Y’all the character arc was a success!
I got Utterson (for once) and not depresso professo Jekyll.
I’d like to thank my parents, friends, and the priest who exercised my incessant need to people please out of me. Couldn’t have done it without you, now where has my bestie ran off to?
So... I made a little quiz...
What character from Jekyll and Hyde are you?

I was thinking. As an oldest child myself, I suffer from oldest child syndrome.
Now, anyone who has been following my blog lately knows that I’ve been kinning Victor lately. This got me thinking.
Frankenstein Spoilers in the following explanation
Victor has two younger siblings biologically, plus Elizabeth— a sister figure. Out of these four, he is the oldest.
When thinking about Victor, his defining personality traits (other than sopping wet and pathetic) are anxious, perfectionistic, solitary, obsessive, a little egotistical, etc etc.
Funny thing is, all of these traits are associated with eldest child syndrome. Typically, these are brought on by high parental expectations. Now, as a C*roline and Al*ones hater, it’s pretty obvious that their expectations for Victor were a little much. I mean, Caroline’s dying wish was to control Victor’s love life. Alphonse preserved this wish, even reminding Victor of this said wish while he is recovering from his arrest and death of his closest friend. Alphonse and Caroline are also probably homophobic, I will not be taking criticism at this time.
That being said, there’s almost no question as to why Victor hardly talks to his family in Ingolstadt. Why he obsesses over his work, freaks out when it’s not up to his standards, abandons the paternal role he’s been forced into all his life. Also explains why he’s only miserable when it comes to marrying Elizabeth, and doesn’t argue about it at all. And why he’s so close to Clerval, someone who genuinely seems to care for his opinions and wishes.
I dunno. It’s definitely a theory that should be thought into.

Lo and behold, the promised headcanons.
Crack Headcanons for many lit characters (Mod Au):
~Lanyon still sleeps with a teddy bear, but denies it.
~in order to pay off college, Kemp worked at Dairy Queen for two (2) days. He was fired when the blizzard fell out of the cup ;-;
~Dorian watches RuPaul’s Drag Race
~Jekyll actually pours the milk before the cereal
~Lord Henry uses Reddit
~Clerval cries whenever Gordon Ramsay yells on MasterChef
~Victor almost killed a Girl Scout over thin mints once
~Jekyll was this close to drinking gasoline 🤏 and by that I mean none he’s drank gasoline before it was very unhealthy
~despite being well spoken, Utterson cannot pronounce ‘synonym’
~griffin owns 8-10 cats and they are all fluffy and white and named after dictators (Apawf Kitler is a sphinx cat tho, Grif felt bad for him)
~other than cats, Griffin also loves geese, because they go “HONK” and yell and bite and is funny and relatable
~Elizabeth can beat Victor up if she wants to
~in college, Basil sometimes drew the vibe check emojis in Lord Henry’s notebooks
~Lanyon enjoys the feeling of wet socks
~Dorian is a crystal and astrology bitch
he once claimed he liked astronomy not astrology and all the scientists got excited and then he started talking about being a Scorpio and Jekyll cried, Victor swore, and Griffin kicked the wall
~Basil actually enjoys being called a simp. He doesn’t see the harm in it .
~Griffin would dress as a cat maid, unironically
~Utterson used a joke pickup line (because pun) on Jekyll once, causing Jek to pass out
~if asked “boxers or briefs,” Griffin would reply “thong” (it’s actually boxers)
~Basil can and will get angsty if the first chord of ‘All Too Well’ comes on
~Clerval believed in Santa until he was like 14
~Jekyll cannot ride a bike and refuses to learn
~Jekyll uses Hyde to talk to customer service people because he gets scared
~sometimes Hyde just. Carries around a kazoo. And blows it at people.

My #1 post of 2022
So I saw a post that kind of made me want to post this.
I feel like there’s a lot of gatekeeping in the J&H fandom. I’ve see a lot of posts like “you’re wrong if you like TGS” “you’re not valid in the fandom if you interpret the duality differently” “we don’t stan if you think Jekyll is cis.”
It feels really toxic, imo. I interpret the story differently than others, and that’s fine. A lot of the story is really open ended and up for interpretation. Specifically with the second point with the duality, I’ve seen hate on the “Jekyll has OCD” interpretation on here in the past, and like? Why?
While that’s personally the interpretation I choose to agree with, that’s not what I’m talking about in this post. There’s really no need to hate on seeing the book differently. As with most other fandoms, you’re not looking at the big picture. There’s a group of people who enjoy the same media as you, and you’re really just going to trash their opinions?
I dunno. I don’t really have a solid point I’m getting at. It just pisses me off. I have a lot of opinions about the book that I’m afraid to share, and I’m sure tons of others do too.
Please be nice y’all. It’s not like Stevenson is coming back from the grave to confirm any interpretation is right.

One day, they play a new online game that's been released in all types of mobile technology. All of them had set a schedule to play together. And when that time comes, all of them at the same time login to the game but unnoticed the danger ahead. One of them is going to get something from their kitchen but when they go down the stairs, they accidentally slip and fall down the stairs. What is the genre for Ace of Cards?
-The genre of it is mysteries, thrill, Isekai, supernatural, magic, fantasy.
Is there any inspiration for this story?
-The characters and the story are all inspired by other Isekai stories and also inspired by a Tarot Card. I am a fan of Vocaloid, and one time I heard of a song called “Alice In Human Sacrifice” English cover when I was young. I was so naive and English is not my first language. So, a little more inspiration for that.
When will it come out?
-When I am finally done with the plot and the twist of the story.
What did they look like?
-I have done what they're appearance looks like, I will post it later.
Are there any other inspiration you get for making Ace of Cards?
-I do.
Games; Genshin Impact, Reverse 1999, Honkai Star Rail, Kingdom of Hearts
Anime/Manga: Bungou Stray Dogs, The Trash of Count's Family, Vanitas No Carte, My Next Life As A Villainess: All Route Lead to Doom, The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior, I am the Villainess Daughter So I’m Taming the Last Boss
Is it alright for me to ship, headcanon and theorise of the characters?
-It is alright to ship the characters of my story and also headcanon them. As long as it is a legal ship and also none of the characters of mine are out of character. And it is alright to make a theory of them, let alone analyse them with all you want! I would love to read it.
What makes you want to write your book?
-I was thinking of making an Isekai story like all the Isekai books I have read before. I want to learn how to write a story that are not specifically a modern style timeline. I want to see the difference I can make with modern life and fantasy life.

its MY blog and I get to pick the thing i liked in middle school that i still think is fun to draw ten years later
points of interest: - in a perfect world flippy is not stereotype jekyll n hyde ptsd he’s just kind of Like That all the time. he is epileptic though i think thats just more of an inconvenience than like, a serial killer trigger. assigned Clown and can only do murder if it’s funny enough.  - you look me in the eye and tell me nutty wouldnt be a KILLER any% speedrunner. also that he wouldnt kin gir from invader zim.  - flaky and cuddles are both so very transgender to me. literally any angle you want to look at it from.

Oh gosh where do I even start well I've kinned doctor Jekyll ever since I read the book way back in middle school. I'm well into adulthood and he's still one of my strongest kin. For the longest time I thought I was the only Jekyll kin so I'm still warming up to doubles but don't be afraid to talk to me. Any kin is welcome to!
I seem to come from 2 different timelines so perhaps I kinned him twice.
One, fallowing the books, where Edward and I were actually completely different people and were in a toxic yet loving secret relationship. Would love to meet any Hyde kins.
The other is similar to the glass scientist yet different.
In this timeline I was a trans male, as was Jasper, and I may have had a great fondness for the young man. I remember lanyon being cold and toxic especially when I finally came out to him.
I'm really just looking for any Jekyll and Hyde/the glass scientist/ the search for Henry Jekyll kins. As I kinda have things in my kin life from all sources. I also love to rp and it's how I feel closest to my kin self. So I'm always up for an rp!

Jfksjsjs this might be easier then top five musicals!
sdfhj at least i KNOW five musicals, but easy? NEVER, i have chidi anagonye syndrome
Top 5 Musicals:
5. Jekyll & Hyde:
I can have little a Serious Musical. As a Treat. But yeah, I love PotO but J&H is my dramatic bitch musical. I just think the music slaps so hard, I really love it. The moment I got accepted into uni I blasted This Is The Moment to feel emotions, and of course at any moment I’ll be internally throwing a performance to Alive feeling my best evil self. Also, glad tiktok caught up with how fucking BADASS AND FUN Confrontation is, I perform to it in my room all the time, big fun.
4. A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder:
Love me some fun musicals! Love me some murder! Really, what’s not to love here? GGLaM is absolutely hilarious and the music is so much fun as well (Also, I just love how one actor plays all of the D’Ysquiths, so cool!). It still haunts me that I had the chance to see it but I didn’t know about it so I didn’t, but oh well. I love lip syncing to Stop! Wait? What!? so much and i’m monty kin i too wanna have two gfs and go on a murder spree.
3. Beetlejuice
The Ghost with the Most! I had the absolute fortune of being able to go see the show with the OG cast, and what a fantastic night it was! I love having fun, and BJ was fun from start to end. The music is so energetic and catchy, the stage is KILLER and it was just so entertaining, even for my parents who don’t speak english and hadn’t seen the movie! Alex Brightman is a king, and oh my god Leslie Kritzer AN ICON.
2. Come From Away
Another musical I had the opportunity to go see, and I just...I love CfA. It’s such a feel good musical, it really makes you believe in the inherent goodness of human beings. It’s a wonderful story based on true events and I guarantee you that you’ll have a great cathartic cry listening to it. Me And The Sky is...just amazing, and the finale gives me goosebumps every single time. It’s incredibly powerful and just a little gem that deserves to be experienced.
1. Legally Blonde
IT REALLY IS THE MUSICAL TO END ALL MUSICALS, SORRY. It has it all: a great story we all know and love, music that’s incredibly catchy and fun, it’s engaging and captivating, and it’s just pure Broadway fun! I love it so much, I love how they make Elle and Emmett’s relationship so much better and deeper here (I LOVE THEM SO MUCH OH GOD), and it’s the perfect adaptation, honestly. Also after I got accepted into uni I blasted So Much Better, which is my go-to confidence boost song. BONUS POINTS FOR A PROFESSIONAL FILMING GODDAMIT FUCKING ELITIST PRICKS.

Griffin (any version)?
Oh gosh, I have to pick one? Ah heck, I don’t have the heart, I’m gonna cover as many as I know
H.G. Wells book Griffin
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang (would probably think better of him were he not so cold to literally everyone)hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff (I’m torn because the closest he has to positive traits seem to fit either Slytherin or Gryffindor but so do his negatives traits)best quality: Damn do I wish I had his kind of drive and determination. (Not for the things he did of course, just in general.)worst quality: Pretty much everything else.ship them with: Kemp. Maybe Thomas Marvel too were Griffin not so mean to him.brotp them with: …Kemp, too, I guess?needs to stay away from: Everyone.misc. thoughts: I pity him to a degree, but I do not and will probably never agree with anyone who tries to tell me that he’s better than his ‘33 film counterpart; he’s just a different flavor of asshole from his Claude Rains-portrayed counterpart, and I don’t trust anyone who tries to argue otherwise.
Dr. Jack Griffin (Claude Rains 1933 film version)
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | I’m kin with them to some degree (I’m sorry for sorta stealing this from you kara) | actual love of my lifehotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang (I love myself but not enough to bang me)hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff (Again, torn for similar reasons to the above, though I think his positive traits are more evident in this one. Also I could arguably see him as a Ravenclaw I suppose.)best quality: Oh gosh, that’s kinda tough… His voice is certainly a unique quality, and his ambition is about on par with that of his book counterpart, but I think what I like most about this take on him is how he cares about Flora and does not want her caught in the middle of this mess he’s gotten himself into. It’s a brief glimpse into a different side of him that the film never gets to show us elsewhere, and it’s the main reason why I can’t say he’s as bad as his book counterpart because at least there seems to have been a point where he wasn’t a terrible person.worst quality: I feel like his insistence that he could handle everything himself with no outside help played a big part in how things got as bad as they did for him, and also please stop killing people, Griffinship them with: Flora, of course. I’d add Kemp too, but… well…brotp them with: Again, I’d say Kemp, but that didn’t turn out well.needs to stay away from: Most everybody except maybe Flora, Dr. Cranley, and Kemp since at least the former two wanted to genuinely help him.misc. thoughts: He’s not better or worse than his book counterpart imho; he is his own thing, and I can respect that, and I kinda wish some other people could do the same. (coughcoughbookpuristscough)Also, after finding out about all the difficulties that Claude Rains went through behind the scenes just to film this (having to wear a stuff that made him barely able to hear anything, wearing a suit where they had to stick tubes up his nose just to breathe, working in a black velvet suit so that the special effects team could make the invisible effect work, fainting because of some of this) makes me appreciate his performance in this even more, especially as his first sound film. Also also, Jack’s bi as fuck. Oh yes, he undoubtedly treats and talks to Flora better than anyone else he encounters in the film, but there are some lines he has (mostly with Kemp) that seem very not-straight out-of-context (and arguably in-context even).
Dr. Jack Griffin (Monster AU version)
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | I’m kin with them to some degree (surprise) | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang (again, I love myself, but not enough to bang me)hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff (Torn again, even more so since we’ve tried making him more likable and have been giving him quite a bit of character development)best quality: He’s finally learning that keeping his problems and feelings to himself isn’t always a good idea and having him getting better about being more open with others is nice. Also, I love writing interactions for him, especially when it involves one of his partners.worst quality: He still has problems when it comes to interacting with others, but he’s at least learning, just like most everyone else in their monster group.ship them with: Arthur Kemp, Flora Cranley and Henry Jekyll are all his partners and he loves them all dearly.brotp them with: See above, as each one was very much a friends-to-lovers situation. He’s also starting to get along better with Rosemary, Henry’s fiancee. He’s also been slowly rebuilding his friendship with his brother Frank as well as building more trust with the rest of the people in the polycule Frank is in (those being Geoffrey Radcliffe, Kitty Carroll (his partners), and Helen Manson (his partners’ partner)).needs to stay away from: Rei (the first Phantom of the Opera in our AU), for a good while at least. They don’t exactly get along at first, and it takes a long time before they can interact without at least one of them figuratively jabbing at the other. I’d add Hyde, but most people know to stay away from him.misc. thoughts: I love him. I love writing for him. I love writing interactions that involve him. I don’t care if this deviates from the book version more than the ‘33 film did, I still love him.
And as a bonus, since I’ve headcanoned that his last name is Griffin
Claude Griffin (The Invisible Man from Mad Monster Party/Mad Mad Mad Monsters)
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | I’m kin with them to some degree | actual love of my life hotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang (fuck you, Yetch, he’s not nearly as ugly as you)hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff (I don’t think there’s any Griffin I’m aware of that could be considered to be a Hufflepuff.)best quality: He’s so Extra!worst quality: Mad Mad Mad Monsters reduced him to a henpecked husband that makes “marriage sucks” jokes and that is just awful.ship them with: Jekyll and Hyde. Probably the only Hyde ship I genuinely like, honestly.brotp them with: His son Ghoul and Boobula.needs to stay away from: Nagatha. I have no idea how they hooked up, but you can’t convince me that they wouldn’t both be much happier after getting a divorce and moving on with their lives.misc. thoughts: Mad Monster Party was a mixed bag but he was one consistently good thing about it and he really made it worth it to me.
I’m sorry this was so long, I have a lot of feelings about this character, and I love talking about him, so thank you so much for asking!
(Send me a character?)

I want to rant, i really do, but I go off topic really easy, so i'm going to save you the trouble. I still ranted anyways, F
The characters, the interactions, the descriptions and lack thereof descriptions, the use of words and my further researching and personal interpretation of this victorian novel has made it more loveable to me than i could have ever imagined.
I had first heard of the book when I was young (y'know, title and basic wikipedia search) and then i randomly encountered the 1955 full film and watched that. Came to actually read the book when I was finally out of highschool.
Fell in love with the very first sentence and character. Boring, dull, dusty, dreary, embarrassed in discourse, backwards in sediment, etc. was used to describe Mr. Utterson, yet somehow he was still loveable. I think personally I had immediately kinned a character for the first time in my life without knowing what kinned meant but tbh, kin isn't even the right word, I related with that man on so many levels it was wrong! And it was that hilarious contradicting description that I read on.
Continuing on we discover how loyal and ready he is to help his friend Dr. Jekyll, even getting nightmares about it. Then we soon meet Dr. Lanyon, a red-faced gent with a big smile and energetic vibes! Then I discovered that all three were long time school friends?? I'm an absolute wreck for that type of friendship in stories!
Carrying on, bits of the story were just funny to me, like reading a low-key comedy and sad story because Mr. Utterson is stalking his friend who had disguised himself with chemicals in the first part of the book and Lanyon gets a letter from his friend and goes 'shrug, yolo' then ends up literally getting sick from his own curiousity (and he's petty, although reasonably petty).
Like Jekyll isn't even split as a new person, he's just wearing a new face and has anger issues thank to his magical concoction that he thought was an okay idea to drink (I just imagine this nerd going out to do things he thinks is terrible although it's probably mostly petty crimes)(the murder situation seemed like 3rd degree, like he was in the moment, also by the way the story was being brought up in media I thought dude was a mass murderer and I was greatly shocked to discover that he only really killed one man, which in itself says alot about society; that's a joke...sort of).
Dude's (Jekyll) basically got anxiety most of the story when Utterson closes in on the situation and it's just gets sad in the end which is strange since this book is 96 pages but i got feelings quick. Like old times friends all just suddenly split without any control and just leaves Utterson alone, sad.
So I guess all in all, I really fell in love with the characters in the book. They were silly, some points were serious and sad and they leave quite alot of room to even invest your own headcannons for them (Like i did a whole analysis to try to figure out what was in HJ-7 at one point). And since they're also old, there is so much of a possibilty to figure out what they were like young! (Also there wasn't a love interest, it's so crazy to discover how many stories have love interests. I'm not hating on it, i love romance stories, but gosh...sometimes it's refreshing to just have frienships as motivation, although, mr. utterson only found out the truth instead of helping his friends).
So yeah.
Question time! Again!
Why do you personally like Jekyll and Hyde so much? Do you relate to it? Do you not? What about it makes it so special to you?
Am just curious, don’t mind me lol
I know why I like it, and I wanna see if other people share the same feeling as me. I also wanna discover other reasons to like it.

There is a nearly forgotten historical significance to St. Simons Island, Georgia, both for the survival of the original fledgling British colonies and one that is oddly also personal for us.
St. Simons Island is the site of Fort Frederica to the north and Fort St. Simons on the southern tip of the island, both of which served to guard Georgia against southern invasion by those pesky Spaniards who first settled Florida and felt entitled to lands further north.
Then there is Musgrove Plantation, a mysterious and remote plot of land near Fort Frederica, still owned by a member of the R.J. Reynolds tobacco family.
Musgrove Plantation hosts one of the country’s most exclusive resorts and crosses our family lineage somewhere in the dim (very dim) past through Mary Musgrove, who was instrumental in negotiating key indian treaties in the 1700’s, making initial British town settlements in the region possible.
I’ll talk about that later, but first, a little background about how this small island stood it’s ground in protecting the southern colonies that would later evolve into our southern American states.
Us standing with General Oglethorpe at Fort Frederica Museum, St. Simons
Georgia was the last of the original thirteen colonies to be established in America and was named in honor of King George II, by James Olgelthorpe, a British General and member of Parliament, who founded the colony there in part as a fortified buffer against Spanish incursions from Florida.
In the early 1700’s, Europeans referred to the land lying between British South Carolina and Spanish Florida as the “Debatable Land”. It’s important to recognize that America was first colonized from the bottom up, initially by an expansive Spanish land claim from explorer Ponce de Leon, which he named La Florida for the wonderful Spring flowers he found there around Easter time in the early 1500’s.
The first British colony came much later at Jamestown in Virginia in 1607.
The two forts of Frederica and St. Simons succeeded in rebuffing the Spanish in two major battles, at Gully Hole Creek and Bloody Marsh and on the road leading between them. The Spanish were sufficiently bruised and never returned, so the British claim on Georgia remained unchallenged.
Actually, America was established by a series of imperialistic land-grabs starting with the Spanish, then the British and later by the French. Imperialism has such a negative connotation, but in fact, most of the known world was civilized through imperialism, which hails from Latin and essentially means sovereignty obtained and retained through force. So these new British colonies were vulnerable and constantly under threat of seizure, particularly on the border between Georgia and Florida.
Fort Frederica stands in almost complete ruin today, but as we walked the old streets and park grounds we couldn’t help but be amazed at the hardship the British settlers there must have endured here on the then southern frontier of America.
Her silent cannons still guard the river, surrounded by mosquito and alligator infested swampland. But a sense of important history still hangs in the air around this national monument. You can get more info at the National Park Service website page for Fort Frederica.
Fort St. Simons is completely gone, now marked simply by a sign and one lone cannon.
It is better known for the site of the St. Simon’s Lighthouse. You can find more information on Fort St. Simons and the St. Simons Light house at: Fort St. Simons Historic Site – St. Simons Island, Georgia
But Oglethorpe a rich philanthropist, was smart to create the colony as a means to land ownership for Britain’s poor and he focused initially on those still residing in debtor’s prison.
Fetid swampland probably looked pretty good compared to jail and in return he received motivated residents who were willing to build fortifications there to boot.
Today, the upscale St. Simons Island along with it’s island neighbor Jekyll Island hardly offers a red carpet for the impoverished, which brings us to the second topic concerning Musgrove Plantation.
Mary Musgrove, nee Coosaponakeesa (good Jeopardy question), who was later married to John Musgrove, was half Creek Indian and related to members of their tribal leadership as the daughter of English trader Edward Griffin and his Creek Indian wife.
She and her husband John established and ran a successful deerskin trading post along the Savannah River in the pre-Georgia territory in 1716. Mary greatly assisted their business and Oglethorpe through her tribal connections and after her husband’s death she served as his principal interpreter in negotiating with the Creeks for settlement lands that became the town of Savannah Georgia and St. Simons Island.
By extension these laid the foundation for the crown colony through the stewardship of James Oglethorpe. Thus the state of Georgia, admitted 4th to the Union in 1788, owes a tremendous debt to Oglethorpe and the Musgroves.
In return for service to the British Crown the Musgroves were awarded over 500 acres of prime waterfront real estate. This, along with other previous and subsequent Musgrove land investments, made Mary one of the largest land owners in the region.
I had heard about the Musgrove Plantation through our family history of course and we traveled to St. Simons Island specifically to view this amazing resort. I had the misshapen idea that if we showed up on their doorstep and produced our “Musgrove” credentials, we might at least be granted access, or at best perhaps even discover they had been looking for the lost family connection to award us a shockingly huge inheritance!
Having hosted a US President and dignitaries from all over the world, one might expect a grand entrance to the estate, but the access road off Frederica Road was difficult to find and anything but ostentatious.
In fact, the access gate looked more like a padlocked service road to a dairy farm. Sigh.
However, one can apparently still book the resort for weddings and even Yoga retreats at the Musgrove Plantation website.
We enjoyed the journey here though and discovering the history of how one of our distant kin helped to found a state and (ahem) preserve a nation!
Embattled St. Simons Island There is a nearly forgotten historical significance to St. Simons Island, Georgia, both for the survival of the original fledgling British colonies and one that is oddly also personal for us.
