Alright I got woken up at like 3 AM with FORBIDDEN MEMORIES™️ and remember that MelloNear literally had a fandom video game. What other fucking fandom has SHIPPING VIDEO GAMES.

I think it just hit me since recently I've been thinking a lot about how fandom spaces shift over time (especially as we have re-boots, live-actions, or other media that helps reinvigorate fandoms like currently with A:TLA) and honestly, MelloNear has had so many ups and downs and like…as someone who was in this fandom WAY too young and grew up with it I want to see how many people on tumblr, who were there in ye olden wild west days, remember the stuff I do and also for those of you who weren’t around back then but are big now, here’s the insane history that I remember:

1 - LiveJournal (LJ) and the LOST FICS LJ was initially one of the better places to find fics – but a lot of authors jumped ship when FF.NET started to take over and for other reasons that were before my time. Finding fics on LJ that haven’t been deleted was/is hard and their UI is trash I never could get a grasp on it. (The irony of FF.NET now being dead and people jumping ship to AO3 and Tumblr lol.) Astyzia_ii used to write really fucking good MelloNear stuff there. She was one of the first people I ever read that had insanely good Near characterization. Unfortunately, her account no longer exists. But some of the things she wrote were things like:

Near being a total brat (at the time, no one else was really writing Near like that. Including Near lying to Mello about being assaulted by other children at Whammy's, just generally putting him in his place, etc.)

Mello painting Near’s nails black (then this trope just went off on FF.NET and everyone was writing fics like that - I really like when stuff like this comes out of fandom)

Mello finding out that Near, despite being in love with him, thought Mello was so unapproachable he had sex with someone else (implied Giovanni) and Mello is basically confronting Near about it at a time when Near was treated as a prudish virgin in fandom

Finding each other in the apocalypse AU

Mello and Near being like high school sweethearts (salthearts?) and Mello wanting to go to a University in the BIG CITY but would ignore the offer if it meant staying with Near (and super tragic fic too. They pull over on a freeway after an argument about it and then Near just straight up gets hit by a car after pushing Mello out of the way 💀 and you don't know if Near survived)

And obviously, many more really creative AUs

2 - KurosakiAkane and VIDEO GAMES Akane, as Spanish artist and the original “cursed moons” drew some of the most viral and prolific MelloXNear doujinshis and EVEN MADE FANDOM VIDEO GAMES. Like I can’t believe I forgot about this. Akane literally made fandom yaoi video games and they were SO GOOD. What other fandom has shipping video games you’d think it’d be the norm I can barley wrap my head around it

Her first game “D.nD Poisoned” can be downloaded here if you scroll to the bottom (but I haven’t checked the link so be wary…) but it was basically taking place during Whammy’s days, and yes, Mello has a knife cause he’s unhinged since those were just the times ig.

“D.nD Infection” was her second, unfinished game, which would have been when they were mid-Kira investigation post Mello blowing up the base. I found a website that hosts the short demo she released.

Her games literally inspired a new wave of AUs for the fandom in the fic department and she was just a titan who kept everyone together on all corners of the internet. When she decided to leave the fandom in like 2011 after 2010’s great FF.NET purge of M rated fics it kind of felt like the beginning of the end.  

3 - Doujinshis (fandom comics) Most doujinshi artists had their own websites and MANY were Japanese / Chinese translated into English (pretty sure Akane was the first one to create them exclusively in English...). There are so many archived on YouTube that I used to watch all the time. You can even still find some of Akane’s doujinshi’s on Youtube like:

One of the ones that was most impactful on me was this one that I cannot remember the name of, and it wasn't by Akane, but basically Mello, freshly 16 trying to stay alive, resorts to prostitution, and the big revealer at the end is he’s just kind of left there, alone, opens up his hand and there’s a little white puzzle piece he stole from Near and pretty sure the last line was something along the lines of “no one else” and I just 😭

4 - Lost Art and the Famous Water Colours

A lot of that water-colour MN art you see floating around was from, if I'm not mistaken, a Chinese MelloNear artist and their website I think was just "w" or something and she had created 100s of MN art.

5 - ForbiddenSoul562 and FF.NET Beef and Fan Fic Rap Battles

Soul was one of the BIGGEST creators on FF.NET (and luckily, she’s still active both on FF.Net and here on tumblr!) I remember when she had like a fic battle with another creator FragilePuzzle (who is also on tumblr and active – but they post M-ll-M-tt stuff now and pretty sure they deleted all their MelloNear fics... Their active handle on tumblr is mizzmellos I think? Anyways, they’ve also switched from writing to art and its really good!) And there was like a whole “vote who you think wrote the better fic” and it was like Clash of the Titans. Shame that Fragile, as they used to go by, doesn’t like MN anymore since they also wrote a lot of really good stuff. When Fragile stopped posting and Soul went on an extended hiatus that also felt like another beginning of the end loooooool (pretty sure Soul and Mzz had an interaction here on tumblr reminding each other of each other and I had so much social anxiety I was like headbanging watching this interaction go down and if I'm remembering correctly it started cordial but didn't really end well but I could be 100% misremembering the tone of the interaction but if you dig through Soul's tumblr you can probably find it or mzzs for that matter.) 6 - Kids Writing Dark Tropes

I feel like I should make another post and just…describe how Mello and Near were portrayed individually and in a relationship during that time since it was honestly insane. Very toxic, very star-crossed lovers who revolve around each other but are devastating together and are healthier a part, and so much more. I’m much happier with where their characterization and how the fandom has evolved currently from those times lol. But I think over the years I’ve also realized how fucking young all of us were (I was literally like…13 consuming all this media which retroactively, I’m like YIKES 18+ is 18+ for a reason and I even realized some of my favourite authors / creators who I thought were way older than me or like “cool teenagers” were also close to my age and not that much older so no wonder we were all writing crazy unstable relationship shit like that - which can be fun! - but this was literally all. the. time.).

Honestly that’s all I can remember for now but what a wild ride. I know FF.NET is like, a super hard platform to use now (and just gets worse every day 🙃) but if anyone wants some MN fic recs from the vault lmk and I’ll make a post about it.

Good afternoon everyone! It is time once again for another update post. Are you excited? I hope so. Sorry for dropping it so late, I forgot to download my files and. Yeah. So there’s not much here, other than the once’s I needed. Oopsie.

I’d like to open this post by introducing my new collaborator, @bat-luun He has been helping me a TON with the backgrounds, and is a complete life saver, as well as an extremely talented artist. I’m so happy to have him, both as a friend and as an artist. He has done the Bonus Content banner for the post, when it goes up tomorrow. Go show him some love!!

Before I get into the juicy details, I’d like to thank you all for your patience with me, and request that you hang on just a liiiitle longer. I am participating in the Sonic Big Bang, which I have just entered crunch time in. The project is SIGNIFICANTLY longer than I anticipated, and I have until the 25th to get it done. I am working hard on it, and if it comes to it, I may have to put this project on a little bit of a hold to finish it. Only until the 25th, though, and I will still be working on it! Keep an eye open on my main account for the project in June, when all of the works go up. I’m very excited, and while its not jackal related, I think it will be a ton of fun ;)

Mitnick x Reader x Imalia

[This can be seen as platonic or them having a crush on you/ the reader. Mostly made a fun, little breather from something that I’m working on for a different blog that’s got a heavier tone to it. Barely proof read so sorry about that. Here’s an advise about dating sites, don’t use dating sites]

Your phone sitting on the desk next to you pinged. When you saw that it was the messaging app that you had downloaded , and the guy that had been bothering you for the past week, you groaned in frustration. You were going to just ignore it, but then the chime went off two more times. Before you could pick up your phone to try to think of how to talk to this guy, there was a set of spindly, sharp fingers that swiped it away.

“Listen, this is an intervention.” A voice that sounded like it was sistered with a constantly stuffy nose along with the fact you didn’t know that there was someone else in the room with you until a second ago let you know exactly who was here.

Mitnick cringed as he unlocked your phone, opened the app and started to scroll through the messages from the person bugging you. “Eck, going back through these is a nightmare! Can’t imagine them being pointed at me.”

“You’ve been in my messages?” You question.

“Did you ever think that I wasn’t?” He snickered as he looked through to be sure there wasn’t anything he missed during the transfer to his computer.

You knew that was a stupid question. There was alway more of a chance that the Nosferatu were linked into just about everyone’s everything, especially where computers are concerned. In fact, it was even more likely in this area that Mitnick was the one personally set to watch over your stuff.

“If it’s so awful to look at, then why are you still doing it?” You went to reach for your phone, but him being a rather tall guy with the long arms to match it made it easy for him to keep it away from you.

“If it’s so awful to look at, then why don’t you tell him to screw off?” Mitnick rebutted.

There was a frustrated groan that filled the room, not only for the fact that he asked you that, but also the fact that you didn’t have a clear answer for it. Overall this whole night was turning out to be miserable.

“I mean, I want to. But, like, he seems like he’s just awkward, maybe a bit clueless. I don’t want to be unnecessarily mean to the guy-“

This was cut off with Mitnick breaking into a full out laughter. He curled in on himself in a way that you could finally snatch your phone back, but he didn’t seem to care as he was still too tickled by what he just read.

“Aw, yeah! I totally forgot that! This loser called himself-“ Mitnick cleared his throat and put on the most stereotypical lead, romance character voice he could muster, “ ‘Rare~ like a black panther~’!“ There was another loud guffaw that followed this.

“I’m sorry; he said WHAT?!” Imalia’s raspy voice came from a dark corner behind you, the rest of her emerged shortly after and snatched the phone back away from you. “Oh, no! No, no, no, no, no! As your friend and expert meddler I cannot allow this to stand.”

“Should have known that you were here too.” You grumbled before turning back to Mitnick, “Did you bring all of the Warrens with you?”

“Nah, jus me ‘n Imalia know about it. Got to leave you with some dignity.” He teased with a boney elbow to your ribs. “Remember they don’t want to sound rude.” Mitnick reminded Imalia when he herd her typing something.

“Just grabbing something right now…” she mumbled as she was scrolling through something.

“Hey, don’t be downloading stuff onto my phone!” You chided.

“It’s just one picture.” She waved you off and managed to turn so you couldn’t get your phone back. If there were one thing that was the Nosferatu’s unspoken talent, it was taking and keeping things away from people until they were ready to give it back (if ever.)

Imalia switched back over to the messaging app, tapped on the username, and started typing something.

“(Hey, do you know what my favorite band is?)”

“(…)-

(No, babe, what is it?)”

This made her scoff and turn to you, “Really? I can’t really say that I ever felt even a little bad about what I’m about to do, but I certainly don’t now. Callin’ you, ‘babe,’ after only talking for like a week…”

“(Ghost)” she typed and then sent the album cover that she had downloaded. Then Imalia tapped on his name and pulled up his profile.

“Uh, Mal? What does that have to do with-“

“Pspspspspsps!” Imalia shushed Mitnick with a flittering of her hand as she messed around with the options.

“(Really? But you shouldn’t…)” the response preview popped up on top of the screen just as Imalia tapped the option she was looking for.

“Blocked!” She practically sang as everything went blank before going back to the home-screen.

“Hey!” You yelled as you finally managed to get your phone back. Once it was in your hands, you looked everything over to make sure she didn’t do anything else; while she might not have been as tech-savvy as Mitnick, there were few who were, but she could still mess things up faster than you could blink.

“It was for your own good, kid.” Imalia patted your shoulder.

“Yeah,” you started as you looked up at her, “but, maybe we should have-“

“Did you want to keep talkin’ with that guy?” Mitnick asked in a unbelieving but playful monotone.

“Well, no-“

“Then I’m gonna say something you will never hear me say again: Imalia’s right.” He concluded.

“All’s well that ends well.” Imalia aptly added an adage like she was on a low budget anime.

“Look,” you barely got the word out as you were rubbing your temples to ward off an on-coming, stress-induced migraine, “Just tell me that you two will stay out of my stuff from now on.”

“No can do.” Mitnick replied. “That’s literally my job.”

“I also refuse.” Imalia chimed in as well. “I’m a nosy bitch.”

These two were going to be the death of you. At least you didn’t have to deal with that weirdo online any more.

Before I get stuck into the spin-off books, I feel I need to do due diligence and finish reading Every Man’s Battle, which for those just joining me, is the how-to guide to being a totally normal and sexually pure Christian man of the early 2000s.

Prologue

Previously, in my battle against the battle for sexual purity, I only made it through the first chapter of part two before I got so mad that I had to stop. But now I’ve downloaded an illegal ebook copy so I can skim read way easier. (Even better… the screenshots will be more legible.)

Time for… Every Man’s Battle, part two, the chapter called

Obedience or mere excellence?

To introduce the weird theme of this chapter, they start off with:

It doesn’t get any better for many pages. I remember why I got bored out of my gourd now.

Fred drops a totally not made up anecdote from his church:

To recap, Mary got a tear in her eye because of popular movies with racy sexual situations,

This book is good. I just forgot it was fun because it kept trying to tell me about American business practices! …and then Fred started talking about his church for another section. It’s boring. Don’t worry, you’re missing nothing here.

OKAY FINALLY, SOME GOOD STUFF! Fred wants to talk about the teens.

Our adolescent Christians are often indistinguishable from their non-Christian peers, sharing the same activities, music, jokes, and attitudes about premarital sex. Kristin, a teenager, told us, “Our youth group is filled with kids faking their Christian walk. They are actually taking drugs, drinking, partying, and having sex. If you want to walk purely, it’s easier to hang around with the non-Christians at school than to hang around with the Christians at church. I say that because school friends know where I stand and they say, ‘That’s cool—I can accept that.’ The Christian kids mock me, laughing and asking, ‘Why be so straight? Get a life!’ They pressure my values at every turn.”

Kristin, with all the love in my heart: you are such a dobber. Why be so straight? Get a life!

She told us about Brad, a lay leader’s son, who told her, “I know intercourse is wrong before marriage, but anything short of that is fine. I love to get up under a bra.”

Brad, you can’t tell these things to Kristin. She is a cop!!!

Fred goes on to account some more things he’s been told by totally real people he totally knows:

Sadly, the adults are no different from the Christian teens. Linda, a single career woman, says her adult singles group at church has “players”—men and women who stalk their prey to satisfy their own needs.

Linda, you too are totally not made up, I’m sure.

Oh we have a call to action now! Let’s all check our uh… standards for mixture.

The last one is a bit of an exaggeration. You can’t actually control your kids’ thoughts until you master the techniques in Every Man’s Psychic Battle,

I’m detecting some of Steve’s touch on the adjectives here. Full-busted sweaters.,. slick spandex…

We have countless churches filled with countless men encumbered by sexual sin, weakened by low-grade sexual fevers.

I’m losing it… this kid had the opportunity to do the funniest possible thing and absolutely took it. I hope you’re doing great out there, James. Never let the Kristins of this world win!!

Here's what I think so far;

the concept ★★★★★ It hooked me and that's why I'm here.

The Ros ★★★★★The M!Ros Had me on my knees.

The writing ★★★ Here's where it in my humble opinion could use some improving; The grammar seems to be Off.and that's affecting the gameplay,I understand what's it trying to say but the descriptions feels off because of it.Here's a solution I myself go with while writing my If games(Ideas just to be clear)since English is not my first language. Write the story with no concern for the grammar on the medium you usually write on( lap-paper-phone..) then write it again on phone using a writing app,I use foretelling for example ,and download Grammarly. It will spot your mistakes and will help,Not indefinitely, of course but for the most part. I'm sure there are other ones maybe even better that you can use but that's what I personally use and hasn't failed me.Also that's only my opinion and suggestion,take both as a grain of salt.

The descriptions ★★★★ They are not bad, maybe because of the grammar I feel that it too needs some improving. You have got a good vocabulary range tho and that's good!

For this one maybe make more deceptions to make us feel immersed in the story and the pain the character is going through,as for example when The MC sees the c*rpses of her mother and friend ( forgive me for I have forgot her name) ,while the friend being horribly taken care of and witnessed by the MC at such a young age,The mc is likely to be traumatized and I honestly feel like they're sad sure but not enough and certainly are not tramatized, so yeah. Or another suggestion would be to just be straight to point with not so much descriptions (you already have that but)like stating that the event had you tramatized for life ,for example; “Their Dead bodies are forever engraved in your mind, leaving you traumatized for life.”( it's bad I know but that what I immediately thought of and it matched what I'm trying to say)

again, that's just in my opinion and you're free to throw it out the window.

The game mechanics- okay this one I won't judge since you mentioned that's your first time using it and I must confess twine sounds so complicated that's why I'm sticking to choice script. But I just wanted to say that I find that when we are having a conversation with a character, the friend for example and choose a choice, it will present you with the flavour of the choice and then take you again to the choices with the same choice being not removed even though we chose it. So- yup.

and overall these problems are not something to be overly concerned about,like for the most part it's really good and I understand What's the story is telling.

Obviously, I'm not an expert in writing or anything and I'm not being humble,I just started writing this year lol. So it just what I felt and maybe the others felt another way than I did and it's just me,I just thought I will give you some feedback with solutions I could think of rather than throwing you the problem and not offering how to right it.and my opinions can be totally ignored too as like I said maybe it's Just me so yeah you're the author do what you feel it's good .

Regardless, it's not really a problem as I said and it really is just the beginning and things can improve with time so yeah that's just what I thought of the current demo !and am awaiting further updates for sure .

Good game overall ★★★★!

First of all, I want to thank you for all your helpful commentary and critique. It is clear you have put thought into this and it brings me so much joy you can't imagine.

Writing

I am also not a native English speaker so perhaps some stuff slipped through my attention. I will be sure to do a thorough spell check before the next update since I will have more time to work on it. I thank you for mentioning so I can check for it.

I will also work on improving descriptions. The writing suffered partly because I wanted to get the demo out quick enough so that people would not be disappointed. I want to generally improve many scenes and descriptions (particularly the ones close to the end).

Coding

Part of the code is placeholder until I can learn more complex tricks on twine. It is funny that you mention choicscript because at first I meant to code there, but it was really hard for me because I am a visual learner.

Regardless, I am working on rebuilding part of that code and making improvements where I can. Some will also include improving the general layout appearance and UI of the game.

Conclusion

Once again, I thank you for your thoughtful review and for all your suggestions. I am genuinely very grateful that anyone spend that much time typing and thinking about my silly little game.

huh (Dev log # I'M ON 4?!!?!?!)

Hi guys! It’s me, @magpies4days on a different blog! That’s really the only promise I kept. Whoops. That’s why I don’t do promises. Anyways, since the last time I updated y'all, I passed all my finals and everything that was important. Yep, I passed my finals, which seems miraculous, because I accidentally studied the wrong study guide for my history exam and didn't really sleep enough the night before, and I got a 90 on it, which I'll be honest, that was the lowest grade I've ever gotten on a test in that class, but it's still an A so I won't cry about it. I turned in a really shitty essay too for one of my classes, but it seems that my professor didn’t actually read it because she gave me a 100 (ain’t gonna complain about that). I also procrastinated so hard on my graphic design final that I did it in like 3 hours and finished it 2 minutes before it was late. I still turned it in 5 minutes late because my computer decided it was funny to start acting up. Oh well, I passed that class, even for honor's standards. Normally I would be happy getting a B because I'd get a C and still celebrate but unfortunately I slayed too hard that my GPA was the minimum requirement for the Honor's organization to notice me. That's the Thinker in my Myers Briggs type showing baybee (JK JK I'm an INFP (unfortunately.)). Anyways, I’m on my winter break, and as much as I love getting breaks, god I forgot how much I hate summer and winter breaks. Summer breaks make me depressed because I have nothing to do, and winter breaks make me depressed because it’s literally the worst season of the year (cold weather (I have cold urticaria), dry air, less sun, the position of the sun is weird, and d3 barely does anything).

Anyways, onto the actual dev stuff. I probably should’ve figured this out the moment I started my idea, but I found out that to export my game to Mac, I’d have to have a developer id and pay for it. Which now I understand why most indie devs never upload to Mac. Oh well. (Fun fact: Mac actually has a feature called BootCamp which lets you portion your hard drive to allow you to have a Windows driver (Be wise on your portioning though because it’s permanent). I found this out when I was 16 and trying to download Pizza Tower demos. Totally not saying that so you could play it on your “Mac,” *wink wink*).

I had to switch my dialog stuff from a script I found on the internet, to an add-on that most Godot devs use ( Dialogic). I know. I am awful. However, there is a reason to this, and it’s entirely because I am an idiot. I have experimented with how Godot exports JSONs, and as it turns out, the images nor the audio would load! The text would, but it’s just not the same, especially when the dialog box is supposed to change with the character speaking. While it could be something in my code that is causing this to happen, or I'm forgetting to export something else while checking off all the boxes, it still gives me a headache and I decided it was for the best to switch. I may not be able to code for now, but there may be a day when I can. Hopefully. I had to change the layout of the dialog stuff because Dialogic kinda makes it like a visual novel kinda thing. I decided to torture myself and make everyone have different heights. Don't worry, everyone has relatively normal heights. Except for mayyybe Sleepy Weepy. They're like 6'2 (which may mean there's some cutoff for their sprites).

Aaaaanyways, enough about me suffering about dialog again. I’ve been working on the beginning and ending cutscene so that I can first torture everyone with 5 minutes of dialog in the beginning and then at the end music with text that may give people a hard time reading the lyrics. The animation isn’t done, but the text kinda is??? I’ll have to revise it like I have the past 56 times because my future self is hard to please, and I think everyone is out of character except Xandra.

Yeahhh, that’s about it so far. I made new music while I was being harassed with finals. Take a gander, but with your ears. Or don't, forcing you is unethical.

Top 10 Sleepy Weepy of all time!!!!! (This is doesn't even make it in the honorable mentions)

Still slowly (VERY slowly 😭) making progress on replaying Fire Emblem Engage so I can get back to the point I was at before my save got deleted and continue my liveblog. As I’m doing that I decided it had been too long since I enjoyed an otome game so I have also been playing Jack Jeanne!

It’s funny when I first heard the news of Jack Jeanne being localized it actually didn’t catch my attention. But like a week ago I saw a random post about it praising it and then I looked it up and saw it was getting a TON of praise. I also looked up some non-spoilery art and info and thought the style looked gorgeous and liked the bits of story and gameplay I found. So I said fuck it and bought it like four days ago.

And WOW I am happy I did!!!!!

First off, the art in this game is BEAUTIFUL! Sui Ishida, the writer and artist for Tokyo Ghoul, is responsible not only for the gorgeous art and character designs but also did a bunch of other stuff for this game (even writing the lyrics for the songs which is incredible). Seriously the amount of time I spend just staring at CGs is nuts, they’re all so incredible whether they’re comedic or dramatic. The character designs are all so wonderful too and so expressive!

The music is so incredible too! The background tracks are great and fitting for the situations. So far I only just finished the Newcomers’ Performance so the only vocal songs I’ve heard so far are the main theme Jack & Jeanne of Quartz, and the two songs for The Sleepless King: Fortune Color is Crystal and Beyond the Plane Tree. Bruh….I never skip the main theme that’s how good it is. And it’s sung in character by the heroine and the six LIs. I went and bought the mp3 for it I’ve been obsessing over it that much. Fortune Color is Crystal was not what I expected considering the nature of the play it’s in but it’s so catchy! And holy fucking shit Beyond the Plane Tree is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, the harmonies in it are so 😭😭😭😭 I’m playing this game blind (with a spoiler free guide) so I haven’t listened ahead to the other songs but I was so impressed by these three that not only did I buy the mp3 for the main theme I ordered the vocal collection since the other songs aren’t available for mp3 download.

The story is definitely interesting me so far. Like I said I’ve only just finished the Newcomers Performance so I’m not that far in the story but it managed to hook me in entirely despite the seemingly simple sounding premise of “heroine disguised herself as a boy to attend all boys academy”. I’m actually surprised by how many times so far I actually forgot our heroine is supposed to be in disguise 😂😂😂 Not because the game doesn’t use the premise properly but more because there’s so much shit going on!!! And it slowly introduces new characters and plot points so that I’m always eager to see what happens next. Especially in terms of the plays (oh yeah this takes place in a theater school sorry I forgot to bring that up)! With this first play I was excited to see who was cast in what roles, the plot of it, watching the rehearsals, and seeing it all come together in the end in spectacular fashion! I like the stat raising element, nothing complex or luck based about it so it’s not aggravating. I’m totally in love with the rhythm game aspect, though it means whenever we get to the actual plays I’m more focused on getting a top score than watching the video of the performance. But that’s what the gallery is for right? The interesting thing about this game from what I hear is that, unlike typical otome games, Jack Jeanne is like 80% common route. Like while you make choices that earn affection and can pick who you hang out with, the LI specific routes don’t come in until WAAAAAY later. I thought I would mind since I generally prefer more romance in my otome (sounds silly but people who play otome games probably understand what I mean) but so far I don’t care because the story is just that enjoyable (and it’s not like there’s no moments at all).

And then there’s the characters. I like when MCs are voiced and I’m especially glad Kisa is voiced since this is a story about theater. I really like her so far she’s sweet and a hard worker, I can’t wait to see how she grows as both an actor and a person! I love her standing up to Otori and doubling down on seeking assistance and working together during practice. And I love how sweet and bell-like her voice is! Suzu (to the surprise of no one because I’m Miss Predictable) is my fave. Sweetheart, earnest, energetic, puppy in human form? Yeah that’s a LI tailor made for Willow! I love how much he has already grown as an actor from how robotic he sounded when he first practiced his lines to his PHENOMENAL performance for his first time on stage in The Sleepless King (which by the way how did my boy Suzu not win any award for that performance?!?!?! This game is rigged😡). And bruh I nearly fucked up both rhythm game segments for the Newcomers Performance because of how blindsided I was by how beautiful his singing voice is (don’t know why I was so shocked I know his VA is incredible). Sou is so soft and sweet so far and I can already see some hints for where his story might go (possibly about him not standing out as much?). I like that he’s in the know about Kisa and I do love me some childhood friend romances! Mitsuki makes me laugh with his tsundereness but I love how compared to typical tsundere characters he’s more softspoken and doesn’t go heavy handed on it. Negi is so funny so far I really enjoy whenever he’s onscreen talking a mile a minute or causing his own little brand of chaos. Kai seems super kind and I love that he seems like an animal expert, I wanna know more about him. And Fumi is just super cool to me, his design to his voice to his personality. I really love this Quartz squad, they’re so lovable and have such enjoyable dynamics with each other! Regarding side characters I’m only just beginning to know some, and I know there are a ton I have yet to meet, but I really like the ones I’ve met so far. They’re either kind, funny, a mix of both, or have yet to really display any trait that makes me feel one way or another. The only side character I have strong feelings towards as of where I am now in the game is Otori. And even then I find him enjoyably annoying. He’s talented and knows it, but he’s also an annoying dick and I enjoy proving him wrong. Also he’s hilarious without ever meaning to be, which keeps me from being too annoyed at him.

Anyways yeah that’s my ramble about Jack Jeanne so far! There’s probably a ton I missed or forgot but I just wanted to gush for a moment about this great game! I’m having so much fun so far and can’t wait to see what the rest of the game is gonna bring. I’m at the very start of June so it’s the Summer Performance next!

Interactive Fiction - Twine Resource Megalist

This Resource Megalist is intended to centralise the resources for the IF Tumblr community to create Interactive Fiction with Twine. While most will focus on the Twine formats, other useful resources will be included.

I don't know much about other Interactive Fiction programs or format aside from Twine. Even then, I tend to only use Sugarcube. Though this list may try to cover all Twine formats in its resources, my bias for the SugarCube format will be obvious.

Obviously, you are not forced to do every single one of those actions below (it would be hypocritical of me to say so), but it helps show the authors their readerbase care about their works. Most action only takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes.

Your Birthday and Life Updates

I have been wanting to make a post for a while, but with our move across states and all the other things that fell out (my car being totaled :,( rip) I didn’t have the energy. Thankfully, things have slowed down a little bit before this academy starts. Actually, let’s just start from the last time that I updated our blog. 

January/February time frame our work situation began to get a little messy. I was tired of certain people at the company taking advantage of my kindness and skills. As well as my time, that was being taken from my little one and it wasn’t even for good people or a good cause. Our mutual friendships blossomed in some ways and detached in others. For that, I’m sorry that it happened how it did because I never wanted that to be the end result. It was super fun though to go out with Austin and Kiara and Nicole to just have a good time without work being involved. March we returned to finish the rounds of testing for this new career. It was fun and we got to do some trails, but we also got rear ended (in the same damn car...bro what is the deal?!) and the meth head fled. We took a picture with my bumper to laugh it off as we went back home. I think that is one of my favorite things about you and our relationship. I don’t have to consume myself with dread and misery (I know, I know, but you’re “emo” *shush*) unnecessarily (see how I closed that out?). No matter how shitty the situation is, you find a way to make me smile and we take it on together. It’s the first time in my life that I haven’t been so uptight in a relationship.

April was an eternity as we prepared for our last month before the move. It was the anticipation stress that was killing us (me...it was mostly me). The tensions kept rising and I told Jason he could basically suck my dick - which he didn’t take well in the team area. Too bad bitch boy. Then Jason wanted to go to war in Signal, which is honestly so weird. What a weird platform and principle (being wrong) to die on bro? Like are you good? May was a whole year within the first week of the month. My official last day was the second. I got a giant nail in my tire with a washer on it (that’s convenient isn’t it?) and had to get a new set of tires.... to then get t-boned with my little one in the backseat...just trying to get Dingy his damn patch. Then he had a fever of 105.6 and I had to take him to urgent care, and of course they cancelled my health insurance early. My dad was in my uncle’s plane when it crashed. Honest to god, it was a country song and if we had a dog babe....it would have died. I cried at my munchkin’s Kindergarten graduation and everyone wanted to bring that up. Then came the move, the dreaded move and the insurmountable (so it seemed) move/road trip. The Uhaul reservation kept changing because they didn’t have a 20 footer available. Then the one we got had a check engine light on it so we had to go to a different location. When you started it that check engine light came on....then they forgot the dolly. Then my mom delayed our start time because she wanted her “last night of freedom”. Finally, once we touched down at the apartment... the fucking UHaul’s battery died mysteriously. It started to hail while my new car was in the open parking for us to download the garage and the maintenance dude pulled in when I was trying to get it to cover. You got to meet Minns though! I’m so glad you both liked each other and you had a good time listening to his stories - that dude is honestly the biggest life saver I have out here (aside from you now).

And now? June! Your birth month. The month that I usually pay no mind to and don’t really enjoy as I’m not the biggest summer fan (at least out in the desert, but here it is nice!) You started your new position while you build for your future. I’m doing the admin stuff to prep for the academy and we got a new kitten!! He’s such a snuggle bug and Athena ended up loving him. Hades has grown into the home and our family. So I decided that I was going to make you your favorite meal and get some of your favorite snacks. It turned out pretty ok! Honestly, I wish that there was more magical wording and pretty phrasing to  wrap everything up but my brain is only letting me use like 50-60% capacity. This? This is the best that we are getting currently. Let’s get to the photos already!

The Brothers and Side Characters Play the Sims

I don’t know what possessed me to make this but WHATEVER. I’ve been playing the Sims since I was a wee little girl, and I’ve seen my fair share of weird Sims stuff that I feel would fit these bozos perfectly.

My Sims have a Functional Family Life Because I Don’t (Lucifer)

God dammit Levi’s obsessed with another game... ugh.

Spends 5 minutes in Create-a-Sim and hops into a starter home.

Lucifer’s the type to start with all the average stuff and then build their stuff up as his sim gets promotions.

It’s just... so peaceful...

...he’s adopting a dog.

Look at his new little virtual family... his sim-kids are self sufficient and getting A’s in school, his Sim spouse MC or Diavolo take your pick loves his Sim-self, his sim-dog-

Mammon, like the rest of the HOL, is mooching off of Levi’s Origin account.

“AW SHIT! This house looks awesome! I’m gonna build it for Sim-me to live in!”

Mammon proceeds to build a box with rooms. Yay...

He just picks the funnest sounding job if he picks any job at all for his Sim. That’s how he ended up making 9 dollars an hour in the criminal career.

Didn’t stop Mammon from buying that solid gold bathroom set from Get Famous... a box with solid gold bathrooms.

His Sim is broke send help-

His sim’s life is so chaotic, he has a piranha pool that his sim has almost died in twice, the sim is carrying on several torrid love affairs, his sim got struck by lightning, his sim has nearly died in a grilled cheese making accident twice... in the same day.

At least once Sim-Mammon and Sim-MC get married things calm down a little.

Mammon finds out what custom content is and proceeds to download EVERYTHING HE CAN FIND.

And now he’s asking Levi why his computer is running so slow.

Expansion Pack King (Leviathan)

He got into it back when the Sims 2 was new, he’s a veteran fan.

“Bro remember when Agnes Crumplebottom would show up and whack the shit out of your sims if they were flirting?”

“Remember when that witch would show up randomly on the lot you were on if you had Makin’ Magic?”

“Remember when Bella Goth was abducted by aliens and we just... didn’t question it?”

He whines about the Sims4 and how crappy it is but still buys every expansion pack, game pack, and stuff pack.

This boy watches like 40 hours of built tutorials and ends up sobbing over his weird roofs.

Our favourite bundle of rage is a master architect and the amount of followers on the Gallery he has shows it.

He takes up those build shell challenges and always ends up making them look positively perfect.

Asmo’s always using his houses, and Satan often takes requests when he gets bored.

No Mammon, he reserves the right to refuse to build a golden castle for you- YOUR SIM HAS 40 SIMOLEONS-

No mods, no CC, he’s building with what EA gave him.

...and EA gave him debug objects, and he’s not going to explain how to get them.

The one time he did actually play with a family... it was one sim and seven cats.

He tries to play without cheats... and ends up getting frustrated and turns on cheats.

Custom Content Soap Opera (Asmodeus)

Asmo spends 5 hours in Create a Sim then just... clicks out of the game.

That’s how it goes most of the time, buuuuuut when he gets super invested in a family he’s made, boy howdy is he INVESTED.

Sim A is carrying on an affair with Sim C who’s in love with Sim B who’s married to Sim A but Sim D wants to kill Sim A and C even though they’re the illegitimate child of Sim C-

When Asmo realizes that in the Sims 4 he needs to manufacture all the drama himself and he can’t just sit back with a glass of wine and watch the fireworks, he switches to the Sims 2 and 3.

“...why is this old lady beating up my Sim..?”

He immediately recoils in horror upon seeing how ugly the Sims are pre Sims4.

HE NEEDS TO FIX THIS-

Ah, there we go, perfect. Custom Content to the rescue!

He ends up remaking the entire world just so he doesn’t have to look at weird looking Sims.

Asmo is the only one to have finished a proper Legacy Challenge, but it gets crazy chaotic after gen 3.

“My sim just got abducted by aliens and now he’s pregnant- WHAT?!”

He has about 40 saves and only two he actually plays.

Just a Big Ol’ Happy Family (Beelzebub)

Beel found the game, proceeded to make everyone in create-a-sim to the best of his abilities, and made everyone get along.

That’s why Sim-Lucifer and Sim-Belphie are on a swing set together, they’re friends :D

“Hey Luke do you think you can make this?” “I-is that a cake shaped like a hamburger?” “Yes. Please make.”

He took one look at the cooking options and decided to max out his Sim’s cooking skill to unlock all the options.

Beel proceeded to drool all over his keyboard. Gross...

Boy howdy did he have some crazy dinner suggestions!

Overall, very wholesome Sim-life, except for the time Sim-Levi died because the toilet caught fire, don’t worry, Sim-Beel knows how to make ambrosia.

All is good in the Sim save...

...until Sim-Beel ate pufferfish nigiri and fuckin died-

Wait Did I Not Pause- (Belphie)

Huh, this game looks fine... I’ll play for a little- *SNORE*

Belphie makes some sims, plops them into a starter home, plays for an hour, then falls asleep.

He wakes up five hours later to absolute carnage.

Three sims have died because someone decided to make Mac and Cheese and the oven caught fire, the kids were taken away by social services, and the dog ran away.

“...heheh, holy shit everyone look.”

He doesn’t play often, but when he does, death occurs. He has found out every death method for every game from Sims 2 to 4.

And that INCLUDES the Sims Medieval! You guys remember that game?

Sometimes it’s not intentional, but Belphie got bored with the totally normal life his sims were living and decided to spice it up.

“Why are the ghosts breaking my showers..?”

Help There’s a Bug- (Diavolo)

The Crown Prince started playing when he noticed Lucifer was playing it.

He was immediately obsessed.

Dia mostly plays the Sims Medieval because he likes the feeling of achievement after completing a quest!

“Barbatos... why isn’t my Sim completing their task? The icon won’t show up.” “My lord it appears the game is bugged.” “:(“

No one thought to tell Diavolo that EA doesn’t plan on offering bug support to a game made in like... 2009

This doesn’t matter! Look at how great his kingdom is doing- oh no his hero has the plague-

He plays through the Pirates and Nobles expansion and manages to get the peaceful ending, he’s so proud of himself.

“MC! Look! My Monarch’s sword is permanently on fire and I’m fighting an evil wizard!”

When he does play the other Sims games he’s pretty basic, though, he does a great job at furnishing!

Dia gets crazy sad when his Sims die... he turns off aging.

Builder no. 2 (Barbatos)

Barbie doesn’t have time for this... but when he does, he builds.

No create a sim.

No playing the game as intended.

Just builds.

It’s relaxing, okay? A nice little suburban house he’s never going to play in, maybe a treehouse, maybe a big Hollywood Mansion...

The only time he actually plays the game outside of build mode is when someone needs his help to fix something in-game.

He does download custom content build items if he feels bored by the current selection.

Oh Crap What Am I Doing?! (Simeon)

Help him. Please.

He’s so confused.

“Luke, why is my sim upset?” “He’s hungry, Simeon.” “Oh, how do I fix that?” “...Simeon-”

There’s a toilet in the middle of the living room.

The fridge is facing the wall.

There’s no bathtub or shower.

Okay, once he gets the hang of it he’s sitting pretty. His sims have good jobs, the kids are getting good grades, everything’s fine.

But Simeon won’t forget the nightmares.

What Even is This Save? (Solomon)

Solomon’s save is the definition of chaos.

One sim’s a vampire, the other is a spellcaster that really wants to fight the Callientes for some reason, there’s one normal sim that’s always sick for some reason,

It gets weird, confusing, and horrible.

Just how Solomon likes it.

His house makes no sense, like, what even is architecture?

Money cheats are needed because Solomon‘a goal of chaos and confusion is proving to be kind of expensive.

Square up Mortimer Goth, Solomon’s sims are here to steal your weird knight statue that’s worth a shit ton of simoleons for NO REASON.

He joined the scientist career for the sole purpose of getting to the alien planet and kidnapping adding an alien to the household via cheats.

The vampire ended up dying on their wedding day because Solomon forgot that he gave them the sun weakness.

Oh well, the ghost got added to the household! VAMPIRE GHOST!

The Child (Luke)

Before you say Luke’s too young to play the Sims, you should know that I was nine when I first started playing, and I turned out fiiiiiiiiiine.

He’s just happy to be playing.

Look, his sims are gardening :D

Look, his sims are building a rocket ship :D

The concept of death hit the little angel right in the face that day.

Don’t worry, with tears in his eyes, Luke quit without saving and everything was fine!

Speaking of My Sims, Luke played MySims Sky Heroes and that was when Luke had his first bout of gamer rage.

MC came over to hang out with Solomon and Simeon, and in the distance they could just hear:

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY TIME WASN’T FAST ENOUGH TO CONTINUE THE STORY!? I’LL SHOW YOU FAST ENOUGH TIME!”

Okay, maybe Simeon should take the game away... just for a bit... he should take heed not to be bitten by the incredibly angry chihuahua.

Idk if you have already answered something like this, but do you have any thoughts or headcanons about what our Precious But Sometimes Stupid vampires would think of newer technology like Google Dot or Amazon Alexa, or even just texting/group chats? I'd love to know how they interact with stuff like that! I bet Daniel would be exhausted trying to help the rest of them figure that stuff out correctly. Love your blog, it's amazing!

I have SO many thoughts about this actually because as a concept vampires with technology is inherently funny (my sense of vamp humor was shaped by WWDITS 2014). And thank you so much!!

Lestat LOVES new technology and he has absolutely no fucking idea how to use it. He's got the spirit though and the two things he can do successfully are take hundreds of selfies and text Louis with too many exclamation points and emojis. He's also the one friend with the perpetually cracked phone screen no matter how new it is. He won't put a case on it because that ruins the aesthetics. Tiktok seems up his alley if he ever figures it out, as does livestreaming. If he knew how to vlog, he would.

So Daniel is pretty good with tech, he enjoys it and tries to keep up with new developments, but he is also a boomer, so he's probably not going to be quite as down with the kids as he wants to think he is. I'm thinking "soccer mom with an iPad" level of tech literate. He can do decent troubleshooting though and is Lestat's main hookup for new devices when he breaks them or downloads seventy viruses from clicking on pop-ups

Louis pretends to be a total luddite but he's actually not. It's all an act to keep Lestat and Armand from trying to find his social media accounts. He's not super great with it, but he's reasonably competent and has a secret Twitter that he uses to save artwork/poetry/etc and to get in fights about history and culture. He might have a sad boi finsta with pretentious photography and melodramatic captions, but I haven't decided. He's torn on ebooks when Daniel shows him the Kindle app. The practicality is unbeatable but on principle it feels wrong

Armand is the best with tech and internet culture in general. He's on his phone 24/7 scrolling socials, online shopping, networking, and basically just girlbossing it up. When Bluetooth comes out, his earpiece becomes a fifth limb. I mean, he's still limited by his circumstances, but he's pretty damn savvy and even keeps up with new memes/slang terms. He doesn't use them, but he has a mental catalog mainly so he can feel superior to everyone else

Marius ONLY likes Youtube and texting. He has no interest in being taught anything else. All he needs are TedTalks and instant communication with everyone he knows so that they all have to hear every thought he has. It's a lot of thoughts and literally no one cares. The four times a year it's something important no one gets his message because they've stopped checking and he has to use the trusty brain beaming method

There is definitely a group chat. Lestat and Marius talk the most (incessantly). Armand chimes in when he has something snarky to say to one of them. Louis has it muted, but Daniel texts him screenshots of anything particularly stupid

Armand has probably scammed someone with NFTs (as he should). Daniel literally does not care anymore as long as his one Bitcoin keeps going up (he bought it as a joke in 2011 for like $10 and totally forgot about it. He's sitting on 40 grand now and has no idea what to do what to do about that)

Lestat is fascinated by Alexa and the like, but he doesn't have one because Louis is horrified by the privacy implications of the whole thing. Lestat just wants to be able to talk to a machine and have it play him Careless Whisper on command. He does not care about internet privacy as long as his life is convenient

Default Replacement Tutorial Simplified

So simplified that it’s literally in 4 pictures - start to finish replacing outfit.

You can also download pictures in full size so they’re easier to read, my own eyes hurt from looking at them in the post.

I’ve been hating on the process of default replacing clothes “new way”, that’s why i preferred using direct replace of the mesh and textures in the past. At some point i started replacing Property Sets and BinXes in my packages and also in bundles that i organize colthes with, you know for easier change of categories and order. Just replacing takes much less concentration and time compared to manually editing everything. Then at some point i’ve tried doing the same thing with default replacements and it worked. I hesitated to share this cos idk if it’s understandable or anyone cares, but i decided to make it for myself as i reminder and thought i could post it here as well.

I originally learned to do default replacements on this tutorial by Marja, so it’s based on it and simplified from it. If you’re totally new to replacing stuff and/or SimPe you might want to read trough it for more step by step explanations, for me personally such long tutorials get frustrating, this is why i tried to make this one as compact as possible, so it wouldn’t be overwhelming, but straight to the point. Do let me know though if some things aren’t clear, i’ll try to explain further.

One thing to note. From my expirience with doing this with custom clothes bundles, there were couple of outfits that had one package having different values and lines order in the PS compared to all other packages while all belonging to the same mesh and from the same creator. Idk what happened there, like they made test package first and then for some reason re-arranged the whole thing? But that’s very rare case, like 99% of the time all values match. If you found outfit where they don’t you’d just need to extract that outfit’s specific Property Set and replace that particular outfits default PS with it to make it work.

Edit: I just realised that i forgot the part about decustomizing (removing custom star) you can read about it in this tutotial, the Version and Product part of it. You can edit one of the Property Sets, decustomizing it, then commit and export it again and replace with it, that way you’ll only have to deal with “name” in the Property Sets, if you want to.

“Okay. I just have to press send...” Your fingers hovered over the icon as you chewed your lips in nervousness.

“Oh damn it.” Luna groaned before snatching your phone and pressing send, barely giving you time to retaliate

“Hey!” You complained, staring at her in disbelief

“You were taking too long” She shrugged, sipping on her milkshake as she tossed your phone back to you

You only had time to roll your eyes before phone vibrated.

‘About time you texted me, I was beginning to think you forgot. Oh and totally, I could make a lobby for you rn’

You smiled, well, looks like you’re playing with your favorite streamer group this Friday then.

Your bandmate Jace actually owns a gaming pc, to which you borrowed to play among us, which ended you up here, in his room, on a private discord call with Rae, her helping you set up for tomorrow.

“So is this your first time, ya know? Playing among us?” Rae asks as the download bar for the proximity chat

“Oh no. Uhm, My bandmates and I play all the time, sometimes on public lobbies and sometimes we drag our crew to play, especially while on the tour bus. Plus, I watch you scream and play all the time so you don’t have to worry about me Rachel” You explain, smiling softly at the memories, trying to ignore the feeling of content and satisfaction at how easy her name rolled out of your tongue

“That’s cool.” She replies, about to say something when a bark interrupts her

“Mika! Hi! Hi baby~” You hear her coo, your smile widening

“Raeeee! Tell Mika I said hi!” You chuckled

Seeing Lily alone, humming a tune, you quickly popped out of the vent, sliced him in half before a meeting was called, Ludwig finding Toast’s body.

“Before we start. I just want to say, to the person who called me “love”... You don’t get to call me that then run away!” She exclaims

“Sorry! I got embarrassed!” You pouted. You wiggled your eyebrows at your chat, smirking slightly

“Uh-huh. Oops, Sorry Lud. Carry On” Rae says, letting Lud explain his “Different Universe” theories about how Toast died.

“OH LOOK! There’s Corpse! And Sykkuno! Hiiiiiii!” She greeted cheerily, somehow you could see the evil smile on her face

“oh- Oh. Hi Rae! We’re just shooting some space rocks here!” Sykkuno says, her green character circling Rae

“I see. I see... Babushka.” Rae states, you wait a couple of seconds letting Sykkuno and Corpse panic first, before slicing Corpse in half.

“OH JESUS! You killed Corpse! You killed him! You really kil-” He was cut off when Ash creeped behind him, biting his head off

“Thanks Ash.” You say, laughing as Rae gasped and laughed as well

“What?!” She exclaimed from her spot behind the seismic reactors

“Wait what?!” she exclaims, her scream perfectly cut when the victory sign flashes on your screen.

“THE AUDACITY! HOW DARE YOU! I- I CAN’T EVEN” She rages

“I’m on Y/N Protection Services! She’s been dying a lot lately!” Rae exclaims, you rolling your eyes at her dramatics, both of you were impostors.

“Ooooooh! I have speci, come.” Rae says, her red character slicing toast nonchalantly when you passed him doing telescope

“Uhm-”

“Shh.” 

And suddenly, when the decontamination doors open, Poki emerged from it, panicking you killed her.

“Oh shit! No! Wait! I’m sorry! Pokiii!” You whined, following Rae into decontam

Finding Janet in Speci, You go to say hi, only to be interrupted by the body being found.

“OH NO! TOAST! He was just with me! OH JESUS!” Sykkuno exclaims, making you bite your lip to avoid laughing

“Where’s the body?” Jack asks

“Medbay, by the telescope” Brooke answers

“It has to be Y/N! She’s the only one who could’ve killed Toast!” Janet accused

“Hey! What?! Why me?!” you complained, 

“You came from upper decontam! Toast’s body is in medbay, That’s sus.” Janet says, you were about to defend yourself when Rae chimed in

“There is a possibility that Y/N is the impostor.” She states

“Wha?! RAE?! You- You were with me in speci!”

“What? No I wasn’t! You’re lying! I lost you when I was doing gas! I was looking for you everywhere!” Rae says making you look at chat with a pout

“I didn’t see her there either...” Janet backed her up

“Wha?! Guys?! Come on, let’s skip! There’s barely enough evidence!” You desperately say, trying to save yourself

In the end, 7 heads voted for you.

“...Y/N will remember this.” You state before being thrown off the ship, welcomed by Poki and Toast’s laughter

“My girlfriend just betrayed me. Rae betrayed me chat, she just, she pushed me off the plank. She just, watched as I burned in the lava. She kicks me out of her bed for Mika, and now she betrays me, then pushes me off the plank. Ohhh the pain” you dramatically say as you followed Rae, her returning to specimen

“Listen, chat, Y/N if you’re listening... That was payback for that one time you killed me behind reactor right after you asked me on a date! Okay!” You rolled your eyes and looked at your camera with an annoyed look in your face

But your smile slowly returns as Rae goes on a mass massacre making you both win without meetings, making you bounce in your seat, clapping

“Good Job Rae! That was so good! You successfully scared me, I might not sleep in your room now.” You teased her, making her gasp

“Love?” Your voice rings out through Rae’s phone

“Hiii Baby! You’re on speaker” Rae states while looking at the game settings

“Oh. Well Hi chat! Anyways, Mcdonalds? I’m 5 minutes away, don’t start little nightmares yet, come on.” You whined

“Oh you big baby, I wasn’t starting without you.” Rae laughs

“Liar, I was watching your stream.” You deadpanned

“Pshh. Pshh! But yeah, Mcdonald’s fine. And hurry up! I wanna play!”

“Okay, okay sheesh, I’ll be there with your chimkin nuggies”

“Baby?” You knocked on her door, even after all the months that you have been together, you always knocked on her door before entering, incase she was doing something.

“Come in love! Perfect timing.” You open the door to see your girlfriend playing with Mika, Little Nightmares 2 plastered on the screen. You approached her and kissed her forehead

“Hi Babe. Hi chat! How are you guys doing? Hold on, let me set this down.” You say, arranging the food on Rae’s desk, careful not to spill anything

“Are we ready? Baby, grab your chair. Are we ready? Are we ready? I’m so excited!” The excitement in her eyes is making you smile

“SHE DOESN’T CARE! SHE DOESN’T CARE! PLEASE?!” 

A moment of silence pass the both of you as the character Rae’s controlling gets to safety. Rae slowly turns to meet your eyes, and bursts out laughing.

“You should’ve seen your face!” You laugh at her

“OH OKAY? Like you weren’t screaming for me to run.” She says then proceeds to repeat what you said while in a panic, making you laugh harder

“Ahm, it’s really great. A lot of hard work was put into that photoshoot, mostly because my girlfriend, Rae refused to put on the dress and was attached to the suit she’s wearing right there. God, she looks so beautiful. Uhm, but anyways, it took a lot of effort to get her out of that suit. ” You grinned

“Ahh. I recognize that look, Makes me remember about my wife and I. You’re so smitten. Can I just say that I ship you guys so hard.” The interviewer says

“Ah- Thank you. Hehe.” You say, embarrassed but proud

“While were on this topic of trending pictures, Can you guys explain whatever these pictures are? I’m pretty sure your fans already know what these are. But an explanation would be nice” The interviewer now addressed your whole group

“Well, considering that Y/N is dating Rae, Luna is dating Sykkuno and Jace is dating Imane, or Poki,  Okay, so there’s this AU that’s around their community where they are mafia’s and we’re all members now. We all joked about being apart of their mafia, to which they agreed. So now Rae and Y/N are now the assassin duo, Poki and Jace are their supervisors and Luna, Sykkuno and Corpse are the deadly trio” Sebastian explains

“Their community is so creative I swear. And combined with our fandom, the fanarts and fanfictions are the best.” Luna says, a smile present on her face

“And yes, we all do read fanfiction, in multiple platforms.” You laughed, the live audience gasping in surprise

She crawls into your side, cuddling you while groaning lightly.

“Naps and cuddles please.” she mumbles, her head buried in the crook of your neck

“Okay baby, I’ll just put AOT on, oh wait. Hmm, Jujutsu Kaisen sounds great right now. No, wait even better, Ouran Highschool Host Club.” You go to turn your head to ask Rae, but you see her asleep. 

You chuckle quietly, knowing Rae, she can overwork herself, sit on a chair for 13 hours, playing various video games, while you really can’t see yourself play videogames for 13 hours straight, you admire that she has the patience and energy to do that.

Smiling, you lower the volume of the Anime that you’re watching, slowly pull the blankets up as Rae shifts closer to you, clinging like a koala. Mika jumps up and settles in between the two of you, Your smile widens at the feel of things, the calmness, the silence, the tranquility and the sense of home, something that only Rae can provide. Something that you have been looking for ever since your career took off. The constant trips to the studio, the paparazzi, the world tours, the concerts, the interviews, everything, everything was worth it when you know you’re coming home to her. 

You didn’t even know how you got to where you are now, cuddled into Rae, the comfort streamer you never thought you would meet, even when you mostly stayed where she stayed... Dating her was a dream, you didn’t believe it at first, she quickly proved that dream theory wrong when she kissed you, under the rain. As cliché as it seems, that was the day you both silently agreed to never let go of each other and take care of each other even if the other is half way across the world.

Okay, I was wondering when this would take a turn and here we are. You came into my inbox asking me about invasive shit. You suddenly started throwing around a stranger's abuse in a way that was obviously supposed to make me feel bad for liking a third of a game. You're talking to me in a way that implies that you seem to think you have something to do with me. I'm not defensive, I'm annoyed. There's a pretty substantial difference. How were you thinking I'd react to some anonymous rando asking me about my feelings on rape, and acting like I somehow have something to do with a stranger's abuse? Was I supposed to just go "oh, sorry, I forgot that every stranger on the internet is in charge of my bodily autonomy! I will now proceed to remove this character from my mind with brain bleach!" How often do you have people asking you about this stuff? Because lemme tell you, it's weird and rude to walk up to strangers and start asking them random interview questions about a free dating sim. Are you also going up to people who like Strade and asking them about cannibalism??? Have you asked a Sano stan about whether or not they kidnap people and turn them into dolls today??? Honestly going after the tentacle demon lover should be lower on the list, considering realism.

Second of all. It isn't just your trauma to be explored. It's also mine. No one is fetishizing anything about you, because you aren't in any way involved in my relationship. You are not a participating .ember of my life. This isn't about you, and was never about you at any point. You aren't me, or Rire, or any other character in that game. You are a completely separate entity. A total stranger who for some reason latched onto my blog, despite me not talking about Rire in MONTHS. I don't need your permission to explore my trauma, any more than you need my permission to dislike this game.

Furthermore? Why do you assume I in any way keep up with ANY of the creators of this dating sim, besides maybe darqx??? I genuinely would have no particular reason to. I downloaded BTD in 2017, and honestly haven't looked at the download site since then. Frankly Rire and his route are the only part of the game and lore I care about. I don't even look at his creator's stuff that often. I would have 0 reason to ever need to look up the other artists, and obviously have not done so, because quite frankly I didn't even remember their usernames. Why in the world are you acting like I'm complicit in someone else's abuse when my ship and love for Rire have nothing to do with anything?

AND ONE MORE THING. Not here to incite discourse? Then why ARE you even here? You came to my inbox, asked me to explain myself to The Board Of Sunglasses, and then got mad that I'm being less than saintly? Fuck were you expecting, the sugar queen?
