tagged by @st-justt-just these are always an issue for me because i dont have a "Playlist" of any kind, i just let youtube put together playlists on my recomendations page so with that in mind, lets see what comes up.
Bradinsky on violin - [tetris tengen] by bradis fuller - funny thing about this, you may hear it and think "ah yes, a song inspired by classical russian folk music". in reality is a fully original song made by the composer. hence the BRAD-insky.
Ya te vas a mejorar (speed up) - el cuarteto de nos - i like this version of the song about a guy who gets brain damage and becomes a chainsaw murderous maniac over the original. is not quite nightcore but its certainly more energetic.
Aikendrum - Ewan Maccoll - i got this out of a cute webcomic about jekyll and hyde. i have no idea what this song is about but i sure do love the scottishness of it all. aikendrum aikendrum is a great catchphrase.
As your father i expressly forbit it - Neil cicierega - the theme of this song is so weird for a neil cicierega song. is about such a intimate, mundane topic and the double punch of this and earn my life is actually kind of brutal to hear in spirit phone.
Noches de boda - Joaquin sabina - i fucking love the intro of this song by chavela vargas, i remember when i first heard this song i thought it was some old guy but no it was one of the most famous female singers from mexico. as an argentinian there is something delightful about hearing a spaniard and a mexican singing together like old friends. great fucking song to sing drunk out of your ass at 4 in the morning
El cisne que ladra - maria elena walsh - my love for children songs continues undaunted, specially the songs by elena walsh. there is something very otherverse about this song in particular because its about a thieving swan who goes to a lake one night and steals a treasure hidden in that lake. then the next morning when the sun comes out you cant see the treasure anymore because the swan stole it but it turns out the treasure were the night stars being reflected on the lake, its just so beautifully poetic
California heaven [mashup of california girls by kathy perry and heaven by envy, plus a bunch of other songs] - Jason rollins - i just discovered this guy a few weeks ago because he just started doing this a few months ago and he turned out to be such an incredibly strong entry in the genre of weird, deep fried, dense mashups. i highly reccomend to listen to the rest of his channel
Octopus garden -the beatles - i saw a documentary about why the beatles broke up recently and knowing that this song was composed by ringo as the team was going through deep tensions and fights about to separate makes this song so much more heartbreaking. ringo just wanted for him and his friends to get along and be happy on an octopus garden beneath the sea. jesus dude, me too.
Desaparecido - Manu chao - weirdly political song for what i usually listen to. a song about the experience of illegal immigrants living in the united states without papers. one funny thing about manu chao is that he is famous for many spanish songs that talk about the hardships of the latin american experience and the guy is fucking french. i genuenly could not have been able to tell just from listening to him.
Brindo por las mujeres - Los rodrigez - just a fantastic song by one of my favourite singers from my country, andres calamero. another great fucking drinking song to yell drunk off your ass with friends at 4 in the morning and frankly a great way to end this list
honestly i am rather proud of how incredibly ecclectic is this list, i think this is a pretty good crossection of the wide range of my musical tastes
im tagging @not-terezi-pyrope @ericvilas and @mrcatfishing

| "Me Gustas Tu" | Edward x Boco | TTTE Fanfic |
It was a normal day like any other day in the goregus summertime of Sodor, clear blue skies, warm air, sparkiling ocean, you name it. The island was Paradise.
The engines were hard at work as per usual, Thomas taking his daily passenger train up and down his branchline, Gordon running across the island with the express, James sunbathing after taking a coal train, a normal summer day.
Edward was resting in his shed, when Boco arrived.
"Hey Ted,"
"Hello Boco," Edward gave Boco a warm smile.
"Sorry if this is random but you wanna go for a run up and down Ducks branchline with me? I heard it's beautiful there during the summer"
"I'd be honoured Boco" Edward started up, happily letting of some steam.
Boco smiled as Edward followed behind him. They went from brendham, to kanpford, to tidmouth, and then through the tunnel that started ducks branchline.
The two engines marvelled in the beauty of the ocean and the beach. Thats when Edward got an idea.
"Boco?"
"Hm?"
"There's this game, I've wondered if you've heard of it, it's called me gustas,"
"I don't think I have?"
"Well, bassicly you just say me gustas and then whatever you like, and the other person has to say me gustas and then something they like thats similar to what the person said, and it goes on like that,"
Boco thought about it for a moment, and smirked.
"You're on"
Edward grinned, with a cheeky shine in his eyes.
"Allow me to start. Me Gustas el océano"
"Uh... I dunno much spanish-"
"That's alright, you can say what you like in english,"
"Hm.. Me gustas las clouds!"
"Me gustas.. uh.. el sky!"
"Me gustas blue," Boco had a smug smile on his face, with a faint blush on his cheeks.
Edward was thinking. "How how about Boco.. we say our favourite thing together?"
"Sounds fair,"
"3.. 2.. 1..."
"Me gustas tu-"
"Me gustas tu-"
The two just stared at eachother for a moment, realizing they just both confessed to eachother that they liked eachother in spanish.
Edward started to luagh, Boco however just blushed.
"Heh! You dunno how long I've wanted to say that to you!"
"Well.. I have liked you for like- ever now..."
"So.. what are we..?"
"A couple"
"No shit HAHA-"
"pFFFFTT-"
The two luaghed for a moment, before Edward looked over at Boco.
"Gracias, Mi corazón.."
Boco just smiled and leaned into Edward.
"Anytime.."
💚💙
A/N : Holy shit I've wanted to write about these two for so long. Wow. But yeah, this story was inspired by one of my favourite songs! Me Gustas Tu by Manu Chao, this song inspired me to ask my family to have a holiday in spain, and I might learn the language too! :D
Also, this isn't set in any of my AUs, it was more or less some writing practice based off of a song i love
But yeah, plus it's pride month, So why not write about the gay old men? I love them so much frfr, but yeah I hope you all like this!

@stelly38 asked me:
ooooh, that's going to be fun, thank you!!! Here we go. [Edit: this is going to be long]
Top 10 worst moments in American History
Alright, I'm French and Moroccan. American bashing is like, encoded in my DNA, lmao. Also I've studied History but I'm a Literature specialist, so.
10. the Kardashians. Why are you making us suffer these guys? Please stop. 9. Reagan's administration, how AIDs was handled. 8. the assassination of John Lennon. What the hell, USA? What did Lennon eve do to you? 7. the assassination of MLK. That one is unforgivable. And obviously, George Floyd, Emmett Till... Remember their names. 6. the imperialism in Middle East. That one is not just on you guys, but dammit, you are digging your own grave. And taking the rest of the arabo-muslim world with you. 5. creating Ben Ladden, the war in Irak. Do you guys realize that if Bush hadn't gone to Afghanistan and tried to imperialize it, we wouldn't have the so-called "war on terror" now? 4. the entire Vietnam war. Napalm and senseless violence and the constant glorification of war ever since. 3. bombing Japan. What the hell was that about, Truman? (aka you watched Oppenheimer this summer) 2. Trump. That was like. Globally traumatizing. The whole thing. The heck were you guys thinking? Macron is horrible but Trump was like, majorly nightmarish. 1. the colonization and genocide of the Natives. I know Colombus is not your fault, but everything that happened and keeps happening now. As another indigenous people (North Africa's original people, the Amazighs), I feel a great kinship with the Native Americans. Though to be fair my people has not been as exterminated and pushed back to the recesses of history like you. But yeah, I really think the most important conversation the US should be having today is about the Natives, their lands, their rights, their history, their culture, their justice... I think your country can only progress if it faces its own history and this history starts and ends with its native people.
Oof, let's get into something a bit more light-hearted!
Top 5 favorite songs ever
List changes all the time. Let's see the ones that stay always, the classic ones that almost never make the list because they've been with me for so long.
5. Renaud, Société tu m'auras pas. A classic from my childhood. Anarchist French angry song, anti-society, anti-capitalism... Used to jump and shout the chorus with my brother when I was under 6, visiting my paternal grandfather in the house my father grew up. 4. U2, Magnificent. There was a period in my early teenage years where my mother, my middle sister and I would often drive from the city to the village and back every other week-end, a sort of mini road-trip (60kms only), and we'd listen with my mother this U2 album. 3. Dire Straits, Romeo and Juliet. At this point, everyone who knows me a little knows of my huge obsession for R&J, that started when I was barely 10. This song is everything to me. Also Dire Straits is a shared taste with a part of my maternal family. 2. Manu Chao, Clandestino. My mother is a Spanish teacher, Spain is on the way between France and Morocco. Spanish's always been one of the languages spoken in my house, despite none of us being actually, you know, Spanish. Been hearing this song for as long as I can remember. 1. Anne Sylvestre, Les grands migrateurs. Anne Sylvestre is a French singer (she died this year) who did feminist songs in the 60s-80s, and also various tapes of nursery rhyme (kinda) for kids. This one is about migratory birds. I used to listen to these K7 all the time as a child.
Top 5 favorite desserts
I have a huge sweet tooth!
5. Lemon pie. 4. Red fruit cheesecake. 3. Apple pie. 2. Chocolat mousse. 1. Chocolate cake (marble cake, brownie, classic gâteau... If it's chocolate, it goes in).
#alright thank you for the list of asks that was actually helpful in getting me to stop freaking out#nervous breakdown avoided#replies#top 5 asks#rapha talks#us history#top 5 songs#top 5 desserts

Promo "Rosenrot" (2005), Olivier Riedel and Till Lindemann — Interview by Phil Lageat and Olivier Rouhet, 05-09-2005 (Rock Hard #048)
Rock Hard : [...] At the time of interviewing Till Lindemann (vocals) and Oliver Riedel (bass) - Paul Landers and Christoph Schneider are also present, but answer other stores - several questions are bothering us... because we are worried. We start by taking news of the band, which recently canceled dates in Asia and South America.
Oliver Riedel : Till injured his knee during the concert in Gothenburg (Sweden) during a collision with Flake, hence the cancellation of the Asian dates. Then Flake caught a childhood illness. He is currently confined to a hospital bed with mumps. Not exactly dramatic, but he could only hear with one ear, which was rather annoying. So we had to postpone the South American dates. Nothing serious...
RH : The fact of recording in Berlin, and not abroad, as usual, in a short period of time, has put on the shoulders of the musicians an increased and useless pressure ?
Oliver : Yes, absolutely ! It's the first time we've recorded in Berlin, at home, and I'm not sure, looking back, that it was a good idea. Our families living nearby, we might tend to look at our watches whenever we had a break : What am I doing ? Do I take the opportunity to drop by home ? As a result, we were necessarily less focused and it was almost impossible for us to be there 100%.
Till Lindemann : More pressure ? Yes and no. Usually we like to work in a relaxed and mellow atmosphere, which we did when recording Reise Reise in Spain. In Berlin, it was quite different, because we worked 12 to 14 hours a day. And we did feel time pressures. It was a pretty intense creative process, which is why this album is quite special and out of the ordinary. I wouldn't say I'm proud of this record - it might be a bit too much - but I'm very happy with it nonetheless.
RH : [...] It seems that this extreme fatigue is not just physical. Admittedly, lately, they do a lot of albums and concerts, but we remember the tensions born during the gestation of Mutter. How can we not think, for a moment, that the Rammstein machine did not exhaust the friendship that bound the members of the group, to the point that they feel the occasional need to no longer see each other ? Have they learned to manage their friction in order to get off to a better restart ?
Oliver : It's true, I admit, we are washed out, burnt out. This is the reason why we are considering this prolonged hiatus... During the Mutter era, we did face some personal problems and we had to distance ourselves from each other. Then, we got closer and managed the conflicts that opposed us. Today, the atmosphere within the band is excellent, but we want to take this break to rest physically. In theory, we're looking at a hiatus of almost a year. But, who knows, maybe we'll meet beforehand to rehearse if the urge arises. And it is already planned that we meet to shoot two or three music videos which should illustrate the next singles of the album. To summarize, these three days of promotion, a few videos, and basta ! I love surfing and I am thinking of going around the beaches with my little van, just to see the country. Is it still possible that we go on vacation together ? (smile) No, I don't think so... Two or three of us, yes, but not the others.
RH : But let's stop complaining, and let's go back, along with Till, to his texts, often encrypted and regularly tackling “taboo” subjects (homosexuality in “Mann Gegen Mann”, our primary instincts in “Zerstören”, etc.)
Till : Journalists always want to know what is the deep meaning of my texts. Personally, I find it much more interesting that my words appeal to the imagination of listeners, that they interpret them in their own way. It is for this reason that I don't wish to submit my point of view : it would then be rehashed, no room would be left to the imagination. But back to "Rosenrot" : it is a very old word. "Reise, Reise", which dealt with the life of sailors, was also intended to be a reference to Herman Melville's novel, Moby Dick. Our choruses are always composed of simple words, but very strong, like "Sehnsucht" or "Du Hast". "Rosenrot" is color as a sign. With the Brothers Grimm, it is about a girl : in the song, the latter drops a rose from a cliff and asks her lover to go and get it back so that he can prove his love to her. But the unfortunate falls... and kills himself. Outside of Rammstein, I write collections of poems. It has nothing to do with writing song lyrics. It's not going to sound very serious, but I'm saying it anyway. Writing a poem is actually quite simple : you just have to drink a few good glasses of wine and let your imagination run wild (laughs). Writing the text of a song is much more difficult : your lyrics must stick with precise stanzas, a chorus, a metric that is imposed on you. And a guitarist just has to tell me "wait, I'm going to slip three more notes over here, so you need three more words!" And everything has to be redone... It may be that these three fucking words require me three months of work. Poetry is pure pleasure, the text of a song is real work.
RH : If there is one title that emerges from Rosenrot, it is the excellent "Te Quiro Puta", sung in Spanish. Does Till have a soft spot for South American music ? The answer may surprise :
Till : Not that I like a particular song, it's those popist salsa beats that go straight into the blood, that your body can't resist, that I like. What artists like Joachim Sabena and Manu Chao are doing is fantastic. The others like it less, but recently, in backstages, I was making them listen to Sonora Palacio, classical Chilean music, with trumpets and everything. And gradually, I ended up making them totally addicted... When will a song in French ??? Very soon, I hope ! (laughs)

Well, alright!
Asks. Well!
Thanks go to the excellent @wildwood-faun!
1. Nickname: Well, they don’t tend to stick for very long, but... if anything, one of the monikers that has remained would be the silly misspelling of my name as “Chewster”. Couple of friends use it from time to time. But generally my name is uncommon enough all by itself.
2. Zodiac sign: Aries. My mum likes to point this out, whenever I exhibit some attribute that can even remotely be tied to this.
3. Height: 184 cm. Pretty much average, although, I suppose, sufficiently taller than the median that I count as ‘tall’ more often than not. I think. Come to think of it, I’m not sure exactly how they collect the data on average or median height...
4. Hogwarts house: Strictly Ravenpuff.
5. Last thing I googled: a good US/UK to metric units kitchen conversion chart.
6. Favourite musicians : Dear me, I’m... I really haven’t been listening to music very much at all lately, for some reason. Still, these days, Slowgold, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Souljazz Orchestra and Manu Chao.
7. Song stuck in my head: The intro theme to Star Trek: TNG.
8. Following now: Oh, er... 52? I Think that’s more than enough!
9. Followers: 16. I’m very humble.
10. Do I get asks: Heh nah.
11. Amount of sleep: I think about seven hours and a half, maybe, although I was extremely tired today and had a like two hour afternoon nap as well.
12. Lucky number: Don’t know man, I’ve been heads down in maths textbooks for years and I still haven’t found one.
13. What I’m wearing: White button down shirt, brown canvas trousers and a threadbare pinstripe vest. Really gotta sew another one.
14. Dream job: I’m not sure, although, something creative, analytical and somewhat independent would fit the bill nicely. Being a millenial snowflake, I’d like there to be some point to it as well.
15. Dream trip: Totally would love to return to Ireland and see the country, not just Dublin. I’ve a strange hankering for a coast to coast drive across the U.S, too, for some weird reason, although I suspect I might not like it after all. I think I’d like to go across Russia by the trans-siberian rail as well.
16. Favourite food: Well, ‘taters and beets and carrots and apples and stuff cooked and then fried in the oven does it. I’ve never acquired any very acquired tastes. I’m decried as a culinary barbarian by a friend, but I say in my defense that I at least never eat fast food.
17. Instruments: Piano. I’ve got a guitar, but... well. Really, ought to play on it more often!
18. Languages: Fluent in Swedish and English. I get by okay listening to Norwegian, less so with Danish. Both are still readable. I’ve some basic reading and listening comprehension in Spanish. A few puny scraps of Mandarin, too. As a recent development, I’ve become enamored with Irish, and I really would like to learn some...
19. Favourite song: Oh, er... no, No, I don’t really do those.
20. Random fact: my grandfather managed to launch into the air and subsequently detonate a jar of the infamous swedish surströmming, more or less poisoning the air around my grandparents summer house for several days. This was more or less normal and usual for him. I think I’ve inherited a lot from the man.
21. Aesthetic:
the wind in the willows
early 20th century socialist workers’ self education society
star maps and the dark blue-green of clear evenings
heavy wooden furniture
tagging @wildwood-faun. Say, @sarahaughton, @klarastjarnljus, entirely up to you of course if you’d care to do this sort of thing, but I’d enjoy reading it in any case!.

Some of My Favorite Artists/Bands That Need More Apprectiation
(So if you need more music to get into, please check these guys out~)
~ Björk ~ Electronic, Pop, and Alternative Music ~
My favorite kind of artists can make two or more songs that sound completely different from one another and Björk definitely does that~ And to add to the uniqueness, you can hear her emotions flood through her singing and music - you can hear the story she’s trying to share with the world, which is amazing~ It’s been only about a few months since I’ve gotten into her unique music and I’ve been inspired to write both stories and music based off her powerful emotions~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Joga”, “Play Dead”, “Venus As a Boy”, “Cocoon”
~ Rufus Wainwright ~ Alternative and Pop Music ~
One of my favorite artists I got to see perform live~ He sung about death, love, and politics loudly and beautifully while playing piano or guitar~ Of course, I first found out about this gay boi from Shrek with the iconic song “Hallelujah” and as I explored more of his music, I realized he has a trait I love to hear from musicians: he puts in a lot of energy, passion, and emotions in each of his songs~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk”, “Foolish Love”, “Evil Angel”, “Poses”
~ Andrew Bird ~ Alternative Music ~
I first heard of this violinist thanks to Jamie Hewlett (co creator of The Gorillaz, who I’ll talk about down below)~ He posted a video of Andrew’s iconic song “Pulaski At Night” on his instagram. As a violinist myself, it was hard not to fall in love with Andrew’s calm and pretty music~ Also, he’s a very good whistler, which just makes his folk and alternative songs all the more better~ I’m always inspired by the beautiful tones Andrew can create and I really hope I can see him perform sometime~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Pulaski At Night”, “Scythian Empires”, “Roma Fade” (and “The Cormorants” if you want to listen to something experimental or just the river)
~ Manu Chao ~ Latin Alternative and World Music ~
The oldest artist on this list, I’ve been singing along to Manu’s songs since I was a toddler~ He sings in Spanish, French, and English and usually changes between languages while singing and playing guitar~ Although most of his songs are Latin-inspired and his songs can sound similar to each other, Manu still creates v e r y catchy rhythms and beats with each song~ Also, Manu repeats words frequently, so you can pick up a bit of Spanish or French just from one of his songs~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Bongo Bong”, “Clandestino”, “Trapped By Love”, “Luna y sol”
~ Gorillaz ~ Honestly Every Genre Ever ~
My absolute favorite band of all time~ It’s been about three years now that I’ve loved 2D, Russel Hobbs, Noodle, Murdoc Niccals, and their music (and of course, the creators of the Gorillaz, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett) ~ Currently 1/3 of my music are their songs and I’ve written a 95 page story based off them and their music~ I’ve gained friends because of this flawed and unique band and I’ve been constantly inspired by them and their diverse music~ I can’t wait to see what else they hold for the future~ <3
Some Songs I Recommend: “Hong Kong”. “Dirty Harry”, “Revolving Doors”, “5/4″, “The Apprentice”, “Empire Ants”
~ Pogo ~ Electronic Music ~
A.K.A Nick Bertke - Honestly, I just recently found out this Australian is not the best person, yet I’m still in love with his passionate music~ How he can take any random sample, whether it’s from Disney or off the streets, and create mesmerizing and catchy music with other random samples will always amaze me~ Most of his songs are always great to listen to alone or in a peaceful area where you can relax~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Forget”, “Undone”(for those who like creepy and experimental music~), “Wave”, “Alice”
~ Beck ~ Honestly Every Genre (again) ~
Another artist I’ve been singing along to since I was a toddler, I believe Beck sparked my love for different music (honestly, he’s the king of odd music and rhyming)~ I’ve always loved how Beck’s music tells a different story for each song and how he can easily create catchy rhythms and odd sounds that sound magnificent together~ This is another artist I would l o v e to see live sometime~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Up All Night”, “Que Onda Guero”, “Motorcade”, “Soul Suckin Jerk”, “Broken Train”, “Minus” (I have 30+ Beck songs which is why there’s more than three songs recommended)
~ Squirrel Nut Zippers ~ Jazz Music ~
More artists I got to see live (and for the first, they actually came to where I live instead of me having to go to them) and might I say they were spectacular~ It wasn’t even Mardi Gras, but it totally felt like it in that small theater~ The guy in the red in the center, Jimbo, wore giant masks and danced as if in a ritual and it looked like he had the time of his life~ The woman next to him, Cella, dressed like a Cougar and sang like Billie Holiday~ And the violinist, Dr.Sick (<3), performed tricks like the splits, minor burlesque with his leg, and he went full on crazy while still playing violin - I was s o impressed~ Anyway, this jazz/blues/New Orleans band is crazy and fun and I absolutely love them~ (also fun fact, before Dr.Sick, Andrew Bird was their violinist~)
Some Songs I Recommend: “Axman Jazz (Don’t Scare Me Papa)”, “Hell”, “Ghost of Stephen Foster”, “Put a Lid on It”
~ Adam Hurst ~ Classical Music ~
He is the only one of my favorite artists I got to meet in person, and in no less an airport (and I’m eternally grateful that he agreed to take a picture)~ He performed his gypsy cello, which he crafted with his own two hands, amazingly~ In every song of his, he always plays beautiful cello melodies with another instrument whether it’s accordion, chimes, guitar, or piano~ I would l o v e to meet him and see him perform again in the future~
Some Songs I Recommend: “Ritual”, “Midnight Waltz”, “Midnight Sun”, “Sparrow”
If you have any artists you think deserve more appreciation or recognition, reblog or comment and talk about them~!
#man this took forever to make#but i l o v e them a l l and they all deserve more love#at least for their music~#and thank you for reading this l o n g post#Björk#adam hurst#manu chao#squirrel nut zippers#gorillaz#andrew bird#beck hansen#pogo#rufus wainwright#i might add to this post later on#music#alternative#pop#jazz#world#electronic#classical

23, 26 and 29 please?
23. three songs that never fail to get you pumped up
I Won’t Say I’m In Love - Hercules Soundtrack. Iconic pump up song, come on. I can yell-scream all the parts of this song.
Read My Mind - The Killers While Mr. Brightside always pumps me up (it’s the law), this song is tied so specifically to events in 2007, back when I was competing, and I remember singing this to my horse as we ran cross country, and god, it was fun.
I Love It - Charli XCX. This was one of my old krav teachers favorite songs to play in class. It is forever associated with that.
26. three favourite non-English songs
all my non-English songs are Spanish, holla
Tu No Eres Para Mi - Fanny Lu. I learned about this song when studying abroad in Costa Rica. Hella catchy.
Te Amo - Makano. Another song found in Costa Rica.
Me Gustas Tu - Manu Chao. We listened to this song in a Spanish class and it got hella stuck in my head.
29. three songs that influenced you most (some songs change or save lives)
Thick As A Brick - Jethro Tull. This song is one of my favorites of all time. I bonded with a friend over it. I’ve made two separate trips to see it performed live (an incredible moment each time, as this song is 45 minutes long, performed by a relatively obscure 70s band - I never thought I would see it performed live ever, much less twice).
A Fine, Fine Line - Avenue Q Soundtrack. I was in a toxic relationship, knowing I should break up, that it only caused me pain. This song comes up on shuffle, and somehow the lyrics “And I don’t have the time to waste on you anymore/I don’t think that you even know what you’re looking for/For my own sanity I’ve gotta close the door/And walk away” just…pierced me. Arrow to the heart. Unfortunately, it didn’t make me break up immediately with that person, but it helped.
Alexander Hamilton - Hamilton Soundtrack. The first time I listened to this was a YouTube video. I was obsessed halfway through the song. I listened to the soundtrack and cried. This spawned a years-long obsession, including a visit to New York to see the original cast (#blessed), and my creation and (now!) completion of a 100k fanfic (plus several others).

Isaac and Nora, two French children who sweep recovering Latin songs.
Quimper (France), Jun 16 (EFE) .- Two years ago an improvised recording of the habanera “Veinte años” made them a viral phenomenon, but unlike Buena Vista Social Club or María Teresa Vera, these singers only have 10 and 13 years old, a young age at which the French Isaac and Nora have already released their first album.
Since 2019, their videos have added millions of views and have about a million and a half followers on Facebook, conquered by the sweet voice of Nora, the sound of Isaac’s trumpet and the accompaniment of his father, Nicolas, who has transmitted love to them. by the classics of Latin music.
The last song is “Hasta la Root”, an adaptation by the Mexican Natalia Lafourcade, published in a video clip this Wednesday, which is a more modern introduction to a repertoire full of tributes to Violeta Parra, Julio Jaramillo, Facundo Cabral, Luis Demetrio, María Teresa and Agustín Lara or Manu Chao.
“Our first song in Spanish was ‘Lágrimas Negras’. ‘Twenty years’ was just a rehearsal in the garden, we hadn’t worked on it much. Then we uploaded the video to YouTube and it was very successful,” says Nora, who has just celebrated her 10 years, in an interview with EFE.
Although they do not speak Spanish, they have improved it thanks to the songs: “We look at the lyrics, we look at how the singer pronounces and then we try to do our best,” says Isaac.
The boys, who live with their parents, Nicolas and Catherine Restoin, in a small house in Quimper, southern Brittany, have managed to move many strangers from a culture other than their own with the most significant melodies of Latin music.
Nicolas, born in South Korea, was adopted at the age of four by a French couple, he is not related to his native country and confesses that he is attracted to this music by its melody, its joy and the good vibes it transmits.
“They ask us a lot why we sing Latin songs, it’s as if you ask someone who is not Asian why they eat sushi all day, because they like it!”, Says Nicolas, whose role in the duo is to accompany the guitar while Catherine records and they both choose the songs.
EARLY MUSICIANS
Isaac started playing the trumpet when he was seven years old, when his father and his friends got together to listen to music and play, like good music lovers. Nora, four years old, also wanted to participate and, in the absence of an instrument, they asked her to sing.
Now he covers his face with shame when they put on that video in which he interprets a popular Jewish song and, with his toddler voice, he makes freaks from the foreground.
“I think people like our naturalness about us,” says Nora.
Because no matter how professionalism they have added in recent years, with studio recordings and collaborations with established groups such as Fetén Fetén, their strategic decisions respond to intuition and the ingenuity with which they try to compensate for their shortcomings.
KEEP PRIVACY
This triumph has not blinded what was from the beginning a way to have a good time with the family: Catherine and Nicolas rejected the wave of proposals that followed the success of ‘Twenty years’.
Big international record companies, talent scouting shows and television sought, without response, to sign contracts with them.
“We distrust the toxicity of the ‘star system’, especially with children,” confesses Nicolas, who after recording an album on his own in 2020 to give as a family souvenir, last summer accepted a proposal from the music agency Madame Vaudeville, whose project seemed more related to him.
With it, they have just released their first album, “Latin & Love Studies”, eleven hits of Latin American music, some of which already have a video clip version, showing the giant steps they have taken in just one year.
Nicolas and Catherine try to excuse themselves to fans who applaud having given their children a special education or turned their attention to more traditional music.
“We are normal parents and they are normal children who when they come home from school want to play with the screens. We wanted music to be something that they enjoy and do in a playful way”, explains Nicolas.
In February of this year, they traveled to Madrid for the first time, where they have already spent several stays to record songs, and they plan to do a small tour in Spain and another in Latin America next year. A good opportunity, also, to perfect your Spanish.
Immersed in the recording of a second album with original songs and in the preparation of their show, the children talk about their musical tastes.
Isaac is more traditional, he is attracted to old music, rumba and rock, while Nora, a fan of South Korean groups BTS and Blackpink (whose language no one speaks in the family), claims to be more modern.

España /Spain playlist
España or Spain, either way, what a wonderful place in the world. The music, like classical guitar, flamenco, is unique in that area and I just had to make a Spanish playlist. Remember to turn it up loud for Teitenblood! To hear the songs, hit the link here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-iHPcxymC18Ks-9LjNcIuaxQmaAsBV5R
Are there any songs I forgot to add to the list? Let me know. Gracias!

It rained almost the whole night in San Jose del Pacifico, and we were all grateful for the sunshine in the morning. Everyone in the hostel had wet clothes to hang over chairs and benches in the yard. I walked in to town and got things to make breakfast. The host, Ricardo had also gotten food to make, so we joined forces and made a feast of chorizo quesaodillas and eggs with onion and Chile, avocado and salsa on top, Mexican music in the background. We looked out at the green mountains as we ate, fog still lingering in the valleys and ominous clouds surely bringing more rain, not too far in the distance. I decided the beach sounded nice and packed up my things after breakfast. The van ride out of San Jose was rainy and somehow even more winding than the way up. The guy sitting next to me was a year younger and talked with the driver. He said he had been deported from New York, where had grown. He was born in Mexico. The rest of his family had their papers, including his son. He had been away from them for two years and eight months, in jails, deportation centers, and now finally with his grandparents in Puerto Escondido. He had considered hiring a coyote to smuggle him back but it was dangerous and posed the risk of getting out back in a cell. He was just waiting for the paperwork to go through. And with Trump, he said, it could be a lot longer. The tattoo on his neck said Todo Blanco, referring, as I understood, to the bleached sheets and clothes they used in the jail. He invited me to his grandmother's restaurant but I was going to the next town over, Mazunte. He showed me where to catch a taxi or truck when our ways parted. The driver told us where the term gringo comes from. What I understood was that there was a certain fighting sport where the white people wore green and would yell 'go green,' which in Spanish turns around to be green go. I'll have to do some research. As we go down the mountain I notice the ecosystem change and start to recognize more of the plants, hibiscus, banana, coconut, avocado, mango, papaya, kamani, bamboo, and a bunch of trees and vines I don't know the names of, even noni and purple ti leaf! On this curvy, one lane road I could almost be driving in Wailua. I switch to a taxi in a small inland town and arrive in Mazunte at dusk. The taxi driver recommends a place to stay and I check it out but think I could find something better. Plus I don't necessarily want him to know where I'm staying. I wonder around feeling out the town and people, and head down a side street. It's getting dark and I'm getting a little anxious, looking at expensive places on air b and b, I see a couple who look like they speak English and ask if they have a recommendation. They kindly point me in the direction of the beach and say it's the last place on the left called Posado de Arquitecto. When I arrive they say they have a dorm room but if it rains, it could.leak. The choose me a bed least likely to get wet. It rained last night but they can't be sure if it will tonight. The sky's are clear and I don't want to search anymore so take the risk. I'm laying in the top bunk with just a pad and a sheet, a mosquito net surrounds me, and makes me feel like a princess. I look.out.over trees towards the ocean. The band plays La Bamba and Manu Chao songs, and I can hear the waves crash between jams. Last night I slept under three wool blankets and a comforter, tonight just the mosquito net, the sheet thrown to the side. The breeze is warm.

1, 4, 10, 11, 15, 21, 40! =)
Hi, Yana, tanks for dropping by ! :)
1. A song from the year you were born
(What year was I born already ? oh, yeah, right, 1996)
I love Toni Braxton’s Unbreak my heart. In France at the same time we had Aïcha by Khaled, I have to put it because Aïcha is my third name. It’s the kind of song that people will start singing drunk at 2 am in karaoke bars … Also the kind of song my cousins back in Morocco will start singing to annoy me, even though they can’t speak French. Fun.
4. A song that is not sung in your native language
This kind of question works for native English-speakers but for other people it’s like “Oh, so you want a song in English ?”. But I’m gonna give you a song in Spanish because let’s be original. And I choose … Desaparecido de Manu Chao. I may have said that before, but my mother is a Spanish teacher, so we grew up with a lot of Spanish culture in the house, including one Manu Chao, who is also part French and sings in French and English too. Desaparecido is the kind of song my mother makes her students learn when they’re starting Spanish in high school.
10. Something you’ve heard performed live
I haven’t been to a lot of concerts - if I remember correctly I went to three concerts and two of those I was a kid. The one I remember is the French band Boulevard des Airs. BDA are from my mother’s birth town, they’re local boys who now do all the big concert halls in France. When I saw them, they had just released their second album, and they were back in town to present it. The big single was Cielo Ciego. They sing mostly in French and Spanish, sometimes, more rarely, in English.
11. Something you’d give ANYTHING to hear performed live
FREDDIE MERCURY. Especially lately with the up-coming movie, I’m almost considering making a deal with a crossroads demon just to see one concert of Queen. Or to just relive the entirety of the 1980s. Hashtag “born in the wrong decade”.
15. Something to BELT SHAMELESSLY/do DIVA HANDS to
GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUUUUUUUN. That is basically my theme song among my group of friends. THAT’S ALL THEY REALLy WA-A-A-ANT, SOME FU-U-U-UN. GIRLS, THEY WANT, WANNA HAVE FUN, GIRLS, WANNA HAVE - dun-dun-dun-dun-dun du du du du, du. SOMEBODY’S TAKE A BEAUTIFUL GIRL - I WANNA BE THE ONE TO WALK IN THE SUN ! Okay, wow, I’m awake, all of a sudden. Never fails to work. Took me ten minutes to type this because I started dancing in my room.
21. A song that you could SLAY at karaoke
A song that I have slayed at karaoke, thanks to my darling @tinyrubywolf is One Republic’s classic Counting Stars. And obviously every French person can sing Les Lacs du Connemara even completely wasted, it’s like, written in our DNA.
40. Favorite Disney song
Ah. So that’s the hard one. Surprisingly, I don’t have a fav Disney song … I have a Disney character, Belle, but picking one song … I’ll go with Poor Unfortunate Souls this time. Ursula is more or less my favorite Disney villain, and I think she wasn’t as developed as she could have been. She’s ruthless, she’s formidable, she’s fierce. And the fact that physically she was inspired by the legendary Divine is added bonus.
Thanks for playing with me !Ask me
