eddie wakes up in a strange room. this was not particularly unusual for him, historically: he’d spent most of his twenties waking up in new and interesting places (including a handful of jail cells). but after eddie, the label, and the los angeles superior court system decided it would be best if he stopped drinking and doing blow, it stopped being such a regular occurrence.
so it’s almost alarming to him, now, to be blinking up at an unfamiliar cement ceiling with the raging bitch of all headaches and generally feeling like he got hit by a truck, got whiplash in a crash with the way his neck aches. he’d think he was hungover like all those times before except for how sharp the pain is, bright.
he worries, briefly, he’s relapsed, or someone’s slipped him something. but he remembers what him and the boys had been up to, before this, and he thinks it’d’ve been a strange night indeed if someone roofied a c-list (b-list if he’s feeling charitable) musician at a fucking frozen four game.
because yeah, eddie remembers: they’d been third row, watching the wisconsin ladies clean up and cheering for jeff’s kid sister like she was about to get olympic gold. (she probably would, someday. her and that mayfield girl who played defense were looking down the barrel at a 2026 run apparently.
eddie’s been to a handful of games over the years, when touring and recording allows them to go. he’s resolutely never been a sports guy but he’ll admit, when pressed, that live hockey is pretty dope. to say nothing, of course, of how jeff would probably murder them all in their sleep if they didn’t rep the red and white for lottie.
(and also and this is between eddie and his god alright — but lottie’s coach? standing back there in his suit, hair styled and dialed, snapping his gum, yelling at the refs? kind of doing it for him, okay. worth the price of admission, even if the tickets weren’t free.)
when he thinks harder — which hurts too — the last thing he clearly remembers was someone from the beavers scoring, bringing their lead to 5-1, and a slapshot from the other team getting out over the boards and nearly taking out some lady’s popcorn. someone behind them in the seats said, “jesus they’re getting desperate, eh?”
then shit goes dark on him, not even a fade to black, but a full on smash cut, roll credits black, and the post-credits scene is where ever the fuck eddie is at the moment. it smells like human and cold and icy hot, so obviously, he thinks, he died and went to hell like all the church ladies said he would back in hawkins, or probably just a locker room. what the fuck?
he blinks at the ceiling, at an interesting water stain on the cement texturing. he’s in the middle of wondering where the rest of his band has gone if he’s here alone, fucking abandoners, when a sweaty redhead with the bitchiest expression he’s maybe ever seen enters his field of vision.
“you’re alive,” she says.
eddie blinks again. “why do you sound so disappointed?”
“yo coach!” she shouts, already on the move away from him. “he’s alive!”
he tries to sit up, but that makes the pain in his head worse, and also draws attention to the fact that his back also hurts. he squeezes his eyes shut and makes a truly embarrassing noise of pain — if pressed, he’d call it a whimper — and a pair of big hands land on his shoulders.
“out, out ladies i got this! hey!, hey, man, don’t move just yet,” says big hands.
“yeah, no problem, i don’t want to anymore,” eddie says. he stirs up the will to open his eyes again and very nearly slams them back shut. because of course the person staring down at him is fucking coach hottie snackycakes himself. he’s even better looking in person, too, big droopy eyes, lips as pink as his bubblegum, and shiny, jesus christ. he’s still got eddie by the shoulders, hands warm through the thin cotton of his flannel and tee — because eddie’s always been more fashion than sense, wayne always said, and it’s even worse now that the paps are on him—
“oh, fuck this is gonna be all over tiktok later, isn’t it?” he moans.
“maybe not.”
“don’t lie.”
“listen, eddie — it is eddie, right?” asks coach hottie. “i’m steve. coach harrington. faughnsie — lottie, i mean — she said you’re eddie. her brother’s guitarist? what do you remember?”
“more like he’s my singer,” he says, “but sure. and not much.”
“well, you’re gonna be okay,” says coach hottie — steve. “it really wasn’t that bad, and it was probably too fast for anyone to get it, unless they already had a camera on you. you took a puck to the head when one popped up. i’d apologize but it wasn’t one of my girls who did it, so. anyway — you weren’t out for long, which robbie says is good — she’ll get a look at you in a second — but you got your bell rung pretty good. and you’re gonna have quite the shiner, trust me.”
“speaking from experience?”
“oh, yeah. closer and faster too.” he gently raps his head with his knuckles. “too many concussions too early ended my nhl days, in fact.”
“oh. oh shit, sorry, i—“
“don’t worry about it, man, it happens,” he says. “and if it hadn’t, i wouldn’t be here.”
“at the frozen four.”
“yeah, sure, that too.”
“what?”
“what?” steve waves him off. “anyway, i’m just glad to see you up, ish, and talking. looked pretty scary, from the bench.”
“i really don’t remember,” says eddie. “but i’m sure i’ll see it on tiktok later, like i said — at least, my unconscious, bleeding form.”
“i got up there pretty fast, so i doubt it,” says steve.
eddie blinks, twice. “you—?”
“you were behind my bench, and you. well,” he says with a shrug, but he’s clearly a little embarrassed, finally putting those hands away — weapons of eddie destruction, he thinks — and shoving them into his pockets of his tight slacks. “i should be getting back out there.”
“do you? you’re murdering them pretty good, unless i black out and missed them getting four more goals,” eddie says.
the corners of steve’s eyes crinkle when he smiles. eddie thinks he might just pass out again. “no, we’re still gonna cinch it, i think. looks bad, though — first time coach missing the final period so’s he can hit on the cute musician who got his clock cleaned by the biscuit.”
“oh,” he says. swallows. “uh.”
steve’s crinkly, smiley eyes go wide. “unless—“
“no less!” eddie shouts and then immediately winces. at a better, less damaging to his more than slightly concussed noggin, volume, he says, “more, actually. because pretty sure i shouldn’t be left unsupervised, and i’ve clearly been abandoned by the band, so—“
“so,” says steve.
“coach, two minutes!” someone calls.
“so, i was hoping maybe i could keep hitting on the hot hockey coach back at his?”
“i’m at the ramada inn,” he says, “and i got tape to watch for the finals.”
“i live for room service,” eddie tells him seriously. “and i’m suddenly very into wisconsin sports teams.”
“coach! go time!”
“yeah?” he asks.
“yeah.”
“COACH!”
he jerks a thumb over his shoulder. “i gotta — but, uh, later?”
“pick me up in twenty?”
“probably more like half an hour, with stoppage,” he says.
someone bangs on the door. “COACH!! let’s boogie!!”
with one last look, wide eyed and smiling, steve leaves. eddie watches him go. he’d heard hockey players were caked up but lord — eddie is about to convert to a new religion, or maybe found one, over the stretch of those slacks.
“damn,” he says quietly.
“gross,” a woman says. eddie startles and looks to the side, where a lanky brunette with a bob and an undercut is staring at him, unimpressed. she’s in some get up that screams athletic trainer, and there’s a white board in her hand.
“how long have you been there?” he asks.
she raises an eyebrow. “long enough, and honestly, i don’t know if that counts as a you rule for him, or a you suck for you,” she says and does not elaborate when he asks. “also don’t look at him like that. it’s steve. he’s basically my sister.”
“yeah? any tips then?” asks eddie. “i promise i’ll only use them for good. well. mostly.”
“god,” she says with an expansive eye roll. “you’re gonna be a nightmare, aren’t you?”
a cheer goes up outside the room as the teams, presumably, take the ice again. eddie, head throbbing, concussed, embarrassed, grins. “sure hope so,” he says.

Padawan Learner
Mrs Vettel, ex Williams driver, current McLaren driver, can't drive while pregnant. Although she's contracted until 2026, she can't drive while she's with child. But she can't stay away from racing, and can't help but take the Williams rookie under her wing.
Sebastian Vettel x Reader, (Platonic) Logan Sargeant x Reader
Warnings: Brief description of smut
She wasn't supposed to retire at the same time as her husband. He felt as if he was at the end of his career and there was nothing more he could offer to the sport, so he retired. He'd had his glory years in Red Bull, moved to Ferrari, every racers dream, and ended things in Aston Martin, alongside his wife's old teammate.
She still had more race left in her. She'd been with Williams for years, racing alongside Valteri Bottas, Lance Stroll, George Russell, and, later, Alex Albon. But then she moved to McLaren, a team she felt would help her fight for wins.
Her husband very thoroughly celebrated the beginning of his retirement. She found herself stuffed full of cum almost every day of winter break.
It shouldn't have been a surprise when they got pregnant. But she wanted to murder Sebastian. For all of five seconds she wanted to drown him in their pool. But, after that five seconds passed, she was overjoyed, wrapping her arms around Sebastians neck and pulling him in for a kiss.
She told McLaren and they pulled Oscar Piastri in for the year. That was how he got his first drive in F1. All because Sebastian Vettel was incredibly horny, but he didn't need to know this.
She might not have been able to drive, but she still wanted to be trackside whenever she could. Her old team gave her this opportunity. She didn't hang around the McLaren garage, as she had half expected.
No, it was Williams and the new team Principle, James Vowles, who gave her somewhere to be during the season. Even in preseason testing, she was there, watching the Williams.
It was great to be in the garage with Lily again. She'd always liked Lily, thought she was great for Alex when they first met. After her move to McLaren she rarely got to see Lily, and as much as she hated sitting in the garage, it was nice to be sat in the garage with her.
Alex was a great driver. Any advice a veteran like her could have offered him, he already knew.
But then there was his teammate.
She watched Logan from his very first race weekend. She had known about the rookie for a couple of years now and had watched him succeed in Formula Two.
But now, in the Williams tractor, he was struggling. Week after week after week he was finishing outside of the points, or he wasn't finishing at all. She really felt for him.
"Hey," she said after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Logan hadn't spoken to anybody since he got out of the car and did all that he needed to do. Clearly he was struggling. He didn't say anything, just looked up.
She stood beside him. At her stage of pregnancy she could have gotten down to the floor to sit with him, but she wouldn't have been able to get up without help. Her hand rested on her bump as she looked down at him.
"I still remember my first season in Formula One," she said as she looked at the retired car. "It was 2013 and Seb was set to win the championship. I was in my first year in Williams and I think I only finished maybe ten races," she said with a laugh.
"Wait, seriously?" Asked Logan as he looked up.
She nodded her head. "I crashed out of most, or the car fell apart on me. Most people wondered why I had a seat for the next year, but Williams saw potential in me. I know they see it in you, too."
Every time Logan didn't finish a race, every time he came dead last, she was there. Nobody could comfort her like she did. Sometimes Seb joked that they might as well adopt him, and Logan agreed. Most up and down paddock called Logan her padawan learner, which was very fitting.
Logan began being the person she spent the most time with when Sebastian wasn't there. He'd looked up to her for many years and having her support meant the world to him. He was there for her too, making sure she had somewhere to sit and something to drink whenever she needed it.
In September, a month before her due date, Sebastian begged her to stop travelling. Just in case he wanted her home with him, where he could take care of her. They still watched every race together and she made sure to send Logan a good luck text before every practice session, qualifying, and race.
When Logan got his first points, nobody celebrated more than Sebastian Vettels wife. She was so proud of him, even if those points were because of two disqualifications. She posted a picture of him and her from a previous race on Instagram like a proud mum. Funnily enough, Logan comments 'thanks mom' on the post.
Just two weeks after this, her water broke. Sebastian got her to the hospital. He stayed by her side, holding her hand through the hours of excruciating labour.
Leon Vettel didn't cry when he was born. He was so quiet, that it actually scared his mother. But the doctors and nurses assured the new parents that he was perfectly healthy.
He was their perfect little man.
She insisted on asking Logan to be Leons godfather. They had grown so close over the last few months that it seemed fitting.
Logan accepted. As soon as the Vettels could, they were taking Leon to races. Or, Sebastian took Leon to races, to watch his mother race. Of course he was wearing a Williams hat and McLaren shirt.
"Papa," Leon said at four years old after watching the Australian Grand Prix qualifying session.
"What is it, my little man?" Asked Sebastian as he sat Leon on his lap.
"I wanna be like mama and Uncle Logan," he said, and Sebastian couldn't stop himself from grinning.

I think Max will either retire or move to Ferrari in 2027
OUR LESBIAN FERRARI PROPHET SAYS SO? DROP THE TIMELINE
Okay okay anon walk with me.
So I think Lewis is Ready for Retirement. I think he would've retired at Mercedes, eighth championship be damned, if Mercedes had just given him an ambassador contract so he could've used his position and his brand for the causes he wants to dedicate the second half of his life to. As is, Mercedes refused to give him that contract (which, I could go on for AGES about how blindly ridiculous that is and is a clear marker of how far this sport still has to go re: racism)–but Ferrari did.
However, to be a Ferrari ambassador, a 2+1 year race contract accompanies it. Obviously this is a good move for Lewis anyway since it's looking like Ferrari will be one of the quickest teams moving into 2025 and Lewis must have some information on how they might nail the regulation change come 2026, but, and this may be controversial. Charles Leclerc is an established driver at Ferrari, the absolute darling of the tifosi (I mean, he's the second most important person in Italy after the literal pope), and most importantly he's a driver that has not yet hit his ceiling. Now, this is where I tread carefully, but I believe that Lewis, in comparison, is past his prime. Sure, he pulled off an incredible drive at Silverstone this year but he has not been able to match George–and George I believe is currently at a lower level than Charles. I have a sneaking suspicion that Charles is, well, going to walk all over Lewis next year. And if Lewis truly has only moved for the sake of the ambassador contract, he'll break the racing contract after 2 years.
Okay but Ollie is supposedly lined up for that Ferrari seat, and Ferrari NEED an order of succession, so who says that Max will take it?
Red Bull Racing is falling apart at the seams (sorry RB fans). Christian Horner is a power-hungry [REDACTED] who will bring the whole team down with him. The Thai side have never really cared about the Formula 1 team (and I know from Sources, backed Christian Horner in this whole fiasco which is why CH wasn't fired). Newey is gone, I'm sure other key figures will get pinched in the next couple of years, Max has kept everything together for pure skill this past year but the writing is on the wall. I'm going to hold everyone's hands when I say this, but I don't think Red Bull are winning either championships next year....
However, for as much as Max loves to talk about it, I don't think he's actually ready for retirement. I also don't think he'll be the type of guy to retire on a low. Max's contract is until 2028, but he can break it if he drops to P3 in the championship, which, I think there's a non-zero chance of happening in 2026 especially under new regulations/brand new engines.
So Ferrari are likely going to nail the new regs, Max doesn't want to retire on a low, and it looks like Ferrari shopping for a driver and Max wanting to leave Red Bull will line up within roughly the same window.
There's also a couple of sentimental reasons I want to point to. Max (as much as he tries to deny it) is a victim of the old Red Bull Golden Boy curse of being a Ferrari fan. I mean, he literally grew up in the Schumacher era, with his father being friends with Schumacher. He's stated multiple times how if he can't hear the Dutch anthem on the podium he'd like to hear the Italian one. I suspect deep down, he's much more of a tifoso than any of us realise.
There's also the Charles Leclerc of it all. Now really walk with me here because this is tenuous and yes is coming from a known Lestappie (tomato tomato) but isn't really a Lestappen argument.
Charles throughout his entire career has been obsessed with measuring himself up against those who are considered the "best of the best" and showing that he can beat them. He ate Seb alive, he'll likely do the same with Lewis. But both of these are drivers past their primes, at the very end of their lifespans. Charles has still yet to prove he can go toe to toe with a great at their prime and win.
Charles is, literally obsessed, with comparing himself to Max in interviews. Now (RIGHTLY SO) we Lestappies all point and laugh and call him a little obsessed but there's a very real publicity reason he wants to insist to everyone how him and Max were on each other's level in karting–people will subconsciously start to associate Charles as being on Max's level even if he hasn't proven it with championships. It's a very calculated move by Charles, and one I haven't seen many people discuss. Charles wants his name and Max's to be said in the same sentence because it validates Charles' own skill.
But Charles doesn't want to be known as Max's equal, not really, what he really wants is to be considered better than Max. And if he can't do that through number of championships, he can do it by putting the two of them in equal machinery. I think Charles will actually push Ferrari into trying to sign Max, because this is the way he can cement himself firmly as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time.
So I think a perfect storm of these combination of different factors will result in a Max to Ferrari move in 2027. Obviously all pure speculation, but drawing everything together, I'd give it maybe a 50% chance (providing Ferrari actually do come together which, Forza).

Why are you an Uber Driver? - Liam Lawson x Teammate! Reader
Plot: Liam Lawson finally gets a seat in F1 signing with Audi Formula Racing in 2026 along with you the fiery new rookie, when you get a sponsor with Uber and have to shoot promos what happens?
A/N: I have taken some of these moments from Darren Levy, some of them are just random crap i've thought off! This is supposed to be short and silly and feel like your almost watching the video or like watching a tiktok compellation!
Credit to umflowers for the GIF
In a YouTube Video:
"Hey guys so today Liam and I are here with Audi and we are happy to announce one of our new sponsors is Uber!" you say looking at the camera a massive smile on your face.
"Today we are partnered with Uber to get you guys to your destinations" Liam adds swinging an arm around your shoulder.
"We've kindly been gifted an Audi RS E-tron GT to use as our Uber car. Its one of the fastest models in Audi and all electric its a beauty" you explain as you walk over to the car with Liam following behind you.
"Black car" Liam says pointing to the car jokingly after your detailed explanation.
"Whose driving first! Me or you?" you ask turning to him.
"Mmmm definitely you" he says before running round to the passenger side of the car and hopping in.
"Okay, so Audi have been very kind an set up a profile for us called Li/N (Liam and your name mixed) and used this awesome picture of Y/N and I" he says showing off the Uber profile that was on the phone.
"Okay, lets pick up our first person" you smile working out how to accept a ride.
"Bobby Knight, we are coming from you!" Y/N giggles excitedly pulling out the large overhead carpark they were in. She had one hand on the wheel and one hand on the gear stick. She follows the directions and eventually pulls into a quiet side street.
"Hello, for Bobby?" the man asks getting into the car flinging his briefcase the the other seat of the car.
"Oh i thought the guy was the driver. I guess you do it together ... cute" he says briefly looking up from his work phone. You took it a little slower just testing the waters, making sure before you pulled out that you knew where the destination was.
"Look, I'm going to a business meeting. Can you just make this a quick job" he sighs looking over at you. Before he can blink, your driving the car how it was built for, obviously safely and within the speed limits but still driving quicker than most Uber's would.
"Jheezus, you can drive" he says laughing a little making a chuckle come from Liam beside you.
"I mean, its my career. You'd expect me to be" she says smugly knowing that if he wasn't a fan he wouldn't actually know what she was going on about.
"Here you go sir" you say pulling up outside the building you requested and he thanked you before hopping out quickly.
"Okay lets switch" you say before it cuts to you and Liam in the opposite places in the car.
"Okay next ride we are picking up Abbey" Liam says having accepted another ride. He quickly drives there while you mess about with the radio finally connecting your phone to the Car Play. Ladbroke Grove by AJ Tracey started playing and you and Liam both started rapping and you drove through the busy streets with the window rolled down.
"Hey babes, got some mates with me yeah? Going to the Xidao Bar?" she says as she comes up to the window the was rolled down. Her and the two mates clamber into the back all squishing in.
"I love you dress, looking like fire girl" you say swinging round looking over the brunette in the middle. She blushed lightly, thanking you before both her friends start to tease her in the back.
"So you girls got a good night ahead?" you ask looking at them in the rear view mirror.
"Yeah, going pub crawling!" the blonde exclaims before whipping out a mirror and lipstick.
"Oh my gosh" the brunette in the middle exclaims her head shooting up.
"You guys are F1 drivers right?" she says looking at the both of them.
"You drive for Audi"
"Yeah!" you laugh. She asks for a picture and you offer her one once you pull up to the club, she gives you a hug and leaves with her equally confused friends.
"Switch"
"Oh my lord and jheez is that two people shaking up in that car? In the middle of the day?" Liam exclaims looking out the drivers side window, past your concentrated head. You look onwards to see what he is exactly looking at.
"Holy shit my eyes!" you cry looking at the intrusion.
"Damn that wild, he is going at it" Liam observes making you slap your hand over his eyes.
"Don't look Liam!"
"It's the middle of the god damn day Y/N its hard to miss"
"No awareness of their surroundings at all" you complain laughing along with Liam.
You reverse out the space, putting your arm round the back of Liam's seat turning the steering wheel with one hand.
"Oh for fuck sake that's going to be in one of your edits, all over tik-tok" he laughs, looking at the position you were in currently driving.
"Okay we have another ride"
"Corey?"
"This is far too nice to be an Uber car" he says getting in the back carefully as you look at the destination which was a 12 minute ride away.
"Yeah, its a company car mate, wish she was mine" you offer, while keeping your eyes on the road.
"Y/N you don't need a company car you're rich, you have an R8 and a vintage Audi at home" Liam laughs before the guys gives you both a strange look.
"Oh my god, your both F1 drivers!" he exclaims.
"That we are sir" you beam looking in the rearview at him.
"Nice race in Spain by the way!" he smiles.
"Thanks! We are both very excited!" you exclaim happy that you were having a conversation with a fan.
"So why are you guys Uber driving?" he asks.
"Well, we have a sponsor with Uber and we thought this would be a funny promo video!"
"That's pretty cool, I'll actually be in Silverstone actually" he says showing Liam his tickets.
"Ohhh, well on behalf of Audi, ill get you a paddock pass for being a 5 star customer today!" you offer and he gasps in shock.
"Thank you so much!" he exclaims before you hand him contact details for where he can get his pass from on the day of the race.
"Your welcome have a nice day" he exclaims and before you know it you and Liam have switched again and he's back to driving.
"I'm getting kind of hungry, Maccas drive through on the company card?" Liam grins cheekily making you nod vigorously. You were starving having not eaten since the morning and it was now rounding late afternoon.
You pull up to the drive threw and the voice sounds out.
"Hello, what can i get for you today" the bored yet youthful voice says behind the order board.
"Hi so I'm going to get a Medium Bic Mac meal, with chips and ermmmm I'll get a coke" he advises before looking at you. You just shove your phone in his face, asking him to say it for you.
"Anything else?"
"Yeah, erm A Garlic Mayo Wrap meal with Carrot sticks? Carrot sticks really? Who the fuck goes to a McDonalds and gets Carrot Sticks, erm and an Oasis please" Liam finishes shaking his head at you in disagreement.
"Anything else"
"Yeah a medium chips and a nugget sharebox" he informs and you look at him in shock, he just shrugs his shoulder pulling forward to the next window.
"What I'm hungry, the nuggets are to share and the chips are for you" he smiles.
You both make a little tray in the middle of the car so you can eat without being messy.
"So, on a scale of one-ten how strict are you parents" you ask after biting into your wrap and chewing the contents.
"Hmmm, well my parents have always been pretty chill! They push me when it comes to racing but other than that they are supportive but in a good way" he smiles.
"So answer the question" you comment looking at him with an 'are you fr?' attitude.
"Oh so like a two, no really that strict at all"
"What's been the best meal of you life"
"This right here with you" he smiles genuinely and you cant be sure if the cameras pick up the light blush that is grazing across your cheeks.
"This crappy McDonalds, in an expensive Audi is your best meal?" you tease back, taking a sip of your drink.
"Mmmhhh" he mumbles smiling.
"Okay, what about your favorite place in the world?"
"See this one is hard, because I move around so much as a driver. You know for most of the year I'm going from country to country driving in one of the most competitive sports. New Zealand has a special place in my heart, but at the same time England has become extremely special to me" he smiles again.
You guys finish up the food, and you end on a group of fan boys who all asked to get pictures with the both of you and the car. Liam drove down the motorway and they were all squealing like little girls by the time you dropped them outside of Stamford Bridge Stadium.
"Enjoy the match boys" you shout.
"Have you ever been to a English Premier League game? We should go. I know Mason Mount, he could get us in" you wiggle your eyebrows.
And that's how you and Liam Lawson ending up watching a Chelsea FC match very very last minute.

Red Bull was known to be ruthless, and they rarely moved up their junior drivers. That did not stop you from joining their junior program. You loved the team, the benefits, and the knowledge you could learn from them.
Well, when the news hit that Red Bull was promoting not one but two junior drivers to VCARB for the 2026 season, shit hit the fan. Then, when people realized that one of those drivers was a girl, shit really came crashing down.
You knew this would happen. It happened when you first joined Hitech in F2, and you expected it when you eventually moved up to F1. Most of the haters dwindled down when you and Arvid pulled a 2021 like season in F2 since it kept everyone interested, but ultimately, they came flooding back when you won by a singular point. You had grown since the start of the season, so you took their criticism with a grain of salt and moved on.
At least you did on the outside.
Sometimes, you couldn’t stop yourself from falling down the rabbit hole that is Twitter (X) and Instagram comments. You would rather know everything they said than work yourself up over what they could be saying. Call it one of your red flags, but you did not want to remain unaware of their backlash.
Arvid had caught you in that rabbit hole on more occasions than he wanted to admit, and yeah, he got his fair share of hate. His was nowhere near the amount you got. He tried convincing you to get someone else to manage your social media accounts, but you always declined. Who else would post the not-so professional pictures you take during the weekend? Certainly not a professional staff who is in charge of making you look professional.
The first race of the season was already off to a shitty start. You were a few minutes late to the media pin, and everyone started speculating that you were sleeping with Red Bull or VCARB staff for your seat. In reality, you were meeting with the staff to discuss how to go about addressing the hate.
You tried to clear it up with the first interviewer, but he was one of the haters. He immediately started poking at how there’s no way a girl like you could get a seat based on pure talent on track. When you asked what he meant by that, he chuckled and said, “Clearly, you have talents behind closed doors.”
That was the straw that broke the camel’s back as you immediately turned and left the pin, trying to get back to your garage before you had a full breakdown. You heard the main reporter and a few nearby interviewers laugh as you made your hasty exit, and that made the situation worse as nearby fans heard the commotion and pulled out their phones. The way the pitlane was set up, you had to walk past all of the fans to get back to your garage. Just the thought made your heart rate quicken if that was even possible.
It did not take long for Arvid to notice your lack of presence next to him or in the media pin at all. Usually, you two stuck together since you were on the same team, but you both also found comfort in being next to each other. Many people thought it would have caused a rift in your relationship competing against each other but given that you were together for almost a year before you started your F2 campaigns, you were up for the challenge. Plus, you were naturally competitive to begin with, so it made your bond stronger.
He looked around for you, confused, before he briefly spotted your back retreating out the back of the pin. He gently excused himself, but even the interviewer could tell Arvid’s attention was elsewhere. It looked like Arvid was on autopilot, and he was as he felt gravity pulling him toward you.
It did not take him long to be right up behind you, and that’s when he realized the “fans” had practically caged you in as they shouted at you. Profanities and derogatory terms were being thrown at you left and right in any language, and Arvid knew he had to get you out of there.
He quickly wrapped an arm over your shoulders as he pulled you into his chest, shielding you from the chaos, and began backing out of the center to find a way out. Thankfully, there was no one blocking behind him, so he was able to just go back the way he came and take the back way around to the VCARB garage.
The garage wasn’t too far, but it felt like an eternity for you. Your heart was racing, and despite knowing it was Arvid taking you to safety, it didn’t help calm you down. You didn’t even register that he had gotten you all the way to his driver’s room until he pushed you to sit on his couch while he kneeled in front of you. He moved one of your hands to rest against his neck as he kept the other in his.
“You’re doing great,” He said quietly as he used his thumb to rub across your knuckles while taking deeper breaths, “Can you breathe with me?”
It took him repeating it a few times, but soon enough, you caught on and began to take struggled breaths in time with him. You finally started to register the noise (or lack thereof) around you. There were no screaming fans or condescending reporters. No camera clicking or shouts of displeasure.
It was silent for once. You were finally able to hear your own thoughts and think clearly for the first time this whole weekend. Your eyes cleared as you made eye contact with your concerned boyfriend who was still grounding you in the way he had learned a long time ago, causing you to smile.
“Thank you, Arvid,” You whispered as he moved the hand still entwined with your hand up to rest against your cheek. “You always know what to do.”
“I’m always here to pick you back up, and I’m always here to tell you that everybody else is stupid,” He said with a chuckle as he started in the routine speech he gives you wherever the hate gets too much. “What have these people done? Nothing but shit on your parade. You are the first female F2 winner. You are the first female in an F1 since the 90s or something. I am confident you will be the first female on an F1 podium and definitely the first female to win an F1 race. Maybe both in one go, but we’ll see when we get there.”
“Stop blowing my nonexistent horn here,” You tried to dismiss as you gently pushed at his shoulder. “You’re giving me more credit than I deserve.”
“Absolutely not!” Arvid interrupted before moving to cup your face between his hands as he squished your cheeks and shook your head. “You deserve the world, and it’s my job to build you up. I won’t stop until you finally believe it.”
“And what if I never do?” You chuckled but it came out a little weird since he was still squishing your face.
“Then I guess I’ll never stop.”

A lot of talk on Twitter about Max taking that Mercedes seat more seriously especially with 2026. With his loyalty to Helmut plus he’s said several times he’s already achieved everything he wanted to in f1, personally I think redbull would have to have a major slip into a bottom tier team for him to even consider moving but curious on your thoughts on him moving before 2028?
Max been very clear on this, he'll stay as long as he can fight for wins. The moment he doesnt he'll either turn fully into endurance or, if merc are competitive and the seat is still available, sure, he'll go to merc. If that happens before 2028 or not, I really cant tell u. Rb20 is already 'bottom tier' in low temperatures. Max was in Silverstone asking for 4 clicks in the wing even considering the track thats a massive amount of understeer like its frankly no surprise Checo is driving the way he is because once u get to those inshallah type of setups Max goes into generational survival mode and Checo just doesnt have the facilities to do to the same. This is not like 2023 when u have two drivers being given dominant packages and one of them does his best and the other is Max Verstappen. Checo an experienced, solid driver, but these are not the conditions he was promised signing that extension. I think rbr is using Checos 'expected' deficit to Max to hide how lackluster development has been this season and thats concerning to me because its only a matter of time until Max runs out of ways to extend that championship lead. 😐😐 So lmfao all this bs to tell u I do think Max values the people he has around him rn and like u said a huge drop in performance wud be needed for him to give up on the project and 'leave them behind'. But like wid Lewis ur starting to c a disconnect between management and driver that will either be mended thru performance or unravel completely.
#ask#he can afford to ask for a better car#hes smart and hes got a killer manager whtvr he does in the future it will be wid a clear head and a clear conscience#thats all i can be certain of rn tbh#🌷#long post

maybe it’s just because i’m a fan of max, but sometimes it annoys me how f1 fans get so happy when he doesn’t finish a race. i understand that it’s boring to see the same person win all the time, and personally there are drivers that i would absolutely love to see win a grand prix (lando, charles, lewis, etc.), but it just rubs me the wrong way to see fans make tiktoks about how the australian gp was beautiful just because max didn’t finish it, and that they hope stuff like this happens for the rest of the season, etc., joke or not.
i just don’t get why people hate max’s success so much when we’re literally witnessing history being made (especially last year’s season). max verstappen’s prime years are some of the most impressive in all of f1, and i feel like more people need to recognize that. it’s amazing that a driver can perform on such a high level and get the best possible performance out of a car so consistently.
i don’t want it to seem like i’m irritated because max didn’t win or something. i think it’s boring when max is out in front with a 20 second gap; i want to see him have proper fights with other drivers that push both of them to the limit. i want to watch someone beat max after battling with him the whole gp, rather than a driver beating/catching up to max because of mechanical issues. it made me so happy to see carlos win a race, knowing that ferrari dropped him for lewis and left him without a seat. it was amazing to see carlos prove that ferrari made a mistake and he’s worthy of a seat in the future, whether that’s next year or 2026. that being said, i would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if max had been able to challenge him.
max as a driver is ridiculously impressive, he has a great personality, and he deserves more support. fans shouldn’t be celebrating because he was knocked out of a race by mechanical issues.
#max verstappen#red bull racing#australian gp 2024#maybe i’m overreacting#idk why but it gets under my skin#maybe i just feel bad for max after seeing how mad he was after he got out of the car#can you imagine losing a gp-finishing streak like max’s due to soemthing totally out of your control?#i’d be pissed#the australian gp was crazy#i was so scared for george too#congratulations carlos 🎉🎉

2025 Daniel is with vcarb but I hope in 2026 another team is interested in him. I hate the RedBull for using Daniel as a media dupe and he got a lot of hate for competing for that seat and in the end they signed 11, forgetting even Yuki.
You truly misunderstand who Daniel is as a competitor and person
When he said he wants to end his career at red bull, he knew it was going to be a long process that requires patience and hard work. And since the start of this year, Daniel has shown nothing but patience and hard work. Every time any journalist has asked him about 2025, he’s constantly reiterated he’s not thinking about it because he knows he needs to work on himself and that his performance on track is the biggest indicator of his future prospects
The post-McLaren Daniel knows his strengths, but most importantly he knows his weaknesses. People choose to ignore the purposeful and mindful way he’s going racing now, because Daniel knows he has more than a few years of competition left in him and he’s choosing to get to the red bull seat in a sustainable way rather than just because the guy currently in that seat is underperforming

but lets be honest why didnt they just pick Yuki for the seat? They stopped him from going to a better Team in the summer by extending his contract. So why not put him next to Max? He has the expireince and has been in the junior Team for god knows way to long. Do they just want to keep him as a benchmark for the other drivers forever? And even if he should be leaving to Aston in 2026, why not give him the Redbull for just one year and let Liam do a full season in a sister Team with less preassure on him? Liam is more prepared to take over in 2026 if they were to do it that way.
Also completly unrelated but I hear one more Person say that Liam is o so agressive, with Yuki it is a problem but when a white guy does it its good and desireble?
I'm not sure you can say they stopped him from going to a better team with the contract extension, it's not like another seat was definitely there for him, especially with how unstable the market was this year.
But yeah they should have chosen him. If only to check definitively whether he can make it in a top team or not.
They shot themselves in the foot by bringing Ricciardo back instead of giving Lawson the experience. If he'd been in that car from the start instead of Ricciardo, he'd be more prepared although still not as much as Yuki and still maybe not as fast. And now instead of bringing him to the junior team so he can develop properly, they throw him in the big team directly? When they didn't deem him good enough to get that junior seat instead of Ricciardo in the first place?
Yuki has improved tremendously but they were very unhappy with his attitude and inconsistencies early on (and yes this is in part rooted in racism and I think it's stupid af, I'm not justifying it) and God knows RBR seems to make their opinions very quickly. Meanwhile Lawson impressed when he had to jump in to replace Ricciardo. It's like RBR can't take in new info to update their own opinions of their drivers. They take their first impression and run with it.
Yuki also seems to be in a difficult position being a Honda driver at the end of the Honda - RBR partnership. I think they might find it difficult to justify putting him in the main team when he might follow Honda when they leave. It's still a bad decision because even IF he leaves, and we don't know if that might be the case yet, they could still put him in the main team while he's there and if he does well that's good for them and that buys some time for Lawson to learn some more in VCARB in the meantime (as you said); and if he doesn't do well they could still swap them midseason as they've done before + it justifies them not keeping him in the seat with all the data to make it make sense + ultimately if that's what they want to do it would justify them getting rid of him entirely.
There's literally no good reason not to put Yuki in the redbull even if their end goal was to fire him. It's entirely irrational.

alright so carlos ISN'T going to red bull (rip my versainz dreams I'm going to fly over to Milton Keynes and Austria and commit crimes against humanity)
where is he going to go?
I am going to analyse each option and rate them from most to least likely. (They are placed in no particular order, by the way)
Audi
PROS:
they are focusing on the new regulations.
they have been vocal about wanting Sainz to be their driver.
it was his father's team.
he has partnered Hülkenberg before, and so there is some familiarity.
CONS:
it is a risk, not just for 2025, but they might not pan out to be that good of a constructor.
there's talk that they have already given up on getting him, and he missed out.
Chance of it happening: 65%
Personal rating: 8/10
Williams
PROS:
rumour has it that he has already signed with them for 2 years, so he can play musical chairs again in 2026, with the new regulations in place
(can't see any more pros right now i hate this option tell me if you can think of any)
CONS:
Williams does not have the budget for anything.
he would have to go in as a second driver, as I doubt James Vowles is going to prioritise him over Alex Albon.
Chance of it happening: 80%
Personal rating: 4/10
Mercedes
PROS:
he would have a seat for the next year or two, and he can do musical chairs again closer to the new regulations getting implemented.
Mercedes is (more-or-less) a good team, with the oportunity to make a solid car (unfortunately the w15 is not that car).
CONS:
he would be the seat warmer for Kimi Antonelli, who could come into F1 earlier than expected.
he would have to play second-fiddle to George (or the other way around), and that could cause conflict.
Chance of it happening: 70%
Personal rating: 7/10
Alpine
PROS:
they are very focused on the future regulations' car, which could be good for him if decides to stick around.
CONS:
the current car is shit.
the team is changing management all the time.
Chance of it happening: 45%
Personal rating: 3/10
Haas
PROS:
they are a decent team this season
he could join up until 2026, and then he can indulge in silly season again.
CONS:
he would be warming Ollie Bearman's seat, if he isn't joining next season already.
Chance of it happening: 55%
Personal rating: 5/10
Overall, I think Carlos' best options are either:
Joining Mercedes (or any other team but Mercedes would be a better idea) until 2026, where he can then: try to get that Red Bull seat, or join another team.
Joining Audi and staying there. He can help the team develop, along with Nico, and maybe even break into the top 5 teams if Audi turns out to be really good.
Basically, he can either take a series of risks to stay in the front of the grid, or take a massive bet on Audi. Or retire, but, y'know, I wouldn't want that personally.

I just saw the funniest take on Twitter and it still has me flabbergasted. So apparently because Oscar didn’t get DRS from Lando, he lost out on a podium in Canada and should be looking at other teams. The team are trying to sabotage him by always giving Lando the faster strategy (even though he got the preferential ones in Jeddah and Monaco).
Also because he didn’t post his post-race tweet until yesterday that it’s clear he’s deeply unhappy with the team. Someone did a really good thread on the McLaren strategy and if they made the right call but it’s full of ‘Piastri’ fans saying they sabotaged his race.
Anyways, some fans made Instagram stories and tweets and tagged Mark Webber to try get him out of his contract at McLaren. I’m so curious at where they think he could go? Ferrari and Redbull have their lineups secured, plus Mark Webber is hardly going to encourage him to go to Redbull. Mercedes have decided to go all in on Antonelli and Aston have their line up secured too. Do they want him to go back to Alpine? To join Stake and suffer?
I understand it’s frustrating when the driver you like and want to do well doesn’t get the result you wanted for them. McLaren clearly want him, they wouldn’t have signed him until 2026 if that wasn’t the case, he’s doing a good job with them. He and Lando are working well together, they seem to get on well and are working to get McLaren up there and fighting every week. It just feels like some of these people don’t watch the races or understand why certain decisions are made.
Sorry for the rant 😭
He should be looking at…BITCH WHAT?
Look where? Please tell me because that McLaren is a rocket ship where else is he going to find one?? Red bull and their broken car, next to Max Verstappen? He’ll have a lot more to moan about over there than not getting dragged along by Lando, that’s for sure. Ferrari, who have Lewis Hamilton and Il Predestinatio not mention have just got their own academy driver a seat? And that’s not even touching on the questionable strategy. Merc, who have all but given the seat to Antonelli? Anywhere else is looking backwards and a waste of his talent.
So where can he go?
And why should he go? Because Lando let him fall out of DRS range? If he wanted the DRS that badly he needed to stay in range of the guy driving the same car. Sorry to say it but they’re having this discussion like Oscar was only a passenger and not the person who ultimately controls his pace. You want to stay ahead of George? Be faster. I’m sure Oscar doesn’t want to rely on Lando for the outcome of his race. Why do people who call themselves fans of Oscar think he should be counting on anything but his own ability? Ludicrous.
McLaren have to think about getting the largest amount of points with two cars. Oscar has to think about Oscar. Lando has to think about Lando. The balance of these three agendas is what makes F1 fun to watch. If everyone is playing the team game all the time what would we be watching?
People are on some next shit istg

Schumacher To Leave Mercedes F1 Reserve Role At End of 2024
The German driver is keen to pursue other opportunities in racing
Mick Schumacher will depart from his reserve driver position at Mercedes at the end of the season, as Valtteri Bottas looks set to assume the role for 2025. The German joined the team as reserve at the start of 2023, after losing his Haas Formula 1 seat to Nico Hulkenberg at the end of 2022. Schumacher, who also left the Ferrari Driver Academy, linked up with Mercedes, whom his father Michael had driven for between 2010 and 2012. After two years at the team Schumacher has elected to depart in order to pursue other opportunities, although this will not be a race drive in F1 next year, as there are no realistic options left. Schumacher had been in the conversation for the second Sauber seat alongside Hulkenberg, but this went to F2 championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto. He stated that his focus was "100% on racing" in 2025; Schumacher dovetailed his Mercedes reserve role with an Alpine drive in the World Endurance Championship. "I am grateful to Toto and the entire Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team for the insight I have gained over these two years," Schumacher said. "They have undoubtedly made me a more experienced racing driver, because I have got to know the engineering side better. But watching these cars race and not sitting in the cockpit myself is tough. I want to get back to focusing 100% on racing. I want to be fully committed to the sporting side of motorsport. Ultimately, it is racing that you want to do as a driver. It is racing that gives you that feeling you love." Team principal and CEO Toto Wolff thanked Schumacher for his efforts and accepted the 25-year-old's explanation that he wished to pursue a full racing programme in 2025. "Mick's hard work, diligence, and determination in his role as reserve driver has been vital for the team over the past two years," said Wolf. "From his work in the simulator, testing of various cars, and being part of the trackside team, we couldn't have asked for any more from him. From day one he fitted into the team with ease and has become an incredibly well-liked colleague for everyone at Brackley and Brixworth. However, Mick is first and foremost a racing driver. We have seen from both his time in F1 and this year with his performances in the World Endurance Championship that he is a racer of an incredibly high calibre and one that deserves to be competing in the very best championships. As he moves on to his next challenge, I would like to thank Mick personally for his contribution to our team and we all wish him the very best in his future endeavours." It is unknown where Schumacher will race in 2025, but he may be one of many drivers with F1 experience in contention for a Cadillac drive when the team enters the championship in 2026.

Lando might be cocky now, but put him in Lewis' or Max' shoes in a season like 2021. The up and downs. The close fights. That last race in Abu Dhabi. Lando would crumble. Lando would bottle it. No doubt. Which is why I think Lando will never be a WDC.
I really hope Oscar will give him hell rather sooner than later. People forget that it's only the second season for Oscar and he's performing really well. Oscar is WDC material.
(Yet I can still see McLaren throw away a victory for Oscar because they do not want their precious man child to feel like the second driver)
Absolutely. Dare I even say put Lando in Ferrari 2022, I think he would retire. There's a reason why Lewis and Max are WDCs and why Charles over every other driver, even Lando, is hailed as the next WDC. Let's talk about Nico Rosberg shaving paint off his helmet and changing diet to lose 500g, Max wanting to just go to his mother's house for a week after 2021–a WDC fight is as much a mental battle as it is one of skill. If Lando enters a title fight, his opponent would be one of Max, Charles, or Oscar. Max would not hesitate to resort to Max Max tactics, which I don't think Lando would be able to deal with. Charles would definitely utilise the power of the tifosi which means that Lando would lose his cool by the time he hits Monza and gets booed. And Oscar would be his teammate in a title fight and Oscar is just so much less bothered by everything compared to Lando, so Lando would twist himself in knots and make a fool of himself.
As much as I love Landoscar, the cracks are starting to show there. Oscar would have won Miami if McLaren had not pitted him first, he keeps getting fucked by strategy this season one way or another, but he's driving very close to Lando's level, and like you said he's only in his SECOND SEASON. Lando is in his SIXTH. McLaren will choose Lando any day because he's been with the team for longest (even in his junior career), but I think Oscar's already started asking questions, and I don't see him staying past 2026. I'm reminded of that WIRED video where Lando says of him and Oscar "we're rivals, but we have to pretend that we're besties". He was joking, but it made me pause and go "hm. interesting." We're going to see that fall apart, no doubt. Personally, I'm seated, and Oscar is a Leclerc so he gets me in the divorce.

So teach me - Sergio Perez x Trainee F1 Rookie! Reader
Plot: Sergio wants to take a year or two out leaving an open seat in Red Bull and who better for Christian Horner to get besides Red Bull is the Red Bull Trainee who was there reserve driver last year and has been training for this moment.
"Sergio, are you serious?" Christian asks his second Red Bull member, Sergio had just come to him telling him he wouldn’t be renewing his contract with Red Bull and that he felt 2025 was a good time to take some earned leave from the sport. and not fully retire he had requested to be a mentor for the youth Red Bull drivers. Before he took time with his family, he knew he'd come back in a year or two, but as of now his family were where he needed to be at.
“Yes, I’m being serious. I want to spend more time with my family” he admits. It was getting draining, the travelling back and forth and not seeing his wife and children for weekends on end.
“Okay, but I’m putting you with the hardest piece of work you’ll ever meet in Motorsports, she’s driven to succeed and is a phenomenal driver but she has … well let’s just say she isn’t the easiest person to get along with and she’s put us all through hell. So if you are serious about this, that's who you have to mentor. She's quite frankly the only person I trust to take your place" Christian said, already thinking about how the hell they are going to announce the new line up for 2025.
It was lucky really, Audi were coming onto the scope in 2026, and there was talk that they were keen on giving you a seat since you were doing so well. So maybe this was actually a good thing, as it scared Christian more thinking of you in an Audi than Sergio out of a Red Bull.
"She's in the back, you can go meet her" he advises pointing a pen towards the garage where they stored different components and the spare wheels.
He walked through looking for someone that would potentially be this absolute piece of work that Christian had made you out to be. You from the way described were clearly on the younger agenda of the grid and he knew communicating with you may be hard because of that but what he didn't expect was a complete and utter lunatic.
He took one look at you and assumed you were basically feral, you had your helmet on, stereo in hand walking towards the garage where his and Max's cars were banging your head to the loud and aggressive music.
"Oh lord" Sergio breathes out looking at you, already knowing this would be a long 3 months of him training you.
"Y/N please turn that down! We're trying to work" one of the engineers working on the car complains as he puts the power drill down on the edge, not wanting to mess anything up.
"Arghhh fine Marcino, but you know you love my music" you grinned taking your helmet off. Your curly hair came falling out around it, in messy knots.
"Y/N?" Sergio calls out and looks over to you, he steps forward into the garage and smiles at you extending a hand. You shake it, clearly you had some kind of manners and decorum, he couldn't help but think.
"What's up old man?" you stifle a laugh trying to look as serious as possible.
"Old man? I'm only 34!" he exclaims looking at his hands to see if he could in fact pass himself off as an old man.
"Well, old to me" you smirk, picking up the bottle of squash you'd left on the workbench earlier, taking a quick swig from it.
"So, long story short. This old man is going on leave for a year or two and retire..." he starts trying to explain his situation to you.
"Oh so you are old old" you laugh giving him a pointed look.
"No- look let me finish, I'm retiring my car for a few seasons and for whatever reason Christian Horner wants you to take my seat, but before you do that I'm going to be training you" he offers and you place a hand on your hip, almost daring him to continue.
"And why may i ask do i need you to train me for this?" you asks, obviously you knew he was good at his job. It was Sergio Perez stood in front of you but that didn't mean your demeanor was up to slip and slide and make you look like an incompetent nobody.
"Come on, surly even you know that. I'm the only Red Bull in the last few years that has been able to keep up with Verstappen, you wanna give into the pressure like Gasly and Albon or do you want me to show you how to drive on par with the current world champion" he asks crossing his arms like a strict parent.
"God jheez alright. What do you want? You want me doing pressup's or neck training. Or time testing. Or you wanting me to show you how i can drive?" you ask looking at him.
"You think Christian flew you out to Abu Dhabi as a special guest? No your our test drive for tonight in free practice and you'll be driving my car with Verstappen"
"Oh its on" you say. The engineers step back observing the car.
"Go get into the suit Christian left for you, it'll be your first Red Bull racing suit" he says patting your back making you shrug off.
"Don't touch me bro" you say giving him the side eye before going and changing into your fireproofs and your suit. Navy blue looked good on you, you left with the Red Bull cap covering the face and walking back out to where Sergio had left you.
"You want some help getting in or?" Sergio asks awkwardly, looking at you as you walked round the car, a finger swiping around the halo as you got closer.
"Woah, I can drive the car I just cant get in it alone... that's really interesting how have i survived this long in motorsports its insane" you admit, looking over the car. One of the engineers hands you over your own helmet that someone had made look a little bit more like that off a Red Bull Driver.
"Alright enough with that sarcasm okay?" he frowns, he hands you the steering wheel and you place it in the car, you feel about getting familiar with it.
"Are you ready?" he asks slapping the visor down.
"Yeah" you smile, nodding at him.
You pull out onto the track, Verstappen pulled out after you which felt odd having a World Champion behind you on the track.
"Right, first lap do as normal get a lay for the track and what the car feels like. Then we can do a flying lap" the engineer advises.
You do as he says, testing the track. Your tires were good and the car felt powerful. You come around and some of the others pit, meaning its time for your flying lap.
"Push the car to the max without fucking it for Sergio okay?" the engineer offers, you chuckle a little into the radio finding it funny.
"Why put me in the damn car if you think im going to wreck it, no trust in me whatsoever" you frown, shaking you head a little before putting your foot down.
You were an amazing driver, however it seemed to most that you were fearless and a rather aggressive driver. Suitable to be able to match Max's driving style, however as a rookie you still had your mistakes and over or under judgements that in races would cost you places and potentially put you at risk.
You managed to complete two flying laps by the timer had run out for FP1.
"What are the positions?" you ask.
"Oscar in first, your in second and George in third" making you gasp in shock, you knew you'd drive quick but you didn't think it was top 3.
"Where did you learn to drive like that" Sergio asks you as you hopped out the car. You pull your helmet off and then your balaclava your hair falling around your face in a mess of tangled curls.
"Practice, by watching races? Why?" you say not really sure what else to say. You'd never had like a specific mentor, it was just the radio engineer and the team you were with giving you pointers in the debriefs on how to improve.
"You take angles that you shouldn't far to tight, making your tire management awful. Your aggressive and nearly took out Lando today, because he was slower on the straight. You have lots to learn" he admits crossing your arms. You got to argue back, having disagreed with the prior statements but you knew that would get you nowhere.
"So teach me..." you say leaning against his car.

i saw somewhere information that in liam’s contract were line about driving minimum 5 races this season or liam would able talk free to other teams, and as we saw they don’t want lose liam
i think that what they did to daniel is unnecessary cruel and unfair. they took him after 2022 saying that “we would never treat him as mclaren” and yet somehow it’s even worse…
i still don’t understand why red bull allowed being manipulated by liberty media to choose leave checo. please don’t call me naive i know there were paid, but isn’t allowance they would have got for wcc bigger?
no hate towards checo, but he wasn’t doing even half as max in this fridge on chassis. they gave him so many chances to prove himself and i personally think that it’s great because we are people and people are making mistakes. but there were too many chances…
i feel sad right now, i was cheering for red bull long time and seeing how they managing all this things and loosing their glory is really hard
i hope max would think about his future in this team. we all see how loyal he is to red bull, but i can’t shake his feeling that they slowly would pull him down completely.
as i said on my personal page, i don’t believe in “max to mercedes” narrative because how things were managed in 2021 by both teams, but i hope he would find solution for himself and we would see him another few years!!
I read that about the 5 races for Liam and that could very well be the case but to me I still think they could have gotten around it. So for example if they didn't give him the 5 races this year then they would only lose the option they had on him and he would be free to talk to other teams but there was only 1 other seat available (at Sauber). So I think had they not exercised the option in his contract but had then said they could still offer him a 2025 deal he would have surely still taken it. That is what seems so odd to me, unless there were financial repercussions for not taking up the opinion? Everything seems to come down to money so this would make more sense.
And I agree that it was not a nice way to treat Daniel at all, especially after all the talk they did about how he was treated previously. Even if they were to let him go midseason (something I disagree with) they could have let him have a proper last race at COTA.
I think Max is actually quite an intelligent and mature person when it comes to his career so I do trust that he will do what is right for him. I also get the feeling that it might end up being better for him to leave as Red Bull seems to be all over the place and so many key people are leaving. I guess I am a Max fan and not a Red Bull fan so for me I just go wherever he goes.
I get what you mean about moving to Mercedes. I did not like the way they treated Max in 2021 as I do believe they played heavily into the narrative that Max was the 'dangerous' and 'aggressive' one and then there was the reaction after Silverstone. If Max goes there I would assume it was because they cleared the air and he is confident he could be happy and successful there. I suppose there is also the outside chance of teaming up with Newey and Honda at Aston as I know Honda have expressed interest in working with Max again in the future.
Sorry you are feeling sad right now, Red Bull's struggles seem to have come so quickly and suddenly that it is all a bit of a shock. I feel like Max will be okay in the end though, he has so much talent that he can probably walk into almost any team he wants come 2026.
#laura1633 asks#I am going to tag this as#anti Checo#Just to be safe because of the mention of his performance versus Max etc#But yeah this whole thing has been managed so poorly!!
