Giving Sonic characters an anime fighter-style makeover + dream roster for said anime fighter
So not too long ago, probably a year-ish, I wanted for a Sonic fighting game with Arc System Works graphics and gameplay (basically Guilty Gear Strive but for Sonic characters) and I was like "oh, imagine if it took place in an AU which is basically just my own take on post-SGW Archie but with characters from EVERY continuity and they all wear outfits that make them more urban or smth" I didn't have a lot of ideas for this AU but basically one of them was to make Sonic wear something like a bomber jacket that's more reminiscent of plane pilots (considering the fact that he was the original owner of the Tornado). I should have the drawing somewhere in my room, I'd just have to find it. I then kinda took a step back when I saw this:
(if someone is able to find who made the image above please send me the link to credit them, I know it's a Twitter image but I forgot the account)
This is a scrapped alt for Project M (for those of you living under a rock, the ORIGINAL Smash Bros. Brawl mod that made Brawl more like Melee and added Mewtwo and Roy back in the game) with Sonic wearing an outfit which is VERY CLOSE to that of his "humanized" version drawn by Uekawa. And after seeing this I'm like "y'know, he could wear this in Kingdom Hearts AND Guilty Gear and not bat an eye" (despite the fact that Guilty Gear designs have a shitload of belts).
I'd say a design like this could fit the vibe/aesthetic I'd be going for in a project that's essentially a Sonic fighting game in an AU which is made up of elements from all continuities. I know I also kept searching for a Shadow "equivalent" to this and I am so, SO torn between making essentially something similiar to the outfit above (so essentially either one of Shadow's outfits from Rivals) OR ramp up the edginess and make him wear something on the lines of this:
Horrible 90's Attire but it's Sonic Adventure 2 by Yanimae on DeviantArt (https://www.deviantart.com/yanimae/art/Horrible-90-s-Attire-But-it-s-Sonic-Adventure-2-705847763)
The cast would generally all have a clothes revamp and I'm gonna go over some of the most obvious ones:
-Tails should absolutely wear something that screams "I'm the smart prodigy" and I'm thinking he should get the bomber jacket I was gonna give to Sonic before seeing the PM scrapped alt -Treasure Hunter Knuckles like this is so obvious it's not even funny he fits perfectly with the tone, that's one of the top tier things Sonic Forces: Speed Battle did so far -same for Secret Agent Rouge (or alternatively her stealth outfit from Rivals 2 and Sonic X) and DJ Vector these are actually banger alts
-Amy wearing something on the lines of her Fleetway Comics outfit but with the colors of her more known outfit would rock ngl
-Eggman wearing an outfit similar to the one he wears in the first movie (so something like this https://twitter.com/RendersSSBU/status/1252674435342938113 ) -Metal Sonic having a new coat of paint that makes him more loyal to the Eggman Empire (essentially Chrome Metal from Speed Simulator) -Espio in his Ninja attire from Rivals 2 -Silver wearing some kind of Tron-esque time cop coat showcasing more that he's from the future or smth
-Blaze essentially wearing a more "regal" version of her regular outfit -Cream & Cheese dressed up like girl scout cookie sellers (its cute and it fits their personality) -ANGLER BIG ANGLER BIG ANGLER BIG ANGLER BI- -Omega possibly also receiving a coat of paint that shows he works for G.U.N with the rest of Team Dark
-Scrapnik Mecha Sonic and Scrapnik Mecha Knuckles enough said
-Surge cosplaying as Scourge. Hear me out on this one it makes SENSE-
This was more or less the roster I came up with for the fighting game itself
Mighty, Sage, Mecha Sonic by ShadowLifeman on DeviantArt Ray by Prime-01 on DeviantArt Nack, Bark, Mephiles, Infinite, Honey, Mecha Knuckles, Fleetway SS by ??? Classic Sonic by Kidd Kai on DeviantArt Bean by E-122 Psi on DeviantArt Zavok by Solbliminal on Twitter
Everyone else is from official SEGA art or from artists who worked with SEGA, template used from the DBFZ roster
Here's also a few details on each character and on some of the thought process behind this roster and/or gameplay:
-I considered a three button system a-la BlazBlue with an equivalent for a Drive that I haven't really developed in my brain, plus a Ring mechanic like Sonic Smackdown, where if you get hit with a strong attack you lose Rings and if you get said Rings you can heal back some of your health -The starting roster would mostly be Teams Sonic, Rose, Dark, Chaotix, Silver, Blaze, Gemerl, Eggman, Sage and Metal Sonic, with the final boss possibly being Mecha Sonic, the rest would be split among a few seasons of DLC -The only real characters I forced myself to include were Mimic and Rough & Tumble because I was running out of space to make a symmetric heroes-and-villains roster (and I originally considered for Surge & Kit to be a 2-in-1 deal like some of the Chaotix that would "mimic" a playstyle meant to evoke playing as both Sonic and Tails in Sonic 2) -Sonic himself would have a mix of moves between Frontiers and Smash Bros., but 90% of his Smash moveset would basically be used for Classic Sonic in general since he's 90% ball anyways there
-Everyone would have a movelist as big as that of the average Strive character (which makes sense when you look at how many unique techniques each character actually has from the wiki pages lol)
-Charmy and Ray are "built-in" assists like Android 17 for base DBFZ but I couldn't come up with full movesets for them sadly
-Super transformations are extremely hard installs to pull off (full meter stuff + super specific button inputs too) that make you utterly broken for a short amount of time at the cost of all your current red health (these include Super Sonic (both classic and modern), Super Shadow, Super Silver, Burning Blaze, Neo Metal Sonic and Super Mecha Sonic, possibly even Excalibur Sonic with the regular BK Sonic being instead used for the base form)
-I originally planned for Jet to call for Wave and Storm in battle but then I realized you could more or less flesh them out to be a bit more unique compared to him.
-Zavok is Ginyu from DBFZ, if you know you know
-Mephiles and Infinite LOOK LIKE they have the same "kit" but Mephiles' playstyle and game could and should definitely fit a shadow manipulator like him while Infinite is more of a guy who attacks aggressively at any distance
-Honey and the Hooligans would be essentially "translated" versions of their movesets from Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters into an anime fighter environiment
-Emerl and Eggman Nega are alternate costumes for Gemerl and Eggman respectively (I did not use actual Emerl as the base because Gemerl has a cooler design and he does show up in comics these days) -I considered Lanolin to form a full Diamond Cutters team with Tangle and Whisper but I realized she hasn't done much so far action-wise to include her, so both her and Belle (for the same reason) could be assists for Whisper and Tangle respectively
-I ALSO considered Marine to be playable but she hasn't shown any actual powers beyond that one thing in the end of Sonic Rush Adventure which nobody ever really understood what it was- I recall Ian Flynn saying in the Encyclospeedia that it's water powers? eh, nobody really trusts that book anyways
-I'd find cute if other characters showed up in taunts and animations for the playables (like Chip for the Werehog, Vanilla for Cream, Froggy for Big, Tikal for Chaos, etc.) -Fleetway Super Sonic would essentially be the game's Omega Rugal (the extremely hard DLC boss you have to beat to unlock for playable use). Also he's voiced by Jacaris because I cannot picture any other voice for him at this point now sorry
-Instead of making Mecha Sonic and Mecha Knuckles full blown villains I'd make them anti-villains/anti-heroes where in the game's plot they don't immediately side with the heroes because they just wanna live in peace on Scrapnik Island
-Didn't add Archie characters because of space but if I DID do it, I would've done Sally (and made her another Ginyu with the rest of the Freedom Fighters) and/or Eclipse the Darkling
-Other scrapped characters from even earlier takes on the idea are Tekno from the Fleetway comics, Shade from Chronicles (deleted because of a horrible human being) and Longclaw from the movies
-Plot would happen in an original universe, again, but heavily focused on games and IDW, and essentially be dealt with like how Guilty Gear Xrd handled it (with multiple iterations of the same game progressing the plot): in the first "Phase", the one with only the base roster, Eggman is attempting to mess around with Ancient technology and data from the Starfall Islands to replicate the Phantom Ruby's powers, somehow "resurrecting" and/or "summoning" in the second "Phase" past villains, which causes the heroes (and, begrudgingly, Eggman, Sage and Metal) to call in for reinforcements/allies, and to search for the Chaos Emeralds so that they could stop the villainous rampage, with everyone mostly deciding to gang up on Mephiles, Infinite and the Deadly Six as they pose the bigger threats when combined together. A third and final "phase" would focus on the aftermath of the event (but more so specifically on Starline and his Imposters because I want them to get better in the public eye, I know a lot of people don't like IDW but I love the idea of Sonic having a more detailed Rogues Gallery in official SEGA-endorsed media)
Oh and that edgy Fist Bump remix from the Sonic Sessions is absolutely the intro theme to this game i'm not sorry.
That is all, thank you for coming to my rambling and stay hydrated. Just don't drink Dasani, it'd be like drinking poison (if you know you know)

🎉HAPPY 30TH SONIC🎉
Better late than never, huh?
Here's to all the Sonics of the last 3 decades, and the many more to come 🥂 there's 62 Sonics in this drawing, and I left some out. If you can name them all, kudos to you 👏
This franchise means a lot to me, and after being a fan for almost 2 decades, I owe it a lot. I remember playing Sonic with all my siblings together when I was younger, and my brother having to "kill the guy on the stairs" for me in City Escape because it was too hard. We teamed up to button mash and beat Final Hazard, and we would replay it over and over just to learn the lyrics to Live and Learn. I saw Sonic X when it premiered and would go to Blockbuster every week to rent a copy of SatAM/AoStH.
Sonic was one of the main things that got me into art and making my own characters and stories. I learned to draw cartoons by tracing shots from the shows, and Tracy Yardley's work in Archie Sonic issue 200, which was the first comic I ever owned. That poor issue fell apart since I carried it with me and drew over it so many times, but it still sits on my shelf every day while I'm working. It was always a huge dream of mine to work on something official, and I would have never guessed that working on the Sonic comic would actually be my first break into the industry?! WILD😭
I can't thank the editors, artists, writers, and everyone on the IDW Sonic team enough for welcoming me and making that dream a reality. Everyone involved is so dedicated to creating a great environment and it really shows 💕
Shoutout to my friends and roommates who have to listen to my 3am rambles about why Dark Sonic deserved more screentime - or how Sonic is the ultimate lifeform - or go to conventions with me dressed as Sonic and Shadow and wreaking havock - or watching Sonic X during finals week on the school projectors until they overheated.
You guys are feeding my addiction and it is all your faults, but also I'm thriving, and now you know a lot about a fictional blue hedgehog, and that might help you in some weird trivia game show or something down the line, idk
Happy birthday Mr. Hedgehog
#i just love this hog#sonic#sonic art#sonic the hedgehog#sonic 30th#sonic 30th anniversary#so many sonics..

okay so these are my two vent ocs.
Emily/Elliot (Bunny.)
one of them, as you know, is my impure agere oc, representing all the sad and flashback parts of everything. I made them to help cope with my thoughts and feelings. They are based off of my appearance and my trauma. They age up with me.

She hides her feelings however upsetting they may be.
Meaning of name: Elliot (Urban Dictionary) Elliot is a true master at caring. He teaches how to love and be loved. A man of honour a man of steal. He's as handsome as a Greek God, as strong as diamond, as compassionate as a saint and is as gentle as a father's touch. Elliot possesses a magic within to create a vision in the eyes of all, leaving them stunned at how brilliant and perfect Elliot truly is. A leader, a spirit lifter, a lover, a giver, an Elliot'll leave you speechless with his being, his essence.

Stedge - Partner in crime, best friend, caregiver and lover. (Depending on age of course.)
Cream.exe (Sally.exe game) - practically twinning, bunny loves to hang out with cream.exe. (my highest kin, apart from cream herself.)
Family Members - Depending on which member, they do have a good bond or a negative one. Bunny loves them on different levels, some of them, they hate. This does not reflect on how (I myself) feel about said family members.
(If you want your creepypasta oc to be friends with Bunny, just ask!)
OTHER INFO:
• They age up with my current age since they aren't dead and they are based off of me.
• I decided to make them some sort of entity since I couldn’t make them a ghost and still be alive lol they age up with me.
•Their “trauma” is the same as mine, which is why I won’t write it in detail here but they are a victim of abuse.
• They are all bloody because its how I feel about my trauma.
• They physically and mentally regressed to the age they are supposed to be, if they are in their child forms, they are an actual child. (Direct reference to my age regression I use to help me cope with my trauma) They prefer to be in this form so they can protect and befriend children. They don't harm children or other victims of abuse. The children usually call them “bunny.”
• When they're in their adult form, they have a partner called Stephen. Someone who they have known since they were 17 years old. When they are a “child” he takes care of them and protects them to make sure they don't ever get hurt again.
• Their sense of justice is what caused them to want to help other children. They never want to see another child go through what they went through.
Any Other Info is on the Picture.
Stedge
Well, I also made a creepypasta oc to represent my boyfriend, someone who I love and trust to help me during those horrible times. He’s like my partner in crime. lmao also his age isn’t rly there because he ages up with his real life counterpart, which will get updated.
REMINDER TO NOT SEXUALISE HIM AS MY BOYFRIEND IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THAT.
BASIC INFO:
Name: Stephen
Nickname(s): Stedge, Mr. Bubbles (by Emily/Elliot.)
Meaning of name: Stephen The most beautiful boy in existence. Has stunning eyes, that make your heart fall through the floor when they crinkle with his perfect smile. Is deep, unlike most boys, and extremely intelligent. Has a big heart, and he doesn't realize when he's being taken for granted. Even though he would never admit it, he sometime's can't see what's right in front of him. An over-analyzer, and very stubborn, but he will admit defeat when he has to. Likes to drive girls crazy, apparently. Easy to fall in love with. Hard to figure out.

Dislikes:
• Abusers, people who take advantage of vulnerable people.

Relationships: Bunny - Best friend, soulmate, would do anything to make bunny smile, frequently gets them stuffed toys and food.
EXTRA INFO:
He is a few months older than me in IRL, his age is 19 right now, along with mine but will be updated.
Stephen is a human, and helps take care of Emily (in their child forms.) since they are a child and very vulnerable in that state due to their trauma, when they’re adult they are romantic towards each other.
They work together as a team when bashing and killing abusers. While he uses physical means, Emily uses mental.
Any Other Info is on the Picture.

S4 Ep 39: Pharaoh Can Fly (Selectively)
Guys, they’re back
Best storyboarder is back, and the visual difference between last episode and this episode is like when your art teacher picks up your charcoal and just fixes everything wrong with your gesture drawings. It’s like...I mean look at this:
I just really love and appreciate how illustrative this storyboarder is. And I say just storyboarder because this had about the same budget as the last episode--there wasn’t that much actual animation as per usual. But, all of the scenes were drawn so well, like panels out of a good manga. They just...they always nail it when they’re at the helm and I don’t know why they’re on Yugioh, but bless this storyboarder.
Plot wise, everyone got pulled into the dragon by gooey tentacles that came out of it’s stomach, don’t think about it.
Meanwhile, all of the minibosses could communicate with them and beg for help, yes, even the same miniboss who may have dressed up like Pegasus and catfished Seto Kaiba.
(keep reading under the cut)
The whole process of getting absorbed into the Orichalcos demon was a whole lot of symbolism and it was...kinda gross. Also kinda sketch. Also, for Kaiba it is a neat little nod to S1 when he had a vision that his brother was absorbed into a dragon mass.
I don’t think that the makers of the show remember S1, but either they just really like goopy dragons, or it’s a coincidence or I dunno, on purpose? Probably a coincidence.
And like I made this joke and realized...what if they actually meant to make that parallel though? This is the America crossover season, and they have referenced America’s love of trickster rabbits before with Pegasus but do they know about Br’er rabbit in Japan? Do they know? It’s a pretty Americana Deep-cut, and I have no idea how common this folktale is outside of the states.
I see anime busting out absorbing goopy masses all the time so I’m gonna assume that there might be a Japanese folklore I don’t know about which uses a similar structure (although I’m also assuming it has an extremely different history and association ((which I won’t be going into because I don’t feel like putting a trigger warning on this recap)).)
And looking at Wikipedia, there’s people that think the original reference to moist, absorbing creatures could have even come from as far as India. Which is...fascinating to how it also developed in Africa, and then the Cherokee also made the same story independently and then it fused together here in the States to make it what was eventually made into a Disney movie that will never be released again--this is just a really old ass story, all in all, possibly like over a thousand years old.
And a FASCINATING google deep dive I won’t go into for obvious reasons but knock yourself out.
Also, lets get distracted for a sec and see how well this storyboarder drew a fitted jacket at that angle. Dear Lord, did they get reference for that or did their brain just already know that those folds would be there? You can even tell that Pharaoh has just a little bit of padding at his shoulders. Ugh. Guys this storyboarder is so freakin good at these little fitted jackets.
So, once Yugi and his friends are absorbed into the mass, where they should have died...and maybe some of them did, but I don’t know if I should add that to the Death Count because like...they could have held their breath in the amount of time they were stuck in there...maybe...Anyway, they are saved by being tossed into the figurative briar patch--by the souls all hanging out in the Leviathan’s stomach--which again makes me wonder...did they pull a folklore on us? Again, I have no idea.
Like a lot of the people in this dragon have been thorns in their side this entire season, they’ve all tried to kill them at one point--all the minibosses, Mai, Pegasus--but now they have decided to team up with Pharaoh (along with the rest of the human race) and offer whatever they can to free them from the grip of the gross dragon mass.
And like, the ending of the folk tale is that the thorny ass briar patch is also where the rabbit lives usually. It hurts everyone else, but the rabbit--the rabbit can deal with it. And likewise, Pharaoh is freakin dead. He’s at home here. He’s surrounded by spirit power, his friends and their friendship power, this is like his zone, and now he’s crazy powerful for it and will be for the rest of the episode.
And like Yami is a very trickster God (especially Season Zero Yami) so like...it does make sense that he would mirror a folk tale based on trickster Gods, even if it is by complete accident.
So Pharaoh imagines everyone’s tears as individual drops in a glass or something--it’s not a literal glass or anything--it’s just there because the only thing actually happening on screen was his hand hanging out of this dragon’s weird puss skin.
And he’s now a fully charged Sonic the Hedgehog and no longer needs Kaiba or Joey at all. Just gonna grab his God card demons and take charge of everything else from here on out.
By first exploding his buddies right the hell out of this lizard and across hundreds of feet of open ocean.
Joey decides to remind Kaiba that he lost the Battle City tournament.
Seto’s roast was actually in the show, PS. He is not super excited to be reminded that Yugi owns every card that he spent 2 seasons failing to get.
And then Pharaoh did something really, really...
...just really really wild.
OH OK.
YEAH JUST TAKE OFF.
GO AHEAD THERE’S NO REASON THIS WOULD BOTHER ME.
I mean he IS super powered right now but like...
Like...WTF?
4 SEASONS. 4 SEASONS I thought this guy was glued to Yugi like Peter Pan’s Shadow and apparently--he can bounce.
Can Pharaoh do this every time Yugi asks Tea out on a date and tries to instead make the ghost in his head do all the work now? Can Pharaoh just be like “NOPE” and then phase out of the house, leaving Yugi to actually do the hard stuff?
It really adds a level of complexity to their relationship if Yugi can get a room.
(If not a room for romance, but at the very least a room to poop in.)
OR has he been able to allow Yugi to wicked poop in peace this whole time, but the show just never felt like telling us because they felt like it wasn’t important (although it is crazy important)?
Either way I am just...floored at this character development.
Yami just let Yugi out of his sight for like...I want to say 8 full minutes. Just incredible amount of trust on Yami’s part. Incredible. Knowing Yugi’s track record, he should have died in those 8 minutes but...he was being babysat by both Kaiba and Joey.
So Yami summons the Gods and they shoot lasers--you kinda expect this sort of thing.
And this is...probably...the real reason why Dartz didn’t bother trying to attack Pharaoh 5,000 years ago.
I can still think it’s because of Bakura but like...this is probably the real reason. It felt pretty chump to just shoot a laser at the bastard. Pharaoh just had to be reminded that this is a thing he can just do. If he felt like it.
Which he never feels like doing, because he’s too busy watching Yugi’s every move, and getting distracted by High School shenanigans.
After this happens, the giant snake falls to the ocean, splitting into just sooooooo many ghosts.
Over 7.8 billion ghosts, if we’re to assume that this is most of the population on Earth.
(thinking the weird-o in the hat is probably a Duel Monsters card? The duel monsters were throwing themselves into the Leviathan at one point so this is probably like a dark magician boy or something...I just don’t get very attached to the monster cards so it was like...whatever. The cards die like constantly so who cares?)
It is a pretty set dressing. Like Christmas lights but...dead people.
We also find out that the lost family of our minibosses Alister and Raphael, have indeed spent the last many years inside the Leviathan stomach, which is pretty tragic. We get a bitter sweet conclusion to Alister and Raphael’s story--although it’s not a full on ending for either character. Their life still hella sucks, they are in therapy for basically forever.
Where is Gurimo?
I don’t know what sort of job or life these two are qualified to have now, but youknow...Marik’s boat probably has jobs available.
Hold up. Can we talk about the windows?
I know absolutely none of you care about this, but I do, not to be picky or condescending to an overworked art team, but because I just want to know what they were trying to aim for.
There’s an iron stained glass style windowpane thing going on and that’s what’s really getting me. Like...I know these guys were technologically advanced, but why did you use this WW2 background? What happened to Ancient Greece that you were doing before?
Like doing a super past with future tech is so cool to me--I love that sort of concept art. That’s going into like Black Panther stuff where you’re referencing the earliest stuff in Africa and then blending it with stuff beyond our science. But Atlantis is a real big shrug and a “listen we ran out of time and had to press print,” and it’s such a shame. It feels less cohesive than even when this show does Egypt.
And yo this show and how it draws ancient Egypt--I feel like I’ve already talked about that. I have a feeling I’m going to talk a lot more about it next season. I’ll get to it when we get to it. I’m hoping that they have more time and budget to actually DO Egypt for once. (I say knowing they won’t)
Like it’s one of those things where this isn’t a history show, like at all, and it’s very much a fantasy. I’m not going to be like those sewing people on youtube that get annoyed because their TV show doesn’t have handsewn stitching in their Victorian bodices they rented from the costume department from an LA discount warehouse. Because, yo, it’s TV, and I can stretch my own imagination because it’s acting. (although I confess, I watch every single one of those videos).
But...the potential, y’all...the potential.
Anyway, Dartz isn’t dead. He was just taking his toot sweet time getting down the steps of his Gazebo.
This is where things get very anime. I get this problem a lot with anime, I really do--and maybe it’s just me. But like...sometimes it feels like anime changes the rules during the boss fight.
That happens a lot, right? Where suddenly the final boss reveals something that like...should have been addressed way earlier? And he’s alive but you don’t get why?
Anyway, Pharaoh reacts by getting maybe way too attached to his newfound independence.
Which like...I can understand Tea forgetting that Yugi is one people that is two people all the time, but the writers as well?
And what’s kind of great about this scene is that Dartz does see Yugi as two people here. He doesn’t look at Yugi, he looks at both. When Pharaoh is like “Leave me, Yugi!” Dartz heard all of that.
Just kind of a neat thing that we finally have a dude that can just...see Pharaoh for what he is, but it probably won’t matter because there’s like only one more episode left of this season.
Anyway, Pharaoh and Dartz have a chat about where evil comes from...and like...it’s some Yugioh lore, all right.
So before the show decides to give us the Genesis on Yugioh and reveal where the evil of the Orichalcos comes from, or if all evil was created by Orichalcos itself (which is IMPLYING stuff about Orichalcos) the snake shuts him the hell up.
As it should. Leave that Pandora’s box freakin closed. That’s going into extended universe of Star Wars books territory (RIP.)
As an aside--pretty sure that Yugi is standing outside that tornado. Maybe it was just the editing of the episode but like...
Yo I’m pretty sure Yugi is just standing there. For the first time, it’s not his nuts getting roasted. Wow. Tables have turned so much since he was dead.
Anyway, here’s the link for new people so you can read these in order
https://steve0discusses.tumblr.com/tagged/yugioh/chrono
There’s only one left! We can do it! We can finish this season in 2020! And actually get back to recapping Full Metal Alchemist! ~~Woooo~~
Oh man that movie better still be on Netflix or I’ll have to buy it lolol.

音像世界 [Audiovisual World] - Sept 2006
a very wonky but delightful translation under the cut
Placebo ; We are the 21st century modern rock band Text/Interview with Zhang Weiwei/Xingyue
On the first day of "2006 Beijing Pop Music Festival", "Placebo" Perform on the main stage of the company. "Placebo" is hailed as "the most Record the distinctive British music yin", this is their first time on the Chinese stage. Long talk will undoubtedly be a feast for listening to you. Mission to the last century In 1996, one named Brian Moco )lkO) boy,’ painted Seven eyes Liangying, leaving pitch black Childish behavior: ‘The violent red color I'm learning girls like a demon Sing a song "Nancy Kid" When I vent without hesitation Stupid material life and The emotion brought by the ft world. From the moment on stage, cloth Who is the backlog in my heart Thrown in front of the world, lead Shoulder, reputation, obsession and even People band one by one "placebo" Horribly turned out, "(Radiohead)s" "'Oasis" (Oasis) Three The altar adds a stunning Household Don't one by one Lane was born into a wealthy Bank entrepreneur, mother Christianity. Childhood, Tossed in Scotland, Libby Between Schlossburg. Serious , And moved countless times Dogs have no fixed partners in childhood Jidu is lonely, even learning
The classmates and teachers in the school are also particularly alienated, plus , My parents ignored because of busy banking , The physical and psychological growth of his son, Bryan from 11 I have been learning from the streets, newspapers and magazines since I was Factory women give themselves makeup and always like to surround Women go round and round. When he was 16 years old, his parents gave him a copy Telecaster guitar, very sensitive to music Brian soon bought a real price A real guitar, and I've been obsessed with playing guitar ever since, So that everyone can often see it on stage Brian gently hugged the guitar one by one He plays the role of a mother in his life Important role. But in fact, Bryan’s parents Straightforwardly oppose him to engage in art-father- I want to let Brian inherit his career and become a Bankers one by one Blaine began to use gender boundaries Vaguely neutral dress to resist father and family Against pressure. Until the end, Brian and his father There is no longer any contact or exchange. In 1990, 18-year-old Brian left the family. Came to London alone and entered Gold Smiths Academy of Art and Drama Studies (British The prestigious Royal Academy of Art, "Blur" Former guitarist Graham Coxon Coxon) also graduated from the college J. Cloth at this time Ryan has been able to skillfully play a variety of instruments such as Ji Him, keyboard, bass, drums, saxophone, and even DJing, He also worked as a DJ in several clubs, but he was honest Say that I am not very good at being a DJ0 By chance in 1994, Brian Kensington subway station encountered a later career ride Stefan Olsdal,} Invite him to form a band with himself and join in one, Club performance. Osdo listened to Brian Immediately after the song was attracted, not only that, he , Put his Swedish friend Robert Schutz (Robert Schultzberg) pulls into the music Be a drummer (until 1996). Until later , Bryan also emphasized that Osdo accepted his The moment I invited to the band was my whole life E one of the unforgettable moments. During this period, Bligh En called the band "Ashtray Heart" (Ashtray Heart) Heart)0 After quickly gaining awareness, they The band was renamed "placebo". Soon, Caroline Records has recognized this and A different young band. In 1996, Robert Schutzberger The conflict with Brian increased and left the band, from Therefore, the position of the drummer has always been Steve Huey 特 (Steve Hewitt) instead. In the same year, the band The first album of the same name "Placebo" (Placebo) released Row. Singles "Nancy Kid" and "Young Rage" (Teertage Angst) immediately became a hit single, The stubborn and rebellious children of the entire Yao British Empire Was boosted by this three-person band, "placebo" It seems that they have been able to relieve their psychological barriers A great pill for manic heart. Just as Brian is different from Ordinary costumes-mascara, eyeshadow, full lips, ~ Nail polish, skirts, this series will only show up The characteristics of a woman’s body are now affected by a height,The British man who is less than 1.75 meters boldly and naturally used to dress himself up. The British media took advantage of the trend and gave him the title of "fashionable Bowie". "Media reporters like to make boo heads. Maybe it's because life in the UK has always been so dull and boring. That's why they were surprised when they met me and yelled. I like "Sonic Youth" and "Sonic Youth". "Pixies", I prefer to dress myself up as I want to appear on the stage, in the MV and even in life. I just enjoy such an open-self lifestyle." Brian shrugged and said softly. In a tedious and lengthy interview after a TV show performance, Brian deliberately pointed the guard }l to the male reporter’s chest, so that the reporter was tossed by the sly Brian that he had no intention of continuing the interview. Go on, while Hewitt and Stephen are laughing together. After the album of the same name was released, the band easily got the mainstream record company Virgin In November 1998, he quickly recorded and released the second album "No "Without You I'm Nothing". This album has a rare change in the depth of the lyrics and Brian’s vocals compared to the first album. Brian in "Pure Morning" lowered his throat and reluctantly sang "Send charcoal in the snow." "A Friend in Need A Friend Indeed" (A Friend in Need A Friend Indeed). A famous sentence like household. Bryan, dressed in black, jumped out of the building and walked straight down the wall. The MV for this song was also planned by Bryan. A keen listener can find from this Xin album that the alcohol, drugs, and erosive relationships in "Nancy Kid" have changed to the mixed emotions and emotions toward urban men and women in "Every You Every Me".
The rhetoric of the low-level media is more intense. Every large-scale live performance, "placebo" In order to pursue the perfect sound effect comparable to the recording studio, Always bring fixed musicians with them Stage performance, and these fixed musicians also accompanied Placement has gone through a worthy 10 years. Although But on the stage they always hide without light In the dark, but they are the same as the "placebo" three The relationship between the members is like a formal team member. Observant Fans will also find that "Velvet Gold Mine" These regular musicians also participated. And "Ann Placement" "Believe in Me" held in Paris (Soulmates Never Die) large concert now The DVD and MV compilation are everybody’s Placement" a precious treasure that loyal fans must collect, The Paris concert not only included the "placebo" essence Cham’s hot live performance also hides a 30 Minute tour documentary, including how the three escaped Avoid the chase of fans and talk about the fun in the lounge Bryan teaches you how to draw eyeshadow and sightseeing Precious fragments of time crazy Stefan. "Placebo" will play an electrified style The ultimate is the new album released this year Meds; compile the album cover with "Sleep with the Elves"
It’s exactly the same, it seems to come from the same designer hand. As Brian said, in the past 10 years he’ We work hard to find a position and style that suits us, Looking for an invisible limit. Bryan and Le The team has been trying to get out of this restriction, out of them Have experienced, followed, intoxicated, avoided A sensitive area that has been and moved by. Although cloth Leith now has a child named Cody Zihe ~ a touching wife who maintains a stable relationship with him One by one wife, son, and teammates are all Bligh En is deeply loved one by one, but Brian is uneasy in his blood The molecules make him feel full of emotion and sensitive heart The world has never changed. Now the "placebo" starts Putting aside some long-standing conventions, in the new album Significantly reduced the iconic guitar distortion, the band Focus boldly with a more fashionable electrified style With drugs, alcohol, and love, it’s like a giant record jacket The naked, twisted, and shouting woman, "Ann The placebo" bravely broke free from the past System", more calmly standing in the British rock music front. The growth of the Bone Association Band? I am very happy with the growth of the band. Our growth and success are all through long-term hardship...Shan:1 Linde. It’s been an almost uninterrupted tour for 10 years. This is a relatively old-fashioned way of running Cantonese. "(The tail is also what we like very much. The live performance of the mountain and the constant currency" requires that you can get yourself in it. In the early days of the band’s establishment, we had already decided to deliver the music to our listeners in the most direct way. What do you think of the development of Yaoi’i Gun Music? "Lonz Ferdinand" (1,s,i Pordinand), "Arctic Monkeys" (Arctic Monkeys). "The Kooki"; do you think they really have "material"? Just because they are from the same island does not mean they are anointing Le Buya! What is in common. Of course "Franz Ferdinand" and "Arctic Monkey" must be influenced by the music of IJ Moji {Fei, in my heart! Bu! . He is a very good band in J1IJ4 II. Especially the L tail, "Arctic Monkey r", their "material" lies in the quality of their Shule creations. They are very humorous, full of the strong vitality of the factory, modern city, and very British creative style. What they are telling Very interesting, but also very "human", very A true story is a very realistic expression Present form. I think if the "street boy" (The Streets) is a rock band, they ' It will be the "Arctic Monkey". I personally have always been very happy Happy "Franz Ferdinand", from their first An album begins. They are from Scotland and also It brings another kind of cultural experience. What I want to say is that although there are so many Success bands are all from the UK, but they don’t Not necessarily have something in common, nor is it necessarily It means that rock music in the UK will be more Good or worse. Good is good, bad is good Is bad, there is no need to divide by region Standards. What kind of concept do you hold on creation? We are a rock band, just like I We are a modern rock music team. We enjoy using various tools and equipment The possibility of creating music. Rock music is not only It’s a simple guitar with electronic elements Not only can be used in a certain kind of special music In the category. The key to its function depends on you How to use it and how to integrate it better In your own music category. Was the grunge trend in the U.S. Has any influence on you or a British band? You like Is Grunge Fun? I never really liked it Grunge, I have never heard of "Nirvana" (Nirvana) Music until Kurt Coben (Kurt Cobain) passed away. For me, "nirvana" Too mainstream T0 I am more interested in those very Alternative bands, like "Sonic Youth" (Sonic Youth), or the late 70s, 80s Post-punk band in the early years. What do you think of as a British band American culture? We ourselves think that "placebo" is a European bands. Of course we were founded in London. Half of my blood is Scottish, history of drummer The name "Friend (Steve Hewitt) is of British descent, Stefan Olsdal is a Swedish. We Speaks many languages, Stephen speaks 5 languages, I speak French and English. We grew up in Europe There are K people from the I1 family in Zhou, we see ourselves as Europeans, I don’t think I have any special UK Pity. We can, will historically and geographically The music of the country and the era is biased. Ok Meeting the music and blood should be interpreted, and it is truly I found it at Ill lii.} I don’t care if the music comes from Which country, as long as it can move people. but I I want to say: "I'm very happy that I will be in Europe Life". Countless tours and publicity all over the world make people Enjoy it? I enjoy the tour, but not the publicity. But it is equally important. In the past 10 years, We have been through live performances all over the world Accumulated a group of very loyal and sincere fans. Every year, the number of our fans grows very much View. Although it takes a lot of time to do this, it also gives me We added a lot of fun. You know there are many "placebos" in China Fans? They are very obsessed with "placebo" The violent distortion guitar and your charming voice, even Even when playing the piano is hot, many fans want to know the invitation, What do you think of your fans. Ah, haha, of course I hope so. "I must wait until Ij comes to Beijing in September to learn about Chinese musicWhat a fan is like, I look forward to it very much. It’s not just heterosexual people. Placement", many gays also like you We, what do you think is the reason that makes "Ann Does "Placement" attract different fascinating groups? Great! I think this is great! I think For our honesty in emotions and the truth in life Desire to communicate, um, if our music can move people, it must be physically,There are three aspects, both mentally and emotionally. You are now a father What kind of impact? The kind of perplexed and perverted Dong Is Xijijing completely far away from you? Honestly, no. As for myself Those who are confused and perverse, maybe less A little bit. But now there is another person Let me care, need my protection, so that it will not be this Hurt by a huge bad world. You have always loved to dress up, you still Do you love applying black nail polish to yourself? I have not bought black nail polish for many years Yes, but I still paint eyeliner and eye shadow. I do Did not try to do anything special through these performances Communication, in addition to thinking that people should dress up, Freedom in dress, choice and preference, not affected by Constrained by any established standard. If hard If any message is conveyed, it is freedom. But I do this entirely because I like it, I think I look great like that, like a The mentality of a lady with makeup. How do you think a man should make his evening watch more cultured and tasteful? I think in the 21st century, men should be free, Wear what they like and dress up like they like Huan look. In comparison, women are more They can wear skirts or they can wear Pants, they can make up or not, They can look bright and beautiful, or they can watch Go up and take control. In the 20th century, men’s The choice has become so small. Looking back, Louis France in the fourteenth period, and the restoration period In Great Britain, men used to love makeup that much, Their clothes are so gorgeous and they look so good elegant. So we just trace the roots in history. The media will use it when evaluating "placebo" Keep your eyes on such things as "male and female", "gorgeous", ) If you have to symbolize, how can you give yourself Has it been defined and classified? A modern rock band. A 21 The modern rock band of the century. Let me show you and all Some magazine readers confirmed that "placebo" is not Hermaphrodite, the "placebo" members are all men, Everyone is.
In addition to work, the three of you often Play together? The three of us spend time together Family and love have more time. So when we After we got home, we gave all the time Family material lover, ha ha. Can you chat online? No, it never happened. I know net Some people on the network will call themselves Brian Mok, Husband ,,’’No~1 million That would definitely not be me. If you are online I met someone like that and I visited Brian Mo But my blog or Myspace, I read my Diary, you have to believe that it is definitely a lie. I Will not publish their life information on the Internet, I am a privacy-conscious person. What's the story of the performance in China this time ? What are your expectations for the Chinese record market What? Just like going to Thailand and Korea, through hosting Party’s invitation, we’ll come and we know people We like our music, so we can play for them We are also very happy to play. As for the record market, I Really have no idea. I just look forward to acting I hope to bring an outstanding performance. Please describe you in one word or sentence " 3 people. Just one sentence. Have you seen "Starship Fans Is this TV show "Star Trek"? Oh, your country may not broadcast it. Stephen It's "Mr. Spock" (Mr. Spock) It’s ‘Dr. McCoy’ and I’m "K Captain Kirk" (Captain Kirk)
#gonna post sappy nostalgic stuff for my bday lol#sly brian did what to the journalist...#👀#sleep with the elves.... please tell me thats the official chinese album title!#literally the most expensive thing i bought in china lol#placebo#brian molko#steve hewitt#stefan olsdal

TWO GAY AGENTS AND THEIR KILLER ROBOT HERE TO OUTGAY YOU ALL (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)❤
Finally after a whole month prolly more I finally finished this ahhhhhhhhhhgrekjgnkegekjgkjegkjeekjgkje xD this took way longer than I had planned, but well life happens and sometimes it just takes way longer than you have planned, and I for one regret nothing because look at this it looks so flipping good rgekjgekjgkje
This whole pic happened just because I over a month ago saw a pic of Sonic wearing a dress, and was all hey let’s put Shadow in a dress for a warm up sometime, which I did, but then I decided to give Shadow a gun, and was also like hey let’s add Rouge too and she can be in a suit because women in suits! And then it was just a downfall from there as I then wen hey let’s try to do some proper frikking lineart for once xD
And I am seriously so proud, I haven’t done such a proper lineart for ages, and it turned out mostly good, like yes many of the lines are hella uneven, shaky, and messy, but idgaf it looks good especially for been me! And I learn allot on how to do them better so I now know when next time I decide to do it, and I am so happy with how they look, that dress is perf on Shadow like srs, and them shoes were hell to draw but fits him so well, don’t even mention the gun bc ugh guns are horrible to draw af man, which is why I pretty much just traced an image bc no way would I be able to draw a gun from scratch xD and Rouge gods look at her, finally got her head to look decent mostly, it’s still a bit wonky but better than last time, some of her colours could had ended up way better but I just was feeling so done with this pic when I got to her but she still turned out good, and Omega I just traced too or tried to at least bc I can’t draw robots xD I kinda wanted to make a proper background but like it would take like even longer if I did so greyish background it is ye, but still so srs proud of this pic gekjgnjkgkjegrkj
And I got like a whole story idea for this whole pic which, if anyone is interested, is free to take and write as I will never get around to write a proper fic about this grnjkegkje xD story under the cut ye
ALSO DON’T TAG AS SHIP THEY JUST BROS DOING BRO THINGS, LIKE SNEAKING INTO FANCY PARTIES TO STEAL SHEIT
Ok so the story behind this pic is this:
Team Dark has gotten a mission to infiltrate a party, as they like need to go in there and steal something of big importance.
In the plan they have so will Shadow and Rouge get into the building as guests, Omega forced to stay on stand by nearby as firstly he is a killer robot and these kinds of missions aren’t really his thing, but best to have him nearby in case they need him.
And for the party Shadow and Rouge of course got to get a pair of fancy outfits so they can blend in proper, so it’s when the both of them are at Rouge’s apartment, bunch of her clothes tossed all over the place as she is searching for things for them both to wear, Shadow catches sight of this red dress and instantly goes that one, I want to wear that one.
Maybe he have always had like wanted to wear dresses back on the ark, maybe Maria dressed him up back in the day and he enjoyed it and felt good about himself while been dressed up, maybe he and Maria was then busted by someone who told him he wasn’t allowed to wear them bc he a guy something like that bc hey flashbacks is his thing, but anyway he still really want to wear said dress.
Which surprises Rouge at first and makes her a little confused, but she quickly gets over it and deciding not to question it because what is there to question really fuck gender norms, so she instantly is all yes you would look stunning in that! Wait let me get some accessories and so on, and she just gets really into dressing Shadow up all properly, putting on his make up and so on, making him try out different things etc.
He protests a little bit at first when she gets all handsy with make up and so on as he didn’t even think that he would wear any, like wearing skirts and dresses was completely fine but make up he was hesitant, but he eventually ends up really enjoys getting all pampered like this and in the end feel really good about himself, he looks really good and he feels good.
Rouge in turn decides to dress up in a suit instead of a dress which she was planning on originally, saying something like how she can’t steal the spotlight from Shadow after all etc.
And then later the scene of the actual pic happens, Shadow and Rouge having sneaked away from the party to find the thing they need to steal, Shadow ready with his shotgun he hid somewhere on his person, while Rouge is talking with Omega through a headpiece while holding Shadow’s arm so he don’t rush off by himself.
And then I dunno what happens next, perhaps they find the thing they were after maybe they didn’t, but anyway Shadow ends up deciding afterwards he wants some dresses and skirts of his own to wear whenever he so pleases and Rouge ofc helps him out ye, and then like stuff happens maybe some sonadow happens who knows yeah
But yeah that’s the story idea I got man, I really like it but like I said won’t write it properly, so it’s up for the takes ye xD though if any of you do want to take this story and write it properly, then all I ask for is that you tell me, link me when it’s done etc, if Amy appears don’t make her into a little binch she deserves better and that you don’t make it shad*ouge nothing against the ship I’m ok with it but the pic and the story got nothing with said ship, as I just overall prefer them to be best friends ye, also shadow is gay and pissed in hot topic
#sonic#sonic the hedgehog#shadow the hedgehog#MessedUpEssy#rouge the bat#e-123 omega#Essy's Art#Essy's Sonic Art#long post#AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH#SO HAPPY THIS IS FINALLY DONE#MY GODS#HAVEN'T DONE SUCH A COMPLEX PIC FOR AGES#LEARNT SO MUCH AND IM SO HAPPY#especially when it comes to lineart gkjegnekjgej#been having such a hard time learning how to do it for so long#but now I finally got it figured out ye#and can properly practice on getting better#and it feels great#and also learnt how to do locked layers properly as well#so now i can do so many things#so excited for them#and now i can finally focus on what i should been working on all this time#which is my pride pic which is still unfinished and so late#but i will get to it soonish#bc for now#its no more drawing today#its break time bc i am worth it#yes

Heya! Ok, first of all: this is really cool!
I also keep daydreaming a lot thinking about stories, but usually they are about characters that already exist, like the ones here in the blog, so it’s super amazing to me that you can actually think of all that just out of your imagination, specially with so much detail regarding the character’s clothes and hairs, their story, the relationships between them and etc.
I really like your descriptions and it seems to me that you have a color pallete going on there… with lots of purples and grays. That’s very nice! It totally sounds like something that could be canon in the games. Really, congratulations, because it’s very well-thought! And I have to add that I love the names Torali and Prometheus. I know Prometheus is from a Greek legend, but Torali is a name I’ve never heard before and I really liked it. ^^
Also, you don’t need to apologize for the long text, I always write gigantic chuncks of text myself, so who am I to complain? It’s fine. :) Thanks for sharing your ideas with me and the other followers, I’m sure others will enjoy it as well! :D
Now… uh… It’s kinda painful to me to say it, and I’m sorry about it, but I’ll have to refuse the offer of working with you on that project… Not because I didn’t like your idea or don’t feel like working with you on it, but because I’m currently pretty much overwhelmed by all the projects I have for my blog, and I really don’t think I’d be able to engage in another drawing-related project now… :/ I’m already working on my comics at a slower pace than I wish I could, and I’m trying to think about how to accelerate the process of drawing them so that I can post more often… I’m also creating some written content about the Villains and I have some drawing rewards for my patrons that I need to finish… As well as drawing stuff to keep my Instagram alive every now and then. And there are also my sideprojects that I make with my siblings: we make some comics about Sonic characters in my own language, and even though they are just something between me and my sibs, I don’t want to give up on this project and let them down. And I’m looking for a job because capitalism……. Oof.
So yeah… I’m sorry, really! But basically it would be very complicated to me right now, I don’t think I can handle another project, specially one involving another person, because that would be an even bigger responsibility to me and I wouldn’t wanna fail to deliver something I promised. Oh and… By the way, I’m pretty flattered that you asked my help with it, it means a lot to me as an artist! Thank you!
Anyway, congratulations again on all that, because it sounds really amazing! I hope you can find someone to work with you on that, and if you ever create some content with it, please do show me! ^^ Good luck! ♥

Where’s Me Sonic?! @american-auror-story I wrote the thingy you prompted with me last night.
The Doctor loses her Sonic and the Team go on a hunt for it, only it’s in a really obvious place...
This is first in a series, it’s about the less ‘smart’ times of Team TARDIS cause everything can be dumb and these lots have a few more than most.
Graham, cuppa in one hand, newspaper from the 1950s in the other, walks into the TARDIS console room to see utter chaos. True unadulterated chaos unfolding in front of his eyes, and he’s driven the bus on weekend nights. Nothing quite like the sights and sounds, and unfortunately smells, of the people of Sheffield during those dark times. He briefly considers doing a one-eighty and walking in the other direction but before the thought has any chance to really settle in his head the Doctor has spotted him.
“Great, Graham is finally here!” exclaimed the Doctor while flapping her arms around, one hand open the other holding something that her frantic movements are making difficult to see what it is. “He can help us look.”
“No, Graham is not here.” sighed Graham, giving a long look to the newspaper and tea before placing them down. “What is…” He takes another look around the console room, cables are pulled from the floor, panels are strewn about. Frowning he looks upwards when something red, sequined, and very revealing catches his eye. “Doc, what is that? I’ve never seen you wear something like that before.” He nods towards the scandalous dress, poking out from an open panel and now drawing everyone’s attention.
The Doctor's eyes widen and she turns the same shade of red as the dress. “That’s not mine.” She pauses before a mask appears across her face, hiding something. “And it’s a dress Graham, surely you know what they are.”
Graham rolls his eyes. “I know what a dress is and I gathered that it wasn’t yours Doc, cause you’re more..” He waves a hand across her ensemble of mismatched clothes. “Charity Shop Chic, that is… something else entirely different.”
“If it’s not yours, then who’s is it?” asked Ryan, poking his head out from a floor panel.
Graham turns and frowns down at his grandson before shaking his head and deciding that he really doesn’t care to know why he’s under the console. He turns to look at the Doctor again and sees her distracted thoughts whirling across her face, ancient eyes with an all too heartbreaking familiar look in them telling him all he needs to know about who that dressed belonged to. And belonged is definitely the right word. Regretting that he ever brought attention to it now, he decides to change the sombre subject and back to the one in hand.
“Anyway Doc, why is the console room in a bigger chaos than a Saturday night in Sheffield, may I ask? And what was I supposed to be helping you lot find?”
Yaz leans out from a side corridor. “The Doctor has lost her sonic, we’re helping her find it.”
The Doctor finally snaps her eyes from the dress and flicks them to Graham. “Yup! My sonic, I had it in here and then something pinged on the console, next thing I know. It’s gone.” explained the Doctor, her hand waving around in front of her as she speaks. Graham catches the glinting of a faint silver. “I love me sonic.”
Graham stands still and his eyes follow the object in her hand more closely. After a few seconds, he recognises the shape, colour, and width of the mysterious device in her hand. Her sonic. His face pulls a version of the Doctors unique, thin mouthed expression and he rocks back on his heels, half amazed that One: She doesn’t realise she’s holding it in her hand, Two: How Ryan and Yaz literally never spotted it, and Three: How long have they been looking for it?
“Soooo, the soonic then.” started Graham, drawing out both words and over pronouncing the C in sonic. They all turn to look at him now, and he can’t help but stare at it in her hand. He draws his eyes back up to her face again. “How long have you lot been looking for it?”
Ryan shrugs. “Couple of hours, it’s pretty small, could be anywhere in here.”
Yaz nods as Ryan speaks. “The Doctor was pretty torn up about losing it, it’s the least we can do to help her look for it.”
Graham tries to school his face and breathes in sharply through his nose to hide the growing smirk, he turns to the side and makes an effort of turning in a circle. “So, in here, then.” The Doctor nods. “Do we get anything if we find it Doc?”
Both Ryan and Yaz give him outlandish looks. “Free trip to go anywhere, even to a place I’ve previously said no to before.” answered the Doctor.
Graham sees Ryan and Yaz look at each other before turning and going back to looking again. He can’t help the huge smug look on his face now. “Free trip wherever we want to go Doc?”
The Doctor narrows her eyes at him and his smug face. “What’s with the face Graham?” asked the Doctor, suddenly suspicious. Ryan and Yaz both glance back as well.
“Just savouring the moment, please just let me indulge in it.” said Graham, casually leaning back and looking at each of them, the smugness growing, he laughs. “Ah! Indulged enough, no backsies Doc? Anywhere I want to go?”
The Doctor widens her eyes. “You know where the sonic is?” Graham nods and folds his arms across his chest. “Tell me and I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”
“Your hand.”
The Doctor frowns. “What about it?”
“Look in it.” The Doctor raises her hand. The empty one and he brings a hand to his face while mumbling a ‘bloody hell, and I trust her to take me round space.’ “The other one Doc, the one that is holding something.”
The Doctor brings her hand upwards and stares at it. “Oh.”
“Oh indeed Doc, oh indeed and you now owe me a trip, wherever and whenever I want to go.”
Ryan and Yaz clamber out from where they were and come to look as well. Yaz closes her eyes and a soft sigh escapes her lips. “It was in your hand for the entire time?” asked Yaz, gently and with care. The Doctor turns and looks a little sheepish before nodding.
“Oh. My. Days.” said Ryan, bringing his hands upwards and running them down his face. “I was under the console for nothing.” He pulls a disgruntled face.
“So then Doc, about where I wanna go.” reminded Graham, still smugly.
The Doctor nods and faces him. “Anywhere because you did find it.”
Graham claps his hands together and jumps away from the column. “1980 FA Cup Final, West Ham Vs Arsenal, and I know you said no before but you said it doesn’t apply this time, so we going then, yeah?” He makes his way to the console, stepping around the mess. “It was a great game.”
The Doctor considers saying no, but she did say she would grant any request. “We’re going but Graham..” She pokes a finger into his chest. “I do not want you meeting yourself, or telling yourself to place a bet. You hear me right?”
Graham nods and waves her rules away. “Yeah, I understand. This was a brilliant match, can’t believe I get to see it again.”
“You are aware of a thing called youtube, or video right Gramps? Cause you have the chance to do anything you want and you’re picking a football game.”
Graham snaps his head to Ryan. “It ain’t just a football game son, it was The Football game. Trevor Booking scoring the winning goal, watching the faces of Arsenal supporters, among other stuff that happened on that day.”
The Doctor sighs and against her better judgement she sends the TARDIS to 1980. What could go wrong?
A lot apparently...

Taylor Swift – Reputation:
1. ...Ready For It? – The beat grabs you from the get go and the moment Taylor’s vocals come in your jaw has dropped to the ground. The verses of the track are sung in a rap style which surely catches you off guard. However she takes it down a notch with the chorus that has this vast and magnificent vibe. A dreamy moment on a track that otherwise has your attention at alert. There is this futuristic aspect to the production which is highlighted just before the final chorus. This track serves as the perfect start to the record as it asks the audience whether they are ready to be taken on this new journey.
2. End Game (Ft. Future & Ed Sheeran) – This track is more of a chilled one that fully encapsulates you. Future’s verse is really clear when comparing to his usual mumble style, Ed Sheeran’s verse is on the track is definitely a highlight on the track and his flow is on point. Taylor also puts forward her verse in a rap style and the lyrics are slick providing one of the most grabbing lyrical moments on the album, ‘They told you I am crazy, I swear I don’t love the drama it loves me’. You can feel the hip-hop/r&b influence on this track and Taylor referencing Ed’s track ‘The A Team’ is an interesting touch.
3. I Did Something Bad – A badass track with an electrifying feel to it. It kind of holds that same feeling of thrill that you get whilst watching an action film. The dark aspect to the bridge is chilling and you really get to see a fierce side of Taylor. That ‘da da da’ part at the end of the chorus stems from a moment in a dream she had, reminiscent of how she got the idea for her song ‘All You Had To Do Was Stay’. The lyrics ‘They’re burning all the witches even if you aren’t one’ serve as one of the most intriguing lyrical moments on the album. It points to the fact that people will attack you even when you aren’t at fault and she no longer cares.
4. Don’t Blame Me – I don’t think we ever expected to get soul from Taylor, however on this track she proves that she can dip into any genre. This mesmerising track has this powerful feel to it that you feel pass through your soul. The big chorus fills the entire room and you feel a similar vibe to that which you get from the artist Hozier. This track talks about being addicted to someone, and the feeling you get whilst listening to the song in a way resonates with the feeling you get when you are captivated by someone. You get completely lost in the track.
5. Delicate – This track grabs your attention with its immediate start. Her using the vocoder really adds to the vulnerability of the lyric ‘My reputations never been worse, so you must like me for me’. That moment alone gave me chills, that feel of having everyone against you but then comes along that one person who instead of basing their views off of what is out there about you comes to know you for who you really are. Them being the light at the end of a dark tunnel. You can really get lost in this track with its calm and dreamy vibe. An emotional moment on the record that you may not catch onto immediately until you think about what it signifies lyrically. Might just be my most favourite track on the album.
6. Look What You Made Me Do – The transition from the previous track to this one is quite interesting. Going from something delicate (see what I did there) to something harsher. This really does depict a slicker version of Taylor. This track focuses on the aspect of trust broken and the aftermath of what that does to a person. There is a hypnotic aspect to the chorus and the line ‘The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now, why? Cause she’s dead’ provides the track with its most iconic moment. This track seems to serve more as a statement.
7. So It Goes... – With this track you seem to get lost in it just as she seems to get lost in the person this song revolves around. There is something exhilarating about this track and it has this sense of euphoria to it. The verses provide you with a moment of calm before the fast chorus hits. This one you’ll enjoy most when you are driving. Intriguingly even though the chorus is hard hitting it still makes you feel calm in a weird way.
8. Gorgeous – The opening in which Ryan Reynold & Blake Lively’s daughter says ‘Gorgeous’ adds an interesting touch to the track. It’s an enjoyable track and the lyrical aspect of it is intriguing due to the prospective it’s written from. The production of the track is quirky due to the beat and the distorted ‘Gorgeous’ in the background is a pleasant touch.
9. Getaway Car – The immediate opening to the track represents what it’s like to be in a getaway car. There is a sense of urgency you get from both the beat and vocals. This song focuses on a relationship that was not meant to last long. Whilst listening to this song you seem to get lost in it and it fills the entire space you are in. The storytelling on the track gets your mind imagining the story play out.
10. King Of My Heart – This track is intended to represent three different phases of a relationship, she does it through having the verse, pre-chorus and chorus sound different to each other. However the track still works and the three segments combine to create such a magnificent track that has you fully drawn and captivated. The verses you seem to get lost in and when the pre-chorus kicks in your on alert. This track also provides you with a euphoric vibe and the chorus has this feeling of vastness.
11. Dancing With Our Hands Tied – A stunning track that you will not want to end, it draws you in from the start and keeps you lost in it till the very end. The sonic feel to the beat in the chorus is so electrifying and this track was made for the clubs. You envision a dim lit setting to accompany the sensual feel of the track that soars through your entire body. It revolves around an intimate connection between two people.
12. Dress – This 80s inspired track is one of the most sensual tracks Taylor Swift has ever put out. A lot of people were quite surprised to see this aspect of her that hasn’t been so prominent in her previous records. This also is one of the calmest moments on a majorly exhilarating album.
13. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things – Here you see Taylor singing about people who reel you in and then break the trust you have given them. Leading people to closing themselves of from people and not opening up immediately in any relationship. It also talks about the people that are genuine and good. The bridge and her vocals during it for me are one of the highlights on the record.
14. Call It What You Want – This track is so mesmerising and beautiful both vocally and lyrically. It’s a dedication to that person that when she’s in their presence the negative things all fade away. It represents a journey from a low point to a high point and how being with this one person is what got her through it. You just want to put this song on full volume, turn of the lights and just immerse yourself in it. This track gets your emotions running.
15. New Year’s Day – A perfect way to end the album. It’s as if she is ending this chapter and is ready to start on this new chapter. The production gives you a sense of being present in that moment with her. A beautiful track with stunning lyrical moments like ‘Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you’ & ‘Please don’t ever become a stranger who’s laugh I could recognise anywhere’. She had been saving these lyrics and this was the moment she felt they best fit.

Forced AU: Eggman’s Alliance Arc, Part 2
It was already a few months after Eggman had collected the six Chaos Emeralds, and his secret laboratory was filled with posted up designs, concepts, and calculations that could have made his grandfather’s project research on Shadow go to shame.
And here he was, sat in this same chair for who knows how many hours, as he obsessively planned new robot concepts that could possibly take out Sonic the Hedgehog and all of his friends and allies that could possibly side with them; such as Team Dark, and the Chaotix.
And of course, the general public of Mobius who didn’t want to be ruled by a scientist obsessed with building an empire to worship himself.
The more he drew, the more memories and flashbacks of every attack, every defeat, and every humiliation was brought back into his mind. It was a good thing he was drawing on a tablet - a real pencil might have already snapped with how tightly he held the thing.
He didn’t even have the time to celebrate Christmas last year! And all those sitting down only using his brain probably made him gain even more weight. The thought made his mood turn sour.
“Doctor Eggman!” a frantic cry of his name from Orbot. “It’s an emergency!”
“Orbot!” the fat man responded with a cry. “Didn’t I tell you not to disturb me while I’m designing mechs?”
“The Chaos Emeralds have disappeared!”
“What!?” The effect was immediate. Eggman stood up instantly, nearly knocking over all the paper and even the computers from his workstation. “What do you mean they disappeared?”
“Like I said, Doctor Eggman,” Orbot repeated. “They really just disappeared without a trace!”
“I don’t believe it.” grumbled Eggman as he turned to face his computer once more. Typing into the keyboard and navigating the control panel, he brought up a feed of the security cameras installed in the base.
And he recovered the recorded footage of the room where he stored the Chaos Emeralds in, and played the video back:
It was the usual thing he saw; the Chaos Emeralds glowing dimly in their own colour, with the occasional spark of additional colour being spiked off from the emerald. And suddenly, a static had interrupted the video footage slightly, but he could still see what had happened.
The six Chaos Emeralds suddenly glowed a brilliant white, and blinded the camera with their white light. And then when the light dimmed, the emeralds disappeared along with it.
“Hmm…” Eggman pondered, lightly tapping the desk with his fingers as he came up with possible answers as of to what could have possibly happened. “Could it be… some form of Chaos Control?”
“But, Doctor-” Orbot interrupted his thoughts. “-Chaos Control under natural circumstances require all seven of the Chaos Emeralds.”
“I know, and the Emeralds spread themselves across Mobius again.” Eggman responded. “But then, they have never been kept like this before…”
“Boss!” Cubot interrupted as he joined the two. “There’s something strange that the base sensors are detecting! We’re surrounded by them!”
“I’ll teach them that Doctor Eggman can’t be taken down easily!” said the rotund man, as he furiously swiped at the screens and pulled out another live video footage of cameras monitoring the base’s exterior, and he was greeted with the sight of… the vast emptiness of the desert.
“You sure those sensors aren’t malfunctioning?” Eggman narrowed his eyes at the yellow robot.
“I’m sure of it! There are six energy signatures surrounding the base!” Cubot defended himself as he took out a tablet to show his maker the radar.
“Well I don’t see any-” the fat man suddenly stopped speaking, as a sudden twinkle in the corner of his eyes caught his attention. It came from the camera feeds. “-wait… What are those?”
As Eggman mumbled to himself, he zoomed in a camera to aim for a closer look at the unknown object. “They’re energy signatures, you say?”
“Yes boss!” replied Cubot.
“They could be the Chaos Emeralds. Let’s go take a look.”
And so, the red robot, the yellow robot, and the red-dressed fat man took a walk outside of their base, for the first time in a long time. But it seemed like the walk was a short one as they were immediately greeted with the sight of a purple gemstone, half buried into the ground.
Squatting down with some effort, Eggman picked up the gemstone with his gloved hands and stared down at the object.
“Well, it doesn’t look like a Chaos Emerald.” he commented before looking back up.
It was everything he could have ever dreamt about! Eggmanland: The big, beautiful theme park; full of statues of himself where living beings all over the world come to visit and worship him - the great Doctor Eggman!
His jaw dropped open in bewilderment, as he unconsciously let loose of the object that was in his palm in the shock. It had only been a millisecond of whatever fantasy world that the universe decided to bestow upon him - and he was already absolutely loving it.
And suddenly, it disappeared.
The shock had dissipated, and he admit that he felt disappointed that Eggmanland was gone. Was it a hallucination? Did he work too much on designing those robots that he had finally lost his sanity?
Another glint caught his eye for the second time that day.
Perhaps… it was that jewel?
Maybe it was the jewel, that was now on the floor again, appearing to be almost inviting the scientist to hold it once more.
Normally, he would feel excited about discovering a new material for his plans. But with this one - the strange unknown jewel - made him feel uneasy. Why? Was it because they appeared just as the Chaos Emeralds disappeared into thin air? And coincidentally; six of them, too?
A link clicked in the scientist’s brain.
‘No. It wasn’t a coincidence.’ thought Eggman, as he picked up the jewel for the second time. This time, no fantasies of his appeared before him.
“Orbot, Cubot.” called the fat man. “Collect the jewels, and analyse them in the lab. Cross check their energy signals with Chaos Emerald data.”
“Right away!” replied the robot minions as they went to do exactly what their maker ordered.
A few hours after the gemstones were discovered and analysed, Eggman’s suspicions were confirmed to be true: The jewels did contain significant amounts of Chaos Energy and had traces of material similar to Chaos Emeralds.
“Right.” Doctor Eggman suddenly spoke up after reading and going through the results of the analysis in his head. “I have come to the conclusion that these six jewels are the Chaos Emeralds.”
“That’s excellent, Doctor Eggman.” responded Orbot. “Then perhaps you can now continue with your plans!”
“Not quite.” the scientist grumbled, slightly annoyed for some reasons. “Although they contain Chaos Energy, the energy signatures produced are vastly different from the original Emeralds.”
“Then maybe they are another form of the Emeralds?” Cubot chimed in his two cents.
“Excellent conclusion, Cubot!” Eggman exclaimed. “Perhaps you’re not such an idiot, after all.”
“I want to call them ‘Spooky Sapphire’!”
“I take back my words; they’re not even blue, you stupid robot!” Eggman snapped, before calming down once more. “Anyway, with my great mind, I’ve already come up with a brilliant name - that none of you dimwits could ever come up with.”
“It shall be named: the ‘Phantom Ruby’!”
And it is also time to find out exactly how this newly named Phantom Ruby caused that illusion.

Failure To Launch: When Beauty Fades
Because I need to make a point, I'm just going to be immodestly candid: I was a remarkably adorable child, the kind with such rosily expressive cheeks that grown-ups couldn't resist pinching them. So when I became a teenager and then an adult, I was what you would call a hot number or something like that—at any rate, they put me half-dressed on the covers of my books to sell them, so draw what you will from that. Now that I'm in my forties, people say, I think kindly, She still looks good. This is to be followed by a phase of ... for her age, which is hot on the trail of handsome, and then—then who knows? I think it deteriorates from there, enough so that the vain among us start to look forward to death, or at least stop resisting its horrific pull.
So here's what I'm getting at: I was, at least at some baseline, a pretty girl, the kind that boys were supposed to like and sometimes did. And because I was cute all along—it's not like I blossomed into honeysuckle after adolescence—I was given to believe that love would be easy, men would be elementary, and I would have my way. I was meant to date the captain of the football team, I was going to be on a romantic excursion every Saturday night, I was destined to be collecting corsages from every boy in town before prom, accepting such floral offerings like competing sacrifices to a Delphic goddess. It was all supposed to be to the tune of some glorious Crystals song from the early '60s, when everything was still innocent, and my life would be a wall of sound from "Then He Kissed Me." Love would be simpler than tying a string bikini, the kind I wore a lot while waiting on the beach for my ship to come in.
Alas, love has been complicated.
The men have piled up in my past, have fallen trenchantly through my life, like an avalanche that doesn't mean to kill but is going to bury me alive just the same. There's really no point, this late in the day, in picking through all the boys in order—alphabetical, chronological, epistemological—but looking back, I have been in far too many scenes that could have happened in a John Cassavetes movie or an Edward Albee play, if only they rose to that literary level. I attract (and seek) bottle throwing, foot stomping, door slamming, pot clanging, hair pulling, and, above all, a lot of loud screaming and walking out in a huff—usually leaving me crying, wondering what just happened, or, more often, too astonished to cry.
Or else: There is the thrill of loving for a little while—a night, a week, a month, even a year—and then loving stops, just like that, in the coldest, blankest way, a screen going snowy at the end of a movie. There is no yelling, only silence—the kind in a Carole King song: the phone that doesn't ring, or the words you didn't say that you think of on the staircase spiraling down once the door is locked behind, or maybe even months later.
When I was still in my twenties, for several years I had this wonderful boyfriend; I'll call him Gregg—he's the one we're all waiting for: tall, blue-eyed, with this thick black hair, all smart and sensitive, an inveterate graduate student who used to rub my feet at the end of the day with a lovely pink peppermint lotion from the Body Shop. It was young and romantic. You'd have thought we were happy. I think really we were happy. He was good for me: People met him and liked me better because I was going out with him; his sweetness redounded to me like a sunny day on a dark sidewalk. I could have and probably should have spent the rest of my life with him, might have avoided scenes like the time some guy I was seeing later on chased me down Topanga Canyon with a hot frying pan, screaming at me something about learning to make my own goddamn omelets. In other words, had I just stuck with the good boyfriend, I could have prevented a good deal of extraneous craziness.
But something went wrong—terribly wrong. The calm I had during those years was like a dormant illness or an allergy that doesn't emerge until later in life, or something you don't see coming because it's coming from within: You are making yourself ill. I became seasick with contentment. It was nauseating daily, and I couldn't still myself against a funny feeling that there had to be more to life than waking up every day beside the same person. To say I was bored would be to misunderstand boredom: I did not need to take up table tennis or ballroom dancing—I needed a sense that this wasn't the end of the story. The idea of forever with any single person, even someone great whom I loved so much like Gregg, really did seem like what death actually is: a permanent stop. Love did not open up the world like a generous door, as it should to anyone getting married; instead it was the steel clamp of the iron maiden, shutting me behind its front metal hinge to asphyxiate slowly, and then suddenly. Every day would be the same, forever: The body, the conversation, it would never change—isn't that the rhythm of prison?
My imagination, my ability to understand the way love and people grow over time, how passion can surprise and renew, utterly failed me. I was temporarily credentialed with this delicate, yummy thing—youth, beauty, whatever—and my window of opportunity for making the most of it was so small, so brief. I wanted to smash through that glass pane and enjoy it, make it last, feel released.
And so, I cheated on him. With everyone I could. Bass players, editors, actors, waiters who wished they were actors, photographers. And everywhere I could, like that Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon video: on the floor, by the door, up against the minibar. I couldn't sit still or stand still or lie still. And I didn't want to lose Gregg either.
He knew, or must have known. But he was such a gentle guy that he gave me a chance to fix the damage. We were sitting at brunch one Sunday; Gregg was in his denim jacket and Sonic Youth T-shirt, his hair swept across his face, and he grabbed my hand over the table and looked at me so earnestly that if it had been a movie, the audience would have laughed. "I wish I could make whatever is bothering you feel better," he said.
"I know," was all I could say.
Months later, when Gregg found out for sure what I was doing, when he went through files on my Mac and found letters never sent to this lover or that one, he didn't want to make me feel better anymore. He threw a two-thirds-empty bottle of Stolichnaya at my head when I finally found him at a friend's house. He told me, I was your only chance at happiness—now it's over for you.
Years later, when I was dating a guy who drank much too much and did things like toss lamps around because he had a temper when he was loaded, and I was ducking to avoid some projectile and wondering how I'd found my way to this, I knew Gregg had been right: I could have been a contender; it was over.
And then, somehow, years go by.
Dating this person for three months, that one for a few weeks, sometimes longer. They come, they go, someone is always coming as someone else is going; it's not like there's no one, but it's all so lonely. I have no trouble meeting them, and I meet them everywhere: the usual places like friends' rooftop barbecues and downtown dive bars—but also in business meetings, where we end up making eyes at each other instead of working, or standing in movie lines or walking home at night. I am a hopeless, shameless flirt. I wish I were shyly, quietly intriguing, like Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, like someone French and fashionable who knows how to twirl her ladylike locks just so and walk adroitly on kitten heels, who is all gesture and whisper—but I am unfortunately forward and forthright: When I am interested in a man, he absolutely knows it. And I like men quite a lot and convey so much excitement and heat that I can keep the game going, at least for a while. Occasionally, I meet someone truly wonderful, and my heart breaks because I don't know how to sustain the energy. It never quite starts, and I can't tell you how it ends—all this pretty persuasion is a big pull for men, but then they're gone. All of them. Somehow, I can seduce and be seduced for a moment here and there, but I can't seem to meaningfully connect. That's why it's not seduction at all; if it were, I'd be getting what I want.
And I can get what I want in so much of life. I can sell sand to the Saudis, tea to the Bengalis. I get fired from one great job and then hired by a better organization. I decide in my thirties to go to law school and get into the very best one despite some questionable credentials. It's what you would call not a bad life, even a good one.
But I am baffled by men. When they want me, I don't want them; when I want them, they don't want me. We are just shooting dirty pool. Or maybe it's more like I'm still sitting at the baccarat table at a smoky, dingy casino in Reno, it's well past 3 a.m., I'm in hock to the house, I'm drinking bottom-shelf martinis and eating stale canapés from the complimentary smorgasbord, my mascara is smudged, there's no reason to reapply Cherries in the Snow to my chapped lips, it's long past the point where any reasonable person would have cashed in her chips and gone home—but I keep thinking I still might win or at least break even one of these hours or days.
Age is a terrible avenger. The lessons of life give you so much to work with, but by the time you've got all this great wisdom, you don't get to be young anymore. And in this world, that's just about the worst thing that can happen—especially to a woman. Whoever said youth is wasted on the young actually got it wrong; it's more that maturity is wasted on the old. I was both emotionally unkempt and mentally unhinged—deeply depressed, drugged, sensitive, and nasty all at once—during the years I was supposed to be spousing up. My judgment was so lousy, I probably deserve plentiful wedding gifts—Tiffany silverware to serve several dozen—for all the people I didn't marry, because the men I dated were awfully bad choices, and I was not such a good bet myself.
These days, I am a stable adult professional—a practicing attorney, capable of common sense—but I still know how to live life on the edge. I was a terrifically brooding and mature teenager, then a whiny and puerile adult, and now I may finally approximate the grace of a person who has come of age. But it took a very long time—probably far too long. Now that I am a woman whom some man might actually like to be with, might actually not want to punch in the face—or, at least, now that I don't like guys who want to do that to me—I am sadly 41. I am past my perfect years.
No one says to my face that 41 is just a little too old to still be dating—in fact, people like to point out how it's normal these days, which is also true—but I know what's up. I just moved a couple of months ago, and I made a determined effort to put my effects in order. I went through a box of old photographs and contact sheets from shoots I had done throughout my twenties and thirties, pictures in all kinds of poses, various stages of dishabille and froufrou and frippery, too much makeup and barely a bit of blush, Kodachrome and black and white, in studios and hotel rooms and cornfields and corners of streets—piles of portraits, marking a life. And I looked at the girl in all these images, as varied as they were, and still I could see the same person somewhere in there. But most of all it wasn't me anymore. It's not what I look like now—I have aged since. Oh, it's nothing to cry about, nothing to mourn for—I probably have another decade before I really start to look old, but something has changed.
I don't know what it is—I don't have wrinkles or age spots or any of the telltale signs that the years have gone by. Thank God for La Mer and Retin-A and Pilates—and, yes, hot sex, which is good fun and may be no more than a Maginot Line against the inevitable, but that's not nothing. And my hair, honey-highlighted for years now, has the swank length of mermaid youth—which is how I plan to keep it no matter what proper pageboy is age-appropriate. No question, there are physical facts about my age that are undeniably delightful. I am much sexier now than I used to be—I suddenly have this voluptuous body where I used to just be skinny and lithe. Really oddly, a couple of years ago I got serious breasts, to the point where people think I've had them surgically enhanced, which I certainly have not. Still, I think, the honest truth is that I'm just not as pretty as I used to be. Something has abandoned me. I don't know what that thing is—they've been trying to jar it and bottle it for centuries—but it's left, another merciless lover. My hips are thicker, my skin is thinner, my eyes shine less brightly—will I ever again glow as if all the stars are out at night just to greet me? What finally falls away, after enough things don't go as planned, is that look of expectancy—which, when worn down to pentimento, is revealed to be exhaustion.
So here's the funny thing: There seem to be more men coming around these days, and they keep getting younger as I get older—I'm an interesting, mature woman to a man in his twenties, while to a guy my age, I'm just jaded—but I think they are falling in love with a person I used to be, with a girl in a picture, with an idea or an image, not with who or what I am now. Because with every passing second, I feel I am less physically desirable, even though I'm finally, in fact, a desirable person. It makes no sense, it's not fair, and it sucks.
I'm hopeful that there will be a moment in the next few years when I'll be more striking than ever because some aura will wash over me in that way that these things just do: as when feminine confidence and feisty intelligence overwhelm the depredations of age, and suddenly women smolder anew—running companies, winning Oscars, reaping millions, landing heavenly younger men. After all, there are many famous women who seem ageless, like Catherine Deneuve; or have aged sexily, like Susan Sarandon; have aged voluptuously, like Catherine Zeta-Jones; have aged beautifully, like Michelle Pfeiffer. But eventually, at some somber and sobering calendar date, most of us lose our looks and likewise one of our charms—and I will lose mine. At which time, for me at least, there won't be much point to life anymore at all.
I don't want to look back at what was, tell stories of once upon a long time ago, of what I used to do, of the men I once knew way back when, of 1,001 rapturous nights that were and are no more—I don't want my life to be the trashy and tragic remains of a really great party, lipstick traces on a burned-out cigarette at the bottom of a near-empty champagne goblet. Sex and sexuality, at least for me, are not some segment of life; they are the force majeure, the flood and storm and act of God that overtakes the rest. Without that part of me, I'd rather be dead. And I know all I can do right now is hold on tight to the little bit of life that's left, cling to the edge of the skyscraper I'm slipping off of, feel my fingers slowly giving way, knowing I'm going to free-fall to a sorrowful demise.
Maybe I would not have to hold on with such tough white knuckles if I'd done things right when I was still young.
Oh, to be 25 again and get it right. People who say they have no regrets, that they don't look back in anger, are either lying or boring, not sure which is worse. Because if you've lived a full life and don't feel bad about some of what you did, pieces are missing. Still, there are some mistakes that one is eventually too old—either literally or spiritually—to correct. I can't go back.
