HUO YANJUN ( qian kun fc ) - i want a real brat for him. someone that would defy him, both of them would fight and constatly tease each other under everyone eyes. i was thinking maybe they grew up together and their families want to marry them off, but they were disgusted of each other for various reasons until a “hate with benefits” relationship started. preferably females. ( he has a thing for fierce, sassy but still smart and maybe a bit eveil women )

HUO XUKUN ( dong sicheng/winwin fc ) - give him a long lost love. someone he met years ago, maybe at a charity gala or at university, they had some kind of relationship but it didn’t last long. one day they met again at a party all the feelings were lingering in the air. preferably females. ( send your smart, elegant, independent girls )

HUO TENGYANG ( lucas fc ) - i don’t have anything specific for him in mind, but if you’re interested in him we can try to brainstorm something together. preferably females.

HUO SHUIJIAO ( huang renjun fc ) - shuijiao is a hopeless romantic dying to live something he read in a book, so i want the opposite. preferably a older muse that he knows for a long while and that’s just misleading him and mostly playing with how devoted shuijiao is to them. up to you if your muse has real feelings or not. preferably males.

SUN JIAN ( cai xukun fc ) - i want him to fall for his son’s nanny, it’s basically it. keep in mind that jian is saddist and predatory, so be sure to bring older muses to this. it’ll be a bit angsty as well considering his rendemption arch, so be aware. preferably females.

SUN SHUANG ( lin yanjun fc ) - shuang has always been in love with your muse, but he couldn’t do anything about it since she was already in a relationship with jian. one day your muse shows up crying saying they got pregnant with jian’s baby, and shuang knowing jian would do everything to get rid of it decided to say it’s his baby to protect your muse and the baby. give him a love story, it’s what he deserves. females only.

You sighed as you swung on the old playscape. The rusty chains squeaking as you went back and forth. A light breeze blew some strands of your hair, getting some piece of your hair in your lip gloss. You stopped swinging and pulled the pieces away. You looked around as the sun was high in the baby blue sky. It was an awfully peaceful day and you decided to spend the time with your childhood best friend. You liked him a lot, not loved. It’s impossible to love someone, dedicating yourself to one person and only that person. Love seemed like too much work to you. You snapped out of your thoughts as your tall, skinny best friend made his way over. He dyed his hair recently to a bright red, you didn’t know until you saw him. “Hellooo,” he said in a singsongy voice and he giggled as he sat down on the swing next to you. It’s been this way for as long as you could remember. Telling him your secrets and him telling you his, going to the elementary school that was in between your houses and swinging while telling jokes, making each other laugh. He smiled at you, “Can we go for food?” You giggled at him as he asked. “Cheng, you just got here,” he chuckled and nodded. “I’m aware, but I’m hungryyy,” you giggled at him. You swear by your life that Chengcheng eats about seven meals a day. His appetite is always hard to fulfill, you fondly remember when your mom made him a meal and he ate the chicken, beef, rice, soup and noodles with in twenty minutes. Chengcheng whined, the sound taking you out of your thoughts. You couldn’t help but laugh at him as he looked at you. With his cheeky little grin. “Fineeee, let's go eat,” he grinned and jumped up and almost pulled you off the swing because of how happy he was.

You thought about when you first met him and smiled to yourself, it’s been close to ten years and he’s been by your side through it all, luckily there was little drama only occasionally with what girl he liked but you didn’t have to complain about who you liked because you didn’t. You’ve never crushed on anyone and you plan to keep it that way. There was only a couple weeks where the two of you didn’t talk because something crazy happened. Chengcheng confesses his feelings to you and told you how much he liked you and you felt awful when you had to tell him about your serious fear. Love was beyond terrifying to you, love with your friends and family wasn’t as scary but it still was a lot. You did think about it a lot, falling in love, getting married and seeing yourself with a nice life, but the love part was still scary. You were fine though with the fantasy because you knew it wouldn’t be real and you can continue your life, happy and single. In this moment though part of you wanted to try something with Chengcheng and try to love but you couldn’t picture it actually working out. “Y/n~” Chengcheng waved his hand in your face as you snapped out of it. “Huh?” He giggled and grabbed your hand. “We’re going so I can eatttttt,” you smiled at him softly then looked at him. “Kiss me,” he blinked. “What?” You looked him in the eyes. “I know you heard me, Cheng, please,” he blushed softly. “But you rejected me, you told me your fear of love and that you can’t get your self to love, why should I kiss you?” You looked at him. “Please Cheng,” he shook his head. “I��m not going to let myself get hurt again, I’m sorry but I don’t want to be hurt by you again, you’re my best friend, and that’s how it’s going to stay, I don’t want to kiss you because it will remind me of why I confessed to you in the first place,” he took a deep breath. “And if all you want is for me to kiss you and that will be on your mind all day, I’ll go out by myself, I’m stopping myself from getting hurt,” he walked away slowly and you stood there, watching him, tears forming as he walked away. A tang in your chest formed and it stung, making you want to cry even more. This is why you didn’t want to fall in love, you didn’t want to feel this heartache. You didn’t want to be hurt by anyone, love ends in heartbreak almost always.

When you walked into your room you curled up and started to cry. This is how Chengcheng felt when you rejected him. You hated this feeling and it started to make you hate yourself for making Chengcheng feel this way. He hasn’t dated anyone since you rejected him and he’s tried to act normal, as if nothing was wrong for the past five months but just now you’ve caught on. The look on his face when you asked him to kiss you. He looked shocked, but willing to do it until he thought about what happened previously. You picked up your phone shakily and texted Chengcheng. “Please don’t stop talking to me,” You looked at the message and saw Chengcheng read it but didn’t type anything back. You held your head, if you didn’t find yourself to fall into the fear of love you might not have made Chengcheng sad and feel rejection. The pain in your chest when he walked away was so hard to try to bear and Chengcheng has dealt with that for the past five months. “Please Cheng,” you texted him again and saw he was typing and you couldn’t help but smile to yourself. “I’m not talking to you right now, I’m busy eating,” you rubbed your eyes. “But I’m sorry, I hate this feeling now, I never wanted you to feel this way and the feeling I got in my chest when you walked away made me feel awful and I realized that’s the worst thing you can do to a human, please forgive me. I can try and get over my fear with you if you still want to be with me. I don’t want to make you feel that way ever again, you’re my best friend and if you want you can be my boyfriend,” You sniffed and wiped your face as he responded. “Don’t talk to me right now, I’m busy being mad and I don’t want to accept your apology, because I need to think about it, maybe in a couple days I’ll forgive you,”

1. What takes up too much of your time? I tend to get wrapped up into random things that end up pulling my time away, like looking for something I can’t remember the name for. Probably tumblr or watching kdramas in general though.

2. What makes your day better? It depends on the day, really. A stress free school day, or a school day where I get good results make me happy.

3. What’s the best thing that happened you today? Well, I finished what I was making and then everything got messed up and deleted so that was Not Good, but other than that...I saw SHAZAM! and it was a fun watch :).

4. What fictional place would you like to go? Hmmm, this is a tricky one. Camp Half Blood, maybe? 

5. Are you good at giving advice? I don’t really think I am.

6. Do you have any mental illness? Not that I know of, no.

7. Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis? I haven’t, and I don’t think I particularly want to.

8. What musician inspired you the most? There have been a lot of musicians that have really stuck with me, honestly. NF is one of them, but from Kpop I’d have to say Han Jisung, definitely, as well as Fan Chengcheng, Namjoon, JR, Hyunsuk...a lot of the people I love and bias are people who have really made me think about things, and inspired me.

9. Have you ever fallen in love? No, not yet at least.

10. What’s your dream date? I would like something like going to see the cherry blossoms, taking a walk at night after dinner or something like that.

11. What do others notice about you? I wouldn’t say I’m a very noticeable person. People notice that I’m quiet..mostly, I guess.

12. What is the annoying habit you have? @theserendipityofjimin has informed me that my annoying habit is when I get lost in thought and subconsciously tilt my head and walk faster, meaning that I’m not paying attention to the other person lol.

14. How many ex’s do you have? You can’t have an ex if you’ve never dated.

20. Do you relate to it? Eh, sometimes. I don’t really believe in horoscopes and stuff, but it’s fun to read sometimes. Everyone says cancers are very emotional, but I’m really not.

21. What is happiness to you? Quiet, music, flower petals, laughing late at night, the world snowing outside your windows, aesthetic scenes.

22. Are you going through anything right now? Not at the moment. Life in general has had a lot of ups and downs this year, and it’s like it’s out of my peripheral vision, waiting to come back...but right now I’m good, happy.

23. What’s the worst decision you’ve ever made? I don’t consider any decisions I’ve made very bad.

25. What’s your opinion on abortion? I think you should keep the baby if you knew there would be consequences-like if you have unprotected sex, you knew there was a chance of pregnancy. But for cases like assault and rape, I think the woman should abort if they want to.

35. What job/career do most people say would suit you? A writer, which is what I want to be. Not a lot of people tell me what job would suit me though.

37. If you could live in any country in the world where would it be? I haven’t been to any other country, but I would probably stay in a nice part of the U.S. because I have my rights and all.

Though he comes across as quiet at first, as he grows close to you, he turns out to be very affectionate. 

Zhu Zhengting

Zhengting is a 27-year-old lawyer who asks you to play his fiancee in order to fulfill one of his dying grandmother’s last wishes, to meet her eldest grandson future bride. He is the mature, big-brother type of guy.

Zhangjing is a 29-year-old who works as part of a comedy show Fukumimi. You end up playing Yuta’s TV but since it is supposed to be reality TV, both of you have to pretend to be a couple off camera too. As one would expect from a comedian, he is a lighthearted and fun-loving man.  

Wang Ziyi

Ziyi is a 27-year-old childhood friend who had babysat you when you two were little. He is the CEO of Wang.com, an IT company and had been asked to help you find a job. He also owns a sports bar called Long Island as a hobby. 

Fan Chengcheng

Chengcheng is a 23-year-old heir of a traditional famous for creating the Fan style of flower arranging. Chengcheng has been involved with flower arrangement since he was a young boy. He is well-mannered and versed in many upper-class customs such as traditional tea ceremony preparation and the proper way to wear Changshan. Despite both of his parents caring for him, the relationship with his father is strained. He asks you to pretend to be his fiance in order to get an arranged marriage called off; the girl he is engaged to is in love with someone else and he doesn’t want to come between them. 

Huang Minghao

Minghao is a 21-year-old esthetician who is your childhood friend. He asks you to pretend to be his fiancee in order to avoid going back to his hometown and not take over his family’s wine brewery. 

Cai Xukun

Xukun is a 25-year-old diplomat who has been living abroad in America for 14 years. He tricks you into posing as his wife after pretending to offer you a job as his assistant. 

I was playing an otome game from voltage called my forged wedding and I decided to do the exact same plot with nine percent characters so I hope you enjoy it. And yes I did put this 5 years their age, but don’t worry there won’t be any smuts for any of them because we don’t write it.

Summary:

“You gave me what I wanted the most. A family.”

You fiddled with the ring on your finger, a smile resting on your face. You had dated Zhangjing for three years and have been married for nearly two, almost five years together. You remembered how he teared up when he pulled back your veil. It felt all to surreal that you had married the man of your dreams.

Zhangjing had wanted a family so badly, even planning out everything with you. Each pregnancy test came up as positive. Zhangjing was excited, screaming in happiness and immediately going to call his mom and dad to tell them the wonderful news. You watched with a huge smile as he talked fast and occasionally stuttering over his words. You had only seen him this happy when you both got married.

That was five months ago, one month before Zhangjing left for Idol Producer. He had mentioned you multiple times on the show, gushing about you to anyone who would listen. Now you were on set, waiting to not only surprise Zhangjing but also the other top 20 trainees.

The top 20 trainees sat in a practice room after being told by staff that it was important. The tension in the air was thick, all of the boys nervously looking at each other and whispering. “I’ve never seen the staff the nervous.” Bu Fan mentioned, the others nodding their head in agreement. There was a sudden knock at the door, making everyone freeze. The door opened and a woman’s voice was heard.

“Zhangjing? Baby?”

You stepped into the room, your hands on your stomach. You recognized all the faces in the room, multiple gasps and whispers being heard. Yet your eyes were only drawn to your husband. Zhangjing had tears running down his face, Chaoze rubbing his back in a comforting manner while Yanjun pushed him towards you.

Zhangjing pulled you towards him, hugging you tightly, not wanting to let go. You rubbed his back, comforting him as he cried into your shoulder. “I—I missed you-you so m-much.” His body shook with his sobs and hiccups. You pulled away and wiped away his tears. “I missed you too Jing. The little one is quite active, go ahead and feel.” You places his hands on your stomach, closely watching his face. The feeling of the baby kicking his hand made him gasp, looking at you with wide eyes and a large smile. “Oh my god...” Zhangjing’s voice trailed off before he kissed you, ignoring the sound of the other trainees whistling.

He introduced you to the trainees, his chest swelling with pride. Each trainee greeted you warmly and treated you like family. ChengCheng didn’t waste any time before asking if they can touch your belly, making the others agree loudly. You laughed as they began to crowd around you and Zhangjing. “I only trust Hao and Nongnong.” He shooed away the others and dragged Zhenghao towards you, gently placing the younger boy’s hands on your stomach. Zhenghao’s eyes widened and he pulled his hands away. “Thank you Y/N.” You smiled at him and nodded as a way of saying your welcome.

Linong laughed happily when the baby kicked his hand, his entire face lighting up. Slowly but surely the trainees felt the baby move. Bu Fan looked scared as he stared at his hands. Xukun, Ziyi, Zhengting, and Jefferey all congratulated you both. Qin Fen whined about how he wanted a child of his own. The reactions were priceless and you enjoyed that Zhangjing was surrounded by amazing people. Justin was the last one, he was nervous and his hands were shaking. He felt the baby move and looked up at you and Zhangjing from where he was crouched. “That’s so cool! Thank you!”

The entire time Zhangjing never left your side, even helping you use the bathroom because it was difficult with your stomach. He took care of you and would randomly kiss you making you both giggle and some of the boys fake gag. You told funny stories about Zhangjing, exposing all of his dumbest moments.

Once the trainees left it was just you and your husband. “I promise you, I’m going to make the top nine. I’ll come back and not leave your side, I’ll help you with everything. I love you so much.” Zhangjing pulled you into a kiss, pouring all of his love into it, showing how much he missed you and the baby. It was at that moment the two of you knew you were made for each other.

Zhangjing kept his promise and debuted but never left your side.

Justin hummed in adoration, he stared at you from across of the room. Quanzhe could feel his stare penetrating flowers all over him.

You may not noticed, too engrosed styling Zhengting’s hair that is not so coorperative today.

“Ge, she’s so pretty”, he sighed one more time. Chengcheng stared at the younger, his eyes judging him.

Justin Huang, or Huang MingHao is officially in love with you. Believe it or not, his interest got the best of him the moment one of the senior stylist brought you in, introducing you to everyone as the new girl that’s joining the team.

So officially, Justin had been interested in you for 3 months. At first it was small glances, curious glances.

He would study you a little, taking your features. You’re stil considered young to be considered a professional stylist. But your work speaks otherwise.

You have a passion for fashion and art, and what better way on combining it? That’s right, a stylist.

You always love the feeling of making people feel beautiful, and you always love painting them. You love making transformation, big or small.

And Justin admired you for that. Despite having a big talent, you always shy away and stay humble. Saying your work still needs improvement.

He kept staring at you as you sprayed some hair spray on Zhengting’s hair. Mumbling to yourself how annoying his hair is, not wanting to stay in place.

Chencheng stared at the younger and sighed. “If you like her that much, why don’t you ask her out?”

And boy, Chengcheng had never seen such red face on anyone in his life before.

Justin Huang was blusing.

Quanzhe just shakes his head and continued reading his book. “Stop it, ge! That’s like you’re asking me to marry your sister!”, Justin replied, hissing at Chengcheng.

Which earns a smack from Chengcheng.

Justin yelped too loud making head turns, making Zhengting’s turn, which made you turn to stare at him.

When he caught your stare, he swore he could explode into millions of stardusts. Why is your eyes so mesmerizing and so beautiful, its killing him.

His daze didn’t last long before Zhengting’s inner Mom came out of him, barking at Chengcheng and Justin. Surprising all of you.

“Be nice!”, Zhengting whipped his head to you and smiled. “Am i done?”, you laughed. Justin swore he thinks he is hearing angels singing.

“Not yet, Ting. Your hair won’t stay in place”, you said proceeding to take a comb and hairspray. “Maybe it’s hungry!”, Zhengting said out of sense.

You laughed harder. “Ting, that doesn’t make any sense.”, making him pout. “But i am hungry”, he sulked. You smiled softly, being around the same age with them got you easier to talk and joke around with them.

“How bout, you go eat and let someone take your place?”, you didn’t have to wait long. Because the moment Zhengting stood up, you saw Justin being thrown by Chengcheng to your station.

You jumped a little, while Justin is still in his daze registering how he teleported. “You came in fast, Minghao”, you smiled at the younger one.

He snaps his gaze to you and laugh awkwardly. You didn’t waste any more time and started your work.

He became all soft noticing how you always call him using his real name instead of his stage name. He once asked why, and you plainly said-

“It’s a nice name, why should you hide it?”

Aside of his favorite time on stage, this was his favorite moment. He always managed to get himself all polished with you, only you. No one else.

“You’re getting really popular these days”, you tried starting a converstation with him. He almost jumped when you spoke.

This catched you off guard. You stared at him wide eyed. Justin was a mess, he’s screaming internallyvat how dumb can he get. Figuring out how to fix the situation.

“Hey, Y/N”, you saw Zhengting calling. He held up a cup of coffee. You smiled in gratefulness, finally being able to get a dose of caffeine.

“Thank you, Zhengting”, you said as you walked to his side. Justin was still thinking how to make the conversation less awkward, not noticing you slipping away.

You were about to take the coffee from Zhengting, before the tall guy tripped. Stumbling and grip loosen on the cup

It happened too fast.

You were about to catch the cup, but it was already too late anyways. The cap is open, liquid spilling out.

A gasp came out of your lips, everyone in the room soon panicked.

Justin, Huang Justin. The contestant of Idol Producer who managed to steal all hearts from young to older woman to vote for him. That talented kid who can dance and rap was now done for.

Justin didn’t know what happened.

But

Justin felt like being slapped by liquid, warm liquid. He broke his trance. Justin stared at himself. Horror masking his face.

Then he screams

If there is a top 3 screaming contest in Yuehua, you would gladly nominate Justin. Because right now his scream is between a state of a dying dolphin and a choked crow.

It was a mess, a big mess

Taking responsibility, you grab his hand and drags him to the changing room. Justin was too busy freaking out to notice he is being held by you.

Zhengting whipped his head staring down at the culprit, he glared at Chengcheng. Chengcheng just took his outstretched leg back and stare at his mother. Acting confusion.

“Wopsie?”, Chengcheng fake shrugs, earning a loud smack from Zhengting.

“Not the face, Ge!!! NOT THE FACE!!”

You grabbed a towel and quickly drys Justin, you didn’t mind your work going to waste. It doesn’t matter right now

“Are you hurt?”, you checks every side of his face for any burn. Justin noticing the situation, blushed.

You noticing his red face, grew more worried. “Did you burn yourself?! Oh god, we need to go to get you checked and-“

“No!”, Justin yelled making you cringed. He clears his throat awkwardly. “It’s okay, I’m okay”, he said still trying to recover himself from his blushing state

“Are you sure?”, still unsure. Justin took a deep breath. “Yes, I am sure”, Justin choked.

“I am far than okay, especially after you already helped me dry myself. I am completely okay, the coffee wasn’t even that hot! Hell, its not even as hot as you-“, Justin stared at himself in horror

You wide eyed stared at him back, shocked. “I am so screwed”, Justin cursed himself kneeling, flustered

“Minghao?”, Justin stared at you. “Want to talk about what’s in your mind?”

Justin stared at you, uncertain written in his eyes. “I won’t run, Hao. I promise”, you reassured

“I-“, he choked out before he stops. He sighs, clearing his throat.

“I like you, a lot. And I know it’s been only like 3 months that you came, but I am sincere. I like you a lot, and I realized how dumb I can get until I was a flustered mess. Gosh, you probably won’t date such a dork, I’ll just-“

“Minghao”, you snaps him out of his rambles. You laughed a little. “Relax, you were rapping and it’s not even recorded yet”, you tried to joke.

Justin blushed more, feeling embarrassed. You cleared your throat, gaining his attention again.

“You know, this is such a worst timing for you to confess”, you started.

Justin swore he heard his heart breaks a little. Is this it? Rejection right in spot? Can he run away and never come back? Can he-

“Yea, you’re right”, he said dejected. You smiled.

“No, you dork. I meant, we need to get yourself polished. You’re a mess right now, what would your fans do if you go on stage like this?”, you gestures his state

Justin processing the situation, registering what you meant. He smiled.

“You mean, you’re not rejecting me?!”

“Why would I?”, you opened the door. “Come one, Minghao. After the show, let’s get some coffee and talk about it”, you smiled

Justin all giddy and mushed could only nod. You should know how happy he is. This is the best day of his life. He got his girl.

[AT THE START]

When you entered Yuehua, you had no idea what to expect. I mean, it was just so sudden. One day, you’re on the streets busking, the next you receive an email saying that Yuehua wants to cast you and you have to go for an audition. You had no idea what to expect, but your talent exceeds anyone’s expectations, including yourself.

“Hi! We are Yuehua boy trainees.” A whole line of boys (who are all at least a head taller than you besides Bi Wenjun of course, who is two heads taller than you) bow as their leader, who you come to know as Zhengting, greets you.

“Er, yes, nice to meet you too.” You smile politely back, a little apprehensive and self conscious. You didn’t put on any makeup because you didn’t think it was necessary. But now that you’re facing seven madly handsome boys, you wish you weren’t so lazy and had at least put on some concealer.

Although you’re the well known “ice cold queen”, the boys’ lively spirits and warm heartedness got you melted and you soon became great friends with all of them. Except for one person of course. Fan Chengcheng.

You just didn’t like him. From the very start, you didn’t like his cold ass bitch face, number 1.

Number 2, you soon found out that he was Fan Bingbing’s brother. The Fan Bingbing. Nation’s hailed queen. You felt even more cautious around him.

Number 3, you think its a complete waste of resources that he decided to come out here and train to become a singer. Like, he is rich, he has money, he has resources. Why doesn’t he use that to go to good schools, or go overseas to study, or maybe even start some business and earn even more money? Maybe you’re jealous, but so what? It’s true, isn’t it, that it’s such a waste that he, who has the resources, who has the opportunities to go to places like Harvard and Cambridge, threw all those possible educations away. And for what? To become a singer? That might not even be famous? You shake your head at that thought. Ridiculous.

So you didn’t like Fan Chengcheng.

Neither did Chengcheng like you. He hated how cold you were at first; and he hated how flirtatious you were it’s not your fault you’re a scorpio. It was as though you would purposely spend time with them and Chengcheng doesn’t fail to see how you would always use your puppy eyes and fluttering lashes to persuade the boys into doing things your way, and they almost, always gave way to you, despite Chengcheng’s constant protests.

It’s almost as if you are taking them away from him. And Chengcheng hated it.

Just the other day, he had asked Justin if he wanted to go out and watch a movie. Justin didn’t even hesitate; he turned it down at once, and said “Y/n’s going to play games with me tonight. MARIO CART! Sorry bro, maybe next time.” and then he had walked away, slinging an arm around your shoulder. Chengcheng didn’t miss the smirk you had on your face, and he boiled inside.

“Why do you guys like her so much?????? Come on, she is a whole, full package of b-i-t-c-h. And hello? Does she not have other friends? Why does she always have to come to our practice room to hang out with yall? And guys,” Chengcheng almost pleads. “Stop giving in to her puppy eyes and flirty acts! I mean, I get it, it looks cute bu-”

“What?!” The six other boys stare back at Chengcheng.

“What?” he says back indignantly.

“Did you just call y/n cute?”

“No I did not!” The rising heat of his cheeks however, weren’t very convincing.

“I meant, that you guys find it cute and always give in to her! YOU NEED TO LOOK PAST THAT BITCH’S TACTICS!”

“A. WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE FAN CHENGCHENG!” Zhengting reprimands.

“B, why do you guys hate each other so much? It’s not like she has done anything to you.”

Chengcheng mentally slaps Zhengting. But of course Zhengting would say that. He thinks you’re an absolute angel; he doesn’t see the glares and smirks you send Chengcheng’s way, or the winks and teasing grins you give him when the boys give in to you and he’s groaning because he has no choice but to follow.

[SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN]

Winter comes around and it is as bitter as ever. Almost as bitter as your relationship with Chengcheng. You still hate each other to the guts; but now you rarely confront him or interact with him as trainings become more intense and you just don’t have the time to deal with his idiotic ass. Which also means, you don’t have the time to go and hang out with the Yuehua boys. So when the management announces to all the trainees that they are going to have a retreat for all them, you squeal in delight because it definitely means more! time! with! them!

The journey to one of the most secluded nature reserves in Beijing is a long one and there is a coffee break in between. Stretching your arms over your head and get off the bus, you catch a glimpse of the rowdy boys and immediately wave your other friends goodbye as you dash up to them.

“Ouch! What….” You freeze, completely mortified. You thought the person you had jumped on was Justin; who knew that both him and Chengcheng had wore matching outfits and you completely mistook the other as Justin.

“Sorry….” You scratch the back of your head and you can feel heat rising up your cheeks, despite the cutting winds.

Chengcheng glares at you and crosses his arms, while the rest of Yuehua tries very hard to suppress their giggles (only, Justin is laughing uncontrollably and Quanzhe is giggling like a little fluffball he is.)

“You did that on purpose didn’t you?”

“No I didn’t! It’s not my fault you and Justin wear the exact same thing. Why the hell are you two wearing the same shirt?” You retort back.

“Because it is bloody cute, stupid.” He flicks your forehead and you rub the hurt spot as you glare at him. “Why, jealous?” He smirks at you, a glint in his eyes.

“In your dreams.” You punch his arm before grabbing Justin and dragging him towards the stop point cafe. Justin is cackling like an evil witch and teasing you non-stop. God, you wouldn’t hear the end of this.

“Ge! Did you see that? She only knows how to use her fists. If only she was this talented in her singi-”

“Will you pleaseee stop complaining! I have heard enough of the whining from both of you. Solve your own problems!” Zhengting cuts him off and rubs his head with two fingers. He didn’t sign up for this.

Chengcheng signs and glares at Zeren who is nudging him with his elbow. “What?” Chengcheng hisses. “Nothing! Only, that’s the most you two have said to each other.”

The frown on Chengcheng’s face only deepens as he realises the same thing.

“That’s weird….”

“What’s weird?” Quanzhe pipes out, staring curiously at Chengcheng.

“Nothing!”

But it is weird. He never realised it until now, but it is almost as if he mis-

Chengcheng shakes his head and clears his thought. No way he missed you. No. Bloody. Way.

The rest of Yuehua only smiles and suppresses their grins. They knew this would happen.

“Alright, so….that leaves us with…” The supervisor squints his eyes at the list. “Ah yes, the two problematic kids. Y/n! Chengcheng! You’ll room together.”

“WHAT?!” You both shout at the same time. Chengcheng’s mouth is agape and he is pulling at the supervisor’s sleeve, pleading for a change. “I’ll be very good, I promise. I’ll buy you all the hotpots in the world.” “Yes, yes, you do that for me. Y/n, don’t you dare try to pull that trick on me. The puppy eyes aren’t going to work. And what’s the problem? It’s not like anything would happen. You guys hate each other. Right?”

“THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT!” Once again, you both shout it at the same time, glaring at each other. “Stop copying me.” “Am not!” “If you both won’t SHUT UP.” The supervisor screams at the two of you. And you both pause, and stare at the jiejie. Chengcheng pouts and turns away, clearly unhappy, and runs to Zhengting to whine some more.

It’s cute, but you will never admit it. Not with your arms crossed and brows furrowed as you complain to your other trainee friends, who only tease you for it.

“FAN CHENGCHENG”

“WHAT?!??!!??”

“WILL YOU BE A MAN, AND HELP ME WITH MY SUITCASE!”

“Firstly, I’m your age, I am only seventeen and therefore, still not a fully grown man-”

“What a liar.” You roll your eyes, hands on your hips. A finger points accusingly at him. “Weren’t you the one declaring how ‘manly’ and ‘grown up’ you are, just now, on the bus?”

“And I thought you were asleep.” “I was, until some idiot decided to scream about how supposedly mature they are.”

Zeren nudges Zhengting and the elder nods his head at him. “If they continue to bicker like this, they are going to get married.” Justin claps a hand on his back. “I hate to agree with you Zeren….but you’re right. They are going to get married at this rate.”

“WE CAN HEAR YOU IDIOTS.”

“IT’S NOT HAPPENING.”

“If only the two of them were so synchronised with their dances.”

“Yea…..” “YEA WHAT YEA LAH HURRY UP AND UNPACK AND MEET ME DOWNSTAIRS IN 5!“

Startled, they all quickly apologise to their manager and scurry off, leaving the two of you bickering at your room’s door way, because neither one of you knows how to open the door and are blaming each other for it.

“We are going on a mountain trail-”

As soon as the trainees heard this, everyone collectively groans.

“Well, what do you think your journey is going to be like, a walk in the park? It’s going to be more like this mountain trail, kiddos. While you walk, reflect and make new goals for yourself, so that you will continually improve.” The supervisor fiercely instructs and everyone begrudgingly heads out.

What were your goals? You pondered hard about it. All you wanted to do was dance and make some money out of it, to contribute a little to the family. But now you’re here, in one of China’s biggest entertainment companies. Guilt ripples through your entire being. Being here means having to be away from home, not being able to financially support your family, or even give a hand at the chores. Bile rises up your throat as you think of your little brother. He is annoying, sure, but you still miss his weird antics and funny faces. Now that you think about it, without you around and your parents always working, the burden of taking care of that kid and doing the house chores all lie on the frail shoulders of your grandmother.

On top of that, you didn’t know if you were enough. Were you talented enough? Were you continuously improving? Everyday, you got compliments for your dancing, sure. But you also get multiple criticisms for your singing and rap; and being an idol is first and foremost about voice, not how well you can dance. You don’t feel like you’re enough. You’ve watched the other trainees. They are born gifted. They don’t even have to try, and they can hit falsetto. Meanwhile, you spend countless hours just trying to get that one note right.

Sometimes, you wonder if this is the right route for you, if this is the quickest way to success, the fastest method that earns you the most amount of money in the shortest period of time. Probably not. But…. you just can’t bring yourself to quit. The last 10 months has been enthralling. Exhausting, yes, but fun and exciting. Every day, a new challenge presents itself and the feeling of satisfaction when you have overcome a hurdle, or a teacher says “You’re improving” gives you unspeakable happiness. Unknowingly, you’ve fallen deeper and deeper in love with singing, rapping and dancing.

So you’re torn. You know you aren’t good enough, yet you love it. You know your family is back home in need of your help, but you love doing this. Waking up at 6am, training till 4am or even later. Laughing, playing around, singing, rapping, improving.

But sometimes you think, is it worth it? That your happiness and your ambitions are done at the expense of your family members, who struggle to keep up with the numerous bills?

A single tear slides down your face at that thought and you bow your head, trying to hide your miseries from the bustling group. You’ve spent countless nights worrying about your future, worrying about your family. You’ve never shown this side of you to anyone, and you sure didn’t want to expose this ‘weak’ side of you to the entire of yuehua. It’s just….the tiring walk, the scenic view, the gentle but chilling wind, the falling red and yellow leaves…..all leave you with a sense of regret, guilt and….longing. Longing for what? Home? A better life? A quicker debut? More talent? Better skills? You don’t really know.

Unbeknownst to you, as you fell behind the group, face contorted with an unspoken pain, a certain someone had fallen back as well, watchful eyes searching your face, trying to unravel the multiple layers and facades, searching for the core.

Evening falls like a blanket on all the trainees and although they are tired, they still are enthusiastically helping out with the campfire. It’s a tradition; after the mountain trail, a campfire for all to speak about their innermost feelings. Of course, you can pass if you didn’t want to, but for the most part, everyone freely shares their thoughts. Yuehua’s unique in this way. It’s like a big family.

“.....Last year was difficult. I mean, in a country completely foreign, having to learn a foreign language in such a short time… was difficult. And i had to take care of didi… I felt responsible for a lot of things. And it was burdensome. But this year, I hope that i can keep improving and I can lead the team even better. I don’t want to disappoint again.” Zhengting starts it off and the Yuehua boys are already sniffing. Justin is close to tears as he remembers their Produce 101 attempt that failed. He feels sorry too, for making Zhengting worry about every single thing, and because he was young, he hadn’t know how to help.

It carries on clockwise, everyone having a say and the emotionally charged words dissolves everyone to tears.

“I…” Your eyes shift and they land themselves on the soon-to-be 17 year old boy.

He clears his throat. “I...was also insecure about myself. I felt the need to… grow up faster. I haven’t got a choice. My sister is famous and glamorous. From young, I always felt the need to do just as well, to be equally perfect. I needed to grow up faster because I wanted to show that I was just as competent as anyone else, and I wasn’t just riding on my sister’s popularity. I just thought, I needed to be good in something, but something different from my sister, because I didn’t want to be compared to her.”

Chengcheng swallows down the nervousness that is wrapping its hands around his throat.

“I know maybe some think I should then do something outside the entertainment industry. I mean, I could easily ask my parents for money and start my own business. But, I love dancing and rapping and singing. I chose to do this because I want to do it; because I love it. But….I don’t know if I’ve put in enough effort and done enough to be considered competent.”

The Yuehua boys immediately protest and are shouting out words of affirmation. He waves his head ans silences them, continuing on.

“But I realised if I love it, I should just do it. It doesn’t matter if my sister is in the same industry, doesn’t matter if other people think I should be doing something else, doesn’t matter if now, I’m still not good enough. I just have to work hard for my dream and achieve my dream. Because I’ve decided that from now onwards, how I want my dream to be, is up to me. 我的梦想季后由我主宰。”

Everyone applauses and many are wiping away stray tears, nodding as they agree with whata Chengcheng said.

But it is almost as if he can’t hear them, because his chocolate brown eyes, now almost looking black because of the dim lights, are locked with your own irises and you wonder, if he had known that you hated him because you thought he was wasting his resources and he was now giving you an answer; if he had known that you were feeling unworthy, untalented and not cut out for this, and he was telling you that it didn’t matter; if he had known that you were torn between serving your family and chasing after your own dreams, and he was persuading you to go after what you love and do what makes you happy.

You pass when it comes to your turn, and no one questions. Except for one person.

At the end, everyone goes back to your dorms. You stay out, watching the twinkling stars and the sparks of fire. It’s calming, it’s meditative, and it gives you time to rethink your choices.

“Why didn’t you share just now?” A mellow voices rings from across the fire.

“.......I didn’t know what to say.”

You see the shadow nod.

“How did you know what I was thinking?” You directly ask him.

He shrugged and mysteriously smirks. “I have my ways.” You roll your eyes and a smile creeps up your face. “Creep.”

“Hey now, that’s not very nice.” He accusingly points his marshmallow at you. You walk up to him and bite it off. He glares at you, but it soon softens and melts into a nervous glance as he realises how close you are to him. Even in the darkness of the night, you can see the flush on his face. Laughing, you take a seat next to him.

“Thank you though.” You whisper eventually, eyes lifting up in awkwardness.

“You owe me one.”

“No, I don’t.”

“Yes you do. Hey, i did you a favour, I should get some reward, right?”

You rolls your eyes and look back down, only to be startled at the proximity of the two of you. You can almost feel his breath on your cheeks. “Maybe if you give me a kiss-” Two fingers push his forehead away. “Don’t even think about it.”

“Actually…..if you buy me ramen, maybe I’ll reconsider?” You cheekily look at him.

“Deal.” He grins and pokes another marshmallow with his stick and hovers it over the fire.

The dancing flames illuminate his pale face. His eyes are clear and reflect that beautiful sparks, his rosy cheeks a pretty complement to his fair skin tone, and his pouty lips looking extremely inviting.

Has Chengcheng always looked so ethereal?

[AT THE END OF THE DAY]

“The lights of the hallway were flickering and then….BAM” Justin shouts and Quanzhe gives an ear piercing scream. You cover your ears and shudder. Why, why, why do you never learn your lesson and always let Justin tell you ghost stories as a bedtime story?

“He hears a voice from the dark hallway, and it sounds like a growl or howl. It said, ‘Where have all the children gone?’” Justin’s eyes grow bigger and his hands wave in front of his face. You stare at him and lean forward, because while you were scared, you were also intrigued.

“The end.” Justin says and he leans back, a neutral expression on. “See you tomorrow y/n! You too, Chengcheng!” He winks at the both of you and Chengcheng just rolls his eyes. Zhengting waves a goodbye to the both of you as he half carries a bawling Quanzhe to his room.

“Can you not...off the light?” You timidly ask Chengcheng as his fingers touch the light switch.

He turns around. “Oh no, our dear fearless and seemingly infallible queen is scared.”

You glare at him. “Don’t make me hit you.” He shrugs. “Not going to hurt, baby girl.” He says as he turns around and switches off almost all the lights, leaving the one near you bed on. Now you regret asking him to keep the light on, because he is sure to see your lightly flushed face. You hide under the covers and you squeeze your eyes close, trying hard to not overthink about the story Justin had told you.

You wake up in cold sweat. Damn Justin…. He is going to get it tomorrow. You shiver; whether it is from the cold or because of something else, you don’t know. Either way, your hair still stands up and the howling wind isn’t helping you. Heart pounding, hands clammy, you swallow nervously and look around the room. The light casts shadows at odd angles and it sends chills down your spine.

Looking over at the sleeping Chengcheng, you are dying to go in and sleep with him. Not that you want to! It’s because you will feel safer. Right? You try hard to convince yourself. Chengcheng sleeping is not soft, nope nope nope. You just want to feel safe and reassured. That’s right.

“Chengcheng?” You whisper out. You internally curse yourself at how your voice trembles.

“Hmmmmm?” He mumbles through the sheets.

“Can I-”

“Come here.” His voice is low and husky, but oddly reassuring amidst the ominous shadows and screaming winds.

Diving under the sheets, you are careful not to touch him. The proximity however, is enough to cause colour to paint your cheeks. Your eyes travel from his clear forehead, to his half moon eyes, to his perfect nose, to his pink lips. You hear a sigh depart from them, as you wonder whether they feel as soft as they look.

“I know I am handsome, but are you going to sleep, or are you going to just stare at my face?”

“I can feel you rolling your eyes y/n. Do you know, if you keep doing that-”

You didn’t know what motivated you or what pushed you forward, but your eyelashes flutter close as you press you lips against the skin near the soft lips. 

You feel a hint of their velvety texture, but not wanting to push too hard, you only press a quick kiss on the cheek before burying your head in his chest. He smells of citrus and lemongrass, a mixture of herbs and a slice of a chilled wind, refreshing and comforting. “Can’t I do both.”

You don’t even have to look, as you feel his cheeks lift up. A pair of lips press themselves on the top of your hair and light, slender fingers weave themselves in your hair and he combs through them, the continuous action lulling you to sleep.

“Of course you can.”

He thinks you’re asleep, but you hear a soft “I love you” at the curve of your ear. A smile finds its way onto your lips and you whisper back onto his neck. “I didn’t think I would say this,

“But I think I’m in love with you, Fan Chengcheng.”

You laugh as you feel the heat rising from his neck to his cheeks and he playfully hits your arm, before rubbing circles, soothing it. A kiss is pressed against your forehead, your cheek, and finally, when your lips meet, you wonder, why did you have to hate him?
