i can't believe it still takes several seconds for this stupid game to render your character in new clothes. also the fact that you can't even buy different clothes actually, you have a uniform. what you are buying are accessories. yeah you can choose a slightly different uniform, who the fuck cares. you can have other clothes if you buy the dlc. still anecdotic. how can you downgrade a game this much, this is baffling. and the fact that in this game, you don't even enter any buildings anymore. the fact that pokemon take fucking forever to render in the area you're it. if you're riding your legendary, chances are you might stumble on a random pokemon without realizing and start a fight, because it didn't fucking appear on the damn screen and it takes forever to flee because everything takes way too much time on this piece of sh

Oh god, here we go again...
PEOPLE.
PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY MEN WHO APPARENTLY WANT TO MARRY VIDEO GAME CHILDREN -
Localization
is
not
censorship.
Censorship is, per the ACLU, "the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are 'offensive'." Is anything being suppressed here?
Per Merriam-Webster, to suppress something means
Tumblr media
(The rest are related to the medical use of the term.)
So...
Nothing has been "suppressed." You can quite easily find the game in Japanese, or videos of it, or fan translations. Nobody has prohibited either the support from being seen, or your ability to choose to buy and play the game in Japanese. You absolutely can do that, if you choose. Worst that will happen is a customs charge. But nobody is going to seize the game and come to your front door to beat you before dragging you off to work yourself to death in a gulag. You are in no way being prevented from reading, knowing about, or playing the game in Japanese. At all.
Changing the Corrin/Soleil support in Fates?
Not censorship.
Choosing for whatever dingdong reason not to localize all of the Fates DLC?
Irritating as hell, but not censorship.
Changing some names when localizing?
Not censorship, and I honestly appreciate not having to try to keep a straight face when discussing the Wood and Nn supports in Awakening. I mean... we got the better deal there. Admit it.
Localization always changes things. Always. It has to, in order to make sense. And it should.
Who here has read the translation of Battle Royale (book, not manga)? And in particular, did you read it before the "remastered" version was released a few years ago?
It is incredibly faithful to the Japanese. Too much so. Because some parts don't make any sense at all in English. They reference phrases, ideas, and colloquialisms that do not exist in English.
A good localization finds the closest equivalency that conveys the same meaning, even if the words, reference, and origin of the phrase are totally different. If a phrase means "hope you enjoy dinner" in Language X, but if translated exactly is "the cows eat best before the full moon," that phrase likely means nothing in language Y. But Language Y has "the more you stir the pot, the better to taste the soup." And it is often said before meals that you want someone to enjoy. A-ha! Same meaning, different words. This is always, always, always how a good translation or localization works. It is not "censorship" to replace one phrase with another equivalent, it is making the damn story make sense to another audience who speaks a different language. This should happen. This does happen. This is NOT FUCKING CENSORSHIP.
Let's have some fun with this and my shit-level Italian!
I'm still trying to wrap my head around [whatever].
Direct translation, uh... Sto provando... avvolgere... in giro...mia testa?
"I'm trying to wrap around my head."
Hmmm...
"Sto provando avvolgere mia testa in giro?"
Okay, yep, we have literally, word-for-word, translated "I'm trying to wrap my head around" from English to Italian.
...Now I bother @lysissisyl.
Tumblr media
Yeah. Direct translation is the same words, but it makes no sense. Response was, "I'm... confused." (And then I'm like, "I know I know I know, I'm not stupid, that's my point!" 🤣)
Sto cercando di capire: okay, yeah, this actually makes sense to say "I'm trying to understand," which means the same thing as the idiomatic "I'm trying to wrap my head around [whatever]."
But it's not a direct translation of the latter. Because sometimes, an exact, word-for-word translation, especially of an idiom, DOES. NOT. MAKE. SENSE.
Capeesh?
Tumblr media
Fine. Capisce?
😜
...Still not censorship.
Localization changes may also reflect what is seen as acceptable in a certain time and place for one society versus another. For instance, some Japanese games (especially those marketed directly to children) had references to alcohol (either in picture or text) changed by Nintendo of America. Even Mario and Pokemon did this. And I know a lot of you are too young to remember the controversy over Mortal Kombat in the early 90s, but it was bonkers. Kids will start slaughtering each other in the streets unless we change the blood to green! Uh... okay, then. In that case, the change was in the Japanese release of Mortal Kombat II.
Also keep in mind this innocence-gutting, banned, civilization-altering game that was going to instantly turn little Johnny from a straight-A student who rescued baby bunnies on weekends and every night went to the local nursing home to read bedtime stories for all the residents (when he wasn't curing cancer) into Ted Bundy 2.0 with a side of Pazuzu looked like... this:
Tumblr media
In 1992 (or anytime until the early 2000s), an argument could be made that it was censorship. It was much, much more prohibitively difficult to track down foreign copies of games then, especially before the internet, and while you might get lucky if you happened to live in San Francisco, or New York, or Paris, or wherever, if you were verge-of-evil little Johnny in Bumfuck Corntown, Iowa, good luck.
A lot of games then weren't even considered for international release. And in many cases, again, especially before the internet, how would you even know??? Consider the confusion over Final Fantasy - original release in 1987 in Japan, 1990 in the US, and everywhere else? Eh, whatever, you get nothin'. Then Japan has several more, up to Final Fantasy IV, and the US gets it as Final Fantasy II, and then Final Fantasy VI was Final Fantasy III, and when Final Fantasy VII came out, everybody and their dog was now completely confused about whatever the fuck was going on (except the Japanese, I guess). 😅 Fire Emblem was Japanese-only until Marth "just the tip" and Roy "master of gingers" got enough people interested to see a US and Europe release of... Fire Emblem VII, which had neither Marth nor Roy.
Tumblr media
Point being: yeah, translations, graphic and text changes, and access at all were very, very different beasts up until roughly 2000-ish (probably closer to 2005, but this is getting long and I need to go wash my hair and so I'm going to keep it simple, stupid 😘).
It wasn't always "censorship," in the sense that you would be prohibited from accessing or knowing of other versions, it was simply before finding out about the changes or easily getting your hands on a foreign copy (or finding fan ROMs and translations online) were possible for a lot of people. Many probably never even knew, at the time, that weird changes had been made. (With the exception of Mortal Kombat, which led to mass slaughter on playgrounds around the world, was a gateway drug to marijuana and then prostituting yourself at 13 to buy more of the devil's lettuce, and ultimately led to the death of all 3 billion adults in the world when Little Johnny emerged from hiding with his mecha senior citizens and army of bunnies. It was a rough time. Wouldn't recommend it.)
Anyway -
Point of all this? Localization makes changes. It often has to to make sense. That's not censorship.
Adjusting dialogue or plot points to reflect what is considered acceptable in another market? Also not censorship, unless you're somehow banned from accessing foreign copies. (Which reminds me of this glorious story I read a few years ago about some British teenagers going on the run from police to watch a contraband copy of... okay, I can't remember, one of the Video Nasties, I'll try to figure what it was later. It wasn't Douglas Ralston's book, that's all I know for sure. I don't read Douglas Ralston. Like him okay even if he can make me look self-controlled at times, have had some funny chats with him, do not like his style of extreme horror.)
Basically - I do not believe in blanket censorship. I don't want to play the new, hyper-realistic Mortal Kombat with fatalities to make S. Craig Zahler flinch; I don't want to watch Terrifier 2; I don't want to read 50 Shades of Grey. But I also don't want them censored. I'm not being tied down and my eyes forcibly kept open to make me watch things, a la A Clockwork Orange (which I still wasn't allowed to watch at, like, 16 years old 🙄), and it doesn't hurt me in the slightest for Cannibal Ferox, Postal 2, or the aforementioned books by Douglas Ralston to exist.
And back to the original point - do I want to marry an 11-year-old (or promise to wait until an 11-year-old is of age so my 17-year-old character can marry her) in a video game? Not particularly. Would I not play Fire Emblem if that had remained in in foreign/English versions? Nah - it's fiction. I wouldn't want to pursue that particular S-support, and yeah, it's pretty ew, but no actual 11-year-olds were hurt by it (and Monica Rial, who voices Anna in English in Engage, is very much an adult). I was also a little squicked out by some decisions made in FE games (and other games, to be fair) in the past. It happens. (I don't care what kind of monstrous Morgan I can produce, I am not S-supporting Robin and Nah. I don't judge those who do, but I'm not comfortable with it in my games. But I also know some people found Robin S-supporting the second gen, and the whole Byleth-and-students situation, to be uncomfortable, and that's their business, because it didn't bother me in the slightest.)
To circle back around to my original point: censorship comes with a generous side helping of suppression. And that's not happening here. The controversy flaired up (just as it did in Awakening, and Fates, and...) because people have ready access to different versions of the game. Including the ability to import. Or, honestly, play with a pirated copy and a fan translation patch. 🤷‍♀️ Until 20-ish years ago, the majority of players wouldn't have even realized what had been done, because accessing foreign copies was difficult, expensive, and often required a broker willing to act as go-between between you and another country. Things like the Mortal Kombat situation being discussed in mainstream news was an outlier, not the norm.
This isn't censorship. In either direction, you aren't required to like it. But you also cannot just redefine terms to suit your self-appointed righteous anger. Drop it already, non rompere il cazzo... 😝

I think there's something to be said about how Pokemon SwSh was literally priced out of a lot of people's ability to get it around launch (60 dollars for an unfinished game, and it's now clear that the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra were just the postgame of Galar that got pushed back to be 30$ DLC bc they knew pokemon fans would buy it to get their single complete game).
It's not DLC that's optional to enjoying the experience, exploring side areas and hunting down legendary Pokemon is a core part of the pokemon game loop enough that it's been a part of every region in this decades-long series, the fact that there's only 10 routes and 4 route themes (1 with no pokemon, several being laughably short and not really considerable as routes) + the 2 Wild Areas and their 2 themes (some of the only real "routes" in the game), vs the avg of 18+ routes and 6+ themes in the base region of every pokemon game, it's apparent that these were meant to be the side areas of the game but weren't finished in time and/or were purposefully paywalled (if Celeste and Shovel Knight can make entire game modes and chapters as free DLC, the literal most profitable series on the damn planet can too and still pay their workers lots, if that's what they actually were interested in doing). The only legendaries in Galar at base are the 3 story legendaries (only 2 catchable), that's less than the original Kanto games. The 9 legendaries (and every other legendary in the game) introduced in the Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor are just the standard side area legendaries of each region.
These games were literally shipped unfinished and the full game cost over twice as much as a game in the series previously cost. A lot of people couldn't play them at launch, and a lot of the hate towards them were for that reason and totally justified. It never fails to get me just how vehemently people defended these games on launch, like nobody is making you kiss the most profitable series in the world's boots, you don't have to defend this. Pokemon would be a lot better if they weren't restricted to their 3 year release schedule and could actually finish their games on time, and we've seen the natural endpoint of this problem we were warning about with how buggy and rushed the games since SwSh have been.

spending money diary again sorry
so this week is payday and i already have things i need to get lol
by need i mean Need. i Need to buy 4 packs of hangers bc i am OUT and i have a bundle of clothes that's been sitting on my chair for weeks now lol. i Need to maybe get another hamper for clothes i can wear again after a quick outing. i Need to get aoife an elevated food stand thing? thing that holds her food Up on a tray so she doesn't have to lean over all the way bc i think that might be another reason why she isn't enjoying her food lately.
things i'm getting because i Want them
i have to preorder chuu's sgb it's SO CUTE i need to get it again. the cake theme was made for me. i have to preorder yves' new album too but if i preorder it from the same place as chuu's sgb it won't ship out until early december OTL so i'm gonna have to get it from ktown. obvs i'm getting the set! for the pobs! she's so cute i need her,, i'll order irene's album at the same time, too, i can wait for them even though it might be another 'sent out in december' set  i have to double-check the dates on them. if they're close enough i might just get all 3 from ktown (unless the sgb is only from everline).
i've kinda gotten into the pocalbums/smaller album types that focus on less packaging. idk every company calls them something different but you know, the little ones! so i might get a few more for older albums i liked but don't have enough actual space for + i already own the CD. i don't trust apps enough to ONLY buy a 'digital' copy of the music. so i do need to buy tzuyu's digipack at some point before it leaves my work lol but yeah!
hm, i preordered twice's next album from my work but that's not gonna be for another month so it's whatever. i like all the versions that got announced! so whichever ones my work stocks i'll pick up a couple but i'm not gonna exceed my maximum of 5 types per comeback lol i do NOT actually need that many CDs.
i also need to find itzy's latest album, preorders sold out before i could get one from my work so hopefully we have some in stock...didn't get the chance to preorder imaginary friend either bc i had to pay aoife's vet bill that was infinitely more important!
let's see...cix announced their sgb theme and it sucks again so i probably won't get it. my 2nd fave member also left the group this year and while i wish him the best i don't really want to get the sgb if he's not in it </3 haven't seen signs of sgb from any of the other groups i follow so hopefully those get announced soon. i know for sure i want to get looble's sgb. i feel bad about missing artms stuff all the damn time but i'll get them eventually...it's not a race!! >.<;
other things i'm waiting for are the llsif kuji pulls i did in the summer and then some pokemon toys i got from a box split group  i kind of want to sell some of the gacha toys i got from my work because i'm not a fan of the characters i pulled. might take some setting up on mercari but i could do it...probably...maybe next year.
and i STILL want to get the SV dlc. i might buy the card for it and hang on until i finish the academy questlines :more_thinking:. i'm really grateful to Neo for selling me the Violet base game for so cheap lol i don't mind spending the $35 on the dlc as much...i should also buy the dlc for acnh as well even though i don't play anymore...because i'll go back to it eventually!

baratrongirl replied to your post “Really do not understand why GameFreak took out the Hall of Fame...”
I'd be interested to hear what you don't like about Sword/Shield. For me, it's quite the opposite. I played the hell out of the 3rd and 4th Gens, then struggled to finish White and didn't buy White 2. Didn't finish SoulSilver, or whichever of X or Y I got, and became completely bored about 10 hours into Alpha Sapphire despite being all motivated to play the game with my original Sapphire team only now I know what I'm doing. Didn't even BUY Sun/Moon.
Then I hung out with my Pokemon friends over Sword/Shield launch weekend, watched them playing on the TV, and had to immediately borrow a spare Switch so I could play too. By the end of the weekend I'd bought the Switch and paid to download my own copy of Shield. I have a few issues with it, mostly relating to the lack of clothing options for male characters, but otherwise I'm finding it the blast of fresh air that I needed to get back into the Pokemon games.
I’ve heard a lot of people say something similar, that SwSh was a nice upgrade from the past couple gens. I started slipping around XY - didn’t wanna buy a 3DS and didn’t until Omega Ruby came out, since Ruby was the first one I’d played - and after I finished the Team Flare plot of X I just gave up for three years and only last year finished the 8th gym and the league. I honestly don’t remember much of playing OR. I think it was a weird kind of frantic nostalgia-fueled haze but I genuinely cannot comment on what I liked about that game. It’s a blank in my memory. Really enjoyed Sun and Moon, like Sword but get bummed the longer I think about it. But I did buy it because I did see a ton of people saying it was a change they were enjoying, quality-of-life upgrades, fun new features, etc. Different strokes and all.
My biggest gripe on Sword is that the world feels pretty empty. Besides the Wild Area, and its few secluded corners, though it’s really a straightforward place, there’s nothing to explore. The plot grabs you by the hand and pulls you to every location. There’s nothing off-the-way that you don’t go to for the main plot. There’s nothing like Kanto’s Power Plant, or Alola’s Power Plant - which I didn’t even realize was there on my first pass through, and then I was like “hey what’s this little place, OH MY GOD WHAT THERE’S MORE STUFF HERE.” The region is a linear loop. There’s no weird little caves that aren’t plot relevant that you get scrambled up in. There’s nowhere that’s locked until you beat the League, like the other half of Poni Island or those last upper bits in Unova or the Battle Frontier in Sinnoh. I had canvassed the Wild Area for everything by the time I went to the final tournament. There’s nowhere else to go. Sure I went back through the Wild Area to catch more stuff to fill out my Pokedex, but new places? Nothing. There’s nowhere to go back to once you can cross water except the little lake by the professor’s house. Not like in Sun/Moon where there’s bits on prior islands to go back to with Lapras. That cave underneath the starting island to go check out I’m thinking of. Galar is a pretty bare-bones region and the Wild Area doesn’t fully compensate.
Which ties to my other biggest gripe, which is, there are three legendary Pokemon in the game and one of them is the opposite version’s exclusive that you can’t get. Two legendary Pokemon! Two legendary Pokemon you can catch! And you catch them both in the course of the plot! There’s nothing like the Regi trio hidden by batshit puzzles, or Cobalion/Terrakion/Virizion tucked in out-of-the-way corners. No wandering Lati@s or beast trio. No Tapus or anything. You can catch two legendary Pokemon.
I think we really peaked back in Gen 3 with its visual Braille puzzles and Gen 4 with whatever the everloving fuck the Turnback Cave was on about. The weird locations that hurt your brain. I miss those. I miss the tricky caves you get lost in and spend time figuring it out. Galar didn’t have caves. The mines were basically a straight shot, yknow? When I’d like to go deeper and have more to explore instead of feeling like I’m taking a walking tour of the whole region.
And the DLC looks like it’ll deal at least with that point with more legendaries, which really grinds my gears. In all the discourse about whether or not the DLC is good or bad or neutral, whether the price of video games has needed to go up or the DLC is cheaper than a third version but some people wait for the third version, which I didn’t seek out said discourse but saw pass me by on Twitter, I saw no one mention that we’re paying to get more than two legendary Pokémon and I felt like I was losing my mind for a little while there. I feel like I’m paying extra for something that’s been in every game since the beginning of time, that being more than two legendary Pokémon that I can catch.
And my lesser little gripes: level balance of the game felt a little wonky with the wild Pokemon toward the end higher leveled than all the trainers except Leon, and the always-on exp share made it worse because when I dragged out the plot by catching everything in the Wild Area, my team got way overleveled for the back half of the game and I could curbstomp everyone that passed me. Team Yell were an egregious roadblock and while Pokemon has always had those, the prominence of Team Yell was exasperating. I prefer environmental roadblocks, like water and back when we used to have other HMs, those feel a little better than two dudes standing in the middle of a wide road.
And why, oh WHY, did GameFreak downgrade after XY and only have fitting rooms in boutiques instead of also in Pokemon Centers? I don’t want to fly to another town to change my clothes! Not every town has a clothes shop but everywhere has a Pokemon Center! I was crusading on this point through Sun/Moon and I will not be stopped until GameFreak puts changing rooms back in Pokemon Centers! (They will probably never do that but I refuse to stop. Forget Dexit; this is the real issue of our time.)
I didn’t mind the limited Pokémon at release because I never transfer my teams thru the games anyway - I’m a sentimental anxious idiot afraid of decisions and commitment and I can’t commit to the one-way transfers to move my teams up to new games. And that plus the Wild Area having trade-evolution Pokemon walking around made me feel like completing my pokedex was actually attainable. So I did!
I don’t hate the game, but I am disappointed by it. I’ve never been a Battle Tower or shiny-hunting person, but I’ve ended up doing those because I don’t know what else to do.
So that’s my opinion on why SwSh has bummed me out more as time goes on, since you were curious.
(Joker from Mass Effect 2 when you ask him for gossip about your teammates voice: “But that’s just my opinion, no need to go spreading it around.” ;) I’ll gladly chat with friends but the poke-discourse got too intense on twitter and I am not inviting that kind of bad energy into our lives. None of us deserve that.)
I’ve still got a lot of endgame stuff for Sun and Moon, UB hunting and I haven’t made it to the Battle Tree yet because my Moon team is getting its ass kicked by everything because I turned the exp share off and overcompensated in the wrong direction and am chronically underleveled. There’s a certain charm for me in being underleveled because I used to have endless patience to overlevel my team to extremes because my childhood anxiety was something like “if I die in the game I die in real life???” and I was terrified of losing and now I’m like “blacks out twice in a row in Moon as I go toward the postgame stuff yolo”. So when I feel like playing Pokemon I’ll probably spend more time in Alola, when I’m not trying to hatch that damn shiny Rookidee because I accidentally committed to that.

Mod K here, willing to take a shot at this. Shared accounts have some weird rules. I know messages not allowed, and think asks might not be either. I'll ask Jumin if they feel up to it too.
1. Absolutely. Want the collectables.
2. Hmm, loyalty is a hard thing in this day and age. I suppose Game freak, as have played all the mainline pokemon games but lets go pikachu/eevee. Still, did not like the turn for monetization in S&S. To be able to gigantamax with friends or nearby people, you need Nintendo online a service that is $5 canadian a month, or $25 a year. It also blocks wondertrading. To buy the game its self is $80, closer to $90 with tax new. Gigantamax was supposed to be a selling point of the game, and you have to pay for it. Then maybe you want to do trading. You can get the free version of pokemon home, with limited features, most damning the number of pokemon that can be deposited. To do a lot of deposit and trading you could get +, sorry premium, for $16. And S&S was kind of like X and Y, not the most story heavy entry in the series, or solidist, but introduced some new pokemon and features. If the features they keep for the games going forward are paying for features that were once free, I'm going to be mad. Then they also gave DLC, $38 for an expansion pass. For a feature that would have been post game on a DS version. Or an event. I get to pay to visit new areas, with new Pokemon, a reward I could previously get for beating the game. So $90+38 for the game content at $128 then $25+16= $41 for a years worth of doing stuff with people online. And its the pandemic. Making it $169 if my math is right. Plus any tax I forgot.
Nintendo, you don't need to compete, you are already setting your own standards. Your known for making solid games. Breath of the wild rarely goes on sale despite being old enough to have originally come out as a WiiU game,it has not really come down in price over time. None of your big games really tend to anymore, and buying old nintendo games years later, tend to have some of the highest prices for resale value. You don't need to have people pay for features that were previously free. You are selling better then ever, you don't need cash grabs. You don't need DLC. People are paying $90 for it new, so just make a solid game please.
Which gives me mixed feelings on BDSP. On one hand, glad this region is getting a remake. I have felt that the DS antagonists and stories were pretty solid ones in the series, and glad to see the region getting more love. On the other hand, DPP the first DS game of the Pokemon series. The first time where you could trade over the world without travelling, the first time where you didn't need a link cable to trade between games. It really opened up the world of pokemon trading. The GTS had its problems. People asking for unreasonable trades, hacked trades, and really odd ones. But put a reasonable trade out there, and someone would find it. So it makes me feel kind of sad to have BDSP coming out in a time where a majority of the trading is behind paywalls.
3. Best is subjective to my ADHD moods. Some days I might say Horizon Zero Dawn, others I might say Fire Emblem Awakening, To the Moon,or even a final fantasy.
4. Fobia. I put the time in to complete it, but retrospectively it wasn't worth it.
5. None that come to mind right now, but I am refusing to get into Geshin impact. It looks good, have heard rave reviews, but I already have enough games on my phone, and feel sick of games asking me for money,as you might have guessed from above.
6. Hmm. Changed the most? Not quite sure what you mean. Plenty have had an emotional impact on me. Final fantasy tactics advanced I guess got me into tactical style characteristic of Fire emblem. And pretty into FF and FE. Which leads to things like crying over Zack Fairs death, and other amazing and sad moments. Sure its probably not the most well remembered today, but it stuck with me.
7. Again, not the most well known, but probably Jenne D'arc. A wacky little psp game that tells the most anime version ever of Joan of Arc. Featuring demonic possession, fighting both england and demonic warriors from ancient times, magical armlet transformation, animal people and elves that discriminate against them, OP archery skills (skydart anyone), and a giant purple frog. Among other things.
8. No fair. Soundtracks are pretty good. How am I to pick just one. Maybe just a pokemon one. Gen 3 music is my fav, and while RSE is good, Pokemon colosseum has a soundtrack that has just stuck with me hard.
9. FFBEX, or FEH. Not because I don't like the music, so much as to preserve battery on my phone. Mobile games in general.
10. KH union X was also ultimately something I put a lot of time into on my phone, and lost the file when it went down. So much for google play. Never picked it up again. (This was before accounts on it)
11. I don't tend to be good at shooters. Not great aim. So maybe the last of us, given how bad some of my stealth attempts could get lol.
12. I played to the moon straight overnight. Couldn't put it down. The emotions. I'm no speed runner.
13. Some of the DS pokemon titles probably. And maybe 13 verses (lol). I don't tend to get too hype anymore, but am looking forward to seeing Horizon Dawn Forbidden West.
14. I'll be honest, I'm cool without voice acting where they don't have it. In a reverse of the question, where would you want subtitles where they don't have them?
15. I think Bioshock and Assassins creed would make an amazing crossover. A major worldbuilding aspect of Bioshock is reusing and revolutionizing genetic material, and a major plot point of assassins creed is viewing history through genetic material. So Desmond Miles being an Ex little sister in the way of Eleanor Lamb, and so being one person who can take others genetic material without major long term physical side effects... Well more then already happened. Oh boy, what would both sides want to do with that. Or, the one time where rule 63 is plot crucial.
16. I try not to hate the character, but get mad at the creators for doing it to them. Do kind of get upset when they restrict me in ways I don't feel is needed (morgana let me out) or insult my other party members. But hate is a strong word.
17. You assume I talk to a lot of people. I also run a blog where I post pics from stuff I play. I have a variety of games some of which I have never brought up in convo. For instance, a series of unfortunate events. For movie tie ins, I did like them. The inventions were neat, the style between gamecube and gameboy was different, and I actually liked playing both of them. Except for the part where it switched to a first person shooter in the gamecube version. That part sucked and was mandatory for plot.
18. I don't know. Go play the sims Urbz Gameboy. Best plot to me. Starts with you being fired and ends with time travel. Bustin out had funnier dialogue options, and Sims 2 gba TV plot style was genuinely neat.
19. I want to play eternal darkness from the gamecube era. And maybe get that sequel the creator tried to make lol.
20. Maybe an older one, but my earliest one I remember was a GBA copy of finding nemo. Back when the levels were gotten to by codes you wrote down. That and his pokemon Emerald.
21. Idk, maybe 8?
22. I used to want to imagine myself in a lot of them, but I've grown up enough to know I would not like the rules and rights existing in most of them. Would Gaia, Spira,or any of the FF worlds be beautiful. Sure, but theres often a sadness in that beauty. Crystal Chronicles was gorgeous for its time, but also full of danger in its air. Would it be cool to see history through an ancestor. Sure, but not at the cost of kidnapping, brain damage, or recruitment. If I did find myself in one, I would probably explore, while trying to stay inconspicuous. Try out some of the food. Shoot, if I had a camera.
23. I'm sure theres plenty, but off the top of my head, the limitations of Noctis's teleporting powers.
24. Middle to casual usually.
25. Yes. Walk through walls and others especially to get the pokemon events in DPP. Pearl. One time it glicthed so bad that it was permanently night, and all the doors were permalocked. Had to restart from that one. Was sad to lose some of the pokemon there.
26. Both.
27. Yes. When you get attached to a character and they die. It works because the game has taken time to build attachment. And sometimes its just that emotional. To the moon was beautiful.
28. I kind of want the indestructible quality of their clothes. My fashion would be a lot more interesting if I were dressing up like video game characters lol.
29. Hmm a good story can keep people invested despite mediocre and sometimes bad gameplay, but there doesn't always need to be much a story to have engaging gameplay and have that be enough.
30. Atlus, I am begging you, give persona's 1&2's a full western rerelease.2 Eternal punishment only came out on the ps1, and the others came out on the psp. I'm playing on emulation, because I can't find the parts to fix it. Or even just take all the psp games with a bit better graphics, translate 2EP, and resell them to a new generation like pheonix wright. The story is good pretty good, the difficulty could have scales to cater to those who want old school, and the music is great. Leave that alone, or at least offer the option to switch like you did in ISpsp.
As for stuff that has never been translated, SMT If, that unofficially started the persona games. Or some of the untranslated Devil summoners. Speaking of SMT, get yours off the 3DS shop while you can, as the nintendo E 3DS shop is going down next year I think.

1-70 do em all! 😁💙
I’m seriously so sorry this took so long, but it was so much fun!! thank you!!! Also it’s super long so I’m gonna put it under a readmore!
1. First game you played obsessively?
Jak & Daxter! 2. A game that has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc.Lmao I’m not exactly a creative person, but when I was little I tried coming up with and drawing my own pokemon. They were… bad3. Who did you play with as a kid?My brother! At first I stole his Gameboy Color whenever he wasn’t using it, but then he saved up and bought a PS2 so we could play games together4. Who do you play with now?No one really lol. I kinda prefer to play single-player games now? But I’ll play with various friends when we hang out.5. Ever use cheat codes? When I was little, yeah! Especially in the Sly Raccoon games 6. Ever buy strategy guides? Before the age of unlimited free online strategy guides I did, now I just use said online ones7. Any games you have multiple copies of?Yep, I’ve “lost” games only to find them again after replacing them like… four times? It happened with Oblivion, Fable 3, DA: Origins, and, weirdly enough, that one obscure (but fun imo!) wii game, Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon8. Rarest/Most expensive game in your collection? This one was hard! After a teeny bit of research, I narrowed it down to either Rule of Rose, LoZ Collector’s Edition on Gamecube, and pokemon red and yellow9. Most regrettable purchase?Hhhhhhhh I bought the video game for the 2006 Dreamworks movie Over the Hedge. I was only 12, but I still should’ve known better :(10. Ever go to a midnight game release or stand in line for hours?I’ve gone to a few midnight releases, but none that have lasted for hours, luckily. I only started going to them in the last few years, so the only ones I’ve been to so far are Fallout 4, DA:I and uh… ME:A (I KNOW)11. Have you ever made new friends from playing video games?Nah not really, I don’t play online games, so. I have friends who play video games, but I’ve never met someone BECAUSE of video games12. Ever get picked on for liking games?Lol no?13. A game you’ve never played that everyone else has?Overwatch14. Favorite game music?NIER, hands down. 15. If it was a requirement to get a game related tattoo, what would you pick?Probably something cute and harmless like the leaf from Animal Crossing lol16. Favorite game to play with your friends IRL?Lately we’ve been really into Towerfall: Ascension and Screencheat17. Ever lose a friend over a game?Wh—no????18. Would you date someone that hates gaming? So long as they didn’t try to “forbid” me from playing and so long as we had other interests to bond over, then sure. It’d be kind of a bummer though lol19. Favorite handheld console?Idk that I have one! Maybe the Switch, since that’s the most recent and popular?20. Game that you know like the back of your hand?Silent Hill 3 and DA:I21. Game that you didn’t like or understand as a kid but love now?The Civilization games22. Do you wear game related clothing/accessories?Sometimes, yeah. Nothing too embarrassing, though. 23. The game that you’ve logged the most hours into? What, like… ever?? Geez, I dunno… probably Oblivion?24. First Pokemon game?Yellow!25. Were you ever an arcade game player?I actually wasn’t really :/26. Ever form any gaming rivalries?Oh yeah, with my brother. He’s 6 years older than me, which pretty much guaranteed I got my ass kicked in every game we played when I was younger27. Game that makes you rage?Bloodborne and Dark Souls!!!!!! I swear I try to go back and play them at least once a year, and I can never get past the first hour :(28. Ever play in a tournament? Not like an official one, but ones with friends, yep29. What is your gaming set up?Imma be real with you chief I don’t know nearly enough about computers to answer this question with anything other than “a computer”30. How many consoles do you own?Ohohoho far too many31. Does the 3DS and/or Virtual Boy hurt your eyes or give you headaches?I’ve never had the 3D slider up long enough to tell, but that probably means yes lol32. Did you ever play a game based on your favorite show/cartoon/movie/comic?BOY when I was in first grade I played Spongebob: Supersponge on Gameboy advance so much I STILL remember the password that lets you skip to the final stage (it’s WMBT) 33. Did you ever have any bootleg games or plug-n-play games?nah 34. Do either of your parents play video games?PFFF GOD NO. Although my mom does love Animal Crossing. Not playing it, but just like it’s whole deal. 35. Ever work in a game store? Or do you have a favorite game shop?No and no, tbh36. Have you ever shed actual blood, sweat or tears over a game?I… don’t think so? Maybe I’ve cried over a game, but blood?? Put the controller down, y’all37. Have you played E.T. for the Atari 2600? Do you think that’s the worst game ever, or do you have another nomination?NO NO NO OVER THE HEDGE (2006) FOR THE PS2 IS THE SINGLE WORST GAME EVER MADE FIGHT ME ON THIS38. A game you’re ashamed to admit that you like?Oh lord… idk if anyone’s ever played any of Ambition’s dating sims (Dream Girlfriend, Dream Boyfriend, Animal Boyfriend, and Moe Can Change) but I’ve literally been playing them for about… 5-ish years now? They’re seriously the worst, I fucking love them 39. A sequel that you would die for them to make?Hmm… Maybe a new Kingdoms of Amalur game would be cool? 40. What to you think of virtual reality headsets or motion controls?I love VR but the last time I tried it at a friend’s place I fucking faceplanted after leaning on a counter I forgot was also virtual and the first thing my friend asked was whether the headset was ok, so that stung. As for motion controls, they’re fun but they can be a real pain41. A genre that you just can’t get into?Sports games 42. Maybe it wasn’t your first game, but what was the game that started you on your path to nerdiness? The path to what43. Ever play games when you really should have been concentrating on something else?Oh yeah, who hasn’t?44. Arcade machine that has consumed the most of your quarters?Idk if this counts but I am a MASTER at the claw machine and that stacker game. My closet is full of useless shit I’ve won from those things45. How are you at Mario Kart?OH SO FUCKING GOOD YOU HAVE NO IDEA46. Do you like relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon?yesssss I love them47. Do you like competitive games?I mean like I said, I mostly prefer single-player games, but I do enjoy the occasional co-op game48. How long does it take your to customize your player character?about an hour49. In games where you can pick your class, do you always tend to go for the same type of character?I actually don’t! If it’s a game I’m not confident I’ll be good at, I pick whichever class is recommended for beginners, and that changes from game to game. Alternatively, I just go through phases where I prefer a specific class above others 50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create?Christ I have no idea. Maybe a first-person escape game? idk51. Have you ever played a game for so long that you forgot to eat or sleep?NO?? DAMN ARE Y’ALL OK????52. A game that you begged your parents for as a kid?Literally any M game; my parents were strictly “No M games until you’re old enough!” I just got my brother to buy them most of the time though lol53. What’s your opinion on DLC these days? Most DLC is fine, it’s microtransactions in “pay-to-win” games that I fucking hate. 54. Do you give in to Steam sales?HAHAHAHAHA yeah absolutely 55. Did you ever make someone you hated in the Sims and did mean stuff to them?N-No??? 56. Did you ever play Roller Coaster Tycoon and kill off your guests?Ok yeah I did do that 57. Did you ever play a game to 100% or get all of the achievements?Ew no58. If you can only play 3 games for the rest of your life, which ones do you pick?Ooooh… ok, Oblivion, My Time in Portia, and Divinity 259. Do you play any cell phone games?I do! I play a lot of escape games, and uh… the Ambition games mentioned previously60. Do you know the Konami Code?Is that the up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A? Huh, I never knew it had a name!61. Do you trade in your games or keep them forever?I used to trade them in occasionally, but mostly I keep them 62. Ever buy a console specifically to play one game?Yeah the Switch for BotW. Not proud of it, but it was worth it63. Ever go to a gaming convention or tournament? nah64. Ever make a TV or monitor purchase based on what would be best for gaming?Yep! 65. Ever have a Game Genie, Game Shark or Action Replay? Did it ever mess up your game’s save file?OHHHH MY GOD YEAH, I’M STILL FUCKING PISSED ABOUT IT. I had GameShark for Gameboy and PS2, but that one was fine, it didn’t cause any problems. It was ACTION FUCKING REPLAY that fucked me over. I used it for KH2 and it worked the whole time until literally THE VERY LAST XEMNAS FIGHT, when my HP bar suddenly dropped to 1??? Not my HP, mind you, the HP BAR. Meaning 1 HP was the most I could have. Literally fuck action replay >:( 66. Did you ever have have an old Nokia with Snake on it?nope67. Do you have a happy gaming-related childhood memory you want to share?I do! The very first thing I ever saved up money for to buy myself was Pokemon Crystal version. Until then I’d just been borrowing (re:stealing) my brother’s, but when I was 5 and Crystal was about to come out, my parents made me a deal that if I saved up $15, they’d pay the other $15 and I could get it! It was the first time I was working towards a fun goal, so it was all pretty exciting for 5-year-old me lol. It’s dumb, I know, but it’s something I look back on fondly68. Ever save up a ton of tickets in an arcade to get something cool?Lol nah, I think the best thing I ever got with tickets was a cheap snowglobe 69. In your opinion, best game ever made? UHHHH GOD. That’s… super tough. I’m genuinely not sure I have an answer tbh. I’m really into Divinity 2 right now but best game ever made?? Idk! that’s a hard one!!!! 70. Very first game you ever beat? I won’t lie, it was Spongebob: Supersponge on GBA

Thoughts on E3
Only saw bits and pieces of EA, apparently there was tons of sports games. I can’t really say anything on that
Microsoft. Fallout 76 looks, so far. Even if it ends up being a glitchy mess as usual, I’m still going to buy it. Holy crap! Cup Face is getting DLC. That’s pretty cool. What the fuck was with that “gamer chat” on the Division 2? No one fucking talks like that (stating the obvious, I know). If I played any of the Kingdom Hearts games, I’d probably be excited as hell for the 3rd game coming out. With that updated Elsa models, does this mean we’re going to get higher quality Elsa/Spidered-Mang videos? :DDDD. Jump force looks pretty cool. I’m interested to see what Light is going to be able to do. A huge improvement over last year, where they actually announced games one after another. Microsoft did alright. B-/10 Bethesda: first 20 minutes bored the living fuck out of me. I know nothing about Rage nor do I care for that Elder Scrolls card game. Oh fuck, DOOM Eternal got announced. I was kinda hoping they’d call it DOOM 5 but that’s minor. Prey looks pretty fun, interesting take on having it so that every death the player has influences the game, also spin me right round :DDDDD. Oh fuck yes! Wolfenstein gets a Switch release. Shooting nazis on the go is going to be good, but I get the strongest feeling it’s going to have a very rough start like the Switch port of DOOM. Oh my fucking god, best piss take on Skyrim ever. I’m really liking how self aware Todd was about his “fixation” to Skyrim.  Fallout 76 has a interesting concept, thank god it’s not another Battle Royale game. Also friggin’ Elder Scrolls 6!  Most of the games look really fun. I’d give them a B/10 Sony: Missed the first half, it showed Last of Us, which is neat. Holy fuck!!! Resident Evil 2 is getting remade! Well at least we got a better idea what Death Stranding could be, but c’mon! Give a release date. Spidered-Mang the game looks so damn fast paced. In a good way. There was so much games announced, but no release date. I’d give it a C+/10 Nintendo: That mech game looks fun, kinda like if Metal Gear Rising went for mechs instead of man vs tons of machines. Xenoblade 2: Electric Boogaloo: Torna. I’m very ://////// about it, the story to 2 was very dull to me, I don’t see myself getting the DLC. Fortnite coming to the Switch, I don’t really have a ton of faith in the internet connection on the Switch. I feel like it’s going to have a rough start. OH FUCK YES! DBFZ is coming over! Mayro Party, I haven’t played many games in that series, but something seems off. Not sure. Fire Emblem looks fun as fuck, I’m definitely getting that. And of course, I’ll be getting Pokemon: Let’s GO. Got tons of pokemon I wanna transfer from Pokemon GO. I’d give this part a C+/10 as well Smash Bros: I feel it deserves its own category. Oh my fucking god!! So much shit is coming over! Tons and tons of characters. Friggin’ Snake™ has returned! I legit thought he’d never come back because of how stupid Konami is now. Holy hell, so much revamping. The final smashes are touched up, new characters are appearing alongside them (Paula, Kumatora, Fiora, etc), and the attacks look really quick too. Some people might bitch about this, but I think it’s good they’re speeding this up, who really wants to run away from a player for like 15 seconds waiting for their Final Smash to end? No one. Though some attacks look like duplicates, I’m hoping I’m wrong about this. The stages have expanded, the Battlefield and Omega forms definitely adds more flavor. Oh my god, getting everyone’s trophy is going to be a nightmare. Also, durr! He’s too big >:PPPPPPP why is Scott Ridley there >:PPPP. Jk, holy shit, I’m surprised Ridley managed to fit in. Something I was kinda hoping was that there would be a new Mii Fighter Class. Like what? Maybe a Mage Fighter. Miitopia pretty much showed what a Mii can do in terms of fighting. Everything about the Smash Bros segment was just bonkers and I’ll definitely be getting it on release. I’d give this a  🅰/10.

I think I saw a post somewhere that I Want To Suction Your Blood Funny Tooth Halloween Dental 2020 shirt . estimated pidgeot’s volume based on its height in the Pokedex and determined its density by using the listed Pokedex weight. However, I can’t seem to find it right now and looking at the numbers, I think I’ve misremembered. This is the biggest complaint I have about this game. I don’t understand why they decided to include alola pokemon, but not all evolutions to pokemon like onix. Heck even Eevee, why can’t I evolve to a damn Umbreon or Sylveon. This game isn’t the main series so it would be safer to experiment. Because it’s working on PoGo hype which works on people that were around for the 1998-2001 craze and nothing since. Anything beyond the original 151 triggers them. I know PoGo has expanded since them. But the boom a couple of years back brought all the late 20-something ‘i’m an original gamer. 151 pokemon only, look at my retro Gameboy’ types. I feel this is wrong. I sort of fall into the camp of not really playing since Gold/Silver and I would have loved to have all of the revolutions and later evolutions in the game. Kanto has one native Ghost, Dragon and Steel type family each and no native Dark types. Allan forms fill that out a bit while still technically being Kanto. I’ve had this idea for a gen 1 reboot, like in the same region but all new characters and set like 100 years in the future. It’d be an interesting way to do it, and they could introduce a few new pokes and change the original lineup’s stats to keep up with power creep/viability issues. He should be pure rock too. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Moon thoughts
So just like I did with Sun and Moon, I’m going to put out all my thoughts of the game here. It’s going to cover post game and will not be spoiler free so that’s your warning if you still haven’t finished it. However, I’m not going to be touching on things that were the same in Sun and Moon. If you’re that interested in my thoughts, you can check out my post on the main game here and post game here.
My Team:
- I made it my mission to make sure I used as many alolan pokemon as possible this time around considering one of my regrets of my first Sun playthrough was that I didn’t use them enough. My final team ended up being the Rowlet line, the alolan Grimer line, the Noibat line, the Pichu line, the totem Salazzle and a spare spot where I exchanged pokemon that needed evolving through level up.
- Honestly, I don’t really look out for stats and whatever when choosing pokemon but damn most of them were frail af defensively. Like Pichu/Pikachu and Noibat were damn near unusable before they evolved. Because of this, I decided to keep the experience share on but only used refresh for status conditions up until the elite four as opposed to all the time like in Sun at which point I got sick of not using what was one of my favourite features in the game and used it for ages.
Trial + Elite Four Changes:
- So I thought getting all the “harder” sos call ins (the ones that heal and give weather helping conditions) in Sun and Moon was bad but Lana and Kiawe’s trials kicked my damn ass this time around. Like I didn’t even have issues with Kiawe’s trial in Sun and Moon but this time around, just like Lana’s trial, it took me two times to do it. Chances are though a lot of this had to do with having those defensively weak pokemon and not using refresh for the benefits.
- I have mixed feelings about Mallows trial. On the one hand, I liked it a lot more than the original games, but on the other, I still feel like it’s one of the most forgettable.
- As much as I get why they chose Vikavolt for Sophocles’ trial in Sun and Moon, to be honest, I liked Togedemaru a lot better. I also found it cute that you had to go get the Grubbin beforehand.
- I’m glad they actually made it clear that you could fight the other captains in the game considering I didn’t realise you could in Sun and Moon until waaay later than appropriate. However, I don’t think Mina’s trial was the way to do it. They hyped up the fact that Mina was going to have a trial and so much could have been done with it to the point of this feeling like a letdown if I’m honest.
- Honestly? I said this once and I’ll say it again, what was the point of Kahilli? Adding a little scene where she shows you how to use the flying z move does not make her any more relevant. I can understand replacing Hala considering he had said Hau already beat him, but not over her. Like I have nothing against her personally, I just wish they had bothered to do something with her.
- Kukui’s joke about being champion made me smile a little but to be honest, kinda eh about the rival being the champion battle again.
Story Changes:
Lusamine:
- I find it interesting that they really pushed Lusamine being someone with a mental illness that pushed her to become this way as opposed to intentionally negligent like in the original games. I mean it was very heavily implied that Mohn’s disappearance pushed her obsession which pushed her ignoring Gladion and Lillie in the original games, but the dialogue definitely pushed more of a selfish angle as opposed to mentally ill mindset, especially the difference in Gladion’s words.
- I also find it interesting that there’s an implication that Lillie did not know what happened to Mohn in these games. Makes me wonder just how long ago he was taken.
- I have also been spoiled about the fact Mohn visits Aether Foundation when you beat Gladion in the elite four rematch but doesn’t remember any of the family. I haven’t actually seen it but I have mixed feelings about the scene. I understand that this was meant to be a major moment of growth and closure for Lusamine and I’m glad they finally fixed the “You know where he is but never tell Lillie or Gladion” issue I had with the first game, but regardless of what goes down between them, I feel weird knowing that she never gave him the choice to know his kids. Not to mention, does Lillie even know he came? Is Gladion okay with it? It seemed that they deliberately put in how much what happened affected him into these games and yet all we get is a “Are you sure?” from him.
Guzma:
- Him becoming legitimate is everything I wanted. Him disbanding Team Skull in the process, not so much. Like with all the implications that he takes in teens that don’t fit in elsewhere and give them a place to belong, the dissemination as opposed to reforming of the team makes me sad.
- Along with Lillie, I love that you can fight alongside him during the post game.
Ultra Recon Squad + Wormholes:
- It was interesting to have them show up so early. Definitely not what I was expecting.
- I like that Hapu played a role as kahuna in the Necrozma story, even if only small.
- I would have liked more to be done with their world. Like I get not fleshing out every ultra world because that would have been insane, but the one that they made such a big deal about in nearly every trailer? Could have been done. I did like that it had the alternate squad there though.
- Quite frankly, the Necrozma story needed to be fleshed out more. Like it very clearly felt like dlc as opposed to a main difference in the game.
- All up the wormholes are one of the better features in the game. I do have to ask though, are shiny odds increased with them? Because I go 15ish years without even seeing a shiny in my game to suddenly getting one in the first wormhole which is odd to me haha.
Other changes:
- I hate and am terrible at mantine surfing tbh. Like it was cool the first time around and I have the records for Akala and Melemele but it’s going to take forever to get the other two. It actually makes me really sad because I was looking forward to it and just do not enjoy it at all.
- Making it so you can get Vikavolt and Crabominable earlier was a good change.
- Looker showing up made sense right up until he did nothing during the post game in regards to the villains which was just lame. Like I don’t care about his character but honestly? He’s useless in the game.
- As much as I would have also liked a Kommo-o clothing option too, I actuall like the Lurantis one more. Either way though, clothing is still too damn expensive in the game $2M should be enough to buy all the options tbh.
- I feel like the Rotom Loto is too OP considering you can use it any time he looks sad. In saying this, I hate how it pushes you to take pictures every time a pokemon evolves or constantly save or that type of thing. Like don’t get me wrong, I’m one of the seemingly few that thought that the photo club was cute but I’ll do it in my own time. So yeah, at least give us a “Never ask me this again” option.
- Continuing from this, forcing you to do festival plaza stuff on route 8 is not clever, it’s annoying. I didn’t want to use the feature in the first games and I’m only doing it now to get the damn stamp on the passport. Don’t force it haha.
- Pikachu valley was cute but literally what’s the point of the van? Like is it actually possible to get in there? Also I liked that they implied that the famous Pikachu was from there which made it seem like a jab at gossip journalists when that one asked him why he was in alola. Like making fun of the idea that they don’t even know the basics and are just trying to get a scoop makes me smirk.
- The way you choose your starter in these games is cuter, but honestly, the tutorial part of the game is still far too long. I get that there’s new players, but pokemon seriously need to consider putting “I’ve played Pokemon before” options for long time fans so we can skip seeing how to catch pokemon and so on.
- I preferred and was much more emotional about Lillie leaving for Kanto than Gladion.
Post Game
- Once again, I feel as if Looker should have played a larger role.
- I still do not understand them using old Archie and Maxie sprites. Like I get they’re from alternate universes but that doesn’t actually explain why they didn’t just use the ORAS ones.
- On that note, it’s heavily implied that Archie/Maxxie come from the same universe but I don’t see how that would work considering anything one does would just be undone by the other both weather wise and actions wise. So like apart from natural disasters happening, I don’t see their world being much different. But I suppose that’s the point. It could be any world.
- While I get it was post game and hence probably couldn’t take up too much room, I kinda wish they had done something different than what ultimately felt like a battle tree type quest. Like maybe rather than Giovanni bringing them all in, they happen to fall in and you have to do quests to stop them achieving their goals in Alola. So like finding Rayquaza to stop Archie and Maxie or racing to find ultra beasts before Giovanni. I don’t know, I know it’d take too much space up for the creator’s liking but I would have much preferred it.
Random other notes:
- My money is 100% on the first switch game being a gen one or two remake. There’s far too many references to Kanto in this game for the next game not to at least travel to Kanto. Whether or not this means starting back at the 151 is yet to be seen.
- On this note, everyone’s talking about who Hau’s dad is but I want to know who ours is. Is it the gym leader that signed the paper in the room? Probably not considering it’s implied the character knows who their father is and would have referred to them as such. Even less likely is my headcannon that it’s Giovanni as opposed to Surge which is what I see a lot of people guessing.
- I get that they’re going back to the regular method next game so want to leave alola behind, but I still find it strange that they added z crystals but not new alola forms.
- Despite people speculating otherwise, the Kantonian gym was exactly what I was expecting. However, I had hoped that they would have it earlier and it would be kinda like a trick house thing where each time you went, they had a different layout mimicking the Kanto gyms and actually had the trainers have that typing pokemon. So like after the first trial you could enter and it’d be a rock based one, second; a water based one and so on. I do however think that the fact that Ryuki said he wants to be a dragon gym leader will mean that the remakes will either have him take over the dragon trial and set it up as a gym or just 8 gyms in general.
Final thoughts:
This was a good game and improved a lot on parts that people didn’t like about the originals. However, while the story changes in the second half were much appreciated, the first half felt repetitive and drawn out. The game as a whole honestly just made me wish that these were Sun and Moon because the way it was done just makes them feel like dlc. Although in saying this, while it could have been done better, I do think these games were a necessary step to the generation four remakes that I’m still sure are coming out next year (lets face it, I doubt a new generation will be ready by then) and even generation five remakes, and the possibilities it has left for future games excites me.

GentlemanPenguin rants about people being dumb about Paradox Interactive
Okay, so, if you’ve looked at the Steam comments for any of the Paradox Interactive games recently, you’ve probably seen this, but I’m gonna summarize it anyway.
Back in May, Paradox Interactive raised the prices of their games and DLC for multiple countries, with the explanation being that the economies of those countries were stronger now, and the prices could be raised to be more in line with the prices for countries like the United States and most of Europe. For a great number of people, this translated into Paradox Interactive cranking prices up across the board in a frantic attempt to squeeze more money out of their customers.
Back then, I ranted to my friends that people were being dumb and not reading the whole story, but whatever, the internet is dumb. It is known.
Recently, the CEO of Paradox Interactive came out to say that they were rolling back those price increases after the Steam Summer Sale, and that they would do one of three things:
Refund the difference between the raised and original prices
Reimburse with games/DLC with a value equal to or greater than the difference
Donate double the difference to charity
People. Flipped. Their shit.
In the Steam comments, I’ve seen people bitching about the game being too expensive anyway, and that Paradox was still grabbing for money, and they were never buying a Paradox game again.
As a member of the nebulous group defined as “gamers”, I want to say something to the rest of us.
Grow the fuck up, you self-entitled fucks.
I swear, gamers are the most self-centered group of people. If a game costs more than $10, everyone bitches about the developers grabbing for money. If the game is more than $5, they say they’ll wait for the 75% sale. People brag on the forums that they only bought the game after spending 100+ hours on a pirated version.
To repeat: People complained about prices going up, and then complained when the prices went back down.
Paradox is not your friend who lets you play their games for fun. Paradox is a company. Their job is to make money. Making games does not print money, and no-one does that for free. In order to make money, the money has to come from customers.
If I had a machine that printed $10 bills whenever someone pushed a button, and I knew that 30k people were going to push the button per day, I’d be a damn fool for not making the machine print $20 bills.
Paradox has maybe 5 IPs that sell on a regular basis: Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Mount & Blade, and Cities: Skylines. Maybe Stellaris, but we’ll see how that turns out in like 5 years. Other games that they make aren’t as popular, and don’t make as much money. Paradox uses the money they get from these games to fund their other games like Tyranny.
Nintendo does the same goddamn thing with Mario and Zelda to fund Pikmin and ARMS, and everyone loves them. You can’t complain when one company does something that another company does and everyone loves.
In 4 years since it was first released, Paradox has made 13 major expansions for Crusader Kings 2. In that same time, Activision has made 7 Call of Duty games, all of which are essentially identical, and with an 8th game on the way for this year. Your average Call of Duty game costs $50 at launch, compared to $15 for a CK2 DLC.
On top of that, Crusader Kings 2 has had 8 major updates since its initial release, including a large amount of completely free content whenever they release a DLC. When’s the last time Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 updated? 2013? It’s almost like Paradox is trying to let people get comfortable with one game engine while adding new features instead of making people shell out $50 every year for the exact same game.
And before people start saying “well they’re locking features behind a paywall”, ya’ll can fuck right off because there’s a simple solution to not wanting to spend money on features.
Don’t buy it.
Problem solved.
If you spend money on DLC, you can’t complain when companies release DLC. You cannot complain about an industry that you are supporting without destroying your entire argument. And if buying that DLC supports a company that produces games that I enjoy, I will open my wallet for any DLC that match my interests. Because it means I can expect them to make more DLC that match my interests. And if DLC matches my interests, it means I’ll have more fun playing the game I have 600+ hours in.
When I was growing up, it weren’t called DLC. It was called an expansion pack, and you were lucky if your favorite game got a single expansion. The fact that Civilization 4 got not one, but two expansion packs, I was amazed. I had never seen a game I enjoyed having more than one add-on. Now we live in an age where pretty much every game has at least 2 major expansions, and a dozen $2 DLC. It’s almost as if making content for games that people enjoy makes more money than trying to sell a new game.
People are prepared to drop $450 on a console before any games are even announced for it. And yet if a company decides to make money on games that people have been playing for almost 5 years, suddenly Lucifer is at the helm boys we’re heading straight for the river Styx!
Last note: If a company makes a mistake, then rolls back that mistake and says that they’re listening to their fanbase, don’t bitch at the company for listening to you. No-one learns solely from negative reinforcement. Bitch when the company is doing something bad, and then reward them for doing something good. If all you do is bitch, then all the company is gonna learn that their fanbase is filled with bitches.
You like something? Throw money at it.
You don’t like something? Don’t throw money at it.
You don’t got money? Don’t throw money at it.
But don’t complain that you don’t have money because you spent it all on video games. It didn’t work for me when I was 9 years old and trying to save up to buy Pokemon Stadium for the N64 (god I feel old now), and it’s not gonna work for you.
Grow the fuck up.
God.
DAMN.

Nintendo Direct E3 Takes
Well we’re pretty much done with E3 at this point, and it looks like once again Nintendo is carrying the whole damn thing on their back.
This is obviously a bit biased, because I’m not really into the AAA gaming industry otherwise, and the only other potential announcement I cared about didn’t happen. You had one fucking job, Capcom. One job.
Anyway as I did last time this came around I’m giving some hot takes like every single other person on this godforsaken internet because innovation is dead and react culture is king. Shall we?
Smash DLC Fighter…10 or something idk
Tumblr media
I mean, look. I was hoping for an indie representative. Kazuya isn’t really that. But on the other hand, Tekken rep is something I can still get behind. They’ve already got Street Fighter and Fatal Fury in there, might as well get Tekken. What’s next, Raiden from Mortal Kombat? Hell, might as well get some Rivals of Aether character in there, might as well, don’t even have to change much.
From what little we’ve seen of Kazuya’s kit, it looks like his gimmick is going to be…complicated input combos for special attacks. Hm. Well, it’ll probably be fine. People managed with Ryu, they’ll manage with Kazuya. I do appreciate that they gave this guy his demon form- I guess they had to make him jump somehow, huh?
 Life is Strange
I haven’t played the original Life is Strange, but I did watch a playthrough so I know how it goes. Don’t really know much about Before the Storm or 2, but I don’t think 2 is part of this collection anyway? Look I’m probably not going to buy this, but it’s probably good that it exists. The original was like, actual good rep, I think, so they’re probably not going to fuck this one up. New character is neat looking, good for them.
A Bunch of games, I guess
Guardians of the Galaxy? Damn dude, did I ask?
Worms Rumble said it had 32-person multiplayer, which I was like well hang on how’s that going to work with turn-based Worms combat you’d be waiting for ever. Except it isn’t turn-based. And it looks like ass as a result. F.
Astria Ascending…I’m reading this name and I already forgot what this was. Sorry if you cared about it I suppose.
I know nothing of the Two Point…series, I guess? I keep on seeing Hospital pop up on either Steam or the eShop, and I’ve scrolled past it without thinking twice every single time. Not about to change that.
 Super Monkey Ball
I understand this series was a lot of fun for a lot of people, but it just looks miserable to me. With that said, I have seen some speedruns of these games that look incredible, so on that axis I’m happy this is getting made. Makes doing a marathon-length run of this a fair bit easier.
 Mario Party
Look I haven’t even gotten around to playing my (very fake) Mario Party 3 cart, you think I’m going to buy another 80 dollar game on top of that? Nah.
 Metroid
Tumblr media
Yoooooooooooooo lets fucking gooooooooooooo
Okay so I’ve actually never beaten a Metroid game. Got some ways into Fusion and Super but didn’t complete either of them. But this looks super cool and good and I’m here for it. They mentioned that this was the first new 2D Metroid game in 19 years, which I guess means Fusion was the latest one.
…wait how many Metroid games are there even? Like, the original, Super, Fusion, the three Primes, and that one we don’t talk about…is that it? That feels a lot smaller than I thought it was, but I guess it adds up.
Just don’t cock it up, I guess. Metroid and Castlevania’s absence have left indie devs to fight for the Metroidvania name, and it’s about time the big boys got to come back around again.
 More bullshit
Just Dance 2022. Is this one also coming out on the Wii?
Some racing game that looks cheap as fuck, neato. Man I feel bad for the devs working on these absolute shovelware games, like I bet they’re either working hard or being worked to the bone. But this is what the result is. R.I.P.
It’s about 13 years too late for me to be caring about Dragon Ball. Especially since this is just a port. Next.
Mario Golf
I mean we saw this earlier this year. I don’t even know what was actually new in this presentation.
Bowsers outfit is fucking clean though. Once again proving himself the best Mario character.
 Monster Hunter
Fuck off Capcom. Y’all are leaving Mega Man in the fucking dust and he doesn’t deserve it.
I mean I guess ill get into it here, I mostly just wanted something, anything for the Mega Man Battle Network series. It’s their 20th anniversary, and we haven’t gotten shit so far. Literally just a MMBN collection for the switch, that’s all I want. They were even on the Wii U VC, you can just port those again, I don’t care fucking give it to me.
Anyway. Monhun? Ehhh they already showed this at their lacklustre presentation who cares.
 Warioware
Look I haven’t played this series before, it’s probably fun, but I’m not sure how they stretch microgame content out into a fully-priced game.
Also, the multiplayer looks kinda miserable? Like, in case Mario Party was a little too efficient for ruining friendships, now you can yell at one person specifically for fucking the both of you up, and vice versa. Wheeeeee.
 SMT5
Tumblr media
Shoutouts to Squiggy, they’re super hype for this and I’m happy to see it. I personally again haven’t played this series, let alone Persona (though 4 is sitting untouched in my steam library, oops), but it looks pretty aight. I’m sure there’ll be a huge pile of demons to fuck up, or friend up, and some level of story that people will like (I have literally no idea what the plot of the series is), so. Atlus (?) has been at this for a long fucking time, they aren’t goofing this up.
 Danganronpa
Tumblr media
Shirtless Rantaro Shirtless Rantaro  (shamelessly stolen from u/ AnaLissaMelculo on r/danganronpa)
I’m interested to see Talent Development Plan develop into it’s own fully fleshed out game. It was surprisingly good for a tacked-on minigame, and I hope that they’ll fully take advantage of its potential.
It also looks like the 4 games are releasing separately on Switch, but there is a physical collectors edition with all of them, and I mean, I can probably afford that, riiiiight?
R.I.P. Ultra Despair Girls fans, snubbed yet again. Ehhhh fuck it aside from the dialogue that game sucks ass so its fine.
 More stuff
Fatal Frame looks spooky, I guess. I dunno, I was talking to mates through half of this one so I basically missed it.
DOOM Eternal DLC, cool. I still haven’t finished the original.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater should be on the Switch, and now it is. Or, it will be, in a couple weeks. Good.
There’s something on this list of notes called Strange Brigade, and I have literally no idea what that is. Oops again.
Mario+Rabbids 2, now with a Rabbid Goth GF. I’m terrified to go on any fuckin NSFW platforms for the next couple weeks, because I’m sure everyone is drawing incredibly cursed hentai of that thing. Ubisoft sucks ass, fuck Ubisoft, don’t buy this.
 Advance Wars
Tumblr media
This sure isn’t Fire Emblem. Actually when I was explaining to my mates why this was cool, I called it Fire Emblem but with tanks instead of waifus, except I forgot this game still has waifus. I know strategy nerds love this series, so for their sake I’m happy to see it remade. This just looks unbelievably cute.
 Zelda
Tumblr media
Oh look, Hyrule Warriors 2 DLC, Zelda gets the motorbike now, cool who fucking cares we got more BOTW sequel footage
It does kinda bug me that people keep calling this BOTW 2, because there’s no way that’s what it’s going to be called. Zelda has never done numbered sequels. I mean, they’ve also very rarely done sequels at all, but there are a few- Phantom Hourglass is a sequel to Wind Waker iirc.
It is kinda funny that right after I was saying boo who cares to Skyward Sword remake (still mad this is one game and not a collection) that the new game clearly has SS-ass floating islands and such.
I was hoping we’d get to see Zelda do things this game. Apparently not, she’s stuck in a hole now. Or dead. A shame. But Link at least looks kickass, so.
Look, they could not say a single other thing until release and everyone would still buy this game. Breath of the Wild was an incredible enough game that so many things that vaguely resemble it get compared- Genshin Impact comes to mind. This is likely made by the same (or similar) team, in the same world, and it looks fucking incredible. We all know this is going to be a good game. My hot take isn’t going to change that.
And that’s the tea, sis. All the shit that Ninty had in their corner of E3. It’s a pretty solid lineup! It looks like they are bringing their A-game. I was kind of surprised not to see any Pokemon stuff- while it usually gets its own direct these days, BDSP is really coming up soon and they kinda need to win back the crowd on that one.
Oh what am I saying, it’s fucking Nintendo, it’s too big to fail.

Video Game Survey!
So! I’m bored... Like... Hella bored. So I found this survey (questions created from 8bitrevolver) and I’m going to answer these questions like it’s 2005 and I’m doing a MySpace survey! Ready? Let’s-a Go! 1. First game you played obsessively? Obsessively... Hmm... When I was very little I played a lot of Wario’s Woods and Super Mario Bros. 2. But! I think I was a little more obsessive towards Super Mario Bros. 2! 2. A game that has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc. Either the Legend of Zelda or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I have written fanfics based off of those games!
3. Who did you play with as a kid? My sister and my step-sister
4. Who do you play with now? My boyfriend and my college friend.
5. Ever use cheat codes? My dad used to have a Game Genie for the NES, and I loved messing around with that thing. Sometimes it would totally fuck up the game cause I would just put in totally random codes! 6. Ever buy strategy guides? The only strategy guide I remember buying was for Super Smash Bros. Melee. If I remember correctly it came out before the game actually did, and I bought it and looked through it to help build up my hype! 7. Any games you have multiple copies of? No. 8. Rarest/Most expensive game in your collection? Uh... N/A 9. Most regrettable purchase? Yooka-Laylee for the Switch (at least that’s my most recent I can think of.) 10. Ever go to a midnight game release or stand in line for hours? No. 11. Have you ever made new friends from playing video games? No. 12. Ever get picked on for liking games? No. 13. A game you’ve never played that everyone else has? Ooo. Probably. I haven’t played any of the Metroid games. I’m sure there’s a big title that I can’t think of. Uhhh. Fortnite and PubG? Uh.... Halo. Or any famous first person shooter games. 14. Favorite game music? Legend of Zelda music is high on my list. I love the Stone Tower Temple music. I love Fi’s theme from Skyward Sword. I love Dragon Roost Island. I love the music from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars as well. Like the Forest Maze, Midas Falls, and Rose Town.
15. If it was a requirement to get a game related tattoo, what would you pick? Maybe the Super Mario mushroom or the Triforce?  16. Favorite game to play with your friends IRL? Mario Kart, cause I’m a beast. 17. Ever lose a friend over a game? No 18. Would you date someone that hates gaming? I have before... it kinda sucked. Like he got mad at me because I just bought Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story and I was playing that instead of like... following him outside so he could smoke. He wasn’t a very nice person.... 19. Favorite handheld console? The 3DS I suppose. 20. Game that you know like the back of your hand? Either Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. 21. Game that you didn’t like or understand as a kid but love now? Hmmm.... I can’t think of anything. 22. Do you wear game related clothing/accessories? Yes. 23. The game that you’ve logged the most hours into?  Either Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Lol. 24. First Pokemon game? Pokemon Blue! Bulbasaur was my first Pokemon ever! 25. Were you ever an arcade game player? No. 26. Ever form any gaming rivalries? No. 27. Game that makes you rage? I get ragey when games give me really LONG challenges. Like where the difficulty lies in how long the challenge is and if you fail you have to start all over. That is what makes me rage. Most recent example is Super Smash Bros. for Wii U trying to complete All-Star mode on Hard difficulty with several characters.... Getting so close only to have to start all over again makes me ragey. Lol 28. Ever play in a tournament? No. 29. What is your gaming set up? We have 3 Nintendo Switches in this house. My dock is hooked up to my TV. Warren’s dock is underneath mine not hooked up to anything but plugged in to act as a charging station. Reece’s Switch is hooked up to the living room TV. If Warren wants to play his switch he just places it into my dock. 30. How many consoles do you own? 2. Nintendo 3DS and a Nintendo Switch. I had a Wii U but I gave it to my sister. 31. Does the 3DS and/or Virtual Boy hurt your eyes or give you headaches? Yes!! Never played the Virtual Boy, but I can’t really use the 3D of the 3DS, it messed with my eyes. 32. Did you ever play a game based on your favorite show/cartoon/movie/comic? Yes. I remember owning the Shrek 2 video game. And I am sure I have a few more, until I came to realize those kind of video games sucked! 33. Did you ever have any bootleg games or plug-n-play games? No.
34. Do either of your parents play video games? My dad does quite a bit. He owns as Wii, but plays a lot of mobile games. My mom will play games like Mario Kart, and she really likes Wii Party U and the Pictionary portion of Game & Wario. 35. Ever work in a game store? Or do you have a favorite game shop? No. And I supposed GameStop is my go-to, but Jesus Balls they’re expensive. 36. Have you ever shed actual blood, sweat or tears over a game? .... Uhhh? No? I don’t think so? I remember getting very mad and upset at Paper Mario when I was little because I JUST COULD NOT BEAT HUFF-N-PUFF! But it’s because I was going about it totally wrong. And I got yelled at from my Mom because I was getting mad, and she told me to calm down. 37. Have you played E.T. for the Atari 2600? Do you think that’s the worst game ever, or do you have another nomination? I have not. But I do probably think it is the worst game ever... because it like... single-handledly brought upon the American Video game crash... 38. A game you’re ashamed to admit that you like? Super Princess Peach. It’s one of the only DS games I still own... 39. A sequel that you would die for them to make? A Sequel to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.  40. What to you think of virtual reality headsets or motion controls? Never used Virtual reality headsets. I am afraid it may make me motion sick like 1st person games do. And I am kind of over motion controls now. 41. A genre that you just can’t get into? First Person Shooters. 42. Maybe it wasn’t your first game, but what was the game that started you on your path to nerdiness? ??? Probably my first game Super Mario Bros. 2. Lol.
43. Ever play games when you really should have been concentrating on something else? Yes. I think everyone does that. 44. Arcade machine that has consumed the most of your quarters? Uhh.... N/A
45. How are you at Mario Kart? GURL! I am a beast! You better watch out? Oh is that a Blue Shell coming for me? No Biggie I am so far ahead it doesn’t matter? Another one? Oh looks like you caught up but still can’t pass me. And I don’t even use the heavy characters with high speed, and you’re still eating my dust. :-P 46. Do you like relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon? Never really played them, but I kinda want to get into Animal Crossing because I want to have an easy relaxing game that I can play before bed or something. 47. Do you like competitive games? Mario Kart and Smash, I suppose. 48. How long does it take your to customize your player character? Not too long. 49. In games where you can pick your class, do you always tend to go for the same type of character? Yes. 50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create? Uhh... A game where you are the damsel in distress, but you escape and your journey is getting back home. 51. Have you ever played a game for so long that you forgot to eat or sleep? I never forget to sleep, but I have gone for a long time without eating and then I’m like “Damn, I’m hungry... Oh I haven’t had food for 12 hours.” Lol 52. A game that you begged your parents for as a kid? Super Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi’s Mansion, Paper Mario, and probably the first few Mario Parties. 53. What’s your opinion on DLC these days? If they are good, it’s fine. If it feels like an actual addition to the game instead of just “Oh the game wasn’t done, here’s some more you gotta pay for.” Like.... The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did a good job with the Champion’s DLC. Like the game would be fine without it, but it just added some extra flavor (and totally made me fall in love with Urbosa.) 54. Do you give in to Steam sales? I do not have Steam account. 55. Did you ever make someone you hated in the Sims and did mean stuff to them? I do not play Sims. 56. Did you ever play Roller Coaster Tycoon and kill off your guests? No. Never played it. 57. Did you ever play a game to 100% or get all of the achievements? YES! I am very much a completionist.
58. If you can only play 3 games for the rest of your life, which ones do you pick? Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Mario Kart 8. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. 59. Do you play any cell phone games? Pokemon Go is the only one I really play. 60. Do you know the Konami Code? Yes. My dad and I were just talking about it. 61. Do you trade in your games or keep them forever? I trade them, that’s why I like the physical copies.
62. Ever buy a console specifically to play one game? Not really. I buy the Nintendo consoles because I know there will be games I’ll want to play. 63. Ever go to a gaming convention or tournament? No. 64. Ever make a TV or monitor purchase based on what would be best for gaming? No. 65. Ever have a Game Genie, Game Shark or Action Replay? Did it ever mess up your game’s save file? My dad had a Game Genie (see previous question) and I don’t think it ever messed up the save files, but it did mess up the way the game looked.
