Where were our heroes?
Where were our heroes? by Anna May
Emma wakes up to a bear-mouse thing looking at her. Her eyes open wide, but before she can panic she realizes Norman and Ray are sleeping next to her. She remembers the promise she made with Him. “You changed fate time and time again. You have suffered greatly. All you must do now is live an interesting life.” At the time Emma had no clue what he meant by interesting, but she was going to find out. ~~~~~~~~~ In other words, Emma wakes up in MHA and goes to school with the other A-1 students while looking for her family and dealing with a god in her head. This takes place right after Eri was saved and after the cattle children went to the human world.

**Post Manga Spoilers, after chapter 181**
In which this is a direct continuation of “A Distance that Binds”. Was inspired after writing that prompt to continue it into a multi-fic chapter, so thank you for giving me the inspiration to do so! Enjoy. (On AO3, link provided above).
sincerely.
“And you don’t have to listen carefully, I’ll tell you a thousand times.” - ‘All You Need to Know’ ~ Gryffin, Slander, feat. Calle Lehmann
"Are you telling me this is a game?"
Norman smiled. "I'll make it whatever you want it to be."
He leaned forward towards Emma, their faces dangerously close to each other as his smile turned into a smirk.
"But just know: I never lose."
In which a game of tag involves the pursuit of an immeasurable amount of sentiment.
150.
Catch me if you can.
His words echoed in Emma’s mind and the first thing she heard the moment the chime of the grandfather clock woke her up. Even after the sixth chime, she still found herself laying on her back, eyes wide open towards the ceiling above her.
She was on kitchen duty and it was only a matter of time before Gilda woke up and chided her for not getting ready; but, this was the first time she felt the longing to do something different from the normal, weekend routine.
It’s been six months since she was found by them, and slowly, she began to find her place within the large family who claimed to know her so well. The adjustment was different, after living for so long in quiet solace with the older man who had found her; she wasn’t used to loud voices, energetic children at all hours of the day, and taking care of younger ones.
She wasn’t used to it, but something deep-seated within her made all of the responsibilities seem like second nature.
And she came to realize that she didn’t mind it one bit. It took her awhile to open up, but the routine of having to care for others and maintain the large house felt natural to her; balancing school was another topic, but it felt doable and manageable.
She never found it to be a bother, not one bit, because something within her made these situations feel comfortable.
And she found that on some days, she rode on that familiarity; every piece that felt natural, she latched on to. It felt like she was one step closer to this unknown familiarity.
There were some days, though, when the emotions felt too much, too overbearing. Sometimes, the familiar would slip through her fingers, and it suddenly felt like she was facing a white blank slate, threatening to wipe clean everything she felt was so close.
The thought of white turned into flashes of him; he embodied the neutral color everyday, his hair to match his presentation. And she realized, as she thought of him, that he was exactly that; an unknown familiarity that threatened to never uncover the reality of the past.
Because that’s just how Norman is, she realized; he’d rather have the individual find out the truth on their own rather than explaining it to them.
And it made her blood boil.
While she had taken a platonic liking towards the boy in the past months she had spent with him, and she found herself the most close to him (aside from Ray, who she realized she could tease all day and he would never push her away, despite his annoyance towards her), Emma found that Norman was the most difficult to talk to when it came to serious matters concerning her or himself. He had no problem telling her the order of the planets in the solar system, an in depth explanation of the valves of the heart, the living styles of owls, and his detailed schedule daily, but whenever it had to do with anything regarding his own emotions, she noticed an immediate wall built between him and her.
During the first few times she noticed it, it was very subtle; either that, or she wasn’t fully aware. It was a tug of war of emotions and she found that he was often winning (despite his physical weakness).
She realized it was time to get to the bottom of it.
The sound of a bed creaking across the room made her sit up in bed immediately, knowing all too well that Gilda was awake. As she swung her legs over her bed, she quickly grabbed her clothes from her night stand and changed.
“Is something wrong, Emma?”
Gilda’s voice suddenly breaking the silence caused Emma to jolt a bit, turning towards the younger girl. She shook her head furiously, in an attempt to give a solid answer to Gilda and to shake off the earlier morning’s thoughts.
“I-I’m fine!”
Gilda frowned, taking a closer look towards Emma. “You didn’t get up earlier today. Is something on your mind?”
Emma pieced together in her head a while ago that Gilda was someone close to her for a very long time; Gilda could read her in an instant before she could even figure out an answer.
“It’s okay, really! I just felt like...sleeping in a little more, is all. But I want to make breakfast for everyone too, and I’m up already, so let’s go!”
Gilda’s frown didn’t waver, but she shook her head nonetheless as she turned around.
“Okay, but...just let us know if you need anything or don’t feel well, okay?”
“Of course!”
Gilda led the way out of their double-occupancy room and quietly closed the door before they walked down the hall. Most of the older kids had double-occupancy rooms due to their increasing school work and responsibilities, but that didn’t mean they didn’t check on the younger kids every so often during the night. There were only a handful of single occupancy rooms, and most of them belonged to those with more intense responsibilities or school work. The younger kids ranging from early elementary to junior high still roomed together in larger rooms similar to their House’s layout, and the junior high kids had the same responsibilities akin to how the older kids of their previous House had.
Emma grimaced when a loud creak came from the wooden floor as she passed one of the larger rooms with the younger kids, hoping no one would wake up from the noise she caused. She let out a sigh of relief when she heard no one stirred.
Turning around to look at the door of the larger room once more, Emma couldn’t help but feel a twinge of longing every time she passed one of the rooms. Her emotions couldn’t discern the feeling of loneliness, and the longing for a sense of a larger community.
As she turned to face forward again, she saw Gilda staring at her, worry etched on her face.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” she whispered as they rounded into the kitchen area to prepare the food.
You’re so energetic. Even though you haven’t eaten breakfast yet.
Emma quickly whirled around to follow the sound of the voice behind her; when she was met with an empty dining hall, she shook her head, and became aware of her quickened breathing.
The sound of the voice felt haunting, and she almost felt as if it were-
“Okay, something is definitely not okay,” she heard Gilda speaking in a louder tone, Emma feeling the touch of Gilda’s hand on her shoulder. “You should go rest, I can call Anna or Don to cover for you this morning-”
“No!”
Emma’s sudden outburst took Gilda aback, and Emma immediately covered her mouth, speaking in a softer tone.
“I mean, no,” she restated, calmer. “I want to help you. I just...thought I heard something, is all.”
The feeling of familiarity came into her once again and she felt as if spending more time in the kitchen would help her remember something. She smiled up at Gilda, taking a step into the kitchen.
“In exchange, can you at least tell me if this is something I used to do?”
-------
“Treat her as Emma. What you disclose to her is of your own judgement.”
Gilda shook her head. “But don’t you think that would only confuse her even more? If we treat her like she was before if she can’t even remember?”
Norman smiled. “If we tell her how she was before and how to act...I’m afraid that would only confuse her even more.”
He closed his eyes for a moment before speaking softly.
“She put all her trust and faith in us to find her...now it’s our turn to do the same for her.”
-------
Emma flipped through the pages of her book restlessly, scanning the pages up and down as she read quickly. Unbeknownst to her, the library door opened and closed with ease, soft footsteps to follow.
When she didn’t look up from her book, Ray sat in front of her with his chin propped on his hand, eyebrow quirking as he observed the book before her.
“I understand your desire to learn more, but I don’t think a dictionary is going to cut it.”
Emma visibly jumped at his voice, frowning as a triumph smirk formed on Ray’s lips.
“Don’t you know how to knock?!”
Ray shrugged. “It’s the library, Emma. A public space. And a room hardly used on weekends, except by me.”
She rolled her eyes. “Like you’ve read a dictionary before, I’m sure.”
He nodded. “Twice, actually.”
“You’re joking.”
“There were no more new books to read, so why not.”
“You’re unbelievable.”
“A lot of people say so, thanks.”
Emma rolled her eyes. “Come back to taunt me after all the times I messed with you?”
Ray shrugged. “Please. I’ve had a lifetime of you to get used to; don’t flatter yourself.”
“Who’s flattering who, now?”
At her snippy remark, Ray smirked as he leaned forward and lightly flicked Emma on the forehead, to which she rubbed in feigned annoyance.
“A little birdy might have told me to check in on you.”
“Gilda told you she’s worried about me?”
Ray looked at her, unfazed. “Bingo.”
“I’m fine, seriously.”
“Are you worried about Norman?”
The sudden question caught Emma off guard, and her eyes slightly wavered at his question. When his expression didn’t change, Emma began to look left to right, intimidation filling into her.
While she found Ray to be easy to talk to, there were times when he would see right through her, and it was these times where she felt most vulnerable. At the sight of her discomfort, Ray shook his head.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you-”
“Who is he?”
Ray abruptly stopped speaking, his eyes squinting for a second before he focused his attention back to her.
“What do you mean by that?”
Emma frowned. “Well, that’s a valid question, considering my situation, right?”
The topic of her lost memory made Ray feel uneasy for a moment before he pursed his lips in a straight line, carefully contemplating on how to approach the topic.
“It is, but asking me won’t do you any good.”
Emma frowned even more. “Why not? He won’t tell me a thing, so I need to research this on my own!”
Ray took a quick glance at the dictionary page she had stopped on, eyes landing towards the word she had highlighted with her highlighter.
Bittersweet.
Ray visibly frowned at her apparent train of thought, before carefully choosing his words.
“Why do you think he’s so hard to read?”
Emma shook her head. “I don’t know? He just smiles...a lot. I mean, he also frowns when he’s thinking, or laughs  when something is funny, or becomes firm when he’s in meetings with Barbara and them, and-”
Ray raised his hand, pausing Emma’s long list of Norman’s tendencies, causing Emma to redirect her sentence.
“Okay, but...his smile says more, you know? Like, he looks at me a certain way, and it’s different than the way he smiles or acts towards anyone else. I can’t be going crazy, right? Don’t you see it too, Ray?”
“You’re being cruel to yourself.”
Norman laughed, his eyes closing as he did so. “And you’re too concerned for your own well-being, Ray.”
Ray gave a hard stare back towards the other boy. “Are you going to be okay?”
As Norman opened his eyes, his lips settled into a small smile, his eyes downcast as he did so.
“I have to be.”
From under the table, Ray clenched his fist in frustration, clearly tiring from the situation before him. And before he could catch himself-
“I see it too,” was all he could numbly say, the overbearing urge to say more forcibly cut by the biting of his own tongue. And for a moment, he regretted giving a hint, but all bouts of worry dissipated the moment Emma’s face lit up, a huge smile replacing her worried lines.
It was an expression he hoped that she would have much more in the future.
“I knew it!” she exclaimed, standing up from her chair. “Thank you!” She leaned forward and gave Ray’s hair a small tussle as he swatted her hand away, frowning in feigned annoyance.
“Now to...figure out the rest of this puzzle,” she stated in contemplation, hand on her chin as she thought aloud.
Ray sighed. He knew Norman was going to kill him for this.
“Norman likes playing games.”
He continued as she stared back at him. “You’ve seen how well he plays games, and how irritatingly good he is at them, right? That’s because he knows how to not show his emotions or strategy.”
“And right now, he’s playing one again, whether he knows it or not. So,” Ray leaned forward, smirking.
“Play his game. And win.”
Catch me if you can.
His words echoed again in Emma’s head.
The pieces began to line up.
And this time, she smirked with determination in her eyes.
With newfound resolve, she shut the dictionary before her as she smirked back at Ray. Something told her that sitting and studying wasn’t her style; she felt the need to act and it needed to be now.
When she said nothing in reply, Ray held out his fist towards her and in response, she bumped his fist back in gratitude. She held her head high.
“This game starts now.”
Day 150.
It’s been 150 days since living here, 150 days since Ray suggested I started keeping this journal as an account just in case I lose my memory again.
And while I haven’t lost any memory, I haven’t gained any either.
There’s a feeling I can’t place. Today, the feeling of longing of being someone else came back. Why did I hear a voice in the dining hall today?
It almost sounded like Norman’s.
I wanted to ask Gilda that. I wanted to ask Ray more about him. But for some reason, I feel like I shouldn’t.
The feelings I can’t place are just building up. They’re not forming any words, but it’s making me long for something. For someone.
But what, or who, I can’t figure it out.
Maybe Norman’s right. I have to figure this out on my own. It’s my own memory and consciousness, after all.
Because he knows a lot about me, and I barely know me.
Wait, that’s not fair. He already has the upper hand!
Is this a competition? It almost feels like one. No, it’s definitely one.
...fine, then. If it’s one, then bring it.
Because I know I can catch up, somehow.
If I survived memory loss, what’s a few emotion-finding tasks to that?
(...for some reason, I feel like I’m going to regret saying that last sentence, but whatever. It’s time to get moving).

another fluffy OT3 fic! (been a while since I write one :3) --- Rate: K+ Pairing: OT3/norrayemma Tag(s): Date Night, Fluff, Romance, Inspired by Honeyworks’ Song Note: the italic parts at the separations are me quoting the song’s lyrics :3 ---
You received a voice message (18:06)
“Hi, Emma. I’m sorry. I don’t think I can make it tonight. There are still quite a lot works that I need to get done here. I’m so sorry. Please tell Ray that I’m really sorry too.”
‘To repeat the message: press 1. To reply the message: press—’
Emma clenches her phone.
“…Stupid Norman.”
*
Does being an adult means to be patient? All the incomparable things are being put on a scale
But because we have ‘love,’ we can still be ourselves Yet we still get struck by the anxiety
* [Ne, Aitaiyo] ((Hey, I miss you))
*
Emma pouts silently as she gripped the mug in her hands which contains her already cold coffee. From the doorway, Ray—her other boyfriend who’s just gotten back from work and still clad in his formal suit—sighs and approaches her gently.
“Hey. C’mon, don’t keep pouting like that. It’ll make your face all wrinkly faster, you know?” her boyfriend tries to joke. “What’s gotten you so down, anyway? Aren’t you the one who’s most excited for tonight?”
“There’s no ‘tonight,’” Emma grumbles.
“Huh?”
“I said ‘there’s no tonight’! Norman can’t make it! He’s still at work. The plan’s cancelled!”
For a moment, Ray doesn’t say anything. Then, suddenly, Emma feels something landed on top of her head. Ray’s hand. A hand that ruffling her hair without a care in the world, as if she hadn’t just spent a full half-an-hour attempting to stylize it like one of those fancy hairstyles she often sees in magazines.
“Ugh! What are you doing, Raaay?! You just ruined my hair!”
Ray chuckles beside her. “Then just go style it again,” her boyfriend says easily.
“E-eh? Didn’t you hear what I just said? The plan’s canc—”
“Hurry,” Ray cuts her. “I think it’ll only take about forty minutes to drive to the office. The traffic is usually quite packed at this hour, though. So I probably should just use the train, it’ll be faster that way.”
“The…the office? Wait. You mean Norman’s office?!”
Ray doesn’t answer her. Instead, her boyfriend grabs two sets of coats and scarfs from the coat rack and starts dressing himself up. Before opening the door, her boyfriend turns back at her.
“Oh, by the way, can you head to the cinema ahead of us and buy the tickets? I think it’ll take too much time if we go together from here, so Norman and I will just meet you there.”
*
Baby Girl, your eyes, and nose, and lips Hey, I wanna touch you
*
The office is almost empty the moment Ray steps into the building. Most of the employee already went home, only a few still choose to stay behind. He presses the elevator button to a floor he remembers well, a part of the office that he and Emma frequently visited.
“What are you doing, staying up ‘till this late?” he says as a greeting. Not surprisingly, Norman is the only one left on that floor.
His boyfriend jumps in surprise and turns at him with an annoyed expression.
“Don’t startle me like that!” Norman complaints. “What are you doing here, anyway? Wait. What time even is it? Shouldn’t you be at the movie with Emma?!”
Ray raises his eyebrows. “So, you’re saying we really should celebrate our anniversary with only the two of us?”
Norman averts his eyes, starting to look a bit guilty at the sarcastic retort. “It’s not that… I mean, it’s just—”
“Well, whatever. If that’s what you want, so be it. Emma and I can still have a good time with only the two of us.”
Ray dumps the plastic bag that he’s been carrying on top of his boyfriend’s desk carelessly. Norman stares at him questioningly.
“What is this?”
“That? Oh, nothing. Just a few cookies that Emma baked this afternoon. Figured you might want some snacks while pulling an all-nighter again.”
He turns around and begins leaving. But before Ray could even take a step away, a hand reaches out, stopping him.
“W-wait!”
*
Baby Boy, your hands, and habits, and love Hey, I miss you
*
“W-wait!”
Norman doesn’t know what he was thinking. His hand just automatically reached out the moment Ray started leaving.
His boyfriend turns back around. “What?”
“U-um…”
Ray snorts. A beat later, Norman feels a hand landed on top of his head, ruffling his hair messily.
“Idiot.”
For a second, the thoughts about all the paperwork he wanted to re-read and revise for the nth time again entered his mind. For a second, he hesitates. But……
He shrugs, smiling up helplessly at his dark-haired lover. “…Thank you. Let’s go?”
*
The more we think about each other, the more it feels our distance grow
*
The moment Emma arrives at the cinema, her heart drops a bit, realizing her two boyfriends haven’t arrived there yet. Though, taking a deep breath and a firm step, she puts on her best smile before she walks up to the cashier.
“Three tickets for this movie, please.”
The ticketing employee looking at her confusedly. “You’re alone, Miss? This one will start in a few minutes. If you’re waiting for some people, you might want a different schedule, or—”
She shakes her head. “No, it’s fine. They’ll arrive soon.”
Still wearing her cheerful smile, she takes the tickets.
Best smile for best occasion. Also for the people she loves the most.
*
Baby Girl, your eyes, and nose, and lips Hey, I wanna touch you
*
It took them about five minutes walk from the office to the station. From there, it should be around twenty minutes before they arrive at the nearest station to the cinema.
The whole way, Ray practically dragged Norman on his feet. Snapping at the sleepy man every few minutes and receiving weird stares from the strangers on the street.
Ray groans for the nth time. He knows that his boyfriend must be very tired from pulling all those late working hours this whole week. ‘The overworking idiot probably even did it without really realizing,’ Ray grumbles inwardly.
But…still! It shouldn’t be this bad, right? Right?!
Ray can feel some white hair strands start tickling his cheek again as the head on his shoulder lolls slightly from the train’s movement. He bites his tongue. Luckily, what would’ve probably been an embarrassing yelp didn’t manage to escape his lips.
‘Stupid! Idiot! Stupid Norman! Why at a time like this?! Why in a public place like this?! Ugh, wake up! Wake up, idiot! This is so embarrassing!’
That’s what he silently complaining, but…
Awkwardly, with his probably now very flushed face, Ray moves slightly and adjusts his sitting position so that his boyfriend can lean on him more comfortably.
He steals a glance at Norman’s fancy watch.
“Still about fifteen minutes until the station…” he mumbles.
Ray sighs, averting his eyes and silently tangling his fingers to his lover.
‘Better put up with this, then.’
*
Baby Boy, your hands, and habits, and love Hey, I miss you
*
There’s patience. And there’s “how freaking long anymore do I need to wait for my two stupid boyfriends to arrive” patience. Besides…will they even able to make it here on time?!
Emma doesn’t care whether her probably annoying groaning would earn her another weird stares from the strangers around again. At this rate, she really will strangle them.
“Aaaaargh, stupid Ray! Stupid Norman!”
Just as she said that, her phone rings from a chat notification. She lits up as she reads the sender name.
Ray (21:09) “Emma, I can’t get this idiot out of the taxi. Help.”
Emma frowns confusedly. “…Um, what?”
*
Swinging back and forth, I recalled it Back when we first gazed at each other’s eyes *
“Are you kidding me?!” Ray groans.
He has tried everything: from tickling, to pinching, to slapping his boyfriend’s face and practically shouting beside his ear. Still, Norman wouldn’t budge!
He has somehow managed to drag his boyfriend to get out of their train and get onto a taxi. But the moment they stepped inside the car stupid Norman immediately slumped onto him again. And now they have arrived, he can’t get his boyfriend’s head off of his lap!
Ray grimaces and glances at the taxi driver apologetically. It’s probably their luck that the dark-skinned woman driver only chuckles and waves him off from the front seat.
“Ahh, young love~ How sweet~”
Feeling desperate, Ray finally resorts to texting their girlfriend.
 Emma (21:10) “Eh? What happened?”
“Aaargh, stupid Emma! Just come here already!” he grumbles.
On his lap, Norman’s head lolls again, somehow facing his stomach now.
 ‘This is so awkward…’
*
And I remember that moment, When I first touched you
*
Emma understands what happened the moment she finally sees her boyfriends—who are still adorably cuddling inside the taxi, she notes.
She chuckles. ‘How come Ray doesn’t realize it?’ she muses.
Emma shakes her head. “Norman~ C’mon, it’s wake up time, baby!”
Ray stares at her flatly. “I told you. He won’t budge even though I tried everything on him! How do you think he would wake up if you’re just calling him like th—”
Her boyfriend’s ranting got cut off by a sudden kiss to his cheek. The reaction is immediate: Ray flushes as bright as tomato and starts stammering.
“W-what– wh—”
Emma bursts out giggling. But even her giggles got cut off by another sudden unexpected peck to her cheek.
“This one’s for our best girl.” Norman grins at her before giving a small kiss on her nose.
“You– You were messing with me?!”
The still-red faced Ray starts pushing Norman unceremoniously out of the car. Her white haired boyfriend lands himself on his butt. He whines petulantly at her and Emma eventually can’t contain her laugh anymore—doesn’t mind that it makes her already re-stylized hair all messy again.
They’re basically making a ruckus at the parking lot now. And it takes Norman suddenly asking about what they’re actually supposed to be doing here for them to remember again that the movie they were planning to see together is about to start soon.
…Or rather, already started now.
“Why did you even buy this schedule?!” Ray complaints at her as they’re all running inside the cinema.
“W-well, the sooner the better right? Besides, it’s certainly better than having to wait another few hours for the next schedule, right? Right? Norman! Hey! Defend me!”
“Um, well…I was hoping I could go back home to change my suit first, though…”
“See?! That was an idiotic choice! Idiot!”
“Stop insulting me, stupid Ray! Are you actually my boyfriend or my bully?!”
Halfway through the cinema entrance, they all suddenly remember that they forgot to pay the taxi.
…Which sets another troublesome task, as they need to run back to the parking lot and run again to the cinema.
“Ah, young love~” the taxi driver woman shakes her head.
‘Yeah, it is,’ Emma silently agrees.
It really is.

[Just a heads up for any anime-only watchers for Yakusoku no Neverland/The Promised Neverland who happen upon this post despite the tags I’ve used: there will be mention of anime spoilers up to Episode 10 for the purpose of my argument here. So, if you want to avoid them, please stop reading this post from this point onward.]
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I am the type of person who likes to seethe about these issues quietly and not make rant posts about them unless I really need to. Unfortunately, now happens to be one of those times. This is an issue that most likely has happened in other fandoms in the past (regardless of how minor), but it’s the first time I have ever encountered it with such frequency and large numbers. So, for those who want to read what I have to say, you’d better buckle your seat-belts.
I’m fortunate to be one of those fans who chose to read the manga for The Promised Neverland out of pure interest, even though I originally planned to only focus on the anime. Sadly, I can’t say the same for others.
It hurts me to see anime-only fans posting about how they’ve had to resort to reading the manga, not because they want to out of pure interest, but because there are manga readers being jerks and purposely posting spoilers each time the anime reaches a specific plot twist. And no, I’m not referring to the manga readers looking to have discussions with other fellow manga readers through engaging posts and responses, and especially not anyone here on Tumblr. I’m talking about the manga readers who purposely go out of their way to bluntly post spoilers on each episode after it airs (with or without the ‘spoiler warning’), about the major plot points either in the current animated arc or later arcs that have yet to be animated on other social media platforms. Here’s an example of what I mean for your convenience: I encountered a manga reader on Youtube who had posted spoilers on a clip from Episode 3 (posted shortly after it had officially aired), which included the scene where Ray, Norman, and Emma discuss the possibility of there being a ‘spy’ amongst the children. Naturally, I clicked on the ‘read more’ option to take a closer look because I’d gotten through most of the manga by this point, so it wasn’t something I needed to hide from. The comment was worded something like this:
Spoiler Alert:
Ray’s the traitor.
Already, I can bet there are some of you out there who would argue this isn’t a big deal, and I can see why. They put the warning there and left enough space in the comment to hide it so anime-only people could choose if they wanted to spoil themselves or not. What’s the point in me making a fuss over something like this?
Well, let me turn that question back on you: what’s the point in them exposing a major plot point like that so bluntly? You can clearly see by how it’s worded and formatted that it’s meant to be clickbait. This isn’t a manga reader looking to talk to other people about the manga events out of harmless fun. This is someone purposely tempting anime-only fans into seeing these spoilers and ruining the experience for them. And how do I know this, you ask? That wasn’t the only spoiler comment this person made on that video. This manga reader had gone and taken up a lot of the comment section with other spoiler comments under the same formatting and similar wording, going on to bluntly expose more plot points that had yet to be aired at the time and those currently only mentioned in the manga. And honestly... it made me feel sick.
But, oho, this isn’t an isolated incident, I’m afraid. Because manga-readers just like this specific person have been crawling out of the woodwork in large numbers since the anime’s debut, both with and without the inclusion of the ‘spoiler warnings’ (more so without, which makes this whole issue worse). And they’ve been getting larger and more frequent as the episodes have gone on.
Another example: After Episode 10 aired on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and so on, a Facebook page set up for The Promised Neverland anime (not sure if it was an official or fan-made one) posted a script illustration to commemorate the recent episode. There were only thirty-one comments under it at the time of me looking, but after scrolling through them... guess what the majority of them were. Manga readers bluntly exposing a major plot twist from the recent chapters of the manga connected to the episode’s plot twist, with most not even putting spoiler warnings.
It makes me absolutely livid that there are so many jerks like this existing. I mean- why would you do things like this?! Why go out of your way to rob anime-only fans of the opportunity to experience the roller-coaster of plot revelations that you got to? How is that rewarding to you in any way? It’s like they think they’re so much better because they’ve read the manga and look down on those who only know the anime as if they’re scum on their shoe. And yeah, there are probably people like ‘Well, if they don’t want to be spoiled, then they should avoid the comment sections, or Tumblr, blah blah blah.’ WELL, WHY SHOULD THEY? Why should anime-only fans have to compromise and avoid looking through comment sections and tags for like-minded fans to discuss things with because of jerks who want to purposely expose plot points left, right, and centre?! It’s inevitable that spoilers will be abound because of the decent manga readers who are harmlessly engaging with the tag or other manga fans, but at least they aren’t purposely trying to ruin things for the anime-onlys.
I’m not sure what other people think of this, but I just find it really annoying and pointless when people do this s***. Maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole-hill. Even still, it comes across as jerk-like behaviour to me, and I felt like I needed to draw attention to it. No matter the fandom, fans of the original source material shouldn’t purposely ruin the experience for those who just want to stick to the current adaptation. It just feels wrong to me.

The translators actually have Tumblr! @edogawatranslations which where they translate 999 Alterna stuff.
I don’t know what their policies are regarding me sharing this interview, but I just wanted to give a signal boost their translations, so prepare for some posts about that!
“The protagonist, Emma, is played by Sumire Morohoshi, who has nearly 16 years of acting experience despite being 19 years old. Norman is played by Maaya Uchida, who has been cast as a male main character for the first time. Ray is played Mariya Ise, a veteran known for her role as Killua in Hunter x Hunter.
During the interview, the trio gushed about how badly they had wanted to be cast in the show, as well as how their determination made the audition process all the more nerve-wracking.
But after overcoming those obstacles, they landed their dream roles—and an incredible team of actresses was born. ”

The Promised Neverland: Sumire Morohoshi x Maaya Uchida x Mariya Ise Interview
FROM LIVEDOOR NEWS (JANUARY 22, 2019)
INTERVIEW BY REIKO CHIBA // PHOTOS BY TAKUMA SUDA // PRODUCED BY ENFANT
The Voices in the Recording Studio Fit the Animation Perfectly
What did you think about episode 1 after watching it?
Morohoshi: I was blown away by the movie-level animation quality. In the beginning—when Emma, Norman, and Ray are playing tag with the other kids—the background art was so beautiful, and the atmosphere created by the glistening leaves felt so real. It seemed like a nice, idyllic environment for children to grow up and pass the time in.
That said, there was a huge dichotomy between the peaceful first half and the devastating second half, which suddenly threw us into the deep end. I bet that first episode hooked a lot of viewers.
Ise: In the second half, Conny (played by Ari Ozawa)—a little girl who grew up with Emma and the others—is found dead with a horrified look on her face. It was a drastic shift in tone from the first half, which showed the children leading fun, happy lives as a loving family.
Their “Mom”—Isabella (played by Yūko Kaida)—was awfully kind, and gave off the impression that she raised each and every child with care. But by the second half, you’re wondering where that kind Mom went. This stark contrast between light and dark that defines The Promised Neverland is established in just 30 minutes.
How about you, Uchida-san?
Uchida: The voices I heard in the recording studio fit the animation perfectly. I thought I’d be the only one worried about recording… But everyone else in the room seemed pretty nervous, too. I’m relieved episode 1 turned out well.
It’s my first time playing a young male lead, so I was just as anxious to record as I was to audition. I kept asking the staff, “Is my acting okay?” Even if they replied, “It’s fine,” it didn’t make me any less nervous.
However, as soon as I watched episode 1, the fact that “The Promised Neverland is here” hit me, since the characters and their voices all looked and sounded exactly how I imagined they would. At that moment, I knew everyone would enjoy this series.
Your Desired Role was the Opposite One? Secrets of the Nerve-Wracking Auditions
I heard that you all read the manga to prepare for your auditions. What did you think of it?
Morohoshi: I had assumed that all Jump protagonists were boys, so I was surprised that the protagonist was a girl. The story, which centers around escaping from Grace Field House, and the world, which is inhabited by demons, also stood out to me.
But as I continued reading, I felt the thrill of waiting for the next plot twist, watched as friends teamed up against foes they couldn’t beat on their own, and realized this was a Jump series after all. I was so entranced by this combination of fresh ideas and classic tropes that I caught up in one sitting.
Ise: Yeah, once I started reading it on my phone, I couldn’t stop. I was like, “I need a physical copy!” So I went to the bookstore the next day and bought every volume.
Uchida: I was also reading it on my phone at first, and before I knew it [pretends to grip a phone with both hands], I was stuck in this position. This was late at night, but by the time I looked up, it was already bright outside. It was every bit as suspenseful and interesting as Sumire-chan described. The more I read, the more I wanted to play one of the characters.
Ise: These kids are thrust from a peaceful world into a pit of despair. But rather than give up hope, they defy the status quo and search for a way out. It’s quite a wake-up call for those of us living peacefully in today’s Japan.
Various children besides the main trio appear in this series, but even when faced with the same situation, they make different decisions. I didn’t exactly put myself in their shoes, but as I read the manga, I’d ask myself hypothetical questions like “Would I feel how Emma feels?” or “Would I think how Norman thinks?”
Did you all audition for multiple roles?
Morohoshi: No, just Emma.
Ise: I auditioned for Emma and Norman.
Uchida: I was asked to read for Emma, Norman, and Ray.
Morohoshi: Looking back, my studio audition included an important scene—the one in episode 1 when Emma lets out a tear-filled scream (after seeing Conny’s corpse, the demons, and Isabella at the gate). That was the first time our bright, optimistic, and headstrong Emma had ever felt true despair, so I thought long and hard about how to portray it.
Since I didn’t get any detailed feedback during my audition, I couldn’t stop wondering, “Did I do that right?” once it was over.
Uchida: I was anxious after mine as well. By the time I arrived at the studio for my audition, it was already packed with voice actors famous for playing young boys. Honestly, I was beginning to doubt myself…
It would’ve been my first time playing a boy for an entire cour, and in a dialogue-heavy series to boot. But I was still determined to get the role no matter what. Back then, Ray was my top choice.
Ise: Maaya-chan wanted to be Ray, and I wanted to be Norman.
Uchida: The role I got wasn’t the one I wanted… Funny how things work out, huh. Come to think of it, I auditioned for Norman right after auditioning for Ray. I guess after playing someone as aggressive as Ray, I was able to relax a bit when I played Norman.
Big thanks to my manager for letting me take on such a challenging audition even though I barely had any experience with male roles.
Ise: I had submitted tape auditions for both Emma and Norman, but I was only called in to do a studio audition for Norman. At that point, I was dying to succeed, so I tried not to come off as desperate during my audition.
I’ve recently been volunteering at a pediatric cancer center, which means I’ve had more opportunities to hang out with children who are obsessed with reading The Promised Neverland. Because some of these children are unable to leave the hospital, I thought I could inspire them—and give them courage and hope—by appearing in this series.
I see. Then, how did you feel when you were cast as Ray?
Ise: I’m pretty comfortable with playing him now. Although I admire Norman, I’m more similar to Ray. Thankfully, a lot of people have told me that I’m “perfect” as Ray, so I’m very happy to have been cast as him.
I used to play a character from another Jump series who resembles Ray—a boy with a dark past and a twisted personality—so I’ve taken it upon myself to differentiate the two.
How did those around you react to the news, Morohoshi-san?
Morohoshi: A bunch of different people contacted me when the cast was announced, which made me realize that this series was popular among all genders. It was right around the time I entered college, so I received messages like “That’s awesome!” This series has helped me make a lot of friends at school. [laughs]
Uchida-san, was there also a big reaction to you being cast as a boy?
Uchida: Yeah, even the people close to me were really surprised. Before I was allowed to share the news, I went to the bookstore with my mom. She’s always been an avid manga reader, but she picked up a volume of The Promised Neverland and said, “This one’s interesting.” I couldn’t tell her that I’d been cast yet, so I just responded, “What? Oh, um, have you been reading it…?” [laughs]
The cast wasn’t even announced when the first voiced promotional video came out. I don’t share every role I get with my mom, but I was dying to ask her, “Hey hey… Have you seen this video?” [laughs] I wanted to tell her, “Listen closely.”
No Lies in Her Words: Morohoshi’s Impressive Acting Prowess
Have you recorded any memorable scenes thus far?
Ise: This isn’t exactly a scene per se, but I was impressed by how Sumire-chan never lies when she speaks into the mic as Emma. As you know, we get our lines ahead of time, which means we subconsciously plan out how we’ll perform them in advance. But in Sumire-chan’s case, every word that comes out of her mouth sounds sincere, as if they represent her true feelings in that moment.
Emma is Grace Field House’s beacon of hope, the force that pushes everyone forward. She’s both the heroine and a hero, so naturally, that makes me want to follow Sumire-chan too!
Uchida: I agree. She’s such a reliable protagonist. Truly, I’d follow Sumire-chan anywhere!
Morohoshi: Well… I feel reassured having you two by my side.
Uchida & Ise: Awww!
Morohoshi-san, what do you keep in mind when you’re acting?
Morohoshi: Emma’s not the type to think too deeply before speaking, but her innocent words and unwavering spirit still influence the people around her. In my opinion, that positive aura is what empowers her to be a natural leader. Since her “Emma-ness” goes away if I overthink, I try to rely more on my intuition when I play her.
To be fair, my two co-stars are an even better fit for their characters.
What do you think of Ise-san’s character, Ray?
Morohoshi: For starters, I’m amazed by how she can maintain such a deep voice while playing him. The way his voice gets slightly higher, and sometimes cracks, when he’s agitated feels especially real.
As soon as I noticed the gap between his emotional immaturity and his mental maturity, I went, “That’s Ray alright.”
Ise: You’re too kind.
Uchida: I’ve liked the nihilistic Ray ever since I read the manga, and Mariya-chan’s version of Ray is just as cool. He has the power to lead others in a way that neither Emma nor Norman can.
I like it when he’s rude to Emma and Norman. For example, in episode 2, when he asks Norman, “Why? Aren’t you different?” and then grabs him by the collar so hard that he can’t escape. I thought Mariya-chan really nailed that part!
Ise: At first glance, Ray seems level-headed, but he’s actually quite transparent with his feelings. He gets angry, yells, and sulks. He’s surprisingly childish at times.
Ray’s on a “certain mission” involving Grace Field House, but he can’t accomplish it on his own… Considering his backstory, it’s no wonder he’s pessimistic and devoid of all hope for the outside world. Yet, Emma and Norman—who he met in the midst of his struggles—have become more and more important to him, so he’s determined to save at least the two of them. He’s an extremely considerate, courageous, and caring young man on the inside.
Uchida: He acts cute whenever Isabella’s around, though.
Ise: It’s weird to hear such a nihilistic guy refer to Isabella as “Mom,” huh.
Morohoshi: It’s so cute he when does that. Ise-san does vocal warm-ups before playing him, so I’ve been learning her vocal exercises.
What kind of vocal exercises?
Ise: (low-pitched) Hnn hnn hnn hnn, (high-pitched) hnn hnn hnn hnn, (low-pitched again) hnn hnn hnn hnn. That kind.
Morohoshi: Her range is amazing, isn’t it?
Ise: That’s the trick I use to slip into Ray’s voice. I lower my voice prior to standing before the mic. I also do some stretches in the studio before we start. Everybody else goes directly up to the mic—like the professionals they are—but I need to warm-up, tune my voice, and get into the groove one step at a time. I’m sure we each have our own method of getting ready.
Uchida: In my case, I guess I feed off the energy of others. Our mics are always stationed in the same spot, so whenever the three of us are standing side-by-side, I know everything’s going to be alright.
Norman’s Heart-Throbbing Line: “Let’s run away. Together, with everyone.”
What do you think of Uchida-san’s character, Norman?
Morohoshi: Just hearing Norman’s voice makes me feel safe.
Ise: Same!
Morohoshi: Although Emma is emotionally shaken until roughly episode 3, Norman stays composed and is there for her. It’s comforting to hear Maaya-san speak in a calm and collected tone. I tend to tremble as I say my lines, but she calms me right down. Like a tranquilizer.
Uchida: Yay, I’m glad to hear that.
Ise: Maaya-chan and I co-starred in Hunter x Hunter as Alluka and Killua, so I’m happy we got the chance to work together again. I was curious to see how she’d do as a boy… Turns out she’s perfect!
Uchida: Thank you very much!
Ise: The delicate way she approaches acting reminds me of Norman. Maaya-chan’s soothing voice—the clear, unmuddled voice of a prepubescent boy from the Vienna Boy’s Choir—is simply perfect for him.
I originally wanted to play Norman, but once I heard Maaya-chan’s Norman voice, I decided to aim for Ray instead.
Uchida: Norman’s a genius who always wears a smile and never raises his voice. He can instantly assess any situation and make snap decisions. I try not to make him sound too friendly when he’s giving explanations to the other children or the audience.
He’s so quick-witted that others have trouble following his train of thought. That’s why his demeanor is the same whether he’s having fun or being serious.
In addition, I was conscious of his masculinity. Norman and Ray—the oldest kids—are basically the only manly characters at Grace Field House. I thought it’d be nice to show off his flirty side, like when he admits his feelings for Emma.
Ise: Norman’s not embarrassed to say phrases that make girls blush.
Uchida: Exactly. You could already tell that he liked Emma in episode 1.
Ise: All three of them are 11 years old. Boys at that age tend to be shy, and either avoid their crushes or tease them on purpose, but Norman was thoughtful enough to sit next to Emma and ask her if she was okay. What a gentleman.
My favourite scene in episode 1 is when Emma runs into Norman at the wall during their game of tag, and he goes, [imitates Maaya’s voice] “You caught me.” I was like, “The way she said that was so smooth! Maaya-chan’s the best!” [laughs]
Uchida: Why, thank you! [laughs] Something important I try to keep in mind is Norman’s open-mindedness, his acceptance of everyone and everything. In fact, I get a little embarrassed when we’re recording an intense scene in the studio and I start to see Emma as Sumire-chan. [laughs]
Morohoshi: Fufu. [laughs]
Uchida: I might’ve said something presumptuous just now… What do you think? [laughs]
Morohoshi: I’m desperately trying not to fall in love. [laughs] The last thing this series needs is romance! After all, Emma doesn’t express any romantic feelings. Although, that scene at the end of episode 1—when Emma and Norman are talking in the bedroom—was a close call!
Ise: The scene in which Norman says, “It’s okay. Let’s run away, with everyone,” right? I know!
Morohoshi: After we recorded that part, everyone was like, “What a hunk!” [laughs]
Ise: He’s a sly dog, isn’t he?
Morohoshi: He sure is.
Their Ages, Personalities, and Interests are All Over the Place… So What “Promise” Did They Make?!
I heard that this is the first time all three of you have been interviewed at once. (Note: This interview was conducted toward the end of November 2018.)
Uchida: That’s right. I’ve never worked this closely with Sumire-chan before. We did play sisters on a show called GJ-bu, though.
Ise: It’s also my first time being a regular on a show with Sumire-chan.
Morohoshi-san, what do you view the other two as?
Morohoshi: [stares at Uchida and Ise] My gorgeous older sisters…
Uchida & Ise: [laughs out of embarrassment]
Morohoshi: Every time I watch Ise-san play Ray up close, and hear such a cool voice coming from such a beautiful face, I fall in love. [laughs]
Uchida: I totally get what you mean! [laughs]
Morohoshi: As for Maaya-san, like I mentioned earlier, her presence helps me relax so that I can record in peace.
Uchida: In terms of acting, Sumire-chan is often the one leading the pack. However, in contrast to Emma, she’s more like [imitates Morohoshi’s voice] “Okaaay, sounds good.” She’s rather carefree, in a cute and comfy way.
Ise: Sumire-chan exemplifies gap moe. She’s diligent at work, and relaxed in her daily life. I can tell that she’s generally down-to-earth and easygoing. If she only could act more dignified. Then, she’d be a real hotshot.
Despite being much younger, she has way more acting experience than I do. She’s learned so much from being involved in so many different productions.
Uchida: As for Mariya-chan, I admire how stunning she looks when she’s in front of the mic. There’s a lot I can learn from her, because her strong points are different from mine. I’ve been observing how she handles her roles. I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on both Sumire-chan and Mariya-chan until the final episode.
Morohoshi-san. As a teenager, do you want to take this opportunity to ask your big sisters anything?
Morohoshi: Hm, what should I ask…?
Uchida: Whatever you want. [laughs]
Morohoshi: I’ve always been one of the youngest in the studio, so I’ve never had the courage to invite people out to a meal or ask for their contact info… How would you feel if someone younger approached you about those things?
Ise: Wouldn’t you be delighted if a younger colleague did that?
Uchida: Yeah! Super delighted!
Morohoshi: I was hoping we could go eat together, but I don’t know if I should ask.
Uchida: No problem! Let’s go!
Ise: Now’s your chance!
Morohoshi: Awesome! Thank you guys so much.
Uchida: I’m kind of curious what our soft and cuddly Sumire-chan is like when she’s drunk.
Ise: When can you start drinking alcohol?
Morohoshi: I turn 20 next April. (TN: The drinking age in Japan is 20.)
Uchida: Alright, how about we go drinking once you’re 20?
Ise: Let’s do it, let’s do it!
Morohoshi: Hooraaay.
What sort of topics get you three excited?
Ise: I want to show Maaya-chan some beauty products.
Uchida: Sure, I’m a cosmetics maniac anyways.
Is that so?
Uchida: Yup, I bring my own cosmetics to events. I love doing my own makeup.
Morohoshi-san, what sort of stuff do you like?
Morohoshi: Well, I like eating. I’m a meat lover, so I’ll eat that whenever it’s available. I’m always searching for good barbecue spots. I don’t have any actual hobbies, though… What are you two interested in?
Ise: I like makeovers and massages.
Uchida: I like baseball, and going to the stadium in uniform to cheer for my team.
Ise: Wait, seriously?!
Uchida: I’m a fan of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, so I usually spend my days off over in Fukuoka.
Morohoshi: Woah, please tell me more!

Third drabble request!
Tag(s): NorRay (seriously, almost all the requests I received are norray, lol), Roller Skating, College AU, Romantic Fluff, Established Couple Warning(s): very slight NSFW at the end
---
“Are you sure you can do it yourself?”
Norman scowls at the semi-mocking concern. Though the moment he lets go of Ray’s hand, it only takes a few rolls before he lost balance again.
His body sways to the side. Ray’s immediately beside him again, catching his body and steadied it by circling an arm around his waist.
“Be careful,” Ray chides. “Well, you’re always kinda bad at this kind of things, though,” his boyfriend adds again, knowing too well that those words would irk him off.
Norman looks to the side, pretending to be suddenly interested at the rows of trees around them to attempt to hide his embarrassed blush. Ray is……kind of right, honestly. He’s bad at any kind of sports and athletic activities. And, well…roller skating is kind of a sport too, after all. It’s just to be expected.
He sighs.
“Don’t scowl like that,” his boyfriend teases, “Someday, you’ll find something you’re good at. It just takes time.”
Norman rolls his eyes. “I have plenty things that I am good at.”
“Sports related, I mean,” Ray adds, grinning at him.
He scoffs. “Sport’s not important. As long as you can keep your body healthy, that’s what matters.”
Ray snorts. “You’re just making up excuses.”
In his petulant annoyance, he pushes his boyfriend off. But he stupidly forgot to take two things into the count: One, they’re both on a skater roller, that makes even the slightest force could cause them to easily lose balance; and two, Ray’s arm is still around his waist, which promptly makes him lose balance too.
They both toppled to the ground. Luckily Ray has both enough sense and fast reflex to put his hand behind Norman’s head.
This is one of those moments when he’s feeling pretty grateful for having an athletic boyfriend. The fast reflex—and, ahem, the flexible body—is sure pretty useful at times. Otherwise he’d end up with a bloody head right now. Wait, doesn’t that sound like a good horror movie title? “Bloody Head”? …Oh, well, it seems like he had hit his head a bit too hard.
“Are you okay?” Ray asks, frowning at him in real concern, this time.
Ray is currently kneeling on top of him. His boyfriend’s body caging him, with Ray’s toned leg almost brushed up against his crotch. It’s both weirdly erotic and romantic at the same time.
“You know, I’m feeling like a shoujo manga right now,” he blurts out.
“…Huh?”
“Well, you know… ‘The protagonist was walking leisurely, and suddenly a pretty girl comes out of nowhere colliding with him.’ That kind of cliché. With the girl ended up falling on top of the boy and they somehow fall in love. Like, fall, literally.”
“You’re definitely hitting your head too hard,” Ray grumbles, before getting up and leaving just leaving him laying down there.
‘If Ray’s a manga character, he must be the tsundere type,’ Norman thinks fleetingly, as he’s getting up on his own, following suit his boyfriend.
They continue to skate down the path for a few minutes before he gives up. It’s kind of embarrassing, since Norman himself was the one who had came up with the idea. Rolls skating is somehow a trend these days among the couples in their campus area. Also how Emma keeps gushing about romantic it is might be one of the factors. But now that they’ve already tried it, Norman gives up. Any kind of outdoor physical activities is certainly not for him.
“Are you hungry yet?” he asks. “There’s that Japanese food place around the next corner.”
That Japanese food place is one of the most famous restaurants in the area. Partly because it’s the only Asian food restaurant near their campus. But mostly because Asian foods are usually cheaper than any junk foods, at least in this area.
“That place again? Well, sounds good for me. I think I’m craving a sushi,” his boyfriend comments.
It’s still quite early in the morning and the place is still empty. He orders some kind of ramen that he randomly picks up from the menu—even though can’t actually remember the name of. Ray orders some kind of fancy looking sushi that Norman’s sure was randomly chosen too.
It doesn’t take too long before their orders ready.
“Raaay…” He drags his boyfriend’s name petulantly and opens his mouth expectantly.
Ray ignores him instead and grumbles, “If you want some sushi, why the heck did you order ramen?”
He pouts sulkily. “You’re the worst.”
It only takes a few seconds before a pair of chopsticks with fresh looking sushi suddenly shoved in front his face. Norman grins inwardly. Ray is weak to him. And he’s not milking this information to manipulate his boyfriend multiple times—definitely not. Ahem.
Ray’s face flushes while feeding him with the chopsticks. It’s adorable. He knows well that his boyfriend is not a PDA kind of guy. It often takes great troublesome efforts to get Ray to do some PDA with him whenever they go out—yet the cute blush on his boyfriend is always worth it, really.
His boyfriend’s blushing face is all Norman thinks about on the way back to their apartment.
It’s 10:30 when they got back. Still quite early. They don’t really have any schedule until later this day—the perks of being in the same major and knowing each other schedules well—so they both can laze around a bit for a few hours.
Ray immediately calling dibs on shower first the second they stepped inside. And the moment he’s done with his own shower, his boyfriend already lazes around on their bed, reading some kind of classical fiction that Norman vaguely remembers he’d read last year.
He ditches the effort of drying his hair in favor of draping himself on top of his boyfriend—still wet and half naked and all.
Ray scrunches his nose. “You’re getting my clothes all wet!”
He pouts. “I thought you’d be commenting how hot I am. Isn’t that what usually happen in movies?”
“If it’s porn movies, yes.” Ray rolls his eyes.
“You’re no fun,” he complaints.
Ray smiles a bit. “Wanna do something ‘fun’? We have… I think around six hours until I need to meet some people for a group assignment later today.”
Norman looks up and grins. “What do you have in mind?”
“I dunno. You?”
“Hmm… How about… Me riding you?” he whispers and steals a kiss teasingly. “Or something more daring. Like… sex against the windows? How about me fucking you on our kitchen—”
“Definitely NOT!” Ray groans.
Norman rolls his eyes. “Fine, fine. You’re no fun.”
“Listen, I don’t need any weird images every time I use the kitchen. Thanks.”
He laughs this time. “Kitchen-junkie.”
“That’s not even a word.” Ray snorts.
Norman can feel a pair of hands suddenly trailing on his body, keep going down until it reaches certain parts.
“You’re already worked up,” Ray whispers.
“Thanks to you,” he retorts playfully.
He tugs on his boyfriend’s collar to collide their mouth into a kiss again. “Let’s take this off,” he mutters against Ray’s lips. His fingers already working on opening the shirt buttons before Ray can even say a word.
Ray chuckles. “Yeah, yeah. You do what you want this time.”
Norman hums lightly and steals another brief kiss. Kissing Ray is one of the things he likes the most, as he’s found out.

Fourth Drabble Request! Tag(s): NorRay, NSFW, Spanking, Safewod use, Fluff
(( Listen. I'm not trying to be the next 50 shades writer. Please stop sending me NSFW prompts because I keep getting inspired each time T.T )) ---
 SMACK
Ray gasps. His toes curling from the intense pleasure.
 SMACK
He bites his lower lip. Tears begin pooling in his eyes. The pleasure is just too good. So, so good.
 SMACK SMACK
He lets out a guttural moan this time. He pants his breath shakily. For a moment, he really couldn’t process anything. Only the delicious pleasure racking through his body. For a split-second moment there, Ray feels as if his brain’s really short-circuiting.
But it doesn’t last long, as he realizes the blows stop coming.
Ray blinks himself, forcing some soberness to his still diluted mind. He takes a glance back.
“…Norman?”
His boyfriend was about to deliver another swing. But Ray notices something wrong. Norman’s pupils are too dilated. His movement a little shaky.
“Yellow!” he blurts out, just a few seconds before the wooden paddle almost managed to come in contact with his skin.
He watches as the paddle drops from Norman’s hand motionlessly to the floor, and his boyfriend takes a half-step back gingerly.
“Am– am I…? D-did I hurt you? Did I hurt you too much? Did I—”
Ray sighs. He scoots back a bit so he’s in a sitting position now before he reaches out and takes his boyfriend’s hands into his.
“No.” He shakes his head. “That was good.”
“But you…”
Ray looks up and tugs his boyfriend’s hands, urging the other to look at his eyes.
“I did it because you’re not focusing,” he explains slowly. “You’re not on the right mindset, aren’t you?”
“I…”
“Why you didn’t say anything?” he cuts off.
Norman turns his palm upwards, so it’s his hands now that are clasping his. But he averts his eyes as he squeezes it.
“You…looked like you were enjoying it… But I wasn’t sure… I just didn’t want to ruin your fun,” Norman finally admits. “I’m sorry… Now I’ve ruined it, anyway.”
“Don’t be.” Ray lets out a long sigh, squeezing the hands in his in a reassuring manner. “I’ve told you before, right? The safeword goes both ways. I know you’re new to this kind of things, something’s bound to make you uncomfortable. But you need to tell me. I can’t freaking read your mind!”
Norman chuckles a bit. “Yes…I’m sorry.”
For a brief moment they both pause. The dimly lit room is quiet.
He makes a circling motion on the back of his boyfriend’s hands in his palms idly before he speaks up again. “Are you still in the mood?” he asks quietly. “Because uhh, I am. Kind of.”
That’s probably a rather roundabout way of just saying that he’s still horny. But well.
Norman blinks. He bends down to pick up the paddle again. “Maybe we can try it again…?”
Ray shakes his head. “No. That’s better for another time.” He yanks his boyfriend to the bed instead, so the other falls on top of him, smiling slightly at the demanding gesture.
“I can take care of you,” Norman murmurs to his lips. Their lips graze each other softly, moving languidly in their lethargic tempo, before Ray pushes his tongue in and turns it into a passionate make out session.
“You better,” he mutters between their kiss, staring at the other with hooded eyes.
Norman snickers quietly and steals a light peck. “Yes, yes I will.”
Fingers begin trailing softly on his side, making Ray moans at ticklish yet somehow sensual sensation.
Those fingers stop just below his hip bones.
“Can I finger you?” Norman whispers.
He snorts. “Honestly? Anytime.”
Norman snickers again, reaching out for lube from their bedside drawer—Ray is forever grateful for that time Emma passive-aggressively suggested him to always store some packs of condom and lubes in that drawer, who knows how many times those things come in handy.
A finger slips itself in him. A bit cold at first, but he honestly loves the sensation. Norman’s other hand trailing on his body, doing wonders to the many sensitive spots his boyfriend remembers by heart.
His sensitive spot got grazed. More fingers slipping into him. A hand warps itself on his cock, rubbing it just the right way and that’s the precise moment he groans out loudly.
“I– I…”
He whines. His body quivering violently as climax takes over him in a silent scream.
Ray pauses and pants his breath. The quick session wasn’t as much as mind blowing as it was satisfying. But still, being taken care of gently by his boyfriend, a warmth contentedness feeling filling up his chest.
“Do you…?” he offers. Eyes fluttering close as his body still lethargic from climbing down the climax.
But Norman shakes his head. “No. Uhh…I’m not really in the mood, honestly. I just wanted to take care of you.”
“You just wanted to jerk me off.” Ray rolls his eyes at the sheepish man.
“So, what if I was?”
“Weirdo,” he comments lightly, before catching the other lips in his and leading the into another make out session. “Still love you, though.”
