Guns and... Aeons?
May Aventurine grant his luck upon everyone's Boothill pulls!!!
— C/W : spoilers?, set at the end of the 2.2 quest, boothill is boothill ft. argenti, i forgot what his lore is so take anything i say with a grain of salt, LOTS of yapping, guns and roses sneak, very self-indulgent :3
Tumblr media
Boothill never really had much faith in Aeons, much less worshipped any. He already lost it all when he gained the information, that darned rain of fire that destroyed everything, was deployed by a zealot.
Don't get him wrong, he still knew they existed. But he internally wished that maybe, if any Aeon took pity on him on that day, maybe he could have changed the outcome of it all.
Well, that was all in the past now. He'd be a rusted out piece of metal by now if he let himself wallow in bygone events.
A low sigh didn't fail to make itself known, inadvertently catching the attention of the knight just at the other end of the room. Boothill even forgot he was there due to how quiet he was.
"A rose for your thoughts, friend?" The knight inquired, sitting at the other end of the couch. He nearly jumped at the sudden question but was just as quick to regain his composure.
"Nothin' much, just thinkin' and all," he replied, only tilting his head to look at this eccentric friend of his.
Ironic that Argenti was a man quite devoted to an Aeon, especially to a long deceased one, when Boothill was borderline detesting a good amount of them.
"This dadgum pull I've been feelin'... D'you know somethin' about it, knight?"
It was something he'd been feeling for a while now but it's been getting stronger as of late. And the voices... He'll leave those out till Argenti mentions something about it.
To put it frankly, he was worried. Quite more so if nothing else.
"Does it make you feel like wanting to visit the Astral Express, friend?" Argenti inquired shortly after,
Boothill simply nodded, curious as to how this Knight of Beauty knew of such. Sensing his curiosity, said knight certainly wouldn't mind going into the further details.
In fact, he was more than enthusiastic to do so.
"As Idrila's reason to have ascended into Aeonhood, it is only natural that I give high praises to the Aeon of Creation for such magnificence— that THEIR creations have inspired my Goddess to reach THEIR most pinnacle potential."
If this was how he talked about his Aeon and this... well, other Aeon, the two would be here till his batteries run out. And he was just about done recharging to full a few hours ago.
It wasn't till a good amount of minutes into the topic that Boothill kinda got a little impatient. No offense to Argenti, of course.
"And it wasn't till recently that their wondrous consciousness graced the unive—"
"Alright, alright, I get it, knight. Don't mean to offend ya, but can ya get straight to why I felt the pull earlier?" Boothill interjected, looking straight at his companion,
He swore that the way this man shone brightened up even more.
"My apologies if I overwhelmed you, dear friend," Argenti said, giving the cowboy an apologetic bow while he was sitting.
"Simply put, this pull you feel is but the manifestations of the Aeon of Creation! Perhaps your brilliant self captured THEIR attention when you were conversing with the Trailblazer," he continued, yapping up another storm as Boothill thought to himself.
"Seriously? This ol' hunk of metal? Catchin' an Aeon's attention? Colour me fudgin' surprised."
"Ah, this is certainly a moment worth celebrating, don't you think so, friend?" Argenti's voice spoke out, bringing his attention back to the knight.
Yet, before this interstellar cyborg cowboy could even agree or otherwise, a black envelope materialized in front of him, the edges lined with red and gold designs.
One surprise after another, huh?
The knight was quick to encourage him to open it up, taking out a letter opener from who knows where. Well now he's starting to get excited.
A golden Star Rail Pass was the first to get taken out of it, its colour shining in the midst of the room's lights. Next was a neatly folded paper that was probably penned by the Astral Express' Conductor. (Somehow; I mean, look at their itty bitty hands) It reads as follows:
—————————✧—————————
Hello, future Astral Express member, Boothill! This letter has been written by Pom-pom to formally invite you to join the Trailblaze.
By all means, this doesn't mean that you should abandon your faith for any Aeon(s) you may believe in, so long as it doesn't prohibit the other members of the Astral Express from going about their days.
As you may have guessed, yes, the golden ticket provided inside is a very formal way for Pom-pom to ask you to join us, as well as a sign that the Aeon of Creation has taken a liking to you!
To compensate for any forms of distress or trouble their consciousness has caused you, the Astral Express will be willing to offer a living space, electricity, wifi, food, water(gasoline?), as well as any other necessities and wants you may have.
Though if you truly want to seek trouble with the IPC, as the Aeon commented, please leave the Astral Express out of association for any crime you may commit in the future.
If you're ready to take on this journey with the Nameless, as well as many others, please use the ticket once the thought of doing so so much as suggests the notion.
• P.S. : Unfortunately, you don't have much time to mull it over, much less get another letter in this envelope to choose who to cover for you instead.
• The Aeon of Creation awaits your presence. •
—————————✧—————————
As Argenti finished reading the letter aloud, the expectant lilt on his face that he looks at Boothill with catches his attention the most.
"I nearly forgot to mention, dear friend, as a faithful believer of this Aeon, one can assure you that THEY don't mean any harm," he spoke, a smile gracing his lips as he continued. "The blessings THEY give to ones that they favour are quite abundant, and your captivating self truly made its impact on THEM."
"Even THEY couldn't help but praise you endlessly for your courage and demeanor!" Argenti proclaimed, almost making the cowboy in front of him want to tune him out again. ... That last part was a lie.
With a reluctant sigh, finally agreeing with the knight, the golden Star Rail Pass and the envelope in hand, Boothill stood up from his seat and went over to exit his friend's ship— to which Argenti quickly stopped him, hand outstretched for him.
"Need me to lead you there, friend?" He asks, head tilting to his left as his eyes brightened up with that usual glow.
"... Yeah, sure. Ya won't stop botherin' this ol' piece of metal to give ya updates if I said otherwise," Boothill laughed at the end of his reply, taking the knight's hand and letting him lead the way.
Maybe making a decision with a third party beside him won't be so bad.

‘I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though!’
Tumblr media
Pairing : Lewis Hamilton X FemOC Candy!
Summary- in which she’s a spoilt , Primadonna girl and Lewis will do anything to get her to be his girl.
Candy didn’t know when this whole thing had started, what it was about her that had him so hooked and so obsessed with the idea of getting her to become his girl , to let him be her man.
She had done everything she could to deter him , she turned up to a high class bitchiness level that she had never even reached before . More cunty and more cruel than her friends could believe , getting great amusement out of putting one of the hottest , arrogant men down a few pegs every time she seen his pretty face .
But sometimes he got beneath her skin and wormed his over the top affections , his poetic words and endless promises of the a luxurious life he could give her.
Candy was certain that he would give her his kidney If she so much as hinted at wanting it, his promise of never ending supply of love and gifts never did fade .
Even when she thought that maybe , just maybe he had finally grown sick of chasing after her like a dog after his favourite ball.
It had been quite for the last three weeks , far more quite than she had grown accustomed to over the last year of knowing Lewis.
It unsettled her , a weird ache settling between her chest as she contemplated the fact that maybe he really had grown bored with her silly games , of her constant mean rejections and petty excuses to deny his affections time and time again.
And candy thought that she would be fine with this , that it wouldn’t bother her when things came to a still end like they always did with men’s attention waned on her after time had passed .
But instead of the indifference that she expected to feel , she just felt like a hole had been run right through her .
A frown settling over her pretty face the last few weeks when she realised that Lewis really wasn’t reaching out anymore . He usually never went a couple days or more without some type of communication .
It bad her rattled and she didn’t like it at all.
So she picked up her phone and dialled his number before she could find the reason in her brain telling her not to .
She was almost surprised when after only a couple of rings , he actually picked up. But she was too annoyed and too keyed up to even think of why he sounded so amused when he sang a pleased hello.
She cut straight through him without even wasting a single breath .
“Have you been in a terrible accident ? Have you lost your legs? Your voice? Have you sudden developed amnesia and forgotten who I am?” She bit out at him , offended by his lack of attention these past three weeks.
Despite the way that the last time she had seen him, she had told him to shove his designer gifts for her where the sun didn’t shine and to leave her the fuck alone.
To be fair , she had been on her period . Pissed off from the constant pain and moody from her suffering . And secondly , she hasn’t expected him to actually leave her the fuck alone.
This wasn’t how their game went at all. He should have been here with some pretty , sparkly things while telling her how much he had missed her.
What the hell was he playing at , ignoring her like this?
“Missed me sweetheart? I thought you didn’t want to see me? Changed your mind again?” He teased her , a giddy tone in his phone at the thought of her missing him so much.
It had been torture for him not to be Constantly on her ass and around her like he usually was , but he had just wanted to see what would happen if he really did follow through with her demands to fuck right off.
Half expecting Her to never reach out again, he was pleasantly surprised to hear her furious voice shouting at him again. It made his body relax and a smug grin settle on his face .
Candy let out a infuriated noise “no I didn’t! I was actually - I was actually just calling to let you know that I’ve moved on! adiós to you!” She shrilled.
Picking up her fluffy cat and hugging him to her chest with her free arm for comfort , the same rag doll that Lewis had gotten her for simply looking pretty this summer.
Lewis let out a chuckle , knowing her like his favourite well read book.
“Oh yeah? And who’s the lucky guys name? Anyone I know?” He played along. Putting his phone on speaker as he drove along the familiar road to her home .
Candy scowled to herself , angrily pacing her room at how amused he sounded . Her eyes traced the framed pictures on her wall, landing on one from her favourite band .
She blinked .
“No you don’t know him. His name is - his name is axl. The hottest man I’ve ever seen, we’re in love.” She blurted out wanting to make him as upset as he had made her these last few weeks of ignoring her .
Lewis was clearly grinning , she could hear his smug , beautiful grin through the damn phone .
“Cool name . Well If you’re happy…” he trailed off .
Candy was officially enraged “you don’t care?!” She almost screamed angrily. Tears filling her eyes .
His voice was careful as he replied smugly “do you want me to care sweetheart?”
She paused , sniffled then huffed loudly . “No. I don’t care if you don’t care!”
Lewis grinned to himself “okay cool. So just to be clear , you’ve moved on with some guy named Axl and you don’t care that I don’t care?” He teased.
Candy put down her poor cat and threw herself down onto the couch with a scowl on her face , wrapped herself in a blanket and tried not to cry.
“Correct.” Was all she hiccuped “well then- I’m glad we’ve cleared this up asshole. Thanks for not caring!” She made sure to get the last word in before she angrily hung up the phone .
Then she screamed into her pillow .
Only Abruptly pausing her long scream halfway when a loud knock echoed on her door.
She quickly straightened up and threw on Lewis’s hoodie that he had left last time he was here annoying her . Stomping to the door with the sourness of someone who felt like she has been dumped even though she wasn’t even in a relationship to start with.
What was her life?
She threw open the door ready to grab whatever parcel was being delivered , then froze as she came face to face with a grinning Lewis at her door.
Dressed in a beautiful dark red tracksuit set , skin glowing and hair braided back perfectly . Candy suddenly felt self conscious as she became acutely aware of her messy bed hair and mascara rimmed eyes , dressed in nothing but pj shorts and his hoodie .
“Hey baby.” He simply said after a few seconds of her gaping at him with wide eyes. Then he casually shuffled past her body, his band grazing her hip gently as he stepped into her apartment like it was his own.
It took her a few moments to gather her bearings before she was slamming the door shut and turning to him with a mean glower on her face . Heart racing in her chest at his sudden arrival.
“What are you doing here?!” She exclaimed shocked , and annoyingly relieved that he was finally there with her .
She kicked his foot , hard. Angry with him.
Lewis just smiled , leaned forward to gently run his fingers through her hair affectionately.
“Came to see you and your new boyfriend Axl.” His eyes darted to her picture of Axl rose on her wall as he said it.
Candy swallowed leaning into his touch for a moment before coming to her senses and batting his hand away.
“You just missed him.” She lied.
Lewis chuckled , amused ? knowing that she was lying and knowing that she knew that he knew that she was lying too.
“How convenient.” Was all he replied before taking a seat at the end of her couch, sitting on the arm of it . He looked up at her with his smile softening into something more warm and lovely .
“I’ve missed you. You look as beautiful as ever.” He told her softly , taking a hold of the hem of her shorts to tug her closer between his legs .
She let him. Cheeks flushing lightly as she gazed into his warm eyes , feeling her body turned to mush.
“Really?” She wondered then looked around him with a slight frown “where’s my gift?”
Lewis let out a loud laugh at how spoilt she was, though he supposed it was partly his fault. He never did arrive without a gift for his sweetheart after all.
“Don’t I get a hug first? I know you missed me.” He teased her, trailing his hand up to her waist and gently rubbing her soft skin beneath his hoodie .
She let her arms rest over his broad shoulders , pouting down at him.
“You said you didn’t care that I moved on.” She mumbled annoyed with him still.
He chuckled , hugging her to him . Resting his chin on her stomach as he peered up at her beneath his dark lashes .
“What? Moved on with Axl rose your imaginary boyfriend? Don’t be silly baby. You know I’m the only one for you.” He told her softly , smiling up at her with affection written all over his beautiful face.
Candy frowned down at him , playing with the diamond stud in his ear .
“I don’t like you.” She reminded him just out of habit by now.
Instead of getting upset , he just giggled at her stubbornness to Admit what he already knew. “Then why were you upset that I didn’t care?”
“I wasn’t upset and I don’t care that you don’t care Lewis. I just think it was mean to abandon me like that for three weeks . I thought you were dead.” She dramatically snapped .
She had watched him at his races . She knew that he was perfectly fine. Which only upset her more because then what other excuse did he have for ignoring her like that then?
Death was the only reasonable excuse to do that!
He rose a brow at her , lifting her hoody to look at the sparkly diamond H belly stud that she had on. The same one he had given her last time he saw her.
He bent down his head and gently kissed it, smirking to himself as he felt her whole body shiver against his lips.
“Don’t like me ignoring you? Now you know how I feel. Isn’t nice is it?” He mumbled against another soft kiss on her belly . Only pulling away when she slapped his forehead not so gently .
He looked up to see her glaring down at him, furious.
“I do not ignore you like that!” She denied.
He rolled his eyes “you told me to go fuck myself the last time I was here. Then refused to pick up my calls the rest of the week.” He reminded her.
She just scoffed “I was upset! I was bleeding from my vagina Lewis! Not everything is about you! I wasn’t in the mood for your games!” She argued.
He paused, then tilted his head with a slight frown. “You could have just told me that. I would have gotten you a heating pad and some chocolate. You didn’t have to be so mean baby.” He said.
She just sniffled at him , gently rubbing at the back of his neck with her fingers absentmindedly. “I’m not mean.”
The look he gave her was full of disbelief “no? Then why aren’t you my girl then?” His question had her stumped.
She spluttered for answer , blinking rapidly . “Well- cause I’m not impressed.” She answered him shortly.
He barked out a laugh “no?” He grinned looking up at her with eyes full of amusement .
“The jewellery and the clothes weren’t enough? The cat , the paid of loans and your car? Still not impressive enough?” He listed off all of the things he had gotten her this past year . Growing more amused by the second as he watched her stubbornly shake her head at him.
“Nope.” She muttered arrogantly .
“Then what would it take for you to be my girl?” He wanted to know.
She searched her mind for something “a mansion like yours. With a king size bed. And - and your Ferrari.” She said the most ridiculous thing she could think of. Something he couldn’t give her.
His eyes searched her face for a long moment before simply humming . “Will you stay at mine tonight with me? Roscoe misses you.” He said already getting to his feet .
He grabbed her phone and keys from the table , not even waiting for an answer before heading to her door. Knowing she would follow him.
She did .
“What will we do? I don’t want to bored all night.” She huffed as she followed him out.
Letting him lock her door, absentmindedly grabbing his hand as he lead her down her apartment stairs . Missing the way he smiled down at her , shaking his head fondly .
They were almost to the car when he finally responded , making her skin flush red and knees weaken as he bluntly told her
“I’m going to fuck you so hard till you know no other name than mine . Then I’m going to eat you out for however long it takes for you to realise that there’s no one better for you than me baby.” He kissed the side of her head before pushing her down into the passenger seat casually .
Candy just blinked up at him in shock , face red and belly fluttering . “Oh. Okay.” She weakly spluttered in response .
Lewis just smirked and flicked her chin lightly before closing the door shut, jogging around to the drivers side quickly .
And Lewis never broke his promises. And by the time the stars were twinkling bright , his name was all she could scream .
When candy woke up the next morning , it was to the sound of Lewis ‘awwing’ loudly at something .
She grumbled to herself as she pushed herself out of his bed , blushing at the fact that she was wearing nothing but his shirt .
Lewis having put It on her while she exhaustedly let him look after her and tuck her into his chest , kissing her head gently as she drifted off to sleep.
Yawning loudly , she stomped her way down the fancy stairs of his home . Grumpy from being woken up .
“What the hell are you awwing at you weirdo?” She called out to Lewis the moment she caught sight of him in the hallway.
He looked over at her with a bright smile on his face , beckoning her over for a hug. She immediately fell into his chest , still tired as she lazily hugged him back.
“Roscoe loves kitties . It’s so cute.” Lewis casually told her , stroking her hair away from her face as she tried to wake up properly.
“Huh?” She let out confusedly wondering why he looked so smug and amused . Then she turned her head and froze as she saw roscoe cuddled up with mr snuggles , her cat .
She blinked at her cat in Lewis’s home , with his dog. Wondering if she was still dreaming .
Then She glanced over to the front room and saw her Tiffany lamps and her cushions on his couch , glancing down at the carpet to see her heart shaped rug there too.
She gasped loudly in shock “what the fuck?!” She immediately turned back to Lewis with wide eyes, gaping at him.
“Why are my things In your house? Why is my kitty here? What the fuck?!” She shouted in absolute disbelief .
Lewis just smiled at her serenely , clearing pleased with himself . He leaned down to stroke her cat when he walked over to him purring , leaving Candy to just blink at him in disbelief .
“You said that the only way you would be with me is if you had a mansion with a king side bed and well…” he pointedly looked around his mansion and the king sized bed she had gotten out of . Grinning proudly at her as he did so.
“What’s mine is now yours baby. And also…” he dug his hand into his hoodie pocket and pulled out some keys .
He opened up her placed and gently placed them in her hand. “There’s my keys to my Ferrari that you wanted as well.” He said.
Candy felt like she was going to pass out .
Gaping at this insane man that was more than happy to give her everything he had. She felt her heart swell in her chest, briefly looking down at the Ferrari keys in her hand and all her things in his home .
She spluttered “but-what? I can’t just live with you! That’s insane!” Her hands were trembling
around the keys at his casual devotion to giving her whatever the hell she wanted .
Lewis just shrugged casually , walking over to her slowly like she was a spooked animal. And maybe she was , she sure felt like a deer in headlights then.
What the fuck was her life?
“Why not? I’m in love with you and I’m pretty sure you’re in love with me. I want you by my side , always. And what better way than living with you?” He simply explained like it was that easy. And maybe for him it was .
Candy just looked at him like he had grown a third head.
“That’s pretty arrogant to assume that I love you Lewis!” She snapped at him stubbornly . Blushing red. “What if I hated your guts? This would be real awkward for you!”
Lewis just laughed at her attitude “oh yeah? So the ‘please Lewis! Fuck me harder Lewis! Just like that baby! all that was because you hated me was it?” He smugly copied her high pitched voice screaming last night .
Making her quickly slap his bicep with a embarrassed gasp, face feeling like it was on fire.
“Lewis!” She shrieked while he just giggled harder
“shut up! I do not sound like that! How dare you?!”
Lewis rolled his eyes at her fondly “how dare me? How dare you! Why are you being so god damn stubborn? Why can’t you just admit that you love me? We could be married by now if you just stopped being so mean!” He exclaimed right back at her in exasperation.
But never angry, no, not with her. He loved her
Too damn much after all.
“I’m not mean! Fuck you!” She yelled back.
“You already did and will again after you just admit that I’m right!”
“Oh you’d like that wouldn’t you? Mr always right!” She sarcastically shouted back.
Lewis snorted a laugh “so you don’t want me then? Don’t want to live with me and drive my Ferrari?” He challenged her.
She paused , then fidgeted with the diamond tennis bracelet that Lewis had gotten for her , on her wrist .
“I didn’t - I didn’t say that-“
He grinned smugly “admit it then. Go on.” He gave her a nudge , utterly beaming by now .
Candy huffed like a child and rolled her eyes at him . “I just - are you serious?” She eyed him like he was playing some nasty , elaborate joke on her . Waiting for him to shout ‘gotchu girl!’.
Lewis squinted his eyes at her in disbelief “are you serious?” He returned the question to her in slight annoyance at her doubting him after everything .
“I’m obviously very serious baby , my god! Your cat is in my house and I just have you my Ferrari! What a weird, expensive joke that would be!” He exclaimed.
What a strange woman he was in love with he thought , so suspicious of him , Jesus!
Candy sniffed , clutched her diamond necklace on her neck (another gift from him) and slowly nodded her head.
“right . Well..” she uncomfortably cleared her throat , not one for being sappy or emotional over a man but damn , her heart was about to burst right now.
“Thanks babe.” She settled on lamely instead.
Lewis looked at her grimacing face then burst out into hysterical giggles . “You’re so welcome sweetheart. Come ‘ere” he tugged her over to him by her folded arm, grinning into her hair as he hugged her tightly to his chest .
His stubborn , spoilt girl.
Candy hugged him back without any hesitation, squeezing his waist tight . Sighing in content , she planted a gentle kiss on his chest .
“Lew?” She spoke up after another minute of just standing there cuddling in the front room while their pets stared at them like they were watching a entertaining show .
His smile was evident in his voice “yeah baby?”
She sighed in defeat , too happy to care about her pride anymore . “You’re so right by the way.” She admitted to him quietly .
He hummed smugly “yeah?”
She nodded with a huff “yeah.” She pulled away slightly to look into his eyes , he was so fucking beautiful it made her want to cry.
All mine. She almost growled , kissing his mouth just because she could . Lewis sighed against her lips happily
“Say it baby. Come on..” he whispered against her mouth , lips curling into a grin when she just sighed again.
“I love you. So much. And I missed you so don’t do that shit to me again. I’m not one to be ignored.” She told him sternly , pointing a nail into his chest.
He giggled and kissed her again “noted. Do not ignore my girl again.” He murmured then “and I love you too. You stubborn, mean girl.”
“Babe?”
“Yeah?”
“Can I have your Mercedes too? Just for Wednesdays?”
A pause , then “why Wednesday’s?” He asked amused.
She shrugged as she let him pull her down onto the couch to continue making out , side eyeing her blanket on his couch.
When the hell did he even do all this? She wondered? Still In disbelief that he had all her things moved into his home (their home now?) while she was asleep.
Was a sneaky little guy.
“Just to shake things up a little.” She replied simply.
Lewis didn’t even hesitate to agree.
Maybe she’d buy him a vegan waffle for dinner to repay him, she thought with a grin as she accepted his Mercedes car keys too.
She needed some new keychains , she thought mindlessly . Imagining the looks on her friends face when she rolled up in his Ferrari for their weekend brunches .
If this was a game , she had totally won. She thought to herself contently as she felt Lewis trail kisses down her neck.
A new mansion, two new cars and Lewis fucking hamilton as her man.
Oh yeah, she had totally won in life .

MY TREASURE
My works are 14+ ONLY. If you’re under 14 DO NOT read/interact with me or my works
Pairing: Pirate!Yeosang x Princess!fem reader
Word count: 8,179
Tumblr media
Yeosang strode along the quarterdeck, gazing at the horizon before him. The many pieces of jewelry he wore glimmered in the golden sun.
Unlike other pirates, Yeosang took pride in his appearance. He was known for being a princely pirate with breathtaking features and exquisite style. He carried himself in such a way that made others envy him, pirates and royals alike—with elegance.
The captain was embellished with jewels from around the world, each one plundered from a different town or city, and he's about to collect the most precious jewel of all—you.
You were a princess and the daughter of a wealthy king who ruled over a small bayside kingdom. Recently, your father has been begging for you to find a man and settle down, but you could care less. Truthfully, you weren't interested in dating let alone getting married. You'd rather not waste your time on men, you'd much rather go out and take a stroll around town, go to the docks and dip your toes in the water. Anything but waste time getting to know a man who just wants you for the title that comes with marrying a princess.
"Y/n, I've planned a formal social gathering for this weekend. I think it would be a good opportunity for you to mingle with some of the men in town." Your dad mentioned at breakfast.
"Dad, I've already told you, I'm not interested. These men are just out to get money. They want to be a prince and they want the money that comes with it. That's the bottom line."
"Sweetheart, I would never let that happen. Besides, this is a formal event. Only eligible men will be here."
"Eligible or not, they're all out for something. I won't be with a man who doesn't care about me."
"That's why I'm hosting this ball. So you can mingle and see if any man sparks your interest. It's important that you start looking for a man to settle down with."
"Again, I'm not interested."
"You don't have a choice, Y/n. This ball is happening wether you like it or not."
"Unbelievable. Looks like my choices are being made for me." You stood up from the table. "I've lost my appetite."
Needing to get away from everything and cool down, you slipped out of the castle headed straight for the docks to enjoy your last moments of freedom as well as the warm water and sunrise.
Dread washed over you like ocean waves as you thought about being forced to attend this stupid social gathering.
You'd always dreamt of finding the perfect prince who would come in and sweep you off your feet. One that didn't care about your money and would take you on wonderful and amazing adventures, allowing you to see the world outside of the kingdom that you'd been confined to your whole life.
It was the night of the ball and you found yourself stuck in a fancy dress, standing amongst a large crowd of people you had no interest being around. You had slowly been migrating towards the corner of the room and away from the large mass of people, not wanting to be in the middle of all the commotion. Plus, if you kept your distance, there'd be less of a chance someone would approach you.
The last thing you wanted to do was get stuck in a conversation with some hoity-toity rich boy that you had nothing in common with.
All that immediately went down the drain when you spotted a blonde-haired man striding through the crowd. His long hair was gently swept away from his face, the lengthy strands at the back curling under his ear which donned a ruby earring. You'd never seen this man around before and wondered if he could be from a town far away. After all, he was nothing like the guys around here.
He wore a long coat embellished with silver designs swirling around the cuffs and the opening of the jacket. Underneath the coat was a white dress shirt paired with high waisted slacks and Chelsea boots.
You had to close your mouth, not realizing it was hanging open. The way he carried himself captured your attention and made him stand out from the crowd. You could practically see the confidence radiating off him and it pulled you in instantly.
Could it be? Is he the prince you've dreamt of all these years?
"Wow."
You managed to tear your eyes away from him for a moment, feeling the need to cool off and calm yourself.
Alright, Y/n. Get a hold of yourself. Looks aren't everything. You need to talk with him first.
Once you gathered your nerves you planned to approach him and strike up a conversation.
It took a few moments as well as some self assurance, but you finally felt like you could approach the insanely handsome blonde. From your spot near the edge of the room, you began searching for the Prince Charming that caught your eye.
Just then, the clicking of boots approaching grabbed your attention. Upon turning your head, you were met with the stunning man you were searching for. You gave yourself a brief, last minute pep talk just before he came to a stop.
"Y/n, I presume?"
His voice. It was deep, yet gentle, soft, and almost melodic.
"That's correct." You managed to speak.
He held his hand out, his ring-clad fingers glimmering under the chandelier light. You placed your hand in his, allowing him to bring it up to his lips and place a gentle kiss to the back of it. Your heart rate sped up as a result. He glanced up at you through his lashes, holding your hand near his lips for a few moments before letting your hand down.
His facial features were otherworldly and resembled those of a statue. He was quite literally a work of art.
"And what might your name be?" You inquired.
"Kang Yeosang."
Even his name was enchanting.
"I came to ask you if you'd like to share a dance with me."
If it were any other man in the room, you would have said no, but this man intrigued you.
"Of course." You offered him your hand, allowing him to pull you out to the dance floor.
You were unable to take your eyes off him as he took your other hand and began swaying to the music.
He was light on his feet and knew how to dance well. Now that he was up close, you were able to take in all of his incredible facial features. From his large, beautifully shaped eyes, to his soft nose, and plush, pink lips.
"I'm curious."
"About what?" You questioned.
"You."
"Ask me anything."
"What do you think about the kingdom? How do you like living here?"
"It's nice, I suppose. The people are wonderful, but I feel a little confined sometimes."
"Confined?"
"Yes. I want to go out and see things, go on adventures and discover new places and make new memories."
"You don't travel?" He asked.
"Well, I've never seen anything past the bay."
Yeosang seemed surprised.
"What about you?" You flipped the question on him in hopes of turning the attention away from you and your lack of exploring.
"Me? Oh, I've been so many places, I've lost count."
"You have?"
He nodded. "I've been to many towns of various sizes. Some of them small with the most wonderful secret places and some big with many exciting things to offer."
"Wow. How can you travel so much? Don't you have duties?"
"I manage." He shrugged, one of his hands letting go of yours to wrap around your waist.
You knew he was only dancing, but the gesture had your cheeks feeling warm.
"Is there anywhere you'd like to see? A place you want to travel to one day?"
"Well, there is one place."
Yeosang's head tilted slightly as he waited for you to continue.
"I don't have the photograph with me at the moment, but it's a beautiful beach with sparkling sands and towering palm trees. And there's a long outcrop of rocks that are perfect for walking along. They're clustered so close together you could sit on one and dip your toes in the water."
"How do you know about this place?"
"My mom visited the beach long before I was born. From the way she used to talk about it, it's a beautiful place."
"Used to?" Yeosang inquired softly.
You gave a weak smile. "She passed six years ago."
"I'm very sorry to hear that."
"It's alright. I've had plenty of time to grieve and move on."
"You said you had a photograph of the island?" He questioned.
"I do."
"I might recognize it."
"I can go get it if you'd like."
"Alright." He nodded. "I'll take a look at it."
"Follow me."
You took Yeosang up a set of stairs that led to the hallway where your room was located.
"One moment."
He waited out in the hallway while you stepped into your room, retrieving the photo from a drawer in your nightstand. You liked to keep it close to you, which is why it stayed by your bed.
"Here." You handed the old photograph to Yeosang, watching as he examined it.
"I recognize this beach." He said after a moment.
"You do?"
He gave a small nod, handing the photo back to you.
"Have you been there?" You asked him after putting the photo back in its place.
"Once, but it's been years ago. I remember it well. It's hard to forget a place as breathtakingly beautiful as that."
"I have so many questions."
"We can get back downstairs and you can ask any questions you have."
Your eyes gleamed with elation as Yeosang took your hand and led you back down to the party. Once back in the ballroom, the both of you joined hands for a dance.
"You said you had a lot of questions. Ask them. I'll l answer them all."
"When you went to the island, how long did you stay?"
"Not very long. I just walked around a bit."
"But you remember it well."
"I do."
"Do you remember a lot of the places you visit?"
"Every single one." He responded.
You and Yeosang talked for the rest of the night. You'd ask questions about his endless traveling and he would happily answer, telling you everything he could about his adventurous lifestyle. You didn't know how he was able to travel so much. You assumed maybe his parents sailed with him. Either that or they just allowed him to do whatever he wanted to do. You wish your life could be like that.
You sat in your room that night, brushing your hair and gazing into the dresser mirror as your mind drifted back to Yeosang, reliving the wonderful memories from the night.
He was delightful and exceeded all of your expectations. Handsome, kind, and has a taste for adventure. He was perfect—almost too perfect. He checked almost every box.
At this point, you truly believed he was the prince you'd always dreamed of and waited for. He swept you off your feet right from the start and not once did he talk about money or attention.
"I believe your hair is thoroughly brushed."
Your father's voice grabbed your attention, causing you to abruptly set your brush down on the dresser. Glancing through the mirror, you saw your dad leaned against the doorway of your room.
"How long have you been there?"
"Long enough to see you spacing out." He chuckled. "I saw you spending time with that Yeosang fellow a lot tonight."
"How do you know his name?"
"He approached me when he arrived at the ball and asked where you were."
"He did?"
Your dad nodded.
"So, did you have a good time?"
"I did."
"See? It wasn't so bad, was it?"
"I suppose not."
"Did you meet anyone else?" He asked.
"No." You responded. "Just Yeosang. Truthfully, he's the first and only guy to capture my attention."
"Well, that's good to hear."
"I'd love to see him again."
"We'll see. In the meantime, you should go to bed soon. It's been a long day." Your dad told you before leaving the room.
You unintentionally hummed to yourself as you got ready the following morning, your mind still clouded with magical memories from the ball. As you made your way downstairs, you wondered what Yeosang was doing and if it was possible for the two of you to see each other again.
"Morning." You smiled as you entered the dining room.
"Morning, Y/n."
You went to sit down at the table, pausing when you spotted Yeosang sitting across from your father, your heart hammering against your rib cage.
"The two of you seemed to have a nice time last night, so I thought I'd invite Yeosang over for breakfast."
"Oh." You sat down in your chair, trying to hold back a smile. "Alright."
Breakfast was served shortly and the three of you ate in silence until Yeosang spoke up.
"This food is delicious." He complimented.
"Thank you. We've got a wonderful cook."
"So, Yeosang, how did you hear about the ball?" Your dad asked.
"I caught wind of it back in my hometown. I just happened to hear townspeople talking about a ball for men to meet with Princess Y/n and I was interested in meeting her. She's very beautiful."
You glanced down at your lap shyly.
"Yes, she is." Your dad smiled.
As you finished up breakfast, you and Yeosang would steal glances at each other. At some point, he looked away from you, straightening his posture as he spoke up.
"Your highness, I have some business of sorts to discuss with you."
"Oh, you do?" You father raised a brow.
"Yes."
"I'll just let the two of you speak in private." You excused yourself and started to get up.
"No, you can stay. I'm sure whatever Yeosang has to say can be said with you here." He then turned to your guest. "Go on, Yeosang."
"Very well." He straightened his posture before continuing. "I would like to take Y/n with me, with your permission, of course."
Your brows raised after hearing this, surprised by his sudden offer.
"You would?" Your dad asked.
"I would." Yeosang confirmed.
Did he really just say he wanted to take you with him? This has to be a dream.
Your dad turned to look at you, then back at Yeosang.
"Well, I'm not sure I can give you an answer."
"What?" You spoke up.
"This is very sudden."
"Sudden?" You questioned. "You're the one who was so adamant about having that ball last night despite my wishes. You're the one who told me I should start thinking about settling down and now that there's a decent guy that I actually like, you're going to start caring about me and saying it's too sudden?"
"I'd be willing to pay." Yeosang spoke up.
That caught your dad's attention.
"Pay?" He parroted.
"Yes, your majesty." Yeosang reached into his satchel and pulled out a small sack, dropping it onto the table, the sounds of coins clattering inside of it.
Your father's eyes were the size of saucers as he stared at the coin bag, a pensive look on his face as he seemed to weigh his options.
You'd much rather go with the adventurous Prince Yeosang than be stuck inside the castle and confined to the bayside island you've called home for so many years. You were ready to get away from this suffocating life of yours and have some fun for once.
"Very well." Your father finally answered.
You should have been offended at how fast your father caved once money was being offered, but you weren't. You were more so excited to leave.
This was it. You were finally going to live the life of your dreams with your real life Prince Charming.
"So, we have a deal?" Yeosang asked.
"We do."
With that, Yeosang slid the bag of coins across the table to your father.
"When will you be leaving?"
"Today."
You shared at look with your dad upon hearing Yeosang's answer.
"You'd better get to packing." He told you.
To that, you stood from your seat and scurried up the stairs to your room, packing suitcase after suitcase as fast as you possibly could. It took less than ten minutes for you to get everything ready. You'd packed mainly clothes, but brought along some toiletries for the trip and a few meaningful items. Before leaving your room, you grabbed the beloved beach photo that belonged to your mother, slipping it into the top of one of your suitcases.
"Ready?" Yeosang asked once you arrived at the top of the steps with your things.
You gave a nod, prompting him to ascend the stairs and grab two of your four suitcases.
Your father seemed elated as you left, giving you a bright smile as you walked out of the castle for the last time.
"Let's get to the ship." Yeosang told you.
He has his own ship? That must be how he travels.
You giddily followed Yeosang through town, clutching your suitcases, excitedly, ready to start this new chapter of your life. He approached the boardwalk, coming to a stop at a massive vessel docked in the water.
"Here we are." He smiled.
"This is your ship?"
"Mhm. The one and only."
"This looks like a pirate ship."
"Uh... yeah." He nodded. "Shall we?"
You hesitantly took hold of his hand as he lead you up the gangplank and onto the ship. Once on board, you took a moment to look around, seeing men rushing around on deck, most of them dressed in dingy clothes. You found it odd that the crew on the ship weren't dressed as nicely as Yeosang. Even if they were employees, they ought to be dressed nicer. The only reason they wouldn't be dressed in better clothes is if they were... You almost chuckled aloud at the thought. There's just no way... unless?
It was then that realization hit you.
"You're a pirate?" You gaped, jerking your hand away.
"Yes." He answered so casually it made you sick.
You began pacing frantically back and forth, trying to make sense of everything and wondering how you could be so stupid.
"You lied to me!" You pointed at him accusingly. "I thought you were a prince!"
"Technically, I didn't lie to you. You thought of that on your own. I never actually told you who I was. But thank you for the compliment."
"That's it, I'm leaving." You huffed, turning around to find that the gangplank had been raised and the ship was departing from the dock.
"You're trapping me here?"
"You're not trapped here. You live here now. I said I wanted to take you with me."
You watched as men hauled your suitcases across the deck.
"Hey, be careful with those!" You shouted.
"Just put those in my quarters." Yeosang ordered.
"Yes, captain." The men chorused.
"What am I supposed to do now?"
"Enjoy yourself. Explore." He answered simply.
"How am I supposed to do that? I don't know where anything is."
"How about a tour, then?" Yeosang gestured for you to follow him.
You didn't get a chance to answer as he walked ahead, moving down into the ship. You trailed behind him, looking around at the different hallways. He moved down the one to the right first.
"These are the crew's sleeping quarters here." He told you. "Ten rooms for ten crew members."
He turned around, moving past you and going to the next hallway which led to a rather large room.
"This is the galley where we all eat. The kitchen is right over there." He pointed. "We have three meals a day, though I'm not opposed to snacking throughout the day."
Yeosang's attitude was so amicable.
You were honestly kind of bothered by how nonchalant he was being, acting as if nothing was wrong. Not only that, but his polite demeanor was raising your suspicions.
He has to have some sort of angle. You thought. He wants something.
"I know what you're thinking, but the food here is actually good. It might not be as fancy as what you're used to having, but it's good."
"Food is food. I don't care if it's fancy or not."
"Ah. Good." Yeosang smiled. "Come this way."
He showed you the cargo hold, the sick bay, the forecastle deck where he steered the ship, and the quarterdeck.
"If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Whatever you want, it's yours." He told you.
He's being awfully nice.
He made his way to the main deck, stepping towards a set of doors. "And finally, this is our room."
"Our room?" You repeated. "Listen, I don't know what you think—"
Yeosang opened up the doors to his sleeping quarters, revealing two separate beds.
"Oh."
"You didn't think I was going to make you sleep in the same bed as me, did you?" He asked.
"No, of course not." You lied.
Yeosang could see right through you, but chose not to say anything.
"As you can see. Your bags are right by your bed. You're free to make yourself at home. I've got captain duties to tend to." He started to walk away, pausing momentarily. "Once again, if you need anything, just ask."
You simply nodded and stepped into the captain's quarters which you now shared with Yeosang. If you were going to be stuck on this ship, you might as well make yourself comfortable and get familiar with the place.
A large stained wood desk sat near a panel of windows facing the ocean at the backside of the ship. On the desk was a globe, books, maps, and mapping tools. A bookshelf was situated against one of the walls of the room. The shelves were lined with books, small statues, figures, and other antique items, ones you assumed Yeosang had stolen from people.
Both beds in the room were in good condition and neatly made. Beside each bed was a small wardrobe and a nightstand. Out of curiosity, you went to look inside Yeosang's closet, wondering what sort of dingy garments were inside. You were convinced he dressed up and made himself look like a prince just to fool you. Well, you were about to catch him. Grabbing hold of the handles, you pulled open the wardrobe, letting out an "Ah-ha!" thinking you had revealed a huge secret. Your form deflated as you saw multiple embellished coats similar to the one he was wearing that day. Closing the doors, you moved to the drawers, jerking them open only to find perfectly pressed pants and neatly folded white dress shirts.
Letting out a huff of disappointment, you stepped away, pacing around the room, your mind clouding with questions all surrounding Yeosang. Why did he take you? Why was he being so nice? Each one was answered with one solution: He wanted something from you.
If that were so, then why did he pay your father? A small fortune for a bigger one, perhaps.
Now that he has you, what is his goal? Sell you to someone else or just use you to brag to his other pirate friends?
The longer you thought about the whole ordeal, the more questions popped up and the less answers you had. Having enough, you left the room, stepping out on the main deck for some air and space. You were thankful for the commotion from the crew bustling about the deck, as it drowned out your endless thoughts.
You didn't know anyone on the ship besides Yeosang, therefore you had no one to talk to except him. So, you reluctantly moved up to the forecastle deck where Yeosang was standing at the helm steering the vessel.
"What did you think of the ship?" He asked.
"It's just an ordinary ship." You responded, staring out at the ocean, avoiding eye contact with him.
Knowing how upset you were, Yeosang didn't say anything, allowing you to stare out at the massive expanse of water.
Eventually, your eyes moved to the crew bustling about the main deck below working hard.
A man with short, black hair and ginormous muscles walked across the deck. His biceps stretched against the fabric of his short sleeved shirt as he lifted a crate, moving it elsewhere. The aura he carried was intimidating and had your instincts screaming at you to stay away.
"Who's that?" You found yourself asking aloud, your eyes following the large man.
"That's Wonho. He does most of the heavy lifting around here." Yeosang told you as he kept the wheel steady. "Don't let his appearance fool you. He's a really nice guy."
"Yeah, I'm sure he is." You responded somewhat sarcastically.
Yeosang already tricked you into thinking he was a prince, so there's no way you can truly believe what he says. For now, you'd steer clear of that Wonho guy.
Days passed and Yeosang continued to be nice and tried to get through to you. He would start up a conversation only for you to give him short answers. He was constantly letting you know that you could ask him for anything. You weren't sure why he was doing that.
Everything was really starting to get to you. The only person you had to talk to on this ship was Yeosang and you weren't exactly on speaking terms with him. In a way, you were completely alone.
"Are you okay?" You heard someone ask softly, pulling you from your negative and bleak thoughts.
Looking up, you saw the last person you expected to see—Wonho. His voice sounded so friendly.
It took you a moment to realize he was waiting for you to answer.
"Ah. Yes. I'm fine." You forced a smile.
"I mean no disrespect, but you don't seem fine."
Your smile faltered. Well, there was no use in lying.
"I'm not."
"What's wrong?" He questioned, taking a seat on a crate beside you.
"Everything."
"I'm not going to force you to talk about what's bothering you, but if you'd like to get it out, I'm more than willing to listen."
The entire time you've been on this ship, you've avoided Wonho because you thought he was terrifying, even after what Yeosang said. Now, you see that you were wrong... and Yeosang was right. Despite this being your first conversation with the very muscular man, you felt very comfortable, comfortable enough to open up a little.
"I guess I'm just feeling lonely. I don't really know anyone on this ship besides Yeosang."
"Well, you know me now." He smiled. "I'm Wonho, by the way."
You already knew his name, but pretended like you didn't, returning his friendly smile.
"I'm Y/n."
"I hear you're a princess. Is that true?"
"It is." You nodded.
"We don't really get princesses on this ship." He swung his legs back and forth. "I've never met one either."
You almost chuckled at how adorable he was, even for a large, beefy guy. He was definitely someone you could see yourself spending more time with—and you did.
Approximately a week and a half passed. You still weren't speaking much to Yeosang and were spending most of your time with Wonho since he was the only other person you were acquainted with on the ship.
Today, he offered to teach you how to do a few things that the crew normally does. You didn't have anything better to do and you'd been wanting to experience new things, so you agreed.
"Then, you wanna just give the rope a good tug." Wonho instructed.
You readjusted your hands, pulling on the rope, watching as the sail was hoisted.
"That's good. Keep going."
You took a few steps back, pulling on the rope, watching the sail lifting up higher. The feeling of your dress being tugged caught your attention, followed by a resounding ripping noise. You froze in place, glancing down to see a large portion of your dress had been torn off, the fabric stuck under the wheel of a cannon.
"Oh no."
You had expected to be staying in a castle, not on a ship, so the garments you packed weren't exactly ideal for pirate activities.
"Here. I'll tie the rope off." Wonho hurried over, taking it from you. "You can go change."
You muttered a small thank you, scurrying into the captain's quarters and started rummaging through the wardrobe by your bed. In the short amount of time you'd been on the ship, you decided to move your dresses from your suitcases and into the wardrobe. You'd also unpacked some of the personal items you brought with you in an attempt to make your little corner of the room feel more like home, if that was even possible.
You let out a sigh of frustration, closing the doors of the wardrobe. All you had were dresses and if you were going to be helping around the ship, dresses were not the thing to wear. You needed pants, which you didn't have.
As you scanned the room, your eyes landed on Yeosang's wardrobe on the opposite side of the space. The captain was currently in the galley still eating breakfast. Moving across the room, you opened Yeosang's wardrobe and began sifting through the shirts, grabbing the one that looked like it would fit the best. Finding pants was a bit harder.
You put on one of Yeosang's white dress shirts and managed to find a pair of trousers that somewhat fit, though you did have to use a scarf to tie around your waist. As for shoes, you'd been wearing a pair of flats which weren't practical in your current situation, but they were all you had. You had to admit, even though the clothes were a bit too big for you, they were comfortable, much more comfortable than those confining dresses you wore so often back at the castle.
With your new (and much more practical) outfit, you stepped back out onto the deck where Wonho was waiting for you.
"Wow." He commented when he saw you. "Are those the captain's clothes?"
"Yeah. I only packed dresses, so this was the next best thing."
"You look like a real pirate now." He chuckled.
As much as you disliked your current situation, you laughed along with him.
Yeosang stepped out onto the main deck feeling satisfied after his breakfast. He began moving towards the stairs to the forecastle deck when he spotted you. He wouldn't have given you a second glance had you been wearing your usual fancy dresses, but you weren't. In fact, it appeared that you were wearing his clothes. For some reason, that made his heart flutter a bit.
Wonho had just left to take care of some tasks around the ship when Yeosang approached you.
"Morning."
You spun around upon hearing his voice. "Morning." You responded, trying to act casual.
"Are those mine?" He gestured to your getup.
"Yeah. Sorry. My dress ripped. I didn't exactly pack for staying on a ship." You somewhat tried to get a dig at him for tricking you, but he seemed to brush it off immediately.
"That's fine. Next time we dock, I'll get you some pants."
You shouldn't have been surprised at how understanding he was, but you were. No matter how you treat him or how little you speak, he continues to be nice.
"Until then, you can wear my clothes any time you want. They look better on you, anyway." He commented as he stepped past you, going to the forecastle deck.
You didn't know why, but his words made your cheeks feel warm.
Wonho approached you excitedly, a bright smile on his face.
"Y/n, did you hear? We're gonna have a party." He said, his eyes gleaming.
"A party?"
"Yeah. We're gonna have it tomorrow night. There's gonna be drinking and dancing and lots of good food."
"I love dancing."
"Oh. It's not the type of ballroom dancing you're probably used to." He told you.
"Maybe you could teach me. I don't wanna be at this party unprepared."
Wonho's ears turned a light shade of pink at your suggestion, but he essentially agreed.
"There's not much to it." He told you. "Just link arms or hold hands and jump around in a circle."
You nodded, linking arms with Wonho as you followed his instructions. It wasn't long before you got the hang of it, laughing as you danced in a circle in the middle of the deck.
Yeosang watched from the forecastle deck as you and Wonho danced. His jaw unconsciously clenched and unclenched at the sight of the both of you laughing. He was jealous. He wished it were you and him laughing and dancing together. On the other hand, he was happy to see you smiling and genuinely having fun for the first time since you stepped foot on the ship.
He knew how upset you were with him. Though he told you the truth about not tricking you, you seemed to not believe him, which was fine. He was more than willing to wait for you to come around, but seeing you with someone else made him feel a tinge of jealousy. He had to remind himself that you weren't his and he had no reason to be feeling so jealous.
It was the night of the party and the cook on board had prepared quite the feast. Not only that, but there was a variety of alcohol to choose from.
The celebrations had just begun. Some of the crew mates started playing music by hitting the tops of barrels, stomping their feet, and using makeshift instruments.
Wonho was nice enough to get you something to drink after the party kicked off. You saw there was a bottle of wine, which is what you would normally drink at a party, either that or champagne which wasn't available on the ship, so you settled for the former.
"So, this is a pirate party, huh?" You asked, watching the crew bound around the deck.
"It sure is." Wonho beamed. "We don't have parties too often, so it's always really nice when we get to have these sorts of celebrations. Our cook always prepares the best food."
At the mention of food, you looked towards the spread of various dishes, most of them being finger foods. So far, the meals on the ship have been fairly good, so you were curious to try out what the cook had prepared for the party.
Wonho noticed you eyeing the spread.
"You wanna try some of it?"
You nodded, the two of you moving to the many plates laid out across a makeshift table made of barrels and plywood.
"I recommend this. They're really good." He pointed to one of the bite-sized finger foods.
You took the one he pointed to and gave it a taste, nodding in approval.
After giving a few of the foods a test taste, you went to stand at the railing of the ship to stare out at the ocean, the moon reflecting off the waves.
Cheering and singing pulled your attention away from the night scene. The crew had started chanting and singing sea shanties as they stood in a semicircle, watching two men from the crew dance.
"Hey, you wanna put that dancing practice to use?" Wonho asked you.
You turned to him with a smile, placing your glass down on a nearby barrel.
"I thought you'd never ask."
You and Wonho linked arms and joined the rest of the crew, bouncing around and stomping your feet on the wooden boards of the deck.
The party was so lively and nothing like you'd ever experienced before. It was so much better than the fancy and uptight get-togethers you had at the castle. The room was always filled with dull instrumental music and the low murmuring of the guests as they chatted quietly amongst themselves. Here, however, you heard laughing, singing, and music that actually made you want to get up and dance. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and friendly.
"Where's Yeosang?" You found yourself asking, not seeing him amongst the crowd of pirates.
"Over there." Wonho gestured.
You turned your head in the direction he motioned to and spotted the captain seated on the steps to the forecastle deck, watching some of his crew dance.
"He was very excited about bringing you here." Wonho spoke up. "He told us how much fun he had at the ball and how the two of you talked about exploring. He wanted to make sure everything was neat and tidy for your arrival and told us to treat you well."
You felt immense guilt hit you square in the chest. Part of you felt flattered that he had done all this for you, but mostly what you felt was shame. He didn't trick you at all, he simply wanted to give you what you wanted, what you had always longed for.
"I think I'm going to go speak with him." You told Wonho.
Not knowing what was going on, he gave you a simple nod. "Maybe you can convince him to join the party."
"Yeah. Maybe." You forced a smile before walking off.
You approached him quietly, unsure of what to say first.
"Why aren't you enjoying the party?" You asked.
"I'm not one for stuff like this, but the guys enjoy it so I do it for them." He smiled softly as he looked at his crew bounding along the deck.
He paused, noticing you looking at him with a somewhat sad look.
"I'm sorry." He chuckled dryly. "Look at me not even participating in my own birthday party."
"Birthday?" You questioned, the guilt you already felt doubling. "I didn't realize."
You fell into silence for a moment. "I'm sorry. I wish I had something for you."
"That's alright. Presents aren't really my thing, anyway."
Your shoulders slumped slightly. "I'm sorry."
"Hey, it's alright. I never told you it was my birthday."
"No, I mean I'm sorry about the way I've been acting. I've been so harsh with you since I got on this ship. When I found out you were a pirate, I thought you just wanted me for my money or my title... most men do."
He let out a sound mixed between a huff and a laugh. "I suppose I can't blame you for thinking that."
"You should, though." You responded.
"But I don't. Y/n, that night at the ball you told me how much you wanted to explore. You told me you hardly ever go out and you've never left your town. I brought you here because I wanted you to get what you've always wanted. The night I returned from the ball, I couldn't stop thinking about our conversation. So, I made a plan to tell your father I wanted to bring you with me. Money often sways people, so I brought some with me in case he said no."
He did all of that? Your heart sank.
You hated that this is what it took for you to come to your senses. You enjoyed your time with him the night of the ball and you liked—like him a lot. But your whole attitude changed when you found out he was a pirate. That's hardly fair. His title shouldn't change how you feel about him.
"Yeosang, I'm so sorry." You slumped down at the foot of the steps. "We had such a good time that night, but as soon as I found out you were a pirate, I started treating you differently. I've heard of how pirates can be, so I thought you were tricking me and that this was a plan to get my family's money or—"
"Y/n." Yeosang cut you off, grabbing your attention. "It's okay."
Okay? Did he just say it was okay?
"What? No it isn't. You—you can't just forgive me like that."
"I can and I did." He responded calmly.
"Maybe we could start over." You suggested, wanting desperately to do something to further extend your apology. "Put all this behind us."
"I like that idea." He nodded with a smile.
That smile, while small, seemed to lift an immense weight off your shoulders.
"Do you maybe wanna join me for a dance? I've been practicing."
Yeosang's lips quirked upwards. "I'd love to."
With that, both of you got up and moved to the center of the deck, the crew watching their captain, surprised to see him join the crowd.
"You ready?" Yeosang asked, taking both of your hands.
"More than ready." You confirmed.
The music picked up and Yeosang started jumping around in a circle, you following immediately. Both your shoes hit the deck on time with the music, the crew cheering loudly for their captain. Melodic laughter spilled from Yeosang's lips as you danced, his eyes crinkling into crescents, which told you he was having a wonderful time.
You celebrated with the crew well into the early morning hours. Parties at the castle usually ended around midnight, sometimes 1 AM, but never later than that. It was truly the best night of your life.
After the night of the party, you felt a sense of peace you'd hadn't felt before. Not only that, but your attraction and admiration for Yeosang grew exponentially. Though you still spoke to Wonho, you now spent almost all of your time with the captain. You felt awful for treating him so badly, but starting over was exactly what you needed. You were able to actually enjoy your time on the ship, taking everything in and relishing in your newfound freedom. Like Yeosang promised, the next time they docked, he got you some proper clothes as well as a nice pair of boots to wear on the ship.
When you first arrived Yeosang had said, "Whatever you want, it's yours." You see now that he truly meant it. Any time you mentioned something you were craving or something you wished you had, he would say, "Do you want me to get it for you?"
Of course, you'd say no most of the time, but you found it endearing how willing he was to make you comfortable and accommodate your needs.
There was a thoughtful look on Yeosang's face as he steered the ship in an unknown direction, his lengthy blonde hair blowing in the sea breeze.
"I have a favor to ask." He spoke up.
"What is it?"
"I need you to stay in my quarters until I come get you."
"Why?" You questioned, curiously.
"Just please do it." He almost begged.
"Alright." You gave in, doing what he asked, going to his quarters and making yourself comfortable on your bed.
To pass the time, you see how many books you can count scattered about the space. Yeosang wasn't the best at cleaning up his messes, so there was a lot to count. Once all the books were counted, you switched to swords, then knickknacks.
Boredom eventually took over and you found yourself staring blankly at the ceiling, waiting for Yeosang to come get you.
A soft knock at the door pulled you from your daze, causing you to sit upright on the bed.
"Yeosang?"
"No, it's me." Wonho's gentle voice called out as he poked his head into the room.
"Yes?"
"Captain will be ready in a few minutes and requests that you dress up."
"Dress up?"
He nodded, looking like he was holding back a grin.
"Very well." You got up from your spot on the bed and began rummaging through your wardrobe, pulling out the nicest dress you packed. It was your favorite color and was very flattering on your figure.
It wasn't long after that Yeosang came knocking at the doors of the room.
"You ready?" He asked, softly, making sure not to poke his head into the room in case you were still changing.
"I am." You responded.
Upon emerging from the room, you saw you were no longer in the middle of the ocean. To your surprise, the ship had anchored near some sort of island.
"Wow." You heard Yeosang whisper under his breath.
"What?" You asked, turning to him.
"You look absolutely breathtaking."
The compliment had your cheeks feeling hot.
Yeosang offered you his hand which you gladly took. The two of you descended the gangplank that had been lowered and stepped onto a beach.
Though you wanted to ask questions, you stayed quiet and followed Yeosang along the seashore. After some time, you spotted a short trail of torches across the beach ahead that had your interested piqued.
Upon following the beacons of light, you were met with a small setup. A blanket lay on the sand surrounded by a few lanterns. On the blanket was a tray of fruit and two glasses of what you assumed was wine. The whole setup looked very romantic and had you feeling like you might cry. Yeosang beckoned you over to the blanket where you both took a seat.
"Where are we?" You finally asked.
"I thought you'd recognize it from the photo."
That's when it all clicked.
Your eyes widened as you took in the view. How could you not notice? It was the island. The one your mother went to all those years ago.
"Yeosang..." Your voice came out just barely above a whisper.
You were so touched you could hardly find the words to say to him to truly convey how this made you feel. So instead, you grabbed him and pulled him into the tightest hug you could give.
"Thank you." You murmured, your voice trembling as tears threatened to spill.
One of Yeosang's hands came up to stroke your hair. "You're welcome."
When you finally pulled away, he gave you a soft smile. You were feeling so many emotions in the moment, the strongest being adoration for the pirate captain who came in and swept you off your feet. You didn't have a chance to stop the next words that came out of your mouth.
"Can I kiss you?"
Yeosang's brows raised slightly at your sudden request, his expression softening afterwards.
"Yes you can."
His hand moved to cup your cheek as you leaned in, both your lips colliding. Since you never bothered to date anyone, you'd never kissed anyone... until now, that is, and it was nothing like you'd imagined, in fact, it was even better.
Your fingers moved to tangle themselves in Yeosang's long hair, gripping at the lengthy strands at the back of his neck. His free hand rested on your hip, squeezing lightly every now and then as his lips moved rhythmically against yours, sending a wave of warmth through your entire body. His head tilted slightly and deepened the kiss, making you feel lightheaded. This man really knew what he was doing.
A brief silence settled over the both of you when you parted ways, the only sounds being heard were the waves crashing against the shore and your short breaths.
"Wow." You breathed.
"Yeah. Wow. Have you done that before?"
"No."
Yeosang let out a chortle. "That's hard to believe. Are you sure you haven't kissed any princes?"
"No." You chuckled. "Just a pirate."
"Well, I'd love to sit here and kiss you all evening, but I prepared all this and I'd hate for it to go to waste." Yeosang gestured to the wine and fruit.
"Ah. Right." You reached for a glass.
"Should we have a toast?" He asked.
"Sure. What should we toast to?"
"New beginnings."
"To new beginnings." You lightly clinked your glass with his, taking a sip of the wine.
"Oh." Yeosang reached for a strawberry, holding it out to you. "I picked these up from the last town so they're fresh. You should try one."
You reached for the fruit only for him to pull it away.
"Ah." He said, opening his mouth, gesturing for you to do the same.
You shyly leaned forward and allowed Yeosang to feed you the strawberry.
"Oh." You covered your mouth as you chewed. "You're right."
After enjoying some of the fruit, you leaned over on Yeosang's shoulder watching the waves, a sense of peace and contentment washing over you.
"This was the plan all along, you know." Yeosang spoke up, suddenly.
"What? To win me over?"
"No. To bring you here."
Your heart softened a bit more hearing that.
"So, if you'd like to go back home you can. I'll take you back." He added. "Just say the word."
You lifted your head from his shoulder and made a face at him, taking offense at the offer.
"Are you kidding me? I've already had a taste of the pirate life. There's no way I'm going back."
Yeosang couldn't help but smile.
"I was hoping you'd say that."

I've been thinking a lot about DCU stuff and Ace Attorney thoughts got mixed in by accident, because it's got a lot of the same themed, colorful character designs and silly pun names. So, of course, I started immediately daydreaming about a DCU-style Superhero AU for Ace Attorney. (I often do not fully control what I think about.)
And then I was like, "I think I just finally have to play Ace Attorney at this point, before I get stuck in a weird daydream loop because I don't know enough about the plot to worldbuild properly. I will let this be the final push to just start these games."
Based on my extremely limited knowledge (I have only actually played 2 episodes of the first game), here are my Superhero AU thoughts so far. I don't like 1-1 character role match-ups in general when I fuse worlds, so none of these AA characters are fully aligned with any particular DCU character.
Phoenix Wright would make a good speedster, I think. This is partially because of the spiky hair, but also because there's a terrible irony to being the fastest man in the world who keeps being too late to stop certain tragedies. It also suits the way he's apparently never properly prepared for anything but also quickly manages to pull through. He's probably still a defense attorney in his civilian identity. (In accordance with later games, he has to stop being a superhero for several years when he's framed for a crime.)
Besides Phoenix's mentor Mia, who is also both a superhero and a lawyer, ordinary civilian Larry Butz is the only person who initially knows that Phoenix has superpowers. He honestly hasn't told anyone Phoenix's secret identity! But Larry also somehow gets into more scrapes and "damsel in distress" situations than Lois Lane and he's not even an investigative reporter.
Mia Fey, Maya Fey, and Pearl Fey have a Shazam situation, I think, in which they transform into a "Mystic Champion" magically empowered by the ghosts of their ancestors. Like a Shazam & Danny Phantom fusion. Mia Fey was the first in her family to become a publicly known superhero. A lot of people don't know that it's not the original Mystic Champion (same face and same superpowered form as Mia, which breaks Phoenix's heart a little every time) until Maya or Pearl transforms back into a regular girl after the fight is over.
I think Miles Edgeworth is a Batman type hero, but one still partially ensnared by Manfred von Karma, who is his Ra's al Ghul. (This makes Franziska into Talia, but there is definitely nothing romantic there.) Maybe he does have superpowers of some kind, maybe not, and he could still potentially be a prosecutor. He doesn't have a Brucie persona, though. Phoenix is not impressed by Edgeworth's harsh and even cruel approach to vigilante work. (Steel Samurai was Miles' Gray Ghost or Zorro hero inspiration, I'm guessing.)
Gumshoe is Miles' Commissioner Gordon figure and doesn't know his secret identity yet. He's either going to learn in the middle of a really bad situation or he's just going to straight-up figure it out himself one day and scare the hell out of Miles.
I'm still thinking about characters like Kristoph and Klavier Gavin, Apollo Justice, and Trucy Wright, but I don't know enough about them to fully flesh these thoughts out yet. I think the Gavins would make good Kryptonian equivalents (a cold and calculating Superman and a rockstar Supergirl), Apollo might make a good Wonder Girl equivalent (his bracelet becomes a Lasso of Truth) as the lost son of an Amazon, and Trucy would obviously be fun as a Zatanna type of hero.

honestly yeah u make a really good point in ur mcyt rpf post. i was Also the person bemoaning how mcyt defaults into vbrpf tags and that there isn't a separate set, but then i realized like. i spent Years writing fic about the roosterteeth crew, which all fell in a very similar gray area like mcyt. like looking at shit like fake ah crew fic, the characters written about there are very obviously separate from the real life people, but also they are intrinsically linked. the characters don't exist without the people. and even though we were all in fandom talking and writing about them like playing with dolls, it was still like... yeah okay this fits under the rpf umbrella still. i never questioned it then, or was bothered about it not being a separate tag set, because it didn't feel necessary. which is really the same situation with mcyt!! its just that for any number of reasons, mcyt fandom in particular tends to have a very loud and very vehement group that think rpf as a whole is abhorrent and doesn't even want to be clocked anywhere close to it. which like honestly thats a personal issue at that point, thats not on everyone else to deal with, and certainly not on ao3 to sort out.
Yeah like I think RPF has a bad reputation because of some very obvious bad actors who've behaved badly in the past that the whole internet knows about, and especially because MCYT was kind of the butt of the joke and hatred for a lot of social media sites, a lot of people were eager to emphasize that they weren't behaving like that, it was fine, they were being totally normal (and they had the creator's permission, hence the boundaries discourse and the twitter cancellations for anything "weird"), and nobody should hate them cause they totally weren't like those weirdos.
And that's a really understandable reaction to try and do, I also have gone into the comments of bracket polls and seen hate, but that also ignores that the vast majority of RPF is a) not actually hurting anyone b) is not any more egregious in its content than any other fandom c) Is not inherently weirder to the creators than anyone who avidly follows their social media and shows up at their meet and greet and like— tts them stuff. We've all seen people TTS stuff that should NOT have been said in view of the creators, but the vast majority of it is perfectly fine. I very much think we shouldn't be showing RPF to the creators, and because the boundary is thin for MCYT I extend that to thinking that there's a WHOLE bunch of stuff that we shouldn't be showing to the creators— from gore to shipping to nsfw to aging down family dynamics to stuff about people they've lost— but I don't think that reacting with a horrified gasp to anyone saying "oh yeah rpf" is actually necessary. Or heck, if you were watching twitchcon vids and you want to straight up write tagged-as-RPF, go with god, I don't think that's inherently any weirder than people who go to twitchcon to meet streamers. You like them a lot and you want to rotate them mentally and get a picture with them, that's like, fine. As long as we keep it in fandom spaces and don't make the streamers feel weird cause we're showing them it, you're just doing what people who got really into polygon videos over the pandemic did, or historians who write historical RPF about their ancient blorbos, or whatever. it's fine.
Particularly cause what I write is mostly aus, I've had to wrestle with the question of if what I'm writing is RPF, and I think it's (usually) not, I can tell in my head when I'm thinking streamers or when I'm thinking characters, but like, we're talking *really* fine distinctions at points. If someone thinks that it's RPF it's not an insult to me, I can tell how they get there, and me reacting like it IS an insult is kind of rude to my fandom neighbours who are writing Gamechanger RPF where they design their own challenges cause they just have so much fun with the show, you know?
Some of this is just that I'm in my 30s and I'm tired of fandom policing, I can coexist with a lot of shit if you just tag it appropriately so I can filter it if I need to. For the holiday exchange last year we had no RPF as a rule not because I had an issue with it, but because the form to get the information for it would have been literally two hundred checkboxes long and I didn't want to do that to my spreadsheets.
I kind of drifted from your point there, but yeah, I think MCYT is legitimately in a blurry spot when it comes to if it's RPF or not, but that's not something I think we need to get all up in arms about, and we certainly don't need to, as I saw someone recommend we all do, file a ticket with Ao3 to remove MCYT tags from Video Blogging RPF.

Morine {Noragami}
Character presentation
[Warning ! Noragami’s spoilers !]
Tumblr media
General
Capacity : Ki
Name : Mori
Usual Name : Morine
Age : 14 years old
Gender : Female
Status : Dead (ghost/shinki)
Transformation : Push Dagger
Tumblr media
Physical Appearance
Morine's straight chestnut hair falls to her shoulder blades. She often wears it up in a bun, but a rebellious lock wanders over to the right side of her forehead. Her green eyes are reminiscent of the color of the forest, which she lightly makes up with mascara. Her skin is dotted with moles. She wears two under her right eye and a string of them all over her body. On her upper left thigh is the shinki mark, the kanji of her name written in red : 森. Morine is taller than girls her age and more muscular. Her arm muscles are also quite well defined, which is a source of complex for her.
Morine's style of dress is quite feminine. She often wears dresses, skirts and elaborate tops. But there's one rule she never seems to break : she never shows her arms or shoulders. She often hides them under layers of clothing, even if it means being too hot. She often wears nail polish to match her mood of the day. It's a way of expressing the emotions she can't bring out constructively.
Tumblr media
Personality
Morine is a young girl whose biggest screw is lying. She doesn't have much self-confidence and will do anything to make people like her. I don't know if I should say more about her yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Relationships
Yato : Yato and Morine's relationship is off to a bad start. The former god of disaster refused to take her on as a shinki for a while. But he finally agreed to take her under his wing under conditions, in discussion with Hiyori. In time, their relationship will improve, because after all, Yato's not a bad guy.
Hiyori : Hiyori was the first person to take her under her wing when she was lost in the woods in spectral form. They also get together around a shared passion : combat sports. A great way to bond !
Yukine : While time is on Morine's side with Yato, it's just the opposite with Yukine. He seemed to like her when she came to live with them, only to find his trust shattered after an argument broke out between them.
Kofuku : They have a bit of a sisters relationship. Kofuku likes to dress Morine up or put nail polish on her. They get along great ! Morine got her purple skirt from her. She gave it to her when she saw her leering at it. It's a gift that means a lot to Morine.
Daikoku : Daikoku has the soul of a father. He loves children and it's not surprising to say that he acts with Morine like a father or uncle, as he might with Yukine.
Tumblr media
Story
Her past is an enigma, her future a mystery, and you'll have to be patient to find out !
Tumblr media
Other things
Here I'm going to talk a bit about what's going to happen to this account and my future posts !
Well hello already, I'm glad to meet you ! I'm Much ! I'm writing this first post on Tumblr to introduce you to a character of my creation and more than that, a project close to my heart. I hope you enjoy it !
You'll no doubt have noticed that a good deal of information is missing. I either fly over them or skip them. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal. Indeed, through this blog, I'd like to draw your attention to what's coming next. This presentation is an introduction, an attempt to intrigue you a little.
Lately, I've been remodeling an Oc that I created when I was a 15-year-old baby. With my MATURE ADULT eyes, I now realize that everything has to be redone ! I've taken over her design, her story, her name... I'm not quite finished bulding the structure of the story, but I know where I want to go.
So I've decided to post what I write about it here ! For the moment, I've drawn the first chapter entirely in the form of manga boards. I tried to reproduce Adachitoka's style for fun. And although it was a lot of fun, I don't think I'll have the time in the future to draw the whole story I want to tell. So I'm thinking of publishing some blogs mixing illustrations and writing.
I plan to post the boards of the first chapter in a while. I hope you’ll like it ! If not... I don't care !
I wish you a good day, a good night and a beautiful life ! See you soon !
[To be continued…]

@checkadii
I literally just woke up so this is the worst time to post this but ngl I have this problem where I wanna talk about it but I blank so fucking hard and fall flat on my face that I end up not talking about it anyway out of sheer embarrassment.
I'm not good at structuring my thoughts properly either because of ADHD, but here goes I guess.
I usually gotta segway into the topic if it's relevant to the conversation usually via,, friend convo, I don't know how people do deepdives of characters and whatnot I can't do that. I'm not sure why that is, this always has been a thing for me where I've got some level of understanding and my own HCs and such but they're not written or anything, so I can't express them.
To me Postal is just a silly series (minus P1 and Redux), not to be taken too seriously. So I don't really think about the "lore" that it has so much. I can ramble about Postal: Brain Damaged tho, that's probably my favourite cos of gameplay... And the designs as well as the soundtrack. It's just such a good game, I never thought shooters would ever be a genre I'd like to play, as I was so against playing them (thanks Half-Life for opening up my eyes). I can say definitely with confidence that retro styled FPS are especially something I find fun? Not on intense difficulty or anything either, I usually can't go above normal.
I've listened to "Straight Outta Suburbia" for like over an hour straight, I'm pretty sure even during while I was drawing one of my BD sketches lol
Back to Postal in general, I frankly haven't done enough "research" on it where I can properly speak about it aside from the games I've played (P1, P2, Paradise Lost and P:BD) And they're all games that are super different from each other (aside from P2 and PL, but even then). I'd also say I'm still pretty new to the series, speaking as I haven't played all of the games yet. Frankly, I was planning to just stick to P2 and that's it, glad I didn't.
Postal 1 I remember making me feel all sorts of weird things when I both played it and after I finished it. The load up intro scared the shit out of me the first time I opened the game, to where I had to pause for a minute. And it kept spooking me each time I did open it. I think that was kinda the point of the game as it's pretty dark compared to it's counterparts. I won't get into the lore of the 1st Dude cos I've seen people pluck at each other's feathers over the interpretation of him. But essentially, guy looses his shit during an episode, starts killing everyone. (Or just, "hostiles", depends how you play the game.)
P2 is so wildly different (aside from the fact that you can shoot people) that when I first opened it I was so confused how I was met with THAT Dude. I was surprised to hear him talk more beyond than just "BLEED" or "Only my weapon understands me". At the time I was also wrangling personal fears and feelings(which I don't know if I wanna get into, let alone if people would even wanna hear it lol) over playing the Postal series, so my initial expectation towards the game was:
"Okay, I know this is going to have some offensive shit in it, there's parts that won't be fun probably." And hoped for the worst, surprisingly a lot of the stuff in it I didn't find that bad, most of it is definitely fucked up, but nothing I couldn't handle, surprisingly. I played neutral-y, so I only attacked whoever attacked me, but I'd bail if I had the chance.
Paradise Lost plays similarly to Postal 2 (as it's literally the same branch of game just in the form of DLC). But I've found myself enjoying it way more than Postal 2, mostly cuz I found some of the jokes in it actually funny.
P3 I haven't played because I got rick rolled by RWS on the website so I'm not gonna play it out of spite </33 (But I've seen gameplay)
Postal: Brain Damaged is like, even more different than the previous entries as it's a retro styled shooter. But it has the charm of a Postal game and MAN is it good, I think the fact that it was released more recently is what made me enjoy its humor more. And it just!! Is so fun in general like wow, I'm still processing playing the game and I've already been thinking of replaying it because of how much I've enjoyed it. Definitely recommend trying it out.
AND WOWWW this has gotten long oops. Sorry.
I wanna note tho that, although there are aspects of Postal I enjoy, there's a lot of them that I don't, namely the offensive bits, some of them are genuinely fucked up where I can't go past them even in a comedic sense. Which I think is OK. I still enjoy other parts of it :^]

Happy April 1st, I have no new joke but here's a really good old one.
Buckle up.
Alright. Can't remember if I posted much about this before, but at my old job I produced this videogame. It was pretty cool!! It was set in the future, you're a super soldier who piloted remote robot drones called Espire.
youtube
(Violent little robot Sooty, my beloved. The shotgun pump in the trailer is still my favorite bit.)
I had my fingers in just about every pie that made up this game, and it was extremely cool getting to work with the team. April fools rolled around, game hadn't released just yet, we were finalising into the certification phase.
Every friday we had something called 'demo friday' where the team would show off something they worked on that week and we'd celebrate. It was charming to let everyone have a chance to show off their contributions, from every department in the company. I never really showed off anything because the spreadsheets I worked with, everyone already saw cause I would run around showing people every day as part of my job.
So on this fatefull, April 1st Friday, I asked to show the team something special. I pulled up a powerpoint presentation and add-libbed a new game concept pitch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I pitched Espire to Love, a robot dating simulator, to a room full of 25 odd videogame developers.
Now as you may or may not have noticed, I don't often dabble in romance as a genre. I've barely touched dating sims and I'd never mentioned them before at work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"From Dreamy daddies to anime girls, KFC's the colonel and even dinosaurs, there's an incredible range of options in the dating sim genre" I said with a straight face infront of a room full of people who were crying with laughter. I was barely holding myself together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one was prepared for the fake screenshots.
Still remember how hard some of them laughed when I pulled these slides up. I packed a lot of in-jokes into these that I won't explain - I wanted this to hit hard and hit home for the people I'd spent two + years working with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
People loved it, I made my friends laugh, it was good. And then upon being told "Hey you should send this to the publisher!"
That's exactly what I did.
Tumblr media
The response from our assigned reps at Tripwire (YES, THAT TRIPWIRE) said they loved it, and they too were asking themselves the question "why not!" the whole way through.
But this story doesn't end there, oh no.
Fast forward a year. The game is released, we're hectic busy working on post release content, I'm cooking up the next stage of the joke.
Unfortunately, it never came to fruition due to time and stress. But here's what it was going to be:
We'd had our community clammoring for merch - so I wanted to pitch something bold, new and exciting, and the kind of thing that'd make us stand out.
Tumblr media
Body pillows.
Would have been incredible. Might've made someone faint.
The robots were called Bean and Sooty during development so yes. I was going to deadass say "The bean bag and the sooty sack" (I mean what I say)
Unfortunately I didn't make it in time, and then double unfortunately, I lost my job when the studio had to significantly downsize.
But that never stops me from posting a good bit. You all know I'm a committed freak.
Fast forward a bit more and I'm trying to learn how to make my own games! So I download RenPy since it's a good starting point. It's designed more for VN's, so to find my feet I figured I should make as VN right?
I didn't want to make to make new assets, as the point was me learning to code. What to do..... what to do....
Full circle babeeeeyyyyy
And that's where we're at today! Long post I know, but I'm real proud of this joke. I love a good laugh that hits you at home, that's just honest fun. Huge shoutout to my old co-workers for listening to my original presentation, their laughter filled my heart and I was fucking terrified at the time, it was worth the joke.
It became a running gag in the office - we were playing Jackbox for a work party and it was one of those question and submitted answer games, and without any input from me the team had made the question "What would the for the sequel to Espire to Love be?"
and the options were "Espire to Live" and "Espire to death"
Anyway, I hope you only have charming and well considered April fools jokes today - designed for you to laugh at as much as the person making the joke. That's the best joke. Peace out.

Do you think the SW Sequels Era did anything right? I've seen a lot of backlash in regards to what they did wrong, but I'm genuinely curious to see what some people think were positives ideas to come out of the whole ordeal. (Luke's characterization, Reylo canonicity completely sidelining Finn and Poe, and Disney/Execs overall throwing their POC cast to the wolves when they weren't happy with conditions were decisions that should have never been made in my own opinion btw)
This is one of those topics that might stir up a wasp's nest depending on who you ask, but honestly the Sequels Era as a whole wouldn't be so bad if the executive decisions behind them weren't such a disrespectful trash fire.
But yeah Anon, I getcha. We've all seen people's (rightfully) negative opinions of the Sequels Era and how much squandered potential the trilogy turned out to be. That said I do think there are some positives. Mostly in the form of ideas that DO still have potential so long as they're approached with care and consideration.
With that said, what I think they did right:
The Force Awakens - It's just a straight up good movie that opened the door to a lot of possibilities. Good OST, good cast, interesting alien and creature designs, combined some pretty dark elements that could very easily be explored more deeply by anyone who's interested in sparking a debate about willing conscription vs forced indoctrination and how to tell the two apart, etc. I still consider it a part of mine and @lost-on-kamino 's Forceful Intervention AU Verse because honestly it's a movie that paid excellent homage to both the original and prequels trilogies.
Star Wars Resistance - A lot of people consider it a subpar show, which honestly I don't see. It has so many interesting themes, from privileged kids that want to actually do good instead of sitting pretty while the world burns around them, the dangers of targeted propaganda and how it's specifically used on youths that are dealing with trauma left behind by war, trying to make your way in a galaxy that isn't always friendly but that can offer you community if you know where to look, and more. The cast is fun, the style isn't the worst I've seen in terms of animation, and overall I feel like it's a breath of fresh air to focus on characters that aren't inherently connected to the Force.
Kix Lives - There is absolutely so much potential behind the reveal that Kix was not only frozen in stasis by Dooku, but also found 50 years in the future after everyone he knew and held dear to his heart have been dead and gone for a long while now. The amount of survivor's guilt and trauma would be immeasurable, if not torturous, and I feel like the writers at least owe it to Kix to help him find some legacy his brothers might have left behind. Be it artifacts or even entire lineages they might have been able to start. If not that, then at least show us some of his adventures with the crew of the Meson Martinet.
Barghests - They added a new kind of space doggo that I absolutely love the design of, and want to see in action so badly. Just look at these absolute creatures of all time:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Delightful beasts! Friend shaped! Worthy of as much esteem as the humble Massiff, the zesty Charhound or the beefy Corellian Hound!
And that's about it on my list of things that the Sequels Era did right. If only the rest wasn't an absolute mess... We could have definitely had something really good to work with.
Ah well... Nothing like rolling up the proverbial sleeves and getting to work exploring all the wasted potential yourselves!

Ben Marriott sat in his car in the parking lot for twenty-three minutes.
A truck pulled up in the spot next to him and he startled, scrambling out of the front seat and groping along his key chain for the remote to lock the door.
The automatic doors parted helpfully and the cashier at the front acknowledged him, sort of, before turning back to her magazine and chewing dramatically on her gum.
It smelled like he remembered from the last time he'd been there, about four months ago. His Docs made an ungodly sound on the tile and the fluorescent lights felt like they might be trying to fry him. He glanced up and caught a glimpse of himself in the mirrors that leered down from the back of the store and he paused, just a for a moment, to fix his hair in the distorted reflection.
"If I wanted to know what idiots thought, I'd ask you."
Ben swallowed. That was her. She always talked so goddamn loud; he could hear her before he even turned the corner.
"If I cared what you though, I'd be hurt."
"Yeah, yeah. Go eat a pretzel and die or whatever old person shit you do when I'm not around."
Ben smiled involuntarily at the sight of her as he strode very coolly to the counter. "You know, if I couldn't hear you two fighting, I'd think I was in the wrong place."
Lyn grinned and swept her bang out of her face, peering over her shoulder at Hunter. "That's about to be the case. He's leaving the end of the month. Got a fancy big boy job and everything."
Hunter rolled his eyes, and went back to shoving prescriptions in the designated bins.
"Hey, that's awesome, man! Congrats," Ben chuckled genuinely. "End of an era."
Hunter nodded and returned his smirk.
Lyn was distracted by the technique- or lack thereof- of Hunter's filing, because she instantly went after him to fix his work, snapping harmlessly "What did I say about the shoving? Good God, how hard is it...? Lydia!"
Another woman, a new one, came around from the back and instantly started to get after Hunter too, which meant Lyn could turn her attention back to Ben on the other side of the counter.
"Sorry," she laughed, waving them off. "It's been a minute since I've seen you."
"Yeah, I ended up moving my testosterone..." Ben answered nervously. "'Cause you guys never had it, you know."
"That's probably for the best." She switched through some screens on her computer. "I don't... remind me your last name?"
"Marriott, with two T's."
"Yeah, that's what I thought. You didn't come straight from the hospital, did you?"
"Uh, no." He pulled on his neck. "There's... there's nothing in there for me, I just had a question."
"Oh, sure thing!" Lyn leaned over the counter. "What's up?"
"Yeah, so, I don't know if there's like special rules, but since I'm not you're patient anymore, I just... I wondered if I could have your number."
Lyn stared at him, gaping and blinking stupidly, like one of them had lost their mind and she wasn't quite sure who it was.
Hunter and Lydia immediately stopped bickering and turned to look right at him. No one said anything.
Ben weighed his options, which included laughing it off and asking to actually just buy some syringes, or walking away and never setting foot in a Willablues ever again.
He was almost ready to full-send on the latter, when Lyn turned to Hunter and asked, "Is there a rule?"
"No!" Lydia insisted suddenly. "There's no rule! You can do that. Especially if we're not dispensing for you anymore" She immediately went to scrounge up some sticky-notes and a working pen, passing it to Lyn eagerly.
Lyn laughed awkwardly, clicking the pen to discover it had already been open and was now closed, clicked it again and scribbled down the number. She looked at it, then up at Ben all flushed, then tore off the page and wadded it up. "Sorry, I'm all shaky," she laughed again, bubbling out of her in anticipation. She rewrote the number-legibly this time- signing it Lyn <3 before handing it to him.
"That's a... that's a four, and that's a nine," she added, pulling on her earring.
"Okay," Ben grinned, sticking the note along his finger. "What time do you get off? I'll text you then."
"7." She started to pull on her bang. "But text sooner so I can ask them how to respond."
They both giggled- that was the only way to describe the pleasantly uncomfortable sound- and he agreed.
There was another pause, where they looked at each other, then away, and then back at each other and kept laughing.
"I'll text you," Ben declared finally, and started to walk away from the counter.
"I'll expect it."
Ben walked calmly out of sight, and then ran the rest of the way back to his car.
"Oh my God," Lyn mumbled.
Lydia grabbed her shoulders and squeezed them softly. "Girl!"
Christian turned from the drive-through. "Are you really gonna go out with him?"
"Yeah, let's see if he even texts," Hunter chuckled.
"He will!" Lydia snapped, glaring down her boyfriend. "Who wouldn't?"
Lyn smiled in recognition and turned back to typing the incoming faxes.
"I can't wait to tell Taylor," Lydia mused gleefully, pulling her phone from her pocket and disappearing into the back.
Lyn, despite herself, had some sort of smirk stuck on her face, even as she focused on typing the instructions for titrating prednisone, but Hunter saw it, because he had known her too long not to notice.
He couldn't come up with a way to tell her he was happy for her that didn't sound stupid or contrived, so he just tapped her arm as he walked past.
She looked over her shoulder to meet his secret smile, and the single laugh that escaped her told him well enough.
She understood what he meant.

Nim Sketch Dump
as promised, here's a big sketch dump of my sona/oc nim! this isn't gonna be a popular post and I don't care 👍
I didn't originally intend to post these so I've referenced some art works heavily but I've written the name of the artist and I'll type it out too! if any of the artists see my references and is uncomfortable with it please let me know and I'll remove it from this post :D
dump under the cut!
Tumblr media
the first ideas for his "modern design" (he's been around and recycled for a loooong time). the pose in the top right hand corner is taken from @/hiraethminds! they are a very cool artist and inspire me a lot. though the grey-ish tones as the major colour goes away I still really like the centipede tattoo, centipedes are rad as fuck and you can't tell me otherwise
Tumblr media
I started to play with the idea of a goat design for him here! which is strange because like. that's not even his main design or motif or anything, I just really liked the idea I guess LMAO also Aurelai belongs to my mate of the same name! she's not on tumblr (yet) but you should still like her because she's cool and awesome
Tumblr media
a treat for my qsmp enjoyers!! an unfinished short comic I sketched on the day tallulah lost her first life. the other characters in this are my old ocs, don't even worry about them
Tumblr media
I straight up just have the image that inspired me in this one. its by @/sss-eriema and it was a gift from GOD. I was trying to sort out the colours and wanted to incorporate both orange (my favourite colour) and green (my close second favourite colour) but wasn't having much luck. eriema's artwork showed me that it can work in a more muted way and it was very very helpful!!
Tumblr media
maid dress. sorry. also slimecicle
Tumblr media
I started to get the colours down in the bottom right corner!! I really like this sketch page honestly. some bonus self portrait sketches because I wanted to try and put some more of my own features into his design as my sona! also in the notes I was debating between the two eye shapes and I'm still thinking about it. I think the bottom ones fit his personality more and are way more expressive but I just like the Vibe of the top ones
Tumblr media
a lot of little drawings with varying styles! also more slimecicle. I am adhding so hard for him right now, it's concerning.
Tumblr media
t. this one is the reason for the blood tw in the tags. I just really like drawing blood. as a treat. don't come for me this is my self-indulgent safe space leT ME BE EDGY </3 also the writing is a little hard to read so I've put it in the alt! and more qsmp doodles!
Tumblr media
I'm starting to ditch the goat design but this one is my last hurrah. basically settled on the general colour scheme now! and more qsmp stuff. its literally gripped my brain I can't escape it, even in my personal work
Tumblr media
then I realised. nimbus-BUGS. bugs! what if bug? this was a really fun study for using more creature features that I wasn't used to! loving the mandibles tbh
Tumblr media
my most recent sketch as of posting! I might update this later, but this sketch page is probably the most gratuitously referenced, the expressions in the bottom left and top right were basically ripped from @/microwavablesquid so if you like those please check them out! the basic design structure of the full body was referenced from @/aresonist, retroactively I realised a lot of my design choices. uh. they also made LMAOOO so if my design in General tickles your brain, follow them!
as for his lore and basic information for what he actually Is, uhhh. ??? I don't know HAHAHA he's a little guy! he's creature! is he human? probably not but no one could say for sure! is he bugs? is he 1000 bugs in a trenchcoat? sometimes he's goat I guess??? I can never decide on a design and I think that aids his cryptid-like habits. he shows up sometimes, vibes and can't die in a way that matters! he has a running motif of my fake-God-thing, the centipede ouroboros, so I was like "what if he was a harbinger of the ouroboros, what then." and I like to imagine he has video game logic where when he dies, he basically respawns. also weirdly it's worked out in a way where he has lots of biblical motifs, like my name is literally nimbus, like the halo, and he's a messenger of a god like some fucked up blorbo angel. also lily of the valley is my favourite flower and I like drawing him with it, it also has lots of symbolism in the bible?? wild.
I sincerely doubt it but if you guys have any questions about nim or want to draw him or anything I would Die. I would just keel over. you'd take me out.
thank you so much if you got to the end of this btw!! this was a lot. seriously though, it means the world if even one person would like to see my little guy <3 have a great day and take care of yourself!

FF8 Live Reacts
Started the ps4 remaster of final fantasy 8 in may 2024. Finished in August. I've never played it before. Here's my live reacts. This is a compilation of the discord messages I sent during this time period while playing it.
Spoilers: I didn't like it and this is mostly a rant of me hating on it
(dates are dd/mm/yyyy)
Got rid of my ps5 a couple weeks ago, but guess who remembered there were still ps4 games they were interested in? I just bought disco elysium and ff8 remaster. Will be delivered on the 20th I've actually never played ff8 at all, but have always wanted to and now I'm going to attempt to make more headway in ps4 ff8
and boy do I have THOUGHTS about ff8 most of which are "ff9 is better" and "man RPGs back in the day really expect you to already know how RPGs work" but I'm only 2 hours in so who knows!
I definitely didn't pay enough attention to the dialogue originally, so I had to pull out a game walkthrough for THE FIRST AREA Which is fine, I guess, because this is a direct repeat of what happened when I played ff9 for the first time - got lost in the world map when the area I was supposed to go to was literally straight ahead quest markers and shit were amazing inventions, man, I'm glad those exist now
27/05/2024 11:21 I'm trying to give ff8 the old college try, but if I keep having to consult the playthrough every 5 minutes, I might just pull the plug
anyway I did not have much on the to do list for today, but I somehow finished it I will now go off to try to progress in that ps4 ff8 I could go off on complaining about stupid things with this game but I've brought on enough negativity for today ps4 ff8 it is, then I have come to a good point in the game to start grinding Somehow this is more fulfilling than the actual story
I guess I know now why I've wanted to play ff8 for so long. Teenage me would have loved ff8 First of all, squall (the main character) is just the perfect character design for my desires at the time, bonus points he looked just like me fr Also I love scars on the face, he was probably the whole source of that archetype The story is about them becoming mercenaries and doing mercenary things. Like's like, the bread and butter of every kid chat roleplaying those days, myself included of course. Who WASN'T a mostly silent merc who secretly hated everything but everyone looked up to? Unfortunately, my disappointment starts with the very beginning of the game: the opening cinematic
It plays off like some kind of abstract dream thing, but no, you're actually supposed to believe this is a thing that actually happened in real time. it's not an epic battle, it's just a stupid sparring match between classmates(? friends?) random visions of a woman are totally what causes squall to not beat seifer!! /s the scar DOESN'T HAVE ANY SPECIAL MEANING :tisacry:
Epic battle, epic music, mysterious circumstances
Actually just a training exercise between two 15 year olds who should not have been given the ability to use real weapons The first thing that happens in-game is squall going to the infirmary for his new injury, which somehow isn't serious or prevents him from doing anything that day, but is also enough to leave a scar. On his face.
Then we have Quistis, his instructor, who has only been teaching for 1 year, and turned 18 while she was teaching (Why are these people so young?) And she very much behaves exactly like a 17-18 year old, so it's no wonder that after the merc test she reveals to you (Squall) that 1. she got fired from teaching and 2. She's definitely DTF you (Squall is completely oblivious though) You finally meet the girl of your dreams at the ball you're voluntold to go to as a new merc, her name is rinoa and her opening line to you is "You're the best looking guy here" except that LATER you learn this is actually seifier's (the guy who gave you a scar) girlfriend Now, don't ask me how this works, because rinoa says that she met seifer that night but then when seifer "dies" when he encounters the sorcess for the first time, she says he was her boyfriend and has lots of good memories of him so yeah this doesn't make sense at all but WHATEVER
The "main" story is that a country(?) Is attempting to establish independence from another country, who is trying to take over the world with the help of a sorceress. I am currently only 6 hours into the game / not that far into the story. I have only just seen her for the first time, where she is like "You should come with me" and seifer just goes with her because he's a fucking tool One of their teammates blabs that this coup is from their organization ("the garden" ), so there might be some retribution (surprisingly there is none??????) and by the time the group gets back to a garden (HQ), they say that seifer was tried and his sentence was served, and everyone assumes it's execution. I have just left the garden and am on my way to… somewhere (I honestly forgot where lmao). And I am taking this break to grind Which leads me to my next complaint: the gameplay I HATE THE JUNCTION SYSTEM I like the IDEA of the junction system, and I can kind of see how FFX's sphere grid (and aeon upgrading) grew from it (I love the sphere grid, but it was also very imposing to a newbie). My main problems with the junction system, aside from the fact that it's got a severe learning curve, is that a GF (summon) must be junctioned to a character in order for that character to be able to have ANYTHING on their battle menu aside from "attack" Do you want to be able to use magic in a battle? haha fuck you, need a GF junctioned. How about an item? Nope, hope you have junctioned a GF to this character! haha!! Who the fuck decided to link these things
The OTHER main thing I hate about the junction system is that no character can perform magic innately. It has to be junctioned too. And in order to cast a spell, you have to steal it from someone else first ("stock" the magic). And what's even worse about this magic stocking thing, is that your stats are connected to your magic stock, so using any of your stocked magic will result in lowering your stats, creating this awful system where you should get 100 (the max) stock of every spell that has worthwhile stats increases and then NEVER CAST THEM IN BATTLE EVER So anyway I'm grinding in order to get 100 of the spells FOR EACH CHARACTER so I can get max stats I also am grinding to overlevel my characters because this absurd system has made it guaranteed I will concentrate on physical attacks OH THE OVERDRIVE SYSTEM It's called something else but I can't remember what atm It kicks in when you're low on health, or, in the ps4 version (which I'm playing) you cna press a button and it becomes available whenever. But the thing about it is that the interface sucks. It's not a separate menu option. It's a submenu of attack. so in order to use your overdrive, you have to put your cursor on "attack" then move it to THE RIGHT and then select the overdrive you want to use. (side note: pagination in this game is to the right/left, which I also hate) So if you are like me, and have the battles on x3 speed (another thing they added to the ps4 version) and are just holding down X to get through most of the boring ass battles, you will never do any overdrives I have the cursor thing on memory, so maybe if I turn overdrives on manually and select them once they'd automatically do it from that point forward, but that seems like cheating? So I haven't done it Actually I'm very confused on why the manual overdrive button is a thing that was added at all well anyway this concludes the rant I had bottled up from yesterday I will now start grinding on ps4 ff8 (As I chose to write this instead of actually starting the game when I mentioned it)
I discovered the written seed tests. I couldn't get higher than 80 on the first one. So of course I looked up the answers and now I'm at max level with no more tests to take 😂
At least I won't have any money issues anymore now
07/06/2024 23:47 I think I hate all the characters in ff8
Not only that, the music choice sucks ass
Like it actively makes every scene more boring
Idk how they got so much so wrong in this one. I'm glad 9 was my first ff
I just got to the scene where squall "dies" from the first fight with the sorceress.
Ff8 is just boring so far. I'll keep playing it until I either beat it or actively hate it
29/06/2024 18:48 I made it to disc 2 of ff8 Kind of disappointed there's no in-game indication that you have moved to disc 2 [in the remaster], aside from the subtitle in the save file
23/08/2024 21:35 Turns out the button that gives you the attack specials in ff8 also makes it so you never take damage wtf I could have been using god mode the ENTIRE TIME THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING
I guess after I get this gf I want I'll plow through the rest of the game on god mode… Although with godmode now I don't even need this gf… Ugh
24/08/2024 00:07 Made it to disc 3 Game story still feels pretty stupid. But I'm more than halfway so hopefully I can just get through it. Godmode certainly makes that way easier
30/08/2024 01:12 I am about to fight the final boss of ff8 The story never made sense, was always stupid, and I never would've made it here without a guide But it will be over soon and I can maybe start disco elysium and hate on that next
30/08/2024 01:53 I'm done With ff8
[Someone else says: bit of a mindfuck innit? ]
No I'm just disappointed in it
------------
My final thoughts: So many things went unanswered. Rinoa and Squall's sudden romantic interest in each other never made any sense. Maybe the [possession + time travel + teen mercs/renegades + amnesia] plot points were semi-original for the time, but nowadays they feel lazy and overdone.
The junction system is horrible. The card game was too confusing to me so I never played it, however that's definitely on me and I feel like if I were younger it would've been a great game (I was a huge fan of Tetra Master in FF9).
The game controls are too clunky with no hints and there were several areas where if I had not looked at a walkthrough I never would have found or did the thing the game needed me to find/do to progress. It seems like they fixed that in FF9 with the little "?" thought bubble when you're near things that should be interacted with.
The one redeeming thing about the FF8 ending was that the sorceress Ultimecia is obviously AMAB but uses female pronouns, so I guess we could say that technically FF8 was before its time in trans representation lmao.

Let's do a re-cap for this year, for me. Because it was an insane year.
Well, it started off with my family telling people I'm a peadophile, I hurt children and I've got a lengthy criminal record. I lost jobs, I lost friends and I thought I was gonna be homeless. I had to call the police because when I ordered food from my local takeaway, my neighbours were talking to them saying "I wouldn't trust her. She's a peadophile and hurts children". Then I had friends starting drama with me because they believed my family, even tho I didn't do anything wrong.
Role up to May, I visited America to see my fiancé, his family and my friends. I got engaged on my birthday. It was then I decided I wanted to move to America and never come back to England. It's just HOW. That's the issue. In my head, I got fed up with being stalked. I started to hate England even more.
I came back home, it's when people started to ignore me and want nothing to do with me. No drama, they just ignored me like I didn't exist. So after a while, I did the same thing with them. Then they said, I hurt them by me ignoring them... Okay 🥴
I was still losing friends, I had one friend who spread lies about me. Even tho she wanted my cat dead, she didn't like how I wanted to move to America. I vented to my therapist, found out she has been talking to my family, persuading me and fiancé to stay in England. (That didn't work lol). My therapist said "I don't like your friend J. Block her. She continues to stalk you, call the police". I haven't yet, but I will in the future.
Late August, still in deep depression, my family still causing me shit. The police got me into Cross Roads and they have been helping me a lot. I still continue to lose friends because people still believe my family. Then my fiancé came over to England and we watched AEW in London. It was a really good time and I needed a break. I felt safe in London.
My neighbour started acting weird around me. I think he's talking to my family. But no drama with him. His vibe and energy shifted slightly and I don't like that feeling.
Cross Roads got me into this design course that's not too far away from me. I've been creating fashion and learning to do an Expedition either in Sheffield or in London. We are planning to do an Expedition where I live in a very fancy hotel. Tbh, I'm super excited.
Then more and more people started to ignore me. No drama.
Rolled up to November, my best friend in England is acting all weird around me. Told me not to go to the wake, after the funeral, even tho I looked the memorial for her dead mother, everyone was allowed to go. So I went anyway. All her family loved me, but they hated J (go figure. And yes the same J that my therapist HATED).
I still headed up to the design course, I still love it up there. It's cold, but she has a wood fire. It's nice to sew and create fashion. It helps distract me from my family.
I saw my cousin, he was on drugs and acting erratic. Threatening anyone who looks at him weird and threatening children, he was gonna beat them up. Calling them a freak and so on. When they ran past me in fear, they were calling the police.
Rolled up to December, I thought an old drama situation from a decade ago was over. Nope. Found out, my so-called best friend told our friends I caused drama, because they all heard me and my mother argue, (when I was living with her at the time). She hid her stories on her IG when i told her I blocked everyone. When she hid her stories, I just blocked her. Tbh, she was a child and I haven't got time for people like that. Especially after this year. Do it once, I'm happy to cut you off. I know Al is still stalking my profile, (hi, how ya doin 😘).
I got my neck tattoo because after this year, FUCK IT. Y'all calling me a criminal, I'm gonna get a Corpse Bride butterfly tattoo, on my fucking neck. BECAUSE, WHY THE FUCK NOT. Straight after when I got my tattoo, I needed to pay the tattoo artist, so I head to the bank, but before I went to the bank. I treated myself to Costa Cafe, a hot chocolate and a small cake. I wasn't that hungry, but it was nice. I saw my cousin there, she kept telling her friend how my skin should be "pure" and having a neck tattoo is against the family rules. Her friend was confused and my cousin kept telling her, how I should "marry within the family. She should marry my cousin". Yeahh her friend thought the family rules were weird and her friend liked my tattoo. But my cousin wasn't having it because my uncle An wouldn't like it. (Fucking lol. My family can kiss my furry purple ass). Now she needs to tell the family and my family won't be happy because they have to disown me (fucking lol). It was that moment I knew I needed another tattoo on the other side of my neck. BECAUSE AFTER THIS FUCKING YEAR, WHY THE FUCK NOT. I walked up to my tattoo artist, gave him the money and walked back home. As I was walking home, I saw a family friend full on screaming and swearing at her children. I ignored her and just walked home. Nothing to do with me, I'm keeping my nose out of it. Now people have started to treat me with respect since I got the neck tattoo???? Like, wtf. This never happened. It was so fucking weird.
I think I lost that best friend whose mum died. My intuition started to kick in that J is spreading shit about me. So I just muted all of her profiles so I don't see what she's up too. If I don't hear from her again, I don't mind. I'm thinking of the worst case possible right now.
I still continue doing my design work. I've been experimenting and my teacher, she thinks I'm really talented. I've been doing so much fine detail work, it's been fun.
In all honesty, I FUCKING HATE IT HERE. Other than the design work. FUCK ENGLAND AND FUCK WHERE I LIVE. I FUCKING HATE IT HERE.
Anyone tells me otherwise, your suss. Just sayin.
I hope everyone had a better than me. It started off shit, still kinda shit. But at least people will leave me alone. Planning on getting another tattoo on the other side of my neck. BECAUSE WHY THE FUCK NOT. Y'all wanna treat me like I'm a criminal, I will be a criminal, by getting tattoos and me showing them off. Because fuck what other people think, I'm gonna do my own thing. Don't like it? Kiss my furry purple ass.
It's funny how, people thought I was conservative and "prim and proper" HA 🤣🤣

2023 Dive Into Aquaplus
After having been into Utawarerumono for well over a decade, and having one foot into Tears to Tiara for the longest of time as well, I decided to finally take the plunge this year to try a variety of Aquaplus' very colorful catalogue.
I got into Utawarerumono a long, long time ago, back when the 2006 anime adaption of it was still airing. At the time, my like of it was mostly superficial. I was still a kid, and I just liked the aesthetics of it. I only started watching it because the name was long and nonsense to me who didn't know a lick of JP at the time. But it stuck with me as it was one of the first few anime I had started watching as it was airing in Japan and subbed. It also introduced me to Suara, who my love for has been anything but superficial.
If it weren't for the 2015 anime adaption of Utawarerumono Itsuwari no Kamen, it may have just stayed as a memory of aesthetics. A few episodes into its airing, I had a strong urge to buy the game, and so I asked for it for Christmas. I was never the same since.
While waiting for the release of Utawarerumono Futari no Hakuoro later in 2016, I got my hands on Tears to Tiara 2 to try and fill the void. I had previously seen the Tears to Tiara anime back in 2009 while it was airing, as I had immediately recognized the art as being similar to Utawarerumono. Looking it up I learned it was from the same company, and Amazuyu had also worked on some of the designs for it as well.
Unfortunately, the game was incredibly difficult for someone like me who is terrible at strategy games, and the writing didn't manage to hook me early on, so I ended up putting the game on hold indefinitely about 10 hours in. At some point in 2017 I picked up the remake of the first game, Tears to Tiara Kakan no Daichi, and really loved it. It still wouldn't be until this year though that I fully threw myself into the Tears to Tiara franchise.
Fast forward to 2023, through various Utaware phases and burnouts, and the release of Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten along with the 3rd anniversary event in the Utawarerumono Lost Frag mobile game re-igniting my mood for the series at the tail end of 2022, I finally decide that this year is the time to make due on my desire to play more Aquaplus titles.

Tears to Tiara II: Heir of the Overlord
Seven years after my first attempt, I finally went back to this in January and finally completed it. My issues from my first attempt never really went away, however the writing managed to hook me around chapter 5, and I had a lot more enjoyment with the OST and various small things now that I had actually experienced the first game, and not just the anime. The uses of Until and Tears to Tiara 凱歌 will live in my head rent free until the end of time.
Tarte became not only my favorite TtT character, but maybe even my #1 Aquaplus favorite. ああっ女神さまっ…
This game got me to start paying attention to Honjou Tatami.
The nostalgia for the first TtT game wrecked me hard and I ended up replaying it right after.

我が友よ
My Tears to Tiara mood was unstoppable, and so I finally bought its fandisc.

Tears to Tiara Gaiden - Avalon no Nazo
Nothing could have prepared me for the Lidia content in this game or the dragon stage straight from the ninth level of hell.
I still haven't recovered from the ending and the double whammy of realizing what the start of the OP is. The bastards really did it twice.
After this I went on a spree and bought all the LEs and the novels and manga... it is criminal how little supplementary material the games have, and how 2 has none. I have nothing to go on now but copium and offering my life to Marui Takeshi.
Tears to Tiara Gaiden 2 and Tears to Tiara 3 when.
Next, I played my first dating sim in 8~9 years, and a more obscure one at that.

Routes
You don't know what you're getting into until you've already beaten this game.
One of the more unique things I've experienced, to the point I don't know how to talk about it without spoiling it, and it is definitely a game best played blind. Quite possibly the most unique script-writing I've seen. The way the two scenario writers duties were split is one of the best uses of multiple writers that I've seen in a game.
The voice acting in this game is a masterpiece.
One thing I really love about both Routes and Tears to Tiara is the kind outlook on life they have.
I started this just before the Dungeon Travelers 2 series re-release and still have not touched those.
Next, I somehow ended up on one of their most famous.
Tumblr media
White Album 2 ~Introductory Chapter~
Short, but emotionally loaded. After All ~Tsudzuru Omoi~ changed me as a person.
I started this one just a few days before the first White Album game's re-release because of course I did.
Tumblr media
White Album 2 ~Closing Chapter~
One very charged, and very long work. I had to sit on it for quite a while after. I also binged all its supplemental material.
I haven't had a love/hate relationship with something this strong since, well, Inuyasha. You have issues, Maruto.
Kazusa Normal was a great route.
WHITE ALBUMの季節はまだまだこれからだよ。
Tumblr media
White Album ~Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide~
A little underwhelming, honestly. The way the gameplay and routes are structured makes the writing very fragmented. Had some nice moments, but overall I enjoyed the writing of Sayoko's route most, as it feels most coherent, likely due to it being added into the 2010 remake.
Despite the fragmented writing, I did like many of the heroines quite a bit.
White Album has been stuck in my head for months, and now the season for it is upon us...
And what would be most fitting to follow it up with another winter-related game, if not...
Tumblr media
Tenshi no Inai 12-gatsu
It might be time to lay off the depresso games for a bit, as I had a hard time getting into this one. In a weird way it reminded me a lot of how screwed up my own mentality was when I was younger, and it's not something I cared to remember. I suppose it gets points for realistically depicting the unstable nature of the adolescent mind.
It had some interesting underlying themes, and I don't dislike the message of it, but I was unable to feel any investment in the heroines. I may have liked it more if the characters were a little more fleshed out.
I've only just beaten it, so I need to sit on my thoughts for it a little longer.
And then a special mention to none other than:
Tumblr media
Utawarerumono Lost Frag
I finally picked this back up in November 2022, during it's 3rd anniversary event when they added Raikou. It's not every day you get an entire event dedicated to your only OTP in the series.
I got especially into it after my TtT marathon, and I've read most events, various character stories and a little of the main story. I always wanted to give it another chance, and I'm glad to have finally found something to pull me back into it. I really enjoy what it offers, from the expansions of various Utaware lore, to doing things only a social game really can. The event writing is out of this world.
It gave me 2 of the top 3 things I wanted to see for 7 years from the series now and I can only pray it delivers on the last someday.
Final thoughts
I've had a lot of Aquaplus vocal tracks in my library for many years, and its fun to go through their backlog and realize what songs are from what, and which ones I had that I didn't even realize were from Aquaplus games. And since I've followed Suara since 2006, making the connection between her discography and where her non-utaware songs are from has been a blast so far.
I look forward to diving further in in 2024. I want to give their other famous series like Dungeon Travelers and ToHeart a shot. Comic Party is still waiting on my shelf, as well.
Going through different time periods with their artists is a really fun adventure from an artist's perspective. It's fun to see where they've improved, what habits they've kept, the areas where they adjust things to be more modern, and how their painting evolves. For a long time I only knew Amazuyu by name, but now it's fun to glance at an artwork and be like "Oh, so and so drew this around xxxx year."
I want to see another game with Tatami as the main artist...
I also recently realized the only things I've finished since March have been various Aquaplus fanarts (I have drawn other things, just not finished...) Something unlocked in my brain and I'm enjoying drawing again to an extent, and for that I'm glad.

PROLOGUE
"I’m not trapped in a tower, hidden away so I can be protected from the world. I'm in this tower so the world can be protected from me.”- unknown
Feel free to give me pointers!
I look out the window, a particularly troubled expression on my face. Years. It's been years since I've been outside, since I've seen my people. I’ve tried everything. Using my dresses as rope from a window four stories up, sneaking out the back gates, even dressing up as one the maids. I long to feel the sun, to feel the rain. Anything to make me feel human.
Though, it's controversial to say anything about humans anymore.
It's been 10 years since it happened. The war that ruined everyone’s life. We won, and yet, it truly feels like we lost. The humans have gone away into hiding, because if they don’t they’ll be killed. We hide away in our towers not because we’re scared of them, but the sheer power we hold as gods scares the moonlights and solarflares. We scare our people.
I’m on my thirteenth diary entry, trying my best not to tear the book and the whole room apart, when I hear footsteps. They’re swift and almost silent, but I hear them. I know who's coming.
"You know better than to be by your window with no blinds.” She says as she enters the room.
“Sorry Mother.” I say as I close the window.
Mother was irritating but at least pleasing to the eye. She wore an elegant, livid colored dress with a perfectly straight and simple crown
“Seriously, what is with you? You only ever leave this room when you’re asked-”
“Forced,” I spat, “I was forced."
“Whatever,”  She yelled, “My point still stands. You are a princess. You should start acting  like it.” She pointed, jabbing my chest
“As you wish, your majesty.” i back up and bow
She turned her head indignantly and left, leaving the door open and me alone. I already knew she meant for me to follow, and I couldn't object to my mother. So I did.  The castle isn’t a place I traverse often.  It's big, elegant, and regal. The walls have paintings all over them, painted by some of the best painters of Etherenesca. The workers of the castle scurry around, with a huge fear of bumping into us ( which I think is no way to live.) There's about three floors, 4 if you count the roof, and each one has a purpose. The 1st floor is completely dedicated to the workers. It has rooms for them, though mother and father never see to it that they’re good rooms, and it's where most of their work is done. It also holds the ballroom and throne room, where mother and father receive guests. The 2nd floor is mostly for the royal family. Mother and father have their chambers on the left wing, I have mine on the right. Their chamber is more dull than mine, using more grayscale colors than the vibrant ones I paint on my walls. The 3rd floor is for activities. Apparently, it was specifically built for me when I was younger, so I would have something to do when I was older. It has a library, a paint studio, a design room for sewing, and a diplomatic office ( though I'm pretty sure that is for my father).  And 4th is the roof. No one is allowed up there anymore.
“Are you even listening, Iridiana?,”  Mother asked, pulling me out of my head yet again, “Seriously Iri, this is why we didnt have more of you, always in your head about something or the other.”
She mumbled something else and started walking up the stairs.
“Jericho!” Mother practically screamed.
My dad appeared from the diplomacy room, clearly upset at being called. He was wearing a similarly colored suit with a big, regal crown. He loved to show off.
“Yes, Gianna?” He basically groaned.
“You were supposed to be in the throne room hours ago, not playing fix it with your council.”
“ I am not playing, Gianna, I am trying to fix the economy you broke!”
Mother rolled her eyes, turned and motioned for us to follow. Although we all knew that we don't really sleep much, all of us looked extra tired at that moment.
The throne room was big. It had three thrones in the middle of the room, my parents' thrones on either side of mine. It was made of pure marble flooring and golden arches on the ceiling. Unusually, the throne room was full of people.
No, not people.
Prisoners.
What was she doing?
I looked around. All of these people..they were human. They wore dirty clothing and were shivering, but not from the cold.  They were in a cage guarded by 5 of the best guards we have. I stopped. I refused to walk forward. I refuse to know what she's trying to do and I refuse to partake in it.
“What are you doing, Iri, ” Mother asked, “ Your throne is that way.”
“Yes, but i'm not going.” I began to back up slowly. I wasn’t going.
“You will go or spend a week in the dungeons.”  She glared, daring me to try her.
As much as I wanted to, I didn't.
I walked forward as the people shivered, fearing for their very lives. I feel powerless. I feel hopeless. I feel…
“Greetings guests and prisoners,” Mother started, interrupting my thoughts yet again, “Today is a joyous day for solar flares, moonlights, and gods alike. Today, we rid the world of these humans, starting with these ones.”
Ihatethisihatethisihatethis
“As you all may now, many years ago, humans were on top. They thought that they could use us. Belittle us. They used us as slaves and categorized us as cargo. But our powers awakened, Beni the god above gods, Blessed us with our gifts. To take over and make them pay for what their kind did.”
This was so wrong. There were children in that cage. They didn't do anything. None of them did.
“Bring the first prisoner”
Tears. I don’t know who started to cry first. Me, or the family of the first prisoner.
He was tall, a little muscular, but looked soft. He was wearing dirty overalls and had dirt all over his body. He hung his head of curly dark hair as his shackles were dragged in front of the queen.
He was tall, a little muscular, but looked soft. He was wearing dirty overalls and had dirt all over his body. He hung his head of curly dark hair as his shackles were dragged in front of the queen.
“Hephorus!” A little girl cried. Presumably, his family. My tears were trying to increase steadily, but I held them back.
I had to do something.
But what?
“So, Hephourus,” Mother started, “Do you answer to the crime? Do you admit what a terrible crime it is to even exist as what you are?”
She aimed her hand at him
Aura projection. She was going to kill him. She was going to kill all of them.
“No!” I said
I jumped in front of him. My own aura caused such a blast of light that everyone was blasted back to the nearest wall.
The throne room was a wreck. The furniture was broken, and the cage melted in the light, all the humans running away because of it. Hephorous, or whatever his name was, was under me and took most of the hit. We were hidden by a wall, and no one could really see us unless they were looking.
“Ow…” I groaned.
Hephorus groaned too, but it sounded like he was in more pain than i was in.
“What did I do…” I whispered.
I slowly stood up, But was careful not to reveal myself.
“Find her! NOW!” Mother screamed, “ And round up the prisoners too!”
I flinched. I would have to find them before her, but first is checking myself and hephorous for major injuries. I looked down.
He was bleeding from his head, but he looked conscious. He was looking at me with hazy eyes. I was bleeding too, but from my arm. It was numb right now, so that’s probably something to be concerned about later.
“Thank…you…”  He said.
I crouched down. He looked in awful shape. I would have to get him somewhere in order to treat those wounds.
“You’re welcome…ah…what was it? Hephorous?”
He tried to nod and grunted at the pain
“Try not to move your head,” I whispered, “You got hit pretty bad. And stay quiet.”
I put up my hands .
“One means yes, two means no. Got it?”
He put up one.
“We have to go somewhere that isn't here to treat your wounds, and I know a place. Do you think you can walk?”
Two.
“Great.” I groaned.  I looked around at my options.
The throne room was empty. No one was in here anymore, and there are plenty of exits from the castle here. Since we're on the first floor, the windows are my first choice.
“We’re going out by the windows. Give me your hand.”
He obliged and I lifted him up. I basically dragged him to the nearest window. I opened it, as it was the size of a giant, walking out into the gardens with him. By now, it was nightfall, so we could travel in darkness.
“Take deep, quiet breaths, okay?”
He did.
We hobbled all the way to the gardener's house (Which was deep in the woods) and locked the door behind ourselves. I was sure I was gonna be killed the next time Mother sees me.
“Listen.. I’m gonna treat your wounds, and I'll keep you in here. Nobody ever goes in here  cause we haven’t had an official gardener in forever.”
I put him on the bed and found a towel to wet.  I wiped the blood and put the towel in a bucket.
“Name…” He whispered
“Hm?” I said
“Your…Name…” He asked again.
“Iridiana Camille Saint-Fleur.”  I say, Now treating my own wound before I could start feeling it again.
“Iri..” He whispered. And then fell fast asleep.
I pulled up the blankets on him and began contemplating the big question.
What in Beni's name was that?
Only the cosmic gods had any kind of power that big. My mother wasn’t a cosmic god, and neither was my father. And if I had powers that strong… what did this mean?
I didn’t know what else to do except sleep. So that's what i did
I wake up sweating, almost jolting out of my bed. I had a nightmare, but what I saw when I woke up wasn’t nightmarish at all.
“Good..Morning?” I say, confused as to what hephorus was doing.
“Mornin’.” He said.
He was making breakfast. That much I gathered, but what I couldn't say.
“Look, you can stay here, but I can't, otherwise they’ll find you. My mom has a funny way of tracking me sometimes. She can see a general idea but never the exact point, so it's never safe for others if I stay for long.”
He nodded slowly, trying not to irritate his head wound. I start to head out.
“Oh, Hephorous?” He looked up slowly, “For what it's worth, I will not reign like my mother.”
He offered me a small smile, and I headed out, locking the door behind me.
Time to face my mother.
“How could you do such a thing!” Mother screamed, “How could you let them escape! How could you *help them*?!”
“I’m sorry, mother.” I lied
“ Yes. You will be.” She yelled as she snapped her fingers, and I was transported to my tower.
My tower is the place I go when I do something bad in my mother or fathers eyes. It's an empty place. With nothing but a bed, I sit here for weeks on end sometimes. I hated my tower.
I screamed when she first put me in here. I screamed, yelled, and kicked. I soon realized no one could hear me. That this place was so far from people. I remember that moment like it was yesterday.
I was about ten, playing in the kitchens, when I spilled flour on myself. I thought my dress was so pretty. I cried about it. And when I wouldn't stop crying, Mother snapped her fingers, and here I was. I cried for hours until, eventually, I just collapsed on the bed and slept until one day I woke in my bed, and my mother acted like nothing happened.
I am so tired of her. I'm so tired of this. I just sat and wept.
