Hi, It’s been a while, I know, sorry about that. <3
I’m back tho!!! And I’m writing a Maddie Rooney and Parker Rooney, sisterly-brotherly one shot.
They’re SIBLINGS if some of you don’t know and it’s NOT incest.
Summary of the story plot: Maddie is making Parker do her science project/assignment for her.
But I’m currently stuck on how I move forward, like should I make something go wrong and make Parker get hurt? not like seriously hurt but like hurt that it kind of concerns Maddie, with a sparkle of sibling fluff
OR should I make Parker force Maddie into helping out with her own science project/assignment? That also includes Sibling bonding/fluff in its own way???
Or should I just do the first example but Parker just messing with Maddie?

the other Hargreeves siblings being absolutely teary-eyed on the day of y/n and Five’s wedding. they like to think of her as an adopted member of the family, because she’s gone through so much with them, gotten so close to death in multiple occasions while trying to save them. after everything, they never thought to see her live out the happy life she deserve, much less getting married to Five.
a/n: i am a sucker for found family tropes and wedding pieces so this was fun for me to write
warnings: none i think ? mostly fluff
Your stomach feels as if it’s tied into a million knots, and you can’t bring yourself to even touch the plate of fruit Klaus had fetched for you to nibble on as you got ready for the big day. Allison works diligently to perfect your look despite her insistence that you should have just let her hire a professional to get the job done, but you were adamant about keeping everything as simple as possible. Neither you nor Five wanted some big extravagant mess when it came to your ceremony, and if it had been up to you both you would have just settled for a courthouse marriage, but his family wouldn’t have it. You were finally becoming an official Hargreeves, and they deemed it necessary to celebrate with a proper wedding and reception despite the fact that there really would only be about ten guests at most.
You met Five in the apocalyptic ruins of the world while scavenging for food. Despite everyone you knew and cared about perishing in the gale of fire that blanketed the earth, you had miraculously survived. Call it pure luck for being at the right place at the right time, but you had been searching for a flashlight in your underground basement when the moon had been struck, and the reinforced steel structure of the room had kept you from suffering the same fate as everyone around you.
Neither of you trusted each other in the beginning, but you both were smart enough to realize that sticking together was necessary for your survival, and so you put aside your differences to travel the apocalyptic wasteland together. That’s not to say there weren’t times when you got on each others nerves or wanted to strangle him with your bare hands, but with time your partnership evolved into an actual friendship, and perhaps it could have evolved into more if not for the constant distractions that arose during your fight for survival.
Allison accidentally poking your eye with a mascara wand interrupts your moment of reminiscing, and she merely gives you an apologetic smile when you shoot her a look of annoyance in return.
“I told you we should have hired a professional,” she reminds you matter of factly only for you to lightly swat her hand away.
“And I told you I wanted to go down to the courthouse and pick up a sheet cake at the grocery store,” you counter with a raised brow. Sensing defeat, Allison relents with a small sigh and takes a step back to look at her masterpiece.
“You’re right, I’m sorry. It’s just our family doesn’t get to do these sorts of things very often, and it’s not every day I get a new sister.”
Your shoulders slump guilty at her admission, and you find yourself now feeling less combative against her than you initially were. Though you mentally are in your 50’s and no longer see a need to have a big wedding to marry a man you’ve known for basically your whole life, you still physically look like a young bride, so it’s only natural for Allison and the rest of Five’s siblings to want to treat you as such. From what Five has told you along with the stories that have been recounted in your presence, their lives have always been less than normal. You of all people can relate to that- growing up in an apocalypse, becoming a glorified secretary for a time-ordinance bureau while your only friend is out on assignments, risking your life to save the world, ending multiple apocalypses. The list could go on forever. They’re only trying to experience normal family milestones, so who are you to get in the way of that.
“No, I’m sorry,” you relent with a remorseful sigh. “I know you’re just trying to be nice, and I’m grateful for how quickly you and your siblings have welcomed me into the family despite how unconventional this all is. I really appreciate it.”
“Good, I’m glad you see it my way,” Allison teases playfully before finishing up the final touches on her masterpiece.
“Knock, knock,” Klaus singsongs from outside your dressing room before letting himself in. Proudly holding up the plastic wrap bag from its hanger, he announces, “Here I am with the dress, and as promised, nothing happened to it under my watch.”
“Thank you, Klaus,” you smile gratefully only for him to return the gesture with an affectionate pinch of your cheek.
“No need to thank me, sweetheart. I’m just so excited to finally have a little sister!”
“You know I’m technically older than you right?” You retort with a raised brow only for him to press a finger to your lips.
“Shh, don’t ruin this for me,” he gently corrects you before pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. You don’t miss the way his eyes begin to water at the sight of you with your hair and makeup done, but you’re kind enough not to point it out. Klaus had been the easiest of Five’s siblings to warm up to, always treating you like one of his own and roping you into his mischief despite your fiancé’s protests. The Seance couldn’t even count on one hand how many times you had been there to lend a shoulder for him to cry on when his addiction became too much or offer a supportive hand when his siblings had been less than eager to do so. He adored you, and he could nearly burst with pride at finally being able to call himself your brother.
“Alright, we have thirty minutes left to get you into that dress and down that isle,” Allison announces with a determined clap of her hands before snatching the dress from Klaus. “Are you ready to officially become Mrs. Hargreeves?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” you announce with a resigned sigh before immediately being pulled every which way by the two siblings to finish your ensamble.
You can’t wait to get this over with.
~~~
“You nervous?” Viktor whispers with a gentle nudge to Five’s side. Quiet chatter drifts through the air as the handful of guests that are present make conversation to pass the time before the ceremony begins. Neither of you exactly have big families; Five has only ever had his siblings, and your family isn’t exactly supportive of your choice of groom. It’s an intimate affair, but you both prefer it that way.
“Hardly,” he scoffs indignantly, though his need to readjust his tie for the millionth time says otherwise. Five knows that this probably should have happened sooner and promoting you from his partner to his wife has been long overdue. He was honestly surprised you had said yes when he’d finally bit the bullet and asked the question. He loved you, cared for you in a way he never thought possible and in a way that honestly wasn’t quite like him. But you were different, and he hadn’t risked it all trying to end multiple apocalypses just to not marry you once the world was finally safe.
“I’m glad you’re happy, we all are,” his brother notes with a kind smile. “She’s good for you, and she’ll be a good addition to the family.”
Five can’t argue with that. It honestly pains him to think about just how many times you’ve thrown your own life on the line for not just him but his siblings as well. You’ve been there for them even when it wasn’t your responsibility, when they technically weren’t your family yet, even when Five himself wasn’t the best brother to them all. While Five could at times be brash or crude, you were patient and understanding, and this balance helped make their team stronger. You’d make a fine Hargreeves; he wouldn’t be standing here today if that weren’t the case.
Behind the wooden double doors you nervously readjust your veil as you wait for your cue to enter the room. Diego holds your bouquet patiently on your left while Luther fluffs out the skirt of your dress for you on your right. Having no real family present for your big day, you were left without anyone to give you away to your new husband. Diego and Luther had both been eager to throw themselves at the chance to be at your side down the aisle, constantly at each other’s necks arguing over who deserved the right more. Of course, as the bride it was you who got the final say, and the choice couldn’t have been more obvious. You picked them both.
Both men had been put through a lot by your fiancé, from having to carry his drunken form out of a library to dealing with his fits of rage at their inability to meet his deadlines for important tasks, but they had always been kind to you despite the unorthodox nature of your relationship with their brother. Luther had taken several bullets for you before, and Diego hadn’t shied away from being a supportive shoulder to cry on whenever you and Five couldn’t see eye-to-eye. It would feel wrong not to have them both by your side, and they were honored.
“You scared?” Diego questions after noticing your tight grip on his bicep when the music begins. He has to hold back a wince from the way your manicured nails dig into his arm and distracts himself by handing you your bouquet.
“A little,” you answer honestly, harshly swallowing down your nerves when Luther opens the doors for you to walk through.
“You’ve got this,” Diego encourages after pressing a chaste kiss to your temple. “If anyone is brave enough to marry my brother, it’s you.”
“Brave or maybe a little insane,” Luther adds under his breath.
You can’t help the small huff of air that pushes past your lips in response to his quip, but you’re given no time to respond as your soon-to-be brother-in-laws escort you to your awaiting husband.
No one can deny how absolutely breath taking you look in your elegantly simple wedding gown, your smile nervous as you make your way towards Five who looks so handsome in his perfectly tailored suit. All day you’ve wanted nothing more than to see him, but now that you’re here you find yourself full of nerves and anxiety.
Luther and Diego give you away at the end of the isle (not without sternly warning Five to take good care of their new sister), and you finally find yourself face-to-face with the man you’ve loved for years.
“You ready for this?” He whispers under his breath as Viktor begins his officiant speech, subtly reaching for your hand to give it a reassuring squeeze.
“This won’t be the worst thing we’ve done together,” you note cheekily with a shrug as you hide your smile behind your bouquet, and Five can’t argue with that.
Though his siblings have been better at showing their excitement for this day than you or Five combined, you’d be lying if you said you weren’t happy to finally be marrying the boy who had been by your side through thick and thin, good and bad, and life and death. Perhaps your love story was a bit unconventional, but unconventionality is a Hargreeves speciality.
You’re going to fit right in.
Gwyn and Azriel stumble across Rhys as they leave for their date.
Gwynriel with a dash of Gwynsand - 700 words
For @lulling-night-sky who is a sucker for fluff and anything that has to do with Rhysand (except my fics where he gets beaten up)
***
“Ready?” Azriel asked Gwyn after having gaped at her in awe for a while.
Gwyn beamed, her heart fluttering at how flustered she had – not for the first time – rendered the usually stoic Spymaster, and nodded excitedly.
She had been looking forward to this moment for the entire day. Even as she had fed and played with Nyx, her thoughts had kept going back to Azriel and their upcoming evening together.
Having happily agreed to spend the day looking after the little lord with Nesta at the River House so that his parents could focus on their duties, Gwyn had decided to bring everything that she would need and get ready for her date with Azriel here instead of asking someone to winnow or fly her back to the House of Wind. Besides, Emerie and her had spent so much time here with the inner circle that the High Lord and Lady always had a guest room reserved for them.
She took the hand that Azriel offered and followed him from the bottom of the staircase to the foyer. From the living area, she heard the voices of Nesta and Cassian who was enthusiastically responding to the prattling of Nyx, as well as Feyre who had returned while Gwyn was stressing out over whether to put her hair up or leave it down.
She had gone with the third option proposed by Nesta to tie the top half up with a pretty silver hair stick gifted to her by Emerie for Solstice. The best thing about it was the thin dagger hidden inside that could potentially come in handy. She might be going out with one of deadliest – and most handsome – male alive, but she was still a Valkyrie who loved daggers, especially when they were disguised as pretty accessories.
“You are breathtaking.”
Gwyn blushed from his compliment. Emerie and Nesta were right about the fact that her little black dress was the ideal choice. It was also a perfect match to Azriel’s entirely black attire.
“So are you, Shadowsinger.”
His answering smile almost made her trip on her own feet. He brought their intertwined hands to his lips and kissed her knuckles.
Azriel opened the door and started to leave when another set of footsteps was heard coming their way. Looking to her left, Gwyn saw Rhysand strolling towards them with his hands in his pockets, no doubt having completed his work for the day and ready to reunite with his mate and son.
“Bye Rhys.” She waved a hand at him.
Gwyn still couldn’t believe how close they have become over the past few years. Sometimes they were a High Lord and a Valkyrie who worked together for the well-being of those they cared for, other times they were confidants who listened and offered support. Sometimes they were like protective siblings who looked out for each other, oftentimes they were the type of siblings who teased and pestered the other. But at the core of all these versions of them were mutual respect and care. The kind of bond that Gwyn never thought that she would ever have. None of the relationships that she had forged so far had been expected, yet they were all precious in their own way.
“Be home by midnight,” he ordered, pursing his lips to stop the smile that was threatening to break on his lips. His violet eyes sparkled like the first stars that had started to appear in the sky. Azriel snorted at the curfew that his brother was imposing on Gwyn.
“Fuck off.” She rolled her eyes. “You’re not my father.”
Rhys crossed his arms and puffed his chest. The arrogant asshole, she thought.
“I’m old enough to be.”
Gwyn laughed. She squeezed Azriel’s hand and dragged him out of the door, eager to finally be alone with him.
“You’re old enough to be the cauldron’s father,” she shouted at Rhys before slamming his own door shut in his face.
The sound of Rhys’ gasp on the other side of the door was covered by the chuckle that Azriel let out beside her. What a lovely way to start their evening!
"Be careful my love" You called after your daughter. She giggled waving you off while pulling her younger brother along with her. Jacaella always the troublemaker.
"She's going to end up killing Maelon with her adventures" Your handmaiden giggled holding Elaerys to her hip. The other handmaidens joined in giggling, one held Valeron's han while another held Vael in her arms. Baeron was asleep in your arms still a moon old and too young.
"I hope not, I quite like my son alive" You joked back. They all giggled following behind you, it was time for supper and your mother had wished for the entire family to dine together, deep down you know she did it to see Daemon, he has been with you every single day since the day you had given birth to Baeron.
Guards opened the doors to the room showing a long table filled with all kinds of foods and drinks from wines to juices. Your brothers were already present there, Jace with his new wife Baela by his side and Luce with Rhaena giggling amongst each other. Joffery was running around with Aegon, Viserys, Jacaella and Maelon since all of them were close in age to one another. Your mother was still not hear and neither was Daemon. You walked further in with the maids behind you, all of them placed the children in their respective chairs, some on higher ones with a rope holding them in place so they would not fall off.
"Sister, it has been a while" Luce was the one to greet you first. He hugged you tightly, he had grown to be almost taller than you and he still had some growing to do.
"I have missed you while you're away having fun on driftmark" You teased. You almost ruffled his hair but stopped yourself, he was no longer a child.
"You are having fun here as well" Jace joked wrapping an arm around you from behind. He eyed all your children sitting around the table and some running around. You elbowed him to make him shut up. Luce and Rhaena laughed along with Baela.
"My love" You all turned at the sound of Daemon's voice. He walked over pulling you into his arms instead of Jace's. You rolled your eyes placing a kiss on his cheek. He smiled sweetly at you, he had defiantly changed from the day he found you with Aemond, a distant memory now. He reached over to take Baeron from you relieving you of the weight on your.
"Unca Jace!" Jacaella yelled running over arms wide open. Jace laughed crouching down to pick her up and twirl her around. She giggled holding on to his face and kissed his cheek. Jace loved his nameksake so much he spoiled her most between her siblings.
"Why thank you princess" He kissed her forehead. Baela walked over when he paused his movement to fix Jacaella's dress.
"They will make fine parents one day" You whispered to Daemon who was watchingJace closely, your threat a couple of moons ago still playing in his head.
"Stop that" You nudged him. Daemon turned to look at you while fixing his grip on Baeron, a big baby and it could be tiring holding him for long periods of time.
"What?" He feigned confusion. He furrowed his eyebrows and tilted his head to the side. Your heart skipped a beat when his purple eyes did the triangle stare between your eyes and lips.
"Frowning, you look prettier with a smile" You answered. His face brightened and he chuckled. He wrapped his free arm around you pulling close into his side so he could kiss the crown of your head.
"You think I'm pretty?" He questioned smirking teasingly at you. He loved seeing your face turn bright red and your smile turning shyly.
"Of course, otherwise I would have thrown you out of a window to get a prettier husband" You teased back. Daemon's eyes darkened and his grip tightened around you possessively, no matter what he still did not forget Aemond and your relationship even as the years passed.
"But you are lucky you are pretty and I want no other husband, besides your cock is just as pretty" You pinched his side. Daemon smirked but he was unable to speak since your mother strutted into the room.
Daemon pulled your chair back for you before sitting down beside you refusing to hand Baeron to anyone and kept him in his arms. Vael was on his other side in her highchair trying to remove to rope holding her in place so she would not fall. Your mother scowled and sat opposite you with Jace on one side and Luce on the other. The tension could be cut with a knife but no one said anything.
The food was brought in and your family was left alone to dine alone, there wasn't any cupbearer even. Jace kept glancing between you and your mother awaiting a fight. You ignored her glares and focused on feeding Valeron who was sat on your other side.
"You must eat my love, you are feeding" Daemon whispered and filled your plate with a little of everything. You thanked him with a kiss on the cheek. You ate slowly having to focus on both Valeron and yourself other than having to scold your two eldest who began fighting. Elaerys being the angel she was awaited her aunt Baela to feed her quietly munching while kicking her feet.
"I feel like she's going to jump over the table and kill me" You whispered to Daemon. Your mother's fists clenched seeing how much closer you and Daemon had grown over the last moon. Daemon's eyes darkened at your words.
"I would never let that happen" He promised. He handed Baeron again and kissed your forehead. Your mother slammed her hand down on the table earning the attention of everyone and made most of the children jump in shock and fear.
"Enough!" She yelled pushing her chair back making it fall on the ground and stood up tall.
"Mommy!" Elaerys cried afraid. Baela pulled the two namedays out of the highchair and held her close to her body trying to calm the child. Jacaella jumped off her chair and ran to her father along with Maelon seeking his comfort. Daemon pushed back his chair and glared back at your mother. His hand rubbed the shoulders of his eldest two from you as they hugged his legs.
"What is wrong with you? There are children here!" He yelled angrily. Baeron woke up from the commotion and burst out crying. You stood up as well trying to shush him desperately.
"Enough with this nonsense" Your mother moved to walk over to your side. Jace stood up now as well and moved from the other side of the table over to your side. He did not know who's side to take in this, his mother's? Or his younger sister?
"Mother please stop it" You begged also feeling fear growing inside of you. Rhaena scrambled over to you and took Baeron from your arms, you were the main target of your mother's anger. You had never imagined that you would be the reason your children could be in danger.
"You stop stealing my husband! He's my husband and has been for many years before you but you decided to whore yourself to him and get pregnant" She yelled pushing some of the plates off the table. Luce pushed his chair back now also standing up and moved away from the table avoiding being hit by a silver plater.
"Mommy!" Elaerys cried burying her face deeper into Baela's neck. Baela nodded at her sister signalling for them to leave. Rhaena moved to grab Jacaella's hand who protested but when her father looked down at her and nodded she let go of his leg and allowed Rhaena to pull her out with Baeron in Rhaena's other arm still wailing. Luce moved to take Maelon from his father and Valeron from his highchair before following after his betrothed. Baela looked at Jace who signalled for her to leave with Elaerys in her arm pausing only to take Vael from her highchair.
"I did not steal anyone from anyone" You cried turning to face your mother. Your vision blurred with tears, you had never thought you and your mother would be on opposite sides.
"You are a whore who went behind my back and fucked my husband" She pulled one of the silver knives off the table and marched over to you. Daemon was quick to move in front of you holding her arms in place up in the air ready to hurt you. You took a couple of steps back bumping into Jace who wrapped his arms around you to comfort you.
"You are just like her" Daemon glared down at Rhaenyra. Flashes of the night Aemond lost his eyes went through your mother's head along with everyone else's in the room. She pulled away from Daemon letting the knife fall on the floor with tears streaming down her face and her hands covering her mouth shocked. Daemon did not waste time on her and moved over to you pulling you in his own arms.
"Oh gods I'm sorry" She whimpered. You looked at Jace nodding at him to comfort your mother. He walked over to her and pulled her into his arms.
"I'm so sorry I should not have let my jealousy blind me so" She looked down ashamed. Daemon pulled you tighter into his embrace. He kissed your head trying to comfort himself that you were alright while you clutched tightly onto his tunic fearing your own mother who birthed you, raised you and cared for you and almost killed you minutes ago.
"Please leave" You begged hiding your face in Daemon's chest. You could hear her sob sorrowfully at your rejection but let Jace lead her out of the room.
"Are you alright?" Daemon pulled back to look at your face. One of his arms stayed wrapped around you and the other raised so his palm was on your cheek.
"I am alright" You dismissed his question. You pulled him down kissing his lips feeling the safest then, in his arms and with his lips on yours.
"I should have killed her for this" Daemon growled leaning his forehead on yours.
"No, she is still my mother" You placed both of your palms on his face stirring his face so he would look you in the eyes. Daemon sighed annoyed but nodded.
"How much longer do I have to wait?" He asked letting the hand on your lower back lower even more to your bottom. You giggled and moved it back up, the maester still has not given you the permission to make love, your body has not healed fully yet.
"Just a little more, my love" You responded. His whore demeanour changed at the sound of your gentle voice. His muscles relaxed and his face softened.
♡ but you’re the one I want - choi seungcheol fluff {1k words} ♡
inspired by the song Chloe by Emblem 3 (who remembers them lolol)
dynamic: choi seungcheol x female reader
warnings/tags: fluff, reader has a hot older sister, but coups just wants her 😩, general cutesy vibes, high school au
~
As much as I loved my older sister, having a popular older sibling that received 90% of the attention both at home and in school took its toll. We were only one year apart but I felt worlds away from her. She had an easy beauty about her, shining like a pearl and pulling everyone in with her natural charm. I was more of a simple rock. Pretty from some perspectives but not as bright in the sunlight. My sister was amazing in every way, and I was proud to be related to her. But a small part of me was jealous that she found love and friendships to be so easy, so simple. She never had to try to make friends or secure a date with the boys she liked. I tried to emulate her, but we were different, at our cores.
I held out hope that my longtime crush, Choi Seungcheol, would turn a blind eye to my beautiful sister and perhaps see the shadow behind her. Me. We were casual friends at best, close acquaintances at worst. Seungcheol was popular among his crowd but didn’t shine as brightly as my sister did. No one stood out quite like her. He was handsome, though, and easy to talk to. He had a way of looking through me, rather than simply looking at me. He never seemed to be in a rush to end our conversations and spent time with me at lunch or between classes when we crossed paths. It made butterflies flutter in my stomach each time we talked.
“Trade?” I knew his voice from just one simple word. I looked up from my usual spot on the corner of the bleachers overlooking the athletic field, my simple lunch on my lap in front me. Seungcheol held a bag of salty chips as he smiled gently down at me and I knew he wanted to swap them for my sweet ones. He had an insatiable sweet tooth, and I was a sucker for savory snacks.
“Sure,” I grinned, handing over my packet in exchange for his. Our fingers brushed, the shock of it zapping me hard enough to make me yank my fingers away. I laughed awkwardly, heat creeping up my neck as I tore open the bag and shoveled several chips past my lips. They scraped the roof of my mouth sharply and I winced, earning a chuckle out of Seungcheol.
“Be careful,” he spoke quietly, a crooked smile on his handsome face. I nodded, munching away and refusing to make eye contact. That moment that our hands made contact replayed in my mind over and over, distracting me so much that I didn’t notice Seungcheol trying to get my attention until his hand was shaking my shoulder.
“Huh?” I jerked my head to meet his eyes. They crinkled in amusement, his head shaking lightly.
“I said, I had something I wanted to tell you,” he said with that deep voice of his.
“Oh! Of course, of course, go ahead. I’m listening, I swear,” I smiled encouragingly. He loosened a laugh through his nose, and turned away to stare at the metal seats in front of us. The sun was warm and I noted the small beads of sweat clinging to his dark hair. He bit his bottom lip, and I could have sworn he looked nervous.
“I was just saying that…I-I wanted to ask if-if you’d be interested in going on a date…with me..?” He stuttered. My mind blanked momentarily, and I frowned in confusion.
“Huh?” I blurted once again.
“If you don’t want to, I totally get it. And if this is making you uncomfortable, tell me and I’ll shut up immediately. I just, I’ve had a crush on you for a while. You seemed so…preoccupied with other things that I thought you really weren’t interested. But lately it sort of seemed like…anyway, I like you. And I’d really like to take you out, if that’s something you’d like as well. You’re a great friend and…and I think you’re really beautiful,” he confessed with a gentle smile. I held eye contact with him for what felt like the first time since we had met and didn’t turn away in embarrassment or nerves. Seungcheol’s expression was sincere as he patiently awaited my response.
“You-you…you like me? Not my sister?” I asked. Seungcheol cocked his head to the side.
“What? What does your sister have to do with any of this?”
“She doesn’t, I suppose. It’s just, well, everyone likes her. She’s the one everyone confesses to and wants to be with. Not that I blame them, I mean, look at her. I just, I figured someone as handsome as you would prefer her,” I rambled.
“You think I’m handsome?” He smirked. I coughed awkwardly, the heat from earlier crawling its way back up my neck.
“I-that’s not the point. The point is, why me?”
“You should have a little more confidence in yourself,” Seungcheol grinned. I laughed lightly, shoving his shoulder gently. It was annoyingly firm with muscle.
“I have confidence. I just know how it is, that’s all,” I stared at my fidgeting hands, the plastic of the chips bag crinkling loudly. The sound was interrupted as Seungcheol grasped my hands with his own, turning his knees so he was facing me entirely. I looked up and tried to smooth my face into a neutral expression.
“Listen, I know your sister is the one everyone else wants. But you’re the one I want. I mean that sincerely. And if you feel the same way, or even if you would just consider trying things out with me, it would make me so happy. You are everything that I want,” he sighed softly, his round eyes looking at me intently.
I smiled, unable to school my expression any longer and nodded.
“Yes. Yes, I’d like that. To go out with you, I mean. I…” I took a deep breath, gathering every bit of bravery I had, “I like you too.”
Seungcheol beamed, his hands squeezing mine once before letting them go. I shoved them under my legs before I could embarrass myself for reaching for him again.
“Good. That’s…that’s good. Great,” he amended, and I chuckled. We smiled in silence as the afternoon sun continued to warm us from above, and I felt particularly shiny that day in a way that was different from my sister at the prospect of what was to come.
Hello! I found your blog and it’s my new obsession. Like, Hiding in the bathroom during work to read your fics.
Anyways can I please request something?
Poly!mikaelson’s x vampire reader where the reader gets kidnapped and tortured to the point she doesn’t recognize when they come to save her and passes out and once they get her home they wait for her to wake and have to calm her down because she freaks out. Maybe one of them even gives her their blood to help her heal because she was seriously injured? I’m a sucker for your angst fics. I turned on notifications for you cause I love your blog so much!
Hands down you have some of the best angst fics for this fandom/ship. 💜💜💜
Aww thank you 🥰 I'mma about make this so angsty
Warnings: angst like all of the angst, fluff in the end
You had been missing for the last two weeks having been taken by Aurora out of jealously she held for you since you were seeing Klaus. The Mikaelsons were waging war against Aurora to get you back which Tristan was angry with his sister as half of the Strix was dead in Elijah's rage coupled with Klaus and Kol slaughtering others. Lucien had heard what happened and wisely stayed out of it not wanting to be caught in the crossfire.
You panted laying on the floor of the room Aurora kept you and you could have run if you weren't weak from not feeding and the vervain in your system. You were so tired and in pain and already have gave up on the hope of your lovers would save you.
"You know I am surprised you are still with them. After all you are just a toy I mean Kol has that witch Davina, Rebekah with Marcel then Elijah with that werewolf girl, Hayley."
This had been Aurora's new way of tormenting you by telling you the Mikaelsons didn't care for you. You let out a silent scream as your vocal cords was shot when Aurora stabbed you with a dagger dipped in vervain.
"Poor little old Y/N. Why would they choose a weak baby vampire of three years." Aurora mocked as you layed there feeling weak and ready to die as you couldn't take the pain. To you the older vampire had won having been in a cycle of pain of two weeks.
"Aurora, your brother wants to speak with you." You heard Aya tell Aurora and she dropped your head. Listening to them leave as you curled into yourself hurting and giving up.
"Where is she?" You swore you heard Klaus's voice as the sounds bodies dropping and screams rang out as the questioning thought was it really then enter your mind as you passed out. Elijah growled lowly when he found you gently and carefully picked you up.
"You found her." Kol said eyes narrowing seeing the state you were in as Rebekah rushed over.
"She'll need blood, let's get her out of here then deal with Aurora." Elijah said calmly as he was angry and Klaus joined them frowning seeing how hurt you where. They got you home and Elijah washed you frowning seeing the wounds you had and dressed you.
"Let me give her blood." Rebekah said biting her wrist as Elijah tilted your head back as Rebekah gave you her blood.
"I don't understand how Hayley could allow Y/N to be taken." Kol growled looking at you as you were slowly healing even while Kol and Rebekah was taking turns to feed you their blood.
"From what she told Marcel was that they took Jackson too. She didn't think Jackson would survive."
"No Y/N wouldn't. She has only been a vampire for three years." Rebekah tells Elijah as Kol was feeding you more of his blood. It took a day for you to wake up and your scream woke your lovers and Elijah wrapped his arms around you.
"Shhhh sweetling, you're safe, your home." Elijah whispered in your ear holding you tightly as you calmed down panting flinching away when Elijah kissed your temple. Elijah frowned when you pushed yourself away from him.
"Don't Kol, she is panicked." Elijah said softly stopping Kol from run to you as he got off your bed. Your breathing was shallow as memories were piecing themselves together while you climbed back in bed.
"How is she?" Rebekah asked when she walked up hearing your screaming Kol was frowning.
"Panicked. What do we do 'Lijah?"
"Let her process what happened and that she is safe." Elijah says softly watching you curl up into a ball. Klaus growled lowly pacing as three days passed you were doing better but didn't allow your lovers to touch you that wasn't platonic then there were moments you would flinch seeing blood or any knifes and daggers.
"I'm going to kill Aurora."
"No Nik. She is my first Sired, let me." Rebekah growled as Elijah sat thinking, you weren't feeding making them slip blood in your drinks. You weren't sleeping well waking up from nightmares and refusing them to comfort you.
"Aurora will die but we need to focus on our little vamp." Kol said worried about you watching you with Camille. You were smiling but it didn't reached your eyes.
"Nightmares I understand but pushing us away?"
"Maybe let her go?" They turned their heads seeing Hayley standing there arms crossed.
"Hayley." Klaus growled a warning as she rolled her eyes looking at Elijah.
"Look clearly she is a lost cause so stick her somewhere were she isn't a bother. The first Sired needs to be taken care of and you guys are too busy taking care of Y/N."
"No we won't abandon her!"
"Rebekah is right Hayley. She needs us also Tristan is in hiding with Aurora worried we are knocking on his door."
"Which we are." Klaus said as you walked back in with Camille rushing back up to your bedroom not looking at the Mikaelsons.
"How is she, Camille?"
"Honestly? A reck, Aurora did a number on her. Just don't give up on her, Aurora told her some nasty things."
"Thank you Camille." Elijah said as the human nodded then sent Rebekah up to you first.
"You guys know she won't be the same right?"
"Of course but she'll be stronger like a Phoenix." Klaus said smirking. Later that night you had another nightmare and Rebekah stood at door.
"Sweetheart?"
"Beka." You rasped out holding your arms out to her as Rebekah was quick to pull you against her as for the first time since you been back you let out a heart retching sob.
"Shhhhh I' m here I am not going anywhere, beautiful." Rebekah cooed softly as you nodded still crying when Kol came in unable to take your cries. To their surprise you let Kol hold you as you rolled over clinging to him.
Then scent of nutmeg and lavender with warm vanilla filled your senses you know the scents belonged to Kol and Rebekah. It brought comfort as you finally felt safe as you buried yourself in their arms.
"Rebekah? Kol?" Freya whispered finding them in your room she got teary eyed seeing you nuzzled up to Rebekah as Kol had his face pressed against your back.
"Freya? Something wrong?"
"Look Elijah." Freya whispered as he looked into your bedroom his eyes softened as his heart swelled with joy seeing you seeking comfort finally.
They found Aurora and while Elijah took care of Tristan. Aurora was left in the mercy of Klaus, Rebekah and Kol which the three showed Aurora just why most didn't dare get near you.
"Did you kill her?" Elijah asked seeing his all too pleased siblings.
"Oh no. We sealed her away in a wall making her believe there will be a point in time that we will kill her.
"I see. Just how did you do this ?"
"Compelled her. Rebekah made her believe that I was coming to save her. Klaus said smirking as Elijah smiled.
"Ah. Better than me dumping Tristan in the ocean." Elijah says smirking as they now shift their attention on you and taking out Lucien.
You stood outside of Klaus's bedroom and stepped inside while Rebekah Kol was great but you missed your wolf.
"Nik?"
"Oh. Love come here." Klaus said half asleep as you rushed into his arms. You drowned yourself in his scent of old paint with the under tone was warm spice.
"Nik."
"Shhhh love don't cry. You're still weak, you'll get sick." Klaus said softly as you hummed a quiet okay. You sighed nuzzling into his neck while he rubbed your back and for the first night since you gotten back you got to sleep without nightmares.
You were doing better more and more each day finally feeding and allowing your lovers touch and cuddle you as you weren't ready for intimacy. But you still stayed away from Elijah until the others left for a night to find out what Lucien was up to.
Your scream rang out waking Hayley and Elijah. The scent of pine, bourbon and spices as one thought rang through your head....Elijah.
"Shhh baby. I'm here you're safe." Elijah whispered in your ear waiting for you to push him away but was surprised when you rolled over latching on to him.
"Eli. I was doing so well. You must think I'm weak." You said weakly as he just held you closer kissing your head rubbing your back.
"No no baby. I don't think you're weak. You have been so strong." Elijah whispered squeezing you gently.
"But I trying to be stronger for you.... like Hayley." You tell him as it clicked for Elijah why you hadn't came to him like you did the others.
"Baby, I don't want you like Hayley. Strong or not I love you and wish you would need me too."
"I always need you. I love you too." You whispered relaxing in him hold as he lulled you back to sleep. Later that night the others joined you two surrounding you with warmth and love as you finally felt safe and at home.
𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐤𝐲𝐮𝐮 𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐝𝐬 !
haikyuu as dads!
find the mha version here - bnha as dads !
content: fluff, the boys with children. mentions pregnancy. aged up!
characters: bokuto, daichi, sugawara, lev, and kuroo.
a/n: i’ve been feeling very soft and even though i don’t even really like kids lol, this prompt make me so warm and happy :’) keep in mind that I’m not super far into haikyuu, so i don’t know a lot about the timeskip- sorry !! also a bit messy and unorganized.
so without further ado, here are some soft scenarios and headcanons for each :D
bokuto !
Pleaseeee, we all know he’d be such a good dad!!
You’re tired? Don’t worry, he can watch them while you rest!
Can and WILL play with them for hours.
And of course, he has the energy to keep them preoccupied. This man has more energy than I ever will on 2 cups of coffee with 3 shots of espresso in each.
Mans probably would want a bigger family, but of course as long as you were fine with it.
Thinking maybe 3+. He just wants to have that big family to share with you :’) aww
When you’re pregnant, he’s all over you. Protective to the point of it being a little overwhelming, but he means well.
Pokes your belly a little. Not harshly, but in a loving, gentle way.
“That’s my baby. Right in there.”
Probably cries a little when your baby bump shows.
More so during your first pregnancy, but he still holds that same emotion with the others.
He does NOT know what to do the first time.
“THEY’RE CRYING, Y/N WHAT DO WE DO??”
When the kid/s start getting older, oh lord. He’s such a sucker for them.
Probably gives them ice cream or sneaks candy when you aren’t in the room, even though IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR BED.
I’m sorry, but he cannot and will not be able to help with homework. I’m sorry but it’s true.
If your kid/s have a passion, he’s 100% for it.
Dance? He’ll go to all of the recitals he can make. Volleyball? Even better. Writing? He’ll sit in front of them and have them read it out to him like it’s a bedtime story.
I don’t think he’d be a good cook, so whenever he takes over for dinner, everyone is like “Oh no. Dad’s cooking again.”
Overall, 100/10 dad. Supportive, and does his best. Good boyo <3
daichi !
I think he’d be a good dad too :D
He was kind of just a natural father, so it’s expected.
I think that he originally wanted to bring up the topic of kids to you at some point, but he was hesitant since he didn’t know if you were ready.
So of course, you beat him to the conversation.
He’s very happy that you want to start a family too. :)
I think he’d want a smaller family, maybe 1-2 kids.
When you test positive, he’s kind of in shock for a moment.
“We’re going to have a kid-”
Like duh lmao he put it in you
Definitely calls Suga up to tell him the news.
Is actually very interested in shopping for a baby. He needs a few pointers but he’s got the enthusiasm, so A for effort bby
He’s decently used to having a small child running around him screaming, he had little siblings so yeah
Has a bit more structure than bokuto, but he’s still able to break.
He’d do damn near anything for his kid/s.
He has his moments where he wants to spend alone time with just you.
Decent homework helper, but I feel like he’d be that one parent who goes “This wasn’t how I was taught to do this”, or “Why did they change that??”
Again again, supportive dad.
But also supportive of you <3
sugawara !
Being a teacher, he’s surrounded by kids all the time.
Basically, he is also used to having screaming children within his vicinity
I could never omg how do you do that Suga
At first he didn’t put much thought into a family, he and you were content just the two of you. Also. CHILDREN HE TEACHES.
But something just switches in his brain, probably after he had a really wholesome moment with a student, or maybe even just witnessing a parent + student interaction.
He’s like, “I kind of want that..”
Another small fam kinda guy <3
Suga brings it up, and you’re all for it, you’ve been wanting to start a family with him.
He’s so excited and happy!! oml :’)
Like, he finally gets to start a whole new chapter of your lives together he hadn’t really thought about until now.
When you get a baby bump, he plants soft kisses to your tummy and talks gently to it.
My heart ksjshd
This will be a nightly occurrence now.
He is reading all those articles for raising kids. He’s also at your beck and call, even the baby’s.
He just wants everything for the baby, they end up being a huge daddy’s kid.
Late nights after the kid/s go to bed is prime time for you both.
You enjoy being together after a long day, you snuggle up together in your bed, maybe drink some wine later.
PLEASE. Breakfasts in bed. He and the kid/s will TOTALLY MAKE YOU B in B.
So proud of your kid/s. Has pictures in frames on his desk at school, and when his students ask, he has plenty of stories to tell.
Knows when something is off. Like, he can just tell-
Kid is sad? He’s there. Tissues, ice cream, take them out somewhere.
Probably a teaser.
You already know he gets himself and that kid/those kids into mischief.
“Shhh, don’t tell mom!”
He has deep conversations with them. He cares a lot.
He just loves them <3
10/10
kuroo !
it’ssss kuroo time babyyy
He definitely wanted kids. Strikes me as the guy who just knew, as soon as you got married.
When that test came up positive, he had a dorky smirk on his face.
He’s very proud to know you will have his kid.
This dude is always checking up on you. Morning sickness? He’s there to hold your hair back.
Feeling clingy or upset? Wraps his arms around you.
Lazy pats on your stomach when it’s late.
Why does he seem like he’d play mozart around you because he read somewhere that fetsuses liked that
Sir please we don’t need to listen to Alla Turca (Allegretto) for 12 hours straight
He’s 100000/10 homework helper. Mans is smart af, it’s not even surprising.
“I forgot how smart you were”
“Shut up”
You both are probably so mushy with each other that your kid/s are like “Ew gross”
He encourages and pushes them to do their best.
Helps them find what they’re passionate about. <3
Dad jokes. I’m serious.
“Please stop, dad!”
“One more, one more-”
Enjoys making them suffer with terrible jokes.
In a nice way of course.
lev !
saved the funny one for last!
Okay maybe not super funny, but I had fun writing this
He and you did NOT plan to get pregnant. At ALL.
“Lev the test is positive”
“Wh-WHAT?”
Promptly falls off of chair.
Like this dude was not ready for that information
Tbh he would make even me anxious about it
“..do I have to give them the talk?”
Lev please it hurts me
As soon as he gets used to it though, he’s excited like he usually is.
But this is different. This is a whole HUMAN.
“Do you think I’ll be a good dad, Y/N?”
“Do you want me to be honest?”
Jkjk that was a joke.
I think Lev has the potential to be a good dad. He’s energetic, passionate and dumb, but in a good way <3
Sorry again, no homework help with him LMAO
Your kid will probably be tall. Or at least average height.
After the original surprise pregnancy, he wants to try again but when you both are actually ready.
He would totally take these kids out everywhere. A show off dad for sure
“Hey, did you know my kid did xyz?”
“Look, here’s a picture!”
Lev we get it you love your kids
He would love to have a volleyball loving kid I feel like, but he wouldn’t be too disappointed if they didn’t like it. Would probably propose other sports though, he always loved playing himself, even if it was only volleyball so he wants them to have the same good experiences
If he’s watching the kids while you’re shopping, he doesn’t really know how the first few times- even though you left him A LIST.
Probably then calls his friends up for advice
If it comes down to it...consults WikiHow
and that’s it!! hope you enjoyed, some were harder to write but yk what- i had fun :D as much as i am suga brainrot i literally had a hard time writing his section :’(
but anyways yuh B)
asks/requests are open ! check yay’s and nay’s in basics for this blog !
When Viatrix Falters, Viator Comes to Aid. Such is the way of the Twins of Via.
Author’s Note: So. I was watching Genshin Impact’s Archon Quests and. was looking through fanart of such events and. I have THOUGHTS. that I tried to put into this fic.
Is this completely self-indulgent? Oh you can bet anything it is. I am a sucker for Aether and Lumine’s relationship in Genshin. The ANGST-TO-FLUFF POTENTIAL HERE YA’LL. I WANT MORE OF IT AND LIKE. SOON.
So, here’s this no comfort Angst fic that came out of my feels I guess. I’m going to be doing Lumine as the Traveler, since I have a better grasp of her personality then Aether’s currently. Maybe when I finally understand Aether’s personality, I’ll write this fic but for Aether. We’ll see.
Warnings: This Fic Contains Spoilers for Genshin Impact’s Archon Quests Up Until Archon Quest Interlude Chapter Perilous Trial! So, if you’re playing Genshin or ever plan on it, I would not suggest it since I think it’s the closest thing we get to the main plot (I think from all the people tagging it as spoilers. But honestly Genshin confuses me and what’s the plot and what’s side content due to how linked they are with each other [which I both love and hate at the same time]. Either that or I’m actually stupid.) But if you don’t care for spoilers and want that sibling angst shit, never plan on playing the game, or already know the spoilers, well. Ignore me.
Also you could interpret Abyss!Aether as Yandere for his sister here, I guess? I was re-reading this and I guess the fic could be seen that way. I meant to write Abyss!Aether as a man whose seen some shit and honestly cares for nobody else but his sister anymore because he's so broken from the things he's seen-since that’s the general impression I got from Abyss!Aether when I was watching through the twins interacting. But since this could be seen as Yandere, for those who aren’t into that or just don't want Aether being that way for Lumine even if it's just an interpretation you could get from this-I would not recommend this fic for you.
Lumine laid awake in the tent she was in, Paimon had long fell asleep after the meal she’d had. Paimon never really stayed awake that long after meals; while Lumine, on the other hand, could not sleep.
She hadn’t been able to sleep for the past few days, actually.
After all, how do you sleep when you find the person you’re looking for told you they’re not going with you?
Sure, the people she knew upon hearing this offered sympathy and comfort to her. But, the sympathy wasn’t genuine. It wasn’t hard to see they were also keeping there distance from her.
How could they not? Aether was a part of the Abyss Order for goodness’ sake.
Who would see her positively now that they knew her brother was behind such horrible acts that put nations in danger?
Aether was trying to destroy the world and for what? Nobody really seemed to know, but that didn’t stop them from looking at Lumine with eyes of suspicion, eyes of caution, eyes of anger, eyes of pity-Like she was a part of the Abyss Order or an example of how cruel the world was.
And frankly, Lumine was getting tired of trying to prove she didn’t need it. Their sympathy, their pity, their anger-it was tiring to dispel those looks.
Day in and day out-Do you know how tiring it is to try and prove yourself over and over again to people when they won’t even look at you without those looks?
And on top of everything there is people who knew about Aether, but they said nothing about it to her. Nothing.
Why?
Why didn’t anyone say anything? Not even a hint to help her out?
Didn’t she deserve the truth?
Why does she have to be kept in the dark about everything?
Was it because she’s not strong enough?
Was it because they looked down on her?
Lumine didn’t know, and honestly, she didn’t care at the moment.
The Honorary Knight of Mondstadt, Honored Guest of the Liyue Qixing of Liyue and of the Tri-Commission of Inazuma and Former Captain of the Watusumi Army-The titles means nothing if she didn’t even want them in the first place. The search for her brother got her these titles and now they felt empty.
These thoughts aren’t good. Lumine thought to herself, looking out the window of the tent. Hopefully taking a walk will clear my head and help me sleep tonight.
So, she set out for a quick walk, hoping it would clear her mind.
Though, Lumine was not expecting the walk to get her so lost.
It rained really hard, forcing Lumine into an area she’d never been in before to seek shelter. And with the rain still going on outside, there was no way she could go back to camp now. So, all she could do was venture deeper inside, in hopes to find a safe spot to settle down the dry her clothes, even for a little while until the rain passed.
But, unfortunately, fate was not as kind as Lumine had hoped as she ventured and eventually got lost in the cave and it’s tunnels to where Lumine wasn’t even sure how to get out of this forsaken cave.
The tunnels winded and stretched almost impossible lengths, and every time Lumine turned a corner, there was only more and more cave. This shouldn’t even be possible and if it was, why wasn’t this marked?
When would this end---?
Suddenly, the world was pulled out from under her, and Lumine fell to the ground and in the process got a scrap on her legs.
And, after Lumine looked at her legs, trying to get up and failing to do so, Lumine started to sob into the ground, stopping what she was doing.
“It hurts. It hurts.” Lumine cried into the empty cave, as she struggled to get up. Not of the injury, but rather of her own mind giving up. “I don’t want this. I want to go back home. I want to leave. Anywhere not here! Aether. Aether. Where are you? I want to go home. Aether! Where are you Aether? Please, I just want go home! Please. Please-”
Lumine cried into the empty cave as she struggled to deal with her emtions, but it seems her cries where not unheard, as nearby Hilicurls seemed attracted by the Traveler’s cries.
The creatures stared at the mighty Traveler crying to herself, unsure of what to do. They didn’t seem to be waiting for anything-The Hilicurls seemed to be staring at the girl in pity, as if deep down they understood the feeling Lumine felt. So, Lumine cried her feelings away until she eventually tired herself out and fell asleep in the cave out of exhaustion. The Hilicurls then picked up the unconcious girl and moved her to one of their camps nearby and placed her in a pile of straw nearby a fire-Giving Lumine somewhere safe and comfortable to rest, at least.
Not long after Lumine was brought into a Hilicurl camp-An Abyss Mage came into the camp seeming to want to speak with the Hilicurls-But upon seeing the Traveller in a pile of straw, the mage approached her sleeping body.
The Abyss Mage head twitched in confusion as it looked at its’ Prince’s sibling-resting. Not well, from the look on her face.
The creature poked the kin of the Prince-only for the girl to curl into herself and weep in pain and the Hilicurls nearby seeming to react, trying to soo away the mage. The Abyss Mage then spoke with the Hilicurls which seemed to calm down the creatures-and disappeared off somewhere.
Lumine, where did you go? Aether thought to himself with his counsel, as he’d gotten a report from one of his Heralds that was keeping an eye on Lumine, only for her to go missing in a pretty bad rainstorm. “Where was the last place you saw her before the rainstorm hit?”
“Around the mountainside your Highness,” The Herald said. “While she did have her. . . weapon of choice with her,” The Herald said, as if displeased with Lumine’s weapon choice. “She was not holding it, so I can assume she was not looking to fight, like she has the past few days. She seemed merely to be trying to tire herself out.”
“How did she look?” Aether asked.
“She grows weaker by the day.” The Herald said. “She looked about to fall dead.”
“Do you think that. . . thing. . .she travels with is finally draining her?” A Electro Lector asked, growling at the mention of the ‘thing’. “I thought it would wait longer.”
“Quite low of that thing to do it now.” Another Lector added. “Well, at least the Prince’s kin is away from the disgusting creature now, hopefully it stays that way.”
“Your Highness, I suggest we look for her.” A Pryo Lector suggested. “While she is capable of handling herself, she is not in condition-”
“Your Highness.” An Mage appeared in the room, bowing before the Prince, and only the Prince it seemed.
“What is it?” The Herald growled at the mage, pretty upset he’d been interrupted by a lowly mage.
“Let them speak.” Aether said, and the Herald bowed curtly, “What is it? Do you have an update about something?”
“No, your Highness, your kin-they are in the nearby hilicurl camp.”
Aether’s eyes widened, before he seemed to calm himself. Aether’s counsel, on the other hand, did not seem as calm as Aether was. “Where?”
“Forgive me Prince, I’m not sure how-”
“We’ll deal with that later.” Aether sighed. “How close is she and how does she look?”
“She’s in the tunnel system, my Prince. Your kin seemed to have gotten lost in it, and is quite hurt. The Hilicurls have taken a liking to her.”
Aether sighed, as he got up. “Fine, show me where she is.”
“As you wish, my Prince.” The Lectors, the Herald and the Mage said, almost in prefect unison.
When Aether had gotten to Lumine, it seemed the hilicurls in the camp went somewhere else, leaving Aether with the mage, and the loyal Herald at Prince's side.
“Thank you, you may leave now.” Aether said to the mage, and the mage quickly took its’ leave.
Aether kneeled down in front of his sister-Just from the energy he felt from her Lumine was very weak, indeed, as his Herald has said, she was in no position to be travelling around. And yet, here she was, laying on the bed of straw. She always was the foolish one.
“Your Highness, she’s bleeding.” The Herald pointed out, pointing to Lumine’s legs, which had a puddle of blood around her legs.
“Indeed. Bandage them.” Aether commanded, and the Herald bowed before disappearing somewhere.
“Ah. You’ve pushed yourself again Lumine.” Aether chuckled, half-heartedly towards his sister, even reaching out a hand to inspect her. “You always said to not push myself, and here to you are. You’ve always been a hypocrite, you know that?”
Lumine didn’t respond, and Aether looked at his sister in silence-She was so fragile now.
Aether was so used to seeing his sister from the shadows running around with the people she’d met with such energy and a smile on her face that it made Aether energic just from watching-he remembered when she’d always try to smile for him back then when they were trying to leave Teyvat all those years ago, even when it was hard. Aether knew what he asked of her back when they last saw each other was harsh-especially since she was so lost in a world she didn’t understand and was often wondering around like a baby chicken with the people around often being of no help despite his direct intervention, but the Prince never realized his sister was so fragile to this degree. He thought she was made of marble-and here he saw her cracking at the seams.
Though, he couldn’t blame his sister for her cracking under pressure. Those people around her are so demanding of her-without so much thanks to give her back but empty words. Fate was cruel to her, as fate was to him. He remembered his own journey- it was long and there were often days he didn’t want to get up or do anything. And yet, he got through it, despite how hard it was and here he stands, right in front of his sister.
Maybe. . . Maybe it would be fine if she just. Got away for them for a while. Aether thought. They’ve taken so much from her, that she has nothing left now. She needs a recharge. . . just for a few days. They won’t care if it’s just a few days and she won’t remember if I just. Use some magic. Yeah. Yeah, that should work.
Aether picked up his sister-She was so light. She hadn’t eaten, either? She was worse than he thought.
“Your Highness?” The Herald asked, and he’d come back with bandages.
“She cannot sleep out here. It is not safe. I am taking to her one of the safe havens, we shall treat her there.” Aether said.
“As you wish.” The Herald said, as Aether opened a portal to the unknown.
Lumine slowly opened her eyes to a dark room. It wasn’t dark as the cave she was in, as there seemed to be light in the form of. . . Stars?
Lumine slowly got up. Yes, it looked like the light source of the room was stars in a galaxy like room. The bed she was in seemed-familiar. Like she’d slept in it before, actually, so did the rest of-
“Lumine.” A voice Lumine thought she won’t hear again said, and Lumine turned, and there stood her brother Aether with a warm smile on his face.
“Aether?” Lumine asked, and Aether simply sat on Lumine’s bed before taking Lumine’s body and hugging her. The hug was tight, like if Aether let go, he would lose his only family.
“I’m glad you woke up. I was getting worried. Come on, Ms.-I-Must-Rest-All-Night-or-Else, I made breakfast for us.” Aether smiled as he pulled away, trying to laugh off the situation, it seemed.
Breakfast? Lumine thought, and then her head stung pretty badly.
Ah. That’s right. Breakfast.
We’re. . .
home. . .
now. . . ?
“Lumine! Are you okay? Does you head hurt again?” Aether asked, craddling Lumine’s head is his hands.
“Y-Yeah.” Lumine stuttered out, which seemed to make Aether more concerned, leading him to let go and pull Lumine unto his back.
“It’s alright. I’ll walk us to the kitchen. Don’t move, or you’ll pass out again.” Aether smiled, as he lifted the two of them up and began to walk.
"Pass. . . Out?" Lumine asked, as Aether guided the two of them through a hallway of galaxies with lanterns lighting the way.
"You're pushing yourself again." Aether simply said, laughing as if it was something common Lumine did. "You've been working too hard these past few days because I was sick. But I'm fine now."
Sick. . . ?
Sick.
That's right. . . Aether was sick. But he's fine now.
"There we go." Aether smiled as he placed his sister down on a sofa, and brought her a bowl of soup. Aether then sat down next to his sister-with a another bowl of soup in his hands, and he started to eat it. After Lumine stared for a little while, she began to eat. It was. . . Warm. And tasted. . . Familiar. Like something she hadn’t had in a long time.
"Is it good?" Aether asked curiously, which earned a nod from Lumine. "Thank goodness. I was worried I didn't follow the recipe right."
"Aether?"
"Yes?" Aether stopped eating his food, making him look like a chipmunk trying to stuff nuts in it’s mouth.
"Where. . . Where are we. . .?" Lumine asked, pretty seriously.
"Home. We're home Lumine. Did you forget?" Aether said, lightheartedly.
Lumine paused after studying her brother, he wasn’t acting off. . . But. Why did she still feel uneasy? "Y-Yeah. Sorry."
"It's fine. Rest, sister. Everything's going to be fine now!" Aether smiled, as he finished eating his food and cleaned up after himself.
Lumine. . . Wasn't so sure Aether was telling the truth.
Aether went to move wash the dishes, and Lumine watched him. He was. . . Different. Despite the smile he just gave. . . He moved slower, more deliberately than she remembered.
“Lumine, you’re staring again.” Aether smiled, snapping Lumine out of her thoughts. “What, you want a hug or something?”
Lumine shook her head. “Sorry. I’m . . . Not hungry. My head still hurts.”
“Really?” Aether sighed, stopping what he was doing and walking up to Lumine. “If it hurts this much, I suppose I’ll have to try some magic.”
“Magic?”
“Yeah, I learned some while you were asleep. Come here.” Aether smiled warmly, and kissed his sister’s forehead gently. and instantly, the confusion that clouded Lumine’s mind went away, as if Aether had pushed a fog away and it suddenly hit Lumine where she was.
She was. . . Home. With Aether.
Away from an awful place. . . And that’s all that mattered, really.
“Pffft.” Lumine asked, laughing to herself. “What was that?”
“A kiss. Duh.” Aether said, playfully.
“Then that was not magic. You just wanted some kisses.” Lumine poked her brother’s cheek.
“Well, you’ve been sick, do you blame me?” Aether poked her opposite cheek back.
“I thought you’d be worse.” Lumine smugly smirked.
“Hey!” Aether said, seeming rather embarrassed.
“I’m joking, I’m joking Aether.” Lumine laughed, taking away her hand off Aether’s face.
“Hmmmph.” Aether pouted, pulling his hand away. “I was worried about you, you idiot.”
“Well of course. I have to take care of you.” Lumine smirked.
Aether sighed at that comment, before smirking himself. “Since you’re fine now, we can finally start exploring again.”
“Noooooooooo.” Lumine sighed. “Not today. It’s already late.”
“Fine, fine. Tommorow.” Aether said. “We need to start exploring tommorow.”
“Yeah! Let’s just hang out!” Lumine said. “Come on! We haven’t had a break in a while!”
“Fine, fine, who knew you’re so demanding.”
For the days went by fast-Aether would admit that.
Certainly different then what he normally does back in Teyvat, as for the most part all he really had to do was entertain his sister for a few hours by exploring the area in the Chasm he’d craved out for this reason, she’d be happy for a while, they’d rest and they’d start exploring again.
Aether admitted. . . This was. . . Nice.
He was so used to being so far away from her that being close to his own sister made him feel strange despite the fact they used to be so close all of them time.
Back when Lumine with. . . what even was that thing. . . a floating child. . . ? . . . Aether couldn’t come very close to her without alerting her. So he’d often stand back from a distance, like during the Lantern Rite he’d watched Lumine release her lanterns and took it for himself for a while before letting it go in. He’d seen Lumine’s wish during the Inazuman Summer Festival-It broke his heart to see her still wish for him.
Sometimes his Herald would come to update him on what’s going outside-It seemed Lumine’s aquientances where starting to get too antsy about Lumine’s disappearance. They weren’t even close to figuring out who was behind it-rather the search was going to everywhere, and getting dangerously close to the Chasm.
Aether knew this day would come and yet. . . Why does his heart feel so heavy?
Aether knew he was delaying the ineventable-He would have to let Lumine go.
But. . . He didn’t want to.
Lumine. . . Was right here. With him. Like they’d promised.
Sure, Lumine’s companions where looking for her. . . but they could look everywhere and Aether would never give her up. Lumine isn’t theirs. Lumine is his sister. They don’t understand how long he’s waited. . . How long
Oh no. Aether looked in horror as he realized what was happening to him. This. . . This isn’t healthy. . .
But. . . No!
I need to let her go! Now!
Or. . .
Or. . . !
Aether watched as his sister search the area, she currently was searching from glowing stone to stone-And he’d never felt so. . .Scared.
“Lumine. . .” Aether said carefully, walking towards his sister, only for her to turn around.
“Yeah, Aether?” Lumine smiled with arms full of stones and flowers she’d collected-That she meant to bring home.
“Let’s go home. I’m not feeling so well.”
Lumine nodded, “Oh, alright.”
After a few more days, Aether had decided it was finally time let his sister go so he won’t hog her forever, placing her resting body in an abandoned village not far from the Chasm. But upon placing his sister in the bed and placing a blanket, Aether’s heart ached once more.
“I love you, Lumine. I’ll always be here for you.” Aether smiled, as he started to cry, leaving tears on his sister's face. “I’m sorry.”
And Aether disappeared into the night of Teyvat.
ATLA Fic Rec
because I've been spending way too much time reading it. Btw, this is a rec for gen fics and zukka fics.
Note: an asterisk after the description means that the fic or series is incomplete. (Sadly, this is a lot of them, but I'm pretty sure most of these fics are still currently updating.)
GEN:
Anything by MuffinLance is a must-read. my personal favourites are Salvage (where Hakoda ends up with one (1) grumpy new prisoner/crewmate/adopted son) and Little Zuko v the World (where Zuko is 12, and it's adorable).
The Family You Choose by TunaFishChris is a god-tier platonic soulmate au about zuko and the gaang, so like...go read that right now
The kintsugi series by discordiansamba is an AU where Toph's parents hire Zuko-as-Lee to be a bodyguard for her, and I love it so much. It has some of the best Toph-and-Zuko sibling bonding I've ever seen. *
Dragon Moon by Satirrian is a Dragon! Zuko AU and it's incredible. It also features Bounty Hunter Zuko, so do with that what you will. *
The What We're Given series by Haicrescendo is *chef's kiss*. It's an AU where Zuko flipped his father off early on into his banishment and started living his best life with Iroh. Enter the Gaang. Shenanigans ensue. *
The Internment series by Hannahmayski is another Zuko breaks free from his dad early AU, and it's also really good. Basically, Zuko was never given the option to capture the Avatar, making his banishment indefinite. He sails around with his crew fighting the Fire Nation and it's great. *
The best way to solve your problems (is to help someone else) by hewwodarkness is an AU where kids start disappearing in Ba Sing Se during Book 2, and Zuko takes it upon himself to do a little vigilantism. It's fantastic. *
The Blue Spirit AU series by H_Faith_Marr is an AU starting from, surprise surprise, the Blue Spirit episode. The Gaang takes in Zuko without knowing who he is, and the Power of Friendship™ goes to work on Zuko. *
The the first rule of earth kingdom fight club... series by ohmygodwhy is an AU where Zuko, among other things, fights in underground cage matches, meets Toph early, and realises that his dad might be wrong. It’s pretty funny and really good. *
The The Non-Existent Twin series by FoiblePNoteworthy is hilarious. It's an AU where Zuko poses as his own twin, Li, and the Gaang buys it hook line and sinker. *
The Guilt (The Jet Adopts Zuko AU) series by FoiblePNoteworthy is also really good. Like the title says, it’s a Zuko joins the Freedom Fighters AU. *
The new ways series by blueseam is just a Zuko and the Gaang bonding fic, mostly set in the Western Air Temple, with a side of Zuko not taking care of himself and the Gaang stepping up to the job. If you’re like me and am an absolute sucker for Zuko and the Gaang, go read this.
The Family Matters series by WinterSky101 is a really good fic if you’re looking for Hakoda and Zuko. That’s all I have to say: Hakoda and Zuko.
a nation, held by snowdarkred is a GREAT Fire Nation & Zuko fic - set before and during canon, not after it. Go read it, right now.
Notable mentions: a lot of works by naggeluide are gen and pretty funny, though if you don't headcanon any of the characters as LGBT+ you might not like some of them.
ZUKKA:
anything by Haicrescendo and dickpuncher420. For Haicrescendo, my personal favourite is the Carry On For You series, and for dickpuncher420, it’s love language.
sirens & sleepless nights by Satirrian is a modern AU that just borders on dystopian. Ba Sing Se has been overtaken by the Fire Nation, Zuko is a soldier who broke away from the Fire Nation and got shot for it, and Sokka finds Zuko on the street and brings him inside. It’s amazing, go read it!
do you take this jerk to be (your one and only) by jatersade is a fic that I’m 90% sure is on every zukka fic rec list, and it deserves to be. It’s an arranged marriage AU where Zuko is engaged to Yue, and Sokka is his cultural guide. *
midnight runs and other things by isamagicdragon is a modern AU where Zuko keeps sleepwalking into Sokka’s apartment. Shenanigans ensue. Also, top-tier Zuko, Mai and Ty Lee interactions. *
Unchained Melody by avocadolove is another fic that I see a lot on rec lists, and it 100% deserves it. It’s a long fic (as of now, it’s at 63.8k) and is an AU where Sokka, after getting taken to the Spirit World by Heibai, ends up as a ghost that only Zuko can see. Ft. great enemies-to-friends-to-lovers and an incredible plot. *
Ozymandias, King of Kings by Think_of_a_Wonderful_Thought is SO good. It’s an AU where, instead of being banished, Zuko was sent to work in a coal mine/prison, which eventually becomes the target of a Water Tribe raid after Aang’s return. It can get pretty dark, so watch out for that, and it’s really long (as of now, 168.8k). But trust me, it’s worth it. *
Heart Beat Here by thefangirlingdead is an adorable Modern AU oneshot where Zuko, while shopping for engagement rings with Katara, freaks out when Sokka lies about where he is. It’s a happy ending, don’t worry. One of my favourite fics.
feels like we only go backwards by oldpotatoe and A Certain Slant of Light by JustGettingBy are both amnesia fics where Sokka loses his memory several years after the war. They’re both so, so good. A Certain Slant of Light is finished, but feels like we only go backwards is not.
reality strikes, so bring back the night by zukkababey is a time-travel oneshot where Western-Air-Temple Sokka wakes up in the future to find his older self married to one (1) Fire Lord Zuko. Fluffy and funny.
maybe i just see you (in everything) by epicbubbles is a really cute Modern AU oneshot with love confessions and just fluff all around. 10/10 go read it!!
it’s the illusion of separation by argentoswan is a fic that has legendary status and it absolutely deserves it. God-tier Modern AU where Sokka ends up working at the Jasmine Dragon alongside his former high school bully, Zuko. (Kind of) enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, and it’s just...SO good. *
say you like your shirt soggy by crosspin is a reallyyy nice 5+1 fic. It’s Modern AU, and it’s pretty short (3.7k), but the amount of yearning that gets packed into that 3.7k,,,,*chef’s kiss*
and they were roommates by flydunes is another Modern AU where sokka puts up an ad for a roommate. Zuko moves in, and Sokka gets a crush. It’s just good vibes all around :) *
like blood from a stone by catalinacat is a Soulmate AU that took a completely different direction with the soulmate trope. The summary does a better job of explaining it than I can. *
absence of heat, excess of destiny by theycallmesuperboy is one of the best soulmate AUs out there. it’s not too long, only 4.3k words, but it covers the entire series and then some. Seriously, go read this.
it isn’t strange, but it’s true by theholyterror is a 5+1 post-canon fic with some of the best pining I’ve ever seen, ft. Ambassador Sokka and Fire Lord Zuko. The 5+1 is times Zuko went out of his way to touch Sokka. *
like the sun inside of you by ofherlionheart is another post-canon fic, and it’s incredible so far. the first chapter alone is 23k, so it’s already a decently long read. *
the stemverse: earth science zuko au series by acezukos is a REALLY good Modern/University AU. So far, it only has one work (earth system history) but that work is already *chef’s kiss*. The series is incomplete, but earth system history is complete!
rebellion’s such a hushed affair by zeitgeistofnow is a fantastic Modern AU that, like sirens & sleepless nights, borders on dystopian. Actually, I think it is dystopian, but it hasn’t been tagged as such. Anyway, 10/10, go read it right now immediately
Mark Time by foil is a Modern AU where Sokka ghosted Zuko years ago, and they get brought back together by Aang and Katara’s wedding. It’s really good, but the fic has some pretty heavy content, so make sure you read the warnings. *
That birds would sing and think it were not night by HisMomoness is a Modern AU that has Zuko tutoring Sokka, with absolute top-tier pining. Like, seriously, the pining is insane. Superr good
this love burns so yellow (becoming orange and in its time, exploding) by meliebee is one of the best post-canon fics I’ve ever read. It features a civil war in the Fire Nation (that gets resolved about halfway through) and some great Toph and Zuko interactions, as well as some Grade A pining.
boy problems by burnt_oranges is FANTASTIC post-canon and has sokka and zuko in an accidental arranged marriage, plus some attempted assassinations. It’s great.
zuko vs the homie sexual agenda by parmigiano has Zuko and Sokka pining for each other in Ikea. Do I need to say more?
Friendship Bracelets by peachcitt is a Modern AU best friends to lovers. Pretty short (4.9k), but the pining is immaculate.
isn’t this the vision that you wanted by nebulastucky is INCREDIBLE, I read it recently because it just got completed and it’s *chef’s kiss*. It’s post-canon ft. mutual pining and some reallyyy good ‘and there was only one bed’ scenes.
Real Slow and no one knows anything but us by surveycorpsjean and quidhitch respectively are two of my favourite post-canon Ambassador Sokka and Fire Lord Zuko fics. Go check them out!
The Duke’s a Hazard by naggeluide is a really nice AU starting from the Western Air Temple, where the Duke decides that Sokka and Zuko are now his new parents. They bond over coparenting, and the (kind of) enemies-to-friends-to-lovers is really good. Plus, it’s funny.
Those Who Favor Fire by CSHfic and VSfic is a really good fic of the Spymaster Sokka AU. If you don’t know what that is, it’s an AU where Sokka fakes his death and goes undercover in an organisation that wants to kill Zuko.
Fics I added after posting (so far, all Zukka):
The Road Between Action and Inaction by Donvex is a fic that I can't believe I left out the first time?? It's a modern hitchhiking AU and it's great.
Rituals of the Ocean Floor by Donvex is a nice one too. It's only around 2.2k words, but it's a Fox Spirit!Zuko and Sharkman!Sokka AU, and I just really like the writing style.
by the stars above, i knew we were in love by theycallmesuperboy and The Fate of Nations in Our Hands by sapphic_ambitions are both top-tier post-canon fics. Be warned: by the stars above is a liiiittle bit angsty.
blue's clues by parmigiano is a really good Modern AU where Sokka, a university student journalist, gets ahold of the phone number of the Blue Spirit, a new campus vigilante. He ends up talking to the Blue Spirit to get an interview out of him, and it's really cute!
Honourable mention: the Avatar Zuko series by the_cloud_whisperer is one of the best series I've ever read, and it's really long - it got completed about a month ago, with 493.6k words in total (415k if you ignore the extra work made up of author's notes). It develops all the characters really well, especially Lu Ten, but the main ship is Zukaang. Personally, my biggest problem with Zukaang is the age difference, and Aang is aged up to be Zuko's age (or older, I think? I don't really remember) in this. I kept reading it because the plot was too good to give up, and I do highly recommend it, but yeah.
I’ll add more fics if I remember them, but this is what I had bookmarked. Also, shameless self plug here because I also write ATLA fic @ azenki on ao3
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five
_+_
Being back in the House of Lamentation was a little strange. After a few extra days at Diavolo’s in that admittedly larger bedroom than yours, Lucifer had taken you back home. He bid you a quick farewell, a single hug and hair ruffling with his smirk, before he said he had duties to attend to. And things seemed back to normal with that. It was a little anticlimactic but…
Home. This was your home. Lord Diavolo gave you, an Angel (and were you still technically one, without your halo? Only wings and some leftover magic?), permission to live in the Devildom. A place for Demons, not… you. He called you ‘family’. Even Barbatos, when leaving the Castle, had smiled at you and given you a happy goodbye and an invite to tea whenever you’d like.
“Your company is always welcome,” the demon butler had said.
You stood just outside your doorway, as if turning the handle would transport you somewhere else. Maybe this was a dream. It was all too surreal to have actually happened.
Once you were inside, barely two steps in the bedroom, an invisible weight lifted off you. This was where you spent your nights, either totally alone and at peace, or with your housemates to keep you company. Studying with Satan or reading a novel and talking about the characters while sitting in your bed, or watching DevilTube with Mammon and laughing at the rom-coms because he was a sucker for those. If Asmo came back late from a party or if he was lonely and needing cuddles, you both would stay up late gossiping about everyone, and you would hear funny stories about Solomon or the brothers. When Levi would come out of his cave, and bring his handheld games, and you would battle each other for hours (you usually won only a few times but it was still fun). Eating midnight snacks you and Beel snuck out from the kitchen, waking up with crumbs in your bed and a different demon boy in your bed, Belphie, who was cuddling you and mumbling in his sleep, warm and soft, like the twins had traded you off.
The only demon brother who never came in your room was Lucifer… That man was always in his own bedroom, up late doing paperwork or wandering around doing things for Diavolo. He overworked himself constantly.
You smiled, recalling the first time you had ventured in his bedroom at night to give him some coffee and poison apples to snack on. He was grateful for it, and he smiled with crinkles in his eyes and warmth radiating from him, and he thanked you. It was one of your best moments here, with him. A small one, but still perfect.
“You’re back!!”
You jumped in surprise as your legs were attacked and you very nearly fell over. Your train of thought vanished immediately. Looking down, then seeing the mop of blonde, you realized it was just Luke.
He was a sweet Angel, still learning and growing, and he had a heart of gold. Sometimes he was a bit sensitive to the demon brothers teasing (mostly Mammon’s). It was funny to watch him get all flustered and red-faced when that happened and insult back to the best he of his abilities.
“Hi Luke,” you greeted, returning his hug. “I’m happy to see you.”
He grinned up at you, head just reaching mid-level, his chin resting on your abdomen. “I missed you. Are you feeling better? Simeon told me everything and I’m so excited to hear you’re an Angel just like us! You have to tell me all about when you lived in the Celestial Realm, please?”
Simeon chuckled from behind Luke, tugging him away gently. “Let’s leave her alone while she gets settled back in, okay? We can visit another time. We came to see Lucifer.”
Luke pouted, but sighed and nodded. He took your hand and squeezed it once. “I want to hear all about it, okay?” he asked with determination.
That was Luke, always adamant and cute. You smiled and ruffled his hair, the youngest Angel huffing. “I promise I will, Luke.”
Simeon waved goodbye, shutting the door behind him, and that left you alone in your little room. You fell onto your bed face first and inhaled deeply, rolling on your side and clutching a pillow to your chest.
Now what would happen? Things seemed to be returning to normal, but would everything?
A knock. “Are you in there Angel girl?” Belphegor’s voice came through the door.
You were a little nervous to see him, but he was the last demon brother you’d thought you’d see first. Seeing as he was usually asleep somewhere.
But when you opened the door, it wasn’t only Belphie. It was all of the brothers, minus Lucifer, and they had wide silly smiles on their faces. And then they tackled you in hugs, squeezing you and overwhelming you with their tight holds and back rubs. You just laughed and let them, knowing they probably had been worried about you after all.
“Guys—please, guys stop! I can’t breathe,” you laughed, shoving at the arms and torsos around you. Once you were free, you stepped back and smiled. Seeing all of their happy faces had your insides twisting in joy. “I missed you guys so much, it’s good to see every one of you.”
Mammon spoke first. “Damn right! We’ve been totally freaked out about you. We-well, I-I mean, I haven’t been losing sleep or anything, but they all kept asking Lucifer where you were and when you’re gonna come back. Ch, losers.” His face was flushed when he finished. Why was this white-haired demon so damn cute when he was trying to not care, you would never know the reason.
“I lost no sleep,” Belphie stated.
You chuckled. Typical Belphegor. “Well, I am sorry for worrying everyone…” You frowned, and looked at the floor. There was that inner voice telling you that even if they were all here and hugging you, it was still possible for them to dislike you for lying, hiding this entire time. “But… You don’t… hate me?”
Asmo gasped. “No, dear, we don’t hate you at all! We love you!”
That made you tear up a little bit, and Asmo cooed and hugged you. Mammon grumbled and Asmo gave you one last squeeze then let you go. Your face was a little bit red but only from the embarrassment of nearly crying when being told you were loved.
“How could we hate you? You’re still you,” Beel said.
Satan agreed. “Yes, exactly. Only now you have wings and magic we didn’t know about. You’ll have to show us sometime, I’ve never seen an Angel’s wings in person, only in textbooks. It makes sense why your grades in Celestial History are on par with my own.”
You smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, well… only up until a certain point…”
Satan chuckled. “Yes, I suppose that is true. I do want to see your wings, but we were told you’re still healing so there’s no rush.”
“Yes, we want to see them too, darling~”
“The Great Mammon should get first look.”
Waving your hands to calm them down, you nodded and agreed. “Okay, I promise I’ll show you eventually. But like Satan said I do have to take it easy for a while.”
You were planning on going for a midnight fly session tonight, though… But that was a secret that you felt comfortable keeping, like a small white lie. Hopefully no one would find out.
There was one demon who hadn’t said a word, in fact he barely hugged you like the others did. Leviathan. He was quietly standing in the doorway, fidgeting on the balls of his feet, probably waiting for his turn to say something but too shy to speak up.
“Levi? Do you have anything you want to tell me?”
He jumped in surprise, but nodded after a moment. His face flushed and he fumbled with his hands, he usually did that when he didn’t have a phone or device in them. “I-I just want to say… Please don’t ever ever EVER leave us again. I don’t know what I’d do without my midnight gaming buddy. And, well, I just—I love you, okay? You’re my Henry and you aren’t allowed to leave like that!” He was flustered when he finished and avoided eye contact with everyone.
The other boys ‘aw’ed and you smiled in happiness. It was incredible to know that no one hated you for hiding this from them.
“I won’t ever leave you, Levi.”
That was a promise you hoped to keep. These 6 demon boys here were family, your own siblings, and you loved them and all of their weird quirks.
“Hm, I want to ask you something,” Beel’s voice rang out.
Oh no, this was it. The dreaded questioning. They would want to know everything, why you left, where you were, why you lied. And you didn’t know if you had to courage to speak up.
“How did we not remember you?”
Oh thank the Heaven’s. Good kind Beel, nothing bad ever seemed to come from him. Shoving the urge to sigh appreciatively out loud because that would cause actual questions that would be difficult to answer, you instead pondered the question. Would it be against Lucifer’s wishes? He never mentioned keeping it a secret from his brothers.
And so, you told them. About Michael and their memories being tampered with. And they were livid. So livid in fact, they all transformed into their demon forms. And your room was filled with infernal magic and wings and tails flickering. It was intense, but you knew it all came from a place of love. Even Satan, who had yet to be born at the time this happened, was upset, his green tail twisting around. In the tiny space, it was a lot.
Holding up your hand, hoping this calmed them down, you spoke softly, “Please relax everyone. I’m okay now. Simeon and Lucifer helped me. No one can hurt me here.”
“And… you’re staying?” Satan asked.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
They all relaxed, and changed back to their ‘human’ forms. You felt that you could breathe again.
The silence was tense, and you swallowed thickly, trying to think of something to say. Luckily, someone else did.
Asmo clapped his hands and exclaimed, “Let’s have a movie night! Popcorn, blankets, cuddling. It’ll be so fun! It’s the perfect thing to reconnect.”
Good ole’ Asmo, you would kiss him if you didn’t think it would cause a disaster. “Yeah, let’s do it,” you agreed. “But I pick the movie. We’re watching a scary movie.” You wiggled your fingers, chuckling.
Mammon’s face dropped. “Uh, we—we should watch something else, like an Action movie. A superhero movie, those are awesome!”
“Why, are you gonna cry if we watch a horror film?” Satan teased.
“Yeah, poor Mammon’s gonna wet himself,” Belphie joked.
“He probably already has,” Levi chuckled.
Mammon growled, and reached for them with his hands, probably to strangle them, but you stuck out your hand. “Please, no fighting. We can watch a funny movie then.”
Mammon relaxed. “I didn’t care either way!” he declared.
So your bedroom was transformed into a fort of soft pillows, blankets and sheets. Satan used a spell to make the bed larger for everyone and he TV was enlarged, too. Very handy spellcasting. Beel and Levi went to get snacks and drinks, and everyone else got the room set up with pillows for everybody.
After the movie started, and everyone was situated on the huge bed, it was quiet. Everyone was scattered around with their own pillows and you felt surrounded by warmth. This was exactly what you needed, just some time with them, feeling at peace.
But the comfortable quiet did not last long.
From where Mammon was snuggled beside you, he nudged your arm and said, “So… are you gonna tell us about it?”
You blinked. “About what?”
“Your life with the humans. We want to know everything. What it was like, who you met. Oh, did you meet anyone famous?”
Satan sat up straight. “Yes, did you meet any historical figures?”
Everyone seemed to be listening in instead of watching the film now.
You thought it over, and nodded. “Yeah, a few I guess… they were ordinary people to me at the time, though… Just your fellow human helping out other humans. I tended to keep out of any major conflicts so not to affect too much. I guess just part of what I’d been taught growing up in the Celestial Realm: don’t do anything to change the path humanity will take.”
Mammon nodded. “What was one of your favorite memories?”
Wow, that was a hard question to answer. You even said so. “I lived on Earth for a long time... I have a lot of stuff packed in my head,” you chuckled.
“Aw, c’mon, there’s gotta be somethin’ that sticks out,” Mammon said. “You can’t think of one thing?”
“Oooh, what was your favorite style of outfit? Maybe those pretty dresses from the 18th century?” Asmo asked.
“Anything before the invention of the internet has to be the worst,” Levi commented.
Beel, while chewing on some popcorn, said, “The food is always gonna be good, but when the cheeseburger was created was probably my favorite time in history.”
You chuckled at each of their comments. But you did go through your favorite memories, friends’ long past and different towns flashing through your mind’s eye. Overall they were happy memories but in the end, it was always the same endgame. They died, and you moved on.
You must have made some noise or done something because Asmo made a cooing noise at you. “Oh, sweetie.” He immediately pulled you into his arms, tucking you into his neck to pet your hair. A few tear drops fell but you did sob or cry at all.
There were hands rubbing your back and arms, and you looked up to see the brother’s saddened smiling faces.
“We are here for you,” Satan reassured you, stroking his hand up and down your upper arm. His hand was warm and comforting.
Levi sniffled, and squeezed your hand. “Don’t cry anymore, you don’t need to when we can protect you now.”
Beel reached behind himself, and held out a candy bar towards you. “Hey, do you want some of my chocolate? It’s got small crunchy bits in it. And chocolate makes you feel better.” He smiled, and handed you the candy bar. It had a bite out of it, but the thought was nice.
“Thank you, Beel.”
“And here, take my blanket, you look cold.” Belphie put his small throw blanket over your lower half, making his brothers curse when it buried their own arms or hands.
You smiled up at him. “Thanks, Belphie.”
Asmo made a huffing sound. “Well, I want to play with your hair. Can I braid it, please?”
You giggled. “Go ahead, Asmo.”
You let them pamper you up, while the movie played in the background. Eventually the movie ended and Levi set up a racing game, and you all selected your characters and played together. It was a perfect first day back home.
Christmas Confessions | Connor Brashier
A/n: this is absolute trash and I’m sorry, but sometimes you gotta put out the bad stuff to get to the good stuff. This is also for @wondershawns winter writing challenge, so I hope you enjoy it! My prompts were “old Christmas family photos” and “we’d make a cute couple.”
Summary: Christmas time brings up some feelings for these long time friends
Warnings: friends to lovers, fluff
Word count: 2.2k
***
Christmas vacation has always been a big thing in our family. It just became even bigger once the Brashier family started joining us. Which, while I like to say our moms are the reason for that – they are, for the most part – it’s really because Connor and I have been attached at the hip since we were in preschool. But it also helps that our moms became best friends too when Connor and I had our first play date. Then if we flashforward a couple more years, Sam and his family joined us too.
Yeah, Christmas vacation is quite an adventure, but it’s truly the greatest time to be surrounded by the people I love for two whole weeks. No responsibilities, just a fuck ton of cookies, egg nog, and Hallmark Christmas movies. The boys claim to hate the movies, but by the middle of the movie – every single time, without fail – they’re arguing over whether or not the main character should be with the big shot lawyer guy that she was supposedly getting engaged to at the start of the movie, or her old high school crush. (Sam votes lawyer, Connor and I say high school crush. But it’s funny how this is the argument every time and even though we’ve seen hundreds of these movies in our lifetime, Sam still votes for the big shot.)
“Kids! Look what I found!” Mrs. Brashier comes into the living room where the three of us are sprawled out on the floor arguing. We all turn to look at her and I furrow my brows at the scrapbook she’s holding.
“A scrapbook?”
“Yes, it has all kinds of pictures of the three of you from all the trips we’ve taken here. You should look through it. Take a trip down memory lane.” She hands the book to Connor, who in turn hands it to me since I’m in the middle. “There’s the cutest photo of you three in there from two years ago, when you’re all under the mistletoe.” She says before heading back to the dining room to sit with mine and Sam’s moms.
“Pause the movie,” I tell Sam. “I wanna look through it.” I reposition myself, taking my pillow off Connor’s back, where I was previously resting my head.
The first few photos are just of me and Connor, and a few with Dylan too, but Dylan hated being in front of the camera as a kid, so he was rarely in any photos with us. “Awe, look at little y/n missing her tooth,” Connor laughs.
“Mhm, that was the Christmas where I wouldn’t stop singing ‘All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.’”
“Oh, I remember. You were tone deaf,” he dead pans and I gasp, slapping his arm.
“Don’t be an ass! I was six!”
“I’m aware. You’re better now.”
“Well, only a little,” Sam says.
“You both suck! I’m a great singer.”
“Mhm sure,” they say at the same time.
“I did not ask to be attacked like this.”
“You don’t have to, it’s our job as your best friends to keep you humble,” Sam nods, nudging my arm with his elbow.
I hum and turn the page, and Sam makes his first appearance. He’s putting way too many sprinkles on his cookie that looks like it was supposed to be Santa. The next photo is of all of us with our decorated cookies. Mine looks almost bare because I didn’t have enough frosting on it – I was never a frosting person, it’s too sweet. Connor’s somehow has the perfect ratio of frosting to sprinkles. Of course, it’s kinda hard to mess up a candy cane.
The next couple photos are of us in the snow – snow angels, snowball fights, another one of just us smiling at the camera, arms all locked around each other. It takes a few more pages before we get to the photo Connor’s mom was talking about.
I’m squished between the guys, Sam on my left, Connor on my right and they’re both kissing my cheeks. My eyes are shut tight and the picture is a little blurry from where the camera tried to catch my hands pushing them away.
“Hey, if you take Sam out of the picture,” Connor starts, going to cover Sam with his hand. “We’d make a good couple.”
“Don’t be a dick!” Sam shoves his hand away so he can cover Connor’s face. “Obviously we’re the better couple. You’re just the third wheel.”
“Okay, that’s enough. Turn the movie back on. We have like three more to watch tonight.” I change the subject, but I look back at the photo and I can’t help but think that Connor’s right. We do look like a good couple.
---
After we’ve all eaten, the guys and I make our way back to the living room, all the siblings following, scattering on the floor to watch movies with us. The parents have resorted to their rooms, the moms most likely wrapping last minute gifts while our dads all start drifting off so they don’t get asked to do anything. It’s their own tradition.
Once it hits midnight, most everyone has gone to their rooms, except for Connor, Sam, Dylan, and me. But Sam and Dylan are asleep and snoring loudly beside Connor and me. He’s scrolling through his phone and I have my head on his shoulder, watching the movie that’s still on. It’s one of my favorite Christmas movies. Sam hates it, which is why I turned it on after he fell asleep.
“What is it about this movie that you love so much?” Connor asks quietly.
I shrug, “I don’t know. I guess I’m just a sucker for a good ol’ friends to lovers story. It’s the best of all the clichés, I think.”
He just nods. “Yeah. I guess friends to lovers is kinda nice.”
“What? Are you gonna tell me that you don’t like the idea of knowing someone your whole life and slowly realizing that they’re your soulmate?”
“No,” he shakes his head staring down at me with a fond smile. “I – I like the idea. But, I don’t know if it would happen for me.”
“Why not?”
“Well, what if she doesn’t feel the same?” he asks seriously.
“What if she does? What then?”
“It’s not possible.”
“Says who? Any girl would be crazy not to be in love with you.”
He clears his throat, “Any girl?”
“Yeah, any girl,” I say, but I don’t think he quite gets what I’m saying. Because he just nod and looks back at his phone.
“Hey,” he says a few minutes later. “It says it’s snowing. Let’s go.”
“But it’s late.”
“So? We always go out for a walk when the first snow hits. Go get dressed. I’ll get blankets.”
I don’t argue because he’s right. It’s our tradition. Since we started coming here, we always go on a walk together during the first snow. Sam came with us once, but that just resulted in a snowball fight and this was the only quiet time that Connor and I had. So we made it a thing to go when it first started snowing, and then we’d go back out with Sam and go as crazy as we want.
I shiver once we get out there, shrugging my jacket on. “Oh god.”
Connor just snickers and takes my hand. “Come on, let’s go. It’s really coming down out here.”
I follow him and we soon fall into step with each other, our feet crunching the snow beneath us at the same speed, our breathing synchronized.
“Hey, y/n?” he says on our way back to the house.
“Yeah?” I breathe out.
“What you said inside, about liking the whole friends to lovers cliché.”
“Mhm, what about it?”
“Did you mean that you would like it if it were to happen to you?”
“Oh,” I nod and think about it. “Yeah. Yeah, I would. Why?”
Connor shrugs, “I don’t know. I was just – just wondering.”
“Do you want a friends to lovers cliché?”
“I don’t know. Maybe,” he looks down at his feet while he walks. “I mean, I could see it happening maybe… with you?”
“With,” I clear my throat, “with me?”
He sighs and climbs the steps, walking over to the porch swing where we left the blankets. He sits down, “I mean, I’m just thinking like… if I were to have a crush on you or something. Would – would it be possible that those feelings would be reciprocated?”
“Um,” I sit down next to him and look down at his hands that are clasped together in his lap. “I think that if you had a crush on me, it is very, very possible that those feelings are reciprocated.”
He looks up at me with wide eyes, “Wait, you’re – are you serious?”
“What you said earlier, about us looking like a good couple. Did you mean that?”
He licks his lips and I glance down in time to see his pinkie twitching. I reach forward and place my hand over his. He winces. “Fuck, your hands are cold.” And he covers mine with his, blowing on them to keep the heat. I stare at his rosy cheeks, and eyes that seem even brighter in contrast with the bright white snow. “Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yes, I meant it.”
I nod once and exhale deeply. “So… what does this mean?”
“I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t even really know what just happened.”
“Well, I think we might have just admitted we have feelings for each other.”
“Yes,” he confirms. “We did that. So where do we go from here?”
“I have no idea,” I admit. “But hopefully inside, it’s freezing.”
Connor laughs, “Yeah, it is. Let’s go.” He stands, still holding my hand and he pulls me to my feet, leading me inside. We’re quiet walking back in, careful not to wake Dylan and Sam who are still sleeping, the movie still playing on the TV, but long forgotten. Connor leads me to the kitchen, and he pulls two mugs from the cupboard and gets the kettle from near the coffee maker, turning on the stove before filling the kettle with water.
“So,” I say, hoisting myself up on the counter. “Are we gonna talk about this next move thing?”
“Yes,” he answers, jumping to sit next to me, our legs touching. “I think we need to go on a date.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?” he asks, and it’s clear he wasn’t expecting that to be my response.
“Well, actually, I would like to be asked on a date.”
He blushes and looks down. “Sorry.” But then he looks back up and he has a very bright smile on his face and I’m reminded why I fell for him in the first place. His smile could light up the whole world, and no I do not take constructive criticism. “Would you, y/n, like to accompany me on an outing, one that is often referred to as a date?”
I can’t help but laugh, “Sure, yes. I would very much like to accompany you on an outing often referred to as a date.”
“Yeah? That’s – that’s great! I’ll start planning tonight.” He says matter-of-factly.
“Okay. That sounds good.” I nod and swing my feet as we both fall silent, waiting for the water to boil.
“Y/n?”
“Hmm?”
“I really want to kiss you.”
I choke on air. “What?”
“Sorry,” he shakes his head. “I didn’t – I wasn’t going to say that out loud. I just – well, yeah. I want to kiss you. Because I’ve been thinking about what it would be like to kiss you since I was fourteen and now that we’re going on a date I feel – excuse me for assuming – like I’m that much closer and it’s absolutely killing me to not know what it’s like to –”
“Connor, kiss me,” I interrupt his rambling.
He only hesitates a second before his hands are on either side of my jaw and his lips are covering mine in a heated kiss. I hum against him and reach for his hair, tugging a little, which in turn causes him to moan against my lips. And holy hell, what wouldn’t I give to hear that again over and over for the rest of my life. His tongue teases my bottom lip and I part my lips, allowing him to roam. This kiss is heaven. It’s everything I could have ever wanted with this boy in particular. It’s the type of kiss that leaves your toes curling and your mind spinning. It’s perfect until –
Eeeeeekkk!!! The kettle squeals, startling us both, and causing Connor to bite my lip as he pulls away.
“Ow,” I hold onto my lips while Connor jumps from the counter to take the kettle off the stove. He pours the water into our mugs and then grabs the tea bags from the cupboard above him, placing one in each of our cups before turning and handing me mine. “Thanks,” I say, still holding my lip.
“What’s wrong?”
“You bit my lip when you pulled away.”
“Oh,” his face falls. “I’m so sorry.”
“S’okay. Is it bleeding?” I ask, taking my hand away.
He leans closer to inspect it and shakes his head. “No, it’s not. I’m sorry.”
“You’re okay. Why don’t you kiss it and make it better?”
Connor raises an eyebrow, “You want me to?”
“Please?”
He sets his mug down beside me and I do the same. And then he’s taking my face again and kissing my lips softly. He pecks my lips six times before I groan.
“Kiss me like you mean it, Brashier.”
He chuckles and pulls me closer, doing as he’s told.
_______________________________________________________________________
It was about two hours before the show was supposed to start and Y/N was doing her normal self-routine before she had to go to her ‘Band-Team-Gang’ (or BTG as her and the girls liked to call it) pre-show rituals.
Y/N was a part of a famous girl group who had just recently started making it big in Ba Sing Se and were on their first huge tour. Normally, this would make any performer nervous of the attention and putting on a big show, but this was the environment that she thrived in.
Suki, Mai, Ty Lee, Azula, Yue, and herself all knew each other from an all-girl’s private school that they grew up in together and bonded immediately over their love for creating music. It was inevitable for them to become a group.
They spent most of their high school days writing songs and joking around in Y/N’s backyard bungalow her parents had gotten her for her twelfth birthday. To this day, they still go back there and do hot (dumb) girl shit.
“Why would we stop? That’s our home, of course we’d still go back there!” Ty Lee answered the interviewer with her signature hair flip and giggle.
Azula rolled her eyes at the girl, hiding a fond smile. “At this point, It’d be weird not to go back to that little corner of hell we made.” Yue smacked her arm quickly, “Azula! Don’t act like you haven’t written most of our top hits in the bean bag we definitely didn’t steal from the school lounge.”
The rest of the girls laughed, remembering how they had to hop the gates and sneak past the night guards to be able to get the bean bag. The plan would’ve been a total waste of time and definitely would have gotten them all expelled if anyone had caught them, but thank Mai’s ability to pick locks (which no one knows where she learned to do but they do not question it).
“Plus,” Suki chimed in. “Y/N’s dad makes the best snacks and meals for us. It’d be a federal crime to not take up that offer for as long as we can.”
Needless to say, the six girls were so comfortable with each other that every performance was just like every group practice with, like, thousands of extra guests of honor. They even have a couch lounge area as part of their stage set props. It just makes sense.
Even though those were her best friends ever, sisters even, Y/N had another friend group that she was super close with. Azula had introduced Y/N to her brother, Zuko, back when they were in their sophomore year of high school and the two instantly clicked. It had only taken a year of being friends and hiding crushes for them to get together, and the two were still going strong. Through him, Y/N met a gang of (crazy) people that he had spent his whole public schooling years.
Aang, an enthusiastic and bald, vegan kid who loved life and enjoyed everything around him; Katara, his pre-med and feminist girlfriend; Sokka, her hilarious and amazingly smart brother (though, sometimes his ideas are questionable); and Toph, a blind and tough girl who is on her way to ruin the top 1%. With Zuko, they were the tightest and happiest little family that automatically accepted Y/N when Zuko brought her over one night.
She was there when he went through a pyromaniac phase, his varying hair styles, and when he tried to get his father’s love back.Ozai, their father, was the owner and CEO of a massive weapons corporation. He had burned Zuko’s face on a hot stove and kicked him out of the house for suggesting that he raise the wage of all his employees to a comfortable living wage because many of his employees struggled to provide for their families even though they worked their asses off. Thankfully, his kind Uncle Iroh instantly picked the boy up off of the streets, letting him live with him and run his successful tea shop called the Jasmine Dragon.
Azula had been shoved away by her father mostly for sexist reasons. Ozai would never pass his company down to his daughter, no matter how smart and dedicated she was. He threw her in the private school where she lived year round. She had never told Y/N or any of the other girl’s any of this, Y/N had found out through Zuko.
Y/N’s mother was a successful lawyer and her father was a district attorney who were very very passionate about bringing justice to those of racial discrimination, domestic abuse, abuse in general, and orphan rights. Her mother was an orphan who was plain lucky to get adopted by a loving old couple who used their life savings to get her the education and life she deserved while her father was a victim of domestic abuse.
So, after months of convincing Zuko, Y/N told her parents about the two siblings. Long story short, they got Ozai arrested for his abuse crimes, bribery history, employee mistreatment, and many more crimes. They also adopted Azula herself and gave full custody of Zuko to his uncle.
Since then, the world has been peaceful for the group. Azula has started to recover from her trauma with the help of her friends, therapy, and love from two caring adults; and Zuko was glowing year round in the company of his uncle and friends.
A smile forms on her face, thinking of her large family and all they’ve gone through to get here, when the door to her personal backstage room opened up. The loud voices from Aang and Sokka met her ears next.
“I LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOU REMEMBERED THE HAM SANDWICHES WITH NO CRUST.” A kiss to her cheek and Sokka is instantly at her snack table.
“Y/N! How’d you know I was going to bring Appa and Momo?!” Aang walked his huge, white dog and lemur (don’t ask how he has it. It might be illegal, but no one can tell him no) to the pet bed corner she had put in.
Not answering them, Y/N just smiles at her friends who barged in and turns back to her mirror where she’s trying to decide her earring combination for the day. Warm arms snake their way around her waist, a body sliding up against her back soon after.
“What’s your ideas for tonight?” Zuko’s voice speaks quietly into her ear, causing her to hum and lean back against his chest slightly.
“I’m not sure. We’re going for the edgy look tonight, but we all know Ty Lee is still going to wear pink. Man, our manager is going to kill her...again.” They both laugh. “Ugh, why did you let me pierce my ears, like, ten times. There’s too many combinations to choose from!”
“Me?! I did-- never mind. Just grab a handful, no one can see them from the stage anyways.” Despite his attempt to seem like he doesn’t care, one of his ring-clad fingers starts moving his favorite pieces over into a little pile by themselves. Y/N rolls her eyes and starts putting his choices in random holes in her ear, pushing him back lightly so she can bend over closer to the mirror to see better.
“It’s the fit Zu… if the fit is a vibe, the confidence is there. If the confidence is there, nothing can stop my hot girl shit.” Her words cause him to let a huff of jealousy, flicking her arm playfully.
Their eyes meet in the mirror, and he can clearly see the mischief in them. Calming down, he jokes back. “Yeah, well, you may do your ‘hot girl shit,’ but no one can steal you from me. We’ve been here too long.”
Toph cuts in from across the room with a loud laugh. “Please, fire brains, I could steal Y/N if I tried.”
He whips around to face the short girl, “No you could not!!”
“Actually, she makes a point.” Katara says, nodding along in hopes to pick fun at the boy.
Sokka adds his two cents. “Honestly. Toph would just have to pick Y/N up and slam her against the wall or something and she’d tell her manager to send you a letter of resignation.”
The whole group laughs, save for the angsty boy, and Y/N wraps her hand around his wrist. She pulls him towards her and reaches for a peck on the cheek. “While that may be true,” she gets a glare. “I’m too big of a simp for you… and Uncle Iroh’s dinner and game nights.”
While the rest of them laugh, Zuko’s eyes soften and he presses his lips to hers in a short, soft kiss. Uncle Iroh adores his girlfriend and everything she has done for Zuko and Azula where he had no power to do anything. The man calls her more than he does Zuko himself, and he’s pretty sure Y/N convinced him to download Words With Friends on his phone to play with her for when she can’t make it to the weekly game night dates.
Y/N smiles up at him and pats his cheeks lovingly before moving to the wardrobe area of her room. She pulls out ‘Cards Against Humanity’ from a duffle bag on the floor before joining the rest of her friends around the lounge area, patting the seat beside her for Zuko to join them.
Everyone cheers at the sight of the black and white box with the many expansion packs that they have collected over the years. While Katara deals, everyone else makes bets on who is going to win this time. Y/N slides back into Zuko’s side as his arm comes to rest around her shoulders, playing with the ends of her H/L hair.
It’s about fifty minutes before the show is starting, and Y/N knows she has to start getting dressed and ready for the concert. Sighing, she slips from her boyfriend’s grasp (a small whine coming from him) and moves to her dressing corner. Suki, Ty Lee, Mai, Azula, and Yue had made their way to the room shortly after they started due to Sokka texting his girlfriend (Suki) to come over and join.
The rest of the girls notice you get up and leave as well, much to everyone else’s dismay. You reassure them to keep playing a few more rounds, not wanting to ruin their fun with you putting clothes on. Y/N quickly shoves her outfit choice on which is very hot, black, and riddled with chains. To top it off, she had thick-heeled combat boots on with numerous buckles on them. Her hair, makeup, and accessories have already been done so she heads back to the group.
‘Cards Against Humanity’ has been packed up neatly and her friends are lounging around, getting last minute snacks and quality time before they go to their special seats right in front of the stage. Nothing but the best for her friends. Sokka and Katara are the first people to see her, and the former lets out his own wolf whistle in his own way to hype Y/N up.
“DAMN, my best friend is HOT AS HELL. Zuko, you lucky ass man.” Katara hits him, but shoots her a wink as the rest of the gang look over. Y/N laughs giddily through their praises and hyped words (Toph in good spirit rather than actually seeing her outfit), as she makes her way back to her spot on the couch.
Zuko, who hadn’t been able to take his eyes off her yet, quickly grabs her bare waist and tugs her onto his lap to hold her tight. “So… this is what you meant by ‘hot girl shit.’” Letting out a loud laugh, Y/N turns her head and gives him a quick kiss. “I’m a rock star, baby, what can I say.”
Aang cheers out of nowhere. “Yes! I’ve always wanted to be a groupie!” More laughter and jokes ring throughout the room, keeping the atmosphere as light as always,
A knock at the door interrupts them. A man is standing there in all black with a headset on and a sleek, red (with little sparkles that only gleam in the light), electric guitar carefully caressed in his hands. While they are a girl group, their success has mainly come from being a girl group who also plays all their instruments. With Mai on the drums, Ty Lee on the keyboard, Azula and Y/N on electric guitars, Yue on the acoustic guitar, Suki on the bass; the band is truly a sight with all of them sharing the vocals and their enthusiastic (near crackhead) energy that give their crowd a good show.
“Miss L/N? This is your five minute warning.” He tells them, not bothered by the usual group of people who are constantly in these rooms with her.
“Thanks Lee!” Y/N hops up to get her pride and joy (her child as Suki and Mai like to joke about). “I’ll be right out.”
Knowing these are the last pre-game minutes, everyone starts getting up to leave the room as well. Zuko lingers by Y/N who’s busy making sure her instrument is tuned perfectly for the numbers she’s about to perform.
“I can feel you staring, Zu,” She smiles, still looking down at her strings. He huffs out a laugh, reaching out to push a piece of hair back to see her face.
“Good luck out there, my rock star. Don’t do too much hot girl shit.”
“Oh, I’m doing all the hot girl shit.” A glare. “I’m kidding! I’m kidding… unless…?” She laughs at his fed up face. Reaching up, she presses one last, lingering kiss to his lips, enjoying the feeling of his fingers clutching her sides firmly and the feeling of his heart beat under her palm that’s resting on his chest.
“Bye, love. I’ll see you after the show.” She whispers, sealing the promise with a kiss before moving back. “Alright kids! Get the hell out of my dressing room.” Y/N shouts at her friends and they all leave together, laughing away.
The rest of them wish her luck before moving away, Sokka sprinting to find Suki one last time. Zuko holds onto her free hand, watching her laugh at ‘Simp Sokka’ with his small smile on his face. He kisses her hand, pulling her attention back to him.
“Bye, rock star. I’ll see you after the show. Break a leg, yeah?” His cliche words make her laugh more, pulling away from him and towards the rest of her band who are chanting “BTG! BTG!”.
“Zu… I don’t break legs. I break hearts.” And with one last mischievous look, she mouths ‘hot girl shit’ and struts away in that way that makes Zuko want to make her cancel the show completely.
His phone buzzes a few minutes after he caught up with his friends in their special closed off section on the floor. He opens the notification and it sends him to Instagram where Y/N had tagged him in a post. The smile grows on his face with every second he takes in the post.
Katara must’ve taken the picture. The angle, lighting, and quality could only be done by her. Y/N was on his lap, dressed to go on stage. Zuko’s mouth was almost touching her ear, definitely when he was whispering to her, and her face was wide in a smirk. They looked good, perfect even. The caption is what made him laugh, warmth and pride that she is his spreading through his chest.
“Y/N_L/N: for him? I’m always on my hot girl shit”
Double Trouble
The grandparents of Bastien and Sophia's twins meet at last
Word Count 2751
A/N Just pure fluff here, no warnings. If you're wondering about my grammar, it's in order to make plain that Costas and Althea are not native English speakers. Series not suitable for under 18s
6b Grandparents
The next day, everyone piled into the minivan and made for the Capitol. The Palace was on the northern edge of the town, so it wasn’t far in terms of distance, and Bastien had timed everything to avoid rush hour. It hadn’t been easy getting the twins ready to go out, and the double buggy was loaded up with gear for any foreseeable emergency. They parked on one of the jetties that jutted out into the bay for visiting yachts and started the process of unloading and getting the twins into the buggy. Sophia wasn’t sure if it was easier or harder having her parents there to help, as they needed attention too, and she had to make sure Edith got her share of baby cuddles before they set off to meet Costa and Althea.
It was a pleasant walk along the harbourside, with plenty to see, from the moored yachts and fishing boats, the well planted flowerbeds and the old defending castle that dominated the town. The land rose swiftly from the harbour and the town buildings climbed the hill, crowded next to one another rather like the town in Guernsey where Sophia had grown up. Sometimes the resemblance gave her pangs of homesickness even though the building style was very different to her childhood home. She didn’t visit often, and it was pleasant to be there after spending most of her time looking after the twins at the Palace. Theo and little Bea were wide eyed at the unfamiliar sights and sounds, and Edith enthusiastically pointed out the boats and what she termed ‘dicky birds’ or the pigeons and seagulls that made the harbour their home territory.
They had planned to meet Bastien’s foster parents at a harbourside bistro that served a mixture of cuisines. It had seating right at the edge of the quayside with large sun canopies over the tables to guard against the Mediterranean sun. Sophia was fair skinned so needed to be careful not to burn, as would Edith and Bob. Bastien was more resilient and bronzed quickly but it was too soon to know whether their offspring would follow their mother or father in that respect. The buggy had its own sun shade and Sophia was watchful as to their exposure They both had little sun bonnets that kept some of the glare out of their eyes and the strong rays off their delicate skin. Approaching the Bistro, Sophia saw Althea, who stood and waved at them enthusiastically.
‘Excellent, they’re here’ Bastien said. They made their way over, finding that the buggy was just too tricky to manoeuvre through the bistro courtyard and the bags had to be taken off and the twins unbuckled before they could get any closer. Edith was delighted to take Beatrice again, and the feeling was mutual as she’d just got bored and decided that the straps holding her safe were too restricting. She gabbled and stared up at her grandmother, chubby fists waving in an attempt to grab at her clothes and hair. Althea quickly made her way over to take Theo as Bob hung back, keeping out of the way of the chaos.
‘Theodore Lykel, ántra mou’ my little man she cooed as Sophia handed bags over to Bastien in order to fold the buggy up. ‘You must be Lady Edith’ Althea was saying, holding Theo one handed, making an odd little curtsey and holding out her other hand for Edith to shake. On meeting Sophia for the first time Althea had remarked how ‘English’ she sounded, and was convinced she had noble blood despite being told otherwise. Costa had confided that she was a great fan of period drama and never missed an episode of Downton Abbey.
‘Althea, it’s lovely to meet you, but I’m just plain Edith, I’m not a lady’ she replied, awkwardly changing her hold on Beatrice for the handshake, making her squeak in protest. Costa had risen from his seat and come forward to greet Bob as Bastien and Sophia wrestled with the bags and buggy, setting it up again next to the table that had been reserved for them. If the babies fell asleep it would come in handy.
‘Bob’ Costa boomed, taking his hand in both of his ‘Good to meet you. Bastien, he says these are your first grandchildren’
‘Yes, that’s right Costa’ Bob replied ‘I take it you’re an experienced pappous’ Costa beamed
‘Polý kalá - very good, Bob. You know a little Greek?’
‘A very little. There’s not much call for it where we live, but I thought I’d do a little research.’ Costa nodded at him approvingly
‘The Greek gods did not bless us with our own children’ he smiled, inclining his head at Sophia. ‘You and Edith, you are very lucky’ Bob swallowed.
‘If Bastien here is an example, yours and Althea’s parental skills are excellent.’ he replied with a smile. Costa pursed his lips in gratitude.
‘That is kind of you, Bob. Now then, come, sit, sit - and we can talk and spoil these mikroí Ángeloi (little angels) together.’ He let go of his hand and they went to help get everyone seated. The two older women cooed and bounced the twins to keep them occupied while they all settled, with Sophia and the twins in the shade of the sun canopy, Edith next to her and Althea facing them. Costa basked in the warm sun and Bob adjusted his cap to keep the sun out of his eyes in the half shade. Bastien sat close to Sophia ready to help with bags or buggy while Althea propped Theo up on her lap so he could face the grown ups, making sure he couldn’t grab anything he shouldn’t have. Both his and Bea’s motor skills were developing but still a little random and they were getting the idea of putting interesting things into their mouth to sample. They had both developed fat little sucker cheeks and their fists were chubby and always active.
Before long the waiter came out with the menus, accompanied by the owner. Luigi was a middle aged Italian, a little thick around his waist, no doubt from sampling the dishes the cook, also his wife, made.
‘Mr Lykel, a pleasure to have you at my humble bistro. You bring your family’ he beamed.
‘Luigi, it’s been a while’ Bastien stood to shake his hand.
‘Ah, these are your bambini!’ he cried ‘Bellisima, what fine healthy babies, my wife will not forgive me if she misses them. And your wife, the lovely Sophia, you must be so proud.’ Sophia smiled, feeling a little odd having her babies praised while her arms were empty.
‘You’ve already met my foster parents’ Bastien asserted, then waved his at the other two. ‘and these are Sophia’s parents, Bob and Edith’
‘Benvenuto’ Luigi turned his attention to them ‘Welcome to my humble establishment. You are English like Sophia?’
‘Indeed we are’ Bob replied ‘I’m looking forward to seeing the menu. I promise we’re not typical Brits and we won’t ask for egg and chips’ Luigi laughed.
‘That rarely happens senor, but my wife likes to make everybody happy with her cooking.’ He leaned over to take a closer look at Beatrice, looking sleepy but refusing to nod off while there were such interesting people to watch. ‘Bellissima, she is adorable. I will call my wife to take a look before you order – is okay?’
‘Of course’ Sophia smiled, and he whisked away.
‘Really, Bob?’ Edith whispered to her husband. ‘Egg and chips? We’re not that bad.’
‘It was just a joke, E.’ he smiled. She huffed, but was distracted from taking it any further when Luigi’s wife, Rennata, emerged from the bistro.
‘Oh, i bambini’ she cried, clasping her hands together ‘Che bello – they are beautiful, senora. How alike they are!’ She leaned over Edith to take a good look and Bea looked a little disturbed at yet another new face. She screwed her face up ready to cry, but Edith soothed her, taking her hand and waving it at the cook.
‘Say hello, Bea. The nice lady just wants to see how beautiful you are’ she crooned. Beatrice stuffed her fingers in her mouth and dribbled, deciding that crying wasn’t worth the effort. The cook turned to look at Theo, who was unfazed and just gazed back at the newcomer before renewing his efforts to grab the salt shaker.
‘You are so lucky’ she gushed ‘They will play together when they are older. My sister had twins. They were hard work, but they always had company.’ She bustled back inside, and Luigi beamed at them.
‘Senor, drinks on the house, I insist, to wet the babies’ heads.’
‘You’re too kind Luigi’ Bastien replied. The owner followed Rennata back in and the waiter handed round the menus, taking orders for drinks.
‘Costa, the seafood platter for two looks good’ Althea remarked.
‘Luigi is generous with his portions’ said Bastien ‘We could have a big sharing platter and all order one or two tapas each’
‘Excellent idea’ Bob smiled, though Edith looked a little dubious. She wasn’t wildly adventurous with food, so Sophia pointed out the tapas menu, which seemed to please her as there were a few things she was familiar with. Before long they had all decided, and when the waiter came back with the drinks they put their order in. The twins started to doze, so Sophia put them in the buggy where they drifted off to sleep to the soft murmur of the grown ups talking.
‘Have you ever had to look after twins, Costa?’ Bob asked him ‘Any tips to hand down?’
‘No, not twins, but some – how you say? Brothers and sisters – siblings?’ Bob nodded. ‘Some foster children, they have big trouble, you know? We do our best to help them. These two’ he nodded at the twins, fast asleep in the buggy ‘They have good loving parents, and that, my friend, is a good place to start. They will do great things, just like our Antras.’ Althea nodded and leaned forward towards Sophia, resting her hand on her arm.
‘Costa is right, Sophia. All you need is love – love and patience. Every child, they are different, and so are the ones who look after them. You will work out your best way’ Edith gazed at the twins fondly.
‘You were an easy baby, darling.’ Bob assured his daughter. ‘I think Theo takes after you, but Bea takes a little more work. I’m sure you’ll find a way to manage her. You’re already doing a wonderful job.’
‘We only ever had Sophia.’ Edith chipped in ‘and she was such a good girl, she was almost never naughty. I’m not sure I have any advice, sweetheart. I just hope we get to see them every now and again’ She looked wistful.
‘Oh Mum’ Sophia said softly ‘Of course you will. We’ll visit, or you can come up to Edinburgh when we’re settled. You can fly, it’s not a long journey. We’ll have lots of video calls too.’ At that moment Luigi and the waiter came back with their food, and they scrambled to get everything set out ready to eat. Costa raised his glass.
‘We drink to our beautiful grandchildren, and wish our Ántras and Sophia strength to help them grow up healthy and happy’
‘Hear hear’ Bob echoed, and they all drank, raising their glasses high as the twins slumbered on.
-------
‘Well I couldn’t eat another bite’ Sophia announced after doing justice to the lobster thermidor she had been craving. She drank sparkling water, while Althea and Edith had retsina, and topped up their glasses from a jug of iced water when they’d finished. Bob had a beer, whilst Bastien and Costa, having driven there, had soft drinks. Edith had ordered a crab salad, Bob had gone for a burger, and Bastien had sea bass and a dish of mussels. Costa had ordered a small moussaka and Althea had pizza, and they had all dipped in to the seafood platter.
‘Are you sure about that?’ Bastien asked her ‘they have some excellent gelato’ She smiled back at him, remembering her favourite restuarant in Edinburgh that made award winning gelato, and the fact that within the year they would be there in person.
‘I think there’s plenty of time for that in the future’ she said gently.
‘Well I think I could manage some sorbet’ Edith piped up, so the women had sorbet and the men talked, though both Costa and Bastien sampled their wives’ desserts. Luigi came to bring them the bill, and Bob insisted on paying.
‘The twins will need feeding soon’ Sophia said ‘We should probably make our way back to the van and go home.’
‘Bob, perhaps you and Edith would like to look around town with us’ Althea suggested. ‘We get to know each other, and we take you back to the Palace after’ Edith looked to Bob, who smiled and nodded.
‘That sounds like a good idea – what do you think, E?’
‘Why not?’ she answered ‘Then Sophia can have a rest when she’s fed the twins’ That said, they managed to get the buggy out with the waiter’s help, moving tables and chairs so they could carry on sleeping.
‘We’d better get moving’ Sophia declared ‘Bea doesn’t like waiting for her feed, and they’ll be hungry after all the excitement’ She hugged her parents and she and Bastien set off back to the van as fast as they could. They managed to transfer the twins into their seats without too much bother, and by the time they got home Beatrice was awake and starting to grumble. The next hour was taken up with feeding and changing them both.
‘Thank goodness we’ve only got the twins to deal with’ Sophia sighed, knowing that it would be a while before nap time. ‘I’m shattered after our trip’
‘I’m sorry to hear that’ Bastien replied as he held Theo.
‘Don’t get me wrong, it was a really nice outing. All the grandparents seemed to get on well’
‘Yes, they did. It’s difficult getting out and about’ Bastien admitted. ‘But it will just become our new normal. We’ll soon have it all down pat.’
‘It did help having a couple of extra pairs of hands. Mum was right, Edinburgh will be a whole different ball game’ Bastien walked over to her and kissed her cheek.
‘We’ll cope’ he said gently ‘We can afford extra help, and Liam said we’re always welcome back here if we need a break’
‘I couldn’t stay away for long’ Sophia smiled ‘It really feels like home here. I quite like the idea of travelling between here and Scotland’
‘Well, the King has said we can use the Royal jet to take the twins there, so that will be a huge help. I can’t imagine trying to manage them on an ordinary passenger flight’ He rocked Beatrice and clucked at her as she waved her arms and legs happily. ‘You’re a little Missy.’ he crooned.
‘We’ll be around to see when Lucy has the baby, then we’ll be off’ Sophia replied. ‘The accommodation the university’s providing will make a good base to start from.’
‘We really seem to have struck it lucky in lots of ways’ Bastien replied. They had been offered a large flat in a Georgian terrace right in the centre of the city. It had access to a park, available only to residents of the historic terrace. Sophia was excited to get there and explore. If it was nice enough, they probably wouldn’t need to bother house hunting for a while.
‘Well, my first stroke of luck was finding you’ Sophia said, bouncing Theo on her knee. Bastien smiled and held out his hand. Puzzled, she got up, holding the baby one handed and he snaked his free arm around her waist.
‘I’m the lucky one, my goddess’ he murmured, kissing her on her cheek. They each cradled a baby in the crook of their arm and he turned to face her, humming a nursery rhyme. She leaned into him and they slowly swayed to the tune, babies gazing up at them contentedly. Bastien rested his forehead on the top of her head and they formed their own safe little family bubble. Sophia’s heart felt as if it would burst with love for all three of them, and looking up into her husband’s eyes, she knew he felt the same…
Drabble prompt: Dad!Harry comforts one of his kids (any age) when they feel hurt/upset by something. Maybe he tells them a little about his own childhood. I am a sucker for this family fluff.
I have no idea if this is good or not but I felt a certain type of Way while writing it so maybe it is. THIS BECAME MUCH (MUUUCH) LONGER THAN I EXPECTED LOL I APOLOGIZE BUT HOPE YOU LIKE IT :) James is 10, Albus 8, Lily 6 :)
Harry’s favorite part of the day has always been walking in through the door after work. The hugs around his legs from his excited children, the glowing smile from his wife and the feel of her greeting kiss. He had a particularly boring and arduous day at the office, and although Ron dropping in to have lunch with him and Hermione was a nice consolation, he was as eager as ever to apparate back to Godric’s Hollow and see his little family.
But when Harry opened the door, relying on the usual routine to lift his spirits, his stomach dropped and he groaned at the sound of two familiar voices shouting upstairs, remembering the alternative but just as frequent routine of sibling chaos. As he made his way through the entrance he only saw Lily, his six-year-old daughter, in the sitting room, lying on her stomach and coloring, singing under her breath. She noticed him as he began walking over, hopped up from the floor, and ran over to him. Harry dropped his briefcase and bent down to be level with her as she jumped in his arms and cooed, “Daddy!”
“Hi, Lils,” he replied, kissing the top of her head and hugging her tightly. “Where’s your Mum?”
As on cue, Ginny scurried down the stairs. “Oh thank Merlin,” she sighed in relief. Harry let go of Lily and stood up to meet his wife, whose smile was more pained and exhausted than anything. “Can you go up there, please?” she asked before leaning in to kiss him fleetingly. “They’ve been going at it for a quarter an hour, it’s driving me spare. I’ll take care of dinner.”
“No problem,” he told her. “What happened?”
“Al accidentally set James’s training broom on fire,” she told him casually as they watched Lily, apparently uninterested, walk back toward her drawing and plop down on the floor. “While James was riding it.” At the look on Harry’s face, she laughed and quickly added, “He’s fine, he’s fine, nothing happened. I put it out right away.”
“And we’re sure it was an accident?” Harry asked skeptically.
Ginny nodded. “I saw it happen, we were in the yard. James was provoking Al, you know, the usual. Both on their training brooms and James was saying that Al couldn’t go up as high as he could, or as fast, and as James was demonstrating this Al looked like he was going to combust, and then-” she made a small noise to resemble an explosion.
Harry took off his Ministry robes and hung them up by the door as Ginny continued. “I put the fire out right away, then James landed and practically strangled Al, I separated them and told Al to take a shower while I told off James for provoking him and the subsequent attack, but as soon as Al got out they started going at it again.”
Harry sighed as he heard the two of them talking over each other from above. He moved back toward the staircase and kissed Ginny again. “I’ll handle it.”
“Just tell James to shower when you’re done before dinner, please.”
“Will do.” He began to ascend to the second floor, and as he reached the last step he saw James standing at Albus’s door frame, playing with a training snitch.
“That’s not true,” he heard Albus say, his tone deadly. “That’s a lie. I don’t believe you.”
“What’s a lie?” Harry piped in as he reached them, taking the snitch out of James’s grasp and pocketing it.
James spun around quickly on the spot. “Dad!” James shouted, not in excitement to see him, but in a tone that suggested he knew he was about to get told off again.
Without preamble, Albus said, “James said I won’t be accepted into Hogwarts if I keep doing accidental magic.”
“I didn’t say you wouldn’t be,” James mumbled. “I said you might not be. There’s a difference.”
“But you’ve done accidental magic, too!” Albus retorted, his face blotchy and red. “Mum said so!”
“Yeah, but none that almost hurt my brother!” he emphasized, glaring back at him pointedly.
“I didn’t mean to!” Al shouted back desperately, looking up at his father. “I didn’t!”
“I know you didn’t, Al,” Harry reassured him. He looked at James. “You. Stop antagonizing your brother. You know that’s not true; of course Al will still be accepted to Hogwarts. And if you don’t quit it I might just write to Professor McGonagall before your birthday telling her to throw your letter into the fire. Clear?”
James gasped dramatically. “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Don’t test it,” Harry warned him. “Now, enough of this. Your mum is making dinner and there’s no use in fighting anymore. The both of you, apologize.”
His two sons stood there, arms crossed, neither looking at the other. Finally, James spoke. “Sorry for lying,” he said quietly.
“And?” Harry prodded him.
“And,” he whined, “for making fun of your training broom, which used to be mine, anyway, so I guess that was stupid.” He looked up at his father for approval, but Harry kept his eyebrows raised. James groaned. “And for tackling you after Mum put out the fire.”
Harry nodded at James, who smiled. Albus spoke quietly, too. “I’m sorry I accidentally set your broom on fire.” He paused, then looked up at James. “I really didn’t mean to. I was just angry, and it just...”
“Happened,” James finished for him. “Yeah, I know. S’okay.”
Harry smiled encouragingly at both of them. “That wasn’t so hard, now, was it? James, go shower, then meet us downstairs for dinner, alright?”
“Sure thing, old man!” James saluted, then ran and slid to the loo, slamming the door behind him.
Albus sat down on the edge of his bed, his shoulders sagging. Harry walked in and placed himself beside him, putting an arm around him. “You still upset?”
He nodded, staring down at his feet. Harry waited for Albus to collect his thoughts. “Do you think I’m bad, Dad?” he asked in a small voice.
Harry’s heart broke, just a little. “What? Of course not, Al.”
“But...what I did...I know it was an accident. But it was bad.”
“Things like that used to happen to me all the time,” Harry told him.
“But you always told us about ending up on roofs and having your hair grow. And when you set that snake free, which was a good thing!”
Harry laughed. “I’ve told you about Aunt Marge before, haven’t I?”
“I think so.”
“Well, I never told you lot this story, because I didn’t want to encourage James, so keep this between us for now, alright?”
Albus looked up at him, curious. Harry went on. “The summer I turned thirteen, Dudley’s Aunt Marge came over the Dursleys’. And she was not a very nice lady, saying things about my parents intentionally to get me upset. And just like with you today, my anger got the better of me. I couldn’t control it, and well...I sort of blew her up.”
His son’s eyes, so like his own, widened in shock. “Blew her up?”
“Well, inflated her is more accurate,” he corrected himself. “Like a balloon. They couldn’t get her down from the ceiling.”
Albus let out a short snort of laughter. “But you were thirteen? You didn’t get in trouble at school?”
“Not that time, no,” he answered. “I didn’t use a wand, it was an accident, and easily corrected. It wasn’t good either. She could’ve gotten hurt. But I didn’t mean to do it. I would never do something like that on purpose, just like you wouldn’t light your brother’s broom on fire on purpose. And you apologized, which was the right thing to do. I didn’t even do that with Aunt Marge! But maybe I should have. Do you think I’m bad?”
“No!”
“Well then, you can’t think you’re bad either,” Harry said simply, ruffling his hair. “Got it?”
“Got it,” Albus responded before leaning in and hugging his father.
Harry hugged him back. “Come on. Let’s get downstairs and help Mum set the table.”
After the table was set and Harry helped Ginny finish up with the mashed potatoes, James came stomping down, gave his father a delayed yet warm hug, and then went to bother Albus again as if nothing at all happened, asking if he and Lily wanted to see a trick. Harry and Ginny laughed, and Ginny put a hand on the side of Harry’s face, tracing the lines there, her smile glowing. “Hard day?”
He smiled back. “Much better now.”
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Thunderbirds Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Gordon Tracy, Scott Tracy, John Tracy Additional Tags: Sibling Bonding, bar bets, Fluff Summary:
Gordon wants a new pair of diving gloves, and he thinks he has just the bar bet to use on his brothers. Scott and John become the victims of Gordon's unwinnable bet...but is it really so unwinnable?
-----------------------
This might fulfill @tsarinatorment‘s prompt “Scott vs any brother(s) in a prank war” for IRRelief but they would have to tell me if I can call it such :D Also tagging @agentfreelancer1 and @thunderbird-one-ai for reasons.
-------------------------
Gordon was elated. He had found a new prank to try on his unwitting brothers, and it was one that, if he played his cards right, he would have enough money for that new set of diving gloves he had been eyeing for weeks. An expensive treat for yourself was, after all, always better if someone else paid the price for it. Gordon grinned and took the stairs nearly two at a time as he made his way to the kitchen.
Scott leaned against the countertop with his hands around a mug of coffee, sipping it with a relaxed air. Alan had just checked in from where he had taken John’s place on Five. The aforementioned red-haired astronaut had pretty much gone straight to bed and it seemed that the world was going to be a little quieter today. So far, the distress signals that had come through on the monitors had been simple things and the GDF had been happy enough to go and take care of them.
However, Scott’s relaxed grip on the cup of coffee tightened when Gordon came into the kitchen. When Gordon came in with that kind of predatory grin, it never ended well for any of them. Scott set his mug down and started to push himself off the counter, but Gordon bypassed him, moving over to the cupboard and beginning to pull down some cups.
“Gordon, what are you doing?” Scott asked warily. Anything involving liquid, especially when many in the house were still asleep, could be a dangerous thing. Gordon ignored his brother’s question and set four glasses and a shot glass on the counter. Scott arched an eyebrow. “Isn’t it a bit early in the day to start drinking?”
“What?” Gordon asked, looking confused. “No…no one’s drinking. Not alcohol anyway.” Scott frowned in confusion.
“Do I even want to know?” Scott asked, folding his arms as Gordon made his way over to the refrigerator and pulled out a carton of orange juice. He began to fill up the four glasses part way and then filled the shot glass with orange juice as well.
“Will you relax, Scott?” Gordon asked as he capped the orange juice. “Honestly, what harm could I do with five glasses of orange juice?” Scott arched an eyebrow.
“Do you really want the answer to that question, Squid?” he asked. Gordon paused mid action of putting the orange juice back in the refrigerator to give Scott a look of mock injury.
“That hurts, Scott,” he said. “It hurts that you don’t trust your little brother.” He put the carton away and moved over to the row of glasses. “Just…humor me, ok?” Scott hesitated before letting out a long suffering sigh and moving over to where the glasses were lined up.
“Ok?” The wariness in Scott’s tone might have offended anyone if they weren’t the resident prankster in front of him. Gordon grinned and indicated the glasses.
“I bet you $100 that I can finish drinking all of these four glasses before you can finish that shot glass,” Gordon said. Scott frowned. There had to be a catch somewhere. Gordon wouldn’t make a bet he wasn’t confident he would win. He sensed a sucker bet, but couldn’t yet see how this could go sideways. “There are two rules, however.”
“Of course, here’s the catch,” Scott said. “Alright, let me hear them.” Gordon held up a finger for each rule.
“Number one: I’m allowed to drink my first glass and put it down before you start. Number two: we can’t touch each other’s glasses,” Gordon said. “So what do you say, Scott?” Scott thought about it for a second, muddling over every aspect of the bet, still not seeing where this could possibly go wrong for him. Scott took a breath.
“Ok, Squid, but I’m going to make you actually cough up that $100 when I win,” Scott said. Gordon’s grin nearly made Scott rethink his acceptance of this bet.
“You’re on, Scott,” Gordon said, reaching for the first glass. Gordon knocked it back and Scott looked ready to pounce on the shot glass to protect that $100 and to teach his little brother a lesson. Gordon gave an angelic smile as he overturned the glass he had just emptied and placed it over the shot glass, thoroughly encasing Scott’s shot glass inside his own. Scott sputtered in frustration.
“Gordon that’s cheating!” Scott said. Gordon casually picked up the second glass and sipped the orange juice slowly with a grin.
Easiest hundred bucks I’ve ever earned, Gordon thought to himself as he made his way casually through the other glasses, placing the last empty one down and holding out his hand for the money he had just conned his brother out of. Scott grumbled as he reached into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out his wallet, pulling out five twenty dollar bills and putting them in his brother’s outstretched hand.
“I hope you choke on your next glass of orange juice,” Scott said ill temperedly. Gordon laughed and downed the shot glass as well.
“No one likes a sore loser, Scott,” he said. “And you know what? To prove that you aren’t the only sucker in the family, the next brother that walks through the door, I’ll try the same thing on. I’ll even double the bet so you aren’t the biggest loser. But you can’t tell them anything or it will ruin the fun.” Scott rolled his eyes and returned to his coffee, picking it up to help nurse his wounded pride.
Gordon didn’t have long to wait for another brother to awaken. He pulled out the carton of orange juice again, filling up the glasses with a heavy pour as he heard footsteps descending the stairs. He gave a smile as John came into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes sleepily and stifling a yawn. John was always a little tired when he was readjusting his sleep schedule back to earth time.
“Hey Johnny,” Gordon said. “Got a bet for you.” John gave a sleepy glare.
“What kind of a bet? And don’t call me Johnny,” he said grumpily. While Virgil might have been a bear without his coffee, John during his circadian shift was a wolverine. You didn’t really want to incur his displeasure, yet Gordon smiled and pushed on.
“I bet you $200 that I can finish drinking all of these four glasses before you can finish that shot glass of orange juice. Only two rules are that I’m allowed to drink my first glass and put it down before you start and that we can’t touch each other’s glasses.” John looked at the glasses with a calculating expression. Gordon waited as John seemed to consider every angle.”
“Two hundred dollars you say?” John said, hiding another yawn. Gordon nodded.
“Two hundred dollars if you win,” Gordon said. John shook his head.
“I’m not concerned about that,” John said. “You’ve got yourself a deal.” Gordon’s grin widened into one that was almost more piranha than human. Scott pinched the bridge of his nose as John accepted the bet. He really didn’t want to see his smartest brother outwitted by the resident prankster.
“Ready, John?” Gordon asked. John nodded, folding his arms. Gordon picked up the first glass, raised it in a toast and drank it down easily. Gordon looked John in the eye as he encapsulated the shot glass once again. John looked unbothered. “Are you really going to make me finish all these, or are you just going to hand over your two hundred dollars now?” John maintained eye contact with Gordon, continuing to look unruffled.
“Hey, Scott?” John asked. Scott looked surprised at being addressed. He had honestly expected John to be a lot angrier about the outcome of all of this.
“Yeah, John?” John motioned to the cup over the shot glass.
“Mind moving the glass for me?” Gordon’s face paled.
“Hey, hey, hey! That’s cheating!” Gordon said. There was no way that he could finish the glasses before John could if Scott moved the glass. John shook his head.
“You said I couldn’t touch the glass, Gordon. You said nothing about outside help,” he said, as Scott moved over to lift Gordon’s glass. Gordon sputtered protests as John took the shot glass, raised it in a cheers before drinking it down, putting it on the counter. John looked at Gordon.
“I’d like my winnings in big bills,” John said, moving over to the pantry to extract a bagel for his breakfast.
“I hope you choke on that bagel,” Gordon said testily. Not only had he lost the $100 he had won from Scott, he even was out $100 from his own pocket. Scott laughed and smiled over his cup of coffee.
“Come now, Gordon,” he said. “No one likes a sore loser.”
