that's what being in the astral plane feels like. but it's calm. most of your body is engulfed the stars that you once looked up to. now you were part of that. not as a star but as a being. your face is illuminated a white gold shimmer.

"love?" a voice echoes and before you know it, two familiar faces are close to yours.

"vik? jayce?" your voice echoes in the listless space. and it's only then do you register how.. normal they look again.

despite the stars that cover their body and shimmering light of the ethereal, they look like themselves. it was the viktor and jayce you knew. your hands move, your body floating as you hold viktor's face.

"it's you. viktor.." the mentioned male looks at you, guilt and love in his eyes. jayce's hand rests on the small of his back, a silent encouragement for the shorter man. "it's you.." your voice trembles. viktor can't look you in the eye until jayce's hand gently nudges him, and it's only then that he sees the absolute love pouring from your eyes. "i should be more concerned that we're stuck here, but fuck.. i missed seeing you."

you can't exactly cry in the astral plane. your tears end up sparkling and twinkling away and become part of the galaxy you've been pulled into.

"miláček.." you don't even realize how much you've missed his normal voice until now. even if it did have that ethereal echo, it was still him. your viktor. your forehead presses against his for just a moment.

"you... i have a lot to say, but let me be happy for just a moment." viktor tenses at your words, but he relaxes in your touch. you pull away to give jayce the love you missed giving him.

"jayce.. you did so well. more than well. i don't know everything of what you experienced, but you never gave up. didn't know i could be more thankful for you." jayce smiles brightly at your words as you hold his face between his hands in appreciation.

he looks at you with that look he used to give you and viktor when things we once normal. that silly lovesick grin on his face, but you know he can't express how thankful he is for you and him. "i missed you so much, too. you have no idea." he said softly.

"now, with that out of the way, what exactly happened?" the two men look at each other before slowly explaining how everything started and ended with them. and they definitely ended it, seeing as they were taken here by the crystal that jayce held so dear to him. "but why am i here then? i mean, it makes sense for you two to be here. you're basically soulmates."

"don't say that, miláček. we love you too. whether you're in this timeline or not." viktor said gently, floating to you and holding you in his arms. "we won't allow you to think so lowly like that. especially when jayce is around. and especially because that line of thinking does not seem to do well for us. my insecurities blinded me to want to fix everything to a dangerous degree.." he confesses.

"you’re ours whether you like it or not. and it's not like we can find a way to leave here." jayce smiled softly, his large arms wrapped around yours and viktor's shoulders. he hugs you two close, not missing a moment to hold you both in his arms.

"i guess it was really meant to be when i said you're both stuck with me forever." you joked, kissing them on the cheek. "but we're really stuck here?"

after your kisses, viktor starts giving his share of kisses. "it would seem so. not that i'm complaining." jayce joins in on the sweet kissing session, making sure to give as much as he could before you or viktor start telling him to stop. echoing laughter rings out in the empty void. the cold of the astral plane could never make you shiver when you were with the men who did nothing but give you warmth.

"maybe we'll just reincarnate. do you believe in reincarnation?" you asked between kisses. they pause for a moment, contemplating your words.

"eh.. well, i'm sure it wouldn't be crazy to believe in reincarnation." viktor said with the slight tilt of his head, his look silently conveying his uncertainty but uncaring of it.

"if we do get reincarnated, i'll make sure to find you two before anything else." jayce whispered, his face firm with determination and love.

"that's so sweet. and sappy." you laughed lightheartedly.

the two men can't help but join in with their own laughter and just for a moment, the stars twinkle a little brighter as if joining in on the joy.

The last scene in this chunk of movie scenes! Don't know where I'm going to go next, but we'll see where my muse takes me. Time and Malon have an, erm, discussion, and Twilight worries.

The drive home was blessedly uneventful, and Time handed Warriors’ car back off to him, his brother clapping him on the arm with a faint grin and a cough. Time sighed and returned the gesture, then watched him drive away with a shake of his head.

Neither of them had expected the evening to be quite so dramatic, and Time had thoroughly chewed out Warriors on the drive home, his brother nodding along with the lecture like he always did when Time went off on him. Warriors hadn’t seemed terribly apologetic though, probably because he knew that Time was mostly venting his frustrations. That or he was too tired to argue in return.

Either way, with their escape clean as could be and neither of them severely injured, Warriors seemed rather unbothered.

And despite how annoyed Time was at the close call and his brother in general, he had to admit that he’d... enjoyed it. Saving people again. Making a difference.

Even if nearly getting caught made him want to smack Warriors upside the head.

Why do I let him drag me along on these? he though with a shake of his head. Because you enjoy it just as much as he does, he brain helpfully reminded him, and Time huffed. Right. That.

Time quietly slipped through his front door, relocking it behind him and hanging his coat up. The house was dark and quiet, and he crept through the kitchen on silent feet, hesitating at the fridge as his stomach let out a growl.

Time shrugged, and yawned to himself as he opened the fridge, looking around for something to eat before heading to bed. Using his powers extensively like he had earlier always gave him a huge appetite, so he grabbed a large slice of cake, munching on it as he walked through the living room.

Then nearly threw it in Malon’s face as she clicked on a lamp and swiveled around on one of their chairs, wearing a bathrobe and an extremely foul expression.

Ah.

Warriors, I’m going to kill you.

“I believe you said you’d be back by eleven?” she said flatly, and Time swallowed the bite of cake that had gotten lodged in his throat. He knew exactly what time it was, and it was way beyond eleven.

“I said I’d be back later,” he clarified carefully.

Malon narrowed her eyes. “I know you said that. But the thing is, if you came back at all... you’d be "back later",” she accented with air quotes.

Ouch, Malon.

Time set down the remaining cake as Malon stood, joining his side. “Well... I’m back now?”

Malon stared at him, then her gaze shifted to his shoulder and her eyebrows went down.

“Is this... rubble?” she asked, dusting a little bit of ash off his arm.

Time took another quick bite of cake (he was starving okay?) then gave a light shrug, trying to stay nonchalant.

“We were just helping some people Malon. It was Warriors’ idea, he needed to get out and I—”

“Honey you know how I feel about you two going out and doing that!” Malon interrupted incredulously. “We can’t blow cover again! What were you thinking?”

Time held his hands out placatingly, swallowing the last bite of cake. “Darling, the building was coming down anyways—“

“You knocked down a building?!” she gasped.

“It was already on fire,” Time leapt to reassure her, “structurally unsound. It was coming down anyway, it wasn’t our faults.”

Malon put a hand to her face and groaned. “Please tell me you two haven’t been listening to the police scanner again.”

Time frowned. “Look, Malon, we helped save people. You act like that’s a bad thing!”

“Doing it like this is a bad thing, Link!” Malon whipped back at him. “Uprooting our family just so you and Warriors can get your fill of superheroing again is a very bad thing!”

“We’re not just “getting our fill of superheroing”, we’re assisting people, helping them,” Time said with narrowed eyes, “people who would have died otherwise. And if I hadn’t gone along then Wars would have gone by himself! Acting like we’re normal isn’t going to change the fact that there are people in this world we can help, Malon.”

Malon looked at him with an incredibly sad expression, though her eyes still sparked with annoyance.

“I know that. But why can’t you do it legally?” she pleaded. “You’re just going to expose us and we’ll have to move our family again.”

“I’ve tried to do it legally,” Time shot back, “they won’t let us! They hate us because of our abilities, you know what happened to Wild! If they won’t let us use them legally than this is the only way to do it!”

“Of course I know what happened to Wild, he still has nightmares about it!” Malon exclaimed. “I’m worried about him, but I’m worried about you too, Link! You’re so concerned with babysitting Warriors and proving supers aren’t dangerous, you forget to pay attention to your own family! Twilight’s having issues with his powers and Wind is having problems at school, and you don’t even want to go to Four’s graduation!”

Time huffed. “It’s not a graduation. He’s moving from the third grade, to the fourth grade.”

“It’s a ceremony!”

“It’s ridiculous!” Time shouted with a wave of his hand. “It’s just yet another way to celebrate mediocrity, there’s no point to it! There’s so many better things we could all be doing with our time!”

“Like what, following your brother around into burning buildings?” Malon snapped. “You’ve got to let Warriors make his own mistakes, Link! I know losing Sky hurt, but it's unfair to Wars that you think he's helpless without you!“

Something in Time crackled dangerously at Sky’s name. “Oh right, like we all thought about Sky? That he could handle it just fine by himself?”

“That is not what I meant Link—”

“He died, Malon! And I will not lose Warriors too!”

“You're losing your sons right now!"

A paper on the coffee table rustled as it fell to the floor.

Time and Malon froze with their faces inches away from each other, and turned to the couch, watching the papers still. Malon closed her eyes and sighed, looking suddenly exhausted.

“All right, Wild. I know you’re listening. Come on out,” she said in a quiet voice.

A few moments went by, and then Wild hesitantly poked his head around the couch. He shuffled forwards in his pajamas, not meeting their eyes, and any of Time’s remaining emotion immediately fled at the look on his son’s face.

“...Legend? Pup?” Time said, looking at a specific corner of the room. “You two as well, come on.”

Twilight padded silently forwards from behind a chair, turning hylian as he joined Wild’s side and gently nudged him.

“Legend, come on, come out. It’s okay, boys. We’re just having a discussion,” Malon said as Legend finally became visible, arms crossed as he slid onto the couch.

“Pretty loud discussion,” he muttered.

“You were talking about Sky,” Twilight said quietly.

Legend and Wild both stilled, and Time and Malon both hesitated as they exchanged a look.

“...yes,” Time said finally. “But it was just a discussion boys, it’s okay. Your mother and I needed to talk. Sometimes we just... talk with an extra...”

“Idiocy?” Malon muttered.

“I was going to say intensity, actually,” Time muttered back.

Malon turned back to their sons, who still looked worried. “We’re sorry we woke you, everything’s okay. Go back to bed, it’s late.”

“I was up anyway,” Wild muttered under his breath, then abruptly turned and went back to his room.

Twilight gave his retreating brother a worried look, then turned back to his parents, looking like he wanted to say something. But he closed his mouth, and let out a soft sigh that was too tired for his age.

“Goodnight,” he said quietly, and Legend mumbled a goodnight as well before they both followed Wild out of the room.

Silence fell over Malon and Time as their sons left, and stretched between them, both of them feeling drained and uncertain of what to say.

Time couldn’t remember the last time they’d raised their voices at each other like that.

“They’re not the only ones who should be in bed,” Malon said after a moment, looking at the stairs with a quiet sigh. “We can... talk tomorrow.”

Time nodded, his voice suddenly deserting him, and he didn’t meet her eyes as he walked away, leaving her to quietly turn off the lamp.

Twilight lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling as what he’d heard of his parents’ shouting echoed in his mind and refused to let him sleep.

He’d never heard them argue like that before.

Sure they disagreed sometimes, and had occasional little fights over things, but this... they’d sounded so angry. They never spoke to each other like that, and hearing it made him want to curl up under his blankets with his tail between his legs. Mom had come to check on him a bit after they’d come upstairs, but Twilight had pretended he was asleep, and she’d left again without a word.

Wild let out a small noise from where he was curled up next to him, and Twilight shifted, adjusting his position and sitting up with a sigh.

He felt awful for Wild. He’d already been having a sleepless night before they’d heard their parents shouting, and only just now been able to fall back into a restless sleep. His nightmares had been getting worse lately, and Twilight was at a bit of a loss as how to help aside from comforting him afterwards.

Which was probably why Mom had checked on them.

“Were Mom and Dad fighting?”

Twilight looked up at the quiet question to see Four in the doorway, nervously shuffling his feet as he clutched a blanket around his shoulders.

Twilight let out a small exhale, patting the sheet next to him, and Four climbed up, settling against his arm. It was a bit of a squeeze because of Wild sleeping on Twilight’s other side, but Four was small and they managed to fit without waking him up.

Twilight put his arm around his brother, and held back another sigh. It looked like everyone except Wind had been woken up— on their way upstairs, Twilight and Legend had come across Hyrule sitting on the top steps, his eyes glassy and face pale, and Legend had gone to his room with him and not come back. Twilight assumed he’d fallen asleep in there.

“They were just having an argument, Four. It’s okay,” Twilight said, ignoring how the reassurance felt hollow. “Even Mom and Dad disagree sometimes.”

Four was quiet for a few seconds.

“They disagree a lot more since Sky died,” he whispered eventually, and Twilight swallowed as he pulled him closer.

“Yeah. I know.“

Wild suddenly murmured a little in his sleep, brows pinched, and Twilight ran a hand through his hair, fingers ghosting past the scar on his face. Wild settled back down, and Twilight tugged the blanket further over him.

“Is there anything we can do?” Four asked in a worried voice, clutching at the stuffed animal he’d brought with him. Twilight sighed again.

“I don’t know, Smithy. I think it’s up to them. We just have to hope that they’ll work it out.”

Four swallowed. “...What if they don’t?”

Twilight closed his eyes, and rubbed Four’s shoulder. “They will,” he said confidently, and Four seemed to be reassured, snuggling up closer to him.

Twilight steered them both downwards and let Four nestle into his blankets, doing his best to silence the thoughts clamoring in his head so he could sleep. It was hard, but Twilight squeezed his eyes shut, trying desperately to believe his own words as Four fell asleep on his chest and Wild’s head pressed against his arm.

They will.

They have to.

I think it's really tragic how wukong never felt satisfied with his immortality it never felt enough for him if he never got imprisoned and met tang sanzang I believe he would've never stopped

and you can understand why, he never had parents he was never a child he was deferent from everyone else not a celestial being not exactly a demon just a stone monkey I think immortality and power made him feel safe and it didn't help that most of his old friends only became his friends because he's powerful I think it pushed the idea in his head that he should be powerful to be loved

Then he met tang sanzang the only person who got mad at wukong for abusing his powers or when he act like he should do whatever he wants because he's powerful that's how everyone treated him like and when macaque said to wukong "the great sage thinks he can do whatever he wants" it was a bit too late for that call out not saying it was his responsibility to guide wukong because it wasn't but he probably should've said those things in his mind earlier because it's obvious that he built some resentment that he kept for himself

and don't get me wrong wukong was definitely in the wrong but so is everyone who allowed him that mindset and even encouraged it mostly azure for treating wukong like he's above everyone even azure himself it only give wukong problems with his ego and sometimes narcissist destructive ways of thinking

and then he met tang sanzang who made him realise in the hard way that he isn't above it all because he's strong and immortal the thing he worked so hard for became meaningless

tang sanzang was the only person who was capable of saving wukong from his path of self destruction without him he would've probably looked for more immortality forever or till it finally destroyed him the pilgrims and him were on equal footing he wasn't treated above them like he was treated in the brotherhood he made mistakes they made mistakes they forgive him he forgive them they made each other better people they gave him a sense of belonging he could've never had with the brotherhood

That's why they probably stayed together even after the journey because they're family in the ways that mattered that's why wukong isn't obsessed with immortality anymore because they're more important because he doesn't need to be strong to be loved by them he just needed to be more empathetic and selfless and he did all those things

He can play cheeky and obnoxious all he wants he's definitely one of the gentlest characters in the show after sandy and it's all because of the pilgrims especially tang sanzang

I’m so sorry for this beyond late response; I really don’t know what to say other than I’m sorry.

I know my answer isn’t going to be “worth the wait,” but I still hope you (and others) find it interesting. Please bear with me and my somewhat incoherent thoughts as my love for these two has destroyed my brain.

Also, my answer is beyond long, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

My Favorite Timebomb Headcanons

They’re both bi.

-

They’re always touching one another. Not so much in an inappropriate way (though they can get too handsy in public); this is more holding hands, cuddling, using each other as a cushion, etc.

When they’re bored or preoccupied, they'll start “fidgeting” - Ekko plays with Jinx’s hair, while Jinx plays with Ekko's hands.

Jinx doodles on Ekko pretty much all the time, while Ekko straight up writes on Jinx - specifically notes and reminders to himself.

Basically, Ekko will already be in bed and suddenly he'll get idea for a project but doesn’t want to get up or he suddenly wakes up in the middle of the night and has to immediately write down his thoughts before he forgets them and well, Jinx is right there.

Jinx honestly only minds this when Ekko won’t let her wash off because he needs to figure out what he meant when he wrote down “hextech cheese sandwich solution to dogs” at 3am and obviously it being her on her left shoulder is essential to figuring it all out.

Jinx bites. Not so much in a sexy, bedroom kind of way (though yes, obviously that too); she just sees Ekko and has to go chomp.

Ekko is slightly insecure about his height, which makes zero sense to Jinx. Seriously, what is he even talking about? Ekko is the perfect height – he’s within reach of her kisses (and bites).

Jinx really, really, really loves Ekko’s arms and hands.

His whole everything does it for her; but boy, oh boy, does she have a thing for his arms and hands, especially his hands. The amount of self-control Jinx has when it comes to Ekko’s hands is truly something to behold.

Jinx runs cold while Ekko runs hot.

Jinx always wants to cuddle with Ekko in the winter because he’s her personal space heater and Ekko always wants to cuddle with Jinx in the summer because she’s a living ice cube. The two of them like to complain, but they're not fooling anyone; they love every second of the other clinging on to them.

OR

Jinx runs hot while Ekko runs cold.

Jinx gets uncomfortably warm, so she really enjoys being cold. Unfortunately, that’s quite rare for her nowadays due to her body producing its own shimmer; her body temperature is now basically someone with a deadly fever.

Ekko on the other hand easily gets cold and he absolutely hates it; so, he's not exactly mad at Jinx becoming a living furnace.

I’m honestly torn between these two versions and the vibes vs. 'evidence' backing them up. But does it really matter? At the end of the day one of them runs cold while the other runs hot and they balance each other out perfectly.

The Firelight’s truly love Ekko; they're beyond thankful to him and everything he's done for them. So, despite the fact that many of them hate Jinx and want nothing more than for her to be gone (dead), they are willing to accept her because Ekko loves her.

Some of them will never forgive nor make peace with Jinx, but they’re willing to coexist with her; while others are willing to get to know her and even befriend her.

It’s not easy for any of them but for Ekko, they'll do it and as time goes on it becomes less of a struggle to accept Jinx.

I’m a huge fan of Jinx being accepted by the Firelights not because they actually accept her (at least at first) nor because they’re such wonderful, good people, but because they love Ekko. He’s their savior and guiding light and they want him to be happy and Jinx makes him happy - so, of course they'll do it.

Jinx absolutely has a praise kink; she adores being praised and complimented in bed and Ekko has no problem indulging her.

I don’t have a single doubt about this. This is just fact.

Despite being so gone for each other, they both have a lot of insecurities, particularly when it comes to the others’ feelings and commitment to the relationship.

Ekko is scared he’s just a convenience for Jinx and she’ll easily abandon him again; while Jinx is scared Ekko’s going to realize he doesn’t actually want to be with her, because why would he.

To make things a bit more heartbreaking, Jinx sometimes wonders if Ekko is only with her because she’s the closest thing to “Powder” he can be with.

They have a lot of issues and it took them many years to work through them; but those issues and insecurities still make an appearance from time for time.

Ekko isn’t always great at taking care of himself; he’s always putting others first and he’s easily consumed by his projects and responsibilities.

But taking care of Jinx forces him to take care of himself.

He can’t argue she should go to bed at a reasonable hour, when he’s up at the same godforsaken hour she is nor can he complain about her eating unhealthily, when he’s eating the exact same thing or something worse.

Ekko is always running late; while Jinx (to many people’s surprise) is either on time or very early. When the two of them arrive late together, it’s because Jinx didn’t want to go to the thing and she succeeded in distracting Ekko (usually with sex).

Being together was one of the easiest things for them as their two pieces who fit perfectly together; at the exact same time though it was also the most difficult thing for them, due to their history.

Ekko has struggled with his feelings of guilt because it was so easy for him to be with Jinx and love her; he feels like he’s betraying his fallen friends and people. Jinx is responsible for many of their deaths and even when she wasn’t directly responsible, she still benefited as Silco’s daughter.  

Jinx has struggled with feeling like she’s betraying Silco and rejecting their bond as she doesn't talk about him for the sake of her relationship with Ekko. She can’t talk about Silco with Ekko at all, because anything negative about him (no matter how small) only confirms to Ekko she was abused and brainwashed; while anything positive or even neutral is like "attacking" Ekko and everything he's gone through.

Silco was the reason Jinx was happy and able to be thrive over the years and he's the reason why Ekko suffered and struggled to survive during those same years.

While they never truly come to terms about Silco, they still try and make an effort to respect the other’s feelings for him.

Gift giving is a huge part of how Jinx shows her love. She doesn't need a special occasion or reason to give Ekko gifts and she likes leaving them where he can come across them randomly. Her presents can be anything - from a cool rock she found to a specific piece of machinery Ekko wanted.

Oh and of course, a beyond valuable item she stole from some elitist Piltovan or vicious Chem-Baron who is more than willing to start a war over their stolen property.

Ekko knows she means well (at least he thinks she does); but he would appreciate it if she didn’t bring him and the Firelights more trouble with her gifts.

Which Jinx doesn’t fully understand.

It’s not that she doesn’t understand the value of things; but a cool looking rock and some wealthy Piltovan’s prized heirloom have the exact same value to her – she thought Ekko would like it, so why wouldn't she get it for him?

These two can be so beyond competitive it’s not even funny and nothing brings out their unhinged competitiveness than when they’re up against each other.

But they’re having fun and that’s all that matters in the end... ignore all the property damage and fires.

Sometimes when things get heated between them, Jinx gets a red blotchiness on her neck and chest; which she's more than embarrassed by. Ekko on the other hand tries to see if he can make her even redder and he’s more than smug when he can.

Ekko wasn’t always a great boyfriend to his previous partners, not because he was an uncaring asshole or anything but because he never opened up to them. He never shared his problems nor did he let them take care of him; he was always the caretaker. It also didn’t help that he put his responsibilities as leader and other people before his relationships.

However, this isn’t a problem with Jinx. Ekko is quite selfish when it comes to their relationship. He’s not willing to put others’ first. Not this time. Not if it costs him Jinx.

Jinx also knows him far better than his previous partners did, she sees past the front he puts up for others and is more than willing to call him out on his bullshit. Plus, Jinx is in no way shy when it comes to her wants.

Ekko has also learned that if he doesn't rely on her, she has no reason to rely on him. If he doesn't trust her, then she doesn't trust him.

Finally, Jinx tries to get Ekko to be more selfish, while this is for her own benefit (obviously), she genuinely wants Ekko to put himself first; she’s even willing to put herself second (at times), if that’s what it takes.

Over the years they balance each other out – Jinx makes Ekko more selfish and gives him the freedom to put himself first without feeling guilty, while Ekko makes Jinx less selfish and he's a good starting point for her to become more considerate to others.

Of course, Ekko will never be a selfish bastard who turns his back on his people and Jinx will never be a living saint who sacrifices herself for the greater good.

Ekko usually takes the lead in the bedroom. He loves riling Jinx up and embarrassing her in bed; he’s particularly obsessed with getting her to beg him to keep going,

However, it doesn’t take much for Jinx to ‘turn the tables' on him; her ‘begging him' is a sure-fire way to get Ekko to unravel quickly, which Jinx is more than willing to exploit for her own fun and pleasure.

!PLATONIC RELATIONSHIP!

Some time has passed and you weren’t exactly paying attention but somehow Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk were arguing with each other, and you could tell Shadow Milk wasn’t taking it seriously at all. You were just standing there but then you thought of something else you could do while they were distracted. You decided to see if you could find your own way home and went out into the forest. You roamed for a while and saw some pretty interesting stuff but nothing that could possibly get you home but you were a determine little child so you kept going.  

It wasn’t until almost an hour later they both realized you were gone. Pure Vanilla called out for you but he didn’t get a response. They looked at each other and started running towards the forest in a quick attempt to find you. They looked for you and went deeper into the forest. Shadow Milk Cookie could sense your presence unfortunately he couldn’t pinpoint where you were. “That ignorant kid don’t they realize how dangerous this forest is…” He was kinda mad but he cared about you so of course he was panicking. On the other hand Pure Vanilla was freaking out. How could he lose you again? To him he was the ignorant one for not keeping an eye on you.

Then they heard a scream just a bit further down the forest…That had to be you…

While you were exploring you didn’t realize the group of spores following you. You had an uneasy feeling that something was behind you, but you were too scared to turn around and face what it was. You build up the courage to turn around and see what it was and you pretty much regret no running then and there. You stood there like a deer in headlights just staring at the group of creatures. That’s when you screamed out of fear, and you saw the creatures go back a bit then slowly made their way to you. In shock you took a step back and kept doing so until your back went against a tree. You covered your face and brace yourself for whatever they were about to do to you.

You heard a crash and you flinched bracing yourself for impact but nothing happened to you. You slowly uncovered your eyes and saw that the creatures were nowhere to be seen. You gave out a sigh of relief and then you heard someone cough. You quickly looked to where you heard it and saw Shadow Milk Cookie and Pure Vanilla Cookie staring at you. “What do you think you’re doing?” Pure Vanilla asked you. You started sweating and got nervous. You wanted to say something but you stumbled with your words.

Before you could actually say something you got tackled to the grown by Shadow Milk Cookie. Not Hard enough to hurt you but enough to make you fall onto the patches of grass. He started tickling your sides or anywhere to make you start laughing and squirming. You screamed and kicked yelling at him to stop but that was hard to do since you kept interrupting yourself by laughing. This went on for a couple of seconds until you were tuckered out by laughing too much. Pure Vanilla kneeled down and giggled a little bit at your state. “That’s what you get for making us worry.”

Like...I sorta get the dynamic. Because it seems like despite being friends all of them are pretty lonely themselves. Y/N is sort of like a shard that kind of breaks the normalcy for them, so they kind of reject her in that sense. It easier to cling to coldness when its all you've known, warmth seems too scary. Maybe Satoru sees that and thinks he needs to hold them up in a way (not disrupt their normalcy), so enages in the way they like: the shots at Y/N, playing that game to act like Y/N doesn't mean much. Nice got them killed as you mentioned, being treated like weapons from a time when they needed to be nurtured. So maybe Y/N reminds them how hardened they have become, so they cling to the status quo of their loneliness in the friendship. Its like seeing how much more happy Satoru is but needing the reasurance that ‘You're still like us, she'll never get you because she hasn't been treated as disposable like we have, we have the same experiences you are better off with us, we only had each other, so it has to be the same'

Its not Y/N's respponsibility to heal them, but being open to her as a friend would do wonders for them. I just don't get Utahime posting that, it was mean. All of them were very mean. Utahime's reasoning seems like the same thing, she doesn't love Satoru but its that thing about familarity. Y/N's the other one, shining light on the ice in her friend group, the message may not be ‘He still likes me and wants me more' but may be more so ‘We're all fine, you didn't change him, or take him away from us, he's still our friend, with the same blood on his hands, the same fate as us as weapons, its okay, we'll all stick together'

But it would be nice to see it all addressed, because that video was like the final blow, she saw them post it, saw him laugh at the digs, the little jope she had shattered. Its necessary to hash out that instance. Love and friendship does help with wound and scars, both for Satoru and his little group.

Even the most simplest smaus show a lot things. You did an amazing job. Eager for part 3 (I hope you do it, give like a proper ending, I would hope a happy one, it would take him time given the extent to which it hurt).

As for your take of the post, it's almost exactly what I was going for, but I didn't want to make the post longer than it is right now, so I couldn't write all that in.

I think the friendgroup treats reader so horribly is because they never saw her as a permanent fixture to the group in first place, and they're assholes in general, all of them, including Satoru. Satoru doesn't stand up for reader when his friends mock her because (a) he's not sure how to display the "boyfriend" version of him in front of the friendgroup and (b) he tries to convince himself, and reader that they're mocking her as an extension of mocking him, which they actually do, the group is also very mean to each other in general

As for the reason utahime and shoko bully reader is because they think Satoru's gone soft (weak)

Ever since she came into their lives, and that makes them mad enough to extra hard on reader. They don't find it to be wrong, and they enjoy the reactions reader has to their bullying, as well as putting Satoru in that position, because they think Satoru is being a wimp if he wants to protect reader's feelings.

It's not just the girls that are mean to reader. Suguru and Nanami aren't particularly nice to her either, but they're also not invested enough to target her at every given opportunity. They're toxic to each other & horrible. All of them.

Satoru had 2 years to resolve his issues, to establish boundaries within his friends' group and treat reader with the dignity she deserved, but he failed to prioritise his relationship, and chose to be passive and evasive to avoid confrontation of any sort, even at the expense of his partner.

It's not readers responsibility to try to fix a man who doesn't truly want to change. Even if he does alter his priorities to appease reader, it won't be right, because he'd be doing that to hold onto the sanctuary reader provides him with, and not because he finds his current behaviour problematic.

With all that being said, I don't think a reconciliation is on the table for these two :(

i do think it makes sense for isabeau and loop to kinda hate each other at first....

like loop tried to kill siffrin when he was already sick and weak. even though loop lost or decided not to go through with it, isabeau still witnessed the aftermath. and he's so protective!! yes loop is also siffrin but that makes it MORE of a betrayal. like if siffrin tried to kill mirabelle or smth yknow, it's fucked up for someone you love to attack someone you love. but maybe if it was actually siffrin he would find it easier to understand the weird situation and forgive them - but loop is a different person now, and they're a person who's mean to isa's siffrin!

and then on loop's side, you've obviously got the jealousy (isa likes siffrin, not me) and attempt to create distance (this isn't my isa, just a fake copy). but you've also got loop's feelings towards their own isa, which could be pretty complex at this point. kinda depends on your headcanons for exactly what loop's og timeline looked like, but. they could be mad that og!isa never tried to confess like new!isa did, was loop!sif not good enough? or they could be mad at themself for not realizing isa liked them in their own timeline even though he was being more obvious, like, i fucked it up worse than stardust did and this isa is just a constant reminder.

loop is just very upset about many things, and i think isa would make the next easiest target after siffrin, bc he's strong and kind - easier to lash out at than anxious mirabelle or young bonnie or intimidating odile. plus, since romance has more cultural precedence as a sharp dichotomy that leads to jealousy, it might be easier to channel their feelings through that simpler lens (isa will never cuddle me like that bc he's not dating me, and never will bc he already has sif) rather than the more nebulous concept of friendship jealousy with its wider range of possible conclusions (maybe mira would tell me secrets like that if i worked to become closer friends, but maybe she never would. oh god now i have to figure out what i actually want and what i'm willing to risk to reach for it). so it's easier for loop to focus on being mad about the more straightforward thing that they clearly can't have.

Season 2 shows us Sahed's life is a series of cages and betrayals growing more constraining each time. That he hasn't given up is impressive (but giving up would not be in his character). Anger and magic is basically all he has to hold on to, and I think we have yet to see if his anger at Tonny was misplaced.

Cage 1: the concentration camp that he grew up in.

I'm not sure exactly how long ago this was, but I'm guessing 100 years, which means Ah'kon have not had freedom for over a century. And what's the first thing we see he's doing (other than being a cocky brat <3)? Building a flying machine to get out and see the wider world. He's enticed to leave peacefully because it comes with leaving. And so first betrayal of trust in someone offering an escape.

Cage 2: the research center. I think we'll learn a lot more about this, but clearly he started thinking about it positively, hence the happy picture. My theory is that the giant wave was made by Sahed, and when he implies he's killed before, that is the event he's referring to. We know that Steinheimer died young, but Sahed doesn't seem quite broken up about the guy. Since he says he was haunted, it just doesn't feel like that would be the haunt.

Cage 3: the circus

I think it's clear that Sahed was an addition after the circus started. For one, I can't see Sahed really confining himself the castle, but also it would be hard for him to live as a fugitive. So he manages to escape, but needs refuge and meets Tonny. Tonny promises to give him freedom from Kalgratt and that he'll support Sahed's cause. But Tonny continuously makes ill-fated promises that even a casual understanding of their situation is morally wrong. I want to write something about why I think Tonny is not good, even if he does not realize it. But suffice to say, Sahed didn't get what he thought he would get from the bargain.

Adding a cut because it rapidly passes into fast pass zone.

Cage 4: the circus but worse

Now he's alone in a cage. And when he gets out, it's not really freedom from the cage, it's just walking room. Because while in theory Tonny is going to help now, the circus is turned against him. They're morals have long seemed suspect - very selfish and disconnected with how their choices might affect people outside the circus. Sahed and Julia are really the only ones still concerned with anything outside the circus.

The third betrayal is Julia, but this is different, because he also let her down, and because he knew he was in a position of power over her. This hearkens back to when he was the leader of his group of friends and led them into the research center. He doesn't know, I think, about her 1 year limit, so he probably thinks he had even more influence on her decisions than he did. Honestly, I think he gets too much blame from others on her decision. She wanted validation that Tonny deserved it because she wants to live. But Sahed delivered when he should have realized the consequences. He feigned confidence in the plan that he didn't have. Her turning on him hurts but not in a way he can get angry at her about, although I think he has a right to be mad if she really doesn't support his takedown of the research center.

Julia can give up in a way that Sahed can't. The only person she has to save is herself, whereas he feels responsible for the Ah'kon's treatment (even if he isn't). Still, Julia and Sahed share a sense of righteousness, and I don't see meek Julia lasting.

I am totally here for the shipping too, but I really love Sahed's character. I love how we start with Sahed as a potential villain (okay we knew he wasn't but Julia def thought he was) and brat, but as we learn more about him, his motivation becomes clear as an activist -- he's still a brat (affectionate).

Thoughts on the “Look my Way” music video? For context if you don’t know, this is a fan song that’s just animated. Paranoid DJ had written this song awhile back, though Viv did take out some lyrics and switch them up a bit. What I personally don’t like is that there’s a line in the original where Stolas mentions the “impish play thing” line, as well as acknowledges that Octavia is hurting, and Viv cut that out. The song itself also doesn’t help for the show narratively really regarding the ship of Stolitz.

OMYGOD Okay so much to talk about here. It's a BEAUTIFUL song, amazing song, and I even loved the original of it. The animation for this AMV is breathtaking, everyone did an AMAZING job on it. This is what Helluva Boss songs should sound like. I was annoyed with that one scene, albeit very pretty where Stolas and Blitz have a string attached to the pinky finger, which is an indication of soulmates. This bothers me because a soulmate is either A. someone you have been reincarnated with over the years to love or B. Someone you click with- someone who completes you. You meet in every lifetime or they are the perfect person for you. This does not fit Stolas X Blitz AT ALL. They are not perfect for each other, they are complete opposites and the entire appeal and beauty of their relationship was the fact that they were fuckbuddies! They weren't even friends! They were tied up in manipulations, classism, and power imbalances. Their relationship required a lot of growth, a lot of work, and a LOT of learning on what love actually was, how to maintain it, and how to right their wrongs like-They needed to actively explore and learn what love means. They needed to find a real connection that would actually give them chemistry. Being soulmates is a complete cop-out. (Soulmates don't rely on reincarnation, but some do- and reincarnation is not a thing for demons???) You could say I'm overthinking it and being nitpicky with this visual, but this is exactly what it is! That is a soulmate string!!! He even says "I'll grant you this mercy, this bind on our souls-" LIKE BRUH wHAT !!! I'm so mad about what their relationship has become. They were toxic but not doomed. Now they're nothing Anyway..... still very beautiful and pretty

I have friends who actually know this guy and work closely with him. Apparently, Viv was the one who asked to change the lyrics of the song because it didn't "fit her story"???????? The lyrics changed: OG: "Come now, my little impish plaything, we both made our choice" Viv: "But dearest, I know better now I must give you this choice" It makes sense why she would want this changed since this song is about Stolas actually finally being in love. But it's still very sus because we still have not addressed Stolas's classism problem that seems to fluctuate episode to episode. OG: "Is this how she'd feel? Abandoned, all alone and left to fend For herself, for some semblance of happiness that doesn't have to end?" Viv: "Is this what you feel? Scorned by a realm that cannot comprehend, What you are, so I'll grant you this mercy this bind- on our souls needs to end" Again I can understand this change because we are going off-topic with Octavia here. However, I do find these changes very suspicious, especially if she wanted the song to better "fit her story". Because these circumstances are things that I have accused Viv of retconning before. Where Stolas wasn't actually in love with Blitz from the start and only saw him as a shiny toy, an "impish little plaything". Where Stolas was actually shady in cheating on his wife and not being there for his daughter nor really understanding her. "Home doesn't feel like home anymore. You ruined it." I can understand in the context of the song why these lines would be removed, but in the context of the overall story, I'm very suspicious of it, because those are very important contexts that people try to insist are "just people's headcanons" when they literally aren't. This could be considered active proof of Vivziepop retconning her story, but I will go with the latter and stick to my logical explanations for why the lyrics were changed- gonna try to have some faith here.

Undertale Sans - He chuckles but does nothing to stop the kid. Maybe he's enjoying a little Toriel sudden beam at these words and he decided she deserved having that. Sans always said she's part of the family, and since he doesn't exactly have a lot of family, he's glad she's here to support his brother and him.

Undertale Papyrus - He blushes with embarrassment but not for the reason you think. One day he was very tired, Papyrus accidentally called Toriel "Mom" and his brother and her teased him for MONTHS after that. He's terrified because of that tiny mistake, it's going to happen again. Other than that, he doesn't mind his kid calling her grandma. He never had a grandma in the family before!

Underswap Sans - He flushes, so embarrassed, apologizes and drags his kid away to explain to them that you don't call the Queen of Monster big mama jeez. Blue apologizes to Toriel, but she doesn't listen to him, already cooing over his kid and saying it's no problem.

Underswap Papyrus — I mean, he can tell the kid is confused. Asgore kind of unofficially adopted Blue and him, so he's grandpa. Toriel looks awfully similar to Asgore, so his kid just assumed it's Grandma, lol. Honey tries to justify to the Queen, but the more he talks, the more he gets embarrassed because he knows the Queen is not on good terms with Asgore, and he doesn't want to make her mad.

Underfell Sans - Oh please no. Underfell Toriel and Red have... a complicated relationship. They like each other, but also they don't like each other and they're constantly fighting when they're in the same room. Red didn't want to argue with Toriel today and yet here he is. Toriel got offended when the kid called her old, and with his legendary tact, Red says that's because she actually doesn't look that young either so he understands his child. Then Toriel asked him if he just said she looked old and Red realized maybe her age is a touchy subject and tried to retreat. But then Toriel got offended because he didn't answer the question and it made it worse. Please old lady, he just wants to go home!

Underfell Papyrus - Edge is terrified of Toriel. There are not a lot of monsters that scare him, but that lady is on a whole other level. He still remembers that day he accidentally lost Frisk and she almost beheaded him with fireballs. So when his kid randomly runs to her to hug her legs and call her grandma out of all people out there, Edge froze in pure horror. He keeps a safe distance, hiding behind a tree, as Toriel coos over the child. Then she stops talking. Edge looks and stares in confusion as his kid and Toriel is not here anymore. That's when a huge white paw crushed his shoulder. Toriel starts to scream at him for not being attentive enough, what if she was some kidnapper? Edge nods to everything she says, terrified, ready to run away the second she gives back his kid. Why does it always happen to him? Every time she talks to him he feels like the worst guardian ever.

Horrortale Sans - Well Toriel is the kids' grandma, sort of. She's part of the family, she's home most of the time and she's taking care of the child when the brothers can't. So grandma or nanny is really fine to describe her. Toriel is one of the rare persons Oak trusts blindly and he's always happy to have her around. So if she can feel even more included with his kid calling her that, he takes it and encourage it.

Horrortale Papyrus - Willow already kinda sees her as the mom he never had so that makes sense his child thinks it's their grandma. Toriel is close family, she watches over the children and she's a sweet caring nanny when the brothers need it so Willow could never not let his child call her that. Added to that, Toriel feels lonely and isolated sometimes, and he can tell being called grandma clearly made her day. He prefers seeing her smile like that than staying alone in her home, thinking of her past mistakes. She's not that different from him.

Swapfell Sans - He doesn't say anything, but he's extremely tense, staring nervously as Toriel knees to talk with the child. Nox is terribly angry right now, but because he's working, he is not allowed to say anything to her. He can tell she's mocking him. She wanted to kill the child when they were born because that would be a distraction for him, so he didn't believe one second in her little grandma's game. He's stressing out seeing his baby so close to her when she could simply decide to break their neck at any moment. Nox is ready to jump at her throat at any suspect movement.

Swapfell Papyrus - Rus slowly pulls back his child to him, nervous. He knows what she could do to his child and the last thing he wants is for them to get close to that tyrannic woman. He apologizes to Toriel and leaves, carrying his kid, as fast as he can before she has the time to realize who he is. He knows the Queen hates him because he was sort of a leader of the rebellion Underground, but he doesn't want his past to weight his child.

Fellswap Gold Sans - "HER? MY APOLOGIES MY CHILD, THIS IS NOT YOUR GRANDMA. THAT'S THE OLD EVIL WITCH OF THE WELL, STAY AWAY FROM HER OR SHE WILL EAT YOUR TOES." The kid looks at Toriel in shock and offense, spits at her feet, and takes his father's hand, head high as they both leave like kings. Toriel is not too happy about that interaction. Actually, Wine having a child and educating them is concerning to begin with.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Uh oh. Coffee stares as the Queen starts to praise and coos over the child, asking who their parents are. Coffee is paralyzed with fear, wondering if he should call his brother for help before she notices him. When the kid says he's their dad, Toriel immediately gets cold and says that it's a shame such nice kid has such horrible parents. Coffee is offended and sad, but then his kid says she's not nice, kicks her in the knee, and runs to him and, ok, maybe he feels a little proud. Anyway, he's not tempting fate and teleports out of here.

so technically, the first time they ever cross paths is in season 4 when Henry is born. obviously, it makes sense for j!reader to be there especially since she went to Georgetown. they don't officially meet until season 6 when reader takes JJ's spot on the team (but as a profiler) so in this specific AU, Seaver doesn't exist.

reader is 100% already smitten from the moment she meets him, but there's always this omnipresent fear of ruining the team dynamic or whatever reason reader can come up with. so in season 6 she actually gets a boyfriend, but her and Spencer remain really close friends throughout. he's also going through his whole migraine thing at the time. and then we hit the Lauren arc. i cannot disclose a lot about this because it may or may not be getting it's own fic, but they lean on each other heavy during that time.

in season 7 we obviously start with Spencer being an absolute dweeb to JJ, putting reader in the middle of it. again, i cannot disclose exactly what happens here, because it will potentially be in it's own fic. within season 7 reader breaks up with her bf and Spencer comforts her because they ended on bad terms, but Spencer is so heinously down bad for this girl that he doesn't even care that he's comforting her over another guy. there's a lot of like build up to this and they're kind of stuck in this "will they? wont they?" limbo and they're scared of ruining their friendship. when the bomb goes off in the season 7 finale, reader's in the building and Spencer freaks. they start dating shortly after JJ's wedding (which is why the line “She met Will and got pregnant and got married and you were so in love with her that you took the off-brand version just to have something.” from the ffofa 1 is so important).

that more or less brings us to season 8. home run takes place following "god complex" where they're dating and so stupid in love. their relationship is a secret at first, until lock and key happens and they come clean to everyone. i also feel it goes without saying that Maeve doesn't exist in this AU. they move in together during season 8 and they just coexist for the majority of 8, 9, and 10 because the seasons that come at traumatizing. there's also the lost daughter in season 9 and for the season 9 finale reader has a full fledged breakdown when Spencer is shot in the neck <333 but central nervous system takes place in season 10. around the end of season 10 they're talking about maybe getting married but i squash their dreams come season 11.

in season 11 there's the dirty dozen arc and Diana's Alzheimers diagnosis which puts a hold on their future plans. they're long distance while Spencer is with his mom in Las Vegas and they adopt a "one step at a time" mindset.

season 12!!! a big one for sure. reader does not agree with Spencer bringing his mom home to stay with them but she respects his decision even though it brings some issues to their relationship. she's mad at him for lying when he goes to Mexico but is obviously worried about his well-being. she helps him decide how he wants to plea. they write each other while he's in prison but she doesn't visit. they have a very wholesome reunion, she goes with him and JJ to confront Cat, and Spencer loses his mind when the team is in that car accident at the end of the season.

Spencer does not think he's going to be reinstated in season 13 but she hypes him up and when she's in town and he's on sabbatical she goes to his lectures to support him. she gets fired by Linda Barnes and does something similar to what Tara does because her background is in psych. my girl jareau!reader fully crashes out when Spencer and Penelope are kidnapped at the end of season 13 - another trauma that limits their ability to move forward with their relationship because they want to be in the right headspace <3

they do a lot of minding their own business in season 14, which makes sense because there's a lot going on with the rest of the team. that all leads up to the season 14 finale which, of course, is the beginning of for the fear of falling apart and takes us through season 15. they get married following the series finale.

post-series, neither of them fully go back to the BAU. Spencer consults and teaches and reader consults and goes back to working in psych. they have the cutest most wonderful family ever and i love them.

Welcome to another round of W2 Tells You What You Should See, where W2 (me) tries to sell you (you) on something you should be watching. Today's choice: 괴물/Beyond Evil.

Beyond Evil is a 2021 Korean drama about two cops that solve a small-town murder that one of them might have committed. Also there's more than one murder to be solved. Also more than one of those murders happened twenty years ago. Also, the cop might have gotten away with at least one of those too.

It got sold to me on the strength of the main pairing, which is absolutely captivating and worth the price of admission. But the entire cast is amazing, the story is great, and it's all just so satisfying. I love everyone in this weird small Korean town. I love having emotions and various Korean foods with them.

I got five reasons why you should watch it! Read 'em!

1. Do You Want To See An Old Man Cry?

In fact, do you want to see every man cry? Do you want to see every man in the cast either cry or pretend to cry or be on the verge of tears at least once? Do you want to see the main characters, who are both men, cry multiple times, often while otherwise wet as well?

Well, buddy, Beyond Evil has got you covered.

2. Absolute Nightmare/Absolute Nightmare

I do not consider it a spoiler to tell you that Han Juwon (the younger one, on the right) is a very mentally unstable superboy. You already know everyone thinks Lee Dongsik (the older one, on the left) is psycho -- it's nearly the first thing you learn about him. But when you're introduced to Han Juwon, you're given the impression that maybe he's just cold, self-possessed, and competent.

No. He is an absolute freak. This is a freak4freak relationship. They are both completely unhinged. They have both been traumatized to nigh-unimaginable degrees, and they have each decided to make it the other's problem. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for both of them, they both get off on that real hard, and they get real mad sometimes about how hard they're getting off on it. It's delicious.

And yet what makes it great is how they're different flavors of freak. They've got the age difference (40 and 27). They've got the height difference (even though the actors are only like 1cm apart, the whole thing is somehow shot like there's a bigger gap). They've got the class difference (small town weirdo and cop royalty). One's a messy bitch, and one's a prissy prince. One has a whole network of people who affectionately endure him, and one has exactly 0.73 friends. One wants to take care of everyone else but not himself, and one has never looked out for anyone else a day in his life. One's a smug little shit, and one's ... also a smug little shit, but differently.

You have perhaps been given the impression that Beyond Evil is like Hannibal, and that Juwon/Dongsik is like Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter. It's not, and yet it scratches a similar itch, if that makes sense.

Don't let me give you the impression that this is textually gay. They do not smooch or anything, so don't be waiting for that. But holy cow, is it homoromantic -- and the leads know it is, and they roll around in it, and everyone else in the production supports their doing it. They have the kind of chemistry stars are jealous of. (It helps that the younger actor is a muffin who has a such crush on the older one.)

And that's even before the part where they get married live on national television. Is that a joke? You'll have to watch to find out.

3. Lee Changjin (and the other antagonists)

I'll talk in a second about excellent and despicable all the bad guys are. But I need a special moment for this motherfucker right here.

Lee Changjin is a wretched, scummy piece of shit who damn near walks away with every scene he's in. He's not the worst like a little meow meow -- he is the actual worst, and it's so good. He's sleazy. He's pathetic. He's hot as fuck. You meet his ex-wife, and you're like, no, honey, sure it was a bad decision, but I totally get it.

Clearly he has a special place in my heart, but all the bad guys in this series are done so damn well. Their realism makes them even scarier. They're not incomprehensible ghouls out there being bad just to be bad. They're (mostly) making calculated decisions based on keeping their own heads above water, and to hell with everyone else.

I'm not going to spoil the identity of the murderer for you -- but it kind of doesn't matter, because you find out who it is less than halfway through the show (and because there are multiple people in this show who've killed someone). There's something bigger and more awful at work here, perpetrated by people that you knew were bad news from the moment you met them.

Beyond Evil is a cop show that is not copaganda, because one of the biggest villains in the series is misuse of police power. The show stresses accountability for police misconduct -- to the point where that accountability hurts characters we want to see get away with stuff because, come on, their bad behavior was totally justified! But it wasn't! The ends do not justify the means here. The world is not better when powerful people use their power to get out of the consequences of their shitty, selfish actions, even when those shitty, selfish actions were objectively kind of cool.

Fair warning, a lot of this show is about complicated relationships with abusive, absent, deceased, and otherwise difficult parents. Those parents are not always (or even mostly) the bad guys -- but the bad guys are all shitty parents. And yet, their adult children are tied to them in complicated ways that do said children no favors. Some of the most heartbreaking pieces of the show are about how these kids break free from those parents -- or, more tragically, don't.

4. Just plain good television

This is a series that can be handled by Your Average American Television Enjoyer Who Can Handle Subtitles. Its quality is on par with a lot of well-thought-of English-language shows I've seen. It's a tight, well-plotted story that's clear enough to be easy to follow, which is sometimes a high bar for a multi-tendriled murder mystery. The small-town setting even gives it a good source of levity to break up the otherwise tight tension.

It's only sixteen episodes long, but there are enough reveals to make a rewatch more than worth your while. The first half in particular improves exponentially on the second viewing, because once you have all the information, events and decisions that you initially read one way, you can see meant something else entirely.

I was initially going to say that if this were in English, all those fans of things like the Wire and True Detective would be super-horny for it -- except that's not true, is it? No, shows like that (which I have seen, for the record) glorify cops who can't be held down by your damn system, so they have to say screw the rules to get things done, because they're too cool and manly for things like paperwork! While Beyond Evil acknowledges that there are some places where the Korean law system is janky and might let a guilty person go free, but that doesn't mean cops get to do whatever they want about it.

My declaration of the show's quality isn't just me judging by my own tastes. This show won the Korean equivalent of Emmys for Best Drama, Best Screenplay, and a well-deserved Best Actor for Shin Hakyun, who plays that incredibly handsome horrible old man. This is a show that actual people who hand out actual awards for good television thought deserved awards.

So I guess if you always wanted to get into those shows a certain kind of dude can't stop talking about, but you had reservations about how authoritarian/libertarian/misogynistic/homophobic/boring they are, Beyond Evil is here for you!

5. Written and directed by women

This one I think is important as hell, because this is a Dead Girl Show (i.e., a show where men kill multiple women as a major part of the plot), and I know a lot of people are justifiably wary about those. However, there are no hints of sexual assault. The violence is gendered, but it's not sexualized. The murders and postmortem mutiliations are handled with the appropriate horror, but it's not torture porn. And the dead girls are treated like -- and grieved like -- actual humans who matter.

I think a whole lot of this can be chalked up to the fact that both the writer and the director of Beyond Evil are women.

In fact, not only are they both women, they're women who don't do this kind of story all the time. Shim Nayeon has directed five things, four of which are comedy/slice-of-life series. Kim Sujin has written a few dramas about mystery-solving teams, but even more comedy and adaptations of webtoons. I have no idea how the two of them got put on this drama together, but it was a perfect match.

This is not to say that men would be incapable of pulling off a story like this. It is, however, a commentary on violence, and how different it looks if you've grown up seeing yourself everywhere as its object rather than its subject. Sure, you could just flip the script and make a story about a lady punchkicker! A lot of people have, and I've enjoyed many of them! But you could also choose to tell a story about gendered violence in a way that isn't just needlessly retraumatizing the people who have to live their entire lives under its shadow. Moreover, you could tell a story about how even good-guy cops can wind up unintentionally buying into paradigms where some women are valuable and some are disposible.

...And if it winds up being teensy bit of a fantasy story about a world in which so many cops give a shit about this violence, well, that's what fiction is for, right?

In short, you love a team of powerful ladies power-drunk on an Arnold Palmer of Respect Women Juice and Sad Man Tears.

It's on Netflix, which may be easiest for most people! However, it's also on Viki, and I much prefer the subtitles over there, because a) they keep the flavor of the Korean terms of address, and b) they actually translate the damn episode titles (wtf Netflix?).

Some rambles on the ending and the codependent nature of Constantin and De Sardet's relationships. Spoilers for the whole game under the cut.

When I played Greedfall for the first time, I couldn’t stop thinking about Constantin’s corruption arc. It didn’t really make sense to me. Why would he want absolute power over the island? He has plenty of power and probably lives quite a luxurious life already. He also says he finds politics boring if De Sardet asks him, so the desire to rule over the whole island full of people seemed to me very out of character.

I do understand that he went mad and everything, but my brain deemed it a boring explanation and kept searching for something more logical.

So here: I think his actions make more sense if they're driven not by greed but by jealousy, less hunger for power and more hunger for absolute love (either platonic or romantic).

Let me explain.

His family is all kinds of messed up. He thinks his father doesn’t care about him, and although we don’t know if he’s actually abusive, I can’t think of any good reason why Constantin would lie about this. His mother, if DLC is to be believed, is responsible for the death of his brother Laurent — Constantin being an heir is clearly more important to her than his wellbeing & mental health after the literal murder of his brother. We don’t know much about Laurent and Constantin’s relationship (although he doesn’t ever mention him & he says nobody cared for him but De Sardet, so maybe it wasn’t good? Maybe Laurent was better suited for politics? That would explain Prince d’Orsay’s disappointment. That’s just my theory though).

Anyway, what I’m saying is that a child needs unconditional love, and judging by this family and Constantin’s line “You've always been the only one to care for me. Our friendship is the only thing that matters to me”, he has only ever received love from De Sardet, which sounds like quite a fertile ground for unhealthy overly attached relationship.

Then the game starts, and the thing is… Well, they are not each other’s everything anymore. De Sardet goes to various cities & talks to every person imaginable & makes new friends, maybe even falls in love. Constantin meanwhile is chained to a palace, especially after his sickness is revealed. De Sardet's world grows beyond him, and he can’t follow them there.

So what do you do when the only person who matters to you grows apart from you? What do you do when you are driven mad with pain and may die alone, and they have to leave you?

Naturally, you find a way to bind them to you for all eternity, and in doing so alienate them from everyone but you. Constantin's smart enough to realize that if De Sardet's friends and allies fought against him, they would turn away if De Sardet joined him. But even if they wouldn't, they're mortal. Their death is inevitable. The only one who can keep De Sardet company for eternity is Constantin. Everyone but him will eventually leave.

That’s why “For you, for us”, that’s why “together, forever”. Not power over the island or some people, but power to keep the only person who loves him unconditionally close to him.

(Again, I acknowledge that this is extremely, extremely unhealthy. That’s exactly what makes their relationship so interesting.)

Anyway, as I said, it feels very in character for him to basically give up on humanity in favor of De Sardet. I can't look at him in the beginning or in the middle and say, “This character would do anything for power”. But I can look at him at any point of the game, any cutscene, and say, “This character would do anything for his loved one”.

As a preface, my native language is English, I speak a passable amount of Spanish, and I'm minoring in German at my university but I'm not nearly proficient, so I'm not exactly the expert in being fluently multilingual, but I'll try my best with this one!

As with most things, different yanderes have different feelings regarding this ability of yours. By and large, they find it wonderful - you're just so smart, so capable and wonderful and hearing the way the syllables and phrases fall from your lips gets them shivering, their heart racing in their chest because god, you sound heavenly. Even if the language is harsher sounding, or isn't considered the most alluring - it's seductive to them, sensual, sexy.

But, of course, you're only supposed to use the other language(s) at certain times. On their terms. When they want to just admire you and not understand what you're saying. When you're just supposed to look pretty, to be gorgeous and wonderful and perfect.

But the rest of the time, speak what they understand, yeah?

Because really, the worst nightmare of most yanderes is to be unable to understand what you're saying - they crave your attention and interaction with you so deeply and desperately that they can't stand not having a clue of what you're saying. Every thought you have feels precious to them, like some sort of cherished, rare commodity that they absolutely can't waste.

But of course, each yandere is different, so let's discuss!

Some are genuinely ambivalent. The lucid yanderes really fall into two main categories; apathetic, and paranoid. The more apathetic, laid-back yanderes think it's good that you're speaking in a language that makes you more comfortable. They want you to feel comfortable and happy around them, after all, and if this is the way to make that happen, so be it. This is a very small price to pay to make you like them more - they can't understand what you're saying, sure, but it's good for you to be able to vent, to be able to speak all your feelings - even if they wish they could hear every single word. Besides, you look nice when you're speaking - they like to watch your lips, the different sounds making them pucker and smack and look soft and warm and delicious. A few yanderes who react in this way include Franklin Bordeau, Pakunoda, Uvogin, Hajime Iwaizumi, Gyomei Himejima, and Shouta Aizawa.

Some of them are paranoid that you're saying things about them, calling them horrible names and expressing your hatred for them. Mostly, this stems from the yandere's own lucidity and shame for how they feel for you. It's wrong to be so obsessed with you, and even further wrong to have kidnapped you and forced you to stay with them for the rest of your life - of course you're angry, and it's healthy to vent your feelings. Except, there's this sense of diminished control when you're ranting and raving in another language, because even though you sound pretty, what are you saying? You aren't using their name, sure, but you sound mad, and they're the only possible cause. Are you calling them a monster? Telling them they're hideous and disgusting and some sick freak? You're well within your rights to do so, sure, but they want to at least know what kind of insults you're throwing their way. Overthinking and anxiety get the best of them, and they start forbidding you from speaking another language - on the grounds of it being unfair or some other horrible, childish excuse. Mostly, they just don't like the idea of you harboring hateful feelings for them without even knowing about it. It's scary, and even if it sounds pretty and makes them gush over you, it's not preferable. A few yanderes that come to mind for this category are Feitan Portor, Obanai Iguro, Tobio Kageyama, Kenji Futakuchi, and Tomura Shigaraki.

Some are utterly fascinated. Watching you speak another language can captivate them for hours, and they'll be bugging you to explain everything you're saying, perched at the edge of their seat because they want to understand this piece of you. They'll want you to teach them a little bit - just a few phrases, to start, but you'll find that they've gone and done some research of their own, quickly getting a feel for the language because it's your language and they want to impress you - and will begin actively trying to use it in their everyday interactions with you. The phrases they prioritize are I love you, you are beautiful, you are mine, and come to bed with me. (And of course, depending on the language, that last one can have a whole wealth of different connotations.) It makes them feel connected to you, like there's some special thing binding you two together - particularly if it's a language that's less commonly spoken. It's like some secret you two share, and for the more possessive yanderes, it's just another claim of ownership over you - they can be involved in every part of your life, slowly seeping their presence into every little thing you do - even something as natural and personal and raw. A few yanderes who take this approach are Chrollo Lucilfer, Kurapika Kurta, Koushi Sugawara, Kyojuro Rengoku, Tengen Uzui, Hizashi Yamada, and Taishiro Toyomitsu.

By and large, most yanderes have positive feelings towards your ability to speak another language - it just makes you more special, and convinces them that you're even more worthy of their attention and attraction.

Besides, when you say their name with the accent it would be spoken in your language?

Well, it's your fault when they're throwing you onto the bed and kissing you like they'll die without you.

(Also I am sending you hugs and kisses, thanks for supporting my blog from Vietnam!! As for Nobunaga, I have mixed feelings about where to place him on this listing - I think he'd like the idea, initially, because you just look so damn cute when you're speaking your language, especially when you're cursing or frustrated. But the moment that you say something he thinks might be about him and might be even a bit negative, suddenly those endearing feelings are changing. Suddenly he's growing defensive, hostile, suspicious, demanding you tell him what you said and thus falling into the second category mentioned above. I think he's a hard yandere to categorize for most things because his delusional mindset makes him a bit unpredictable, but that would be my guess!)

I'm watching Moon Knight (again) to help me go to sleep and I've rewatched episode 1 so so many times on nights like tonight but I still absolutely adore all the little details.

Like, okay so when Steven wakes up in the Alps (I think that's where it is), Khonshu says "go to sleep, worm" and okay, first watch and without knowing the context of Jake existing, that makes sense. Khonshu doesn't like Steven which we learn more and more as the series goes on but then he says a few lines later "the idiot's in control" in that same scene in the Alps.

There is such a clear shift in attitude between 'go to sleep, worm' and 'The idiot's in control' and it's so obvious on a rewatch that Khonshu is talking to two different people with each line.

He's referring to Jake as 'worm' and he thinks that telling him to simply 'go back to sleep' would work because Jake is aware of the alters and their situation. Although from the brief glimpses we get of Jake, we know that he is an... interesting guy yet we can gather that he at least has some sort of alliance/respect/something going on with Khonshu. However, when he realises it's Steven, it's not hostility in the same way. It's more exasperated frustration. He's mad at Marc for letting Steven suddenly appear rather than being annoyed at Jake for making a random appearance. The way that the dialogue is written just exposes so much on a rewatch.

But going back to Jake/Khonshu even if they do have some respect, it's also pretty obvious that Khonshu does not want Jake around. I'd speculate that that's probably because if Marc loses time when he knows that he's not in London as Steven, that would create suspicion. Suspicion that Khonshu wouldn't want because that would put their avatar/God relationship at risk.

Though, I also suspect that Khonshu and Jake probably were working together but Marc never became aware because Jake worked at nights (maybe why Steven is so goddamn tired) or simply took over while Marc thought that Steven was in control.

I know that the Moon Knight portrayal is not the most accurate DiD portrayal but from my research, there's this whole idea of like different levels of awareness. Like the blackouts for Steven are because he initially has no awareness of the other alters. Then when Steven and Marc black-out, it's because neither of them are aware that there is a third alter aka Jake. Which means that Jake can do things for Khonshu while Marc believes that he is in London and neither Marc nor Steven would be aware.

I'm kind of just rambling about the show at this point but also, what I find really interesting every time I rewatch is the date thing. So, right, if Marc was the one that set-up the date why would he let Steven stand her up without saying anything to her? Marc isn't exactly the best guy when it comes to romance but he is incredibly protective over Steven because he wants to protect him from Khonshu. So, why in the world would he let the whole date rejection thing happen?

Because it wasn't Marc. It was Jake. Jake asked out Steven's colleague and that also makes sense why they went to a steak place. Jake doesn't give a f*ck about Steven's veganism while Marc absolutely would. Marc wants to protect Steven so he wouldn't make such a silly mistake.

But Jake would. Honestly, at this point, convinced that Jake just wanted to fuck with the Moonboys and Khonshu just played along.

I don't know.

I always find the dynamics of the Moonboys so interesting and I love how even when you rewatch it, there are new little discoveries that you can make. Like there was so much love, thought and attention put into this show?? It makes me SO SO happy.

This show honestly means the world to me and excuse the ramble/rant but I just love talking about my Moonboys and I never really get to speculate or discuss the show. I talk about it with my dad but being at uni means that I do not get to ramble at him as often. So, tumblr gets it instead.
