"Red" Peterson (birth name Henry) lived a difficult life. Initially ostracized and isolated from his birth family for his artistic ability (and later homosexuality), he raised himself, working and paying his own bills since the young age of 12. He was in and out of institutions for manic depression and suicidal ideation, and because of this he was unable to serve in the army during WWII, instead working manual labor on tank production lines to help the war cause as best he could. He found himself working a desk job at a call center post-war and would often drain his sorrows in local pubs and clubs- he had an affinity for a lesser-known club with performers and occasional open mic nights, where he'd perform his passion- writing little songs and rhymes for children's entertainment. It was in this club he met Roy, a producer at a studio, who took him under his wing to begin production on the show Red always dreamed of. The dream went awry quick, though, in 1955, when shortly after the show blew up, Roy's (ex)wife Lesley went to Red, begging him to help get her son David out of the abuse that Roy was putting him through at home and in the studio. He gave the police an anonymous tip after deliberating for a while. Roy was questioned by police, but ultimately released, and upon finding out that Red was the mole, he took him to a lake for 'location scouting,' handcuffed him, and pushed him under, leaving him to drown.

one of the most important things terry pratchett has taught me is that it's okay to be angry. no one has ever said that to me before. he taught me that anger was an engine. that you can use that anger. that it goes hand in hand with love. he taught me to never underestimate my anger, because it's one of my strongest points. he taught me genuine anger was one of the world’s great creative forces. he taught me i shouldn't be fighting my anger, but what caused it. he himself said rage underlines everything he wrote. i never heard anger talked about so openly like that before and it's freeing, i suppose, to realize you are truly, truly not alone in your rage at the world. you never were.

i always feel bad when i see how the point of a lot of saiki's personality traits flew right over the heads of a lot of fans due to him being an unreliable narrator and a tsundere lol.. so a lot of things he says are immediately proved to be untrue and often just him putting up a front, but some people dont pick up on it..

like i see a lot of "haha saiki would never want to watch a romance movie" guys there is an entire chapter (170) dedicated to him being like "i much prefer mysteries to romance stories.." and then immediately becoming absolutely enamored with a romance story.. he was lying, guys, LMAO

less specific ones include:

"i hate children, they annoy me" *goes out of his way to help kids, comfort them, be kind to them, etc.*

"i only use my powers for self gain/my own convenience." "anyway my mama told me to never use my powers selfishly so i always use them to help people and i try my best not to use them for personal gain<3"

"those guys are so annoying, i would never hang out with them willingly." "yeah it took them about two sentences to convince me to go with them. their thoughts seemed like they really wanted me to go, so i did. i didnt want them to be upset. not that i care about them or anything."

(sorry i post about this kind of thing a lot, i just giggle a lot at how the entire manga is so easily misinterpreted and thousands of people have watched the show but didnt pick up on the main characters most defining character traits and frequent bits.. i think there needs to be a masterlist or something disproving all the extremely common misconceptions about saiki k lol)

Some Bucktommy moments we didn't focus on because we were too busy complaining about the people complaining about our ship:

- Buck meeting a guy and wanting to spend time with him and the best option he could come up with was to ask him for a tour of his workplace

- Buck asking Tommy to be his date at his sister's wedding after exactly 1 date

- Buck kissing Tommy like he was trying to merge their bodies together😂

- Maddie telling her husband that Buck and Tommy were a thing before his amnesia, implying that Buck and Tommy have been a thing for some time now (She could have said, it's still new, but she acted like Chimney had know for a while and had forgotten it)

- Bobby thinking Buck was going to Tommy's place, as if it happens regularly

- Tommy and Buck having dinner at Buck's place, and the whole scene only lasting 1 minute showing that this wasn't a huge scene or big step, it just means that Tommy is regularly at Buck's place and having dinner.
