ahhhh i just spent the last three days reading every post on the emtts tag and im in love with your whole little universe. i kept meaning to make a list of all of the little things but i kept getting distracted and forgetting so i only started at april 18th bc i NEED (subject to your willingness to expand/care act this particular part of your universe) to hear more about all of the little stories of steve getting arrested (particularly hopper arresting steve?? and them breaking into steves parents house?)

thanks for this amazing space!! you’ve made a universe that ive been thinking about constantly and that expands on the characters in such a beautiful mundane way, its very cool!!

First, thank you so much! This is all so very nice of you to say and props for getting through everything in three days. It is quite a bit! It’s honestly amazing how much has been written in such a short amount of time. I’m only going to cover Steve getting ‘arrested’ and I’ll touch on Steve and Eddie’s breaking and entering at a later date.

Steve started having seizures a little after they closed the gate on the Upside Down for good or, well. They started noticing that he was having seizures after they closed the gate. It was heavily implied in the undertone of his doctor’s voice that these seizures were likely going on for a while and that they likely not going to stop anytime soon.

Steve took this news as well as anybody could.

Everybody was kinda waiting for him to have a breakdown over it, but it never happened because Steve was – well, he wasn’t fine. Obviously. But it is what it is, right? If the worst thing to come out of all this Upside Down stuff is that he’s a little dumber than he was before than how could he complain?

Max was learning how to walk again.

What Steve didn’t take well was his doctor telling him that he wasn’t allowed to drive anymore. In fact, he did not take that news at all. He completely ignored it, and he ignored the looks that Robin when give him when he drove himself to work, and he would say, “It’s not like I’m driving the kids around or anything. It’s just me.”

“And that’s supposed to make me worry less?”

“I pull over if I feel weird.”

He wasn’t actually driving all that much anyways. Robin got her permit and Eddie got the all-clear to drive again, so no one needed to rope Nancy into lecturing him about ‘the dangers.’ He didn’t need Dustin’s complaining or Eddie’s ‘hey, maybe you should listen to them’ or Joyce stopping him on his way out the door. And he didn’t need Hopper.

Steve was learning to accept that sometimes he needed help. He was doing better, but Steve practically lived alone despite the jokes people were making about him being at Eddie’s all the time, and he wasn’t going to bother someone just because he needed toilet paper.

Steve was sitting in his car outside of the Fair Mart, trying to remember why he needed to go there in the first place, when there was a knock on his window. He startled and blinked hard twice before looking over at the drivers’ side window. He frowned.

Hopper was standing there and he looked annoyed. He gestured for him to get out of the car and Steve frowned more, fumbling with his seatbelt before pushing the door open. For lack of anything else to do once he was out of the car, Steve said, “Hey, what’s up?”

Hopper frowned more like he was annoyed with Steve which was, in itself, was really annoying because Steve didn’t do anything. He was just here to buy… He was here to get… Wait. “Huh?”

Hopper sighed loudly and repeated himself. Slowly. “Give me. Your keys.”

Maybe it was Hopper’s tone or maybe there was some stock in what his doctor said mood swings, or maybe Steve was just tired of everybody treating him like a baby that needed taken care of and watched. Just when Hopper reached to take the keys out of his hand, Steve shoved him away.

Everything kinda blurred at the edges and the headache that’s been wedged in the corner of Steve’s jaw pulsed. He didn’t really take a breath until Hopper shoved him against the hood of his car.

Hopper cuffed metal around his wrists and said, “Good going, Harrington.”

Steve yanked on his arm and snapped back, “You’re not even a cop anymore. You can’t arrest me.”

“Call it a citizen’s arrest.”

Eddie laughed for four minutes of Steve’s five minute phone call at the police station. He laughed so hard that Steve knew that he was holding his side where the bites were the deepest because they were still tender, and Steve just rolled his eyes, “Yeah, yeah. Yuck it up. Are you gonna get me?”

“Hm, yeah,” Eddie grinned through the phone. “Yeah. It’s a little ironic that the Prom K-“

Steve hung up the phone.

The ‘charges’ that Hopper (not a cop) threatened to ‘throw the book at him’ for were driving without a valid driver’s license. There was a part of Steve that knew that this was all just for show to teach him a lesson, but still argued that he had a valid license because no one took it away from him, and actually, “This is false imprisonment, right? Maybe I should call my family lawyer.”

It was even more annoying that Eddie – rolling into the building smelling like weed an hour later – agreed with Hopper.

so-- surprisingly atm i'm trying to figure out The Plot. i wasn't sure if i was ever going to make ?? a proper plot for tmc just because like. i love tmc and the kiddos so much but bc i know i want it to be a webcomic style thing that's just scared me off from working on it. basically bc art hard. But i should do it because i want to have fun and i had a few like. lingering dream-thoughts about some things so i thought i'd try and push it more.

rn i'm toying with the idea of expanding what's going on with society. because right now basically, there's the "city thing" that chidori and co live in which is dominated by trains. but i don't think anyone knows the kinda Back Drop for tmc?? cuz i never talk about it?? but basically this is a futuristic wip where humanity had to adapt to earth's sea levels rising WAAAAY up (in a way that is totally improbable but like i'm not hard worldbuilding this world at all bc this is supposed to feel shonen anime like PFFFF. basically anything goes cuz i said so energy). so they use train rails and special train types to get around. tm.

i was originally thinking of making wholly different societies that have something different instead of train masters BUT TBH, i think everywhere has train masters like its a global thing but chidori's city is just a big ass city and governments are still different like how bangkok, nyc, and paris all have different currency pff. basically my scope of the world is just expanding.

anyway tho, chidori's city has the largest population and by virtue of that its the one most prone to diseases, struggling, and economic stagnation. rich people gotta rich so they hate this.

my thought for the plot is actually around the strength of the sturgeon dollar. tl;dr the money in chidori's city is called "sturgeons" like the fish (and is colored similarly) but its actually got a poor exchange rate with the other cities. this is something that is concerning to the herme family who bellamy is the youngest child of. (bellamy below--the diamond prince and one of the s-rank train masters tm)

bellamy is technically the "odd one out" of the herme family and is treated very poorly behind closed doorsaside from his illustrious and beloved image by the public. his family is full of law makers and politicians, but they also have heavy ties with crime (which is what i'm kinda developing now) and they have links to crime various other syndicates across the flooded world. the problem is, because the sturgeon dollar is so weak it puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to negotiations with other politicians and syndicates. so with the under-the-table go ahead from the government, they have begun operations to start working towards destabilizing pretty much every city society (at the expense of civilians obvs) to try and either make the sturgeon dollar stronger, or to introduce an entirely new method of currency only for the elites.

me playing with the idea of yagmur being a double agent has to do with the fact that yagmur is a secret train master branch basically akin to the fbi or z-rank. they're covert ops. he's technically been assigned to work for the government of chidori's city to help with whatever tf this plan is but at the same time, he and bellamy are in a not-so-secret secret relationship and despite coming from money, bellamy hates his family. so yagmur is loyal to bellamy before anything else. but at the same time, bellamy isn't necessarily concerned with citizens--he's concerned with revenge and tearing down his family. so if i were to classify things as they currently are:

chidori and his main friend group (amehana, solange, bev, folami, and markis) are on the side of their city and protecting it from like everything.

bellamy and yagmur on their own side trying to take down the herme family.

the herme family and government (and some other entities) are on their own side trying to sabotage other cities to strengthen thier own dollar and since yagmur works for the government he's also kind of involved in this too.

so that'sssss currently where i'm at. i still need to figure out how the train academy works, what's up with these semi-magical weapons, redesigning folami (AGAIN but thankfully i think i have a good idea this time) and just other stuff to uhhhh make this make sense. maybe figure out the city situations as well?? just a lot tbh LOL

hi, i know you’ve probably been asked this a million times but i just reread your saebyeok/jiyeong fanfic on ao3 with the new season coming out! it’s genuinely amazing and i completely understand if you’ve decided to no longer post for any reason, but I just wanted to know if i should keep a lookout for the next parts or not. it’s such an amazing story, and rereading it reminded me why it’s been in my bookmarks for 4 years lmao but seriously i’m totally sorry if you’ve gotten this question a million times, i just wanted to know!

omg hi!!! pls dont apologize, aaa this is so nice to hear <3 ive noticed the influx of new comments/bookmarks on that fic, its genuinely been so lovely to see. im ngl i get pretty bad writing anxiety, and when i started writing that fic, i never expected it to get much attention or to have the amount of ppl commenting saying that they'd attached to it so strongly ... it was so cool and so surprising and also. so so terrifying. LMAO. especially as i wrote it to be pretty self indulgent. (i love timeloops sm and i mostly wanted to use the timeloop as a background device to explore saebyeok/jiyeong. who dont really get much canon screen time together all things considered yet have one of the biggest emotional moments in the show. doomed yuri ftw.)

all this to say -- i got anxious, esp about my writing, then awful life stuff got in the way, and then my draft just kinda sat there staring at me lol. i am a chronic late updater (i once updated a fic after five years </3 i dont really leave fandoms so the fandoms ive written for are never actually too far from my mind.) so, yes, i can confirm i am finishing it. my fiancee has been badgering me for four years to go back to it and ive slowly been chipping away at the writing process. it will be done and, length-wise, itll also be extra long as theres a lot to get through. i dont want to say when bc deadlines give me anxiety, but its in process and i will update once im ready :)

id love to see this fic through to the end, ive had sm fun writing it and expanding on the characters and just kinda going feral with all the different possibilities. one of my fave scenes that i ever wrote was the battle royale dinner scene with the violence and the fucking deer antler and the like. ricochet effect of a certain decision saebyeok made earlier in the chapter + it coming back to haunt her here. (gihun and saebyeok violencing each other makes me sick so naturally i write it happening several times. 💀🤡)

writing it reminded me of why i love writing, why i love timeloops, and, i suppose at its core, why i love fanfiction most of all.

"is it enough for you?" , but yes, i actually elaborated on this a little more elsewhere in other tags because i used that shot of that scene again for another edit.

so, expanding where i left off:

the images chosen are more the vibe for the quotes but the one from BSR is very specific

it's a great scene and it's so well-acted bcus she feels BAD for him here.

she pities him. she feels bad for him because he's losing her bcs she's not going to settle for these terms

because she knows she's amazing

and she's so self-posessed in the scene

and he cannot handle this and so it manifests in the reaction(you're making a big mistake; except that is his own big projection)

she's willful and knows her worth and won't diminish herself for anyone

...and i chose the reaction from the scene bcus it's not necessarily at odds with these descriptions (of her 'prudence')

bcs it takes a lot of dignity and self-worth and inward grace to stand one's ground enough (to withstand the 'tide of their prince')

...to give that rejection that by all social and cultural norms and graces she was simply not supposed to give. or was at least supposed to couch in more self-effacing terms.

but yeah anyway i know people thought BSR was 'trashy' but i actually thought the acting and chemistry between them was really great and maybe even lifted the writing from its weaker points.

because just the way he reels back at the line 'is it enough for you?' in all its pity-wrought glory...firstly, because it seems like it's a question no one has ever thought to ask him before, and secondly, so it gives way into that transformation from the shock into anger (how a 'lesser' person is daring to pity him, how he doesn't want her pity, he wants her love) which is just...chef's kiss. she absolutely obliterates his dignity here, not only in her rejection but in this eloquent explanation as to why this is her answer, and in the finality of her conviction. it is delicious. they could have this scene anywhere, in this darkened staircase for its the tudors copycat setting in this lithuanian palace, or on a fucking greenscreen, and it would still be just as powerful if these were its actors.

(im realizing that if anyone who is reading this hasn't watched they're going to think i'm an insane person based on this description... so hopefully the actual beats of the scene below will reveal what i mean, lol:

there's also a compelling subversion of (modern) expectation here, because...the only different thing in this equation is the status of the man asking to love her, asking why love is 'not enough'. for most 16c women of anne's status, no, 'love' wasn't enough. security was preferred. and, actually, it's very anachronistic how much this opinion is villianized (see, tobg:

...when it's like...yeah, a man's love was considered worthless. if it wasn't, they wouldn't have considered betrothal contracts to be a necessary evil!). it's very easy for him to say that she would 'want for nothing' (households, jewels, etc, one assumes), and she isn't allowing his ease: she's contradicting him, and pointing out that there is little security in the position of royal mistress.

herein lies the constant counterfactual moralistic tutting: anne 'should've just become a mistress,' always paired with 'this would, in the end, have made her 'safer.'' and it would have, as we know (not anne), but it would also, as she points out here, likely lead into her being a nonentity (a voice on the pillow, a woman hiding underneath the sheets and behind the bed curtains, an ornament for dancing), and she didn't want to be one: she wanted to be partner and collaborator of her future husband, not the diversion and darling of someone else's.

i spent the last hours reading tessellate from the start so i just wanted to drop a little love because eeeeeee i like it so much!!! first off all ur characters are a hit!! dynamic personalities, and they all mesh with one another really well in interesting ways. it all feels like a little peek into the lives of random people and sometimes that all you really need babey! i'm excited to see where you go with things especially with atlas, dan (my beloved), also the way that there are multiple storylines/ a large cast of characters yet i never feel overwhelmed <3333 and ofc visually, the post are lovely. the one juxtaposing frances and atlas coping...u know you ate with that. that last closeup with ares and dan with the lighter and frances's recital?? so pretty!! stapled in the brain.

on a less serious note, frances and icarus SAVE ME i like their dynamic so much their interactions seem very organic and fun. a friends to lovers (would they fall under that category..ik he's her boss but they're friendssss) for the ages. i feel like with a name like icarus things are destined to get messy between them and im afraid of it but also im not....but also i need only good things to happen to frances always, tu sabes. and its so funny that i finally read this after you mapped out their first kiss scene, bc i would not have survived the irl four years of building their relationship up godbless <3 also BEEE!!! sorry i just remembered i love bee and i hope she stands up to her boss at work one of these days (and gets whatever she wants for the rest of her life despite how inadvisable it may be at the moment :) )

this seriously made my evening i think i reread this about ten times!! i honestly had to retype this message several times because just being able to receive commentary like this is everything. a lot of these characters have been with me for such a long time so to be able to share the little dudes livin their lives AND have people enjoy it??? AWESOME! a lot of the scenes you mentioned are also seared in my mind forever LMAO especially the scene between frances and atlas. i think the week i was gathering everything to shoot it, i completely scrapped the original and the parallels post was a complete spur of the moment thing but i'm glad it happened GAH i'm so excited to share more in the future <3 also with icarus and frances, they're actually my most difficult pair to write for simply because initially (in my ts3 days) icarus was supposed to be such a small part but they had such a good dynamic i had to expand that! so he's a fairly new character for me!

I wish Jaehee had an actual romance like the other routes have. Even Rika gets one if you do V's first bad ending. Sure it's toxic but its something. I'm supposed to believe me and Jaehee stay platonic throughout the whole thing?? She has some lines that seem to hint the beginning of feelings but it never gets expanded. She's smart, diligent, loyal, knows judo and can get shit done and yet they waste her potential!! She could of taken care of the main plot if she was allowed to use her judo, I promise you that! We wouldn't need the whole 11 days!!

The closest we get to a romance scene is when Jaehee passes out from preparing the xmas party in her route of the xmas dlc and the MC kisses her cheek and one of the options you can pick is like 'One day I'll tell you my feelings' LIKE WHEN IS THAT DAY COMING???? Also some anniversary and bday chats have some cute romance moments like when Jaehee wasn't sure about her swimsuit but when she thought of you seeing her in it, it made her happy and then wanted to walk the beach together just the two of you.

The company still makes anniversary and birthday art but I dont think theyll be making any more game stuff so this is all we get for her. She deserves better than this!!!!! She is the best character in the game. She cares about you so much and the feelings are mutual soooooo like why not go all the way??

Also, I was looking at her normal ending bc there's a cg of her and Jumin fighting over you in a "Hey, join my company" kind of way and as a bisexual, it's a lovely cg.

I'd still pick Jaehee over Jumin anyday but it's still nice to see two hot people fighting over me

Not really a request but just me being curious. What did you thought of the new wuwa storyline and the changes Kuro games made?

I made a mistake on going to the wuwa reddit page and many people are dickriding the cbt1 story and are blaming CN players for being too "soft" when they actually had valid criticism.

Don't get me wrong I wished there were some things that they kept from cbt1 such as the crownless battle but the cbt1 story made me want to avoid it like a plague. And this is not me saying the new story is better (bc you can tell it's really rushed as the result of the 6 month rework). There are many issues that I didn't like and wished they could expand more but as of right now we can only wait until Kuro games resolved the issues

to be honest when i first played wuthering waves, i was one of the many disappointed players.

my reasons were simple, bad graphics, storyline and mechanics seemed overly like genshin (the waking up and you suddenly have a friend(s) waiting for you, wishing, leveling up, daily tasks) and nothing huge was really going on between me and understanding the story.

but what really made me continue to play was how fun the gameplay was, and how f2p friendly the game is (they spoil us a lot and im very happy about it) and tbh, i dont feel like im doing a chore when i play the game, i genuinely enjoy it a lot.

my only criticism was the graphics (since it still hasn't gotten better for me from the first release until now) and my understanding of the story. i dont understand who Rover is and what is their main purpose.

for the character's being rude to the Rover in cbt1, im actually super surprised cause i never heard of this version of WUWA until now, but im at a 50/50 opinion.

part of me really loves the idea of every character being wary of the Rover cause it gives a sense of realism to the character's personality, i like the idea that from the beginning, people were afraid or didnt like you but through your hardwork you slowly gained their trust, its a super cute idea and im a bit sad that it was gone.

what i do admit is the story with Awu, where he steals our kill and doesn't even thank us or anything, maybe it got a bit too much since the game IS supposed to make the story likeable for players, that way they can enjoy the game more, if the characters are lovable then so will the players be.

overall, ik a lot of people have been saying this but i have to agree with them when i say that WUWA has only been around for a month (?) now, and im sure Kuro Games is doing their best to fix these issues and provide a proper experience for their players, i dont sense the company wanting to rip off its players or neglect them like how Hoyoverse did with genshin, so i dont feel like ive lost a lot.

well i mean if ur looking at it with any amount of analysis its easy to see where im coming from i think. aladdin is positioned as the bad guy in twisted, thats the point, and hes the bad guy bc hes a scummy broke dude who is way older than his gf and disrespects his parents and doesnt have a job or whatever. he wants free handouts and steals for fun.

jafar is the good guy and respects law and order. hes basically a cop and is positioned so that no one respects him and thats whats sad about him or whatever. watching this musical ur supposed to see him and aladdin and think well gee whiz clearly jafar our protagonist is a swell guy who just wants law and order and aladdin is gross and weird.

u can probably see where im going with this but if you apply this thought process to real life ur a fucking cop. or at least a conservative. its a really fun musical genuinely but i dont like what it has to say and i dont trust starkid for making it, even tho my bf is really into them lol.

Jonsa- a drabble that is not a drabble

Sansa hated being single. 

She knew the magazines and her girlfriends said it could be fun. That she could take the time to find herself! And yes Sansa did consider herself a feminist, and she didn’t need a man to feel fulfilled...but damn it,  was it so wrong to want a cute boy to come home to? Sansa knew herself quite well already, anyways.

You need to get laid said a voice in her head that sounded suspiciously like Arya. And UGH, while she loved her little sister to death, she didn’t really want love or sex advice from the happily engaged younger Stark. Not all of us met our soulmates at 18 at Soccer Camp, Sansa thought a bit bitterly though she would deny that. Sansa loved Gendry and Arya, but sometimes planning another’s wedding left her feeling a bit like a lady over 25 in a Jane Austen novel. 

Spinster.  Gods, maybe she did just need to get laid. Maybe the months of “what is a clitoris” Harry had left her brain addled. That would explain what she was doing. What she had been doing, every Wednesday at 3:45 for a month.

The Stark family had donated over 5 million dollars to the Wolf Conservatory and it was quite natural that Sansa would come and visit. She had a soft spot for the creatures anyways. But what used to be an every other month trip had become a weekly excursion when they had hired the new handler, Jon Snow. 

She had first seen Jon with a wolf’s mouth around his head. She had shrieked a bit (it really wasn’ t what she expected to see after 8 hours in an office!) and Jon had popped up laughing, explaining that he was quite safe and not to worry. 

Jon had  thick curls, a humor that skirted towards dark, and spent his days working with animals. Would any sensible person who  was attracted to men blame her? 

So she came once a week now. It really wasn’t that big of a deal. And they flirted. It was the type of flirting that Sansa couldn’t tell if it was for fun or leading somewhere. He watched her the same way he watched his wolves, but he never asked her out. He didn’t even have her number. 

“Hello Sansa,” He says as he walks up behind her, and gods did she mention his voice? The deep timber of it had been a frequent star in her dreams lately. 

“Hello Jon,” And if she smiles a bit like Marg taught her, well it’s good that she learned something in King’s Landing. Jon watches her but his eyes flit to the wolves in front of them. The mother wolf and two of her older cubs are laying in the grass. Sansa sneaks a glance at his profile and is a little lost when he seems upset. 

“I’m afraid I have to tell you something” he begins, and oh no this sounds way too serious for the half hour of flirting she had planned. Did he find her frequent visits off putting? Was he telling her he wasn’t interested? Did she think she was a stalker? Her family helped make this conservatory, she had every right to be here!

Calm down Sans, 

“I’m uh.. leaving in a week..to go to Alaska to study a pack of wild wolves.”

Oh. Well, he definitely doesn’t think she’s a stalker. Jon looks excited as soon as he mentions the word Alaska but also, a bit sad. He’s got a half smile on his face and he’s looking over her shoulder. 

“That’s great!” Sansa says, and she tries to say it with as much pep as a high school band mascot. That might have been overboard, Jon takes a step back and seems a bit surprised by her cheer. 

“Yeah, I’ve always wanted to do it! It’s been my dream for years. But it’s three months.” He clasps his hand over his mouth and shrugs. “Well, I’ll definitely miss my better half. “ 

Better half? Oh gods, he was leaving and this whole time he had a partner?? Sansa wanted to go dip her head in the ocean. 

“Do you want to see them?” Jon asks, smiling. Sansa finds herself saying yes even though she definitely does not want to see them, thank you very much. 

Jon takes his phone out of his back pocket and puts it gently in her hand. She sees his background. His other half is a giant white dog. 

“I....” Sansa looks up and he is grinning happily at her. She certainly will miss that mouth for three months. The whole situation, flirting with a guy who technically works for her and trains wolves for a living, finding out he’s leaving, thinking he’s got a partner and finding out he means his DOG, strikes her as the height of absurdity. She begins to laugh, and finds Jon joining in. 

“His name is Ghost, my roommate will be watching him-” 

“Jon Snow, you tricked me!” 

Jon smiles a bit softer at her then, a bit more dangerous. He reaches for his phone back but really just takes her hand. 

“See, I uh... wanted to ask you out the second time you came back,,but I found out about this trip, and it didn’t seem fair. “ 

He says he’s not asking her out because of this trip, but his hand is still holding hers and the heat of his gaze makes her melt, just a little. 

“Well,”Sansa says and removes her hand, because she can play this game too. “I’ll have to keep coming to see the wolves while you’re gone.” 

“They’ll be expecting you back, Jon Snow.”

first of all this ask was so sweet out of the blue and made me smile a lot so thank you :) i appreciate it so much

i was gonna be all difficult and respond like "LOL are you sure" but yknow what screw it im bored and i've done that too often already so !! here ya go. everything i love about magolor

this is probably to be expected (especially bc of how often i draw him lmao), but first!! i LOVE his design. his design in particular just really stands out to me compared to the other characters ig; he has unique aspects to him that are so cutesy and charming yet contradicting and mysterious from how he looks alone. you have lil cat ears obviously but he still wears a hood and scarf so you cant see his face at all and glowing eyes??? damn. i also love his cape it's so flowy and cool AND ALSO i feel like the gear patterns are really fitting to him as well and go nicely with who he is. however, at first glance you might think his main purpose is to be a mechanic or engineer, and while that is true, he's also majorly known for being a skilled wizard, and his name is even based off the word magic. i feel like you wouldn't expect that from his design and that makes it all the more interesting... it's like there's underlying aspects that you get a suspicion about from just how he looks, which i feel is extremely fitting to his character. his design conveys that he's from another world so nicely too i feel,, you compare him to kirby and the others and he looks so different and otherworldly, almost. you can immediately tell that he's probably not from the same dimension or planet as everyone else. he has a ton of amazing concept designs but im glad they went with this one tbh it just. LOOKS the most like who magolor is and what he's supposed to represent imo. i love the others a lot too but !! in terms of his design his current one takes the cake for me

i adore how Absolutely layered of a character he is. there are so many bubbling details beneath him that have so much impact i just. God. him coming from another planet that's practically dead with very little to no life left and him not knowing what friendship is or how it's supposed to properly work, him betraying the others and falling deep into "obsession and hatred", him finding an exit, dealing with the massive pressure and apologizing to kirby, but him still getting up to funny mischief now and then !! you literally never know what you're gonna get with him (some of those might be personal interps but let's pretend they're not (whoopsie)). Just how he's developed and where he's now placed in the franchise,, he could be classified as comic relief yet he's still a main character if that makes sense?? i'm dying on the hill that magolor is a main character even though he didn't appear in forgotten land idc

i like to think he's similar to how bandee was but. also not ig lol idek -- like both of them debuted in one game and were expected to just?? not return??? but they did and became extremely significant characters who have made such a massive change. they could have chosen to cast magolor aside or whatever, say fuck it and kill him off, etc. but instead they didn't stop there and wanted to keep going with his character and give him a huge role. yeah you could argue it's bc of his popularity but i still think thats so cool tbh he just seems so unique compared to the rest of the cast in his own way and its. really interesting to see how he fits in the series in general !! him and his game are literally where kirby lore and more effective storytelling began imo and i think thats. So amazing they really tried to expand and develop the series through his character and it shows how important he is and how significant he places in terms of kirby as a whole

on a related note -- his personality is something unlike any other. they described him as "deceiving while telling the truth" and i think that's really important bc it's hard for you to tell when he's actually being genuine. and that's unique to most of the other characters and makes him feel out of place in a way and.. yeah mysterious !!! even when he apologized after he fucked up, his wording gave the impression like he just seemed to shrug it off like it wasn't a big deal despite the fact it obviously changed his life which also relates to the former thing and fhjkgfh Wow!! ofc dream collection could've taken place a bit after he actually apologized to kirby but y'know !!

also never get tired of the fact that man's ego is the size of the entire galaxy through hell and back . "look at me, i'm such a nice guy right?" I love how he actually Recognizes how important he is and acknowledges // acknowledged how he can use certain situations to his advantage and this may result in him coming off as stuck-up and thinking of himself more highly than everyone else but !! he doesn't care . Plus he's completely aware how strong he really is and just how he can use all of his abilities and skills to his advantage. Yet despite this, you may get a touch of underlying sadness, guilt, loneliness from him... all the more reason he's a layered character :)

Insanely powerful he is and yeah you could say it's bc of the master crown or whatever (probably is lol) but Listen he has such a wide variety of magical attacks and i think it's so cool bc i feel like he doesn't depend on them Too much yet he still shows them off?? if that makes sense?? like he still uses them a lot for things in, say, dream collection for obstacles i don't even know where im going with this LMAO but yeah his abilities are just so !!! very cool like you take one look at him and you think he would be weak or wouldn't have any powers yet he could destroy you from like 40 miles away or something and he's one of the most broken characters in ksa, kf2, etc. mans can summon literal black holes, portals and giant swords that only kirby could previously wield like it's nothing now, if that doesn't make him one of the most powerful characters currently then idrk what does (i remember in a star allies article while describing his ultra sword they stated something along the lines of "did he secretly stash up power from the master crown? or did he steal this ability from kirby?" and while it's most likely the former in a realistic sense could you IMAGINE how insanely strong he would be if he could actually steal abilities from kirby, the most powerful character with the most powerful abilities. Just putting that out there)

said this briefly in the design paragraph already but i appreciate how many things about him can go two ways that usually contradict one another. Maybe i'm thinking too much into it but lol the most obvious one is, ofc, how he acted as a friend vs. deceived kirby but other things too like. How he combines steampunk elements and high-tech elements at the same time which are opposites. as i said he's also a magician which is !! also not something you may see with those two together i believe star allies and his name in general adds a TON of fuel to this bc it confirmed how his name literally means "false paradise" and "wonderful place" if you combine translations which also contradict each other i also like to think that "magic" in his name can also refer to the fact that he's also extremely skilled in certain areas such as yknow. Getting to handle others or outsmart them, seeing things from others' perspectives, or even being a very talented speaker altogether (a magician or wizard can also mean someone who extremely skilled at something. just a fun lil thing)

more minor things !!! but i really love how he uses slang + speaks in a dramatic way, and how that relates to his personality as explained above. no other kirby character says "dude", "beast", etc. which i feel can really emphasize how he's not from their world but it's?? very funny to think about fhdjkgh. I know other kirby characters use katakana in japanese but i believe magolor is the main // most popular example in this aspect(?? lmk if this is incorrect though, i just know galactic nova and star dream use it but im not sure about anyone else) i also like how he heavily emphasizes certain words and phrases !! it makes him seem overexaggerated and even more unique than other characters who may act in a more realistic in a way. All of them are unhinged but they're all unhinged in their own way which compliment each other well and i feel magolor adds a lot to this mix :)

speaking of which god i LOVE his voice. i feel it's so fitting despite the fact it's animal crossing language as it's widely called. like they stated in the miiverse post, i love how they made it seem authentic by making him clearly say "kirby", it does kind of make it seem like he has an accent even in english ig. It's so squeaky and cute and adorable like go off lil man!!!

i think i got a lot of everything lmao i'm sure there's a ton more i haven't mentioned or didn't think to mention but just know i love Everything about him he means so much to me like fucking hell i love this character if you couldn't tell. he's just so Good he has so many things about him yet i feel we haven't even scratched the surface of how much there is. i really think this rtdl novel will bring // brought a whole new light to who exactly he is and what he's worth and i'm always looking forward to seeing him around again :) really hope he'll continue to have a lasting impact on the franchise

Something Golden one thing about me... i’ll use the word gold and something in a fic title. this one is almost set in canon universe. as much as a fic where two characters fall in love that wont ever fall in love in actual canon... can be. its sweet, bit melancholic at the end but tbh not really because we know... theyre gonna get together. in this canon-non-canon universe

5. Professional Hair Care this is a one shot where i think i might write a continuation. bc i liked the idea, i like writing “elderly” zosan, when theyre all settled down... i like this fic but id like it more if it was.... if i wrote... more. expanded upon this universe. 

4. sanji hates (winter islands) my first zosan fic! i think it mostly still holds up, its also my second most kudos’d fic, so i think people like this one. its fluffy (as i usually provide, fic wise), sort of pre-slash. i kinda like leaving fics open as pre-slash but like. its clear theyre in love with each other, so its never that open of an ending. 

3. Fisherman’s Delight to be honest... as this is a multi-chap fic and still on-going... lets just say i have hopes for this. i want to get it done, even if its all short chapters... i kinda want it to be/read like a diary? journal? but not really. id never write in first person, bc we have left that in the 2010s. its not high lit but im enjoying the journey of writing it so far.

2. Flutter Fairy Island technically canon. and also veryyy out there, i know. its fairy-tale based and i admit that its a bit... something else. however, i do think this is an underrated fic. but that might just be me. it really is a bit experimental but also, like, classic... classic tropes, iykwim? idk, i just like this one

hey!! i know you said the stuff about vel rot will be explored further along in the game, so feel free to ignore if im just asking for spoilers lol, but i just replayed the demo and im SO curious. from the flashback, and noel mentioning how hunters can be weird about it, i take it it’s not widely/openly talked about even among hunter circles? is that more because its, like, a delicate/sensitive subject what with the dying and all, or is there shame around it bc you had to mess up and leave the vel open to cause it? also, is this a very rare thing to happen, or just Not Talked About? noel knew you were sick immediately — is that because you were really far along, or is it detectable before it actually starts to ‘rot’ you? also, is there no way to cut yourself off completely from the vel as a general failsafe/hard reset, or is the process more of an external ‘i am opening/closing the vel in this specific area but am always left Open in general due to hunter shenanigans’? if you could pinpoint the specific time/location you left it open, would you be able to go back and fix it, or is it just about the length of time youve been open and the specifics don’t matter?

so, to start, vel rot is something that can be dormant for years before it suddenly triggers and manifests, or it can be something that happens over a matter of days. it's varied and there's no order to it, it just happens however which way it decides to happen.

for the hunter in the flashback, it was a case of it being dormant for many years; as for the MC, it's not something i have set in stone - i suppose it can be up to you. it could have been Keld, or it could have been another job and it was just that Keld triggered it, and then the fight with the wraith exacerbated it. the Rot is not detectable until it's been "triggered."

and you're right, it's not really talked about, there is a lot of shame around the Rot because of the idea that it is the hunter's fault. it's also a topic that the Order... not necessarily forbids, but definitely doesn't like it being talked about, which leads to more confusion/uncertainty around it all.

for our hunter specifically, the few other hunters at the stronghold between Keld and the start of the game probably DID sense something was wrong. however, there's a kind of unspoken pact that would keep any of them from saying something. most hunters are going to want to go out in a blaze of glory... there are a lot of hunters that had the rot but never let it be known because they got themselves killed first. i imagine the other hunters at the stronghold had the feeling that you were going to take this job, and you were going to let it kill you, before the rot could fully take hold.

so it's not necessarily rare... but it IS rare to see it get to the extent it did for the hunter in the flashback.

and this kind of "pact" mentality is a little different in the north and the south, though it wasn't always - we'll explore the differences in hunter culture later on in the game.

now i'm going to use this little drawing again to show exactly what's happening:

i explained before that magic exists in the living realm and that there are non-hunter mages. sometimes i like to explain it as "the force" and you can see that all humans have a connection to the force/magic in the living realm. i like to imagine it as little invisible tendrils that connect to the person's chest/soul/spirit/heart & are like a muscle that can be exercised and strengthened. the Vel stops the "tendrils" of non-hunters from expanding beyond the living realm, as well as containing the living realm itself.

with hunters, their "tendrils" expand beyond the vel, and even if the vel is closed, they're still connected - think like the roots of a tree. the Vel essentially functions as an anchor.

when a hunter opens the Vel, imagine something like when popeye eats spinach (lol).... the tendrils lighting up and channeling strength and/or magic into the hunter. the Vel works almost like a sieve here, to make sure that whatever is being pulled from the other side doesn't completely overwhelm the hunter.

i'll put this next part under a break (because it's getting long) and also because this is kinda spoiler territory so read at your own risk :-)

Noel's explanation isn't exactly completely correct, but the reality is that hunters don't really understand what the rot is, and the Order itself pushes the idea that the fault is with the hunter. they want you to believe it's the hunter, not the Vel - not the practice itself that is the problem...

the supposed understanding is that when you close the Vel, it "cleanses" the hunter's "tendrils" from whatever they had pulled in from the other side. if you don't do it properly, it's your fault for not cleansing yourself & that's how you get the rot. however, this is simply just. Not True. the reason that hunters' eyes change color like they do is because their "tendrils" and their physical bodies are being affected by the Vel constantly. whenever you pull something from the other side, it doesn't just go away when you close the Vel. there is always Something swirling around within a hunter that shouldn't be there. you are always connected to the Vel, and closing it doesn't actually change that fact. that's why hunters can sense each other and other creatures (like the wraith), because they can sense each other through the Vel.

vel rot happens typically because the Vel itself just sucks - i explained... somewhere... that when the gods made the Vel it was a half-assed effort, mainly because they wanted to ensure their ability to pass through the other realms wouldn't be affected. there are a couple of creatures, alongside the gods, that can pass through - dragons & giants being two main ones that no longer exist, and another one that we will see in game and i don't want to spoil just yet :-)

so it's less to do with the hunter not closing the Vel properly (though this CAN be a part of it) and just that the Vel doesn't function properly and things that shouldn't get through... get through.

think of it like an invasive species, or i guess the easiest comparison would be if you were to suddenly go to a new world where you can still breathe the air, and there's water and life there, so you could survive... but there's always the risk of alien diseases and viruses, which you have no immunity against. imagine every time the hunter opens the Vel they're breathing that air or drinking that water, which is technically safe, but there's also always going to be an incredible risk that you could catch an alien illness.

that's essentially what is happening but... in an abstract way? hahaha. it's not something i've super agonized over or bothered to try and explain completely in a "scientific" way, i guess. i enjoy the vagueness and lack of understanding around the Rot and the Vel in general, and it's something that always bothers me in horror/fantasy/sci-fi media when a concept is over-explained or that the creator feels the need to explain at all. i enjoy open endings and vague explanations and the idea that we just won't ever really understand what happened here.... but it was something awful.

as for some of your suggestions on how to fix it... you're onto something, is all i will say...
