“Tell me why!” She was fuming, set on letting go of a piercing scream. This must be a joke, a prank he was pulling on her - her grades were better than most, she was always on time, and when she was working for him, she did everything he asked of her.

“I don’t owe you any explanations. And your behaviour proves to me that you’re not mature enough to work on it. Leave.” (Y/n) didn’t move, she kept staring at Professor Riddle who slowly rose to his feet. A part of her screamed at her to leave, to run before it was too late, but the more stubborn part forced her to stand still and watch his every move. “Is this how you want to play? This is my last warning, (y/n).”

Her body was trembling in anger and need, all while her mind brought back flashes of a similar moment that had happened weeks ago. Back then she had left this room with trembling thighs and his handprint burned into her behind. The following hours had been spent hidden away in her room while pushing herself over the edge numerous times with his name burning on the tip of her tongue.

“I am not scared of you.” She cocked her head, chin pointed in his direction while she looked up at him. When he opens his mouth to speak, your surprised at how soft his voice is, calmly explaining to you that you're safe, you won't be hurt. He reaches out his hand to touch you, but recoils when you flinch, not wanting to push you.

Charlie who does everything he can to make you more comfortable and less afraid of him, getting you anything and everything you've ever shown interest in, giving you as much space as you need, and letting you roam the rather large house freely. All you can't do is leave. He doesn't understand why you're still so scared, sure he's a criminal, but he promised he would never hurt you!

Mafia boss! Charlie who gets more desperate for your love as time goes on. He starts appearing in whatever room your in, softly talking to you about his day or about whatever you're doing, trying to get you to be more comfortable with him. Once you've gotten used to that, he starting slowly initiating physical contact, holding you in his arms like he's never going to let you go (because he won't). He tried his hardest not to push your boundaries, but eventually his need to be near you becomes too great. Rest assured though, he would never, ever dream of hurting you or purposely scaring you.

Mafia boss! Charlie who can't get enough of the feeling of your skin on his. He starts hugging/cuddling you whenever he can, holding you like you'll break if he presses too hard. He's always near you, cuddling up to you while telling you about how much he loves you, adoration shining in his eyes. He's the clingiest at night though, whispering sweet nothings into your ear as you fall asleep, him watching over you until he succumbs to his own tiredness. And his kisses? They are the softest, fluffiest thing you've ever felt. He cannot get enough of your lips, and he always kisses you passionately, like you'll disappear once he separates from you. With how loving and gentle he is, it doesn't take long for you to start loving him back.

Mafia boss! Charlie who starts giving you more privileges the farther you fall into stockholm. He'll even start taking you out in public on dates once he thinks there's no chance of you trying to escape him. He'd be able to find you if you did, he has many, many connections, but he trusts you won't. He loves going out with you and doing normal, coupley things with you, it's a nice break from his usual, violent life.

Mafia boss! Charlie who is insanely protective of you, never leaving you alone in a room with anyone except for himself. He knows how dangerous it is to be associated with him and now that he has you, he refuses to let anything happen to you. Any rival who attempts to hurt, kill, or kidnap you is met with Charlie himself, who enacts the most brutal, torturous death he can possibly think of on them. Nobody will come close to hurting you, he'll make sure of it. But no matter what happens, he'll always make sure you're far, far away from the violence. He never wants to subject you to the horrors he's seen (and done).

Mafia boss! Charlie who feels awful the first time you hear him raise his voice. It wasn't at you of course, he would never, ever think of yelling at his darling, you just happened to be in the room when he was meeting with one of his associates. It's scary seeing him yell, threatening brutal acts of violence on his own employee, and for the first time you realize how different he is with others than he is with you. He's quick to shut the meeting down once he realizes you're there, spending the rest of the night apologizing to you and assuring you he would never speak to you like that. This'll be the first time he truly opens up about what his job is like and why he has to be as cruel as he is, trying to help you understand why he behaved the way he did. It's difficult for him to make himself vulnerable, but he'd gladly to it if it meant easing your mind. From then on, he makes absolute sure you aren't around whenever he has to take care of business. He refuses to let you see him like that ever again.

Mafia boss! Charlie who never lets you forget how much he needs you in his life. You're the only thing keeping him from devolving into insanity, he wouldn't know how to handle himself if you were gone. He'll give you everything and anything if you listen to him and stay by his side, so please... please don't try to leave him.

Zeus needs to be dominant, no matter who he takes to bed, and if his partner even tries to take control then he might just straight up kill them. Odysseus also learn very quickly that he wants to be worshipped, something he’s more than happy to do if it means he’s kept in good favour.

I think Odysseus could top, and even be the dom at certain points, but it will always be on Poseidon’s terms. He is the one who has all the control, don’t get it twisted, he just sometimes likes it when Ody gets all aggressive, and well, ruthless with him. Extra attractive to him since he’s the one who made him like that. But usually Poseidon is the one on top, and oh boy he likes to play it rough. He’s probably Odysseus’ least favourite of the gods.

Oh Ody and Hermes is like, just a whole thing. Just like with Poseidon, Hermes will always have control of the scene, even when he lets Odysseus lead. He can be very mean though, especially when he’s the dominant, though not often enough that Odysseus would associate it with him. He may seem very impulsive and flippant, but every move he makes when it comes to his mortal is very calculated. Aftercare is usually lovely though.

The way I see Odysseus and Athena is that she is laying all her attention on him. She’s ace and sex just does kinda nothing for her, but on the rare occasion that she forms a connection with someone she doesn’t mind it, as long as she’s not like, fully apart of it (weird phrasing but idk how to phrase it lol). She’ll stroke, caress, and show love to him, truly taking it slow and affectionate, and enjoys seeing the bliss her warrior is in. She’d probably be Odysseus fave tbh.

Persephone and Hades would probably take Odysseus like, once in a blue moon, mainly as a way for Hades to piss off his brothers (Persy is just along for the ride. She loves her husband, what can I say?).

Also, I see Persephone and Hades as fully like, taking turns when it comes to dominance, depending on their moods and stuff. They have a lot of talks and communication around it, it’s very healthy.

While Zeus can be kinda soft (if not a little selfish) with his lovers when it’s just him, he gets way more aggressive when his older brother gets involved. He needs to establish is dominance over Poseidon at all times or he might explode, and Poseidon just grits his teeth and bears it. Poor Odysseus is just caught in the middle of all this, but Zeus is surprisingly a more attentive lover when Poseidon is in the picture, so it’s not all bad.

I got my college degree in English and the only reason my specialization wasn't creative writing is because I had bad time management skills and missed my chance to do my final creative writing workshop. I'm autistic and Storycrafting and Wordsmithing are my special interests. I understand writing pretty well.

AFTG opened my fucking eyes to a blind spot of the utter craftsmanship of writing sticky characters that infect you with brain worms, and here it is:

The Conflict of Material and Form

AKA the Character Creation version of Nature versus Nurture

Andrew Joseph Minyard:

Material: caring, protective, strong sense of justice, gentle even, cares deeply, give me sugar or give me death, yearning

Form: cold, apathetic, ruthless and unforgiving, allow me to introduce you to my knife, regret? don't know her, i want nothing nothing nothing

Why am I using 'material and form' instead of 'nature and nurture'? Because I am a subscriber to "Characters are not meant to be real people; they are mirages of real people meant to encapsulate a function or idea that serves the story". But use whatever terms click with your noggin.

This isn't about 'want vs need'. This isn't about 'lie believed and truth learned'. This is about Presentation and Basic Action - how would this character react here? Which part are they reacting from?

With Material vs. Form, one isn't the 'true' version and the other the 'false' version of the character. They are both true and real in their own right. The Secret Sauce is that the Material and the Form fight 1v1! And regardless of which part wins, there will be consequences and rewards; so which rewards do we want and which consequences are we willing to suffer? And this fight happens beat by beat, scene by scene, plot point by plot point.

At one point in TFC Neil laments his inability to shut his fucking mouth because his Form of 'don't stand out dipshit' and his Material of 'initiate smartass.exe' are disagreeing with how to respond to his circumstances! It's that fucking meme "My healed and unhealed versions of myself deciding who is going to handle this situation" but as Storycraft!

Now, I don't think this is a new idea by any means. But sometimes to make the essence of an idea truly stick, it must be presented in multiple different ways until one triggers a "Eureka! By Jove! Aha!", and this was the way that truly made this concept stick for me. And why did it stick? Because AFTG is a labor of deep love and passion for Characters and all their complexity and inner machinations, and that depth of devotion had to manifest as some good ass writing somehow my homies in christ.

I totally agree. the toxicity between toxic lando and toxic oscar fans is insane. I get that they are teammates, and of course you want your fave to be the winner, but it doesnt mean people should just bash the other driver.

Lando is the driver that got me in F1, he will always be my favorite, but i love oscar too. people told me its weird to like them both but like, you WANT your fave to get better right? that happends through a good teammate.

Yes Oscar was faster in China, yes with DRS he was quicker than lando, but that doesnt mean lando should be dragged through the mud because Oscar wasnt just let by. He was allowed to race, didnt beat lando, on we go to bahrein.

people are fighting grown men who they dont know anything about, creating personalities for them (Oscar being "ruthless, unemotional beast" which isnt true at all from what weve seen as he is a nice calculated guy more so, and lando being the "disrespectfull, immature brat") that the media stick to, even when proven wrong time and time again. People dont stay the same person they are through a year. Lando and Oscar have both grown a lot last year. A lot of fans have a parasocial relationship with their favorite drivers, and they feel the need to defend them as if itll help. its making F1 fanbase toxic, which is why im incredibly glad there are people who CAN still objectively look at things and drivers, even with a bias. i was both a seb and lewis fan during mercedes dominant years because them both have been my favourite drivers since i was a child, and that doesn't mean I can like one of them more (in my case, seb)

the problem comes, from my perspective, when fans think that they actually know drivers, who they really are outside tv and social media, and defend them as if they were their very own family members to establish some comparison. i get we all support drivers, and that's amazing, but that doesn't mean we can't be realistic about certain situations when it comes to racing as, for example, your parents or close friends won't be applauding you when you do something wrong (in most cases). sadly it's not only the fans but also the media when it comes to having bias (as i said, my commentators are all the time praising alonso or sainz when they actually don't perform good enough or as expected). imagine if actual "professional" people on the sport do that, what can't fans do?

i always try to be as objective as i can and yeah, i obviously have preferences for certain drivers and get mad when i don't see my drivers winning or on the podium, but i always do a post race briefing to myself judging every single one of them, specially my faves because they don't do always great

Okay I accidentally got the flambé insanity out of my system on my enstars spam Instagram but I’m still gonna scream about ibayuzu bc I NEED TO….

Listen, I may say things about how awful they are for each other and like ‘lol ibayuzu is their bad ending’ because I love me some toxic yaoi, but hear me out: nah it’s not actually all that toxic OR bad for them, they just need to SIT DOWN AND COMMUNICATE WITHOUT THE DRAMATICS AND THE CONSTANT TRYING TO ONE UP EACH OTHER which is probably not gonna happen because they both love the dramatics and one upping each other too much

Now here’s why: pretty much the ONLY TIME we see Yuzuru get to be himself is when he’s talking to Ibara. Can you imagine how much of a relief it must be to him that FINALLY he can drop the act and SNAP at this Guy? Knowing that a) he can take it because he’s actively encouraged it and is already well aware of exactly how ruthless Yuzuru is capable of being and b) it’s not going to ruin his reputation or leak his background to any fans or higher ups because Ibara needs to keep their history just as secret at Yuzuru. Ibara is so so important to Yuzuru because as much as he can complain about how much he despises him…. He’s not even ALLOWED to express open distaste for anyone else- this is the one person he can be a bitch towards without fear or without having to cover up the bitchiness with feigned niceties (and Yuzuru is such a bitch at heart xoxo)

And now for Ibara. Yuzuru is one of the only people he can ALWAYS trust. He knows Yuzuru’s past, he knows Yuzuru’s mindset better than anyone else and he KNOWS he’s the only one who’s aware of how Yuzuru really feels and works, which gives him the comfort of knowing that Yuzuru isn’t gonna betray him. Yuzuru has nothing to gain from screwing him over and ruining his life or anything else. Sure he’s a thorn in his side when it comes to his sneaky tricks and schemes, but when it comes to being able to breathe freely and not have to battle every day of his life, afraid that everyone around him is just waiting for the opportunity to tear him down and send him right back into the battlefield, he knows that Yuzuru is safe. And I think he’s aware enough by now that Yuzuru does genuinely care about him- favourite pupil privileges and all that.

So basically, Flambé sent me insane because of the amount of mentions about their joint past and the way they instantly retort back to anything the other says. Yuzuru snarkily saying that Ibara must struggle to give gifts because he doesn’t care about anyone else (I smell resentment from the past. Why are you so convinced of that, Yuzuru? You know Ibara just wanted a safe haven- upset that wasn’t you? Upset he chose Nagisa over you???? Upset that he doesn’t care about you like you care about him??????????). We also have Ibara scheming in his own mind and WATCHING for Yuzuru’s reaction. Because Yuzuru doesn’t say anything. We just get a sprite of him narrowing his eyes. And suddenly Ibara’s like ‘haha he noticed! Just as I expected hehe! Can’t get away with anything with Yuzuru around!’… Ibara why are you watching? Why are you waiting and hoping he thwarts you????? (Lmao Perry and Doofenshmirtz ass dynamic) Ibara you don’t need to pretend to be evil just to get Yuzuru to stop you so you have an excuse to enjoy being an idol….. but!! if i did have to sum it up, i think i’d have to start with his resilience. our boy is SO fkn strong like he takes everything that comes at him, chews it up, and spits it out at the world. he will literally never bend. i love it so much.

i love how ridiculously powerful he is. his magic? chefs kiss. the patronus is a thing of beauty.

he is also, i find, a bit of a study in contradictions. he’s kind and good, but he will unrepentantly use unforgivable same strangle a man and enable imprisonment of a reporter-turned-beetle. he can be ruthless, so manipulative, and still have a heart of gold. he’s shy, blends in at times, doesn’t think much of himself but has such a powerful presence that people look to him as the leader at all times. even after a year of being on the run and essentially disappearing from public sight.

he’s so snarky and sarcastic my babyyyyyy honestly his interactions w the dursleys are truly up there. he never lets shit bring him down.

i also just love. how badass he is? like one of my fav harry iterations is him postwar bc he’s truly a sum of his experiences atp. all of his scars, the frankly insane near-death experiences he’s had, the feats of magical power that no one expects—it all jus adds up to a really fkn cool package ykno? like he’s an urban legend or something.

No, not really. I've heard of the cancelled plans, but nothing really caught my eye. I was mainly inspired by the IDW shattered glass comics, and the way the Decepticons in TFA are always just a few war crimes away from being good guys. The times where they were living up to their name and being deceptive, I always found myself thinking "what if it wasn't an act? what if they really did care?" and that's where the sg au thoughts began.

Stuff like the autobot high command being deeply messed up even in canon, the way that Sumdac was so sweet and kind with Megatron when he thought he was an autobot, and the way Longarm/Shockwave was the only bot who seemed to care about Bee in training were a major part of it.

I didn't need to change the autobots too much to be honest, they just had to be a bit more ruthless and overtly cruel. And for the decepticons, they were already fighting for their own reasons. I just wanted to see a world where they became freedom fighters instead of terrorists. And since Optimus and the space bridge crew aren't as entrenched in the autobot brainrot, I wanted to jump on the opportunity to get them to switch sides, so I can have all my fave characters.

There are also some things that I just injected straight from the IDW shattered glass, aside from the color palettes, like Starscream being a scientist and Shockwave struggling with his infiltration bc he has too much empathy. But there are also a ton of things that I don't want to mirror, because even though they were interesting, the overall tone of the au is fluffy. If I could make everyone turn traitor, I would, but right now I'm just looking at the space bridge crew and Blurr.

Is he? What do you think about the possible aspects of it actually happening?

For me personally, I can feel it in my gut that she'll ruin Voldemort's character (despite being his creator).

Honestly, I didn't hear about it and I'm very skeptical of anything further she might write about the Wizarding World. She supposedly approves of the Cursed Child which breaks lore and characters in unimaginable ways in my opinion, and she wrote the Fantastic Beasts movies that have many writing problems along with being filled with retcons, so I don't think I trust her with Voldemort.

I think, that with Voldemort, she wrote an incredibly interesting character that I wrote a lot about (he's my number 3 fave after Harry and Sirius). Because I find him and his psychology fascinating. I agree with the fact he is often misunderstood and I actually hate his portrayal in the movies. I think Ralph just didn't get his character right (like, the worst thing about the movies for me is everyone's characterization).

Voldemort isn't a cool person, but he knows how to pretend he is one. I think he's a magic nerd who hates himself quite a bit. Like, he manages to both think incredibly highly of himself and despise his very being at the same time. The thing is, even though he hates himself, he hates everyone else more.

He's stubborn and brave and ruthless, not out of cruelty, but what he sees as necessary, plus not really caring for most people. He has no idea what friendship is and doesn't know how to trust while simultaneously being desperate for a real human connection. And validation, he wants everyone to look up to him and tell him how great he is. This is one of the main reasons why he keeps the Death Eaters around, I think.

He is a man of walking contradictions who became a boogyman under magical children. I don't think he ever really cared about ruling wizarding Britain or blood purity and was mostly just running a war as a distraction for the Ministry while he was doing his side gig (being a private sector Unspeakable for very questionable magic in the first war, killing Harry Potter in the second).

But I don't think JKR sees him the way I do.

Like, she happens to write some great things seemingly by accident and I'm not sure what she thinks about Voldemort is what she actually wrote about Voldemort. Especially if she thinks Dumbledore's version of Tom is the correct one (since I don't).

As for how likely I think that series/book is to happen? I'd say chances are low. I mean, she's heavily involved in the HBO show, so I don't think it's likely she's working on something like this. And while I'm not the most aware when it comes to pop culture (I honestly don't care about most of it), I am pretty aware of what's going on with the wizarding world and I've never heard about this, so I'm pretty sure it's not actually happening any time soon if at all, but I don't actually know what she's doing so 🤷‍♀️.

What if your romantic male lead is a monster? - a bit of a love letter post to Goodbye My Princess and The King's Woman

I've been thinking about these two dramas, and how much I love them. Now that a lot of airing cdramas I was loving finished, I have room and might end up rewatching either of them.

Goodbye My Princess is set in a fictional kingdom and has fictional protagonists and The King's Woman follows the very real founder of the Qin Dynasty and a fictional woman he loves but what both of them do so so so well is posit "what if our romantic male lead was a monster. A monster in love" and take that to its logical conclusion.

A little backtrack - there are of course plenty of narratives that have monstrous male leads, but the thing is - usually the narrative has them redeemed by love or, infuriatingly, does not agree with the viewer/reader's assessment of the male lead's monstrosity. Here, GMP and TKW confront the monstrosity head on - it is real and the love they feel is also real but there is no happy ending or redemption. A monster can love, but he (or she) is much more likely to destroy the object of their affection or drag them down to monstrosity with them; best case scenario, the other person leaves. But few narratives have the nerve to go that way - to portray that love as epic, as real, as everything - and yet end in destruction.

I confess I am very fond of any narrative of how one of the couple being ruthless/bad/whatever and not redeeming themselves has an impact on their relationship. Other dramas that do different variations of that flavor (Empress Ki, where both of them do not start out as monsters and both end up monsters together, or Princess Agents and The Outsiders, where ML starts out as a wonderful person who becomes monstrous for totally understanding/sympathetic reasons etc etc, or even politically ruthless men who save their softness for their personal life because it's safe to do so (The Advisors Alliance or one of the couples in Eternal Brotherhood) are all faves.) But nothing does it for me as much as "he was a monster from the moment FL met him, and he loved her more than his life, but it didn't fix anything and made it worse."
