#I think Mike would play that with Davy a lot
beedlemania · 3 months
Note
When Davy’s sick or is really tired and putting up a fight to go to bed, Mike rocks him to sleep.  He’ll wrap Davy in his blanket and then sit in a rocking chair with Davy in his lap and rock back and forth until Davy falls asleep.
When Davy’s upset about something and getting cranky, Mike will place him in his lap and bounce his knee up and down until Davy calms down.
Davy needs steady movement to calm down! Sometimes when he’s just sitting on the couch or in the kitchen he’ll find himself rocking back and forth and its gotten to the point where the places Davy frequently sits are all squeaky because he’s worn down the joints on the chairs. So the guys all invest in a rocking chair and sometimes Davy will sit in it alone but often times Mike will scoop him up and rock him himself because it’s also a very comforting motion for him!!
Mike bounces Davy on his lap until he’s feeling better and then Mike will play the “fell down a great big hole” game with him and then Davy’s giggling like there’s no tomorrow! It’s the quickest way to calm him down

In Chicago, October 1983. Photo by Paul Natkin.
“‘I absolutely refused to do those [Monkees] songs for a long time,’ he says. ‘But now I know part of the reason people come is relive their early days. They expect it, and I can’t ask them to share my angst. Besides, they’re really not bad songs.’ […] ‘I had this abstract notion that a band should write and create their own music,’ he says. ‘I wanted to go on doing that, but I met a lot of resistance from the other guys, each for his own reason. The best I could get was the right to play on the albums. It took me a long time to get that straight and accept it with any amount of grace. ‘I was also starting to feel the sting of the accusations of being a plastic group,’ he says, ‘which is like criticizing a horse for not being a deer. The Monkees was a multimedia operation, a single integrated notion of a TV show, records and concerts. I understand John Lennon to have said he wouldn’t want to have tried to do what we did.’ And so Tork abandoned pop stardom but stayed in Los Angeles, dabbling in production and managing singer Judy Mayhan. ‘It didn’t work out,’ he admits. ‘I was very young, I believed that talent was its own reward and its own justification.’ […] ‘[M]y attitude up until two or three years ago was essentially, “It’s my life and I can do what I want so get off of my back." ‘At the same time I was very happy-go-lucky, breezing through life not getting too hung up over anything. That’s what got me the part [on the show]. It was kind of an interesting contrast, and now that I think about it really doesn’t jibe. I chose to profess that (The Monkees( held no attraction for me, but found that it held an attraction I wasn’t aware of.' […] ‘Mike and I call each other from time to time to tell each other jokes. I had a couple of sodas with [Micky] a few months ago, now he’s in London directing the stage version of Bugsy Malone and working in children’s television. And [Davy’s] still performing, as well as riding and breeding horses, something he’s always wanted to do.’ There has, he adds, been serious talk of a real Monkees reunion. ‘But nobody’s going to drop everything to do it, because at this point, it’s not going to rescue anyone. It wouldn’t be something we just throw together. I would demand seriously good new material, and so would Mike. It’d have to be worth our while in terms of money and audience — maybe a tour, a TV special or even a video, which of course Mike would want to have a large hand in.’ But what’s most important right now is credibility, Peter Tork’s credibility. ‘I have musical credentials,’ he says. ‘I want people to know I’m a showman. I don’t want to just remind them of the old days and send them home — I am an entertainer.’” - The Toronto Star, May 3, 1983 (x)

My thoughts on the news about The Long Walk's film adaption
I have very little faith that The Long Walk will be a good adaption but maybe I'll be wrong! I can dream, and I've been wrong before. Here are my thoughts on the casting announcements and set pictures.
Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson are the leads, according to Deadline, which means they're presumably Garraty and McVries. Jonsson seems like a good actor but an awful fit for either character, and with Hoffman (presumably Garraty) it comes down to how good an actor he is, I guess, because I can see it working if I squint but I haven't seen anything from Hoffman to suggest he can do Garraty. And I reaaaaally doubt he could do McVries. McVries has a bite to him.
Joshua Odjick is Native American so he's presumably Joe or Mike (not to say that a different character couldn't theoretically be Native American in the adaption, but it's key to Joe and Mike that none of the other Walkers understand their culture at all, and only Baker defends their parents). It's odd that either of those two would have a prominent enough role to be cast already, so I wonder if either one of their roles is beefed up, or if Mike and Scramm will be a composite character and Joe won't feature at all. Alternatively, Odjick isn't playing a Native American character (or he is but Mike and Joe are adapted out), in which case I'd guess Parker.
Roman Griffin Davis is someone I've only ever seen in Jojo Rabbit so I don't know how much range he has. I think he'd fit best as Barkovitch but I wouldn't be surprised if he's been cast as Baker or Olson.
Charlie Plummer is Stebbins. I say this almost entirely because he's a long-haired blonde. If McVries is black then book descriptions (and characterizations, let's be honest, you can't make McVries a black kid in the 70s and keep his character the same) are thrown out the door already, but google Charlie Plummer and tell me he's not been cast as Stebbins. Also, take a look at this.
Ben Wang is Asian American and there are no explicitly Asian American characters, so we've gotta guess this one purely on Vibes (Olson and Barkovitch could both be canonically Asian American, but Barkovitch is openly racist, so). From Wang's YouTube channel and some clips of Chinese Born American I found, he's a nice and playful guy (hmu Ben let's get a lemonade, also tell me who you're playing), so I'd assume Baker or Olson or Abraham because they fit that the closest, I guess? But this is unfortunately a flawed way of guessing because actors playing lunatics are sometimes normal people in real life, walking among us, going almost undetected.
Tut Nyuot's a young, sweet-looking kid. I'd assume Percy? Again, weird to cast Percy already because he doesn't even have any lines in the book, but I can't imagine Nyuout playing a character who's supposed to be the same age as Charlie Plummer's character. Maybe he's unexpectedly good at playing deranged assholes like Barkovitch? We'll see.
For Garrett Wareing I'd say Olson, looking through clips and interviews.
Jordan Gonzalez gives me no strong impression. Sorry, Jordan. Feel free to give me a stronger one over lemonade (and tell me who you're playing). If I'm held at gunpoint then I'll say Abraham.
Mark Hamill is presumably playing the Major. He's absolutely not who I would have picked because he overflows with character and I always pictured the Major as a stoic, empty Big Brother type figure, whose moments of charisma and friendliness were obviously just an act. And I guess Hamill could play that, but I think the Major will more likely have a lot more personality and vim and vigor in the movie, if Hamill was cast - he's easily the biggest draw in the cast. Not necessarily a bad way to portray the Major, but easier to mess up. We'll wait and see.
Judy Greer as presumably Mrs. Garraty will presumably be fine.
Set photos look promising, aesthetically. No half-track, though. And there's a tank. Why is there a tank?
There's a Deadline article suggesting that there are only 50 kids and the pace limit is 3mph. But there's also an article suggesting it's still 100 kids so it might be a mistake? If it's 50 kids then that's presumably done for practicality but it's a bad change, the number will either get too low too fast or it'll drop too slowly (and also no 47 and 61 which would be weird but that's not significant). 3mph isn't necessarily bad, it's more feasible, but it does mean the "first into Massachusetts in seventeen years" can't happen. Maybe they'll make New Hampshire the record instead.
i want lemonade
Reblog with your thoughts! We've got news, people, and I'm sure someone somewhere is more excited about that than I am. Let's get some discussion going on in here.

Successful! Llewyn Davis AU headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Llewyn Davis x gn! reader
Genre: fluff, slight angst
Summary: what if Llewyn became a famous musician?
Warnings: mention of murder
Word count: 1088
--------------------
It was just another slightly drunken, shitty night at the gaslight for Llewyn. Nearly empty bucket, scattered clapping that died out after a second. Except it wasn't. He didn't know it was the night that would change his life.
You were sitting in the audience. You weren't a regular at the gaslight, not at all, but tonight you were just craving a strong drink and company. The other bars in the neighborhood were too loud and bright for you that night, so you settled on the dim, depressing, "folk song playing" place.
You clapped politely for everyone, not listening, as you nursed your bitter drink and bitter mood. Until something caught your attention. A handsome (albeit a bit shabby) man with the voice of an angel, who you likened in your mind to a wet cat.
You didn't listen to the words he said. Not that you didn't try, but his voice awoke something within you. As a songwriter on a slump, you jumped the chance and started scribbling on a napkin from the table. Just whatever came to mind. Nothing would come of it anyway, but it's good for your writer's block.
When he left the stage, you downed the rest of your drink and hurried towards him. You slowed before he saw you, trying to maintain your cool.
"Davis, right?" You asked.
"Yeah," he answered and you extended your arm to him while introducing yourself. He shook it tentatively.
"Can I buy you a drink?"
Llewyn thought about it. He automated to say no, but reconsidered. He had nothing better to do, could definitely use that drink, and you looked pretty damn good. So he accepted.
After some conversation (he didn't remember anyone being that nice to him for a long time), you asked him what were his plans for the night. He told you that he was staying with a couple of friends, those Jim and Jean couple, and they happened to pass by.
Jim was nudged by Jean towards Llewyn and awkwardly told him that actually, he couldn't stay on their couch tonight. Jean made some plans. You could see Llewyn's face fall, and when Jim left he just stared downwards quietly, in embarrassment.
"Correction: I'm not staying with them tonight." He mumbled.
You took a deep breath. "You could stay with me, if you'd like. My boyfriend-" you cleared your throat, "Ex boyfriend, just moved out and took all his shit from the study with him. So I got an empty guest room." (Why were you doing this? He's a stranger for fuck's sake!)
He looked at you, surprised. A quick mental calculation showed he had no one else to turn to that night. What's the worst that could happen? You'd kill him? He'd been thinking of joining Mike anyway. So he accepted.
Suffice to say, you didn't murder him. A while has passed, and Llewyn has become your roommate, practically. Yeah, he couldn't help much with the rent, but he did make that up by cleaning a lot, which sometimes is even better.
(Also, it was the 60s, rent wasn't that fucking high. It was about less than half of what it is today.) ANYWAY
One day, while dusting around, Llewyn found a notebook of yours. He didn't mean to peek, it just fell open or something. It was your poetry and songwriting notebook. By the time you came back home he had composed 3 of the songs there and was flooding you with questions about the chorus of a fourth.
You never thought to show it to him, you were just writing to your drawer! They weren't even good, or complete! You wanted to snatch it away from his hands and tell him to forget about it, but you've never seen him so happy. So alive.
He begged you to let him take your songs to his agent. How could you say no to him? Especially to those puppy eyes.
His agent was glad to hear Llewyn has partnered up again. He heard him out, and set him up with some producer. Finally, Llewyn Davis seemed like a good enough investment. And that's how it started.
From then on, Llewyn's career blossomed. He recorded an album (didn't sell away the rights this time) and the money started flowing. He preformed in front of larger and larger audiences, and you were always at his side.
He often felt like he didn't deserve any of that. He was told, so many times, that he was absolute crap and he started to believe it. But you were there to remind him. He deserved the world. Little did you know the only thing he truly wanted to deserve was you.
You inspired each other, creating more music and flowing with good energy. It took him a while, but when he finally found the courage, finally deemed himself worthy, he took a risk.
He asked you out.
When you started laughing at him, Llewyn's heart dropped. He's fucked his life over, again, in the worst way possible. You're going to leave and everything will go down the drain.
"Of course!!!" You said. "I'd love to go out with you, I thought you'd never ask! But oh my god your face..." you giggled. He sighed in relief, clutching his chest. You came closed and hugged him. He held you very tightly, smiling at your laughter.
That night you shared your first (and long awaited) kiss. A few months later you put out an album very different than both your writing so far. It was passionate, sensual, romantic and warm. One of the songs from it became the hit of the decade, and was played at countless weddings. You thought it was a beautiful way to immortalise your love.
And your love was immortalised alright! With two rings, nonetheless. Your wedding was covered by every newspaper in the country. Llewyn didn't like the attention all that much, though.
His solution? Another, more quiet and private wedding. This one ended up being your real anniversary.
Ever since Llewyn started earning a reasonable income, he insisted on paying for everything. Doesn't matter that you both earned a significant amount from the music, and that you joined bank accounts. He wanted to thank you for all that time you took care of him. So no, lunch is on him. Finally being able to provide for you made him really happy and proud (not that you needed any help).
You were one of the only "celebrity couples" who were genuinely happy together. You truly, deeply, loved each other, and when things would become too much you would take a vacation. Just the two of you. As it always was.
Llewyn made it in life, that was all agreed upon. Yeah, he became a famous musician, but the only thing he cared about - was you.

As the guys get older, the idea of gigging for a living starts becoming more and more unrealistic, they're all older and looking to pursue something more, so in the early 1980s, Peter pursues his long time dream of becoming a teacher for special needs students, something he had kept shelved for a life of music instead. he doesn't regret the music, it brought him the best friends he'll ever have, but now it's time to get serious.
Davy also gets work at the school as a swim instructor for the younger children! he's always loved swimming and water and the ocean in general, and he loved teaching his nieces to swim, so he decides it would be a nice thing to try out! over all, he and peter were very inspired to pursue these things by having their nieces in their lives. working with children can be so rewarding.
Meanwhile, Micky goes back to mechanic work, but on a bit more of a professional level this time. he never hated his job as a mechanic in 1965, he's always loved fixing things and learning how things work, and he's got lots of experience so it only makes sense that he would go back to it. he also does a bit more electrical work on cars than he did back then, and he has so much fun with it!
mike unfortunately isn't entirely mentally stable enough, or physically healthy enough to work a traditional job, but he doesn't draw in any benefits as the guys do bring in quite a bit of money all together, so he's back to being the home maker. but he doesn't lead a sad life at all, and often times is very active in the community, advocating at the city hall for improvements within the city, both for now and for future generations. the guys join him sometimes on these ventures as they're all very passionate about their home and the futures of their nieces and other children.
they still get together and play gigs sometimes! they never abandon it as it's still very important for them, and it helps bring in a little extra money. mike probably goes out on his own sometimes to play while the others work. over all, they lead very very happy lives, and I think they're all proud of peter for his success as a teacher.

thinking about communal Monkee bath time 💗💗 you just know Mike would be gently washing Peter’s hair or something while Davy and Micky are fighting with their boat bath toys
OH MY GODDD!!!
so this is always in my brain at all moments i feel like, it’s just so cute. Mike tends to be the one who helps out with actually getting everyone clean the most (and he usually takes his own bath after he wakes up so communal monkee bathtime is more just time to be together with his best friends for him, and in a chiller way because everyone’s in one place for a specific reason)
Peter is so good for bath time. davy is not. davy can very easily turn into a demon toddler. micky helps mike out a lot playing with davy while mike gets him clean or when he’s with peter. but micky and davy together can get totally out of hand. they both just rile each other up and so they sometimes have to be separated to avoid water going absolutely everywhere or someone getting kicked in the face or nearly drowned.
they totally save up for a bigger bathtub sometime in the mid to late 70s just because they need one. it gets cramped in there and water always gets all over the floor, which is a pain to clean up and mike does not need water damage on his list of things to fix. but they all love taking baths together!!

Are the Doppels a rival gang or bounty hunters coming after the guys?
i have to admit firstly that im not a huge doppels head. I am of course psychosexually obsessed with Gwen, she occupies my every thought, i literally carry her picture in my phone case but as far as the others... i tend not to give them too much thought.
that being said!
(note: as i was writing this I realized i was calling him Davy because shortening raggedy andy to just andy is too confusing but then i was like well what would they shorten it to? and I think they would call him Dee <3)
I think Dee makes the most sense with this right? they could send other version of his model after him which would be sick and twisted. I really like the idea of them trying to appeal to him by being like, they can never understand you like we do, they're flesh, they're weak. you're just like us, come back with us." and Dee being like "oh? that's interesting." and the guys having to be like, that is the most textbook sinister and evil thing to say, do not listen to them. and Dee being like "okay got it" *thumbs up* <- they just taught him to do this
As far of the rest of them... its interesting I do like the idea of BLI developing evil version of people but its sort of important to me that the guys are not particularly important until Dee comes about, its very much like the fab four and the girl, where they want her and the guys get in the way. So I think that this is a thing that can happen but happens later. My problem is I can't really think of how they would end up being reflective of the boy's respective personalities, Babyface makes sense, he's sort of just evil Micky but Why would they make evil Mike a girl and a princess. That would be really funny.
I've thought a little more about it. I think it sort of plays into their fear and insecurities.
Shorty is worried about being mean and a tyrannical leader of their ragtag gang. I think for a long time he insists that he be in charge, despite it very obviously coming to Carlisle a lot more naturally and make them do his plans which very frequently end up in messes. He also freaks out and can't make decisions in tough spots, so Carlisle will take over when he shuts down. Eventually there is an unofficial transfer of power where Carlisle ends up calling the shots and Shorty realizes this is a lot less stressful. Anyway! He is really insecure about this. So. Babyface being the leader of the doppelgang and being this harsh commander really gets to him.
Princess Gwen -> Girl. Carlisle Wheeling -> whatttt could this POSSIBLY mean? for him? insecure? noooooo. surely not. (i don't have time to get into this. i have too much to say).
Alexei? God. I need to re-watch the card carrying red shoes. I mean I know he's like, just sort of the button joke at the end, and I don't really know what his like fanon personality is. He's uptight and serious though, everything Love is not, and I think he's kind of a coldblooded killer. I think Love is like, it doesn't bother me. I don't care. He isn't me, I'm not him, they built him to upset me. And then, he sees that Alexei is deeply important to the team, and productive, and USEFUL. and he is so insecure about being this extraneous hanger who can't help because he won't fire a blaster and this is what bothers him (this of course was BLI's ploy the whole time)

sorry this is so long — i let my inbox back up a little but also some of these are so thoughtful and i hate not responding thoughtfully!
remember to block the tag 'long post' if you hate seeing long posts :')
Tumblr media
first of all aww anon thank you so much and second of all you don't watch taskmaster? how can you stand following my blog if you don't? hahahahah especially during taskmaster season i feel so bad the blog ends up being like 70% tm even though if i could have it may way i'd never gif new content and just gif totally random old content like always hehehehehe but it's cute to me how many hog fans are in my inbox these days! i'll try and gif it more for you guys :)
and you should watch taskmaster!!! and come back and tell me what you think!! start with s1!!! it's on the masterpost linked in my bio!
Tumblr media
idk anon you'd have to ask them that but generally they would consider themselves to be irish-american; i wasn't trying to make a statement about that when i said that i think new yorkers understand a person like ed, though i think it's far to say that even diasporic communities will retain (at least) a handful of characteristics and nuances from their homelands
Tumblr media
yesssss we all love ed! i think a lot of us know him from mock the week and his bffship with dara (i have some of their travel buddy series on my non-panel show masterpost!), but of course he's also an accomplished standup!
actually, just last month in an exclusive with metro he said this:
It seems remarkable Ed hasn’t appeared yet in its 16 seasons. ‘They haven’t asked. If they had, I would,’ Ed said, with a dash of longing. ‘There’s really only one slot per series of someone answering my description,’ he mused. ‘We’re kind of the most overprescribed demographic in the industry. There’s no shortage of people who look and sound like me that are ahead of me in the queue for that slot.’ Even so, it would have been nice… Greg? Are you listening?
(ps. that article claiming 8 out of 10 cats is cancelled... 👀 don't get me wrong, i know it's been a couple years since it's been on, but afaik no cancellation was ever announced 👀)
i know a lot of people are very hung up on the fact david mitchell said he wouldn't do taskmaster — and i'm a sure there are a handful of others who either wouldn't or couldn't when they were asked (jack dee had a scheduling conflict back in the day, right? and alex still desperately wants him?) — but one thing that has been consistently reinforced for years, and especially since taskmaster moved to channel 4, is it is far and away the biggest, most in-demand opportunity amongst comedians and light entertainers (— on network television; of course, if you're standup, your own standup special on channel 4, netflix, whatever has gotta be number one, but i disgress). taskmaster is huge: everyone talks about how comedians play 100-seat rooms, go on taskmaster, and then BOOM sell out massive tours. the show can really change your life, so there is hardly a comedian who wouldn't go on if given the chance — especially someone like ed, who i had mentioned a couple months ago being of the jenny eclair variety (an opportunist; professional jealousy ain't no stranger). i know he's waiting for that damn phone to ring!
and i think he makes an incredible point that not many series are gunning for more than one straight white middle-aged man (though it's happened before, of course). actually, i was just thinking about how that role — the white, middle-aged, experienced senior comedian — is chosen; in almost every single case, it's a very famous comedian who will draw viewers and reinforce legitimacy (frank skinner, al murray, hugh dennis, bob mortimer, rhod gilbert, david baddiel, richard herring, lee mack, alan davies, dara, you get the point) or it's a comedian who alex, whether he's friends with them or not, really really likes (tim key, dave gorman, mark watson, tim vine, mike wozniak, i know they're well-known but even ardal o'hanlon and julian clary who alex personally loves). does ed fall into either of those categories? super famous ratings draw or one of alex's friends/comedy heroes? frankly...i'm not sure...and i think that may be what's keeping him mid-way down the list...
still, very cute of the journalist from this article to be gunning so hard for him to be on the show! i have to admit, i know it might seem like i'm biased because i like him, but i really really think he would be really really good on the show. imo — and it's just imo, people will disagree — the most important aspect of the best series of taskmaster is the banter. it's people who speak up, who fight, who tease, who want to win, who want laughs, who play off the audience, who make quick friends, who talk to greg, who talk to alex. ed TALKS. ed wants screen time. ed wants to fuck around. ed wants to win. so i think he would really take advantage of the format and i'd love to see it!
Tumblr media
you are allowed to say i told you so! it was amazing! thanks for reading my bullshit, i tried to take it really seriously so i could just link to it any time someone asks me if i've seen it hahahah who was your fave contestant?
Tumblr media
i could write a really long response to this because it's something i have — or could find lmfao — a lot to say about, but knowing this post is already gonna be long (hahah i hate myself) lemme try to boil my brain down
1) i covered my personal opinion of what makes the strongest series of taskmaster in my (very long) recent taskmaster nz s2 post; 2) recency bias — it's in the name! people are biased because it's recent [shrug]; 3) A LOT of people have not seen every series of taskmaster (gasp! i know...) so they won't have the full taskmaster uk canon in mind when they're making such claims; 4) there is a strong divergence between the comedy nerds who watch taskmaster for comedy and the light entertainment viewers who watch taskmaster for general pleasantness, and you gotta consider who you're talking to when you're listening to someone's opinion; 5) i think there's a very long convo you could have about the reticence of a huge faction of taskmaster fans to criticise the show/tasks/contestants/alex — which is why a lot of people like it and its community, because it's often an echo chamber of positivity — but maybe we won't have that convo now haha
^ me being concise!! wow never thought we'd see that day
Tumblr media
yes totally anon! i'll make massive gifsets of all of them when the season ends, if that works? :)
Tumblr media
wow interesting question! i know a few people who watch taskmaster on and off, and i definitely know people like you who enjoy the odd clip (why is it always bob mortimer on wilty lmfaooo), but otherwise i wouldn't say i spend too much time convincing people to watch stuff. wilty and taskmaster are pretty accessible, but a lot of panel shows are about the uk news, uk current events, have uk c-list celeb guests, etc, and i don't think people would be interested. plus, i have you guys!!! (i don't really have internet friends besides posting here and interacting with you guys :'))
not that long ago, i was at a dinner party and someone said, "have you seen that show taskmaster?" and ... do you know what it's like for me!!! ... i had to take a deep breath and say inside my head 'sarah be cool' and i finally went, "i have! fun show haha" and not start TWITCHING ... they were telling the people around us a little bit about it and getting some of the details wrong and i just sat there nodding like :) and didn't correct them bc being a know-it-all isn't cool and i didn't want to risk it 💀
it's too bad we don't have more of a light entertainment culture here, especially a comedian-driven one :(
(so random but speaking of light entertainment has anyone else been seeing michael barrymore all over tiktok? those kids say the funniest things clips are my wholeeeee fyp)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hahaha yesss we do know suzi around here!! though she's not been on many panel shows recently-ish so i probably haven't posted her in a while. if your fave taskmaster contestants are wide-eyed, smiley people who radiate optimism and go-get-em attitudes then suzi would definitely be the one!
Tumblr media
did i mention rick edwards or is this just your sly way of bringing up a sexy man? ...i see you anon😏 he has the face of someone who should have been working on that big wall in games of thrones you know the one where jon tory scum snow ended up? that's a specific compliment but just trust me it's complimentary
i'm sorry about your heartbreak :( it's like me with whites, we've all got that one show :(
Tumblr media
yesss it so is! <3
is it weird to imagine joe and mike woz in the same room or is that just me...

hey asia 💖💖💖 would you care to talk more about what was in those homoerotic videos in the show, maybe some highlights? though i would read 500k words about the show if you wrote it💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
HI JO!!! it would be my absolute PLEASURE to get into it because as we all know i’m all in for anything queer. so it seems like the show we went to was a bit different than the other shows (or at least different than that set list that was going around). i believe the song order was the same, but the video order was different and went as follows: band 6, davy, peter, zilch, mike, and then micky (i could be wrong about zilch, my memory is already failing me but i know the order of the guys is correct). a lot of the footage was just from the tv series, with a couple “rare” clips (my favourites were two of samantha juste where she looks STUNNING, and then there was one of davy and micky with their arms around each other with davy sticking his tongue out and then pretends to lick micky).
the gayest parts for me were 1. micky calling davy cute twice, really emphasizing that he was the cutest guy. 2. micky reading out a bit of lyrics from daily nightly to show how much of a poet mike was. 3. just the amount of mike period. like every video, even for the other guys, has a lot of mike in it (which i mean makes sense considering a lot of it is just show clips but still). i think the weirdest instance of this though is in micky’s video for himself. i literally turned to my twin at the end and said it feels like i made this video??? because um in micky’s video we got the moment from the pilot where they are playing cards and mike slaps his hand over micky’s and then leans in TOO close when he shoots the chandelier, we got the mrs. arcadian reveal moment when micky walks down those stairs and mike is gobsmacked, and then the video closes out with old micky and mike in concert with mike thanking the audience and then thanking micky????? (also mike’s video ends with a clip of mike and micky from the same concert as old men singing me and magdalena…….)
in conclusion i kept thinking to myself WOW micky sure liked mike huh??? like do you think they explored each other’s bodies or 👀????

Oh pls pls pls talk about the similarities between the who and the monkees
Let it be known that I'm only making this post because this anon asked me to, I gave you guys a chance to bail but one of you wanted me to talk about this so here we go (yes this has surface level ship concepts because I am not well):
=Keith + Micky: Insane guys who play the drums who are a little too much into dressing up. Micky actually sacrificed some of his drumming talent in exchange to have, you know, less mental illnesses which worked very well for him. They are goofballs who are actually a lot more intelligent/smarter than they look but they prefer to use as little brainpower as possible because “if I can have other people think for me why would I go through the trouble of thinking myself?”
=Peter (Tork) + John: Ridiculously musically gifted bass players who also know how to play 300 other musical instruments and have a knack for weird/strange/silly lyrics and music. Like they enjoy making music and take it seriously, but not THAT seriously. Are surrounded by guys who absolutely love them (even if one of them has a hard time admitting it =cough=MikeandRoger=cough=). Orgy organizers.
=Davy + Roger: Short kings who are super into looking their best and charm all the boys and girls around them because they are just that pretty/cute. Into fashion and obsessed with their hair looking good. Might not be the most musically gifted of the bunch but damn they are trying their best and it’s GOOD, goddamit. I want them to trade beauty tips.
=Mike + Pete (Townshend): =vomits feelings= OK so, have a love for music that goes beyond words? Check. Into conceptual albums? Check. Madly in love with one of their band members but have a hard time saying so? Check. Tall, lanky and weird? Check. Do I really need to go on with them, the Venn diagram for these two might as well be a fucking circle honestly. The only difference is that Pete knows how to apologise for things =shot=
And this is why I wanna write that "Who/Monkees crossover that takes place in the Monkees' TV show universe", because I cannot unsee these parallels between them.

The Ropes That Bind US -Peter Tork x female!reader PART 12
Masterlist:
Taglist: @strawberry-sunset-skies
A few days had passed since Y/N and the boys had gone to the beach, they’d spent most of the time messing around the Pad. Davy gave Y/N a few of his old t-shirts which she hitched to fit better, Peter and Mike found a couple of theirs too which she could use as a dress top. Y/N, Peter and Micky had spent a lot of time playing music together, they had convinced her to sing ‘Love Me Tender’ by Elvis which had made Peter fall for her more, her voice was velvet-like whilst singing that song and he couldn’t help but be in awe of her.
They were all currently sitting at the kitchen table, Y/N had made them all breakfast, which despite having been made from whatever scraps they had left, tasted better than anything any of them could have put together. While they were eating, an envelope fell through the letterbox at the front door, Davy had gone to pick it up, and his eyes widened when he realised it was addressed to Y/N.
“Hey, Y/N. This came for you.” He passed the letter to the girl as he sat back down and dug back into his breakfast. Mike and Peter glanced at each other nervously. Y/N thanked Davy and then slid her finger under the seal of the envelope, she pulled out a piece of paper, she read it in silence before throwing it down and fleeing the Pad via the backdoor which lead straight to the beach. The boys looked at each other in confusion, Mike who had sat to the left of Y/N picked the letter up before either Davy or Micky could stick their noses into it.
Mike scanned the letter, and sure enough, he found what he had feared he would. It was a simple and plain letter, nothing much had been said.
Dear Y/N.
Nice to know you’re alive.
It’s also nice to know you’ve found friends as you may need them.
We no longer have space for you, we moved on after a month as we knew we had no hopes of finding you. Sorry, but we don’t need you back in our lives. Stay where you are if they want to keep you, but don’t come home or write here ever again.
Mom and Dad.
Mike frowned at the half-arsed note he was holding in his hand, he glanced out the windows by the bandstand to see Y/N storm across the sand, towards a rock.
“I think, we should give her some space, let her come to us when she’s ready to talk. None of you are to touch this, okay?” Michael gave his three bandmates a stern look as he put the letter back into its envelope, placing it back on the table. “I mean it if I find out one of you three so much as even breathed near it, there’ll be trouble. Now, let’s eat and wash up. I don’t want to hear anything about the letter. Don’t even ask her, let her speak first.” Michael picked his fork up once more, eating what was left on his plate. The four Monkees finished their food and cleared up in silence, Peter went to stand on the bandstand once they were done, staring out of the window in hopes he could see Y/N, Mike looked at the bassist sympathetically and walked over, putting a hand on his shoulder.
“I’m sure she’ll be back up here soon, Shotgun. Just, don’t push her when she comes back, give her time, but just make sure she’s okay, I think she may need one of your hugs.” Michael stood with Peter a while longer. Half an hour of pacing around the Pad later, Y/N returned, and all four boys’ heads snapped to look at her. Peter walked over to her slowly, not wanting to overwhelm her or scare her off. Y/N made eye contact with Peter and began to sob, the blond ran over to her and scooped her up bridal style, holding her close to his chest as he made his way over to the sofa and sat down still cradling her.
“Shh, hey, hey. It’s okay. I’m here, I’ve got you.” Peter rocked her back and to whilst stroking her hair. The other three sat down cautiously on the other sofa, they decided that leaving Peter to it was the best idea. “Hey, Y/N, deep breaths, okay? Come on, I’ve got you, you can talk to me. You’re going to be okay.” He rubbed circles on her left hand, her breathing became less rapid and eventually after ten minutes of Peter trying, she calmed down slightly.
“I’m sorry, I’m- I’ve- they’ve moved on. They don’t want me to come home, they don’t want me to ever contact them again.” Y/N burst out into tears again, Peter tried to comfort her but this time, it was no use. The poor girl was heartbroken, none of the boys quite knew what to do.
“Hey, wanna see my impression of the inimitable James Cagney?” Micky left no room for an answer as he began to put on his little act. “Okay, you dirty rat, I’m gonna get you, you dirty rat.” Y/N did not stop crying.
“C’mon man, she just isn’t in the mood. You already used that on me in that episode where I got ripped off with my song.” Mike rolled his eyes at Micky’s terrible attempt at making the girl stop crying. Micky sat back down defeated, he thought it was funny.
Davy stepped up next, he tried a dance, which didn’t work. He sang Blue Suede Shoes in a strange voice, it didn’t help either. He sat back down and folded his arms. This left Mike. Mike stepped up from the sofa and crouched down in front of Peter and Y/N, he place a hand on Y/N’s shoulder. “Hey Y/N, look, I’m sure you don’t want to talk about it, but I’m going for a walk if you want to come, see if that helps, yeah?” Michael said softly, Y/N twisted her head and nodded. She detangled herself from Peter’s arms and followed Michael to the door, the pair grabbing their shoes before making their way out of the door.
Peter’s face fell as he realised that he had failed in making Y/N feel better, his lip trembled slightly. Micky and Davy realised this and rushed to his side, hoping to prevent the boy from crying.
“I messed up, didn’t I? How is it Mike can calm her down but I can’t? Did I say something wrong?” The tears spilt from the bassist’s eyes, Davy pulled Peter into a side hug and Micky rubbed patterns on his back.
“You’ve not done anything wrong, Peter. She’s having a hard day is all, you did great earlier, and you completely calmed her down, but I think she’s struggling right now babe, she’s just been told that her family don’t want her back. I know you’re upset, but you’ve done such a good job, okay? I’m sure that once she and Mike get back, she’ll come and talk to you again, but for now, let’s leave Mikey to play the role of a father.” Peter calmed down slightly at Micky’s words. Pete nodded and snuggled into Davy more, tucking his head in between the shorter man’s head and shoulder, Davy wrapped his arm around Peter and held him as tight as he could. Micky slotted into the gap between Peter and the arm of the sofa and leant his chin on Peter’s shoulder, Peter slid his arm behind Micky’s waist in response.
-----
Mike and Y/N walked along the beach in silence for a good ten minutes before either of them spoke up.
“I’m guessing that you got me here to talk about the letter?” Y/N twisted her head to look at the Texan who had been concentrating on the sand. Mike’s head snapped up and his face flushed slightly, that had been his intention, but not in a bad way.
“Y/N, look. I’m really sorry. I read the letter this morning before you came back, the boys were probably going to pick it up had I not, and I know what them three are like. They’re sweet but a bit much sometimes. Anyway, I decided to move it, I’m sorry for having read it, I know I made a mistake in that. I was just worried about you when you ran out.” Mike rambled, Y/N shook her head and giggled.
“Mike, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. I’m glad you read it rather than one of the others. You’re right, they are lovely, but I know Pete wouldn’t panic and I don’t even want to think about how the other two would have reacted.” Y/N smiled at him. “Thank you for keeping it away from them.”
“I mainly brought you out here because I wanted to ask you if you’d like to stay? You’re more than welcome to stay, we’d love you to stay, I mean it. All of us, not just Peter. It’s nice having another mature adult around the house, and obviously, we know that Peter loves having you around. Micky and Davy love you being here too, I’d rather not question why. Just, if Micky offers you any dodgy-looking drinks, don’t take it. He likes to experiment if we have to put it into a word. Just stay away from it for your safety. Anyway, I digress, what I mean is, we’re more than happy to keep you if you want to stay. The four of us boys are like an adopted family and I’m more than happy to adopt you into our strange little family. When we were writing that letter, I kept telling myself, that I had already adopted you into our family, but I knew it was selfish to think that when you were hopeful of going home. But no matter what Y/N, we’ll always have space for you, we want you here, okay? We really do, so, if you’d like, you’re more than welcome to stay with us.” Michael had stopped now, he had a look on his face which showed how serious he was about Y/N living with him and his boys for good.
“Wait, really? You’d be willing to let me stay?” She gasped, Mike nodded, trying to not giggle at her reaction. “I mean, of course! I’d love to stay, if you’re really willing to put up with me! I love living with you guys, I know it’s not been long since I came here, but it’s so great! Miky and Davy are hilarious, and I will avoid any dodgy drinks from Micky, thanks for that heads up! You’re really great, especially when it comes to wanting to have more mature conversations? I love the other three, but I don’t think they know the definition of mature sometimes. Anyway, then there’s Peter. He’s helped me so much, both here and when we were being held hostage. Peter’s so sweet, he’s hilarious and I love spending time with him, I really do.” Mike pretended that he didn’t see the blush that decorated her cheeks as she spoke about Peter. “But, I would love to join your strange little family, I’m sure you’d love another mature adult in there, take some stress away from you.” Y/N blabbered, which made Mike laugh.
“Where’d you get the idea that I’m the acting dad?”
“Well, from how you act around the boys, and from the stories Peter told me about you guys, for example, he told me about the time he was forced to copy a really famous painting and then got tied up, he told me about how you helped him, or when he got kidnapped when trying to help that Professor, he said it was all you in plotting to save him. You’re a right dad, Mike.” Y/N shook her head, laughing at the frown on Mike’s face.
“Perhaps I am. Anyway, it’d be great to have another mature adult, as you put it, around the house. But no, I am extremely serious about keeping you, you have no choice! You have to stay with us.” Mike laughed, Y/N pulled him into a hug, he hugged her back equally as tight as she was hugging him.
“Thank you, Michael. I really appreciate it, I’d love to stay with you boys!”
“It’s really not a problem! I haven’t actually discussed it with them because I knew they’d be all in your face begging you to stay, but I know they’re going to be happy. Actually, maybe we shouldn’t tell them and see how long it takes for them to clock onto the fact that you’re staying. It’d probably take them several months to realise because they’re idiots.”
“Michael! Those are our kids you’re talking about, be polite!” Y/N laughed, jokingly elbowing the Texan in the ribs, Mike rolled his eyes whilst laughing like a maniac.
“I’m not wrong though! I’m not taking it back!” Mike grinned.
“I can’t believe you! Those poor boys, what did they ever do to you?” Y/N pretended, and failed, to frown at Mike, but she was laughing way too much at this point.
“Hmm.” Mike scratched his chin, pretending to think about things the boys had done that made them idiotic. He could give many answers as they did tend to get themselves into a lot of trouble, but he didn’t answer.
“See! Our boys did nothing wrong.” Y/N really lost it at this point, she had to sit down because she couldn’t stop laughing and it was taking all the air out of her. Mike joined her, as his stomach began to hurt from the hysterical laughing he was doing.
“Mike?” Y/N managed to calm herself down.
“Yeah?”
“You really are the best dad to them, even if you’re mean about them behind their backs.” Y/N burst into a new fit of giggles, setting Mike back off.
“Oh screw you.” Mike managed to choke out in between giggles.
They slowly made their way back up to the Pad where Peter had fallen asleep on the sofa, he was still sandwiched between Davy and Micky who were still rubbing circles on his back and hands.
“We didn’t have the heart to wake him.” Micky explained when Mike and Y/N entered the room, Mike had given them a funny look. “He was a little upset and thought he’d done something wrong when you left the Pad with Mike.” Micky looked at Y/N. Her face fell and she crouched down in front of the sofa and stroked Peter’s cheek.
“I am so so sorry Pete. I didn’t mean to upset you. I just needed fresh air. I am sorry, and I hope I didn’t hurt you too much.” She whispered just loud enough for the three awake Monkees to hear. They all smiled to themselves, she’d felt so bad when she realised that Pete had been upset, and even though she hadn’t been at fault for it, she had been so quick to panic and apologise, even though it really wasn’t her fault. They could all see she did really care for him and it made them all happy.
“It’s okay.” Peter’s sleepy voice piped up, the added pressure on his skin had woken the man up, he pulled himself out of Davy’s side and sat upright, he gave a lazy smile to the girl.
“Hey Y/N, how’s about you tell the boys the good news?” Mike put a hand on Y/N’s shoulder and gave her a small nod.
“So, Michael and I talked when we went for a walk and he asked me if I wanted to stay here, and I accepted his generous offer. So, now you guys are stuck with me!” She grinned, this gained Peter’s attention, his eyes were still droopy but he clumsily tried to hug Y/N but fell onto her as she sat on the floor, she managed to stay sat upright and grabbed Peter to steady him as he landed on her knee.
“Yay! We’re keeping you!” Peter nuzzled into the crook of her neck and fell back asleep, Y/N shook her head affectionately at him. Mike moved forward and lifted him up so Y/N could move onto the sofa, he placed Peter back down so that his head was laid across Y/N’s knees and the rest of his body was laid across the rest of the sofa. Y/N ran her fingers through his hair and smiled down at the sleepy boy.
“Welcome permanently to the Monkees family!” Micky and Davy said at the same time, giggling as they hadn’t planned that to happen.
“I think you’re right Mike, they seem to share a single brain cell.” Y/N laughed.
“Hey!” The two youngest Monkees exclaimed.
“They really do.” Mike shook his head.
“Hey!” They said again, louder this time.
“Shh, don’t wake Peter up!” Y/N waggled her finger at the two boys who were now sat on the floor pouting at her.

the boys invite both millie and micky’s mom over for dinner and the whole time davy is just being pampered like hell. he’s so smug about it.
(im still thinking about baby davy all the time forever)
Yes yes yes. When they’re over there’s not a second that goes by without Davy having his hair brushed, his cheeks pinched, or his face wiped!
They always make sure he’s well fed, piling his plate up high without him even finishing his first helping. (“Davy, honey, would you like more potatoes? I didn’t ask you Micky, get your own!”). They even let Davy sit at the head of the table because he’s their special boy (this is Mikes designated place no one else is allowed sit so Davy’s very smug about it (Mike doesn’t actually mind)).
Davy loves performing for them (the guys got sick of his little routines the fifty millionth time he done it) and he loves having all their attention and being praised for his little songs and dances. He also loves having an excuse to dress up (thinking Cuddly Toy get up).
They also always let Davy pick what to put on tv after dinner (much to the guys’ protests). (Davy always picks something they all like though, mostly because he knows Micky will kill him if he misses the film he’s been waiting to see.)
There’s a few things Davy doesn’t like though. When the ladies are over, his bedtimes even stricter. Usually he can argue with Mike and coax an extra hour or so out of him but the ladies are firm. Davy has a very strong fear of missing out so he hates having to go to bed first (especially since Micky knows and is laughing at him for it as payback). But one of them always reads to him and tucks him in and even kisses his teddy’s head too so it’s not all bad. Peter usually chooses to go to sleep at the same time also, half because he’s sleepy and half so Davy doesn’t feel as left out or lonely.
The ladies also cramp his style at the beach when he spots a cute girl. It’s hard to chat someone up when there’s a lady pinching your cheeks and calling you her special little boy. (It also makes some girls think he’s about twelve, curse his height). But they bring him snacks to have while he plays in the sand. He builds castles that they excitedly compliment and Mickys mam always has her camera ready to take a picture of him next to his creation. (It goes into a Davy photo album or up on the fridge). (The guys all each have their own separate photo album kept by Mickys mam but, other than Mickys, Davy’s is by far the fullest).
Davy loves the extra attention they give him and definitely rubs it in Mickys the guys’ faces. He loves being pampered, especially since he doesn’t have his own mother and he misses his sisters a lot so it’s nice to have a dose of feminine touch.

“[I]f I could have a keyboard but no banjo or the other way around, I would of course keep the keyboard, just because you can play rock and roll and folk and melodies and improvise. It’s the instrument I’m most familiar with, it’s the one I trained on, and harmonically, it’s the one that falls most readily under my hands. And I think that would be, that would be it. The banjo is of course wonderful in its own way and you can do things on the banjo that no other instrument is capable of. I’d like to, I’d like to go on having what I’ve got, which is essentially both and then some, of course, guitar and French horn and harmonica and bass and all the others that I play on or play at. […] Micky’s always been a good campfire guitar player, pop-rock lead singer, he’s always been doing, he’s always done that. It’s really kind of interesting, you know, you think two actors and two musicians. But of course, Davy sang on Broadway. You don’t do that unless you’re a musician. What everybody’s really saying, of course, is two instrumentalists, I mean, two guys who could handle instruments. In fact, I expect that it may fairly be said that Micky was probably about as good a guitar player as Mike was, except Mike was a monster time keeper. In fact, Mike was our time keeper onstage. Micky played melodic drums, he played them like you would a melodic instrument. Mike kept time.” - Peter Tork, Headquarters Radio, 1989 “We weren’t a garage band; it started off as a business relationship with the four of us. On this [1987] tour, there have been a number of pleasant surprises. We’ve all grown in our craft. Micky hadn’t performed since the last Monkees tour years ago, but he’s a better performer now than he was then. David is funnier than he was, and I’m feeling easier on stage. […] We haven’t gotten closer; we’re moderately close anyway. We spend a lot of time together joking and talking about the show. We’re sociable, friendly guys, I don’t want people to think we’re not, but we’re all too different to draw closer on a regular basis.” - Peter Tork, Asbury Park Press, August 7, 1987

11. Dream contestants for the future?
I did one of those back in June, after they announced the season 14 contestants, so those are my top five names who have not yet done the show, but for this I'll pick five more. Five people I have not mentioned before on a dream contestant list but would love to see on Taskmaster:
David O'Doherty - Has the exact right attitude for the show. Can be competitive, can do ironic posturing, but can also be a very good sport about everything and just great fun in general. Can play keyboards, and if they had him on I'm sure they'd give him at least a couple of excuses to incorporate that. Can, as I recently went on about in a few posts, play sports. Might be a dark horse to win, with ability to do musical/creative tasks, and would likely be decent at physical tasks, and is quite good at intelligently thinking things through. At some point during that paragraph, I realize I've stopped writing why he should be on the show and just pretending he's already been cast and planning what my related blog posts would be.
Also, he'd be everyone's favourite. In case he is ever cast, I'm saying this now so I can have evidence that I called it in advance. He'd be the Mike Wozniak, the John Kearns, the Ardal O’Hanlon. The guy I never see talked about here, but give him two episodes and my dashboard on this site would be full of DO'D gifs and drawings, and it'll be great.
Huge Davies - His persona of someone who is sort of very odd and deadpan and lives in a slightly different world is just close enough to being a "persona of a real person" instead of a straight-up character, so I think it's something he could mostly keep up for ten episodes, and that would make for very good Taskmaster. But every once in a while he'd have to break it, and I'd really enjoy that too. Also, more keyboards.
Chris Addison - As I've said before, I want Chris Addison on Taskmaster just because I want his tactics of announcing he'd be terrible at it and falsely implying he's already been booked to be the strategy that works for getting on there. But also, he'd be great. His energy is a wonderful combination of bright and enthusiastic in style while going fucking dark in content, and that would bring the perfect atmosphere to the house and the studio. No episode could have a lull with Chris Addison in the room. Also he's brilliant, in the sense of being really intelligent. I'm predicting creative task solutions and observations that other people miss, in the imaginary future of Chris Addison on Taskmaster.
Josie Long - She's the original Taskmaster champion and should really be on there just for that. Or I think Wozniak was the very first one, but still, she was champion of the original iteration. She lights up any show she's on, just like Chris Addison, and would similarly not allow a lull in the studio. A perfectionist who I think would throw herself into the challenge of getting every single thing right on every task, which I'd enjoy watching so much.
Susan Calman - I think she's argue with everyone about everything, and I like watching that. Has been in the game long enough to not be intimidated by Greg. Would get mad about everything but also be lovely at times. All the energy you want on Taskmaster.
15. Any unpopular opinions?
Lots. Here's one: I really like Iain Stirling on there now. When I first watched season 8, I found him as annoying as everyone else did, even though the competitive ones are normally my favourites. Since then, I've heard him on the podcast, and seen him on enough other shows where he's more relaxed, so I understand what he was going for on Taskmaster and generally what the hell he was doing. And with that context, I enjoy him way more. These days when I re-watch bits of season 8, I think Iain Stirling and his weird insecurity and desperation is one of the most fun parts.
19. When did you discover the show?
Early March 2020. I specify early because I've said before that Taskmaster is what I did with the pandemic, but I actually got into it about a week before things started shutting down here, back when the corona virus was a distant and terrifying force, but not one we really think would change our lives. I happened to see a reference to a show with an interesting premise, I looked it up, found it was all on YouTube. Saw it was British, and thought, oh that's cool, I say I like British comedy because I grew up on things like Monty Python and Blackadder and Yes Minister and Goon Show and Beyond the Fringe and Alan Bennett's voice and Mr. Bean and whatever else my dad had around, and I know that The Thick of It is the greatest piece of media ever produced. But other than listening to The News Quiz or Now Show every week, it hasn't occurred to me to wonder if British comedy might have continued to exist after the turn of the millennium (aside from The Thick of It, the greatest piece of media ever produced). That's an interesting idea, British comedy but like, what they're doing now. I'll see what this is.
Started watching s01e01, though it was weird but sort of interesting and that's the guy from The Inbetweeners (oh yeah, there were a few other exceptions to my not having seen any more recent Britcom, for some reason I watched all of The Inbetweeners in my early 20s), playing basically the same guy, so okay, that's cool. I guess I'll watch the whole episode.
Then Romesh Ranganathan threw the watermelon on the floor and I was done. Fell apart laughing, needed to pause the video while I tried to get it together, immediately texted the link to my father to say I'm going to pay you back for all the British comedy you've given me with this (since then, I have paid him back many more times over with much more of this shit). That was the moment I was 100% hooked, was not interested in doing anything else for the rest of my life except watch this show. And then, by coincidence, the world ended about a week later so I happened to have a lot of free time for that.
I watched the first nine seasons very quickly, and then decided I wanted more of all those people so I looked up everything else they'd done, and now I'm here.

so jo…… are you ever going to tell us what your monkees dream was!?!? i don’t know about anyone else, but i am DYING to know!!!!
oh right ok, i feel like we’re so used to such exciting monkees dreams (looking at you @vintagecocacolainthesun) but mine was just it was cosy. And embarrassing to talk about but i will because it’s you asking <3
So i was a pianist in this like swanky cocktail bar, and i wasn’t meant to sing at all just like play this lounge music, well anyway as the place was closing i decided to stay awhile and play and sing to myself a bit. So i was playing Billy Joel’s piano man (which i listened to right before going to bed so i think that’s how the whole dream came about), and when i’m finished i get this lil applause from behind me, so i turn and there they are, the Monkees! Apparently they were the cleaning staff at this place. So one of them, icr who but i think it was Micky, says to me:
“That was really good!” and after looking at the others and getting some nods he says “we’re actually looking for a keyboardist for our band, would you be interested?”
Well and now i’m put in a difficult spot, because i realise they are the TV Monkees right, they’re a struggling band, but i know them as i know them from reality yeah, but i decide to play along and go something like
“what’s the band called, have i heard any of your songs?” or something like that. Anyway, we agree to try and jam a bit so hocus pocus we end up in the pad and i don’t remember doing that audition jam session thing I just suddenly was part of the band and i lived with them and the rest of the dream was just me chilling with my friends the Monkees and there are no big events.
Davy was the only one who seemed sceptical of me and we didn’t vibe, but Micky told me it was because Davy was mad i didn’t fancy him.
I would do yoga with Peter, who was the only one who wasn’t straight up his character, he was very intelligent and philosophical and there was something constantly mellow about him and we would end our yoga sessions just sitting cross legged, face to face, and hold hands and just smile for a while before saying “namaste” it was so incredibly peaceful.
Micky kept making edibles so i was always stoned with him and i remember we did that thing where one of us would start to tell a story and then you would hand it to the other and keep going back and forth like that and just letting it go crazy. (EDIT: i forgot to mention that we could hardly get a word out cause we were laughing so much)
Mike is the most embarrassing to talk about because we were like joined at the hips and i was so touchy with him, which is something i am in real life once i’m really comfortable with someone. So we would like be reading on the couch while leaning on each other. Or when we had band meetings and he was just talking to everyone i would interlace our fingers and play with the hair on his arm. But keep in mind he was very much the sweet dork from the show and not at all an asshole. And i was writing a lot of music in this dream, songs i really wish i could remember, and he was so supportive of my songs, and when he was sitting by himself and playing and singing i would join in and harmonise, and in my dream, we sounded great together. And i had this notion in my mind the whole dream, like i knew it was a dream, and i kept thinking that this was all me trying to show him how grateful i am for his music.
You know the weirdest part, to paraphrase Head, the brain can’t really separate the real from the vividly imagined, and i still have the touch memory of their hands in mine, which is really freaky but also sweet.
Well, there you go

Yes they do meet her! And they see her off when Micky gives her to his mom before they move into the pad. It was a tearful goodbye for Micky.
Micky quit his job shortly after their first paid gig. Definitely an impulsive choice which had mike just dumbstruck and frustrated.
I kmagine their first performance as a complete group was probably at some random party or just some random venue
Mike likes chickens!! His aunt kate had lots of chickens which he was super good friends with. He also likes cows :) davy loves horses, peter loves all animals! And I think micky would really like sheeps. He'd be like "hey we have the same hair!"
Mike doesn't worry about Mickys scars at all! He knows what they're from. Though I think he'd sit up all day worried sick about micky whilehe was at work, cuz mechanic work can be dangerous and serious injuries can occur. I think sometimes Micky would come home with new cuts and scrapes and mike would be so worried, but he was always okay and never got seriously injured! Probably crushed the shit out of his fingers sometimes. He'd always be seen with bandages on his hands and fingers.
During the main events of As we go along, mickys sister is actually in college in sanfran! Micky plans a visit and he and mike go and micky introduces the two! She likes him and thinks he's nice!
Micky likes cherry ice cream with the big chunks in it! Davy likes vanilla (he's basic 🤧) and peter really likes strawberry :) mike doesn't really like ice cream I think. But he also loves taking bites of any food his friends have, and I think he likes the cherry too :)
I don't think they do. I think peter doesn't get lots of relationships just cuz he doesn't feel the need for them, so I don't see him getting anything committed, amd davy goes in and out of relationships likes crazy but I feel like with age he mellows out and gets out of it. They're all just a bunch of old bachelors 😁
Well like three fourths of the band are neurodivergent so I definitely see them having collections. Micky collects trinkets like crazy , also bunches of coca cola stuff (as seen in his apartment) and also , I don't know if this counts but he has a scrapbook full of photos! Mostly of his friends 😁 I think peter likes to collect all the seashells he finds along the shore! Also little quartz rocks. Mike doesn't collect many things, I think. I think he really likes guitar picks. Not much of a passion, he just finds it fun to collect as many guitar picks as he can :)
Peter came from a very wealthy family. His parents were very snobbish and stuck up and had pretty backwards views on things. He has an older brother named Lewis and a baby sister named Greta. Peters parents would often compare him to his brother, who was very academically successful and just generally successful in lots of stuff. That's part of why peter is so multitalented. Despite being compared to his brother so much, peter actually had a good relationship with his brother and even though his brother was off all the time in other places, they would write and keep in touch. Peters parents will sometimes write him, but it's mostly about his brother and his successes.
I think they all share a collective hobby of music, but for others, mike likes to draw, peter loves to read and learn about spirituality and also loves crafting! Micky LOVES taking things apart and learning about them and then putting them back together, he also loves sciencey stuff :) Davys main hobby was always music and singing, but back home he loved tending to horses and horse riding:)
He moved to america with his family being under the impression that it was on a foreign exchange program in school, but really he was going to pursue music and he arrived in california sometime mid November and made a living for a whilw as a waiter.
Davy doesn't visit him very often, due to travelling costs, but he has a few times!
Mike was very home sick for a long time after leaving, even though his home life was awful, I think it was just the idea of home that he missed. I think he stopped feeling that way after a while when he started feeling much more at home in california, but I think every now and then he gets that feeling. But in the beginning it definitely caused a lot of distress.
Yes he does! In my canon, mike does go to therapy (sent there against his will by his friends after a devastating nervous breakdown that kinda left him majorly fucked up for months) and eventually he receives a diagnosis of general anxiety disorder, depression, and eventually post traumatic stress disorder, which took him a long long time to process and accept, but it definitely explained a lot of his issues. That's also how he got on his medications (His ptsd is actually cpstd, but I don't think that specific diagnosis existed at that time) he also has insomnia, but I think that's more of a medical diagnosis rather than a psychological one.
Micky never finds out, mainly cuz I don't think that diagnosis existed at that time, but he definitely had trouble in school growing up because of it
Yes! Peter is the only one of them with the official diagnosis. I think he got it when he was young (I'm pretty sure that diagnosis existed)
I think all of them are pretty indifferent to Disney. Peter likes some Disney movies though :))
Davy, peter ame micky all keep their jobs for a while after moving into the pad, but as soon as they start semi regularly start making money from their gigs, they all quit one by one. Mikes the only one who didn't have a job in the first place
Mike starts to become more attached to davy and peter over a few months, mainly after his big ,,issue with the two of them. I think Micky definitely had a big talk with him and convinced him to work things out with the two and to stop being so closed off for once. I'd say by the end of 1966 he was well acquainted with the two but it still took a while for him to get that real trust like he had in micky.
Id like to say yes mostly. Davy and his sisters were raised mostly by their grandparents, as their father was a busy man and thwie mother passed away very early in their lives. Davy had a pretty good relationship with his sisters, and a neutral good relationship with his father. His father and grandparents were pretty disapproving of his desire to do music, dancing and singing though. He was a pretty good student in school until rock n roll hit britain and he went pretty crazy over it. His family wasnt exactly wealthy, but they were pretty well off and I think they just wanted him to have a good career like a lawyer or a Dr or a good office job, but he was having none of it.
I touched on Peter's family earlier in the post. They weren't exactly a Bad family, but I feel like at the same time the reasom why peter left was that he just didn't think he could be happy staying with them. He wasn't listened to often, he wasn't taken seriously, and constant comparison with his more successful older brother had him half crazed by the time he was only a teenager. Also he didn't dtand for any of the values his family held. He's fine with his parents, just as long as hes not around them for too long at a time.
He likes the keyboard! He enjoys all the different sounds he can experiment with! Also it's seen in the show that he very much loves the harp 😁
Aayyeeee this post ran LONG but .hope these answers are good 😁
