I absolutely adore how Heart portrays himself throughout the album.

Despite Minds 3 song tangent about how incapable and batshit insane Heart is, Heart is incredibly well put together and ‘calm’ during his half of the album.

Compared to Minds harsh words and loud background music he portrays himself in a very emotional, sympathetic light. Sure he spirals, like at the end of Good Day and in the middle of THA, but for the most part he’s coherent and reasonable. He’s a master at getting the audience onto his side because his tone is so much more ‘peaceful’ than Minds strong no sugar coating attitude. THA isn’t acoustic, but it might as well be compared to Minds.

We don’t get to see the ‘bad’ Heart until Soul shows up, where he throws all of his past tactics out the window and immediately matches Minds energy. It’s so fascinating. Yes he keeps his more emotional approach, but gets more and more aggressive throughout TSE and The Bidding.

Mind goes on and on about Hearts violence, something he himself has admitted to, but we only get to really see it twice. Once in ROE where it’s referenced in past tense/from a 3rd party pov, and in The Bidding when he calls Mind a piece of shit.

Heart is trying his absolute hardest to sugarcoat his flaws in front of the audience. And if Mind is to be believed, Heart has a LOT of untapped aggressive potential we have yet to see because he won’t allow it.

Idk I just think how he carries himself is very interesting. You can see him as manipulative, reactive, the victim, really anything you want because of how he sings and messes with your understanding of the situation.

Im just yapping but there is this fic on fimficton called Discord of Tomorrow that’s about s2 evil discord traveling forward in time right before he can be turned to stone to switch places with the version of himself (reformed discord) that exists when the elements of harmony are gone, so reformed discord gets stuck in the past and has had to snap away and hide the elements of harmony from the mane 6 so he can focus on trying to get back to the future without getting turned to stone, all while dealing with the moral dilemma of him realizing how easy it was to take the elements and how easy it would be to seriously just take Equestria over again vs being worried about what evil discord is currently doing to his friends in present time. It’s only like three chapters but I think the plot is so funny and the author didn’t even get to the part where evil discord is in the future and the mane 6 is trying to figure out wtf his problem is, thinking he has amnesia or something. I want to make a comic expanding on it so bad I’m like seriously obsessed with it I can’t stop thinking about it

this might sound weird but i really like the casual misogyny in house of niccolò. it reminds me of that one post about realistic historical fiction. of course this men from the 15th century would think less of women simply because they're women.

it's not super prevalent within the main cast so it's not exhausting to read, but it is there sometimes and it reminds you of its ugly existence.

it's different from lymond. of course there's misogyny there too, but it's less offhand comments/thoughts and more deep-rooted, visceral stuff like everything surrounding joleta, which makes you wonder if it's actual, period typical misogyny or if it was dunnett not being careful enough with the storyline she wrote.

and you even have lymond himself making rape jokes which are really fucked up when you look back on them after reading the series, and lymond really loves women! as people and not just sexually! but he still makes those jokes (so does nicholas once or twice i believe).

but anyway, there's a huge difference, i feel, between the sexism surrounding the stories of characters like oonagh and joleta, and julius thinking something along the lines of "ugh why is a woman the head of a business that's so annoying". that's the kind of trivial misogyny that feels very real. julius doesn't say it, he still works for a woman, but he has those thoughts a few times.

i also think it works well because then you have a main character like nicholas, who tells a woman who wants to rule a kingdom that "in a perfect world the fittest would rule, irrespective of sex". and it doesn't feel like the author is trying to make the main character in her histfic more likeable by giving him modern views. because we're told from the beginning that nicholas is very loving and accepting, so of course he wouldn't be sexist. just like he loves and respects umar, when most other characters only see him as the black servant.

idk, i think dunnett in this series finds a very good balance between realistic portrayal of bigotry and a more subtle sort of storytelling with her female characters, like kathi's frustration over the expectations of her marriage vs her dream of going on adventures. it's good

i haven't read many recent histfic novels (or any at all) so i can't talk about the way they do it, but in my opinion this is a very good way of writing bigotry which makes the time period still immersive, but the novel(s) modern enough that it doesn't feel punishing to read

Thinks about how Anti-Mabel was kicked out of her dimension for being 'so evil'. Thinks about how desperate she was to take over the life of the original Mabel. Thinks about how there's a Dipper out there who was created as a means of replacing the original and just thinks Mabel is the coolest ever, and would probably adore and support any version of his sister, even the most evil version of her.

Thinks about how they're both. Like. Thirteen-year-old kids. Sure, one's apparently the most evil Mabel in existence and the other's just hated for his cool guy swag, but they're kids. Do you think either of them thinks about their twin in passing, and realizes how much they miss them and will probably never see them again? Or if they do, they won't be the specific version of themselves that the twin actually cares about?

fr i hate the pity system and i hate the fact that the pity doesn't get carried onto the next banner because grinding can be such a pain in the ass in this game....like i started collecting s chips (and used som schips sometimes but not much) for the 2nd anniversary the moment i saw the 2nd aniv cards and I still was able to pull only one card when I was expecting to get at least 2💀💀

but honestly the only reason I'm still playing this game is for the events ...and sometimes for the cards too.....
