Odessa was lost in her thoughts, staring out the window of the taxi she shared with her husband. On the way to their usual date, just like every Friday - nothing new or exciting, everything all to familiar. She was trying to dampen the voices in her head telling her she was bored, telling her to scream and run and start all over, just to escape doing the same damn thing over and over again.

She knew she shouldn’t be thinking like this - Conrad was a good man. A great man, even. He always had been, ever since they’d met all those years ago at the start of high school. She was so lucky to have someone like him, but she couldn’t help how she felt. She still loved him, she was pretty sure anyways, but the feeling that she had messed up, married him too young and wasted her youth being with just him… it had been festering like an open wound for more than a year. It was getting harder and harder to ignore.

Odessa turned her head, pulled back to her current surroundings by the sound of his voice in her ear. She blinked at him a few times, a pang of intense guilt and sadness coursing through her chest. Despite this, she forced a soft smile. For him. Because he deserved that.

“It was easy,” she said honestly. “Like sinking into a nice warm bath after a long day.”

Remembering those times, and thinking of what she was nearly positive she was going to bring up once they got home, was enough to make her cry. But she kept that back and kept the smile firmly on her face.

Conrad never regretted spending his “youth” with Odessa, despite the warnings from friends and strangers alike. He never understood the age limit people put on love. Not many people have the same example as his parents though. They were everything he wanted be, something he always bragged about. Parents married since eighteen and madly in love to this day. It was rare. They raised him to romanticize every aspect of his life, to be the gentleman, to create his own daydream… It kept his head in the clouds and his heart on his sleeve. He knew how to be sensitive and kind. But that was always the weakest thing about him. Though he never thought his wife took advantage of that aspect of him, he did feel like it held her back from being real with him. Just like her answer right now. It was calming and safe. It was one of the many things he loved about her, her way with words. He knew it wasn’t a lie because he felt the same way. But that was when they were a teenager. It’s what it was, not what it is. Still, for a second, it was refreshing to think about.

He thought surely he would smile back at her. He couldn’t. His expression was more of hurt. It wouldn’t be a surprise if tears came. He fought them back, not wanting to give that much emotion to Odessa. Not right now. It wasn’t the time. He shouldn’t have brought anything up at all.

“Is that the truth now, Dess? Because, if it’s not, I am not sure what we are doing here.” Conrad surprised himself with the anger in his voice. It’s not an emotion he felt often and it was suffocating. He needed out of this cab, out of this awkwardness. He needed to rewind to whatever moment changed them and fix it. Did he say something wrong? Did she find someone else? Did he stop putting in as much effort and didn’t realize? Was he boring? They were all the questions in his head since the day he noticed things changed between them, never daring to ask. That truth may be revealed tonight, that much Conrad knew, and he needed more time to live in his fantasy.

He tells the driver with confidence, “You can pull over here. Take the lady wherever she wants.” Conrad hands him a folded bill as he comes to a stop. He gets out. He can’t look at his wife.

ANONNN YOU DOG YOU POSSESSED ME and for the past few days I’ve been thinking and rotating this in my head… Romano adopting a broke college student au…. WORD VOMIT AHEAD HELP:

An 18 year old Elise who just lost everything as soon as she arrived in Rome, is about to give up and somehow go home, only to have her life change as a 30 something year old Romano tripped over her while taking out trash from the family restaurant he co-runs with his brother (who lately has been too busy w his personal life to truly help him!!).

After, Romano offers Elise to stay in Feliciano’s old room, and a job as a server at the restaurant. She happily agrees to stay until she gets back up on her feet.

The only thing is… Elise is not broke 😭 at this moment of time, yes she is, but she’s actually a recent runaway… she comes from a very wealthy Swiss family that only consists of her loving, yet overly protective brother. She wanted to experience life, and in order to do so, she had to run away because asking Basch didn’t work out 🤼‍♂️ many times

So now Elise’s adventure truly begins as she finally gets to live out a normal life, working her first job, making friends, and learning important life lessons from her new dad Mr. Romano (as he also learns a few new things from her as well 🫵)

Oh, and the entire time she’s in Rome, she unknowingly has to avoid being found by a team of private investigators that her Brother hired to find her (they are doing a shit job) ((having her phone stolen really saved her)).
