For the unwritten fics: 7 (for ted, obvs), 10, 15!
7. What are your plans for -character-?
Sorry, this is such a funny question out of context. I have many plans for that sad dad and some of them may even make it into published fics one day but off the top of my head, the gist of my plans are:
Ted gets laid (angsty)
Ted gets laid (happy)
Ted gets laid (emotional)
Ted gets laid (filthy)
Ted comes back to London and his old job
Ted goes on a road trip
and just to cover all my bases, Ted is sad.
15. Do you have any unwritten scene that you think about a lot?
Answered this here! But there's another unwritten thing I guess I think about once in awhile, which I had a vague idea for after the s3 ep where Ted calms himself down from his panic attack but I don't think I'll ever actually write so I'm just gonna summarise the whole thing in a long run-on sentence:
Basically Roy sees/overhears Ted chanting "he's okay" quietly to himself and surmises it's about Henry and he takes Ted outside to look at the moon because when he first went off to Sunderland he called his grandad crying about being so far away and his grandad told him to go outside and look at the moon because no matter how far apart they were they'd always be looking at the same moon and the whole thing is essentially just a conversation they have lying on the pitch while looking up at the sky.
10. If unpublished, can you show a sneak peek of what you've written?
This isn't actually from one of the 'plans' OR the idea mentioned above but it's another one I don't think I'm ever actually going to finish so thought I might as well share some of it. It's a Thanksgiving fic with Henry, Michelle, and Ted's mom all visiting London (established but background T/R iirc). I wrote most of it more than a year ago but surprisingly the Ted's mom characterisation still fits pretty well I think (except her name but that would be pretty cray cray if I guessed it right). Anyway! Here's a little Ted & Michelle part of it (behind a read more since this is already so long).
“Thought you could use this.”
Michelle glances up to see Ted holding a bottle out towards her. The corner of her mouth quirks up. She takes it gratefully, sipping lightly as he settles down next to her on the steps.
“So,” he says after a brief, loaded silence, “you gonna tell me what that was all about back there, or am I gonna have to try this beer tactic with my momma instead?”
Michelle doesn’t crack. “Don’t ask your mom.”
“Okay…” He peers at her. “You realize you’re making me more worried, right? Not less? You can see how you might be doin’ that? With this whole thing?” He gestures between them.
She sighs, holding the bottle to her forehead. “Ted, I’m sorry, but sometimes your mother can be a real—”
“Pain in the ass?” Ted guesses.
“I was gonna say ‘piece of work’ but hey, if you wanna go there…”
“Okay." She lets him tug the bottle away from her face, watching him put it carefully down on the step between them. "Michelle, what on earth is goin' on?”
She sighs again, then finally shifts to face him. “Ted, you know sending Henry to live here…you know that’s as much for him as it is for you, right?”
He swallows audibly. “Are you second-guessing this whole thing, ‘cos I know I’ve always been a bit of a soft touch with him but it’s only been like three months, you gotta give me more of a chance, I promise I’ll—”
“No, Ted, it’s not—” She shakes her head vehemently. “You’re doing fine.” She smiles. “More than fine. Henry seems to have really settled in well here.”
“Oookay…” He tilts his head. “Is that what’s botherin’ you? That he’s doing too well? ‘Cos I swear, he misses you like crazy. And I lied, I’m still a soft touch. I totally bribed him into eating those green beans earlier. But I swear to god, the kid is—”
“No, no, Ted, it’s not—” She cuts him off with a laugh and his mouth falls shut. She stares at him quietly for a long moment before she flicks her gaze away, back out to the long garden. In the dark it looks like it goes on forever.
“God, I’m going to have to tell you, aren’t I.”
“I think so?”
It feels like it’s always like this between them, the punctuation remarks reversed, and it used to be so exhausting, to be the one always carrying around the full stop, but she appreciates it about him more, now, that he doesn’t push. Now that she has some distance, she can fully appreciate the rarity of it, of the way he can prompt and give space all on the same turn.

He was away for work again.
He’s away for work and for the first week he called me non-stop, texted me between cuts, until he wasn’t. I simply chalked it up to the fact his scenes were getting more intense, there would be more takes, not as much free time.
It’s been a week since he last called me, now there’s only two days before he comes home.
Of course he texted me a few times letting me know what he was doing on set and how much he missed me, but days since I had heard his voice. It killed me to miss my boy so much.
And then came the pictures.
The day he was coming home I found out he indeed had time to call me. Instead the days, almost weeks before his arrival, he was pent up on yachts, going to clubs, even a very lengthy outing with his co-stars the night prior to his flight. It wasn’t that I had an issue with him having fun, it wasn’t about cheating, not about a type of envy having the bonding experiences you should with your co-workers as an actor.
It’s completely about the fact he intentionally didn’t call for seven days and I felt my heart drop to the pit of my stomach, what I feel is strictly pain.
I throw my phone down on the bed and collapse on the surface just the same.
I love him with my entire being and I know he does too, or I thought? Does he in this moment? I feel almost betrayed, I feel forgotten, put off.
This is not the first, second, or third time something like this has happened— Honestly, I’d lost count during the years of us being together. It was a fact of principle and that I had made a point to tell him the last time, that it hurts, it hurts deeply to be so disregarded.
I could cry, but that wouldn’t get me anywhere, right? I could blow his phone up with how hurtful it is, but that would also be a dead end.
I rake my mind for solutions. I laid there for what felt like hours before picking up my phone.
‘Hey!’ My friend answers.
“Hey, are you busy this weekend?” I ask.
‘No not at all, why what’s up?’
“I’m- I was wondering if I could come up there for a day or two, I need a girls weekend.” I sigh.
‘You know you’re always welcome here. Why are you even asking? Are you okay?’ She questions.
I let a tear slip and steady my voice, “No, yeah I just need a couple days for me. I’ve been in the house for nearly two months.” I try and manage a chuckle.
‘Will you be here tonight? I thought Tim was..coming back today?’ She prods cautiously.
“He is but I-,” I close my eyes and will myself to be calm, “I’ll explain when I get there okay?” I nearly whisper, two more tears fall from my eyes. There was a pause.
‘Let me know when you leave, okay? I love you.’
“I love you too.” I end the call, getting to my feet and start packing my bag.
It wasn’t long before I had everything I needed for the weekend, I sit the duffle bag on the bed before showering and changing into a clean comfortable outfit. I check the time.
‘7:32 PM’
I could be there in two hours if I leave now I thought to myself.
I rip some notebook paper from an old journal and write Timothée a note explaining where I am, who I’m with, and that my phone won’t be on.
Petty? Probably. But it feels good.
I make my way down the steps and move to open the front door only to have it opened for me.
“My love!” He embraces me, I use my free hand to wrap around him, I indulge the feeling remembering how his warmth feel, how he smells, before pulling away.
“I missed you, missed you so much.” He beams as he kisses my head, standing before me with a wide smile until he saw my bag. I curse myself mentally.
“Where are you going?” He questions, I step aside and he steps into the loft setting his bags down.
I remain silent for a minute, taking him in. He didn’t look the least bit fatigued by the 14-hour flight, by being away for such a period, he looked well rested even. Meanwhile I could feel the bags under my eyes, the knot in my throat prevents me from saying anything immediately, I close my eyes and take a deep breath.
“I um-“ I press my temples with my free hand, “I’m gonna go to The Hamptons, to Rae’s, for the weekend. I just need some time to myself-“ I finally get out.
His face falters and I can feel the tension thicken like being drowned by waves, “Baby, I just got back, please just stay til the morning ?” He cuts in before caressing my face with a grin like nothing was wrong.
This tension is one-sided.
I look up into his eyes feeling myself tear up, “No. No I can’t.” I say quietly, pulling in a sharp breath, “Timothée you— I cant keep getting put off. I can’t keep getting treated as second when you’re away you-“ Hot tears fall down my cheeks, i drop the bag, he lets me go, “I told you how shitty it feels, multiple times, you keep doing it. Why?” My voice breaks as the tears continue to fall.
“W-What do you mean? How shitty what feels?” His voice raises slightly, his face scrunched looking at me.
“This is exactly what I’m talking about.” I let out a soft chuckle, tears continuously streaming down my face, “You act like you do nothing wrong regardless of how many times I bring it up-“
“I didn’t do shit-“ Hee cuts in.
“No Timotheé! You did the ONE fucking thing you always do! You’ve had a whole week to talk to me, seven days! I’ve gotten a mere text for half those if that, I saw the pictures-” I choke on the word, his jaw clenches, “Pictures of what!” He moves closer as he yells, “What did I do-“ I cut him off.
“You’ve been fucking off for nearly two weeks, not caring how it would make me feel, you’re girlfriend,” I’m sobbing now, “Remember me?” I take in a heavy breath.
“I haven’t been fucking off? I do care how you feel I just-“
“It takes seconds to call and let me hear your voice,” I run my hands roughly through my hair, “Seconds that you couldn’t fucking spare out of a week plus!”
“Baby please-‘ He moves to grab my hands.
“No, you don’t get to charm your way out of this,” I wipe my face, “Not this time.” I push past him and grab my bag heading towards the door, I feel resistance.
His hand tightens around the back straps of my bag, “Please don’t, please, I’m,” He pulls me closer to him, caressing my face with his hands, “I’m sorry, please,e Ii’m sorry-“
Tears pool in our eyes as we stare at one another, “Please don’t leave-“ He closes his eyes and sets his forehead on me, his tears falling against my cheek as my own mix with them.
I take a shaky breath, “You keep breaking the boundaries I’ve set,” I sniffle, “I’m tired of being disappointed,” I look up, meeting is teary eyes, “By your empty promises.”
I pull away from his embrace and gather my things, walking to the door, “There’s a note for you upstairs.” I call back not looking at him.
“I love you.” He chokes.
I glance over my shoulder at him, opening the door and throwing my things in the back of my car, starting my drive to The Hamptons.
I see the half mark sign and feel an overwhelming sadness, hot tears testing my eyes. I blink them back.
Love is kind, love is patient.
Love does not dishonor.
Love does not fail.
“You’re okay. It’s gonna be fine.” I repeat to myself.
Love always perseveres.

“No.”
Spencer sighs, “are you going to like any of my suggestions?”
“When you give me a baby name that isn’t from some weird old male book character, then yes, I’ll take them into consideration,” she replies, hand on her stomach as she lays back against the pillows.
She was huge, 9 months pregnant and so, so close to the finish line. She was swollen and in pain and exhausted. Going off every single medication and recreational drugs to make a life was a commitment and a half, she was doing well but she was so ready to be done. To do a few more months of breastfeeding and then go back on her medications.
Spencer was terrific. He was googling and asking Penelope to research things, he had called doctors he knows and friends and did everything in his power to find a way to ease her pain even before they got pregnant. He’s taken the last 3 months off of work and he doesn’t know when he’ll go back. He has just been so, so incredible the whole time.
Naming a child was hard. You had to not only think about all the nicknames and what their initials spell, but you also had to think about how they’ll like it; if it’ll fit their personality and spirit. And most of all, is it going to get them bullied? There are some terrible kid names. Like Richard… how do you name a newborn Richard?
“I want something meaningful with a nice nickname and works with our names and her siblings,” she whispered towards him. “They need to all work together.”
“What are some of your favourites?” He asks, moving in closer and finding a way to cuddle in with her and her pregnancy pillow who has all but replaced him lately.
“I like earthy names, like Lennox, Juniper, Aspen, Elowen,” her voice is really soft, she bites her lip at the end as she thinks them over again. “And old things like Cordelia and Winnifred.”
“Which one sounds the best with Reid?”
“I like Cordelia Reid the most, and then we can call her Edie and I was thinking you can pick her middle name?” She’s been thinking about it for a while, but too afraid to know his opinions.
“Cordelia means core in Latin, which makes sense cause she already has my heart,” Spencer teased, he has made it very clear that their little girl is going to be spoiled, loved and a daddy's girl.
He took all his fears of being a bad dad and threw them out the window. He knew that just being there was all he wanted from his dad, and so that’s what he was going to do. He left the BAU for the time being, he was doing the odd lecture at the academy and answering calls for cases. They couldn’t just stop using his brain, there were some things too pressing to not ask the walking computer, but other than that, he was done.
He was looking into other jobs for when he finally decides to go back, he was unsure how long of a paternity leave he wanted. He was really content with just staying home all the time now, but he did miss going out and being useful during the days. The job he was most interested in, however, was a high school teacher.
A prep school in DC is looking into adding an Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology course to their curriculum, and they wanted Spencer. They thought he would be perfect for the seniors, he is fun and young and attentive, he can control a room and keep them entertained, and he’s probably the best teacher a kid could get.
It was going to make him a good dad too.
“I think Jade is a nice middle name,” he adds after thinking it over for a few minutes.
“Cordelia Jade Reid,” she says the full name for the first time and it just feels right, like they already know her.
She was very calm for a newborn baby.
She liked to just look around and blink, she licked her lips a lot and she was constantly breaking out of her swaddle. She was always happy to have cuddles with her dad and she pooped every night at exactly at 3 am, without fail. She didn’t cry a lot, but when she did it was still wonderful to hear.
They were so in love with her, she was absolutely perfect for them. She fit right into their sleeping schedule and their life, she ate like a pro, she slept most of the night and she was growing way too fast for their liking.
One day they’re crying over the fact they made a life in a tiny little hospital room, and the next thing they know she’s about to turn 1.
She’s sitting in bed with Y/N, she’s sitting in her lap with two handfuls of hair and a story to tell. She’s been babbling so much lately, she hears them talking all the time and she wants to join so badly. They indulge her, asking her to continue her thoughts and gasping at her gossip.
“No way, and what did you do next?!” She asked the little one sat in her lap.
Edie babbled on once more, smacking her tongue on the roof of her mouth as she pushed air past her vocal cords, humming and making the funniest sounds. She went on and on, she was so enthusiastic, like her father, as she waved her arms around to make her point.
“That is so fascinating, you are so cool, little Edie,” Y/N hyped her up, smiling at her as she leaned in close and pressed their noses together.
Cordelia laughed and it finally made Spencer giggle too, he had been watching from the doorway as his ‘wife’ and daughter talked in bed. They were best friends already, always talking and snuggling, learning or reading together. She was always happy when she was with one of them, she was needy and snuggly and very co-dependent but they didn’t mind, they preferred all the attention from her.
“Look who’s home,” Y/N whispered and Cordelia shot a glance towards the door, she smiled and screamed as she saw him.
“Hi Edie!” He waves at her with a smile, he takes his bag off and places it by the dresser followed by his blazer.
He gets into the bed and she instinctively reaches for a hug. He wraps her up and she snuggles right into his neck, with a fistful of his shirt, she just holds him there. She didn’t understand why he wasn’t home all day anymore, she missed him for lunch and at nap time but she loved the new routine of a snuggle when she woke up and he got home.
Spencer leans back against the pillows beside Y/N, turning his head to capture a kiss from her lips. They always just spend a quick second kissing when he gets home, even if it’s just a peck or a full-on passionate make-out, he always kisses her when he comes home. He smiles at the end of the kiss, pulling her into a hug too.
“I love Fridays,” he whispers, “Edie do you know what Fridays mean?”
She pulls away and sits up, she loves to listen to him. “Friday is the last day of the school week, which means I get to spend 2 whole days with my favourite people now.”
Edie smiled, almost like she understood what he meant, and then she was talking again, it was completely incomprehensible but they imagined she was telling him about her day.
“You forgot the part where we went to the park,” Y/N added.
Cordelia looked at her with wide eyes, “dada,” was the only word she said before babbling on again and they both stopped.
“Did she just?” Spencer was shocked and frozen still after asking.
Y/N sat up and looked right into Cordelia’s eyes, “who is that?” She pointed at Spencer.
“Dada!” She said it again and they were suddenly all squealing, even Cordelia was suddenly excited as she kept screaming dada over and over again.
“Can you say, mom? Or mama? Mummy?” Spencer tried his hardest to find an easy way for her to say it.
“Mumm,” she pushed her lips together to hum her M sound and Spencer was floored, he bounced her up and down a small amount as they cheered.
“Smartest girl in the world!” Spencer cheered her on before pulling her into another hug.
Y/N was crying softly, little tiny dreams that she didn’t even know she had were coming true every single day with them. She knew she wanted to be a mom when she was growing up, all those dreams died when her illness got worse and they all warned her that having kids would put her at risk of being moneyless and that working wasn’t an option to even support them. Let alone the threat of them taking them away just because of her autism or depression possibly being considered ‘too bad’ to care for them.
Spencer took all those fears and he kicked them out. Every day she got to experience the most precious gifts the world had to offer, her daughter was perfect and her husband was incredible. Together they were a perfect little family that ran on trust, love, and communication. Always talking, always hugging, always there for each other.
They crawl into bed much later than they expected to. Cordelia didn’t want to go to bed, she was trying her hardest to keep staying awake to spend time with them but eventually, sleep won. They finally placed her in her crib with her white noise and her complete darkness and closed her door for the next few hours of peace.
They both let out a deep sigh before rolling to face one another. “How was your day?” He asks, like always.
“Good,” she smiles, “I think having a kid and getting on her schedule was the best thing I’ve ever done actually, cause I’m sleeping on time, I’m eating when she does and I’m outside a lot more. She’s given me this purpose and it’s rewarding on my body.”
Spencer moves in so he can kiss her nose, “I love hearing that.”
“How was your class today?” She asks back, loving his little stories about all the 17 and 18-year-olds that were fascinated by him. As well as the kids who thought it was cool to try and pick on him before getting the shit verbally kicked out of them in front of the whole class.
It was interesting seeing him in a form of authority, he never really took charge at the BAU, she’s never seen him yell at his friends and he’s never really yelled at her either. He’s been incredibly calm, so to see him verbally tear someone apart by acknowledging their biggest flaws to make sense of why they feel the need to bully, it was pretty intense.
“They were a lot better today, they enjoyed the lesson and the kids that were giving me trouble skipped, I guess he really didn’t appreciate me calling him out that bad on Tuesday,” Spencer smirked, rolling his eyes like he cared.
“I still can’t believe that he thought it was okay to call you names in front of other students, where is the respect these days?”
“Well,” he’s about to do what he always does. He can never be truly mad at someone because he knows why everyone does what they do and that they can’t help it. “In his file, it says his parents are newly divorced, we get a list of all the kids information on the attendance like allergies and things, but also small info like life changes in case they act out.”
“Doesn’t mean he can call you the f slur,” she whispers, “all because you wore a purple shirt?”
“If I met his father I’d probably get an answer for that,” he adds, “if he’s afraid to show his emotions around his son, it’s probably why his son thinks colours are gay.”
It makes her laugh, “you look hot in purple too so I don’t see the problem?”
“Do I?” He teases, getting in even closer and pressing their bodies together.
She rolls her eyes before wrapping her arms around him and leaning forward for a quick kiss, “I think you look sexy all the time.”
He kisses her as a thank you, “I think the same about you.”
“Even when I haven’t showered in 2 days because she cries if she can’t see me and she cries if she gets wet?” Y/N laughed, annoyed but in love with their little monster at the same time.
“Always,” he reminds her. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” she kisses him again after.
There are probably a million more things to share from the day, but they spend their time kissing instead. It’s been too long since they’ve just rolled around in the sheets making out like they did in the beginning. Before they ever had sex, before they had kids and a house and a love as strong as they do now.
A part of them missed the early days when everything was new and exciting, but she also loved the fact that they knew each other so well that they didn’t have to communicate anymore. They ran like 1 unit, always completing the other person's thoughts, needs and wants. They were so unbelievably happy.
She wants him badly and he wants her just as much, and he’s about to take her when she pulls back. “Nope, as much as I love her I can’t get pregnant again for at least another year.”
It makes him laugh as he pulls away and rolls over to look through his nightstand for a condom, “it wouldn’t be that bad?”
“You carry it then, seahorse it up,” she teased. “I like being back on my medicine, I need some time to be okay before I go through all that again.”
Once he’s all situated in the latex and back between her legs, he hovers over her, so close that their lips are touching ever so slightly. “I am fine if it’s just the three of us forever.”
“I’m not,” she smiles, “there will be 4 of us one day, just not today.”
With that, she’s pulling him into another kiss as he pushing inside. It’s a feeling she’s accustomed to but will never be used to, it’s a stretch that shouldn’t be as intoxicating as it is. She holds him closer as she plays with his tongue in her mouth.
He was so good at everything he did, especially the sex. He knew every single part of her body now and exactly how to push all her buttons the right way. She could live in the moment of his pumping in and out of her while his thumb circled her clit and his other hand groaned her breasts. Eventually, he kissed down her throat and she was a mess of breathy moans and low gasps.
Writing in the sheets, her legs wrap around him as she tried to pull him in even closer. It was impossible to get closer but he was still too far away, she wanted to absorb him and live in him forever. He was her safe place and she never wanted to be anywhere else.
As her orgasm bubbled, so did his. The both of them gasping and panting, she whined as she breached the edge and gripped his back, “Spence!”
“That’s it, sweetheart,” he whispered before fucking into her harder and faster, pushing her through it as he reached his own.
His movements on her clit never stopped and suddenly one felt like two and she wasn’t sure when the rush was going to stop and she didn’t care when it did. It was powerful, soothing and euphoric. A high she could live in for a while and return to it without problem as long as she had him.
He came with a small moan, trying to keep quiet as he muffled it into her neck, stilling his hips on his last thrust and dropping onto her more. Her hands were all over his back as she pressed kisses to his forehead, coming down but not wanting the love to stop there.
The love was never going to stop there for them. Their love was never-ending, and somehow as she held him there in her arms and felt his breath on his neck, she turned to see the baby monitor with their peaceful child sound asleep down the hall, she loved him even more now somehow.
Loving Spencer Reid was like falling down a bottomless pit. She never knew when she was going to reach the end, but she was content with falling.

Listen I know that Jack had to “grow up fast” because the world is a “dangerous place” or whatever but if he was born a baby?? I would’ve watched the hell out of that show. Just two dudes, their mum and an angel raising the devil’s baby. Because I say that they kicked Lucifer’s ass to the alternate world and everyone lives (except Kelly. Sorry.). Could you imagine?
You have Mary; the woman who has experience in raising two babies, even if one was only for six months.
You have Dean; the man who basically raised Sam and has vague memories of helping out when his brother was a baby. Helped Lisa with her son and baby niece. Took care of a shapeshifter baby for a day. Also had a daughter for a couple of days but didn’t interact with her much.
You have Sam; not much experience. Also took care of a shapeshifter baby for a day. Strong in research, might manage to find them at least a paragraph of how to raise a nephilim. Killed his niece. Not a great sign but he promises he won’t do that this time.
You have Castiel; the angel expert. Is a literal angel. Has no experience with babies apart from that one night he babysat for his co-worker. Kind-of-sort-of-not-really a dad to a teenage girl. Only times he’s had to interact with a nephilim is when he’s been ordered to kill one, so, not a good sign but he promises he won’t do that this time.
Together, they make do. But holy shit is raising Jack tough.
He may not have a true form like Castiel but he does have wings and a true voice. Which he can’t control. So the tantrums. The tantrums. When he was born he made their ears bleed from the crying, and the lights exploded. Cas was miraculously able to calm him down before further damage was done, but the humans always make sure to have earplugs on them from then on. They also had to buy a large supply of lightbulbs to replace the ones in the bunker every time he cries.
They had to baby proof the bunker. And I mean baby proof the hell out of the bunker. You think a normal house can be dangerous for a baby? The bunker is huge. And full of knives, guns, spellbooks, ancient artifacts, and just about a thousand other things that are not. good. to have around a baby. The baby proofing took a week. Two days of exploring the bunker and recording everything that needed to be baby-proofed, two shopping trips in a day to buy the things needed, and another three days of installing everything. Cas had to stay with Jack in his room while Mary, Sam and Dean did all the baby proofing.
(also yes this is an AU in which Dean and Cas get their shit together, confess their feelings, build a house and raise Jack as his dads. the build a house part comes in when Jack is like 3)
The absolute freakout Dean had when Jack flew the first time. It happened when he was five months old, and Dean was changing his diaper. He turned around for a second to throw out the wipes. Heard the flap of wings, turned back around with a greeting for Cas on his lips, and Jack was gone. It went like this: Dean, staring at the empty table: ... Jack? Jack- *realisation* Cas! Cas, the baby’s gone! Cas! The baby can fly! Baby’s flying- Cas, appearing in front of him with a giggling Jack in his arms: yes, I am well aware Dean: oh my god- Jack: *disappears again* Dean: *yelps in alarm* Cas: *simply reaches up and just. plucks Jack out of thin air. one moment there’s empty air and the next Jack is just in Cas’ hands* Cas: this may become... difficult Dean, leaning over with his hands on his knees: I’m gonna have a heart attack
Turns out, baby Jack can heal! Which is what Mary discovered when once she had held Jack after coming back from a hunt with a few scrapes, they miraculously disappeared.
You know when toddlers will get into the flour and leave a mess that you have to clean up for the next two hours? Yeah, well Jack got into a box of spellbooks and opened one which released monsters from fables. So that was a very panic-filled 6 hours that included Sam, Dean and Mary researching how to put them back / kill them while Cas held Jack close to make sure he didn’t fly away. Turns out, baby-proofing a bunker is pretty useless when said baby can fly through walls.
Apart from the many mishaps thathappened during raising Jack from infancy to toddlerhood, he’s just a weird kid. And kids are usually weird, but Jack is weird.
Sam basically sprinted back to the car with a five-year-old Jack in his arms after Jack had held a woman’s hand in his at a playground and gently told her, “the events that lead to your father’s death were never your fault. He is in his Heaven now and although he is at peace, he begs that you make room in your heart for forgiveness of his wrong doings.” Yeah, they were very close to moving town when that happened.
One day when he was 6, he walked outside into the back yard and just sat down in a random spot and stared at the ground. After a couple of minutes of glancing out the window to check on him, Dean walked up to him. Dean: whatchu up to, kid? Jack: there is a daisy that is going to grow and bloom here in 15 days. I’ve never seen a flower grow. I would like to watch it, if that’s okay? Dean: you want to sit here, in this exact spot, for 15 days so you can watch a flower grow? Jack, still not taking his eyes off the spot: yes Dean, who’s honestly used to this behaviour after witnessing it for the past two years: ... alright, sure. I’ll bring you dinner in a couple of hours, that sound good? Jack, finally looking up with a beaming smile: yes, thank you! (Cas and Dean did not let him sit in the same spot for 15 days. They did sit next to him for like two hours when the daisy did bloom, though. And despite the creak and buzzing ache in his knees and back, Dean can’t find it in himself to regret it.)
he had a phase when he was 7 where he would say hi to everyone he came across. Everyone. Dean and Cas cannot make one shopping trip with him without everyone in that store knowing Jack’s name. He says bye when they leave too. 100% every time they get at least 5 people saying bye back.
On the year he turned 8 they decided to enrol him in school. After weeks of telling him not be “weird” and teaching him to be as normal of a kid as he could be. When the 4 of them are confidant that he won’t go around using his powers, they enrol him. They did not anticipate the school calling him the first day, telling them that Jack had explained to the other kids that Santa isn’t real and they should “learn to not set themselves up for disappointment or believe what their parents say” which caused the entire class to burst out into tears. It was another “maybe we should move town” moment.
Another kid: my dad broke his leg. he has to walk with crutches now. sometimes he lets me use them! Jack: both my dads have died. one of them was torn to shreds by hellhounds who then dragged his soul down to hell where he was tortured for 40 years, but then father rescued him, that was how they met. but then father was blown to bits by my biological father. but then my grandfather resurrected him! they’re fine now.  Their teacher: uh, wow... Jack. sure sounds like you have some very vivid dreams Jack, remembering he’s not supposed to talk about this kind of stuff: ah, yes, of course... dreams. I woke up... crying. a lot. the dreams... scared me.
I have... so many other little moments in my head, but this post is already so long so let me know if anyone wants more.

Nobody's Perfect (part7)
Will Liane crash the wedding?
Warning - angst / injury
Taglist @queenshelby @margoo0 @being-worthy @peakyscillian @ntmynouis @janelongxox @elenavampire21 @noctvrnalmoth @ysmmsy @cloudofdisney @lauren-raines-x @namelesslosers
You woke in Cillian's childhood bedroom to the sound of his alarm going off. Fortunately he had a double bed, even though the way the two of you curled into each other, a single would've been fine.
"Morning beautiful lady..." He always woke you up like that, with a gentle kiss on the top of your head.
"Morning handsome. How you feeling about your baby sister getting married?"
"Weird. She's still 7 in my head. It's really odd!"
"She was telling me about her dress last night, it sounds beautiful."
"I'm sure it will be. Come on, me mother will be downstairs already fretting and I'm gonna be kicked out in 30minutes so you women can do whatever it is you women do before a wedding..."
"Am I not coming with you?"
"Nope. I'm going to be with the other groomsmen making sure Damien doesn't do a runner."
You laughed and dragged yourselves out of bed to get ready.
You'd arrived at the venue with 5 minutes to spare. Everyone, including Cillian, would be inside waiting for the bride. You headed into the toilets to touch your lipstick up before heading inside to wait yourself. Walking in, you noticed a blond woman doing the same as you. You smiled warmly, but she didn't return it. Not everyone in his family is as friendly as the others, clearly.
Thinking no more of it, you applied your lipstick and headed back to the wedding. Spotting Cillian at the front adjusting Damien's cravat, your heart soared. He looked incredible in his navy blue groomsman suit, combined with an ivory shirt and red rose boutonnière. His Peaky haircut only added to the attraction.
Silé and her father entered the room as A Thousand Years by Christina Perri played softly on the piano in the corner. You couldn't help but watch Cillian as he winked at his sister walking towards him and Damien at the altar. He wasn't just a groomsman, he was the best man. And what a best man he was. He nudged Damien, and he turned round, tears in his eyes as he watched his soon-to-be wife approach him. Cillian caught your eye and he smiled.
The ceremony over, it was time for drinks on the large patio area outside. You were stood talking to Cillian's youngest sister Orla when two hands wrapped themselves round your waist, and a pair of lips on your neck.
"Hey beautiful..." Orla made a vomit face, making you laugh as you turned and faced him.
"My word Mr Murphy, don't you scrub up well?"
"Not so bad yourself there." He held you at arms length, admiring the floor length light blue summer dress you'd chosen.
"Does this mean there's going to be an epic best man's speech from you then?"
"Yep. Had it written for months. Plan on embarrassing the shit out my little sister - perfect revenge for the stories I'm sure she told you last night." He smirked.
You were sat next to Cillian's other siblings at the wedding breakfast - there was a seat spare anyway - this wedding was three years in the planning, that seat would have been Liane's when it was put together. Silé had left it empty on the off chance her brother would find someone. Eventually, the time came for Cillian's speech. He took the microphone, and stood. Starting with the obligatory thanking everyone for coming, before cracking jokes about how he used to play practical jokes on his sister, and how he'd set her up on a blind date with Damien six years earlier. Liane got a mention - only to say that Damien setting him up with his sister 6 years earlier than that hadn't exactly gone to plan.
"I've only just forgiven you for that," he smiled, earning a laugh from the crowd. He made eye contact with you, and was about to speak before a voice from the back of the room interrupted him.
"Wasn't all that bad now, was it Cillian?" The room fell silent, you saw Cillian's face turn white as a sheet. Turning round, you saw the blond lady from the toilets earlier... It couldn't be...
"Can't have all been bad, you married me after 6 months of dating, didn't you?" Cillian cleared his throat, determined not to ruin his sister's wedding day.
"Liane, come on.." Orla took her shoulder and tried to walk her out of the room, but she was shoved violently away and hit the floor. Cillian had seen enough at that point and made his way over, pulling Orla off the floor and glaring at Liane.
"You need to leave, now, before I make you leave.." he seethed.
"Doesn't 12 years of marriage mean anything to you?!"
"Liane this is my sister's wedding day! We're not doing this now!"
"And who's this little slut you've brought with you, huh?" She turned to you, glaring as she made her way over. You were frozen to your seat as she picked up a wine glass and smashed it off the side of the table. Cillian shouted for someone to call the police as he grabbed her from behind and pulled her backwards onto a table. He managed to pin her to the floor, holding her hands up, writhing against him trying to get at you.
"Can someone take over.." he groaned, as Padraig grabbed her arms, another man had her legs. Cillian stumbled backwards, and you saw him clutch at his abdomen, blood on his hands and over his shirt. It was then you realised she wasn't holding the glass anymore..
"Someone call an ambulance!"
*************************************************************
You'd been waiting at the hospital for hours. As soon as he'd arrived he'd gone straight in for surgery. You'd gone in the ambulance with him, his mum and dad followed in the car. Everyone else stayed to give the police statements after Liane had been arrested.
His mum was holding your hand in the private room when the doctor finally came in.
"We managed to get all the glass shards out, and stitched him up. It went deep - a few centimetres to the left and she would have hit an artery. He'll need to stay for a couple of days so we can keep an eye on him, but he's awake now. He's asking for y/n?" His mum squeezed your hand. The doctor led you through to his room and you took a breath before going in. He was lying on the bed, wires in his arms and a sleepy look in his eyes, but he still shot you a smile.
"Feels like I'm filming 28 Days Later all over again," he smirked.
"You scared the shit out of me Cill..." The tears finally fell, you'd held them back up to this point but you couldn't stop them now. You sat next to his bed and held his hand, sobbing into it as he stroked your hair with his other hand.
"Just a scratch y/n. Better that than what I thought was gonna happen."
"There was so much blood..."
"She did a good job didn't she? Fuck it hurts..." He chuckled and immediately regretted it.
"Can you get my mam?" You nodded and went to fetch her. She came into to room and kissed Cillian's head lightly.
"Mam, y/n is good to stay with you til I'm outta here, right?"
"Not even a question son, you know that! Plenty of old photo albums I can show her." She smirked. So that's where he got that from...
"On second thoughts, maybe you should head to my place in Dublin..." He laughed nervously.
"Mrs Murphy I don't want to be a bother..."
"Shh now, I won't hear another word of it. You'll stay with us as long as you need to." You kissed Cillian's hand, a few tears still falling down your cheeks.
"Don't wind up the nurses Cill..." You warned, his mother told you the last time he was in hospital he spent the majority of the tine doing just that.
"Won't be flirting with them this time though at least." You raised an eyebrow, his mum slapped his shoulder.
Back at his mum's house, you'd settled on the sofa, his Dad on the armchair still in a bit of a daze and his mum bringing you a glass of wine.
"How's Silé and Damien?" You asked as she sat down next to you.
"They're more concerned about Cillian than the wedding - as long as he's okay, they're okay."
"Was she always crazy? Liane?"
"Not at first. She was a sweetheart. Once they got married and Cillian became more famous, she changed. Became possessive over him. Always checking up on him, making sure he wasn't having his way with co-stars... Ironic really!" She laughed.
"I'm so sorry for all of this... She wouldn't have done it if I'd not been there..."
"Not another word of it - the woman's a nutcase. This isn't your fault at all. I haven't seen my son this happy for years - and I mean it. If anything, I thank you for that." She took your hand as you welled up, and pulled you into a huge hug.
"You've all been so wonderful... Sorry I keep crying, my emotions are all over the place..."
"Understandable, it's been a hell of a day. Take yourself off.to get some rest. I'll wake you in the morning, we can go see Cillian. Maybe a spot of shopping after, what do you say?"
You grinned, and nodded. Saying goodnight you headed upstairs. Getting into bed, you sent a text to Cillian.
"Hope you're okay? I'm heading to bed, love you X"
He didn't reply but you figured he was probably resting, until his dad shouted up the stairs.
"Y/n??!!!" You rushed out of bed and ran downstairs.
"What's wrong?"
"Cillian's in a bad way, we need to get to the hospital now..."

SEVEN DAYS
pairing: akaashi keiji x f!reader
genre: tooth rotting fluff
synopsis: despite the chaos in your busy week, akaashi is always there to remind you that no matter what the inconvenience, he’ll always be there by your side seven days a week one way or another.
Tumblr media
YOU KNOW IT’S MORNING when the golden rays of sunshine filters through the blinds of your shared bedroom with akaashi and you can’t help but mutter a small ‘5 more minutes’ when you feel a hand try and shake your body awake.
“babe it’s 7:20 right now,” he says with a deep chuckle as he rubs his eyes. “we both know that if you fall back asleep now then you’re never gonna wake up again.”
you peek your head out from under the blanket and when you see your boyfriend’s bed head, (that makes him look even more adorable than he already does and you mentally curse him for being able to work a bed head) you find it difficult to shoot back a snarky remark to his comment— and it is proven especially difficult when he’s looking at you with the most love struck expression on his face.
“fine! you win!” you sigh before sitting up, letting the blanket fall down to your lap.
akaashi extends his hand out to fix the strap of your pajama top when he notices that it slipped off your shoulder: to which you thank him by placing a small kiss onto his jawline, causing his lips to curve into a smile.
his hand cups your cheek, which startles you for a moment, but then he gently guides your face closer to his so that he can pull you in for a sensual kiss that leaves your mind feeling fuzzy.
when you two finally pull away and you’re able to recollect your thoughts, a lopsided grin makes its way onto your face and akaashi playfully rolls his eyes as he can practically feel the words that are about to leave your lips in his bones.
“ew morning breath,” you cackle and even though you think that it’s the most ugliest laugh in the world, akaashi thinks that it’s one of his favorite things to hear because it’s your most genuine form of laughter. “you must reaaally be in love with me!”
“i am really in love with you y/n.” he says, deciding to give into your ego for just one day.
“that’s good,” your eyes crinkle as you give him a soft smile. “because i’m really in love with you too.”
“...but don’t think that your love confession is gonna land you an extra 5 minutes of sleep.”
“way to kill the mood keiji!” you pout.
“c’mon let’s go freshen up together.” he says while ushering you out of bed and into the bathroom.
Tumblr media
“no i’m just saying, if you’re gonna bitch about my work being ‘inadequate’ then you should really be worrying about yourself more than other people cause boy do i have some news for you.” you complained as you lathered your hair in shampoo before massaging it into your scalp.
“your co worker... sounds like... a real handful.” akaashi says in between breaks while he’s brushing his teeth.
“that’s what i’m saying— oh! can you pass me my face wash keiji?”
you hear a bit of shuffling before akaashi sticks his arm into the shower from behind the curtain with a bottle in his hand.
“babe...” you push his hand back out. “that’s moisturizer.”
“oh my bad.” he lets out a small ‘oops’ before going back to the cabinet above your sink and maneuvering around your other numerous skincare products, reading all the labels to make sure he grabs the facial wash this time and hands you it.
“thanks!” you’re about to grab the face wash from his hand when an idea suddenly pops into your head.
you quickly twist the shower knob so that the water goes from hot to cold before grabbing his hand, along with your face wash which was still in his hand as well, and pulling it under the water coming from the shower head.
akaashi lets out a shriek as the water practically hits his entire arm while you’re laughing your ass off with your hair in a makeshift bun using the shampoo that was still in your hair.
“y/n!” he yanks his arm out of your grasp and you peek out into the outside world from behind the shower curtain, where you can see akaashi holding his arm to his chest on the other side of the bathroom.
“you’re being such a baby keiji!” you giggle.
“ha ha very funny, you better be careful because who knows,” his lips curl into a mischievous smirk. “after your shower tonight you may or may not have hair afterwards.”
“you wouldn’t!” you gasp dramatically. “don’t nair me, please! i’m sorry!”
you’re gripping onto the shower curtain, spewing out apology after apology while akaashi stands there amused with how you can go from a devious little thing to an apology spitting machine within a just a few seconds.
“i’ll forgive you, but only because i’m a much more mature person than you.” he teases.
“yeah right! remember when i forgot to record your favorite tv show that one time and then you ate all of my snacks the following week?” you try defending yourself as you go back to finish washing your hair.
“no way, that never happened.” he lies straight through his teeth— which you do not appreciate.
“yes it did! i even have the video of you being all whiny to prove my point and if you don’t admit to your actions then i’ll send it to the group chat with bokuto, kuroo, and tsukishima!”
“fine it did happen! just don’t send it to them or else i’ll never hear the end of it,” he puts his hands up in mock surrender before spitting out the rest of the toothpaste in his mouth into the sink and rinsing it out. “i’m trying to keep the cool and aloof persona going you know?”
you snort.
“just imagine when they find out that akaashi keiji isn’t actually the cool guy type they think he is but instead a dorky sap who’s in love with l/n y/n!”
“but i don’t blame you,” you add. “who wouldn’t be in love with me?”
“i sure hope no one is because you’re my girlfriend.” he scoffs.
“ooo possessive, i like that look on you keiji.” your laughter fills the entire bathroom.
“yeah? less talking more washing y/n, it’s 7:55 now.” he reminds you.
“oh shit! why didn’t you tell me before!?” you cry out as you frantically wash out the rest of the shampoo in your hair and rub in some conditioner into the ends of your hair before completely rinsing out the rest of the product in your hair.
“maybe if you weren’t so busy planning to prank me then you would’ve been out of the shower 5 minutes ago.”
“i said i’m sorry!” you wring out all the water in your hair before grabbing a towel to wrap around your entire body and then running into your bedroom to quickly get dressed.
after you slip into some jeans and a loose button up, you sit down in front of your vanity to begin putting on some makeup— but remembering to keep it light enough so that it doesn’t feel heavy over the course of the long day you’re going to have at work.
as you’re about to reach for your concealer, you can see akaashi pop up from behind you in the mirror and you immediately take notice of the blow dryer in his hands.
“want some help? your hair is still wet and i don’t think you want to show up to work with it wet.” he asks as he saunters up to the electrical outlet next to the vanity.
“yes please keiji, you’re a life saver.” you press a chaste kiss onto his cheek before turning around and getting to work on your face.
as akaashi plugs in the blow dryer and begins to dry your hair for you, he makes sure not to ruffle it too much in fear of messing up your makeup and having you re-do it, resulting in you being late for work.
“your fingers feel really nice,” you say out of the blue and just as he’s about to make a sexual comment, you’re quick to interrupt him by adding along to your previous statement. “not in that way idiot, it’s just... i feel like i wanna fall asleep or something.”
“i think that’s the last thing we both want happening.” he jokes which prompts you both to laugh at the same time.
“mhm, i’m just really glad to have you here with me though,” you grin and he catches it when he looks at you through the mirror. “like what boyfriend is willing to blow dry their girlfriend’s hair for them when they’re running late for work?”
“i’m sure there are plenty of other good guys out there.”
“but good thing i have the one and only akaashi keiji all to myself.” you smile sheepishly.
“oh and i’m the sap in the relationship? i’m starting to think you’re the real sap here.”
“as if! says the guy who practically spews out love confessions for his girlfriend while he’s completely wasted after 2 bottles of beer.” you snicker.
instead of trying to start a banter with you, he decides to focus at the task at hand and finishes drying your hair before turning the blow dryer off and then proceeding to grab a brush and brush your hair out in order to get rid of the knots he created while he was drying it.
"thanks babe!" you give him another kiss, this time on his lips, after he announces that he was finished with your hair.
you spray a bit of perfume on yourself, grab your purse and then slip on a pair of shoes when you get to the front door.
"wait, y/n!" you see akaashi run out of your bedroom and make his way over to you before pulling you in for a hug. “stay safe and call me when you’re done with work alright?”
“yes i will, and ramen tonight? i’ve been craving some and i’ll probably stop by the grocery store today after work so i can pick up some other stuff.” you pull away a bit so that you can look up at his face but still have your arms wrapped around his mid section.
“sounds good, do you want to just come home first and we can just go together?” he starts to sway your bodies back and forth.
“and you can pay for us? deal!” you give the male one last kiss on his lips before slipping away, not giving him the chance to protest (not that he was going to anyways, he would never let you pay for anything while you were in his presence.)
“i love you, have a nice day at work!” was the last thing he heard before you completely shut the door on him.
Tumblr media

Took you long enough
Title: Took you long enough
Pairings: Sebastian Stan x f!reader
Warnings: angst with a happy ending, explicit language, age gap, corruption kink if you squint
Wordcount: 2.9k
Masterlist
To say that these past few months have been stressful is an understatement. You were an aspiring actress and somehow landed a pretty big role in a movie. It already had some famous names attached to it and you were quite intimidated to star along the other actors. But nonetheless, you put on your big girl pants and took the opportunity. Caught in a loop of constant stress, memorizing the lines, filming the scenes, promoting the movie, you had only so much time to really appreciate what was going on. It was only after the first month of filming you realized what the hell was actually happening.
Your co-star Sebastian Stan has helped you a lot with handling everything. You remember, when you found out he was starring in the movie as well, you almost passed out. Getting to know him was such a surreal experience. Although you had a big crush on him, you stayed respectful towards him and you two became rather close friends.
To be honest, the more you got to know him, the more you liked him. And this time it wasn’t just a platonic crush. You tried to fight it, but your struggles were fruitless. You had it bad for your best friend. Acting on your feelings was not an option however. It was no secret that no woman occupied his bedroom for more than one night. You knew it was bad news to fall for him, yet you couldn’t help yourself. You liked how he didn’t pretend, but actually listened to you. How he seemed to remember even the little details you mentioned to him. How protective he was of you from the day you met, especially while defending you when people called you “the new kid” - the nickname stuck with you during the whole period of filming, much to your dislike. You knew they meant well when they called you that nickname, trying to make you feel like a part of the group. You were much younger than most of the cast, but you didn’t think of yourself as a child anymore. It seemed impossible to convince others of that, though.
Only a few people respected you enough not to use that nickname - one of them being Sebastian. At times you thought he didn’t see you as a kid with the way he treated you and you were naïve enough to get your hopes up. That was a mistake, you thought, as you watched the interview Sebastian had done earlier that day. He was asked about the cast members. You anxiously waited for your name to be mentioned, palms sweating as you guessed what he would say about you.
“What about Y/N? You seem close, not to mention how often you are spotted together.” The interviewer raised his brow, as he waited for an answer.
Sebastian smiled widely as he answered: “Yeah, we are really close. She’s like a little sister I never had, you know?”
Your heart clenched painfully, as you stopped the video. You just had to accept that it would never work. How could you be so stupid to think he’d actually like you, when he had so many women at his feet, begging to be noticed by him. You were thankful you were his friend - that had to be enough. It wasn’t, though. No matter what you told yourself, you always ended up thinking about him in inappropriate ways.
The door on your trailer opened and revealed happy Sebastian with take out.
“Hey, I thought to bring you some food, since it’s going to be a long day today.” He smiled at you as he sat down next to you on the couch, handing you your food.
“Thanks.” You smiled back. You didn’t waste time and dug in, only now realizing how hungry you were. He seemed to know you better than you knew yourself.
Sebastian broke the comfortable silence: “Hey, so, I want to ask you for advice.” Did he seem nervous? No, you thought as you hinted him to ask away.
“There’s this woman, that I like. I shouldn’t, but something about her is so intriguing, I can’t help it. And I don’t know what to do,” he confessed.
“I can’t believe you are asking me for an advice on how to pick up women. You getting rusty, old man?” You joked, as his face fell in disappointment.
“I’m serious, Y/N. I think I’m ready to go all the way with her. But she’s not really – uhm, how to put it – available. That’s why I’m so nervous about it,” he sighed, as he ran a hand through his hair.
“Right, sorry. But still, I think you’re perfectly fine. Just ask her out. She’d be stupid to reject you,” you spoke sincerely.
“Thanks, I’ll go for it then.”
The rest of the lunch was enjoyed in silence.
Few days have passed and your mood seem to only decrease as the time went on. You secretly hoped Sebastian was talking about you and that he would ask you out later. But this was your life, not a romcom. Your hopes were crushed, when you asked Sebastian about it and he confirmed what seemed like your worst nightmare.
“She said yes!” he exclaimed excitedly and you gave him a hug to hide the mixture of unpleasant emotions plastered on your face.
“I’m so happy for you,” and you were, truly. As long as he was happy, you would be too. But why did it hurt so much anyway?
Ever since then, you just weren’t your ever smiling self. What you were was a millennial and you did what millennials knew best – repressed your emotions. Stuffed them deep inside your soul where nobody could acknowledge them, not even you.
The days seemed repetitive. You were exhausted from putting up a show not only when you were filming, but now also when you were in a company of your friends. Luckily, there was only one scene to film and then a much needed vacation awaited.
“CUT!” screamed the director. “What the hell Y/N?! This is the seventh take and you still can’t get it right.”
“I’m sorry, sir. I’ll get it this time, I swear,” you apologized and immediately took your spot, wanting nothing more, than to finish this scene, go home and curl up in bed while watching your favourite show.
Today was just one of those days, when it seemed like the whole universe conspired against you. First, your alarm didn’t go off, which resulted in being late on your last day. Your hands were shaking by the time you got to the set and you managed to knock over the cup of coffee, just barely missing your costume. Not to mention how anxious you were, since you were purposely avoiding Sebastian. You only missed him more and yet, you couldn’t stand being in his presence. It hurt not being able to look into his eyes. This all held you back from giving a flawless performance in front of the camera, which only frustrated you even more.
“We believe in you, kid. Breathe, focus. Action!” You were truly thankful for the support, as you finally got the scene right.
“And cut! We got it! Ok, that’s it, guys. It’s been pleasure to work with you all. As you may have heard, there will be an afterparty, if you will, tonight. Please, do come! Till then have a great day everyone!” Finished the director and people started to clap. There has been a heavy boulder of a rock lifted from your shoulders as you realized this was it. You quickly said your goodbyes to everyone, eager to go home and hide.
“Y/N! Wait!” you were on your way out when you heard your name being called. You sighed and put on a smile, before you faced Sebastian.
“Hi, I’ve tried to call you, but you weren’t picking up. You’ve been distant lately. Have you been avoiding me?” He accused.
“No! No, I uh… My phone has been malfunctioning these days, I’m getting it repaired soon,” you weren’t proud of yourself for lying to him, but you weren’t ready to tell him the truth just yet.
“Are you coming to the afterparty?” It was obvious he didn’t buy your white lie, but decided not to ponder on it.
“Oh, I don’t think I am. I’ve had an extraordinarily shitty day and I don’t wanna be a party pooper.” You immediately gave him a list of excuses.
“Yeah, yeah, quit it, queen. I’ll pick you up at 7.” He left you no space to argue and just walked away. You shook your head in disbelief and made your way home.
“Finally,” you exhaled a big breath once you collapsed on your bed. Sleep was an alluring way how to avoid your problems. So, you did the reasonable thing and took a nap.
You woke up right as the sun was setting. You still hadn’t decided if you were going to go to that stupid get together or not. You knew it would be a nice change of pace, to let go for one night. Afterall, it was a celebration of the hard work the cast had done. On the other hand, Sebastian would be there. And now that you thought about it, he would probably bring that woman, he asked out earlier. You weren’t ready to see Sebastian all lovey dovey with someone else, god no.
But this was also the chance to see him for the last time. You weren’t sure if he would keep hanging out with you after the movie was done. Tears stung in your eyes as you realized that he would probably cut ties with you. Sure, you would call each other once a week, then once a month, then only on holidays and then he would eventually stop calling you whatsoever. You were going to lose him. You were so sure of it. The tears were now streaming freely down your cheeks as you hyperventilated. All of those emotions that were supposed to stay stored away came at you at once, demanding to be experienced, to be felt.
You couldn’t calm down and there was only one person who was able to soothe you. Your best friend from high school. Due to your career you two weren’t hanging out as often as you’d like, but your bond hadn’t suffered because of that. You dialled her number after you blew your nose, so you were able to somewhat form words.
“Hi, Y/N! Oh my god, it’s been so long since we’ve actually talked!” You sobbed even harder when you heard her enthusiastic voice.
“Baby, what’s wrong? Talk to me,” she pleaded, as you tried to calm yourself enough to talk.
“Today has just been such a shitshow,” you cried out. You told her all about your day, but the topic soon enough changed to the real reason why you were crying – Sebastian.
“You know what’s the worst thing? I love him. So fucking much. And I know he doesn’t feel the same. He sees me as his little sister. SISTER. No way he would be attracted to someone he considers a sibling. Oh, and have I mentioned that now he’s suddenly had a change of heart and stopped sleeping with random women because he mEt SoMEoNe sPeCiaL?” you mocked him, “I just can’t. I know that I did this to myself and it’s not his fault, but fuck! I can’t even tell him how I feel, because there is only one scenario to this – him ending our friendship because of it. I don’t know if I’m ready to lose him completely.” You kept on rambling as your supportive friend listened, offering you her kind words here and there.
Soon after she apologized profusely, as she explained her break was over and she had to get back to work. You assured her it was okay and that you were thankful she found some time to listen to you pour you broken heart out through the phone. She ended the call by reminding you that she loved you and hung up.
You sighed and blew your nose again. You stood up from your bed, taking the used tissues with you.
“Fuck.” You stopped dead in your tracks, feeling like a deer in front of a headlights. There stood a very shocked Sebastian.
“How did you get here?”
“I came to pick you up, remember? Front door was unlocked, so I let myself in. You didn’t respond when I called your name. I looked for you and found you here, crying,” his voice cracked at his last words: “I have never seen you cry before.” He seemed truly sad, but you were too frightened to notice.
“How much of it did you hear?”
“Everything.” He exhaled and you struggled to meet his gaze. You huffed, storming out of your bedroom, leaving him behind. You just wanted to disappear right on the spot and avoid this confrontation.
You almost ran to the kitchen, throwing the tissues to the bin. You hoped this was all just a bad dream and that in fact Sebastian wasn’t here, but all that convincing was futile once you turned around and saw him sitting in your kitchen. There was a tense silence, as none of you knew what to say next. The air grew heavy, suffocating you.
“So,” Sebastian cleared his throat, “you like me?” To which you only nodded, as you leaned on the counter.
“Why?” he asked. You laughed at that, the sound so alien to you because of all the crying.
“You were nice to me from the first day. You gave me a chance to get to know you. Once we started hanging out I just, I don’t know. I like how you talked to me, like I wasn’t just the new kid. You actually listened to what I had to say. You made me feel special, Seb. Not to mention, you look like a fucking Greek god,” he chuckled at that.
“Weren’t you discouraged by my age? Or the fact that ‘I slept with random women’?” he asked, using your words against you.
“Well, I can’t blame you for that. And I can’t blame those women either. And your age never bothered me. In fact, it’s just another thing about you that turns me on.” You realized too late what you were about to say and just said it. Your eyes widened and your face heated up, as you tried to shrink your existence and hide from Sebastian’s piercing gaze.
“I turn you on?” Sebastian asked, amused by how embarrassed you were. He stood up and walked up to you. You shied away, but he trapped you in between his arms against the counter, so you wouldn’t run.
“I’d like your advice on something,” he started as he looked you straight in the eyes, “There’s this girl I’ve befriended. She’s really young and innocent, like an angel. I think I liked her right from the start, but I knew I wasn’t good for her. And yet, I can’t help but be attracted to her. I’ve tried to forget, but all those meaningless nights and faceless women couldn’t fill the void. Couldn’t erase the feelings she brought up in me every time I thought of her, saw her, touched her. I think about her almost every night. About how I’d hold her, kiss her, make her moan my name.” You squirmed under his gaze, but he paid no mind as he continued his monologue: “I fantasize about deflowering her, turning her into a mess, while I transform her into my greedy whore. The image makes me painfully hard. And now, I have a chance to make her mine. What do you say, doll? Should I go for it?” You gasped at his confession and only weakly nodded.
His lips met yours in a desperate kiss. It was all tongue and teeth. He wasn’t gentle with you by any means, not that you wanted him to be. His hands pulled you impossibly close, as they squeezed your ass, making you moan into the kiss. You both had to stop and take a breath, your foreheads connecting as you panted.
“I made her up, you know,” spoke Sebastian softly.
“What?”
“The woman. She doesn’t exist. It was you who I’ve been talking about, but then I chickened out.”
“Why?” you were curious and anxious at the same time to hear his answer.
“You called me an old man! I thought you would be creeped out!” he got defensive.
“That was a joke, Seb,” you laughed, “Why did you tell me that she accepted?”
He awkwardly scratched his neck, as he mumbled: “I didn’t want to disappoint you, that your advice hadn’t worked.” You just burst out laughing at that. Sebastian didn’t like that, as he faked getting offended and hurt, which only caused to make you cry-laugh. You finally calmed down, after a while, only now seeing how Sebastian was watching you the whole time. He gently wiped the tears away with the pad of his thumb, as he held your face.
“I love you, Seb,” it felt good to finally say it out loud. You were absolutely lovestruck and at this point you didn’t care.
“Took you long enough,” you rolled your eyes at him, as he smirked.
“I love you too, doll.”

hi! could i request a leo valdez x reader with prompt 22: “I see you still have my shirt!” thank you💕
Of course you can! Your my first request, and I think it’s very fitting for it to be for Leo. He was the first character I found out what x reader fan fiction was. Thanks for the request!
When The Tables Turn - Leo Valdez x Reader
Tumblr media
Notes: Sorry this is a little short, and a little like my first Leo x reader... uh, but I like this one better anyway, I hope you enjoy!
Summary: You wake up in a field one day, injured and with no memories. All you have is a white button up that seems oddly important. (This plot is as if the reader replaces Percy when his memories are taken in HOO)
Warnings: Swearing, Blood, Memory Loss, Slight Angst, Fluff, Unedited
You could feel your consciousness slowly coming back to you as the sun rose. Your body was numb. You couldn’t tell if it was from the cold or the injuries from last night. Last night? Wait, how long have I been passed out...
You force your eyes open, squinting at the bright sun, wanting nothing more than to retreat back into the open arms of your dreams. But that’s when your surroundings come into focus. You bolt up, wincing at the sudden pain that shoots through you. What had even happened?
Your eyes scanned the field you were in, wildflowers growing in colorful explosions all around you. You grab your bleeding side, coating your hand in blood. You look down, slow to process what you were seeing. Red stained the dirty white button up you were wearing. “This isn’t my shirt...” You whisper, voice coming out hoarse, making you think you haven't had anything to drink in the past few days.
You tried desperatley to think back to what had brought you into this situation, but you couldn’t. Everything was blurry. You had a vague memory of a monster attacking you last night... something snake like with three heads. But other than that all you knew was your name and age, that was about it. You look down at yourself, hoping that maybe your attire would jog your memories. Instead it confuses you even more. You were wearing an orange t-shirt that read “Camp Half-Blood.” and jean shorts. And that damn white button up that hung loosley around your shoulders. You knew it wasnt yours, but you could feel some connection with it. It almost felt safe. You didn’t understand. You were who knows where, with no memory, all you have is a probably deadly injury and a button up that felt important. In short, you were screwed.
 ***
It had been a few months since you had first woken up with no memories. You wish you could say that things were clearer now, but they were the opposite. You found out demigods existed, and apparently you were one. You met a bunch of other demigods. A bitchy son of Apollo, a sweet daughter of Pluto, and a nice son of Mars. You had just been on a quest with two of them, making things all the more complicated for you. No memories had come back to you in your time here, only feelings. Since you had awoken in that field a few months ago, you became more and more attached to that button up, refusing to take it off. It had some connection to your past, you knew it. And it was important.
You were currently in a conversation with another demigod, Reyna. The topic being your memories. “Are you sure you cannot remember a single thing?” She asks again, for what felt like the hundredth time.
“Yes, Reyna, I’m sure. I don’t know what else I can do, I already went on that crazy fucking quest!” You exclaim, growing desperate. You didn’t know how much more you could take.
As if the gods heard you, a giant shadow appears over you. You watch as Reyna’s eyes widen, looking up to the sky. You follow her gaze to see a giant greek warship flying above the city, coming to a stop close to where you were standing.
The whole city of New Rome falls silent as they watch a rope ladder be dropped off the side of the ship, a string of people starting to climb down it. A crowd begins to form as the outsiders reach the ground. One boy is looking around desperately, ignorning the threatening looks he was getting from the crowd. You watch as Octavian is about to speak up, but before he can the boy’s eyes land on you.
It’s as if time stops as you stare at him. There was something familiar about him. He was short and had curly brown hair that was falling into his eyes. Oh, and his eyes. A warm brown that felt as if they were staring into your soul. A huge smile grows on his face as he looks at you, shouting to you from across the crowd. “I see you still have my shirt!”
Your slow to process what he is saying. His shirt? Thats when the dam in your mind breaks, memories bursting out. You remembered everything. You remembered Leo.
You don’t hesitate as you begin to sprint through the crowd, knocking over people in your way. “Leo!” You shout as you break through the crowd, running into his open arms. He grabs your waist, spinning you around.
“Y/N!” He shouts happily, tears welling up in his eyes as he peppers your face with kisses. “You came back to me...” He whispers, pulling you in for a close hug. You melt into his arms, remembering how warm he is, remembering how clingy you always were, remembering everything youve ever loved about your soulmate.
“Leo...” Is the only thing you can manage to choke out before he pulls back slightly, staring at you with a dreamy expression on his face. “My Y/N...” He whispers before kissing you softly.
In that moment he is your only thought, your only concern, your only memory. You’ve found your happiness once again. And you would fight tooth and nail to keep that button up of his. You were right, it was connected to your past, and it was very important.
***
The next morning, Leo had his arms wrapped around your waist protectively and his face nuzzled into the crook of your neck. As soon as you two had been reunited he had been very clingy, and so had you. Hedge hadn’t been able to make you sleep in your own rooms last night, you both needed to hold eachother. You would have stayed up all night talking to him if you hadn’t been so exhausted. And he had been so warm and comfy you fell asleep almost immediatley. Now waking up, all you wanted was to go back to sleep in his arms. You almost did too, but then Leo spoke up.
“I’m sorry...” He mutters, nuzzling his face further into the crook of your neck. “I should never have let you be taken like that, Y/N... I’m so sorry...”
Your eyes widen at his words. You had been with Leo for years, you shouldve known he would blame himself, and yet you were very upset that he was apologizing for something he couldn’t control. “Oh darling, no... don’t apologize.”
“Y-You can keep that shirt, you look so cute anyway, and I’ll make you (your favorite food), and we can watch (your favorite movie), and I’ll take you on so many romantic dates, and never let you out of my arms again!” He exclaims, voice breaking.
You roll over in his arms, cupping his face in your hands while rubbing his cheek with your thumb. “Leo... it wasn’t your fault... everything is ok, I promise. I’m ok, I’m perfect now that we’re together.” You whisper before kissing him gently.
He takes a moment to admire you, wiping his forming tears away before they could fall. “Promise?”
“I promise.” You say softly. Leo only showed this sensitive side to you. You knew how to comfort him so he could genuinely smile again. And after a few hours of quality time, he did.

For the prompt thing, how about number 3 for Diluc x Reader? :3
Yeees, I think we all need some Diluc content!
Wool Coats And Weddings - Diluc x Reader
Tumblr media
Notes: Another short self indulgent fic, sigh, the ending was a little rushed, sorry! Hope you like it!
Summary: Your boyfriend was often busy with work, so you jumped at the chance to spend time with him. He told you he cleared his schedule for you one night and you rushed over, only to find a long awaited surprise waiting for you.
Warnings: Fluff, Fluff, and more Fluff
It had been a long day for you. You had volunteered to do a particularly hard commission at the adventurers guild. Your whole body was sore as you trudged to Dawn Winery, eager to meet your boyfriend, Diluc. He had mentioned that he set aside some time for you tonight. He was often very busy, so you were excited to spend time with him.
As you approach the winery a cold wind blows over you, nipping at your skin. You scrunch up your nose, feeling it start to numb. You pick up your pace despite your aching feet, desperate to retreat into Diluc’s warm arms.
As you reach the winery, you quickly nod and mutter a few quick hellos to the workers outside before hurrying into the mansion. Your eyes scan the expensively decorated foyer before your gaze meets another’s. Cold ruby eyes that only softened when they saw you. You smile brightly, standing still and admiring Diluc for a moment. A soft smile to match your own appears on his lips as you advance towards him, hugging him tightly.
“Oh, there you are, I’ve been waiting for you.” He says with a soft chuckle, ruffling your hair.
“Hmm, sorry I took so long.” You mutter, voice coming out muffled as you bury your face into his chest. “Ran into cryo slimes on my way home.”
“Oh? Is that why your so cold darling?” He asks softly before pulling you closer, rubbing your back gently as he kisses the top of your head.
You hum in response as he pulls back to look at you. “Why don’t we go on a walk?”
“That sounds lovely.” You whisper before kissing him, letting him rest his hand on the small of your back, leading you outside.
The stars outside seemed even more beautiful with Diluc by your side. The whole world did. He leads you further into the winery, far out into the rows of grape vines, lightning bugs flashing every now and then. You glance up to dragonspine, even that freezing landscape looked beautiful. Everything was perfect. You barely even noticed how you were shivering, the cold seeping into your bones.
Of course, what you failed to notice, Diluc did not. “Where’s your jacket?” He asks, concern lacing his words. “It’s cold out, come here, let me warm you up” He says before slipping off his own jacket, laying it across your shoulders.
You smile brightly, your love growing for Diluc even more after that romantic gesture. You often forget your jacket, so it wasn’t unordinary for Diluc to lend you his jacket. But every time he did, butterflies formed in your stomach. You were convinced you had found your soulmate.
“Thank you, love.” You say softly before slipping your hands into the wool lined pockets of the jacket. That’s when your fingers ghost over a small velvet box. Your heart stops as you rub the soft material, fingers gliding over the the curved edges. If you weren’t mistaken, it was a ring box. Your mind immediately jumped to conclusions. Was Diluc going to propose?
A moment passes before Diluc glances over at you, noticing your shocked expression. His face contorts with worry, stopping in his tracks as he speaks softly to you. “Darling? Is everything alright?”
Your too stunned to answer, or hear him for that matter. Your mind was going a mile a minute. Could he really be proposing? You had been dating for a few years now. You had even talked about marriage before. But you were still shocked. Then you reminded yourself that it may not be a ring box at all. And even if it was, it didn’t have to be an engagement ring. But… you secretly hoped it was.
“Darling?” Diluc repeats, snapping your attention to him. You watched as his expression slowly changed from concern to realization. “Oh…oh!” He exclaims before hanging his head, hiding his face from your view. “It was supposed to be a surprise.”
“Diluc…” You whisper, your hope growing more and more by the second. Before you can say anything else he takes your hand, leading you faster through the winery.
“I just wish you had brought your coat love, the surprise would have been more enchanting.” He says, although there is no anger in his voice. Your mind is slow to process his words. Could this really be happening?
Before you have a chance to ponder, you reach the tree line. There’s a soft glow coming from deeper in the forest. Diluc leads you onwards, leaving Dawn Winery behind. You watch as the light becomes brighter before the trees opens up to a small clearing. Lanterns were placed around in the branches of surrounding trees and there were even some nestled in the grass, giving the clearing a soft glow. In the middle of it all is a dinner table, wild flowers in a vase on top of it, along with a lavish meal.
“Wow…” is all you manage to choke out, staring in complete awe at the scene in front of you. Suddenly, you feel Diluc’s gloved hand slip into the pocket along with yours, grabbing the velvet box.
Your head snaps over to him as he smiles softly, getting down on one knee. “I was going to wait until after dinner, but seeing as you already know…” he trails off, opening the box, revealing what you had been expecting all along. A beautiful engagement ring. The band was gold with silver leaves decorating it. A diamond was nestled in the middle, shimmering in the glow of the lanterns. “Y/N… will you marry me?”
“Yes!” You shout, not hesitating as the fog of your mind clears. You had never been more sure about anything in your life.
He chuckles quietly, a bright smile adorning his lips. It was a smile he would only ever show to you. “Really?”
“Yes, of course! By the archons, I love you!” You exclaim before jumping into his arms, burying your face into the crook of his neck. You had been waiting your whole life for this moment, and now you knew, no matter what life would throw at you in the years to come, you would always have Diluc by your side.

Diluc Ragnvindr x Reader Headcanons
Tumblr media
Requests: None (but they are open!)
Notes: Bro so like, my last fanfic kinda blew up a bit so ummm omg thank you, I was kinda losing it, but I decided to post my Diluc headcanons for all my new followers since I don’t currently have anymore fic ideas, so please send in some requests!
Summary: My headcanons for my favorite fluffy haired king and what it’s like to be in a relationship with him <3
Warnings: Burns, Self Harm
Fluffy hair, fluffy fluffy fluffy hair
He acts annoyed when you play with it, but he secretly loves it, trust me
He just melts when you run your hands through his hair, despite the grumpy expression he has on his face
If you can’t see through his expression and stop playing with his hair he will grab your wrist and put your hand back where it was, not saying a word
He’s not as grumpy about it from now on, at least in private (in private he can and will fall asleep as you play with his hair, his favorite way to fall asleep)
Pssst- your the reason he started wearing his hair in a high ponytail, because while playing with it you often tie it up like that
Theres a reason he wears gloves, but he’s never told anyone why
You yourself found out by accident
He forgot to lock the bathroom door one day, and you walked in while he was washing his hands
There was burn marks all over his fingers and palms
When he saw you he panicked. This lead to a very long conversation between the two of you
When he first got his vision, he didn’t know how to use it. Accidents happened. But, apparently some of the burns were self inflicted. Sometimes his past became too much for him
He promised you that had been a long time ago, he was better now that he had you.
Even with his promises you got upset, and it lead to a long night of cuddles. You made him promise to talk to you if he ever felt even a little upset
He promised you, sealing it with a kiss
Nightly strolls!!!
No matter how busy Diluc is he will always to find time to take you on a walk around the winery when the stars are lighting up the sky
He wraps his coat around you on chilly nights, chuckling softly when you snuggle into it. He can’t help but admire you when your bundled up in his clothes
He is feircly protective of you, but he tries not to show it, But he is always sure to veer away from the cryo slimes on your walks, or he takes care of them beforehand, as you sometimes like to wander into Liyue a bit on some nights
Diluc actually gets insanly jealous
He sometimes doesn’t feel good enough for you, so when he see’s you hanging out with Kaeya, for example, he gets really insecure
He tries not to let you know. Poor boy is embarrassed, ok? He loves you so much, and of course he trusts you but seeing you with someone, especially Kaeya, makes him a little upset
He won’t say anything though, but he will get a little distant
It takes him a little while to open up, but when he does you’ll have to comfort him a bit
When his jealously passes and he calms down he apologizes profusely, he doesn’t want to be the “jealous boyfriend”

The Flowers Of Mondstadt - Diluc Ragnvindr x Reader (Soulmate AU)
Tumblr media
Requests: None
Notes: I’ve been obsessed with soulmate au’s and Diluc lately so here we are, also this is unedited, I’m tired, deal with it.
Summary: You’ve lived in Inazuma your whole life. While strict and conforming, it was beautiful. It was one of the only upsides to the city of eternity, in your opinion. So you took up sketching its beauties. Particularly, the flowers. You would sit for hours, using your arms as your own personal canvas in an attempt to make yourself as beautiful as your surroundings. And perhaps, to attract the attention of your soulmate. Whatever you drew on your body would appear on your soulmate's body as well. It was your only contact with the outside world, your only lifeline. And finally, the day came where you could compare Inazuma’s flowers to Mondstadt’s.
Warnings: Seperation, Crying, Fluff, Slight Angst
You were five when you learned about soulmate bonds. It was a concept a little complicated for your young mind to comprehend, but your mother had to offer an explanation when you came to her crying that someone invisible wrote something on your arm. She explained to you that everybody born in Teyvat had a soulmate, someone that perfectly complemented you and your personality. Someone made for you. You hadn’t really understood at the time, all you knew was you had a new friend to talk to. So after a moment of staring at the messy word, “Hello?”, written on your arm, you write back, “Hi!”
It was a minute before a new word appeared. “What’s your name?”
“Y/N.” You write, smiling brightly. “What's yours?”
“Diluc.”
***
It’s been years since a new word has appeared on your arm. When Diluc stopped responding you were worried that something had happened. A sick feeling had settled in your stomach for months. Diluc was your only connection to the outside world, he was your only lifeline. He gave you hope of one day escaping Inazuma, making your way to the city of freedom. But it’s been years now, and your hope has slowly faded. Life seemed a little duller after Diluc stopped responding. The only thing that made you feel emotion anymore was drawing the flowers around Inazuma. Despite Inazuma being a harsh and constricting nation, its flowers were beautiful. You had spent years perfecting your sketches of them, your arm was often covered with the drawings. Before Diluc had left, he told you of the flowers that are found in Mondstadt, he even drew a few of them for you. Your favorite had been the Cecelia’s. He promised to pick you a bouquet when you finally met.
Thinking back on the memory made your hands shake, turning the flower you were drawing on your arm to a messy ink stain.
“By the archons…” You mutter to yourself, closing your eyes for a moment. “Why… Why did you leave?” You whisper, voice breaking. A pit was settling in your stomach again. It’s been this way for too long, you were sick of this dismal existence. You didn’t even know if he was dead or alive. The question was plaguing your mind, you needed answers. You needed to be happy.
That was the moment you decided. You needed to escape Inazuma. Your mind started going a mile a minute, thinking of plans, and money, and things you would need. You didn’t stop to consider what it really meant to leave Inazuma. It was your home, and your family was here. And chances are, you would never be able to return. But at the moment, none of that mattered. You were desperate to be happy again.
You bolt up, setting off to find the one man who could help you. Your best friend, Thoma. You knew where he would be, he was supposed to be meeting someone at the docks in Ritou. Apparently, Aether you think his name was, came to Inazuma on a pirate ship. Maybe you could hitch a ride out of Inazuma.
***
By the time you got to the docks, you could see Thoma talking to three strangers. You run up behind him, shouting his name.
He turns, a confused look on his face. “Y/N, what are you doing here?”
You skid to a stop in front of him, breathing heavily, your lungs burning from the run. “I… I need to go find him.”
“Go find him? Wh-” He starts to say before stopping himself, eyes widening. “Him.”
“Yes! And I need help, Thoma please.” You beg, ignoring the looks you were getting from the three he had been having a conversation with. “I need him to be happy, Thoma… I need to meet him… I need to meet Diluc.”
Before he can say anything, one of the strangers speaks up. “Diluc? Do you mean… Master Diluc?!” She says in a high pitched voice.
You glance over to look at her, she is a small girl with white hair, and she's floating next to a man with blonde hair, a confused look on his face as well.
“D-Do you know him?!” You ask, the hope you had felt years ago slowly creeping back to your heart.
“Yes, we know him!” The girl says, smiling. “Master Diluc owns a bar and a winery in Mondstadt!”
“So he’s…. He’s alive!” You shout, smiling genuinely for the first time in years. “I need to get to him!”
“Well we came over here on Captain Beidous ship, The Crux! Maybe you can catch a ride too!”
Your gaze drifts over to the other stranger, who’s name is apparently Captain Beidou. She smiles at you, setting her hands on her hips. “It’d be my pleasure, he’s your soulmate I’m guessing? Yeah, you have that look in your eyes. I remember when I met mine, in Liyue Harbor. That’s where I’m heading now, I’d be happy to have you aboard.”
Before you can even process what she said, Thoma speaks up. “W-wow… your… actually leaving.”
You turn to look at him, smiling sadly as you hug him. Thoma was the only one who could even attempt to fill the void Diluc left. “Thoma, I’m not leaving you behind.” You say softly. “I’ll find a way to see you again, I promise.”

Jake Gyllenhaal Request
I read an interview where Jake gyllenhaal said “The act of making love to make a child…the real thing is life” and he’s constantly talking about how he wants children and idk I think that’s beautiful so in honor of that could u write something like y/n is pregnant and when the time to find out the gender of the baby comes he’s away for work and could only come back in like 2-3 weeks (or whatever time u see fit tbh hehe) and asked her to wait but y/n doesn’t think it’s fair and doesn’t want to and they have this fight about it but at the end it’s all fluff and teddy bears, thank you🤎✨
The day after you found out you were pregnant and told Jake, he was offered the starring role in a major movie. “This is great! A baby….a great movie….what else could happen?”
“Jake, are you sure about this? I know this role is great, but have they told you what the schedule is like?”
“I already checked with them, babe. I’ll leave in two and a half months, so I’ll be here to get through your first trimester with you. We can tell our families and friends together before I leave. And we are filming in Montreal, so I’m a quick flight away from you and can come back on weekends for your appointments.”
That’s what he had told you. And that’s what you were holding on to until you were a week away from your five month ultrasound. The ultrasound where you’d find out if you were having a boy or a girl. “Bad news, Y/N,” he said to you on facetime that night. “I found out we are flying to Scotland Friday to film some of the ending scenes. Apparently there’s a movie that will interfere with one of the other cast members' schedules, so we have to get those scenes out of the way now so she can be in it.”
“Jake, my appointment is Saturday morning.”
“I know. It looks like you are going to have to reschedule.”
“I can talk to them and see if they can push it back a week, but that’s kinda last minute.”
“I’m going to need more than a week.”
You picked up on his tone that there was more he wasn’t telling you. “How long, Jake?”
“Two months,” he admitted.
“Two months. You’re joking?” Your tone was laced with disappointment and you could feel your anger building.
“It’ll fly by before you know it.”
“I’m not waiting two months to find out what we are having, Jake.”
“What?”
“I’m going to the appointment Saturday morning, Jake. You can be there with me to find out, or you can be in Scotland and I can tell you that day when we talk. But either way, I will know Saturday.”
“That is not fair, Y/N.”
“Not fair?” You were fed up and the hormones were taking over. “You want to talk about what’s not fair. Jake, I have been going through this pregnancy by myself. All this morning sickness, the aches, the pains, the crazy cravings...they all started after you left. Which, if you forget, was two months ago. For two months I have been at this on my own because your weekend trips home,” you put in air quotes, “have happened maybe twice a month.” I wake up everyday puking and do that for two hours before I can eat anything. My feet and back hurt so bad that I only want to lay down when I’m at home; and I’ve still got 4 months to go. This whole time all that’s been getting me through has been that I would get to see you this weekend and that we would get to go find out what we are having. And then I can spend all my time alone actually having fun and shopping for our baby. And now you’re telling me you want me to wait until I’m 7 months along. Sorry, but I am not doing that.” You were not sorry. “If they can work around your co stars schedule for two months, they should be able to work around your schedule for one day.”
“Y/N-”
“You know what, Jake. I’m feeling really tired.” It wasn’t a lie, but you were mostly over dealing with this. “I think I’m going to go to bed. I’ll talk to you later. Love you, night,” you quickly hung up.
You were too upset by the conversation that you didn’t speak to him the next day, or the morning after that. And when you finally tried to call him that night, you received his voicemail. You seriously considered calling and cancelling your appointment for the next morning. But you wanted to show him that you meant what you said.
You woke up, got ready, and found yourself regretting your stubbornness from the day before. But, since the appointment was starting in half an hour, you got in the car and drove to the doctor’s office. You parked and walked to the door and found yourself very surprised when the front door opened and your husband walked out. “Jake?”
“Hey. You were right. Are right. I haven’t been there for you recently and I should have been, especially with this being our first kid. I talked it over with the director, and I’m flying over there Monday, which means you and I have today and tomorrow to go shopping for Little Man or Little Lady after this.”
“You did that for me?”
“Absolutely.” You grabbed his hand and walked into the office.
******
You woke up at 230 am, surprised that the sound of your baby hadn’t woken you up at 2, which was normally feeding time. Looking over in the bassinet, you found it empty. Jake’s side was empty too, so you took a wild guess to their location and walked down the hall.
Opening the door, you walked into the dimly lit pink room and saw Jake rocking your daughter and feeding her a bottle. “Hey, I didn’t know you were awake.”
“I just woke up. My body’s used to being up at 2, and I guess it woke me up to check things out. How’s she doing?”
“She’s great, just hungry. She’s almost done and is about to fall back asleep. She’s growing like a weed already.”
“I’m still hormonal, don’t make me cry this early.”

Chapter 7 Part 2
So lay down your weary heart, stay by my side, and I promise I’ll be here, till we run out of time
Tumblr media
"Hey, Pumpkin." Evan gave Stella a small smile as she answered the door and Stella found herself grimacing at the pet name.
"Hi." She gave him a little smile back as he leaned in to kiss her. Automatically, she turned her face to the side so he caught her cheek and not her lips. He frowned a little as she stepped back to let him in and glanced at her for a moment, his eyes sliding downwards for a split second and Stella saw something flash on his face, but she couldn't quite place his expression. Without a word, he stepped into the apartment, following her to the living area. When she reached the couch she took a deep breath and opened her mouth to say something but he jumped in.
"Listen Stella, I’m so sorry. I was an ass, I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did and left you to go to the wedding alone."
"So you weren’t working then?" She shook her head as Evan let out a sigh. "I didn’t think so
Evan licked his lips and dropped his head a little. "No, I wasn’t. Like I said, I reacted like an ass. I shouldn’t have lied to you, I'm sorry."
"But you did and," Stella shrugged, "it doesn’t matter anymore."
"What do you mean?"
"It’s over, Evan."
Evan blinked, and then frowned a little. "Is this because of what I said the other night?"
Stella sighed. "In a way, yes, it is." She looked at him for a second as the hurt spread across his face before she took a deep breath and glanced down at her hands. She felt awful. Guilt was flooding her system, not only at the hurt on his face but the fact she'd done what she had. But she knew she had to stand strong. It wasn't fair on him, and it wasn't fair on her. "It caught me unawares and I didn’t know how to react," she looked up as she tried to explain, "I panicked but the truth is I didn’t say it back because I couldn’t Ev. I still can’t."
"Stel, look," Evan swallowed and took a step towards her, "I get it. You’ve been hurt in the past and you’re worried about how fast it’s going and, maybe you can’t say it yet, but you know, that doesn’t mean you don’t or you won’t."
"I thought it could be that way but I can’t lie to myself. Not anymore." She shook her head. "I don’t love you Evan. And I’m not sure I ever will."
Evan blinked, and in an instant the hurt on his face slid into something more akin to anger as his jaw set. He gave a scoff, shaking his head and gestured towards her with his right hand.
"You know, you’re never gonna be able to love anyone else whilst you’re still letting Jensen into your head and your bed." The slap his arm made as it swung back to his side rang loudly across the silent apartment as Stella felt her eyes widen.
"What? That’s not," she desperately tried to protest, even thought it was a blatant lie, "I haven’t-"
"No?" Evan gave a scoff. "The mark on your neck tells me a different story."
Stella felt the heat in her neck, she'd been well and truly caught out, and she felt like shit. She took a deep breath, deciding to come clean, he deserved that at least. "I’m sorry. I was drunk and it was a huge mistake. I shouldn’t have done it but that’s nothing to do with why I’m ending this."
Evan shook his head. "I should have come with you. Fuck!" He seethed. "I shouldn’t have left you alone with him."
"But you didn’t come, and I cheated on you." Stella remained calm. "I'm not proud of it, I've never done this to anyone before and I feel awful, I really do." She swallowed and sighed. "You’re a great guy, Evan, and you have to believe me when I say, what happened this weekend has nothing to do with why I’m... "
"Why you’re breaking up with me? Really, Stel? You expect me to believe that?"
Stella licked her lips and blinked back her tears. "It’s the truth. I’m sorry."
"For what exactly, Stella? For leading me on? For making me fall in love with you when you’re still clearly hooked on your ex? For cheating on me? And with him nonetheless!" Evan's voice gathered volume as he ranted, all the time his eyes boring into hers, "fuck Stel! After everything I did for you!"
Stella looked down, unable to meet his eyes as a tear fell down her cheek. "I wasn’t leading you on. I really did, I mean do like you I just," she looked up, "I can’t lie to you or to myself anymore. This isn’t right. And I think deep down you know that it ain’t gonna work."
“Of course it ain’t gonna work. Because you’re not putting any effort into it!"
"It shouldn’t have to be an effort, Ev." Stella responded, wetting her lips a little with her tongue. There was a moment of silence, before Evan scoffed.
"Whatever. If you're happy to keep being a way for that asshole to simply get his dick wet then that’s up to you. But I tell you something, he’ll hurt you again. And don’t come crying to me when he does."
Stella took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check. "It’s not like that. At all. He’s not, I mean I’m not..." she trailed off and rubbed at her temple. "This has got nothing to do with him, Evan. I’m breaking it off because I don’t love you and I’m really sorry but I can’t lie to you."
"The only person you’re lying to is yourself, Stella." Evan shook his head. "I’ll see myself out."
He turned to leave, Stella remained rooted to the spot. She looked up at the ceiling, wiped her eyes and then turned to him as he opened the door.
"Evan, I really am sorry." She whispered and he stopped, taking a deep breath before he turned to look at her, his blue eyes wet with tears which made Stella feel about as low as she ever had.
"So am I."
With that the door slammed, leaving her stood alone in her apartment, deadly silence engulfing the room. Her legs gave way and she sank to the floor, her back pressed to the couch, tears pouring down her face.
“Fuck!” She yelled, throwing her head back against the couch. She felt like shit. She never wanted to hurt him, she really did like him and never set out for any of this to happen. She'd wanted to have a future, with someone else, but the sad thing was, Evan had hit the nail on the head. As long as Jake was in her life and her heart, she was never going to be able to be with anyone else.
Because, as much as she wished it wasn't true, she still loved him.
As she sat there, her head awash with a flood of feelings and doubts, her phone rang. Shifting a little, she pulled it from her pocket and saw her sister’s name flashing on the screen. Stella took a deep breath, contemplating simply letting it go to voicemail but she realised she really wanted to hear a friendly voice, and despite the fact they were very different people, she loved her sister and knew that Rey would always have her back. With a shaking hand she swiped to answer the call.
“Hey Stel, how was Mexico? I want all the goss about you and Evs first little break! Well, maybe not all the goss as that’s gross and TMI but-“
At that Stella let out the sob she had been trying to keep down and managed to stutter her sister’s name. Immediately, Rey’s tone flicked from its usual, bubbly nature to concerned.
“Woah, Stelly? What’s wrong? Has something happened?”
“Yeah. I just.... “ at that more tears came and her voice broke once more as she struggled to speak.
“You what, Stel? Are you ok?” Rey demanded. “Why are you crying Stel? Talk to me.”
Stella took a deep breath, fighting for control, eventually managing to find enough to stammer into the phone, “I broke up with Ev.”
“You did what?” Rey’s voice was nothing more than a hissed whisper, conveying her shock. “Why? Stel, are you out of your mind?”
At that Stella began crying even more. “I don’t know, maybe.” She wiped her face with the back of her sweater sleeve, giving a very undignified snort as she did so. “But I don’t love him Rey and...” She choked on her words, struggling for composure as her sister took a deep breath.
“You don’t love him? I don’t-“
“He told me he loved me and I couldn’t say it back. So I went to Mexico in my own and-“
Rey cut her off with a low groan. “Tell me you didn’t!” Stella’s loud sob was all the answer Rey needed. “Oh Stell!”
“I know, I know! But I was drunk and I felt lonely and mad at Ev and, it’s Jakey, Rey!”
“You still love him don’t you?” Rey’s voice was sympathetic, not a shred of frustration left. Stella swallowed, pressing the hell of her hand to her forehead in an attempt to relieve the pain that was starting to form from the force of her crying.
“I never stopped.” She stammered and Rey gave a heavy sigh.
“Shit, Stel.”
“Rey, I don’t know what to do.” Stella whispered, her voice trembling as she struggled for air, her throat felt tight and dry.
“Have you talked to him? To Jake I mean?”
“Sorta.” Stella gave another snort. “The morning after I mean, but I can’t face him. I can’t go there again Rey, I just-“
“And that’s fine, Stel, you don’t have to. Just avoid him until you clear your head. You can call me whenever you need to, I got you on this.” Her big sister placated, voice stern yet gentle. “And you got Clay there too. Talk to him if it’s too much, okay?”
Stella took a shaky breath. “Yeah. Yeah okay.” She wiped her eyes and her nose once more before she cleared her throat. “Listen, Rey, I’m gonna go get a bath. I’m exhausted.”
“Great idea, use some of that bath foam I made, it’s got lavender and rose hip in, perfect relaxation.”
Stella smiled. “Sounds like the perfect accompaniment to a large glass of red.”
Rey chuckled before she sighed. “Promise me you call me if you need me? No matter what time or when.”
“I will. Thanks Rey, oh, and don’t mention this to Mom. Not yet. I’ll tell her myself.”
“I won’t tell a soul.” Rey assured her.
“Thanks. I love you.”
“Love you too, sis.”
Stella cut the call, tossing the phone onto the coffee table before she hugged her knees to her chest, lending herself some comfort before he heaved herself off the floor and headed to the kitchen. She filled a wine glass full to the brim before she slurped a mouthful, wiping her tears once more before she made sure her door was locked, flicked off the lights and headed to the bathroom.
****
It was Thursday, four days after getting home, and Stella was sat outside on her small balcony, wrapped in a warm sweater in the April sun with a book and a coffee when there was a loud knock on her door. She hesitated for a moment, as it had to be someone who had access to the building and her mind immediately went to Jake, before she heard Clay's deep baritone.
"Stella, it's me. Open up."
It was a command, not a question, so she placed her book down on the table, picked up her mug and headed inside. She opened the door and turned away, leaving him to follow her, which he did, shutting the door behind him.
"You want at a coffee?" She asked, heading into the kitchen. "It's not long made."
"Sure." Clay nodded, and he stayed silent whilst Stella made herself a fresh cup, and one for Clay, knowing just how he took it, before she slid it over the counter and for the first time met his eyes.
"You look like shit. Guess this mystery illness really has wiped you out, huh?”
"Thanks, Franklin." She said sarcastically and Clay snorted. "I haven’t been sleeping well."
"Yeah, you definitely caught-" Clay raised his hands and bend his index and middle fingers on both, making quotation signs, "-the bug. It’s annoying, right?" Stella looked at him, blinking as he took a sip of his drink, knowing full well that he had well and truly sussed her out. "And impossible to cure from what I hear. Not even a slap gets rid of it."
Stella let out a soft groan. "Should have imagined you saw that."
"Stell, sweetheart, the entire party saw it." Clay eyed her. "Gotta say, your dad would be proud. It was one hell of a slap."
She scratched at her neck. "In my defense I was drunk and angry."
"Yeah, I know. I caught your apology to Pooch and Jolene the next day. Just before you rushed to the airport ignoring the rest of us."
"I needed to catch my flight." Stella's gaze dropped to the counter, both her hands cupping her mug.
"Before the bug caught you sneaking away from the resort, huh?"
"Something like that." She sighed and took a sip of her coffee.
"So what you gonna do?" Clay asked, placing his mug down. "About your condition, I mean."
Stella shrugged, bowing her head. "That’s the worst bit, Clay. I can’t do anything can I? I couldn’t even be happy with someone else."
"You speaking about Evan in the past tense now?" Clay cocked his head and Stella swallowed.
"I ended it on Sunday."
"Well, I'm not gonna lie and tell you I’m sorry, Stella." Clay shrugged a little and Stella's mouth curled up inot a sad little smile.
"I don’t expect you to."
"You know as well as I do there was something off about that guy." Clay continued and Stella gave a little groan.
"Can we not? There was, is, nothing wrong with Evan. This is down to me and my inability to get some dickhead who dumped me years ago outta my head."
"And out of your bed from what I’ve heard." Clay eyed her shrewdly and Stella stilled, looking at him for a moment before she licked her lips.
"How do you know about that?"
"Practically everyone knew by breakfast." Clay gave her a sympathetic smile. "Turns out one spiteful, red-headed bridesmaid was on your floor too and you weren’t exactly quiet when you were shouting down the hall."
Stella groaned.
"Hell hath no fury, Arty." Clay's eyes twinkled with humour and Stella rolled her eyes.
"It’s complicated, Clay and I can’t face Jake. Not yet. Not like this." She signalled to her congested face and red eyes and Clay took a deep breath, his face sympathetic.
"He’s been worried sick. Says you’re ignoring him."
"Huh, maybe he isn’t as stupid as he looks." Stella shrugged and Clay gave a snort.
"Despite what we all say, he isn’t an idiot. He knows he fucked up. Again."
"It wasn’t just him. We both... well, I wasn’t exactly unwilling." Stell licked her lips as she shrugged. "And as much as I want to say I hated it..." She trailed off, her finger gliding around the rim of her mug. "But it just made everything worse."
"Well, one thing I can tell you is that sitting in here, hiding away isn't going to help." Clay spoke gently, and as Stella opened her mouth to protest he cut her off, holding his hand up. "He's not here. He shipped out with Cougs to support a specialist recruitment exercise at Fort Sill this morning."
"How long is he gone?" Stell asked, her voice quiet.
"He’s back Friday." Clay smiled. "Look, why don’t you take a few days off and go home. You could use some family time right now."
"We just got back from a few days away."
"Yeah, and you've been here, hiding so what difference does it make if you hide in New Hampshire? Besides, you're no use to me like this." Stella took a deep breath as Clay continued. "How long since you saw your mom or Rey?"
"Bout six weeks."
"Then go." Clay persisted. "It's not like you have anything pressing here to do, if we need you then I’ll send for you."
"Thanks, Clay." Stella smiled. "
*****
“What do you mean she’s gone home?” Jensen frowned as Clay looked at him, having just finished explaining to the pair of them where Stella was.
“Well, you know her home in New Hampshire?”
“Yeah?”
“She’s gone there.”
Cougar snorted and Jensen let out a low groan of frustration. He was tired and had just gotten back from a long, hard slog away from home to be greeted by this and he wasn’t in the mood for Clay’s sarcasm.
“When is she coming back?” He demanded, staring at his boss who shrugged.
“I don’t know if she is, Jensen.”
At that Jensen blinked. Was Clay seriously suggesting Stel had quit for good? “What? I don’t-why?”
“Why do you think?” For the first time since Jensen had started speaking, Clay’s frustration was evident in his tone. “After your bunk up in Mexico she finished with Evan and she’s cut up, big time.”
Jensen took a deep breath, as the flood of relief he expected to hear once he’d got that news never came. Instead, he felt nothing but a deep sense of guilt at the fact Stella was upset. And he was part of the cause of that.
“She’s hurting Jake, and I think this time it’s just gotten too much.” Clay finished, his voice a little less spiked than it had been. Jensen ran his hand through his hair, before he shook his head.
“Fuck.”
“Jensen, why don’t you call her?” Cougar looked at him and Jake rolled his eyes.
“You know I tried that, several times. She won’t answer my calls or messages.”
“And you’re gonna let that stop you?” Clay folded his arms across his chest and raised his brow. “What happened to fighting for your girl, Jensen?”
Jensen blinked, his eyes not leaving Clay as his words sunk in. He was right, he had to try and fix this.
“I need to go.” He mumbled before he turned and bolted from the office, a loud apology hitting their ears along with a shout from someone else he had clearly run into in his haste to leave.
There was a pause as both men simply stared at the open door, before Cougar broke the silence. “She’s coming back, right?”
“She didn’t say she wasn’t.” Clay nodded.
“So why did you make out to Jensen like she was done?” Cougar looked at Clay who simply smirked as he turned his head towards him.
“Why do you think?”
****
Less than ten minutes after leaving the office, Jake was in his car speeding down the freeway. With one hand he juggled his phone, pressing the button to call the one person he knew would help him.
“I’m coming home.” He blurted into the handset as soon as his call was answered and Jane gave a little scoff.
“I thought you might be.” Her voice was flat. “Rey called me last night on her way to pick Stel up, told me all about your hook up in Mexico. What the hell were you playing at, Jake!”
“Yeah, I know, I fucked up and I need to make it right. I’m on my way to the airport, I’ll be on the next flight into Logan that I can get and I need you to pick me up.”
There was a pause and Jane sighed. “Leave it with me, I’ll get online and see if I can book one for you.”
“Thanks.” He mumbled before he tossed his phone onto the passenger seat and pushed his foot down on the gas, hanging the exit that would connect him onto the road for DC and the Airport.
Jane called back ten minutes later saying there was a flight an hour or so later which he was on. He arrived twenty or so minutes later and parked in the first space he could find on the long stay car park. As he climbed out, he grabbed his wallet, phone and jacket and debated taking his kit bag but, deciding it would slow him down waiting through security, he left it and set off at a sprint to the departure area.
Thankfully, Military ID gives you certain privileges if you can sweet talk, and Jensen could sweet talk with the best of them, so he managed to skip most of the queues and made it to the gate as the last few people were boarding.
Whilst the flight was only an hour and fifteen, it was an hour and fifteen too long and he was restless for all of it. His leg was continually twitching, his hand running repeatedly through his hair and scratching the short layer of stubble that covered his chin and cheeks. He was aware that he was annoying the elderly woman sitting next to him as he could feel her glaring at him and in an attempt to keep his annoying, nervous little ticks to himself, he tried to read the paper that was in the seat pocket in front of him. But it was pointless, he’d been on the same article for twenty minutes, repeatedly losing his place as his thoughts strayed to Stella, so with a huff he folded it back up and leaned back, closing his eyes.
Whilst sleeping on transport wasn’t normally a problem, being in the Army you learnt to sleep when you could, it totally evaded him and he felt like crying in relief when the pilot announced their descent into Logan. As soon as their wheels were down, he attracted the attention of one of the attendants and begged her to let him off the flight first, citing a military emergency, once more flashing his ID. Five minutes later she returned, smiling at him.
“Follow me, Captain Jensen.”
With a relieved sigh he stood up, grabbing his jacket from the overhead locker and followed her to the door which was just opening into the tunnel.
“Thanks,” he nodded at her as the door was latched into place, “by the way, I love your dress.”
He set off at a sprint through the airport. More abuse of his military privileges saw him clear security in record time and he hurried into the arrivals lounge where he saw Jane waiting for him.
“You have no bag?” She frowned as he gave her a quick hug.
“I didn’t have time.” He shrugged and Jane rolled her eyes.
“From what Rey told me, Stella is gonna be here till next week...”
“Yeah but you booked me a flight I had like an hour to catch...”
“Because you said there was a mad panic!”
“And there is.” Jensen shrugged as they began to walk towards the exit. “Like I said, I need to speak to her.”
“So, what is your plan today?” Rey smirked at him a little as they headed over to the car park.
Jake swallowed. He’d spent the last few hours trying to come up with a plan of sorts and had failed, miserable, so there was only one option. “I’m just gonna tell her I’m sorry and how I feel about her, honestly.” He shrugged as they strode through the rows of parked cars. “She might listen, she might not but I can’t leave it how it was. I gotta try, Jane.”
“Yeah I know Jake.” Jane stopped at her car. “But have you ever thought you can’t always have what you want when you want it and how you want it? It’s always been like that little bro and she’s not a skateboard or a football, she’s a person.”
“I know she’s a person, Jane! But I have to tell her, if she doesn’t wanna listen then-“ he shrugged as Jane unlocked her car, “-at least I’ll know.”
“Well, good luck, you’re gonna need because, according to Rey she is really bad.” Jane climbed into the driver’s seat and Jensen dropped heavily into the passenger one. “Oh, and you might wanna avoid Rey.”
Jake scoffed as Jane reversed the car out of the space. “Rey doesn’t scare me.”
“No?” Jane threw him a look as she drove towards the barrier.
“Nope.” He sniffed, pausing. “She terrifies me.”
Between not wanting to disturb his parents and also being unable to face the inevitable lecture about his behaviour from his dad, at least not until he’d spoken to Stella, Jane suggested he stayed with them. So, Forty-five minutes later, they arrived at Jane’s home, Gracie barrelling out of the house to greet her uncle. He swung her up, giving her a huge cuddle as she began to chat to him about her school and soccer. Jensen tried to listen and pay attention, but his mind was whirring about how he was going to get Stella to meet him. As he walked into the kitchen, Rob handed him a beer and clapped his shoulder as he sank into a chair round the table, letting out a sigh.
After he’d had something to eat and a shower, borrowing some of Robert’s clothes he tried again to reach Stel but to no avail, her phone remained switched off. And this was how it went for the next twenty four hours or so. He also tried the landline but it was always Jules who picked up and he couldn’t face speaking to her either so each time he simply hung up like some huge big cowardly chicken.
So, as a last resort, he begged Jane to help him, something Rob urged her to do too, although his reasons were slightly more selfish- he was simply annoyed that Jake was wearing his clothes and drinking his beer and being a general pain in the ass.
“Okay, okay, just,” Jane bit her lip, “let me talk to Rey, see if I can figure something out.”
She grabbed her phone and left the room, Jensen’s focus remained on the door as he could hear her softly speaking outside, but not enough to make out her words. When she came back a few minutes later she took a deep breath and looked at him.
“Rey’s taken Stella shopping to pick up Julie’s birthday gift. On the way back she’s gonna detour and head to the little cafe in their village, just off the main road through. You need to be there at five.”
Jensen gave a sigh of relief as he stood up and hugged his sister. “I owe you big time.”
“Yeah, well, just don’t be surprised if Rey punches you in the face.” Jane looked at him and Jensen took a deep breath, giving a little shrug as he walked towards the door.
“Be worth it if I can get Stella to listen to me.”
****
“Don’t fuck this up, it’s Stel ok?”
“I know. I know. Look, I’ll call you later, once…” he paused to take a deep breath, “well, once I’ve talked to her.”
Jane smiled at her brother sympathetically and reached over to kiss his cheek, giving him a hug. “Good luck, bro.”
“Thanks,” Jensen voice came out almost as a whisper, “I’m gonna need it, sis.” Taking another deep breath, he got out of the car, gathering what little courage still remained in some forsaken part of his nervous system. “Go Petunias!”
He instinctively pulled the collar of his waterproof North Face jacket round his neck against the rain and started walking with determination to the brightly lit coffee shop at the other side of the street. He jogged to avoid a passing car and soon he was crossing the threshold and being engulfed by the warm atmosphere of the place. He didn’t have to scan the room much before he spotted both Stevenson siblings sat at one of the far corner tables and he made a mental note to thank Rey for having made Stella sit with her back to the door.
Jensen breathed in and walked a couple of steps more into the shop to catch Rey’s attention and a wave of excitement washed his body when he saw her get up and say something to Stella before heading as if she was going to the counter but after turning to check her sister wasn’t looking at her she walked to him and grabbed his arm as she passed.
“You’re lucky I’m not shoving your head up your fucking ass.” Rey hissed only for him to hear.
“Nice to see you too Rey.” He smiled at the woman nervously.
“Fuck you, Jake.” Rey spoke again through gritted teeth.
“You flirting with me, Rey? ‘Coz-”
But Jensen didn’t finish whatever stupid quip his mind had come up with as Rey scoffed and left. He watched her go, and when he saw her picking her coat from the rack next to the main door he sighed.
Good start, Jensen.
In an attempt to placate his nerves, Jensen ran his hand through his damp hair and headed to Stella’s table, his nostrils registering the smell of freshly brewed coffee and sugary treats for the first time since he had stepped foot on the place.
Stella, who was checking the messages on her phone, looked up as she sensed the presence of what she thought was her sister but, much to her surprise, it was Jake Jensen she was looking straight at as he sat down on the chair in front of her.
“Hey Stel.”
“Jake.” She whispered, gasping a little with shock. “What are you doing here?”
“Clay told me you’d come home and I had to talk to you.”
Stella rolled her eyes and was about to protest when the waitress came over with the drinks Rey and her had ordered and, after placing the hot cocoa mug in front of Stella, she looked at Jake confused.
“Oh it’s okay that’s mine thanks.” Jensen said as he nodded. The waitress simply shrugged and placed the coffee mug down before leaving
“Don’t suppose there’s any point me asking how you knew I’d be here.” Stella asked, her arms crossed over her chest as she watched Jake spooning sugar into his drink. Jensen just shrugged as he kept on stirring his coffee, thinking it was a good thing she hadn’t run away the moment she had seen him. “Imma kill Rey.” She grumbled.
“You wouldn’t answer your phone.” Jensen offered, trying to keep it as simple and cool as possible.
“Maybe you should take a hint.” Stella sighed, knowing too well Jake Jensen had never been one for taking hints.
“Stel, why you being like this?” Jake frowned. “We didn’t leave it on a bad note after Mexico, I know you said it was a mistake but…”
Stella sighed again and looked down at her drink, not taking her eyes away from the random pattern of cinnamon sprinkles over the whipped cream. “I just need some headspace.” Her tone was a little softer than before, the surprise and anger at her sister setting her up slowly sweeping away. “That’s all, and you being here…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, instead she gripped her mug and took a drink and once she did she looked up to him for the very first time since she had started speaking only to realize Jensen was watching her, but his eyes weren’t looking straight at hers, they were fixed on something else.
“What?” She asked, varying between curious and concerned.
“Your ring.”
Well she hadn’t been expecting that. She cleared her throat and hesitated a little before asking. “What about it?”
“You had it in Mexico. Why are you suddenly wearing it again? You took it off months ago, when you started seeing Evan.” Jensen inquired, his eyes now effectively meeting Stella’s and he saw the surprise in her expression. “Yeah, I noticed Stel.”
“I actually stopped wearing it the day you dumped me for the second time.” She shot back and Jensen flinched at her tone. Her softness had disappeared and she was being snappy again. He only hoped she didn’t clam up before he could get his point made.
“I didn’t dump you, we were…” He sighed. That path wouldn’t lead him anywhere with Stel, so he decided to take a detour, see where it led. “You haven’t answered my question.”
Stella gave a little shake of her head. “Don’t read anything into it. I’m wearing it because I want to.”
“But, why?” He pressed again.
“I saw it in my jewellery box the day I was going to Mexico when I was looking for some earrings.” She shrugged as she explained herself. “It’s a nice ring.”
Jensen didn’t say anything. Satisfied as he was with Stella’s reasoning, he gave her a knowing smirk.
“Don’t smirk at me like that Jake.” She warned him as she narrowed her eyes.
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” Jensen placated her before taking another sip of his coffee. “Clay told me you had ended it with Evan.”
“Yeah I bet you’re loving it.” Stella scoffed.
Jake frowned at her accusation. “No.” He shook his head. “I could never be glad you’re hurting.”
“And whose fault is that?” She glared at him.
“Are you saying it’s mine?” Jake blurted out, leaning his forearms on the table. “Look, the morning after we... you know, you told me you were splitting up with Evan and it was nothing to do with us sleeping together.”
“You’re right, I was!” Stella raised her voice, attracting the attention of the two women at the table next to theirs. “But that wasn’t an excuse for me to go and simply jump back into bed with you!” She hissed. “God, I’m so weak. Why did I give in to you?”
“I didn’t force you into bed, Stella!” Jake protested, visibly hurt.
“I never said that.” She shook her head, but avoided his stare.
“Well it kinda sounded like that’s what you were saying.” Jensen shook his head and leaned back on his chair. “You know, you can deny it all you want but that night was good, and I know you felt it too otherwise you wouldn’t be here so upset and accusing me of being the reason you’re hurt.”
Stella stayed silent. The confidence in Jake’s voice left no room for her denying it, there was no point, so she just looked away.
“Why have you got such a problem admitting there’s still something there between us?” Jake broke her silence.
“I’m not admitting shit, Jake. You can go now, back the way you came.” She shrugged, hoping her voice sounded as confident as Jensen’s.
“I’m not going anywhere.” He shook his head before taking another sip from his drink.
“I think you should.”
“Okay,” Jake placed his coffee mug down again, “you look me in the eye and say you feel nothing for me at all and I’ll go.”
“Piss off, Jake!”
“Not until you tell me.” Jensen challenged her as he crossed his arms over his chest. Maybe he was pushing too much, but he had to try.
“Don’t tell me what to do Jacob. You don’t wanna go? Fine!”  Stella shrugged as she got up and grabbed her purse which was hanging from her chair headrest. When Jensen finally registered what was happening he called after her but Stella just ignored him and left the coffee shop after taking her coat from the rack. Sighing with exasperation, Jake stood up and tossed some money down on the table before jogging after her.
The drizzle that was falling when he had first arrived had now turning into a real downpour. The cold air and heavy rain hit Jensen’s face when he stepped out and he needed a few seconds to spot Stella who was walking up the street under the rain, her wool coat failing to stop her from getting increasingly soaked. Jensen started jogging towards her as the same time he cursed himself for not having an umbrella with him.
“Stel.” He panted as he grabbed her arm.
“Don’t touch me!” She snapped, freeing herself from Jake’s grip.
He sighed but looked at her with determination. “You just can’t say it, can you?” But Stella wasn’t giving in and kept silent, staring back at him and after a few too many seconds Jensen had no option but to give up so he looked down and then back up, tears already brimming in his eyes. “My mistake. I’ll, erm, I’ll leave you alone.”
Stella watched, as he turned to go, his shoulders slumping before something inside her cracked, driven completely by the fact he looked and sounded so damned broken.
“Wait!” Stella pleaded, and he stopped, turning to face her as she took a deep breath, looking upwards before she shook her head. “I…damned, fine, I love you, okay. Is that what you wanna hear?” She snigged and shook her head. “I love you Jake but that doesn’t mean shit. I’m tired of hurting.”
“Me too Stel!” Jensen blurted out, his voice cracking. “Jesus, I hurt every dammed day when I saw you with that prick, because I only had myself to blame. I’m a fucking idiot and I get now, my reasons, you know I thought I was doing the right thing, that it would save us both so much heartache but all it did was cause us so much more.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Stella frowned at his sudden ramble. “You were doing the right thing? What kind of shit excuse is that? The right thing for what?”
“For you! I saw it in your eyes, the day we found out our postings and we were gonna be split up because we weren’t married!” Jensen tried to explain himself as the tears began to fall from Stella’s eyes. “The hurt and fear in those beautiful eyes, Stel and all I could think about was how worse it would be if something happened and,” he sighed as his eyes silently pleaded with her to show some sign his words were getting to her and when he spoke again, his voice was softer than ever. “I thought by ending it, then it would mean we could both move on and if something happened then you wouldn’t have to go through the amount of pain your mom did when she lost your dad.”
“Don’t you think I had the right to make that decision myself?” Stella practically shrieked at him, her chest heaving. “God, you’re a fucking asshole Jacob Jensen.” She sniffed and made a pause to rub her nose and wipe the tears and raindrops that were falling down her cheeks. “What the fuck? I’ve spent the last fucking five years of my life wondering what the fuck happened, trying to find a reason why you suddenly didn’t love me!”
“Stel, I never stopped loving you!” Jensen yelled back, before he took a deep breath and shook his head. “How could I? I’ve been in love with you since we were eleven.” He moved closer to her, trying to hold her hands in his.
“You have a strange way of showing it!” She screamed back, moving her hands to dodge him.
“I know, I know. I don’t have anything else to say other than I’m so sorry. And I love you.” He choked out. “I always will.”
Stella sighed, tears still running down her face. She was exhausted and tired of listening to him apologize over and over again. “All right, you’re sorry. So what? Apology accepted. Feeling better? You can go back to Virginia now.”
“If that’s what you want.” Jake said so softly Stella almost missed it as he put his hands in his coat pockets.
“Why suddenly it is what I want that matters, Jake?” She railed at him once more. “It’s always been about you and your stupid ideas and your stupid needs!”
“What do you want me to say, Stel?” He pleaded, his voice was beginning to break again. And, as Stella looked at him, his face suddenly illuminated by the headlights of a passing car, she realised that she had never seen him so vulnerable before.
“I don’t want you to say anything, Jake.” She swallowed hard, shaking her head. “I just want you to make up your mind once and for all and stop fucking with my brain.”
“Make up my mind?” Jake scoffed. “Have you listened to a word I just said?” He stepped forward a little. “You know what I want.”
Stella shuddered under his stare at those last words before muttering. “No, I don’t.”
“You! I want you.” He blurted out, his eyes never leaving hers. “Give me another chance baby. I swear, I’ll make you happy, I’ll do anything.”
“Jake…” Stella’s voice was a strangled whisper as she shook her head and Jensen sighed.
“What is it that is making you hold back?” He pressed, rain dripping off his hair down his face.
At that, she swallowed. “I’m scared.”
“Scared of what? Talk to me, Stelly.”
“Of being broken again, Jake. Because I don’t think I can fix myself again.” Stella blinked as the raindrops gathered on her eyelashes.
“You won’t have to.” Jake was fast to assure her. “I promise you that much. Just let me show you I can be the man you need, the man you deserve.”
“You promised me before you’d always be there Jake.” Stella started sobbing again. “And you left me.”
“I know, I know baby and I blame myself every day for that I... I just need you to trust me. I love you, I love you so fucking much, Stelly I can’t even think of you not being around.” His voice cracked completely on the last word and he sniffed loudly, his shoulders shuddering as he took a deep breath.
And, suddenly Stella’s defences, those defences she had fought so much to keep up, were nothing more than paper, paper that was disintegrating after being soaked by the rapidly falling drops of both her tears and the rain. Before she could draw in the air her body needed, she fell forward into Jake’s arms, melting into his form as she sobbed, her face pressing into the cold, wet outer layers of his clothing.
Jensen’s hands folded around her back, drawing her in closer and she could feel her body shake. “Stelly, shh, don’t cry baby,” he managed a whispered choke as she clung to him for dear life, “everything is gonna be all right. You’ll see.”
And as she continued to cry, Jensen simply held her, rocking her gently from side to side as he pressed a kiss to her wet hair before he pulled back, his hands cupping her face as he swiped under her eyes with his thumbs, the tenderness of the action more than Stella’s heart could hold.
“Please Stelly. Just give me this, ‘coz I don’t know what I’m gonna do if you don’t.”
As a response to his plea, Stella leaned into his hand, kissing his palm. “I never wanted you to leave in the first place.” She whispered and turned her eyes to his, to see a soft smile spreading across his face.
Jake swallowed, trying to find his voice. He wanted to speak, he wanted to speak real bad, because, God, there were so many things he wanted to tell her, so many built up wants and needs from over the years they were apart. But he couldn’t form anything more than her name. “Stel,” and, before he could attempt anything else, she reached up and grabbed his face tenderly before kissing him, softly.
The rain ran down their faces to where their lips met, each of them tasting the cold drops, but instead of detracting from the intensity of the moment, it simply took them to new heights. As Stella pushed her lips in more firmly, the wave that ran through her was intoxicating, a connection that showed the strength of the feeling, the mutual need. She paid no attention to the water which was soaking them through to chill their skin, because the sheer burst of love they were sharing was more than enough to keep her warm.
Nature might have brought the rain but Jake’s inner sunshine always came through for her in the end.
As Jake kissed the droplets from her mouth, she felt his lips smile against hers, making her head swim as she pulled back to take in his beautiful face and he was beaming at her.
“This is it, Jake. You fuck this up and I’m out of your life for good. In every way.” She declared with a sniff, but the warning felt less of a warning to Jake as she was smiling at him as she clung to his neck.
“Not gonna happen.” He smiled back. “We’re gonna do great and we’re gonna get married and make gorgeous babies.”
“You’re a fucking moron.” She snorted.
“Yeah.” He shrugged casually before tightening his grip on her and leaning in for another kiss, but it was cut short this time by Jake’s stomach growling, making Stella pull back and arch her brow at him.
“I haven’t eaten all day.” He offered as explanation.
She chuckled and then gave him a big grin. “Wanna stop at the Schwarma stand on the corner of Ruby Ave?”
“Yes.” He groaned more than agreed. Stella smiled as Jake placed his arm round her, pulling her close to kiss her head as they set off. The gesture once so familiar to them that it filled them with the warmth that the merciless rain was denying them. “Hey, does this count as a date?” He quipped.
“Don’t push it, Jake.” Stella groaned as she jabbed at his ribs.

“What the hell have you two been up to?” Julie’s loud voice rang out and the pair of them stopped dead as they walked into the kitchen from the Mud Room, looking at her as she stood, her arms folded, leaning against the counter, wearing her best stern mom expression. “The pair of you are soaked!”
“Yeah, it’s raining.” Jensen nodded and Julie narrowed her eyes.
“Don’t get clever with me, Jacob. You’re not too big that I won’t give you a slap.”
He flashed her his best, cheeky smile and she rolled her eyes, her attention flicking to Stella before she frowned a little, her gaze then moving to their hands which were tangled together. She blinked, and then her face softened and she gave Stella a fond smile.
“You guys good?”
They looked at each other and Stella smiled, turning back to her mom. “Yeah. Yeah we are. But, erm, we should probably go get into some dry clothes.”
“There’s some sweats and a T-shirt in your room Stel, I think they’re Jake’s.” Julie smiled. “Drop your soaked things outside the bathroom and I’ll run them through the wash and drier.”
“Thanks, Mom.” Stella grinned as Jake let out a little noise of approval.
“Jules, you’re awesome.”
“Yeah, yeah.” She rolled her eyes but the smile never left her face. “Go on. I’ll fix you both some dinner.”
“It’s ok, we already ate so I think we’re just gonna...” She trailed off as Jake gently squeezed her hand and Julie nodded.
“Okay, well I guess I’ll see you in the morning?”
Stella dropped her head, shyly as Jake grinned. “Yeah, Jules. Have a good night.”
Thirty or so minutes later they were both warm, dry and settled in bed, Jake in the pair of grey sweatpants that had indeed belonged to him. As Stella snuggled up to him, he pressed a kiss to her head realising that it had been years since they’d done this, just been together, as a couple. He felt her shift a little next to him and he glanced down to see her blinking as she struggled to stay awake. Jake could tell she was exhausted and whilst he wanted nothing more than to get her on her back and love her the best way he could, he knew how tired she was, both physically and mentally. It had been an emotional day, hell, week even, and there was a lot to process. So instead he shifted a little so he was led on his side facing her, and drew her in for another soft, deep kiss, his thumb gently stroking her cheek bone as she sighed happily, his lips slowly and sensually caressing hers.
“Do you remember the first time we shared a bed, Stelly?” Jake grinned as he pulled away, tucking her hair behind her ear.
She snorted. “Summer camp when we were thirteen. I could feel a storm brewing, so I came to your tent.”
“And we got caught so your mom came to ours,” Jake grinned as she gave a chuckle, “sat with mine around the kitchen table, giving us both ‘the talk’. Good times.”
“I remember how it grossed the pair of us out.” Stella giggled. “You pointed out that Rey and Jane would share a bed when they stayed over with each other and your dad was protesting that it was different because they were just friends.”
“So were we at that point.” Jensen mused as Stella’s hand traced his bicep.
“Yeah that’s what you said. And then you pointed out that they might have been lesbians so his argument was invalid.”
Jensen snorted. “He was being platonaphobic, and of course when I told him so, he had no idea what it meant.”
“No one did because it was a word you just made up!” Stella laughed and Jake shrugged.
“It means you’re biased against platonic relationships.” He grinned before he took a deep breath. “Truth is, Stelly, there was nothing platonic on my side even then. I wanted you from the day I saw you.”
“You were eleven, Jake!” Stella shook her head.
“Just be glad it wasn’t until I was fourteen that I started getting boners over you.”
“You’re disgusting.” She rolled her eyes and Jensen pouted.
“Hey, don’t complain. You were in all my fantasies”
“That’s a back handed compliment.” She shook her head and Jensen flashed her a cheeky wink.
“It’s the palm of my hand that remembers.”
At that she slapped his arm and he laughed, pulling her closer to him as she nestled into his warmth, the top of her head tucked under his chin.
And that was exactly how she fell asleep a few minutes later. Jake felt her relax against him completely, and he pressed a kiss to the top of her head before he too drifted under, happy and satisfied that he was holding his girl in his arms, right where she belonged.

When I pushed on the door of the library, I felt lighter and I had a smile on my face. I was even starting to wonder if maybe I should give up on a love and sex life altogether. I knew it could bring joy and happiness, but at the exact moment, all it did was confuse me and make me nervous, and honestly, I didn't need that.
I smiled when I noticed Millie sitting behind the counter, her head leaned against her hand and looking down, probably deeply lost in a book. I stared at her a few seconds and saw her look up at someone who came to ask a question. She got up and they talked so I decided to walk the aisles to find something new to read. I ended up with a book full of random thoughts and sat at a table near the counter to make sure she'd see me. It took my friend only a few seconds to notice me and her lips curled as she raised her eyebrows. I waved slightly at her and checked my watch. I still had about ten minutes to wait and I just opened the book to start reading. It's only when I felt someone sit next to me that I got out of my thoughts a bit but I still had to blink a few times to get back completely to reality, turning around and smiling to Millie who leaned her elbow on the table and placed her chin on her palm, staring at me.
"I'm glad you came." she whispered, making me raise my eyebrows.
"I said I would, did you doubt it?"
She shrugged a shoulder and looked away. "When Louis said he'd come, it was a 50/50 bet to take."
"Perfect. That's the first thing you'll write down on your list."
She raised her eyebrows a bit surprised and I just got up and walked back to the desk where one of her co-workers was now sitting. I sent the girl a big smile and bent down slightly, asking her for paper and pen. She smiled back and started playing with a lock of her hair before nodding and giving me a few sheets and two pen. I walked back to Millie with a winner smile and she rolled her eyes, chuckling as I sat back down.
"T'was easy."
"With those eyes and that smile you can clearly get anything you want." she pointed out, rolling her eyes again.
"You almost sound jealous."
I gave her a sheet and a pen as she sighed, taking the pen in her hand and scribbling at the top to make sure the pen was working.
"I am." she confessed in a whisper. "It must be amazing to be you."
"Can I remind you that the girl I thought I'd spent my life with has broken my heart?"
"And then came back. I don't think you realize how lucky you are. Not about Grace coming back, but about everyone falling in love with you super easily." she explained, staring down at her sheet.
I looked at what she was writing and smiled sadly. 'All The Things I Hate About Lou'.
"How many times did you have your heart broken, Niall?" she continued, drawing hearts next to Louis' name.
"What do you mean?"
"How many girls did you fall for that didn't love you back? How many girls did you date and loved actually left you? How many of them made you cry?" she elaborated, making me frown slightly. "And I'm not even asking about the girls you just wanted to shag. I'm pretty sure not many refused."
"I've been through unrequited love, too, you know." I shook my head. "I know how it feels."
"You probably broke more hearts than the number of times yours has been broken." she added slowly with an other shrug and a sigh. "I'm not saying you didn't hurt or that your pain is not real or important I just mean..." she paused and shook her head, her eyes finally meeting mine. "I just mean that it must amazing to be you."
"Maybe it's time you see that it's also amazing to be you, Mill." I pointed out. "And the fact that Louis broke your heart doesn't mean you're not incredible, okay?"
I grabbed my pen and started writing X's on all the hearts she had drawn and finally added the number '1'.
"Okay..."
"Now write down how unreliable he is."
Millie looked up at me and her lips curled a bit before she chuckled. I waited until she was done and grabbed my sheet too, making a long vertical line in the middle before writing 'Grace' on the left and 'Summer' on the right. I separated both their cases in two too, writing 'pros' on both sides and then 'cons'.
I stared at the sheet for a minute or two and finally sighed. I had no idea what to write. Not because they didn't have qualities and flaws, but because I knew it would bring me closer to a decision I was clearly not ready to make.
"You don't have to write anything right now." I heard, feeling Millie's hand on my shoulder.
I kept my eyes on the sheets and licked my lips, nodding slowly and finally, I folded the sheet and put it in my back pocket. Millie got up and I did the same, forcing myself to put a smile back on my face and I walked past her. She followed me outside and when we were out, I stopped and turned to her, raising my eyebrows. I decided to put anything that had to do with love away for now, burring it deep in my brain for a while, focusing only on doing fun things.
"Okay, so what's your routine after work?"
She looked a bit surprised but finally turned around, pointing at a small restaurant not too far. "I go there first."
"Alright, let's go there, then."
I followed her inside and she ordered three pieces of pizza and three water bottles. The person behind the counter smiled and prepared the food, putting every slices of pizza in a different box. I watched Millie pay and grab the bag the guy was handing her before sending him a smile.
"Thanks Jon, I'll see you tomorrow."
We walked out and I raised my eyebrows, looking at her with an amused smile. "You literally know his name?"
"We all work around each other so we sort of see each other often. Not just with Jon but with other people too." she clarified, handing me a box. I grabbed it and she looked again in the bag for a water bottle, giving it to me too.
"Please, tell me the other pizza is not for Louis."
She looked up in my eyes and her lips curled. "No!" she chuckled as she started walking quicker. I followed her in an alley but frowned as I pushed my hands in my pockets. I was not sure why we were there but I didn't even have time to ask. I saw my friend bend down near a man who was sleeping and whisper something to him. He jumped slightly and she laughed, handing him a box and a water bottle. He sat up and grabbed both a small smile on his lips.
"What is it today, Millie?"
"Pizza." she pointed out. "How are you today, Ernie?"
I watched her interact with a homeless man just standing there and wondering who the hell was this girl I thought I knew, and why didn't I try to find out more about her before,
"Is your friend mute or just dumb?" the man asked, making my friend laugh.
"I'd have to pick the latter."
I frowned at her and took a step closer. "Hey! That's rude!"
"Ernie, this is my friend Niall. Niall, this is my friend Ernie."
I sent him a small smile and a head nod before Millie sighed and got back up, telling him she was leaving but that she'd be back the next day. She walked past me and I was about to follow her but finally took the few steps separating me from Ernie and handed him my box.
"Thanks, kid."
I nodded again and turned on my heels, jogging slightly to reach Millie who just looked at me with her lips curled on the left. I raised my eyebrows and shrugged, pushing my hands back in my pockets. "What?"
"Nothing."
I could hear in her voice that she was thinking about something but I couldn't decipher the way she was looking at me. I smiled back at her and finally cleared my throat. "Okay, what's next?"
She took her slice of pizza out of the box and took a bite before handing it to me. "Once a week, I go to the movies and the other days, I just go in the old dvd and vhs shop where they sell old movies for a buck or two."
"And what's today?" I replied, my mouth full of pizza. "The shop. Cinema is on thursday because it's pay day."
"Makes sense."
We walked inside a small shop and the bell placed on top of the door rang gently. She waved at the employee and he waved back before she chose an aisle and tilted her head on the side to read the titles. It took her about five minutes before her lips curled and she grabbed one. It was a tape and I started wondering if she even had a VCR to watch it.
"This. Did you ever see it?"
She handed me a box and I raised my nose up when I noticed Leonardo Dicaprio on the cover. I turned the tape around and noticed the incredible landscapes pictured. The images would probably look even better on DVD or in 4K but I didn't mention it and just nodded. It was her routine, not mine, and I was extremely curious to find out more about her.
"Nop, never."
"It's a good movie, with a few French actors."
I followed her to pay and the guy behind the counter smiled and nodded. "Ah, nice one."
"I know right? I think I'm gonna keep this one."
"A movie where Leonardo Dicaprio goes nuts? Good idea to keep it." he added, making her chuckle.
"And the girl is nice to look at, too." Millie added, making the guy nod frenetically.
I looked around the place, quite surprised at how many choices they had. How many nice places like this was I missing on? And why didn't I ever hear about them?
"What did you mean when you said you'd keep this one?" I asked when we walked out.
"Oh, when I bring back three movies, I can trade it for one. I do that sometimes."
I turned to look at her and she did the same just to send me a smile before turning her head back in front of her. We kept walking but I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I thought I knew Millie but I had just realized that there were so many things about her that she didn't share and that I didn't take the time to ask, I knew that even if our friendship was not recent, our bond and how close we were was pretty new but at the same time, I felt like there were things I should know about her.
I should have checked where I was going because once again, I ended up running into a trash can on the sidewalk. Millie started laughing and I groaned, taking my hands out of my pockets before getting around it and walking quickly to her.
"Shut up." I mumbled, making her laugh even more.
"You don't seem like the clumsy kind of guy, I'm just surprised every time you run into something, and it seems to happen a lot!"
"Yea yea, how about you stop laughing and we just go back home to watch that movie?"
We had to watch the movie in her room for the simple reason that the videotape recorder was there and it seemed like way too much trouble to plug it in the living room. I made popcorn but Millie opened a few drawers and placed candies on her bed and it made me smile.
"Why don't you buy 6 or 7 movies at the same time? That way you don't have to go back there every day." I proposed, throwing some popcorn in my mouth and leaning against the wall with her.
"I can't know which mood i'll be in. It's a spur of the moment thing." she explained as the movie started. "Plus, I love going there."
"And what do we do after watching the movie?"
"It's dinner. Then shower, a few episodes of a netflix show, and bed time."
We watched the movie for a while and I had to admit the plotline was good, even if a bit fucked up. Millie was also right about the girl : she was very nice to look at and somehow, it made me glance at her.
"That girl is hot as fuck." I admitted, making Millie burst into laughter as she pushed an other candy in her mouth.
"I know right! And she's your type, too! I knew you'd like her!"
I blinked a few times and once again turned to my friend, leaning my head on the wall. I hated when she said that. I knew she didn't mean anything by it but I didn't want to admit that I would use some sort of base or mold to pick a girl. I hated thinking that I was shallow to the point where other girls who were not 'my type' wouldn't catch my eyes or stand a chance with me. And most of all, I hated that Millie saw me like that. I was about to start a discussion about it when Millie talked again, her eyes still glued on the tv.
"What about you?" she glanced at me. "What's your routine?"
I crossed my arms on my chest and shrugged a shoulder as my nose raised up in a grimace. "I don't have a routine anymore. My routine used to be with Grace and when she left, it became netflix from when the sun rises until it would set."
The fact that it was just being clear to me made something twist in my stomach. Who the fuck was I? Could I remember who I was before Grace? And now, with Summer, was I really myself?
I took the sheet out of my back pocket and unfolded it just as Millie handed me a pen and a book to write on. I looked up at her and sent her a small smile before writing under the cons in Grace's column. 'She decides everything'
"You know, I think that's part of why you annoyed me so much." Millie admitted. I looked up from the sheet and sent her a frown. Her traits softened and she sent me a sorry smile. "She would just tell you what she wanted and what to do and you'd never argue. She was bossy and controlling."
I couldn't pretend she was not right and I nodded with a sigh. "You know the worst? Summer is exactly the opposite. She's super compliant and it can get quite annoying."
Millie raised her eyebrows at me. "Well I guess you found something to write in the cons for Summer."
I sighed again but louder this time before looking down at my sheet again. I wrote down what I had just said and shook my head a bit. It was pathetic that the first things I thought about writing were flaws and I closed my eyes, letting my head fall against the wall in a loud noise after closing my eyes. "This is ridiculous, I can't choose."
"Hey, relax, it's just day one."
I felt my friend move on the bed and forced myself to open my eyes, noticing Millie was now facing me with a small smile. "We have 6 more days to fill that sheet." she slapped gently my thigh with the back of her hand and licked her lips as they curled more. "Trust me."

Tell Me A Lie- Frederik Andersen
Tumblr media
@natbarzal @anastasiyaigorevnadobrodevskaya @jonnytoews19
This hurt me to write, but here we go! Blurb number 7 of the Up All Night series with one of my favourites! Warning this is straight angst, a super toxic and unhealthy relationship, and it does have some strong language at times! Anyway I hope you enjoy! ❤️
Can't ever get it right, no matter how hard I try, and I've tried
Fred tries. You know he does. However, it always ends up here. The two of you once again fighting over seemingly nothing. This time, it was his shoes that started the fight. Stupid? Absolutely, but this is how the two of you function. One of you does something that irritates the other, and your tiny argument blows up into something much larger.
Today when you get home with an armful of groceries, you trip over Freddie’s shoes. You aren’t hurt, and the groceries are fine, but that’s not the point. “Can you not for once put your shoes in the damn closet?” You yell out in frustration.
“Jesus Y/n, it’s not a big deal!” Fred rolls his eyes as he stumbles into the kitchen, where you are now angrily putting away the groceries.
“Right,” you roll your eyes, slamming a cupboard door shut and turning to him. “I nearly dropped all the groceries and broke my neck, but tell me again how it’s not a big deal.”
“Well it’s not like I put them there to hurt you!” He huffs back, grabbing a beer from the fridge. The sound of the can opening sends a new wave irritation through you.
“That’s why you put them in the closet! What about that is so hard to comprehend?” You scoff out loud as he settles himself against the counter, taking a long sip of his beer. “Oh don’t worry about me, I will put away all your groceries. Enjoy your beer love, don’t let me get in your way.” Your words are dripping in sarcasm, and you hear Freddie groan.
“Are we seriously doing this again?” He asks incredulously.
“Doing what exactly? Because if you mean you being lazy well I tend to your every need once again, then no. I’m not doing it. Put away the fucking groceries yourself.” You make sure to drop the lettuce you had been holding to the counter, for dramatic effect. Then quickly you shuffle to your shared room, slamming the door behind you. Sure you are being dramatic, you know it better than most.
Well, I put up a good fight, but your words cut like knives, and I'm tired
Fred curses under his breath, as he runs a hand through his hair. After giving you a few minutes to calm down, he places his beer on the counter and turns to walk to the bedroom. As he lifts his arm to knock on the door, it flings open. The anger, hurt, and sadness flash across your eyes in waves. Fred doesn’t know what to say, and when you realize he isn’t going to speak, you throw the bag you packed over your shoulder and push past him.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Freddie’s voice calls out for you, angrier and louder than you had expected. You jump slightly at the sound, but quickly compose yourself. Wrapping your fingers around the doorknob, you glance back at your boyfriend.
“I don’t know. Away from you.” The venom in your voice makes you yourself shiver. Before Fred can even think about responding, you’re slamming the door behind you.
Freddie wasn’t expecting those words from you. They felt like a knife to his chest, and it hurt. Like really hurt. Sure, you two fight all the time. You scream, curse, and call each other names, but you never run from him. Normally you’d end up in his arms while the two of you cry over the hurtful things you’d said, but not tonight. Tonight you just left him.
The scariest part for Freddie, was the fact he didn’t go after you. The both of you now too exhausted for the fight. The pair of you like a pot of water continuously boiling over on the stove. Except now, the water is all gone. Both of you on empty, no more fight and it absolutely terrifies him.
As you break my heart again this time tell me I'm a screwed up mess. That I never listen, listen. Tell me you don't want my kiss. That you need your distance, distance.
“She’s not with me Fred.” Your best friend, Maddison, assures him for probably the fifth time since she had answered the phone. Freddie was sure you would have gone to Maddison’s, she was your closest friend. Panic starts to set into his bones when he realizes it’s been 24 hours, he hasn’t heard from you, and he has no idea where you are. He doesn’t know if you’re safe, if you’ve eaten, if you’re coming back. Maddison soon squashes his fear though, by speaking up again. “She’s at her co-worker Brady’s house, she’s okay. I was just talking to her.”
The wave of relief that floods his chest is soon suffocated by a cloud of jealousy. Who was Brady? You had never mentioned him, and now Freddie’s brain was going into overdrive. “I’ve got to go get her Mads. Where is she?” Maddison can hear the desperation in his voice, so she caves. She texts him the address, and wishes him luck before hanging up. She knows he will need it.
———
“Fred? What are you doing here?” You ask, confused as to how he even knew where to find you.
“I’m here to take you home Y/n, we need to talk about this.” Freddie says calmly, reaching out for your hands. As he goes to take them in his, you immediately pull away. A frown settles onto Freddie’s features, as he pleads to you with his eyes. “Please baby? Come home. You can yell at me, tell me to put my shoes away, tell me I’m a mess, because I am. Scream about how I never listen, and then when I try to kiss you to apologize you can be stubborn and hold out as long as you want. Hell if you want some space baby, I’ll sleep on the couch, but you need to come home. Please.”
Tears burn your eyes, but you take a deep breath to steady yourself. You’ve spent the last 24 hours preparing yourself for this conversation. How could you tell your boyfriend you were done? You thought you were ready, but him showing up with no warning proved you weren’t.
“Who is it Y/n/n?” Brady asks as he walks up behind you, placing a hand protectively on your back.
Tell me anything but don't you say he's what you're missing, baby. If he's the reason that you're leaving me tonight, spare me what you think, and tell me a lie
“I’m her boyfriend-“ Fred starts, but you quickly butt in, “ex-boyfriend!”
Both men stare at you in disbelief, as you avoid eye contact with both of them. “Y/n come on, we can’t even talk about this?” The hurt is evident in his voice, tears threatening to spill down his pale cheeks.
“I think it’s best you leave man.” Brady speaks, standing up a little straighter. Likely, because he was expecting Freddie to fight him on it.
“It’s him isn’t it?” Fred starts, chuckling in astonishment, “I guess I should have seen it coming, huh?” He watches your face closely, hoping to see some emotion. Preferably a protest. Nothing comes.
“On second thought.” He pauses a moment taking a deep breath, “Don’t tell me. Don’t tell me he’s the reason you’re leaving me. Just lie okay?” His eyes are watery when they meet yours. He can’t handle the truth, he knows it, and you know it.
So instead of being honest, you choose to lie. “I love you Fred, I’m sorry.”

jwy. kilig [f]
(n.) the rush or inexplicable joy one feels after seeing or experiencing something romantic
inspired by the song Never Knew I Needed by Ne-Yo ; Princess and the Frog soundtrack ftw
ORDER FOR TABLE NUMBER 8
this was the third overtime shift you’ve picked up within 4 days. the diner was packed for the friday night dinner rush. babies crying, high schoolers yelling, couples on dates - there wasn’t one age group that wasn’t in the building. you needed the money to stay afloat between school loans, rent, and public transportation. your parents did send you some money once in a while, but you used that mostly towards groceries and daily necessities. everything else came purely from your own blood, sweat, and tears.
you rushed back and forth between taking orders, serving, and wiping down tables for the next group to be seated. you turned to look at the giant clock on the wall. 5 more minutes till my dinner break. i can do this. though you were only a waitress, your manager and all the chefs did what they could to relieve your stresses - cooking meals for you and giving you an extra break in your shifts. you never had time outside of work and school to do much else. relationships were foreign to you. your friendship circle was really limited to your co-workers and maybe a handful of classmates. and him.
jung wooyoung. the raven haired dancer who always sat at the counter at 7 pm every day after dance practice and ordered a cookies and cream milkshake with some fried food, but always made sure to leave enough for you to eat with him during your break.
today was no different. you heard his voice before you saw him.
IT’S BREAK TIME FOR A SPECIAL SOMEONE
i love you, but please don’t yell while i’m serving soup to a grandma
okay okay i’m sorry, but it is your break and today i’m feeling ... fries
one fries and a cookies and cream milkshake coming right up
you yelled the order through the kitchen window to the chefs as you took off your apron to avoid stares as to why you weren’t waitressing. you sat next to him at the counter head buried in your hands. stressed was an understatement. your body was severely overworked, but it wasn’t like you could take a day off. you felt a poke in your side and groaned in response.
you look like you’re about to die. talk to me please
you turned your head to the side allowing one eye to peak out from your elbow as you spoke.
i’m exhausted. but i need to work. honestly, i feel like i’m going to collapse
i tell you all the time to take care of yourself, but you just don’t like listening to me. i’ll tell you something someone once told me when i was tired of dancing and i wanted to give up. it’s okay if you need to slow your run to a walk or even a crawl, but don’t stop. one inch forward is still progress. so even if you need to take a few days off to set your mind straight, do that. besides, you know that your manager is okay with giving you some days off if you need it
dang i wonder who told you that
you did. the first time wooyoung stepped into the diner and ordered a cookies and cream milkshake with onion rings he looked like he was ready to pass out. on your dinner break you took of your apron and sat next to him. he told you that he was losing passion for his love. he was tired of hitting a wall when he felt that he wasn’t growing as a dancer. he compared himself constantly and thought that to be an amazing dancer he had to be extremely versatile and he had to be able to branch out into other styles. and that’s when you told him to never give up. funny how that played out.
someone i care about told me. their words helped me realize i needed to take care of myself sometimes more than try to improve myself.
you lift your head up from the counter and settle it on his shoulder not noticing the way his breath hitched.
thank you. if you hadn’t come into the diner 5 months ago, i never would’ve had such an amazing therapist like you
the both of you laughed as his order is placed in front of you both. wooyoung takes a fry, dips it in the milkshake, and holds it in front of your face.
what’re you doing?
feeding you
why?
cause i can hear your stomach begging for food. eat it
you lean forward to catch the fry in your mouth.
thank you
with your head still on his shoulder you turn to look at him. has he always been this handsome? a sharp jawline, soft hair, eyes that sparkled like the sun, the mole under his eye he demanded to call his ‘dot’, and lips...the bottom one plumper than the top. you only caught yourself staring when you look at wooyoung’s eyes and saw him staring at you back.
were you staring at me?
...no
eyy, yes you were don’t lie. why were you staring? do you think i’m handsome? ooh~ you wanna kiss me so bad
and what if i do?
what?
ballsy you were. you leaned in and rested your lips on his pillowy soft ones and kissed him. you pulled away looking down.
i probably shouldn’t have done that. i’m sorry.
you started to rise from your chair as you grabbed your apron off the counter until you felt a hand grab your wrist and pull you back. you were met with the same pillowy soft lips one again as wooyoung cupped your face.
it’s okay. i liked it. a lot. i’ve kinda been wanting to do that for a while.
that was so cheesy
you laughed as you brushed his hair out of his eyes.
i like you woo. i do, but relationships are scary and new for me and i’m so busy that i don’t even know if i have the time to maintain one.
and that’s okay. i like you too, but i’m not going to make you sacrifice everything for me. i’ll wait until you’re ready, but until then, i am going to sit at this counter everyday and order my usual and stare at you while you work and be your daily dose of serotonin. if that’s okay with you of course
at this point your heartbeat was ringing in your ears. he was so great. your mind had so many things it wanted to tell him about how caring he was and how you would do your best to take care of yourself so that you could love him better once you were ready for a relationship, but all you could muster to say was
it’s okay. but if i catch you staring at my butt i’m kicking you out

Operation: Cheer Up Buddy || Jian & Minjoon
When: May 7, 2021
Where: Jian’s apartment, Santa Monica, California
Featuring: Minjoon Song (dialogue provided by Katie @minjoonie-song)
Triggers: Drunkenness
Joonie dropped his phone on the couch where he’d been laying around after Jian’s last text, making a checklist of things as he dove head first into Operation: Cheer Up Jian. Hm. Scratch that. Operation: Cheer Up Buddy. Code name: CUB. During his internal rambling, that admittedly did make him smile, Joonie grabbed one of his favourite blankets and threw it into the dryer to make sure it was warm when he took it over. After steps two, three and four of his amazing plan; put on pants, gather food and get the blanket out, Joonie was using his foot to knock on Jian’s door, hugging the blanket to keep it as toasty as possible.
Jian was laying on the floor of his living room, three drinks in. Who would’ve thought Mike’s Hard Lemonade would actually taste good? Not Jian. His co-worker Stanley was right. But now Jian was drunk and thinking about his ex. He remembered that he was dumped by the person he thought was his soulmate two years ago to the date and had to throw himself a pity party to celebrate. As he heard a knock on the door, he groaned and rolled around before getting up and answering. “Minjoon, hi...” he said, realizing in that moment that he was wearing Christmas penguin pajama pants.
Joonie greeted Jian with a smile and a quiet hi as he set down the picnic basket so he could drape the blanket over his shoulders.  “Warm and soft always makes me feel better.” Minjoon smiled, retrieving the basket again and patting the lid lightly. “Food too. I brought things to make you either the best mushroom risotto you’ll ever eat ever or the best pizza bagels you’ll ever eat. Depends on how soon you feel up to eating.”
He blinked at Minjoon in confusion, almost forgetting about the texts he had sent not long ago. “I, uh, I’ve never had pizza bagels before,” he admitted. His parents considered it to be junk food, and they never kept much junk food in the house. As an adult, Jian internalized their lessons about healthy eating, but he occasionally went to drive-thrus after long days at work. “Have you ever had Mike’s Hard Lemonade before? My co-worker said it was tasty and I didn’t believe him, but it does taste like lemonade!” He snuggled up in the blanket, bringing it closer to his face. “This smells nice.”
“Pizza bagels it is! And they’ll be the yummiest you’ll ever eat ever and they’ll ruin all other pizza bagels for you forever.” Minjoon nodded confidently. He may have been biased, considering he’d made both the bagels and the sauce he brought over. “Um.. nope. I can’t say I have. I like making cocktails because it’s about flavours and that’s like my one skill. I mostly like wine though because of how well it pairs with food and I love food so that’s mostly what I drink if I’m at home or a friends.” He felt his face flush when Jian commented on the blanket. “Ah, that’s my uh.. I have a pillow mist? It’s lavender, jasmine and sandalwood. I put it on my blankets too because it’s supposed to be soothing.”
“Oh. I guess I’m trying new things today.” He was genuinely interested to see how this would turn out. “I don’t like too many alcohols because of the taste. I liked the cocktails you made that one time because they tasted like fruits. Every beer I’ve ever tried tasted like wet bread. I think I tried wine once and didn’t like it.” Most of his alcohol-based misadventures occurred during college. He tried a bunch of different things but disliked most of them. “Your pillow mist is nice. You’re nice.”
“You’ll have fun, I promise. If not fun, you’ll at least have a full tummy.” Joonie put his hand on Jian’s shoulder to guide him back slightly and let himself in so he could close the door behind himself. “We don’t want the little ones escaping. Ollie, really. Reggie will probably take some time but better safe than sorry.” Minjoon could only nod in agreement at the opinion on the drinks. “Yeah, I’m not really a beer drinker. I don’t really like it but cocktails that don’t taste like alcohol are the best. Except for the fact that you can just drink them like juice and get drunker than you want to. Do you really like it? I can get you some.”
"Having a full tummy is a good idea. I didn't eat dinner yet." He didn't have any plans for dinner and was most likely going to eat leftovers before Joonie arrived. "Reggie is in his tank. I'm not sure where Ollie is. He's probably asleep on my bed. Or in my laundry hamper." If he was awake, he would have already darted for the door. "I don't think I need any more alcohol. I'll just become more sad." Too much alcohol made him sad and he never figured out how to fix that.
“This won’t come as a surprise but I’m full of good ideas when it comes to food. Mostly because my ideas just involve eating and that’s always a good idea.” Joonie nodded when Jian explained where the pets were, not quite sure where Jian’s room or the hamper was so he couldn’t try and peek to wave at Ollie. “No, I don’t think you should drink any more unless it water or juice.” He paused slightly, looking at the bags he brought before he set them down where he stood and opened his arms. “Do you want a hug?”
"You do love food... I don't mean that as a bad thing. Just an observation. You make good food and you have good taste." The last thing Jian wanted was for Joonie to think he was insulting his weight or eating habits. When asked whether he wanted a hug, he hesitated. He knew a hug would feel very nice and comforting right now, but he was afraid he'd start crying if he was hugged. He didn't want to be perceived as a pathetic baby, even though he felt like one on the inside. After a moment of silence, he caved in, burying his face in his friend's shoulder.
“I really do. It’s always been that um.. Like a constant? It’s always been a source of comfort for me.” He wrapped Jian up in a hug when the other leaned into it, his crooked fingers stroking the hair at the nape of his neck before he was massaging it the way that always helped soothe him. “I’ve got you.”
“My computer and my gaming consoles have been my source of comfort since I was young. If I feel lonely or sad, I can play a game and become someone else for a little while.” As soon as he finished saying his thought aloud, he realized just how sad it sounded. He thought to himself, ’I really am pathetic.’ He took a few deep breaths, trying to keep it together as his friend touched his hair, until he finally snapped and started crying into Minjoon’s shoulder.
“That’s the same for everyone, isn’t it? Why we have so many games where we’re the hero? Where at the end of it, we’re the ones who save the day and everything is okay.” He hoped his reassurance came across as exactly that, a reassurance, and not him trying to invalidate Jian’s feeling of comfort. Joonie understood how hard it can be to open up, to spill secrets no matter how big or small. He wrapped his arms tighter around Jian, rest his chin on his shoulder and held him closer; another quiet “I’ve got you.” leaving him.
“I— I guess so. I haven’t put too much thought into it.” He wanted to be able to save the day and make everything okay in his own life, but he didn’t even think he was the main character of his story. If anything, he was the villain who ruined everything. “Why are you so nice?” he mumbled, squeezing Joonie even tighter.
“And that’s okay too. Not everything has to have a reason, you can enjoy things simply because they’re enjoyable.” Minjoon spoke softly, trying to be as gentle as possible with Jian so he knew he was in a safe space. “I’m not so nice, I’m Minjoon.” Even with the joke, he kept his voice light but still, the corners of his lips curled up slightly in amusement at himself as he squeezed back.
Jian sniffled, asking, “Like Animal Crossing?” He truly did play Animal Crossing just for the sake of playing it. There was no winning or losing in that game, just colorful animals. “No, but you really are a nice person. I don’t know what I did to deserve a nice friend like you.”

Got tagged by @calamity-unlocked for the procrastinating writer ask, and might as well! Always fun to get away from the pains of editing, RIP to Falling Down Dry’s eighth chapter.
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
26.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
220,000.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
A lot. Just...a lot before I got into Ao3 so let’s keep it at that. But mainly I wrote for SU, Amphibia, and FMA.
4) What are your top five fics by kudos?
-Death of the Ego
I would say this happened because I wrote this at the right place at the right time. People had been theorizing that Steven would get corrupted ever since the trailer to SUF, and I originally made this as a one-shot...until people encouraged me to start exploring it.
Wouldn’t say it was my best work, but every time I wrote something it meant I improved slowly, and I would always appreciate that no matter the weather.
-Doesn’t Have to be Solo
Oh man, I loved this one! Just a series of connected events with Steven going on his road trip, and learning more about himself and who he was along the way. It also was the fic where I needed a lot of beta readers as time went on, so it made me learn a lot about grammar, prose, and overall the internal rules I developed while writing in general.
-Beyond the Music Box
This was the surprising one! This fic was originally a place where I could archive all the drabbles I written on Tumblr, and y’all really wanted it due to how chaotic my tag format is for this stuff.
It’s surprising for me because I didn’t expect a lot of love when it came to my casual writings since they take I don’t know an hour or so in creating, so thank you everyone who encouraged me to do this.
Just ignore the fact I’ve been lazy at updating the drabbles, shhhh.
-Building One Up
Marcanne, my beloved. Me and my friend kept talking about how Anne was a buff dork and this was at a time where no one really focused on that except mainly on Sasha when it came to strength (for obvious reasons).
I found this slander (I’m joking, by the way) and decided that I needed to write my feelings out on the topic.
And y’all agreed with me so dthdfthtfhtfht.
This also was the first time I had to hone in on a new form of characterization entirely, being that I infused the character’s thoughts and feelings into the way the prose flowed out itself. For Marcy, I went on a pretty analytical front with this piece, and it helped me get into the groove for people like Anne and Sasha and many others over the course of writing.
-Late Night Talks
I didn’t expect this one to blow up at all. I wrote this at one a.m. and y’all just grabbed this fic and ran, I am still confused.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I respond to comments all the time because comments just give a lot of serotonin, you know? Someone took their time out of their day to remark on things I did in the work itself, and it’s just very validating to see. It also creates this environment that says, “Yes, I see you, and you can interact with me anytime you want.” so it’s all about that friendliness unless you’re rude to me back.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Pizza for One. Had an angst kick when SUF occurred so I milked it whenever my motivation got the best of me.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I don’t write crossovers unless you mean a crossover of characters to a new environment and set of rules. I would gladly write characters into the FMA world, oh my Lord!
But I guess the craziest stuff I’d written would just be comedy sketches? Best example would be Joe and Bessie having kids and Marcy having a conniption over it, so take that what you will.
8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t believe so? I did get one person on my old SU fic asking me to continue while giving me unsolicited advice but they apologized not soon after.
9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do write smut. I write it privately but I adore characterization and intimacy, and so I try to make rather domestic pieces that connect to the characters themselves. If it has a certain kink, I make sure to research it so I could understand why the character finds the act rather arousing, and I just want to pay respects to the act itself.
Even with our current day and age, there’s still a lot of conservative anti-sex rhetoric going around, and I always try to view the act of physical intimacy in the same lens as one who adores love in all its different facets and forms.
10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
11) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope to that either!
12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Sadly, no. I do art trades with people and those are lovely to do since we get to brainstorm and make art together, but I’ve never co-written work with someone. If anyone wants to do that, then sure, just hit me up.
13) What’s your all time favourite ship?
It changes every season, every morning tide, every peace loving hour on the Planet Earth.
It’s Marcanne, right now.
When it comes to ships I always go with the Friends-to-Lovers dynamic, but a lot of the ships I have come from seeing the amount of intrigue in how that type of ship would play out. That could be with Kannao and the amount of commentary over Japanese gender biases, or Royai with their very complicated but extensive adoration and loyalty to one another.
For Marcanne, it’s all about that playful banter that could definitely bubble out of the surface if you just (bangs table) allow them to communicate and be transparent fully. (cries)
14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Sadly, that Anne fic with her confiding in Hop Pop after they get settled in her house. After what happened with the sneak peek, I realized that this fic would need a lot of build-up to be satisfying and I didn’t have the strength to do a 10k build-up to Anne crying.
Maybe I’ll finish it, we’ll see.
15) What are your writing strengths?
Writing strengths would be concise prose and characterization. I am a worry wart, I worry over the importance of each paragraph and how it all forms and transitions together, it’s just a part of how I work a great deal of the time. And man, characterization is the big one for me, if I don’t understand how the people work and could theoretically function in the story itself, I feel absolutely lost.
Which is also the reason why I’m struggling right now with FDD Chapter Eight, because Marcy’s reaction to Yunan keeps eluding my grasp!
16) What are your writing weaknesses?
I overthink a lot. Concise prose is great but I force myself to get all fancy and massive with details since I’ve got to unless I want a specific part to be so quick and unmeaningful, and this leads to pacing issues or just not enough intended time for people to breathe in the fic itself.
17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I need to get a beta to make sure I don’t sound like an asshole, haha. I do love other languages, they are beautiful and can add a lot towards an audience who does know the language itself, but it depends on the work I’m doing.
18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
That would be uhhhhh, my memory is lacking but Minecraft. The whole videogame had a wish fulfillment atmosphere to it, and since I got rather obsessed by how anything could happen in the engine itself I went with it.
19) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
When it comes to me, my own perception of my art changes day to day. Back when I first posted the Lapidot fic I thought it was the best thing I’ve ever done even though now, with the knowledge I have from workshops and betas, that the style I drafted had a lot of grammar and prose mistakes that I wouldn’t make in the future. It is pretty subjective, but for now I think the best fic I could look at right now would be amestrian catcher (set something ablaze).
Thank you Calamity once again for this! And I’ll be tagging @resplendent-chungus, @aanau, and @golddragon387!
