Thinking about the exquisite imagery of Bucky shaving his mustache, while in contrast Buck let’s his scruff grow in. I can see it so clearly: Bucky shaves the ‘stach when they’re in the POW camp as a result of losing a bet (it’s highly probable he lost of purpose because he wants to give the men an opportunity to laugh it up). But it totally goes sideways once it becomes clear how young he looks without it. Buck on the other hand is stressing over this new change enough to forget to shave for a few weeks straight. Is this brain rot due to me thinking about Callum’s look in the Green Room combined with Austin’s look in the Bikeriders? Yes. Please send help.

okay, while i PERSONALLY am in love with bucky's stache and feel like shaving it even in fiction would be an absolute travesty, i see the vision and i agree, i could totally see something like that happening.

john does it as a joke/for a bet and figures that hey, they're all gonna be stuck in the camp for a while anyway, chances are it'll grow back by the time it really matters. no big deal, and it gets laughs in a place where those are increasingly rare, even if he has to suffer through relentless teasing about his baby face for a few weeks.

gale does not deal with it nearly as well, however; it throws off any routine he's built and it feels ridiculous because it's just facial hair but it's such a big change after the monotony of day–to–day behind the fence that it's enough to rattle his brain. and letting his own facial hair grow out probably isn't even a conscious choice, almost like a mindless way of falling back into sync with john as both of theirs grows back.

if buckbucky is an established thing in this verse, we all know damn well john would be obsessed with gale's scruff, rubbing his own cheek up against it like a cat, thirsting over it and ogling him 24/7.

and the way it feels against his thighs, stubble burn leaving the sensitive skin a pretty pink when gale's face is between his legs...

john would be devastated and pouty when it comes time for him to finally shave it, but gale would promise him "when we get out, i'll let it grow back for a bit, yeah?" and that would perk him right up. <3

real quick before i jump into asks, i have sooo many about spanking/gale domming john/discipline etc, that sorta thing, since we were HEAVY on that topic the other day LOL

and i'm having so much fun with it BUT also wanted to say, the more i write their characters/just internalize their vibes, form little backstories in my head based off tidbits of info we get from the show (namely the bit where gale talks about a rough childhood and we're left to fill in a lot of blanks), the more my view shifts on things and i think that's lovely, so!!

i think like in genuine raw canon (except where this relationship still exists lol), i can't see gale ever properly laying a hand on john (ie: spanking, slapping, etc), even in a scene, even if john reallyyyyy begs for it. i feel like we see time and time again he's too gentle for violence, even if it's in good fun between the two of them, and i've written about this in the past, about it coming down to his childhood.

how him and john may have had similar upbringings; strict fathers (or worse) were an even more common experience then. but because of how gale and john are, i feel like they internalized that differently, with john seeking comfort from violence/chaos and gale seeking comfort from gentleness/routine.

realistically, i see gale finding ways to discipline that don't involve active 'violence', no matter how much john craves it, because, at least when john is in a place of self sabotage, gale doesn't want to contribute to that. but he also doesn't want john to seek it out from a less safe method, so he finds other ways to give him what he craves, other ways to 'hurt' without having to actively hurt, if that makes sense. it's interesting to think about!

all that being said, in a universe where i ignore my like base headcanons about them, i love to think about all the stuff we brainrot about and how it would play out and delving into it while staying as true to their characterization as possible. if i were to write a longform fic, i wouldn't include like half the stuff we yap about together in asks, but we're just brainrotting for funzies/for oneshot purposes on here so anything flies and i have fun making up little scenarios. just wanted to actually tackle the "would he do this canonically" question because i really enjoy picking apart him and john as characters. :^)

tldr; overall if we're just yapping in brainrot posts, i'm not too bothered about certain canon–aspects as long as i manage to keep them mostly in character <3 and i'd love to hear other people's takes on this stuff or anything we all brainrot about here!!

So Batfamily fandom assemble I need you all to be real with me. I haven't been following the comics of the mainline family at all since 2021. Is Gotham Wars actually worth it to pick up because the art alone is amazing, especially as of late. However I've been seeing a lot of drama boiling from the Jason Todd/Selina Kyle Catwoman sides of the fandom. I almost don't want to know if it's worth getting invested in the story for that alone but I need to know honestly opinions.

Well the bad news is, when I went into town in a brand new outfit feeling masc as hell, I then got she/her’d at every turn for three hours straight. I’ve been practicing walking with confidence and my shoulders held back and it still wasn’t enough. A guy in the mall even high-fived me and said “Yeah, girlfriend, love to see it!” (I had no idea who he was or what he was referring to, but the vibes were good, so I cheered with him. 😆)

But the good news! I got myself a new perfume (Vanilla Fig by The Good Scent — fucking LOVE finding new TGS fragrances!), and Bath and Body Works was having a sale on body mists, so I got my favorite fragrance from them in mist form (Vanilla Romance; I now have it in perfume, mist, lotion, and hand cream~). And since my binder is great at compressing everything EXCEPT my chest, I grabbed some small, flat sports bras to hopefully hold everything in place a little better.

Now I’m taking a nap/mildly dysphoric sulk break. We bounce right back as soon as I’m up again!
