sooo I think this ended up being my tribute art to hilda the series? almost a whole year after the show ended but oh well 🤷‍♀️

if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to ramble about how much the show means to me for a bit -

Soooo I really really love this show. It is so delightful in every way, from the heartwarming and funny writing to the insanely beautiful visuals. You can tell that every aspect of this show was made with so much love and care and it truly has a type of charm to it that I’ve never seen in anything else. I’m really glad it exists and got the run that it did.

While I was drawing this I kept thinking back to a recent quote from Luke Pearson about how iconic to the series that little red cabin in the wilderness is, even though it was only there for a couple of episodes/comics - pretty much everything that happened in the show is because the story moved on from there and Hilda found new settings and characters and her world got so much bigger, but at the end of the day, that place is where it all started.

When I was re-watching season 1 clips to get art references it took me right back to 2018 when the show first aired. I remember often putting on the season 1 soundtrack while I was scanning animations under the rostrum when I was at uni late and re-watching the episodes when I was feeling down and needed a bit of cosyness. I was Going Through It in late 2018 for a number of reasons and this quickly became my comfort show, and that’s probably a part of why I still love it years later - things are way better but it’s just lodged there in my heart now.

And uh…not to get all cliché but…this show really did help point me towards where I am now. While I was at uni I’d study clips of it from time to time to see how the animators achieved what they did and I learned some useful stuff here and there. like..someone’s animation breakdown video on Hilda is what introduced me to the concept of arcs (I was on an animation course so I should’ve known abt arcs already but oh well. better late than never 🫠) and a ton of animation stuff made more sense to me after that. I can look at some of my very old animations and pin-point a principle or a little cheat that I learned from studying Hilda. On top of that, at my uni we focused on hand-drawn animation (on paper first and then. photoshop of all things 😑) so that was the whole scope of my animation knowledge, and I was really fascinated by how 2D rig shows like Hilda even worked.

In the end I got so curious that I took a toonboom course after I graduated and started figuring it out for myself. I didn’t really know what to do with myself in the immediate post-graduation job search hell, but I wanted to learn more skills and Hilda looked like the type of show I wanted to be on more than anything, so I made a point of learning the stuff that might get me there. And learning rig anim was extra fun bc it helped me understand how this show was made and appreciate it even more :) It truly lit up an enthusiasm in me for all the technical behind-the-scenes stuff in cartoons that still keeps me motivated to this day. anddd long story short I’m a 2D rig animator now so I guess it worked out! ngl I think it’s very funny that I stanned Hilda so hard it got me a job on a disney show. how does that even happen. (and I’ve even had the honour of working with some of the people who made Hilda so in a way it feels like it’s all come full-circle now :) )

And obviously, it’s been really fun being in the fandom with everyone and being insane together. It’s wild that it’s been 6 years of that. I’m glad for the cool people I met and all those fun times. I’m really glad I got to be a part of that.

what do you have against Poseidon? /gen - asking as a fan of seafam. he wanted to keep Percy and help him avoid his fate, but Sally said no for immortality to both of them so Poseidon respected that and stayed away to not draw Zeus and Hades' attention (bc they would kill Percy).

and after everything's revealed, Poseidon actually does as much as he can for Percy while obeying the no-interference laws? actually no - he breaks them a few times to help Percy. Like by mortal standards I know he's neglectful but by godly standards he's literally the best in pjo?

unless your referring to cotg poseidon which in that case - hate away. cotg poseidon is the worst and feels incredible fake/performative.

Okay, so i promise i have many many reasons for this so this might be a bit scattered around so bare with me :))

In the books, we only see him interact with Percy a few times—which is much more than any other godly parent, i’m not denying that—but mainly (practically only) in the first series, before the war and before Percy has to choose between Kronos and Olympus.

So, how much of that do you think was Poseidon being a “good godly parent” and how much of it was Poseidon trying to make his son feel loved so that Percy didn’t turn on the gods. Because after Percy’s 16th birthday, Poseidon basically completely disappears from Percy’s life and when they do interact in say CotG, Poseidon is much more “godly” than he was when he was interacting with Percy in earlier books. He doesn’t try nearly as hard to make Percy feel heard or loved. He acts like every other god Percy has come into contact with.

The idea that Poseidon was just trying to manipulate Percy into choosing the gods’ side would also explain how Poseidon was able to contact Percy so easily without Zeus or the other gods throwing a hissy fit. They all knew that they needed Percy to like them, or at least they needed Percy to feel like they (Poseidon) cared about him.

Again, Poseidon stops interacting with Percy after the Battle of Manhattan. We do not see him at all throughout Heroes of Olympus (except for the final battle, when they fight together. However, they don’t talk after that and Percy is still just a weapon in that scenario. There is no father-son bonding in that scene at all.) I mean, i give him some grace during that time bc he was like tore between Neptune and Poseidon so that kinda makes sense but, with how much he was “present” in the earlier books, it was kinda weird that Percy had ZERO contact with him (if we’re going under the impression that Poseidon actually cared.)

Then, we see him in CotG and he is not like the Poseidon that Percy met in the earlier PJO books. He treats Percy like every other god does; like a weapon. And when he sees Percy in CotG, it’s not to check in and see how he is doing, it’s to give him more quests. It’s to remind him that he will never be anything more than a weapon. It could have just as well been Apollo (well actually not really bc Apollo was kinda all mortal-y at that time so never mind) or Hermes giving him the news and nobody would bat an eye. The Olympians could’ve even planned for Poseidon to be the one to give Percy the information about the quests because they thought it might lighten the blow, or Percy would have the chance of being more calm. It was probably all a manipulation tactic.

Also, i’m still kinda annoyed at Poseidon for him calling Percy a “wrongdoing” and an “unforgivable mistake.” Like i know that might not have been exactly what he meant to say, but he’s literally a thousand year old god. What do you mean you don’t know how to eloquently talk to a child? I feel like that’s just him being lazy. There is NO WAY that a thousand year old being doesn’t know how to put what he means to say into words. I can do that and i’m literally 14. Poseidon saying that and people using the excuse “well he didn’t mean it that way” is giving weaponized incompetence.

And, coming from someone who grew up with a manipulative parental figure, half the “compliments” and praise Percy gets from Poseidon feels very much like…well, love-bombing might be the right word for it? It feels fake and like he’s just trying to make sure Percy isn’t starting to feel bitter toward the gods. Or like he’s trying to distract Percy from the way the gods are manipulating him by showering him with gifts and advice and whatnot. But none of it actually feels real.

The books with Percys interactions with Poseidon are also completely from Percy’s pov, meaning that it’s an unreliable narrative. Percy desperately needs a good relationship with Poseidon because he needs a father figure in his life. There’s a very good chance that the interactions with Poseidon are much worse than what Percy says because he perceives them differently. He makes himself believe that Poseidon is being genuine and that he actually loves Percy because Percy knows he wouldn’t be able to take it if all of it was fake. He knows he wouldn’t be able to handle another person leaving him.

Overall, Poseidon was a manipulative god. He never really saw Percy as his son, he saw him as a weapon, just like all the other gods did. He manipulated Percy to prevent him from becoming bitter toward the gods before his 16th birthday. Paul Blofis is wayyyy better than Poseidon ANY DAY.

Dick Grayson (there’s really no order to this list is there? Lol anyway.)- never grow up (focused on his relationships with his siblings and then after the bridge with the “wish I’d never grown up” with flashbacks to him as Robin oh my god I’d cry), 22 (idk it feels very early Nightwing to me. I need a happy one for him bc he deserves it. Just an edit of him winning and being iconic), New Romantics (in that same vein, with the titans because it’d be fun), the story of us and I forgot that you existed (him and B fighting because I feel people ignore that they do fight quite often and IFTYE especially feels the right amount of petty and sincere for him, you know?), last but not least (can you tell I love him) Style (this and any love interest he repeatedly dates, I was thinking specifically Barbara but I could also see kory, I just think this song is fun for any relationship that gets rebooted in multiple formats)

Tim Drake- enchanted (as itty bitty Tim Drake or Robin, meeting them at galas and Knowing or just working with the bats in the beginning when he was star struck), mirrorball (“I can change everything about me to fit in” …yeah. This is more a fanon interpretation but I read a really interesting fic where Jason comes back and meets Tim and all he can see is his and dick’s Robin mannerisms in him, and can’t find anything that’s just Tim’s until he’s too tired to pretend anymore and it’s stuck with me) you’re losing me (this would be a sad one of people generally looking over or hating him, specifically Bruce calling him Jason, finding out dick made Damian Robin, Damian and Jason verbally attacking him, the events that led to Red Robin) Tis the damn season (for when Red Robin arc is over and he’s still angry but doesn’t know what else to do)

Damian Wayne: a place in this world (it’s not his aesthetic, but the themes of the song are very raised-in-the-league-trying-to-be-a-functioning-family-member), the best day (with him and Dick generally him getting to be a kid, I’m not crying you are), mean (I think the “swords and weapons that you use against me”would be funny with him drawing assorted weapons on people), Innocent (“your string of lights is still bright to me oh, who you are is not where you’ve been” oh my god. I just feel like he needs someone to mean this about him) exile (Talia leaving him, even if she meant to do it for his own good, having to recon with not being in the league anymore), this is me trying (I don’t have words for this one, it’s a vibe)

AND THE DEMON KING TRANSFORMATION i already talked abt it above but i wanna point out this blue system box here

a power outside of the system?!?? what does this mean for the protagonist of the new prequel bk_moon is writing?? is the weather forecasting included in this???

my first assumption right now is that the demon king power is just an in-world power system while everything else (ie the weather forecasting) is external, blue-textbox system. maybe? so lloyd got the demon king power which comes with skills separate from the ones that the system can provide? that would explain why there's no indication of lloyd trying to use the weather forecasting, he probably can't use it,,,? except i dont know why artanis can use it in that case. most likely i am overthinking it LMFAO

semi-related, i am a little confused as to why artanis did this? i guess she really, really trusted him w this power? or maybe her weather forecasting noted that this would be something good to do i have no idea,,, it Does feel a bit sudden i won't lie, i'm not sure how earned this is

i think showing them at emily's wedding really cements how much they really, REALLY need to fight fate now. the novel events happening is very very bad, but it feels like now that so many people, emily especially, have found THIS much happiness in their lives,,, failing to stop fate will hit even harder. i really like the analogy of a taut bow that the dragon king used when he first described it, bc it's really REALLY showing how much the repercussions will hit if they fail. im praying they succeed,,, please,,, i need a happy ending or i will curl up and turn into an actual shrimp irl.

and now the demons have to build the pantara railroad,,, artanis's expression omfg

some other thoughts of note that i had with a dear mutual (hi sprout :3) about this ep:

we were talking about how the plot seems to be paced right now, and honestly i'm of the opinion that while yes its Technically moving, the way they're ending each ep in this current arc makes it feel like it's going both very slow and very fast, that is to say it feels like it's not moving at all

bc they're like "okay NOW we're gonna do the build project" and it's been like that for several episodes now. pieces are moving but we're going past the point of it all too fast (especially the whole demon king thing. mentioned this before but while cool, doesn't feel as earned simply bc we're both tackling each point and yet blowing past all the points, so it's a lot less satisfying than it should be (despite how awesome it is,,, oh lloyd you give me so much internal conflict </3))

it does make me a lil worried that they're gonna timeskip the hell out of the pantara railroad build. however this episode, although it still has a weird pacing/movement issue, does feel a little bit better than the last two imo, so i have hope that it'll turn out okay, that it'll start heading up! i'm actually really excited to see where they go with this and i'm sure that even if the pacing is still goofy i'll have some kind of fun with it (seriously the panels this ep were wonderful HAHA)

Since I can't draw much atm bc of my physical state (I am ill since 3 weeks cuz there's something called delayed period after medications 🫠 I have been half dead, half like I am the best doing person alive for 3 weeks now. It's great. Not. I hate it. It's getting better tho.) So bc of that, all I can give u are HCs. You will like anyways. I hope you do. You better do or I'll visit you in your sleep. Uvo is a ff dog. Nothing new, I know, but I wanna elaborate more on that. You can turn (with u I mean 3 people out of the troupe cuz anyone else would get killed by uvo for doing that. These 3 people are chrollo, shal and Nobunaga) uvogin into a ff puppy. A purring puppy. Doesn't make sense but u know what I mean.

Also I am 100% convinced that if you just slightly on accident Touch uvogins inner thighs, he dies. Like literally. He freezes and turns into a ff mess of gibberish and stumbling over his own words. Cuz hear me out. Uvogin is ff ticklish and I'll fight over this with my life.

I KNOW HE HAS IRON SKIN. BUT ITS ONLY A PROTECTION FOR ROUGH AND HARSH AND SHARP INCOMMING DAMAGE. light touches with your fingertip? Nah sir he can't block that with his skin. He feels everything and he's going crazy over it cuz he is absolutely everything BUT used to soft touches.

Shal probably often chases him bc he loves to tease uvo with it. And uvo doesn't know what to do. I think he likes it on one hand but at the other hand he gets so overwhelmed by it. And it's the cutest shit imagineable in my head.

Go with a finger over his spine and he does a funny dance while just verbally keysmashing. I love it. I live for it. And it's by far my favorite hc of uvogin.

Also I had this scene in my head. Shalnark giving vuo belly rubs (hihi cute) and Nobunaga just goes by and looks over it like "nah shal u doing it wrong" and he just ff snitches on uvogin, cuz yeah again, nobu does know everything of this man, and uvo is like "u ff traitor"

So to do the snitching, I know it cuz Nobunaga told me himself, u have to combine gently but rough belly rubs with a bit of softness on slight tickling on his sides. 😌 Keeps him on the edge 🫠

Normally I would already sink into the ground out of emberassment over just writing this out. But I blame it on my medication that I give 0 fucks rn. So see this as a win. I will probably sink into emberassment when I read this tomorrow again :D

That's what happened to me the last time I stopped writing, and I didn't post at all for nearly a year. I HATED THAT. So TTSBC and TT is the perfect situation for me! OKAY!!! so i had to gather visuals for this one bc i have many feelings about this!! I went for scenes that no matter how many times i watch, they never lose their magic for me, no matter that i know theyre coming, it still takes my breath away and makes me roll around with delight, these most of these i feel like are probably pretty obvious ones, they were meant to be impactful but ough, if they dont tear me up in the best way

I mean, what can i say??? what IS there to say?? theyve been teammates for a few weeks at this point, but hinata has given all his trust to kageyama and in turn, kageyama promised to use it to its full potential. its also a promise for their rivalry!! like, okay okay okay think about it, with the context we have with Kazuyo, kageyama has *already* decided that hinata is going to be his someone better! he sees it innately and he wants to draw it out of him, and he's, hes trying to be *hinatas* someone better too!! do u understand *shakes you* do u see what i mean!!! i mean, im sure u do, im definitely not the first person to go insane about this and ppl have probably also said it in a way thats smarter than me but just, ough

its,,,, its,,, the acceptance of it all,,, i just think about how *alone* kageyama must have felt after his grandfather passed, we see and know that hes not good at connecting with people. hes bad at communicating and hes sensitive and he's scared of getting complacent. like, the all youth camp arc and atsumu calling him a goody-two-shoes is kageyama struggling with how he is changing, how hes trying to incorporate the influences he's gotten from his betters, and he cherishes it, but he's also felt like the advice he'd been given didn't also mesh with certain parts of himself. or, thats how i read into it, anyway. he tries so *hard* to be what ppl need him to be, and he's *so scared* of being rejected again. and this is hinata (and the rest of karasuno) telling him "HEY! we like you! we think you're smart and you dont have to shoulder connection all on your own! let us help you connect with us in a way where you feel comfy too :)" and then they talk about how they want communication! and it works!! and i just *rips into a pillow with my teeth*

HINATA'S PERFECT RECEIVE!!!!! so the inarizaki match is probably my favorite?? there are so many good moments but *this?* you wanna see me go insane? do you want smth thatll make me tear up? every time!! its just!!! a beautiful culmination of all of hinatas hard work that he's put into during the year! its his change of mindset! its his growth!! he's fallen a level deeper in love with volleyball and ive fallen a level deeper in love with his character

halo around the moon <3 Tsukki's block, his hard work, his character arc and development and everything is just *chefs kiss*. i remember the first time i watched the show, i,, *hated* tsukishima, and i think we definitely arent supposed to like him at first, but GOD does that turn around!! and this moment just feels so *earned* and *epic* and in the end HE STILL ISNT SATISFIED!!!!! he STILL wanted more!!! this point was worth 100 god fucking damn!!

im talking about the inarizaki match again!! but this time with a focus on Tanaka, who kind of struggled with this match! he was in a low place during it, felt stagnated and lame. Tanaka, as a character, i would say is best characterized by his mental fortitude and stability, funny enough. He's wild, but i think part of his visual design lends that as his base (since he's often compared to buddhas/monks). But in this match, we get more depth, we see him falter and struggle! it takes more than just a slap to his cheeks to get better (tho tsukishima does point out that he gets out of his depression pretty fast) but like, tanaka uses meaningful cognition to break his rut, and its also just like, advice that I've seen used for stuff like any kind of creative block as well. The visual during the animation, he's climbing up the stairs, he's slowing down, he's coming face to face with a canyon, a plateau. He sees two options, give in, or push forward and he picks "the cooler" one, and struggles forward, forces himself ahead! and kageyama backs him up too, by not letting him back down, assuring him that his usefulness hasnt reached its end and AUGH I LOVE A TEAM YALL

so tbh i am very much used to writing for fandoms / ships no one gives a shit about over the years LMAO + also most of my writing in the last year has been for original stuff, so i’m very used to not getting any feedback hahaha. for some reason, the things i’ve been inclined to write fanfiction for have almost always been stuff that’s not gonna draw much of a crowd anyway. like… in my opinion, one of the best things i’ve ever written (and also most personal, wrote while i was desperately clinging to reality during a psychotic episode and this was incredibly cathartic) was THIS.. full metal jacket fanfiction.. it’s my 2nd favorite movie ever and joker is absolutely a full on blorbo but i know damn well not many people are out here looking for fics about a vietnam war black comedy (tho surprisingly this did get several very lovely reviews)

SO that said it’s been so nice to get input on writing again these days!! i love having my little subfandom gang to share work with 😭

ofc the one that will always feel the most euphoric to me will be comments!! public comments on ao3, comments in tags, personal messages anything!! it is suuuuch a high and i definitely screenshot all of them for a rainy day

i definitely do A LOT of my writing on my phone .. and it’s killing my thumbs lmaoo have arthritis in my hands and carpal tunnel on top of it just already not being good for u so. very much that 😩 the reason i LIKE writing on my phone tho is it feels much more organic and easy when i can just do it anytime any place, rather than waiting til i can use my laptop when i feel like half the time when i finally open it, everything in my head disappears. OTHERWISE… i feel like everything else that i used to consider to be a bad writing habit, i’ve learned how to work with in positive ways which is so nice

The look on her face is closer to exhilaration than embarrassment, which sends his heart rate somehow higher. She rubs her forehead and repeats in awed relief, “that could’ve been so fucking bad.”

“Yeah, so…” he blows out a hard sigh. “That’s your dad, huh?”

“That’s my dad,” she scoffs. “Delightful, isn’t he?”

“Took the words right outta my mouth.”

She grimaces in secondhand embarrassment on her father’s behalf. “I’m sorry for that. I mean him. It’s not that hard to believe you have a fucking job.”

“Nah, it’s cool. I probably wouldn’t wanna see me in my house if I were him either.” He adds dramatically, “some teenage scoundrel alone with my pure, prestigious daughter.”

“That’s a big word for you, Wan.” She gives a small laugh and rolls her eyes, then elaborates, “his pure daughter being defiled by you.”

“Yeah, I am…so sorry,” he says sheepishly. He grins back, but still can’t ease his tense posture. His body is not entirely under his own control at the moment. “I probably shouldn’t have done that.”

Raava’s hands go to the ends of her hair in an unusual show of coy nervousness. “No, um, don’t…” Her eyes dart to the side, then back to him. “Be sorry. I may have...”

He waits in trepidation until she finally finishes bluntly, “I’ve been waiting for you to.”

“Oh.” His eyes practically sparkle at that answer, grinning stupid. “Well…that’s good, because uh…I’ve been wanting to. Obviously. Of course I did.”

She swallows hard and says quickly, “I’d like to do it again. Uninterrupted.” Almost as an afterthought, she finally confirms, “like last time.”

Dazed with shock, he says, “I can…definitely make that happen. Say the word. Whenever you want.”

Raava purses her lips, her eyes darting to the side and back once more, then unexpectedly offers, “do you work on Saturday night?”

i think i’ve gotten better about this, but i’d like to become a bit more consistent over all! i feel like i go in bursts of like… writing very intensely constantly for a few weeks-months, then struggle so much to get anything out the rest of the time. i’d rlly like to find some kind of medium - i mean, i don’t wanna ever lose the months of intense creativity THAT is the best. but if i could smooth it out and manage to have a somewhat steady rhythm on the regular, that would be amazing

5. What do you think is the most character-defining c!Dream scene?

I think. In terms of moments that actually ummm are the most telling of his character in general, vassal wouldn't necessarily be my choice. But in terms of impact on his character, god, is there anything more defining? If we are talking about c!Dream and the villain persona and every single action defined upon that as a foundation, you HAVE to talk about vassal. If we're talking about c!Dream and c!Tommy and the moment that truly set their roles in stone, it has to be Vassal. Vassal is what leads to c!Dream who "does everything for chaos" in November 16th, vassal is what led to a c!Dream who stood alone after Wilbur's death, vassal is what led to the breakdown at the end of Pogtopia that was the driving force behind all of his actions to put himself in prison, vassal is where he gives Wilbur the TNT, Wilbur who he intentionally echoes in Doomsday. If you make a list of c!Dream's standpoints on a variety of L'manburg related issues, not only is c!Wilbur the common thread between any changes in viewpoint he expresses, but Vassal is as well. Everything in season 1b is, in a lot of ways, The Fallout after season 1a, obviously, but also more specifically Pogtopia and especially the vassal conversation.

9. How do you headcanon c!Dream's appearance? Does it ever change?

Funniest part of this ask is that like, 2 years ago, I literally made a series of c!Dream portraits literally about this. I'd say that my designs have probably changed some since but I'll throw them here bc they're relevant:

I don't have the strongest opinions on his appearance besides. Normal guy. Human. I tend to draw him with straighter hair, which is kinda funny to me--armor + mask usually, especially later on in the story. I tend to flip between wanting his appearance to have more obvious marks from the torture versus less so (I do love myself the horror of healing potions can literally heal everything so I play with that sometimes) but I definitely like a gaunter appearance post-prison. I do have a degree of preference for prettyboy c!Dream, because I think it plays with the whole dehumanization + mask thing in a fun way as well as how a lot of people on the server who see him + his power as a threat think that their best means of dealing with him is through subjugation + taking his power by force + making him their bitch.

16. What's your favorite c!Dream headcanon?

Ooooh that's a hard one...hmmmm. Mostly hard because I can't recall literally anything on demand. To Be Fair. Idk, maybe along the lines of the original Disc Wars (now that we've had both c!Dream and c!Tommy refer to those times as being much more lighthearted compared to later conflicts) there have always been a few conflicts where, in the spirit of the whole prank war nonsense that originally inhabited that first "war," I've been a fan of the idea of c!Dream going easy on c!Tommy and c!Tubbo (mostly because at the time I was preeeetty sure cc!Dream was going easy on them at a few points, the whole conflict with the ender chest being a standout. Like okay Tommy Just So Happened to craft the ender chest JUUUUUUUUUST in time. Mmhm. Sure..)

But for a later one bc it's the only thing my head is giving me, probably that c!Dream was high as fuck in the c!Bad prison stream. Those potatoes were not clean Sam and you know it 🙄

Okay I’m gonna make an AI post which I usually refrain from doing. People have GOT to stop immediately accusing anything that they don’t like or looks a certain way of being “AI” ESPECIALLY the with the amount of confidence that they’re doing it with. I cannot TELL YOU how often I see Twitter & Reddit threads of people posting zoomed in screenshots of details of art or video going “this is 100% definitively AI you have to look at the pixels” and what’s in the screenshot is either evidence of good old fashioned photoshop, distortion from weird photography, CGI, just really stereotypical art or a good old fashioned human mistake. ARE there people out there generating AI images and passing them off as their own art? Abso-fucking-loutley. And it’s totally fair and okay to be skeptical & aware bc creating AI art without disclosing it is very much dishonest. But people have taken the (generally pretty accurate) advice for IDing AI images and turned it into an “I can ALWAYS TELL see it’s DEFINITELY ai I know these things” and a lot of times they just. Don’t. I also really dislike that these tweets are often paired with a kind of “look what you made me do,” like “it’s a shame AI exists now so we have to constantly harass people like this now 😢.” No. No you do not. The existence & possibility to generate AI art is not forcing you to go around harassing artists who make minor mistakes and accusing everything you think looks Too Shiny of being AI. Here’s a couple ACTUAL protips for AI generated content: anything older than 2020 is NOT AI. If it’s existed on the internet for ages, it’s not AI. Now it might be photoshop. Don’t forget photoshop exists. Things can be *fake* without being AI. Also, the things AI struggles with still are character consistency, “coherence” and interaction between people/people and objects. If there’s a lot of images or separate video shots of the same character or object and it doesn’t change very much or at all between shots, it’s less likely to be AI. “Coherence” is the AI term for the relation of objects to their adjectives and descriptions. AI tools are racing to get better at this, but they still struggle. This would be something like “a man in a red shirt in front of a blue door.” AI image generators will often produce a man in a red shirt in front of a red door, or a blue shirt and a red door, or a blue house with a black door and a man with blue skin, etc - because they understand what red & blue are but not the relations of the objects to each other (because it’s a computer with no human understanding of context). In the same way, they’re very bad at understanding the spatial relationship of people and objects to each other, and it gets worse as ideas get more complex. Very specific looking images of multiple people interacting with each other, holding and manipulating items, interacting with the background, etc are unlikely to be AI. This goes triple if the background is busy and full of well-rendered items that make artistic and contextual sense. AI image generators struggle with busy scenes, busy backgrounds, and groups of people, ESPECIALLY small and distant faces. Coherently rendered distant faces, small faces, small items, distant buildings, etc are generally a sign something probably isn’t AI. Also, accurate fanart or drawings of existing characters are likely not AI unless they are for EXTREMELY popular characters or fairly simple ones. Since AI images average across existing content with no understanding of meaning, they’ll generally produce a piece of art which looks or “feels” like an existing character but with most of the details wrong. Now, none of this is 100%, nor is it foolproof, nor is it Eternal. AI tools are getting better at pretty much all of these things. But they’re some things to bear in mind before you get ready to start launching accusations at a stranger on Twitter because they fucked up and drew their catchlights wrong. If I see one more person getting death threats because of simple mistakes or simply because of having an often-copied style I’m gonna scream.

You are in fact very susceptible to propaganda and the (understandable) tone of the AI debate has launched quite a lot of very morally and emotionally charged posts & options that have made a lot of people start confidently accusing others of using AI, or pointing at just weird or photoshopped images from 10 years ago and saying “the proportions are off and I can’t quite see one of the fingers and the eye lights are slightly wrong I hate this AI slop” and the image is from 10 years before AI images existed. It’s fine and good to point out AI use where it’s happening but please please be smart about it

under the cut bc i went a lil crazy and this is very long (sorry)

i don't really like how much they sanitized the game, i feel like they just made an effort to make everyone much much nicer and agreeable than they initially were especially in the prologue, which is okay (don't get me wrong we love positivity and growth), but at the same time there were moments where i felt like. it was a lil much and a little juvenile. like... it's okay for the main cast to have dislikes between eachother and i was kinda feeling like they eliminated that at one point? it was okay for asra and julian to be bitter, it was okay for nadia to be more hard-hearted and commanding. it was okay for lucio to be liked by his people and not the butt of every joke, it got to a point where he's not believable as a villain or a threat (but tbf muriel's route kinda fixed that) and i definitely think they did that bc of the backlash. a lot of people were saying asra is shady and toxic to julian and nadia is too commanding but ... so what? they looked sexie while doing it so what's the problem??? oh and come to think of it the magic system kinda played into that? i'm not a huge fan of the magic system in the arcana it's very wishy washy and oh everyone can do magic now actually it's within ✨all of us✨. i think it's just not well done

i actually think the earlier chapters and the prologue are overall much better than the last few ones for the main 3 and that includes the cgs. the first few cgs are so beautiful??? the later ones look so weird and uncanny to me?????? i know they had different artists on the team obviously and i think the earlier cgs i'm referring to were moreso done by dana rune and veronica liwski (who by the way deleted their artstation. wild. this is what i mean when i say this is a WASTELAND) and it's a shame how little that is out of the full no. of cgs. dana rune the way you draw asra aaaaaaaaa

i think the way they went about the endings is so, so CLEVER. the choices you have to make are quite subtle, i remember we were wracking our brains as the chapters were coming out to discover what exactly were the good/bad choices and what they could lead to. i like that some of those choices are so subtle that they're pretty much impossible to catch. (for instance. in lucio's first chapter when he tells you to hurry up with the spell you can reply with 'shush/be patient.' those answers are almost the same but they lead to two different endings!!! wild!!) and i think there's a very good balance between 'hard to catch' and 'pretty obvious' choices! and the fact that they went about creating bittersweet endings rather than 'bad' endings is wonderful. i think it's ten times more impactful to have an ending where yes, you are with you love interest and all is well, but not quite. that gnawing feeling of 'what did i do wrong?' sticks to you and urges you to analyze the main characters and it's such good characterization!! i just adore how they went about the endings, it's not too obvious, not too subtle, not too heartbreaking, not too drastic, it's just RIGHT!

i'm really gonna try not to make this next one a novel but asra's route is one of the most beautifully told, gut-wrenching, soul-crushing, utterly devastasting love stories i came across in any media ever. i'm moreso referring to the set-up itself so the prologue + the earlier chapters + everything that happened beforehand. i think his route is underrated just in the sense that. the prologue itself is comically superior when it comes to asra's route, and yea that's bc he's the only one the mc has a preestablished relationship with. but UGH! the fountain scene is probably my fave scene in the game, i love how they mirrored it later on with the roles reversed, it was PERFECTION. they said 'let's take idiots in love' but make it actually make sense and a tragedy. and let's make it the most devastating reason we can think of. it's amazing. the pining, the heartache, the suffering. the mystery being revealed to you little by little (because otherwise the mc goes catatonic, so asra has to be patient, patient, patient) and being flooded by the questions of what were they like before all this?? so interesting to think about. i think it's very important in games like these to stimulate the player into trying to think of a backstory and let their creative juices flow and asra's route does that so well! paradoxically it's also true that they take some of your freedom away as a player because you do find out that there's a bit of history there whatever route you are playing but. the fact that it hardly matters bc he loves mc so much that he would never take their freedom away is amazing. just realizing the amount of love he has for mc, the restraint he has had all those years and how painful it must have been, holy shit. GUT-WRENCHING!! this is why everytime i play another route the second asra shows up and says something even remotely tied to the past i gotta close that route and go back to him kfdhgkjfhdg. this quote in lucio's route is particularly making me scream shit vomit: 'he looked like my first memories of him. kind, but weary, and so very sad.' bitch what the FUUUUUCK

and just. the vibes and the writing of this route overall hoooo bitch. 'why must he go where i can't follow?' 'do i remember? how could i ever forget? i love him, i have to tell him, even if it kills me'. when they kiss for the first time and asra doesn't even dare move because he has held back for so long, and he's physically shaking (bitch me too the fuck). 'i feel it radiating off of him. i want you. i need you. i miss you so much' that insane orpheus and eurydice parallel in the early chapters which also serves as foreshadowing!!! 'i dug until my fingers bled'. 'i try to stay away from you but my heart keeps pulling me back' THE WHOLE DREAMS AS A VESSEL BETWEEN LOVERS TROPE (this shit kills me personally everytime) 'everyday my love for you grows brighter and brighter until it consumes me'. just. this idea of 'a thousand life-altering things happened to part us, but even when i have no idea who you are, i will sooner or later fall in love with you, simply because you are you and i am me and it's bound to be like this, you are my home and i am yours'. INJECT ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT 💉💉💉 I PLAYED THIS GAME WHEN I WAS 19, NOW I'M ALMOST 25 AND I'M STILL READING HIS ROUTE CRYING SHITTING THROWING UP AND KICKING MY LEGS IN THE AIR. i'll be a senile 90 year old lady in the old folks' home playing this stupid mobile game on my home crying and thinking 'damn bitch i need to get myself a gemini like that what the fuck'

Much later there’s a much quieter, sweeter scene of him voicing not wanting to be that different or flashy and she takes out some accessories that suit and enhance his style, comfy and like him. Eventually oop! She rlly needs a date and it’d go with her pet project, "besides you could use this for networking". "Hm? Oh yeah, a half up half down ponytail would look cute on you, in a street kind of way. But bangs in your face can go for cool and mysterious too. It can give you some personality that goes with or contrasts with your outfit, I guess. But this *is* still a fancy event, so a simple well-groomed swept aside style would keep it prim and formal, and it *is* your first entry into high society... Chloe becomes designer & coordinator, director, for marc & Nath’s comics! She loves outfit coordinating, set designing, composition etc. Marc handles the writing and Nath the drawing, Chloe helps with the visual design. It starts with Chloe suggesting lil things to Nath when she sees his drawings, like add a common accessory to all the team. And since she was queen bee she can fact check some things. He loses his sketchbook while walking and she picks it up, not in her usual mood, n she sees his sketches and starts rattling off about details and fashion. Nath: "oh I- I’m not very knowledgeable in fashion designing..." she looks him up and down, taking his garish outfit in. "That I could have guessed." He huffs, sarcastic "Well, *thank you*, Chloe. That’s not a half bad idea, I could ask Marinette for some designing help, actually!" He lights up at that idea. She grits her teeth, angry and snatches his sketchbook back. She starts drawing on another page and her drawing isn’t really good but the ideas? Wow, they work. Chloe knows her aesthetics. "Stupid Marinette would *not* know how to arrange queen wasp’s hair, thank you very much. Ugh, this is outrageous! Utterly outrageous! You can keep the changes, and keep your god awful awfully thought out designs out of my sight, next time!" With his open sketchbook shoved back into his hands, he stares down at it n truly appreciate it. Wow, this is some serious good job. He thinks about it, kinda smug, oh I can *definitely* play her. He starts leaving his sketchbook behind on purpose n she starts giving him more and more notes when sabrina isn’t around. At some point she comes to the art room and everyone is silent but she’s shy and makes an effort not to be mean. The art dude takes her a bit under his wing and she starts channeling her time n energy into art, peeps of the art room start tolerating her. She takes Marc under her wing confidence wise, and sabrina tags along and rediscovers a love for scrapbooking. Omll marc & sabrina besties qpr cuties?

Pas de deux: they have a random ballet class in PE and they get paired up for the project and chloe 1) wants a good grade for her dad’s rep 2) is goal-oriented 3) has much less barb when teaching. Also prob a sad side note about impressing her mother with ballet classes as a kid.

But Are the Curtains Blue or Just Your Tear-stained Veil: Nathaniel tended to notice things, notice people. To dissect them, as if they were a comicbook character. What was surprising about Chloe is that while her attitude was bolsterous and always seemed so heated, her eyes were like ice, distant. A deep blue, and curtained off, like she could not let anyone else see what they hid. But Chloe was mean and cruel, and sometimes, Nathaniel dug too deep at wasn’t there. Maybe, they were just blue. He always came back at the mystery of her, though, and was pushed and pulled in a one-sided dance with her like the come and go of waves. //Maybe they just weren’t any curtains, whatever that meant. When she was a kid her dad would bring her when talking business at the louvre so she ran off with Jean and she knows the museum very well.

Chloe’s dad keeps bothering her about rules and standards and finding a partner, so Chloe resolves to find the lamest lousiest boyfriend. To make a statement, of course, she tells herself so when her eyes keep flicking to the redhead sitting at the back of the class.

Nath starts disappearing quietly to places more and more, now that he has a miraculous. Chloe susses him out. W-what?? How did you notice it? Nobody ever pays attention to me- Ugh, you’re *impossible* to miss with that fluorescent hair of yours. Well you’re the only person who pays attention to it, apparently. Hah, blame my superior eyes if you must. Well if *I’m* what your superior eyes choose to watch then- U-um, we’re getting sidetracked! W-what are you doing here! Reverse universe where she’s still denied being queen bee so she’s Nath’s sidekick? He doesn’t really have any friends besides Marc which not in this universe bc it comes before, so he wouldn’t have anyone else so lowkey he’s grateful. He notices her really truly changing for the better as they hang out more.

I dig my hole, you build a wall: As Chloe Bourgeois doubles down on being an irredeemable bully, Queen Bee continues to rise on a pedestral of adoration. It doesn’t help, nothing ever does, and it’s getting harder to make herself ignore how miserable she is. Chloe drowns herself in her superhero job, squeezes every drop of appreciation from her fans she can. Nath happens to be one of them, hardcore. She just needs someone to lean on.

26/11/‘22 Chloe gets akumatized into a dollhouse lover like with her teddybear mr cuddles, and she wants to kidnap some ppl and keep them like dolls to play with her and listen to her every want and choice of activities. Sabrina is mad at her so elle la boude. She picks Nath and they have a tea party isolated at Le grand paris etc etc. Maybe after Adrien cuts it off with Chloe so she freaks out amd wants friends, even if toxic controlling, but she’s not shooting for Adrien bc she’s upset at him and ignores him.

Outlined:

He forgets some comic pages behind, vs queen wasp, and goes back to get them and finds chloe reading them intensely, seeming genuinely invested. She’s lowkey having a panic attack n shoos off an akuma?? He’s shocked, but that requires introspection so in the moment he’s doubtful and bitter. She’s panicced and embarrassed about having been found out. He’s like, wtf was so upsetting about my comic?? Jealous of my art? Mad that something isn’t about you? Angry that I have talent and dreams, unlike you? she flinches. She upsetti "you wouldn’t understand." "Oh, try me. I have experience in being put down, after all." He bites coldly. She explains half-heartedly "Oh, here comes the self-pity." Her lips quiver, she looks down. "You’re right. It is self-pity. I’m miserable." The "and I have no one else to pity me but me" is muttered so quietly. Her fists clench, chin tucked in her torso. Then her gaze hardens and she snaps her head up. "Whatever." He blocks her way out. She grits dangerously "*Out*. Of. The way." Her eyes prickle with tears. He doesn’t even flinch "That won’t work today." She’s so close to snapping violently but instead just cries. Blabla "Yeah well, when you’ve dug a hole as deeply as I have, you can’t get out. Not without a miracle, anyways." She says, you could do one about queen bee next, please. N leaves quietly and he’s never seen her so... non-agressive.

Entracte/solo act: Picking on Nathaniel Kurtzberg when alone with him, Chloe found, was a much different experience than humiliating him in public. It turns out, he only unleashes his fury on the most deserving of private audiences. Notes: I headcanon Nath, bc of the reflekto ep, would stand up for himself more if he wasn’t being bullied in public. I feel like having all the eyes on him motivates him to shut up and try to make the ordeal as brief as possible & leave the situation, so when he’s alone and getting sass he has less qualms about snapping and ripping into ppl lol. Chloe goes to the art room and Nath is alone in it. He asks where Sabrina is, she rolls her eyes "She had *something important* to attend to." She goes to see what he’s working on and makes her snide remarks as usual but unlike usual he snaps and rips into her, she loses her haughty attitude real quick. The next time they make eye contact in class, she grimaces and looks away. He wins. But then she gets a fire and glares at him head on. Let the war truly begin. 

To Nathaniel’s and Choe’s horror, the class goes on a mandatory camping trip. It does not go well for either of them. "Um, I’m sorry mme Bustier but I won’t be able to come. I’m sick, yes, cough cough, how unfortunate." Bustier is not amused. She groans when it’s announced they’ll have a camping trip. Nath keeps his in, but for once they agree on something. Ugh.  Nath just wants to draw in his tent, that’s too much to ask??!

Royalties: nath finds out chloe is queen bee and threatens to tell it to everyone so that ladybug will take her miraculous away. In exchange for his secret, Chloe must praise him and his art on her social media, throw his name in at fancy soirées, become his "fan". To Nath’s surprise and Chloe’s horror, it backfires. Royally. Her "Nath is so cool" post was half advertizing half for public humiliation. Being the daughter of the mayor of one of the most famous cities in the world meant she has a lot of followers, quite a few in the elite sphere of Paris. The post’s a bit rebellious on her end because he doesn’t like her calling him Nath. Since Chloe *never* praises anyone and the tone was overeager/affectious, people start theorizing they’re actually dating. He takes the logical leap to be invited by her at an event, but as a plus one because it’s not her party to invite people at. Normally he wouldn’t want to have anything to do with a fancy party, but he begrudgingly has to admit networking is very important as an artist, plus he’d do it to piss off Chloe alone.

Vampire au!! Summary: Beyond her humanity, which Chloe had never truly cared about anyway, becoming a vampire hadn’t really, concretely, taken away anything from her. She was still rich, loved by all of Paris, and beautiful. And yet, she realized then that she had lost herself without knowing when.  //Chloe has been a vampire for a lil while, very upset. Mr cuddly is also a reminder of her past life. She longs to see herself again, she has had to keep out of the spotlight because she has no reflection and can’t be taken a picture of, she asks Nath to draw her like in Mirror, Mirror the awesome fic which I recommend! Nath finds out her new identity so he becomes tied up in it all, he’s the only one who knows so he becomes who she feeds on. "I can pay you. What do you want? A thousand euros per night? The latest drawing tablets? A gallery showing? Publishing deal? Just help me." Right from the start she feeds off from his neck despite his hesitance. She goes "a wrist? Are you kidding me? I settle for nothing but the best." But the reality is she just wants to feel close to someone, one time the bite turns into a hug crying session. -"... Does that mean my blood is the tastiest?" She’s shaken at that, "That- was *not* what I was implying. It’s not like I would know, anyways." She huffs n looks away. "Your blood is... satisfactory." He smirks, from her, that’s a huge compliment. He can just hear it in his mind "My taste buds are only the most refined!! I can tolerate only but the best!!" She does tell him he’s sweaty n stinks the first time tho. He has to hide his neck bite, ppl tease him about hickeys. At some point a classmate figures out it’s chloe that gives him his hickeys and Nath has to damage control and people start sussing they’re a couple.

No lullaby: No one liked her, but she could dream, couldn’t she? The delusions she lulled herself to had never really been dreams, but maybe to reborn anew she could find a lullaby in someone new, too. // based on the song No Lullaby by Siamés. Also La la la by Jason Chen Akuma that calls itself Lullaby, it was made because they have to move away from their parents or smth like that, so it lashes out and makes all kinds of kiddy & wholesome parenthood stuff. It turns people into happy kids/babies by tapping into childhood memories of parents(something like that), but doesn’t affect Chloe. Because Chloe never had her parents be around much, or them being much like parents at all. Chloe is fighting as Queen Bee, of course, in an AU where people know who she is but Ladybug still trusts her to want not to smear her family name by being a bad superhero. "I could be a superhero and my mother still wouldn’t blink my way... Oh, sorry, that actually happened, not much for an hypothetical." Everyone stares at her in shock. "What? I can have a smart vocabulary!" People look at her with pity and sympathy. "T-that’s not it..." Chat says. Anyways they’re fighting it and a lot of other miraculous holders get hit and she does too but is immune bc it taps into their happy parents childhood memories, meanwhile it’s only able to conjure up her plushie for her. Anyways so she gets swinged up to a rooftop where Nathaniel is sitting and drawing Queen Bee, he jolts and goes "Q-quee-Chloe?" but they don’t have much time since the akuma comes swinging in too and gets Nath under its spell. She carries around baby!Nath around because for some reason she feels a sort of duty to people she knows irl. She goes to the building the other holders are in or something but still ends up alone with Nath since everyone got affected, she panics as her miraculous beeps and she’s alone to fix everything, but Nathaniel draws with his fine art colored pencils like kids use crayons and does tons of kiddy imaginative drawings, and starts humming, bringing her out of her torpor. As the tune calms her, she does a “what would Ladybug do?”, "Ugh, I could have used Evillustrator right about now." She strategizes on how to break the spell over Ladybug for purification, and goes in to break the akuma item holder. When Nathaniel comes to, he’s mad to have ruined his pencils, now with blunt deformed tips, but then he looks at his sketchbook in utter confusion he sees pages and pages of kid’s drawings, recognizing his own infantile style, but the most curious are that some drawings include Queen Bee. His feelings are conflicted and he wants to know what happened, but dreads asking her, but he laughs at a drawing of him pulling her ponytail, and stills at the one of her hugging him. End notes: Next time Queen Bee gets swung onto his rooftops by an akuma, Nath jolts but responds to that adrenaline by crossing his leg over his other knee and raising an eyebrow over half-lidded eyes: "Somehow, I’m not surprised." You know, like sometimes when people flirt as fight or flight response lmao.

22/2/‘23 Chloe was trying really hard to be kind like a true superhero now, and with the birthday of her classmate Nathaniel coming up she would have to, painstakingly, do everything in her power to give him the best gift ever. One problem is, she doesn’t really know him, like, at all. She asks him what he likes. She thinks of supherhero stuff and art stuff. She doesn’t know about drawing tablets so she’s like, what about this professional drawing desk I’ll have my bodyguard carry? As if everyone has the privilege to have the space for a new furniture on a whim. She asks Sabrina for help like this close to a meltdown, maybe even Marinette: "The fool was in love with you, don’t you know anything about him that could help??" And then at the end shes like "omg. I can get him an interview with Queen Bee!" Ooh does she get akumatized with some gifter gimmick? Would be neat but naaah. Maybe two parts, idk what the end should be! Copic markers maybe

Is it just me?

So I recently joined TOH fandom about a month ago and I noticed some things that no one seems to be talking about.

This could mean one of two things: either these are things everyone's already aware of and I'm just slow

OR

not

I'm leaning towards the first option, but I'm still gonna post about it bc idk maybe this will be of use to at least one person (and so I don't forget about it lol)

I am in no way, shape, or form trying to hate on TOH, it is currently my favorite thing ever. I am obsessed with it and am super hyperfixating on it. These are just some funny things I noticed and they are all meant lightly.

SPOILER ALERT FOR THE OWL HOUSE SEASON 3

Here we go:

Luz's name in Spanish literally just means "light" so it's kinda ironic that the first spell she learns is the light spell (also ironic when she dies she turns into light, my immediate thought was "Luz turned into luz lol" and I laughed during that part I know it was supposed to be serious but I couldn't help the irony)

At the Blight Industries secret showcases, NONE of their investors question the fact that Odalia uses CHILDREN to showcase her WEAPONRY. The only one with some kind of common sense is Alador, who at some point calls his wife out for getting all mad in an argument with a teenager and almost killing her.

In a similar category, Eda is like the only person who realizes that Luz and King are just kids and to have them be worried about the fate of the BI and feel like they're the ones responsible for fixing things is probably reeeally stressful and traumatizing for them because again, they're children and having to save an entire population is probably not good for their mental health. This goes for other shows and movies that portray children saving the world as well, with all other characters (including adults) being totally okay with it. Eda is the only one who sees this is not normal.

THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL WITH THIS SHOW IS INSANE. Luz's hair slowly getting longer as the show progresses, eventually being long enough to put in a small ponytail by the end of season two. Amity's hair color changing in the intro the episode after she changes it in the show. The end credits of season two changing from green hair Amity looking back at Luz as they walk to portray her crush to not only the hair changing, but also her and Luz hold hands once they start dating in the show. Most shows I know wouldn't even change their intro if a character's appearance changed. The backgrounds also have some super cute "blink and you miss it" details that just adds so much life to the story (i.e the L+A carvings in season 3 in Luz's desk at school AND in her room, stringbean's corner, post-its and notes and drawings in her locker, room, and house, a sign saying Eda's library card was redacted in season 1 "lost in language"). So much props to Dana and the whole team for amazing attention to detail!

Amity's mom wants her hair dyed green, but why? I think it is because Amity was born with Alador's hair color and not Odalia's and she wants to be the dominant figure in the house. She doesn't pressure Ed and Em to do this because they have a variant of her hair color, so they already resemble her more than their father. Amity dying her hair purple could be a symbol of leaving the control of her parents and branching out to be her own person.

Manny (Luz’s dad) was also into cosmic frontier and him and Camila would cosplay together as it seems from the scene in “Thanks to Them” where I believe Gus gestures to the closet full of cosmic frontier stuff. There’s a box labeled as Manny’s cosplay 2.0. It’s so wholesome that they had a similar interest! :D
