CPN : Why the Camera 📸 is driving us mad 🫶🏼

sometimes i forget that not everyone will get the reason why a certain number of cpfs are screaming about something. or if they do, is it because of only the present candy or is there a history behind it. this is something i find hard to gauge and i usually just post very quickly in hopes that people get it. most of the time i have a post about that “history” and link it but for this one i did share some bits but not enough to connect the dots.

that’s the purpose of this post, to hopefully connect events and make sense of the story.

Let’s start with the whole “LEICA” story and why we think it’s a gift to match ZZ’s. Back in April, there was a whole CPN about an alleged camera that was good for vlogging given by WYB to ZZ to take to Milan. It’s a Sony camera, but the point is, WYB gave ZZ a camera to take to his trip abroad in Europe. Now it’s ZZ who is allegedly giving him a camera ( Leica ) to take with him to Paris. Both are big events related to Fashion week and while they cannot be together, giving each other a proper camera is a way to to be connected. It’s an incentive for them to take photos and share with each other after. Apparently, taking photos from their iphones or their team’s camera ( take note, WYB was with someone holding a proper camera with a big ass lens too ) is not enough. They should have their own.

The reason why this made us all 👀 was we were already speculating that WYB had a new camera back in Mid Autumn Festival.

This is personally why I was screaming cause the clowning is correct. Even before we saw WYB in the streets of Paris using the actual Leica camera, turtles were already guessing he didn’t take the Moon photo with a camera phone. Based on the quality, dimensions and size of the file. All the more how accurate the kind of camera is.

This was out of the ordinary, it’s like they know something. Turns out, they do. WYB has a new camera that he is playing with ^^

ZZ has a leica camera. This should not come as a surprise knowing part of his job before is being a photographer.

( for reference some of XZ’s known camera/s. the ones used in commercials tho, not sure if it’s his. )

ZZ is Leica Q2 ( spotted as early as 2019 ) and WYB is Leica M11. It’s so freakin expensive. WYB is many things but he is not exactly a photographer. Yes, he takes photos for his personal documentation and shares it to friends. Sometimes, he shares to the public, but I don’t think an amateur will buy something like this. He may be rich and the cost of this is virtually nothing to him, but I personally feel like if you’re starting out, you wouldn’t choose this. All the more buy it as “i-need-a-camera-cause-i’m-going-to-paris” purchase.

The CPN is, ZZ, who knows his way with cameras/photography and only wants what’s best for the love of his life —- gives him this, and what better time to play with it than a trip abroad. The Moon photo is him testing it out, and maybe he already has other photos that he just doesn’t share.

This is actually on brand for this couple. Matching Gucci lion head necklace? Check. Matching Shoes? Check. Matching clothes? Check. Matching phone case? Check. Matching Apple watch? Check. So this Couple Camera is part of a pattern and makes sense 🤍

The start of Luke’s rookie year had been going great which helped a lot with nerves, even tho the season has just barely started he feels like a bit of pressure has been taken off of him, which allows him to go out more, do fun things and best of all, spend time with his girlfriend.

They have an upcoming roadie, so spending time with y/n is something that he has been doing frequently. He also recently bought a Polaroid camera, with a plan to make a scrapbook for her on there 2 year anniversary, which he will be away for.

Now, they sit on the beach in sweatpants and sweatshirts because of how cold it is in jersey, but it’s there favourite spot.

She seems very interested in the water, but the sky looks pretty so he pulls out the camera and takes a picture, earning her attention.

“What’s with all the photos lu” she chuckles and walks over to him.

“Your my muse” he smiles as she sits next to him.

“Your muse?” She says questioningly.

“My muse” he says again and pulls her closer to his chest, placing a kiss on the top of her head.

Luke had been gone for 3 days already and won’t be back for 3 more, y/n hung out with her friends a lot, but she was alone in her apartment (not including Charlie (Luke’s dog but she takes him when he’s away) and she didn’t have Luke to keep her company, she also missed his scent, his warmth, so when he texted her about 15 minutes ago telling her to go to his apartment with Charlie, because he had a surprise for them.

So she put him in her car and drove the 10 minutes down the road, luckily they don’t live in the sketchy part of Hoboken anymore, so the drive was a lot less nerve wracking.

She smiled at the door lady she knows now because of how often she’s here.

“Afternoon y/n” she says with a smile and nod at her and the dog “Charlie”.

“How are you doing dolly” she asks with a big smile.

“I’m good, how about you, how are the boys doing? Playing well?” she asks.

“They’re good, they won the last 2 games, playing again tonight. Jack and Luke are probably picking at each other but they are brothers” she laughs.

She reached his door and unlocks it, letting Charlie off the leash while spotting a blue gift bag on the counter.

The first thing she picked up out of the bag was the card, she read the cute note then placed it on the counter and looked thought the bag.

“oh my goodness Charlie what did your father do” she sighs and sits down on the stool opening the box to reveal a gold necklace with a heart pendant that’s pink.

“oh Luke” she almost felt like tearing up.

Placing down the necklace, y/n picked the next thing out of the bag which is a scrapbook titled My muse.

there is so many pictures with dates and locations, if she thought she was gonna cry then, she definitely is now.

It’s almost like he knew, because she placed the book back down and he started to face time her. “Hey Baby- why are you crying” he says with worry laced in his voice.

“You’re the sweetest person I’ve ever met Luke, but I hate that you spent money on me” she says through a mix of laugh and tears.

“5 dollars!” She hears Jack shout In the back and watched Luke roll his eyes.

“He bet $5 that you would say something about me buying you the necklace. Do you like it?”

“Like it? I love it” she cheers and hold it.

“I’m glad, oh Ma wants to make sure you are coming to thanksgiving”

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world - oh did Jack give you my gift!” She asks now sitting on the couch with Charlie in her lap.

“oh shit I forgot about that” she heard him say.

A minute later Jack appears next to Luke and hands him the box. She had no idea if Jack was the most responsible for the gift and worried if it would make it to the Florida let alone to the prudential centre before they left.

“Oh goodness what did you get me” he asks and props up his phone so he can open it.

Inside the box was a hockey puck jelly cat, some Nike socks, a cupcake she had Jack pick up earlier and a new pair of Jordans.

“Jesus Christ y/n, oh my god I love you” He exclaims.

“Hey didn’t you get me and Quinn those for our birthdays?” Jack asks.

“And you still choose to wear those fuckinh air forces- but no, those were different- you know Jack.. did you bring your A1’s with you” she jokes, his face freezes when he realizes he didn’t have them. “Don’t touch my shoes y/n- why are you in our place a-”

Why yes I would love to know more. I’ve only ever read The Wizard of Oz (and seen the sequel movie to The Wizard of Oz a long time ago) so please feel free to tell me all about them. Also who’s the pumpkin man??

SO! Jack Pumpkinhead is a scarecrow made by Ozma(at the time known as the boy Tip) and then brought to life by Tip’s guardian, Old Mombi, one of the illegal witches* of the time. Jack is then taken by Mombi and locked up, and she tells Tip(who she never wanted in the first place**) she will turn him into a marble statue and use the Pumpkinhead as a servant instead. Also Tip’s basically been a slave, and Mombi’s like ‘hm. Less annoying AND I don’t need to feed it? Bye kid.’ This leads to Tip and Jack running away, and the rest of the events in The Land of Oz

It’s also worth noting that Jack Pumpkinhead? He has a deep, severe fear of death. Like he gets anywhere near water and goes ‘dear god, will my head start rotting from the inside?’ He also calls Tip his dad for the entirety of The Marvelous Land Of Oz(second book in the series) and ends up starting a pumpkin farm after his adventures, so that he never has to worry about running out of replacement heads. He’s great. Anxiety rep at its most whimsical.

*Mombi’s brand of magic being made illegal after the laws the Scarecrow passed upon becoming king, mostly prohibiting ‘unnatural’ or harmful magics, but pretty much stopping the majority of magicians and witches not directly loyal to the crown from doing any magic. Which. Mombi herself ain’t great but BRO he essentially banned TRANSITIONING SPELLS! **she was paid by the Wizard of Oz to take the heir to the throne of Oz and hide her so she would never be found- so she turned the princess of Oz into a boy. He doesn’t give a shit about gender tho bc of being what we would in modern terms call ‘a genderqueer icon’, but this did make it pretty hard to find them.

OZMA, TIP, THE MONARCH OF OZ!!

She’s an icon. He helped a revolt led by the women of Oz. He then helped the scarecrow escape that same rebellion by making a cursed beast out of some rope, couches, palm fromnds, and a deer head. The curse is how much it hates its own body, being more confusing than a chimera. He fathered a horse. She gave another girl free rein of the palace, including Ozma’s private chambers, and that girl is Dorothy. She helped Dorothy’s entire family move to Oz to escape Debt, and might’ve also helped them commit tax fraud. She then took Dorothy’s family on a tour of the entirety of Oz, usually sharing a room with Dorothy. It was literally love at first sight(paraphrase: she loved the other girl when she first saw her). Before Dorothy moved in, they used a magic portrait/mirror set to call each other at a specific time each day. Dorothy can’t always make the calls, but Ozma is always there. Ozma gave Dorothy a magic belt so she could come and go from Oz as she wished. He’s part fairy. His cousin is part rainbow. Said cousin lowkey flirts with Dorothy. She made Dorothy a princess of Oz, with as much say in what happens as they have. They don’t give a fuck about gender but will perform gender roles like it’s a 30s television show, and I legit think that’s just for the fun of it. He made sure everyone in Oz has a minimum of one bread tree per family. He told the gnome king to fuck off and then stole his trinkets. Those trinkets were actually a neighboring kingdom’s royal family. She freaked out a little when she transitioned but then her friends went ‘it’s still you, we don’t care as long as youre you’ and it was deemed the smartest and wisest thing ever said by the speaker. She’s friends with the guy who paid Mombi to hide her.

I could go into the impact that having a canonical queer character in such an old and well known franchise had on me as a kid, and how reading Oz books helped me feel like I was stepping into a safe place, but tbh I’m kinda stuck on the amount of batshit she got herself into in the second book. Wild.

Dear Kathy, Thank you for your good wishes! As to your question: If by “learn” you mean did I change my philosophy after I got my diagnosis, no, I have to say I didn’t. I’ve been at this business of figuring out my life for a long time, and if I didn’t have a philosophy of life that included the possibility of having cancer, and even of dying of it, well, then I haven’t done a good job in crafting a working philosophy, have I? If, on the other hand, you mean did I discover how quickly and well I bounce back from radiation treatment, well, yeah, I’m a lucky guy, and I learned that to a new extent during the course of this adventure. When I got my initial diagnosis, I admit I had a good cry for a bit. Crying wasn’t part of my plan, exactly, but neither was it a black mark in my book, as far as I’m concerned. The gift was that immediately afterwards I was able to ask what the next thing was to do, and went about doing that without a lot of “why me?�� or other such attitudes I regard as diversionary. I highly recommend keeping the question “What’s the next right thing?” at the forefront of the mind as an antidote to self-pity and other distractions. It works for me. Thanks for asking. How'd it go!!!!

It was amazing!!!!!!!! Alex was so lovely and funny to meet and such a sweetheart. I was also at Mark Sheppard’s panel and he is fucking hilarious, I almost got a headache from laughing so hard. He should seriously consider standup.

I sat through Rob and DJ’s panels as well before my meet and greet with Alex, they are both just so absolutely amazing and wonderful. And the meet & greet!!!! So much fun!!!! We were all really nervous, even Alex, so the conversations kept bouncing around but it was very much enjoyable! He started it with a whole bit about being a corporate bringing us in to fire us and give us a compensatory pizza party (also a funny bonus, we got on the topic of worst jobs and one of the people seated said “corporate hell,” and Alex said “but isn’t that all corporate?” love it so much).

I ended up missing the photo ops for lunch of all things lmfaooo, but we did a group photo with the meet and greet and airdropped the photos from other phones. If I ever get the chance to meet him again at another con I’m completely committed to getting a selfie with the stupidest angle possible tho.

I wish I could relay what he thought of the gifts and the written messages note but I could only be there for the day, so it’s possible we’ll never know unless he brings it up today or at another con. But I think he seemed to like it! He seemed most interested in the books I gave him, The Westing Game and an essay collection about identity psychology called Who Am I.

I also gave him ice wine teabags because that’s one of my most favorite teas ever and it’s actually ironically a Canadian brand! And he told me that ice wine is like a Canadian dessert drink but he didn’t know about the tea. And at his panel I grew enough balls to take the mic and actually ask him something! I can’t remember the full wording just from sheer excitement and exhaustion but it was something to the effect of, “Firstly I wanna say I really appreciate how much passion you have about what you do, and it really means a lot to me as an artist that you still care, so from one artist to another thank you for caring about your work, and what are some other things that inspire you to keep caring.” Sadly I don’t remember what he’d answered, but I’m sure once the panel goes up on YT I’ll find it again and be able to absorb it in the quiet peace of my cave

(It’s honestly a little embarrassing how much of this I actually don’t fully remember, but supposedly that’s a natural experience for people going to such exciting events like concerts or cons. Too much excitement and joy it all just blots out in your brain or something).

I truly enjoyed every bit of it, but for me the absolute highlight of the day was just being given his bracelet in exchange for what I’d given him. Not even kidding, I sobbed over it in my brother’s car almost six hours later after we’d left. And towards the end of the M&G (which was sort of rushed to make time for Osric’s panel but that’s ok) I asked if I could hug him and let me tell you. Hugging is one of my favorite forms of love language ever, and I’ve been told that I give very good ones, and I’ve wanted to give him a hug (I’ve wanted everything in this day practically) for nearly six years, so it was just amazing.

I never once doubted anyone who’s said he’s a sweetheart, but really being there and seeing him and talking to him and seeing that in the flesh. . It’s something else. I also had some very lovely and interesting conversations with some stand runners, like this one guy who has a comic series about the first werewolf and we got into a convo about Superman and BTAS vs STAS and actually met the first black writer/editor/artist/everything for Superman in DC, Christopher Priest, and a wonderful old lady and her (presumably) daughter who sold exclusive-yet-expensive figurines and made their own sterling silver SPN jewelry for JIBCONs. Artists meeting artists. Loved every minute of it!!!

I also talked to this sweet attendee lady who’s been to eight conventions beforehand and got some wonderful con advice from her. And one woman in the meet and greet circle who makes kandi bracelets and gifted me one of the many SPN themed ones she’d made! Right after the M&G finished I met my brother on the balcony and he’d been talking to another attendee from Canada who told me about her meeting alex yesterday and how sweet he was with her! She hugged us both and wished us a safe travel and yeah.

Overall it was such a wonderful experience and I can really see why it’s considered its own family and such a staple of the fandom. If I could ever go to any more in my life or even have my own stand set up someday I would honestly be set for life!! I hope you and anyone else who’s never gotten to go to one before has the same chance, because it really is so life changing and amazing. I talked to maybe like, 12—20 people of the entire attending population but I still felt so…connected with everybody there.

Right! So I work at an arena that they played at in the summer (sorry to be vague). I’m an in house tour coordinator, so I help do the contracts up for the different acts and then make sure that we have staff, that everything is set for our side of the contract (green room, etc.). My booking manager knew I was a fan and (despite my never meeting the acts) the day of the show he was like “hey I have a gift come with me” and he had prearranged it so when he brought in a venue gift they’d be around (or something like that).

I was wearing a “Quentinen and Tarantined by Writtin Directino” shirt and I saw Josh reading it and he laughed and was like “can I take a photo of that? I need to show someone”. So I guess technically I didn’t make him laugh, my shirt did (but I bought it so it counts).

I didn’t freak out until I was back in the office and I just had to be like “please don’t talk to me for the rest of the day I’m just going to stare at this blank document”

Omg someone reblogged a post with your shirt saying on it and said josh would laugh at it so now we know he WOULD!!!!! Ugh that’s so awesome tho I would literally die on the spot lmao

Feeling a little better today, mental health-wise. Hoping it lasts.

Tbh it was a little bit of a relief for my therapist to acknowledge how hard of a time I’ve been having the past few months. Made me feel like I haven’t just been whining incessantly lol.

Yes, I know that’s not self-compassion. I am TERRIBLE at self-compassion, but I’m trying to learn. I feel like half of my appointments lately are just “Please stop being so mean to yourself.” I am trying, ma’am. I am not very good at it. Idk why it is so fucking hard for me. T^T

That’s not true. I do know. A lot of it is my OCD…

Also not really getting treatment specific to OCD until the past year or so. Despite having it since I was at least 12. And taking on more than my share of responsibilities from a young age…

Ngl writing this kid!Alastor fic has me at times just being like “I’m in this photo and I don’t like it!” I was talking to my bff about sneaky tropes that show up often in writing and getting read to filth over them, lmaooo.

Whaaaat? Parentification? Unhealthy obsession with perfection? A character’s belief they should be able to handle everything themselves or die trying? Said character bombing so hard/flying too close to the sun that they’re then forced to accept help from other people? Burnt out gifted kid to adult pipeline? Whaaaat? Couldn’t be me! Hahaha. Haha. Ha…

My therapist did tell me the other day tho that I was clearly putting in the work. And that she wished all of her clients were as motivated as I am to work on their mental health. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m pretty sure that means I’m winning at therapy, which is definitely a real thing… ( ¬ᴗ¬) jkjk

It’d just be super nice if putting in the work was all it took. Even though I know that every little thing helps, even if it doesn’t feel like it in the moment.

Reminds me on some of the tidbits I found most impactful from the OCD conference I attended earlier this year.

Stuff like:

Use self care to stack the deck in your favor à la Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Focus on the basics first (sleep, diet, water, etc)

Build a strong foundation so you can build on it without it falling over

Focus on how you can handle the things that are 100% in your control to increase your resilience

Set the bar low with goals - it’s only up from there and you have to start somewhere

Don’t worry about whether or not something is your OCD. You’re not in the business of figuring that out. OCD rule of thumb, if there’s urgency attached to figuring it out, it’s probably your OCD

It doesn’t matter what the content of your OCD thought is about, the response is the same. The same principles apply.

You’re building your muscles, maintain aspects of ERP and CBT so those muscles don’t atrophy. This helps prevent you from ending up in a more vulnerable/susceptible place to OCD

Be aware of when your OCD is “getting loud”

Know what you’re going to do if a lapse or relapse happens

Medication is 20-30%, skills and tools are the rest

You’re always learning what does and doesn’t work. Even if exposures don’t go the way you hope, it’s okay. It’s data. Gather experiences and data so you can learn from them. Your experiences expand you and help you grow and expand your resilience. You’re always learning what does and doesn’t work.

Think of “failure” as “failed experiments” for which you’re collecting data and can learn from

Develop strong emotional regulation to keep yourself stable

Keep an eye on where your life gives you opportunities for exposure and take advantage of those gimmes

Micro avoidances add up, so work hard to handle even little ones. Recognize when you’re triggered by something and choose to do it anyway. Sometimes it’s ocd and sometimes it isn’t

Even if what you fear happens, it doesn’t mean the OCD was correct. OCD is never correct

Self compassion is hard work. It’s not about being positive about everything but rather about being real/more realistic

Reframe perfectionism as “I’m committing to x” and it doesn’t matter if it’s perfect or the best or whatever, just focus on that - “ex. I’m committing to exercising for 5 minutes” and not thinking about if it’s perfect or not

Remember when you’re having a tough time, think “I’m working on it”

Think “yeah, and” rather than “yeah, but” because “yeah, but” often comes up when we’re negating positive things we did

Even if you’re not certain something will give you a positive outcome, still do it. Even if it doesn’t do what you hoped, you still fought back. Give yourself the opportunity to see the outcome and with that comes flexibility.

Line out three small goals you want to complete the next day - can help you make the goals at night so you don’t have to deal with motivation in the morning. Use an index card on your bedside table. If the goals feel too big or intense, make them smaller or break them down further. This is behavioral activation.

We’re going to be focusing on some behavioral activation baby steps. And I’m looking at getting my meds adjusted too. It’s nice to have a plan. Lol she def told me yesterday “This one, single baby step is all you’re going to focus on right now.”

She knows me so well! Hahaha. But for real, that’s been one of my biggest problems. Trying to take small, manageable, consistent steps and acknowledging the progress I’m making. I think it’s helping with some of the spiraling I’ve been experiencing lately.

She also sent me this list of cognitive distortions to review when I start beating myself up or spiraling. To help me build up my defusion techniques.

I’m hoping to have some appropriately baby sized progress to share with her next week haha.

But it’s also good to know there are more intensive programs out there in the event I wind up needing one.

yes. i surpringly and thankfully got some time with him to actually talk a little bit each time. he would right away grab my hands and be like “hey you” 🫠 but yea it’s stupid when you think of the amount of stuff he gets and you’re not even sure if he takes it home.. i would do it again tho cuz i really love giving gifts. people who worked at cons did say he takes everything with him and his dad, in germany, took everything in a big bag. what im not sure about is doing photo ops again cuz thats sooo rushed and i absolutely hate going on pictures so it only made me feel awful. i really hope i get to see him again one day soon.

What do you think they do with the stuff they get at cons? Like for some reason in my mind it’s all going into storage unit for them to go through at some point. I just can’t imagine that they have like of room in their home full of stuff that they get. They probably keep like the really cool good stuff with them to take and put in their house, but if you give it to them in a bag or something, it probably goes into a storage unit.

and I’m not saying that to be mean to anybody, because I obviously gave him stuff too, I think it’s just the thought of you get so much stuff. What do you do with it? There’s really only one thing you can do and it’s to put it somewhere . And you wouldn’t want it in your house because that’s so much stuff.

I need a redo on one of my photos. So if I ever meet him again, I’m definitely doing a photo op and then I don’t know about the auto. Because I don’t really have anything for him to sign. Nor do I need another autograph lol.
