as someone who is a big fan of bernie and hates biden with a burning passion it pains me to have to be his wingman to all my dumbass leftwing friends who don't want to vote now but you gotta do what you gotta do. But in all seriousness, I find it easier to come at them from a practical standpoint and empathize with how much I too hate the centrists. Do you have any other ideas on how to convince people? Some acquaintances of mine are being stubborn.
Convincing leftist to vote for Biden even though he sucks?  Well here are a few tracts you can take
1) The first and more important one in my mind is this.  If Biden wins in 2020, we will have an election in 2024.  If Trump wins, that is not necessarily true.  You can point to the examples of Hungary, Poland, and India in terms of how difficult it can be to remove authoritarian inclined leaders if they want to stay in power.  Even if Biden sucks (and he does) the fact is that we need to ensure that there is a democracy moving forward
2) Biden is likely only going to serve one term, so we can try again with a progressive in 2024 (warren?)   The fact is, despite our ideas being popular, we lost, and we need too do more to infiltrate the party.  I”m seeing Sanders as like the leftist Berry Goldwater, and we need our reagan (who can you know...read).
3) Biden again sucks, but there are a few things he does take seriously which leftists should really like.  Specifically voting reform, in part because of his African American base, one thing Biden does seem to take seriously is pushing back against Republican voter suppression, which should make things easier for the left going forward.  I mean to just use one example, if the democrats are in power when the 2020 census is conducted, that will make everybody’s lives a lot easier.  We don’t want a repeat of 2010 in terms of the census.  If Republicans can rig it again, we might not ever be able to win an election. for another 10 years, despite having more people
4) Scotus.  No leftist platform can ever come to being if the Supreme Court is dominated by republicans.  The rightward tilt of the Democratic party started in large part when the Supreme Court became solidly republican.  IF Trump wins in 2020, we might have 7 republicans on the court, or even 8, which makes any leftist policies impossible.  And with 4 more years, Trump will have an almost thoroughly republican court.  We need to clear the courts already, Trump makes it so much worse
5) If Biden wins, and especially if we get the Senate, there is a real chance the Republican party might entirely collapse, which allows the left so many more options.
6) Biden sucks but he is still better.  Biden wouldn’t have left the paris accord, he wouldn’t have passed the tax cut, he wouldn’t attempt to appeal Obamacare, and he would try to pass some things we like, like for example a $15 dollar minimum wage, which is something the Democrats take seriously.  He also wouldn’t have children in cages, he wouldn’t have fucked up the response to the pandemic as badly, he wouldn’t give the go ahead to the Alt Right, and he wouldn’t have risked a war with Iran.  There is a reason why Sanders is going to campaign for Biden.
7) Finally....when has not voting ever made the parties less right wing?  If the left doesn’t vote, then the centrists are going to basically assume “we can’t rely on these people, it isn’t worth our time”  If we vote and Biden wins, they know they need us.  This is how the african American southern population were able to get the democratic party to listen to them, by always voting.

38 Classic Polish Books You Should Know (About)
Tumblr media
requested by anon
That’s a hell of a Buzzfeed title, wow! I focused solely on books, but you need to remember that poems play a HUGE part in Polish literature in general. Instead of doing a list of "classic Polish texts", which would include full-on books, poems, dramas, everything, and would be probably 18637 positions long, I did only some of the most important books, dramas, and comic books. If you’d like me to tell you more about anything on this list, cover something more in detail, or make another list — shoot me an ask!
I ordered the list NOT by how much I like these books or how strongly I’d recommend them. The list is ordered from the easiest ones to the toughest ones -- literarily, not linguistically.
Also, I know that the ask was about classical books, which I too included in this list.
Let’s start with something approachable — comic books and "normal" books that are so easy and pleasant to read. Except for the two books about war — they’re approachable but the topic doesn’t really make them pleasant.
Pan Samochodzik by Zbigniew Nienacki
A series of books about Pan Samochodzik, who’s an art historian and a detective, and his job is to solve theft, smuggling, and forgery cases. He’s basically a mix of Indiana Jones and Hercules Poirot. The background for the books is life in Polish People’s Republic, but it’s actually shown not as rough as it was in real life. Apart from that, they’re basically children’s books — very light, easy, and funny.
I’d definitely recommend them, I mean, who doesn’t like stories like that? Plus, you don’t need to be God knows how good with Polish to read them.
adaptations: There are 4 movies and a TV show based on the books, each based on a different book from the series.
Podróże z Herodotem by Ryszard Kapuściński
You can read it even when you’re like 10 because it’s a very nice, easy, pleasant story. An autobiography where the author describes his travels to Asia and Africa and compares them to the travels of Herodotus. Very interesting, often funny, it gives you a full view of different people and cultures and how rich the world is. It teaches you a little bit of history, it teaches you a little bit about the modern world (I think the story starts in the 1950s), and the comparison between these two — it’s really fascinating to see that, generally, the world hadn’t changed that much.
I would wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.
W pustyni i w puszczy by Henryk Sienkiewicz
The only book I cried on and not because it was so beautiful, but because it was so painful to read. Okay, I was like 11 when I read it, but technically it’s a book for kids, so…
It’s a story about two kids who get lost in Africa and they hike through like 5 countries to find their fathers (who worked in Africa and just happened to forget to take their children one day I guess?). Really, it’s about friendship, dedication, love, all the important values in life. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s painfully boring to read.
It’s a wonderful story, don’t get me wrong, and I loved it as a child — but the movie. The book I hated. So I do recommend it, but the movie.
adaptations: 2 TV shows and 2 movies (the one from 2001 being the most popular).
Tytus, Romek i A’Tomek by Henryk Jerzy Chmielewski
Comic books. Two friends try to humanize a monkey while traveling and exploring different areas of science and history. It’s funny, absurd, educational, and understandable for non-advanced learners of Polish.
Do I recommend? Absolutely.
adaptations: 2 episodes of a short TV show, a video game, and a movie from 2002 titled "Tytus, Romek i A’Tomek wśród złodziei marzeń" — but it’s not based on the comics, only on the characters.
Kajko i Kokosz by Janusz Christa
A series of comic books which is basically a Polish version of “Asterix”. It’s about two Slavic warriors who have all kinds of adventures and fights with Zbójcerze. It’s all fictional and to be honest, I don’t really remember much from the comics, but I know that I loved them as a child. There are also renewals of the old volumes as well as new stories based on the original story and they’re coming out even in 2018.
I wouldn’t say it’s something you absolutely have to read, but if you want to, then it’s worth your time.
adaptations: A TV show that’s still being made and a video game.
Zemsta by Aleksander Fredro
Language-wise, it is pure genius. Not too easy, though. The jokes, the phrases, the sayings — it is the base of common Polish language. Story-wise, it’s basically Polish Romeo and Juliet. Two families live in a castle and hate each other, a girl from one family is in love with a guy from the other family. We also get some more important side characters, they’re very nicely written, iconic even. The whole drama is hilarious, so yes I would calmly recommend it to people who are somewhat fluent in Polish.
adaptations: 2 movies (the one from 2002 being more popular).
Wiedźmin by Andrzej Sapkowski
I think it’s the definition of contemporary classic. It’s a series of short stories, later an actual book, later comics, and finally a movie and a video game. The book is about this witcher and a child of destiny who’s a witcher-in-training. The main character needs to protect her. The stories and comics, however — they’re obviously about the witcher, but I don’t know the details.
If I’m 100% frank, I have not read the stories, the book, the comics, nothing. So I can’t fully recommend it to you, but I can tell you this: everyone who’s into fantasy is crazy about it. I suppose if you like fantasy, Wiedźmin’s a must.
adaptations: A movie from 2001, a TV show from 2002, and a video game.
Solaris by Stanisław Lem
This one’s, on the other hand, is a must if you’re into sci-fi. It’s about contact: with aliens, other civilizations, the unknown — but it’s not specified, which actually makes the book so interesting.
It’s been translated into multiple languages, so I’d say it’s easy to get, and if you’re either into sci-fi or into modern Polish literature — do read it.
adaptations: 3 movies (in 2002 Soderbergh made it a movie, so I suppose it’s worth checking out, but I personally haven’t watched it).
Kamienie na szaniec by Aleksander Kamiński
A story of 3 boys who just graduated from high school when WW2 broke out. It’s an actual story of actual people and it is heartbreaking. If you want to read anything about the WW2 that isn’t very technical or boring, this book is definitely for you. It’s about normal lives in abnormal circumstances and you get very attached to the characters and their stories, and the book actually makes you feel things.
Would recommend.
adaptations: A movie from 1977 titled "Akcja pod Arsenałem", which is based on the book, and a movie from 2014 under the same title as the book, also only based on it.
Medaliony by Zofia Nałkowska
An omnibus of short stories about WW2. Very short, very shocking, sometimes even disgusting. The stories are about people who survived the war and they are actual things that actually happened. I don’t think I get appalled easily, but those are horrifying, really.
A good recommendation for someone who wants to learn about the more (or less) humane side of the war. I would actually say it’s a must if you want to at least begin to understand the tragedy that WW2 was.
Tumblr media
And now we’re moving onto some more… mature books. Those are usually compulsory readings in middle school and high school, and to get what they’re about, you need to have some common knowledge. Nothing too specific, though. And there’s a lot to them that you can enjoy even if you don’t know much about general Polish culture and history, so I would say giving them a shot is definitely worth it. Plus, you can learn a lot if you’re a careful reader.
Lalka by Bolesław Prus
Hands down my favorite Polish book of all times. The best thing they made me read in school and I swear this book made the 12 years of tears and pain that I spent in school worth it. Long story short, it’s about a dude from quite a poor family and he becomes rich for an aristocrat he loves very, very deeply. But she’s a total bitch and uses him like an old rag. Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t like romance but Lalka… I mean, the lengths he went for her, the things he did for her… I don’t want to spoil the book but it’s full of dramatic events, interesting characters, surprises, and most importantly — it’s absolutely exciting for the reader! It truly sucks you in. Not to mention the book in a phenomenal way shows how Polish society of the 1870s functioned and thought. And don’t even get me started on the psychology of single characters. I’ve read only a few books in my life that made me feel so passionate about their characters. Character-building-wise, Lalka is the peak of art.
If you want to read only one book from this list, this is the one.
adaptations: Tons of plays, a movie (1968) and a TV show (1978). Pretty accurate, but I personally didn’t like them.
Potop by Henryk Sienkiewicz
There’s a trilogy: Ogniem i mieczem, Potop, Pan Wołodyjowski — and they tell the history of Poland in the 17th century. For some reason, only Potop is considered an absolute must, but if I’m honest I didn’t read it, so I personally can’t recommend it to you. Potop itself is about a guy who wants to marry this girl but she thinks he betrayed the country, so he needs to clear his name by fighting by the king’s side. It sounds very fairy-tale-like, but the background is actual history and the author himself operates incredibly well with the real and the imaginary.
The thing with Sienkiewicz’s historical books is that they are pretty damn good, so even if you’re not too much into that kinda stuff but there’s a tiny part of curiosity in you, I don’t think it’s a mistake to check it out.
adaptations: A movie from 1974.
Krzyżacy by Henryk Sienkiewicz
Basically when Poland was all… under occupation and non-existent, Sienkiewicz wrote this book to bitch about Germanization, as well as to remind the Polish people about their country. The book is about the great times of Poland, from 1399 all the way to the greatest battle of 1410 when Poland kicked Prussia’s ass. But we also get some romance, some schemes, some awful deaths… The full set if you will.
A lot of people say it’s a super ass boring book, but in my opinion, it’s absolutely fantastic. The details, the numerosity of threads (that somehow doesn’t confuse you at all), again the imaginary intwining with the real… I do recommend it not only to people who are into history, but to anyone looking for a good read that would explain a bit of Polish nature.
adaptations: A movie from 1960.
Quo vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz
Honey is this one fantastic… It’s a story about a Christian girl in Nero’s Rome and a non-Christian guy who’s in love with her. Of course, at first it looks like a love story, which it is, but there’s so much to it. The book is a knockout of a description of what life was like in ancient Rome. Everything from history, through society, to things like the time of bathing of each social class — there’s everything. And, what’s even better, it’s not boring at all! Actually, the book is unbelievably well-balanced between eventful, not overwhelming, and detailed.
I would definitely, definitely recommend. It’s not exactly a must and if you want to read a Sienkiewicz historical book, then Krzyżacy or Potop would be a better idea since they’re about Poland, but Quo vadis would most definitely not be a waste of time.
adaptations: 6 movies (the one from 2001 is the most popular one), a TV show, and a ton of plays.
Ferdydurke by Witold Gombrowicz
A book you either love or hate. I personally love it, I’m kin with this book, whatever. While reading it, I agreed with every single sentence, with every single opinion, I felt like it was me who wrote it in my past life or something. Just. An. Extraordinary. Book. Remember when I said that Lalka was the reason why I didn’t hate school? It was, but Ferdydurke is the reason I’m alive, kids.
It’s about a 30-year-old man who’s a writer (kinda), but he can’t write. Suddenly, he turns into a kid and is forced to go to school again. That’s just the plot of the book, however, because the story is simple, absurd, inconsistent, weird, and you don’t really read the book for the story. It’s what the story stands for. It’s about how pointless society is. How society creates idiotic rules to standardize people and to take away any creativity or any will to live. How people need to protect themselves and their originality but they can’t because originality doesn’t exist. And our main character explores all those philosophies. It’s a fantastic criticism of society, school, systems, classes, life.
Language-wise, it’s also a very interesting book. Definitely not an easy one. Gombrowicz was the master of language, the words and phrases he came up with, the ideas he hid within them. The language of his books creates, not only describes, the world from the books. His language is a whole different, self-sufficient being. Rare, striking, awe-inspiring.
As I said, somewhat philosophical and very metaphorical. You need to feel from your very heart what Gombrowicz means to understand this book.
adaptations: A theater performance from 1985 that you can watch on Youtube and a movie from 1991. I wouldn’t recommend watching them, though.
Sklepy cynamonowe by Bruno Schulz
Weird, metaphorical, a bit… insane? I love it. It’s an omnibus of short stories that are a description of the adult world through a child’s eyes. It’s like a dream, it’s impossible, it’s very soft and delicate and magical, really. It’s unlike anything. You feel like you’re reading a description of some very sensual dream. The stories make you wonder about the way people think, the way childhood affects your future life, the way the world works, and they make you realize that you don’t understand anything ever. But if you’re not looking for a deeper meaning, you can read the stories just for pleasure because they are honestly so sensual, sexy (but not porny, more like seductive), fascinating, and just strange, you actually read the stories with all of your senses. Makes you enter a whole different world and I will not exaggerate when I say that it changes your perception of everything.
As I said, it’s unlike anything you’ll ever encounter in life. A million out of ten would recommend.
adaptations: There is a short film from 1986 based on one of the stories from the book. It’s called "Ulica krokodyli".
Cudzoziemka by Maria Kuncewiczowa
One of my top 10. It is a story of the last day of a woman’s life. She knows she’s dying and she knows that all of her life she was in pain. So she recalls her entire life, all the big decisions she ever made, to find the source of her misery and to escape reality. It is a very sad book, but rather that depress the reader, it makes you think. It’s a story about alienation — the main character lived in a foreign country, never got to do what she actually wanted to do, never got to be with whoever she wanted to be with, and so everything she did, everywhere she went, everyone she spent time with, she felt out of place. The book was revolutionary in terms of composition and it explored the main character’s psychology very deeply. A fascinating, thought-provoking, original book.
Definitely would recommend.
adaptations: A movie from 1986.
Tumblr media
And finally, books for the strong, books for the advanced, books for the masters. To get these, you actually need some strong background knowledge on Polish history and culture, especially society- and politics-wise. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad, they’re just… demanding.
Granica by Zofia Nałkowska
It is about… uhh… society, morality and the lengths a person can go to achieve what they want. Sounds complicated and serious, and it sort of is, but it’s also totally worth your time because it doesn’t really tire you as much as you could think it would. And it’s thought-provoking as well. It’s about this dude who has a wife, a career, and a lover, and he basically ruins his life and the lives of everyone around him — which is quite exciting and somewhat frightening to read. So if you’re into ambitious, psychological stuff, then I say yes! Go for it.
adaptations: A movie from 1938.
Chłopi by Władysław Reymont
It’s basically a longass description of one year in Polish countryside in the late 19th/early 20th century. Personally, I think it shows and defines the society of that time extremely well and it surely is admirable that someone wrote almost a thousand pages describing in detail things such as preparing cabbage for dinner or collecting crops. Reymont actually won the Nobel prize for this book.
Would recommend if you’re not looking for anything too thrilling. Even though the book has some iconic moments like taking away Jagna on a wheelbarrow cause she was a slut…
adaptations: A movie from 1922 and a TV show, which was later turned into a movie, from 1972.
Przedwiośnie by Stefan Żeromski
A Polish family in Russia (actually in Azerbaijan but before WW1 it was Russia, so). They live awesome lives until WW1 breaks out and the father has to leave the family. Then, the son goes a little nuts and joins communists and then there’s a revolution, the son gets traumatized and he runs away to Poland (where he’d never been before) where he’s looking for a prosperous life that his father had promised him. And Poland had just regained independence, so everyone hopes that it will be the oasis of prosperity and well-being once it’s renovated. The book is about how hope and gullibility (but mostly hope) are heartlessly crushed by reality. It is also a story about growing up because we follow the main character all the way from his careless youth through his war-and-revolution trauma to a point where he has to decide about his future. But most importantly, I think, it’s a historically important story. It was written when Poland was a new country and it was supposed to remind people that communism is bad and politics, in general, is crap, as well as propose some political solutions for the new country. That’s the general message but there are lighter moments like descriptions of Polish countryside, a lot of flirting with pretty girls, and even a murder.
It’s a good story, it’s a deep story — but not too complicated. And it’s actually very interesting, and I can promise you it’s not as heavy as I made it sound.
10/10 would recommend.
adaptations: Two movies — one from 1928 and one from 2001.
Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz
It’s an epic that describes life in the countryside in the 19th century. It was mainly written to remind Poles who had emigrated to France what a wonderful country Poland originally was, even though it was entirely under occupation, completely wiped off of any map. Naturally, everything there is presented through rose-colored glasses but still, if you’re looking for the classic of the classics, I suppose Pan Tadeusz is the book for you. If anyone wants to understand Polish literature, this book is a must.
Would I recommend? Sure if you’re here to sink in Polish culture or if you like quite full of adventure and yet easy reading. Easy as in the story’s nice and pleasant, the language is rather tedious.
adaptations: A surprisingly good and accurate movie from 1999. And the script is actually the text of the epic.
Dziady by Adam Mickiewicz
I think every Polish student hates Dziady. I didn’t, though. It’s a drama, actually, there are 4 parts of the drama, the last one not quite finished. I think the problem with Dziady is that no one really knows what it’s about. It was written in the mid 19th century, so again — Poland’s out of every map. The tzar is a bitch and Adam Mickiewicz disses him in the wildest of ways, but it doesn’t make sense until someone explains it to you. If you asked me what Dziady were about, in my opinion, all 4 parts are about love. Love for your country, love for your lover, love for yourself, love for other people, love for your family — all possible kinds of love. Sounds nice, right? That’s because it is nice. The problem with Dziady is that if you don’t delve deep into it, you won’t get it at all. The words as you read seem just like random words in a random order, no point whatsoever, skipping from topic to topic, all four parts at first seem completely unrelated. But the deeper you dig, the more you see. It is a very rich drama, there’s something in it for literally everyone, but it requires a ton of commitment and probably someone to guide you well through it.
Add it to my recommendations only if you are desperate to read it and if you have all the things above, aka time, commitment, and help. And language skills. The 2nd part, however, is short and it’s the easiest one, so do check it out.
adaptations: "Lawa" from 1989 is based on the second (which, in order, is the first) part of Dziady.
Wesele by Stanisław Wyspiański
It is such a deep drama that you just don’t get it. Kind of like with Dziady, except this one is waaay shorter and basically just disses everyone. In Dziady, the main character’s idea to show people love was to take control of them. Wesele, however, was about motivating people to do stuff by offending them.
Personally, Wesele is one of my favorites because it is just so problematic. Wyspiański attended a wedding in 1900 and then described it. Each guest in the drama (and at the actual wedding) represented an attitude that the general of Polish society had towards the country’s situation (occupation). And after 105 years of occupation, it seemed that the society didn’t really care anymore and just accepted their fate. Wyspiański was very much against that attitude. So basically what he did was he publicly washed the society’s dirty linen by pinning it onto his real-life friends. When Wesele premiered, people were actually chasing Wyspiański down the streets because they hated him so much. Not to mention that in the drama the whole offending thing is actually pretty profound and harsh. So much so that actual real-life guests weren’t enough for him — Wyspiański needed to introduce ghosts from the past, people who played an important role in Poland’s history. Of course, that was the author’s idea of motivating people to fight for their freedom.
The drama is full of references to Polish literature, Polish culture, and Polish history, so unless you’re fluent in these three, I wouldn’t tell you to read it.
I love Wesele with all my heart. If you want to give it a shot, instead of reading the actual drama, I’d suggest reading the story behind it and the summary and interpretations. This way you can enjoy it, which I think anyone should, without knowing much of the background. If I’m honest, you can’t really get much out of the drama itself. But I definitely recommend spending some time on this book, it’s definitely worth it.
adaptations: From 1973, it’s pretty good and quite accurate, but just a bit tiring.
Szewcy by Witkacy
Oh boy. A grotesque, modernist drama about the future of society, where the author basically talks about how people are doomed and headed for inevitable self-destruction. There’s a lot about how mechanic and inhumane people have become and of course tons of criticism towards society, revolution, capitalism, communism, and fascism.
I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t recommend because I didn’t really understand the language. It was a pain in the ass reading this book and if I had read it earlier in life, I assure you that W pustyni i w puszczy wouldn’t be the only book that made me cry from pain.
adaptations: Tons of theater performances that you can watch on Youtube.
Tango by Stanisław Mrożek
It’s a drama about generation gap and some ideas to live by (like conformism or anarchy). Sounds complex, but it actually keeps it very simple and short, a kid would get it, really, and yet the story actually stays with you. It also makes you wonder about a place and meaning of an intellectualist in society. Not to mention the hilarious and absurd situations like convincing your grandma to just die already.
Personally, I enjoyed it. Even though it’s about quite serious stuff, it’s hilarious, so you do read it with pleasure.
adaptations: There are multiple theater performances available to watch on Youtube.
Balladyna by Juliusz Słowacki
The main idea behind the drama is how good and evil both function simultaneously in this world and the fight between the two. A nymph sends a prince to the main character’s house. The main character wants to marry the prince, so she does a lot of awful things. Basically. It’s a nice story, though strange. A story that you would read to a child, except the language of the drama is… complicated. Let’s be honest — it’s Romanticism after all.
I would recommend it, but I wouldn’t die to make someone read it.
adaptations: There is this absolutely awful movie from 2009 (English title: The Bait). It’s loosely based on Balladyna.
Kordian by Juliusz Słowacki
It’s about this guy who plans to kill the tzar. There was a deeper meaning too but don’t ask me about it, I just don’t remember. To be honest, it was surprisingly pleasant to read and sometimes quite funny (I don’t think it was supposed to be, though). But I wouldn’t recommend it unless you know a whole lot about Polish history and culture — or unless you’re dangerously interested in it. And I mean like, you’d kill and die for it.
Nie-Boska komedia by Zygmunt Krasiński
To be honest, it’s a weirdly good story and what surprises me most about it is that it’s actually understandable, even though it’s quite a typical romantic drama. Interesting, huh…
It’s about a man who is looking for his artistic self, leaves his family to pursue his art, and then there’s him trying to protect his country. It was actually written to criticize this romantic way of thinking and living, so there are a few moments where the author just dissed other authors of the time, but most importantly, the story is a comment on the current (current for them) political and sociological events, as well as religion, and a way for Krasiński to express his opinions.
Recommend? Meh. It’s a good read but it’s not a must and you gotta be in a mood for it. Also, a solid historical and literary background would make the reading way easier.
Tumblr media
My advice if you’re planning on reading any of these? Check the time period of the action. I swear if you do that and you pretty much can tell what the background for Poland was at the time, even just like one basic piece of information, it will make reading the book possible.
I think that’s about it. There are hundreds of other great Polish books that I can go on and on about (I can also talk about these for at least a few hours), so again -- if you have any questions, opinions, requests, anything, ask away.

andem. skam polska. Please go off.
oh my god, oh fuck. oh fuck. alright so you KNOW whats up, its all written in my head yk. i have imagined the fucking TRAILERS. and now we're absolutely NOT talking in terms of like realism cause poland SUCKS balls but yk. a dude can dream.
alright so i wouldn't change too much in s1 plot wise, only that jonas is trans and has a band (he plays guitar cause a jonas needs to play guitar, girl isak sings because i'm cliche like that. there are two other band members that i haven't developed properly yet. isak and jonas are childhood friends and used to have movie nights in blanket forts and this is relevant in s3). the eva would probably move from some countryside (like meeeee she comes from the middle of fucking NOWHERE) BUT like for Some reasons the whole thing could be set in some seaside town (this again is relevant in season 2). anyway, the penetrators are like a volleyball team which will also be relevant in later seasons. i have this Idea where there's a song sung by isak over some of the more relevant jonas/eva scenes and then later on there's something sung by jonas in s3 (im thinking end of ep5?) over a scene with isak where she's Going Through It. ideally isak would be nb cause i need that sweet self insert but i haven't decided yet. idk what the equivalent of russ could be in s1, like??? school board elections? that's for nerds and cishets i said what i said. maybe some play or whatever, i don't know.
season 2. y'all listen. girl volleyball player willrat, lesbian noora, willrat isn't actually manipulative and the relationship isn't toxic, she's just a bit of an asshole but has actual character development. i said what i said.
season 3. LISTEN, fucking LISTEN. isak starts staying over at jonas' more and more bc of her home situation yk and it gets to the point where she basically lives there. i mean they're childhood best friends yk. now the eskild??? jonas' older sister who's at uni and studies some bizarre course. m you know what's up. the equivalent of the nurse talk is with jonas' grandma over rosołek. EVEN?? she's trans, she PAINTS with OILS she's a LEGEND. i won't get into more details cause i've literally imagined almost every scene of s3 but here is a post where i went off about the first kiss. this NEEDS to happen.
season 4. god first of all our sans gets full ten episodes. second of all this is their last semester at high school so there's the pressure of finals and there's the stress of uni looming and she doesn't KNOW what she wants what she should do what she wants to have, and can she take a gap year? can she really? can she take the time to figure it all out??? and then on top of it all there's YOUSEF and her hearts going all whooshy and there's uni and love and her friends scared of whether they'll drift apart
anyway on top of it all there needs to be a party during each season where an abba song plays. thanks for your attention
if you're still here you can send me these!

@mccnhild tagged me in a few tags and 1) thank you!!! 2) since i’m apparently incapable of not talking abt myself on all platforms including what was meant to be a thirst blog for bts, but i haven’t actually like. said any concrete facts about myself lmao i figured i should actually talk about myself on here?? so this is a good opportunity to do that
uh well the first one is the bias selfie tag and everyone else might be cute enough to do that but i would honestly rather swallow a bee whole than directly compare myself to yoongi LIKE. i just. no. so i’ll just post a selfie. i almost never take pictures of myself so i really did not have much to choose from, ignore the janky lipstick and extremely yellow light lmao. i took these on the night that i went to go see burn the stage and YES i looked and felt extremely out of place #armysneedgothrepresentation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hate that these are so large but idk how to work tumblr despite having it since 2010
“get to know me” tag:
Nicknames/Pet names:  literally so boring lmfao, just em or emmy (although if you do call me emmy and you’re not a close family member i will be legally obliged to murder you). my grandma calls me milunia sometimes which is like a polish nickname for emily i think? that’s probably my only nickname that i actually like the sound of
Zodiac: this might get me killed for admitting this on tumblr dot com but i could literally care less about astrology. i’m a taurus but i don’t rly identify w it or care
Height: like 5′3.75 and yes i’m pretentious for not just saying 5′4 but that’s my truth
Last Movie: i literally never watch movies uhhh i think the last one was venom? i hate marvel movies normally but i will literally endure anything for tom hardy
Last Thing I Googled: "movies 2018″ bc i knew the last movie i watched was pretty recent but i couldn’t remember it lmfao
Favorite musician: radiohead, city and colour, alexisonfire, daughter, and this group that’s called bts i think???
Songs Stuck In My Head: desire by ateez, their new album BANGS and this song in particularly is so catchy
Other Blogs: @thedalishelves is my main and @calebandnott is my semi/mostly-inactive critical role blog. i’ve had like a billion others but those are the ones that are (ostensibly) active
Do I Get Asks?: i used to a lot but all of the blogs i got a lot of asks on are either deleted or i don’t use them much anymore. i do kinda miss it sometimes but also now no one asks me to diagnose them or tells me their trauma in detail so it’s a toss up really
Dream Trip: i have a phobia of traveling lmfao so it’s more about who i’m with rather than the destination? like i don’t really care at all about seeing new places, more about just being with someone that i like away from daily life for a bit. that being said i do wanna go to paris before i die. also italy and poland to like. connect w my ancestry or w/e lmfao
Amount of Sleep: when i just let my body do its thing (which has been almost all the time lately as i don’t have classes any more and my job has irregular hours) i naturally sleep for abt 9-10 hours. and yes that’s a lot and YES it sucks
Lucky Number: i mean it’s not lucky but i have a Thing abt the number 3 in certain situations
What I’m Wearing: sweats and hoodie bc i’m at home and if u wear anything other than comfy clothes at home. i have nothing to say to u
Favorite food: don’t rly have one atm
Dream job: english professor!!! i’m nearly half way through my phd so. almost there! (if any jobs ever open up 💀💀💀 might get to fulfill this dream in about 40 years or so)
Play any instruments:  i used to play the piano and the baritone (lmfao) but i’ve long abandoned them
Languages: obvs english, EXTREMELY bad french that i can passably read, sort of write, almost completely cannot speak and definitely cannot understand. also i took a year of arabic during my undergrad but i only remember how to kind of read the alphabet. and i have a pretty sizable polish vocabulary (considering i don’t speak it) but absolutely do not know ANY grammar, so the best i could do is throwing random polish words into english sentences. so. basically just english and reading in french
Random fact: *vegan voice* HI I’M A VEGAN
15 questions tag:
Are You Named After Someone: yeah emily brontë bc my mom loved wuthering heights lmfao. in hindsight.. really indicative of how my life would turn out (both in the whole ‘i love reading and i’m doing an english phd’ thing and also the gothic tragic horror lmfao)
When was the last time you cried: yesterday about 461 times. sometimes it be like that
Do You Have Kids: yes one beautiful little tabby cat named faye, i adopted her in august and she’s 3 years old now and extremely annoying and also perfect
Do You Use Sarcasm A Lot: i used to a lot more but now i’m too paranoid abt people hating me and thinking i’m negative so i try not to
What’s the First Thing You Notice About Someone: if they’re a threat or not (either in the immediate physical sense, like seeing someone walking down the street towards me, or in the more complicated sense that i can’t be bothered getting into now and yes i’m aware this is a depressing answer)
Eye Color: dark green
Scary Movie or Happy Ending:  what a weird thing to juxtapose lmfao ig i’m a bit too much of a wimp to watch scary movies often so happy ending? i’m really not one to need happy endings in a movie/story though
Any Special Talents: I Cannot Stress Enough How Untalented I Am. anything that i’m good at is due to dedicating A LOT of time and practice to it.
Where Were You Born: toronto
Hobbies: video games are definitely my main hobby. other than like, listening to music and indulging in whatever obsession i currently have (like bts for instance) all i do is play video games. reading isn’t a hobby anymore, bc even though it occupies most of my time, it’s all for school
Pets: seems pretty redundant to ask about children and pets in one tag. but in addition to my own cat, my family also has a cat named chloe who is super gross but also i love her to death and i think she might actually be an angel. if you could not tell i am completely a cat person and plan on adopting 300
How Tall Are You: let’s go w the less pretentious answer of 5′4 this time even if it’s 0.25″ short of the truth
What Sports Do You Play/Have You Played: LMMMMAAAAOOOOOOOOOO DO I LOOK LIKE
Favorite Subject: i mean. english. obviously
Dream Job: since i already answered this let’s really get wild w the “dream” part of dream job. i would absolutely love to somehow become extremely rich through no work of my own, move to an isolated castle w a really big library, wifi, and like. idk an archery range and some stables w horses and a lot of cats and an incredibly hot gameskeeper that i have a passionate but somewhat detached love affair with. like i’m tryna live like a combination of enya and lady chatterley from lady chatterley’s lover except w/out the shitty husband and class critiques and soul-destroying ennui
HOO BOY i really wrote way too much huh. i’m too avoidant to tag ppl but if u read that whole mess i owe u my whole life thank u

One holiday season hurdle overcome, one extra-large one to go - but not for another month, so I can chill for a while.
Highlights from tonight’s minefield:
1. One of my least favorite relatives went back to Poland recently, while a cousin has returned for several months. Said cousin is the sister of the mover/cheater cousin and the daughter of another least favorite relative. She was addicted to heroin for years and was sent back to Poland as part of her ‘rehabilitation’ from an environment that was apparently bad for her (all of this was kept under wraps until it eventually leaked out towards the end). Thankfully, she’s only come for several months and not permanently. While she isn’t a relative I particularly dislike, she is one whose presence makes me particularly uncomfortable because we’re about the same age and there’s often been a bit of an annoying pressure for us to be friendly (or, god forbid, even friends) with each other. This was exacerbated by the fact that she herself was often friendlier with me than I was comfortable with - and was, covert issues aside, a socially nice and likable person that it would’ve looked mean to be cold to. Thankfully, we managed to go our whole adulthood up to this point without ever ‘hanging out’ outside of family gatherings as she had suggested (and my parents had encouraged) in a few scattered instances. Tonight, there was little pressure, and I didn’t have to talk to her too much, though she did, as I was leaving, express some hope of hanging out with me at some point before she left, and mention something about having changed her number as I aloofly fumbled with my shoes. Honestly, the thing I hate the most about the idea of hanging out with her is the likelihood of being asked questions about myself and my life that I do not want to answer, because people like her and the rest of my relatives cannot understand the type of life I live and would probably just be weirded out and/or pity me (and also, whatever I said to her would likely get passed on to her Least Favorite Relative mother, who is quite judgmental and overbearing). That and the possibility of her forming an attachment to me and then trying to maintain more consistent contact with me afterward.
2. My cousin in Poland, the one from my mother’s side who was here two years ago, is getting married next year. My parents are going to the wedding, and the subject of whether I would go has already come up a nauseating number of times. I told my parents no months ago; unfortunately, the topic is now inevitably expanding to the extended family, and when asked about it presumptuously by Least Favorite Relative tonight, I said I didn’t know just to be polite and not shock any of these traditionalists with decisive disinterest, and was met with shock from Least Favorite Relative (but thankfully no one else) at the idea of even hesitating; it boiled over pretty quickly, but boy are there many months and a few parties still ahead before the wedding and my nonattendance are over with.
3. Leaving earlier than everyone else is an inevitable pain point of every party. Hardly ever is at least one person not a pain in the ass about it, but I’ve learned to suck it up and just tear off that band-aid resolutely. Tonight’s party moved at a mercifully faster-than-usual-pace anyway, but once I was done with my coffee and dessert, my mother having gone home early because she was working and my brother watching a football game with a couple of others, there truly was no purpose for me to linger and I wasn’t going to fuck about.
My family will never understand my lack of family values, and that is really the crux of it all. That and the fact that I either actively dislike or have nothing in common with most of my family, which bars any kind of reason for unnecessary association with them beyond simply family values.
On the plus side, I didn’t have to hear as many shitty ignorant opinions thrown around as I’d braced myself for. Also, I got to see my brother, some nice trees on the way there, and my cat at my parents’ house on the way back.
I keep hoping to reach a state in which these gatherings cease to be something I need to process afterward at all, where everything simply passes through me with no effect, an absolute nothing of a blip in my life - a meaningless if slightly annoying ad break in the middle of the show - as I know it really is in the grand scheme of things. And while they aren’t causing quite the stir in my body and mind that they used to, I'm still not all the way there.

#personal
I guess you could count how many of these I’ve written since I’ve lost my job.  It’s been six months of my life.  The entire process of whatever goes on in the shadows is far longer than that.  You start to look back in times of chaos at the things in your life that are stable.  I’ve been living at my address for about ten years now.  Yesterday I had a chance conversation with my landlord.  I asked them how they were doing.  They replied not good.  Mostly issues we’ve talked about on the property are ongoing.  About the only stable thing in my life that is one hundred percent tangible is the roof over my head.  I had just created a logo for my consultancy.  A nice Edwardian script that turned the LLC into a gordian knot by accident.  The website for it references the street address  along with the letters ‘vs.’  It’s very simple.  I have an appointment Monday with the bank to set up my checking with it.  I decided to pay  the rent early with a personal check of my own volition.  My personal discovery for anyone contemplating a small business is that Quickbooks is the easiest way to stay accountable for deductions.  A business check for rent does look nice.  It’s also nice if I ever have to hire someone.  I haven’t been in a lease for years.  My landlord is a family from Poland and not some huge land developer.  Largely my experience with being personally accountable for my own behavior and lifestyle is what gets me by in terms of security.  Being able to be always on in terms of being a people person is hard.  I have become an ‘on the spot’ sort of person by necessity since everyone is either up in your face or on the periphery here in Chicago.  People talk and gossip.  You can’t really hide anything here.  And yet, it’s hard to shake a stable foundation.  People talk a lot about clout out here.  When you think your history is buried and what you’ve done, it isn’t like you are in Hoffa’s grave or anything.  It’ll be dug up eventually.  And people will talk about it again and again.  There’s a point when stepping up is more like standing your ground.  And the more you stand your ground angry, the more people think you are looking for a fight.  Fighting is exhausting.  So is defending your every breath.  For however needlessly complex people process me behind my back, I’m pretty stubborn and predictable.  I’ve been on here saying the same thing for years though it has evolved considerably.  People ignore me on a level that is psychosocial at best.  I get invited to comment on professional threads on LinkedIn and it further proves the point.  Nobody listens or pays attention.  I’ve said it over and over again.  I begin to feel like the invisible man and it chews on my self worth like a meat grinder every day.  The basic metrics people use to evaluate their lives don’t really compare to what I’ve gone through.  This I know and am patient with.  People in business talk about the long term ‘scarring’ of what this economy has done to it’s people.  But they’re never in the streets with the people.  Their money is locked behind savings accounts, tax write offs, and bricks of gold not on expanding their payroll for professionals like myself.  And yet people are still hurting.  Nobody hurts more than I do even if I never show it.  I write about it week after week seemingly to an invisible audience.  An audience that probably feels exactly as invisible as I do.
That’s the trick, Mr. Potter.  I love that line.  I’ve been referencing it a lot mostly because Prometheus is on HBO.   It counts as a Christmas movie mostly because of Idris Elba’s line about time and the holidays.  Michael Fassbinder’s David is the one who is obsessed with Laurence of Arabia.  The scene is a trick involving a match.  The trick is not minding that it hurts.  How did I do it?  It was already done to me a long time ago.  And it always hurts every day the place I find myself in.  One might argue this is the human condition.  David is just jealous.  He gets his body torn in half by the maker.  Not his maker of course.  He’s just a slave to the Weyland corporation.  And later in the movie, the main tool for humanity to finally confront it’s maker.  I like the idea the main character is faced with a choice after losing everything.  Go back to earth and wait for the inevitable or head out into the unknown and face the truth.  The sacrifices are immense and the unknown just as expansive.  Just like the last couple of decades of my life.  I could go back.  Back to the workforce and fit into a tiny expectation of what my true potential is.  But nobody cares to know my name for the most part.  It does all hurt.  Sometimes it hurts all too well.  And it’s a familiar kind of hurt that is almost boring to me.  Pain for the most part and suffering largely don’t excite me very much any more.  I’m over it.  It doesn’t mean I’m beyond it.  A bass guitar literally came crashing down on my head the other day.  I’m over that as well.  It hurts more to settle with not being happy.  It hurts to be ignored.  To interpret the awkwardness of society not being able to meet you eye to eye as some sort of sleight or punishment.  The trick to breaking through people’s barriers are removing them in yourself.  What holds you back?  What overwhelms you deeply when you experience the mere hint of pain?  What keeps you from loving a person freely and what holds you back from opening your arms?  I don’t make those judgements for other people.  That’s love.  You wait and you are patient because you are free and open.  You don’t mind that it hurts.  To care about someone or something without any guarantee or expectation that they think about you at all.  The lack of validation does hurt.  It requires you to find the confidence to know that you matter.  And sometimes we overshoot this especially when our internal life isn’t in balance.  We over speculate or underestimate our value all the time.  We get ahead of ourselves or fall behind.  There is no pacing.  No self control.  The zen is somewhere in the middle through trial and error.  The trick is we feel pain and we work our way through it.  Just like I wake up sore as fuck from whatever exercise routines I keep up daily living in total isolation.  Being alone does hurt.  Having no real solid connections with people in real life sucks.  But once you get over that, you start to see the world a little differently.  It’s not about you.  It’s about the perception.  How did you do that trick?  Get your life completely fucked over time and time again and still be so cool about everything.  That’s the trick.  I’m cool as fuck.  And it hurts just as much to stay cool all these years.
It hurts less not to have to revisit the same failed ways and history.  It’s a lot easier to pay my rent no questions asked.  I can generate income doing things I like to do.  I can work as much as I want and see the results.  I can still look for a job to work for someone for less than what I’m worth as a tax write off.  I can wait six months and get vaccinated and be worth five times as much globally.  I can still participate in professional discussions and hope that if everyone ignores me the AI will eventually set me aside like Roko’s Basilisk.  And I can just keep making cautious decisions with my own investments and see where that leads.  I can be ignored year after year and feel like nobody wants me.  And then I can realize that every beautiful person I know still thinks the world of what I go through daily.  You see if you could look into my heart and see the emotion I feel after all of this, you’d break down and cry.  It’s horrendous.  I have been through literal shit.  And yet, everyone else has their soapbox.  It seems everyone’s problems are more important.  I’ve stopped trying to sell my victimhood.  It’s not a great look if you are sitting in a position of privilege.  Which to be honest, I’m not exactly living the same life of privilege as the entire professional network that pretends I died or became a spy.  The truth is I am in levels of pain nobody would ever survive.  What the world is asking of me isn’t something anyone would willfully put themselves through.  And then there’s the trick that I perform effortlessly.  How I show I care about someone without ever saying a word?  How it echoes through the net and the streets like a pulse instead of a shout.  How I never really know anything and yet I know we connect.  It’s painful to see the trick everyday expand in front of my eyes.  How I survive with little help but my own.  How people use me as a talking point and leave my name out of the equation.  How I feel like a fucking ghost and the quote echoes in my head like the memories of people that inspired me to even write here in the first place.  How nobody says anything remotely of emotional weight in reality.  How everything is just a punchline and joke to the horror nobody wants to face.  It hurts horribly to know the truth.  That it’s worse to get it half right.  To perform the trick but lose the magic.  To tell and not show.  To talk and not walk it.  To be the person who isn’t me constantly comparing themselves to someone they’ll never be.  To be on trial for the crimes of humanity and stranded just the same.  To move forward with little or no fanfare while the lies around you fall apart.  I pay my rent just the same.  I keep the faith with my friends without a word.  And I love you with no baggage other than that Jaguar rolling suitcase I picked up the other day.  Big fan of Pete Buttigieg becoming transportation secretary for the record.  I heard him say that airports are the most romantic places in the universe.  Different strokes for different folks.  Either way get used to seeing me at O’hare.  We can kiss and ride the train to my office all you want when the world comes together.  Just tell Pete to mind his own business.  Better than Rahm by a fucking lightyear.  <3 Tim

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I feel like 2020 has scoured me from the inside out. I swear this year is at least a thousand years as experienced. The person who started this year was tired, a little down. My rights being caught in the maw of a very bad contract and the company not deigning to respond to my requests for reversal were part of it. The rest was the toll of 10+ years of severe illness. You can fix it, and I’d been fixing it for the last three or four, but the scars remain. In my mid to late fifties I’m not as flexible and do not heal as fast. And I was tired.
Which of course is why looking back I smile at the earnest naivete of that summer child. Because since then I’ve seen my country put under house arrest, its citizens stripped of the rights that were the very reason of the founding. I’ve seen dubiously elected governors and mayors clamp down on the citizens who pay taxes, while freeing the criminals and letting the ferals run rampant. I’ve seen the deliberate destruction of the best nation on Earth, mankinds last and best hope.
And our internal traitors, knowing and unknowing (a lot of them are just being mean girls because it’s fun and it’s always worked before. The same with virtue signaling. And many are doing it because they’re afraid) have turned the right into painted devils, while unleashing destruction on us.
Even if our courts — snort — and our judges — snort giggle — manage to find a shred of non-corruption, we are what is technically known as “fucked.” Because the media is busily convincing our dunderheads and assholes that Trump is a dictator, who will take power by force, which this win will “sort of kind of” give the appearance of, while in fact their steal is the real grab, combined with destroying our elections forever.
The enemy is within the walls, and worse, it is in a position of command.
But it puts us in a pickle, because our mentally deficient would-be elites will destroy us without even realizing they’re doing it, and will do anything to keep the fact they’re massively corrupt and hypocritical hidden.
That’s what they have on all the tech lords, and btw, I suspect it’s why they hate Trump so much. His peccadilloes are banal and almost endearing compared to the raw moral sewage of the Bidens, the Obamas, the Clintons, and let’s not even think of what Harris has in her closet, if what’s known is that she climbed up in the world by sucking cock. So he didn’t fall into the trap. Which means the entrapped ones hate him even more.
But even with the BEST intent in the world, and if they weren’t in China’s pay and employ (they are) these people would kill us all, because they have no idea how the western economy works, or how free people work.
I’m not actually making this up, please believe me, I’m as serious as I can be: They will start with an engineered famine, but they have no clue how any of this works, and before they are done, people will die for other reasons and of other things or what makes this country live and thrive. If they get full control, within two years, I suspect more than half of America will be dead. Mind you, they might not manage it. None of their plans work as planned, because they’re not good at people and specifically they’re not food at America. But the unintentional destruction — though in spots — will be at least as bad as the intentional.
So we need to fight back. More specifically, I need to fight back.
Look, guys, I know this makes no sense whatsoever, and is not objectively true, but I’m broken in very specific ways. One of those is that in this type of situation I feel guilty for it having happened at all, like I should have prevented it. And I feel responsible for protecting everyone in its path. Which is …. on its face insane.
I bet a lot of you, by nature or training sheep dogs are feeling the same. We know what we are. We’re not good people. Frankly, we’d rather eat the flock, and be muzzle-deep in blood.
But we or something in us knows better. Something in us chose to harness the predator to defend the flock. It’s our flock. And though the predator still howls for blood, it’s wolf blood.
And we’ve been tearing ourselves apart since the lockdown happened, because we sensed the wolves rounding in that move. We sensed the threat to the flock. But we had no idea how to fix it, how to protect “ours.”
When we think about it, we think in terms of the fourth box. Because we’re Americans, and we have the power.
But the fourth box is not the only box. And if used, it catapults us into a completely different world. More importantly, it’s not up to any of us to start. It will start — or not — at some point, at some flare instance. What I’m afraid of is that those are being “spiked” somehow.
And the sheepdogs are going crazy. The smell the wolf and they can do nothing.
I woke up this morning thinking of Poland. When they’d had enough, the communists were brought down with a general strike.
Um…. Sure. UNTOLD damage and pain. But guys, less than where we’re headed with or without the fourth box.
To work it would need to be like the tea party. I don’t know how to do that. But I know some people reached by this do. They were part of and instrumental in the tea party.
And as horrible as a general strike is, it’s better than slavery to China, or CWII and better than the utter destruction of our republic and its institutions. If done, it should be done for two things “A stop on the infringement on our constitutional liberties, no matter if in the name of a virus. And a new election, free and fair. One day, purple fingers, in person, with ID. AND the ballots counted in front of everyone who desires to attend. By hand. No shenanigans.”
And in that spirit, there’s things you each can do to turn this around. They’re smaller, they take a long time, and each of you will have very little impact. Some of you will recoil from them, because they imply fighting in our own circle, and some of you will scream “we become like them.” No. We do not. This is defensive. Shooting at those who are shooting at you is not “you become like them.” It’s defensive. This is the same. If we don’t do this, they WILL win, because they’re attacking and we’re not defending.
Will it tarnish your soul? Likely. All war does, whether lethal or not. But we didn’t choose this. We’re under attack from an enemy without who has activated an enemy within. And we have to win this. We have to win it for us, for the free men and women in the world. Or we all live under the boot of China, who make Nazi Germany seem cuddly and gentle (Note to the inevitable idiots: and yes, they were pretty horrible monsters.)
So, operation Swamp Fox (a) because an American Hero b) because we’re fighting the swamp).
I’m going to give you the basics. You’re my people. you’ll improvise, innovate and imagine new ways to make things work, ways I never even thought about. So the basic maneuvers (and you’ll need to dislocate your mind a little to do some of them.)
1- Tit for tat Many of you work embedded in the liberal world. You know what these people think of us, and how they behave if they have a chance to get back at us, including a million little acts of sabotage and defiance. Well? Tit for tat. If there’s a way you can make the life of your liberal co-worker a living hell, sabotage their career, make them feel incompetent? Start now. IF you can do it without it coming back on you, do it. And do it as hard and as often as you can. “But they’re a good person” you’ll say. Oh, are they? What would they do to YOU if they knew your politics and had the chance? That’s all we’re asking for. Tit for tat. What this will do: make the organization shakier; make the leftists anywhere come across as putzes (they sabotage, belittle, etc. any out conservative which is how they’ve managed to project that “conservatives are not very smart or creative.” This is JUST pay back.); put them on edge so they make mistakes, and make themselves seem less competent. If we have to do this for four years it’s going to hurt like a mother, but we’ll make sure it hurts them more.
2- Be the Uber Karen What is that I hear? Oh, yes. You see…. Karens don’t follow their own rules very well. Have you considered walking up to the mask police and LOUDLY telling them they’re wearing their mask wrong? Same with ANY liberal you know to be so in public. MAKE them live by their rules. While you’re at it, make them live by ALL their rules. They’re writing a letter? Well, using paper is Chinese appropriation! They’re doing/wearing something sourced to another continent? Come down on them like a ton of bricks on the flimsiest excuse. They drive a car? Oh, dear. What about global warming? They have kids? But the OVERPOPULATION! Chase them around and preach their own gospel at them at the most inconvenient and bizarre times. Publicly. Loudly. What this does: the stupider ones will crack. The brighter ones might end up red pilled. 3- Bangs arm on chest “He’s OUR leader.” Go on and on about the wonderfulness of your local petty tyrant, and how they totally deserve to get the best. And how great was it — tee-he — that the election was rigged, uh? Those votes just pulled from under the table in Atlanta! (Eyes wide with admiration) There’s even video! How great is it that now our great leaders will have power forever? Notice Obama is in charge again? That’s what I mean. Isn’t it wonderful? Look at all the HEALING he managed in his time. Etc. Be as fullsome as you can. What it does: those with a shred of humanity will revolt inside and eventually it will bring them around. This works best if you are under deep cover. Seriously. They won’t know what hit them.
4- Be the ditsy aunt
This also only works if you’re deep under cover, but find all the things they don’t want the rank and file to know, and say them, with the deepest and greatest possible approval. Hunter Biden’s laptop? “Well, of course it’s true, but the media was so right in covering it up. The poor poor boy. Very difficult, all those addictions, and of course Joe took what payments he could from where he could. The poor boy needed help.” “China is so wonderful. They control their population. Oh, sure they have camps, but really, if they need to reduce population, how else to do it?”
5- NOT ONE red cent I confess my dad is responsible for this. When he turned eighty and retired he announced “My life is too short to read communists.” This one is the one that will hurt most of us. We have gotten used to consuming entertainment from the assholes. Because for a while it was all you could get. It’s time to cut back. And I feel like a total hypocrite saying this, because I read from Amazon and sell on Amazon. But I’m not saying to do it in everything, only where you have a choice. If you have a choice of whom to do business with, do it with people you know to be conservatives. Grow our own. The reason we don’t have money on the right is that asymmetrical economic warfare has been waged on our people for decades. It’s time to return fire. If you have a chance, buy from your own, and give breaks to your own. One easy thing you can do, on Amazon even, is read your own, and as much as you can avoid things from China. Starve the beast.
6- Make connections. Find the other conservatives in your circles. Make connections. This might be needed in the future. In fact, it will probably be. I don’t need to explain how or why, right?
7- Make them live up to their claimed ideals. This can be used even if the liberal is your nearest and dearest. You might think it makes no difference but a comment like “How very Hitlerian of you!” when they talk about punishing political opponents or how some people are inherently bad from birth can fester and eventually bring about a crisis of conscience. And hell, it’s worth a try.
Now go and make with it. And spread the idea to anyone you can trust. The effect of one of us doing it is minimal (though often satisfying, particularly tit for tat) but the effect of all of us doing it, much less anyone else, will be noticeable and leave a mark. And maybe weaken their position until those bigger than us take action.

Travelogue: Astana - Day the Best (Part 2)
To be fair, this wasn’t travel for travel’s sake, but rather a press tour covering the World Expo 2017 in Astana. You’ve been warned.
Tumblr media
The second day of the tour went much more smoothlier, as the organizers kept a tighter leash on the group. We arrived to the Expo only to wade into the crowd trying to enter. Our status as journalists meant nothing, and the lady leading our group did not offer to wait by the gate to expedite our entry; she got inside and vanished.
Tumblr media
We eventually squeezed through the gate, where we were split up and assigned interpreters to help us. I got a pair of Kazakh ladies who had already visited many of the pavilions and were very helpful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Expo organizers had given us a schedule of national pavilion openings, but only about half of them actually followed the schedule. Good job, Poland and Vatican.
Tumblr media
Shame, USA.
Okay, let's talk shit about my shity country and their lazy pavilion. It's an unnecessarily large pavilion comprised of three parts. The introduction hall is sparse, with some pictures hanging on the mono-blue walls and a black stage. (No cameras!) Above the stage, a video by Ambassador George Krol welcomes you to the show. Then, you move into a small theater with three screens and a laser grid show reminiscent of an 80s computer game. The video they show is a combination of stock footage, better suited to commercials for allergy medication and Chevrolet trucks, and has nothing to do with renewable energy. There's also interpretive dance shown Lady America and Mr. Kazakhstan angrily air fucking. The video elicited claps from the audience, but I have no idea why. The third part of the Pavilion is a model showing various technologies for renewable energy. It makes a third graders diorama on wind turbines look like shit.
Tumblr media
The pavilion's corporate sponsors include ExxonMobil, GE, and Citi--all names you trust when it comes to responsible management of our natural resources. Also, the logo is Obama's. Jesus Christ, America, get your head in the game.
Tumblr media
Not that there weren't lazier pavilions. The Caribbean Hall was basically just promotion of tourism to lots of beautiful islands that won't exist in 100 years due to rising seas and furious hurricanes. It's good to know their governments have their heads in the right places.
Finland's exhibition was awesome. The pavilion was designed like an Arctic cave with uneven white floors, walls and ceilings.  You can read more about this pavilion as well as some other stuff at Daily Finland.
Tumblr media
Lunch was a buffet, and it had so many good options. I overloaded, since breakfast was spicy shaved carrots and I was uncertain how dinner would unfold. I explored a bit more and then obeyed the schedule by attending a boring press conference. Hey, at least I was allowed inside the room with an important person this time!
Tumblr media
I actually wanted to sit out the rest of the day and wait for dinner in peace. The media center was pretty barren, so I had planned to kick off my shoes and let my junebug blister breathe. My shoes smelled like something had died in them. But one of our hosts (or guides or interpreters or Expo organizers, I’m not sure. There were so freakin’ many of them, and I had no idea who was who or why they were there helping us.) What was I ... oh, yeah. One of our guides dragged me and a couple other suckers to some more pavilions.
First up was the poorly named Best Practices Area pavilion. The basic idea was real modern technologies either already being used or being researched that helped alleviate the energy problem. There was a Smart Rail, an electric formula racecar, and some other genuinely interesting tech.
Tumblr media
Following the Best Practices Area, we visited the contemporary art exhibition, which I had looked forward to (and had also paradoxically completely forgotten about.) The exhibits came from an art workshop in Moscow and from a museum or some such in France. The Moscovian art seemed cemented in Kazakhstan (not energy), and the French stuff was just technology-related. Overall, though, it was awesome. I enjoyed virtually every exhibit there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These webcams were looking at the still-life objects and drawing them out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This art was drawn by little robots with markets. Basically, if your Roomba sucks up a bunch of crayons.
Tumblr media
These columns are made up of thousands of sheets of laser-cut papers and stacked by hand. The artist was there (because of the opening of the Expo), and he told us that he still hadn’t figured out a good way not to have to stack a hundred thousand pieces of paper to make a bunch of columns.
Tumblr media
Dinner was hosted by the director of the Expo (though I don't think he actually attended, however that works) at the Rixan Hotel, and it was the nicest hotel I've ever been inside. Luxurious. The food on offer was another buffet, less veg-friendly than lunch, but it did include one horse dish. Score! My blister was killing me, and this meal was in a standing room. I would have happily drank myself stupid, but I still had to finish the Day 2 article. God damn responsibilities.
Stick around. Day the Last (Part 3) is on the way.

Krakow!
I have SO many photos to post and I want to get this out while I have a moment, so I’ll type this up with photos to come!
We landed safely in Krakow yesterday (how was it only yesterday??) around 10:30am. The flight from Boston to Frankfurt wasn’t bad at all. I was in the middle seat, which sucks, but I was between a friend of mine and my professor so at least I wasn’t with strangers like most of the class. I watched Maggie’s Plan, which I highly recommend, and then tried to sleep. It only worked for a few hours, so I was pretty tired during our 3-hour layover and on the last 90 minute flight into Krakow.
They didn’t give us a moment to rest! We had maybe 40 minutes when we got back to the hotel to clean up, and then we went on an unofficial walking tour with the head of our program in Krakow. It’s a beautiful, beautiful city, and we are right off of the main market square in Old Town. After taking us to lunch at a “milk bar” (info on those here), he took us through the Jewish District, past the Kantor Museum, and to Schindler’s Factory. We were all tired by then, including our museum guide, so I maybe didn’t get as much out of it as I would have otherwise, but it was still amazing and moving.
They sent us to a show at the Stary Theatre, which was very good! Except… we were all so tired and jet lagged at that point we all had a very, very hard time staying awake/alert. It was still a great introduction to Polish theatre. Despite there being no subtitles, the acting was very physical and some moments transcended language altogether. At least one of the actors (possibly more? I have to check) will be our teachers later this week.
We got back to the hotel, and I had a glass of wine and promptly passed out.
This morning, I tried to get up and go for a run, but I’d never run outside before–and in 30 degree weather, it wasn’t a great time to try. I made it about a mile and a half, and then walked back. The only benefit was getting to look at some beautiful buildings–a trail runs along where the old city wall used to be.
I debated missing the optional walking tour to get some work done, but I’m so glad I decided to go. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and it was great learning about Poland’s (pretty damn fascinating) history from a Polish perspective.
My friends and I had lunch at a place called Chimera, where I had a large plate of the most AMAZING vegetable dishes for about $5 US dollars. (The exchange rate here? INSANE. The class of wine I’m drinking at the hotel bar right now was $2.50.) After the heavy Polish food yesterday, it was nice to try something local but still healthy!
This afternoon, we went to two theatres for tours. First was the Stary Theatre, where we saw the show the previous night, and the other was the Słowacki Theatre. Pictures to come, because both were amazing! The Stary Theatre also had this amazing interactive museum, where you could explore each part of the process of creating a show. Definitely a must for anyone interested in theatre.
Now I’m enjoying my $5 (!!!!) carafe of wine while I wait for some others who are going out tonight. Tomorrow we start classes, which are mostly with the actors, and then the dramaturgs are seeing King Lear at the Stary Theatre. We are considering asking to miss acting class one day to make it back to the Kantor Museum (and actually go inside!), and I’ve also been told the salt mines are amazing. Plus there is the market right near us to explore–touristy, yes, but still neat.
This is a beautiful city. Admittedly, the language barrier is frustrating (a lot of people speak English, but I hate not knowing the language at all, and it doesn’t seem to want to stick in my brain). But I think I’d really like to come back here one day. I know I’m here for school, but having class 8 hours a day and then a show means less time for exploring!
Ok, sorting these pictures, so expect an onslaught of photos soon!
(PS–trying to format this with HTML, so if the milk bar link doesn’t work, here it is: http://culture.pl/en/article/milk-bars-a-taste-of-poland)

What to do when switching car insurance?
"What to do when switching car insurance?
I am planning on switching car insurance providers b/c: 1.) My car got stolen 01/25/2013 and I only had liability coverage (car was a 1996 Nissan Maxima) 2.) I was hit in October 2012 and it was not my fault and received settlement money b/c my car was deemed a total loss 3.) With that money I put a down payment on a used car this past weekend b/c now I truly had no car 4.) I now need full coverage to my current policy and replace the old car with the newer one but the 6-month premium is too high. While shopping around for car insurance, I found an auto quote that was A LOT more affordable than if I were to stick with my current insurance. With that being said, I had a lot of questions. I got into a car accident in May 2012 and it was my fault. No one was hurt and no air bags deployed. My insurance paid the damages. Now, if I cancel my policy with them, does that mean that I have to pay the insurance company back the money for the damages they covered to the other car? My other question is how much information do I disclose when applying for a new auto policy? I have of course included the at-fault accident in May and I also included the accident that was not my fault. Before these 2 accidents, I had one just one that was in a parking lot. The other driver and I were deemed both at fault, 50/50. Damage to his car was around $700. That was 3 years ago. The insurance company I was looking into said online to include accidents that were at least 51% your fault and accidents that weren't your fault too. Do I include this accident too even tho it was 50/50? My last question is about speeding and points. I my first speeding ticket in June 2012. I got a reduced fine and went to traffic school so it wouldn't show up and get a point. Once again, while looking at auto quotes, they asked if I had a moving violation which includes speeding. Because I went to traffic school and everything, do I tell them about that too? Despite the bad luck I've had this past year with my driving record, I only have one point. The 50/50 accident will be off because it's the 3rd year. I live in CA and got this info from the DMV website: The length of time depends on the severity of the offense. Most points (illegal turn, not making a complete stop, driving over the speed limit, etc.) and/or accidents will stay on your driver record for 36 months (3 years). I've included the link: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/teenweb/more_btn6/points/points.htm Any advice and suggestions is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I now need full coverage to my current policy and replace the old car with the newer one but the 6-month premium is too high. Car insurance is abnormally expensive for me (18yrs old)? What am I doing wrong?
I go on gocompare, confuse.com, comparethemarket, etc. to check prices of different cars but I keep getting insurance at the price of 7,000+?! And the crazy thing is, it was for a Peugeot 2002 106 which is like 1.1 litre. which came to the lowest I found. Which was 7,000+. I fill in the details truthfully, such as locked home garage, very low miles per year, etc, but I can't seem to get cheap insurance? Everyone online says they get insured for around 2,000 on a Corsa, Peugeot 106, Citroen C1 and on like 1.4L+ cars etc. HOW TO HELL? Should I just buy my 1st car then insure it on my parents name then ask me to be put on as a named driver? My friends do that and pay around 1,000-1,200 on 1.6L cars.. Also, can you recommend me a good 1st car? (England) Thanks!""

What is the difference between comprehensive and third party car insurance and which one is more beneficial?
What is the difference between comprehensive and third party car insurance and which one is better. I have a 2005 wagon r lxi and wants to renew the insurance which one should i opt for.?
(Australia) What is the normal procedure for a car accident without insurance?
I hit a car(Honda) 1 month ago, I was at fault. I don't have third party damage insurance on my car. For the other car, they have comprehensive. Recently, Honda's insurance company contacted me and told me to pay for the damages(the quote is $10,000). They haven't sent me the invoice yet. At the same time, Smash repair also contacted me regarding the damages(same quote, but can be cheaper if i pay cash to them immediately). Car owner also contact me saying that I have to pay Smash repair directly. My question is: If Honda's insurance company is invloved in this incident, should I deal with the insurance company direclty and ignore both of the car owner and smash repair? I will pay for the damages, just want to make sure it goes to the right person, and no more trouble(no double claim) in the future.""
Do home/auto insurance companies play favorites with their customers when they pay out claims? ?
This is probably going to come off as a little dumb, but I can't think of another way to phrase it. I'm 25 y/o, a new homeowner, and I already have filed a homeowners claim for water damage. I have had the easiest time in the world with my insurance company paying for repairs, and it actually really suprised me how easy it was. After I filed the claim, I looked around online, and I saw where people were having nightmare problems with their insurance company for the same type of damage I'm claiming. My parents have been with this insurance company for 25+ years. The policy is mine alone, but I have the same agent that they have. I've also been on my parents' car insurance since I turned 16. My parents and I have all been pretty-much accident/claim free, and they always pay their bills on time. Here's my question. When this insurance company was analyzing my claim, did they take into account my parents' longterm business, or are they considering me independent from my parents? I'm asking, because I've heard of companies that drop their clients after one water-damage claim, and I'm a little worried they'll drop me""

Do I need a consent to settle by my own auto insurance company?
The guy who hit me does not have an ample amount of insurance to cover my injuries. They are offering me the policy limits to settle. My own uninsured or uninsured motorist has been given enough documentation to know that my additional insurance will come into play. I have filed suit against the guy and his insurance company, but do I need a letter of consent to settle with them from my own insurance company to make sure that my uninsured motorist coverage will still be available to me. I really think it is criminal for any insurance company or state to make the limits on auto insurance so low, when the average cost of an auto accident is higher than the minimum coverages that they allow drivers to driver under. Also, there are many attorneys that wont even look at taking a case unless the limits are much higher than state minimum, because they can make considerably more on those who are very well insured. My own insurance company is treating my like I am retarded, and I was until I started reading all the insurance laws and bought a very fine civil litigation book for 4 dollars, best investment I ever made. But I am no Pro Se expert, my hat is tipped to you attorneys and insurance adjusters. What a stressful job you have and so many laws to abide by and to follow. I can only get better the more I read the more I know. Thanks for your time.""

How to win the claim case from the other car insurance company?
ok. So few days ago, I got into a car accident. I was driving down the highway simply just going straight. All of a sudden, this SUV crashed into me from my left lane and knocked off my side-view mirror & left some marks on my left front door. At that time of the being, I was so shocked because all I did was just go straight & I guess the car next to mine was trying to make a lane change but he wasn't fast enough to advance me. so instead, he bumped into me and realized what he's done then went back to his lane. after the accident, we both exited out from the highway & parked our cars on the side road because that's where the other car led me. I was driving alone at that time & I was so scared because it was my first time getting into this kind of an accident. I quickly tried calling 911 & told the 911 lady to send me a police. But she just asked if there was any injury & I said no then she just told me to exchange the insurance. How rude of her. Not to be mean, but I was little scared of the mexicans b/c the area I was in at the moment was really ghetto. so then I took some photos of the damages and exchanged the insurance company. The guy kept telling me in bad English that he was ahead of me so it's my fault. and I told him that I didn't even move & he was the one changed the lane without even checking to see if it was clear. but he couldn't really speak english well or he didn't even want to listen to me. so I left like that with my sideview mirror dangling next to me. *sigh* this isn't the end of the story yet. I claimed his insurance company which ive never heard of. They said that he's telling them I was the one who hit their car. which made NO SENSE. I even have a picture of their car bumper's mark on my side of the car door which proves that there's no way I hit their car and left a mark on mine and broke my own side view mirror and left THEM no damages. His car was clear with one inch scratch on the side which was made when he hit my car after bumping into me with his bumper and quickly turning back into his own lane. I can't even believe how he can lie about this kind of stuff. I feel so mad that there're ppl like him existing!!! It's so frustrating to see the liar defending himself. His Insurance company didn't even try to look at my car & told me that they are sorry & they can not help me b/c their customer said he didn't do it. What should I do in this situation? I have no witness, there wasn't any police there at the time because they wouldn't send me any which is SO WRONG of them to do. I want to sue 911 people. grr. How can I possibly prove them that I have no faults and they should repair my damn side view mirror?!?!?! What can I do?""

Am I screwed? Two years ago I was approached by my auto insurance company.?
I was told that if I added my home owners insurance to their company that I would save a bundle on both the auto and the homeowner policy. At the time, I had the same homeowner company for over 25 years and was happy with my policy but they looked at the policy and said they could offer me the same coverage at the same price. So, of course, I switched and admittedly never looked at the policy until I had a recent claim. Now, I find that the policy that I was switched to was NOT the same coverage I had at...not even close. I now have a 1% deductible instead of $500 and I also now have actual value instead of replacement cost coverage. Needless to say, I'm angry and feel I have no recourse since I admit I didn't read over the policy...I trusted the agent , since I had my car insurance with them for over 30 years. Lol I ain't exactly rich lol. First ill buy a older rubbish car to get my confidence up with driving, then try to go for this car, its my dream car tbh, i find it beautiful. Im gonna name it Phoenix. lol. i am sad. But i was just wondering about it.. if you have any other advice about insurance, such as, what would make it cheaper ( year the car was made, door numbers etc) or what cars li should buy first.. i would appreciate it highly. Insurance and Totaling a car?
Hello, I was recently a victim of a hit and run on a brand new 07 car. The back was smashed and the right back tire was sideways. The insurance company had me bring it to one of their authorized body shops. After 9k worth of damage, I received the car back. I was told the insurance adjusters told the shop not to replace certain parts etc. When I received the car, I brought it to the dealer to get it a wheel alignment. The mechanic came back and said the car could not be aligned and there was still major damage (subframe was bent - I could even see it). He also stated that the car will never drive the same after the accident even if the subframe is replaced and it would pull to one side and cause wear on the tires. Do I have the right to demand the car totalled from the insurance company? The car was 3 months old before the accident and I would want it in the same condition that I got it in. Thanks PS car was hit in NJ - insurance in NY""
Auto Insurance Claim.?
hi, i just got into a collision and it was my fault. the damages were minimal i know i am a auto body man myself. the other vehicle will be needing a bumper and right headlight +paint material+work hours (hourly rates vary by shop 25.-35.). i know my insurance will go up due to this collision but, i was planning on fileing a claim on sandblast on my truck i live here in the desert side of california and the free ways here can sometimes be very bad. i had painted my truck at my own shop about 7 months back my truck came out clean but, now its just sad there is little sand pits all over the front end not to mention the sides. Even after being in this collision, will i still be coverd for a sandblast claim?""

How to get Public Liability Insurance?
Hi, so my friends and I are having a party in a month and we're considering holding it at a local school hall. I called the person in charge of organizing the hall hire and they said that I need public liability insurance to hire it out for the night. AAA insurance will only pay body shop?
Hi there, My mom was rear ended by an uninsured motorist while driving my car. I have uninsured motorist coverage and AAA estimated the damage to be approximately $1000. I own my car (it's paid off) and I would rather buy the bumper and someone I know replace the bumper, rather than go to the body shop of AAA's choice. AAA does not want to give me a check and is saying they want to pay a body shop to do it. Can they do this? I looked at my policy and it doesn't say anywhere that repair costs are to be paid to a body shop, rather than the car owner or driver. I certainly don't have anything signed that says that and there is nothing in my policy details. Thanks for your help!""
How much car insurance could I expect to pay?
I'm 35, clean licence since I was 18 but never owned my own car. I'm thinking of getting a BMW 3 series, 2 or 3 doors, no more than 2 l, live in a safe area of Sheffield. Could anyone give me a ball park figure?""
What to do when switching car insurance?
Thanks!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Haven't talked much here lately. Hello!
So, not much has really been going on. I forget if I voiced my satisfaction in the swap that got us all (me, Jordan, Jack) on the same tribe, but whether I did or not, I'm still loving that. We're total challenge beasts over here (even if I do have to sit out and may end up not giving too much effort because of being busy), and we should be set to win this round's immunity challenge. And hopefully we do, because despite having a 3/5 majority on our tribe between me, Jordan, and Jack, I don't want to end up voting out Nicholas or Rhone.
Tumblr media
I love Charlotte, LA, and JD. I don’t have any tea but this is an update
Tumblr media
Argh So close to winning the reward. Oh well it's the immunity that matters. I still love our tribe everyone is friendly and we are get on really well together that I don't want us to lose. It was the best tribe I could have ended up on considering I should have gone home ages ago!
Tumblr media
Hello friendos, I'm flying to Gdansk, Poland today! Wooo!
My awesome tribe let me sit out the Neopets challenge, thank you <3
I hope we don't get in a situation where we have to go to tribal council, but hey: if it happens, it happens. I still feel very safe, but hey: if I get voted out, I get voted out.
I shared a potential Idol location with Em. If she keeps playing like she does, she'll be a bigger target than me.
I was lucky at the Infection game, but Madeline from OG Hippos won, and I wonder what she ended up receiving as a reward...
We'll see! I just hope that Jack isn't mad at me ;)
Tumblr media
I don’t know how long I gotta be immune to break the record for longest time immune but um. I’m going to beat it that’s my goal this season.
Tumblr media
Oh also... I don’t know if I addressed this already but I did not find the idol and I was escorted away by the guards #it is lit lol
Tumblr media
Hi, my name is Emily, I'm seventeen, and I never fuckin learned how to read.
Tumblr media
I swear! Give me a non-flash game and I can do #that but A FLASH GAME? I'm so helpless. I hate this so much and I really feel like I'm bringing my tribe down! I'm sorry men lips please don't hate me I'm trying my absolute hardest
Tumblr media
Jaiden got his boot because he was a sneaky snakey snek. I talked about keeping the tribe strong on multiple occasions, he took it as I wanted to remove Toph because of a low score. False, Jaiden was a detriment for this whole tribe, moving forward in the game if we were all to make it to the individual portion of this game, Jaiden would be a detriment to not only me, but Madeline, Toph and Billy. Jaiden was playing an individual game from the beginning, homie, premerge portion of the game your tribe is your team. "Big moves" mean nothing to jurors if they are done premerge. Jurors don't care about premerge because everyone on the jury made it past premerge. No need to be an over the top villain early on.
Tumblr media
Me submitting that score: well... I hope that the hippos sucks a little more than I do.
*Sharpay and Ryan Evans voice* Flop to the top!!!
Tumblr media
The mood at camp is decent. Voting out Raymond was unfortunately the right choice (I still really like the guy, personally). I think the only person I just don't gel with is Jack and frankly, I want him out if we end up going to tribal before the merge. He's unbelievably good at challenges and neither of us have really tried to connect with each other on anything personal. The thing is Jordan feels like we can use Jack and I'm just kind of rolling my eyes because of course however Jordan feels is what we're gonna do...I knew I would feel this way if I ended up working with Jordan and I'm not surprised. Luckily, I think if/when the time comes after the merge I'll be able to gather up some troops to flip on Jordan. I wouldn't ask Lily bc I know she's super tight with Jordan, but I feel like Emily would go against him (they have history from Normandy) and I imagine others would too. Since Menalippe hasn't gone to tribal I have a feeling there will be cracks in their group which I can exploit, so that could be fun.
Overall I really do like this tribe though and I'm having more fun out here than I have in other Survivor games I've played. It's the power of feminism, y'all.
Tumblr media
I'm continually really glad I have Ian in this game because I'M TIRED OF BEING LET DOWN. Toph, I just...... you can't pull something like that when WE'RE STRUGGLING. If you really send in nothing there's no way I can not vote for you.
Tumblr media
I really wish Jaiden hadn't gone behind the back of the alliance. It put us in between a rock and a hard place but voting him out had to happen so Ian and I would stay safe. Now we're just dealing with the aftermath of an unenthused team now. CAN IT BE MERGE ALREADY?
Tumblr media
So much for trying to get that longest immune record
Tumblr media
hi im so dunrk im so dad
Tumblr media
okay so y'all saw all my strategy talk last night so thats that
now I'm on a tribe of 3 menalippe and 4 others. I already have a nice connection with Madeline, too.
Immediately, I'm worried about my connection with Rhone, solely bc they know how nutso I can get in games, and they know that I do have the capability to get to the end. But. We've worked together before, and I can show them that my game has changed. We will see.
Nicholas... we'll see. I know he's good at comps, so that's something, but he can tend to be... gone?
Lastly is Toph. He's made finals before, and he improved his game immensely from his previous times, and that makes him dangerous. However, we are friends. However however, I know he's worked with Nicholas before. Red flag.

Eurovision Semis #1
a.k.a. Aria’s running commentary.
Intro:
Mel, I don’t know how you’ve kept getting these assignments, but please don’t stop. I know GBBO isn’t around anymore, but please don’t leave just because you are now our default entertainment presenter.
Ukranian rap/hip-hop artist? Eyesore? I’m confused.
Okay so top of head braid ponytails are a thing now? Is this a trend I’ve missed out on.
Who are these three guys? I don’t think I could pronounce their names if I tried. Having three presenters is weird enough, not having a male-female double act is just wrong. I still think they missed a trick with not bring Verka back. EPIC FAIL UKRAINE.
#eurogenius The term is accepted.
I wonder if they actually speak French, or if he just learned these phrases.
“And the odd horsehead.”
Their smiles are REALLY WIDE.
And we’re off!!!
Sweden:
First act to ever start backstage? I mean sure, why not.
I can’t get over these super 90s suits. The haircuts and the mock turtlenecks. Also his suit is purple? Props for diversity though.
And I just gotta say: didn’t we move past the treadmill performances when OK GO did it like 8 years ago?
WHAT IS WITH THE OKAY SIGN????
I think Sweden is trying to go retro and reclaim their former glory.
Georgia:
I LOVE THIS ALREADY. Her hair. Her cape. Her dress. Red and fog and minor keys. YES.
That eye make is on point. Wink on point.
CAPE IS OFF. THE CAPE IS OFF.
I think she can actually sing...? Or not. She does well until the refrain, so I don’t know.
FIRE FIREFIREFIREFIRE We have our first fire!
I really want to like this song. And I think I do.
OH SHIT, it looks like she stole the UK’s ball graphic.
EPIC END.
“Several key changes and a cloak.” Mel knows whats up.
Australia:
“Which I don’t feel bitter about in any way.” Say it Scott. We all hate them.
OH MY GOD he’s in the graphics in the background. OZ!! I think you figured out how Eurovision works. Sorta. Hot guy who can sorta sing, over-do it on the effects
I am distracted by his lack of socks.
This song needs something more.
MORE FIRE
When I meant more, I didn’t mean riff Issiah, you’re not a strong enough singer for that. So In that, good job Aussies, you put forward an appropriate contender this year. You have learned your place.
“Another sockless man on stage.” MEL KNOWS WHAT’S UP.
Albania:
What’s with all the ballads this year?
Her eyes are so big.
Albania’s feeling like the white, purer version of Georgia.
Wind machine. We have wind.
I’m not sure she can walk in this dress.
Whoa? Did we move from sort of clock to a futuristic floating world? Don’t get it, but sure.
At least this song picked up more than Oz did. But it still needed to drop the beat or something. It just stayed so constant. Meh.
Belgium:
It’s so Mumford and Sons. But wow, the audience is so into it.
I am not entirely sure she’s singing more than 2 notes.
This song is good but your staging sucks.
UGH all of these ballads need to pick it up mid-song. They’re so monotonous. This one in particular.
She should have sung in her head voice the WHOLE TIME.
She seems like a super sweet girl who is maybe a bit overwhelmed.
Montenegro:
YES YES YES SLAVKO
WAIT IT’S DETATCHABLE?!??!?! I am slightly less impressed now.
Nevermind. OMFG I love this entire thing so much already.
This whole thing is so Eurovision.
PANTS PANTS PANTS
Rock it to the stars. Yes let’s do that. These pants need to shining down on us at all times.
This overhead shot of him laying down on his face is amazing.
It’s cheating if you twirl your braid with your hand! THERE WE GO.
I get the feeling this is probably a better to watch on TV than in the audience.
“Absolute quality.” MEL KNOWS WHAT IS UP.
Finland:
This postcard posing is so Finland.
Fog so much fog this year.
First singer who is actually singing and singing to the way their song is written.
I still don’t get this song though... I mean I kinda get it, but the lyrics with the composition doesn’t make sense to me. Also is this a Eurovision song? Maybe?
IS THAT A BURNING PIANO?!??!?! No, just a bit of fog, but I’ll count it.
We’re red and angry now.
I do honestly like this song, and she may be one of the best signers in the competition.
Azerbaijan:
OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS POSING AND LOOK SO AMAZING YES YES YES
Azerbaijan, super props for making up for your rather sucky act last year.
This act is amazing. It is so out there, but it’s also so amazingly perfectly Eurovision? In a way that Germany’s last year was not but tried to be this.
They are committed. Is she seducing a man with a horse head? Are these people actually members of the band, or just prop men? I don’t know but it’s working.
Consistency and thematic integration A++ for Azerbaijan.
“Only at Eurovision.” “We have told Finland their piano is on fire.” CALLED IT.
Portugal:
“That means if you think she’s rubbish tonight you cant even tell him.”
Oh, we have a mini-stage!
What.... what is this?
Don’t get me wrong, I love jazz and lyrical contemporary music. I go to jazz clubs for fun. But I.... what is this? What happened to Eurovision this year?
Okay, but he’s adorable. And I 100% love the audience for getting into it with him.
Is this ballad year though?
“Pure art alert.” True story. I feel like this is Australia 2016 all over again: Portugal came back to win and forgot that this is not an event you send your best artist to.
Whatever, I’ll take it.
Greece:
Ooofffff, harsh entrance girl.
This is traditional Eurovision right here.
I don’t even have anything to say about this act other than it’s a back to basics. Half-naked men, electric upbeats, high notes, dancibility, light shows, some odd staging gimmick.
Yup.
Poland:
VIOLIN
Here’s our quintessential be yourself, be stronger, ballad.
WIND MACHINE
This is very Rise like a Phoenix.
Could she be bound any tighter to get some cleavage out of her though?
Have I won ESC Bingo yet?
UBER WIND
Moldova:
EPIC SAX GUY
Violin and sax and tuxedos.
This song will so get stuck in my head for the next 3 days....
EPIC SAX GUY
This leg move can’t be good for your hips though.
Because I can’t get it the beat out of my head, it’s probably going onto the finals.
Iceland:
Damn girl. You’re postcard is A+++++++++++. Be my friend. “In her spare time, she likes to bathe in unicorn tears.” YESSSSSSSSS
This is like Jessie J meets Madonna meets Gwen Stefani. And I’m kinda of digging it?
Capes are in this year.
Her shoes are AMAZING
Iceland is my lady crush of ESC 2017. It’s official.
I so wish this staging was more epic though.
WAIT WAIT WAIT HERE IT COMES
Laser show, lighting breakdown. Where’s the wind????
Awesome. Yes, more please.
Czech Republic:
Wait, isn’t their country now Czechia or something??
I appreciate this outfit?
CZE is probably winning best use of lighted floor award tonight.
I think this song would have been much better received earlier in the night.
She can sing though. Which is always nice.
Cyprus:
“Lots of sockless behaviour this evening.” MEL KNOWS WHAT IS UP.
This song has promise, despite your ankles showing. But maybe that’s a positive to show off your footwork?
LOOK IT’S RUSSIA’S BLOCKS FROM LAST YEAR!
Camera work is good on this one.
Okay the silhouette thing is cool.
Sorry CZE, Cyrpus just stole your staging award. This whole performance is really well thought out and maybe a bit too good for ESC? I’ll allow it.
Armenia:
Okay, I was going to count Armenia out 20 seconds in, but then the beat picked up and the camera jumped. Good.
This has got to be so much better on TV than in person.
I kinda dig this song. My pole dancing self would totally rock to this.
FIRE
Dancing is good.
Slovenia:
He’s cheeky.
I do like this song, I’ve heard it before. It just get weirds at point. Like maybe there should be the opera guy in here somewhere?
You know, it’s basically like a Josh Groban song.
Latvia:
Group act, bring it!
WHAT IS THIS
Neon. Crazy eyes. Insane hair. I don’t get this outfit. I don’t get this song. I don’t get this staging. Am I missing something?
Oh, well here it is. Maybe this is it.
Nope still don’t get it.
My TV stream is confused by what to do and how to render all these lights and colours. Pixelation central.
I just don’t get it. Is this Georgia all over again for me?
Voting:
These guys are too stiff. Please just stop trying to be funny.
OH MY GOD - bringing it back to the OMFG new scoring rules and how fucking stressful that was. I am so ready for it again this year.
I am still not over the political FU that has happened over this song and over Eurovision. I mean, on the one hand it’s just a song competition, but on the other, shit man, this is why Eurovision has a ban on political songs. That said the Drama has been delectable.
VERKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  YES. Okay, but still. Ukraine fail that this wasn’t your host. I will never forgive you. Yes yes, Jamal’s great, but we really want Verka and laughs. Ukraine you’re not keeping it fun enough.
“Wazitgutenuf.” I swear, I am normally good with accents, but wow, Aleks is taking this to a whole new level of speed and incomprehensibility.
Moldova - duh, of course.
Azerbaijan - I am so glad, I am so down with this whole thing.
Greece - eh, sure, it’s traditional, but I thought others were better.
Sweden - I dunno, this feels like a thank you more than deserved.
Portugal - I am secretly really happy?? He’s adorable.
Poland - nope, sorry, no. You were fine. Iceland was WAY better.
Armenia - okay, sure, but I don’t think you’ll hold up.
Australia - fiiiinnnnnneeeeee.
Cyprus - totes, 100% well deserved.
Belgium - ugggghhhhhhhhhhhh, I want to like this song, but it was as shitty performance.
Montenegro was robbed in that you know this is what Eurovision is about and really he should have gone through on that alone. Ultimately, it wasn’t a strong performance though....
I’m pissed about Iceland. She should have been there.
At least some of the crazy and stupid slow songs didn’t make it.
BRING ON ROUND 2!!!

Original Post: Here Well it has been 1 month following my last post of From 0 to 0.1: the Journey of Bootstrapping a Small E-commerce Plugin to a Scalable Business (Part 1). We have done a lot since our SEO Product Optimizer (SPO) soft launched on the Shopify App Store. I think that the marketing works are not good enough. Here is a short recap of what we have done from 11/1/2017 - 10/2/2017: What's done list: We have changed from a free app (beta) to a formally published app, now charging US$15.99 / month (8 paid users converted at the moment)Simplified the app installation process and an installation tutorial video has been published on YoutubeNew feature: Default Facebook share image, website title, meta description are added on our SEO Product OptimizerLaunched Conversion Report, a professional review service for online storesAn intro video has been produced and published on YoutubeSet up a simple affiliate program for agenciesPaid ad experiment on Facebook from 6/2 - 9/2/2017 (3 days) at ~US$25 / dayPaid ad experiment on Reddit from 4/2 - 9/2/2017 at US$10 for the period Why are we changing from free app to paid app?Since we launched our beta as a free app, we discovered free users are not willing to give us feedback, review, nor read / reply to our email (whether machine / human written). Instead, they will try our app for a while and disappear for a long time. I guess that's similar to my user behavior when I am using the free apps on this Wordpress blog. We can learn very few things from existing users, except that they are increasing their usage on our app (before 13/1/2017). We developed the app because we wanted to develop something useful for users and they would be happy to pay us. If we don't make more money or have more user feedback, along with more users, I don't see any reason to continue. It's just another kind of developer masturbation. That's a tough decision indeed because we might lose all users at once. The decision could not be rolled back either. To be honest I'm fucking scared about this move. But I see the move as a test for our app. If we spend several months working on it, but we can't find any paid users, there are only 2 reasons, either we suck at making a product or there is no market at all. In either case, it's time to say goodbye. There's no point in going ahead. Booyah! The first customer arrivesFinally, after a few hours, the first customer arrives, i.e. Sam. Sam is a very funny customer. He has been supporting us since we launched our app in December 2016. Besides trying our app, he also sends us some opinions. He may be the kind of early adopters we want. In terms of his business, Sam is running a store called Collekt, selling Funko Pops / Dorbz / Mystery Minis in the UK. His store was launched on June 2016. I am not affiliated with Sam. However, his products are quite fun for "kidults" like me.. It's always fun to chat with him. He also gave us the first 5-star review on the Shopify App Store. I really appreciate his support when we feel lost in the difficult time. I guess if we could find 1,000 Sams, we would be achieving a sustainable business. Damn it! The first 1-star review appears :(We also received the first 1-star review. Not cool at all. The Shopify platform sets a limit to edit the website title and meta tags. This part is controlled by the Shopify theme. If we want to change any Shopify Store's meta tag, we must edit the Shopify theme, i.e. the liquid code. It cannot be controlled by Shopify App API, which is very different from what I imagined before we developed the app. I don't blame the user, First Generation Millionaire. He found it difficult to edit the code on his own. I found it the same. But we cannot change Shopify's software architecture. The installation process can hardly be streamlined like the Wordpress 1-click app installation. After discovering his comment on Friday morning, we immediately made a tutorial video and simplified the installation documents. Following that we replied to him about the issue. We are sorry to bring him inconvenience. Launched Conversion ReportConversion Report helps to give professional reviews for online stores, whether it's about design, branding, SEO or user engagement, we can help users to do a quick check. I bought a theme at US$14 and made the landing page in 1 day. The pricing plan was initially US$20 to make a custom report for any store, but the rate might be so cheap that it looked like a scam. So, I raised the price to US$79 after a while. You may ask, "Why launch another service if you are not doing well at your first one?" This is because we want to learn from users as much as we can. When we are testing with our free users, we found users unwilling to give us feedback. I guess it's because users do not feel like they are obliged to do anything for us. Users spent their free time to test our new app, in return they can enjoy new features beneficial to their businesses. Fair trade, right? I have to change this concept. If a user wants to ask us for our valuable opinion, he needs to pay for it. When users pay for something, even it's just a small amount of money, they will have a commitment to work with you. While providing our previous hands-on experience as a return, we can get user opinions and understand the challenges they are facing. .Furthermore, we have made Conversion Report a value-added service to the SPO users. It's included in the pricing plan. When a user signs up the free trial, he can claim a free conversion report. I will shoot an email to the new user when he installs our app. We are very happy to help him grow the business, together. New Intro Video MadeNot much to say about it. I spent US$157 dollar on Fiverr. A Poland-based video producer helped me do the voice-over, script writing, video production and background music. After I sent him a brief explanation about the video, It was finished within 1 week. Loved his no bullshit approach. I want to better illustrate what our app does, with graphics instead of plain texts. Not sure if this investment will pay off. Well, you can give me a comment as to whether you like the video or not. It's just 1:30, very short. A Simple Affiliate Program0.5 - 1 day has been used to construct a simple Affiliate Program. I have been closely checking who is trying our app since the beginning. Out of my expectation, some users are web designers or Shopify experts, who are not the end users. I guess they are sourcing solutions to solve customer's problems. If my little app can help them save development time, they can spend more time on other meaningful works. I also often do sourcing works for my customers. OK, they may be just spying on my app, but I always refer to other similar apps before the dirty works. So it's my karma, huh? Facebook & Reddit AdI have allocated US$75 and US$10 for Facebook and Reddit respectively. At the moment of this writing, Facebook has just displayed my ad for 1 day. There is not a single customer converted yet. I used the above video, linking to my Shopify App Store listing page as the ad content. Let's wait a few more days to see how it goes. Reddit charges based on impression. I don't know what CPM means. The system allows me to set the CPM from $0.5 and up but I don't know which level could bring me more audience. The subreddits /ecommerce, /entrepreneur and /shopify are selected to display my ad. As I have no idea of how it works, I have sent an email to the Reddit advertising department. They haven't replied me yet. What's next?Adding keyword ranking function to SPO. It can help to track store ranking against specific target keywords.Co-marketing with a customer of Conversion Report. His story is very interesting. I will share the interview with him in the next post. I have been researching co-marketing for 1 week. It looks like a cost-effective marketing tactic. Two parties share the cost with double the results. Personally, I am very excited to test this strategy soon. Please stay tuned with us!I have an idea. After discussing with different store owners, I think they are having different kinds of problems. There are various tools available for users. There are different blogs teaching them how to do SEO, social marketing, branding, inventory management, etc. However, the real problem is that they don't have practical experience nor knowledge to use the correct information. And it takes them a long time to find out the correct solution. I am wondering whether it's useful to have something like Quora / Stack Overflow for E-commerce. When a store owner is having a problem, he can ask other experienced store owners for an answer. If the questioner wants more, he can request a custom consultation session by paying an expert per hour. When I was asking questions on Reddit, I was not sure whether the answer was useful because no one is showing identity or background. I am thinking to do a small test for this idea. What do you think? Do you think it's practical? :) That's all I would like to share with you for the month. Let's get back to work! Did you find your Product Market Fit?How did you find the Product Market Fit (PMF) under limited time? What pivot did you try before discovering the real market? Feel free to drop me a note at [email protected] or you can just leave a comment here!
