only part of this world that matters Darling,” He nuzzled his nose into your hair as his eyelids fell, content right here with you, “I will let it all burn just for you my beautiful Angel” He let out a deep sigh as though finally stripping himself of a great burden on his shoulders, “You’re all that matters to me,” His fingers curled into you hair deeper as his hand on your waist pulled your sleeping form in closer in a protective hold.
He stayed holding you for what felt like an eternity while so short at the same time before gently rising with you in his arms, carrying you bridal style as he maneuvered through the dusty bookshelves to the door. He found your room easily, he’d been there before as a child, you and the rest of the boys had spent practically all of Winter, Spring, and Summer Holiday your First Year there. He’d never understood why you’d never invited them again, but now he saw it clearly as a form of protection. Your father likely loved the idea of the sons of all of Voldemorts best followers, and his own son, coming around his manor with their guards down.
It was much different now, the large circular bed in front of the arched window was now covered in shades of red with black pillows instead of the purples he’d remembered from years ago. The vanity directly across the bed was new as well, it’s large mirror sparkled with the reflection of the stars behind the headboard of your bed as he placed you on it. He swore you looked like a princess, the color of your dress clashing with the bed only drawing his attention to you more while he retreated to remove your heels, struggling to unclip them before tossing them aside with a huff of annoyance.
You stirred slightly as he untied the strings on the back of your dress and began softly pulling it down. He wasn’t quite sure what to do with it so just draped it across a fuzzy chair in the corner with a shrug before ridding himself of his tie, suit jacket, and pants. He unbuttoned his shirt as he crawled slowly onto the bed behind you, trying his hardest to let you sleep while attempting to get his shirt on over your arms. You woke up only for a second, allowing him to slip you into his shirt as you voiced your annoyance in a few grumbled sentences before slipping back into your dreams, snuggling into his scent and giving him a warm feeling in his chest.
He found it easy to fall into a dreamless sleep, something he was never used to until you were a constant in his life. Under your blankets surrounded by your scent, he felt safe, he felt you were safe, he pulled you into his chest with a content sigh. He’d been waiting weeks to sleep beside you again, and he didn’t plan to be sleeping alone anytime soon.
The next morning Mattheo woke you with kisses to your neck and face, allowing you to adjust to the early morning light before ushering you to get dressed and ready to go. “We’re going back to Hogwarts….or anywhere you want…” Just not here, he thought, wanting more than anything to have you out of this house before your father even realized he planned to.
Repacking your trunk was much faster with Mattheo grabbing things and throwing them in before yanking it up and escorting you out of your own house. Before you recognized what was happening you were being Apparated to right outside the Hogwarts grounds and tugged through a tunnel you had no idea existed.
“Matty what is this?” The tunnel was cramped, barley enough space for the both of you as he guided you around as though he’d been there before.
“It’s a tunnel he made when he went here, not even Harry or the Weasleys know about it so we’ll be safe in here while we get back to the castle.” You didn’t need to ask who he meant by he and you definitely didn’t need to ask why he seemed to know it like the back of his hand.
“Oh” Your voice was small and meek as you started to realize he was keeping things from you too, you didn’t know whether to feel relieved that you weren’t the only one keeping secrets or worried about what he felt was too dangerous to inform you about. You knew he had unavoidable meetings with his father, you knew he had to do things to stay alive and you didn’t blame him, but it hurt you to think about the fact that you’d never really thought about what must be happening.
You’d seen his scars and fresh wounds every month, but he’d always say he had it under control and for some reason you always listened. A part if you wanted to know everything right then, while the other, much larger part, was wishing you’d run away with Mattheo when you had the chance.
After what felt like hours you emerged from behind a statue in a dimly lit corridor somewhere in the dungeons. Mattheo took your hand like it was second nature, allowing your trunk to float along behind him while escorting you to his dorm. The corridors were empty and cold, most of the remaining student body gone on holiday, the castle that used to bring comfort to generations of young witches and wizards, now held a lingering sense of danger, like something wrong was hiding just behind the corner.
And as you watched Mattheo’s focused eyes, clenched jaw, and possessive hand, you thought there just might be.
~~~~
Christmas at Hogwarts was always worth looking forward to, it gave even the most damaged of us a chance to let loose. But as you looked around the Slytherin Common room, realizing it was almost midnight on December 24th and not a single person seemed to care, you decided that just for the next 24 hours, there wasn’t a single thing wrong. You would tell everyone the truth on the 26th and everything would be okay. You were sure of it.
Even if it was just you and Mattheo, you were celebrating Christmas like you did every year. Huddled up in the boys dorm, drinking spiked hot chocolate, fighting over the best Christmas songs, and giving each other presents.
Mattheo wasn’t shocked to see you sauntering through his door with a bottle of firewhiskey and wrapped boxes as you had for the past 5 years. His heart sank slightly as he watched your eyes swivel around the un-decorated and empty dorm room.
“Wh-,” They had decorated their dorm room every year, at first it started with you bringing them little ornaments from a village by your manor your first Christmas together. By your second Christmas, Mattheo took it upon himself to buy a miniature Christmas tree. A memory you could never forget, a chilly December evening organizing only 5 ornaments along it. Arguing slightly all the way until Mattheo told the boys to just listen to you. It was one of the first moments you even realized you liked the curly headed boy.
From that year on, every member of the friend group was ensured to get at least one gift, a new ornament for the dorm tree. Which was still stuffed in it’s box under Mattheo’s nightstand. Mattheo followed your eyes to it and sighed, “I’m sorry Baby, I completely forgot to decorate this year and all the boys got an owl to come home so I did-“
“It’s okay Matty,” You gave him a soft smile as you set your bottle and packages on his bed and took your seat beside them.
“I’ll set it up now and we can decorate it together, Enzo and Blaise left some gifts behind so w-“ He stopped abruptly as you flopped backward further onto his bed with an exaggerated sigh.
“What a shame, all of your dorm mates gone and no way to be caught in the act, the horror,” You giggled slightly as your sarcasm began to settle in his mind and a smile tugged on his lip.
“Don’t act like you don’t absolutely love when we’re almost caught, I can feel how you clench around me Princess,” He stalked towards you as he leant himself against the bedposts at the end of the frame, eyeing the way you bit back a laugh and sat yourself up on your elbows.
“Okay Mr. “Scream My Name,” Your voice held an unusual mix of teasing and dominance that Mattheo wasn’t quite used to as you swayed your leg and watched while his tongue subconsciously wet his lips.
“Mmm, don’t tempt me Princess. I wanted to open presents first.” He faked a pout, watching your skirt slide up your moving thigh as your fingers moved to slowly unbutton your shirt.
“Am I not a present fit to be unwrapped Mr.Riddle?” You teased as you licked across you teeth and played at the second button on your shirt. Mattheo groaned from deep in his chest as his head fell backwards, his jaw clenched as he tried to collect himself.
“Baby, I have a plan and if you call me that again you’re gonna miss out. You don’t wanna miss out do you Gorgeous?” His eyes met yours, the dark spark you knew meant he was in control having you bite at your smile and shake your head, still slightly playing with the buttons on your shirt.
“Good girl, now come here,” Mattheo suddenly pushed off the bedposts and motioned for you to follow with a wiggle of two of his fingers.
“I thought I’d have to give these to you late but since you’re here,” Mattheo sighed happily as he pulled out a trunk from under his bed, “Sit on the edge….now.” You were slightly confused but after a second followed his orders, swaying your feet and waiting patiently as he unlocked the trunk with two loud clicks.
“Your first set,” You narrowed your eyes at him as he set two neatly wrapped black boxes beside you, both tied with a red bow. “First….set?” Mattheo only nodded his head with a happy little smile before urging you to open them with his outstretched hands. The first and smallest was expected, a delicate glass snowflake ornament hanging from a silver ribbon.
“Perfect, I can hang it on the tree when it’s set up,” You said happily as you gently set it back in it’s box, “Actually that’s gonna be the first to go on our tree.” Mattheo interjected, making you giggle up at him before realizing he was entirely serious.
“It may collect some dust while I find the perfect cottage for you,” He said with a wave of his hands, “but that’s the first place it’s going, nowhere else”
“Okay Matty, it’s decided,” You laughed as you grabbed at your, significantly less neat, golden wrapped package. Mattheo’s hand dramatically shot to his chest as his mouth dropped open, “For me?” he gasped sarcastically, ripping it from your hands as he opened it.
“Oh fuck Baby, is this the one we saw in Diagon Alley?” Mattheo’s voice was filled with excitement you rarely got to hear as he pulled out the thick silver ring with a snake tangled around the front. He haphazardly shoved it on each of his fingers before ultimately settling on his right pointer finger.
“How does it look Gorgeous?” He held up his pointer and middle finger, letting the others fall beside them as he watched you bite at your lip. “Can’t wait to find out what it’ll look like halfway inside of you…mm” He seemed to be in his own world as he eyed the ring, fitting perfectly with the other two he already wore on that hand, before shaking his head slightly, “Guess we’ll have to wait and see, your turn again.”
You shook your head, blinking rapidly with a shocked smile before reaching for the next box, his eyes lighting up to follow as though he’d just remembered what was hidden behind the wrapping paper. It was was longer and thinner than the last box, opening on a hinge to reveal a golden necklace with a heart shaped ruby dangling in the middle.
“Gods Matty….” You whispered, feeling across the necklace delicately with your fingertips. “It’s beautiful,”
“Can I put it on for you Princess?” Mattheo asked as he crawled on the bed around you, reaching for the necklace before you could answer. Clasping it quickly and leaving a kiss on the base of your neck, whispering with a confident smirk, “It has my initials carved in the middle of the heart.”
You chuckled as you felt at the pendent hanging between your collarbones, grabbing at the next package while Mattheo began kissing up and down the back of your neck, sending shivers down your spine as his breath fanned against your cold skin. You turned in his arms, handing him his hext gift with a smile. “And here’s your ornament,” Mattheo gasped as though he was offended, snatching the package mumbling, “Don’t ruin my surprise Baby,”
“I get you one every year, besides you don’t know what’s on it, now open it,” He huffed while ripping at the messily placed tape, halting slightly, staring down at a handmade ornament in the shape of a gingerbread house. A moving picture of you and him from almost two years ago sat where the door would have been, a picture that was taken only days after he realized he was madly in love with you, something he wasn’t sure you knew. Making it ten times better.
“I’ve changed my mind, your snowflake will be the second ornament on our tree.” His gaze met yours as a smile grew on his face, laughing while gently placing it into it’s box and leaning back to set it on his nightstand. “I wanna open my last one before you get more.”
Mattheo’s voice was stern and matter of factly, taking his last present from beside you as you nervously chewed the insides of your cheek. He wasted no time ripping into it, looking between you and the box as his brows bunched together, delicately pulling out a silk red tie, “Now, no offense Darling, but red isn’t really my color,”
“No….but it is mine.” Mattheo watched as you bit your lip before looking back at the box, realization settling in as he clutched the tie hard in his hand, closing his eyes as he groaned slightly.
“You know they say great minds think alike….” He spoke after a second of gathering himself, kissing your cheek before slipping off the bed and reaching back into the trunk, retreating with two larger wrapped boxes.
“This one first,” He all but shoved the box at you, watching you intently as he bounced in front of you. You slowly unwrapped the box, delicately removing each piece of tape as Mattheo narrowed his eyes at you threateningly. “I’m gonna open it myself if you don’t hurry up.”
“Okay okay” You giggled, tearing through the rest of the paper and throwing off the lid of a deep red box. Your breath caught in your throat as you stared down at its contents, a black blindfold neatly wrapped around a set of fuzzy handcuffs, a vibrator, and a collar on a chain. Your face burned as you looked up to a now very nervous Mattheo.
“Is it too much? Do you not like the idea? We can just move on to the next one if-“ He rambled as you looked up at him with a smile, reaching into the box as he spoke.
“Is this a remote Mattheo?” You asked teasingly, biting your lip at Mattheo’s sigh of relief from your demeanor. “Hell yeah it is Baby, that’s more for me though,” He was immediately back to his regular cocky self as he snatched the remote and slipped it into his pocket.
“Saved the best for last.” Mattheo sighed, handing you the largest of the four and watching you intently. He knew exactly which would he your favorite, and knew exactly which one to save for last. You smiled brightly up to him as you pulled out the red, loose weight thigh length dress from it’s box.
“Matty! I love it, thank you,” You practically screamed as you jumped up to hug him, laughing as he lifted you up by your waist. He chuckled in your ear, wrapping your legs around him, pulling you back to look at your face.
“Anything for you Gorgeous,” He said breathlessly as he smashed his lips into yours in a passionate kiss, stealing the breath from your lungs while his tongue began exploring your mouth immediately.
“Fucking hell I love you, you’re the best thing to ever happen to me ya know that,” He growled, kissing down your neck, nipping at it aggressively as he mindlessly cleared the bed of presents, papers, and boxes before laying you down softly and crawling up your body to meet your lips again. Mattheo quickly rid himself of his shirt, pulling at yours as you slid your skirt and panties off, Mattheo cursed as he jumped from the bed to shove his sweats and boxers off. Tripping over them in a rush to join you back on the bed, falling on you slightly as you fell into a fit of laughter.
“Yeah yeah whatever, come here,” He huffed, pulling your face in to an aggressive kiss. He nipped at your lips and battled your tongue with his, your teeth knocking together as you breathed heavily into each other’s mouths. His hands trailed slowly down your sides, stopping at your hips to tug you forward, plowing into without warning, a whine of a moan fell from you as Mattheo sighed and fell into you, holding himself up on his forearms as he began softly fucking into you.
Mattheo’s lips trailed along your shoulder, stoping only to moan as you circled your hips to his slow thrusts. Your fingers found themselves tangled his hair, tugging slightly as the others trailed down his toned back with a teasing scratch. He groaned in your ear, picking up his pace only slightly as he rocked his hips into yours. He lifted his head to meet your eyes as you clenched around him, steadying himself with a hand on your hip, increasing his pace further as he watched your head fall back with a moan of appreciation.
Mattheo felt himself twitch inside you as your nails dug into his back and tugged at his hair, he wasn’t gonna last long after not having you for weeks, but he wanted you to come first. He slowed himself down to an agonizingly slow pace as you whined under him, he balanced himself on a hand beside your head as he brushed his free hand from your hip down your thigh before suddenly bringing it to rush fast circles onto your clit. Picking up his pace and falling back into your neck, licking a stripe from the base of your neck to your ear, whisperering against it’s shell as you shivered, “You like that Princess? Do you like being fucked after I spoil you?”
All you could do to respond was nod weakly as he groaned against your bruised neck, “Do you like it when Daddy treats you like a Princess?” For a second Mattheo stalled, as though he didn’t mean to let the name slip, but quickly picked up his pace as you wiggled below him with a whine of “Yes”
He looked down at you with a wild, daring smile as his eyes darkened further, “Yes what?” He growled, thrusting into you harder as you tried to speak, jumbling your words as you began to lose focus.
“Daddy, ye- Oh fuck, Yes Dadd-“ Mattheo cut you off with a wicked smile as he ruthlessly pounded into you, you were shaking with the bed as his thrusts became irregular and his fingers slowed. Your head felt dizzy as you clamped around him, feeling his cum spill inside you sending you over the edge as you screamed his name.
You came together as Mattheo collapsed on top of you. “That’s much better than our past Christmas traditions,” You sighed in a breathless voice as Mattheo’s arms snaked around your naked waist, cuddling you into him while still inside.
“I love you, and I plan to spend every Christmas I have left with you,” Mattheo whispered in a suddenly very serious tone.
“i’m just saying that the little conejita would make a ton of money” vox just blinked at valentino after that sentence. you were sitting on vox’s lap during one of the vee’s meetings. you didn’t much care for the conversations and you didn’t really pay attention to half the things they said. then again vox also distracted you anyway he could especially because when velvette was late, like today, valentino’s attention always was turned to you.
“you’re not making my girlfriend a porn star val.” your boyfriend sighed, you barely were able to be within a couple feet of valentino let alone be able to work with him. especially due to the fact that if you weren’t currently sitting on your boyfriends lap you would probably be freaking out over the fact you’re even in the same room as valentino.
valentino got up and moved from his seat on the other side of the board room table to one next to you and vox. he leaned over so he could be eye level with you, taking your attention away from whatever movie vox put on your phone to entertain you. “conejita, wouldn’t you like to be a star?” you just stared back at the moth before turning your gaze to vox which caused valentino to let out a sigh.
“see! she won’t even answer me she’s too worried about what her little boyfriend wants to answer” vox let out a sigh at this. “val. i don’t control her.” valentino thought for a moment before sitting back up and smirking at vox. “then hand her over. she obviously won’t answer without your opinion if she’s still with you.” vox rolled his eyes before sighing again. “val-” the moth immediately cut him off. “vox you know i’m right.”
vox made eye contact with you as you were still staring at him before picking you up and putting you on valentino’s lap which immediately caused you to reach back out for vox. valentino used one set of hands to move you so you looked at him and another set to hold your hips. “look at me little conejita.”
you looked at valentino, but not for long as your vision started to get blurry due to tears welling up in your eyes. valentino sighed “i forgot how much of a cry baby this little conejita is.” he picked you up and set u down on your feet right in front of vox. who expected you to immediately climb back onto his lap for comfort. but to his surprise when he reached out to you he was met with the sound of a thump.
vox did research on bunnies when he first started going out with you. one of the main things he learned is that when a bunny thumps it’s basically a big “fuck you”. he was glad you never did it to him before so you can imagine his surprise when you thump at him for the first time.
“baby.” your boyfriend said lowly. valentino pissed him off half the time to begin with, but now you thumping at him too? he tried to remain calm but his patience was thinning. “the little conejita has never thumped at me.” he was right, you never would dare thump at valentino, he scared you too much. vox scared you at times too, but you were still upset about him just giving you to valentino that you thumped at him again.
vox didn’t know what to do at this point, you were usually his well behaved little bunny that usually never caused trouble, he’s only needed to punish you once and that’s because he had caught you chatting with the radio demon. so he was quite surprised to see his baby bunny thumping at him. especially when he’s trying to calm down the crying that was still coming from you.
he took a deep breath before picking up your much smaller figure and bringing you back onto his lap. “hey.” he said in a stern but still comforting tone, it wasn’t until he noticed you not paying any attention to him that he got a little louder. “hey!” you immediately looked up at him sniffling.
he sighed before looking over at his business partner and signaling him to leave. “i’m trying to be nice to you here baby, but you’re making it hard when you’re not even paying attention to me.” he said it in his more comforting tone trying not to work you up more as he hates the sight of you crying. “what’s with the thumping? you don’t do that with me i thought?”
you shook your head trying to wipe away your tears but more just came flooding down afterwards “you gave me to valentino. i don’t like valentino.” he let out another sigh before kissing your forehead and pulling you into him. “i know baby, but the thumping is not okay. not with me okay? you wanna thump you can thump at valentino all you want.”
you shook your head again, why couldn’t he understand you were scared and he gave you to the reason you were so scared? vox stood up and set you down next to his chair. you looked up at him confused before you heard a thump. which caused you to just stand there confused.
“see baby? it’s not so fun to be thumped at hmm?” you shook your head at his comment immediately moving to try and get comfort again. grabbing onto his waist as it was level to your chest due to the height difference. vox sat back down and pulled you back onto his lap. “we done thumping now?” you nodded and vox immediately pulled you closer so that your head laid against his chest. “good because i have to deal with valentino being pissy all the time i don’t need my baby thumping at me all the time to add onto that.”
Scare • Matt Sturniolo
Tumblr media
pairing: matt sturniolo/fem!reader
summary: matt and you handle a pregnancy scare.
tags: angst and then fluff, with some humor sprinkled in. happy ending.
tw: light discussion of periods and pregnancy
It feels like my heart stops as I look at the calendar on my phone.
9 days late. And I’m never late.
I noticed this morning that my box of tampons still sat in the cabinet, unopened, in Matt and I’s shared bathroom. I hadn’t thought anything of it, until I opened my calendar to see when my next dentist appointment is.
I swallow dryly as I lock my phone and slip it back into my pocket, dropping down to sit on Matt and I’s bed. All I can think about is that damn calendar. 9 days late. 9 whole days. One or two days is normal I guess, but nine entire days?
I can feel my thoughts spiraling already. Matt and I are safe. I’m on a good birth control and we use condoms often. But even those aren’t foolproof. I do remember forgetting my pill twice this month.
Oh god. What if I’m pregnant? I’m not ready for a kid right now.
Oh god, and Matt. Matt isn’t ready either. With his career and plans with his brothers there’s no way this could even work right now. It would ruin everything. I feel tears of worry and anxiety fill my eyes and begin to drop down my cheeks.
My thoughts just continue to spiral and spiral, until I feel the bed dip next to me. I turn to see Nick, who had stayed behind with me while Matt and Chris went out to pick up some groceries.
“Babe, what’s wrong?” He asks concerned, his arm wrapping around my shoulder, pulling me into a side hug as we sat together.
I open my mouth to speak as my eyes meet his, but all that comes out is a sob. My hand moves to cover my mouth as more sobs follow. Nicks face creases in worry as his other arm wraps around me, pulling me into a hug as he rubs my back soothingly.
“Deep breaths, babe. Whatever it is, it’ll be okay,” he tells me, making me jerk back as I shake my head.
“No it won’t! He’s going to hate me!” I cry.
“If you’re talking about Matt, that kid could never hate you,” Nick tells me, voice calm and reassuring.
“I don’t know, Nick,” I laugh without humor, “this might.”
“Did you cheat?” Nick asks face calm, but apprehensive.
“No! God no,” I immediately answer.
Nick gives a small smile at the quick response.
“Okay, highly doubted it when I asked anyway,” he laughs, “but I don’t know what else could have you so upset thinking he’s going to hate you. You can talk to me, I want to help. What’s wrong?” He asks again.
I sigh. Nicks my best friend. He’s how I met Matt in the first place. I really wanted to just talk to Matt about this first, but with LA traffic and all Matt probably won’t be back for another hour. I don’t think I can survive another hour keeping this all bottled up.
“Nick, it’s bad,” I begin, voice shaken.
“I don’t care how bad, I’m here,” he immediately responds.
I take a deep breath.
“I’m late.” I state.
If this wasn’t so serious, Nicks reaction would have been funny. He stares at me blankly for a moment, before his head cocks to the side a bit in confusion.
“Like, to an appointment?” He asks, lost.
“No, Nick,” I sigh, shaking my head, “my period is late” the last part comes out like a whisper.
Once Nick connects the dots his jaw drops open a bit in surprise, confirming my feelings.
“See! It’s so bad, Nick, this is so bad!” I yell, jumping up from the bed and beginning to nervously pace in front of where Nick sits, still shocked.
“N-no, it’s not bad!” He stutters as he watches me with wide eyes.
I stop pacing and just look at him.
“Really? Not bad? Your jaw dropped open like that because you were trying to catch a fly, then?” I ask sarcastically.
“Listen, I just got confronted with the fact that my best friend and brother fuck, I needed a second,” he defends, hands up.
“Nick, we’ve been dating a year. We dont go to bed and play clash of clans together,” I tell him, making him roll is eyes.
“I know! I know but I also don’t think about it and now we kinda have to think about it and I don’t like it!” Nick exclaims.
“Don’t think about it!” I yell back.
We pause for a minute, staring at each other before we both crack smiles at how ridiculous this has become. We laugh and I return to sitting next to him. Nick wraps his arm around my shoulder again and rests his head against mine.
“So, how late are we talking?” He asks, getting back to the important point.
“9 days,” I whisper.
“Okay. Not horrible. Could be later,” he says, nodding. I nod too. A moment of silence passes as I nervously pick at my nails and Nick stares at the wall, thinking.
“Well, I think we know what we gotta do.” He says, softly.
I turn to him, knowing too.
“Let me call Matt, he should still be at the store with Chris. They can pick up a test,” Nick says. I take another shaky breath before nodding in agreement. I get my phone out and go to Matt’s contact, dialing his number before handing my phone to Nick.
“Hey baby,” Matt’s voice comes through the speaker softly.
“Hey, it’s Nick,” Nick says, earning a confused noise from Matt.
“Nick? Why do you have her phone? Is she okay?” He asks quickly, his concern making me smile softly despite the stressful situation.
“Um,” Nick pauses, which only worries Matt further.
“‘Um’, isn’t a good answer when a guy asks about his girlfriend, Nick,” Matt responds quickly.
“Sorry, she’s okay, but we need you to pick up something else for her while you’re at the store,” Nick says.
“Okay, what?” Matt asks.
Nick looks at me, encouraging me to speak. I take a breath before taking the phone out of Nicks hands, taking it off speaker and holding it to my ear.
“I need a pregnancy test,” I tell him softly.
I cringe as there’s a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
“Okay, I can grab that. Do you need anything else, sweetheart?” He asks softly. I smile again despite the tears I can feel coming again.
“No, that’s it,” I whisper.
“Okay, we’ll be back soon, I love you,” he tells me.
“Love you too” I say back before hanging up.
Nick and I move downstairs, where he puts on a movie for us to distract us while we wait. I let myself be pulled into its predictable plot line as we wait for Matt and Chris to come home.
We both are startled out of our focus on the movie when we hear the front door unlock, followed by it opening to reveal Matt coming in with a mostly empty plastic bag in his hand, while Chris came in carrying the other groceries. Nick moves to help Chris and grabs some of the heavier bags from him, both of them walking to the kitchen while Matt walks over to me.
I stand as he meets me by the couch. He looks surprisingly calm, while meanwhile I feel like my insides are shaking with the anxiety I’m feeling right now. He gives me a small smile before wrapping me in his arms. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding as I relax into his arms, resting my head against his chest. He gives me a gentle squeeze as I feel him press a kiss to my head.
“Let’s head to my room, baby,” he whispers, pulling back from the hug and grabbing my hand to lead me that way. Once in his room, he hands me the bag with the pregnancy test in it before sitting on his bed. Before walking to our bathroom, I pause.
“Matt, I need to know what this will mean,” I tell him.
He gives a small smile and holds his hand out to me. I walk over and grab it. He gives my hand a gentle squeeze, before bringing it up to lips to give it a kiss.
“We’ll do it together. Whatever it is. Sure, I thought kids would be later. But, if now is the time, now is the time. I think I’d be more freaked if this was with some random girl. But with you? I know whatever happens, we will be just fine,” he tells me, before giving the back of my hand another kiss.
“You promise?” I ask.
“I swear,” he tells me.
I smile and nod, before heading to the bathroom. The test is quick and easy, and I’m soon done. I leave the test on the bathroom counter, set my timer for fifteen minutes, and come back out to sit next to Matt on our bed. I rest my head on his shoulder as Matt wraps his arm around me. We just quietly sit, both of us lost in our thoughts as we wait, only to be shaken out of our trances by my phone loudly going off.
I sigh as I stand and walk back to the bathroom to grab the test. I pick it up, careful to not flip it over to show the result, and walk back out to Matt. I stop in front of him. He gives me another reassuring smile as his hands come up to rest on my hips.
“Ready?” I ask, voice cracking.
“Yeah, baby,” he says.
I take a deep breath, knowing this small test in my hand could change everything for the both of us. But I look at Matt, looking up at me with so much warmth and comfort in his eyes, and it’s not so scary anymore.
I flip the test over, both of our eyes moving to see the result.
Negative.
“It’s negative!” I say, laughing. He smiles too, standing and pulling me into a tight hug. We both rock back and forth as we hug, feeling relief. We pull back from the hug and Matt kisses me softly. We both smile into the kiss.
After we part, we walk hand in hand out to the living room where Chris and Nick both sit. They both give us smiles when we walk in.
“So, are we going to be uncles?!” Chris yells, practically bouncing on the couch in excitement.
Matt rolls his eyes, shaking his head while I laugh.
“No, it’s negative. My periods just late, that’s all. It happens sometimes,” I tell them, almost feeling bad when Chris pouts a bit.
We spend the rest of the night laughing and watching movies together, Matt holding me snug in his arms. That night when we go to bed, Matt says something that surprises me.
“Is it bad that I was just a little disappointed?” He asks me softly.
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Well, when you first called and asked for the test I was freaking out on the inside. But then I talked to Chris a bit and the whole drive home I thought about it. And then I thought about a little us, a mix of you and me. And as life changing as a kid right now would be, I got excited,” he says, voice soft and quiet.
I smile, leaning in to press my lips softly against Matt’s.
“We’ll have a little us someday, just not quite yet.” I tell him.
“You promise?” He asks.
“I swear.”
Imagine: You have a panic attack
Dean Winchester x Sister!Reader
A/N: I wanted to do quite a real experience with having a panic attack and having anxiety on top of that. It’s actually quite difficult to come down from and the anxiety that comes with that doesn’t just go away immediately. Also requests are open! I’m working on a bunch right now and I love all of the ones I’ve been getting.
It was 4am and you woke up in a complete panic. You didn’t know what was happening to you, but you just didn’t feel right. Your heart was pounding and your whole body was trembling. You felt like you were going to die so you jumped out of bed and raced through the halls to Dean’s room. You burst through the door with your shaky hands. As soon as you made your way into the room, Dean jumped awake and reached for his gun.
“De, it’s just me.” You whimpered, turning on the light and walking to his bed. You stumbled over your feet because your whole body felt like jelly and it felt like you had no control over your limbs.
“What’s wrong?” He asked on high alert.
“I feel like I’m going to die.” You cried, feeling absolutely panicked.
“What do you mean?” He asked alarmed, looking you up and down.
“I don’t know!” You cried, reaching out to him completely terrified these were going to be your last moments. He grabbed ahold of you and steadied you as your eyes pleaded for help. “I’m so scared!” You choked out, trying to catch your breath. His expression was soft like he understood what was happening to you.
“Hey, hey, hey, alright, it’s okay, sit down.” He said gently, guiding you to take a seat on his bed.
You sat down still completely trembling with your heart racing through your body. You couldn’t calm yourself down and it was terrifying you. You let out a strangled cry before you burst into tears.
“I’m scared!” You sobbed, covering your face with your shaking hands before Dean grabbed them into his and squatted in front of you.
“Hey kid, you’re having a panic attack alright? It’s okay, you’re okay.” He said, squeezing your hands and trying to ground you.
You sucked in a shaky breath, still trembling under Dean’s touch. “I feel like I’m going to die!” You sobbed once more, staring into Dean’s eyes.
“Hey kiddo you’re not going to die alright? You’re having a panic attack it’s okay, everything’s alright.” He said softly, trying to soothe you. You couldn’t focus on anything other than the sound of your own heart pounding. You were defientely about to have a heart attack and you could feel your whole body giving out.
“I feel like I’m having a heart attack!” You cried, standing up in panic. Dean immediately stood up with you and grabbed your face.
“Hey, look at me, it’s alright!” He said, seeing your eyes filled with complete terror. “You’re not having a heart attack, you’re having a panic attack alright? Your body is in a fight or flight response right now so I need you to calm down for me kid.” He said calmly, trying to get your emotions under control.
“My arms are tingling!” You shrieked, knowing that was another sign of a heart attack. You were burying yourself deeper and deeper into panic.
“You’re okay, it’s from the adrenaline! I need you to sit down for me.” Dean said calmly, guiding you back down to sit on the bed. You sat down still shaking in complete terror.
“You’re alright,” he soothed, “tuck your head in between your knees.” He said as he gently put his hand on the back of your head. You did exactly what he was asking and then he placed his other hand on your back.
“Take a deep breathe for me, in for five.” He said as he tapped one of his fingers on your back and counted to five. “And now out.” He said, this time counting down from five and tapping. “That’s it kid, breathe.” He said softly as you breathed in and out a few more times. Once you got your breathing under control, you could feel your heart rate slow down though it was still rapid. You untucked your head and looked up at Dean and he nodded, “everything’s okay, you’re alright.” You nodded and took another deep breath in and let it out. “That’s it sweetheart.” He said as your eyes searched for his. “I’m right here, I’ve got you, always.”
PARK JIMIN & JUNG HOSEOK
FRI(END) ZONE:
“Jimin come on it’s been like a week”
“What, the group chat has been that boring without me?”
“You’ve been ignoring everyone”
“I’m talking to you now aren’t i?”
Hoseok rolls his eyes at the younger man. Whe he watches from the kitchen doorway as Jimin aggressively scrubs at his counter tops.
“Barely i had to force my way in here”
“Which i can still call the police for by the way” Jimin turns his back on Hoseok to now scrub the counter top closest to his sink.
“You’re upset”
“No i’m not”
“You’re aggressively cleaning right now”
“I am so no-“ Jimin pauses and looks down at the sponge that’s is practically being chocked out by his right hand he loosens his grip, lets out a sigh then lightly continues scrubbing his counter top “I’m normally cleaning, like any normal unupset person would maybe you’re-“
“Jimin”
“Go away”
“You like her”
Jimin sharply inhales.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about”
“It’s okay if you like her you k-“
Jimin quickly turns to face Hoseok “OKAY?!” He throws the wet sponge he had been using to ‘lightly’ clean his countertops in Hoseok’s direction.
“What the fuc-“
“YOU like her, Jungkook likes her, Tae likes her, Jin likes her, Yoongi likes her and fucking Namjoon likes her what part of that is OKAY?!”
“Woah first of all calm down-“
“Me and her are freinds” Jimin’s eyes are stern and his body tense.
Hoseok shoots him a look of confusion “…okay?”
“That’s it”
“Well that’s not it because you like her”
Jimin stares at Hoseok for an awkward amount of time before promptly turning away from him once more.
“You know what i have other things and people to worry about right now”
“What like Taemin?”
“Yeah. like Taemin”
“Taemin is a distraction”
“I-” He pauses “like Taemin”
“Yeah? You can’t even say that shit confidentiality get real Jimin”
“You—”
“He messages you back every other month at most”
“You know nothing”
“I know that he’s a pretty shit distraction and that you feel left out”
“Left out?” Jimin can feel the anger build in him “Stop talking like you know what i’m thinking and feeling because-“
“You feel left out, they argue less about her flirt more openly and comfortably subconsciously they’re forming a dynamic. a dynamic you’re not apart of”
“And you are?”
“Just ‘cuz i don’t flirt like the others do doesn’t mean i’m not apart of anything. i’ve talked to her that’s something you should do too”
“Wait when did you—” Curiosity finally allowing Jimin to face Hoseok again.
“You’re scared of being left behind but actively do nothing to prevent that worry about yourself right now Jimin you feel like you’re running out of time fix that”
“That’s easier said than done you know that”
“Not really the way i see it is that you’ve put yourself in the friendzone no one is holding you back except you Jimin”
“You can’t jus—”
“Anyways i’m gonna go now this was….yeah also please call Namjoon back before he goes insane and tell Jungkook you’re alive so he can stop crying good talk bro”
With that Hoseok turns on his heels and leaves a dumb founded Jimin standing in his kitchen.
“Good..” The front door slams “…talk?”
don’t ask me how i got yellow just know i had to kill some people heart emoji skull emoji praying emoji
Newcomer (Joel Miller x Reader)
Part Two of Whiskey Tears.
Rated: Angst | Violence | Fluff | Suggestive | Age Gap | Mentions of Assault | Language
Summary: You, Joel, and Ellie have been a trio from the start. You were a family, but you find your relationship with Joel withering when he starts to pull away. Now a new comer makes her way into Jackson and into Joel’s heart…
You were the first one up. It has always been that way with your quiet steps and peaceful mornings filled with silence.
Your favorite part of your new home was your kitchen free from broken cabinets and rusted faucets. Curtesy to Joel of course. It wasn’t terribly warn down when we first moved in, some dusty bedding, peeled wallpaper throughout the house, but the kitchen had it worse. You mentioned it once to Joel, wondering how the two of you could bring this kitchen to life. A place where you felt most at peace. You were contempt with what you had of course, working around it as you cooked for your family.
Until one day you walked into your house to find Joel replacing them with ones the he had carved and pieced together himself.
You remember crying and him telling you not to. But how could you not? When the man you hopelessly love does something like that for you?
Joel only knew how to bqq something and Ellie was too impatient to follow directions and so since the beginning you were the designated cook and you were proud of it too.
So to find someone in your kitchen banging your precious cabinets and disrupting the system you had made… Well your ears were practically turn red and you swore if anyone would look close enough there would be steam coming out.
But you were an adult person and an adult handles everything with a sense of calm… Right?
“I’m sorry but what are you doing?” You asked as you stood in front of the island counter to keep yourself from pouncing on her.
Heather turned around with a startled jump, “Oh! Good morning! Don’t mind me, I’m just making breakfast.”
“Breakfast is my thing. Cooking for my family is my thing.” You stated clearly with a sense of calm.
I think Joel would be impressed that I haven’t stabbed this lady yet. I’m being an adult. That’s what he wanted right?
“Well I think I can handle the cooking today. It’s the least I can do.” She stated with an edge to her tone.
Stay calm. Be an adult.
You took in a sharp breath and smile, “Being as you are a guest in my home, the least you can do is take a seat and let me cook in my kitchen.”
You watched the way she dug her nails into her skin before giving you a sharp nod, “Alright. Then cook.”
“Gladly.” You muttered before making yourself at home and cooking Joel and Ellie’s favorites.
Pancakes for Ellie and scrambled eggs with deer bacon for Joel. You didn’t have pigs for regular bacon and so this was the next best thing in the apocalypse, that and Joel’s famous deer jerky.
You easily fell into your routine, humming a tune that you created for Ellie one night when she was scared. You didn’t care how Heather sat at the island and watched you like a hawk. You did what you did best. You provided for your family.
While the last bits of deer bacon was frying, you started on making the coffee before set the table with the plates and food already prepared. You also made sure to add an extra plate even if you didn’t want to.
But you were going to prove to Joel that you were an adult.
The last item left in the kitchen was the deer bacon and as you piled it on a plate you heard Joel’s drawl muttering a good morning and Ellie’s loud yawn in the dining room.
You smiled and filled a mug of coffee for Joel, holding it in one hand while you held the plate of deer bacon in the other.
“You made this?” Joel asked looking at Heather.
“I did! I wasn’t sure what you usually eat for breakfast so I asked your other daughter and she told me pancakes, eggs, and deer bacon is the perfect morning breakfast for everyone.” Heather explained as if it actually happened, she would be convincing to anyone else… Anyone who wasn’t Ellie that is.
Ellie’s brows furrowed as she stared at the table. It was plated exactly how you would plate it for them each morning. It didn’t look new and Ellie knew that…
“She did?” Ellie finally asked skeptically.
“Yep!” Heather smiled without a hint of guilt.
The way that Heather said such a lie with ease made your blood boil as you stepped into the dining room with a glare directed towards the officially unwelcome newcomer.
“Oh! Thank you for being a dear and getting those for me, I couldn’t carry everything here on my own.” A sweet smile was planted on Heather’s face, on that made you scowl.
Who says I have to be calm to be an adult?
You took three steps to the table, standing directly between where she was sitting in your seat once again. You tossed the plate of deer bacon down in front of Joel with a thud before slamming your hand down resonating a loud smack against the wood, coffee mug held tightly in the other hand.
“What the hell.” Joel exasperated at watching you loose your temper.
You didn’t care about Joel’s opinion of you. Not right now and not with this conniving witch in front of you. Your fury was centered around the horrid lies spilling out of the temptress mouth.
“First of all, I am Not his daughter.” I seethed lowly, “Second. You better tell them the truth before I cram these pieces of deer bacon that I cooked not you, down your throat you lying piece of—”
“Enough!” Joel’s voice boomed causing you to steady your hand to keep from spilling his coffee.
Your heater gaze quickly flickered to Joel who seemed angry, but not at the person you thought he would be angry with… No. his anger was directed towards you.
“Who gives a fuck who made breakfast. Will you stop causing a scene so early in the morning and just sit down?” Joel sighed.
His sigh was clearly directed towards you and you were angry that he couldn’t see whatever game Heather was trying to play.
“Are you serious? She is clearly lying to you. How are you not more pissed off about this?” You yelled.
“I don’t know what I did wrong, but I’m sorry if I caused any trouble. If it will make you feel better, I won’t make breakfast again from now on.” Heather’s voice sounded so fragile that you wanted to smother her with a pillow.
“Oh piss off!” You turned towards her, ready to give her a piece of your mind.
“Excuse me? I much older than you—” She began and you cut her off.
“Clearly.” You scoffed.
“Dear I’m just trying to help. Maybe your too young to understand that respecting your elders is important so please— Ouch!” She yelled out in pain.
It all happened so fast. One minute she was talking and the next second you felt a sharp pain in your ankle causing you to spill Joel’s coffee on her arm.
Ellie’s eyes widened, “Shit.”
“Are you kidding me right now!” Joel’s voice boomed as got up from his chair.
“I—” You didn’t know what to say and apparently Joel didn’t want to hear it because he roughly shoved you out of the way to check on Heather.
His shoved made you spill the rest of the coffee over your hands causing you to hiss out in pain.
“Are you okay?” Ellie quickly jumped out of her seat to check on me.
“Yes… Yes. I’m fine. I— I don’t know what happened.” You said quickly as Ellie took the cup from you, “I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“I’m going to go get some ice.” She said as she quickly rushed off into the kitchen.
“Ow! Ow ow ow. It hurts Joel.” Heather had tears in her eyes and he cleaned off her arm with a towel.
“I’m sorry… I really didn’t.” You weren’t even sure why you were apologizing, but you felt that Joel would be even more pissed at you if your didn’t.
“You— I can’t believe you— you reckless over excessive little girl.” Joel seethed at you, “Did you know she was constantly burned by the raiders that held her hostage? No. Of course you fucking didn’t.”
Ellie stepped in at the moment with ice wrapped in a towel. Joel took it out of her hands and motioned to the door.
“Tommy’s waiting for you by the barn to talk you about your new job Ellie.” Joel grunted yet his glare never left your face, “You should go.”
Ellie looked over to you in concern, “But—”
You shook your head, “It’s okay, go. I’m fine. I promise.”
Ellie left soon after and an unnerving silence between you and Joel filled the air. Your hands welre turning red because the ice that you needed was currently being used for Heather’s arm. You felt too ashamed to get another one and too scared to wonder if she had actually kicked you.
You watched Joel, an aching feeling settling in your chest at the way he was attentive to her. The way he held her gently and asked her if her arm was still hurting while you stood behind him cradling your own wounded hands. That made tears draw to your eyes.
“Joel—” You tried to call out to him, but he didn’t want to hear any of it.
“You can’t just throw a fucking tantrum whenever you want… God… I didn’t think you were this much of a brat.” He shook his head.
That left a sharp feeling in your chest as your eyes casted down to the floor in shame.
“Leave.” Joel muttered and when you didn’t move he raised his voice, “Fucking get out of my sight right now!”
That had you running up the stairs and slamming the door to his room. Sobs wracked through your body as you slid to the floor, your blistering hands long forgot as tried to calm yourself down.
“He thinks I did all of this on purpose? How could he believe her over me? …Why won’t he believe me?” You whispered into the silence.
That sinking feeling however didn’t leave your chest. The deep hatred that you felt towards a woman you’ve barely known for two days was beginning to boil and you just knew she was up to something.
You angrily wiped away your tears and changed into some warmer clothes. You didn’t care about the puffiness under your eyes or your red nose, you could blame that on the weather. After you finished getting ready you went downstairs to leave the house and start your day at work.
It was your turn to help string up some lights anyways so that made it easier to get out of the house. You could only hope that things would change before the upcoming holiday, Winter’s Hollow. A day that everyone could celebrate.
“Where you going?” Joel’s asked from behind you.
You ignored him as you slipped in your boots.
“Your hands are red…” He continued and you turned away from him so he couldn’t see them anymore.
He let out a deep sigh, “Firefly please.”
“Don’t call me that.” You finally grumbled, “Not right now.”
“You’re hurt.” He pressed.
You looked up at him with a glare as you slipped on some gloves, “Like you care. You’re the one who did it.”
“I…” He looked directly at you, “Didn’t realize I hurt you.”
His expression was one of worry and guilt. Two emotions that were very rarely shown on Joel’s face in front of anyone except for you, Ellie, or Tommy. You almost crumbled… Almost.
“Joel!” Heather called from the dining room and his head immediately turned towards her direction.
You rolled your eyes and grabbed your jacket remembering why you were leaving in the first place.
“Have fun with your new girl.” You swung the door open and left.
***
“Morning.” Maria waved you over to her.
She stood by a box of lights and a lamp post.
“I was wondering when you’d show up.” She teased and usually she would get a snarky reply and a smile from you, but when you remained quiet she began to worry.
“Hey… Are you okay?” She asked and placed a hand on your arm and when you fully looked at her she knew, “You’re definitely not okay. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You tried to say, but she gave you an unimpressed look.
She raised an eyebrow as she looked at you, “Something is. Your nose is red and you’ve clearly been crying.”
“It’s just the cold, I’m fine.” You tried to explain, but she wasn’t having any of it.
Maria rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, “Like hell you are.”
You sighed, “Joel and I got into an argument.”
“Over what?” Maria asked.
She was concerned of course. In the three months that you and Joel have lived here she has never heard you and Joel argue.
“Heather.” You said her name as if it were poison.
“Oh…” She nodded her head slowly, now beginning to understand the story, “It’s going that bad huh?”
“He’s been taking her side over everything these past two days and he lets her kiss his cheek and I don’t… Fuck I hate it. And she lied this morning about cooking breakfast and I swear she kicked me or something. I didn’t mean to spill coffee on her and Joel got… He got so angry.” Tears welled up in your eyes, “I didn’t mean to make him angry.” You cried.
Maria pulled you into a hug and you clung to her like a lifeline. She was slowly starting to grow on you as these past couple of months passed by.
“I’m sorry, that must be so stressful.” Maria tried her best to calm you down.
“I was so worried about him when he disappeared. I couldn’t even sleep without checking the driveway every hour to see if he was walking up those damn steps and now it hasn’t even been a week and it’s like he replaced me.” You sobbed.
“I didn’t realize they were that close…” Maria’s voice trailed off. She didn’t want to loose you, you were the closest thing to a sister-in-law she’s ever had, “I’ll talk to Tommy. See if there’s a house available that she can live in. Maybe it’s just a savior complex thing and he feels like because he saved her, now he’s indebted to her or something.”
You sniffled into her shoulder, “Thanks.” Your voice was muffled in her jacket, “I don’t want to be that person, but I think she’s a real bitch.”
Maria chuckled, “Seems like Joel is too.”
You pulled away from her hug, “He said it was because of our age… That it wasn’t right to be together.”
“Well that’s bullshit otherwise he wouldn’t have been with you in the first place.” Maria scoffed.
“Do you think there’s more to what he’s telling me?” You wondered and honestly you wouldn’t put it against Joel if he was.
“It’s Joel we’re talking about, of course there is.” Maria shook her head and you watched as she reached down to grab some of the lights, “The Miller brothers are as hard to get close too. I swear there one of those endless jawbreakers.”
“Jawbreakers?” You asked her in confusion.
“It’s like a candy that you have to continuously lick until you reach the center. I’ll find one for you one day.” She said and you couldn’t help, but snicker.
“That’s quite an analogy.” Your snicker grew into a laugh and Maria joined you.
She nudged your arm, “Oh shut up and help this pregnant woman with these lights.”
“Yes ma’am.” You laughed as you reached into the box.
Maria made it easy for you to take your mind off Joel. It was as if she had a secret spell to make you forget your worries. I guess that’s what all good friends do.
“Phew!” Maria wiped her hands in her jeans as you finished hanging up a few more lights, “I think it’s about time for dinner, don’t you think?”
You nodded your head as you stepped down from the ladder, “I’m pretty sure I can eat an entire pot of stew right now.” You said causing Maria to laugh.
“Well as long as you share then I’m cool with that. Lets go.” She said and the two of you made your way to the lodge to grab some lunch.
“You know what I’m really craving?” Maria said as the two of you stepped into the small restaurant bar, “Pickles and ice cream.”
You raised an eyebrow at her in question, “Pickles and ice cream? That sounds…”
“Absolutely amazing I know.” She was practically drooling at the craving, “One day we’ll have ice cream and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.”
“Over here!” You suddenly heard Ellie yell and the two of you turned to find her, Tommy, and Joel already sitting down at a booth.
You were relieved to not see Heather with them. You don’t think you’re ready to see her coming up to Joel right now. The two of you quickly made your way over.
Before you can even say hello Maria smacked Joel on the back of his head.
“Ow…” He grumbled as he rubbed his head, “What was that for?”
“You know what.” She said before taking her designated seat beside her husband.
Tommy gave his wife a confused look to which she said, “I’ll tell you later.”
You then took your designated seat beside Joel, a small smile on your face from Maria’s protective side.
Maria sat by Tommy on one side of the booth with you by Joel with Ellie on his right, closest to the window on the other side of the booth.
“Well it took you girls long enough to get here.” Tommy joked as he wrapped an arm around Maria to warm her up, “We were waiting to surprise you both with dinner.”
“Hey the lights can’t hang themselves.” Maria replied, but fell into his embrace, “But thank you for waiting for us.”
You watched the two with longing wishing that Joel would treat you that way, but all you received was his arm pressing into yours.
“Tell them about the horses Ellie. I swear this girl is going to be a cowgirl one day.” Tommy chuckled.
“You would not believe the day I have had!” Ellie practically shouted as she launched into her story.
You listened, laughing at most parts as her story slowly became over exaggerated, but you loved every second of it.
It was halfway through her story about how she threw herself over a fence when you felt the warmth of his hand slide over yours. Your breath quickened at his touch and the way you were suddenly hyper aware of his breath hot on your ear.
“How is your hand?” He asked barely above a whisper as to not draw attention to the both of you.
“I think I’m safe from amputation.” You jokingly said to slow the way your heart was racing.
He ran his thumb along the back of your hand muttering a, “Hm..”
The moment was nice, something that you have missed deeply from him these past few months.
“Joel…” You spoke his name softly and when his attention was solely on you, you spoke up, “I—”
“Sorry I’m late!” A shrill voice made your entire body cringe.
You didn’t turn to greet her as Maria and Tommy spoke light hello’s and Joel said no worries.
“I didn’t know you were invited.” Ellie stated with that attitude of hers and it made you snort in amusement.
“Joel invited me. To celebrate my first day at work here.” Heather explained with a smile that you knew was directed towards Joel.
“Um… Where can I sit?” She asked and her gaze fell on Joel’s again as if he would immediately get up.
As if you would let him.
You squeezed his hand just as he was about to respond. Maria saw the desperation in your eyes and she quickly spoke up instead.
“You can sit on our side.” Maria said as she nudged Tommy to scoot down the booth before she follow suit.
Heather looked less than pleased at not being able to sit by Joel, but accepted the off nonetheless with a warm smile.
Ellie carried on with her interrupted story with Maria listening intently. Your hand relaxed its grip on Joel’s while his grip in turn tightened around your hand. You knew he felt awful about this morning and he was trying to apologize in his own Joel way.
You leaned into him as your gaze read the menu that sat in front of him. It was a paper with big hand writing that contained half of what a normal menu would with only two meal options for tonight. Rabbit stew or potatoes, beans, and vegetables.
You glanced up at Joel, “What did you order?”
“The potatoes.” He answered.
You could feel Heather’s heated stare on you, but at this moment you didn’t care. You were going to fight for Joel and show her that he’s yours.
A grin pulled at your lips, “Of course you got the potatoes.” You leaned back from the menu and made yourself comfortable into his side, “I’ll get the stew then and we can share.”
His brow furrowed, “Who says I’m sharing my potatoes?”
You scoffed in mock defense, “You always share your food with me. I am irresistible.” You joked.
Joel shook his head as he chuckled deeply in amusement.
“How have you been settling in?” Tommy asked, pulling Heather away from the conversation that only you and Joel were having.
“Quite well actually, this place is lovely. I can see that you all take very good care of it.” She answered.
It was then that Lily walked to the table with three more glasses of water for Maria, Heather, and I. She then pulled a small pad of paper and a pencil out of her pocket.
She pushed her short blonde hair out of her face as she smiled, “What can I get started for you tonight?”
It was potatoes for Joel and Tommy and stew for you, Ellie, Maria, and Heather.
“Coming right up.” Lily smiled before walking away.
“You never guess what happened.” Maria quickly leaned into the table to spill some gossip, gossip that you knew very well and were more than happy to indulge in.
“What?” Ellie asked already intrigued.
“Well.” You started with a low tone to keep anyone outside from snooping in on your conversation.
“Here we go.” Tommy joked with an exagerated sigh.
“Might as well get comfortable.” Joel said to his brother, the two of them holding back their grins.
Tommy and Joel settled back into their seats, letting the girls gossiped while being interested in the gossip as well… Silently of course.
“I heard from Lorraine at the town meeting last week that…” Maria started to which you finished.
“Apparently Lily has been hooking up with the preachers daughter.” You stated matter of fact, remembering the night Maria knocked on your door right after she was told to keep it a secret.
“No!” Ellie gasped, “But isn’t that like blasphemy or something? Hooking up with a preachers kid?” She asked.
You thought for a moment before shrugging, “I don’t see how it could be.” You turned to Joel, “Is it blasphemy?”
“How should I know?” He grumbled back.
“Well…” You motioned your hand towards him, “I figured if anyone would know it would be you.”
He huffed and pinched your side causing you to squeal, “Funny.” He muttered.
“I’ve been around long enough to know that marrying someone who is related to a pastor isn’t blasphemous. I think the only thing that would be a large age gap between two especially when one is so young with their life ahead of them.” Heather mused as she took a sip of her water.
You felt Joel’s hand tense against yours before it slipped away, moving to rest behind on you the booth. This left an aching feeling in your chest that you couldn’t quite shake off especially at how specific Heather’s words were as if she were directly speaking about you and Joel.
You looked directly at Heather, “I think when they are both consenting adults then age shouldn’t matter. Love should.” You stated.
“And that is why you are still too young to understand dear.” She smiled as if she almost felt bad for you.
The booth was quiet for a moment before Maria spoke up to ease the tension.
“All I know is that they may or may not be secretly eloping.” Maria cheered.
“That seems wonderful.” Heather agreed quickly, “I don’t know them very well personally, but I wish them all the best.”
“Aww, I’m really happy for them.” You leaned back in the booth, trying to stay in the conversation and not have your mood ruined, “I can’t wait till my Ellie gets married.” You sighed happily at the thought, “It’ll be such a cute wedding and I hope my daughter-in-law will be as nice as Lily.”
“Excuse me?” Joel raised an eyebrow as he looked down at you, “She is not getting married. Ever.”
“Hey who says that I can’t?” Ellie leaned over to look at the both of you, “Not that to want to or anything, but still.”
“I say you can’t and it don’t matter if ya want to or not. It’s not happening.” Joel said gruffly.
Joel’s dad mode made everyone laugh while the food was being served. The booth once again fell into a calm atmosphere and you felt your body release some tension the moment you got warm food in your belly.
You were eating your soup peaceful. At times you would place rabbit meat on Joel’s plate while stealing a potato as payment. He didn’t seem to mind and the small chatter and clinking silverware against dishes was heard throughout our small group.
This was how it used to be and a sense of calm washed over you…
Until Heather tried to do the unthinkable.
“Can I try yours Joel?” She asked and began to reach over when Joel nodded, but you were not going to allow that.
Only I can eat off of Joel’s plate and of course Ellie too, but not Heather. Especially after what happened this morning. You thought. I haven’t forgiven her and why should I? She hasn’t even tried to apologize to me after lying to everyone.
You blocked her spoon with yours just as she reach Joel’s plate. Sharing food was your thing with Joel and no one else’s.
“No.” You said without a second thought.
“And why can’t I? It’s just food dear.” Heather had a condescending tone to her voice, another thing that you didn’t like.
You glared at her, “You have your own food.”
“And so do you.” She rolled her eyes.
You were about to say something when Joel squeezed your thigh as a warning.
He gave you a stern look, “It’s fine.” He said as he pushed his plate towards Heather.
You could only look up at him in confusion. He never shares his food with anyone. It was only ever you and Ellie.
“It’s just food.” He said as if it was the most simplistic thing in the world as he took his hand from your thigh.
It’s just food. You scoffed softly at his answer as you glared at Heather.
And maybe it was. Maybe you were over exaggerating, but being together on the road for months with barely any food, it was more than just food to you. It was the silent care that was shown between your little family as you shared the small amounts of food you had.
“Wow! This is delicious! I think I like yours better Joel.” Heather complimented.
“You can have more if you’d like.” He responded with a casual smile, one that had Heather glancing at you with a little smirk.
That made you grind your teeth in humiliation and anger.
It’s your food now and then you later. Why can’t you see that Joel?
You glanced down at your soup with a defeated look.
Do you even want to see it?
warnings: fluff. this is a continuation of one of the first stories i wrote, it’s called enchanted to meet you ! i recommend you read it first to fully understand.
Tumblr media
After Jack asked Y/N out for dinner, the two of them became inseparable and started dating soon enough. The fans were ecstatic, having been cheering for them to get together the moment that interview was made.
Now, a year later, they were both flying to Salt Lake for the Sundance Festival, where Y/N would be interviewing and Jack’s new movie Freaky Tales would be screening. They were both excited for it because now they would be there supporting each other as a couple.
“Hi! You seem familiar.” Jack spoke with a teasing smile as he approached his girlfriend for an interview. The feeling of deja vu warmed his heart.
“Hi, Jack. Looking very handsome today.” she smiled tenderly. “Are you going to show me your socks this time?”
“Ugh, stop it.” he laughed as he covered his face in embarrassment.
“So, tell me about Lucid.” Jack started telling the viewers more about his character, and Y/N watched him with a smile on her face. She was so happy to be sharing this with him that she felt like crying, “What’s your favorite thing about the movie?”
“I absolutely love that it is set in the 80s. I actually have been trying to get in the mood during the filming, I made this playlist filled with punk music from that decade.”
“I’ve seen some pictures. The outfits were super cool.” his girlfriend added. “Are we going to see you covered in blood again?”
“Guess you’ll have to see for yourself.” he smirked. Y/N threw him a pleading glance. “You can’t use your girlfriend powers against me. That’s not fair, you know I can’t resist that look.”
“I’m doing it for the people. This was a highly requested question on twitter.” Y/N shrugged.
“Fine, just because it’s you.” he said with a grin. “Yes, I will be covered in blood.”
“Yes!” she exclaimed excitedly.
“What is it with you and blood?” he shook his head laughing.
“I’ll answer that when there’s no camera.” she blushed and he raised and eyebrow in amusement. “Moving on, is there something on your schedule for the next months?”
“Well, the shooting for Avatar 4 starts in a couple of weeks. Other than that, no. Just enjoying my time with my family and my very gorgeous, lovely, and very amazing interviewer, girlfriend.”
Y/N actually giggled, in front of the camera, like a schoolgirl with a crush. He was going to be the death of her. “Well, good for you, Jack. Thank you for your time.”
“For you? I always have time.” he winked. “Text me when you’re done with the interviews, remember you’re also here as my date.”
“How could I forget.” she laughed. “I’ll see you later. I’m proud of you.”
“I’m proud of you, too. I love you.” he wanted to kiss her so bad, but that would definitely be inappropriate so he settled for a tight hug.
“I love you.” she answered right before he left to take pictures.
An hour later, they were finally able to be together again. They were both dragging their feet towards the hotel, absolutely exhausted and drained. Plus, it was so cold that their fingers itched and their toes were practically numb.
“The interview made me a bit emotional.” Y/N spoke. Jack looked at her, urging her to go on. “It made me think of our last interview together, the day we met. I was so nervous that day, and when you appeared it both got worse and better.”
“Why?”
“On one hand, you were so gorgeous that it made me panic. I was scared that my tiny crush would ruin my first interview. And then, you started talking and subtlety guiding me through it… it instantly felt natural. I don’t think I would’ve been as good if I had to interview anyone else.”
“I think you’re wrong. You were just nervous because it was your first, you would’ve figured it out anyways. Yes, we did have an instant connection, but you’re an amazing interviewer. You love your job, you are passionate about it, and that makes people feel comfortable, because you make it like less of a dread.”
Y/N’s sight got blurred by the tears. “Thank you for saying that.”
“I’m just telling the truth, love. I watch every single interview you’ve done, and not once you had made people feel uncomfortable. You’re respectful, sweet and understanding. And you’ve grown so much, I meant it when I said I’m proud of you.”
“I meant it, too. That I’m proud of you and that I love you.”
“I love you, I’ll never get tired of saying it. And I got emotional, too. The deja vu hit me like a truck. I can’t believe it’s been one year. It seems so long ago, but at the same time it feels like time flew by so quickly.”
“Right?!” she exclaimed in agreement. “The interview I was dreading ended up changing my life for the better.”
“You’re so sweet.” he pressed a kiss on the tip of her nose. “I was smitten from the start, literally everyone called me out.”
Y/N laughed. “Maybe I wasn’t as obvious as you, because of the nerves and everything, but I was too. You were so charming.”
“Did I enchant you with my Ghostface socks?”
“Oh, most definitely. That was what made me know you were the one.”
“Am I the one?” he asked, losing the playful tone they had been exchanging.
“I know we’re only nineteen, but I feel like you are it for me.”
The words made his chest clench, in the best way possible. Looking down at her adoringly, he said “You’re it for me, too.”
a/n: i don’t do/write for requests btw, but i take suggestions or take inspo from messages <3 anw dad jake x daughter is all im writing rn (dad sully x daughter!reader, hurt comfort?, tw for reader getting shot, lol i took one line from shakespeare, ended short sorry)
though everything was a blur, all you feel is pressure on the bullet wound on the side of your abdomen. your once-seated heart now feels like it’s knocking against your ribs.
trying to make out the screams of your mother in the background and the shouting from your father.
“neteyam! keep putting pressure on the wound!” jake shouted while he scurried to find a cloth to wrap your wound
you start to feel a soft texture tightly wrapping around your abdomen.
“hey, hey, hey baby, keep your eyes open for me, yeah?” your father’s voice sounds rushed
you let your eyes adjust to make out your father’s concerned face
“dad, i wanna go home,” you stuttered out, trying your best to keep your eyes open
“i know, i know, don’t worry we’re going home, just focus on me alright?” your father says
you did your best trying to keep your eyes on your father while he slowly picks you up from the rocky surface.
“we’re going home, baby,” was the last thing you heard before you passed out in his arms.
faint noises can be heard once you gain consciousness back.
“sis, please wake up” crying can be heard.
“tuk, it’s fine baby, she’s a strong girl,” reassurance can be heard.
“oh great mother, please!” pleading can be heard.
“i’m sorry” apologies can be heard.
it was all too loud for your cloudy head until everything fell silent again. you fell asleep.
you feel something gently caressing your face. it was a hand much bigger than yours that was stroking your cheek. you slowly start to open your eyes to see what it is or who it is. you let your eyes adjust to see your father’s relieved face gazing down at you.
“oh baby girl, you’re awake,” he said quietly with a smile of relief on his face
you tried to sit up too quickly without thinking. still, it just caused you more pain
“easy there, stay down, alright? you’re going to hurt yourself if you move too much,” jake said, grabbing onto your shoulders and slowly guiding your back down on the mat to lay on.
tears start to prickle your eyes
“daddy..” was the only thing you could let out
who would’ve thought that one word was enough to make the Toruk Makto cry?
the vulnerability and condition of you started to form tears in jake’s eyes. he reached his hand out to cup your left cheek and gently caressed it while his other hand held your right hand like you were about to disappear right in front of him if he wasn’t holding onto you.
“don’t worry baby, you’re alright now,” he reassures you with a shaky voice
“i was so scared,” you cried out with tears running down your face
“i know, i know, you’re here now and nothing is ever gonna take you away from me, alright?” he comforts you while he also tries to comfort himself with his own words.
Private School Confession… this might trigger some, might also make you cum…idk .., it’s a long read so buckle up
Tumblr media
The same year that my step-brother did those things to me (see previous post), I went back school and found that my teacher was one of the nuns who had also taught me in elementary school. I was now 14 and in 9th grade. This nun always took an interest in me and I was teachers pet when she taught me as a child. She seemed delighted to have me in her class and commented about what a pretty young lass I was turning out to be. She was Irish, as most of the nuns were at this school.
One day, a boy in my class took me behind a building at recess and tried to French kiss me. I was so nervous, but I let him kiss me on the lips, but he pulled me closer and tried to put his tongue in my mouth and I literally ran away from him with my heart beating a mile a minute. Well, it was all over school in about 20 minutes. I was so embarrassed and one of the boys called me a tease.
The next day at lunch, Sister Margaret called me and asked me to come to her office. I was a straight A student and never got into any trouble, but I knew it was about the incident the day before.
She had me sitting in front of her desk, and she looked at me and asked “Did you kiss that boy yesterday?” My face was burning with shame. Because we were taught that only “bad girls” did things with boys. I looked down and said “Yes, Sr Margaret - but only a little, and then I ran away”. She came and stood in front of me and said “Now you know Maven, that was sinful. You are a good girl, and God wants you to be pure.” I nodded and felt tears welling up. She grabbed my chin and made me look at her and said “Did you let him touch you?” “What? I., um.. no Sister”
“Well, that’s a good lass, but I think we need to make sure the sin is gone from you”. I was petrified because our school still used corporal punishment. I knew I was going to be spanked and that had never happened in all my years going to this school. I couldn’t help crying. I felt so shamed.
“Stand up” she said. I did as I was told. She sat in the chair I had been in. “Now, I’m doing this for your own good, and I want to teach you how to cleanse your soul, so God will love you, and you’ll continue to be a good girl. If you learn your lesson, you’ll continue to be my favorite student and we will forget about this whole incident. Is that understood?” “Yes Sister”.
“Now, be a good girl and bend over my lap.” I thought this was odd because they usually made the boys bend over the desk and used the paddle. But I thought maybe I’m a girl and she will go easy on me. I laid across her lap. She told me to hold on to the chair legs. I did as told.
Next, she lifted up my plaid skirt. I was wearing just white cotton panties. She put her hands on my little ass and asked:
“Maven - did that boy touch you here?” “ No Sister!” “That’s a good girl,” she said, while she was massaging my right buttock. She suddenly spanked me over the panties. It wasn’t very hard, but I felt very strange because her other hand was grasping my thigh, very high up and close to my groin. I felt myself getting hot all over. She spanked me again and this time it was harder. “Maven, did you like it when that boy kissed you? Tell the truth.” I was crying freely now, because the spanking was so degrading, “um..,I…I did, but I was scared because I know it’s sinful to…to..” I stuttered. “It’s sinful to what?” She asked, while she rubbed her hand around on my buttocks. “It’s sinful to be lustful” My voice cracked. I felt so hot and embarrassed, and….my heart was racing. Her other hand suddenly cupped my crotch - I gasped. “Yes Maven - lust is a sin! Did you let him touch you here in your private parts? Don’t lie - God knows if you are lying!”
“No no, he didn’t Sister - I swear!”
I was panicking. She was still cupping my crotch and I knew how warm it felt because my whole body was burning up. She removed her hand from my buttock and began to stroke my hair, and pet my pussy with her other hand. I was breathing so hard, my head felt like it would explode hanging down over her lap. I was getting aroused and I didn’t know what to do.
“Now Maven, why do you feel so warm down here?” She was stroking me through my panties and I could not help it. I was aroused. “I..I don’t know Sister…please..” I felt so humiliated. She moved my panties and touched my little virgin pussy with my peach fuzz pubic hairs barely growing… I was in complete shock. I felt so helpless and I was mortified that she was looking at and touching my private parts! “Maven - I think you have lustful thoughts. And how to we repent from lustful thoughts?” She was actively stroking my clit now and I was getting hotter and wet, and I was paralyzed with fear? Pleasure? She held my prone body with her sturdy arms and I knew better than to squirm. “We confess Sister,” I said through a stream of tears. “Yes my good lass - we confess. Now tell me the truth - does this feel good” “Yes, Sister,” I stuttered with burning shame. “Do you want to be my good girl? And keep being teachers pet?” “Yes…Yes Sister”. I whimpered, as I succumbed to how good it felt to have someone else touch me. “God willing, I will get this lust out of you - and you will be forgiven. Do you understand?” “Yes Sister!” I cried. I didn’t understand, but I was too freaked out to know what was happening. She pulled my panties down and they fell to my ankles, falling onto my saddle Oxford shoes and my lacy socks. She spread my legs wider and continued to rub my clit. “Do you ever touch yourself like this when you’re alone at night Maven?” “Yes,” I sobbed. She spanked me “and do you bring yourself to orgasm?” I nodded, too ashamed to answer and crying uncontrollably. “You know this is a sin! Bad girl!” She spanked me while rubbing my clit faster. I was so wet and I started to moan and buck my hips onto her lap. I couldn’t help it. She felt the wetness and spanked me again. “That’s a good girl. Come on Maven - God is watching. Show him the lustful little whore you really are and he will forgive you.” I was so confused and so aroused l. No one but my mother had ever seen my vagina. Not even during PE class, not even my best friends. But she kept rubbing my little mound and knew exactly what rhythm was making me wet…and I couldn’t believe Sister Margaret was doing this to me. And my God - she was about to make me cum. She put her finger inside my tight little cunt and continued to rub my clit with her thumb - I bucked and moved my hips like a wild animal. I was feral in my need to climax and make her happy. She was really finger fucking me now - and I felt an inevitable orgasm building. “Oh My God!” I exploded on Sister Margaret’s finger and I writhed with waves of pleasure like I’d never had before. It was the most intense orgasm of my young life and I was still a virgin. I was panting and sweating and crying all at the same time. She pulled her finger from my cunt and turned me over. She held me like a child - and then she put her fingers in my mouth with all my wetness on them. She says “Taste your lustful sin! Clean my fingers and cleanse your dirty whore soul in front of me and God!” I sucked on her fingers and tasted my sweet and tart taste. She smiled and said “Now that’s my good lass Maven. You are now purified under God. You are forgiven.” She gave me a hug and patted my pussy which gave me little convulsions of pleasure. I didn’t want to leave her arms. She wasn’t even pretty but I didn’t care. She did something to me that made me want to please her. She stood me up and told me to put my panties on. I was in a daze, and did as I was told. I stood there in my wet sweaty white panties. My mouth tasting of my pussy. “Now go enjoy recess - and I’ll be watching you. If I see or think that you are being lustful, you will come back here and be cleansed whenever I think it’s necessary - do you understand?” “Yes Sister” “And this is private. This is only between you and God - and I am his intermediary - Do you understand?” “Yes Sister” She took my face in her hands and kissed my forehead and said “You were always my favorite lass. I will make sure you continue to be a very good girl!” And then she steered me out of her office.
I still can’t believe this happened to me, But this was the beginning of a four year education for me.
He is literally constantly flirting with you
Doesn’t matter if you’ve been dating 10 days or ten years, he will always flirt with you like you are in a new relationship.
The “honey moon faze” never ends with him
Literally makes it his life goal to get you as flustered as possible. He finds you blushing to be extremely adorable.
Always tries to catch your eyes across a room to give you a teasing wink and smirk. Mostly done in very serious situations where you getting so red and flustered is definitely not appropriate. The little shit
Face squishies constantly, especially when you blush and he thinks you’re cute. (If you don’t know what I mean just look at what he’s doing to the cat in the above picture and just imagine it’s your face instead of the cats lol)
Slaps the booty anytime it’s in range
Even in very publicly inappropriate places. He has no shame
I mean we are talking about the “butt hunter” here. What did you expect?
Takes a ton of pictures of you sleeping
I swear it’s not as weird as it sounds. He just thinks you are so adorable all curled up and innocent like that.
Bonus points if you fell asleep curled up with one of his cats
Loves when you sit on his lap. Sometimes he’ll just pull you down to sit with him when you walk by, insisting whatever you were walking around doing could wait till later. He’s actually secretly just craving your attention and closeness but won’t admit it.
Buys two of the same hoodie when he’s shopping cause he knows you love wearing his but he also doesn’t want to give up his fav hoodies lol
You would totally just steal his anyways because the other one doesn’t smell like him
Secretly loves to do the typical cheesy “coupley” things with you but would never admit it lol. “Omg we have got to do this couples costume it’s so cute!” *pulls face of disgust* “I’d rather die”
he’s literally buying it online as he speaks
Will sometimes buy you random gifts when he’s feeling sentimental
But he’ll just come home,drop it in front of you, and leave without acknowledging that he did something sweet lol
Gets very protective
Not in like a overly possessive way but he definitely does not have a tolerance for people messing with you
He senses you are even a little bit uncomfortable?? Yeah he’s not having it.
Same for just walking in public anywhere with him. If there’s any paparazzi or fan getting a little too close and pushy with you? He will dish out the most intimidating drop dead glare you’ve ever seen while pulling you in closer to him. All while wishing he wasn’t an idol so he could properly put them in their place
To an outsider he may come off as very straightforward and emotionless, but he can turn into the softest boi in an instant. Especially with you
I mean have you seen that scary skz code episode where he’s comforting Felix because he’s scared??🥺
If he senses something the least bit off with you?? Caring soft boyfriend mode activated!
Absolutely hates seeing you upset or crying
“Honey what’s wrong?” “What’s bothering you?” “Are you okay babe?” “What can I do?“ “Who do I have to murder?”
Mockingjay - Part 6
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello world!
So this is the new chapter for Mockingjay :)
Unlike what I said before, the Games are starting in this one, I was a little bit tired of them being in the Capitol and wanted a little more action!
I hope you will like this chapter and enjoy it. Please let me know what you think about it ♥
TW : Fight, weapon, blood, death. It's the Hunger Games, after all.
Also! I made a map that you can find at the end of the chapter, if you want to see what I imagined :)
Please don't make fun of it, it took me one all night to do it.
Chapter before
Tumblr media
Saying goodbye to Lucy last night was something horrible for Ona. She was glad to find no one in the living room when she came back to their quarter. She then took a shower and went to bed. She didn’t realize that she was crying until she heard someone knock on the door.
Ona was scared to see Tony, but it was only Alexia. The blonde hasn’t asked anything, she just asked Ona if she needed her. Ona needed her, but the brunette didn’t know how. Alexia took care of everything though, giving her one of the gummies to help her sleep and cuddling her all night long.
Breakfast and everything else felt really strange this morning. It was strange to realize that it’s their last meal together, the last time Ona smiles at Leila’s jokes or the last time she changes into her bedroom.
Only today she realizes that Jana might have slept in the same bed.
Ona was taken away by two Peacekeepers from her quarter and it’s Alexia from her team who comes with her. For Tony, it was another man of the team, who Ona doesn’t really like. Ona says goodbye to Leila too, hugging her tightly and thanking her for the way she dressed her.
Just before going inside the Arena, her clothes were checked by people probably working for the Capitol. Ona is a little bit out of it to be honest. Those people could do what they want with her, she won’t say anything. But on the other hand, she knows that Alexia is here to keep an eye on her.
“She has the right to have it. The President said it was okay.”
Ona raises her head when she hears Alexia’s voice, just to realize that the woman in front of her was looking at her pendant with suspicion. But the woman finally nods and takes her hands away from Ona.
“I’ll give you time to say goodbye. May the odds be ever in your favor, Ona.”
“Thanks” Ona mumbles back.
She takes a big breath when the door is closed, turning to face Alexia. For the first time since she knows her, Alexia seems a little bit lost in her feelings. Or at least she’s not as good as she was until now to hide it. She looks sad, her eyes a little watery.
“Come here” Alexia says.
Without hesitation, Ona takes two steps to be in the blonde’s arms. It’s sad to say that she had two of her best encounters just before fighting for her life. But at least she was in good company.
“You can do it, Ona” Alexia whispers, still holding Ona in her arms. “You are clever, you are smart, you are strong. Just don’t take unnecessary risks and don’t fight if you don’t need to. Try to survive and don’t forget everything you had learn about survival”
Ona nods in Alexia’s arms and jumps when she hears a robotic voice resound in the room.
“Games start in 2 minutes.”
Alexia let go of Ona, just to gently take her face in her hands.
“I am honored to have been your Mentor”
“Thank you” Ona smiles back this time. “I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I really hope you will be happy for the rest of your life, with Olga too.”
“Thank you. If we have a girl one day, I’ll call her Ona.”
Ona doesn’t know what to answer, so she just takes Alexia in her arms one last time and kisses her cheek.
“Games start in 1 minute. Please go inside the tube.”
“I’m going to miss you” Alexia says, helping Ona to get inside the tube. “Trust your guts, okay?”
Ona nods once more, biting her lips.
“I’m scared” she whispers.
“You would be stupid not to be”
“Games start in 30 seconds.”
Alexia arranges Ona’s hair and outfit, briefly squeezing her in her arms before backing away from the tube. Ona feels like her heart will explode soon.
“Big breaths,” Alexia says softly. “I trust and believe in you. And I’m already proud of you, no matter what. Just like your family and friends.”
“Games start in 15 seconds.”
“Thank you. Thanks for everything. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Then the door of the tube closes itself and Ona feels the ground where she’s standing starting to move. It finally goes up and she looks at Alexia as long as she can. It’s black for some seconds before a bright light dazzles her.
After she blinks her eyes, Ona takes a moment to look around her. There is a red digit count above their heads, counting from 30 to 0. All the tributes are positioned to form a circle, just like the other years. Next to her is Tony, his gaze right in front of him. Ona knows he will try to take supplies or a weapon. She won’t try this, even if it’s tempting.
Ona’s eyes stop a moment on Lucy’s frame, a little more on her left. She never had seen Lucy with a face concentrated like this. Her jaw is tense, just like her body, ready to jump from her platform. She’s not looking at anything but her goal in front of her. Ona turns her gaze, looking for an escape.
She doesn’t know where they are on the map, but she decides to run as fast as possible in the forest behind her. The view seems clear in front of her, meaning she will have trouble hiding. Ona wants to stick with her plan, hiding at day, moving at night.
Reassured by her plan, she stands a little straighter on her platform and gets ready for the ten last seconds before the beginning.
When the shot sounds, it is an incredible cacophony. Screams, shouts and other noises Ona doesn’t know what they are. She hears several shots of cannon too, meaning some of them are already dead. Feeling her heart go down, Ona remembers that it may be Lucy.
But she keeps running, zigzagging through the trees with agility. After some minutes, she’s only able to hear her respiration and she decides to slow down a little. The forest is dark and dense, she’s not used to this kind of environment. Just like they decided with Alexia, Ona looks for a good tree to climb. She finally chooses one oak who has enough branches for her to do that.
She manages to reach the top pretty easily, offering herself a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. There are only trees around her, but it seems to her that she recognizes the shape of buildings in the background. Which would be a first, but at least it’s something she knows.
Ona freezes suddenly when she hears someone running below her. Silently she descends a little bit to try to see who it is. It’s a boy she never had talked to, from the six. He’s pretty young too, but Ona realizes very soon that he’s chased by other people.
He doesn’t stand a chance when they surround him, and Ona closes her eyes just before a new shot of canon. Some minutes later, they are gone.
It’s strange to look at that boy and she’s ashamed of the thought that she still can have a look at what is inside his bag. But he won’t need it now, unlike Ona. She hesitates for several more minutes before going down her tree. She doesn’t look at the bag for now, she just takes it and looks for another tree to climb.
In her quest she goes closer to the city but decides not to go inside for now. It’s still the day and it might have more people coming. Instead, she sits on a branch of the big tree she just climbed.
Then she opens the bags, looking at what is inside. She finds a gourd, rope, metal bowl and small knife. Which is pretty great, to be honest. She wasn’t expecting that much. She won’t be able to defend herself with that knife, but she could cut fruits or small wood pieces if she finds some.
When the night starts to fall, Ona is still sitting on her tree. It’s a little bit boring to be honest, but she doesn’t really have a choice. She hasn’t counted how many shots of cannon were heard, but when the sky is dark, there is this famous music. And then the pictures of the dead people are shown.
She feels sad when she sees that Anna hasn’t made it, her picture white in the dark sky. But Lucy is still alive and that is what matters to Ona. It looks like all the careers tributes are still alive too, just like Tony and Teagan.
Just like she asked herself if she should walk to the city now, Ona hears someone walking near her. She frowns and tries to look without being seen, but she’s just able to see a frame going back to where they started several hours before. Ona decides to use the rope to attach herself to the branch and not fall if it ever falls asleep.
Which seems to be a good idea, because Ona ends up dozing for several hours into the night. She jumps when she wakes up, looking around her just to remember where she is.
Ona waits until dawn to go down from her tree. She even finds a little river to put some water inside her gourd and wash her face and hands. The forest is a little scary in the dark like this to be honest and she’s relieved when she sees the buildings drawn in the sky. It’s something that feels familiar to her. She grew up in this kind of view and it almost feels comforting.
The city looks like an old, abandoned city and she wonders if and how many tributes are hidden in there. For her, it’s the most perfect and secure spot. She feels a little too exposed to her taste, even if the sun isn’t really there for now. The city contains a lot of buildings with at least six floors, what looks like a nuclear factory, some small houses and several warehouses. Everything seems grey and concrete.
Ona chooses a building a little outside the centre that allows her to see the horizon and eventual tributes coming. She doesn’t want to fight, but she knows she will have to at some point.
The door of the building seems heavy to push, and she decides not to enter by it, scared to make too much noise and attract attention on her. Bypassing the building, she eventually found another door and pushes it slowly. The silence is almost overmelting here.
Silently walking through the different floors, Ona finds no one. The building has six floors with two flats on each floor. The last stairs lead to the roof, but Ona decides not to go there for now. She’s certain that no one came here before her. She finds different things, like a lighter (who is working) and a hoodie who feels hotter than the dress provided by the Capitol.
She decides not to wear it inside though, where it’s colder than inside the building. Sighing softly, Ona sits on a mattress on the floor, hugging her knees. She misses Lucy’s warmth. She just misses Lucy. But she’s not sure that the feeling is reciprocating. Ona remembers Lucy's concentrated face perfectly, the way she hasn’t even looked her way.
Sighing softly, Ona presses her forehead against her knees. She doesn’t want to be here, why was she the one chosen for the Games? Why hasn’t she met Lucy somewhere else? Why does Life give her something so strong and beautiful just for some days before taking it back? She wishes that Lucy could hug her right now, she never felt so alone in her life.
Her breath is hot like her tears when she hears a little “bip” coming from somewhere next to her. It makes her jump, and she quickly looks around to try to find it. It’s when she spots it, a little metal box with a parachute. Ona frowns before taking it, she knows what it is. It’s something given by the Sponsors. She forgot that point.
With shaky hands, she opens the box and looks at what’s inside. And she feels her heart jump. It’s dry meat, bread and chocolate, something she can eat later if she wants, but something that will give her the energy she needs. And something that definitely will help her to fight hunger.
There is a little message inside too.
“Keep going, Onita. You are stronger than you think. Love, A.”
She knows it’s Alexia. Smiling softly, she wipes a tear on her cheek and carefully folds the paper in the inside pocket of her bag.  The small paper warms her heart up. She realises at this point that she doesn’t have any weapons and starts to freak out a little bit. She has nothing to fight if someone finds her.
The sun is shining when she realises that she falls asleep again. She needs two seconds to understand what has woken her up and jumps on her feet when she hears several voices coming from inside the building. She’s screwed. She can’t go out of the building because she’s on the last floor and she’s pretty sure that she will die if she tries to go out of the windows.
Ona can’t count how many there are, and she doesn’t recognize any voice until…
“There is another floor.”
It’s Lilith’s voice.
Which means she is here with maybe five other people. Lucy told her that all the career’s districts planned to stick together. She doesn’t stand any chances. Ona is really panicking and looking for a good hiding place. But the rooms are empty, if it is not for a shelf or mattress that is lying on the floor.
Ona finally hides behind the open door and the wall inside what she imagines is the bedroom, putting her hand on her mouth to hide her breathing. She’s so stressed that she’s shaking, and her heart is pounding. She can hear it in her ears.
“I’m going to see the roof” a male voice says.
Ona can hear the footsteps from the boy resonate from the other side of the wall where she is. Another footstep is going in the flat next door, but she can hear someone walking on the same flat that she is.
Ona freezes when she hears the person entering the room. She can’t see who it is. She’s not moving at this point but she’s not breathing either. But she jumps when the person suddenly comes in front of her.
It’s Lucy.
Lucy looks at her right in her eyes, her gaze hard and dark. It makes Ona shivers, Lucy never looked at her like that. Lucy’s eyes were always tender and full of teasing when she looked at her.
But, after several seconds, she slowly raises a finger on her lips to tell Ona not to make any noise. A fraction of seconds later, she’s gone.
“There’s no one here” she says several seconds later, her voice now coming from between the two flats.
She seems irritated, as if someone made her lose her time.
“I was sure I saw someone coming here” another female voice mumbles.
“It’s the last building” Declan points out. “We should go back across the river.”
There is a whisper of general approval and footsteps going down the stairs.
“I hate her” Lucy grumbles. “She’s the first one I’ll kill after we separate from them.”
“Just wait for several hours please” Declan laughs.
Their voices indicate that they are going down too. Ona still hasn’t made any moves, too scared to be spotted by someone else. As their voices are fading away, Ona realises that Lucy just saved her life. Maybe she’s not the only one missing the other, after all?
Tumblr media
Ona waits a long moment before going out of the room. Her hands are still shaking, and she treats herself with a little bit of water. She takes deep big breaths too, closing her eyes several seconds to recompose herself. She probably never has been so scared in her life.
Maybe she will be safer in the woods after all. Golden hour is here when she leaves the building, choosing to pass from inside the city this time. During her time in the building, she realises that she was next to the end of the map, the force fields being sometimes visible, especially when they are showing pictures of dead tributes.
The night is almost here when she’s finally inside the woods again. She took the time to grab some fruits that she identified as goji berries. She started climbing a tree when she heard someone running.
From her point of view, she’s able to see the boy from the 5, chasing Teagan. It makes Ona’s blood boil. She knows it’s the rule of the Games, but Teagan is only twelve and that guy might be seventeen.
Teagan is almost fifty metres ahead of him though, her smaller frame making the run in this dark forest easier. Ona doesn’t hesitate to go down a few metres, positioning herself just at the right place to catch Teagan when he reaches his height. The adrenaline helps her to lift him without problem on the tree where it is.
“Up, up, up!” she whispers-orders him, pushing him to go faster.
Teagan hurries to obey and finally the boy from the 5 passes the tree without seeing them, much to Ona’s relief. The girl sighs of relief, but still makes Teagan go higher on the tree.
When they reach a branch strong enough to support both of their weight, Ona finally makes Teagan sit on it.
“Thank you” Teagan says finally, when he has enough breath to talk again.
“Anytime” Ona answers easily.
She looks at the boy attentively. He has a big wound on his cheek which might be hurtful. But other than that, he seems pretty good.
“Are you okay?” Ona asks anyway.
The boy nods and they exchange some news. They stop talking when they hear the boy from the 5 coming back, apparently looking for Teagan. From that moment they whisper more than talk but Ona manages to learn what happened to Teagan anyway.
He was with the girl from his district when they were attacked by the two tributes from the 5. His teammate made him run and she fought the two others alone. It seems like she killed the girl before being killed herself, at least it’s what Ona and Teagan deduce when they see that both of them are dead.
It makes Teagan sad and Ona comforts him, feeling once again relieved to see that Lucy is still alive. Still like Tony and the other career’s district.
Ona shares a piece of chocolate and some fruits with Teagan, before securing him with her on the branch. They decide to take turns to sleep, Teagan starting because he almost hasn’t slept since the beginning of the Games.
It’s strange for Ona to realise it, but it’s relieving to have someone to look after. Teagan is sweet and she appreciates his company. Her fingers go for Jana’s pendant under her clothes, stroking it softly. Jana was sweet and innocent too. Maybe that’s why she wants to protect Teagan, even if Jana was older than him.
She learned at some point during training that he has a little brother and a little sister.  She can’t imagine his parents’ pain about him being here. Suddenly, Lucy’s point not to have children is a little bit clearer for her. She understands why it might be selfish in her opinion to have children.
Ona then thinks about her parents and her brother, wondering if they are watching the Games or if they are sleeping. She knows there are cameras everywhere on the map, but they can only show one thing at a time.
After the heath from her bedroom in the Capitol and the good meal, she feels cold and a little hungry, even if she ate bread and fruits earlier. But she decides to ignore her angry stomach, to look at the stars over their heads.
They are hidden thanks to the foliage of the tree, but she still can watch it. She remembers the nights when Lucy talks to her about the stars, the constellations and the whispers exchanged between them at this point. Ona could name a lot of constellations now, mentally listing them in her head.
“I miss you… So much.” Ona whispers, hoping that if Lucy survives, she will be able to see that moment.
And, of course, that she understands that those words were for her. Because she misses everything about her, and she misses the possible future they could have had together. But it seems to be really far away now.
Little did she know that Lucy is looking at the same stars, at the same time. Lucy is thinking about the same things, and how much she misses Ona too. But she sadly doesn’t have a choice. It makes her desperate, but she doesn’t have the choice.
When you and the sully family moved to the Metkayina village to seek uturu, Aonung took a liking to you. He would show you the village and take you to hidden places. You two would sneak off from the group to hang out, and talk to each other all night. Slowly but surely you started to open up to Aonung romantically, teasing the idea of being with him, but there was one problem….rather 2. Lo’ak and Neteyam.
You three had a little rendezvous back home, making them believe that you belonged to them. That no one else could have you unless it was them. You realized early on that you made a mistake having sex with both of them, and you wished that your relationship could go back to normal. You felt like you finally found someone who understood you, but you couldn’t entertain it too much without the brothers getting angry, or threatening to tell Aonung.
“You were way to close to him today, y/n…” neteyam snarled, standing against the wall as he watched you take your jewelry off.
“I definitely agree, what the fuck was he doing with his hand on your ass?” Lo’ak asked confused as he untied his hair, shaking it loose. You snapped your neck at lo’ak, shooting him a mean glare.
“His hand was NOT on my ass, skxawng! It was on my back!” You hissed, turning back around to take your necklace off.
“It doesn’t really matter, now does it?” Neteyam asked, crossing his arms eyeing you up and down hungrily.
“No one should be touching you, but us!” He growled kicking off the wall, walking over to you. He stood behind you, holding your waist as he kissed your neck passionately. You melted into his arms as your body started heat up. He pulls away, turning you towards him.
Lo’ak walked up next to him, crossing his arms, as he titled his head at you.
“You wouldn’t want us to tell him what- I’m sorry- I mean WHO you like to do in your free time, would you?” Lo’ak trailed off, pushing your hair back behind your shoulder. Neteyam chuckled at his brothers question before looking at you through his eyebrows, awaiting an answer. The way they towered over you, staring down at you made you nervous, but it also made you hot.
“Listen, I want out of this! We shouldn’t have done that back at home. We cannot entertain this fantasy any longer.” You explained, only making them angrier. Lo’ak let out a dark chuckle, making your eyes widen. He pursed his lips, grabbing your neck and pushing you against the wall. There was nothing but anger behind his eyes, and it scared you. You tapped his arm lightly, essentially tapping out, but he could care less. You looked at neteyam as he watched his brother man handle you.
“Neteyam!! Please!!” You called for him to get his erratic younger brother. He walks over laughing at your absolutely terrified expression.
“Break it off with Aonung, or we’ll break YOU off in front of him…how about that?” Neteyam explained with a sadistic grin plastered across his face, placing his hand on the wall above your head.
“Don’t test us!” lo’ak growled looking you up and down before releasing your neck. They both walked out of your hut swiftly. You fall to the ground, hyperventilating. You had fell for Aonung, but you couldn’t act on it because of a stupid mistake you made back at home. You loved lo’ak and Neteyam, but they were a fantasy; there was no way that all 3 of you could be together.
It was morning when you found yourself in the same place the boys left you. You woke up groggy, with a massive headache from crying yourself to sleep. You sat back against the wall, bringing your knees to your chest thinking about yesterday.
Maybe I should just tell Aonung, and hope to eywa that he still wants me.
What if he doesn’t? What would I do?
All of this because of a simple mistake.
But was it really a mistake?
You loved the boys when you guys weren’t fighting. They were great to be around, caring, loving…protective. The way they handled you with care, and the way they dominated you. It made your heart flutter. You had to make a choice, and fast.
It had been a few hours, and you already took your morning bath, and was back at your hut, getting dressed. You went to put your necklace on when Aonung walked in. Your heart sank to your stomach. You knew you needed to tell him, but you didn’t want it to be now.
“Hey y/n…” he smiled holding you from behind, resting his chin in the crook of your neck. Your heart rate spiked at the reality that Neteyam and Lo’ak could walk in at any moment, as they always did.
“Hey Aonung” you muttered before pulling out of his grasp. You frantically walked over to crack the makeshift door before coming back to where he was.
“Ummm are you ok?” He asked confused as he watched you pace back and forth, fiddling with your fingers.
“Listen, I have something to confess. I have to be quick, before they come.” You finally stopped in-front of him, swaying back and forth. He chuckled nervously, looking around the room.
“Who is “they”?” He asked tilting his head at you in confusion. You sighed before speaking.
“Neteyam and lo’ak, have a thing for me. I want you, but they just won’t leave me alone.” You lied, looking down at your feet. You decide to save yourself the embarrassment of telling Aonung that you had sex with both brothers, at the same time…
Aonung stepped back with wide eyes. His fists balled up, jaw clenched. “Won’t leave you alone? Did they hurt you? I swear I’ll!-“ he was immediately cut off by the door flying opened, revealing your absolute worst nightmare.
“You’ll what? What are you going to do, Aonung?” Neteyam calmy spoke, walking towards him slowly.
“She came with US, She’s leaving with US when it’s time to go!” Lo’ak snarled walking towards you. You back away from him with every step he takes closer to you.
“Stop fucking playing with me!” He shouts before extending his arm to snatch you up. You Yelp from the whiplash before he wraps his hand around you neck.
Aonung tried to get to you but Neteyam pushed him against the wall, pulling his knife to his neck.
“Oh there’s a lot more where that came from. She’s clearly been a bad girl, and we’ve gotta handle that.” Neteyam explained with a sinister grin. He holds the knife closer to Aonung neck, lightly sliding it across his jugular.
“ now Leave…” Neteyam commanded through gritted teeth. Aonungs eyes widened with anger, he stopped struggling, and stood tall.
“If you think for a second that I’m leaving her in here with you two, you’re fucking crazy!” He shouted, eyes flickering between Neteyam and lo’ak. Neteyam chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief.
“Fine, have a seat then.” Neteyam punched Aonung in the face, knocking him out cold. Aonung slumped to the ground, falling back on the wall.
“NO!” You shouted, trying to get over to him, but lo’aks grip on your neck was too tight. Neteyam started tying Aonungs hands and feet together with the rope in the corner of the tent.
“We told you to stop speaking to him, y/n!” lo’ak shouted through gritted teeth, shaking your neck with every word.
“I-I was about to tell him! I swear, please lo’ak!” You pleaded with him as tears started to well in your eyes.
“Don’t fucking lie to me, y/n!” Lo’ak was growing angrier. He pinned you against the wall, squeezing your neck tighter.
“We heard it all, y/n.” Neteyam started, standing to his feet glaring at Aonungs unconscious body.
He turned to you with a devilish smirk.
“We won’t leave you alone, huh? We’ve got a thing for you?” He asked, squinting at you angrily, walking closer to you, slowly.
“No, NO! I-I di-“ you were cut off by lo’ak pushing your head into the wall. You whimper in pain, tears falling from your eyes.
“Nah, you said what you said!” Lo’ak whispered, fangs inches away from you face.
“But I said what I said. Aonung will not want anything to do with you after we’re done.” Neteyam stated, finally making his way next to lo’ak. Neteyam tapped lo’aks arm, signaling him to let go of you.
“Lo’ak, get that water and pour it on aonung.” Neteyam commanded, and lo’ak oblidged.
Neteyam towered over you, looking you up and done with hungry eyes. He placed his hands on the wall behind you, boxing you in.
“You look really pretty today, y/n.” He whispered, chuckling as he licked his fangs.
“You’re crazy.” You whispered as you stood on your toes, almost inches away from his lips.
He smiled, looking at your lips and then back to your eyes.
“I’m crazy about you.” He clenched his jaw, placing his large hand on your breast, sliding it down your torso. Your eyes widened, watching his hand grab your loincloth band, pulling you closer to him.
“This is turning you on, so what does that make you?” He whispered in your ear before kissing your earlobe. You twitch under his warm touch before looking back at lo’ak standing over Aonung. Lo’ak poured the water on him, and Aonung gasped loudly, choking on the water.
“Wake up, fish lips!” Lo’ak shouted, throwing the bucket across the room. Aonung was trying to catch his breath before seeing you pinned against the wall.
“Y/n!” He growled trying to stand, to no avail.
“Untie my NOW, and let her go!” Aonung shouted, struggling to get out of the ropes. Lo’ak bent down to him slowly, watching him with a confused look
“Bro, you’re new…who the fuck are you to tell us what to do with her?” Lo’ak explained, tilting his head at aonung with an angry glare.
Aonung shook his head, letting out an angry chuckle. “you two are crazy!” He shouted, looking between the two brothers.
“Crazy about her…” lo’ak grinned before standing to his feet, walking over to you and Neteyam.
Lo’ak snatched you out of Neteyams grasp, walking you over to the table, pinning you to it.
“G-Get OFF OF MEEEE!” You whine, as lo’ak pinned your arms behind your back. Neteyam walked over to the other side of the table, kneeling infront of your face.
“Be a good girl, ok? You know I can’t control lo’ak when he gets like this.” He said sarcastically looking up at his brother, before they started laughing.
“Neteyam….please.” You whimpered, tears blurring your vision.
“Wait until I tell my father! You two are dead when I get out of these ropes!” Aonung growled, trying his best to stand. Neteyam turned his head to watch aonung.
“Well until then…” he started, standing up caressing the back of your head, glaring at aonung.
“Enjoy the show.” Neteyam laughed turning back to you, untying his loincloth.
“I’ll take it easy on you today, since you’re already crying.” Neteyam smirked down at you before throwing his loincloth to the side.
“See me? I could care fucking less!” Lo’ak growled taking his and your loincloth off with one hand as the other hand held both of your wrists. He held his hard cock, rubbing the tip between your wet folds. Your eyes widened, trying to get out of his grasp once more. He slammed into you with no warning, making you scream out loud. He started thrusting into you slowly, hitting your sweet spot everytime, but you refused to give him the satisfaction of a moan. You bit your lip hard, closing your eyes, as he sped up.
“Ohhh so you don’t wanna make any noise, huh? Who are trying to fool?” Lo’ak chuckled, licking his lips.
“I’m going to FUCKING KILL YOU FREAKS!!” Aonung yelled, struggling more than ever to get to you.
“like I told you, you’re fucking NEW. She acts like this all the time. She’ll warm up in a second.” Lo’ak grunted throwing his head back as he felt you clenching around him. Neteyam laughed before he looked back down at your teary eyes.
“I know you’re mad, but no biting, y/n.” You stared up at him with pursed lips before looking at his throbbing cock, inches away from your face.
“You wanna do it or should I?” He titled his head at you.
“If I do it, you’re not gonna like me very much. I’m giving you a fucking choice.” He explained through gritted teeth. You look back up at him, frowning.
“Do what you gotta do…” you whispered with a sadistic grin. He nodded with purses lips before grabbing your hair in both hands.
“Open your fucking mouth, before I break your jaw.” He growled. You opened your mouth slowly, sticking your tongue out. He tapped the tip on your tongue, before shoving his cock all the way to the back of your throat. Your eyes widened as he started thrusting hard into your mouth. All that could be heard was skin clapping, and muffled screams
“GET THE FUCK OFF OF HER!” Aonungs voice cracked, as his faces balled up with anger.
“Bro SHUT THE FUCK UP, I’m trying to focus on cumming and you’re screaming!” Lo’ak shouted breathlessly as he thrusted into you hard and deep. Lo’ak leaned down to your ear, licking the lobe before speaking.
“I know you can’t talk right now, but you haven’t moaned once, and I know you want to, baby. Don’t hurt my feelings.” He whined in your ear sarcastically before standing back up. He sped up the pace, thrusting up into you sending you over the edge. You let out a long and loud moan, eyes rolling to the back of your head.
Aonung’s eyes widened, as he shook his head in disbelief. “Y/N??? Y/N!!!” He shouted, still sitting on the floor.
“She’s busy right now!” Neteyam grunted, watching you finally give in, going to work on him. His mouth flew open when you swirled your tongue around his tip, looking up at him.
“Such a good girl!” He bit his lip, massaging your head. You take all of him in your mouth, gagging immediately. He slapped his hand on the table, trying to hold himself up from the overwhelming pleasure he was receiving. You looked up at him seductively, bobbing your head on his cock.
“You’re fucking sick, sucking my dick like this in-front of your little boyfriend.” He moaned breathlessly, gripping the table harder as he felt his high coming.
Your eyes rolled back when you felt lo’ak speeding up the pace again. You pushed Neteyams cock out of your mouth, spit dripping down your jaw and chest..
“FUCKKK LO’AK!” You whine , feeling your high approaching quickly.
“What’s wrong baby? Talk to me!” He grunted letting your arms go, and holding your hips tightly. You grab his arm, throwing your head down towards the table.
“You feel sooo good.” You moan drunkenly, feeling the pressure in your stomach building up.
“Y/N??!! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!” Aonung shouted from across the room.
“Oh shittt I’m fucking cumminggg, don’t stop!!!” You screamed, convulsing in lo’aks grasp.
“She’s cumming, bro. That’s what she’s doing!” Lo’ak laughed followed by Neteyam as he jerked his cock to the sweet sounds of your orgasm.
Lo’ak thrusted into you slowly, helping you ride out your high. He pulled you up slowly by your hair, kissing your neck as he glared at aonung.
“Bring her over here.” Neteyam gestured, and lo’ak walked you to the middle of the floor. standing in between both brothers, neteyam picked you up by your thighs, and you instantly wrapped your legs around him. Neteyam kissed you hungrily as lo’ak kissed your back.
“Ok!! I get it!!! Let me go now!” Aonung shouted, wiggling to get out of the ropes.
“No you don’t get it, but you will.” Lo’ak snarled before sticking his cock in you from behind. You pull away from kissing Neteyam, and lean your head on lo’aks chest as he started thrusting into you slowly.
“No fucking fair! You just fucked her!” Neteyam hissed at lo’ak. Lo’ak stared down at you laying on his chest, and then back up at Neteyam with a smirk.
“Who says that we both can’t??” Lo’ak grunted still thrusting into you.
Aonungs eyes widened at his statement. “you two are fucking sick!” He yelled, watching you moan in lo’aks chest.
Neteyam and lo’ak look at each other and laugh at aonung, making him angrier.
“Stand up and try to stop us, if you’re so mad” neteyam commanded, as lo’ak pulled out of you, lining his cock up with your ass.
He tried his best to stand, but stumbled back to the ground, making Neteyam laugh. “That’s what the fuck I thought.” Neteyam rolled his eyes, focusing on you again.
“We’re gonna do something alittle different, ok baby?” Neteyam whispered in your ear, and you nodded deliriously, still laying against lo’ak.
“Same time!” neteyam asked as he lined his cock up with your cunt.
“You know it,bro.” Lo’ak answered, and before you knew it, you were being stuffed both ways.
“FUCK!” You shouted sharply, sitting up as you grabbed lo’aks arm tightly.
“I know I know, it’ll feel good in a minute.” Lo’ak whispered, thrusting into you slowly, trying to let you adjust.
“We’ve got you don’t worry.” Neteyam whispered, kissing your lips passionately as he thrusted slowly into you. Lo’ak kissed your neck and back. Their warm bodies wrapped around you made the pain slowly subside.
“Ohhhh shit.” You whined, gripping neteyams shoulders tightly, hiding your face in the crook of his neck.
“Y/N, ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? ALL THE TIME THAT WE SPENT TOGETHER, DID THAT MEAN NOTHING TO YOU?” He cried, watching you melt in the boys arms.
All you could do was moan in response, the pleasure was too much for you to talk.
“I don’t think she’s listening,bro!” Lo’ak panted as he felt his high coming, he bit his lip throwing his head back.
For a moment, the boys thrusted into you in unison, making your jaw drop as your moans got stuck in your throat.
“I want you to remember this, the next time you try and talk to her Aonung.” Neteyam laughed watching you reach your absolute peek. You gasped loudly, whining in their arms.
“I caaaannnttt!!” You yell, feeling them hit both spots at the same time. Neteyam and lo’ak felt their highs approaching, all 3 of your moans filling the room.
“Yes you can baby, let go!” Lo’ak moaned, kissing your neck, before nibbling at it.
“Go ahead baby, we’re right behind you.” Neteyam moaned as his face contorted in pleasure.
“Y/N!!!, YOU BETTER NO-“ Aonung was cut off by you screaming to the top of your lungs in pleasure.
“YES YES YESSSS!!!!” You shouted, shaking violently with your eyes shut tightly.
“Mmmm FUCK!” Neteyam shouted, shooting his load inside you.
“OH SHITTT” lo’aks eyes rolled back as he let loose inside of you next.
You twitched in there arms, laying your head back on lo’ak, as all of you panted.
Aonung’s jaw was on the ground at what he just witnessed. His eyes were wide, tears threatening to leave his eyes. He slowly picked his jaw up off of the floor, before speaking.
“Get me out of these ropes, RIGHT NOW!” He was shaking from anger, almost foaming at the mouth.
Neteyam and lo’ak both pulled out of you, putting you on your feet, but you immediately fell to the ground.
“Oh shit, you ok baby?” Lo’ak asked, bending down to your almost unconscious body. You shoot him a thumbs up before slamming your your hand back down on the ground. He tapped your stomach, smirking at you before standing up next to Neteyam. They both stared at aonung with with devilish smiles.
“I’m going to kill you both.” Aonung says through gritted teeth. They both laugh, watching aonung try to get up for the 100th time. Neteyam walked closer to aonung, squatting down to his level. He smirked, before speaking:
“You still want her?”
Flash dealing with a feral child (Adult)
Flash, known as one of the fastest men alive, was stopping to check out a known hangout spot for rouges in Central City when he got a notification from the JL about dead bodies of drug dealers, kidnappers, etc, showing up in abandoned warehouses in Gotham and other cities around the world.
He may not be the brightest, but he was still the first one to notice that most of his rouges, at least not the money hungry ones, seemed to only come out in the daylight to do only minimal damage and stealing. Which was strange in of itself.
He was also one of the first ones to notice, besides Batman and Green Arrow, that most of the rouges whisper about a Dream demon or some kind of demon that eats villians’ heads and leave their bodies for the police to pick up.
Tonight, one of many nights, he was eavesdropping on some rouges when he noticed that was rocking back and forth, muttering that he somehow fucked up on a heist and a kid accidentally got hurt.
Some of them were trying to comfort the terrified rouge, but others were too busy looking around with guns and other weapons in hand.
Flash, who was known by his rouges as caring and willing to help those that wanted/needed the help, tried to slowly walk in, but due to his powers it ended up just scaring his rouges instead.
“FUCK FLASH!” “Don’t do that!” “You got to help!” “Please don’t let me die!” All of them cry, each in different levels of fright, with one rushing over to him and grabbing onto his suit, begging for his life. “I did’t mean to! She was just there!”
Cue a very confused Flash, who can only sit down and have his rouges explain what the actual hell was happening. Which included learning about the spread of drugs and trafficking of women and children around the world, but mostly focusing in the U.S in major cities, and the meeting of a black slime thing eating a corrupt cop (who was supposedly abusing his family)
The hours pass without an incident, and as the daylight start to dawn, Flash goes out of his way to rush all the rouges into a safe place. Including the one that accidentally hurt a little girl, which in reality she only got scared by his enterance and wasn’t actually hurt.
Flash then goes back to the warehouse and notices that a man was standing in front of a young teenager, or a child (all he knew that the young thing was small and looked very young), and pointing a gun to their forehead and had a black slimy thing in his other hand.
Flash panics for a brief moment before rushing in, not noticing that the slimy thing was opening its mouth to bite the man at the same time.
Time slows down as he grabs the gun and man’s hand to point it away from the kid, but he then notices that the slimy thing has opened its mouth, full of pointing and knife-like teeth, and bit down on the man’s hand (right next to Flash’s fingers).
The man screams in pain as blood squirts out of the deep bite mark and the gun goes off in another direction. Which causes both the man and Flash to let go, the gun to drop, the slimy thing drops and goes back into the child, and the child bites the man’s left leg.
Cue Flash and the man panicking and jumping away from the child thing, which causes it to melt into a huge black, and purple, monster with dark purple tentacles, and pure white ‘eyes’, with a ‘mouth’ full of sharp teeth (like Canies or knives).
The man gets hit in the head with one of the tentacles and gets knocked unconscious. Flash gets one smacked into his stomach and he smashes into one of the walls.
The creature makes a weird distress child noise as Flash tries to recover, holding onto his stomach area and taking a few deep breaths.
”I’m good, I’m good. Just wasn’t expecting for the power behind your punches, or well slaps.” He jokes as he flops to the ground and rubs his back with one hand, glad that he his super speed allows him to heal quicker.
”Forgive us, we were trying to get a quick meal, but his face reminded us of someone else. It will not happen again.” The thing ‘says’ as it stands up and seems to stretches itself out, like it wasn’t seconds away from dying.
Flash can only wave the thing off, trying to determine if this thing was the “Dream demon” that his rouges were terrified of, which he doesn’t blame them now, and if the man was supposed to be it’s next meal.
”Well, all’s well that ends well. Just please don’t put yourself in these type of situations again, please?” He asks, begs, because he still is very confused on if the thing is a child in a monster’s body or an adult, or what.
”We can not keep that, as we need to eat. However, we will make sure to devour our meal and not play with it.” The thing ‘promises’?, and Flash tries to laugh it off, but the thing doesn’t laugh with him…
”Right, well. I’ll be taking this man to prison and then come back to get you.”
”No, we will go get a new meal. Thank you for teaching us that we should not play with our food.” The thing thanks him, which he doesn’t know to accept or not, before it CLIMBS out of the building, scaling the walls up to the skylight with it claws and tentacles and disappears into the night.
”Hey Flash to JL, we have a feral child on the loose, and it likes to eat humans. Please be advised that I accidentally gave it advice and now I’m not too sure where it went. Please don’t kill me, I thought it was just a kid.”
Cue the Flash experiencing the strangest police interview ever, and JL interview as well. Including being pulled to the side by Batman and getting the rundown on what he knows.
↻ ◁ || ▷ : Two things: my insistence on using Loona members means there is a character named Hyunjin in a skz fic who isn't skz Hyunjin. I was going to change it but I feel like it's not that hard. She's a girl, she's not Hwang Hyunjin, it's that simple Also, this is a fic that references a real place with a real culture and real people. NOTHING I write in this fic reflects how I feel about the people who live in Jeju or how Jeju actually is. It is COMPLETELY fictional and had nothing to do with anything I've witnessed about Jeju. (and yeah I changed up the little banner, I liked the idea of a little moodboard.)
Winter 2025
“To the bride!”
To say the group sat in front of Jisung were rowdy would be an understatement. They shout and laugh, effusing over the lucky couple’s merriment. Your husband looks to you, drowning in layers of white fabric, and raises his glass. The group doesn’t even try to be contained to their booth, spilling out of their seats onto the floor only to pile back up into the booth again. A waitress comes over and stammers a request for you guys to pipe down. None of you listen, in fact, you look over at the waitress with a twinkle in your eye as you gather her hands to her confusion.
“I’m a married woman now.” You say dreamily. As the cheering from your crowd gets louder, the waitress retracts her hands and retreats through an “Employees Only” door. Jisung clenches his glass, his eyes dead set on your figure. What he did to Jiwoo was for her sake, but it was also for you. Yet here you are. You’d rather traumatize yet another sad sap than just wait for him. Jisung is flogged with bitterness against his better judgment. He should know better than to accept this as reality, but his heart won’t listen to his head.
“We’re going to have to ask you all to leave.” A man speaks to Jisung’s right. He keeps his eyes on you.
“Seriously?! It’s my wedding day!” You cry out, hoping the manager or whoever will understand how much heartbreak he’s causing you.
“You guys are disrupting the other patrons. If you don’t leave, I’ll have to call the police.” The man remains calm, even offering these punks courtesy by lowering his voice. Jisung’s eyelids twitch, his eyes burning with his insistence to keep them on you.
“Sir, have you never had fun? Let loose? Sometimes rules are stifling, you know. Maybe you just haven’t met the right people to–”
The glass he’s been clenching is launched to the ground before the motion is even registered in his mind. Red drains from his vision as in one swing, all his frustration is emptied. He assumes everyone is looking at him, but he only sees you. Or… not you.
The woman looks shocked, a little scared. Suddenly not so enthused about her rowdy marriage celebration. Jisung is finally unclenched from his fixation, looking around the room at the confused and shocked faces. His hand dives into his pockets, pulling a couple withered bills coated in something. He drops them on the table haphazardly, rushing from his table and out of the door.
He slides in his car and slams the door shut. Heaving, he settles back into his chair. He knew that wasn’t you. He does this every fucking time. He swallows hard, his hands clumsily jam the key into the ignition.
He pulls into the complex’s parking lot and opens the sun visor. His key ring drops into his lap but his attention lingers on his reflection and what the couple and their group must’ve seen. His patchy facial hair, the turbulent mop on his head, eyes red with irritation surrounded by dark circles. Not much has changed, he thinks, despite a year passing.
Spring 2024
“What was the occasion?” The consignment shop owner asks absentmindedly, glancing at Jisung after he doesn’t get an answer. Jisung gapes at him, brushing his sweaty palms off on his pants.
“A lot of men sell their suits after their weddings,” he starts again, rubbing the material of the suit between his fingers, “women are a little more sentimental about this stuff–”
“How much? Um, h-how much for it?” Jisung interrupts the owner’s chuckling. The owner looks up again, this time he seems to take in Jisung’s disheveled appearance and his agitated state. He doesn’t comment on the obvious, just offers Jisung a tight smile.
“This was tailored to you, correct?”
Jisung exhales tightly, rubbing his forehead. He didn’t even think about that. “Yeah, but–”
“Then I’m sorry, it’ll slice the price down.”
Jisung lets out a heavy sigh, the stress making him want to lay on the floor and yell.
“I think… maybe around one thousand.”
“One thousand?” Jisung’s mood immediately flips. Both men look at each other, puzzled.
“This is designer, right? Cucinelli?” The owner asks like he’s confused why he even has to.
“I-I don’t…” He didn’t buy it. His father in law did. “I’ll take it.”
The owner beams, looking happy to have such a nice piece for sale. “Would you like it in cash?”
0:00 ───|────── 0:00
He counts the cash as he thinks over his plan once more. He has more than enough for the ticket. When he gets there… maybe he’ll stay at a motel? Is it a walkable city? He can hear Jiwoo now, scolding him for not planning this out. He could have gone about this all in a different way. It doesn’t matter. And Jiwoo… she’ll be hurt now, but she’ll be better off this way. And he’ll figure it out. He has to.
“Next!”
Jisung’s eyes dart up to the person behind the desk before gathering his cash. “Yes um, one way to… Jeju?”
“Sir. The next train from here to Jeju doesn’t come until tomorrow.” She responds in vexed monotone. The look on the employee’s face expresses exactly what Jisung is thinking. But wondering why he didn’t look this up beforehand won’t change the fact that he still has to wait.
“O-of course! I’ll um…” Jisung gives up on trying to look less stupid and skitters away. As he shuts the door to his motel room behind him, a strong fear that he’ll be staying there forever crops up. He shakes it away for now. He can’t think that way for the sake of his sanity.
The next morning he comes back to the train station with his tail tucked between his legs.
“The next train will come at noon.” This employee was much more chipper as she delivered bad news. Jisung sighs, having gotten up at 6 am for no reason. It’s not like he was sleeping much anyway. He can brazenly blame his lack of sleep for his lack of preparation yet again, but the twisting in his stomach didn’t lie. He sits on the many wooden benches that resembled pews in the waiting area. Even sitting on them was eerily familiar. His body curves over, making it harder for his older self like always with the way he contorts his spine. Before he can examine his watch, he catches a glimpse of his warped appearance around the metal frame. It holds him, the warping doing nothing to hide how tired he looked. He’ll have to shave soon. Does he have a razor?
He’s ruining his life.
The thought booms, shaking him. Jisung bites down hard on his lip. No matter how much he tries to distract himself, the feeling won’t go away.
“Train to Daegu?” A worker taps Jisung’s shoulder and jolts him awake. Jisung makes groggy noises, frazzled as he glances around before shaking his head. “If you’re taking the train to Daegu, start heading to track seven now!” The worker yells as he walks past the benches. Jisung hadn’t even noticed himself go to sleep.
He glances at his watch again. 10:35. Great. He readjusts against the solid wood before crossing his arms.
“Train to Jeju?” The worker jolts Jisung awake once again. Once he gains his barings, he hurriedly gathers his duffle bag full of haphazardly purchased clothing. “Head to track 8, sir.” The worker nods at him before continuing down the walkway.
As Jisung ventures between the trains he keeps seeing Jiwoo’s face. One of the train’s horns blows, making him jump. Even as he boards the train and makes his way to his seat, he sees that face she made when he looked back. The sheer horror and disbelief. He clenches his fists against his legs. No. It’s what needed to happen. Getting married would have been no better. His lengthy sigh is only a facade of relaxation. He shuts his eyes and leans back.
Winter 2025
Being in a fresh place with fresh faces, it would be better for you. That was the plan, at least. This house is perfect. The architecture is gorgeous, everything you dreamed about. That didn’t change the fact that it was a reminder. Nothing about the soothing sound of the waves crashing against the shore eased the sting. You explain all of this to your psychologist.
“That makes sense to me. Of course you’d still feel that way.” says Dr. Ha Sooyoung, who was surprised but intrigued to hear you weren’t married or engaged. Usually people who live there either immediately settle down or hightail it out of there according to her. Her telling you this worried you, you wondered if she was unequipped to handle such a trainwreck. You were hilariously wrong. “Who should we start with today?” She looks up at you, smiling to prompt you to answer. You still hesitate, knowing she doesn’t frame it this way to embarrass you. It still does.
“J-Jisung.” You want to disappear as soon as his name leaves your mouth. You bite your lip to keep it from quivering.
“Okay.” There is no hint of a foul disposition in her voice. She smiles pleasantly. “I noticed we don’t talk about Minho as much.”
You shake off your self-pity and nod. “I feel better about him, I think.”
“I think that was thanks to you. Your last words to him were very thoughtful and mature.” She gives you props, seeming genuinely impressed. You nod more emphatically.
“I find that I mostly want to know if he’s doing alright. I know he’s out now, but I try not to overstep. I just… I really hope he isn’t blaming himself.” You undercut your worry with a dry laugh. You wince, wondering why you feel like you have to filter your emotions around her after all this time.
“From what I understand, Minho really cares about you. I don’t think it’s just contained to romance or labels. He saw you, a person, at your absolute lowest and didn’t like what he saw. You said that when you brought it up he didn’t like it, right?” You confirm, letting Sooyoung take you for a ride through her thought process. It used to make you nervous, always thinking she was going to call you a piece of shit. At least you know better now.
“I bet it’s because it was a hard thing for him to see and think about. But I can guarantee you coming into that visitation area and calmly letting him go helped immensely. He doesn’t have to worry if you’re okay anymore. I think it’s time you stop worrying as well.”
You settle into the plush armchair across from her, feeling wrapped in a blanket of serenity. You smile at Sooyoung, the blanket slipping once you remember something.
“Sooyoung, will you be honest with me?”
“Always. What is it?”
“If I go back to Jisung… would that be cruel to Minho?” You almost don’t want to look at her, but you do. You can tell by the look on her face that she isn’t going to sugar coat it.
“I’ll ask you a question. How would you describe the state of you and Minho’s relationship?”
You laugh unintentionally, catching yourself shortly after and covering your mouth. “I’d say that’s long over.” You express after calming.
“Well, it has been about two years so I think that’s a natural take away. I’d say you two are at the position where maybe each other’s decisions shouldn’t bother the other too much.”
You decide to sleep on that. The nightmare you have that night makes you think sleeping on it might’ve been a bad idea. Once you finally rip yourself from your unconscious you whip out your phone. You instinctively text her at this point, letting her know that at least this time you did manage to fall asleep.
Ha Sooyoung: That’s great to hear. Try to get some more rest, watch something that’ll make you feel better. Text me in the morning.
You’ve deduced that that’s her nice way of telling you to stop texting her at 2 am. You imagine that it’s times like this people would recommend a diary. You throw on a kdrama, yet another decision that ends up screwing you. The kdrama you chose was one about a wife who takes her husband for granted and ends up regretting it upon hearing about her declining health. Your brain rewards you with a hazy dream where you’re bedridden and completely paralyzed. Watching everyone in your life slip away. You force yourself awake once more and decide to start your day at 7 am.
Waking up early was never your thing. You have passed on many employment opportunities based on how early they wake you. So in theory you’d be pissed you were pulling yourself from the comfort of your bed to make breakfast. But Sooyoung has taught you the importance of positive thinking. You used to think that was bullshit that people who didn’t have problems claimed was life changing. You have noticed a difference, though.
Even when a couple pieces of eggshell fall into the pan and you burn yourself trying to get it, it doesn’t get to you. You smile to yourself once you notice. You take time with your breakfast bagel, savoring it. You grimace once you find the shells, but it doesn’t make the sandwich taste worse. You sigh, enjoying the brief serenity despite knowing it was going to expire. The nightmares still haunt you. It’s as if your brain doesn’t realize they’re not real yet. You sit with them like Sooyoung would want you to. Is this your mind expressing that you’re regretful? Obviously you are, there’s nothing more you can do now. You’ve spoken to Minho and Jiwoo and said your piece. You were a little unstable when Jiwoo contacted you, but what you said was true. Dwelling on it is only going to make it worse.
You’re already alone, anyway.
The final piece that you swallow is far too big. It climbs slowly down your throat, hurting the entire way down. You beat at your chest as if it’ll help, clenching your face hard.
Just a minor setback, you think as you pick out your outfit for work. You found a stunning boutique in Jeju-si at the end of last year. You originally planned to go there to shop but saw they were hiring. They don’t give you a dress code, so you grab your favorite shirt. It defaulted to your favorite after you sold most of your clothing for extra cash. It’s a baby blue cashmere sweater. The beaded neckline and buttons on each sleeve were aesthetically pleasing, but the thickness and quality fabric made it ideal for the cold weather. You immediately feel soothed as you smooth your hands down the soft fabric.
As you stride down the sidewalk, you can’t help feeling extra cozy in your coat and scarf. You enter the boutique with a genuine smile. The usual patrons were young couples, old couples, and half of a couple looking for a gift. This would be the first time since working here that you saw a group of women your age. They looked like they shopped here, in fact you think you recognize a couple of them. Their vibe screamed polished but ultra-feminine. As they coast from rack to rack you become a fly on the wall. You listen as close as you can, spectating their movements and chatter. For a moment you imagine yourself with them, laughing derisively at the thought.
When they finish they make their way to the front. You notice one of the women staring at your shirt. Suddenly self-conscious, you tug and pull at it as if your actions will make it imperceptible.
“Your shirt…” The woman speaks, slightly taller than the others. After she gets her fill she switches her attention to your face, priming a question. You swallow hard, wishing you could teleport out of there.
“Where did you get it? It’s gorgeous!” The women around her make comments and noises in agreement. Suddenly shifting back to your previous content, you smile wide.
“I–! Um… I believe it was Khaite?” Again you’re met with rousing praise.
“How beautiful! I don’t mean to be weird, but can I feel? I heard Khaite is popular for their cashmeres.” The woman speaks again, one of her friends seconding the request. You shrug as if you’re not absolutely loving the attention. You extend both arms and the woman reaches out before retracting her hand. She looks at you apologetically.
“I feel like I should introduce myself first. I’m Hyunjin,” she starts before pointing to each person around her, “this is Kahei, Gowon, Jinsoul, and Yerim.” They greet you as each of their names are called. You greet them back, offering your name despite not being prompted to. You feel desperate suddenly, like you’re being met with a prime opportunity. Hyunjin returns to your sweater, brushing her fingers against the fabric. Gowon joins in, both of them remarking on the quality in shock. You can’t help beaming. How could you when the only consistent interactions you have are ones you pay for or are being paid for. Also, you feel like you’re finally hitting it off with everyone who hated you in high school.
The girls brief you that– as long as you’re okay with it– they like to have their first meeting with a new friend at said friend’s place. You agree, making a mental note to storm through your house like the Tasmanian devil to get it spotless. You throw on the outfit you hurriedly picked out at your store before looking in your mirror. The dress itself is lovely, of course, but looking at it on you makes you sick. Looking at yourself at all in the mirror does. All you see is every moment of preparation to inflict pain on someone who did nothing but love you. You shake the thought away, ears perking up at the sound of knocking on the door.
You take a few deep breaths, hoping it will offset the nausea. You plaster on a brave face as you open the door. The girls greet you excitedly before admiring your home. Gowon especially, who enters the home a lot more enthusiastically than the others. In a feat you thought impossible, Gowon’s eyes get larger.
“I can’t believe it! This is the house! Me and my husband were just looking at this before it was sold. What are the odds?”
“Really?” You remark, matching her disbelief. “That’s crazy. Shocking odds, I’m sure.” You and her laugh. Each girl twirls around to get a good look at the house and your pride hides a deeper emotion that you push down.
“Oh! Please, have a seat! Make yourselves at home.” You urge as you guide them to your living room.
“Don’t mind if I do.” Gowon wiggles her eyebrows at you, hinting at something else. You stare at her for a moment as it hits you. You’re not sure what you’re escaping from quite yet, but your mind shouts desperately that this is your way out.
As the women settle in you notice something. “Where are my manners? I didn’t even check if you guys were hungry. I’m not much of a cook but we could order something.” You say frantically as you wipe your sweaty palms off on your dress. The girls look at each other, some announcing that they’re not hungry and others that they could eat.
“Anything you guys have in mind?” You ask as you take out your phone.
“Hmmm, I’ve been craving Chinese.” Jinsoul offers. Your thumbs freeze over your phone. The other girls agree, even the ones who said they weren’t hungry. So you place everyone’s order including yours. The one that you had offhandedly mentioned to Jisung. The one that he had ready for you before you ran out. Once the food is delivered and is set out on your dining room table it really sets in. You know what Sooyoung told you, but that doesn’t make you feel any better at this moment. You can’t look back at that memory. Especially not with the regret you’re feeling.
“So anyway, tell us about yourself.” Kahei diverges from the conversation topic you weren’t paying attention to. The girls turn their attention accordingly, tuning in to the grand story they seem to be expecting.
“Yeah… tell us why you look like you’re always whimsically reminiscing about your husband who’s lost at sea.” Hyunjin raises her eyebrows like she knows you know exactly what she’s talking about. You choke out a squawk of a laugh in shock.
“Wh… what?!” You shout with a tinge of fear. You subconsciously cross your arms over your chest to prevent from telling on yourself anymore. The girls break up about the entire display, falling over the counter. You can’t help but genuinely laugh yourself, and you actually know why it’s funny.
“No um,” you gather yourself, eyebrows tightening at the fact that you’re going to admit any part of this, “I just… I’ve been eyeing this house for a while. Alone.” You bail out despite tacking that on at the end and making yourself suspicious.
“So no husband lost at sea.” Hyunjin playfully confirms while pointing at you with narrowed eyes.
“No.” You quickly reply. You laugh nervously amongst the sea of genuine giggles, eyeing everyone to monitor what else you might’ve let on.
“On saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake–” Heejin freezes when someone knocks on the door. She looks at Mihee excitedly, causing Mihee to gasp. “I wonder who that is!”
Heejin grunts as she raises Mihee off her lap and sets her on the ground. She hurries to the door, opening it to confirm that both of her suspicions are correct. There he is, his hands too full to turn the doorknob.
“Ji-Ji!!” Mihee exclaims as she runs to him. Jisung laughs awkwardly as she hugs his waist.
“Hello.”
Heejin rolls her eyes at the awkward display before prying Mihee off him. “Alright, go sit back down and wait for mommy.”
“Did you bring ice cream?” Mihee asks, already whining.
“Hey! What did I tell you about asking him for things when I already said no?” Heejin maintains her firmness despite her daughter’s pouting. “Go sit by the couch, come on.”
Jisung watches in awe as Heejin guides her daughter back to the floor by the couch. She never seems too harsh or too soft when it comes to Mihee. It’s like she always knows exactly what to say and what to do. He imagines Jiwoo would be the same as a mother. Maybe parenting that good comes with being a good person.
He sets the groceries on the counter, releasing his grasp on them slowly as something distracts him. He moves to the stove, shocked by how shiny it looks suddenly.
“I cleaned it.” Heejin says from right behind him. He jolts and turns to face her. His shock morphs to slight disappointment.
“I told you I’d handle that when I got home.”
“And I told you you didn’t have to. Wasn’t cleaning the rest of the house enough?” She asks rhetorically as she starts putting away the groceries. He just closes his mouth, knowing he’s not going to stop her. If it was up to him, she wouldn’t have to worry about anything but taking care of her daughter. It’s the least he could do.
Summer 2024
If he just focuses on one task it’ll be less overwhelming. He needs a new ID. For a new ID, he needs proof of address. For proof of address, he needs to find a place to live instead of couchsurfing. To find a place to live to acquire important documents, the landlords require said documents. He clenches his steering wheel, waiting for a hit. He stares at the app as if one will come faster.
A knock on his window scares him. He looks at the owner of the restaurant who’s parking lot he’s in.
“I told you you can’t sleep here!”
Exasperated, Jisung rolls down his window. “I’m not! I’m just–”
“Get out of here before I call the police!”
Jisung grits at the owner as they walk away before starting his engine. Maybe driving around will help him find someone. Surely enough, the rideshare app rings out. He hurriedly accepts the request, stabilizing his poorly hoisted up phone.
When he pulls up, a woman and man stumble in. He eyes them in the mirror, knowing just by the look of them that they aren’t going to tip. He begrudgingly starts the engine.
0:00 ───|────── 0:00
Jisung drives aimlessly through the city as if something will just jump out at him. He can’t find a couch to sleep on tonight and his eyelids are getting heavy. He pulls into the first parking lot he sees. He’ll just get a little shut eye while the parking lot’s still full. It’s either that or causing a car accident. He wakes up to a stiff back and the sun in his eyes. He blinks away the burning sensation, catching a glimpse of someone unlocking the building he’s parked out front of. They glance in his direction and Jisung prepares to be shouted at. However, the older man just smiles stiffly and waves at him. Jisung hesitantly waves back. He checks his phone to see what time it is. The cheap screen is useless in even the smallest amount of sun so he cups his hand above it. 12:33 pm.
He steps out of his car, stretching until all the joints that locked up were sufficiently popped. He happens to catch a glimpse of the sign when he cracks open his eyelids. He’s parked outside of a bar, and judging by the owner flipping the sign, one that opens relatively early. Curious, he steps into the establishment. It has the stereotypical pool table, the bar, and a few places to sit and eat. It has that cozy, rustic feel that most modern bars try to replicate. Jisung hesitantly sits at the bar.
“Um, thank you.” Jisung says sheepishly. The owner cocks an eyebrow at him.
“What? You sleeping out there? You’re not bothering me. Just don’t park in my spot.” His bluntness makes Jisung reconsider his approach. “Can I help you?” He’s mixing a little impatience in now and Jisung immediately takes the hint.
“S-somaek. Please. Sir.”
The man grunts before grabbing a bottle and a can from under the bar. He slides both to him. “Nine dollars.”
“Oh sir, I don’t plan on drinking this whole thing. Can I just have a glass–”
“Nine dollars.”
Jisung sits for a moment, wondering if he should leave and never come back. Then he’d risk losing a solid place to sleep. Jisung presents his card to which the man presents a small Square terminal. He takes his drinks and a glass to a table in the corner of the bar. One bottle and can turn to three by the time patrons come and go. He finds himself comforted by the chaotic environment. As he gains more of a buzz he feels himself levitating. He sees you as his eyes flutter closed.
Day and night he spends his time at the bar. The owner seems less annoyed now that he’s a paying regular. People come and go, clouding his brain satisfyingly with the noise. Some even bump into him, apologizing despite his indifference. Fall comes as his health declines. For once the owner protests his presence, complaining about the smell. He physically kicks Jisung out, sending him tumbling out the door.
“Fuck you, I don’t care about you anyway.” Jisung mumbles an incoherent slosh of words as he kicks at the ground. The action sends him tumbling back to the ground.
“You okay?” Jisung looks up after being questioned by a gruff male voice. Above him he only sees you. It’s a confusing, inconsistent mess of what he still remembers, but it’s enough for him to act on it. He stands up shakily, clenching your shoulders that don’t feel like your shoulders. He calls out your name.
“I’ve been looking for you, I came here for you!” He says happily. You shake him off, remarking to someone behind you that he’s “totally out of it”. You and your friends leave and he shambles after you. He miscalculates his steps and falls especially hard. He cradles his knee, rolling around on the floor. It’s okay, he can still sleep here. He still has a place to sleep. He opens his back door and splays out onto the seats, his feet dangling out of the car. With his face squished against the seats he calls out to you again.
“Come find me...”
0:00 ───|────── 0:00
Jisung groans when he feels his body move. His head is pounding and he can see the sunlight through his eyelids. He groans again, this one more akin to a whine. He notices his body is still moving around. Then he feels a hand that’s not his patting against his upper leg. He jolts upright, the action sending a bolt of blinding pain through his brain. When his vision finally focuses, he sees two men rummaging around in his car. One leaning over the driver’s seat and carding through his center console and the other right beside him, reaching for the floor. Jisung shouts out in shock. The man in the front looks over at him, cursing before retreating out the door and slamming it. While he’s staring at him, he notices the other is especially close. He turns to see him closing in on Jisung. He screams in horror and shields his face. The man reaches past him and grabs his duffle bag before fleeing. That doesn’t stop Jisung from flashing back to his assault, trembling as he slips out of the backseat and scrambles into the front. He drops his keys, reaching for them urgently before shoving them into the ignition. He glances at the suspicious onlookers keeping a watchful eye on him. He floors it, swinging haphazardly out of the parking lot. All their faces are vivid in his mind as he speeds down the street.
Images of Minho’s enraged eyes as he pummeled Jisung distract him. Cars honk as they pass his swerving vehicle. He eventually decides to park near a bus stop, slipping from his car and staggering onto the sidewalk. The first thing his eyes catch when he looks up is a sign on a utility pole.
“Single mother looking for a roommate.You’ll have access to the living room futon and all the amenities. $50 a month. Contact me at xxx-3894 or come to the Bayview apartments and ask for Heejin.”
Jisung laughs at himself. Just his luck that he’d see this when he needed it the most. It’s like someone is playing a cruel joke, daring him to nearly get killed again. He takes it as a challenge, gritting his teeth. ‘I’m not afraid to die’, he thinks as he hops back into his car. A piece of shit like him should be able to handle at least this much. Pain throbs right behind his eyes as he types the apartment name into his phone. He has tunnel vision the entire trip there, strutting through the doors and immediately losing his confidence. A burly man sits behind the counter.
“Yes?”
Jisung is met with that familiar impatience.
“There was an ad for a roommate…” Jisung finds it hard to think after months of letting his brain rot.
“You’re looking for Heejin.” He states as if to remind him. Jisung nods, swallowing when he notices his mouth feels like cotton. The man moves from behind the desk. “Alright, hands up.” He says as he approaches Jisung. Jisung stammers and looks at him in confusion, leading to the man raising his arms for him. Oh god, he was actually going to die. He feels tears prickle his eyes, anger and frustration filling him at the sensation. Why did he even care? It’s not like he deserved to live. The man pats him down before giving Jisung a hardy “Alright”.
Jisung looks up at him expectantly.
“Third floor, room 308.”
As he exited the elevator, Jisung kept thinking of every horror movie he’s ever seen where they lure some idiot into a secluded area and torture him for their amusement. He watches as insects crawl out from tears in the yellowed wallpaper. Everything is screaming at him to turn around but for what? So he can find another bar to drink himself into an early grave? Is life the way it is so worth living that he should fear dying? Despite that, his fist shakes as he raises it toward the door. He grits his teeth so hard he feels like they’ll crack under the pressure. He lowers his hand, cursing himself for his cowardice.
The door opens anyway and he flinches before looking up. Before him is a woman around his age with short hair, carrying a toddler. The toddler is crying loudly and the mother looks very disheveled. Not as much as him, but still enough for it to be noticeable.
“Please! Come in!” She sounds friendly despite her clear exhaustion.
He doesn’t know what would’ve happened to him if he didn’t find her and Mihee that day. She insisted on the low price to stay there. If only she knew who she was being so gracious to.
Heejin stumbles across a small container of ice cream and scoffs. She presents it to him, her cocked eyebrow suggesting she already has an idea why it’s there, but is still asking for an explanation. Only the beginning of a sound leaves Jisung before he’s huffing through his nose in defeat.
“Could you give it to her? I don’t know… like if she does something good? Say it was a surprise from you.” Jisung supplies to a disinterested Heejin.
“You’re just like my mother! What’s the point of being firm and putting my foot down if all she learns is to ask the right person?!” Heejin rants, exasperated as she tosses the ice cream back into the bag.
“I know, you’re right. I just couldn’t help it. You can have it. Eat it after she falls asleep or something.” Jisung falls even deeper into defeat as he sighs and closes his eyes. Heejin examines him quietly.
“No.” Jisung opens his eyes for clarification, only to be met with Heejin’s annoyed exhaustion. “You’re going to give it to her after she follows my instructions without talking back. You’re going to tell her that’s why she can have it, and to not ask for things I’ve already said no to anymore.” Heejin reaches for the ice cream again and shoves it into Jisung’s chest. He clutches it as she continues.
“Maybe she’ll listen if you say it.” Judging by the look on her face, she means exactly what’s implied. Jisung’s brain churns with turmoil. That little girl shouldn’t get used to trusting someone like him. He’s trying his best to minimize his interactions with her but it’s impossible.
“That is a good idea actually. You’re so good at stuff like that.” Jisung says sheepishly.
“And maybe this way you can practice interacting with her without treating her like an active grenade.”
Her words shock a strangled noise out of Jisung. “Like a what?!”
“Don’t play dumb with me. Every time she hugs you your arms hover in the air like a confused bird. And don’t even get me started on the way you talk to her. Kids are easy to talk to if you try.” The more Jisung stammers defensively the more potent her knowing look gets.
“Fine,” Jisung huffs, “ but it’s not easy. Maybe this stuff comes easily to people like you.”
“People like who? Parents? You know anyone can become a parent, right? You don’t magically become a child whisperer as soon as you become one. And please don’t tell me it’s because I’m a woman–”
“No!” Jisung protests loudly, slightly annoyed at her assumption. “It’s just… some people are born to help. Others are born to hurt.”
Heejin watches in awe as Jisung stews in palpable self disgust.
“Do you think I assume Mihee teleports into her bed after we doze off on the couch?” Is what Heejin settles on to summarize her thoughts. She doesn’t even let him respond, just leaving him to put the rest of the groceries away like she knows he wants her to.
Book club, pilates, mani/pedis, brunch. These are things you only heard of people doing. Mostly from girls in school and after school who would give you a dirty look if you showed interest. Now you were doing all of it with girls who looked just like them. They didn’t even have to tell you about their extensive morning and night routines. You don’t get skin and hair that flawless without hard work.
“How about you?” Hyunjin says after calling your name. While you were admiring their perfect grooming they must have been talking about their personal lives again. You guess that because they’ve been trying to get you to open up about yours. Not many people move here without having family here or leaving soon after. It’s only natural that they’re curious.
“What about me?” You frame it as you being humble, as if there’s nothing much to say. Meanwhile you actually didn’t hear her.
“Oh come on. There has to be some interesting story there.” Hyunjin urges, playfully suspicious of your mysterious backstory. You wonder for a moment if you should tell them your current house is one you fantasized about moving to with your ex. That would give them something juicy to chew on for months. But then you’d be framing yourself as a heartbroken damsel, not a homewrecking monster. And you’re definitely not ready to tell the truth.
“I always thought Jeju was beautiful, and I couldn’t pass up such a beautiful home.” You explain, the girls nodding in agreement. Especially Gowon, and you know exactly what she’s going to say.
“I’m just saying! Let me know if you ever decide to sell that puppy.” She raises her eyebrows at you as if she’s tempting you. She is. You give her a smile, hoping it comes across that you’re considering it. You’ve never been to a country club so you take the time to look around. The architecture is beautiful, you expect nothing less for such an affluent part of town. The warm browns of the wooden floors and paneled ceiling as well as the beige walls give it a very cozy feeling. The slant to the ceiling, however, gives it a modern edge. Being this far up, the windows offer a gorgeous view of the skyline and the ocean.
The country club isn't the only mainstay of the group. Hyunjin’s house was as well. You were well acquainted with her son, Seojun. He was a fresh toddler, exemplified by the turbulent wobble in his stride. Her husband, Jeongin, is someone you’re not as acquainted with. He seemed charismatic and has great bone structure. You could tell immediately that Hyunjin was in good hands. Initially, that is.
Hyunjin’s long hair tucked back by a thick, white headband with the exception of her straight across bangs exemplified her preppy look. It’s why you thought the two paired perfectly together. Jeongin is one sweater tied around his shoulders away from looking like a stereotypical man from the 50s. His perfectly styled hair made him resemble Ken, a perfect to match for his Barbie. This is the exact thought process when he stepped into the kitchen where you were straggling behind, cleaning your glass. You smile at him, it comes naturally as his uncanny resemblance to the doll amuses you.
“What brings you to this town?” He asks, seemingly bewildered by your choice. You sigh, almost complaining about answering this question so many times, but the smile still on your face doesn’t lie. This is the least problematic problem to have.
“It’s a beautiful place, isn’t it?” You remark wistfully. Jeongin agrees, exaggerating each step he takes closer to you.
“It’s a pretty empty place. You get to know everyone, settle down, and then boom!” You nearly drop your glass upon discovering he’s right next to you. So close he’s pressing against you. “Someone drop-dead-gorgeous moves to town.” He looks at you pointedly, his eyes dipping lower causing you to actually drop the glass, the pieces flying all over the sink basin.
“Woah! Be careful doll.” He reaches for your hand but you jerk it away. He looks at you, offended. You return the look right back.
“What did you say?” You mean the question literally, to double check what you heard, and as a way to encourage some critical thinking. You barely know this man. Hyunjin was one of the first genuine friends you met here who pulled you out of your rut.
“Geez. Don’t be so serious. I was just kidding!” He throws his hands up, surrendering from your grilling. Kahei rushes in and he flees just as fast.
“Are you okay?” She looks over the sink and then at your hands that are shaking. You nod dumbly. “Are you okay?” She asks again, skeptical of your previous answer.
“Jeongin just flirted with me.” You find the words flying from you before you can control it, disbelief coating them. Kahei looks at you sympathetically before rubbing your back.
“Yeah… you just gotta ignore him when he does that.”
You look up at Kahei, not sure whether the shock, confusion, or indignation was showing on your face. So many emotions and thoughts flow through you that end up voicing one aloud.
“A-are you guys sleeping with him?”
Kahei backs up from you, her looking affronted this time. “Excuse me?!”
“I-I’m sorry! That came out wrong, I didn’t–”
“If anyone did that, or does that in the future,” the pointed look she gives you feels like a searing hot iron branding your flesh, “they should be ashamed of themselves.” Her voice laps at you as she shoots you a sharp glare. She leaves shortly after, leaving you to grapple alone. As you walk out of the kitchen, completely forgetting about the shards of glass you left in the sink, everything around you is muffled and blurry. Hyunjin asks you something but your eyes are trained on the ground. What have you done?
Hyunjin shouts your name and jolts you to reality against your will. You look at all the married women before you. All married except you. You look at Kahei who is still staring daggers into you. If she told Hyunjin, that would be it. You’re the only bachelorette there and Kahei is her best friend of many years. Of course she’d see you as the scheming harlot there to steal all their husbands. The worst part was that you had to seriously consider if you did flirt back. You know deep down that you didn’t, but you keep replaying the interaction to see if maybe you made a face and led him on.
“I-I have to go.” You gather your things as the girls protest. As soon as you breach the doorway, tears pour down your face. You cover your mouth to contain the sob that spills from you. You walk as far as you can but barely make it to the bus stop before you fully break down. You turn away from the onlookers as the sobs rattle you. Of course this didn’t work out. Why would it?
The girls message you in the group chat and privately as an attempt to get through. You don’t even get your hopes up. They probably just miss gathering at your beautiful home. They can have it. You can’t take it anymore. You text Gowon and let her know you’re accepting her offer.
Other than smelling like the sea and his hands being numb from the cold, Jisung can’t complain about being a fisherman. He could focus on his thoughts since his coworkers didn’t speak to him much. Everyone just minded their own business and got the job done. Jisung pulls the buoy line up from the water, coiling the line right by his feet. His supervisor gives him a pat on his shoulder, signaling that this is the last thing he needs to do before he clocks out. Jisung just nods, appreciative that no one tries to yell over the noise of the wind and the boat. They just communicate with gestures and nods.
As soon as Jisung walks through the door he’s only thinking of a hot shower.
“Ji-Ji!”
But immediately upon hearing Mihee’s voice, his stress alleviates slightly. He gives her a soft smile, dropping it when she runs up for a hug. He stops her with a cautionary “woah”.
“S-sorry Mihee. Ji-Ji stinks.” He defaults back to that stupid awkward laugh. She frowns and walks back to where her mother emerges.
“Still.” She doesn’t even frame it as a question, knowing the answer from his bird arms. He hurriedly drops them once he realizes. She shrugs.
“You’ll get there.”
“You don’t know that.” Jisung corrects immediately. “You don’t know me.” His words offer a challenge. In a few seconds, Jisung can make her regret putting faith in him. Possibly regret ever letting him into her house. Jisung attempts to swallow the lump that forms in his throat.
Heejin picks up on that same look from when they were putting away groceries. She breathes a laugh. “Unless you’re some sort of axe murderer or child predator, I promise you I’m not worried about you being around Mihee.”
The confidence in her voice unnerves him. The back of his mind screams at him to tell her because she deserves to know.
“I cheated on my… ex-fiancee multiple times with the same woman. I even got off on the fact that it would crush her if she found out. I urged her to go on a trip with her friends when she just wanted to stay with me, all so I could invite over the other woman. She even called me during the trip because she missed me so much but I told her to stay. While I was inside someone else for a whole month she thought I was looking out for her wellbeing, I was actively destroying it for pleasure. The kicker is that she wasn’t even my fiancee yet. I let her propose to me, plan the wedding, fantasize about our future, and even walk down the aisle while I was thinking of the very same woman I moved to Jeju for.” Jisung pours his heart as if he was begging Heejin to vilify him. His eyes are pleading her, but not the same way his words do. He can tell that he’s letting it bleed through that he doesn’t want what he’s asking for. He shakes it away and continues.
“Jisung.”
“I left her at the altar. I embarrassed her in front of both our families on a day that was supposed to be the best day of her life. I just disappeared.”
“Jisung–”
“She screamed out for me–”
“Jisung!” Heejin snaps insistently, finally stopping his never-ending confessional. She huffs, seeming to prepare herself for something.
“You know, I gave birth to Mihee after finally breaking up with my husband. We fought all the time during my pregnancy, to the point where I thought the stress might harm Mihee. You can’t really blame my ex, though. He had sustained an injury from his job and his doctor suggested he abstain from any strenuous activity. It was so serious he wasn’t allowed to have sex for months.” She stresses the word as if to mock her younger, impatient self. It dawns on Jisung slowly but surely. His eyes don’t widen because he’s shocked by what she did, but that she did them.
“You could understand his anger now when he realized he wasn’t seeing things and there was– in fact– a baby bump protruding from his loving wife. Even worse is when she tried to gaslight him. Telling him she was just bloated and was seeing a doctor about it. Then the bump got larger, and he saw a tiny foot distend the skin of her stomach. I think what baffles me the most looking back was that I was so angry at him. So angry that I fought him in court for custody of the baby I wasn’t even sure I wanted. Well I won that fight thanks to the prejudice of the judge. He gave me a stern look and lectured me like he was my father, saying that now I had to stop screwing around and live the destined life of a woman. The entire trial my lawyer and the judge boasted about how amazing it would be for a child to have a parent who had a natural impulse to nurture. But I didn’t. My ex knew that, which is why he fought. After the verdict I didn’t hear from him for a few days. I was panicking every time Mihee cried, wondering why the nurturing instinct I was supposed to have wasn’t kicking in. Then he called me and I was so relieved, ready to do whatever it took to get rid of Mihee. But he absolutely let me have it. Said he was an idiot for trying to remain tethered to me in any way, that losing custody was like dodging a bullet. There was genuine relief and joy in his voice.” Heejin reminisces sarcastically, topping it off with a theatrical, wistful sigh. She gives him an emphatic look, like she was encouraging him to continue his confessions. Jisung looks lost and confused.
“Heejin… you’re a great mother…” He says as if trying to rationalize what he just heard.
“Exactly!” She says excitedly, pointing at him. Jisung shakes his head as her point fails to compute. “I didn’t even know what to do after that. I was heartbroken, because despite my poor decisions and us getting married at eighteen like so many idiots from our hometown, I did love him. The guilt was strong. So strong that I couldn’t tell if the depression was from postpartum or the guilt. Then Mihee cried again one night and it just… clicked. I can’t do right by my ex-husband, but I could do right by her.” The hidden bitterness and pain finally surface as her lip quivers. She shakes her head and looks at the floor. She laughs before looking up again, a tear slipping from her eye.
“Thanks a lot, Jisung.” She says playfully, wiping her eyes with her sleeve.
“I-I’m sorry…”
“Don’t be sorry. Hug my daughter back, asshole.” She slaps the back of his head before retreating into her daughter’s room. Jisung stares at the closed door with the most pitiful feeling of hope curdling in his stomach.
Kahei Hey.
Kahei We’re going to meet at the country club cafe. We were hoping you would come.
They must really like this house, you think, laughing derisively at your own joke. You chew on your lip after the humor of your distraction dries up. Did they tell Hyunjin? Is this some sort of intervention or group confrontation? You want to employ the healthy thought exercises you’ve learned but you keep replaying that moment after you walked out of the kitchen. The face that Kahei made inspired no confidence that you were going to be forgiven. You want to just sell the house to Gowon privately and high tail it out of there. You weren’t sure where you were going to go yet but you had to go somewhere.
You release a lengthy sigh, knowing where you needed to go.
“I think selling the house is a good idea.” Sooyoung informs you, her voice plain like it always is. Nothing for you to cling onto or stretch out of proportion.
“Really?”
Sooyoung lets a little amusement at your shock slip but nods through it. “I’d say you’ve been there long enough to know whether or not it’s a net positive or net negative. If it’s pulling you down, cut it off. Makes sense, right?”
“Yeah.” You’re surprised by how simple that was. “Huh.” You express, slightly satisfied. Slightly.
“So. Is there anything else you wanted to chat about today?” Now is when Sooyoung hints at an ulterior motive. You guys have been talking for long enough that she knows when you’re hiding something and that she can safely call you out on it. You could play stupid or delay your response, but that’s only drawing out the inevitable. You’re paying to be here, dammit. You grit and bear it, catching Sooyoung up with your split from the group.
“Did you flirt with Jeongin?” Sooyoung says the quiet part out loud and it catches you off guard. There’s an attentive look in her eyes that illustrates clearly that you have nothing to be worried about. The answer comes surprisingly easy despite the gargantuan unease tearing your stomach apart.
“No, but–”
“Then you didn’t do it.” Sooyoung interrupts you for the first time in any of your meetings. She releases a hefty breath in relief before continuing. “I’m sorry I sprung that question on you like that, but I had a good feeling you didn’t do it. I promise I wouldn’t have asked you that in an accusing way. But you see now why you shouldn’t be worried.”
“I… I’m just– I feel sorry for Hyunjin, okay?!” You stress not only to her but to people not present in the room.
“That’s very clear in my eyes. You may not have told Hyunjin what was going on, but you didn’t smile in her face knowing what was happening behind the scenes. If you have any fears that you’re walking into a confrontation of any sort, don’t. You should be the only person entering that cafe without a guilty conscience. And why is that?” This meeting with your psychologist turned into a pep talk suddenly. You feel slightly overwhelmed but you push through it.
“Because… I never deceived Hyunjin or purposely hid things from her.”
“That’s exactly right! You don’t need to go, especially if it will cause unnecessary stress and turmoil. But I think this is a good opportunity to stick up for yourself. And it may even be an opportunity to get your friend group back.”
You shoot her a confused look that makes her laugh.
“I don’t think it’s too late to mend things. If they’re really your friends, they’ll be able to handle you setting the record straight without getting offended. Plus, didn’t you say you enjoyed hanging out with them?”
“I really enjoyed it. It was like I was in a Hallmark movie.” You admit dreamily and partially in humiliation. Sooyoung laughs again and this time you join her. She stops for a moment and gives you a pointed, passionate look.
“You deserve happiness.”
That sentiment and the look in her eyes strikes something in you. You swallow hard, attempting to push down the large lump crawling up your throat. Your lips tremble and you look to the ground. You want to believe her. Every time you walk into this room, you want to believe her. You know it’s not going to be that easy, but damn it feels good to have someone rooting for you.
Through a tightened throat, you look up and thank Sooyoung.
Jisung’s supervisor pats him on the shoulder as he pulls on his coverall over his clothes. He looks over at him for clarity on the strangely-timed gesture. His supervisor clears his throat but it’s still gravelly beyond belief.
“We’ll be headed over to a well-off area to fulfill a large order today. The people there are spooked easily, so the customer warned us to not trail off too far if we dock.” He pats Jisung again as if to punctuate his sentence. Jisung nods as if he wasn’t already staring at the older man’s back. Jisung had forgotten what he said as fast as he said it. He doesn’t wander far from the harbor anyway.
As Jisung casts the buoy line, he looks out at the view. He can already tell they’ve arrived by the architecture and tourist-friendly attractions. Namely the pleasantly designed walls to welcome incoming boats. He has to guess what each cute little shop and building is, being this far away. Eventually they sail toward a residential area. His hands freeze and loosen on the rope, causing a chunk of it to zip straight into the water. Someone yelling his name only slightly alerts him. He drops the rope and they continue to yell. The crashing waves drown them out and alert Jisung to how bad his idea is.
Jisung looks from the water to the houses again and spots it. The rock pattern around the edge of the property is identical. The dark wood and gray bricks, the distant twinkle of fairy lights, how it looks in the snow. In a split second he goes from stepping up onto the bow of the boat to hitting the ice cold water. His body immediately tenses up from the cold but he pushes through it. His hands slice through the turbulent water as he swims like his life depends on it. Halfway there, the majority of his body is numb to the point that he can only tell his body is following his brain’s command to swim because he can see himself closing in.
He reaches for a pile of rocks leading up to the edge of your house and clenches onto one. Feeling nothing from the numbness, he slips off from it. He tries again, gritting and yelling as he pushes through the pain. He clenches onto each rock as he painfully pulls his body up. By the time his hand slaps down on the wall surrounding your yard his fingers feel like they will pop off. He eventually drapes himself over the wall, falling over onto your snow-covered grass. He grunts desperately as he pulls himself up, shambling toward the house. He walks past the window, the one he saw so vividly in his dream. He sees the fireplace that matches the listing and his dream. He stares at it as his body feels like it’s chilling to rigidity. He finally pulls himself away at no sign of you. He knocks on the door, each strike feeling like it’s crushing his bones. He doesn’t know if he’s crying from the excruciating pain or from the anticipation of finally seeing you but it pours out of him. He sobs until drool drips from his numb lips.
A woman with large eyes opens the door before hiding behind her husband.
“Hey pal, what’re you doing here?!” The man booms. Jisung’s brain pounds behind his skull and his heartbeat slows. His head lolls over his shoulders and his eyes flutter close just before the world tilts.
“Mr. Han? Can you hear me, Mr. Han?”
Oh no… he’s having a nightmare. But why about this? The last thing he needs is to be back here. He hears a woman’s voice he expects to be Jiwoo panicking, but he doesn’t recognize it. Who the hell is that?
“Oh dear god. Is he going to die??” The woman asks urgently.
“No honey, they said he’ll be alright.”
Jisung blinks his eyes open, all of his senses overwhelmed by the sudden realization that he’s conscious. The relief he feels that he’s not stuck in a nightmare is brief. The bright lights above him and the feeling of the stiff mattress beneath him brings back all the emotions from being hospitalized for his concussion.
“Where are my things?” Jisung asks weakly.
“Thank god!” He looks over to see the large-eyed woman from the house sighing in relief. The house he thought was yours. He really did move here for no reason…
“They’re here in this bag, but I highly recommend you stay for another day–”
Jisung swipes the bag from the doctor’s hand and leaps from the bed. From the taxi ride home to the freezing walk up to his apartment, many people try to get his attention. The driver asks him if he’s okay, passersby ask if they should call for help, the burly man at the front desk of the complex hurls many bewildered questions at him. They all watch him walk by emotionlessly, bare feet padding on the snow, concrete, dirty carpet. When the elevator dings looks out into the empty hallway with beads of tears hanging over his bottom lids. He pads out onto the poorly adhered sheet of matted carpet down to his apartment.
Heejin hears the door open and Mihee yell “Ji-Ji!” so she doesn’t feel the need to turn away from the stove.
“Hey Jisung, could you do me a big favor and help me clean the kitchen after this? Dinner’s almost ready.” She carefully starts to roll the egg. Jisung hasn’t answered but she needs complete concentration to do this.
“I know you’ll offer to do the whole thing yourself but…” She laughs, her smile fading slightly once she realizes Mihee is quiet as well. She swiftly kills the fire and flips around. The scene she witnesses makes her cover her mouth. Mihee nuzzles into Jisung’s shoulder as he holds her even tighter in his arms. Her tiny legs wrap around him as best as they can. They both soak up the long awaited hug in silence.
“I did all of this to myself.” Jisung admits weakly after explaining everything (including why he’s in a hospital gown) to Heejin. They both slouch on the couch, full from the food and exhausted from the day. Heejin looks over at him, the beer in his hand mirroring hers.
“So then it’ll be all the more satisfying when you fix it yourself.” She offers.
“Fix it how.” He laughs derisively. “In an attempt to lessen my ex’s pain, I probably tripled it. And the person I hurt her for is nowhere to be found.” He states the obvious in hopes she will understand his predicament.
“Are those the only aspects to your life?” Heejin asks carefully. “You’re suspended, but you said you liked your job, right?”
Jisung groans, very aware of where this is going.
“And you care about Mihee.” She adds with a more serious tone to her voice. “And she really loves you. You better not let down my baby girl.” She scolds. Jisung nods obediently, knowing she’s not joking at all. She sighs and rests her head on the back of the couch.
“It takes time. It’s going to be lonely. It’s been three years since Mihee was born and I've only just made friends. Speaking of which, you should come with me.” She looks over at him, pleading with him to hear her out despite the look on his face.
“Some of them are young mothers just like me, which is exciting!”
“And why you should go alone. I’ll look after Mihee here.” Jisung brushes her off.
“No! They invited me to this crazy nice place, you might love it! There will be other things to do there and we’ll get in for free!”
Jisung groans and melts back onto the couch.
“When is it.” He asks regrettably, making Heejin squeal.
You readjust your bag and coat for the eightieth time outside the doors. You have to go in there like you mean business. Express that you don’t take back what you did, but you really would like to be friends again if they’re up to it. You sigh through your peaking anxiety. How the fuck were you going to balance that tone? You’re not a politician. You inhale sharply before pushing the doors open.
“Over here!” Kahei immediately yells for you. You look over to see her beckoning you over and the other girls waving. You walk over to get a closer look and to confirm what you initially observed. Hyunjin is nowhere to be seen.
“What…” All of the worst case scenarios swirl through your mind as you look between them. Should you even be here?
“Please, sit.” Kahei asks tenderly. The slightly melancholic air to the room suddenly makes your stomach drop. You sit nonetheless, because the unknown is frustrating.
“Hyunjin hasn’t officially left the friend group, let’s just get that out of the way.” Gowon points out with both her hands lowered to the table. Kahei confirms before looking back to you. She says your name empathetically before laying her hand over yours. You feel like throwing up.
“We all told Hyunjin about Jeongin,” Kahei starts and you swear the room is turning slightly, “that he flirted with all of us. We should’ve done this a long time ago. It is truly shameful that it took someone who hasn’t even known Hyunjin that long for us to realize how wrong we were. That shows just how much you care, and Hyunjin wanted us to thank you for her.”
You untense your shoulder and finally fully settle into your chair. “So, she’s just taking a break, or–” You ask as you look between them.
“Yes.” Gowon interjects. “And rightfully so, she’s probably processing a lot right now.” The others nod. You start nodding too, failing to stop the tears from streaming down your cheeks.
“She is. She really is.” You blubber through your tears. The girls coo, standing to come over and wrap their arms around you. You hide your face, correctly anticipating that your cries were about to get ugly. Their embraces feel so healing, though. Each pat and rub to your back and arms soothes you. You recover as quickly as you can, grabbing a napkin from the dispenser on the table and dabbing away your tears. You sniffle, looking at all of them gratefully. The overwhelming urge to apologize is consuming you but you fight it.
“I’m really happy to be back.” You beam.
“I guess it does look nice.” Jisung admits with a small smile. Heejin says a small “See?” before entering the building. He doesn’t even notice her and Mihee being long gone as he takes in the huge building. Once he does he gasps and scrambles to follow them. He looks around at the architecture. The slanted ceiling is a really cool addition, he thinks. He hears someone call out Heejin’s name and his attention lags behind again. A cafe in a country club… Heejin just made some rich friends it seems. He looks over finally at said rich friends.
Jisung can faintly hear one of them tell Heejin that she’s right on time. Each of them take turns shaking her hand and greeting her. Including a hallucination. She looks like you, she sounds like you, she gives a name that matches yours. She’s looking at him. You’re approaching him. He panics and runs back out of the doors. He breathes heavily, trying to stop his heart from exploding. He rests his hands over it as his breaths become louder, until they transition into soft cries.
“Jisung?!” You say, moving closer to him. He looks up at you with intense, watery eyes and you back up suddenly.”J-Jisung, are you okay?” You ask with a heaviness he can’t quite grasp. You look like you’ll cry with him. Through your anguished joy at seeing him, you look great. You look healthy, well dressed and groomed. You’ve been here for less time than Heejin but you’re already shacked up with a group of rich friends. You’re thriving.
“I-I don’t even know where to start…” You say, confused at his intense stare. Jisung does.
“Were you in Incheon?” He hisses, straightening up to look you in the eyes. You’re shocked by the accusation laced within his words.
“Minho was in jail and I felt responsible. He did this because of me, I had to apologize–”
“I was the victim!” Jisung shouts against his better judgment. Hurt flashes on your face split second but he can’t stop. So many thoughts flip through his brain and he doesn’t think through any one of them. Your confusion doubles by this point.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t–”
“I got a concussion and hypothermia– f-fuck I’ve lost my goddamn mind looking for you!” He explains, desperate, angry, and crazed. Sadness overtakes him as he continues. “But none of that is even close to the emotional turmoil I went through without you. I know you don’t care about me– your own words– but do you not care about what you did to Minho?” He asks moronically. The words leave him and he immediately wants to apologize and beg for your forgiveness. But that want is far too distant. His anger is so close.
“Excuse me?!” You finally match his volume.
“If you did and it was still tearing you up, did you go and solve it on your own? With some other asshole while I suffered alone? You were the only thing that kept me sane and you left! You knew me and Jiwoo weren’t going to work out, why… why didn’t you wait?!” He pleads, flinching at the quick laugh you let out. A glossy sheen slowly envelops your eyes as you shake your head at him.
“Wait for what, Jisung?”
“Don’t act like you don’t remember.” Jisung closes in on you, lowering his volume but not his intensity. “We were the only ones who understood each other. The only people we could turn to and you–”
“It’s time to move past that, Jisung.”
Your unexpected answer, delivered in a delicate whisper, stomped out all the drive and anger he had. “Wh-what–”
“We’ve paid for what we did. It’s evident by all the burnt bridges from our past. Why we’re both here, miles away. I can’t keep relying on excuses for my behavior.” The twinkle of pain in his eyes softens you. For the first time in two years, you see Jisung. You can’t help reaching up and cupping both his cheeks. He huffs, more tears pouring from his eyes.
“I have to grow, Jisung.”
He clenches his eyes shut, crying harder. “You can grow too–”
Jisung shakes his face away and your heart falls. “That’s easy for you to say. Your life is all sunshine and rainbows.” He replies bitterly. You scoff at his incorrect assumption.
“The whole reason I’m here is because I almost did something stupid that landed me in a psych ward. D’you really think I wasn’t suffering, too?” You ask as you drop your hands from his face. “When I first got here, I couldn’t get through an entire day without breaking down. I couldn’t even turn to mindless sex because I was scared. And I only wanted you.” You look down, ashamed at your admission.
“I felt like– I still feel like I’m not a functional human and that everywhere I go I ruin lives. I feel that way because of you, Jisung.”
Jisung takes the opportunity to be affronted by an accusation now. “Because of me?!”
“Yes!” You reply incredulously before laughing bitterly. “I’ve been abandoned my whole life. Either because someone dies or I push them away. I almost prefer that my parents died, because at least then I wouldn’t have to live with them choosing not to be in my life because I was a sad excuse of a person. I kept pushing Minho, testing him to see if he’d leave. And when he did… I thought for a moment things could be okay. Why?” Jisung realizes before you say it, closing his eyes regrettably.
“Because I had you!” You shout. You laugh pathetically at your next thought. “I thought maybe witnessing the worst moment of my life would make you realize how much I needed you. And then you would smile on the phone while your girlfriend gushes about how excited she was to come home and be with you again.”
Jisung wanted to protest, wanted to tell you that he still cared about you and wanted to see you. But looking at the hurt in your eyes flashed him back to the day you walked out. The way he couldn’t find an answer when you asked him what he would do if Jiwoo put two and two together. The answer wasn’t obvious at that moment, but he knew the moment Jiwoo proposed that the answer was run to you.
“So if anyone should be grilling the other about being abandoned, it should be me.” You say, looking exhausted. Jisung feels utterly horrible. He finally finds you and this is what he does to you? You sniffle, wiping your eyes.
“But Jisung, I’m past that. I’m still fighting my demons but I won’t let them take control this time.” Your smile is a thin veil over your pain.
“Do you want to get coffee?”
You both agree that you want to speak to each other alone, so you’re both nursing paper cups of instant coffee back at your motel.
“So you were living in that house?”
“The one I showed you?” You ask and he nods. You look around before nodding back. Jisung sighs, wondering if he should tell you just how he got hypothermia.
“Did you like it?” He asks, keeping his eyes on you.
“No.” You admit, solemnly shaking your head. “It turned out to be a bad choice.”
“Seems like we’ve both got plenty of those to go around.” You both laugh at yourselves. As you settle into a brief silence, you remember what you saw posted to Jiwoo’s Facebook page last year.
“It seems like a lot of people were angry at you on Jiwoo’s page.” You bring up hesitantly. Jisung groans.
“Please. I do not want to talk about that.” Jisung strains. You look over at him and he dodges your gaze. You rest a hand on his knee.
“As soon as I saw you standing in the cafe, I wanted to crumble and just melt into your arms. Tell you all my shameless thoughts no one else would be willing to hear. Like the fact that my friend’s husband who made a move on me was objectively attractive and charming. And the fact that you wouldn’t even flinch would be comforting. But I don’t need my psychologist any more to tell me that that’s not healthy.”
He finally meets your eyes. Hesitantly, but he still does it. His heart grows heavier as he finally realizes that Minho was right. He did ruin you. You made each other complacent. After Heejin confided in him, he wondered if the right thing to do then was to marry Jiwoo. That didn’t feel like the answer and he knows now that it wasn’t. It was for you both to do right by each other. The consequences of each other’s actions.
“I regret it.” Jisung starts. “Every single day the look on her face haunts me. If I wasn't a monster before, I was definitely a monster for leaving her at the altar.”
“Honestly I was shocked to learn that’s what you did. You’re right, I didn’t think you guys would work, but I thought maybe you’d get divorced after years of an unhappy marriage.” You reflect thoughtfully despite your harsh words.
“That’s precisely what I was trying to avoid.” Jisung side eyes you playfully.
“I mean, it’s good you cut it off before that, but you could’ve done it any other way. And maybe a liiiiittle sooner.”
“When? The night you left?” He inquires genuinely after brief amusement.
“Maybe not. Mostly because I think you should’ve done it out of respect for her and not to pursue me.” You note as you stare into your coffee. “But also because I feel like we needed the journey it took to get here.”
Jisung snorts. “I beg to differ. But I get what you mean.” You both chuckle lightly. “What um… what did you say to Minho when you visited him?” He asks, silently wondering just how reconciled you two are.
“I told him he was allowed to hate me but he shouldn’t hate himself.”
“It sounds like you guys wrapped that up neatly.” Jisung deduces while nodding his head.
“Now I would beg to differ.” You start, amused, “He was in jail. The worst part is that he exhibited signs that he would become violent on my behalf and I ignored them.”
“Has he assaulted someone before?” Jisung asks in disbelief. You nod slowly, finally deciding to take a sip of your coffee. You grimace at the bitter taste.
“His best friend.” You smack your lips before looking over at Jisung who is wincing. He makes a long hissing noise that feels like rubbing salt in the wound. However, after a little time, you feel lighter somehow. Acknowledging it won’t make it disappear, but nothing will. You take another sip.
“Is that your girlfriend? …Your kid?” It’s your turn to be nosy. You peek over at him and he laughs.
“No, I haven’t been here for three years.” He stops laughing as he realizes the other component of that question. “And no. I don’t have a girlfriend.” He states, suddenly nervous as your eyes meet.
“Are you? In a relationship?” Jisung sips his coffee before you stand up with a smile. You grab his cup to join yours, setting both on the tv stand. You sit back on the bed, closer this time. You grab the hand nearest to yours, slotting your fingers under his palm.
“No.” You reply softly. He slides his hand to wrap his fingers around your thumb. You wrap yours over the back of his hand.
“If we’re going to do this…” He starts and you feel yourself getting excited. Your eyes flicker down to his lips, realizing you’ve been wanting to kiss him since you entered the motel. “Taking care of each other…” He clarifies. You say a soft “Oh” in realization before squeezing his hand.
“We should be upfront with each other. What do we want? I’ll go first, I want to take things slow.” He says and you deflate a little. “How about you?”
“Um, right now?” You don’t notice that you’re bouncing your leg until he laughs at you and places his other hand on it.
“No, going forward.”
“Oh! Well… honestly as long as I’m with you, it doesn’t matter.” You answer honestly though impatiently.
“Yeah?” He confirms quietly and you nod. “And right now?” His voice is hushed, dropping in pitch suddenly. Your eyes lower to his lips and his tongue peeks out between them. You give into the urge, leaning in before he makes an admonishing noise. He lets go of your hand to hold you by your shoulders.
“No?” You say in the most heartbreaking disappointed voice. He laughs again, he can’t help it. He bites his lip before speaking.
“Lay down.”
You excitedly lay back onto the bed, awaiting further instruction. He slowly moves to your side, his cold hand sliding under your shirt and cardigan. You gasp in surprise, closing your eyes.
“What about this is taking it slow?” He tsks, moving his hand back down and reversing his progress toward your breasts. You whimper, his hands on your skin igniting a feeling you haven’t felt in ages. His hand keeps moving until it breaches the band of your pants. You gasp excitedly as he dips a finger between your folds.
“Oh my god…” He remarks his shock. His finger sinks deeper into the sea of your arousal. He removes his hand and quickly moves it to his lips. He savors the taste, his eyes fluttering shut. You hum a turbulent moan, clenches your thighs tight. He moves back to your legs, situating in between them before baring your lower half. He discards the garments carelessly in favor of your exposed core. He plants a kiss or two, however many it took before you started to groan in frustration.
He suckles at your folds, encouraging your clit out. Once it’s free he wraps his lips around it. His lips smack wetly before releasing. He licks up your folds, gathering the bud back into his mouth. The friction he provides with his wet tongue and mouth has you lifting from the bed. You grunt at the tight tugging sensation in your stomach. Jisung switches to a rapid flicking of his tongue that sends you falling back to the bed. You suppress your writhing, feeling a strong fear of disrupting the pleasure. Your repeat short, gasped moans as you watch him.
His hunger grows as he guides you to your high. He slurps at your clit until you’re mewling a warning. You finally let yourself writhe as your first orgasm dawns on you.
“F-fuck I need to fuck you.” Jisung growls against your mound.
Jisung shoves his jeans and underwear down, his cock flopping upon being freed. He grabs the underside of your thighs and pushes your legs back before moving to your arms. He slowly urges them over your head as he heaves above you. “‘m gonna fill you up.” He breaths, his eyes tracing absent-mindedly over your features. You hum pleasantly at the action.
He slides his legs forward and his tip hits your mound. You jolt in surprise and excitement. Jisung mirrors your drunken smile as he slides in. Your smile fades as your jaw drops open.
“It’s been so long–” You sob, your legs dropping over his shoulders. “N-need it…”
Pleased, Jisung hums and grabs your hips. He starts slow and shallow, testing the waters, remembering how good you feel. You’re flooding around him, squeezing every time he breaches into new depths. Upon bottoming out your head drops to the bed, your hands splaying out against the headboard. You choke out a moan that sounds like it’s being forced from you.
“God, fuck!”
He finally starts smacking his hips toward you and you frantically cheer him on with crazed chanted yes’s. Jolts of electricity run up from his abdomen to his throat and out his mouth through an urgent groan. He leans down over you, his breath hitting your face before he kisses you. You can feel how hungry he is, not aware that you’re returning the same amount of hunger.
He pulls out and sinks back between your legs before you can process what had happened. He immediately starts lapping at your hardened clit like a madman. Your anguished moan is cut off as he eases three fingers into you. He sounds and feels desperate. His movements are frantic and he can’t stop moaning and humming against you. His saliva mixed with your arousal drips down to your asshole in a thick glob. Not that you can dwell on it much. Not when his tongue is moving so quickly and expertly against you. You can’t help thanking any high power that would listen that you decided to hear the girls out today. He thrusts his fingers inside you faster as he switches to sucking your clit with an obscenely loud noise. He uses his tongue to rub long strokes against your clit.
You reach down and tug at his hair so hard you think you’ll rip some of it out. You’re both whimpering like puppies in heat. The entire bottom half of his face is practically submerged into your mound. You buck up into him as another orgasm rattles you. You release his hair to fist the comforter with a deep groan.
Jisung crawls back up to position his cock at your entrance. He kneels right over your hips, making it so he can drop his cock inside you with lethal force. He starts with an accelerated speed that has you squealing desperate pleas. His balls slap at your asshole, making the already lewd sound of your wetness even more disgusting. You both sound like crazed animals as you claw and grab at each other. One of his hands haphazardly grasps at your breast to anchor himself.
A sudden wave of euphoria overcomes you as you recognize his telltale signs he’s close to cumming. He seems to notice something too, reaching down to wrap both his hands around your throat. As he squeezes you rocketed to your orgasm, your cunt spasming around his throbbing cock. He pumps his cum deep inside you, bottoming out two, three, four more times until he’s completely empty.
It’s like a ray of sunshine cascades over the both of you as he pushes back inside and lays over you. He rolls you both onto your sides, pulling you close like he doesn’t plan on letting you leave.
As you observe Jisung across the room, you wonder silently if he knows he bites his knuckles when he’s nervous. He paces, visibly frustrated by the limitations of the small space. He flips and walks to the other wall, the phone in his hand now facing you. The dingy lights of the motel room fail to illuminate him as well as the sun that has long since set. Despite that, you still catch his eyes widening.
“H-hi! Um… is Jiwoo available?” After a very brief break, his knuckles are brought back up to reckon with his teeth. “Right, I’m an… old friend. I moved away– alright! Thank you.” Jisung is excited before the anxiety takes back the reins. He switches to his cuticles, needing something to tear at. Your stomach is twisting for him.
He glances over at you for the first time since he agreed to do this. The terrified look in his eye makes you want to snatch the phone away and hold him, but instead you give him an encouraging smile. You nod and he nods back.
“Hello? Ah… yeah. This is Jisung.” He flinches at what you presume to be an increase in volume. “I-I know. And I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
“I am!” He responds desperately after a momentary pause. “But you don’t have to believe me. I was a coward… so I just wanted to do the right thing and give you closure.”
Jisung chews on his lip before his eyelids involuntarily close, almost like he was bracing himself for something and hated that he was. But as his mouth drops open and a look of hurt confusion twists his features. A tear rolls down Jisung’s cheek amidst the silence.
“I am okay.” He assures her in slight disbelief only for him to laugh dryly seconds later. “That’s fair. I’d tell me to go fuck myself, too.”
Jisung shuffles and looks down at his feet. “And is he your boyfriend?”
You wince at how that sounds, only for Jisung to be immediately briefed on that fact. “N-no I didn’t mean it like that!” Jisung sighs, dropping his defensiveness.
“You’re right. I was pretending to care about you. I was cruel.”
Jisung freezes suddenly, his face partially obstructed by shadow. “It was after we moved in together. I realized how different we were, but I wouldn’t let myself believe it. I wanted to change for you… or at least that’s what I told myself.” Jisung answers honestly despite sounding like he wants to do anything but.
“I guess I thought being with you would make me less of an idiot. But me being an idiot was no excuse for what I did, Jiwoo. And I’m sorry.” He whispers as if he’s lost all his strength. It resurfaces momentarily as he tries to stop Jiwoo but then he takes the phone away from his ear.
After giving him some time, you turn to him. He faces vaguely in your direction, seeming ashamed of the tears threatening to spill.
“Sh-she hung up–” Jisung starts only to get choked up. His head droops and you push off of the bed. You hurry to him and wrap your arms around him. His cries are quiet, just brief heavy breaths here and there. You rub his back. A few minutes of rocking back and forth encourages him to break the silence.
“I don’t want to leave.” He states weakly.
“You can sleep here tonight, but I agree about taking it slow.” You pull back to look into his saddened eyes. You cup his cheek and he’s finally able to indulge in the tender gesture. You smile.
“We have time.”
