Daydream Hour Page - How to make an Elven Communication Fairy (Homunculus)

I just did this using Google's machine translation tools, and I didn't clean it up, but you can get the gist of it. I saw Japanese fans on twitter going wild with this information the day the Daydream hour came out, so I already knew there was something about blood and semen, but it's so fun to get more information about how the fairies work!!!

Keep an eye on Savaralyn 's tumblr because I'm sure they'll post a better, cleaned up version of this soon, and reblog that one because it'll be easier to understand but... This is just so cool! The fairies are homunculus, and so the reason they look like their owners is because they're literally made of their semen (reproductive fluids) and fed their blood. Blood and semen and other body fluids are frequently used in real world magic or religious rituals so it's really cool that Kui is being unflinching about using it here, even if it's "gross" to us modern people... I love seeing it acknowledged in a fictional work! tl;dr alchemists used to believe that there was A Little Man inside the sperm but because the baby sometimes looks like the mother, they are absorbing traits from her through the Blood.... and so if they can make a baby Only With Sperm they can make a little man 100% in their own image. But Dungeon Meshi and especially the elves don't seem to have the same sexism that we have in the real world... Real world alchemists wouldn't think about how women are supposed to do alchemy without semen, they just would exclude women I'm pretty sure, but elves don't seem to exclude female elves so, how are female elves getting their fairies? Either: - Only male elves can make a fairy and so they construct them for female elves. - Female elves need to get semen from a male elf (or whoever, does it have to be elven semen?) to make their fairies. - Female elves use female ejaculate (Ryoko Kui confirming female ejaculation real in Dungeon Meshi universe??? Joking) - Female elves use menstrual fluid that has a shed egg in it instead of semen (equivalent reproductive fluid to male semen)

If you have to get someone else's semen for your fairy does it not look like you? Does it look like a mix because you use your blood and their semen? Does the blood need to be regularly given to power the fairy? What if someone doesn't have enough mana - can Tallmen make fairies? Would they be able to make a fairy if they had an extra mana source (like a dungeon, or an elf) to regularly feed the fairy blood?

This is just such a cool bit of worldbuilding in such an unlikely place!!! Everything in Dungeon Meshi is so fascinating. I can't wait to get my Daydream hour in the mail from Japan. In case you haven't seen it, here's the other page we've gotten on the fairies:

As you can see, only Mithrun and the Queen's fairies look substantially different from them. Possibly the queen's bodily fluids are too sacred/precious to be used in this manner? What if somebody tries to usurp the throne or something (more problematic with a male ruler but still an issue if you have magic maybe...) and Mithrun... well, hard to get semen out of him. So his may be made by someone else but fed by him with his blood? (Could have been grown from a donation by his brother? The hair color is right but not the eyes... but Mithrun's blood may be influencing the appearance?)

Honestly, I thought about naming her Queen, but who said my girl can't be called King in this version too? In this version (and AU that I had a few years ago with another ship and modified), King is in love with Meliodas, but she doesn't treat him with so much affection.She treats him just like in canon, only with the difference that by season 2, Meliodas is already closer to her after the chaos of Camelot.

Compared to her male version, King is forced to wear underwear because she flies and it is considered "bad taste" for a lady, especially a holy knight, to not wear underwear, which also bothers her, she's a fairy, she doesn't need something like that, but oh well

And Chastiefol is still the same, she's green, she loves green, Pink? No, she doesn't have pink on her clothes. Before she had a headband of pink flowers that looked like generic flowers, but, I replaced them with sunflowers. Here in this AU she is very good friends with Diane and Elizabeth, the three of them understand each other so well, that they even realize that maybe, just maybe, Meliodas is the apple of discord.

Likewise, that's not possible, because Elizabeth here surprisingly doesn't fall in love with Meliodas by hearing King's feelings firsthand without wanting to, just as Diane believes that King hates Meliodas.

I would talk so much about this AU, that I could even tell you that Meliodas adores King because she treats him like an old and ragged rag, she loves that King doesn't let himself be defeated and they are a good team together (my dads, My god)

Hello! So I’m just wondering, since the fairies in FairyVerse are considered queens(tho most of em if not all are male, sorry if that was rude btw) would there ever be a necessarily female sans? I’ve been curious about this for a while, so I just need to put my brain to rest on this, lol

No need to worry, you weren’t rude. So, the season fairies might be female-represented when it comes to their ecto-forms (which was a choice I wanted because I find them to be really pretty like this, but it’s definitely not a must, just the most common of forms for a season fairy to have/take), but I wouldn’t necessarily say any of them are either male or female. The season fairies work differently from the Big Folk and truly have no standard role appointed to them.

As for titles, they change depending on who you speak to. Error is both known as the Ice Queen and the Winter King, whilst Nightmare is often referred to as either Queen Autumn or the Lunar Queen, though he’s also been called the Veiled King now and again. Dream has been called Summer Guardian and Summer’s Sun, whilst Ink is often referred to as Father Spring by many of his spring fairies, whilst the Big Folk usually call him the Spring Hunter, or the False Light (he is a dreadful menace towards them.)

I tend to write “He” when it comes to most of my fairies because it’s what I’m the most used to (when writing regular fanfics about the different skeletons), though I have occasionally referred to fairy Nightmare as “She” as well.

It’s free game, honestly.

I say go wild with it.

The fairies have no set rules when it comes to this sort of stuff, so everything works for them. The goal for this AU was to just have fun with some lovely, creepy, sweet, tiny little fairies, so you can do anything you want.

You can view the fairies as some obscure folklore that has so many different versions told and written down that no one is sure which one is the “correct” one, so in a way, all of them are plausible.

There is no “right” or “wrong”, there’s just fairies. 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊

Fairy Tail Manga Reread Version

Presenting Titania - Queen of Fairies Erza Scarlet

A whole page dedicated to Erza! That’s exactly what she deserves. I love how Erza is the personification of The Knight yet her alias as a Fairy Tail member is Titania (which is the Queen of Fairies). I think both titles of very fitting for her.

As a Knight, she not only breaks gender stereotypes as knights are typically male and have the role of saving the damsel in distress. However, Hiro Mashima making Erza the Knight demonstrates that she doesn’t need to wait around for a man to come and rescue her. She can do that all by herself. I absolutely love it!

In terms of Titania, she real takes the role being the Queen. Not only is she feared by many powerful mages such as Natsu and Gray, but she’s highly respected. Almost everyone knows who Titania is. She’s known for her hard work, powers, and strength, but also because she’s very family/friend oriented. She’s always claiming she gets her strength from her guild that believes in her. They’re her true source of power. Which is why, I think she is very fitting for title of Queen. She understands what it means to be a Fairy!!

I know that many people don’t like how she’s always overpowering her enemies, but she wouldn’t have the title of Queen if she didn’t possess such power. While I also want her to lose a few times (just so she can learn and grow from it), she is truly fitting of a victor when she puts all her will into saving and protecting what she cares about most. That’s the whole message of Fairy Tail, the whole purpose of the story.

Brainstorming child units for these Engage characters

I was super sad that we couldn't have child units in 3H, and this was echoed in Engage--though I will praise Engage for being able to S-support everyone (even though not all of them are romantic). So because of this, I wanted to brainstorm ideas for child units in Engage. Sadly, I have no artistic skills, but I've got my imagination.

Iliad, the child of Alear. Early to mid teens, and I'd imagine they have a different color scheme so they don't look like carbon copies of their parents like Kana and Morgan do. I thought male Iliad's hair would be predominantly blue with a streak of red while female Iliad had red hair with blue highlights in the front (similar to Rogue from "X-Men"), but it'd be a cool detail if the ends of their hair matched the hair color of whoever Alear married. I imagine since their parents showered them with love and affection, they're much more emotionally and psychologically stable than Alear, as well as being a bit of a pacifist. In a contrast to Fates and Awakening, I'd like for Iliad's gender to match Alear's.

Neciso, the son of Pandreo. Originally I pictured him as a wolf pup type of kid, but then I imagined him as a young man who's also a kind priest like his dad--but he doesn't have the energy for parties. He's more of a scholarly type, but occasionally he'll let out an energetic howl.

Adele, the daughter of Alfred. Given the fact that Alfred dies young but it's never said how young that is, I think his daughter is super protective of him as she grows up (she'd be a teen here), training herself to be the strongest in the kingdom.

Emeraude, the daughter of Diamant. Due to the circumstances that made Diamant king, he wants Emeraude to be fully prepared for the worst-case scenario if she needs to become a queen immediately. That said, he also makes sure to spend a lot of time with her just in case she never sees him again.

Lazul, the son of Alcryst. A young man very big on upholding the honor of the royal family and looks up to his dad a lot, despite the latter's embarrassment. His cousin also encouraged his uncle to give him an education befitting a monarch, as she always saw him as her equal, just as their fathers did before them.

Aquamarine, the daughter of Amber. A young woman who inherited her father's romanticism and affinity for animals, she comes across as a fairy tale princess. She strives to become a legendary heroine--along with seducing a village boy or five. She's basically the female version of Laslow/Inigo and isn't shamed for that.

Chikai, the son of Yunaka. He frequently slips in an out of situations, and has a bubbly personality. It's believed he is also a thief, though he's so likeable most people find it hard to believe. He's a sly charmer (very similar to Hermes from the Hades video game).

Rubis, the daughter of Saphir. She's a popular knight and friend of Emeraude and Lazul. Her duty takes precedence first and foremost, and is the oldest of the child units (being in her mid-20s).

Eos, the son of Ivy. He's a young man known for being even-tempered and uncharacteristically kind by those who still deem Elusia with suspicion. He frequently wears a ghostly-white rose in his breast pocket, and while he's shy like his mother, he pushes himself to be more sociable to make others lose their fear for his kingdom.

Solanum, the son of Hortensia. As a little kid, one would be unsurprised by his childish behavior--though those who know Hortensia think it's because she spoils him, and that he'll likely be that way when he's older, too. He often sticks to Eos like glue, and is quick to protect his family.

Salix, daughter of Zelkov. Considered a counterpart to Chikai, she's known for being dangerous and charming--though while Chikai often keeps his criminal activity to non-life threatening activities, Salix is known for being lethal to her enemies. Her father doesn't seem to mind, considering her loyalty to the crown.

Tia, daughter of Timerra. Known as "the wandering princess," she's often found camping with her family and traveling on her own--unless her retainers happen to catch up to her. She has a close relationship with her family, and has a singing voice that is much better than her mother's--something her uncle frequently takes advantage of when Timerra tries to sing.

Taralli, the son of Seadall. Like his father, he is a renowned dancer and fortune-teller, though he often prefers to leave fate to chance, only reading fortunes when truly necessary. I imagine his outfit is similar to Inigo's "Indigo Dancer" outfit in FEH, except Taralli would probably be called the fated dancer.

Sleeping Beauty Spring: "Faerie Tale Theatre: Sleeping Beauty" (1983 TV series episode)

Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre is a cult classic among children of the '80s and '90s. So many of us grew up enjoying this TV series of hour-long fairy tale adaptations, with their celebrity casts, visuals inspired by the work of famous artists and illustrators, slightly cheesy special effects, and a blend of sincerity and quirky irreverence. I saw nearly every episode in its '90s reruns on The Disney Channel, or else on VHS with my friends at school during our parents' PTA meetings.

Sleeping Beauty is the fifth episode of the series. It stars Bernadette Peters and Christopher Reeve, who not only play the Princess and her Prince, but show off their acting range by also playing each other's unsavory romantic false leads, the "bad girl" Princess Debbie and the silly, spoiled son of King Murray. The rest of the cast includes Beverly d'Angelo as the sassy villainous fairy Henbane, Carol Kane as the slightly goofy yet sweet Pink Fairy who softens Henbane's curse from death to sleep, René Auberjonois and Sally Kellerman as the Princess's parents King Boris and Queen Natasha, and George Dzundza as the Woodsman who narrates the story.

Rather than the standard Western European country, this version of the story is set in Russia – mot likely in tribute to Tchaikovsky, whose music, not only from The Sleeping Beauty but from The Nutcracker and Romeo and Juliet, is heard in excerpts throughout. This creates a beautiful and unique visual aesthetic, inspired by the fairy tale illustrations of Kay Nielsen. The bulk of the story is told as a flashback, narrated by the Woodsman to a prince and his squire. Midway through (although the twist is predictable from the start), the "squire" is revealed to really be the Prince, and vice-versa. They've switched places so the Prince can better observe the moral character of the princesses he meets: a lesson he learned some time ago, when he was nearly ensnared by the seductive Arabian princess Debbie, who turned out to be the evil fairy Henbane in disguise.

The Woodsman's tale reveals that once upon a time, Queen Natasha longed for a child, but neither she nor King Boris knew how to have one, until a tiny fairy gave them some much-needed, discreetly whispered advice. When their daughter is born, they invite six fairies to the christening: distinctly Russian-looking fairies in white gowns and ornate headscarves, who all have strange-sounding voices and bright-colored skin. (Furthermore, one fairy is male, but dresses just like the female fairies and has the mannerisms of a sassy gay man.) Villainous Henbane has gray skin, while her sweet, lisping younger sister who softens her curse is pink.

Twenty years later, the Princess has grown up to be a kind, graceful beauty, who cooks food for the poor and expresses her longing for love with the classic Judy Garland song "I'm Nobody's Baby." (A jokey anachronism, yes, but also a showcase for Bernadette Peters' famous singing voice.) In a choice that recalls the Czech film How to Wake a Princess, her parents have arranged for her to marry the son of the visiting King Murray, in hope that in his kingdom she'll be safe from Henbane's curse. But the foreign prince turns out to be a foppish, cowardly snob. Horrified by the thought of marrying him, the Princess flees to a secluded tower... where, of course, Henbane waits in disguise as an old woman with a spinning wheel.

After the sleeping Princess is found, the Pink Fairy arrives, puts the grieving King and Queen to sleep, and freezes the rest of the court like statues. But not to be outdone, Henbane surrounds the castle with "man-eating briars," which move like snakes to grab their victims, and changes herself into a reptilian, fire-breathing giant (not quite a dragon like Disney's Maleficent, but close) to prevent any prince from breaking the spell. But of course, a hundred years later, these obstacles can't deter the Prince. Running off with the Woodsman's axe, he chops his way through the briars, then battles the gigantic Henbane and slays her by throwing the axe at her. Then he wakes the Princess with a kiss, and everyone lives happily ever after... except for the Woodsman, who never gets his axe back and is left trying to chop down trees with a knife.

Children will enjoy this Sleeping Beauty as a colorful retelling of the classic tale. Adults will enjoy it as a lightly fractured fairy tale, with quite a few grown-up jokes and innuendos, yet which strikes a good balance between silliness and sincerity. Either way, it's a memorable retelling, and a standout episode of the Faerie Tale Theatre series.

Ace = fluid sexuality for actors?

So when I was acting in school, we had a higher female to male ratio.

I was cast to play a female version of Bottom from A Midsummer Night's Dream (not my choice, I despised it). Essentially Bottom is this super annoying actor who has a spell cast on them to make Titania the queen of the fairies fall in love with them. It didn't really bother me to essentially play a lesbian, or to have another woman act that she was sexually attracted to me.

In the same play, another young woman was cast as Puck, and was directed to play her as bisexual. She was straight and she had great difficulty playing this role as bi. I didn't dive deeper into it with her at the time beyond listening to her vent about how uncomfortable it made her. I didn't quite understand what the issue was, since I personally wasn't having an issue playing a lesbian. It wasn't like we were kissing or touching or anything, it was more of a mindset motivation direction.

At the time I thought I was straight, but I was actually ace.

I've started to wonder if my asexuality is the reason it didn't bother me to play a lesbian female or be cast in a traditionally men's role. I didn't quite understand sexuality back then, since I thought love and romance and sexuality and aesthetic attraction were all the same thing.

The Tale of the Golden Snail (a Fairy Tale from the East with Curse element in it)

Before going deeper, I want to say that CPC depictions is lacking eastern (Asia and Africa - and maybe southern America as well?) fairy tales that depicted on the media - the closest of the eastern tale depiction is the magic lamp from "Aladdin" which is from middle east asia. Jack finds the Braided Island that inhabitants with people with appearance that different than him, is also similar with how westerner see easterner folks [which either got amazed by their exotic appearance or horrified with them to point of being racist]. It's a shame IMHO because as someone from East, I want to say that Eastern Fairy Tales is a giant gem box that ready to be explored.. Especially from my own country, there's many fairy tales with curses on their story - like becomes animal (monkey, snail etc), petrified to becomes a stone (Malin Kundang) or born cursed (example, has face of a gourd). I like to introduce my own country and it's culture but without being posh doing it, slow and honest introduction by said my country as Batik Kingdom - islands based Kingdom from faraway place from the continent where Plaid-Pastel-Polygon Kingdom resides. I am headcannon-ing that Frederick reads fairy tale from faraway continent as well, based on ep 34:

Well, let's move on to next topic which is about the Golden Snail Tale!

Once upon a time, Daha was a prosperous kingdom under Prabu Kertamerta's reign (Prabu means a king in English). He had two beautiful daughters: Galuh Ajeng and Candra Kirana.

When these two princesses had come of age, a crown prince from the Kahuripan kingdom came to propose a marriage. Raden Inu Kertapati was a handsome, strapping crown prince from a prosperous kingdom, so Prabu Kertamerta welcomed him and accepted his proposal.

Despite Princess Galuh Ajeng being the eldest, Raden Inu Kertapati chose Princess Candra Kirana. It rose Princess Galuh's wrath. She plotted a devious plan to expel Candra Kirana from the palace so she couldn't marry Raden Inu Kertapati.

She sought an evil witch to cast a spell on her sister. She wished Candra Kirana became so disgusting that no one wanted to get near. Not long after that, the witch cast a spell on Candra Kirana to become a keong emas (a golden snail). Before she threw the snail into the river, she told the princess the curse could only be broken by meeting Raden Inu Kertapati. [Note: the curse is broken not by "True Love's Kiss" but could simply by meeting the beloved, this nice insight]

In another version of this tale, the one that cursed as golden snail actually a queen which got cursed as bad karma by bad mouthing a 'magical' golden snail that she founds at the street. I take the most popular version instead because the character's name fits better ("Kirana"). Kirana is my OC of my planned multiple chapters fanfic series, her summarized backstory as the following: A witch cursed her to becomes a golden snail every night and teleported her to far away place (similar with Thermidora's story) - the Male Monastery site.

Kirana meets Whitney and they're platonically becomes close - her ideal that every curse could be broken eventually leads Whitney to becomes a curse breaker [which very important as being the one that recognize Frederick's curse properly]. Meanwhile Kirana go to get more informations and money so she could return to her kingdom someday, by becoming a journalist/reporter. This will be important plot point later on

One day, a poor old lady caught a snail on her fishing net. When she saw it was a beautiful golden snail, she brought it home and kept it in a crock (an earthenware pot). 

The next day the old lady went fishing. Unfortunately, she only caught a few fish. She was devastated because she could only buy a bit of rice. Imagine her surprise when she found plenty of food on her dining table. Feeling so hungry, she ate them without asking questions. Since this bizarre experience occurred every day, one day, the old lady pretended to go fishing. Then, she sneaked back into her hut and found a beautiful maiden cooked and cleaned.

She immediately confronted the maiden, who happened to be the cursed Princess Candra Kirana. As soon as the princess told her story, she became Keong Emas (golden snail) again. That's the beginning of the friendship between Candra Kirana and the old lady.

In the meantime,  the news of the missing princess spread throughout the kingdom of Daha. Feeling that she had no other competitors, Princess Galuh Ajeng tried her hardest to replace her sister as the bride of Raden Inu Kertapati. 

However, since Raden Inu Kertapati was deeply in love with Candra Kirana, he set off on a journey to find her. Knowing this, the evil witch shapeshifted into a crow and followed him. 

When the crow talked to him in human language, Raden Inu Kertapati was amazed. He believed it was a magical creature that could help him found Candra Kirana. So, he followed the crow's leads. He didn't realize that the crow led him further away from Candra Kirana.

One day, Raden Inu Kertapati met an elderly, who asked for some food. Being the kind person he was, the prince happily shared his food. It turned out that the elderly was a wise man; who knew the evil crow had tricked the prince. So, as a payback to the prince's kindness, he hit the crow until it evaporated into a puff of smoke. Then he told him where to find Candra Kirana.

Thus, Raden Inu Kertapati set off to Dadapan village. It was a long journey. Several days later, the prince ran out of provisions, so he approached the closest house to ask for water. Imagine his delight when he saw Candra Kirana was cooking in there. He rushed into the house, and their reunion broke the curse.

Soon the couple returned to the kingdom of Daha and told the misfortune of Candra Kirana. Afraid of King's wrath, princess Galuh ran to the woods. That's the last time anyone heard of her.

In the end, Raden Inu Kertapati and Candra Kirana lived happily ever after. They invited the old lady to live in the palace and took care of her.

I use the Freedom app that blocks YouTube and other sites that distract me - and sometimes I use a brain entrainment app to help stimulate my brain. It seems to help a bit. Also listening to music can help. Atm my focus is pretty shot but I have found these things have helped.

🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic?

It was a pretty natural progression, as a kid I loved imagining myself in the things I loved, usually as a cool or interesting character, and then I found fanfiction thanks to my hyperfixation on LOTR and I developed from there. I just really love exploring the worlds of the things I enjoy, imaging more adventures in the worlds, or changes to the canon story.

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

Mmm, depends, I may reread a couple of times in a short space of time, and then I won't for ages. I don't like reading much older stuff, but I recently reread all of my Loki mega series because I wanted to remember the plot threads in the hope I may one day finish it. I will often go back to stuff in my most active fandom for fun too.

📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?

Oh absolutely, I've always wanted to be a published author. I've dozens of different stories, from a big world building fantasy series with one story focused on that world's first ever sorcerer, to a couple of thrillers set in the real world, to a kind of fairy tale inspired story that looks at what comes after happy ever after.

You can't anticipate how people will read your work, both good and bad, and you will always write your best if you find your particular spin on the subject, not what someone else wants you to write.

🔮 Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?

Given how much I struggle with both, I guess I can only say be kind to yourself, especially with burnout. With a block, try to listen to yourself -- you likely know there's a problem further back in the story that needs fixing if you're stuck in the middle of writing.

If you're struggling to start, write the shit version and start wherever you want, because it's much easier to work on something that already exists.

Actually, no one has asked me this before. My blog really hasn’t been popular (receiving a lot of notes) until I began posting about Buddy Daddies and Wayne Family Adventures recently. I would be happy to give you my list. I am new to anime/manga, so I may misspell some of the Japanese names or put them in the wrong order. I apologize in advance. My list changes based on my mood and current stage in life. These are my top 10 right now.

1. Yor Forger (Spy x Family) - As an asexual person, I relate to Yor being judged by her coworkers for still being single at 27. I’m 26, so that part punched me in the gut when I first watched the anime. Also, Yor is a total badass as an assassin, is a lightweight when drinking (like me), and is the kindest person you’d ever meet. She’s an all-around great character.

2. Yelena Belova (MCU) - I am specifically talking about the MCU version of Yelena. She is also a badass, has a strong relationship with her sister, and is funny. I can’t wait to see her in Thunderbolts next year and hope the MCU makes her canonically asexual. We need the rep.

3. Tori Spring (Solitaire/Heartstopper) - Tori is canonically asexual and is so relatable in Solitaire. I’ve been through a time where I felt depressed, and Tori spoke my thoughts of being tired of everyone and everything and not understanding people being in relationships. I know that says a lot about my mental health, but yeah.

4. Hatsuharu Sohma (Fruits Basket) - Haru is the best character from Fruits Basket. He is loving, protective, and hilarious. I love how he is always looking out for his cousins, and I would love to have someone like him in my life.

5. Seishuu Handa (Barakamon) - I live in the country and greatly enjoy how Handa navigates country life and developing a deeply-rooted community in the village without developing a romantic relationship. I also love how he immediately accepted his role as big brother to Naru and Hina.

6. Kazuki Kurusu (Buddy Daddies) - This man has a huge heart and deserves the world. He loves his found family and is also the responsible one cooking and cleaning for them. Also relatable.

7. Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice) - I love me some Jane Austen, and Elizabeth is the best heroine from her books. The 2005 movie is my comfort movie.

8. Jude Duarte (The Folk of the Air series) - Badass human making her way to the top in the land of fairies. We stan the queen. I also relate to her by being an identical twin too.

9. Hestia (Greek Mythology) - I hope myths count. Hestia is the kindest goddess to everyone, even humans. Her presence is so refreshing in myths after reading about what the other gods and heroes have done…

10. Hitohito Tadano (Komi Can’t Communicate) - I’m watching this anime now and love how sweet Tadano is. He is so attentive, not only to Komi, but to all of his classmates. I love that.

Thoughts of the day after  the week after - Sanremo 2023 So The level of the line-up was a tad disappointing (and I know Sanremo songs always grow, but the ungrateful comparison with 2022 and 2021, two years which turned out to be incredible, can't be helped) and for me so was the way whole thing ended The top 5 should have been more diverse, and absolutely NOT just for the sake of it, but because imo it's simply unrealistic for those 5 to all have deserved to be there Ultimo's song was subpar even compared to other songs of his and while the song was cute I don't think I would have seen Mr. Rain in the top 3 Madame, Lazza, Elodie, Tananai and one between Anna, Marco and Coma_Cose would have been my ideal top 5, but once again the biases in this country don't fail to show up (Of course Anna would never have got that high anyway, as someone said, it's like she was playing the same match as everyone else but in a different field where she was the only one present lol) Mind you, I'm happy for Marco, he's a good guy, he's so talented (I have actually enjoyed his music since he came out of XFactor) and I'm sure he'll fare well in ESC (apparently he really wants to go this time and I even heard him speak some quite good English) I just would have preferred for something different to win, since it was there and it was good Now, to my absolute favourite things of the week! - Elodie and her fashion choices I really liked her song as well, but I especially love how hard she purposefully decided to go in looking as good as she did while singing it

- "Il bene nel male" and Madame in general I've been vibing to this gem nonstop since last tuesday and the disappointment of not only not seeing it win but it not even being in the final 5 is unquantifiable I think one of my favourite aspects about this is how unique and non-generic the story it tells is I love the grace in her ungracefulness, her gestures and face movements, how her performance steadily grew a little bit in intensity every day of the week, I love her strange fashion sense as well

A Sanremese icon in the making - Giorgia and Elisa's duet Hands down the highest moment of the week was elf and fairy queen joining their kingdoms here lol

Maki: "Zzzz... Huh? Oh! Sorry, but I kinda fell asleep during this guy's, like, history lesson! The costume is, like, really cool! I like tigers, and I've never seen one, like, used on a person before! It's really awesome!"

Kyō - "Kyo! That's, like, a really awesome outfit! It reminds me of, like, Aladdin or something! Only thing missing is, like, the glass lamp with the genie inside! But yeah, I really like this one!"

Lyall - "Ohh! That's a really neat outfit design, Lyall! It looks like something you'd see a male-version of Elsa from Frozen, like, wearing! ...You mind if I borrow that for Acey for next year's Halloween?"

Seiji - "Ohh, a king! That's nice, but... where's your, like, sparkly gold crown? All kings and queens need a crown! That's just, like, my opinion, but you can't, like, be royalty if you don't have a crown!"

Rintaro - "A dragon? ...Ohh! Does that mean you're the, like, bad guy that Kyler gets to slay to rescue the, like, princess?! We should definitely do that for a play or something!"

Yorii - "Ohh, a bunny rabbit! That's adorable! I don't really, like, know much about this Jade Rabbit thing, though. I'll have to look it up, but still, the costume is, like, really adorable!"

Ace - "Acey!! You make such, like, an adorable and handsome angel! But I hope you, like, don't literally die anytime soon. Life would be, like, hell without you! ...Sorry! I couldn't resist saying that! But still, points from me, Acey!"

Rashaad - "Rash! You look awesome as a mermaid! I'm glad I, like, inspired you! You should definitely wear that the next time you, Acey, and I all, like, go to the beach!"

Kotan - "Ahh! ...Oh! Sorry, but... that costume is... kinda, like, scary! And not in the, like, good way! Sorry dude, but this one gets a "no-pass" from me!"

Karada - "A... werewolf? I'm no, like, horror expert, but shouldn't werewolves have, like, more fur and stuff? I mean, the teeth and ears are good, but, like, everything else is... kinda plain..."

Tomi - "A vampire? That's, like, cool, but like Shian said, when did vampires, like, have feathered wings? Plus, that cape is, like, so old-school! No offense or anything, but maybe you should take lessons from your, like, little bro. He definitely did, like, a lot better than you in this round."

September Reading Wrap Up

September was a great reading month for me, and I found some new favorites. I read seven books this month, which is at the higher range of books per month for me. I read a mix of genres and new release and older books.

1.The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson 4.5/5 stars. High fantasy, this is the third book in the Mistborn series, and concludes the first trilogy. I enjoyed these books and I can see why the series is so popular. This book had a lot of twists and a ton of action.

2. A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows 5 stars. mlm fantasy romance. This new standalone quickly became a favorite, and I loved just about everything about this book. Great world/culture building, political intrigue, bursts of action, and a wonderful romance.

3. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. 5 stars, Science Fiction. I read this entirely on audiobook and this also became a new favorite. I would recommend the audiobook version, and I laughed and cried while listening to this. Another new favorite.

4. Darling Girl by Liz Micaelski 3/5 stars, fairy tale retelling. This was a Peter Pan retelling set in our modern day following the granddaughter of Wendy. This was okay, but if you like Peter pan/retellings, you may like this.

5.Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno Garcia. 4/5 stars, gothic horror. I need to keep reading more by this author, because I greatly enjoy the two books I've read by her so far. I had a lot of fun with this story and liked the crazy ending. This was a good start to spooky season, and I enjoyed this gothic horror standalone very much.

6. The Thief by Meghan Whalen Turner. 3.5/5 stars, ya high fantasy. This is the first book in the Queen's Thief series and is beloved by many on this site. I've been wanting to start this series for years because of that. I enjoyed this first book for what it is, and I think it sets up the series nicely. I've been told that the next books get very good, so I have my fingers crossed!

7. Caste: The Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. Non-fiction. I am late to the party with this book, but I enjoyed it quite a lot and I can see why it was so well liked and received. Wilkerson is on my radar now.

This is the first time I write for this fandom, i hope it's not too OOC

Once upon a time... Well not long ago there was a princess. A young and beautiful princess. Her name was [Y/N], and she was the twin sister of Prince Ben. The shy young girl was like her mother, Belle, and loved spending her free time in the library.

Everyone thought that because all of the villains and their kids were stuck on the Isle of the Lost, nothing bad could happen. They were wrong. When she was around 8 years old, little [Y/N] decided to go for a walk alone. No one knew what happened. When they found her hours later, she was asleep. Fairy Godmother managed to wake her up, but it was too late : somehow her father's curse had lingered in her DNA, and the spell she received activated it : she was the curse and the cursed, condamned to see roses appearing on her body until ten years later, when her time would be up and she would die. The King and Queen of Auradon tried many things, but the curse would not go away. Even the water of the Enchanted Lake did nothing. The only thing that could save her was a true love kiss, but the princess did not cared about that, everytime someone would bring this up she would just say that it wasn't an option for her. The truth was that she did not wanted a prince or one of those preppy guys of Auradon, but it was the only chooice she had.

By the time she was 16, her brother beacame king and she was completely resigned. She was the one who got the idea of the Villain Kid program, and she was happy of how it turned out, even if she wasn't Mal's biggest fan. The purple haired girl had also tried to remove the curse, without success.

With the curse, [Y/N]'s hair were slowly turning red, the color of the rose, and she could grew red roses with magic. A very little consolation for the girl who was slowly dying. She was trying to read as many books as she could, engaging as much as she could with the alternative community of Auradon by giving bands money, funding shows and safe places for the queer community she was part of.

This was why she couldn't get why Mal wanted so much to blend in : she was ready to give up everything that made her herself to get accepted by others. So when Mal decided to go ack to the Isle, she followed along with Ben and the others VK to bring Mal back.

Finally on the Isle, she turned to a tunnel that she felt weirdly attracted to. But the VK made sure that she was following them, on the other side of the Isle. [Y/N] found it very funny to see her brother trying desperatly to be chillin' like a villain, while this felt so natural to her after years hanging around punk, goth and emo. In fact, she was even wearing her usual clothes, and here her blood red hair were not unusual. Not getting any bad look for her smokey eyes... It was so different from Auradon. And after seeing how poor it was, she decided that she and Ben would have to do something for those kids that couldn't come, so at least they had better life conditions. While following the others to Mal's hideout, she thought about it. Maybe clothes? More diverse fresh food? Medecine? These kids were not their parents, they deserved a chance. She had to find a solution for that. [Y/N] would have to talk about it with Evie later.

Soon they found themselves at the core four hideout, and Ben trying to talk to Mal. Something that clearly didn't worked. Defeated, he walked away, but didn't come back. Evie started to get worried, but soon felt relieved when she saw someone walk back. “Ben, don't scare us like that” But [Y/N] knew it was not her brother . “Don't scare ye? But that's my speciality ~” Instead of her brother stood a very hot pirate boy with guyliner. Like earlier, that feeling got to her. She remembered her mother talking about true love, but shook the thought away : she would not have her happy ending, no need to give herself false hope. The Vks learned that Harry (it was his name, that's how Evie called him, and it fitted him so well thought [Y/N]) and Uma's pirates had kidnapped the king, and Mal would have to meet Uma to get him back. Before leaving, Harry turned to [Y/N] “Your highness” and blew her a kiss. She felt herself blush, before following the Vks to the hideout as the pretty pirate walked away.

It got decided that Mal would see Uma, and that no matter what [Y/N] would stay at the hideout. When Mal got back, defeated she admited what she had promised to Uma : the magic wand for Ben. The Vks all left to get everything ready for the next day while she had to wait in the hideout. [Y/N] decided to sleep it away, curled up in an old blanket, all thoughts turned to an emo pirate.

The morning came soon, and the time to get to the docks. The princess felt amazed by the beautiful ship that was Uma's, The Lost Revenge, and even more of the certain pirate that welcomed them. Face hidden behind her hood, no one could recognize her, except him as it seemed when he threatened Mal and got told to chill by Uma.

Giving the princess a smile, he blew her a kiss and walked back to Ben. When Mal got the king back, everything seemed under control but Uma quickly discovered that the wand was fake. A fight broke, and [Y/N] found herself fighting against two pirates at the same time. Throwing one overboard, she managed to get rid of the other before being engaged in a fight with no other that Harry Hook himself. Her hood had fallen during the fight, revelling her red hair and her face to the world. “What a pleasure to meet ye again princess” She smiled at the pirate, and even manage to get over her shyness and flirt back as they fought.

She felt hurt when the time to come home came, and she had to leave him behind. Uma, Harry? Gil... They had done nothing to derserve to be on the isle, and yet they were condemned to stay. The cursed princess promised herself to do what she could to help them, within the few years she had left. They had a future, and they deserved to live a normal life where they would not have to steal to survive.

What happenend to the Cotillon took her completely by surprise. Uma, dancing with her brother, then fighting a dragon version of Mal... She tried to reason Uma, offer her a second chance but the captain and her both knew that it could not happen that way. So the goddess left, leaving the princess even more convinced of what she needed to do.

The next year, while Mal and guards were desperately trying to find Uma, the young woman was protected by [Y/N] who needed her help to put her plan on action : while Uma was trying to find her own way to get the barrier down, with Uma's help [Y/N] was organizing weekly shipment of fresh food, medecine clothes and other essentials at the destinations of the Vks stuck on the isle. Cinderella helped the princess funding the program, and soon shipment were made every week, while the Vk program was relaunched by Evie, with Dizzy, Celia and the Smee twins.

With Ben, Evie and Mal they all took a limo to get the kids. [Y/N] with a message from the captain that she hoped she could give the pretty pirate. She would often get on the ship assuring the shippment to get sure that everything was okay, and to discuss with the Vks to know if something else was needed . She would also give Harry message from Uma, and get his to the captain. A friendship had bloomed between them.

Getting out of the limo, she spotted the twins and the pirates surrounding them. Seing her friends and brother busy with the two girls, she went to the boys to welcome them. Behind them, she spotted a pirate with guyliner that send her a smile she returned. He seemed healthier, and more muscular than before. Her program definitely worked well. She greeted them, and assured Mr Smee that she would personally look after the twins. She wanted to talk to Harry, but did not got the chance to and got told by Ben it was time to go.

She still managed to slip Uma's message along with one from her in Harry's hand , putting his in her jacket before leaving. When they passed the barrier, Hades tried to escape and Mal turned into a dragon to push him back. When she got back in the limo, she had an expression on her face that [Y/N] did not liked, but she pushed it aside.

The curse was slowly creeping, getting closer. When [Y/N] was feeling intense emotions, roses would start to bloom around her. She had more red hair than brown, and her eyes were sometimes shining red.

The cursed princess had less than a year left, and would try everything to hide to those around her that she was dying. She did not wanted sadness around her, only to live at her maximum. Maybe she could even get more kids off the isle, because who would dare not realising deathwish?

Despite everything, the princess made sure that the Vks would feel at home in Auradon, and that the weekly shipment to the isle would carry on despite the people, including royalties, that were against it. It was not their place to decide who deserved it or not. It was not even [Y/N]'s place. She trusted Harry and the pirates to make sure the right persons would get what they needed, and Uma trusted them two. The girls were now friends, and the two of them were trying to get kids off the isle by their own way. But as time flew, [Y/N] got worried that she would never managed to do that.

The princess was getting ready for Jane's birthday party that would happen later today. People were getting concerned because of the missing scepter of Maleficent, but to not make people panic it had been decided that the less people knew the better. [Y/N] had a weird feeling about the day, and before leaving her room decided to switch her high heels for a pair of fancy but way more comfortable pair of plateform shoes, some custom New Rock that Ben got for her 16 birthday. She finally left the castle and drove her motorbike to the Enchanted Lake where the party was held.

When Audrey showed up, with Maleficent scepter and spelled everyone, she jumped from her hiding spot to the lake, and stayed inside until the pink smoke had dissolved. Trying to get herself dryer, she took off her jacket, revealling the roses covered in thornes covering her amrs and reaching her shoulders. She did not had to lift her sleeveless shirt to know that the roses were on her belly and chest too. Her time was almost up, it was now a matter of weeks. She noticed Jane, and felt relieved that the fae had the same idea. They filled bottles and a water gun with enchanted water in case, and left the party behind. They had a kingdom to save.

They decided to go toward Evie's place, because it was most likely that the Core four had manage to escape the curse, so they thought it was the safest place to go. That's how they found Ben and thanks to him [Y/N]'s pretty pirate. Carlos, Jay, Gil and Harry had been sent to look after the king, and the rose princess felt relieved to see them.

She ran to her emo pirate and hug him tight: with Harry and Gil, she would be safe. And it was all that mattered to her now. She also gave Gil and her brother a hug before they all head back to Evie's. Walking between Gil and Harry, she reached toward Harry's hand. He semed surprised at first, but interwined his fingers with hers, allowing the two of them to relax.

They only let go of each other's hand when [Y/N] when to hug Uma, in front of the cottage. The girl had been worried for the sea witch, hoping that the curse had not affected her. That's how she learned that Mal had promise to set set free the Vks in exchange of the ember. The princess felt relieved : she would get to see them free before the curse took over. But it did not last long: Mal admitted that she wanted to definitely close the barrier. “No ! You can't do that? What about the necessary shipment that I struggled to put in place?” “What about the kids you're leaving to rot!” Everyone was mad at Mal, betrayed. So [Y/N] had to leave the only friends she had behind? At least they would not have to see her dying... But it was a worse fate for them, they could never get out of this hell. Before the sea three left, she hug them all with all the love she had. Harry wipped off her tears before blowing her a kiss with a sad smile.It was his goodbye for her.

The last thing the rose princess saw was her favorite pirates walking away from her, before a pink smoke surrounded her and everything went pitch black.

When she gained counsciousness back, she saw the vks and her brother doing the same. She didn't knew what had happened, until Jay said that they had most likely been turned to stone like most had been at Auradon prep. They all went back there, knowing that if the spell was broken it would be were everyone would be.

Mal, with Uma's help had bet Audrey, but Sleeping Beauty's daughter was now asleep. Life sliping away from her. “Like I will soon” muttered the princess. Luckily, no one heard her. She got to say goodbye to her pirates, before going to rest. She couldn't wait for the guards to get Hadès to be sure that Audrey would wake up, [Y/N] felt way too tired for that. She was exausted, and fell asleep in her clothes.

When she learned that Audrey was safe the next day [Y/N] felt relieved, but still heartbroken for Uma, Gil and Harry. Harry, the one that could have saved her. The true love she thought she would never get. But it was too late. Everyone thought that she still had a few weeks, but Audrey's spell had accelerated the process : she knew it was now a matter of days. When everyone was busy getting Mal's coronation ready, she was getting her last wishes ready.

Her hair almost completely red styled by Dizzy to hold still her crown, with a dress that barely covered anymore the roses covering her body, full of thornes. She had been feeling particularly tired for the past few days, and she knew her time was almost up. It was a matter of hours, unsure if she would see the sun rise the next day. A next day without harry, trapped on the isle.

She managed to behave like everything was alright, but no amount of make up covered the bags under her eyes, and everyone could see how tired she was, that something was wrong. People were wondering about the roses peaking from her clothes. She hoped that from their old TV, her friends would not see that something was up. They had enough to be worried about themselves.

Standing straight beside her brother, she listen to Mal, half listening until she heard the dragon say her name “ And I've never seen [Y/N] happier than when she is with Uma, Harry and Gil” She then invited the princess and the Vks to join her, to spell the barrier. The rose princess' smile had never been bigger : finally her friends and all those Vks were free.

She was too tired to run to the bridge like many did, so she waited beside Lumière for her friends. As she finally spotted her favorites pirates, she felt dizzy and everything started spinning. The rose princess fell, and did not got up. Uma, aware of the curse was the first one to react. “Shit Audrey's spell must have accelerated the process”. Tears were rolling on Harry's face as Uma told him about the curse.

Ben was heartbroken to see his sister, lifeless in Harry's arms. Fairy Godmother, who had joined them, quietly told them it was too late, they had to say their goodbyes. Pushing aside [Y/N]'s hair, Harry lovingly kissed her forehead. “Love ye [Y/N]” With these words, the rose princess gave her last breath...

Or that was what everyone thought. The roses were slowly fading, leaving her skin bare. And with another breath, she opened her eyes, meeting Harry's gaze. Lifting her am, she softly wipped Harry's tears before embracing him. “I always thought I would never get my happy ending...” Harry broke the hug, and kissed her again : this time on her lips.

They could get their hapily ever after together, and no magic would ever get between them again.
