do graves!leosagi ever get tired of their friends/family labelling them?? like maybe leo’s bros make fun of him for having a “boyfriend” and he gets like rightfully irritated by that ?
its Kinda amusing bc eventually leo’s family at least straight up thinks theyre just really good pals and its like wow ! friendship ! in a more oblivious sense like they just kinda shrug and go oh yeah usagi’s here again whatever
originally mikey was insanely insanely suspicious of usagi and what his relationship was with leo (“hes literally just a friend” “YOU MEAN A BOY-FRIEND. AND U NEVER TOLD US.” “what am i supposed 2 say do i update u guys every time i make a friend” “If I See This Fuckinf Rabbit Sleeping In Your Bed Again I’m Telling Dad” “WE WERE HAVING A SLEEPOVER”) (mikey was mainly shocked bc leo invited a friend to sleepover who they didnt know And leo didnt tell anyone there was an extra mouth to feed for brekkie) but once everything was smoothed over usagi just became another regular, similar to how april is
leo himself tells raph that its a little more than that but only raph rly knows it and hes always had a hunch about them so it didnt change much in how the brotjers saw the two
usagi’s family on the other hand is definitely more “Boyfriend? boyfriend? boyfriend? crush? romance?” kitsune teases usagi about how dramatically romantic it must be to fall for a guy he hated in the beginning and usagi is like . so filled with Eugh. This Is Not Romantic. ick feeling that it causes him to be more in denial at how close he’s gotten with leo (in the beginning at least , later on kitsune still teases him but he’s more at ease with how him and leo are, so he always jusy goes “ew no im not kissing him dates r gross” but over time she toned it down to more “ooh is someone missing a certain kappa?” kinda teasing rather than “whens the wedding/has your first kiss happened yet lmao/etc” kinda teasing)
hana calls leo his boyfriend like all the time and like . usagi doesnt rly correct her bc she’s 8 and he doesnt know how to explain that they “arent Really boyfriends sure they do things that couples would do sometimes but its platonic and well you dont rly know what platonic means uh”
so she gets a pass on all her “IS THAT YOUR BOYFRIEND” comments since usagi is just like “yeagh its leo u wanna say hi”
auntie notices how leo visits a lot and she kinda just is like “okay ur like my kid now. lol.” she thinks they are just best friends bc usagi said they are and who is she to think otherwise, she kinda just absorbs leo (and later on the hamatos) as her own family and doesnt question their relatiomship much
chizu and gen tend to stay out of usagi’s personal business like that But gen did think that leo was a girl for a good while before he was ever introduced to him . and he was like “usagi if you wanna pick up the ladies u need like. do better. than this” “what. What” “like take a shower man” trying to give him flirting/relationship advice without actually knowing leo at all and also assuming usagi is straight
all in all its never really serious if people call them boyfriends or just best friends bc they dont really care to correct anyone it only matters if its like “so did you hit the [insert romantic relationship milestone] phase yet haha” bc that gets tiring to hear constantly
mainly all their family is just like “oh okay” at their relationship since i dont Really want to make the hardships of being aroace or being queer a big point since we already struggle enough with that irl ! a few details here and there about how their unlabelled status confuses some people but generally just a “we’ve seen weirder shit who cares” kinda energy to it
i love rambling . Thank you for the wuestion ily /p

Meredith: First Time Caller, Long Time Listener - Chapter Three: Crystal Clear
Author's Notes (potential spoilers): My home internet is really slow, hence why this post may look a bit rough (I also stayed up til 4AM finishing and posting this on AO3 lol) and a lot of things have been going on in my personal life but I'm proud to post the third chapter of my humble story! Especially proud, considering that I'm absolutely PATHETIC with procrastination and anxiety, so being able to consistently write three chapters on something I've been working at really means a lot to me. And I got to live out my childhood fantasy of secret passageways in a Bad Times at the El Royale/Barbarian-style sequence. Definitely a two-for-one.
Chapter Theme Song: One Way or Another - Blondie (I find it really funny in the context of this chapter, it matches the dark humor of an OC you'll meet in later chapters)
Spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4GV9rbpFrebDNkG3J1GGcu
Trigger Warnings: This chapter contains some graphic violence, mainly near the end, but there's slight references to it around the midway point.

Three: Crystal Clear
The landing in Minneapolis was smooth.
Tangerine got through security with minimal effort, owing to his experience in the business and strings pulled with money to spare. The private jet used for his businessman cover, one of his favorites and most convenient, didn’t hurt.
He texted Lemon to put the bastard at ease.
🍊: Landed safe
🍋: In the belly of the beast now mate
🍊: Fuck off, all I need to do is kill one sodding cop and take a picture of him and send it to some bird
🍋: If any one person recognizes you you’re public enemy number one
🍊: Could say that about any of the other places we’ve been
🍋: Not Meredith.
Tangerine had to take a large seething breath at that point. He tried convincing himself it was just anger as always.
🍊: Didn’t we agree never to mention that place out loud ever again?
🍋: No, we didn’t, we just stopped talking about it
🍊: Yeah well same fucking principle alright? I landed, I’m ready to do the job, that’s it, why the fuck are you acting like this?
🍋: I still don’t think you should’ve taken that job. I was already on one anyways from the fucking White Death and with where it’s looking, we won’t need one for months
🍊: We’ve already fucking discussed this
🍋: Just finish it and get home ASAP
Tangerine was about to get into another row over Lemon’s hypocrisy when he was the one trying to do his job without a complaint, but got his shit together before he could get even more sidetracked.
He checked into his hotel and went straight to unpacking. As he began hanging his suits, he realized he could not stop thinking back to his client.
She was indeed unusual. He appreciated the promptness and it was certainly a lucrative offer, but it was rare that he would get paid such a high amount, and he was usually sent after the higher-ups. Crime bosses, crooked politicians, and the like. But one measly corrupt cop? If it wasn’t for the curiously high price, arguably below his pay grade.
And it just so happened to coincide with one of the very few jobs that separated the Twins.
Tangerine pulled out his phone and scrolled to find the contact of his client, and began typing.
🍊: Oi, just to clarify, you said three million?
He gets a reply almost immediately.
🔲: Yes.
🍊: I’m not gonna deny it’s a pretty penny, but how do you have that much, and why me, why this?
🔲: I didn’t want to bother with details. I did say it was personal. But since you asked, revenge. For my family. We’ve got quite a bit of money, and my dad left me a hefty sum in his will. I’m using the bulk of it to pay you. If the job gets finished, of course.
The response was reasonable if irritating. He was a fucking professional for Christ’s sakes.
And revenge was annoyingly common in his world, one of the most frequent reasons for people like him to be hired in the first place. It was all a bloody soap opera at this point.
Tangerine prided himself on being the type not to ask questions, but skepticism won out.
🍊: Hold your horses, who do you think I am? I’m doing your dirty work for you, and I’m gonna be expecting that three mil when I get that photo.
🔲: I genuinely find that ironic. And once again? You did ask. But I think that’s quite enough chatter for a man of your…occupation, isn’t it?
Judging by what he heard of her voice, she was older than him, but came off as a pretentious fucking brat in these messages. Avoiding her bait, Tangerine turned off his phone and got to work, hacking into databases and digging up shit on Officer Geoffrey.
Officer Geoffrey was a madman.
And he was no cop. He was Black Stone.
Black Stone had been an independent operator for quite some time, and profusely refused to work with any other, not even an agency or a handler. Quite rude too, even considering Tangerine. He flipped from being curtly professional to raving lunatic, constantly giving everyone else in the business a fucking earworm. He was also on the older, washed-up side, looking more like an alcoholic father than a threat.
Tangerine never liked Black Stone. Neither would he admit it, but he was surprisingly a rather prolific contractor, despite being in his line of work for far less time.
It pissed him off to no end. His ruthlessness matched his reckless abandon, but there was a clear pattern to his victims: they all had committed serious misdeeds, from Blackwater affiliates who had fired on civilians to human trafficking ring leaders.
Not that it undeterred Tangerine’s opinions of him. Self-righteousness annoyed the hell out of him, and there were plenty of “deserving” folks walking around all over the world at the end of the day.
Besides, the Twins had worked with Blackwater several times amongst everything they had done throughout their rise to infamy. They hadn’t perished to the great Black Stone.
Anyways, his methods were as unpredictable as he was angry. Sometimes he’d shoot a prick through their fucking ears. Other times he’d lead a whole gang into a fucking forest and burn it all down.
Tangerine was understanding a lot more why he was being paid so much. The cop shit had to have been a cover for Black Stone’s antics, and someone had been pissed off just enough. Unsurprising.
Well, then.
—
Tangerine tailed Officer Geoffrey’s patrol vehicle in a rental car.
He had been intercepting his field operations. Luckily for Tangerine, it wound up as a fairly mundane day. Black Stone was simply monitoring the city while writing the occasional traffic ticket.
At some point, Geoffrey began to drive out of the Central District. Tangerine followed close behind in a rental car, occasionally darting around different roads to maintain an unsuspicious distance.
They crossed the Wabasha Street Bridge onto the southern areas of the city. By now, Geoffrey hadn’t done anything besides driving, not even using his radio. Tangerine decided to kill him wherever he stopped.
Eventually, Geoffrey slowed down and parked. The GPS revealed their location to be in Sunfish Lake, which looked to be a rural village with few houses around. Perfect. Tangerine pulled over just one turn away. He drove a slight distance down a wooded path before killing the engine.
Tangerine trailed Geoffrey and quickly caught up to within a short distance of him, walking along the road and taking cover among the trees as needed. Minutes later, a multi-story house in a more open lot of land came into view.
Fair spot for a safe house, Tangerine had to admit.
Geoffrey fished out a set of keys and entered the house. Once he closed the door, Tangerine made a beeline for the house, ducking out of the field of vision whenever Geoffrey walked in front of a window. At the door, Tangerine got out his lockpicks.
Whatever mild approval he expressed of Black Stone for his choice in refuge disappeared once he realized how fucking mediocre his locks were. Nevertheless, he quickly brushed the disappointment off. He would complain once he got home to Lemon.
Once he heard the latch click free, he swung the door open quietly yet rapidly. He closed it with one hand as he drew his revolver with the other.
The interior of the house was unremarkably normal-looking. Grey walls. Forest green tiles. A kitchen with an island, couches and a coffee table over a rug. Bookshelves, framed artwork, potted plants.
Geoffrey hadn’t come into view, but momentarily Tangerine heard footsteps coming from upstairs. He slid behind a wall and prepared to ambush, but right as he got into position, the footsteps stopped. And never fucking came back.
Puzzled by Geoffrey’s apparent disappearance, Tangerine stepped out into the open. Still no footsteps or sound of movement. He scoured the first floor, walking down a hallway and checking every room and the garage.
Nothing.
Tangerine was about to venture onto the second floor when he heard what sounded eerily similar to rustling. He instinctively turned towards the sound, finger on his trigger.
Nothing?
He moved in the direction it came from, which was towards the back door. Right when he reached the door, he heard more rustling. But it sounded like it came from within the house.
What the fuck?
Tangerine briefly peeked through every room on the first floor again before walking up the stairs. The second floor was as mundane as the first. Bedroom. Bathroom. Second bedroom. Second bathroom.
He was just walking out of the second bedroom’s closet when he noticed a weird flash in the corner of his eye.
He wheeled around and was face-to-face with the bed.
Tangerine squinted and walked closer to the headboard. White with three frames that looked like cupboard doors.
Doors.
He used his free hand to look for any openings between the frames and the headboard itself. When he came to the middle frame, he felt his fingers squeeze in just a bit further than with the other frames, followed by a click, and the door swinging wide open.
Under the bed was a dark, long passageway resembling a cave. And there was light at the far end.
Forced to crawl, Tangerine got on his knees and began navigating through the dimly lit burrow. As he got closer to the light, he noticed that it came from within what appeared to be a dug-out room.
When he saw what was inside, his jaw dropped.
There was a gigantic fucking conspiracy board filled to the brim of him. Of everything about him. There were photos of him ranging all the way back from when he got his start in the business, his teenage years, to his most recent job. He should have gotten rid of the security camera footage by the time he got home.
And yet.
Newspaper clippings of his jobs, all covered up by the various agencies and criminal organizations by the time they hit the headlines. Portraits of his targets, in live and mangled body form. Snapshots of all the cities he’s worked in, including some uncomfortable close-ups on buildings he recognizes. The inevitable trail of red string connected all of them together in perfect chronological order from what he could remember.
Underneath the board was a long desk. On both sides of it were supercomputers, with a more general-purpose desktop on a smaller desk next to it. There were even more articles dedicated to him, scattered across the vast piles of documents he thought no longer existed. Burner phones he discarded. Cameras of the surveillance kind. Safe house keys.
This time, what he noticed the most was a garish handwriting in a darkened, oft-putting shade, trailing all over most of the torn sheets of paper. He knew it wasn’t blood, but a distinct putrid odor emitted from the questionable ink he couldn’t quite place. It just felt unnatural.
The writing itself, in bold, large capital letters, spelt NOTHING IS FORGOTTEN.
He picked up one of the sheets of paper and noticed the deranged writing covered a past contract he signed.
Fuck the job, Black Stone was going to fucking answer for this.
Coming out of the room, he was again bathed in the darkness of the cave as he crawled back to the bed.
Wait, didn’t he leave the door open—
His head bumped against what was certainly the wood of a frame.
That didn’t budge.
He tried pushing against the door as hard as he could, eventually resorting to punching it with his brass knuckles, but for whatever reason, the door did not move an inch. Someone on the other end had to have been holding it in. It was like it had been fucking sealed.
He caught another flash at the corner of his eye and saw that more light had now appeared in the opposite direction. Cursing under his breath and realizing he was forced to find another exit, he crawled all the way to the other side.
There was another ladder leading up to a circular door, looking the same as the one he originally took. The door was easy to open - all he needed to do was push - and spit him out right on a lot of open land. The door was covered by grass, and he noticed a keyhole. It had been unlocked.
Almost directly in front of him was a large white mansion. It easily surpassed Geoffrey’s house by about three times in size. The main entrance had three large wooden doors and wide platform stairs leading up to the front door.
Two of which were wide open.
Tangerine seethed and quickly barged through the entrance. He was done with Black Stone’s games.
As soon as he fully stepped inside, both open doors rapidly slammed shut behind him, causing him to flinch. All the blinds were closed in the house, giving the atmosphere a dim, shadowy atmosphere.
Tangerine tried looking out the small windows of the door, but they were built in a kaleidoscope style, the panes seemingly divided into dozens of protruding bumps of glass, making it difficult to see anything. There were no moving shapes, or even shadows from under the door that gave away an outside presence.
“Fucking bullshit,” Tangerine muttered with half a mind to beat the piss out of whoever showed up, Black Stone or no. Then he heard something akin to a glass shattering from inside the house. He drew his revolver.
The nearest window smashes to pieces as a figure crashes through the glass to tackle him to the ground.
With a roar of exertion from the sheer frustration of the day, Tangerine puts all his strength in kicking the person off, but they grab hold of his legs and use their fucking body weight to slam him back down.
Tangerine hits the floor face first, and it’s instantly met with a deep, heavy punch to the back of his head, causing his nose to make full contact with the ground, signaled by the sound of something surely breaking.
Letting out a furious groan, Tangerine jabs an elbow upward, only slightly connecting with his attacker but connecting nonetheless, and he attempts to follow through with a jab of his own. Said attacker - whose weight had become suspiciously light - only captures his arm in a deathly grip and slams his legs onto Tangerine’s upper body, pushing his head with a now-damaged nose into the floor again with a louder crunch - make that two, as the attacker was pulling his arm back relentlessly far.
Tangerine let out a guttural cry of pain as his arm was broken, proceeded by his elbow as the bastard had the nerve to suddenly reverse the lower part of his arm in a 180-degree angle. He had dealt with broken limbs before, he was a fucking assassin, but this was particularly inconvenient.
His quick-thinking of how to adapt to his incapacity was rudely interrupted when the bastard slams a fist in his face, the sensation of pain arising from the broken nose clouding his judgment. A punch to his stomach then the next to his chest knocks the wind out of him.
Tangerine could now clearly recognize the figure. Black Stone, his tall, lanky figure and his messy dark hair. Most of all, he saw that he was pissed beyond belief. His eyes told the story of a flurry of emotions: rage most obviously, and something involving sadness.
Tangerine doesn’t get to take advantage of his emotions the way he usually would’ve as Black Stone slams him from wall to wall, then punches him through the cheek, his fist reaching his lips. He begins to feel the same sensation of pain from his nose in his mouth, and is only able to see two of his teeth on the ground before he is practically dragged by the neck without concern for potential choking. His attempt at breaking off is met with a kick to his knees and yet another punch to the shoulder, rendering it nigh dislocated.
Shortly, he feels Black Stone throw him to the floor, now carpeted. Tangerine was about to fight through the pain to rip him a new one when he noticed dozens of people. Then hundreds. They were at the back of the house now, and he could see into the sizable lot of land through the back door that people surrounded them from all sides.
People he recognized. No, people he knew - or knew him, rather.
And standing closest to him were the survivors of the Meredith Elementary School bombing.

i think part of the reason this whole gaylor discourse is so irritating (besides just being blatantly disrespectful and trying to assume that taylor’s queer and even despite her having now come out repeatedly as straight gaylors are still trying to prove she is queer and id just deeper in the closet, WHICH if that is true y’all are just doing nothing but trying to out someone who clearly wants to not be fucking outed) is because people are taking the evidence as her songs are queer coded as her saying she’s queer. because i won’t sit here and say songs line DWOHT or ivy or i can see you aren’t queer coded because they are, and even if i don’t interpret the song in that manner doesn’t mean anyone else’s personal interpretation is wrong, however trying to say that because those songs are queer coded automatically means taylor is queer is such a bad read.
like yes, she might be hinting at being queer in songs, BUT AGAIN it’s not our place to say it’s confirmed until she herself says it. but even if she isn’t, acting like a straight person can’t experience those types of situations and relationships is just really weird to do. secret and taboo relationships are not inherently queer in nature nor are they exclusively queer stories. there are plenty of straight relationships that are taboo even still today across many cultures for many reasons. and trying to say that only queer people can experience that is just wrong (i’ve seen this mainly more on tiktok in general). and trying to now prove that x=y with taylor’s songs now=her sexuality is WRONG. like, taylor wrote a song about her anxiety’s over the media finding out about her secret relationship and queer fans connect to it. okay that’s fine and normal. but then trying to say that because taylor’s song can be read in a queer light that means she’s queer is a big leap because those feelings are not universal to one group of people.
taylor has talked about writing songs for everyone to relate to and it’s clear she doesn’t mind if people personally interpret her songs in a queer manor (ie. ivy being used in dickson season 4 because fans said it was about the main characters relationship and was personal to them) as she is an ally and there’s nothing wrong with personal interpretation. but trying to now say that it’s her coming out or signaling she’s queer is wrong and stepping the line. which is what the response to the NYT article was about. it was about taylor saying she’s a straight ally and is tired of people trying to prove she’s gay when she’s come out atleast line three-four times now that she’s straight.
this is really disjointed and all over the place and probably is poorly written but i’m just really sick and tired of this same old discussion. taylor has made it clear she identifies as a straight ally. yes, she may be closeted BUT ITS NOT OUR PLACE TO SAY SHE IS UNTIL SHE TELLS US. she’s said she’s straight and people need to accept that. they need to accept that she’s a straight ally and isn’t okay with people assuming her sexuality is anything besides that. that’s what this is all about. yes, there are plenty of fans using this as a way to be homophobic, but trying to group all of the discourse behind that is wrong.
everyone needs to stop giving their two cents on what they think her sexuality is because none of us have any say in it. and again, she may come out one day as queen and that’s wonderful and fine and i’ll love and support her then too, but at this point she’s made it clear how she identifies and trying to prove that her own view of herself is incorrect IS WRONG AND DISGUSTING.
also, this is coming from someone who’s not only had people i’ve knowns sexuality speculated on as well as my own but also forced out of the closet. this shit isn’t fucking funny or fun. this type of discourse has caused queer people not only their jobs and families in the past but also their lives. a lot of queer elders died for our right to stay in the closet if we want and now trying to strip that right away from anyone is wrong. people have a choice in if or when they choose to come out. stop treating celebrities differently because they’re famous, they may be famous (and really out of touch with reality but that’s a whole other topic) but they’re still humans at the end of the day. they’re humans who get to chose how they live their life and express themselves and trying to assign them certain labels or roles based on the fact you want to treat them like fictional characters is wrong.
okay, that’s all. i’m going to try falling back asleep now or keep writing, idk.
#kelly babels#gaylor#taylor swift#being brave and tagging this as gaylor#again if she is queer i’d be fine and just as happy#but y’all do not have a right to say she’s queer until she tells us#also yes#there is a difference between gaylors who think she might be queer but don’t want her outed vs fans that are constantly trying to do it#this is probably horribly phrased and i’ll regret it but i’ll deal with that later

ok ok some thots some thots..
stepbro!curtis went to hs with prissy!reader and him and her preppy boyfriend ransom absolutely detested one another. curtis was a loner that smoked under the bleachers and wore jeans with oil stains on them. he was notorious for getting into fights and most people in town believed he was headed nowhere good. maybe even the reader turned her nose up at him. maybe he wants to get revenge on her and ransom for the way they treated him in high school. i can see him taking great joy in cornering her in the kitchen in the middle of the night or making her grasp her towel tighter when she opens the bathroom door and he’s standing there with a lopsided smirk. ransom or andy or whoever would go absolutely fucking nuts because this scumfuck is living across the hall from his girl. omg the reader getting into fights with her boyfriend in the driveway about her new living arrangement and curtis hearing every word. maybe he’d develop real feelings. who knows. just thots.
this is perfect !! your parents got married while you two were off at the same college. curtis still works at the mechanic's bc your parents have cut off his allowance until he cleans up his act ("he's just as bad as he was in high school... you keep saying he'll get better but he hasn't." poor baby 🥺). he actually likes working there with his co-workers, and he's saved up enough to buy a motorcycle himself !!
ugh but one day, you and your boyfriend pull up in his fucking Beemer. he remembers all the shit you and ransom (mainly ransom) used to pull. like when he was forced to work on that asshole's car while you two made out/sneaked off to the washroom to fuck. now you and curtis are living in the same house with your newlywed parents, trying to adjust to the new arrangements while balancing your college careers.
"Baby, you know what my parents are going to say—"
"You'd rather stay in that house with the creep than come stay with me?"
You sigh, "I can't, Ran. You know that." Curtis bets you're fluttering your lashes and pouting, that same look that has gotten you everything you've ever asked for. "They already think we're getting serious too soon."
Ransom crosses his arms, and his once-perfectly styled hair falls over his forehead, "So? He's trash, I know he's gonna fucking touch you, violate you. And you must want that if you haven't moved out yet!"
You deeply inhale, irritation bubbling in your stomach. "Maybe not all of us are trust fund babies who can live every day leeching off their family's legacy." You don't stay to hear anything else he has to say and storm inside the house, still all dolled up for your (now cancelled) date.
Ransom tries to follow you, only to get the front door slammed in his face. "Woah—baby, hey! Wait!" He knocks loudly, "baby, I'm sorry! Open up!" All his attempts are futile as Curtis hears you race up the stairs and shut your bedroom door.
He feels bad for you. He never knew much of your relationship with Ransom, but he knew you've been dating since high school. And when Ransom announced he wasn't going off to some elite college because he wanted to stay close to you, everyone knew it was more than just a teenage fling. But that certainly didn't mean he was right for you.
Ransom glances up at the opened window and is only met with swaying curtains. He's fuming, fists clenched so tightly that his nails pierce his skin. His gaze lands on a motorcycle in the driveway, "Fucking trailer trash."
dark bad boy!stepbro!curtis anyone 😳😳 mayhaps... it was all about revenge at first, but then curtis actually falls for you and wants better for you in whatever twisted way he deems as deserving

I need to get this out of my head.
Listen, I love it when people write and draw things about Shirakumo coming back where everyone is happy and everything is a lovely pink colour BUT I NEED ANGST
I need the three of them to go through real problems if this ever happened.
First of all: Was Shirakumo conscious while being Kurogiri? If he was, would he be able to remember his friends? Or would Yamada and Aizawa have to put the puzzle back together in his head for his memories come back?
I personally like the first one where he remembers everything, because there would be trust between Shirakumo and the other two.
Now according to that
Aizawa (I don't have too many thoughts about him)
It takes him a really long time to get comfortable with Shirakumo's presence again
If you didn't know the whole thing, you would though that Aizawa doesn't like Shirakumo at all
That's not true though
He's just afraid to get attached and lose him again
He avoids him most of the time
And obviously feels really guilty about it
and him being there is not helping at all
He still takes care of Eri
He eventually starts to get along with him after a couple of months
Yamada
He takes care of Shirakumo 24/7
Literally, they both live in the same house
Hizashi moved this radio studio to the house
Why? Shirakumo is VERY unstable when he's alone for longs periods of time
And by long periods I mean 3-4 hours
Hizashi gets tired of this sometimes
But hey, it's his friend after all right?
Shirakumo is the one that needs help right now
"It's ok, we can do this" he repeats to himself on every night Shirakumo can't sleep
He sometimes feels like a single mother taking care of the child she didn't want in first place
He would never hate him, but sometimes he wants things to be like when he wasn't around.
And can't help to feel like shit. Like, damn
He knows that Shirakumo's having his fifth panic attack of the day but he literally offered to take care of him? Even though he was warned about everything, he still signed up for it
Because leaving him with the hero security shit wasn't an option
Shirakumo
His quirk is now the same as Kurogiri's
When he was "brought back", he went in coma for almost two months
His family was notified during that
And when he woke up, he literally couldn't walk or even talk
Like when you haven't played a game in a long time and you forgot even the simplest things
With Recovery Girl and Eric's help, it took him a month and a half to properly communicate and like six months to stand or walk without help
The only thing that he has to wear is a flexible metal piece to support his head into his column
Hizashi was with him during the whole recovery. Aizawa usually checked on them but mainly Hizashi, it was almost all in his shoulders after all
He was later informed about Nemuri. He was sad of course, but not really surprised since she never showed up in those almost ten months
He's not the sunshine boy he was before
As I said before, he remembers everything: before and after the accident.
Even some fragments of an old man using his body as an experiment
He knows he used to be nothing like he is now, both mentally and physically
that really messes up with him
Shirakumo usually struggles a lot with his appearance. Reflective things are in the top 5 things that he now hates
He is much more irritable than before, but he tries his best to not kill those loud blondes dudes from both hero courses
And struggles a lot with nightmares
He feels guilty. Everyone is so worried about him and he hates that
He wants to pretend that he's ok even tho he can go days without sleeping
He also hates that Hizashi won't rest as well
When they're at UA, Shirakumo stays with Yamada
And sometimes Eri, because she's the other one person that Shirakumo gets along with. She thinks that Shirakumo is really sweet and calm, and she also enjoys coloring books with him
When he's with Yamada, it's like watching a puppy follow someone everywhere
When his friend is teaching, he brings a chair and sit with him at the desk and sometimes helps student with their English homework
He still wants to be a hero
So after being fully used to everything, Principal Nezu lets him join the hero course, despite him being like 20 by that time
It's not his fault after all
Edit: for the first year, Shirakumo had a lot of migraines at random times. He also could be walking normally and from one moment to another, he would have been taken to see Recovery Girl because he randomly passed out in the hallway
So yeah, that's all I have to say for now
If you're still here, thanks for reading

Do I know you?
A/n: haven't written in a while but here's a little something. The medical stuff that is mentioned in this story is mainly based on google. It's not accurate and just for the sake of the story. And also I think it's confusing to read but I hope that you get the story😭
Summary: You left Natasha without context.
"Oh, shit where are my keys?" You cursed. You really need to pee and finding your lost keys is not helping.
"Babe, it's in your hands" Natasha said giving you an amusing smile.
"Oh" you laughed awkwardly.
"Babe we gotta go" Nat called out for you downstairs.
"I don't want to go" you whined. You walked down the stairs with a slumped back, purposely stomping your feet.
"But you said earlier you wanted to go shopping?" Nat asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"I changed my mind" You shrugged.
"Y/n earlier you eagerly convinced me to go shopping and now that I said yes you don't want to go?" Natasha playfully scolded you.
"Just go by yourself then" You grumbled. You walked back upstairs with the same antics you did when you walked down but this time it was more irritated.
Natasha sighed, confusion written all over her face but figured you were just moody today.
***
"My head hurts" you whined putting both of your hands to your temple and giving it a massage.
"You okay? That's been happening since last week."
"It's fine. Probably just lack of water" you shrugged.
***
Babe, I gotta go. I'm sorry. I love you
That's the note Natasha saw on her bedside table. You left her without context. Just a simple note but it didn't miss to leave her heartache.
She was confused, angry, and mainly lost. She didn't know why you left, why you suddenly disappeared without saying a proper goodbye.
She didn't know what your note means. Was it goodbye? Are you guys over?
At first, she doubted that it was you who wrote that note. You never leave without Natasha knowing. You always tell her where you go.
"Y/n's gone." She mindlessly stated.
"What?"
"Gone?"
"What do you mean gone?"
Those were just a few of the words the team threw out to Natasha.
"Maybe she got taken or something"
"She wouldn't just leave with a simple note"
They checked the cams of the compound and saw you leaving. They saw how you left a note and leave with baggage full of clothes.
They wanted to question your sudden disappearance. They wanted to say you left because you got taken not because you left them without saying anything. They wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt but they couldn't because you left willingly.
When weeks went on Natasha blamed herself. Maybe because she was too much. Maybe you left because she wasn't good enough. She got a lot of flaws, Imperfections, shortcomings you name it.
She got more colder, distant as time goes by. She became more strict, hard, and coldhearted. She stopped working and buried herself in work. She never talked unless it was work-related. She locked herself in her room, she never ate, she never slept. She was tired.
That was a year ago
--------------------------------------------------
Now Natasha was over you but she lacked closure. Still, she was doing better now. She regained the Natasha that she was before you left.
Natasha was now walking in the streets of New York having a break from all the happenings around the compound.
She smiled contently seeing people walking around with their family, lovers, and friends. But she stopped when she saw a familiar face that never failed to make her breath hitch and make her heart swell out of adoration.
It was you. You were in a cafe drinking a coffee watching the people walking outside.
Out of all the places, she found you here in New York having a cup of coffee and admiring the view.
Natasha couldn't help but be angry at how content you were. How you didn't have a sign of tiredness in your eyes. How you were so so so alright.
Your hair was shorter now not like the long hair that Natasha loved. You became skinnier, your body more defined.
Natasha made her way to the cafe. She wanted to drag you out of there and let you explain or scold you or scream at you but she couldn't. It was a year ago.
She calmed herself down before making a beeline to the table you were in.
"Y/n?" Natasha scolded herself at how her voice slightly broke and her tears were trying to get the best of her.
You gave her a confused smile.
"Uhm hi," you said confusion written all over your face.
Nat was hurt at how you sounded like you didn't know her. The pang in her chest rose. Her fake smile faltered. Her stomach dropped. The audacity of you to confusingly smile at her as if nothing happened. As if you didn't leave her.
You didn't miss the hurt in her eyes. Somehow it gave you pain seeing her like that.
"Im sorry but do I know you?" You asked Natasha.
If the smile that you gave Natasha was hurtful. You asking if you know her broke her heart in a million pieces. The pieces she tried to mend over time that you left.
"Uhm" she lacked words. She didn't know what to say to you. Her eyes that were once held a calm gaze became distant.
You didn't miss it.
"I'm sorry if I don't recognize you. I got memory loss a year ago." You explained.
"M-memory loss?" Natasha stuttered. She was taken aback by what you said.
"You have a brain tumor"
Your world stopped and that sentence was rounding your mind. Now everything makes sense, that's why you easily forget things, your sudden change of moods, your impulsive decision.
You wanted to get tested by Bruce but you didn't want to be a burden to the team. They have a lot of paperwork, missions, and stuff that they had to do so you wanted to be the least of their problem. So here you were in Grey-Sloan Hospital being told that you have a tumor.
They suggested surgery for you but of course, it took time for you to decide. Going back to the compound you were zoning out, your mind who thought of many things focused on one word. Tumor.
You wanted to tell Natasha but you didn't want to be a problem to her. You didn't want Natasha to worry about you. You didn't want to be an inconvenience.
Maybe it was the tumor's impulsive decision that you decided to leave Natasha a week after you've known about the tumor. Leaving her a piece of note that didn't have a proper explanation.
You waited until Natasha was fast asleep before packing your things.
"Bye baby" you kissed Natasha's forehead and left.
You always thought it was for the best. After hearing about the possible effects after surgery you knew you might get memory loss.
After the surgery it was successful. They took all the tumors but your mind was blank. You didn't know your name, your age, you got zero memories. You knew this would happen so you hired a caregiver to give you some help to regain some memories you have. But you didn't regain your life with Natasha and the team.
The caregiver suggested going to places you were familiar with just like what you said to her but somehow it took you a year to face the memories you needed to gain full memory to your mind.
You didn't know you left a whole life after the surgery. You didn't know you left the love of your life.
Present
That's why you were here in a cafe. It was one of the lists your caregiver gave to you. You finally dared to face the memories you left and regain them.
Seeing this redhead somehow ignited something in you. You didn't know what it was but you felt like she was someone close. So here you were ushering her to the seat.
"Yeah uhm," you trailed off. "Have a seat" you ushered her to take the free chair in front of you. Natasha took the seat and sat on it.
"What's your name? Might ring a bell." You asked Nat awkwardly chuckling.
"Natasha. Natasha Romanoff" she said.
You tried to remember her name, her face but it didn't work
"I'm sorry, I still don't remember" you apologized and gave her a comforting smile.
"Uh-uhm h-how did you lose your memory?" Natasha stutteringly asked.
"I had a tumor back then" you explained. "They got it all out but memory loss was the effect of the surgery." You were now looking at your coffee as if it was more interesting than the beautiful redhead that was looking at you.
Natasha didn't know what to say. Everything that happened makes sense now. The forgetting of keys, the sudden change of moods. Everything was because of the tumor
Seeing that Natasha didn't respond, you continued talking.
"Now, here I am going through my list of places I have to go," you said chuckling awkwardly
"List?" Natasha asked confusingly.
"Yeah Uhm, it's the places I have to go so I can hopefully regain my memory" you took your list that was in your back pocket and gave it to Natasha.
Cafe
Avengers compound
Those were just a few of the things you listed that Natasha read. You even put the theater you guys loved. The picnic where you first had your date. Natasha couldn't help but smile.
"Do you happen to know where those places are?" You asked.
"Uh yeah, i-i could take you there" Natasha stuttered. She was now smiling, unshed tears crippling to her eyes.
"Thank you so much" you stood up from your seat and followed Natasha.
She took you to the compound first and without warning, all the team went and hugged you.
"Y/n!" Thor boomed.
"Y/n?" Wanda questioned.
"Oh my God!" Tony exclaimed.
All of them hugged you and you happily returned it with a smile.
"Where have you been?"
"Why'd you leave?"
"We missed you so much"
The chattering of the team made you overwhelmed. You didn't know where to look. What to say. They all happen to know you.
"Guys" Natasha shushed them and they all obliged. "Y/n doesn't remember us" Natasha sadly said.
They all looked at each other confused.
"What do you mean?"
"Don't remember? What?"
Natasha explained what happened to you and all you did was apologize that you didn't remember any of them. You gave them a sympathetic smile.
They took you to the places you guys always hang out. You even went to a lab full of robotic suits. Somehow someone named Bruce did a test on you to make sure nothing was wrong.
Now you were with Natasha. You both were walking in the hallways of the compound.
"Here is your room" Natasha gestured to the door in front of you. You opened it and saw all the stuff, pictures and clothes.
You traced the outline of your bedside table and saw a frame. It was a picture of you and Natasha smiling giddily at the camera. You looked at Natasha confused.
"We dated" Natasha blurted out. Your eyes widen at her words.
"This was our room. When you left I moved out and left the room as it is." Natasha explained.
"I left?"
"Yes, with a note," Natasha said sadly. Natasha showed the note that was still lying on her side table and gave it to you.
You tried to remember. You wanted to remember but everything they showed to you didn't ring a bell. Your eyebrows met and your eyes were tightly closed. You were desperate to remember.
"I- I still don't remember" you sobbed. Your heart was aching for no reason. Maybe because you long for the memory or maybe because you hated the fact that you left Natasha and you can't remember anything.
"It's okay y/n. At least now I know why you left"

NOT PROOFREAD.
a/n : this is just fanfiction, pls dont hurt me TT
“can you let me do things my way? your tactics are getting irritating..” yelena hissed on the phone. “okay, i’m sorry – i’m trying to help you. but by all means, this is personal and this is your mission.” valentina replied through the phone, smiling to herself. “i’m gonna go now, you’re distracting me.” the russian said before ending the call. “wait, i–”
the girl sighed to herself as she laid down on the uncomfortable motel bed. she’s been on this mission for days and she still hasn’t gone anywhere close to getting her target.
yelena was finally on her hunt for clint. she’d been struggling as clint was retired once again and barely left his safe-house, or just his house. but valentina let her know that he was going to take a trip to morocco to sort final things out – he made sure his trip was as far away from his family as possible because the whole reason for his retirement was to ensure his family’s safety.
“дерьмо (shit), this is so tiring..” she’d been in morocco for three days and hasn’t even caught a glimpse of her sister’s ‘killer.’ she was beginning to think it was hopeless - but the grief and rage was all she needed to endure. she wasn’t going to stop until she finished what she was yet to start.
she went over to the window closest to clint’s supposed room, she took a peek and still had no luck. it was getting tiring for her, missions like this usually took no less than a day. it was almost as if clint knew someone was after him and the harder it was for yelena, the more impatient she got.
she put on her coat and stuck a pistol into her holster. she left her room to go into town - mainly because she was getting hungry and the food at the motel wasn’t as edible as she hoped. she wrestled through a crowd of locals trying to sell the obvious tourist souvenirs.
she reached a small stall away from the crowds, it was pretty empty and quiet. exactly what she needed, “Sultat alkusks walqahwat min fadliki (Couscous salad and coffee, please),” she spoke to the vendor before taking a seat. she looked around and she could count the people she saw with her fingers on one hand. she waited patiently for her food arrive and thanked the vendor once she received it.
she was eating happily while checking her surroundings every 5 seconds, she was paranoid and rightfully so. she'd already memorised the faces of the people around her. there was a middle aged woman at another stall, selling similar food. there was a small group of young children playing football. a man on the side, smoking a cigarette and a girl drinking what looked like coffee. she couldn't get a clean glimpse due to the cap she was wearing and the angle of her head. yelena quickly finished her food and left, not forgetting to leave a little tip.
she kept looking over her shoulder and listened for footsteps, she kept her hand on her holster and walked as fast as she could until she reached a crowd. once she did, she let out a sigh of relief before finding her motel. she rushed into her room and locked the door. she didn’t actually know what she was running away from, but she felt unsafe – like there was someone on her tail. she saw it was getting late, and took a peek out of her window to see if clint was to be seen, but once again, no luck. she groaned before deciding the best idea was to rest.
––––––
a few days later, yelena still had no luck. she was starting to think val set her up for a nought mission, until she saw clint speaking to a few men from afar. the russian jumped up in excitement and ran across the room to grab her gun, but once she reached the window – he was gone. cursing under her breath, she ran out, but not before she made sure to have her weapons. she threw a cap over her head and ran to where she saw him last, she found his familiar head and starting following him. she was close! she was so, so, close. she was about five feet apart from him until a crowd suddenly flooded the area and vehicles were driving through this apparently busy road.
“excuse me! i’m sorry, excuse me!” she said while pushing through the crowd, but she already lost him. “b`lyad'! (fuck!),” she yelled, frustration taking over her. nevertheless, the ran in the direction she last saw him. "eafwan hal ra'ayt hadha alrajulu? (excuse me, have you seen this man?)“ she asked a few passerbyers while showing them a picture, but they all replied with the same, no.
frustration within yelena grew as the mission felt way too long, and almost impossible.
“valentina, if this is one of your sick jokes, it’s not funny! i’m tired and it's been going on for way too long!” she yelled into the phone, her accent sounding more aggressive as val only heard the anger in her voice. even then, the woman on the other side had a smug look on her face. “relax, my child. you can take your time – but i promise you, he’s there and you can do it. i have no more information on him and his plans, but believe me when i say.. it will be easier for you tomorrow.” she replied.
“if you’re bullshiting me–” yelena began, but was cut off by the older woman. “i’m not, sweetheart! trust me on this, now i have to go. have fun!” she cheered before ending the call. yelena groaned before stepping out of her room and heading to the roof. there, her sniper was laid out and was pointing right into clint’s room. she laid down and looked into the lens. she saw people walking around and selling, through the crowd there was no sign of clint.
she had snipers set in different places, different points in which she knows he’s gone. her plan was to kill him where there weren’t that many people, she didn’t want to cause a commotion even when the sight of a dead body would be more than a commotion.
–––––
it was the day valentina said would be easier for yelena.
she had woken up early and had her eye out for any sight of clint. at around 6 am, he was out and rushed himself into a car. she had been following him from then and was led out to where he was having a meeting with several different men. she was hiding out in a building opposite the one he was in. they were in a more isolated area, everything looked almost abandoned – which was perfect for her plan.
she had her target set on clint’s head. her finger was rested on the trigger, he kept moving around and yelena had to wait for a perfect shot or else she would kill the other men in the process. she saw clint talking and running his hand through his hair in frustration, in which he stopped moving. a small smirk was placed on yelena’s face as her fingers pressed into the trigger – but as soon as she was about to pull it, a bullet shot straight through the building she was in, her floor, and exactly 8 inches away from her head. she got down immediately and looked at the bullet that was shot through the wall next to her. “what the fuck?!” she exclaimed at herself, she cautiously got up and used the optical lens of her sniper to observe her surroundings, and as she expected she found nobody – even better, clint and his mates were nowhere to be found. “bullshit!” she yelled.
–––––
the day after, she had still successfully followed clint to, once again, another isolated area. but this time, she made sure to check her surroundings before focusing back onto clint. “stop moving…” she whispered to herself, not wanting to hurt anyone else in the process.
“got you.” she said in victory, her finger was placed on the trigger - just as she was putting pressure onto it, someone kicked her away, causing yelena to grunt as her back hit the wall. “what the fuck?!”
a girl stood in front of her – the same girl she saw at the food vendor’s. “who are you?!” she asked, placing her hand on her holster. the girl smiled, shaking her head. “hmm, that’s not a good idea. i’m not here to hurt you, i’m just here to make sure you don’t hurt anyone.”
“ah, eto piz`dets.. (ah, this is fucked up..)” yelena whispered to herself in frustration. “look, i’m here on a mission and actually, you should just walk away and pretend this never happened.” she stood up and grabbed her pistol. she pointed it at you and walked towards you while you walked backwards in alert. “the man i’m targeting killed my sister, this just seems like a fair kill, don’t you think?”
the girl in front of her sighed, she remembered what clint had turned to after the blip. she understood why she felt like what she was doing was right, but clint was her friend – her only father figure. she knew he’d changed for the better, he’s who he really is now. and because of it, she wouldn’t stop to protect him.
“i.. i’m sorry. i know how much pain you must be feeling right now.. and there’s nothing i can do or say to justify his actions – but please. he’s a better man now, he is a good man.” she explained with a hand out, trying to get yelena to lower her weapon. the russian scoffed in disbelief, “a good man? how is the man who caused my sister’s death a good man?”
she had no direct answer, she felt as if whatever she did would set the latter off. “he took care of me, he has a family, he was falling apart, his family was taken from him – he felt like what he was doing was the only way.” she explained, trying to walk towards the girl in front of her while yelena’s grip on her gun tightened. “don’t come any closer.” she warned.
“what’s your name?” she asked, trying to calm her down. “i don’t think that concerns you,” yelena replied angrily. she was tired, whoever this girl was – she was playing games. she was distracting her. she had one goal and one goal only, and that was to eliminate clint barton.
“i’m y/n, i’m from brooklyn, but i was originally from y/c.” you started with your hand still out. “i was taken away from my family when i was 4 and was trained to.. hurt people since i was 7.” the two of you were walking in circles, yelena still not letting her guard down. she had a stoic expression on her face, as if your backstory was the least of her worries – which they were.
“what are you trying to do? make me feel bad for you?” she asked, scoffing. “well i’m sorry, my sense of sympathy and basically every other emotion was taken away from me when i found out i lost my sister.”
“what was your sister’s name?” you asked, taking another step towards her. “as i’ve said, it does not concern you.” she hissed back, her finger hovering over the trigger. you knew how long clint needed and all you had to do was hold her out for a little bit longer. “well.. i’m sure she was lovely. and i also think she wouldn’t have wanted you to do this–”
“you don’t know what she wants!” she screams, her finger so close to pulling the trigger. you froze and put your hands up in the air, you were so sure she was going to shoot you, but if that’s what it took to keep clint safe – even for a little bit longer, you would take that risk. “no, i don’t. i’m sure this will bring you some sort of.. relief? but the man you’re targeting has three children. he has two beautiful boys and one beautiful girl.” the both of you circled around once more, with your hands still in the air. “this is getting tiring, i’m here for one thing and one thing only. you’re only making it harder, so i’m sorry, but i’m gonna have to do this.”
just as she was about to shoot you, you stepped aside and charged at her.
she grunted as her back hit the floor. you flipped her wrist, causing the pistol she was holding so tightly to go flying. “my god, this is bullshit!” she yelled before flipping your positions and slamming you onto the floor. her hands reached for your neck and applied pressure onto your throat. your face was going pale as you struggled against her. you eagerly looked around and saw your weapon an arms length away from you.
you elbowed her side, causing her to groan before flipping her over with your legs. she let go of your throat as you slammed your fist into her face. you felt her reaching into her legs for what you assumed was a small knife – and unfortunately for you, your suspicions were confirmed as she stuck the knife into your side. “fuck!” she pulled it out before knocking you aside. “i’m sorry,” she whispered before slamming her elbow into your temple.
you saw black for a second before waking back up and seeing yelena holding her sniper. you grabbed your pistol and shot by her wall, making sure to miss her. you slid to her and pushed her down once again, your elbow met her cheek repeatedly as she struggled under you. she reached into her vest, failing to get whatever she wanted to. instead, a picture that looked like it was from a photo booth fell out, catching your attention. you stopped attacking her as you held the picture in your hands, “..nat?”
defensively, she snatched the picture out of your hands, not forgetting to punch you after. “don’t! fucking touch my things–”
“you’re yelena?” you asked, ignoring the fiery pain in your cheek. she looked at you in shock, not understanding how you knew her name. “how.. how do you know that?!”
“you’re nat’s sister?” you asked, weakly. the pain in your side was becoming unbearable, but you felt as if nothing mattered until she answered your question. “how do you know natasha?”
“why are you coming after clint?” you replied with another question. “did you not hear me?! he killed her! why are you defending him when you claim to know my sister?!” she yelled at you angrily, shoving your chest. “what? where are you getting this from? clint.. clint didn’t–”
“before you start to make some bullshit up, i’m going to stop you. i don’t know who the fuck you are, but–”
“i was nat’s best friend.. along with clint.” you replied quietly, thinking about the information you’re processing. the latter laughed at you bitterly, “if you’re both her best friends, why did clint kill her? and why are you defending him?!”
“because that’s just it, clint didn’t kill nat, yelena..” you explained, sliding back, already knowing she was going to burst out in anger. “you’re full of bullshit–”
“natasha died in vormir. her and clint went to retrieve the soul stone, but they had to..” you coughed before going on, knowing how this could affect her, “a soul for a soul, were the only words stuck in clint’s head for days. in order to get the stone–”
“one of them had to die..” yelena finished your sentence looking down at the floor. “then why wasn’t it clint?” she asked, looking up at you for answers.
“he.. he jumped first, but.. nat went after him. clint tried holding onto her, but nat pushed herself off.” you looked away from her, the sudden information coming out of you made you remember what you felt when you all came back from retrieving the stones. seeing clint without your favorite russian, it brought you instant panic and you broke down immediately. tears started forming in your eyes and not long after, you were silently sobbing. “i’m so sorry, yelena.” you began, hiding your face in your hands.
yelena looked at you in complete shock. she fell onto her knees as she started crying herself. the both of you sat down crying together for what felt like hours – and you did stay there for hours. the sun went down and you were still both sitting in your positions – an evident distance between the both of you. in those hours, you still continued to lose blood, but you tried putting up with it. your eyes were finally drifting down and you sudden silence and lack of movement caught yelena’s attention.
“..y/n?” she called out, not hearing a response, she rushed to your side and immediately checked your pulse. “fuck,” she cursed, feeling how your pulse was barely there. she pulled you into her arms and rushed into her vehicle. she put you in the backseat and she quickly drove back to her motel. she carried you into her room and placed you carefully on her bed. she rushed to get the first aid kit she packed, she grabbed what she needed and started to fix you up, cursing to herself remembering it’s what she did that got you in this position.
she sat down on the chair next to her bed, eagerly waiting for you to wake up. yelena found herself asleep as you woke up in the morning. you groaned once again at the pain in your side, but silently gasped as you saw you were patched up. you looked around in the unfamiliar room and saw the girl you were crying with yesterday. you sat up hesitantly, the pain in your side still being fresh. you crawled over to her side and tapped her softly, even then, she grabbed the pistol next to her and aimed it at you before seeing it was just you. “oh my god, i’m sorry – it’s just second nature.” she replied, putting her gun down.
“um, are you alright?” she asked, gesturing to her side. “yeah, yep, thank you.. for fixing me up.” you awkwardly replied, giving her a small smile. the both of you sat in silence for a minute before you cleared your throat and started to sit up. “i’m gonna go–”
“no! don’t!” yelena immediately grabbed your arm to stop you from getting any further. “you’re still recovering.. and i swear i won’t go after clint. he should be safe,” she explained, looking eager. you weren’t trusting her, but you felt as if, if you went, you’d pass out on the way. “alright.. just, please don’t kill me. i haven’t gone to tokyo yet..”
surprisingly, your comment made yelena crack a smile. a small, toothless smile. but a smile nevertheless. “hm, okay. i promise.”
you reached into your pocket and found your burner phone. you immediately called clint, to which he answered right away.
“are you insane?! i thought you died!” he scolded through the phone. “i- i know, i’m sorry. i got hurt, but i’m alright now.” you replied, avoiding yelena’s eyes as you felt her staring at you. “where are you?” he asked, obviously worried. “i’m with.. um,” you looked up at her for permission in which she nodded. “yelena. i’m with yelena.”
“nat’s yelena?” he asked. “yes, nat’s yelena.” you replied, playing with your bracelets. “was she–”
“yes, yes, she was.” you knew clint was going to ask if she was the one going after him. you felt as if you didn’t need to say it out loud. “okay, i have one more meeting, then i’m leaving tomorrow. are you coming with me?”
“i don’t think i’m fit to, i’ll stay for a couple days and i’ll be right behind you.” clint hummed in understanding, “alright. i’ll call you later. stay safe, kid.” he said before ending the call.
“you’re staying longer?” yelena asks, chewing on her bottom lip. “uh, yeah. i figure it’ll be best for me to get myself healed before travelling.” you replied awkwardly. you heard her sigh before she speaks up, “i’m sorry.. for hurting you. and trying to hurt clint.”
you looked up at her in disbelief, “what? no! don’t apologize, you didn’t know the whole story and believe me, i would’ve done the same thing.” you tried reassuring her, but yelena wouldn’t look up at you. “hey,” you called out. “it’s okay, really. i’m still awake and clint is fine. the question i should be asking if you’re alright,” she didn’t reply to you, so you crawled closer to her and lifted her face up. her expression grew shocked and her eyes grew wide as she felt your hand on her face and felt how close you were. “your bruises don’t look that bad, you should still get them iced.”
yelena found herself distracted by the sight of your lips. she busted them open, but they still managed to look so pretty. pretty for her. “hey, you alright?” you asked, snapping her back. “oh, what? yes, i’m alright. it’ll heal soon,” she said, trying to dismiss you and get your hands off her face, but your grip grew tighter as you lifted her face back up. you blew into one of her cuts, making the older girl shiver. “i- i swear i’m okay..” she insisted, making you take a step back. “alright, you got it.”
–––––––
you spent the next few days with yelena and grew to understand her. you two got to know each other and realized you had more in common than you either of you thought. she was still pretty distant with you, and you never engaged anything because you were afraid of making her uncomfortable.
but both of you couldn’t hide your attraction for one another. yelena found you captivating and you thought she was charming.
yelena had been dismissing her feelings as she’d never felt any type of romantic feelings before. it was unfamiliar and frankly, she didn’t know if she liked it or not. but the more time she spent with you, the more she grew to accept the fact that she was growing feelings for you.
you were both sitting on her bed, watching a movie that was on cable. there was a painfully huge gap in between the both of you and yelena wanted nothing more, but to break that gap.
slowly and hesitantly, she moved closer to you. you didn’t notice at first, but when you felt her hand brush against yours, you flinched and realized what she was doing.
“lena?” you asked, turning to her. “are you alright?”
her face was merely an inch away from yours as her eyes travelled from your eyes to your lips. “yebat' eto, (fuck it,)” she whispered before placing her hands on your cheeks and softly placing her lips on yours. you instantly reciprocated her actions and pulled her closer than you already were.
after a few seconds of her pillowy lips on yours, you pulled back with yelena eagerly chasing your lips. you smiled as you leaned your forehead into hers. “are you alright?” you asked her sweetly.
“never been better,”

YOU GUYS ARE DATING
Corpse x MGK!sister reader
(Found this image on Pinterest so all credit goes to artist, if you know who it is please comment below so I can credit them)
A/N: this was requested by @heyitssab
Tree is tall of sex in this, but it’s more in a joking matter, plus corpse has stated he doesn’t mind as long as you are not a minor or send or tag him. I’m literally 2 years younger than him, and have no intentions of ever tagging him or sending him any of my work XD
Summary: how many idiots does it take to tell the brother and friend they’re dating? Apparently takes 2 very forgetful people, who kept their relationship secret without knowing it.
It had just been by chance, a small chance that he had been scrolling through his tags. liking and reposting art, when he saw a tag from someone he followed. He wrecked his brain for when he had followed her, coming up empty. She was cute, no denying the beauty she had as she laughed in the video. It was a clip from a stream that he didn’t know she had, as he couldn’t even remember her name, wearing his merch as it fit her snug. It fit her perfectly in fact, the large hood covering her face, hiding the flush to her face from her rather large chuckles that left her body. He couldn’t help but like the photo, and he couldn’t help but to press message either.
It was first only small likes to posts, an Occasional message, and a view on their livestreams, but that all changed when he spoke of the song he was working on with her older brother.
It all started that night, when both lay in their beds as they talked, laughed, and felt their hearts flutter each time they heard one another speak.
Her phone rang violently in her bag, nearly making her drop the to go bag all over the ground as she walked. “Hello?” She asked, as she held both bags with her hands as her shoulder gripped the phone as if it’d fall down a cliff. “Hey bug!” He exclaimed, making her chuckle as she heard the booming sound of his voice. She had always detested the nickname, as he gave it to her as kids due to her horrendous fear of the creatures. But, it brought more joy to her, as it reminded her of their youth. Having been adults for years, it was fun to hear such a childish name that’s stuck.
“Hey mopey.” She chuckled, as that was the name she gave him when he was in his emo phase that he never outgrew.
Both talked as she walked towards the elevator, mainly about how his day had gone as she silently listened.
She had always been this way, always the shyer of the two, the one to listen to others first before she said a word. He had teased her for it most of their childhood and teen life, but he had grown to love it, as he could let loose or rant to her about anything, and he knew she’d be there just to listen to him.
“So what’re you doing right now?” He asked, as she got into the elevator. “Just grabbed some dinner a few minutes before you called and nearly made me shit.” A smile painted on her face at his boisterous laughter.
“Are you at home?” He asked, as he heard the sound of the elevator beeping in the background. “No, I’m spending the night with my boyfriend.”
She had mentioned about a month prior that she was seeing someone, the joy it brought him to hear the excitement and joy in her tone as she gushed about their first date.
If this was 7 or 8 years prior, he would be bombarding her with questions about the man, who he was, where he lived, where he could meet him to find his intentions with his baby sister. But, in the last few years, he found himself feeling calmer whenever she’d mentioned her love life. He knew she was smart, and would never date a man who treated her poorly. The few breakups she had, they always ended amicably, her head still high as she told him. So, he never asked her any questions about the man, as he could tell from the few times she mentioned him, he could feel the love this man had for her, and Vice versa.
The strong barreling of her phone alerted them awake, both groaning out as she reached for her phone without lifting her head from his shoulder. “Hello?” She mumbled, voice slurred as the saliva was thick in her mouth, barely awake as she fought to listen in on who dares to wake them up.
“Hey!” He exclaimed, making her equally exhausted lover groan. She shifted off of him, laying on her back as he turned away from her, as to hopefully shut his eyes and fall back asleep. She was used to her brother's large voice, as it hardly phased her after growing up with him. “Colson, why are you calling me this ungodly hour?” “Oh come on, it’s not that early.” “Col its-“ She pulled her phone from her ear, eyes shutting violently as the bright light blinded her “5 o’clock in the morning. So again, I’m going to ask you, why did you call me at the asscrack of dawn?” “You don’t remember?” He asked, making her irritation grow. “No, that’s why I’m asking.” She says, as she rubbed her sleep crusted eyes. “You were coming up today to hang out with casie, remember?” Her hand stopped rubbing her face, as she felt her heart stop momentarily. “Wait, you mean today? I thought I was coming Friday?” “No, both of you settled on today, remember I told you that’s perfect because I have a day off?” She felt her heart pain as she heard the sadness in his tone, knowing he’s expecting her to bail. “Yeah sorry, I thought you meant Friday so I mixed it up, let me get ready and I’ll be out the door okay? Love you” she said, as she hung up the line.
Before she could even move, she felt his arm wrap around her body. A tired groan leaving his lips. “Nooo stayyyy.” He groaned, pulling her body to his. She smiled as she looked down at him, wrapping her arm on his chest and the other behind his neck. “I wish I could live, but I can’t.” Planting a soft kiss against his lips. “Stay in bed for a few more hours, please?” Her heart pulled at his tone, hearing just how tired he was. “I can’t, casies wanted me to come up for weeks now. And it takes a good 3 hours to get there. I wanna spend as much time as I can with them before it gets dark so I can get back safely.” He groaned at this, wrapping his arms around her. “Yeah but it’s only 5, it wouldn’t be safe to drive since we went to bed like, 2 hours ago.” “Yeah, and whos fault was that mister?” She teased, “hmm, sorry but I just couldn’t keep my hands to myself after not seeing you for a few days.” He mused, pulling her body closer to his, planting his lips against hers. A small hum left her lips as he pulled her thigh over his, grabbing the flesh harshly as their lips cascaded together. “Mm, no no no, you’re not gonna convince me to stay here just to go another round.” She said, as she got off from his warm body, throwing his large hoodie over her bare body. “Oh come on babe, are you sure about that?” He said, making her turn around to him. A small gasp left her lips as her eyes took in his milky white complexion. His honey brown eyes looking back at her with a small smile etched onto his face. His hair a tousled mess that resembled a bird's nest, some pieces falling onto his face. “Honey, I’ve been wanting to see my family for weeks now, I see you almost everyday and practically live here. I’ll be back tomorrow so I can grab more clothes from my place okay?” She placed a kiss to his lips, both holding one another in their arms. “I don’t know why you don’t just say fuck that place and just move in.” He mumbled, making her chuckle and heart warm. “Don't you think it’s a little soon though? I mean we’ve only been together a few months love.” “Yeah, but you’ve practically lived here since we got together, you literally just go there to get more clothes that you end up leaving here.” She looked into his eyes as she thought about his words. “Hm, I’ll think about it today okay?” She mused, planting a kiss to his lips. A soft okay leaving him as she got up.
“And babe, remember if you live here, we can have all the sex we want and not have to worry about driving to get one another.” He exclaimed, laughing at the loud honey she screamed from the bathroom.
She couldn’t help but laugh out as she watched, as her niece tried her hardest to braid her fathers grown out hair. It was near impossible not to, as pieces would fall out, resulting in her pulling them harsher, nearly pulling his eyelids back due to the tension from his temples. “Okay okay you’re gonna fuckin scalp me.” He chuckled , as all three bursted out in large laughter.
“So how’s school going this year?” She asked her, as she delicately painted her nails. Both of the girls had found themselves on the floor in front of the nice coffee table, as colson sat and chatted with them. “It’s going really well.” “Oh yeah? Make any new friends?” She teased. “I mean, kinda.” She couldn’t help but hear the wavering in her tone, spotting the faint blush dusting her skin. “Ohh, so there’s a someone eh?” She teased to her, making the preteen hide her face as to conceal the flush. “His names Garrett, and we both take social studies together. He always sits next to me at lunch, and we’ll draw on my notebook.” She gushed, making her smile. “Soo, do you think he likes you?” “I mean, that’s what everyone keeps saying.” “Yeah well don’t worry about it to much cas, you’re not dating anyone for many more years. You’re still a kid.” Her das said, making the young girls face fall.
Y/N knew he was only saying this to protect her, as he said the same thing to her growing up. “Hey, don’t be bummed out about it. He is right, you both are only 12 and should focus on school. But don’t worry, he’ll come around. He was just like that with me up until my current boyfriend.” She whispered, making the young girl chuckle.
“Speaking of which, how are you guys doing?” He asked, as she hadn’t mentioned hun to her in a while. He didn’t think it’d hurt to ask. “Great actually, we’re thinking of moving in together actually.” “That’s great! I’m really happy that y’all met.” “Yeah, I am too.” She hummed, a flush dusting her cheeks.
Both men laughed as they chatted on the phone, talking about anything that would come to mind. What was once only a collaboration for a song, turned into an amazing friendship that caused both of them to call at late hours just to shoot the shit.
A yawn left his lips, as he listened to colson ramble on about another song he was making. “Woah, you tired man?” Colson asked, shocked to hear the sound. “Yeah sorry, was up most of the night last night.” He mumbled, rubbing his eyes. “Were you feeling alright?” He asked, worry laced in his tone. He knew all about his friends illnesses, even once being on the other end of the phone during a bad spell one day.” “Oh yeah yeah yeah, was just, up with the misses last night.” He chuckled, a flush blooming on his cheeks. “Ohhh yeah? And how was it?” This shocked him, nearly feeling his heart stop. Like, does he usually know about his sisters sex life? He didn’t think much of it, as he knew just how close both were. “It was absolutely fucking amazing. Like I thought we’d be done for the night, fully tapped out but after like 5 minutes she’d be right back on me for another round.” He chuckled, his flush even worse than before. “Ayyyeee good for you corpse, glad to hear that puss is bussin.” He laughed at this, throwing his head back. “Yeah, it’s bussin bussin.”
Both men talk as they read from their phones, eyes wide in absolute awe of the love they received from the song. They had just dropped it a few days prior, not expecting the cry of joy from both fan bases.
He didn’t even look up from it when she walked in, until she bent down to plant a kiss to his forehead. “Sorry I had completely forgot about the tea I made you an hour ago, but I put it back on the stove to heat it up so if it’s twisting funky just tell me okay?” Before he could even thank her, both their heads whipped towards the loudness from the other line. “Y/N? Is that you? What in the hell are you doing there with corpse!” He didn’t sound angry, more shocked than anything, both of them looking at the phone in confusion. “I, I love here? Remember I told you like a month ago I was moving in with him?” “WHAT!” Both jumped at the loud scream. “Wait so you guys are dating!?” Both we’re even more perplexed, until it dawned on both of them. Their eyes wide as they turned their heads to one another slowly. “Wait you didn’t tell him?” “No? He’s one of your best friends so I thought you did!” “He’s your brother! So I thought you did!” Both whisper, until all three lay silent. That was until, the large cry of laughter that leaves the two, leaving colson even more confused. He wasn’t mad, not at all actually. More shocked and confused than anything. Until he started thinking, it does make sense, all the times they spoke about one another without him knowing, all the times they mentioned-“OH GOD!” He yelled, gagging violently, making them stop their laughing fit. “What's wrong? Why are you yelling?” She asks “like a month ago corpse was talking about how he was tired cause he was up all night having sex AND I HAD NO IDEA HE WAS TALKING ABOUT YOU! OH GOD WAS THAT WHY YOU WERE LIMPING THAT DAY WITH CAS AND I!” Both laugh even harder, as they listen to his ever growing gags.
“So yeah,. That’s literally how we had no idea we were keeping the relationship secret from her brother.” He laughed, as he red the comments and listened to his friends' laughter. She sat beside him, head laying on his shoulder as he told the story. She couldn’t help but to look back up into his eyes, as he glanced down at her, planting a soft kiss to her lips. “Keep it pg guys.” Colson said from the other line, making them chuckle.

I’m curious to get your opinion on two things regarding the AC games:
1. The sequences set in modern time/the modern aspects of the stories
2. The supernatural aspects of the stories
I’m not the biggest fan of either of those facets of the games, but Odyssey and Valhalla (especially the latter) really just went too far in my opinion.
I tolerated the modern sequences in the older games with Desmond Miles. I definitely didn’t enjoy them, as they always pulled me from the game, but I understood it was a staple of the franchise. The closest I ever came to enjoying them was with Black Flag. Now, though, I just can’t stand them. I find them boring and overblown. The plot is stupidly convoluted. I don’t care about anyone other than Shaun and Rebecca, and it seems like Ubisoft just brought them in as fan service. But the whole Basim thing really just tipped me over the edge. Holy shit was that stupid. I know it’s a staple of the franchise, but I genuinely wish Ubisoft would just ditch the modern story lines and focus on the story people actually care about.
As for the supernatural elements, I think Ubisoft has just gone way off course. I don’t mind the whole Pieces of Eden thing—I actually think it’s interesting. But Ubisoft has made supernatural stuff the centerpiece of their games. It’s like they said “Well, we don’t know how to make an interesting plot, so let’s just throw in a bunch of gods and mythical creatures!” The historical basis of the AC games is what makes them so interesting, but Ubisoft is abandoning that. They’re barely even tethered to reality anymore. Valhalla just seems like a much shittier version of God of War. I want the villain to be an actual historical figure not a watered-down Loki.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. It just kinda pisses me off seeing what’s been done to the AC franchise. Odyssey and especially Valhalla just don’t seem like AC games anymore. I honestly think that if you took away the title, people would have a hard time associating the games to the franchise.
But I’m curious to hear your thoughts!
P.S. Sorry about any formatting issues, I’m on mobile.
Another essay incoming.
1. The modern storylines are not my favorite. They never have been. I’m mainly playing Assassin’s Creed to run around in different periods of history, murder people, and do sick parkour moves. While the modern-day portion has never been a personal favorite, in the end, I did not mind Desmond. He was his own fully realized character with motivations and responsibilities, and in the previous games, that worked. We had two coherent storylines running side-by-side together. Desmond’s story was fleshed out very well, and most players became emotionally invested in what happened to him, myself included. The Creed was an integral part of his story, and he was vital to the success of the early games.
Another reason why I did not mind Desmond was because of how the Animus functioned in earlier games. The user had to be descended from the historical protagonists (i.e., Desmond’s bloodline was descended from Altaïr, Ezio, the Kenways), so it put a huge emphasis on his role in fighting the Templars/Abstergo —hundreds of years had been leading up to this. That meaning began to crumble in Black Flag with someone (the player) being able to relive Edward’s memories with just Desmond’s DNA, but the family connection was still there. Then that meaning was completely lost beginning in Origins, where we are introduced to Layla, who can go around picking up anyone’s DNA and then pop on her VR Animus or jump into a portable one. The key aspect of why the Animus was so special was completely lost in that moment.
Now Layla. This is when I began to view the modern-day component as just an obstacle to overcome as quickly as possible to get back to the much more interesting historical gameplay. Layla is poorly written in my opinion. She is an awful, irritating, arrogant, and selfish character. There is barely anything likable about her and, during Odyssey especially, she got worse as the story progressed into the Atlantis DLC. The whole time during the main story, she ignores or refuses the advice and help from her friends, especially Victoria, who she later kills, and in my opinion, proves why she is an unsuitable person to be the Heir of Memories. Also, it rubs me wrong that when the Eagle Bearer hands over the Staff and dies, the first thing she does is, “oh, let me just hop into the Animus again right next to the corpse of the person I’ve been living as.” And in the end, it looks like the over two thousand years Alexios/Kass spent as the Keeper was pretty much for nothing, ouch.
When they announced Layla would still be in Valhalla, I let out a very loud, very displeased groan because I knew it would mean suffering through the modern-day parts before I could get back to being a Viking (and I hated every single Animus Anomaly too, my god). And by the end of the Valhalla, I was ready to say good riddance (and I did), but at the same time, her ending essentially negated the importance of Alexios/Kass’s story. And yes, Shaun and Rebbeca were most definitely there as fan service and reiterate that this new and ridiculous modern storyline is still somehow tied to what happened in the previous games.
At this rate, I don’t think Ubisoft even knows where the modern-day storyline is going anymore, and in general, perspective changes in RPG games just don’t work. It breaks the immersion and becomes super annoying. After the Desmond arc ended, Ubisoft should have either done away with the modern-day connection completely or rethought the design so you aren’t pulled out of the game every 5 to 10 hours to be reminded “hey, you’re actually a lady wearing a VR headset and this is still an Assassin’s Creed game.” If the games must continue to have a modern-day component, then a few cutscenes at the beginning and end should suffice.
2. The mythological aspect with the Isu has been present since the beginning of the series, and up until Odyssey was handled very well, I think. I do like the mythological aspects, to a certain degree. The backstory for this has been there and steadily growing since the first game. We knew about the First Civilization and the Great Catasphroe and that it was important, and why it the Apples of Eden and other artifacts couldn’t fall into Templar hands but then beginning with Odyssey, that direction was completely lost. I think I know what Ubisoft wants to do, but their writing and storytelling skills are not up to par with what they used to be.
It does make sense though that the Isu are seen as gods to different peoples, and that's about where things stop making sense. Just with Aletheia, her story between Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology is super convoluted and could have been better executed. Also of note, if a single Isu is meant to be a deity across several cultures, then who is the Greek and Roman equivalent of Havi, Loki, Thor, Freya? Or is Aletheia the only one with a triple persona? It doesn’t make sense, and considering the future plans for Assassin’s Creed as an online Fortnite-esque battle royale pay-to-win, I doubt a lot of these questions and plot holes will ever be answered.
I won’t even begin to discuss the issues with the actual mythologies they are using but I’m sure @mrsragnarlodbrok can tell you all about how they have misinterpreted/ruined certain aspects of the gods and nature of Norse Mythology.
3. As for the last two games not feeling like Assassin’s Creed? It’s because they aren’t. The introduction of player choice into the RPG game style effectively negated everything that made an Assassin’s Creed game feel like an Assassin’s Creed game. Odyssey was more of a way to explore the origins of a proto-Templar society with the Cult of Kosmos. And while Valhalla had assassins and a hidden blade for the protagonist, it was not centered on the brotherhood (and I quite like that Eivor did not join them, tbh) but on how the Order of Ancients began to transform and establish themselves into the Templar Order.
Odyssey and Valhalla have taken a lot of material from other games (God of War, The Witcher, and Shadow of Mordor and War, to name some of the ones that come to mind), almost to a degree where I’m asking myself how Ubisoft has gotten away with it. The mercenary system in Odyssey was a very poorly done mockery of the Nemesis System from the Shadow of Mordor games. Many of the “new” skills in Valhalla (and by the looks of it, the new DLC too) are just straight up from Shadow of War. It’s been quite some time since the Assassin’s Creed series added something fresh for the video game world, in my opinion, and at this point, Ubisoft is just milking this money cow for as long as they can. Could Ubisoft make an open-world RPG set in history? Yes. Should they have done that for the Odyssey and Valhalla? Probably, but if they slap that Assassin’s Creed logo on it and make up a poorly written storyline that somewhat connects to the golden Ezio trilogy, then it’ll sell more copies.
#sierra replies#its honestly just all about the money at this point#Ubisoft could have definitely made a historical game without the ties to Assassin's Creed on the scale of Ryse: Son of Rome#and it wouldve been fine#imagine playing as Leonidas with no tie to the Isu or AC#or playing as a Viking raider slowing gaining and amassing power#no ties to AC needed#but alas#money and capitalism always win#the golden days of AC are over#anonymous#AC: Valhalla#AC: Odyssey#Assassin's Creed#Desmond Miles#Layla Hassan#discourse

August 14, 2021 - Family
Sure
Summary: Inuyasha & Kagome discuss starting a family
“Knee,” Kagome whined softly as her foot prodded her husband’s leg so it would go where she wanted, “Knee Inuyasha.”
With a tired sigh, Inuyasha slid his foot up until it rested comfortably against his thigh and adjusted his hips so falling asleep in that position wouldn’t make him lock up. It was a tried and true ritual. One that he didn’t mean to perpetuate but Kagome was always the last one to go to bed. Always. So by the time she changed and brushed her hair and washed her face and did whatever else she felt inclined to do, he was typically asleep in a position he found comfortable. Kagome told him he slept like a vampire but having met and fought vampires Inuyasha had no idea what she was talking about. Besides, he didn’t know why it had always seemed to matter how he slept. Sitting up had just been how he’d done it for over a hundred years and even though three years had gone by, he still wasn’t used to those while laying down business. Having a body trained not to move wasn’t ideal for laying down and he usually woke up stiff. His muscles locking up for absolutely no reason out of habit. Sitting up, having muscles that locked was useful. Not so for how the rest of the world went down for the night.
Still, Kagome slept laying down. Always had. Always would. And he planned on sleeping next to her for the rest of her hopefully long life. Which killed the monk. Even occasional overnight exorcisms were out of the question. Sunup to sundown only.
“That better?” he yawned and Kagome nodded against the arm she was using as a pillow while Inuyasha’s hand absently played with tendrils of her hair.
One of the things he liked best was that in this position he could feel her ribs expand with each breath and the steady rhythm was soothing. Every couple found a sleeping position that worked for them it would seem and with his primary issue being hardwired survival anxiety, a cuddling position where no backs were being exposed worked best.
Problem with this position was that it’d make co-sleeping with an infant dangerous. Not that…that they were trying or even planning on having brats. Hell, they’d never spoken about it but by some unspoken understanding, they’d been careful. Kinda. Sometimes. Okay, fine, mainly they’d been whinging it and been lucky as hell.
But…you know…maybe one day…
Lips twitching upward, Inuyasha allowed himself to imagine what their own puffy blob of flesh would look like. Newborn babies…well they weren’t exactly the cutest things in the planet. More they looked like boiled prunes - both in color and looks. And the screams. But once they hit a few months old they definitely started looking more like tiny people and you could start seeing the parents. From a strangers perspective anyway. Miroku’s twins had always looked identical but they went through phases and who they favored depended on which parent was standing closest….
God he hoped whatever they had one day - not that he was even sure they’d have babies - was a girl. He’d make a decent looking boy or girl. After all, minus the coloring, he looked just like his mother who had been very pretty. Kagome…Kagome would only make a pretty girl. Sota sure as hell didn’t look like her though so maybe there were some okay looking boy genes in there but Inuyasha for the life of him could not imagine what a Kagome-looking boy would even be.
Nah. If they did one day have a…
“Why you purring?” Kagome hummed bemusedly in such a way that left him powerless to stop said noise. A noise that he’d only discovered he made since she fell back into his life. At first it bothered him that she called the chest growl thing a ‘purr’ but seeing as how he didn’t have a better name, he just rolled with it.
“Dunno,” he laughed softly.
“What were you thinking about?” Kagome hummed as she slowly and awkwardly began trying to roll towards him - something which had the purring noise stop immediately. It didn’t matter that his brain knew they were safe and there was no need to worry about being exposed. His body though….was hard wired to worry.
She froze.
“I didn’t…”
“S’not the question. It’s the stupid back thing,” Inuyasha reassured her wearily before running one hand over his face, “Look, I was thinking about us having kids, alright?”
The slow smile that bloomed on her lips as she sat up brought the soft purring sound back.
“And what were your initial thoughts?” Kagome asked curiously and the purring sound intensified.
“How newborns look like meat sacks,” he offered as he stretched his legs out and yawned, “And how they’re loud. And obnoxious. And how they shit everywhere…”
“Ah but said things made you happy,” Kagome observed and shrugging, Inuyasha didn’t deny it. Couldn’t anyway given the vibrations rumbling from his chest. Well, that was what they assumed it meant anyway. Could be he was dying or something. Wouldn’t that be the final kick in the balls.
“Thinking about it and living it are two different things. Reality is I’d fuck them up,” Inuyasha countered with an ill-checked half-grin, “You’d have to go around fixing them all the time.”
“You’d be a good daddy,” Kagome soothed as she lay back down and stared up at the ceiling - allowing Inuyasha to fully relax by covering her back. She never really thought of Inuyasha as the anxious type but apparently that was his secret to surviving so long and once they’d figured it out and pinned down his triggers to better avoid them, he’d actually been significantly less…grumpy. In fact, he could be downright pleasant most of the time.
Miroku and Sango had told her on more than one occasion that Inuyasha seemed, at times, like a completely new person. In public, he was still by and large snippy and obstinate but among friends and in private, his natural state of being sans anxiety was much more Kagome-like than any of them previously believed. Looking back, he had always seemed to find comfort in being around others but he was never what anyone would call sensitive or attune to emotional needs of others. In recent months, however, he’d been surprisingly observant, kind and gentle.
Well, actually it wasn’t all that surprising. The gentleness yes but the rest of it? No. Every time one of them lost it during the quest, Inuyasha was always the one who stepped up and did exactly the right thing to bring his friends’ minds back to center. In fact, his brand of abrasive encouragement was what saved their souls from being devoured by the moth demon’s trap. Whenever any of them felt like giving up, Inuyasha had been the one to encourage them to keep going. In some ways Inuyasha was so forgiving it was beyond understanding. For all his insults and for all his aggression, Inuyasha could be…damningly gracious. Kikyo being, well, Kikyo. Sango stealing his sword. Miroku trying to kill him. Shippo pulling trick after trick. None of those things ever drove him away.
That wasn’t to say Inuyasha didn’t get irritable or react poorly when said things happened but he did tend to let things go eventually and truly act like nothing happened. And his brand of love was protection and providing so there was that too.
So maybe it wasn’t all that surprising that being kind and gentle was his calm state of being. Now that he was more comfortable and no one was in imminent danger of dying a horrible, painful death; now that Kagome had been returned to him and everything worked out, how his natural being manifested was different was all.
But his anxiety still did rear it’s ugly head on occasion. New things. Unexpected things. Any slightly uncomfortable thing and he’d instantly snap his abrasive behavior back into place. There were also his triggers of course but those could be negated.
For example, he never slept with his back exposed and now that Kagome was, sorta, an extension of himself, his body decided to make him skittish at night if she too was left ‘open to attack.’ Not fun for anyone involved - the amount of twitching alone had kept them both awake until they figured out the issue.
“Don’t know how to be a father,” he sighed sadly - the purring sound grounding to halt, “So maybe…maybe kids isn’t something we should do. What…what if I hurt them? They won’t be like me. They’ll be mostly human. I’ll be too rough.”
“No because of that fear, I imagine you’d treat them like they might shatter,” Kagome pointed out and with that, Inuyasha reached over to intertwine their fingers.
“I could turn one day. You…or they might get hurt and I’ll make it worse,” he offered in a small voice, “I’m dangerous. I shouldn’t…and what if they can’t control what I give them? What if they’re born and…and they’re just like that all the time?”
Turning her head to look at his defeated face, Kagome sighed and waited for him to look at her. When he did, the worry mixed with longing made her heart ache. He wanted kids. That much was clear from his expression as was the fact that he didn’t trust himself.
“Inuyasha, I always bring you back, don’t I?” she pointed out and with a faint nod of acknowledgment, her statement seemed to soothe some of the anxiety that needed checking, “And our baby will be part me too. So it’ll have both….”
“It could purify itself. Hurt itself,” he countered shakily, “And we’re happy just the two of us. What if I’m a bad father and you end up hating me? What if it ends up being a mistake? Ruins everything?”
“I will never abandon you,” Kagome promised as she brought his hand up to her lips and gave his thumb a quick kiss, “Never.”
A nod and a relieved sigh. Like he knew that to be the case but wanted to hear it anyway. There was still some tension though which meant his fears hadn’t been addressed completely and so Kagome waited for him to continue. It had taken a few months but anymore he discussed everything with her. From feelings to fears to his past. The only thing off the table was Kikyo but that was more her hang up than his.
From his perspective, he found himself much lighter when he heard her opinion rather than just imaging what she was thinking. His inner monologue was usually depressing and rather cruel. Always assuming everyone hated him or was upset with him in some way. That everyone thought the worst. How he needed to receive love was verbal affirmations. Kagome would’ve thought it was touch but she discovered words were much more effective. What would’ve happened if she just told him back then how deeply he was loved? But, alas, she didn’t and it didn’t matter. In fact, that would’ve been worse. What if he achieved this and then had her taken away?
“I mean, do you want kids? You’ve never really said…” Inuyasha asked wearily and Kagome knew if she said yes, he’d do whatever she wanted. Even if it terrified him.
No. This needed to be his choice. His decision.
“What do you want?”
For a long moment, he was quiet before he swallowed and closed his eyes.
“I think you want them,” he answered evasively before pulling up one knee and fidgeting slightly, “And I don’t know. I want…I want, you know, the type of things Sango and Miroku have with their brats. And what I had with my mother before she got sick. I want someone to…to…you know, there’s just some type of connection. I…I wouldn’t mind being a brat’s person.”
“Their person?” Kagome asked curiously and Inuyasha let out a long sigh as he swayed his knee.
“Like…like you know they’ll take care of you. You scrape your knee. They fix it. You get hungry, they give you snacks. You get sad and just…just they….,” Inuyasha floundered before seemingly choosing a word to describe what he meant, “A helper. I wouldn’t mind being their helper.”
“You’d be the best helper,” Kagome sighed affectionately and Inuyasha eyes fluttered open.
“You really think so? I don’t have the…the warm thing going…”
Nodding, Kagome gently rolled onto her side and scooted her back against his torso. Like clockwork, he assumed their former position and sighed contentedly.
“You…” she belatedly started to address his comment but he was already off to the races.
“I could work on that though. You know, with the twins,” Inuyasha opined hopefully - like he was trying to convince her that he could be a good father and encourage her to say yes, “See…see if I could get better at the whole…whole warm thing. I bet I could get the hang of it in a month or two. I mean look at how fast I mastered Tessaiga. You wouldn’t have to worry about…about me scarring the kid.”
“That has never been a concern,” Kagome chided affectionately earning a frustrated grunt. Oh yeah, he was trying to get her to just make the decision or convince her to just agree with his decision. A decision he’d clearly already made.
“Inuyasha, I know you’d be a great daddy,” Kagome finally yawned - earning a faint blush, “But don’t push yourself just because you think I want this. I only want babies if you do too. I’m honestly okay either way.”
She felt him inhale deeply.
“I think…I think I’ll see if…if I can do the warm thing then we can decide,” Inuyasha hummed before adding hesistantly, “I think I can do it but I wanna be sure.”
“I…”
“I mean, I’m pretty sure I could do it,” Inuyasha continued to think out loud, “But I just want to be sure, ya know? And I want you to be sure I’m good for it.”
At this, Kagome laughed softly despite herself - the hand by her head sliding up to cup his. Curling her fingers between his fingers, she pressed her fingertips against his palm.
“I know you can do…”
“J-just think about it,” Inuyasha interrupted shakily as he gave her hand a light squeeze “A-and I’ll think about it. And we can…talk about it when we’re sure.”
The miko grinned and replied with a soft laugh, “Sure.”
“Will you be mad if I…I think about it and say no?” he asked hesitantly and Kagome shook her head - making some of the tension seep out of him. For a long time, he was quiet and Kagome was just about to pass out when she heard his voice - small and timid - whisper those three little words he didn’t say that often.
“I love you. You know that, right?”
“I know. You show me all the time,” she affirmed and with a timid half-smile, Inuyasha flexed his hand ever so.
“Just want to make sure you know…”
“I do.”
“And you still love me, right?”
“Always.”
“Okay. Just want to make sure…”

Snakes in the Garden (Porco)
Summary: Unnamed female character is a spy sent to Marley by the Scouts. Her mission is to extract information from the Jaw Titan. Rated: M (Suggestive themes but nothing explicit)
Long Post under cut.
Nestled away in a quiet business district with the lights turned low and the music a soft hum in the night, she almost believed she had entered the wrong place before she had a chance to look around. The bar was not the kind of establishment she was used to back in Paradis. Unlike the bars back in her island with their loud music and slurring strangers, the Eldian bar in Marley was quiet.
A low song was playing from a live band and the people inside were each speaking quietly to their neighbor. A lifetime of secrecy in a country that despised the blood in their veins had taught each Eldian to be as meek as a dormouse. The Eldians at the bar were painfully aware of the guards stationed nearby and desperately sought to fly under the radar to escape notice.
Her frame lingered by the bar a second longer as her eyes scanned every which way.
This late in the evening, with the moon peeking behind the clouds, there were very few souls around. Most Eldians had retreated inside their homes by now leaving the bar mostly empty. Asides from a few stragglers still trying to squeeze out some last few moments from the night, the place was quiet.
Sliding into a stool at the bar, she bit the inside of her cheek.
Zeke had told her he would be here. According to the Eldian defector, Porco Galliard frequented the place more often than not. Zeke was convinced she would find him here nursing a pint of something at the bar with his head down and his walls firmly up.
Thus far, she couldn’t find him anywhere. She had memorized his photograph before leaving Paradis, had studied him and the other Warriors fervently before making the long voyage, but had, had little luck finding any of them.
The Mid-East War had just ended and most soldiers had returned. Zeke had told her Galliard had returned along with the other Warriors, but she had, had no luck finding him. He hadn’t dropped by his family home yet and his favorite haunts were devoid of his presence.
This bar was the last place she could think of scoping out before giving up. Hopefully he’d show up here and end her one way game of cat and mouse.
Motioning for a bartender, she drummed her nails against the wooden countertop. Being this exposed in Marley made her nervous. The hairs at the back of her neck were almost standing up as she bristled with every stare.
Since she had come to Marley on a spying mission from Paradis, she had been utterly careful on who she talked to and where she went. She never lingered in one area of Liberio for too long and was always sure to keep her head down whenever the Marleyan soldiers walked past.
Being at a bar in plain view and not tucked away in some alleyway was a change she wasn’t sure she liked.
Still, she was growing desperate.
Her orders back in Paradis had been very clear. She was to find the Warriors and approach them. The intel they offered could be valuable and a chance to learn more about their abilities could easily sway things in Paradis’ favor.
The bartender startled her out of her reverie when he appeared and asked for her order. She had no idea what names they used for alcohol here and hesitated as she tried to think of something.
Thankfully, she was spared a chance to answer.
A lone figure slid into the stool next to her and asked for a cocktail she had never heard of in a bored tone. The bartender accepted his order, and she asked for the same in response.
As he left to prepare their drinks, she eyed the stranger next to her.
The young man was tall with blonde hair and an aloof expression on his face. He slumped against his chair as if tired and yawned into his hand. When he moved his arm, she caught sight of a red armband against his black jacket.
Her breath hitched just slightly and she was glad he was facing away from her and paid her little mind.
She had studied each Warrior’s photograph and knew exactly who he was. Porco Galliard. Her target.
Well, I’ll be damned.
She quietly took stock of him as he waited for his drink. He had yet to notice her presence and was preoccupied with picking a piece of lint off his pants. He seemed to have no weapons on him and made no indication of being with a partner or friend for the night. That was good. If he was alone, she would only have to worry about chatting him up and not an acquaintance.
When the bartender returned with their drinks, she saw her opening.
Reaching for hers, she let her hand move just slightly. ‘Accidentally’ knocking into his glass, she jerked her hand to the side and sent it tumbling off the bar counter. His drink splashed all over his pants and sent ice cubes rolling down onto the floor.
He jerked up with a curse, and she jumped up too with napkins in hand.
“Oh! I’m so sorry!” She offered him a napkin and widened her eyes just slightly to seem nervous.
“-uck, that’s cold!” He tore the napkins out of her grip and scrubbed them against the front of his pants. Whatever drink had been in the glass had stained the white fabric, and the napkin only made things worse.
Irritated, he jerked his head towards her and she was met with his cold gaze.
“Nice going!” He growled out the words and bit back whatever other insult was forming on his mouth when he saw her shrink back.
She bowed her head and made sure to let him see how her hands shook when she extended another napkin his way.
“I’m so, so sorry sir! I didn’t mean to,” she offered another apology.
Sending a pointed look at his red armband, she made herself shrink in. Stepping into the role of her character, she led the charade fall into place all around her.
In this moment, she was a quiet Eldian girl who was terrified of being reprimanded. Having just spilled her drink on the lap of an Honorary Marleyan, she could only imagine the fall out. Her eyes were wide with fright and her hands shook as more apologies spilled out of her lips.
When his eyes softened at the display, she hid her smirk. It seemed the acting classes she had taken as a child in Paradis had served a purpose after all.
He accepted her apology and waved her away when she offered to give him her drink.
“Ok, I get it. It was an accident,” he sat back down and threw the used napkins away in a nearby bin, “Did you get any on you?”
His voice was still rough when he spoke to her, but her earlier display had gotten through to him. His eyes were no longer cold and she could tell she was chipping away at his walls. If she played her cards right, she could knock them right down the way the Colossal had knocked down Wall Maria in her childhood.
“I’m fine,” she offered him her drink again, “Here. An amend. I really didn’t mean to.”
Setting the glass in front of him, she didn’t give him a chance to reject her again.
Galliard opened his mouth to disagree then shrugged and accepted the piece offering.
“I haven’t seen you before,” he eyed, “Is this your first time here?”
She bit her lip the way she had seen other girls do when they were timid.
“It is, I usually don’t drink.”
He drained his glass in one gulp and motioned for the bartender to give him a refill. Without asking, he also purchased a new glass for her. She accepted him with a thank you.
“What made you come here of all places? This isn’t exactly a place where I would expect someone like you,” Porco asked. He motioned towards the bar to highlight his point.
By now, the live band had stopped playing and started packing their instruments. The last few stragglers were older men with white armbands on their coats looking for some last few moments of peace before returning home to their families.
Zeke had mentioned this bar was mainly for soldiers and men who needed a quiet place to wind down after a long deployment. It really wasn’t the kind of place a young girl like her would frequent.
“I wanted to try this place out. My dad spent a lot of time here before he-”
She cut herself off then and bit her lip again. The silence grew as she hesitated and he seemed to understand the hidden meaning. Her fingers tightened on her glass.
“The Mid-East War?” He eyed her out of the corner of his eye.
She nodded. “Yeah, we got the letter last month.”
His jaw tightened and he set his second empty glass down on the counter top. “Shit. Sorry.”
A gruff sympathy but still a sympathy. She looked away to hide the satisfaction burning in her eyes.
In preparation for the voyage, Zeke and Yelena had offered plenty about Marley and the Warriors. They had each taken the time to teach her about how to act and what to say to cruise under the radar.
It was Zeke who had stressed how to behave with the Warriors to her. He had spoken about each person at length and given her firm instructions as to how to proceed. She could almost hear his voice inside her head now repeating one of his many lessons.
“Galliard is a tough one, but he’s not impossible. He’s prickly like a cactus-huh, guess you don’t know what that is but whatever-it just means he has a harsh exterior. He’s going to be closed off when you meet and will probably not let you in easily if you just approach him. He’s naturally selective with who he surrounds himself with and suspicion comes to him second nature. If you flirt with him or try to get too close right off the bat, he’ll back off from you and assume you’re just another Eldian desperate to marry into Marleyan citizenship. Instead, you have to use his weaknesses against him. He’s still mourning the loss of Marcel. The wound is fresh, and he’ll be more likely to sympathize with someone who he thinks lost family to war too...”
So far, it seemed he had been right.
She let her shoulders droop and thought about her own father. Her real father was buried somewhere under the rubble of Shinganshina. He had died years ago when the Colossal had knocked down the wall and led all the Titans in. She had seen him and her mother get swallowed before running away.
Sorrow filled her and she clenched her teeth together. Beneath the pain there was anger. She let the rage steel her in her mission and reminded herself of why she was doing this.
Marley had destroyed her home and killed her family. She promised she would do the same to it. If Porco was her way to fight back, then she would play him like a song and wield him like a knife.
“Did you return from your deployment?”
She allowed herself to ask him a question. He had been swirling the last few drops of his liquor around in his glass and the ice made a melody as it thumped against the sides.
He shrugged and leaned back in his chair. “Came back some time ago. I was stationed in Fort Slava.”
She let some surprise register on her face although she had known that already. She knew a lot of things about him.
“Then you helped in the victory. I should be the one buying you drinks,” she offered him a soft smile.
Under the dim light, she thought she saw the faintest hint of color on his cheeks.
Unsure if it was her or the alcohol, she slid her second untouched glass his way. When he raised an eyebrow, she offered him a light smile.
“I’m not one for alcohol. Take it.”
He accepted the glass and took a long sip. She hoped the alcohol would make him buzzed. Maybe some liquid courage would help her loosen his lips.
The Jaw Titan had to have some intel she could gather. Compared to the others, his rank was lower since he was still brand new in inheriting his abilities, but he could be useful. Maybe she could use him as an in. Growing close to him might just let her have access to the Cart Titan and the others.
“You’re not going to ask?” His eyes met hers over the rim of his glass.
“Ask?” She tilted her head to the side inquisitively. Yelena had told her the action made her seem more innocent and less deceitful.
It worked. Some of the remaining tension in his shoulders receded and he wiped at his mouth with his sleeve.
“About the battle. All everyone wants to ask about is how the battle played out and what happened. I’m like a personal history book to these people.”
His tone was dry and he glared at the far wall. She stared at her hands.
”Galliard is bitter about Marley and the war efforts. He’s not obedient like other soldiers and will complain and bad mouth the efforts when he thinks no one will hear him. Don’t let that shock you. Just let him vent and make yourself a sympathetic ear, but don’t add anything to the fire. He’s likely to grow even more suspicious if he finds an ally in you so quickly.”
Zeke’s counsel replayed in her mind and she let the silence linger just a second longer than necessary. Feigning a wince, she tapped her knuckles nervously against the counter.
“To be honest, I’m sick of hearing about the war. All of the soldiers that fought with my dad keep writing about the battles he fought in and how brave he was. I could do with a different topic.”
He glanced at her and some of the ire melted away out of his gaze. He grunted under his breath something that sounded like a “good” and shook his head.
“I just realized I never got your name,” he eyed her.
The fake name Yelena had come up for her spilled past her lips easily. It was a common Eldian name that wasn’t likely to raise any suspicions. He accepted it without much thought.
“Porco,” he mumbled in turn.
The last few customers at the bar made their way out the door. She glanced out the window and realized it was almost pitch black. One glance at the bartender, and she realized he was just waiting on them to close up.
“I should probably get going, I start my job tomorrow.”
Porco stood up too and threw some Marleyan bills at the counter. She noticed he had paid for her too.
“You don’t have to-”
“I drank them, you didn’t touch them,” he shoved his hands into his pockets and waited.
She realized he was waiting for her to lead the way, and she finished buttoning up her coat.
“I’ll walk you home, yeah? Liberio isn’t exactly safe for a girl all alone at night,” He didn’t wait for her this time and left out the door in front of her.
She was glad his back was turned. It meant he missed the small smirk that played on her lips.
- - -
Despite the alcohol he had consumed, his steps were measured and easy. She apologized to him for being such a bother and making him walk so far.
He shrugged his shoulders and cut her off.
“I’m headed this way anyway,” he looked away.
He was definitely not headed that way. His family home was a good fifteen minute walk from where they were, but she didn’t say anything. Perhaps it was the liquor on his breath, but the tips of his ears had reddened just slightly.
Some confidence filled her and she ‘accidentally’ bumped their hands together. Withdrawing them with an apology, she caught the way his breath hitched.
Yelena had told her she was beautiful, and that she could use that to suit her mission. Galliard was a man same like any other. He had his weaknesses and a pretty face would help her.
The streets were dark which made her next move easy.
Pretending to trip on an uneven piece of the sidewalk, she let herself collide with his back. He managed to catch her before she could fall face first and his arm wrapped around her waist in surprise. She felt more than saw the way his face burned at the realization that she was now in his grasp.
Feigning embarrassment, she pressed her hand to her mouth and widened her eyes. “I’m so sorry! First I spill my drink and then I almost knock you over!”
She looked away and made her eyes water on command the way she had been taught in acting classes all those years ago. It was her experience that men tended to melt when they saw a woman prepared to cry. Some tears and a quiet sniffle got them to lower their guard down every time.
Porco was no different.
He shook his head and looked away. “It’s okay, you’re fine. Did you hurt your ankle?”
He seemed concerned as he traced his hand down her leg. It was an excuse to touch her, and she was grateful he hadn’t seen the way her eyes lit up in success.
She had him. Hook, line, and sinker.
Still, she couldn’t rush her hand. Zeke had warned her about seeming too eager to get close to the Warriors. They were a close, private bunch and wouldn’t let an outsider in too easily. She had to play her cards close to the chest.
She thanked him for his concern and placed her hand over his. His skin was hot to the touch and his arm tensed in surprise at the contact. He wasn’t used to being touched, yet he didn’t move his arm.
“My house is over there,” she pointed to a random neighborhood, “You can just leave me here. I don’t want you to have to walk all this way.”
He seemed like he didn’t want to leave, and she was smug. She really did have him in her web. Just a little more and he would fall in head first.
“Are you sure?”
He seemed like he wanted her to ask him to stay. Perhaps he was hoping to score her for the night. Maybe he had some pent up stress and figured a pretty girl was a nice way to relax.
But that wasn’t her mission. Her mission was much deeper than just a quick night.
She released his hand and moved away from him letting some formality fall between them. Her smile was polite as she shook her head and waved him off.
“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry,” she turned away.
She feigned taking a step away from him before stopping. Moving fast, she leaned forward and pressed a chaste kiss to his cheek. It was a coy move she had learned worked well on men. It was innocent enough to be dismissed as a platitude, but the way her lips lingered on his skin just slightly could be easily interpreted as interest.
He made a sound at the back of his throat and burned bright red. She moved her head away and offered him a quiet thank you for walking all this way.
As she turned away from him, he called her name.
“Wait. Can I see you again?”
He sounded awestruck and she was glad she had managed to trick him into drinking all that alcohol. His walls had lowered enough for her to sneak her way in like a Trojan Horse.
Lowering her head in a meek and shy way, she gave a polite smile. “Maybe.”
Then, purposefully leaving him wanting, she walked away.
- - -
After that first introduction, it was easy to continue playing him. Working her magic, she played him like an instrument.
The next day after that she arrived at the hospital to check on the returning soldiers. Zeke had forged some paperwork and gotten her a job as a civilian nurse. She assumed it was easy for him to do so since his grandfather had once been a doctor.
She had arrived to her first shift the next day-
Coincidentally when the Warriors were due for their checkup. Porco had frozen in shock at the door when he had walked in and seen her. He had hesitated and asked her what she was doing before she had feigned her own surprise and told her she was a nurse.
The entire time she worked alongside the doctor performing his physical, she had been aware of the looks he threw her. It seemed her little kiss last night was still on his mind. His cheeks were almost a permanent red, and the doctor had to ask him if he had a fever which only made them further redden.
After the check up, he had followed her out into the hallway and asked her to wait for him. He had struck up a conversation and a persona had slipped into place. Now he seemed much more confident than before, and he boldly asked her to get a coffee with him.
She turned him down.
The look on his face was priceless when she expressed her regret that it was unprofessional. After all, she was a nurse and he was a patient. She could get in trouble and lose the job she had just started.
Her rejection was a clever ploy. Just as Yelena had said, some men liked the challenge. He was one of them.
After her rejection, he further fell in to her trap. He continued to seek her out and ask her again and again. He always found some excuse to go to the hospital. He would walk in for the smallest of accidents, a cut he sustained during training or an ankle he swore was swollen despite being able to walk just fine. The doctors and other nurses seemed exasperated when they reminded him that he was a Titan and could heal on his own, but she always made sure to show up for every one of his visits rewarding his efforts.
Finally, when she was confident she had made him wait enough, she accepted his offer.
“One coffee, just one, and you don’t tell my boss, yeah?” She tried to hide her embarrassed smile behind her medical charts.
Triumphant he grinned. “Sure, just one.”
- - -
It wasn’t just one. They both knew it although each of them had their own reasons for thinking there would be more than one date.
One coffee turned into two which then gave way to three until they made it a regular habit to meet at the coffee shop after her shift. She was a pleasant person on their dates and they clicked well. Pretty soon, he was falling fast and she could tell.
It was like magic the way they clicked. They had the same tastes, the same hobbies, the same feeling about the war and Marley. They fit together like a puzzle and clicked so well that she could tell he was falling hard with every date.
Of course, none of it was luck. She knew him like the back of her hand. Zeke had made sure that she knew everything there was to know about him before she had left Paradis. She had studied him as if he were material for a major exam and had memorized everything.
She was his dream girl thanks to repeated efforts to mold herself to his tastes.
Finally, after maybe a month of dates, he bit the bullet. Blushing and showing up to one date with a bouquet of flowers she was certain Pieck had chosen for him, he asked her to be his girlfriend.
Making her eyes water on command, she had thrown her arms around his neck in reply and that was that.
- - -
Once she had managed to reel him in, she scored big.
Having a Warrior at her side was just the thing she needed to collect intel on Marley. Porco trusted her implicitly and thought nothing about telling her about his job. He made offhanded comments about some of the things he did for the military and thought nothing of the questions she asked. In his mind, she was just his loving girlfriend eager to learn more about his day.
She catalogued everything he said and kept a journal of information tucked underneath her bed. When he would leave after a long day together, she’d scribble down new secrets gained and walk towards the rendezvous location.
There, she would bump into a mysterious man on accident and slip the piece of paper from the notebook into his jacket as she apologized. The man, Jean, would pretend not to recognize her as he accepted the intel and would move aside.
Then, she would go about her day as if nothing had happened and be back at her home when Porco had returned from a long day of military training.
Exhausted, he would spill more secrets into her ear and ignore the way she always seemed a little too eager for him to share. Confident in his trust of her, his guard was down and he never put two and two together.
It was a shame really, his trust would only prove his undoing.
- - -
She hit the major jackpot when he forgot his lunch for the day. He had spent the night over and had woken up late. Forgetting to grab something to take with him, he had dashed out the door and left for his military training before she could remind him.
She had waited for him to return for something yet was relieved when she realized he hadn’t remembered. That gave her the perfect opening.
Preparing his favorite dish, the one Yelena had made Niccolo teach her over and over again back in Paradis to make sure she got the flavor just right, she had made her way to the military headquarters.
As a nurse, none of the stationed soldiers gave her a second glance as she walked inside the compound. When she asked to enter the wing where the Warriors trained, the men seemed more hesitant however. Still, a soft smile and some batted eyelashes worked their charm.
It is the weakness of men to consider women weak. They underestimated her ability and let her in easily. Her charm had managed to lower their guards.
They pointed her towards the area where the Warriors trained and let her freely walk there.
Zeke met her at the door. Sweat covered his brow as he panted from the workout he had just finished. He walked right past her as if he didn’t knew her and she pretended not to know him too.
To an outsider, it would have looked just like two complete strangers walking past each other to different destinations. A coincidental meet with nothing out of the ordinary.
However, the outsider would have missed the way Zeke’s hand had pointed to the left behind his back. Without glancing back, he had indicated where she could find Porco to help her in her quest.
She followed his directions down a corridor to the left and was rewarded with Porco.
His back to her, he was talking to some kids with yellow armbands. Warrior candidates.
She recognized them from the files she had memorized in Paradis.
Colt and Falco Grice.
At the sight of her, the eldest, Colt, frowned. “Nurse?”
He tilted his head wondering who had gotten injured and Porco turned. Surprise registered in his gaze for half a second before he extended a hand towards her. Affection replaced the shock and he nodded at her.
“What are you doing here?” He took the offered lunch from her hands, and she saw that he looked like he had been sweating. His face was flushed and he was wearing what looked like a combat uniform. It seemed like they had just wrapped up practice because the two candidates behind him were just as tired.
“You forgot your lunch, so I figured I’d bring you one,” she looked past Porco to the two boys still staring dumbfounded, “There’s plenty for you too, guys. I know how hard you all are working.”
The eldest one stumbled out a thank you as his cheeks flush. His younger brother thanked her with a charming smile.
Porco opened the bag and saw his favorite. His eyes lit up, but he cleared the emotion from his expression when he realized he was still in public. He handed the two boys their share of what was in a clear container then motioned for her to follow him alone down another corridor.
The room he led her to seemed like a break room. There were water bottles set up for the candidates and some tables. He plopped down and motioned for her to join him.
“How’d you know this was my favorite?” He popped a piece of the food in his mouth.
She smiled.
“Lucky guess.”
She was grateful Yelena had made her repeat the recipe until she could do it with her eyes closed. It seemed she had nailed the taste and Porco’s guard had fallen. He’d been letting her in more and more. If she had to guess, he’d become putty in her hands.
“You look tired,” she brushed some of his hair that had gotten stuck to his forehead, “No rest for the wicked? I thought they’d let you all take a break after the war.”
He hummed irritated.
“Nope. The candidates are back to competing. Colt, the oldest kid back there, has his spot set for the Beast Titan, but the other Titans are up in the air. I think Gabi Braun might become the Armored if she keeps it up.”
Gabi Braun.
She let the name flit around her head until she attached information to it. Zeke had mentioned that Reiner might be passing on his titan to his cousin.
Her lips pressed together. She was never close with Reiner back when he and the others were in Paradis. She was friends with Jean and Sasha, but the rest of their friends never truly became hers. That’s why Zeke had selected her for the mission. She was someone the others trusted, but not someone that would be recognized by Reiner the moment he laid eyes on her.
Still, none of this is the information she needed. She tried to think of another way to ask Porco for more intel. There had to be something he knew that Zeke didn’t. Something that can give some insight into what Marley had planned-
The door opened behind them. For a moment, she stilled panicked that it’s Reiner. Her hair color has been changed and cut and her eyes are a different color through the help of contact lenses, but she wasn’t sure the disguise would hold up. He might just recognize her at a glance-
“Pieck?” Porco raised an eyebrow at the new person.
A young woman supporting herself on a crutch hobbled inside the room. She offered Porco a smile of greeting then her eyes settled on her.
Pieck Finger, she realized. She knew a lot about her too. Zeke’s words replayed in her mind.
“Pieck Finger. She’s the current holder of the Cart Titan. Be careful with her. She seems friendly and polite when you meet her, but she’s clever and quick on her feet. She’ll smile at you in greeting all while suspecting you. Don’t be too over excited to be her friend. Just let her naturally come to trust you.”
Pieck’s eyes lit up and the smile that graced her face is rehearsed. Even as the girl grinned and joined them, she could sense that she was being picked apart. Clever as she was, Pieck had already started suspecting her.
“Is this the girl you’ve been going on about?” Pieck called her name and extended her hand.
She introduced herself and gave Pieck a polite smile. She hoped she seemed shy and awestruck. After all, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for a regular Eldian to be nervous when meeting a Warrior.
Porco ate the last of the food and introduced the two of them. He explained a little bit about how they met and Pieck paid rapt attention. A little too much attention.
She tried not to appear nervous as she felt her gaze. Hopefully she would be able to throw Pieck off her trail. Zeke had offered to help out if she gave the word.
“It’s nice to meet you,” she offered Pieck a warm smile.
Pieck returned it and leaned against her crutch. She seemed exhausted, more so than the others, and she recalled what Zeke and Yelena had informed her. Pieck’s titan moved on four feet. Because she was so used to spending months on end in titan form, returning to walking on two feet was always taxing.
Remembering that her cover was a nurse, she stood. “Are you in pain? I can get some ice.”
Pieck waved her away and eased herself into a chair. Her leg stretched out and she rubbed at her knee. “Getting used to walking on two legs, that’s all. If I had it my way, I’d just crawl everywhere.”
“She would,” Porco scoffed, “She scared the shit out of me the other day. I caught her crawling across the floor. For a second I thought she was an overgrown bug.”
“Ha, ha.”
Pieck turned away from Porco with a roll of her eyes and trained her gaze on her. The little spark of suspicion was there again. Zeke wasn’t kidding when he had said she was clever.
“I didn’t know you were a nurse. You look a little young to have completed the training already.”
The question was innocent and her voice casual. Still, she noted the inquiring tone there.
Porco isn’t someone who let others in easily. If he had suddenly brought in a girl into his life and let her in to the military headquarters, it’d be bound to raise some eyebrows. Pieck seemed suspicious although she wasn’t sure if it was because the girl was naturally slow to trust or if maybe her cover had already been found out.
“My mother was a nurse,” she answered finally, “She taught me some things. I managed to pass my certification with her help a year ago.”
“Was?” Pieck tilted her head and her gaze was now sympathetic.
She’d read Pieck’s file. Pieck had a sick father who she was supporting through the Warrior program. She was partial to those who knew what that was like to lose a parent.
She lowered her gaze to the table and feigned some sadness. “Was. She passed last year. An illness. The doctors refused to treat an Eldian.”
Quiet.
Porco bit his lip and anger burned in his gaze. Pieck had been reminded of her own father and the suspicion that had previously lurked disappeared replaced by empathy.
“I’m so sorry. I know what that feels like,” she closed her eyes, “My dad is ill too. I became a Warrior to help him.”
She nodded her head and pretended to brush away a tear. There came more quiet where no one knew what to say.
Suddenly, from outside, they heard two voices. The first she recognized as Zeke. The next made her tense.
That voice. It had been years, but she could recognize it anywhere. Reiner.
Nervousness clawed at the pit of her stomach. Her disguise was good, but it woud not have held up on closer examination. Reiner may not have been all that close with her all those years ago, but he would have been able to recognize her.
Porco glanced at the clock and groaned. “Looks like we have to get back to training. Do you want me to walk you back to the hospital?”
She shook her head just as Pieck stood up. “No, it’s fine.”
The voices grew closer. She could imagine Zeke trying to lead Reiner away, surely Colt and Falco had told them that the three of them were in there. However, she wasn’t sure she’d be out in time.
An idea sparked in her and she turned to Pieck.
“Sorry, Pieck, is there a bathroom nearby?”
Pieck glanced at her. “Sure, I’ll take you.”
She waved goodbye to Porco and followed Pieck as she limped down the hallway. They passed by a smaller set of rooms where she could see the back of Reiner’s head.
A sigh of relief left her when she realized she hadn’t been spotted by them. Pieck nodded to a door at the end of the corridor and offered her a friendly smile.
“There you go.”
She waved her hand and went back to where the other Warriors were. That time, her movements had been genuine. Whatever suspicion she had, had earlier had been erased. It seemed the little lie about her mother had earned her enough sympathy points to overcome whatever alarm bells had been ringing in her mind.
For some reason, a prickle of guilt had filled her as she bypassed the bathroom and left out a side door.
- - -
Some few days later, Porco had been in bed next to her. His hand had run through his hair and he’d tried to fight off sleep. He had been exhausted, they both were, and he slumped against her frame.
“Staying here again?” She lifted the blanket higher on his torso.
He glanced out the window and saw the dark outside. “Too dark to walk. That’s okay, right?”
She gave him a kiss in response and he smirked into it. He almost looked like he could go for another round, but ultimately his exhaustion won out. Reaching over, he flicked the lamp off and darkness filled the room.
“Goodnight,” she told him. She heard him whisper it back although his voice was muffled through the blanket.
The good thing about exhausting Porco was that he went out like a light afterwords. He fell asleep easily once he’d been tired out and became dead to the world.
She only had to wait a few minutes until his soft snores had filled the room.
She counted to 100 in her mind then stood up. While the information he had relayed to her had still been fresh in her mind, she scribbled it down on her journal. Then, she glanced back to verify that he was still asleep before slipping out into the night.
- - -
Jean waited for her at the usual place. His form overlooked the pier, and he accepted the journal page from her. He he slipped it into his pocket as she leaned over the rail.
“You’re doing okay, right? No one has suspected a thing?” He examined her out of the corner of his eye.
She ran a hand through her disheveled hair and hoped the love bites Porco left on her neck weren’t too obvious. A part of her always filled with guilt whenever she saw them in the morning although she was never sure why.
If he could tell what she had been up to, he did her the favor of not mentioning it.
“He’s not giving me anything really. He knows what Zeke knows and that’s it. Marley isn’t dividing up intel between the Warriors. They’re all briefed on the same thing,” she sighed.
Jean huffed and shoved his hands in his pocket. “You’re telling me. I’m not getting anywhere either. I can’t find the little suicidal maniac anywhere, and I’m sick of following random soldiers around. Maybe there isn’t much intel to be gained here.”
They grew quiet, and she bit her lip. Frustration gnawed at her coupled with something else. It pricked her and filled her with a sense of exhaustion.
It had been weeks and she’d gotten nowhere. Porco had completely fallen for her, he spent every waking moment with her, and Pieck teased him about how much he mentioned her in conversation. However, she hadn’t getting anything out of it. He hadn’t known anything more than what Paradis already knew, and she hadn’t been close enough to Pieck to question her.
It almost felt like all the scheming and lying was for nothing. The thought made her stomach turn.
There’s been a change in her, she knew. She’d been more hesitant to lie. When Porco asked about her mother, wanting to know about how a sick nurse could have been rejected by a doctor, she had felt the lie weigh on her. A mad thought had filled her, and she had almost broken down crying. For some reason, using him just didn’t feel like some exciting secret anymore.
Luckily, he thought her tears were a result of grief for her fictional mother and dropped the matter. Still, that had been close. For a second she had worried she would break character.
“I’m tired, Jean,” she closed her eyes, “Should I just go back to Paradis? It doesn’t feel like it’s worth it.”
Jean examined her and his jaw clenched. “What’s not worth it?”
Being away from home, having to watch every word she said in case she accidentally blew her cover, lying to Porco.
“I just want to go home. Don’t you get homesick?”
Jean sighed and closed his eyes. “I get what you mean. Hang in there, though. You’re doing great so far. You may not have a lot of top secrets to report, but Hange says your information has been really beneficial. They know how many fleets are in the military and where they’re kept. Galliard may not have Zeke’s top secret clearance, but he knows enough. Hopefully he’ll unlock Marcel’s memories soon and give us more.”
She bit her cheek. Porco had only unlocked Ymir’s memories so far, and those hadn’t been useful. He learned some things about Paradis and it’s military, but it wasn’t anything that put them at a disadvantage.
Thankfully, she had never been close to Ymir, so Porco never recognized her from the memories. Her identity remained a secret.
She glanced at the skyline. The stars had been bright and she realized she’d been out too long.
“Gotta go,” she shoved her hands in her pockets, “Before Pock wakes up.”
Jean froze and turns to look at her. “Pock?”
She stopped too. The nickname had just fallen out of her mouth. She could only imagine it was Pieck rubbing off on her.
“Must’ve slipped,” she rubbed her lip.
“Don’t,” Jean’s gaze was a warning in itself, “Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
She knew the answer. It was written plainly on his face. His arms crossed and his jaw tightened. She felt like she was being scolded.
“Don’t get too close. You’re a spy not a lover. Don’t forget your place. Once this whole place gets attacked, he’ll try to kill you. If you get too close, you just might hesitate on defending yourself.”
- - -
She realized too late that she should have listened to Jean. After that night, her cover became harder and harder to keep. It seemed like every time she had to lie, the words got caught in her throat. Maintaining her cover became more difficult.
A few days after that conversation, she made her first mistake.
Or, as Zeke would call it, strike one.
It had been nighttime and sleep wouldn’t grace her. She’d stared up at the ceiling running over every interaction between her and the others. Her teeth had clamped on her bottom lip as she realized that she’d let them get too close.
By then, she’d befriended some of the Warrior Candidates. The kids were adorable when they teased Porco about his girlfriend, and she had found herself wanting to make them some sweets as she had watched them train. The idea hadn’t come out of a desire to get intel. It had just sprung up suddenly without cause or motivation.
The thought that maybe she was in too deep filled her with fear. Jean was right to scold her. She felt herself getting too close to the abyss.
Now she wasn’t quite sure if Porco had fallen into her web, or if she’d been caught in his.
Still, she had no time to dwell on it. Suddenly, Porco had jerked up next to her. A harsh gasp left his throat and he clutched at it. Panic rolled off him in waves and he swung himself out of bed.
A nightmare. He’d get those a lot. He often woke up screaming and bathed in sweat.
He bent over the bed as he caught his breath. She flicked the lamp on and called his name.
Wearily, he recovered. His breathing was harsh and some sweat ran down his forehead, but he ambled back into bed. He’d left a water glass for himself on the nightstand and downed it in one gulp.
“A nightmare?”
She ran her hand down his back without thinking about it. The movement had been performed as an instinct. It wasn’t a part of some grand scheme to manipulate him or keep her cover.
The thought worried her, but she shoved it aside.
Porco ran a hand through his face. She knew he hated being seen like this, but he’d learned to trust her. He eased into her touch and groaned.
“My brother. I saw that girl’s memories again. She ate him. I can’t get it out of my head,” he clutched at his temples.
Ymir. He was referring to Ymir’s memories. Ymir had been the Titan to consume Marcel all those years ago. It must have been torture for him to have to relive it over and over again.
“Want to talk about it?”
She knew the answer was no. He would much rather pretend it never happened and curl back into bed. Still, she asked him automatically.
As she predicted, he shook his head.
“Nah, sorry to wake you,” he raised the blanket back over himself and closed his eyes.
“Try to think of the good memories with Marcel instead, yeah?”
She didn’t realize she’d said anything wrong until she felt Porco tense next to her. She blinked for a moment before the color drained from her face.
Marcel
Porco had never once told her his name before. He always referred to him as his brother, but had never given a name.
She supposed maybe she could get him to believe that the names of the Warriors were well known to everyone, but she had already lied before that she didn’t know the other Warriors. She had feigned not knowing who Reiner and Zeke were before in a conversation earlier, so she doubted he would believe she now knew the names of the Warriors from town gossip.
“How did you know he was named Marcel?”
Porco’s eyes scanned her. For a second, there’d been a spark of something suspicious. It looked like he’d been tensing up, and she imagined his natural inclination to be weary of people was rising.
She feigned being nonchalant as she lifted the blanket to her chin. Faking sleepiness, she yawned.
“You call his name in your sleep a lot. Whenever you have nightmares, you scream it.”
She was glad her voice sounded normal because her heart was pounding in her chest. If he didn’t buy that, her cover might be blown.
She could feel him staring at her. The gears were working in his head, and she could imagine the internal battle. He didn’t sleep talk, years of sleeping in the barracks would have given it away if he did, but he wanted to believe her.
Guilt gnawed at her as she realized that he really did want to believe her. He trusted her, cared for her, and told himself that she was credible.
The suspicion faded from his eyes as the love in him won out against the warning signs. He eased back into bed and curled an arm around her waist. Nuzzling into her, he closed his eyes.
“Sorry, I didn’t know I talk in my sleep. I hope I don’t wake you.”
She didn’t relax until after his breathing against her neck had evened out. Once he’d slipped into the realm of sleep, she squeezed her eyes shut.
She’d messed up, and the thought filled her with dread. She would have never made a mistake like that before, so why now? Why was it suddenly growing harder to keep the charade going?
She slumped against his form and squeezed her hands into a fist. She needed to be more careful from now on.

Strike two happened some days later. She and Porco had gone to the pier to watch the kids train. Pieck had been waiting for them when they arrived.
Gabi was competing with Falco for the lead while Udo and Zofia hung back. Pieck laughed quietly to herself as Porco leaned against the rail.
“Think she’ll win?” Pieck asked.
“Doesn’t she always?” Porco responded.
He yawned into his hand. Lately, his nightmares had been troubling him more and more. Between Ymir’s memories and the stress of having lived through the Mid-East War, there was always some vision that tormented him.
“I’m way too tired. I should go get some coffee,” he groaned.
“Get me one too?” Pieck blinked up at him.
“I didn’t offer to buy you one-”
“Buy us some, Pock? Please?” She helped Pieck beg.
Stuck between the two of them, Porco groaned. He fished around for his wallet, made sure he had enough, and scoffed.
“Fine. I’ll buy YOU one, but Pieck has to pay me back later for hers.”
Pieck laughed quietly and called him mean. He offered her a rude gesture as he walked away in search for a coffee place.
Once he was gone, Pieck was quiet once more. The kids had finished and Gabi had pulled through again. Falco dropped down and panted as Zofia and Udo joined him.
“She’s good. I think she’ll inherit her cousin’s titan eventually. The Brauns are really proud,” she leaned against the rail.
“I can’t imagine it’s easy though. Knowing that your daughter or niece is going to take over her cousin. It must be hard,” she rested her chin on her hand.
Pieck sighed quietly. “It is, but being an Honorary Marleyan is worth it. I’m surprised you never joined the Warrior Program. I’ve seen you run and carry heavy boxes. You’re strong and could have made it far.”
She ground her teeth and hoped that Pieck hadn’t caught on to the fact that she had military training. She wasn’t a war nurse, so she wouldn’t be able to excuse why she was strong. Maybe she’d have to let Porco carry a few heavy things in the future. She should let herself appear weaker.
“My parents didn’t want me to.”
Pieck raised an eyebrow. “Your parents missed out on a chance to get citizenship? Why’s that?”
Without thinking, she sighed. “My mother would have hated the idea of me joining the military. She only ever wanted me to be safe. She was squeamish about blood and would have hated imagining me covered in it had she been alive to see it.”
She thought back to her real mother. The woman that died in Shinganshina would have hated that her daughter became a soldier for the Corps. All she ever wanted was for her to daughter to live a peaceful life as a seamstress just like she had been. If she could see her daughter now, she’d be appalled.
Pieck was quiet for a second and a frown crossed her features. She realized too late her mistake and stilled her movements.
“Blood made her squeamish? I thought she was a nurse?” She turned to her and the suspicion that had previously been erased sparked back to life. “And you talked about her in the past tense when you would have been offered to be a Warrior as a kid. I thought she died last year?”
“I-”
Her brain stopped working and she tried to come up with some excuse. She needed lie that would make the suspicion die down. Her thoughts were in disarray and she panicked.
In the end, she never got a chance. Porco returned with three coffees and grumbled about how he was sure the barista over charged him. He passed them out to the two of them and eyed them.
Pieck was still looking at her with weariness, and she’d tried not to let her fear show.
“Did something happen?” Porco gazed at her with concern.
It was Pieck who recovered first. She raised her coffee to her lips and looked away towards where the kids had started running again. She dropped the matter although she was sure she hadn’t forgotten her little slip up.
“Nothing, but I should head back. Don’t forget we have a meeting.”
She waved goodbye and left.
She watched her go and felt dread pool at her stomach. Zeke had warned her to be careful near Pieck. She was clever and would pick up on stuff if she wasn’t careful.
Strike two.
- - -
Strike three came two weeks later. Porto dropped something and searched underneath her bed for it. His hands groped blindly for the item when he suddenly stopped.
Her heart froze in her chest when he pulls out her journal.
He raised an eyebrow and got cocky grin. “What is this? Your diary or something?”
Before she could stop him, he cracked it open.
She dove for it, but he snatched it up and raised it over his head. He was taller than her and he laughed as she jumped. She tried to get to it, but he would only bring it up higher the more she struggled.
“Are you that embarrassed to let me read it? What, is it full of your fantasies?” He laughed.
Panic filled her and she turned on him.
“Give it back!”
Her voice came out harsher than she intended. The fear in her stomach had turned to lead, and her tone sounded cold.
Porco stopped and realized that she was serious. He lowered his hand and handed her the journal back. “Woah, I was kidding. I wouldn’t really invade your privacy like that. You okay?”
She huffed and shoved the journal back under the bed. Her ears burned and she felt like crying from the residual panic.
She had been so close to getting her cover blown. She hadn’t had time to rendezvous with Jean yet, so the previous few notes she’d collected were still tucked inside. If he had read them-
She shivered and turned to him.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell,” she let a tear slip down and was grateful when she saw him soften at the sight, “It’s just that I’ve had my journals read before and it’s a violation of privacy.”
She sniffed again and he wiped the tear away. He wasn’t one to openly show affection, but she knew that her tears were a good way to get him to soften. It felt awful to manipulate him in that way, but everything about the mission had felt awful for a while.
“I wouldn’t have actually read it,” he looked away, “I was just messing around.”
She nodded and decided to let the matter drop. Turning away, she offered to make them both dinner.
He accepted the change in conversation and went back to his search for his missing item.
As she left the room, she missed when he calls her name. One of the loose sheets of paper had fallen out of the journal in the kerfuffle. He picked it up to hand it back to her, but she was already gone.
Sighing, he intended to shove it under the bed with the journal when he spotted his name on it. Confused, he unrolled it and glanced at its contents. Inside was a collection of notes regarding troop placements.
Confusion and something cold filled him and he shoved it into his pocket intending to look at it more closely later.
From the kitchen, she missed the way his eyes seemed to darken.
Strike three. You’re out.
- - -
She met with Jean that day and decided to give him the entire journal. The fear of almost being found out had left a bad taste in her mouth. To make matters worse, Porco had been acting off all afternoon. Rather than spending the night like he usually did, he had left mumbling something about a late night meeting with the other Warriors. She hadn’t been sure if he had forgiven her for yelling yet.
Jean took the journal with a raised eyebrow.
“All of it? You don’t want to keep writing notes?” He slipped it into the inside of his coat.
She rubbed at her arms and shook her head. “He almost read it, Jean. I managed to take it in time, but what if he had read it? Our cover would have been blown. I’ve never been that scared before.”
Jean hissed under his breath. He pinched the bridge of his nose and his voice grew cold.
“Be more fucking careful next time! If he had read it, all of this would have been over. You have any idea what they’ll do to you if they find out? What he’ll do to you?”
“He wouldn’t hurt me,” she spilled it out without thinking.
Jean openly gaped at her and she paled.
“I mean-”
“Fuck, listen to yourself. Are you sure you’re not the one wrapped around his finger?” Jean kicked at the pier in frustration, “This is getting too bad. You almost got caught and now you’re in over your head. The last thing we need is you turning coats because you caught feelings.”
“I didn’t!” She hissed it at him and hit him in the arm hard.
She wasn’t sure why she lashed out, but the pent up anger and fear from before suddenly rushed out. She hit him again and hissed into his ear. “Stop doubting me. I’m a soldier same as you. Don’t underestimate me.”
He shoved her arms to the side and pinned them down. His arms held her steady and she was suddenly pinned into his embrace. His gaze burned with rage and a warning.
“Yeah, well act like a soldier. Stop letting him get too close and stop forgetting what you’re here for. Get the intel and that’s it. No more dates or fantasizing. Don’t forget why we’re here and be more fucking careful next time.”
He let her go and she rubbed at her arms in anxiety. “I’m sorry for hitting you.”
“Whatever,” he shrugged off her apology, “Just don’t lose your head. Your life is on the line. Paradis is on the line. Don’t forget that. Don’t let your feelings cloud your judgement.”
She stared after him as he left. Her eyes burned and she felt some tears run down her face. He was right and she knew it.
She was on a mission. This wasn’t a game. Her life was on the line, and her home would pay the price if she failed. This wasn’t some romance novel. If her cover was blown, she was sure Porco wouldn’t hesitate to turn her in.
Her hands covered her eyes and she leaned against the railing of the pier. The wind blew her hair back. She stayed there thinking about everything and how it was all going wrong-
And she never noticed the girl staring from yards away with pursed lips.
- - -
A hand suddenly yanked her into a room, and she almost screamed. The only thing that kept her from shrieking was the hand that clamped her mouth shut.
Someone made a ‘shushing’ sound. Their finger pressed to their lips and she blinked.
Zeke.
She shoved him off shocked. “The hell are you doing? What if someone saw?”
They were in the military headquarters. She came to meet Porco for lunch when suddenly she was abducted.
Zeke had yanked her into some sort office. He shook his head and locked the door. His face was tense.
“We had a meeting earlier in my office. I left afterwords to deliver some paperwork and heard talking when I got back. It was Pieck and Porco. Something happened.”
Dread filled her.
“What?” She breathed out the word and knew what he was going to say before he said it.
“Pieck saw you last night with a man. She told Porco he had you in an embrace. She’s concerned you haven’t been honest with them,” he plopped down on a chair, “Something about your mother too?”
Grinding her teeth, she felt a sense of dread.
Jean. Pieck had seen her with Jean. She felt lightheaded as she realized that. Did she overhear their conversation too or just spot them from a distance? Either way, this was really bad.
“And what did Porco say?”
“He told her she was wrong. Sounded like he was trying to convince himself though. I couldn’t hear more than that because Colt called my name and gave my presence away. Once they heard I was back, they stopped talking. I don’t know what else they know, but I think you’re cover is breaking.”
He seemed irritated as he pushed his glasses up.
“I thought you were more careful? We trained you for months. What happened?”
She ran a hand through her hair. She knew exactly what had been happening and it frightened her. Jean had been right this entire time. This mission had been messing with her head in ways she never imagined. She needed to get out of Marley as soon as possible.
Ignoring Zeke, she opened the door to the office. Taking a step forward, she spotted Porco stalking angrily through the halls. His face was flushed in irritation and he clenched his fists in his pockets.
“Pock?” She called out to him and closed the door behind her. Hopefully, Zeke would get the message and know to stay inside. They shouldn’t be seen together considering they hadn’t formally met before.
Porco stopped at her voice and spun around. Something passed through his eyes, something cold, and she tensed. A fight or flight instinct rose in her. If he’d caught on to things already, this was really bad.
But the moment passed quickly, and his arm draped around her shoulder.
“Hey, what are you doing here?”
“Came to invite you to lunch,” she replied.
She tried to steer him away from the room. He glanced behind the door in thought.
A ball of fear sank in her stomach. She’d had no idea that he was outside the hall when she stepped out. Hopefully he hadn’t seen what room she emerged from.
She found herself talking in order to fill the silence. “There’s a restaurant you like around the corner right? We should eat there?”
He blinked slowly. “Yeah, how’d you know? Have I ever taken you there?”
“Pieck told me,” she lied. She didn’t wait for him, she took his hand and tugged him behind her. Her thoughts were buzzing in her head, and she clamped her teeth down on her tongue.
Zeke had been right. She was trained for this mission, so why did she keep making stupid mistakes? At what point did she stop being the confident spy?
As they left, she heard the door open behind them. Zeke emerged fixing the collar of his shirt.
Behind her, she saw Porco turn around. When his eyes landed on Zeke’s retreating figure, he tensed. She and Zeke hadn’t been introduced yet. There was no reason for the two of them to have been in the same room together.
She waited for him to ask, to question, but he never did. Instead, he turned back around and moved in front of her. He let her lead him away to that favorite restaurant of his that she had no way of knowing about. His gaze the entire time was full of distrust, but he never voiced it out.
Still, she felt the widening distance between them and held back her wince. Jean and Zeke were right. Her cover was cracking.
- - -
She waited for Porco to initiate a conversation. The entire day she’d felt the gap between them widening. He felt tense and kept glancing at her almost as if he wanted to gear himself up to ask her something.
But the confrontation never came. Instead, he let her ramble about her day and responded with small snippets of conversation. In the end, they returned to her home and he let her lead him to her room.
When they made love, something felt off. His thoughts were a million miles away from her, and he seemed distracted. His movements felt robotic, and she couldn’t help but notice the walls he’d slowly brought up.
The conversation with Pieck had done a number on him. She knew he was desperate to ask about the mysterious man she had embraced. He also probably wondered about a million other things that didn’t fit, mistakes she’d made that would give anyone pause, but he couldn’t bring himself to speak them out loud. Perhaps he thought that, if he said something, it would make everything more real.
She almost wished he would say something. Even if it meant that her cover was exposed and she had to flee, she figured anything was better than this uncomfortable chasm that had widened between them.
Still, he never said anything. He slept with her the way he had in the past and only ever said her name in the heights of pleasure. Even though he couldn’t bring himself to look at her in the eyes, he kept his mouth shut.
The only time that night that he spoke was when he reached his limit. Groaning as he finished, he presses a harsh kiss to her lips. Then he sounded out something that made her blood freeze.
“I love you.”
Three little words and her world fell apart. He’d never said it before. She never imagined he’d be the type to say it.
As he started to drift off exhausted, she ran a hand through her hair. Her heart was racing, and there was an awful pain somewhere in her chest. She felt like crying but fought it off.
After he’d fallen asleep, she put her head in her hands.
“I love you too, Pock.”
With growing horror, she realized she was telling the truth.
- - -
He didn’t bring it back up again. She wondered if he even remembered saying it. Maybe it had slipped out in a moment of pleasure, and he didn’t really mean it.
She wasn’t sure which alternative she preferred. The one where Porco loved her or the one where he had just said it on instinct in the middle of sex. Both made her feel sick.
The festival came faster than it should. The kids laughed and had fun as they raced from stall to stall.
The Warriors had separated into groups. She and Porco had joined Pieck to walk along the displays while Reiner had gone with the kids. She was glad that Porco in his possessiveness had not wanted them to meet. She wasn’t sure whether Reiner would recognize her or not, and she couldn’t risk it with Pieck around.
Pieck had grown distant. Gone was the friendly girl who smiled and laughed. After seeing her with Jean that night she had been openly suspicious.
The thought made her nervous. Best case scenario, Pieck just thought she was unfaithful. Worse case scenario, however, she knew she was lying about who she was. Still, both options were awful.
“Wanna try those foods over there?” Porco nodded at the booth selling something that smelt spicy and exotic. The name of it was in some language she didn’t know.
“Sure, we can eat them by the music area,” Pieck hummed.
Porco offered to go buy them some of it and left. Left alone with Pieck, she shifted uncomfortably.
Pieck eyed another stand nearby selling some dessert. It was covered in chocolate and strawberries. It looked good and was within their price range.
“We should get some of that too. It isn’t every day Liberio has a festival,” Pieck motioned for her to join.
“Anything catch your eye?” She asked Pieck. The booth had individually wrapped each sweet and had a flavor tag in front displaying the various kinds. There were berries and nuts and a bunch of other little toppings that they could choose from.
“What do you think Pock would like? Does he have any allergies?” Pieck glanced at her.
She thought back to the file that she read in Paradis.
“Nuts, I think.”
Pieck hummed and grabbed the one with nuts anyway. When she gave her a questioning glance, she realized Pieck’s eyes had turned cold. She’d failed some type of test, and she realized it too late.
“Really? Because I saw him eat some walnuts the other day. Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure he outgrew that allergy years ago. I don’t know why he would mention it to you now.”
She froze.
The file Zeke gave her must not have been up to date. Some kids outgrew allergies as they grew older. The stupid Marleyan record keepers must not have known to update Porco‘s file once he was an adult.
“Really? I thought he mentioned it earlier,” she tried to sound nonchalant.
It did nothing to help her. This time, Pieck had completely turned cold. Her eyes were harsh and she took a step forward.
“How did your mother really die? Your file at the hospital doesn’t make sense. The name listed under her doesn’t exist-”
“You looked through my file?” Her voice sounded faraway.
Pieck glanced to the side. Porco was returning with the food. Her cold gaze disappeared replaced by something that looked friendly yet false.
“We should join Pock before he eats our share too,” she replied. She slipped a hand around her shoulder and led her away.
She didn’t miss the quiet little whisper Pieck offered her way as they walked. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears.
“Don’t be mad at me for looking through your file. After all, you looked through mine.”
- - -
She found Jean at the rendezvous location that night. She grabbed onto his arm in panic. He startled and his eyes widened.
“What happened? You look like you’ve seen a ghost!”
“My cover’s blown. The Cart Titan is smarter than we thought. She’s guessed I’m lying. I need to leave Marley before she tells the military.”
Jean swore.
“Ok, ok, I can send a letter to the Scouts. We can send you back in a few days from now. Just wait until Tybur’s speech. Eren sent a letter and told us he plans to attack Liberio then. Just wait for the zeppelin to pass by. I’ll get someone to send you some ODM gear and you can use it to shoot yourself up. Just play everything normal.”
She pressed her hands to her face.
“Pieck found out. I fucked up. She was already starting to trust me, but then I opened my mouth. I bet she’s already told the others.”
Jean glanced around them. The pier looked empty, but they shouldn’t hang around too often.
“Just relax, alright? As long as the Marleyan soldiers don’t pound down your door, you’ll be fine. Just a few more days. In the meantime, just avoid her.”
He shoved his hands in his pocket and turned to leave.
She watched him go and felt like vomiting. Her mission had fallen apart, and she was terrified of what was coming. Either she would be dragged out by soldiers in the morning, or she would have to wait for an attack that would kill many civilians.
Frightened, she realized Porco would fight in that attack too. As a Warrior, he would be there when his people were killed. Would he realize then that Pieck was right? Realize that she had been a spy this whole time? Would it hurt him the way it was hurting her?
Once upon a time, she wanted to break him and the other Eldians just like they had broken through Wall Maria. She wanted them to hurt as much as she had hurt when her family had been killed in Shinganshina.
But now, with the rage fading to a dull roar and a searing pain in her chest taking its place, she couldn’t help but feel like the only thing she had managed to break was her own heart.
- - -
He was awake when she returned to her home. The lamp light was turned on as she entered the room. He blinked sleepily at her and cleared his throat to rid his vocal chords of sleep.
“Where were you? I woke up from a nightmare and you were gone. You didn’t answer when I called your name,” he eyed her.
She kicked off her shoes under the bed.
“I was getting some water downstairs. Sorry, I didn’t hear you,” she replied.
He didn’t believe her. She knew it when she looked at him. Her hair was disheveled from the wind, her shoes had sand from the pier, and her skin smelt like saltwater. He didn’t believe her-
But he wanted to.
She saw how he closed his eyes and let himself believe her. Every instinct of his warned him that she was lying, surely Pieck had warned him a thousand times too, but his heart triumphed over his brain. He accepted the lie from her and let it cloud his judgement.
Easing himself back into bed, he let out a soft sigh that sounded defeated and pained. Her heart gave a lurch.
“Yeah, yeah, maybe I was wrong.”
As he fell back asleep, she knew he didn’t just mean about her whereabouts.
- - -
Tybur’s speech came before she realized it. Jean had warned her not to stay for it. A day earlier, Yelena had stopped by dressed as a Marleyan soldier and provided her a black uniform and ODM gear. Everything was in place for her escape and Liberio’s attack.
The Warriors had been invited to the speech. It was a grand affair with many dignitaries from foreign nations joining. Porco grumbled as he put on his uniform claiming that he felt like Willy Tybur’s little circus monkey. It was obvious he meant to parade the big and terrifying Eldian Warriors for all the world to see.
She wasn’t allowed to sit with him at the speech which was a relief. The Warriors had their own section separate with the military. As a civilian nurse, her row of seats was far away from his.
They arrived to the locale as more people had started to sit down. There was chatter and buzz as people arrived.
Porco stopped halfway to the Warrior section and ran a hand through his hair. She glimpsed past him and saw the other Warriors already there. Zeke lounged in his seat looking bored while Pieck played with Zofia and the other candidates.
“I’ll see you after the speech, right?”
His voice was quiet, unusual for him, and she wondered if maybe he had a feeling things weren’t what they seemed.
Pieck had pulled him aside yesterday too. Zeke had warned her that they were whispering to each other again. Her cover had been blown wide open. Pieck was sure she was a spy, but hadn’t made a move.
She’s waited for days for the Marley soldiers to come and drag her out kicking and screaming, but no one had shown up. Jean theorized that Pieck was being held at bay by Porco. Maybe he wanted to handle things first before they called in the cavalry.
Still, Porco never confronted her. He just blindly accepted her lies although it looked like his eyes grew more and more suspicious. The way he quietly observed her spoke volumes as to how his trust in her had dwindled.
That hurt more than she would like to admit, and she scolded herself for being such an awful spy.
“Yeah, I’ll see you,” she responded.
She turned to leave, but he stopped her with a hand on her arm.
“I mean it,” his face was serious, “We have to talk. I need to speak to you. It’s really important.”
She swallowed. Those four little words were never good for any relationship. She supposed a fake one wasn’t any different.
“Yeah, okay.”
Suddenly the black uniform she wore under her large overcoat felt like it was suffocating her. With any luck, she’d be gone before he had a chance to realize she was a spy. She didn’t think she could stomach the look of betrayal that would be on his face when he realized it.
“See you then,” he kept searching her eyes for something but let her go.
“Goodbye,” she responded, “I love you, Pock.”
She meant it as she said it, and her own heart broke into a million pieces. He paused as he walked away and she saw his entire body tense. A look of agony flickered in his eyes for half a second before it was cleared away.
He knew now this was the last time they’d ever see each other. She saw him realize it. All of a sudden, his eyes were opened to the truth. Every warning Pieck had given him had just now hit home.
“I love you too,” he closed his eyes and wished it wasn’t true when he said it, “Goodbye.”
- - -
Yelena’s plan failed. She was supposed to lock Pieck and Porco in a trapdoor to keep them from the battle. However, despite all of her warnings about Pieck being clever, she underestimated her.
Pieck caught on to her and suspected her from the beginning. She warned the Panzer squad right before being led into a trap. Her team was able to rescue them both, and they joined the fight.
Still, it was not her problem anymore. She discarded her overcoat somewhere else and her uniform was exposed. The wings of freedom proudly winked in the night light.
She was a scout, a citizen of Paradis, and she had bigger things to worry about. She buried her emotions down somewhere deep inside and readied her ODM gear.
The zeppelin arrived just as Jean had predicted. She took one final look as Liberio burned and steeled herself.
Her hooks shot up and landed on the blimp. She rose into the air.
As she made her ascent, she caught sight of two Titans at the far end of the area. One was a Titan on four legs with tanks on its back. The other was a Titan with streaming hair and a wide jaw.
They both rose their heads as the Scouts zipped along the sky firing thunder spears in their wake. They saw her lifting herself up on the blimp.
Sasha appeared at the entrance and offered her hand. She took it and let herself get pulled up. As she stood, she turned back down to see the two Titans below.
The Cart Titan was glaring openly, her suspicions confirmed. The Jaw Titan was frozen as his world fell apart around him.
She apologized to him in her head and gave him her back. The rest of the Scouts surged to her and asked her if she was okay. She wasn’t, and tears ran down her face much to their shock.
Behind her, she could hear the Jaw Titan’s agonized roar.

So I saw somewhere a post that talked about how some fictional characters just have a divorce vibe going on, like, at no point in time were they ever married but they just give off that feeling that they got divorced
And now I can only think of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor having that vibe
And I spent close to an hour talking about this to my sibling and how it would be a good idea for a new DC show like, you can make so much money off of just the main Batfam alone and there are literally so many people in there that it’s just an amazing idea to have them all in a show together but kind of like a Good Luck Charlie kinda thing because there’s more than enough angst in the world
But in the case of not having enough of a budget for so many characters in one show I turned to the Superfam (Batfam is Huge like, I don’t even know half of the extended family version and that’s like at least ten characters so I could see why it wouldn’t be entirely feasible to have a show that included everyone while still being good with nice character development without having a billion dollars for the budget)
The Superfam, in my personal experience, is composed of Ma & Pa Kent (farm vibes plus I refuse to have either of them die in my AU), Clark Kent (main Superman), Lois Lane (Lana? was Smallville Lois i guess??? But idk enough about her so she’s not here), Jon Kent (Superboi II), Kara Danvers (Supergirl) & Conner Kent (Superboi I)
Now I’ve stopped watching CW shows like, forever ago??? But my brother kinda keeps up with them and basically the gist is that the ratings of every other show suck Except for the Superman & Lois show (because it’s 💫new💫) and I saw the cover of the poster like “Ah, the werewolf dude. . . mmmhhmmm that’s Lois yes, yes that’s Johnny boi, and um is that???? Nooooo, they wouldn’t do that to Conner right???? Please tell me they didn’t make Conner blonde” and I was informed that the blonde teen is Chris???? Like
Whoms’t do ye speak of
I’m not even joking but the only way I even know of Chris is from a random fanfic I read where Dick Grayson gets his own super from an alternate reality named Chris, that’s my only point of reference for this character
But let’s talk about how Conner Kent (OG Superboi) was excluded
Now I haven’t seen any episodes of this and I probably never will (no hate I’m just really unmotivated to start new shows at all) so idk if they might mention Conner or even allude to him in one scene or something
But this was my main motivator as to my new Superfam TV Show Idea
Have Lex Luthor not be a Superman villain, he’s mainly a successful businessman, a little shady but who isn’t, and he doesn’t want to Kill Superman, he just wants to be able to have some sort of viable protection against a Kryptonian in case of an invasion (see Man of Steel + CW’s Supergirl) or suddenly having a mind controlled Superman on their hands (see Justice League series or just look up what Red Krytonite does) so he makes it like his side thing to figure out ways to neutralize or hold back a Kryptonian, Clark totally thinks that Lex is obsessed with finding a way to kill Superman because they had a bad end to their friendship in high school so he’s always suspicious of Lex, Lex hasn’t really ever tried to kill him though because 1. It’s not that deep Clark ok? And 2. He’s a busy busy man with a very important job position and a company to run so does he look like he has time to harbor an obsession over someone who rejected him back in high school??? You’re more of a constant side quest Clark, so stop trying to put him on the JL watchlist ( btw ik about Lena Luthor, haven’t forgotten her but she doesn’t really play a part in this AU so let’s just have her and Kara off to the side doing their own thing ok? Ok)
Lex, Bruce & Oliver all knew each other when they were kids and went to the same school, this is just an extra detail I wanted to happen because Lex and Ollie definitely know Bruce is Batman and absolutely HATE having to deal with Brucie Wayne because “I know you’re just doing this to irritate me Bruce, you just want to see if you can make a vein throb in my forehead but I will valiantly ignore your dumbassery because I know you hate being Brucie just as much as we hate having to put up with Brucie so suck on that you petty bitch” because they bonded in ye olden days, childhood friends so to speak
Anyway so Cadmus tries to get Lex to make an investment in their company, seeing as Cadmus is shadier than Gotham when it rains Lex is basically like ‘no ❤️’ and doesn’t make a deal with them, Cadmus gets mad at not having Lexcorp financially backing them so Lex has an ‘accident’ and they steal his DNA, then they steal Superman’s DNA somehow and *boom* a Superboi is formed
Because I don’t know much about how the Core Four became friends in the first place (Robin Tim Drake, Impulse Bart Allen, Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark & Superboy Conner Kent) I’m just gonna go with what happens in the show Young Justice except it’s the Core Four becoming the Core Four when they liberated Conner (who at this point believes himself to be a clone of Superman and has only been given Superboy as a name) from Cadmus, same shit goes down meaning that Clark is just straight up NOT vibing with Conner, Conner just wants a mentor please, and the Bats kinda give Clark a passive aggressive treatment for not taking Superboy under his wing or at least agreeing to teach him how to control his powers, especially Tim because that’s his Bestie so yes
Anyway, YJ saves ppl and is on the news or whatever and Lex finds out about Superboy’s existence that way, so he researches this new super on his free time, finds out that he came from Cadmus and claims to be a clone of Superman, yet doesn’t have the whole power set Superman has??? Wait, didn’t Lex reject Cadmus’ proposal and the got into a mysterious accident??? Long story short Lex goes connecting the dots, hacks into Cadmus’ files, finds out he technically has a son with Superman and decides to take Superboy under his wing (I’ll go more in depth as to why Lex would want to do this in this AU later but the abridged version would be that he wants a kid but doesn’t have the time nor interest in finding a wife??? Also the radiation that made him bald as a kid also affected his reproductive system so while it’s not impossible for him to conceive kids he would have a very hard time actually getting to father a kid)
Him and Conner, who still goes by Superboy at this point in time, meet up and Conner finds out that here is a parent figure that is both available and actively wants to be a part of his life, so he agrees to get to know Lex and the series would focus on them becoming a family, with a special episode when Conner asks Lex for help in choosing a name for himself and it ends up with him agreeing to become Conner Luthor, it would be heartwarming and Mercy would make sure it happens within a day (Mercy is Lex’s bodyguard/PA but they’re also besties and she becomes the Responsible yet Chaotic Aunt as Lex and Conner’s father-son relationship progresses)
Obviously Clark becomes super suspicious of Lex getting close to his ‘clone’ and when Conner decides to go public as Lex’s son he’s like *GASP* and calls up Bruce because we need to get on this Bruce, Lex is a villain and blah blah blah but Bruce would be over Clark’s shit and hit him with that “actually, Lex was also an unwilling genetic donor to Superboy, who actually is not your clone either, and has agreed to take him in, I’ve been on this shit since they first met and the kid is doing just fine so if you keep poking your nose in their business then that’s your problem but you better be ready to pay child support bitch . . . have a good day ❤️”
The series would just focus on Conner getting to have a good parent figure in Lex and go more into their civilian lives rather than focusing on the superhero thing, Conner, Bart, Tim & Cassie have a sleepover at Lex’s house at one point, Lex totally Knows what’s up but it’s all good because these are his baby’s friends and they’re good people who are more than willing to prank Superman for rejecting his kid and giving his baby self worth issues (Mercy supports them)
Anyway, that’s basically the idea for a new Superhero Show
#humor#superfamily#that’s new#focusing on Conner (the OG Superboy)#because they are always excluding him#so now Lex Luthor is a caring father to him#because yes#give this boy some love#conner kent#lex luthor#clark kent#bruce wayne#tim drake#superman#superboy#cassie sandsmark#bart allen#the Core Four is here too#Lex isn’t really a villain#he’s not evil either#finding ways to neutralize Superman is just like a side quest#because yes Superman is a paragon of good and Justice#but mind control exists#so pardon Lex for wanting to be able to protect himself from an out of control Superman#Clark totally thinks that Lex is obsessed with stopping him#because they had a bad friendship ending back in high school#but Lex isn’t aware of this ‘rivalry’ he’s supposed to be a part of#so it’s just Clark being suspicious of Lex and Lex not having a clue about this#or just not giving a shit because he’s a busy businessman trying to run a huge company#just a new idea for a new DC show focusing on the Supers

My Ranking of the Madrigals’ Gifts!
1. Now, obviously Isabela’s is the best, I mean, obviously!
2. Luisa: Who wouldn’t want super strength?!
3. Julieta: I would love to heal people but I’m not exactly the most nurturing of people, plus, I’m not really into cooking.
4. Pepa: This one I debated with Antonio’s gift over for a while. Controlling the weather? Awesome! Badass! Cool! Rad! Fabulous! Only draw is that it’s tied to your emotions and I wouldn’t exactly be able to hide them if that were the case. I still think it would be great if I learned to control and embrace my emotions because of it, though. Plus, nobody would mess with me if I were the girl who could electrocute you if I got angry. And I could always just say it was out of my control, just my emotions!
5. Antonio: I would’ve considered making this one above Pepa’s, small vice is that I’m kind of scared of animals. Especially dogs. But I put it as high as I did because knowing what animals really think would make me less scared of them. Plus, I could always send a shark or an alligator to kill someone if they irritate me. And it would protect me as well.
6. All right all right all right all right all right...I know most people don’t like Dolores’ gift, and I understand and respect the reasons why. Hearing people have sex? Hearing people pee, poop, and masturbate? Hearing people’s hearts stop? The constant screams in agony, chewing, eye-twitching, and spitting? I understand. But if she can hear it all at once, who’s to say that she can’t simply tune out the more uncomfortable sounds? Assuming she can control what she wants to hear or amplify certain sounds, think of all the possibilities her gift possesses! There are so many ways I could use it! Aside from getting some good, juicy gossip, I could use my gift to blackmail people, or to alert people on something happening that they should be aware of. I would also know anytime someone’s talking shit about me. The best part about having Dolores’ gift is that I don’t even have to tell people I hear what they’re doing. I could just go up to someone who antagonizes me and tell them that I heard the embarrassing thing they did last night. Plus, hearing someone dying isn’t as bad as it seems, since I could always get help in advance. Maybe get some of Julieta’s buñuelos to heal them? Just a thought. Though mainly I just like it for the blackmail. IMO the worst gift is someone else’s...
7. Mirabel and Abuela...don’t have gifts. I’m sorry, but they don’t. I guess being the candle holder/matriarch of the family as well as the glue could count as a gift, but those are just theories(albeit substantial ones) borne out of the fandom as far as I’m aware. They don’t actually express any powers, so I can’t really place them anywhere but here.
8. Bruno: I mean, I don’t really have to explain this one, do I? We...we all saw the movie, didn’t we? Or at least listened to We Don’t Talk About Bruno? Yeah.
9. And last but not least...oh wait, it is the least. The least desirable “gift”. And I thought Dolores’ gift was bad, but it turns out that Camilo really takes the cake. Or the arepa. Whatever. Shapeshifting is a curse. Seriously. If Camilo is any indication I’d have a life-long identity crisis from before I was even old enough to develop my own identity. I’d also forget what my face looks like and have to carry a mirror around. Not to mention shapeshifting would be physically and mentally exhausting, like...it helps(not) that everyone would just take advantage of my power and make me be someone else in order to help them with something, thus drilling into my mind unintentionally that I am only useful as other people and thus amping up my insecurity. The only advantage I can think of to having shapeshifting abilities is being able to use them to frame other people for something I did, and like Dolores’ gift, I could also worm information out of other people(and then transform back into myself to see their reactions if that information has to do with me, just for the shits and giggles). But that’s literally the only positive, I’m sorry. Camilo’s gift sucks, or at least, it would suck for me personally to have.
Feel free to tell me your thoughts or if you agree or disagree, but do so respectfully!

Damaged Souls
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings: dark humor, cussing, loss of parent.
A/N: A comfort fic for myself/ me dealing with my dad’s passing. NOT EDITED, sorry for mistakes.
Summary: While waiting to meet with Steve, Bucky meets a woman trying to skateboard.
The park was twelve steps away from where Bucky parked, waiting patiently for his usually on time friend. He leaned against his hood, a cup of stale gas station coffee in hand. The plan was to meet Steve for some down time - he hadn’t gotten much time off from work lately. Sam and he were doing some intense intel ventures that brought him away from home in weekly intervals. Now that his oldest friend was, well, his oldest friend - he tried to see the aging gentleman as often as possible.
His cell phone rang and he picked it up to Steve apologizing for running late. “I guess old age has its disadvantages.”
“Come, on, punk,” Bucky teased, eyes following a woman who was walking passed him. She held a skateboard in hand, a duffle bag thrown over her shoulders. “By the time you get down here, I’ll have gray hair too.”
Steve laughed and promised to be there as soon as he could. “Go grab us a bench, before they’re all taken.”
“Jesus, you really are old.”
“Respect your elders,” Steve coaxed, laughing as his dog barked for his attention. “Be there soon, Buck.”
The friends hung up and Bucky sighed, pushing himself off the car hood. He walked further into the park, sipping on his coffee and enjoying the fresh air. Admittedly, he was tired and a little run down. He was truly looking forward to meeting up with Steve, so he wasn’t upset that he had to wait a little longer. It was nice being out, so he took his time looking for a bench and ended up finding one near a basketball court. No one was playing, so he sat down and relaxed.
That’s when he noticed you walking up to the court; he wondered if you were going to play alone but saw the skateboard in your hand. You were the woman who had passed him in the parking lot - he watched as you threw the duffel bag down at the edge of the court. Drinking his coffee, he focused on you - observing as you put on knee and elbow pads on. That was more protection than Sam wore on missions, the thought made him laugh a little too loud because you turned his way. Bucky quickly took a sip of his coffee, pretending to not notice you.
You looked away and continued to secure yourself before moving to the middle of the court. Embarrassed, Bucky tried to not stare, cursing his friend to hurry up so he wouldn’t look like such a creeper. He attempted to think of the things he wanted to tell Steve, mainly asking him for advice on how to rein Sam in but those thoughts were momentary. His eyes quickly went back to watching you attempt to skateboard.
He noticed how unsure you were at first, getting on the board and kicking off but stopping yourself right after. Personally, he never rode a skateboard in his life - he already spent too much time off the ground and he could only imagine how silly he would look. So, it was interesting to watch someone attempting to learn - he was living vicariously through you, whoever you were. Feeling a bit more relaxed as you noticed him less and less as the time went by, Bucky watched freely and even felt excited for you when things started to go smoothly. You were balancing yourself perfectly and even picking up speed, and as if his promising thoughts were jinx - he watched as the skateboard halted and you flew backwards.
Bucky couldn’t stop himself, leaving his coffee on the bench as he raced forward. You had fallen on your back and when he got to you, he was shocked to see you were laughing on the ground.
“Miss, are you okay?”
You blinked a few times before waving a hand in the air. “I’m fine, just...my ass hurts.”
Bucky laughed and offered up a hand. “Let me help you up, it looked like…”
“I ate shit,” you murmured, letting him pull you off the ground. Rubbing the back of your head, he asked if you hit it. “Not hard at all, I guess that’s what I get for being 30 and thinking I was Tony freaking Hawk.”
Bucky had no clue who you were talking about, but he just smiled. “I’m glad you’re okay, if it helps, before the fall it looked like you were doing great.”
Reaching down for the skateboard, you shrugged. “I guess, it’s really not that hard but my body felt that fall.”
“It looked brutal,” he admitted, pointing to the bench he was occupying. “Maybe you should sit down for a bit?”
You looked to the bench then back to the man in front of you - he was attractive, that much was obvious but his smile was kind and that’s what reeled you in. You wondered if he did this often - lingered around the park for silly women who did silly things to occupy their depression.
“I probably should, let me go get my bag.”
Bucky watched as you started to walk away but stopped, turning to tell him your name. He took the hand you held out and shook it lightly. “I’m Bucky.”
“Thanks for watching me fall on my ass, Bucky,” you amused, nodding to where your bag sat. “I’ll meet you at the bench.”
He watched as you left to retrieve your bag, scratching his head and praying that in his old age, Steve would take even longer to get to the park. Jogging back to the bench, Bucky sat down and picked up his coffee just as you approached. You were limping a little and he had to hide his smile as you sat down, tossing the bag down to the ground along with the skateboard.
“I have to ask,” he said, trying to get the conversation going. “Why skateboarding?”
You let out a low laugh but your smile faded quickly; he recognized the pain in your eyes and he felt guilty for asking such an innocent question.
“Well, my dad passed a few months ago,” you explained, feeling the constant lump in your throat forming. “And...it was one of those things, where life just feels empty. So, here I am, trying to cure my depression one new hobby at a time.”
Bucky felt a sting in his throat as you shrugged and laughed - god, he knew that feeling all too well. He lost all his family and the hell he had been put through since then, had crushed his soul. “Sorry about your father.”
“Don’t be sorry, you didn’t kill him.”
It was apparently raw, the false sense of humor in your voice - trying to deal with your pain with dark jokes. He could tell you used it often by the shrug you gave, paired with a nervous laugh. Bucky just grinned back and asked what number hobby was skateboarding.
“Shit, number six. I’ve done knitting, rug making, yoga, day drinking, throwing myself off buildings,” you laughed as you rattled off random things. Bucky grinned and shook his head, asking if you had found something worth sticking to.
“I kinda like skateboarding, just gliding around feels free. At least...I don’t know,” you said, embarrassment written on your face. Here you were, showcasing your dead dad personality to a complete stranger….again. The difference was that this time, the person wasn’t walking away confused and unsettled by you - a person so terribly broken all she could do was just laugh at her life. Laugh loud and abruptly because it was either laughing or crying, and fuck, were you sick of crying.
“I understand,” Bucky said quietly, half smiling as he stared down at the to go cup in his hands. “It feels like you’re just standing still while everything around you keeps on living, like you’re frozen in time…”
“Exactly,” you practically yelled, holding back as you laughed a little. “I mean, shit, can I bitch get a break?”
Bucky’s eyes widened at your vulgar humor and you apologized. “Sorry, I just - I blurt things out without thinking, more than ever now. “
He held up a hand and grinned. “No need to apologize, it’s actually refreshing.”
“Thanks,” you smiled, glancing down at your cell. “I have to go, I just decided to randomly come to practice but I need to go meet my sister. We have our weekly crying sessions over ramen and slushies.”
You reached down for the duffel bag and skateboard, and he watched as you took off the knee and elbow pads, stuffing them in the bag. Zipping the bag, you stood up and groaned. “Yeah, my ass is going to be sore tomorrow.”
“Ice it,” Bucky teased, standing up with you. “I’m glad you’re okay...it was nice meeting you.”
“Yeah, again, thanks for witnessing my downfall,” you remarked, unable to move. This was different, it felt strange and a part of you didn’t want to leave the bench or this stranger. Not wanting to miss your chance and this possible attractive sign from the universe, you decided to make a move. “So, I’m going to be coming back here tomorrow around noon to practice some more…”
Bucky felt relief in his chest as he smiled over at you. “I’ll bring a bucket of ice.”
Laughing, you pointed a finger at him. “That was a good one, I better go - my sister might commit suicide if I’m not there on time and I can’t let her go see our dad first. I’m very competitive like that.”
Your eyes watched for Bucky’s reaction and when he shook his head with a chuckle, you just knew he understood. Whatever he had gone through, although not the same as yours or maybe it was, it definitely was a pain the two of you could connect with and that was enough reason to show up the next day.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then,” he nodded, his smile small and kind.
Holding back a smile, you started to walk away but turned to wave at him. He waved back, although you had to admit, he looked pretty dorky. Laughing, you turned around and nearly bumped into an elderly gentleman with his dog.
“Oh, sorry!”
He smiled and shook his head. “No problem, sweetheart, have a nice day.”
Usually a sweetheart from anyone irritated you but his sweetheart was kind and surprisingly genuine. Smiling at him, you left the park somewhat happy for the first time in a long time.
…
Bucky watched as Steve made his way to the bench, patting the seat next to him. “About time, old man.”
Ignoring the comment, Steve sat down, whistled for his dog to sit, and nudged Bucky in the ribs - he was still pretty strong for a man of his age. “She seems nice.”
Not surprised at all, he laughed. “So you saw that whole thing?”
Steve shrugged. “I saw enough, are you going to see her again.”
Thinking of the sadness in your eyes and the familiar reflection he saw in the mirror every morning, he glanced over to the basketball court. He had felt lonely for so long and while he wasn’t going to depend on anyone else or put his own baggage on others, but something about you felt interconnected.
Two damaged souls, it sounded very dramatic but hell, his whole life had been dramatic.
“Yeah,” Bucky said through a smile. “I’m definitely going to see her again.”

Master List
It was supposed to be settled.
Twenty
“So how much should I order for the party next week?” I analyze the list of food, booze, and supplies I had to order for EZ’s patch party. Or I suppose depending on the vote it would be a normal Friday night party at the clubhouse. Bishop didn’t or couldn’t tell me which way the club was leaning. I saw how proud he looked when EZ did things for the club. The way he would handle club business.
And EZ had become his prospect. I heard some of the stories about Angel being his sponsor in the beginning and how blood and the patch were getting confused. I had a feeling there was more to the story. But that’s all I could get out of any of them.
“I think it’ll just be the club,” Bishop pulls my hair from my neck to press his lips there. “But could be more. Maybe getting another delivery from SAMCRO. Ramos and Canche texted me and are coming down too. Don’t know if they’ll still be here for that.” His fingers work the muscles in my back, “You don’t have to do all this, querida. That’s what we have prospects for.”
“I won’t let EZ plan his own party,” I let my eyes close and I just feel his hands and lips on me. “It wouldn’t be fair.”
“You don’t know if it’s gonna be EZ’s party, Hermosa,” his hand dips down the front of my shirt. I let out a soft moan as his fingertips danced over my nipple. Bringing it to a hardened peak. My head falls back against his chest and I let him distract me from my task. A welcome distraction.
Or it would have been until the shrill of both of our phones pulled us from our activities. I would have ignored it but no one called me, not unless it was important. And the number that popped up on the screen was from Charming.
I couldn’t hear the words from the other end of Bishop’s line but I heard the familiar Scottish accent. And on mine, I got Montez, the Road Captian, from SAMCRO. I met him briefly in Charming a few months ago. “Chibs wants a sit-down,” he says.
“I know, he’s on the phone with Bishop now,” I respond, “What’s this about?”
“Just about our mutual business dealings,” he stated. Guns. The email I got from Declan a few days ago said as much without saying anything at all.
“I get it, but this is more club business, isn’t it?” I quirk a brow as I stand from my seat. Bishop had paced off to have a more discrete conversion with the SAMCRO president.
“You should be there,” he says, “Chibs wants you there.”
“OK,” I responded, “I’ll be there. I’ll leave it to the club to make the arrangements.” Without another word, I end the call. I hear Bishop’s boots on the hardwood floor behind me.
“Church?” I ask and he nods,” Well there goes our quiet morning.” I stand up from the kitchen table, my hands cup his face, and press my lips to his. “Just let me know where we’re heading and for how long once you know. I need to get a shower and get ready. Then I can meet you at the clubhouse.”
“I still don’t like you involved in the shit we do,” he tells me. It wasn’t something I pressed. I stayed back dealing mainly with the back-end stuff, letting Chibs and Declan handle the stuff on the ground.
“I know,” I wrap my arms around his neck and just hold him for a brief moment before letting him leave to do club business.
---
I toss an overnight bag in the back of my SUV. Just a couple changes of clothes for me and Bishop just in case. Text from Taza said we were meeting at a lodge at 8. Leaving from the clubhouse at 2. Club messages were always cryptic. No details, just exactly what I needed to know. And only what I needed to know.
I pulled into the parking lot of the scrapyard. “Jefe wants you to ride in the van with me,” Creeper says as he takes my bag.
“Why?” I ask sharper than intended, “No offense.”
“I don’t ask questions,” he replies, “but he’s inside.”
“You’re putting me in the van?” my eyes narrowed as I walked inside, word oozing with irritation. Bishop was sitting at the table with Taza and Hank.
“Drop the tone and sit the fuck down,” Bishop’s eyes dark as he looks back at me. I let out a breath as I took a seat. Something about his commanding voice did something to me. I didn’t want to feel a pooling between my thighs when he talked to me that way but it happened. I wanted to be pissed at him for talking to me that way, but my body betrayed me.
“Alright,” I tuck a curl behind my ear, “Why am I riding in the van and not with you?”
“Me and my guys have to be on a united front,” he replied, “ with the Kings and the Reaper. No weakness.”
“So I make you weak?” my voice is shakier than I would like.
“You make me unfocused,” he stated, “we get there I’ve got to go up against the Cro and keep my shit together with the Kings. Can’t afford distractions.”
"I'm not planning a striptease or anything, I'm just going to be there," I straighten up in my seat, finding my voice again, "to protect my family's interest," My eyes lock with Bishop's, "Both of my families interests."
"You being there is enough," Bishop replied his voice slightly softer. "Ride up there in the van, querida."
"Ok," I conceded, "I suppose there won't be time for me to clean up before the meeting."
I watch out the windshield, the bikers' formation. It's different than I'd experienced before. The poetry was still there but I was no longer a part of it. Just a spectator. El Presidente flanked by his VP and his Sergeant at Arms, Gilly, Coco, and Angel road behind them EZ still took the rear.
"We'll be there soon, chica," Creeper's voice interrupts my thoughts. "Not as far as the last time we road together."
"Sorry, I haven't been the better riding companion," I tell him.
"Don't worry about it, I get it. My ol' lady never listens to me either," he chuckled.
"I didn't know you had a girl," I quirk a brow.
"She works nights so doesn't come to the clubhouse often," Creep responds. "She is her own woman, like you. She ain't like the club hang arounds."
"She sounds like a keeper," I smile at him, "I guess I do need to pick my battles. Club stuff can get complicated. Especially when emotions and business is involved.”
"Bish just wants to keep you safe. We all do," Creeper pulls the van to a stop.
"I know," I watch as my boys file their bikes into a parked row outside of the lodge. "I appreciate it. Even when I don't."
I adjust my boobs and slide my feet into a pair of heels. One benefit of riding in the van, the ability to wear my favorite strappy heels. I swing the door open and step out. The lodge is woody and manly. Very appropriate for the situation.
I smile at the feel of a familiar hand resting on the small of my back, "Let's get inside, Hermosa." I nod in return. Inside the scent of leather, smoke, and whiskey filled my nose. I stand nodding as Bishop and Taza go over the plans with the tribe leaders.
"If it isn't Bishop's Princesa irlandesa," Oso Ramos kisses my cheek before embracing Bishop in a bro hug.
"You remember Canche?" Bishop nods to the Yuma President.
"Nice to see you again," I offer a smile as I hug the man. Over the next half hour or so I hugged and kissed my way through another dozen or so burly bikers. I took my place at Bishop's side. I was given shows of respect being the ol' lady of a Mayan King. And the representative of the Irish Kings. This world embraced me in a way that the one I'd come from never had before.
"What'll you have to drink?" one of the guys asks.
"Whiskey and cranberry, please," I respond. The glass was handed to me an instant before the front doors of the lodge swing open and SAMCRO saunters through.
"Who do ya gotta fuck ta get a drink around here?" Chibs baritone unmistakable. The lips of the kings spread into a smile as they step up to welcome the Reaper crew. We have a drink then make our way into the conference room. The table stretched the length. SAMCRO seated on one side, Chibs shouldered by Happy, Montez, and the biggest biker I’d ever seen in my fucking life, Rane Quinn. The Mayan Kings sat on the other flanked by Taza and Hank.
My shoulders pushed back I keep my head held high as I take my seat at the head of the table. I couldn’t show that I was taking sides. Though clearly, I did have a bias. I listened as Chibs explains the delay in trading off the guns to the Mayans.
“The North Cali port authority has made the decision for us,” Chibs said, “they’re closing down the Mendocino port. The Irish have nowhere to bring their guns.”
“Shit,” Bishop says snuffing out his cigarette.
I look between the men and add, “There’s another shipment coming in two weeks but after that, until we find a new dealer. I talked to the Irish Kings,” I look from Bishop to Canche and Oso, then to Chibs, “I asked them to give us a little time to work out a new import strategy. SAMCRO has come up with something that could keep our business dealings going.”
“Sorry to drop this all on ya laps boys,” Chibs looks directly at Bishop. “But that’s the way it is.”
“You wanna bring ‘em South,” Bishop responds, “that’s why my crew is here.”
“Aye,” Chibs states, “way south. There’s an MC that runs the port down in Tijuana.”
“The Vatos Malditos,” Alvarez adds. The name didn’t ring the same recognition that it did for Bishop and the rest of my Mayans.
Bishop leans forward in his chair, “Shit, we just had a little run-in with the VM. I didn’t end well.”
“Well, fuck,” Chibs responded. I searched my recent memory for what the hell had happened and met Coco’s gaze.
“That thing with Letty?” I asked. He nodded his agreement.
“Their Prez is a friend of mine,” Montez adds, “He didn’t mention any beef.”
“You already talked to them?” Bishop asked.
“Aye, we had to make sure we could make a deal,” Chibs responded, “They’re coming up here.”
“You’ve got to be shitting me?” Hank grunted.
“If Palo didn’t mention it,” Montez states, “It means he’s willing to sit down and meet. Nothing is going go down while we’re here.”
“Is there any way things can be worked out with the VM?” I cut my eyes to Bishop then back to Chibs and Montez.
Bishop eyes Hank then talks softly to Canche and Oso. Reluctantly he sighs, “They come to the table we’re willing to talk, we are willing to listen.”
“It’s a beautiful thing,” Chibs responds. “Now until they get here I need another fucking drink.” I hang back at the table feeling a touch out of place as the guys filed out of the room. I couldn’t or wouldn’t try to influence Bishop’s decision but I knew that if this deal didn’t pan out, I could be cut out of my family’s business. And the business was my last remaining connection to my father.
“Yo, Malibu,” Angel’s voice interrupted my inner dialog. “Come outside and have a smoke.”
I looked up at him confused, “What are you talking about? I don’t smoke.”
“You look like you could use one,” he responded, “Or a good fuck but Bish is occupied with the Kings and can’t accommodate you right now.”
“You are an ass,” I stand up from the table and walk with him outside. The pounding of fist against flesh fills my ears, EZ on the ground punching the face of another Mayan.
“What the fuck?” Angel says, “He can’t hit a patch.”
“He can if I tell him to,” Coco responds.
“That’s fucked up, he put fucking hands on us,” the larger of the other Mayans shouts.
“He’s obeying orders,” Coco states with a smirk. I stand back watching this display of masculinity with a smile of my own. It was a welcome distraction from everything else that was going on.
“Y’all wanna bother the Kings with this petty shit right now?” Angel asks. EZ breathes hard stepping back. He got whatever it was that was in his system out.
I place my hand on his chest, “You good?”
“Yeah,” he responds, “I needed that.” EZ shrugs off and moves over with his brother.
I step past him and take a look at the guy he was fighting, his face bloody. “What’s your name, sweetheart?”
“Dolla,” he answers, “We just fucking with the Prospect.”
I show him my hands as I step closer to him, “Doesn’t matter why. Let me check your face. Make sure nothing’s broken.” I hold his face in my hands, my thumb moves lightly down the bridge of his nose, then over his orbital bone, and along his cheekbones. “You’ll be fine. I’d suggest you go around back to the bathroom to wash up. Don’t want your Prez to find out you lost a fight to a Prospect.”
I give him a wink then follow Angel, EZ, Coco, and Riz back inside. “Is the smoke pad always that exciting?” I ask as I catch up with them.
“All the time,” Riz says with a smile, “why I haven’t quit yet.” I take a seat on the arm of the oversized leather couch beside Bishop, his hand moves to possessively rest on my thigh.
“You ok, querida?” he reaches up wiping blood from my face with his thumb.
“It’s not mine,” I take the napkin offered, “One of the Tempe guys had an accident outside. I just checked him out.”
“The Vatos are here,” Hank says as he enters the room. We all stand, Bishop directing me protectively behind him. The tension in the air was palpable. I could see Bishop’s jaw tighten when Chibs spoke softly to them. My own heart raced but I stood firm. Weakness wouldn’t be acceptable in this room full of Alpha males.
We file back into the conference room. This time Chibs took a seat with Montez at the head, the VM on one side then the Mayans on the other. The room filled so fully men were lining the walls. The VM leader glared at me as I made my way to the foot of the table. Dolla from Tempe sporting the beginnings of a black eye slides the chair out for me.
“I can work with Santo Padre to schedule with the Irish,” I started.
“VM unloads and stores,” Chibs continues, “then transports to the East Cali border. We think 30% is fair to cut them in for.”
“Agreed,” Bishop responds.
“I won’t take orders from a woman,” El Palo barks.
“One word from this woman,” I narrow my eyes in his direction, “and this whole bloody deal is done. The Irish Kings would be more than happy to find another dealer to handle their business. And you can go back to scamming lost sheep.”
“Calm down,” Chibs says, “the both o’ ya. Ms. O’Shay is here at the request of the Irish. And will be here as long as they wish it.” I lean back in my seat listening as they discuss numbers and cuts. None of this concerned me. Not until they started talking about the Mayans paying restitutions.
“You lost men because you came in our fucking backyard,” Bishop said firmly. “What the fuck did you think was gonna happen?” My heart began to race again.
“The Mayans killed nine of my fucking men,” El Palo said.
“You were wrong,” Taza shouted.
“Can we just say that you both were fucking wrong?” Chibs states and looks over to the Mayan side of the table, “You’ve got to put something on this table so we can get the fuck outta here.”
After whispering with Canche and Oso, Bishop offers, “We’ll match SAMCRO’s 5%.”
“Fuck that!” El Palo yells, “20%!”
“Fuck you!” Bishop shouts. The men on both sides of the table stand up squaring off. Happy pulls his piece from his kutte.
“Jesus Christ! Fuck!” Chibs shouts still sitting in his chair at the head of the table. “You fucking Mexicans you make us Scotts look sensible. Gentleman get your fucking dicks off the table this is a fair deal.” Bishop and the Kings nod and everyone takes their seats again.
“I’m glad we can all come to a peaceful understanding,” I state. “Slainte!” I down my glass and the rest of the Mayans and Vatos join in reluctant acceptance. I hang back as the men file out. The VM exits the front and SAMCRO out the back. The men say their goodbyes.
Bishop laces his fingers with mine as we head back inside. “It’s a good thing what you did in there, hermosa.” He presses his lips to my temple.
“It wasn’t so hard,” I gave his hand a squeeze with a smile. “I’m used to handling angry Mexicans.”
“Don’t worry, querida,” he smirks, placing my hand on his member through his jeans, “I got plenty for you to handle.”
“I know you do,” I give him a kiss and a gentle squeeze. We sit and have a few more drinks. Music plays over the speakers. The playfulness of the evening was cut short but the sound of an explosion outside.
“Stay there,” Bishop jumps to his feet following the crew outside. I hung back, staying just inside the door a bike was on fire. I jump at the sound of machine gunfire. It seemed to come from all directions.
“Taz, Nova get down,” Riz shouts. I saw El Palo’s eyes clearly, he was focused on his assault. Riz took the shot and fell back on top of me. I never knew the man could be so heavy. I kept down. I heard Bishop’s voice yelling, his gun firing. All of their gun’s firing.
I shifted out from under Riz when the gunfire stopped. “Riz,” I place my fingers on his neck finding a weak pulse. Labored breathing. My hands moved down his chest and applied pressure to the wound. “Call an ambulance!”
I couldn’t think anymore, I just held pressure on his wound.
“Nova,” Creeper’s voice, “you’re bleeding.”
“It’s not my blood,” I muttered. Not sure if the shock or the adrenaline wore off but I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder.
“Lay back, sweetheart,” Taza’s voice soothed me, “Get a fucking ambulance now!” I could feel the color leave my face as I fell back. My hands were covered with blood. A mixture of Riz’s and my own. The room spun and went dark as I heard the approaching sirens.
