The Pairing
Pelle x fem!reader
Word Count: 3k
Warnings: not edited because who can be bothered, midsommar type things (cult, murder, people mysteriously going missing, a weird pairing ritual that includes murder, mentions of dani's trauma, mention of incest), I tweaked the plot a bit to fit the request
Author’s Note: Helly dear I hope you enjoy this! I left it open ended because I figured it was safe to leave the reader up to what they would do. Personallllyyyy I think after trauma bonding I could be swayed into a weird marriage lol. Enjoy(?)
Requested: by anon, Hi! Since you still write for Midsommar (which makes me very happy 🥳) and I saw your requests are open... I got one. The reader is friends with the group, she's Dani's best friend, and of course Pelle has a thing for her, he always tries to make any sort of excuses to touch her. She's invited to Sweden along the rest, and she's tricked into a sort of ritual where it's "decided" that Pelle and her are to be married. When she finds out she's mad and she wants to leave. Then you decide how to end it. Like she stays? She escapes? Is she kidnapped? You choose.❤️❤️❤️ I basically just found your blog, and I read almost all your work, and I love it! You're a great writer 👏
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director/creator

“Do you remember Pelle?” Dani asked. You looked up from your phone. She was sitting on her bed, against the wall, arms wrapped around herself as she thought. Her phone had been recently discarded on the bed. You were sitting at her desk chair. You thought about Pelle, the gentle guy with the gentle smile.
“Yeah sure. He’s nice. Why?” You meant he was nice in that he was nicer than the rest of Christian’s friends. They were okay but they were guys and tended to act that way no matter who was around.
“He’s invited me to Sweden with him and the others.” You raised an eyebrow.
“They’re going to Sweden?”
“Pelle lives there,” she explained. “He’s going home and everyone else is going to visit where he lives. It’s supposed to be some kind of commune or something.” You sat up, putting your phone down.
“Are you going?” She shrugged.
“I don’t know if he wants me there. Christian, I mean. I don’t know if he just invited me to be polite.”
“You said Pelle invited you.”
“Well he seemed happy I was going but I don't really know him. I mean, he talks to you more than he talks to me.” You shrugged. You and Pelle had been friendly through the semester, simply because you go whenever Dani wants you to and Christian drags his friends around like dead weights. You narrowed your eyes at her, unsure what she was getting at.
“Do you want to go?”
“Yeah, I think so. I mean, I should get out of the house right?” You nodded.
“I think it’s a good opportunity. I mean, Sweden! That’s so cool.”
“Pelle extended the invitation to you as well,” Dani explained. You raised an eyebrow. You didn’t know the others that well and you knew Christian about as well as anyone knows their best friend's boyfriend. “You don’t have to come but I think I would be more comfortable if you were there too. I’m not sure how I’m going to react and I don’t know Christian’s friends that well and I don’t know the place and-”
“Relax Dani. When is it? I’ll check my schedule.” She grabbed her phone and started to scroll through, looking through the dates.
“We’d get there on my birthday.” You smiled a bit.
“That’s perfect. I didn’t think you should spend your birthday here anyway.” You shrugged. “I’ll go. I mean, I should probably look at how much it’ll cost and stuff but it could be fun. Right?” You didn’t deny how nice it would be to spend more time with Pelle, this time on his home turf.
“Really?” You nodded, shrugging. She smiled easily, shoulders dropping the tenseness.
“Yeah Dani. It’s for your birthday, how about that?”
-
Pelle grabbed your hiking backpack as you approached the car. The drive was supposed to be over four hours and you were all stuck in the same van, along with all your luggage. You weren’t exactly excited for the overwhelming boy aura that would come along with it.
“Thank you,” you said, gently. He nodded once, a kind smile on his face.
“Of course. I’m so glad you could come,” he expressed.
“Me too! It’s so exciting to see your home.” He shut the back of the car. Everyone else had gotten into their spots in the car. You called shotgun the second you got off the plane and you were grateful for it. Dani was squished in the back beside Christian, her window already down for some air. The sticky hot air was indicative of a nice morning turning into a nice day. You hoped this car had air conditioning. “Is there anything I should know? I’m sorry I don’t know a lot of Swedish, other than what you taught me.”
Pelle had been giving you words here and there, trying to get you to pronounce things correctly. It was kind of a lost cause but it was fun regardless.
“It’s probably going to be foreign at first. There are some things Americans aren’t exactly used to.”
“Like what?” “It’s easier for you to just see. But I assure you, you’re always safe.” He walked to the front of the car. You stood there a moment longer, unsure why you would need to worry about your safety. You pushed it out of your head, walking to the passenger seat. “Everyone buckled in?” Pelle asked, turning the car on.
There was a chorus of yeah’s, followed by a couple seat belts buckling in. You adjusted to be comfortable in your seat and prepared for the drive.
“Keep your hands, arms and feet inside at all times,” you joked. “The show is about to begin.”
-
The hike to Pelle’s home was nice, if not a bit hot. Eventually you found yourself settled into beds, backpacks finally down, feet resting. You were itching for a shower but didn’t want to ask about it. You had been showered with kindness, large slightly unnerving smiles and flower crowns. Pelle sat beside you in the grass as everyone started to explore. They found themselves in their own bubbles, the dancers and the educators. Even Dani was able to find some sort of place alongside those who were making dinner. You kept a keen eye on her, just in case.
The sun not going down tripped up your inner clock. It had to be closer to midnight than it was to midday.
“This place is beautiful,” you admitted and you meant it. The sense of disconnect from the rest of the world was somewhat jarring. You could tell how someone could enjoy a life out here. “I can’t imagine why you’d ever leave.” Pelle smiled gently. He was leaning back on the palms of his hands. You picked at the overgrown grass under your fingertips.
“It’s slightly limited,” he assured you. “I wanted to see what the rest of the world had to offer.” You shrugged.
“Then decided to come back?”
“This is my home,” he said wistfully.
“Home is where the heart is.” He nodded once. You looked back towards him, squinting in the sun. He seemed used to it, like it had no effect on him. “That was cheesy.”
“But true!” he promised. “Things are cheesy for a reason.” You laughed a bit.
“I think that's a classic,” you argued. He shook his head. “When does the sun set?”
“I thought I told you earlier that it doesn’t.” He leaned forward and gestured to the blue sky. “The midnight sun can go for days. Sometimes just a day, depending on the time of year.” You nodded, opening your mouth to ask another question when Ingemar approached the two of you.
“Good evening,” he said happily.
“It’s evening?” you scoffed. “See, this whole thing is messing with my inner clock. You got a wristwatch?” Both men shook their heads. You weren’t sure why you even asked. They probably still used the stick in ground timing method out here. Or maybe they didn’t even care and simply went about their days as thought time didn’t matter at all. You weren’t sure you could ever adjust to that.
“May I sit?” You and Pelle nodded. He sat down beside Pelle, getting comfortable on the hillside. “Are you both ready for the pairing tomorrow?” Pelle gave Ingemar a look.
“What pairing?”
“It’s silly, really. It’s part of the festival.”
“You haven’t told her?” Ingemar questioned. He laughed, making you feel left out. You weren’t sure why Pelle wanted all of this to be some sort of mystery to you. You wondered if it would lose its charm if you knew what was going to happen. But the pairing sounded somewhat sexual and you wanted to know if you were entering a sex cult or something.
“After the Attestupa tomorrow the elders make five pairings of people. It’s like…superstition. Whichever pairing seems to be best put together by the end of the festival gets to be married.” You scoffed.
“Married? Like a legit wedding?”
“As legit as we get around here. There is no paperwork or church to defy,” Ingemar explained.
“What’s the Attestupa?” you asked. You didn’t want to be insensitive to everything going on but you poked around for the sake of your sanity.
“Another thing easier seen than said,” Pelle explained.
“You are being awfully mysterious Pelle. Should I be worried?” He shook his head.
“No, not at all.”
 -
After the Attestupa you were about to leave. Dani’s panic attack, which was justified after the events you had all witnessed, caused you to jump into protective mode. It was too early in her grieving process to be seeing death at all, let alone death right in front of her. It didn’t matter what kind of processes the people here went through, she needed to leave.
It was Pelle who convinced you both to stay. He apologized, assuring you both that nothing like that would happen again soon. It was part of the world he grew up in and didn’t think he needed to protect you from something he saw as normal.
You waited for Dani’s go ahead. When she said she would stay, so did you.
Then came the pairing.
The elders gathered everyone around the table again. They had a scroll out in front of them and you stood next to Dani, teetering back and forth on the balls of your feet. Pelle assured you there would be no deaths here. This was about the rebirth of those who had just died, the children that would be had from the couples paired together. You looked around, wondering which people had been waiting for this their entire lives.
Then your name was called.
Pelle and you.
Ingemar and Connie.
Then other names you didn’t know, people that had lived here their whole lives. Your eyes were still bursting out of your head from the time they brought you and Pelle up, gave you intertwining floral headgear and showed you to one of the private cabins.
Simon was still yelling from outside about Connie, wanting to drag her away, unsure of the reason she had been chosen. Dani watched you go but couldn’t grab you. She wanted to give you a thumbs up but didn’t have the heart to, unsure if you were going to die the second you were away from her eyeline.
When you were inside the cabin you took off the flower crown. You placed it on the bed halphazerdly., turning to Pelle.
“Okay, what the fuck is this?” you questioned. “Ingemar has a crush on Connie and now they’re paired together? What is this Pelle? Please.” He approached you and you didn’t back away. You still felt safe with him, even after all the things that had happened. You truly believed he wouldn’t hurt you.
“It’s not like that, I promise.” He put his hands on your arms, trying to center you. “They pair up some of the visitors every Midsommar,” he assured you. “I had no idea it would be you and I or Connie and Ingemar. They have to pair up some outsiders to avoid any incentuous children, they aren’t doing it from any kind of ill mind.”
It felt weird. In this room, alone, when you had just been in a group housing situation. You already wanted to see Dani.
“This is weird Pelle.”
“I understand it isn’t normal. But they aren’t forcing anything on us, on you. We’ll sleep here but it would be normal, as though we were sleeping a couple feet away in the group house.”
“So we don’t have to do anything right?”
“There will be a few pair games but those are normal. Like…compatibility games. They aren’t dangerous, I assure you. Do you trust me?” You swallowed hard, meeting his eyes. You nodded slowly.
“I think so. Yes,” you promised. He nodded.
“You’re allowed to leave and see Dani and our friends. Don’t worry.”
“What about Simon and Connie?”
“I’m sure Connie and Simon will see each other again soon. There’s no need to worry about them.” You nodded.
“At least they paired me with you. They could’ve paired me with Christian and I could've drowned him in the toilet or something.” Pelle gave you a small laugh. He put his hand on your arm, softly.
“Let’s have dinner alright?” You nodded, following him out of your cabin.
-
“So it’s like a game?” Dani questioned. “Why couldn’t they put Christian and I together. Maybe then he’d finally think about marriage.”
“You don’t wanna marry that guy,” you said, shaking your head. You were sitting by the gardens together. Pelle was harvesting some food and you watched, for moral support. “Pelle says it’s like a game. Whoever is most compatible at the end gets married.”
“Legally?”
“As legal as this all is,” you said.
“Did you see that Simon left this morning? Without Connie. Hitched a ride,” Dani explained. You shook your head.
“Really?”
“Yeah. Someone took him in the car into town.” You didn't know the guy well but were surprised. They seemed really close. Engaged, if you remembered.
“Pelle?!” you called. He turned around, putting the shovel into the dirt.
“Yes?”
“Did you hear Simon left?” He shook his head and walked over. He was sweating from the sun. His white baggy shirt clung to his chest. You were grateful again that you were paired with him out of anyone, the slight crush growing with the coincidence.
“I didn’t. Who told you this?”
“Ingemar,” Dani explained. “When Connie went looking. Do you think Christian would do something like that?” You wanted to scoff and answer honestly. Instead you met Pelle’s gaze and shook your head, lying.
“I’m sure he wouldn’t.” Pelle extended a hand.
“Would you like to help me?”
“Looks like hard labor.”
“I promise I’ll make it easier. Come.” You reached out and let him help you stand. You glanced back at Dani, who smiled, squinting under the sun.
“You guys are cute. Sure to win best pair.” You rolled your eyes.
“You get to be the maid of honor.”
“The may queen traditionally get’s that spot,” Pelle explained. You raised your eyebrows to her.
“Better get your dancing feet ready.”
-
“Have you seen Josh?” Dani questioned. She stood in front of your cabin door, concern lacing her voice. You rubbed your eyes. Pelle had let you sleep in a bit, allowing you to skip breakfast and bringing some back. You shook your head.
“No. Not since yesterday. Why?” Her jaw set.
“I can’t find him.”
“Isn’t the May Queen thing today? I doubt he’d miss that,” you offered. “Plus, I have a compatibility thing today too.” Dani nodded tightly. You were right. Josh would show up eventually.
“Can you ask Pelle if he’s seen him?”
“Yeah of course. You okay?” She nodded but she had that melancholy look on her face that was hard to read. You weren’t sure if she was just putting up a front or if she was at all settled. You wanted to ask her more questions but she turned slowly and walked towards the main part of the commune. You squinted in the sun. Pelle passed her while he was walking back from wherever he had gone.
“Are you ready?” he questioned. You nodded a bit.
“Thanks for letting me sleep in.”
“Of course. I want you rested.”
“So what do we have to do? Is it like a sack race or something? Who knows each other better? Quick, what’s your favorite color?” He chuckled. He looked down, intertwining your fingers. You let him, though you were suspicious.
“A tad more serious than that.”
“Pelle…”
“You’ll be fine. I promise.” He was determined to win this one. He had never been chosen for a pairing before but he had seen it happen. The pairs were sent out on the cliff and had to be the last two standing after a scuffle of pushing and shoving.
Ingemar and Connie were removed, after Connie mysteriously disappeared after causing too much commotion. There were only two more couples.
Neither were as strong or connected as you and Pelle.
He just wondered how he would get you up the mountain. Once you were there he had no doubt he could convince you to push for your own self preservation, along with his.
As Dani took a drink of the special tea before the May Queen dance, you drank some offered by Pelle as you started up the mountain.

Dearest Anon,
I tried to answer this in the original ask box but apparently not only can they not be edited in drafts, they also cannot be edited once posted. This came out more as a drabble than anything else. I hope you like it, and I'm desperately sorry for the long wait.
Sinsiriusly,
Hero

He could practically already hear her before he even picked up the phone, and to be perfectly honest, he was beyond not in the mood. Still, Rafael hadn’t spoken to his mother in weeks. Better to answer now and get it over with rather than not answer and run the risk of irritating her even more.
   “Hello?”
   “¿Rafael, cómo vas a aparecer en un programa sin el pelo peinado?”
   “Mami, what are you talking about?” he asked incredulously. “Do you have any idea how long I spend on my hair? Too much time.”
   “Bueno, Rafa, I don’t know what to tell you porque the angle wasn’t the best, pero parecía como una escoba. The light was behind you though, parecía un ángel.”
   He rolled his eyes at the blatant exaggeration that was quickly followed by a compliment that she regularly employed.
   “If you knew you were going to be on TV, why didn't you dress nicer?” she asked. “You know how many women watch this show?”
   “Mami, I’m a bit busy right now. I promise, I will call you later, but we’re sort of dealing with a crisis at the —”
   “Niño, pero, why do you think I’m calling?!” she asked.
   He let out a silent sigh as his eyes closed.
   “Rafi. Rafi.”
   “Yes, I’m here, Mami,” he replied.
   “Why didn’t Benson do anything?”
   “Mami,” he said with a little more bite than he meant to use. Taking a breath, he said, “Listen to me, those producers, Jeffrey and Regina Prince, they’re lying. Not just that, they’re setting up their producer to take the fall when they were the ones who tried to cover this whole thing up.”
   “No me diga,” she replied. “Aye la pobrecita Melanie. She seems like a nice girl. Her mother must be so worried.”
   “We’re doing everything we can for Melanie, Mami, I promise.”
   “I know you are, mijo. I’m very proud of you, Rafi,” she replied. “Pero if you’re ever going to be on another reality show again, por favor, make sure that at least your tie is on straight.”
Translations
¿Rafael, cómo vas a aparecer en un programa sin el pelo peinado? - Rafael, how are you going to appear on a program without your hair brushed?
pero parecía como una escoba - it looked like a broom
parecía un ángel - you looked like an angel
No me diga - you don’t say
Aye la pobrecita Melanie - Oh poor Melanie

Chapter One: As We Are
Ulysses Klaue sat at his desk with a heavy sigh. In front of him, numbers flick across computer monitors and downstairs beyond the glass of the office, the crew of the Churchill can be heard bustling about.
Klaue’s cell rings. With an annoyed groan he digs it out of his pocket and answers it. It’s just a standard business call. When he’s done, he tosses it down onto the desk. He takes a candy from the pewter dish nearby and pops the sweet into his mouth when he hears the phone ring again.
He furrows his brow. The source of the ring is not the satellite phone nor the one he just tossed down.
Klaue pats himself down and searches his pockets.
He retrieves another cell.
It’s a bit nicer than the other, but still a brick because he’s clumsy and glass screens wouldn’t survive the conditions of the Churchill very well.
The notification screen shows new messages: image attachments.
A grin spreads across his face when he eyes the number of the sender.
Klaue leans back in his chair and props his feet up on his desk. He opens up the messages and lets out a long whistle.
Some very sultry images materialize; a woman with a fluffy robe draped across her figure only allowing a peek at some lingerie and leaving the rest to the imagination. There’s other images as well; a couple of flirtatious selfies and a couple of her in different outfits. He licks his lips looking at them, thinking about what could be waiting on the other end of the phone. He’s so focused on the pictures he doesn’t notice anyone else enter his office.
“Boss.”
Klaue quickly backs out of the message thread and his phone jumps out of his hand at being startled as he sits up. It fumbles in his hands for a bit before he manages to catch the damn thing. “What?” Klaue snaps looking to his right hand man who just rudely interrupted him.
“Sorry,” his mercenary replies. “But the plane is ready.”
Klaue grins as he stands. “What are we still doing here, then? Let’s go.”
Tumblr media
You roll over in bed and pull the blanket close around you. Your fingers fidget with the edge of the covers. There’s a stuffed bear beside you that you pull close to your chest. You switch to running your fingers through its fluffy exterior before you cave and check your phone for what feels like the millionth time since you sent the photos almost two days ago.
Nothing.
It wasn’t like Klaue to ignore you. Maybe he was just really busy or maybe something happened. Something bad? Maybe..
“Nope,” you say as you sit up. “Can’t think like that. He’ll answer soon.”
He’ll answer soon.
You had been telling yourself that more times than you could count, but with no word from him, every day made you feel further away from him than the last.
You throw on some cozy pajamas and navigate your way through your luxury city view apartment to the kitchen. Armed with a spoon and a bowl, you serve yourself some cereal. You go over to your cereal dispenser and watch the sugary fruit shapes spill out into your bowl.
You and Ulysses Klaue had an arrangement like all the other men before him, but one by one you found yourself turning away all the other the more time you spent with Ulysses.
What started as just great sex and being showered with gifts, turned into you developing feelings that you were trying to keep from surfacing.
The money was great, the clothes were designer, the jewels were dazzling, but there was one day that he left you with your gifts and you realized that the thing you truly wanted had already walked out the door.
Ulysses Klaue wasn’t just another one of your flings. The two of you made memories together, memories you now cherished. He made you realize that a life with someone could exist...and you wanted yours to exist with him.
“Shit,” you say as you see the cereal overflowing from the bowl. You shut the dispenser and clean up the pieces with a sigh.
After you add milk to the bowl, you seat yourself on your plush white couch and turn on the TV. You try to steer your mind from Ulysses or “Uri” as you had taken to calling him.
“Uri?” Klaue asked from where he rested his head in your lap. “Uly would make more sense wouldn’t it? Wait, never mind, I don’t like the sound of it.”
“Uri is close enough,” you said as you stroke his face. “It means “My light or my flame”.”
“Really?” he said. “I’ll take that one then.”
He puts his hand behind your head and pulls you close to kiss you.
You check your phone again and still nothing. An ache settles into the pit of your stomach as intrusive thoughts invade your mind. You know what he does and it scares you. An arms dealer and during these times? The world had seen the likes of all sorts of beings from space and beyond. Who was to know what was to come?
The television is on a news channel discussing the unimaginable things Earth has seen since the inception of the Avengers. You change the channel.
Admitting the feelings to yourself made everything worse. You knew you loved him and knew that any day could be the last you hear from him and that scared you, terrified you. All you want is to run away with Ulysses, to start over, to just have each other.
A talk show plays discussing the whole aliens from the sky. You change the channel again.
“Tonight it’s “Gods Among Us”. Where do they-”. Click.
“Captain America’s time in ice. Exclusive look into what really happened-” Click.
”Superhumans, are there any more out there, Tom?” “We saw this Winter Soldier come out of the woodwork, who’s to say-” Click.
“The US government is still looking into the acquisition of Stark Industries. Many officials still believe he is the root of nearly 80% of Earth’s recent disasters.” “Of course he is! Look at his track record: this Whiplash character, the Mandarin terrorist, and his crew of freaks who brought aliens. It all leads back to him!” “But some of these threats were existing regardless of Stark’s involvement. I can sleep better knowing we have someone like Dr. Banner-” Click click.
A woman speak over a video of the Earth from space, rotating in the black of space. “Who know what else there is...we used to think we knew where we fit into the grand scheme, but now...it’s anyone’s game.”
CLICK.
Your phone pings and you quickly set down your bowl on the coffee table and open the message. It’s from Klaue.
Your heart swells as you read it and you find yourself smiling. He’s texted you the details of when he’ll arrive in your city. Then your phone rings. A selfie of the two of you pops up on your screen along with “Uri” as the contact name. You answer.
“Uri?” you say trying to mask your excitement.
“Missing me, sweetheart?” he says with a chuckle.
“Always” you reply, your face blushing.
"Me too,” he says.
There’s the faint sound of people bustling about in the background and you hear Klaue giving orders to someone.
“Sweetheart?” he says.
“I’m still here,” you reply.
“Should make it to you before sundown tomorrow,” he says. “Think you can wait that long?”
You bite your lip. “I’ll do my best.”
“See you soon.”
He hangs up.
You squeal and leap off the couch. You do a little victory dance before realizing that you have so much to do before he arrives.
Being paid for your time and company, you never really went out of your way to do much for your suitors, but Ulysses was different. You surprised him with clothes picked out just for him, lit candles with his favorite scents, cooked his favorite meals even if it took you a few tries to learn. You had started to find yourself wanting to make him happy, wanting to please him. You ended up forgetting about looking forward to whatever lavish gifts he was bringing and instead began to focus on just making him happy.
You get as much prepped as you are able before you decide it’s time to hit the hay. You can’t let the manic cleaning and preparing get to you, you need to rest.
You don’t sleep right away; you scroll through the pictures you’ve taken of you and Klaue; some very playful and silly selfies, a picture of Klaue after you shoved an ice cream in his face leaving a bit on his nose, and one he took of you with ice cream covering your entire face and him smiling.
When you do fall asleep, you phone slips from your hand.
Tumblr media
You wake up feeling very groggy. You’re not sure what time you ended up falling asleep, but you know it must have been quite late.
Why didn’t your alarm wake you?
You now make out the faint melody of your phone ringing from...somewhere.
The clock on your nightstand tells you that you’ve slept in. A lot.
“Oh shit,” you say as you try to untangle the blankets from your person.
You hear your phone ring again and try to rise from bed only to have a sheet that was still tangled around your foot trip you up. You fall a little less than gracefully to the floor, but do manage to find your phone under the bed.
Missed calls and new messages from Ulysses.
You open the messages: Landed. ETA: 1800.
You curse as you count in your head what that means in standard time.
“6:00pm.”
You look at the clock on your nightstand. 11am.
You waste no time in getting started on sprucing up your apartment. The butterflies in your stomach and pounding of your heart fuel you as you fluff up the couch pillows, light candles, and plan dinner.
2:00pm rolls around and you’re stumped between a natural makeup or a full face. You settle for something in between and carefully style your hair, ensuring each lock is in a place to your liking.
Now what to wear...
You could for something casual, an oversized sweater? Should you wear jeans? You opt for a simple snug knee length dress and some chunky Mary Jane heels; it’s comfortable, but still flirty.
You cook dinner and set it in the oven to keep it warm. You go ahead and set out some vintage wine and glasses on the coffee table and sit on the couch.
5:45pm.
You check your phone, but there’s nothing new except a few text messages from some friends.
Your nerves get to you and you go ahead and pop open the wine and pour yourself a glass. You sit back down, but get back up and start practicing how you’ll open the door.
Hand on your hip? No, too much attitude.
Should you be taking a call? Play it casual and aloof? No,no, no. Don’t want to look too busy.
One glass turns to two and then to three.
You’re in the middle of practicing your answering-the-door bit in a silk scarf draped over your elbows with your wine glass in hand when the doorbell rings.
You set down your glass and toss aside the scarf and race to the door and look through the peephole.
Ulysses Klaue stands outside your door, cleaned up in a suit minus the jacket, holding a bouquet of roses. You watch him for a moment as he glances down the hall and checks his watch. He tugs at the tie he’s wearing, his face saying it’s uncomfortable. He usually doesn’t dress up like this, but you remember hearing him say he liked doing it for you. He looks up towards the peephole and you let out a startled squeak as you step back. You compose yourself and fluff up your hair a bit. You take a calming breath and open the door.
He flashes a grin, light glinting off his gold tooth. “There you are,” he says. “Thought I had the wrong door for a minute.” He leans down to kiss you.
It takes a good amount of will power for you to not throw yourself at him, but you’ve missed so much that you can’t help it. You deepen the kiss, your mouth offering no resistance as his tongue ravishes you. His free hand grabs hold of your ass firmly, making you squeak in surprise.
He pulls away from you with a chuckle and shuts the door as you take the flowers from him. You head to the kitchen to prep them to be put into a vase. Klaue follows behind you, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt to his elbow. You stand at the counter cutting off the stems to the roses at an angle and placing them into a vase. “They’re beautiful,” you say. “Thank you.”
He presses against you from behind and pulls down on of the sleeves of your dress. “Not nearly as beautiful as you.” He kisses your shoulder, his lips searing into your skin like a brand.
“Sorry I’ve been away,” he says and places another kiss in the crook of your neck.
Your hands feel sweaty against the cool countertop as you brace yourself. You haven’t heard from him in so long and now with his voice in your ear, it has you weak. You spent many nights waiting for something from him to let you know he was okay, that he was alive, and even more nights being at the mercy of your body aching for his touch.
You can’t stop yourself from pushing your ass back against him. You feel his cock is already half hard for you and bite your lip to stifle a moan. He sighs in your ear and grabs your hips and thrusts against you, pinning you to the counter.
“Uri,” you whisper throwing your head back onto his shoulder. “Please. I missed you.”
You feel his hands run up your thighs until they hike up your dress to run across your ass. “That so?” he says groping your flesh.
“Yes,” you say turning to face him. “I did.”
You can’t wait any longer, you know you’re already soaked for him. You need him inside of you, not a toy, not your fingers, not anyone else, just him. You need him like the wanderer needs the oasis in the desert; begging for reprieve from the heat of the sun, dropping to their knees in the cool shade, and reverently holding the waters in their hands to drink.
Your hands begin to untuck his neatly pressed shirt and you undo his belt. Klaue turns you back around and bends you over the counter. You brace yourself on the marble top and feel his hands work at ripping apart your panties. Lucky for you, Klaue was just as impatient as you were.
You hear his zipper come undone and feel his thick length press against your ass. “U-Uri,” you moan pushing back against him with need.
His hand dips between your legs to tease your entrance. “Fuck, baby, you’re so wet already,” he says entering two fingers inside of you.
He gives a few pumps, curling his digits inside you, then pulls them out leaving you empty, to line his now fully erect cock up with your cunt. He slowly pushes himself inside you until he’s fully sheathed in your warmth.
You let out a loud moan at the feeling of being stretched open by him. He holds still, allowing you to adjust to his size.
“You feel so fucking good on my cock, sweetheart,” Klaue says hissing through his teeth.
His hand tangles in your hair and grabs a handful to pull your head up so that your back arches. Your cunt begs for friction and you begin to move against him. “That’s it, baby,” he says as he begins thrusting into you.
You feel your eyes nearly roll back into your head with how hard he fucks you. Your essence allowing him to glide deeper into you with ease, bottoming out with each thrust. “Yes, Uri!” you cry out. “Just like that!”
Your moans are just as loud as the snap of his hips against your ass. His hand in your hair twists to pull it a bit tighter, not enough to hurt, but just enough to ache. His other hand comes down to smack your ass, the rings on his hand making the flesh sting from the impact. You hear Klaue release a soft curse as he caresses where he spanked you. He smacks you again in the same spot and you cry out. “God, you’re fucking beautiful,” he says. “Look so fucking good taking all of me, such a good girl.”
His hand releases your hair and wraps around your front to tease around your clit. You are at the precipice of your climax, lost in the ecstasy of him filling you completely once the two of your find a rhythm; your legs tremble as your walls begin to twitch around his cock. “I’m so close, Uri,” you say pushing back against him.
“Me too. But ladies first,” he purrs right in your ear.
His fingers find your clit directly and the sensation is almost too much, so much so that you start to shake, but Klaue grips your shoulder with his other hand to keep you in place while he fucks you and touches you. “You can take it, baby,” he purrs. “Come for me.”
Jolts of pleasure rock through your body and you’re pushed over the edge. Your walls clench tightly around him and your hear him moan in pleasure as he helps you ride through your orgasm. You feel your essence running down your leg and hear the wet slaps of Klaue still fucking you. “That’s my girl,” he says. “Now it’s my turn.”
He places his hand on your neck and guides you to straighten up as he fucks you. His hand trails up further to cradle your jaw and he turns your face toward him. “Let me hear you,” he says. “Where do you want me?”
“Please, Daddy. Please come inside me,” you plead.
Klaue grins as he lets your face go and picks up the pace. Your hips are sure to be sore from how hard he’s pushing you against the counter. He gives one last thrust with a shout and you feel him spill into you. Without removing his cock, Klaue leans over and kisses your shoulder before resting his forehead on you. “Good girl,” he says out of breath.
He pulls out and you can feel your slick mixed with his spend dripping out of you. He steps back and watches it for a moment. “So fucking beautiful,” he says using his fingers to stuff it back inside you. “Hold onto that for me, sweetheart.”
The two of you clean up and you run a bath for the both of you. Klaue leans back against the edge of the tub while you straddle him. You trace your fingers over his tattoos. “You were gone awhile this time,” you say softly following the tendrils on his chest with your index finger.
He sighs tiredly as if the reminder of business was exhausting on its own. “Lot of traveling,” he said. “Had to stay awhile in Singapore before going back to the coast.”
“Singapore,” you say. “One of these days you should take me traveling.”
He grins and kisses you. “Oh yeah?” he says. “Where do you want to go?”
“Hmm...Monaco.”
“I’ve been there a few times,” he says. “Like the beach there.”
“I’d like to see the beach there,” you say playfully while running your hands along his chest.
“How about I take you out on a yacht instead?” he says.
There’s a playfulness in his eyes, a bright lust for life that swallows you whole and holds you there.
“I’d like that,” you say softly before kissing him.
After the bath, Klaue relaxes in the living room while you prepare dinner. He’s turned on the flat screen to a soccer game. You hear him shout and cheer at the players on the screen.
No one else who has ever been in sort of relationship with you has ever received this treatment in your home. It was cut and dry; you fuck them, they pay you, and then they leave.
But for Klaue, you liked having him around, liked actually spending time with him.
Did he feel the same about you? Of this you weren’t sure.
The two of you sit at the table eating the food you’ve made: Japanese style curry and rice. You learned that Klaue’s palate was just as adventurous as he was. There was hardly a food he shied away from. You admired his courage and eclectic tastes. He takes your hand, kisses it, and thanks you for the meal. You smile watching him eat with gusto. “Getting too tired of eating shit while I’m gone,” he says taking another large bite.
“Good thing you have me to take care of you,” you say.
“I count myself very lucky then,” he says with a smile.
After dinner, the two of you lay on a huge oversized pillow you have set up by a window that overlooks the city. It’s night so the lights from the buildings cast a soft glow into the room. There’s a couple of end tables with candles that also offer light and some drinks and snacks you’ve set out. You rest on Klaue’s chest, fingers dancing in the soft curls on his chest while he tells you stories about his adventures since you last saw him. It’s only the good things, nothing gruesome because you learned he doesn’t want to frighten you. Little does he know you crave to know everything about him, the good, the bad, and even the things he himself doesn’t know.
You listen to him, your attention fixated how every word rolls off beautifully with his accent.
“Pangolins?” you ask.
“Little armored creatures that roll into a ball and walk on two legs with their front paws together,” he explains. “Funny little things.”
“And you said they’re endangered?” you ask.
“Parts of the world use their scales for medicine,” he says. “Still some in the wild though.”
“That’s sad,” you say sitting up and reaching for some grapes you’ve set aside. “Oh, that reminds me!” you exclaim as you feed him a few grapes. “I saw that documentary you recommended.”
“Oh yeah?” he asks.
“Yeah!” you say popping a grape into your mouth. “Those things are weird! With their eyes and how they change colors!”
He lets out a belly laugh and you laugh, too. He pulls you to him and kisses you deeply. “I’m gonna miss you while I’m out tomorrow,” he says.
You sit up a bit looking confused, but trying not to let it show. “You’re leaving already?” you ask.
He props himself up and reaches for his drink on the table and takes a swig. “Just for a bit,” he explains. “Got something I need to take care of while I’m here. I’ll come right back though and take you out. How’s that sound?”
“I’d like that,” you say kissing him.
His hand cradles the back of your head, holding you steady as he deepens the kiss. He tastes like the spices, the grapes you fed him, and the liquor he’s been drinking. It’s a mix you want ingrained into your memory, a taste you’ll never tire of.
He pulls away from you and your eyes meet. He looks at you like he knows there’s something on your mind.
You really don’t know if he’d stay, if he could belong to you. His business aside, Ulysses Klaue is wordly man; money, jewels, fast cars, planes, the rarest of finds, adventure, he wants everything, wants to be everywhere, and more. It’s what you love most about him. He’d steal the stars if he could.
You break away from his gaze and kiss his cheek as you palm him through the fabric of his pants. He smirks and guides your hand past the hem. He lets out a soft sigh when you touch him. You work your hand on his cock for a bit, stroking it and gliding your thumb around the tip until it’s weeping. You slide further down the pillow and pull down his pants and boxers so that his length is fully exposed to you.
You adjust yourself on your knees and take him into your mouth. You relish the sound of his moan and look up to see him relaxed against the pillow. His hand comes up to rest on the back of your head and gently grasps your hair to guide your head up and down on his length. “I love how you look with my cock in your mouth, sweetheart,” he says looking down at you.
This drives you to take him deeper into your mouth making him inhale sharply. “Fuck, baby,” he whispers, his hips twitching to thrust into your mouth.
You slowly work your way further down his length until you have all of him in your mouth. Tears prick at your eyes as you feel him hit the back of your throat. You use one of your free hands to fondle the rest of his bulge and his grip on your hair tightens. You pick up the pace, bracing yourself on his thigh with your other free hand. You don't shy from making a sloppy mess on his length.
You feel his cock twitch telling you he’s close and proceed to hollow out your cheeks as you suck. He grunts as he comes into your mouth, his thick ropes coating your throat. You swallow his spend with him still in your mouth before sitting back on your knees to catch your breath.
Klaue adjusts himself back into his pants and sits up. He leans forward, places his hand under your chin, and tilts your head up to look him in the eyes.
You know you must be a sight; smeared make-up, glossy eyes with tear trails down your cheeks, lips swollen, drool and his spend at the corner of your mouth, and breathing hard, but he kisses your forehead. It comforts you that he likes you this way. Any other man would walk away, leave you to clean up, but Ulysses looks at you, really looks at you, and suddenly you’re ice cream on a hot summer day, melting under his gaze.
You can’t quit him, can’t get him out of your head. Your heart, your mind, and your body will always come back to him, like tides lusting for the moon.
He cradles your face in his hands and his thumbs wipe the corner of your eyes. “Sorry ‘bout the makeup, sweetheart,” he says with a chuckle.
Your hand finds his on your cheek. “This is the only acceptable way that you’re allowed to ruin my makeup,” you say smiling at him.
You enter your bedroom and see Klaue sitting on the edge of the bed removing his jewelry and setting it on the nightstand. You clamber behind him and begin massaging his shoulders. He lets out a content sigh as he relaxes. You eye the brand on his neck and your fingers ghost over it. You don’t know where it came from, but you know it’s not something he chose to have.
“Ulysses,” you say.
“Hm?”
“Do you ever...think there’s an end to what you do?” you ask tentatively.
“An end?” He chuckles. “Sweetheart, the day I stop is the day I’m dead. I’m good at what I do.”
“Well, I guess like, retirement, then,” you say moving back from him to lay down.
He shrugs and lays next to you. “Possibly. Probably spend my days out on an island somewhere,” he says. “Why?”
Because I want to go with you. Because I love you.
“Just curious,” you say snuggling close to him.
He sleeps without a shirt and you welcome the skin on skin contact. His arm cradles you to him as you lay on his chest.
He falls asleep first and you sit up a bit to admire him. The curls on his head rest to the side of his face and show off his jaw framed by his beard.
Your hand brushes across his biceps and then over to his chest. Scars pepper his skin and there’s a few new cuts and bruises that you now notice.
You run your fingers over the bumps, there’s ones that look like they’ve opened and had to heal multiple times over. You kiss his scars and fall asleep beside him.
When you wake up, you’re alone, your arm resting over a pillow where Klaue should be and that feeling comes back again, the feeling of being in love and being helpless to it.
You look out the window, the morning sun casting an orange glow on the city and daydream about a life when you can wake up next to Ulysses Klaue and not see an empty space.

Day 14 - Jan 14 - Salzburg
Oh dear god lmao
Some girl checked in to stay in the bed below me at midnight and she was making so much noise.. I woke up at 4am obviously and I think I did a stinking good job at being quiet. Although on the train I realized I forgot my underwear that I washed and left to dry on the bed. Oh well, it was an old shein pair.
I remembered in the early of the morning that I needed to remove the sheets which was a whole process - THAT was what was so loud when that girl checked in, freaking crazy
Anyways, I started walking at 4:30am to the Neubegasse U station and I almost panicked bc I thought it was closed for construction.
Anyways, I eventually found it and then I got to the Wien Westbanf train station and took the train no problem to Salzburg. It wasn’t super comfortable but I fell asleep for an hour or so and got to Salzburg on time!! I walked to the hostel and put my stuff in the locker. The hostel had free coffee so I had some and charged my phone. I realized I had time to walk around a bit so I walked around the east side of the old town area and ended next to Mirabell Palace where The Sound of Music tour stop was.
The tour bus was fairly full (mostly Australians, some English, and just a handful of Californians lmao) but I sat at the front so I could be closer to the tour guide, who I initially thought was fun but she ended up giving me a weird vibe.
We started driving around the city and then went to the palace hotel where the lake scenes and back of the house was filmed. It was a BEAUTIFUL sunny day, everything was perfect. She told us a bunch of great fun facts about the movie and how it compared to the actual Von Trapp family story, which I knew some of bc I read the wiki page the night before lol.
Our second stop was the -insert- palace where the bodega from “16 going on 17” was and the yellow long wall is from the song “I am Confident” also very pretty
Our third stop was this viewpoint in Mondsee that was LITERALLY ONE OF THE MOST GORGEOUS VIEWS IVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I’m soooo grateful it was sunny!!!
After that we drove into the town bc that’s where the church where they filmed the wedding ceremony was and it’s so interesting how editing makes a place look soo different. This church is PINK! It looks so dark and emo in the movie. The town is cute and I bought a goat HAHAA
I tried apfelstrudel too but they served it cold so I was like meh it’s aight. People seemed to give me a really cold shoulder for traveling solo for some reason.
When we got on the bus tho some Australian asked the tour guide if the nuns actually sabotaged the Germans cars and like of course not lady they didn’t even run away from the Germans like that, that part is entirely made up. Except the guide said it in a nicer way and then the lady responded “Yeea naur yea naur ok” HAHA Australians are so funny I was dying
Anyways; after that we watched this doc that Liesl the oldest sister filmed a while back revisiting Salzburg and Mondsee.
The tour was just absolutely everything. It was amazing and I cried.
After we got back to town, our last stop was the Mirabell Palace and Gardens where they filmed Do Re Mi except in the winter it looks quite depressing bc the flowers aren’t in bloom, its not very green, and it’s blocked off. Sad. So I just rushed to old town to see the museums and fortress before everything closed. The town was bustling which was very cool. I started with the Mozart House and it was interesting to learn about him and his family. He died super young but composed so much in his time. I didn’t realize his dad was the talent that shaped him into a prodigy and that his sister was also a super talented pianist and composer.
Afterwards, I walked up to the Salzburg Museum which was super empty and much bigger than I expected. The history was quite interesting to learn about bc music and art is such a huge part of this town, especially with Mozart being nearly synonymous with Salzburg, but the political powers have also been trying to transform the town into an economic city beyond the tourism. I remember seeing the town when I first arrived and thinking it was far more modern than I expected.
I was starving after the museum, so I ran to Billa and grabbed another Mediterranean chicken sandwich and literally SCARFED it down while hiking up to the Fortress. I probably looked like a homeless person who hadn’t eaten in days.
The hike was brutal - I was sweating, but I caught the most BEAUTIFUL sunset. I was in AWE. This whole day was incredible. Panoramic views of the city. Missed the museums though lmao. I thought it closed at 6pm but it actually closed at 5pm. Thank god I left the museum early and made it for most everything though.
After that, I just went back to the hostel, showered, and decompressed. It was only like 6pm so I was like I should be social..
so I messaged on the Hostelworld app and a girl Lana said she was down, and then I was chatting with this guy in my hostel and he also was down to come out. He ended up being kind of weird. A big of a prick if I do say so myself. Lana was super awesome though and her suite friend was also super chill - both from Australia, different parts. We ended up spending the whole night together chatting, walking from one place to the other. We didn’t stay out too late but it was like 4-5 hours together! They both had pretty cool lives
Oh- we ran into other yoho mates but they was weird
One guy who lived in Italy from El Paso, lived in Korea who was dating this girl from Guam who “looked asian but isn’t” like wtf yes she is if she looks asian. And then he kept ripping on the US and I was like ok
So we ditched them
Went to a wine bar in old town
Walked into a 50th birthday by accident
Went into another wine bar
Dog loved my cuddles
Went home
Went to sleep
Awoke remembering I forgot to book my Swiss trains and realized they’re twice the price now and cried

pose ~ pete davidson
word count: 1418
request?: yes!
“Hello!! Could you do a Pete fic where the reader is a photographer, they are doing a photoshoot and Pete keeps flirting with her throughout the photoshoot. She brushes this off and continues as normal, but after the shoot they keep running into each other and one day he asks her out on a date and she says yes. Please? Sorry if this doesn't make sense”
description: in which her flirtiest subject runs into her weeks later and decides to finally make a move
pairing: pete davidson x female!reader
warnings: swearing
masterlist (one, two)
Tumblr media
The interviewer kept trying to ask Pete questions, but he kept getting distracted by the photographer who was taking his picture for the article. She was a beautiful young woman who was so engrossed in her work that it made her ten times more attractive to Pete.
“Mr. Davidson,” the interviewer said, the annoyed edge evident in her voice.
Pete dragged his attention from the photographer, a dopey smile on his face that he knew no one could be upset at. Seeing a fantastic photograph opportunity in this, the photographer quickly snapped another shot.
“What was the question?” Pete asked.
The interviewer sighed and shook her head. “Let’s just finish the photographs and finish the interview back in my office.”
“I think we should be good on photographs, actually,” the photographer said. “I got a lot of good ones if you two want to look at them.”
“Wait, I have a great one to finish with,” Pete said.
He turned his back to the photographer and dramatically stuck his butt out. He twitched towards the camera and made a pouty face, putting his finger to his lips. The photographer giggled and took a snap of Pete’s ridiculous pose.
“(Y/N),” the interviewer snapped, “don’t take a picture, that’s unprofessional.”
“I’m not seriously sending it to be used,” (Y/N) said. “It’s just a funny picture.”
“I don’t care, delete it.”
The interviewer stood and walked back to her office, not even asking Pete to follow her. He looked back to (Y/N) to see her face was flushed and she looked a mixture of upset and angry.
“Don’t actually delete it,” Pete said. “I want to see it.”
(Y/N) brought the picture up on her camera and showed it to Pete. “It’s just the rough copy so it’s sort of lame. With the fancy magazine editing it would look really cool.”
“I think it looks great as it is,” Pete assured her. “I’d love to have a copy sent to me.”
“My boss would freak if I did.” Her eyes flicked to the door where the interviewer had just walked away. Pete could see the frustration in her eyes and guessed that this wasn’t the first time (Y/N) had been verbally berated by her.
“I’m sorry you go through that,” Pete said.
She shook her head and waved away Pete’s apology. “Don’t be. I’ve gotten used to it. Doesn’t make it any less infuriating whenever she gets angry for stupid reasons, but it happens.”
“You don’t deserve to be talked to like that, though. You seem very professional, and even that goofy picture you took of me looks incredible.”
(Y/N) smiled and shyly looked down at her camera, unsure how to respond to his compliment.
“You’re also extremely beautiful, but that’s neither here nor there in regards to photography.”
(Y/N) giggled at this.
“You should go finish the interview. Her royal bitch will be waiting for you,” she told him.
Pete didn’t want to leave. He wanted to keep talking to (Y/N), and he really wanted to ask her out on a date. In a very uncharacteristic way for Pete, he found himself too nervous to do so and instead left with a lame “See you around”. The minute he walked out the doors of the studio they had been taking pictures in, he regretted his decision, but continued to the office of the interviewer so he could finally get it done and over with.
~~~~~~
A few weeks later, the article had been published and, unsurprisingly, had blown up massively. It was one of the first interviews that Pete had done that got really deep, and he had talked about a lot of things he had never really publicly discussed before. He fans were eating it up and talking about it non-stop. Pete was happy it had gained such positive traction, but he couldn’t stop thinking about the photographer.
He was in his favorite coffee spot, waiting for his order before running off to work, when the bell over the door rang to signal someone had walked in. Pete glanced up from his phone a moment before looking back down, but then did a quick double take when he realized he recognized the woman who had just walked in.
“Hey! (Y/N)!”
(Y/N), who had also been distracted by something on her phone, looked up to see Pete approaching her. She smiled as she pulled out the one headphone she had in her hear.
“Hey Pete!” she said. “How are you?”
“I’m good, I’m good. How are you?”
“Doing great! I have a job offer with a bigger photography company than the one I was working for. I’m heading there after here actually.”
“Holy shit, that’s amazing!”
“Yeah, well I kinda have you to thank for that. They were impressed with the pictures I took for your article and reached out to offer me the job.”
“That must’ve been a saving grace from the wrath that was your boss. When I saw you had included the goofy picture I could only imagine how angry she must’ve been.”
(Y/N) smirked, the memory of her boss’ face, tomato red with anger, after seeing the silly picture taken of Pete in her “very serious” article.
“It was actually the editor’s choice,” she told him. “When I submitted the pictures I had taken, I had included that one by mistake. But the editor loved it. He said that it showcased more of your personality than just your super serious side. He was so insistent on having the picture in the article that he even threatened to take my boss’ name out of the credits if she continued to throw her hissy fit.”
Pete whistled. “That’s brutal. She must’ve loved that.”
“She practically had steam coming out of her ears for a week. She tried to punish me by having one of our other photographers follow her for her next article, but my editor just paired me up with another of our journalists who is much nicer. And now I have this job offer anyways, so there’s really no lose here for me.”
“Well I’m really happy for you. You deserve a place that’s really going to understand your talent and appreciate you for all you do.”
(Y/N) smiled warmly at Pete. She had also been thinking about him a lot since their first encounter. There had been a few times where she almost asked her boss if she know how (Y/N) could get in contact with Pete, but realized that would likely be a bad idea considering her boss basically already hated her.
The cashier called for the next person in line, which was (Y/N). As she stepped forward to place an order, Pete’s name (or rather his fake name as not to be recognized when out in public) was called. He went to collect his coffee and turned back to (Y/N), who had stepped aside to wait for her own. She was looking up at him, almost expectantly.
Before he could stop himself, Pete blurted, “Do you wanna go out some time?”
(Y/N) nearly sighed with relief when he finally said the words. She nodded quickly and took Pete’s hand in her own. She pulled a pen from her bag and wrote her number on his hand.
“Very middle school of you,” Pete teased.
“That’s what makes it so adorable,” (Y/N) responded. “Text me later, we can figure out a time and date. Preferably sometime soon if you’d like.”
“If it were up to me I’d be taking you out right now.”
(Y/N) giggled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear and looked down at her shoes. “Tempting, but I do have to go for that job interview.”
“How about after that? We can go out to celebrate you getting that super awesome job that you deserve.”
“What if I don’t get it?”
“Impossible, but if that happens then we’ll go out and get fucked up so you forget about the interview instead.”
(Y/N) chuckled. “Okay, sounds like a plan.”
Her name was called before Pete could say anything else. She grabbed her coffee and waved goodbye to Pete, calling, “See you later, Pete!” over her shoulder as she walked out the coffee shop door.
Pete had to stop himself from happy dancing in the middle of the shop in front of so many people, but inside he was already celebrating his own little win.
Sugary Sweet Apologies
Summary: You and Reid never really got along but when he saves your life, you decide to be the bigger person and thank him and hopefully start over. Unfortunately, it isn’t that easy.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Content/Warnings: light to mild angst with fluffy ending, swearing, spencer reid being an annoying bitch, brief mentions of case stuff (if you watch cm, you should be fine)
A/N: this is for @willowrose99 ‘s 1 year anniversary on tumblr writing challenge!! congrats! i literally wrote and edited this whole thing in less than one day because i got so excited, anyways i hope you enjoy!
Word Count: 1.8k
“Reid and Y/L/N, go to David Whitney’s house. He was the therapist of two of the three victims. He could have some insight into the victimology and know of any overlap between them. He has no criminal record of past aggressive behavior but we can’t rule him out as a suspect entirely,” Hotch stated.
“Hotch, you stuck me with her yesterday for the geographical profiling. Send Prentiss with her instead,” Spencer whined.
“I don’t mind going with Y/L/N. She is a great partner in the field,” Emily glared at Spencer.
“No. Reid, go with Y/L/N or be taken off this case. I’m a unit chief, not an elementary school teacher. I don’t have time for temper tantrums,” Hotch chided.
“Fine,” Spencer grumbled as you grabbed the keys to an SUV.
You don’t know what it was but ever since you started at the BAU four months ago, Spencer had never liked you which resulted in you disliking him as well. Everyone else on the team was super friendly and welcoming but Reid always was jabbing snarky remarks your way like “I don’t have time to explain it to you” or “This was in the FBI handbook. God, you need more training.”
Luckily, the others were quick to defend you. Once Garcia even heard him snip at you over the phone and as soon as you all got off the elevator after the case, Reid was being dragged by his ear into Garcia’s lair with him going “ow ow ow” behind her. So, you didn’t really pay much mind to him because you could deal with one annoying know-it-all to have such an amazing job with great coworkers minus the one.
“Look, I’m not happy about this either,” you said as you climbed into the driver’s side of the SUV, “But at least I’m not being a whiny bitch about it and being rude to the other person’s face.”
“Oh wow, I’m so sorry that I hurt your feelings,” Spencer mocked.
“Fuck you, Reid,” you shook your head.
David Whitney was on edge the second you arrived and showed him your badges. He was bouncing his leg up and down, he couldn’t sit still, and he kept avoiding eye contact.
He knew way too much about the other victim that wasn’t even one of his clients but you didn’t have anything solid on him. His house seemed very neat so you doubted he kept anything incriminating here. Organized offenders usually have a secondary location. So, you decided to push his buttons a little.
“I mean blitz attacks, leaving the bodies on the side of dirt roads,” you combed through the crime scene photos, “This guy was a real coward.”
Spencer picked up on what you were trying to do and his eyes widened, he was subtly shaking his head and mouthing “no”.
“Excuse me?” David asked.
“Well, I’m just saying a real man wouldn’t cower in the bushes and blindside a woman. He must not be very strong,” you stated, “He probably can’t even get it up.”
Before you even had time to react, David pulled out a switchblade knife from inside the couch cushions and put you in a chokehold, pressing the cool metal up to your throat. You closed your eyes tightly.
“David, you don’t have to do this,” Spencer stood with his gun pointed at you both.
“This bitch insulted me,” he snarled.
“She insults me too. That doesn’t make you any less of a man,” Spencer spoke carefully, “Just put the knife down and I’ll escort you out.”
David sighed, dropping the knife to the floor and releasing you.
Spencer put David in handcuffs and walked him outside as reinforcements came running in.
“Are you okay, Y/L/N?” Hotch asked.
“Yep, a little shaken up but fine. Thank you,” you stood.
“Let’s get you to the medics,” Morgan grabbed your arm to support you as you walked over to the ambulance.
Spencer never checked on you.
-
You knew your decision in the field was a little rash and you wanted to thank Spencer for essentially saving your life.
However, there was no way in hell you could verbally get out an apology while staring at his smug face, but you could bake. You settled on a note tucked inside a tupperware container of your Grandma’s special recipe of chocolate chip cookies. It was a good peace offering, maybe even a chance to start fresh.
During your lunch break, you took the tupperware from your desk drawer and approached the break room where Reid had entered about 5 minutes ago.
“I’m just saying I could not have been more clear in my message to her that it was too dangerous but of course, Y/L/N didn’t listen cause Y/L/N is going to do whatever she feels like,” Spencer stirred his coffee.
No one had noticed you standing in the doorway yet.
“Reid, you’ve got to be nicer to her. She earned her spot here just like the rest of us,” Emily defended you.
“Did she though? How much do we really know about her? She couldn’t even tell me how many pages the FBI protocol manual was,” Spencer said.
“That’s not a normal thing people know,” Morgan retorted.
“Well, I’m just saying the team was perfectly fine before her and it would probably be better off if she left,” Reid finished.
Garcia looked up from her yogurt to see you standing there, “Oh, Y/N”.
Spencer turned around in his chair as you angrily stormed up to him.
“Here’s your cookies, asshole,” you seethed, grabbing the note from inside and crumpling it up into a little ball and tossing it into the trash.
“Y/N!” Emily called after you but you were already gone.
The whole team glared at Spencer and picked up their lunches, leaving him alone at the table.
Spencer retrieved the balled up paper from the trash, having to fish through Rossi’s week old pasta and Anderson’s half eaten tuna fish sandwich.
Dear Reid,
Thank you for saving my life, I guess. These are my Grandma’s secret recipe for chocolate chip cookies so I hope you enjoy. I think we got off on the wrong foot and I would like to start over. I think cases would be a lot less miserable for everyone if we got along.
Thanks again,
Y/L/N
Spencer, you’re such an idiot, he thought to himself.
You never came back after your lunch break ended and Derek made Spencer go tell Hotch why it’s his fault you were missing the rest of the day.
He tried to call you multiple times but they always rang out before going to voicemail.
Spencer hesitantly knocked on Penelope’s door at the end of the day.
“Is she okay?” he asked softly.
“You don’t get to ask that as the person who hurt her in the first place. Also, she told me to tell you that don’t you dare go to her apartment to ‘check on her’. I’m headed over there myself actually,” Penelope collected her things and shut off her monitors.
“Will you at least tell her I’m really sorry?” Spencer followed her to the elevator.
“Absolutely not. I’m not doing any apologizing on your behalf,” Penelope huffed as the elevators shut.
-
You came in the next morning, keeping your head down. You grabbed a pen from your cup holder and the first folder on your stack before getting to work.
You were on the second page of the file when your clean, empty tupperware was placed in front of you plus another baking dish with aluminum foil over the top.
You glanced up to see Spencer guiltily looking down at you and you returned your eyes back to the file.
“I-I made you cinnamon rolls,” Spencer broke the silence.
“Are they poisoned?” you asked, not sparing him another glance.
“No, they’re not poisoned,” he assured you.
“I’m just saying how can I trust you as you have made it very apparent you would like me off this team.”
“I didn’t mean that,” Spencer was quick to reply.
“Then why the hell did you say it, Reid?” you slammed your pen down.
You grabbed your empty coffee mug and briskly walked to the break room but unfortunately, Spencer was right behind you.
“I didn’t eat any of your cookies by the way. Not that I didn’t want to but I felt like I didn’t deserve them so I handed them out to everyone else.”
“Oh how kind, taking credit for my work,” you tried to close the door in his face.
“I told them that they were from you,” Spencer insisted.
You rolled your eyes as Spencer grabbed the coffee pot before you could get to it, pouring your mug of coffee for you.
“What do you want from me, Reid?” you asked defeatedly.
“I want you to try a cinnamon roll and let me explain.”
“Fine but only because I didn’t have breakfast yet and I want to critique your baking skills,” you huffed, walking back to your desk.
Spencer gingerly placed one of the sticky frosting-coated rolls on a napkin and pushed it towards you. You tentatively bit into it. Damn it, it was actually delicious.
“It’s okay,” you understated.
You knew Spencer hardly ever used his kitchen let alone be up baking all night. He even chose a recipe that required more time and effort because the yeast dough would have to rise for a few hours.
“That’s good. The first batch didn’t come out as great...or the second,” he smiled softly.
“Well, the floor is all yours, Reid. Please explain to me why you talk shit about me to my co-workers when I’m in the other room,” you leaned back in your chair and crossed your arms.
Spencer muttered something incoherent.
“I have to hear the apology, you know,” you said, enjoying watching him uncomfortable.
“You’re intimidating to me because you’re intelligent, beautiful, and courageous. I think I was a little jealous that my spotlight as the ‘kid’ of the BAU was coming to an end so I said some harsh, completely untrue things and I’m sincerely sorry.”
“Oh my god,” you smirked, “Hotch was right, you are an elementary school kid.”
“In what way?” he curiously asked.
“You like me like like like me. You don’t know how to talk to the girl so you pull her pigtails on the playground,” you giggled.
“I take it back. You’re a horrible profiler,” Spencer was getting up from his seat, completely flustered.
“Awww,” you were laughing at Spencer’s bright red face as he went to go to the break room to fill his coffee mug.
When he got back to his desk, a sticky note was placed front and center.
In typical elementary school fashion…
Will you go get coffee with me?
Check:
Yes
or
No
Spencer smiled before picking up his pen and checking one of the boxes, crumpling the sticky note up into a ball and throwing it over to your desk.
“Good choice. See you Saturday at 9 at the cafe down the street,” you grinned.
“It’s a date,” he smiled.
insecurities | l. juyeon
Tumblr media
🧸 pairing: idol!juyeon x (insecure) fem!reader 🧸 word count: 2.7k 🧸 genre: angst, fluffy end 🧸 tw: mentions of insecurities, doubts 🧸 a/n: sorry i forgot to post, i had a busy day and im exhausted, i hope it's gonna be enough! 🧸 requested: yes! thank you, it is very cliché but i hope this is what you had in mind! 💝
╰☆☆☆☆╮
Juyeon came home tired but happy, excited to see you again after a long day of intense practice and a show where he participated as an MC. You, on the other hand, were not as happy as he was, but you were for sure tired of something.
You couldn’t deny it, dating Juyeon had positive points, he was everything you could ask for in a man, but there were just as many negative points. He was an attractive, sweet gentleman, and it was almost impossible for him not to attract other girls, not even doing it on purpose. And it was one of your many insecurities even if you considered yourself pretty, you couldn’t help but get insecure every time he talked to someone else.
Because let’s be honest, in the Korean music industry, every single woman looks like an absolute goddess. So, when he interacts with someone, and they’re a bit too friendly, your heart pinches in pain as he gives them the smile he keeps for you and you only.
You think that they are more interesting, prettier and funnier than you, which has the ability to send your thoughts to the dark side of self-consciousness, not feeling pretty or enough next to those women. And tonight, it was hard to watch on National TV your boyfriend being extremely friendly with the other MC.
You had tried to comfort yourself that it was just a mask, that he had to look friendly and handsome on TV. However, you couldn’t help feeling disappointment and anger as he gave attentive eyes to the other MC as she explained something, his eyes falling on her lips pressed against the mic.
Juyeon walks through the main door, tossing his keys on the chest of drawers, getting rid of his jacket and shoes before joining you in the living room, happy to see that you were watching the same channel he appeared on. Eyes glued on the screen, your thumb rubbed against your lips, feeling the skin of the cuticles you scratched while watching your boyfriend feeling rough against your lips.
“Hi love,” he said as he sat next to you, pressing his lips on your cheek. You didn’t react, only emitting a slight hum as he sat comfortably.
Juyeon frowned but didn’t raise your bad mood, trying to think what was going on inside your head. Maybe you had a bad day, or you were just tired, despite scratching his head and think, he couldn’t pinpoint what had brought you in such a bad mood.
“Did you have fun?” you bitterly spat, and Juyeon’s eyes widened, surprised by your tone, the wrinkle on his forehead deepening as his brows furrowed at your attitude.
“I did. Are you mad or something?” he bluntly asked, and you sighed, taking the remote to turn the TV off, falling in an unpleasant, uncomfortable silence.
“Oh no, I’m super fine. I really enjoyed my boyfriend giving heart eyes to another girl on national TV, it was such a nice thing to watch,” you bitterly chuckled, and Juyeon’s eyes widened even more, not expecting you to pull out the jealousy card on that.
“Babe, what are you talking about? You know-”
“Please, spare me your fake confusion and lame excuses, I clearly saw what I saw. My eyes never deceive me,” you said while standing up, but Juyeon was quick to imitate you and grab your wrist to prevent you from walking away. You tried to free yourself from his grip, but he only tightened his hand around it.
“Juyeon, let me go,” you said through clenched teeth, trying to prevent the tears from escaping your eyes. Breaking down was the last thing you wanted to do in this situation.
“Not before you explain to me what this fuss is all about,” he said, irritation replacing confusion in his eyes. You let out a mocking scoff, your eyes filled with anger and disdain boring into your boyfriend’s, holding eye contact for a few seconds.
“You really think I’m this dumb? I clearly saw the eyes you gave to the other MC when you were both animating the show. Cracking jokes, giving her smiles that could outshine the sun, your eyes ogling her lips when she was talking or smiling. Did you really think I wouldn’t catch that?” you raised your voice, letting anger take over your body.
“I never did all of that, I don’t know what you are insinuating,” he spat, trying not to show it, but your words hurt him, hating the fact that you could imagine him cheat on you or fancy another girl.
“Go on social media then, you will see what I am ‘insinuating’! Everyone is already talking about how whipped you are and how cute of a couple you would look together. Some fans are even starting to make edits!” you shouted, shoving your phone in your hoodie’s front pocket.
Juyeon sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose to calm his nerves a bit, a gesture that had the ability to enrage you even more. Your family used to do that when they found you annoying or wanted to belittle you, and now seeing Juyeon doing the exact same thing as them really made you even more insecure about this whole situation. Your family made you feel like a real burden during your childhood and teen years that it hurt you to think that Juyeon was probably agreeing with that thought right now.
“Y/N, I don’t know what you are talking about. I was just trying to be nice, I can’t be rude or it’s mine and the group’s reputation that I’ll take down with me-”
“No it’s okay, no need to explain yourself, the message was very clear,” you said, and you finally freed yourself from his grip, your heart breaking as Juyeon sighed in annoyance again, seeing him almost roll his eyes.
“It’s not what I meant, and you know it. Don’t react like that, please,” he started, but you waved your hand in front of you.
“No, no, I got it, you-”
“Y/N, for the love of God, stop being so fucking insecure, it’s getting so fucking annoying at this point! I can’t do anything without you getting fucking doubtful, start having faith in me and in this relationship, dammit!” your eyes widened as Juyeon eventually snapped, his mouth slowly closing as he stared at you, realisation hitting him that his words and tone made a lot of damage once he saw the tears gather in your eyes and roll down your cheeks.
The couch separated the two of you, creating the illusion of a painful wall that made you shiver, feeling like your apartment had lost all of its warmth on the spur of the moment. His words were brutal, and they bounced around your skull, your head turning towards the corridor to swallow the lump forming in your throat, trying not to break down in front of him.
“Y/N, I’m-”
“Leave me alone,” you replied, voice wavering as you walked out of the living room, slamming the bedroom door shut before locking it.
Juyeon sighed and carded his hands through his dark locks, closing his eyes as he thought of the words that had escaped his mouth too quickly. He cursed under his breath as the living room fell into a deafening silence, his hands linked at the back of his neck as he thought of what just happened.
“Why did I say that,” he muttered under his breath and collapsed on the couch, unlocking his phone and scrolling on social media to try and momentarily forget your beautiful face painted with a hurtful expression because of him, but it was to no avail.
He saw what you saw; the fiction, the edits, the collages, he saw and read everything. He already hated seeing you cry and being hurt, but he actually loathed himself for being such an idiot and not comfort you about the whole situation with what was happening on every social platform.
His heart shattered in millions of pieces as he pictured you crying in your shared bed, holding the stuffed animal he got you for your anniversary tight against your chest, letting you drown in your insecurities and intrusive thoughts. He loved you very much, but despite him trying to remind you every single day, your intrusive thoughts always managed to get the upper hand when you found yourself hanging out on your own or with some friends. It was as if your brain shut out everyone who tried to reassure you or make you feel better, letting you drown and struggle in your sorrow.
Yes, the other idols were pretty, but they were nothing compared to you. Juyeon had only eyes for you and cared about you and, of course, his members, but never had he thought about leaving you for someone else. His intentions were just to sound and appear nice and welcoming on TV because he knew that some fans, antis and media wouldn’t hesitate a second to bash him on different platforms and articles for his rudeness and insensitivity towards his idol colleague. And not only would he break his reputation, but also the group’s, and that’s the last thing he wanted.
However, he also understood that it was something hard to watch for you, even if he reminded you every single day that you were the only one that mattered in his eyes.
Sitting on the couch, he started reflecting, putting himself in your shoes for a second. How would he have reacted if he saw you being super friendly and affectionate to another man? Someone more handsome, nicer than him, cracking jokes here and there to see you smile and laugh.
He tossed his phone on the couch space next to him, where he wished you were instead of crying yourself in your shared bed, watching the device bounce, collide with the armrest and fall on the ground. He didn’t even fret checking if the screen cracked, head too high in his thoughts to bother.
Resting his elbows on his knees, he pressed his joined hands against his mouth, tongue poking his inner cheek as he realised he had really messed everything up. His knee started bouncing at the disgusting thought of losing you, perfectly knowing that he had to do something before you could slip through his hand like grains of sand.
Juyeon stood up and knocked on the bedroom door, softly calling for your name.
“Y/N?” he asked, and you didn’t respond, faintly hearing you cry on the other side of the wall. “Go away, please,” your strained voice barely making it to his ears, his fingers drumming against the surface of the door in frustration.
From your side of the bed, still holding that teddy bear close to your chest, you let your tears damp the top of its head, feeling the exhaustion of crying kicking in. Juyeon didn’t knock another time, trying not to push your buttons too much to save his chances to talk to you.
You heard a small thud on the lower part of the door, frowning as you wondered what it was. Deep breathings filled in the silence lingering in the corridor, selfishly feeling a bit relieved that you weren’t the only one hurt in this situation. Juyeon was a smart, tolerant man, he knew when to put his pride aside and not blame you for something you said or did. Well, it’s not the case for this time, and it’s probably exhaustion that spoke for him, and that, of course, doesn’t excuse anything, but he wanted to apologise and make up for everything.
“I know you probably don’t want to see me or hear my voice after what I’ve told you, but I really want to apologise for what I’ve said,” you held your breath to hear his faint, low voice on the other side of the door. You sat up and felt dizzy for a quick second, still holding the teddy bear against your chest, your face buried in its head as you let the tears keep rolling on your cheeks.
“I know it’s hard to date me, and I’m really sorry, I wish we had a simpler life, where we could hang out and go on dates like two normal people. It’s also hard for me to not be the type of boyfriend everyone wishes to have, but I’m so damn grateful to call you mine.” Juyeon marked a pause and ruffled his hair, pushing the front pieces away from his hair while thinking of his following words.
“I… you don’t know how much I’m sorry for using your insecurities against you. I shouldn’t have, it was the dumbest move I could ever do, but I just didn’t know what to answer. You are so pretty, so beautiful, amazing, and absolutely wonderful to have around to me, so seeing you this insecure makes me mad every time you compare yourself to someone you think looks prettier, thinner, or more perfect than you. It’s... really frustrating because I try my best to make you feel like a goddess and worth it every day, but those unrealistic society standards and god damn social media make you feel like you are not worth an ounce of love,” he took in a big breath and raised his knees upwards, letting his forearms rest on them.
You slowly opened the door behind him and dropped the teddy bear by his side, letting him know of your presence. He was quick to notice it and turn around to hug your legs tightly, your hands finding their way in his hair and started massaging his skull.
“I’m so sorry, Ju,” you faintly whispered, and he breathed in deeply against your skin as if he finally found you again after being separated from you for years.
He grabbed your cherished stuffed animal and stood up, holding it against your chest with a tender smile. He sat you down on the bed and gave you a proper hug, mouth pressing loving kisses on your forehead and temple as his hand caressed the back of your head, holding you as close to him as possible.
“I’m so sorry Y/N, I really am. I love you so, so much, I’m really sorry for all the stupid words I’ve thrown at you,” he said, and you shook your head, squeezing your arms around his middle tightly as an answer.
“I guess I have to accept that you have eyes only for me. But you know, it’s hard to acknowledge it and believe it when you find everyone around you ten times more beautiful than you are,” you mumbled against his chest as you sat on his lap, and he nodded, feeling a lump rising in his throat.
“I know Y/N, I know. I wish I could rid you of those insecurities, my heart breaks each time I see you so unsure of yourself. You're just so beautiful and amazing, it honestly kills me to see you like this,” he whispered, and you bitterly chuckled, gently pulling away to look at him with pearly eyes, his arms around you holding you still tight, making sure that you wouldn’t go too far from him.
“You can’t do that, but maybe you can help me soothe them by keeping loving me the way you’ve done since day one,” you mumbled, and he smiled, his eyes shining with tears just like yours.
You both cupped each other’s face and sadly smiled at the other, Juyeon feeling comforted at the sensation of your thumbs wiping the tears away from his cheeks and vice versa.
“We just need time, love, but I promise I’m going to help you realise how much you mean to me and how beautiful you are. And how much I don’t care about other girls,” he mumbled, and he gently drew your face closer to his, your lips grazing against his mouth. You closed your eyes at the proximity, feeling so much love and passion in his kiss that it was getting hard to breathe.
“I love you so much, Y/N,” Juyeon pulled away from your lips and whispered against your mouth, his hot breath mixing with yours.
“I love you too,” you smiled, burying your face in his neck, your boyfriend kissing the crown of your head while hugging you tight.
You giggled as Juyeon applied pressure on your waist, making you fall on your side on the bed. His hand gently cradled your cheek, thumb caressing your cheekbone with a soft smile on his face. You closed your eyes and pressed your forehead against his, feeling him chuckle and gently press his lips against yours.
Here's the notes for everything that would happen up until the end of the story.... as far as I had it figured out. You'll notice things are a lot less fleshed out the later things go. That's a big reason why this never got finished. the longer I tried to keep the thing running, the more I realized I never had any idea what I wanted to actually DO with this story which made it pretty hard for me to keep up. it's hard to write a story you're trying to take seriously if all you really have are jokes, it turns out.
I haven't reread any of this or edited it at all so who knows what kind of notes I might have written in between things haha
P: so as i was saying about undyne-
C: who’s undyne?
Everyone freezes. Chara just walked right up to papyrus without being noticed. Paps freaks out for a sec before he pulls sans into a huddle. Chara frowns and tries to peek around.
~Montage of papyrus’s excitement and harder puzzles, death montage
~Junior jumble: its sudoku now
Chara’s doing puzzles and sees flowey spying. They shout him over
C: HEY! still following me, loser? Don’t you have anything better to do? (but they smile)
F: somebody’s gotta make sure you don’t get killed too much out here
Flowey pops up closer to them
C: nah, I’m fine! I’ve got that reset power!
F: not for long considering how much you use it (mumbles. Rolls eyes??) (some depiction of chara dying a lot in the bg)
C: by the way…. In the ruins you were telling me to use it… care to tell me more about it since you seem to know so much?
F: I-... uh… well you already know the most of it. It just resets you back to your last SAVE point like nothing happened. Only beings with a powerful SOUL can use it, so monsters with their weak souls can’t.
Chara stops their puzzle work and sits to even the heights: Can flowers?
F: what the heck are you-... oh, no no no. I’m different.
C: so you have the power too.
F: No! I mean-, i used to before you came around. Yeah.
C: so you’ve done resets. (urging him on)
F: yep.
Chara waits a while: ...thats all you have to say?
F: yep
Travel scenes from here on out depict chara and flowey together
Gauntlet:
Flowey remarks that he doesn't remember a save point being before it. Chara goes along and gets paps’ bit. He does to activate it
C: wait this isn't for real right? U can't be srs!!!
P: yeah I am, this is hard mode!
Just show chara repeatedly spawning at the save and running back in with flowey watching them
Then cut to the end chara on the other side of it panting and exhausted, papyrus shocked but also beaming
P: wow you did it!! I'm so proud of u human! I didn’t think you would actually be able to get through it--- I mean- drat! Foiled again! I'll get u one of these times!
Papyrus runs off and Chara watches him with a look of wonder in their eyes.
F: don’t get too excited. his pride is cheap, he’s proud of everyone and every thing
Chara grumbles and marches forward: whatever. I don’t hear you saying you’re proud of me, so why do I have to listen to what you have to say
F: You know, you’re gonna have to fight him soon. Didn’t sans say so? What are you going to do then, die over and over until you give up or are you going to try to murder him just like you did with Toriel? :)
C: I am not! I’m gonna talk him out of it and go right past him like everyone else. Who knows! Maybe he won’t even fight me because he’s that cool. Even if he does, he’s probably a wimp anyways.
F: I wouldn’t be so sure! I bet you don’t stand a chance.
C: shut up! Quit following me if you’re gonna be this useless.
Paps fight
As papyrus carries their body to the shed to rest. Opens on their vision returning and they see their hands hanging toward the ground.
C: why didn’t you kill me? You’re stronger than everyone else, you could easily do it. Why dont you finish me off so everyone can leave or whatever it is you need me to do? Why did you hold back?
P: OH! YOU’RE AWAKE!
C: you held back…
P: OF COURSE i DID! I COULD NEVER KILL YOU, YOU’RE MY-- I HOPE I’M NOT BEING TOO FORWARD, BUT I LIKE TO THINK OF YOU AS MY FRIEND! AND EVEN THOUGH WE DO NEED YOUR SOUL, YOU DESERVE A FIGHTING CHANCE TO DO… WHATEVER IT IS YOU’RE TRYING TO DO.
Chara is too shocked and confused by the sentiment: I don’t… I don’t understand?
P: WHAT’S SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT A FRIEND NOT KILLING YOU? HUMANS ARE SO STRANGE ...OH! I SEE NOW! THE REASON WHY YOU CARRY YOUR KNIFE LIKE THAT. IT’S BECAUSE YOU’RE MORE AFRAID OF US MONSTERS THAN WE COULD EVER BE OF YOU!
He sets them down in the shed on the dog bed.
P: I’M SORRY, HUMAN! I WOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU MORE WARNING IF I HAD KNOWN HOW YOU FELT.
C: then… does that mean you’re going to let me go?
P: ABSOLUTELY NOT! I ALREADY CALLED UNDYNE TO MEET ME SO SHE CAN TAKE YOU! AND YOU NEED TO REST NOW AFTER ALL THAT!
C: !! I-I don’t know who Undyne is, but I can’t do that. I’m in a hurry to get out of here.
P: HMM… IF YOU’RE IN A HURRY THEN… NO, NO YOU CAN’T! WE NEED YOUR SOUL, I CAN’T JUST LET YOU LEAVE. UNDYNE’S REALLY COOL TOO, YOU’LL LIKE HER!
C: No, I have to go.
P: AGH, WELL… I SUPPOSE IF YOU CAN GET PAST ME BEFORE I CAN CATCH YOU, THERE’S NOTHING I CAN DO. BUT I WON’T GO EASY ON YOU!
Cut to chara walking toward waterfall, papyrus calling after them to come back and hang out sometime. They keep walking and mutter to themself: Sorry, but I’ll get out of here before that ever happens.
WATERFALL
They see monster kid and side eye sans as they charge in, hurriedly.
Chara keeps flowey around and asks him to read the words for him. FLowey says it’s not important at all to anything they’re doing. It’s just monster history junk that means nothing if chara’s trying to leave. Chara’s like shut up cmon help me out maybe there's clues. FLowey reads some history stuff in waterfall treating it like shit they already know
F: why do you care about all this garbage anyway?
C: I dunno, I guess it just sounds familiar. Like a story I heard a long time ago.
Chara stops suddenly and checks their phone. Flowey asks what’s up
C: i thought it rang… you didn’t hear-
The phone starts ringing. Papyrus is cheerfully on the other end and they walk and talk.
He tells them about how he heard so many horrible things about humans and the surface but chara was much nicer than he ever expected. Chara asks where he heard that and he says a flower told him. Chara covers the receiver and looks around for flowey, suspicions of him raised.
Montage w monster kid and umbrella
Chara falls from undyne’s spear attack and wakes up in the trash with flowey over them.
F: hey, wake up. I can tell you’re not dead so hurry up and get moving.
Chara’s kind of bummed: she killed me four times back there. And it wasn’t even a fight. I couldn’t talk her down or… i couldn’t even talk to her, I could barely see her.
F: what, are you giving up or something? You know she can kill you as much as she wants and you aren’t gonna die.
C: I know that! I know this is just like a game where you can keep on going but… it hurts. And it’s exhausting.
F: what will you do then? Sit here in this trash and do nothing?
C: *sigh* no. I’m just feeling down in the dumps.
They smile and get up.
As they’re walking out, they hear a click and someone to tell them to “hold it”
Mad dummys behind them and she just has a gun. Pointed directly at chara. She starts on her thing about the cousin and then blook saves the day.
Chara meets up with blook again. They go to where the snail races used to be. It’s all busted and unused
C: what’s this supposed to be…?
B: oh…. this used to be a snail farm…. And this was a race course…. For snails…. But a long time ago people started to call the races “insensitive” so we had to close them…. Sorry you can’t have any fun racing snails…
C: why was it insensitive…?
B: ...i’d… rather not talk about it………..
Timeskip
C: hey flowey! What’s up with this place and snails?
F:...i wouldnt know.
montage
After waterfall where undyne says how many souls they have
C: flowey… if they have 6 human souls, that means 6 others fell down and died here, so…
F: what?
C: i just- i mean you were the first one i met-
F: no, no, no, ive never killed anyone. You’re the only human i’ve seen since i woke up
Chara relaxes: ok. So you dont know anything about them.
F: no. i heard some things from toriel, not much. It’s too late to try asking her, but she’s seen all of them. She was there at the beginning even.
C: the beginning?
F: you know…. When humans started falling down here and monsters started killing them.
Chara goes silent in thought: wait… how… long has this been going on? How old is toriel?
F: dunno
Chara after having a rough time: it’s hard, but no matter what happens i can just keep trying. I’ll make it out of this! You believe in me right, flowey?
F: no i think you should give up.
Page/chapter ends there. Next is chara going up to fight undyne.
Open on a riff on the “long ago” cutscene that chara cuts off by saying they already know this story
Undyne screams SHUT UP!!! I’m doing my HEROIC MONOLOGUE!! Whatever, I bet you haven’t heard the part about the King and Queen’s human child who died of illness and their other son who was killed by the humans when he tried to return their body to the surface?!
C: No I think I heard that one too? Why are you telling me all this anyways??
U: because this is an UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENE!! NYAAAGGGHHHH!!!!!
Chara’s getting their ass beat and on low hp: I’ll die in a hit or two. But that’s fine because I’ll just start this over. I’ll start from… where was the last save point…
A vision of them with flowey. Their eyes go red and the flashback cuts in between shots of them running from undyne
F: I think you should give up
Ch: what… give up?? I thought you were on my side with all the telling me to keep going and-and the hanging out with me?!
F: as if you had any other choice but to keep going! We both know you don’t.
C: so you’ve just been following this whole time waiting for me to give up and die, huh?! Why, are you trying to steal my soul just like everybody else?!?
F: it doesn’t matter how hard you try, you’re going to die! And die and die and die! You can reset as much as you want, it won’t change that! So what if I am waiting for you to give up? You’re the last thing keeping monsters trapped down here. If you give up, you’ll give everyone what they want!
C: I thought you wanted to help me?! I thought you were my friend!
F: I would never be friends with a human! You’re all nothing but killing machines!
C: I haven’t killed anyone!
F: You killed Toriel! No number of resets can change what you did! You’re a horrible, disgusting human just like all the others and everyone would be happier if you were dead!
Flowey could say something about dying down here is better than their inevitable death on the surface. Their death would at least be worth something. Mean something
Chara escapes the fight, undyne collapses, and they walk away. they tell themselves they won’t give up. They don’t need help, especially not from that dumb flower. They’ll live to spite him and everyone else who tries to kill them
Chara goes in and meets alphys and overall is p meh abt it bc bad mood. Alphys helping them through the underground makes them talk to themselves about how they dont need flowey, they can do this themself. Friends are no good.
hotland is as normal. probably figure out some indication of things not right. make the game seem broken bc they arent supposed to get so far like this
Chara meets with sans at mtt resort for food reluctantly. Lets him say his piece. After he’s done threatening to kill them chara says to his face that they really don’t like him.
Need some hubbub about them having to kill asgore to get out. Theyll be like yeah I know that (somehow)... oh but I need a plan… how will i come up with a plan..
Flowey finally appears to chara again just before they get to new home and tries to talk them out of leaving. Disparaging the surface and telling them they could live happily down here. Chara says no, it’s too hard because people are constantly hunting them down and being the last soul, no ones going to stop that. He says that he’s sorry for the way he was before
Chara smiles back, and then looks away: What you said before… about.. My inevitable death on the surface…
F: that was… don’t worry about that.
C: are you afraid of it?
F: well- yeah, it’s a dangerous place. Everyone knows that.
C: I’ve died a lot more times down here than I ever did up there.
A beat
C: you go back and forth a lot between talking about how I should stay down here because it’s better… but also if I die down here… everyone gets to go free… to the horrible, awful surface.
F: uh,, did I say all that…? I may have contradicted myself a little… I guess… in the end I just wanted an excuse for you to stay around. I really don’t want you to die.
C: so you did see me as a friend after all?
F: well…you reminded me of someone who was my friend. I wish we could have been friends.
C: Do you think… If I reset back to the beginning and did this again, if I said the right things… we could have been?
F: No… You could be as nice to me or as mean to me as you want. No matter how many times you reset, some things never change.
C: ...Did you ever… have to reset because you killed someone?
F: ……….once… and then I never reset ever again. The power to reset… makes you do bad things. It’s wrong. I had to stop because i knew… I’d make someone really upset if I kept messing around.
C: well, in that case… I guess I’ll just have to get the rest of the way out of here without any resets!
Flowey smiles: I dunno, keep one or two under your belt. You’re a pretty big klutz.
C: Thanks for helping me out of here, flowey. Even if you just did it because you were begged.
Can you imagine a more paranoid flowey who is less interested in attacking you and regaining the reset ability, but is pleased af that you have the reset ability because that means you can't die, and instead he spends the entire game trying to convince you that humanity is hopeless. That there is nothing on the surface world returning to. That it's safer, down here.
he's part of the reason why things are so much harder
he's the one that starts the rumors about the dangers of teh surface world
there's a definite sense of paranoia all across the board
When they approach new home, flowey appears one last time and grabs chara by the hand, telling them not to go. They can live in the underground, they’ve made a lot of friends here. Chara says that they have to go, they’ll find a way to get out without killing asgore. Flowey says that he tried to stop them, this is as far as he’ll go. This is goodbye. They bid their farewells and chara goes along, but flowey secretly follows them, much less detectable than ever before. It’s revealed when he’s hiding with the flowers.
Chara walks up to new home, regarding it as a vaguely familiar sight. They walk down the many halls knowing exactly where to go. The monsters speak as they go through the motions. They find a cookbook in the kitchen with a page for snail pie missing. Chara mumbles about already knowing the story and that they should all shut up. They walk more quickly to stay ahead of them. Then one mentions the snail pie and chara stops dead in their tracks. No that’s not how it happened- they stop, and take back off.
They are stopped by sans in the judgement hall, glaring at him.
S: well I had a whole speech to give ya, but you look like you’re in a hurry. You’re a weird kid, but you’re fine. The king’s up ahead.
OTHER alternative: chara realizes something’s wrong and runs back to get everyone, probably threatening to kill asgore to convince them to come quickly. Sans is avoided due to the mob approaching behind them “I heard the word that you’re on your way to kill the king.” c: are you here to stop me? “Nah. But you’d better have a good plan to back yourself up, kid. King’s up ahead”
They run up to asgore, no nonsense. Some time is taken to progress things. As they leave the throne room, flowey watches from the flowers, chara looks back to confirm he’s there.
Asgore draws up the souls, the fight is about to engage, before he can smash “MERCY” chara yells: ASRIEL. Get the souls.
Everything stops. Flowey is behind them, stunned and confused. Chara turns and asks him what he’s waiting for. Hurry up and take the souls before everyone else gets here. Nearly every last monster is coming, if he can become godlike and absorb them, it will be enough strength to break the barrier.
Flowey is confused, how do they know that? Chara tells him he did it before. Doesn’t he remember? Doesn’t he remember them?
Either flowey does it and something happens, or flowey waits too long and chaos erupts which gets them killed, and then chara and flowey have to meet up and workshop.
Final fight:
He probably says some shit about frisk and how he cant lose frisk again, chara must insist that theyre not frisk. When they say their name is chara, he hesitates for only a moment. Finally, when chara’s pinned and about to seriously die…
C: you remember it now too, don’t you? It took me a while, I couldn’t remember a thing until i started hearing your name around. You’re an all powerful god now, you should be able to remember it all better than me
A: shut up.
C: would frisk want us to fight like this?! Would frisk want you to kill your own sibling?!
A: c-.... You’re… you’re really chara?
He lets them go
They reach the conclusion that frisk messed with everything and put them here with no memories so they could do something frisk could never do. Frisk thinks they deserve to live, no matter how much the two may disagree. They have to play along. Asriel is a god and can use his powers to break the barrier and bring EVERYONE back to life so they can live together happily.
go to final fight and everyones already there, things are very confused, flowey takes the souls and things glitch out (screen phases between bosses) and chara realizes this isnt how things are supposed to be, tells asriel theyre sorry for their baggage but he doesnt understand bc he isnt theirs, and then they gotta find frisk somehow
OR... they realize things in the speech and don't go to fight asgore bc theyre finding flowey... they feign fighting asgore and then suddenly tell flowey to take the souls("Asriel! get the souls!" and thats the first time they call him by name)...? i like that a bit better. they start going on about crazy shit that makes roided out flowey kind of lose it at them which leads to them apologizing to their own asriel but then realizing they need to find frisk
but HOW do they find frisk
The end shows chara asriel and frisk hugging eachother, all alive and well. Then the two are “processing…” and remember that oh, theyve done some dark messed up stuff.
Haikyuu boyfriends and how well they do as your personal photographer
Tumblr media
Bless their souls but it amazes you how they manage to look at the screen and think “yeah that’s seems alright ”
Ushijima — he genuinely thinks you look good in every pic and that’s sweet but that’s exactly where the issue is. The way he takes a pic from a angle that looks like your legs were cut in half length wise and your eyes were like a dead fish but still thinks you look gorgeous stunning beautiful meant you would not get a pretty picture from the regular public’s standard anytime sooner.
Kageyama — his idea of what “help me take a picture” means is way more simple than what you had meant for it to be. You stand there, he presses the button, that should be it. He doesn’t get why people spend so much time looking for angles, or fixing exposures. It’s a picture????? It goes “click” and that’s it right??? He spends no time looking for a nice angle or even wait for you to pose, resulting in a lot of pics that are out of focused😌
Iwaizumi — he is an “awkwardly flex and puff his chest out while locking his jaw” type of guy himself, he tries but he really has no idea what is flattering and what is not. The grid references confuses him and he gets even more tensed when you try to give him instructions. Somehow always manages to take the picture when you’re blinking or making some sort of weird faces because you felt something on your face.
Not a natural, but they’ll go the extra mile just so you can have your pretty pics for insta
Nishinoya — he goes the extreme for your pics. If you ask him to crouch down to get your best angle, you bet he is gonna get so low on the ground until his arms are near touching the concrete just to give you that long✨leg✨effect✨. If you are an awkward poser or felt uncomfortable when you pose, he’s gonna go out of his way to run around behind to camera to catch your attention so you can have the most natural posture and the best smile.
Tanaka — he belonged to the last category when he was just starting out but then he sees the way you just didn’t post because you thought you didn’t look nice in any of the pics and he was just like “nah fuck that I’m gonna get good at this for your feed”. Follows so many of those “photo hacks”/“posing tips” accounts just so he can help you take nicer pics, now he’s a pro👏🏼
Bokuto — he has no idea what the hell he’s sounds and what he’s supposed to do but he has hella patience when it comes to doing things for you. As long as you look like you’re enjoying yourself and he seems like he’s doing good, he’s all game for taking 1528126826 pictures of you in the same spot with the same pose just to get that (1) perfect picture.
Mediocre photographer, editing KING
Suna — he gets very familiar with the photoshop settings from trying to make memes and stickers packs to clown the twins. The absolute GOD in terms of helping you remove people that got into your frame and making it look seamless. Probably has vsco and those camera apps that tries to make your pics look like they are taken with Polaroids on his phone.
Miya (Atsumu) — he learnt his lesson the hard way after getting clowned by his brother (and later vball teammates) for having wiggly bricks and crooked fences at the back of his pics because he tried to make his waist look smaller and legs longer🥲if you took a pic where you look really hot but “wow my hair doesn’t look fluffy enough” he can probably give you a free perm just by using facetune.
Kozume — he just... he just knows what he’s doing. He has very little patience during the photo taking process, but if you told him there’s a pic you like but you didn’t like this or that he would silently fix all those things and send it back to your without you even asking him to.
Today’s mvp, you should pay them just for how nice your feed got
Oikawa — he seems like the annoying type when he’s the one asking people to take his pics so in returns, he also knows what to do to get the best outcome. He knows all the tricks, all the hacks, the best pose that goes best according to what you want people to pay attention to. He probably has his pick of Instagram filters, one of them is probably that one with the sparkly effect. (But it comes with a cost because the amount of effort he put in for you, he expects you to do the same for him😌)
Akaashi — he just seems like he knows his shit LMAO he probably won’t make you look like an Instagram model but you’re gonna get very aesthetic artsy pics. Super good at finding hidden locations in places where everyone is crowding around that (1) visually pleasing spot and you couldn’t get pictures there without a seat of people at the back. He makes you look like a French art film star and I just think that sounds pretty nice😌
Yachi — not an hq boyfriend, she’s an hq girlfriend BUT THIS GIRL KNOWS WHAT SHES DOING. She works with graphic design right so she knows what proportions and what props to use to get the most balanced structure. She’s gonna make you your own magazine cover if you ask her to. She has a lot of experience with trying to make herself look taller in pics so if that’s what you want, she can make your legs look at least a good several inches longer 😌
Owen hosts Couple tag
Pairing: Charlie Gillespie x Artist Fem Reader
Summary: We play pretend world guys✨ (I missed them, I’m SoRryyyy.) So, Charlie wants some reassurance after starting to prepare his proposal to Y/N and makes this “genius” plan with Owen to find her answers without being suspicious. (She totally knows tho) also a lot of friendship fighting between Owen and Y/N because I had to, I made myself laugh a lot so I’ll hope at least makes you smile🤧🤣Anyways, have fun!
This is also my weird and nonsense way of doing sweet @marvel-ousnesss request of the we play pretend couple to do a couple buzzfeed quiz 💖
Tumblr media
The blonde takes a deep breath before picking up his phone and heading to the living room, where his couple of friends and roommates are on the couch. Charlie is lying down watching television and Y/N is lying on top of him with her face snuggled into his neck, he hugging her around the waist while gently running his fingers down her skin.
The plan was simple, to help Charlie plan the perfect proposal and give him an idea of what she expects from her wedding, they were doing a “Couple tag” video. That way the questions wouldn’t be as suspicious. Of course, there are easier ways but we are talking about Charlie. They convinced Kenny to call her and tell her that it was to promote the second season that is currently being filmed, and she agreed.
Charlie mentioned many times that someone else had to ask her the questions because she reads her boyfriend like an open book, so his improvisation had to be perfect to keep his best friend’s clever girlfriend out of the hook.
He decided to start the live from his room so as not to give the singer the opportunity to think much about it, so he sits in the living room and focuses the image on his friends who are not affected in the least by their positions. After all, everyone already knows that they are a couple and that they live together.
“Hello, I’m Y/N Y/L! And yes, that sexy, beautiful, adorable and talented man is my boyfriend, Charlie Gillespie.” He blushes as the memory of their first night back as a couple invades the mind of the Canadian, who had his girlfriend in exactly this position when she was, as she said, 'practicing' her introduction. Sadly, this time it will not end like that night because his best friend and about 500,000 people are watching.
“Welcome to my first edition of the Couple tag everyone! Here's my first guest couple, I know it’s not much, but I promise to find someone worthwhile next time, this is just for practice." Charlie laughs but looks nervous. Instead, his girlfriend sits down and rolls her eyes.
"I can't believe you chose him over a puppy or a hamster." The girl says to her boyfriend while laughing at her friend's offended reaction.
“I'm going to write that down in my long enemies list, but for now I have a live to lead. Okay guys, so basically I will ask them questions and I will also choose who answers them because I’m the only one hot enough to call the shots here."
She laughs and sticks out her tongue. Charlie sits down too and she takes his hand to fiddle with it. She keeps arguing for a few minutes with Owen but shows no signs of not wanting to play the game so he starts before she regrets it.
“Okay, first one is for Charlie. How did you guys met? This is actually a good one because a lot of the fans think you met on set and are like this really intense couple who started to date the very first week without even knowing each other’s last names.”
They both start laughing at the comment. The truth is that they have seen multiple posts and comments online from people judging their relationship and how fast they were going, especially when they did that last interview together and Y/N said that Charlie was taking his sweet time to ask for marriage, since for the fans they only have one year and months of knowing each other.
“We have known each other since forever. Our moms were best friends and we were born only a few weeks apart so we've always been together. We grew up as best friends and were dating before Y/N moved to New York to play Daniela on Stardust." Charlie tries to shake off the memory of the last tearful kiss before Y/N got on the plane. Hopefully he’ll never have to part from her for so long again. Sometimes he can't even understand how he managed to get through those 5 years.
"So no, we don't know each other for just one year, but 22." She adds, kissing his nose.
"Y/N, honey. I didn't ask you, don't be rude and wait for your turn." Owen says teasingly, the girl laughs and throws a pillow at him.
“Okay, rude again. Y/N, What is the first thing that he ever gave you?”
“Oh my, this beautiful valentines card! We were like eight I think. The paper is red, and it is filled with gold and silver glitter stars. Inside is a big star that has written in the middle, “My bright star, happy valentine’s day. I love you. And a lot of doodles of my favorite things, like my guitar, a microphone, chocolate, and a little Charlie. Just adorable, I still have it and to date it is one of my favorite gifts.”
The emotion with which she responds makes Charlie's heart melt. That was the first time he called her bright star, and he kept saying it to her during every audition, every performance, every practice. The exact reason not even she knows, but maybe one of these days he'll tell her.
“Rude and a liar. The 22-year-old Charlie's handwriting is horrible, the 8-year-old Charlie handwriting could only be close to a squiggle, nothing more. Oh, and probably only you had the ability to read it. I very much doubt that was beautiful."
She opens her mouth in surprise and wrinkles her nose, feigning annoyance. “I liked you more when you had a crush on me. You were nicer.”
Owen's eyes widen and he turns to see Charlie looking for help but he just starts laughing. “Wh- What are you talking about, mean girl?”
“Oh c’mon, you totally did, Ohio.” She smiles at the camara while showing a superiority face.
“Really? I already told you a thousand times, I'm from Oklahoma. But hey, how funny, forget about Stardust and audition for Funny Girl!”
“Jokes on you, I would nail Fanny Brice.”
“Man, defend my honor!”
“Bro, I can’t. You totally did, I even got worried for a second there.” It is incredible to think about how their friendship has grown and matured over time. They went from Owen fangirling every time he saw her to being really good friends. All these fights are more of a show than anything else, the truth is that when nobody is recording they tend to be very cool around each other and the three of them have quite a pleasant dynamic now that they are living together for the show.
“I won, Idaho. Now, please continue.”
“Well, my friends embarrassed me on my own live. I can already imagine the headlines tomorrow. Anyways, Charlie, Would you let yourself in danger to save her?”
Charlie starts laughing as he drops his head on the girl's shoulder. "I think she's not going to let me lie, I always have and will continue to do so. For me it's always her safety first."
"Which has given me more than a scare but he's so freakin stubborn." She adds while looking stressed and Owen can't help but imagine all the situations Charlie must have put himself in before.
“I prefer you scared than in danger, beautiful.” He grins and kiss her lips, her facial expresions relaxing at his touch.
“Gross. Y/N, do you prefer a small wedding or a big wedding?” She can feel Charlie tense at the question, so she leans her body back to support it against him and give him a lowkey reassurance.
“I hadn't really thought about it, but I know that my almost mother-in-law has been planning it all her life so you should check with her.”
His mom. Y/N is right, as always. His mom is their biggest shipper and the wedding is probably something she’ll want to be an importart part of, maybe way more than with his brothers since she adores the girl as much as her own kids, and the fact that his girlfriend is even more aware of that fact than him makes him smile.
“Do you love it when someone refers you as ‘her boyfriend’?”
“Always. Especially if it's her. She has that little knack of saying it whenever she can and it’s the most adorable thing in the world.”
“Oh I thought she was just showing it off to me because she was intimidated by our chemistry. I don't feel so special anymore.” Charlie chuckles and sends a secret air kiss to his friend, who just smirks and fakes to blush.
“How would you handle it if you thought another man was hitting on her?” Owen asks the guitarist raising an eyebrow.
“She usually takes care of that situations, her method is to take me by the shirt and kiss me hard on the lips. I’m never going to complain about that.” Charlie says smirking and blushing.
“We are a celebrity couple, for better or for worse. I’m not having him in a fight when I can just kiss that beautiful lips and solve the problem.” Charlie smiles as he wraps his girlfriend in his arms, so she can't see his face with the next question.
“What do you dream of your marriage? Mmm, let’s go with Y/N.”
“Anything will be perfect if I spend it with the man of my life. My Char is my everything and my biggest dream is to live my whole life laughing by his side.” Owen pretends to vomit as Charlie fills her with kisses under the ear, clearly moved by her answer.
“Let’s get to someting less cheesy because I really can’t with you both anymore. Has anyone ever tried to break your relationship?”
Charlie rolls his eyes and thinks for a moment. “Yes. We were like seventeen, and this guy from hockey had this big crush on her, so he tried to flirt with her many times even though everyone knew she was my girlfriend, until one day that he made her too uncomfortable and things escalated between him and me. Luckily my brothers intervened before something else happened because he was much bigger than me. I would have totally lost.” He chuckles while his girlfriend turns to see his face and gives him another sweet kiss on the corner of his lips.
“Yes guys, they are this annoying all the time. How do I survive? A lot of yoga. Next question, If three guys are standing, and you have been blindfolded, then how would you recognize him? Guys we actually did this like three days ago on set.”
“It was awesome! We put my bandana on her eyes and since it had my smell she couldn't be guided by that to choose.” Charlie explains excited.
“We got the three of us, first Jeremy then Charlie and then me in front of her, then she began to lightly touch Jer's hand. Then she went to Charlie's, it didn't take her a minute to recognize him and she took him from the hair and draw him to her lips, it was actually a pretty smooth and risky move, I’ll give you a point for that, prodigy brat.”
“Char's body inadvertently reacts to mine. It was pretty easy to tell the difference, especially after touching Jeremy's hand.” She turns her head to give Charlie a soft kiss on the lips and then Owen starts laughing like crazy and telling her to come see a specific comment.
She gets up and goes to sit next to him, Owen changes the camera so that now they are the ones in the image and she begins to read aloud. “Charlie I could give you my... Oh my god!” Owen continues laughing, resting his head on his friend who simply watches the screen in shock.
“Thank god Charlie doesn’t know how to read.” Owen, who was just recovering from his giggling fit, laughs again as Charlie giggles and sticks his tongue out at his girlfriend.
"Who needs to read when you look this hot with sleeveless shirts." He jokes while winking at his partner, which seems to melt in front of the camera that is still pointing directly at her.
“The man has a point. Okay, Y/N move your ass back there I’m still in charge of this show. Would you prefer a silver or gold ring?”
She makes sure to move off the screen and sticks her middlefinger at Owen before heading back to her place with her boyfriend. “Good and really random question.” She smirks, not making contact with her boyfriend. “I don't have a preference, but I would love Char to design it. Obviously with the correct guidance, but yeah he choosing every detail and then explaining to me why he choose it would be the dream.”
Charlie smiles. He was already imagining something like this after so many years of gifting and has already been visiting the jewelry store several times to make sure he designed the perfect ring for his girl, a slight feeling of pride filling him.
“Which series does she thinks resembles your relationship?”
“She loves Boy Meets World and see a lot of us in Cory and Topanga. I can totally see it too, after all they too have known each other their whole lives and have a bond as strong as ours.”
“Well that explains why she’s always telling me ‘Life is though, get a helmet’ instead of actually help me.” She grins at the memory of Charlie’s last prank on Owen a couple of days ago, it was really good since she secretly helped him plan it.
“Man, It wasn’t personal. I do the same with Char. I’m not going to be known for being the one ruining prank war. Take it to the end of the road, if you need me to take you idiots out of jail I totally will... eventually.”
“My girl, everyone. Isn’t she awesome?” He watches her adoringly and she blushes in response, buring her head on his neck.
“She always has this enormous energy and personality but all it takes is for you to see her for her to melt, that’s... kind of cute actually. Okay next question Stardust, What about If Charlie tells you to marry him tomorrow?”
For the thousandth time that night Y/N can feel Charlie stressing out. The fact that he planned together with Owen and Kenny all of this just to make sure he was on the same page with her is the most adorable thing in the world.
“I’m pretty sure he knows I would always say yes. He could have gotten on a plane when we were 18 and told me ‘I don't want to be without you, let's get married.’ And I would have said yes. He’s my person, I have nothing to think about, I have always known it’s him."
Now it's Charlie's turn to melt, and Owen himself can't help but smile.
Charlie's confidence in what he has planned is higher than ever, and the day when he can finally make it official is near. He has been dreaming of this day with his Y/N for years and he will finally get it.
“Well guys, that was it, give it up to my favorite couple of dumbasses and please stop asking obvious questions. Will I be Y/N’s maid of honor? Of course I will. Oh, and tune in next week to see me becoming Kenny’s new favorite after I challenge Y/N in a dance duel with I got the music. Golden star is GOING DOWN."
Thank you for reading✨
In Defense of Yosuke’s Parents
I’ve seen so many posts about Yosuke having bad parents which really surprised me because I didn’t get that impression at all. I’ve been meaning to make a post in defense of his parents, but I’ve been working on a Yu analysis. After I saw @personuhh’s post I thought I’d offer an alternative perspective. I’ll be addressing some of the things they brought up first, and then I’ll get into additional evidence. I have edited this post since I originally posted it because I I wanted to elaborate and reword some things.
My Response
You’re right, Yosuke does take on way more responsibility than a part-timer should. However, I don’t think that’s his parents doing. It seems like Junes is extremely understaffed. In his social link, Yosuke says his dad was “bugging him to find helpers.” I volunteer at a small location of a large church (much like the Inaba branch of Junes), and I have been asked to find more volunteers over and over again because they’re desperate for more help. It’s a lot of work and not enough people. Additionally, both Yu and Chie come in to help due to the lack of staff. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mrs. Hanamura helped out too as Teddie’s under the impression that Yosuke’s parents are always together (which I’ll talk about later).
On top of that, Yosuke mentions part-timers ditching work and slacking off. When an employee doesn’t show up, Yosuke (and Teddie) are often called in because their managers know they’ll show up. People who are reliable are given more responsibility, period. It sucks, but if someone needs help they aren’t going to ask someone who they don’t see as dependable. I volunteer at church every week, and I have been asked countless times if that’s okay because they don’t want to overwork me. Every time I say I don’t mind, and I assume Yosuke would have the same reaction if asked. Not only is it Yosuke’s natural instinct to help people, but he was kind of a pushover before the events of (and at the start of) Persona 4. In his third awakening, Yosuke says he was overworked and taken for granted. That’s not okay, and it’s a huge problem, but Mr. Hanamura isn't the cause of that. Mr. Hanamura is the general manager; his job isn’t to create the part-timer’s schedules.
It’s true that Yosuke tries to work out the problems of other employees and listens to their complaints. There is no indication that Yosuke was told to do this, and I don’t know why he would be. In his social link, there are two girls who act as if he has more power than he does. They demand a raise, ask him to give them the day off, and assume he has knowledge about another employee’s schedule. Yosuke says he doesn't have the power to help them, and in a manga page he says “I may be the manager’s son, but I’m still just an employee.” Yosuke is doing much more than the average part-timer, but he isn’t being given the responsibilities of a manager.
As for the Junes concert, Mr. Hanamura did not tell Yosuke he was going to be fired. Yosuke came to that conclusion himself. Mr. Hanumura did not ask Yosuke to find a solution or ask Rise for help. Yosuke only asked Rise for help because he was scared of moving again. I understand how the phrase “awfully nice for some reason” could come across as odd, but I don’t think he meant his dad isn’t usually nice. In the Persona 4 Manga that scene is translated as “My Dad’s been extra nice to me” meaning his dad is nice, he’s just being extra nice, and I’m not surprised. Yosuke was extremely unhappy when he moved to Inaba. Despite trying to hide his feelings, you can see in The Magician that he didn’t do a very good job of it. And now that Yosuke is finally happy, they might be forced to move again. Of course, Mr. Hanamura would feel guilty. Oftentimes, when people feel guilty, they start acting nicer - unnaturally so - to make themselves feel better. Chie (who is already very kind) even does it after she and Yukiko spend Yosuke’s money on clothes for Teddie. Yosuke notices the shift in her attitude and tells her that he’s worried. It’s the same reaction he had toward his dad’s behavior.
Tumblr media
The only reason I bring up Chie is to show an in-game example of someone being overly nice due to guilt. What Chie did was wrong, that’s why she feels guilty. The reason Mr. Hanamura would feel guilty is his job may have to move his entire family again. The cause of their guilt is different, but they are responding the same way.
I don’t think Mrs. Hanamura not wanting her son to own porn is unreasonable. My mom doesn’t like magic, so I wasn’t allowed to read or watch Harry Potter growing up. Similarly, a friend of mine wasn’t allowed to watch iCarly. As for Mrs. Hanamura burning Yosuke’s porn in Arena, that’s the third time (that we know of) that she’s seen his porn. I assume she’s told him she doesn’t want him looking at pornography, but he continues to do so anyway. Burning his magazines may seem dramatic, but she was likely just frustrated that he kept disobeying her.
I don’t think Yosuke’s parents are the reason why Yosuke wants to be seen as manly. I haven’t seen anything that implies that. I think Yosuke’s desperation to be seen as a man comes from Japanese society and his fears regarding his sexuality.
Tumblr media
Mr. Hanamura came up with this slogan because they were selling jinbei's which are traditionally worn by men. It’s a play on words. This isn’t the first time Mr. Hanamura has come up with a cringey slogan.
Tumblr media
It seems Mr. Hanamura has that stereotypically “dad humor” which is typically associated with positive father figures (it’s not always). Yosuke saying his dad is still saying the “MANsoon” slogan gave me reminds of kids being like “Dad, that’s a bad joke, stop”, but the dad continuing to make his bad jokes regardless. It’s very Disney Channel and sit-com like.
I don’t remember Teddie saying he watches violent war movies with Mr. Hanamura, but I don’t see how that connects to the idea of Mr. Hanamura pushing Yosuke to be a “more masculine, traditional, unshakable, unemotional man.” The idea that only those types of men watch war movies is the type of thinking Kanji’s and Naoto’s shadows were trying to address. I don’t think Mr. Hanamura cares about being that type of stereotypical/traditional man because of his relationship with Teddie. Teddie is not very masculine (he even says so in Persona Q, screenshot will be later), and he isn’t hiding it.
Tumblr media
This exchange is from Kanji’s Persona 4 Club Profile. Teddie went to the store to buy female clothing, and he asked Kanji to make him a dress (the one from the cross dressing pageant). He already owned his “Alice dress” before the cross dressing competition, and I assume he’s worn it. In Arena, you can see the dress is hung out in the open in their bedroom. He also wears hair clips.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not “masculine behavior” yet the Hanamuras don’t seem to have a problem with it. If anything, I’d say they’re pretty open-minded. If they disliked that way Teddie behaved, Teddie would change himself to fit the way they want him to be. I mean, the kid literally grew two new bodies in effort to get people to like him. Due to Teddie’s low self-esteem and need to be loved, he takes any sort of criticism to heart and does his best to act the way others want him too. In Persona Q, Yukari says he’d be cute if he was quiet, so Teddie stops talking.
Tumblr media
In Persona Q, Teddie says he’s realized that to steal hearts he needs to be manly. He gets this realization from Koromaru. He did not think this prior.
Tumblr media
Teddie saying Koromaru gave him this realization means the Hanmuras never said anything to him about his less masculine behavior.
As for the song lyrics you posted, I don’t really think that means anything. Yeah, people often relate to the music they listen to, but they don’t have to relate to every lyric or even song. My favorite artist is Taylor Swift, but I don’t really like romance. I don’t relate to most of her songs, but I still jam out to them. I could be super wrong about the song thing though because I’m not a huge music person.
My Own Additional Analysis (with some elements of response)
In this section I’m going to talk about Mr. and Mrs. Hanamura’s character and personality, their relationship with each other, Teddie, and Yosuke.
Let’s start off by talking about their personality. They seem to be very carefree people. Yosuke has less than average grades. In the Persona 4 Animation, he didn’t even show up to one of the exam days. Academics is extremely important in Japanese society, yet his parents don’t seem to be pushing him to get better grades. Considering how carefree Yosuke can be, it makes sense that he may have gotten that trait from his parents.
Yosuke’s family is pretty wealthy. It’s mentioned more than once. They also live in a pretty big house (you can see it in The Magician), Yosuke’s cell phone seems to be a newer model, and he has a large, flatscreen TV in his bedroom which wouldn’t be very common when the game took place. Despite this, Yosuke works for his own money. He complains about being broke and needing save up. I think the reason why Yosuke has a job despite being well-off is because his parents want him to have work experience and grow up to be a hardworking person, so he can succeed in life. It makes me think that hardwork is important to them.
Tumblr media
Due to this conversation, I think Mr. Hanamura is a very honest man. Yosuke says he was surprised his dad was against selling gas masks, likely because from a business standpoint, that’s a really big missed opportunity. I think it’s also worth noting that ATLUS talks a lot about how people naturally fit into the masses, including the main characters. That’s why it’s surprising that his father is going against the masses. Although he’s losing money and has faced many hardships running Junes, Mr. Hanamura refused to do something that was against his moral compass.
In Persona 4 Drama CD #1, Junes is closing down half of the electronics section due to a lack of sales. Despite this taking place in March, Teddie panics and hopes to sell a TV set in a month in exchange for keeping the TV they enter the TV World through where it is.
Tumblr media
Yosuke isn’t afraid to ask his dad two huge favors with a not very good reason (side note: Yosuke had to lie because the truth is that’s the TV he and his friends used to go into the TV world and fight shadows). Despite Yosuke’s best efforts, his father says no. He doesn’t really have any choice but to close part of the electronics floor. Junes is losing money by keeping it open. I think Mr. Hanamura gave him the vouchers because that’s the only other way he can help. Teddie made a deal that if he sells one TV set by the end of the month, they’ll keep the TV that leads to the TV world. He’s trying to advertise the TV set by promising other surprise items coming with it. These Junes vouchers are part of those surprise items.
It’s no secret that many of the shopping district families despise Junes and the Hanamuras. Many horrible things have been said about their family, yet Junes still teams up with the shopping district in the YasoInaba Case File to help keep them afloat. Whether or not this was Mr. Hanamura’s idea, he’s the one who has to approve it, and he does. Despite being treated horribly by them, he still wants to help the shopping district. Junes teaming up with shopping district might be a good business move, but they didn’t really need to do that. The problem is that Junes is taking away the shopping district’s business. Junes doesn’t need to team up with the shopping district to do well. The two of the teaming up benefits the shopping district way more than Junes. It doesn’t do much for Junes other than the shopping district maybe not hating them. At the end of the day, the shopping district families would still shop at the shopping district to keep their businesses afloat, so Junes isn’t getting a lot more business.
When Teddie came to the real world, Yosuke offered to take Teddie home with no hesitation. He didn’t think it would be a problem with his parents or show any concern about how he would convince them. I think this goes along with them being pretty carefree as well as showing that they’re kind and generous people. Not everyone is willing to take others in like that. Yosuke’s also comfortable with asking his parents such a huge favor.
Teddie talks about Yosuke’s parents in a really positive light, and I would say they treat him like their own son. For example, on January second Teddie says, “I got New Year’s gifts! Yosuke’s mom and dad gave them to me!” (edit: Someone said “notice how Yosuke doesn’t say the same thing.” He doesn’t need to. It’s Japense culture to give younger family members gifts for new Year’s. Yosuke saying something would be the equivalent of, “omg my parents gave me a birthday present!!” It would have been weirder if he did say something then. Teddie is excited because because this is his first New Year’s. He’s never experienced this before. Also, Yosuke did get New Year’s money. He talks about saving it on 1/10 when walking to school).
I think I remember Teddie saying he watches movies with Mrs. Hanamura, but I have no idea where he says that. There’s a 50/50 chance I made that up and convinced myself it was canon, so don’t take my word on that one.
Teddie breaks A LOT of rules at Junes. He steals topsicles, rode a handi mover through the store, slept on both a display bed and the floor of electronics department, been yelled at for eating samples, been chased by store security, and Yosuke had to monitor Teddie during his late night shift because they didn’t trust him to work alone. Teddie’s a terrible employee, yet he hasn’t been fired. I think the reason for this is he’s basically the manager’s son. I do want to say that just because they consider Teddie as their own child doesn’t mean they treat Yosuke as anything less. I haven’t seen a single thing that has implied that there is favoritism going on.
Yosuke and Teddie act a lot like brothers (Naoki even suspects that they're related), and Yosuke’s parents seem to treat Teddie like their own son. He even wears their family crest in offical art. I looks like ATLUS wnted the four of them to be a family. And If that’s the case, it wouldn’t make any sense for Mr. and Mrs. Hanamura to be bad parents.
Additionally, if Mr. and Mrs. Hanamura treated Yosuke badly, and Teddie noticed, I think Teddie would say something.
Tumblr media
The second Yukari said something slightly mean about Yosuke, Teddie defended him. He doesn’t like when other people say mean things about Yosuke. Not to mention conflict really stresses him out. If Yosuke’s parents treated him badly, I there’s a chance Teddie might see the problem.
I think it’s also worth noting that Yosuke’s parents have a really healthy marriage.
Tumblr media
This quote implies that they’re rarely apart and get along really well. A happy marriage doesn’t automatically equal a healthy household or good parents, but it really increases the likelihood.
Tumblr media
For context, Yosuke is talking about Teddie in this picture. I’m not from Japan, so I don’t know if most families there eat breakfast together, but my family - despite being very close - does not. We all eat and start our day at different times. In my mind, eating breakfast together is a very domestic thing to do. Even the phrase “Hanamura family breakfast” screams domestic to me.
Tumblr media
This conversation gives me the sense that Mr. Hanamura has a great deal of trust and respect for Yosuke. I mean, I don’t think he would accept Yosuke’s idea if he didn’t. Adding a kid’s menu would be pretty exspensive. Not only do they have to print the kid’s menu, but they have to design them, create new menu items, and depedning on what’s on the menu buy more food or ingredients. That adds up, and if it isn’t successful then they’ll lose money. Mr. Hanamura has to approve that idea, and he’s putting in trust that it’s going to be successful. Also, Yosuke is comfortable enough to “push really hard” for his idea.
All in all, it is my personal opinion that the Hanamurs are a really close family. It would make sense for ATLUS to go in that direction to create a contrast to the Narukami’s, after all. That being said, neither headcanon is wrong. It just comes down to how we interpret the very little information we’re given.
It’s Just a Movie: Part 3 (Poly!Lost Boys x Fem!Reader)
<- Previous Chapter Next Chapter ->
Warnings: cursing
Word count: 2034
Tumblr media
Now, while you were technically in a life or death situation with four vampires, you couldn't lie to yourself and say that you hadn't wanted to explore Santa Carla at least once in your life. Not Santa Cruz. Santa Carla. Time had changed the boardwalk, the styles, the people. But, now, you were right in it. The actual 1980's Santa Carla. You climbed off of Dwayne's bike, and you couldn't hide your awe as you looked down the length of the coast.
The boardwalk was littered with teenagers with wild hair, piercings, and people of all sorts. There were games, rides, and bonfires already lighting up the beach. And not a cellphone in sight. It was weird, and suddenly the piece of technology felt heavy in your pocket. You had almost forgotten that you had it, and your hand went to smooth over the rectangle in your back pocket. Suddenly, all didn't seem lost. Though, you quickly reminded yourself that this was the eighties. No wifi. No data. Hell, you'd be lucky if you still had battery. The only thing you'd have access to were the pictures and downloads you had saved on your phone. Then, it hit you. Your contact list. While you couldn't call them through your smart phone, you assumed, maybe you could call your friends if you managed to find a phone-booth or something...Or, god, a landline. Even if it was only a semblance of a plan, it felt better than nothing. Now, you just had to figure out a way to ditch the four of them so you could get your hands on a phone and avoid becoming their next meal.
"I'm guessing you haven't lived here long." David said, and you nearly jumped out of your skin. You looked over, and watched as he walked past you. The other three followed, with Marko grabbing one of your hands and pulling you to follow them. You supposed you hadn't been keeping your amazement subtle, and you already knew that he, and perhaps Marko, were the most observant of the four boys. Your voice was small as you supplied a simple,
"Yeah, just got here." You made a mental edit of your plan. You had to find a phone and ditch them before they found out you weren't exactly from here in more ways than one. You had a feeling that lying to him would be futile, and it was technically true. You really had just got there. He hummed, and then looked back at you. It was apparently Markos turn to pull you close, though the boy was closer to your height and chose to wrap an arm around your waist instead. He sent you a friendly smile, and you repeatedly reminded yourself over and over again that these four were not to be trusted. Horror movie. Killers. David sent you a smile, and, while it was as charming as his voice, it did nothing to calm your nerves.
"Explains your friends. Not everyone in Santa Carla is as nice as we are." David said, and you nearly wanted to laugh. Yeah, you were sure they were the nicest gang of killer vampires in the whole town. Maybe even the whole state. Instead, you hummed and said,
"Yeah, thanks for the ride. You guys...well, I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't met you." Now, that was the truth. You weren't just being sentimental with that statement. If you had been stuck here with not a familiar face in sight, in a strange town, and no way to call your friends? Well, you'd bet that you'd currently be having a panic attack in front of the movie theater. Not that you weren't just a few wrong moves away from having one right now. Paul practically jumped right next to you, squishing himself into your side and chirping a quick,
"You're welcome," before he added, "Y'know, your friends are kinda lame. Why don't you just hang out with us tonight?" He offered. Really, you swore that if you didn't know that these boys were vampires that you'd think they really might be some of the nicer people in Santa Carla. It wasn't like they knew you. But here they were, giving you rides, taking you to meet your friends, offering to hang out with you- Crap. You did a mental head shake. You had always made fun of Michael for falling so easily under their spell but here you were. You knew that they could be dangerous and, still, you were starting to think that you could trust them. You looked around for a moment, seeing four expectant set of eyes on you. Marko even tried to win you over by saying,
"C'mon, we're loads more fun." And, David, the charming bastard he was, gave you the most expectant look of all.
"Yeah, c'mon, y/n." The way he said your name, it reminded you of exactly the way he'd said Michael's. You could practically guess what was going to come out of his mouth next. "How far are you willing to go?" It didn't seem nearly as menacing as it had when he'd said it to Michael, but it effected you all the same. He'd used a similar tone. Gauging. Taunting. Like he was playing a game of chicken and seeing if he could egg you on. You instinctively looked away from his face, and to the most neutral of the four vampires. But the look Dwayne was giving you didn't help, and you watched as he looked over your face. Just his stare could make you on edge. You said the best excuse you could think of, but even it sounded terrible to your own ears.
"I really shouldn't...they're expecting me." You said, and you internally cringed. It was a lie, and, like you expected, you watched as David seemed to be able to immediately tell. Or perhaps he was frowning from your refusal. Apparently, you weren't willing to go very far. You couldn't really tell, but the blondes besides you seemed hardly convinced. Though, you couldn't get the way David frowned out of your mind. Sure, Michael had been stupid to follow the boys and let himself get egged on, but he had lived. They had kept him around. That was what lead you to adding, "But- but, maybe... we could check out some stuff on the way?"
You hadn't known what to expect, but bouncing from store to store definitely wasn't it. They took you to a music store, which was filled to the brim with old, technically new, cassettes and vinyl. You managed to surprise them a little bit with your taste in music, as the twenty-first century had made it far too easy to listen to stuff from decades before. You were even tempted to buy some stuff, as you were sure you wouldn't find them for nearly as cheap back home. But, you had to be careful not to slip up when they asked you about your favorite bands. You still didn't technically know what year it was, so you stuck to bands from the seventies just to be safe. Paul ended up showing you a few records, and you tried not to blush as he dragged you into one of the listening booths. He popped a couple of records on, before putting the headphones snuggly over your ears. You tried not to be embarrassed by the close proximity, and were grateful when Marko called that they were leaving. Even if it cut into the conversation you and Paul were having about the record. Afterwards, you stopped at a little booth selling various jackets, trinkets, jewelry, and even a few patches. You looked through them with Marko, taking the time to really get a close look at his jacket. He noticed you staring, and propped his elbows up on the clear counter. He sent you a grin, and you were flustered and looking away before he could even tease you. You saw that the other three seemed to be more interested in the bracelets, and that's when you noticed the ones decorating Dwayne's wrists. You had missed it in all your previous viewings, but you weren't surprised that you had. The costume designers had done so many little details for their wardrobe, and Dwayne noticed you looking. But, instead of teasing you, he passed you a similar looking bracelet as the five of you walked down the boardwalk. You gave him a confused look, and his lips quirked up just the slightest bit.
"Doesn't fit my wrist." He explained nonchalantly, and you watched as he strode closer to the platinum blonde leading the pack. You smiled to yourself, and tried your best to tie it onto your wrist yourself. Paul ended up helping you, his nimble fingers working quickly. He didn't ask where you got the bracelet, and instead dragged you towards the arcade David had been leading you to.
You didn't realize it until you asked one of them what time it was, making sure not to reach for your phone in your back pocket no matter how much of a habit it was, but it seemed that the boys also had a plan. You had relaxed, no matter how much you had tried not to, after spending what you realized was hours with them. It was getting late, and, when you finally made it to the carousel, none of them seem surprised when you said you didn't see your friends. Not that they'd actually be there waiting for you. But, still, the realization that they'd been stalling, making sure you would end up with no one else to hang out with that night, made you remember. Horror movie. Killers. You bet that any second David would be suggesting to take you to-
"You know where Hudson's Bluff is? Overlooking the point?" And you looked over at him. This was it. Your panic suddenly spiked at the idea of going back to the cave with them. No matter how cool it would be. No matter how much you wanted to see it for yourself. This was where everything went to shit. If you went back to the cave with them, there'd be no crowd to prevent you from getting murdered. You'd be alone. With them. Before any of them could jibe you into coming with, you quickly said,
"I should call them- my friends. Y'know, to- to make sure they're not worried about me. I don't want them telling my parents I got kidnapped or something." You quickly suggested, and the boys swayed for a moment. The three others looked between you and David, and you knew that they were waiting for his word. After a moment, he gave you a nod. You supposed that calling off any potential alarms would be something he'd be all for. And, hopefully, you could actually reach your friends.
"There's a phone booth at the end of the boardwalk. You can call your parents too. Tell them not to wait up." He said with a small grin, and it surprised you. If you didn't know any better, you'd almost think David was flirting with you. The walk back to the bikes, and to the phone booth, was surreal. David had pulled you closer to the front, but he wasn't nearly as affectionate as the others. Still, just standing next to him made you feel like you were doing more than you should.
You had meant to ditch them, but, now, they were only a few feet away. Sitting on their bikes. You felt stupid for having missed it when you first arrived, but the place had been swarmed with people. And the phonebooth seemed to purposely be stuck in a small, dark corner. You gulped as you closed the glass door behind you, and you rustled around in your pockets for loose change. The only thing you had was a nickel and a couple of pennies, and you cursed yourself for not keeping more change in your purse. Not that you knew how much it would cost anyways. You looked back out at where the boys were waiting on their bikes, having noticed that the crowds had thinned out considerably compared to when you first arrived. You gulped and cracked open the door.
The thrill of the chase - Chapter One
Pairings: Mason Mount/OC, Ben Chilwell/OC
Warnings: None for now but you know me, I like a little smut here and there...
-------------------------------------------------
"If I have to edit and upload one more post about golden boy, I'm going to scream" I groaned, rubbing my temples. It's not even 10am on Monday morning and I already want to quit my job.
Brianna is sat on a chair, flipping through a magazine opposite my desk, and although her job doesn't require her to be in an office, she spends most of her time here.
"At least your job involves more than just washing and folding sweaty socks with your dad." She mused.
I rolled my eyes at her. She didn't quite get how annoying it is to be a graphic designer and social media manager that is only given the same images to work with over and over. My eyes flick back to my computer screen and the grinning Male on it. He isn't completely unattractive but him being a footballer and what all the praise he has been getting lately must be doing to his ego was enough to put me off. I would go as far as to say I disliked the guy.
"So if you don't like Mason, who do you watch from this window?" Bri was suddenly up on her feet and standing at my office window. It was floor to ceiling and had a good view of the training complex and sliding door access. The office had used to belong to Jose Mourinho both times he had been the manager here, shunning the actual managers office for one where he could see the pitches clearer. The first team trained about 5ft from where she was standing and if one of them were to look up from their drills they would see her staring out at them.
I pulled her away from the window by her arm.
"I don't sit here looking out of the window all the time, I have a job to do"
Occasionally, if I was on a particularly boring phone call I would let my eyes wander over to the window just to see what they were up to, but never watched any one player in particular. I didn't even know who some of the new faces were.
"Personally I think all the ones around our age are really hot -" Bri then started listing the names off and it sounded like she named the entire 23 man squad by the time she was finished.
We were then interrupted by a knock on my office door and Bri's father Dave stuck his head round it and said "sorry to interrupt girls but Bri and I have some kits to organise." He looked more amused than angry, being pretty used to his daughter avoiding her duties by now. "You wouldn't mind bringing us two of those fancy coffees of yours would you Katie?" He asked.
One of the other perks of having Jose's old office was the coffee machine. He had it installed and compared to the muck that came out of the cafeteria's coffee machines, it produced gold.
"Will do." I replied as Bri scurried over to her father and out of the door.
I decided coffee delivery was a good way to get out of having to stare at all the social media channels for a few minutes.
Once the coffees were made I tipped them from the plastic cups into two mugs from the cupboard beneath the machine, it felt nicer to take them to my friend and her dad that way.
It was tricky negotiating opening my office door with each hand occupied by a steaming hot mug, but I managed to nudge it open with a combination of my elbow and the heel of my shoe. I was just praising myself internally for getting the door open when something knocked into the side of me, tipping the contents of the mug into my right hand over whatever it had been.
"Oh shit, I'm so sorry."
I looked up from the hallway carpet which I was worried was stained with coffee, into the smiling face of someone wearing a training kit.
"No that was me, shit sorry. Have I just poured boiling hot coffee all over the star striker or something? Marina will kill me." I put both of the mugs down on the floor and ran back into my office, coming back out a few seconds later with a wad of tissues. I tried to dab the stain on his top with the tissues but they were pretty useless and he knew it too because he put his hand over mine to stop me.
"Don't worry about it love, I'm not star striker, I'm just the left back."
He didn’t seem mad about having coffee thrown all over him. Being a footballer I was half expecting him to throw a fit and go all ‘do you know who I am?’. But he didn’t. Instead, he gave me the nicest smile.
“Please let me get you another training shirt at least? I was just heading to the kit room with the coffees.” I balled up the wad of tissues and put them in the bin in the hallway just to the side of us and picked the mug that I hadn’t dropped back up. Brianna would have to go without and it served her right really for avoiding her job for most of the morning.
“Alright then.” He agreed. “Lead the way, I haven’t been here long, so not sure where to go if I’m honest.”
“Oh right yeah, of course.” I pretended like I knew who he was and that he had only just signed, unsure of whether he could actually tell that I had no idea. He probably did know that as I asked if he was the star striker, when in fact he’s a left back.
He followed me silently down the corridor to the kit room. I knocked once before entering.
“Is that you Katie?” Dave called from inside.
“No, it’s Starbucks” I laughed.
He opened the door, a pair of socks slung over his shoulder.
“Cheers love, come in.” He said.
I looked back at the footballer behind me and gestured for him to follow.
“I had a bit of an accident on the way here Dave and ended up pouring Brianna’s all over…” I was about to ask his name when Dave cut me off.
“Ben Chilwell! I was so chuffed that you’d signed. It’s about time we got an English core to this team back. God Katie did do a number on your shirt didn’t she?” he laughed, clapping Ben on the back, before he went over to a stack of the blue and white training tops.
Ben. Yeah he looked like a Ben. Undeniably he was quite handsome. I saw Brianna out of the corner of my eye, she was sat gawping at him with her mouth half open.
I tried to gesture to Brianna that she needed to put her tongue back in her mouth. She seemed to get the hit and straightened the way she was sat, playing it cool. I tried not to laugh.
Dave passed Ben a fresh shirt, and I got a whiff of the freshly laundered scent as it passed in front of me.
“Thank you so much.” Ben said, accepting the new shirt gratefully. “I’ll try my best to watch where I’m going in the future.”
He gave us all a smile and apologetically said that he needed to get back to training before he left the kit room.
“Blimey!” Brianna sighed once he was gone.
“What?” I asked.
“Sorry that you have to hear this dad, but bloody hell he was fit. I’m disappointed that he didn’t want to change here.” we both started laughing and Dave shook his head, muttering a ‘you two’ under his breath before going back to matching the socks up.
“I’m going to go too, do you want to get lunch later Bri?” I asked, hoping that she would want to walk to the shops with me. I needed a few things and I wouldn’t have much time after work to go.
“Only if we’re getting it here because I want to be in the canteen when they all come in from training.” she was gazing toward the tiny window in the kit room dreamily as she spoke.
I rolled my eyes but agreed.
I spent the walk back to my office wondering if Ben Chilwell actually was as fit as Brianna was making him out to be.
Sitting back down at my desk, I logged back into my computer. I had new emails sat in the inbox. One of them happened to be pictures of the new players for me to edit. I had an edit of every player in the team that I had ready for match days. On a match day I would be in charge of adding time stamps for any goals and then uploading the goal scorer’s picture. Recently, more often than not I had been having to upload the same few pictures of Mason Mount and it was getting a bit boring. The fans loved it though, he was our most retweeted player and often I would read the social media comments, all singing his praises. Especially the young women.
———————————————————————————————————
By the time it got to lunchtime I was sick of photoshop. My program wasn’t running very smoothly, probably in need of an update and I had grown more and more frustrated as the morning went on, having to restart it twice.
Brianna came to my office just before 1 and waited for me to finish off my last edit and lock my computer.
“Good morning?” she asked. “Because no offence you look mega stressed and we don’t need that kind of vibe if we are going to be around fit footballers for the next hour.”
I wanted to eye roll for the millionth time but I cut her some slack. She had recently had a really bad break up and her ex had been a proper bellend. Unfortunately for Bri, she didn’t have the greatest amount of luck when it came to guys. Her ex had broken up with her for another girl and had then continued to hook up with Bri, who had stupidly let him until I had convinced her what a bad idea that was. She was clearly feeling really lonely.
“Someone will come along you know, it doesn’t have to be a footballer.” I said, putting my hand on her arm and squeezing reassuringly.
“But Liam supports Chelsea, so how mad would he be if I got off with one of his favourite players? He’d be begging me to take him back then.” she smirked.
“That’s not what you want though right? To get back with him I mean.” I opened the door and we started to walk down the hallway towards the canteen while we chatted.
“No, I just want him to feel the sting of rejection and know how it feels for once.” she shrugged.
When we reached the door to the canteen there was a young lad with mousey brown hair kind of hanging around. His face lit up at the sight of us and I was slightly taken aback by it.
“After you.” He said, opening the door for us. He had a really strong Scottish accent that I hadn’t heard before. I guessed he must be part of the youth team. He’d probably end up out on loan after loan and we’d never see him again.
“That was strange.” I mumbled to Bri.
She shrugged, walking over to the back of the queue to get food. I followed her and grabbed a tray for myself.
I reached into the chilled drinks cabinet and picked out an iced coffee placing it on my tray.
“Glad to see that isn’t a hot coffee!”
Turning my head to the side, I saw that it was Ben again, standing behind me in the queue and then just behind him, my favourite person of all, Mason Mount.
“Yeah I’m on a final warning about spilling hot drinks over footballers so I’m only allowed cold coffees from now on”. I joked.
“I’m sure Benj will keep you warm in the winter.” Mason piped up.
I tried not to curse under my breath that he was butting into our conversation.
“Mate.” Ben said to Mason, shaking his head.
“What? she is fitter than you said.” Mason bantered back, looking at me rather than Ben.
“Thanks but I don’t need validation from you.” I bantered back, before moving along to the next chiller and picking out a caesar salad and an apple.
I heard the word “feisty” from behind me, but couldn’t tell which one of them had said it as I caught Brianna up in the queue.
She gave me a puzzled look and I shrugged, simply mouthing the word ‘boys’.
As employees we didn’t have to pay for any of our food which was a nice perk of the job and saved me a lot of money in eating out and packed lunches.
We took our food over to one of the tables that we usually sat at whenever we used the canteen and we were joined as usual by some of the other members of support staff.
Brianna was filling them in on my mishap with the coffee that morning while I scrolled through twitter on my phone. I liked to check how our social media platforms looked from the perspective fo the intended audience.
“You’re such a workaholic” Bri scolded me.
I looked up and apologised, tucking my phone away into my pocket.
“You two are polar opposites” Jane, one of the physios said. “I do agree with Brianna to an extent about some of the new faces. If I were a few years younger…”
Jane was a bit like our work mother. She was in her mid 50s and happily married with two teenage boys of her own to contend with. Because she had never had any daughters, she took particular care of me and Bri and loved to join in with our girl talk.
“I don’t think it would be worth the hassle personally” I shrugged.
Jane grinned. “You’re so sensible Katie, and probably right. Young men with too much fame and money probably don’t make the best partners. I tried to say that about my Martin too, back in the day. He was in the army and you know what they say about them!”
We both looked at her waiting for her to give us the answer.
“You know, a girl in every base town.” she laughed. “I tamed him though. Maybe don’t write them off completely.”
I wasn’t sure that I wanted to attempt to find a partner at all. I had been single since things that fallen apart with my ex when we both left uni. At uni we had a lot more time for each other, despite the different schedules and studying. When I had started working for Chelsea I put everything that I had into my job, desperately wanting to make a good impression. Hundreds of people had applied for the position and I wanted to make them feel like they had made the right choice in hiring me. So long days in the office turned into long days and evenings in the office, especially when Chelsea had late kick offs. I just found it easier to be in my office with the radio commentary on, sending out the tweets as the goals went in.
“Katie, are you listening? You zoned out a bit again.” Jane said, waving her hand in front of my face.
“Sorry just thinking about my to do list” I mumbled, trying not to admit to them that I had been thinking about Rory again. Sometimes it isn’t the person that you miss, just the feeling of having someone.
“I was just making you aware that are three young men constantly looking over here.” she said, trying to keep her voice low.
I was curious so I looked, there were a few of them sat at the furthest table, but none of them were looking in our direction.
“Who?” I asked.
“Oh I don’t know the names, I just deal with the injuries.” she shrugged.
“Well that’s helpful then” Bri said, pouting. “I wanted to know which ones fancied me so that I could target my flirting.”
———————————————————————————————————
Ben
“Go and talk to her.” Mason encouraged me.
I shook my head, trying to focus on eating my food, although I hadn’t really been able to. I had just been using my fork to move it around my plate aimlessly.
“No.” I mumbled. “I barely even know the girl. She spilt her coffee on me then got me another training shirt.”
“Oh yeah.” Mason smirked. “Did she help you put it on too?”
“She got you a new training shirt?” It was Billy that spoke now. He looked really nervous and was pretty much doing the same as me, forking his food around rather than actually eating it.
“Yeah from that room with all the kits in” I responded.
“Oh.” he said quietly, looking down.
I caught on then. Billy had been ahead of us coming off the training pitch and I had seen him wait and then open the door for the girls with a big grin on his face. I had thought he was just being polite, but I now realised it was more than that. He had waited on purpose and obviously liked one of them.
“It was the brunette one. The little blonde was in the room too but it wasn’t here that me and Mase were talking about” as I explained I watched Billy brighten back up again. It was the other one that he fancied, not Katie, and for some reason I was relieved.
Mason caught on then too.
“Hang on, do you like that one or something? The kit man’s daughter?” Mason asked him.
He had raised his voice a bit in excitement so I gestured for him to speak quieter.
“Yeah only for the last few years, you know.” Billy responded, blushing a bit.
Mason would probably take the piss out of him for the rest of the afternoon and god forbid if Tammy or Jorginho found out, poor Billy would absolutely never hear the end of it.
“Have you ever tried to tell her?” I asked him.
“Only once, but I chickened out because I heard she had a fella” he shrugged.
“When was that?” I pressed.
“Couple of years ago, but then I kept being sent out on loan so couldnae’ really have asked her out any way” he sighed and put his fork down at the side of his plate.
I decided then that I was going to make it my mission to get Billy to ask that girl out. The worst she could say was no and he wouldn’t be any worse off than he was now. I could even use it to my advantage and casually speak to Katie about the two of them.
I looked over at her table again, she looked a little sad.
I had promised myself that I would focus on my career for a bit and not get involved with any girls for a bit, but here I was on day bloody one simping over a girl I’d only just met. I cursed myself for it.
Chapter One
Fall of Junior Year – 8:57am
I curse every single decision that has brought me to this very moment as I power-walk across campus, sweating under the already blistering sun. Campus in August could easily be compared to a swamp given the amount of unearthly humidity, and I'm pretty sure I currently qualified as the local swamp thing.
The only positive feature in my morning has been the table of free coffee and doughnuts staffed by Student Government. The first day of the fall semester always seems to be accompanied by frantically wide-eyed freshmen and celebratory freebies. However, air conditioning is the only thing I would be celebrating today as I finally reach Tyson Hall – the destination of my 9:00am class.
As I rush to my classroom with one minute to spare, I slump into a seat in the far corner – my preferred location for people-watching out of the large windows and for getting away with doing homework for other classes.
Familiar faces surround me, an unsurprising observation given that this is our mandatory research seminar as psychology majors. I notice my friend Jenni sitting in the opposite corner, eyes glued to her phone screen.
Opening my laptop, I shoot her a text to come sit with me. Her head whips up, black braids moving every which way as she immediately piles up her things and hustles over, “(y/n), I forgot you were in this seminar! I just switched over from quantitative research because I couldn’t take any more statistics – or Dr. Harding.”
Dr. Harding is the dean of the psychology department and has been teaching here for ages. Feared by most psychology students for his tough grading and intimidating persona, he’s actually a huge softie – something I discovered by going to his office hours and seeing all 85 pictures of his grandchildren hanging throughout the room.
“He’s not that bad, Jen.”
She scoffs, “You would say that because you got an A in statistics like some sort of wizard. Besides, Dr. Newman is so much nicer.”
Jenni has an excellent point. Dr. Newman is the main reason I chose this seminar. As one of the most respected researchers at our university, she’s known for her qualitative studies on gender across cultures. I consider Dr. Newman to be a real badass woman and I lowkey stan her.
I turn to reply, but Dr. Newman begins taking attendance and class begins.
Tumblr media
Fifty minutes later, Jenni practically drags me out of the classroom, “I cannot believe she kept us the whole 50 minutes. Is she aware that it’s syllabus week? It’s practically law to just read over the syllabus and then dismiss class. This is outrageous– (y/n), are you even listening?”
“Hmm?” I totally had tuned her out, focusing on the number of students flooding the quad. I had missed this – the rush of students heading to class, the yells of people greeting each other from entirely too far away, the buzz of excitement over potential parties…
“Unbelievable. How did I forget you have this whole weird-ass feminist crush on her?” Jenni forges forth, “It doesn’t matter. What are you doing tonight? You’re going out with us, right? Luna and I want to go to Hannigan’s.”
Since the three of us had all turned 21 over the summer, we finally could legally go to the bars in town. Hannigan’s currently holds the top spot on the list of bars that most of the upperclassman frequent. It’s a popular Irish pub downtown known for its cheap beer and mixed drinks.
It’s also BTS’s unofficial hangout – a fact that makes me slightly uneasy. After learning who the higher-ups are in BTS, I have taken to avoiding them like the plague. It was a relatively easy thing to do since the spring semester tended to be less focused on rushing and recruiting for fraternities and sororities.
But now it’s rush season, and I’m pretty much fucked. There will be no avoiding seeing BTS’s president Kim Namjoon out recruiting with his vice president Min Yoongi and his social chair Jung Hoseok. There will also be no avoiding pledge master Taehyung leading around new BTS pledges like a mother duckling. And don’t even get me started on how Kim Seokjin, Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook will be popping up everywhere to advertise the latest BTS bash.
Sighing, I figure that the chances of actually bumping into them at the bar will be slim, given that it will most likely be super crowded and I can easily blend in.
I turn to Jenni as we keep walking towards our next classes, “Yeah, I’ll go to Hannigan’s. Are you going to come over to get ready at our place?”
Luna and I had moved into a cute little off-campus apartment over the summer. As it turned out, it’s cheaper to live off-campus than on-campus if you look hard enough. We also had it pretty good location-wise being just a few short blocks from both campus and downtown.
“Yes!” Jenni replies, slowing to a stop out front of the science building, “I’ll be over around 8 with tequila. I’ll text you later. I’ve got to go to neuro-psych lab now,” she rolls her eyes, “Hopefully we won’t be kept the whole time.”
Waving, we part ways, and I shake my head.
Tequila never leads to anything good.
Tumblr media
Hannigan’s – 10:54pm
Fate seems to be on my side for once in my life. As soon as Luna, Jenni and I walk into Hannigan’s, my eyes are drawn to the back table where the BTS usually sits. It’s empty.
It’s practically an unspoken rule that no one else can sit there, and even though the bar is packed with all other tables accounted for, that one remains vacant – and for good reason.
Greek life essentially has a cult following around here. The Greeks provide status for those who are into that whole exclusivity thing. They also provide the best parties because of the size of their houses and because the university will never complain about one of their best sources of revenue.
I didn’t to rush a sorority way back in freshman year because I couldn’t feasibly afford it. The dues were way out of my price range, considering I was already paying for my education on my own. Luna, on the other hand, is in Epsilon Xi Delta (EXID) and consistently makes me and Jenni tag along to different Greek parties with her.
"Come on, bitches! Let's get some drinks," Jenni drags me and Luna through the packed room towards the bar that is already encircled by a crowd of thirsty students.
Tonight’s plan is simple – stick together, have fun, scope out cute seniors. Having already taken some shots before we left (saving that coin), we’re definitely feeling ourselves, flaunting our outfits like we didn’t spend a good hour picking them out earlier.
I had settled on a black t-shirt dress with a checkered flannel tied around the waist and some black Doc Martens. Luna and Jenni had tried to convince me to wear heels with them, but I knew syllabus week was a marathon – not a sprint. My feet would thank me later, and theirs would be crying.
As the bartender slides us our beers, the opening beats of Cocky AF by our badass queen Megan Thee Stallion blast through the speakers dispersed throughout the bar. Turning immediately to each other, we clink our beers together, take a sip, and head to the makeshift dance floor.
We squeeze and push our way through the masses until we reach a spot towards the back where the crowd has thinned out a little more. Within seconds, we’re in motion, hips swaying in time to Megan saying ‘bitch, I look good and you know that’.
Shaking out my hair, I get in the zone and lose count of how many songs we dance to. Eventually, our beers empty and Luna turns to me, “Another?" She accompanies her shouted question with an unnecessary charade of shot-gunning a beer in case I couldn’t hear her. I roll my eyes, laughing while I nod in response.
“Save our spot!” Jenni yells and disappears into the crowd of dancers with Luna towards the bar.
I continue dancing on my own. Swaying my hips, I decide to put my hair up to try to cool off a little in the sweltering bar. The music shifts into a new song, this one slower, more seductive, a favorite of mine – Lost in the Fire featuring The Weeknd.
As Abel’s angelic voice flows over me, a pair of hands slide over my hips from behind me. I start to pull away, but then I notice – the hands are tattooed. And for some reason, that hot little fact makes me relax into the large body behind me.
Those tattooed hands tug me back even more, bringing me flush against him as he falls into time with my movements. God, this guy can dance – a rarity these days.
His body is all hard muscle and heated skin. His mouth is hot against my neck, alternating between kissing, sucking, and biting. My skin buzzes. Fuck, I haven’t felt this way since–
Turning my head slightly, I can make out the vague outline him and it confirms my sinking suspicion... He’s a BTS boy.
"Hey, noona," he murmurs in my ear, his lips brushing over it as he speaks.
Fuck my life, I think as I shiver involuntarily in response. Spinning to face one of Satan’s henchmen, I toss my ponytail over my shoulder and jut a hip out in both defiance and defense. But really nothing could have prepared me for the sight of Jeon fucking Jungkook, the golden boy of BTS.
He somehow looks like he’s gotten even bigger since the last I saw him playing pong against Taehyung at that party – information that I cannot even comprehend. His left arm is completely tattooed, along with a few smaller ones dotting his hands. I glare at them, blaming those hands for throwing me off.
“Like them?” Jungkook waves his fingers in front of my narrowed eyes, “I got them this summer.” Smirking lazily, Jungkook makes his own perusal of me – taking extra time along the way.
His jaw flexes as his eyes turn molten, “You’re killing me, noona. Tae didn’t mention…” He trails off, swallowing hard.
I follow his gaze. Oh fuck. I had forgotten I decided to forego a regular bra tonight because I wanted to show off my piercings. Just having a thin bralette under my dress, my pierced nipples are definitely noticeable under Jungkook’s heavy stare.
Refusing to give into him, I square my shoulders, “Yeah, I got them this summer, too. But, I don’t see how that’s either your or Taehyung’s business.”
At my words, Jungkook rips his eyes away from my tits to finally meet my own eyes again, “Oh, but it really is our business. Tae said we’d like you and I agree.”
His voice is low and rough, and I swear I can feel it washing over my body, making all of my synapses fire in response.
“We?” I choked out. In full panic mode, I spin and try to leave, but I barely make it a foot away before getting stopped by a now-familiar tattooed hand wrapped around my wrist.
Luckily, a crashing sound echoes from the back table where the other BTS boys must be, and Jungkook lets out a string of curses, “Fucking hell, listen I have to go make sure no one’s hurt, or Joon will kill me. Stay here, okay? I’m not done with you, (y/n).”
His hand rushes up to the nape of my neck, pulling me into him. Our lips fuse together in a brutally hot kiss, his tongue slipping against my bottom lip for a fraction of a second.
And then he’s gone – disappearing rapidly through the fray to manage whatever trouble his frat has gotten into.
I stand there, shaking fingers on my lips wondering what the actual fuck just happened.
“Hey, sorry we took so long! This bitch cut in front of us and I swear she ordered for the entire fucking population of North America—”
Luna smacks Jenni’s arm, cutting her off, “You okay, (y/n)?” Luna peers closer at me, “Holy shit, is that a hickey?  We were only gone for 10 minutes!”
My hand flies to my neck as both Jenni and Luna grab me, dragging me to the slightly quieter back alley of the bar. As they conduct the second Spanish Inquisition, I spill the details on what happened.
After a moment of silence following my explanation, they both start talking at once:
→ Jenni: “Hell yes, girl, go off! Jeon Jungkook is fine as fuck…” → Luna: “(y/f/n) (y/m/n) (y/l/n), have you lost your damn mind…”
→ Jenni: “…I’d hit that in a heartbeat. I’m so proud!” → Luna: “…Do you not remember last semester? Are you high? Oh my GOD, did he drug you?!”
“Stop!” I slap a hand over each of their mouths, “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, you guys are impossible. I am not ‘hitting’ anything, and, no, he did not fucking drug me.”
Sighing, I continue, “It was a lapse in judgement, okay? I remember last semester more than anyone, but he’s just so powerful and I don’t seem to have any common sense around BTS.”
I take my hands away from their mouths and immediately Jenni asks, “Wait, what happened last semester?”
Luna slings an arm around my shoulder, “Come on, let’s go get pizza and a six-pack from Ralph’s. We can go out another night this week.”
“Take-out from Ralph’s?” Jenni’s eyes widen comically, “This must be major tea. Let’s go.”
Instinctively, we clink our beers together for the second time that night and chug the remainder of our bottles in true broke bitch fashion (never leave paid-for beer behind).
With that, we trek back through the door and out of the bar. We finish our night filling in Jenni with our less than savory experience with the infamous BTS fraternity last semester.
But, as I lay in bed for the night, I can’t help but wonder if Jungkook had looked for me that night after I left… Or if he told Taehyung...
part one | part five
Tumblr media
The restaurant had a cozy, warm atmosphere despite the teams intentions. Perhaps under different circumstances, the team would be here sitting at the bar, sipping on some alcohol they’ve never heard of, and chatting about any lad or lady they’d gladly go home with. But they were on a mission. Y/N tapped her foot against the leg of the chair, her heels clacking against the metal. She and JJ sat at the bar across the booth Spencer sat at, waiting for their target, Catherine Adams. She was a part of the group of hitmen that were targeting Penelope, and the team was determined to take them down. So there they were, using Spencer as bait to catch Miss. 45 with the rest of the team undercover.
Y/N felt a hand on her bouncing leg, looking down at it, and her eyes trailed up to meet JJ’s. “Y/N,” she says.
“Sorry,” she apologized, and crossed her leg over the other. Y/N looked back at Spencer at the table as he pulled a single rose out of his jacket pocket, placing it beside the plate the opposite of him. He met her eyes, giving her a tightlipped smile. She brought her attention to the woman making her way towards him and Spencer tore his eyes away from Y/N, looking up to Cat. Y/N cringed at the sight and twisted in her seat. “It’s gonna be a long night.” she mumbled to JJ before taking a swig of her drink.
“Spencer?” Cat smiled, waving slightly.
“Cat?” he stood up. “Hello!”
“Nice to finally meet you!” Cat went in for a hug, and Spencer blocked her.
“Oh, sorry, I have a germ thing,” he said. “I’m kind of weird with hugs.”
They stood there in silence, Cat rocking on her heels. Spencer fiddled with the ring on his finger and tried to avoid her gaze out of awkwardness. “Can I sit down?” she laughs slightly.
“Oh! Yes, please. Of course, sit down.”
Cat slides into her seat, taking her coat off in the process. Then it’s silent again and Y/N could practically feel the awkwardness radiating off the two from where she and JJ were sitting. “First time doing this, huh?” she asks.
“Yeah,” he nods.
“Yeah, I still get nervous too,” she admits. “Really, it wasn’t until an hour ago that I was like, wait, we’ve been trading emails back and forth, but I still have no idea what this guy looks like,”
“Hence the…” Spencer pointed to the rose in front of her.
“I know. And then I was like, wait, he’s going to bring a red rose, so we need to go to a nicer place, which is why I switched the restaurant last minute,”
Spencer interrupts her. “Not—Not a problem at all.”
“And now I need to change and put on something nice on for this place, ‘cause I was totally underdressed, and my whole wardrobe makes me look like a Kardashian,” she finished and saw Spencer’s eyebrows knit together. “You don’t know who that is, do you?”
“Oh, yeah, Robert Kardashian. He got O. J. Simpson off. You—You don’t look like his daughter.” he stutters
“Yeah, no, I was making a joke. A bad one.”
“No, it was good! It was a good joke.” Then there’s an awkward pause again. Spencer lets out a sharp exhale, trying to conjure up words to fill the looming silence.
“Can we start over? Hi. I’m Cat.” she said.
-
“Tell me about your wife,” Cat blurted, leaning her head against her palm.
Spencer stiffens in his seat and averts his eyes. “If you don’t mind, I’d, um, I’d rather not talk about her.”
“Might as well get it out in the open, right? That’s why we’re here.” said Cat. “How long have you been married?”
“4 years,” he lied.
“When is she due to give birth?”
Spencer clears his throat. “A couple months,” he straightens out his posture and leans forward across the table. “Should we talk about price now, or…”
Cat smirks, mirroring his actions. “Slow down, Tiger, what exactly are we negotiating here?”
“You know,” he ventured.
“I want to hear you say it.”
He ducked down lower and glanced over his surroundings. “To have her killed.”
“Let me see your ring,” she grinned.
Spencer extended his left hand, and Cat took his hand in hers. “You know what that is?” she asks, twisting the ring. “A noose. Only it doesn’t kill you all at once. It kills you slowly, day by day. You ever feel that way?”
“I feel that way all the time.” Spencer said.
“Take it off,” Cat urged.
“Why?”
“As a sign of your commitment,” she grinned, tapping her finger lightly against the table. “To me.”
Cat watched as Spencer slid the ring off his finger. She held out her hand, looking at him expectantly, and he dropped the ring in her palm. She inspects it carefully as if she’s looking for something.
“24-karat?”
“Mhm.”
“24k times 4 years means this ring should be dinged and nicked, but the sucker is brand new,” she tossed the ring at him. “You’re not married.”
From under the table, Spencer could hear Cat arm the gun that she hid.
“Why are we here, Spencer?” Cat interrogated.
“We’re here because you belong to a network of 4 hitmen who’ve been operating in the shadows of the internet. You’re known as Miss. 45. My team and I have been hunting you for months and I knew if I boxed you in, I could arrest you with as little resistance as possible.”
“Your team being the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. You guys are good. You’re the only ones that got close to use, but we got kind of close to you, too, didn’t we?” Cat countered, leaning closer to Spencer. “Hi, Penelope.”
“Do you know why I’m so good at my job?”
“Because you kill without compunction or remorse.” Spencer answered.
“That only gets a girl so far in life. No, it’s because I think through every potential outcome, and then I plan accordingly. You see, I didn’t walk into your trap,” Cat chided. “You walked into mine. Where’s your head, Spencer? What are you thinking about?” she moves herself closer to Spencer, keeping eye contact with him.
“I was thinking about entropy,”
“Mhm,” Cat slides her hand across his torso, into his coat.
“It’s the thermodynamic measure of the degradation of matter and energy in the universe. To put in another way-” Spencer jumped as she reached into his pocket.
“There’s your gun.”
“You think-”
“Good evening,” the server interrupts him.
“Hi, uh, you know what? We’ve been having so much getting to know one another, we’ll let you know when we’re ready, okay? Thank you.” Cat tells the man. “Now that we got that out of the way, will you do me a favor and tell pretty girl and blondie mcblonderson over there at the bar to disappear?’
“JJ, Y/N, stand down,” JJ and Y/N heard Hotch say through their earpiece.
The two women got up from their seats, and JJ extended her hand to her, Y/N taking her hand in hers. They started towards Spencer and Cat and Y/N kept eye contact with him as they walked past his booth.
“Thanks for playing, girls,” Cat snickered, waving goodbye to them mockingly.
JJ tightened her grip on Y/N‘s hand and she squeezed back. “If she learns how many agents we have outside, she’ll start shooting,” Hotch said. “Dave, get ready to take her out. Reid, do not let her get up from the table.”
-
“She was cute,” Cat said, her eyes trailing over Y/N’s figure. “Too bad I’m stuck with you. She seems like fun,”
She caught Spencer tighten his jaw and hardened his gaze on her. “What’s the matter, Spencie?”
Spencer feels his chest tighten, staying silent for a brief moment. He pushes down the feeling deep inside him and he regains his posture. “Tell me what you want and I’ll see if I can get it here for you.”
“Anything I want?” Cat drawled, smirking as she glanced at Y/N disappearing into the back of the restaurant. Spencer follows her gaze and quirks a brow.
“Off limits.” Spencer deadpanned.
“You’re no fun,” she pouted. “Fine. Is this just a plan to distract me from what is, I’m sure, an impressive law enforcement response just outside that door?”
“That’s the plan.”
“Ok, let’s talk, but let’s talk about something interesting, at least. Tell me about me.”
“You?” He asked her and she nods eagerly in response. “You’re a black widow hit woman. You specialize in seduction and you’re patient. You learn everything you can about the men you’re hired to kill, physically, psychologically, and emotionally because you want them in as compromised a position as possible so they don’t see it coming when you pull the trigger,”
“And when I do it really well, they pull the trigger themselves,” she said, making Spencer raise a brow. “Give me your phone.”
“Why?”
“Because I know what I want now. I wanna play a game with you, do you like games?”
“I do.”
“Do you win?” she challenged.
“I always win.”
“Okay, here's my game, you have 30 minutes to answer every question I ask and if you lie, I’ll know,” Cat explains, pulling up a timer on Spencer’s phone. “Because I spent the past 10 years of my life studying men and their lies before I kill them. Do you believe me?”
“I do.”
“That was true, you’re getting this. Now, here’s how we’ll know who wins at the end of 30 minutes. If you win, you’ll get to drag me out of here in handcuffs. But if I win, you will escort me out like a gentleman, to make sure I exit safely. What do you say, Spencer? Think you can win this one?”
Spencer quirked up a brow and gestured for her to come close. “Considering everything you put Garcia and so many people through, you’re going to have to shoot me in the face before you walk out of here.”
A sly smirk etched onto Cat’s face. “Game on.”
“What do you want to ask me?”
“How you found me, of course,” she presses start on the timer, starting the 30 minutes. “A professional learns from her mistakes.”
“We got our big break in the case at the end of last year. I didn’t learn how big until I came back from some time off,” he clarified.
“Why’d you take time off?”
“That’s not relevant,”
“That's not the game,” she nagged. “You answer every question I ask. Is it a secret?”
“No,”
“Is it dirty?”
Spencer grimaced at her question. “No,”
“Then tell me.” she frowned.
“It’s not important to your story.”
“Out of curiosity, is it me you don't want to tell or the people listening in?”
He tilted his head, remaining eye contact with her, and he glanced down at the ongoing timer. He could do something with this. Stall her, Spencer thought. “Is this really how you want to spend your 30 minutes?”
“Yes,” Cat answered eagerly. “No… Okay, so you showed up for work one morning and..”
“We learned that someone unexpected decided to talk.”
She hummed in response, lightly dragging her finger against the grains of the wood table. “So your job, all you guys do is make deductions based on information that is basically handed to you on a silver platter, no? Are you guys really profilers or are you just lucky? Because this is what I’m about to say is profiling, the reason you took time off from work was to deal with the same girl who broke your heart.” Spencer shook his head, letting Cat continue. “The death of a parent, then.”
“Nope,”
“Ah, hello! I’m getting close. It’s your mom or dad in the billiard room with the candlestick,”
Cat smirks at Spencer’s silence. “Oh, you’re making the same face you made when I mentioned our pretty girl over there… you’re mad at me, aren’t you?” Cat taunts.
“Yes, you are. I can tell.”
“Not even a little bit.”
Spencer leans closer to her, furrowing his brows. “No offense, but you're not really worth getting angry at.”
Cat squints her eyes. “So you figured out what the four of us did, and then what?”
“We profiled that you operated as spokes on a wheel. Somehow it had to be centralized, how you got jobs, who paid you. Somebody did all that for you.”
“You found the Snowman, didn’t you?”
“Mhm,”
“You took the Chemist and the Snowman out of commission, huh?” she scoffed.
“Did you know?”
“I knew something was off. They didn’t bid on some contracts, and this isn't the kind of job where you get to take time off to be with your…” she tilts her head, pursing her lips. “Mother? Is it your mom? It’s gotta be your mom.”
Spencer shrugged in response, and Cat continued. “Why’d you take time off from the FBI?”
“I’m not going to tell you,”
“Spencer, why did you take time off from the FBI?” she enunciated, drawing out each syllable.
“You can ask me as many times as you want, and you can continue to waste your time, but I’m still not going to tell you.”
“Then you’re cheating, and I don’t like cheaters.”
“You don’t get everything you want just because you’re pointing a gun at me under a table. You’re not the first killer to point a gun at me, you’re not even the first woman to point a gun at me. Sorry.” Spencer said sternly.
“You’re really going to take this all the way, aren't you?”
“Yeah,”
“So am I,” Cat challenges. In the corner of her eye she sees a man stand from his seat, her eyebrows knit together and she slides even closer to Spencer. “I’m going to ask you one more time. Before you say no, I want you to consider something,” she reaches to Spencer’s tie, uncovering a small microphone attached. Cat folds the sides and holds it tight in her hand, muffling it. “I’ll kill the fed walking toward me first. A stationary target’s easy to hit after that, it's a free-fire zone.”
“Fine, I’ll tell you,” he gives in.
“Sorry, what was that?”
“I’ll tell you.” Spencer asserts, enclosing Cat’s wrist with his long fingers and setting her own hand in her lap. “Rossi, stand down,” he says and looks over his shoulder, seeing the other man standing over the two. “Please.”
With a nod, Rossi slowly retreats to the team’s designated area. Meanwhile, JJ and Y/N stood impatiently at the kitchen's doors, waiting for the go ahead to move out, but once they saw the familiar tufts of black and gray hair, they were quick to meet Rossi halfway.
“Welcome to the locker room.” JJ huffed.
“I hate the locker room.”
“Ditto.” Y/N added, crossing her arms. The trio stood side by side, trying to stay out of the staff's way as much as possible. After all, they are seating a whole team of FBI agents and one of the most dangerous women in the world. The least they could do is to be polite, right? Y/N peaked out the window of the kitchen door and scanned the tables until she caught eyes with Derek who sent a wink her way. She nodded and retreated back into the kitchen. “Lewis and Morgan are still out there,” she said, claiming her spot besides JJ. “If anything goes wrong, they’ll-”
“Shh…” Rossi hushed, placing his index finger over his lips.
Y/N opened her mouth to speak again, but quickly shuts it when she heard Spencer’s voice through her earpiece.
“My mother has schizophrenia, and the doctor has changed her medication, which seemed to agitate her, so I went to the treatment center to help her,” Spencer said. Y/N touched her earpiece as if it would make her hear him more clearly.
“That’s it?” The three of them heard Cat’s muffled voice.
“That's it.”
“That’s part of the truth, you’re holding something back.”
“It’s the truth.”
“To be clear, you have zero control here. None.” she remarked. “I outflanked you from the beginning.”
“Some of your moves were pretty obvious,”
“Such as?”
“Such as showing up armed, such as changing the venue at the last moment,”
“I needed a restaurant full of innocents in case this was a trap,.” Cat interjected.
“If you really suspected this was a trap, then why show up at all? Even when you first laid eyes on me, from the bar, from outside, from wherever you were, you should have seen through me and kept moving, but didn’t,” he interrogates. “You couldn’t because you can’t get to the man you really want to hurt, so you need to hurt any man who reminds you of him.”
“That’s kind of boilerplate psychology, isn't it?” Cat says, staring at him blankly with tears welling up in her eyes. “I’m just another girl with daddy issues,”
“You’d be surprised how many killers do what they do because of their parents. If it’s so boilerplate, why don’t we test that theory? How hard did you look for him?”
“Very hard.”
“And how disappointed were you when you realized you will never find him? You need some other outlet for your rage and for a while this worked, but it also tripped you up. Can I tell you a little secret? Everything eventually falls apart. The trick is accepting when it’s over.”
On the trio's end, it goes completely silent and the only thing they could hear was the sound of the surrounding kitchen, then suddenly they hear a stopwatch ring. The thirty minutes was up. It’s not going to be that easy, Y/N thought.
“Except it ain't over, is it?” They hear Cat ask.
“Do you really think I’m just going to let you walk out of here?”
Cat leans forward in her seat, staring Spencer down. “You profiled so much about me, except you forgot to ask the most important question. Why would I make you sit here for thirty minutes?”
“Because you’re stalling.” he answers quickly.
“Then you don’t know me at all. Do you think I’d show up here without an escape plan? Or is that just another girl with daddy issues would do? Maybe if you hadn’t fallen victim to your own gender bias — and yes, all men have a gender bias, even you, Dr. Reid — you would have recognized that your entire strategy was based on one faulty detail. Can you see it?”
“You’re not here alone,” Spencer attested, making Y/N and the other’s head perk up.
“And my partner? Less paranoid than you think.”
“You planted a bomb in the building.”
JJ, Y/N, and Rossi looked up at one another at the same moment and were quick to their feet. “We’re on the move.” JJ said.
-
“Wait,” Cat blurted. “Your mother—tell me.”
Spencer caught his lip between his teeth and averted his eyes. “Is—is this apart of the game?”
“No. The game’s over.”
He tightened his fist in the sleeve of his jacket, fiddling with the fabric, and refused to lock eyes with the woman in front of him. “When I looked at her medical chart, it… didn’t make any sense. The medication that they gave her should have been helping, but I couldn’t figure out what was making her so angry. So… I, uh,” he swallows the lump in his throat. “I went to see her. The moment I walked in her room, I saw it. For 3 seconds… she didn’t know who I was. I, um, I had her tested that morning, and I found out that night that she had early onset Dementia. Most likely Alzheimer's.” Spencer sniffled.
On Y/N’s end, the three of them were silent. They stood there in the brooding silence and winced when they heard Cat speak. “Did you get yourself tested?”
“Did you know about this?” JJ whispered to Y/N.
“Not entirely.” she murmured back.
“You were too scared,” Cat said, matter-of-factly.
“I thought I dodged a bullet when I turned 30 and didn’t have a schizophrenic break like her, but this is somehow bigger and scarier because I can actually see it happening. All the memories that we used to share are just dying. I can’t stop it. I can’t help her. All I can do is find people that I can help.” Spencer said, unclenching his fists, and finally meeting her gaze. He was angry, but he didn’t truly know who to be angry at — at Cat for making him spill his guts while his entire team listened in? Or at himself for not trying hard enough to avoid this confrontation? He knew, deep down, that no one was to blame, but in the moment, he’d rather put the blame on something than confront the hurting.
Just as Y/N was about to speak again, a beeping sound came from where they found the bomb and she moved quickly, grabbing Rossi’s and JJ’s wrist and swiftly pulling them along towards safety. “Hotch, she just armed the bomb!”
-
Besides a few disruptions, the team ended the case safely and successfully put both Cat and her partner behind bars. The team went their separate ways with the exception of Derek, Spencer, Y/N, and Penelope. Y/N walked between the two men as they made their way to Derek’s front porch to meet Penelope and Savannah. Y/N’s arms swung slightly as she walked, her hand brushing against Spencer’s a few times, and a frown crept up her face when Spencer defensively tugged his hand closer to him. She stopped for a moment, and they followed her lead.
“So…” Derek starts. “You two want to come in, decompress a bit?’
Y/N and Spencer glanced at each other for a brief moment, waiting for the other to speak first.
“I’m good.”
“I would love to.”
They said in unison.
“I’m probably just gonna go home,” Spencer said, clearing his throat and shuffling his feet across the pavement.
“You sure?” Y/N pouted.
“It was an intense case, kid.” Derek added.
“Yeah… it was. It’s over now, the network is down.”
“Spence,” Y/N says quietly, stepping closer to him. “That medical research I asked you about… was that..”
“Yeah.” he whispered, his eyebrows knitting together.
“You are going to get tested, aren’t you?” Derek asked him.
Spencer lets out a soft exhale and tries to look anywhere but their eyes. “One of the data points that her research told me about was age. I’m, uh, too young to display chromosomal signs, so I’m just gonna have to… learn to live without knowing.”
“Spence…”
“Oh, my god!” They heard Garcia squeal from the porch.
“Oh, hey, hey, hey, what is happening here?” Derek swoops to catch her stumbling down the front steps.
Spencer peeks in front of him, catching a glimpse of a very drunk Penelope Garcia. A wide smile flickers across his face, the dimples in his cheeks looking more prominent under the streetlights. And Y/N can’t help but stare at him in awe. She loves seeing Spencer so happy; he deserves it. He’s told her stories about his past traumas and Y/N wished she could take away all his pain, all of his hurting. Spencer took a quick glance at Y/N when he felt eyes on him, and she giggled at the light pink growing on the apples of his cheeks.
“You’re what’s going on! Right now is what’s—You are here! Do you know what’s happening right now?” Penelope exclaimed, placing her hands on Derek's biceps. “It is- It is done! The dirty dozen is done!”
Spencer let out a loud laugh, making Y/N quickly look at him, and this time, he started laughing harder when they met eyes. Y/N couldn’t contain the feeling in her heart, smiling harder than she’s had in a while, but she jumps when she feels a hand engulf hers. Her eyes trailed down her arm to her hand and looked up to Spencer with beaming eyes. She squeezed his hand, rubbing her thumb along his knuckles.
“—I love you,” Penelope says endearingly to Derek, then points to Spencer and Y/N behind him. “And you two! I love you guys so much!”
Penelope grabbed Y/N’s free hand, engulfing her in a hug. She hugged back with the same amount of force, and Penelope pulled away for a moment to bring in Savannah. “I should be jealous of you because you two are so hot, but I’m not. I’m not. I promise, I’m not! ‘Cause you know what? All I feel inhere is love. I am feeling full of love! So much love. I’m wearing too many clothes.” she spins on her heels, hurriedly making her way back inside. Y/N hid a giggle behind her palm and continued after her, wrapping an arm around her waist to keep her steady.
“We got this.” Savannah told Derek and Spencer through giggles.
“Bye, Spence!” Y/N shouted from inside the house.
Spencer's smile widened and in the moment, all he could feel was love. No hurting, no anger, just love for the people he cares for most. Regardless of what happened today, he knew that everything was going to be okay. It had to be okay.
