A storyline from Third Life that is criminally underused in fandom is just how much effort Martyn went to in the first few episodes to drive a wedge between the flower husbands. Specifically to convince Jimmy that Scott didn’t actually care about him in an effort to lure him over to team with him instead.

There’s a lot that could be done with that.

Rewatching the X-Men films and hearing Erik Lehnsherr talking about how mutants need to fight back and the humans can’t be trusted not to oppress and genocide mutantkind got me like

I feel like we got to learn so much about why Lucy is the way she is in this episode. We’ve gotten hints about her strained family relationships but this ep really clarified so much of Lucy’s character to me. Why she chafed at not being open in her relationship with Kate. Why her experience of heartbreak was so crushing. Why she’s not interested in a big white wedding. Why she works for the navy despite a phobia of water. Why her friends are like family to her. And, perhaps counterintuitively, why she is so very warm and loving.

I have long said that Lucy’s desire to be open with Kate was hard won—I think she fought against her family’s disapproval to be her true self. And I think she decided she’d never compromise herself again. I really liked how in the end, Lucy admitted that she admired Tatyana’s bravery because I think it means that she has to admit that she was brave and that she deserves freedom too. 💫💫💫

I will say some people are too quick to give up on buddie after every episode when the love interest of that era is still around, y’all did the same thing when Taylor and Ana and all the rest were still in the picture too and we all know how they turned out. And even if we do get some Tommy backstory soon that doesn’t mean anything either, we got Taylor backstory and again look how they turned out.

So I’m watching fantasy high junior year (Disclaimer I haven’t finished episode 2 yet) but something that always sort of frustrates me with high school graduation media is this idea that like your friend group will completely crumble forever! And they’re setting that up in fhjy and setting Riz up for failure, and yes it’s true that they won’t all go to the same college and relationships won’t last forever and all that, but like?? I still talk to my high school friends all the time. We have a group chat, we FaceTime, we see each other on breaks. My college friends know my high school friends and they’ve now even become friends. I think it’s why I liked the seven so much, cause in the end sure they’re all doing their own thing but they didn’t completely abandon each other just because everyone said they would.

It’s like when I was in high school, I had a lot of trouble with friends and I still do, and it was really hard to constantly hear everyone tell me that all my friends will drift away forever, cause that’s not true! You just have to put in the effort to maintain a connection. So I really hope fantasy high doesn’t just have them all drift away because that’s what’s “supposed” to happen. Yeah, you grow and become different people, but that doesn’t mean everything that happened before is null and no high school friendships were real.

Idk I know there’s a truth to drifting apart but I hate how everyone sets it as this cursed inevitability and you’re naive if you think you’ll still be friends. Still love this season, but that always sort of frustrates me.
