Wow, okay, thanks for sending this, and first of all, I hope you enjoyed getting high, LOL. I guess there's nothing like getting high and starting to wonder about the yaoi side of Simon & Garfunkel.

I am not a Simon & Garfunkel historian, so to speak, but I have been a fan for quite some time and I have read all the biographies there are to read, I have done my fair share of research into them, so I do think I know a bit about the S&G "lore". Ever since the first time I saw the Concert in Central Park and seeing the same "vibe" you did during The Boxer, I've also 'shipped' them. That is to say, while I do not think that they were ever in a romantic relationship and everything that that entails, I don't rule out at all that anything of a sexual nature happened between them. Other people seem to think that too, hence the 'yaoi' posts you see on tumblr.

Their relationship was/is a really complicated one and I'm not sure any of us know exactly what happened to make them where they are now - supposedly on no speaking terms. I mean, Paul said in his recent documentary that Art turned from someone who 'got it for him" into someone he hopes never to see again, which...ouch x 1000.

For you and for everyone else getting into Simon & Garfunkel, here's a little crash course.

TL;DR they're both idiots who got along reasonably well if it wasn't about their professional business. Their creative differences re: music (and personal grievances) were always so large (as were their egos) that they followed a pattern of getting together to try (again), fought, were on no speaking terms for a decade, thought to give it another try, and repeat, ad infinitum. In fanfic terms, they are the epitome of strangers to friends to lovers to enemies to friends to lovers to enemies to...

1950s

Paul and Art are childhood friends. They lived a few streets away from each other in Queens, NY, and they went to the same school. They're the same age, born three weeks apart. They formally met when they were eleven, at the school play for Alice in Wonderland (Paul was the White Rabbit, Art the Cheshire Cat). Soon after, they started recording songs in their basements, trying to copy their heroes, the Everly Brothers. They got signed by Big Records by someone called Sid Prosen, called themselves Tom (Art) and Jerry (Paul) and released a fairly successful single called 'Hey Schoolgirl' when they were 16, which even made them go on Dick Clark's American Bandstand show (footage sadly does not survive). Paul recorded a song by himself, without telling Art, while he called himself True Taylor, and Art found out, 'shattering' the friendship with Paul for the first time. (It seems to have never recovered to how it was before). I coin this the True Taylor Incident™️. Alledgedly they didn't speak to each other for a couple of years after graduating high school (1958-1962-ish). During that time, Art recorded a few songs as Artie Garr, and Paul did as well, as Jerry Landis.

1960s

Paul went to study in Queens College, NY, and Art went to Columbia University (there he met his blind roommate Sanford, which is a whole other interesting side story). Paul and Art got reacquainted with each other, performed as a duo again and managed to get signed to Columbia records to record an album in March 1964, which was to be released in October 1964.

Meanwhile, Paul often went to England and mainland Europe (France, Denmark, the Netherlands...) and there he met Kathy who became his girlfriend (Hence, Kathy's Song, and "Kathy I'm lost, I said" from America). He also recorded a solo album while in the UK, called The Paul Simon Songbook. Art went to visit him a few times.

Their first album, Wednesday Morning 3AM, flopped; Art stayed in school and Paul went back to the UK. The album did contain the song The Sound of Silence (acoustic version) and a really interesting thing happened in late 1965 when someone decided to put electric guitars to the track and suddenly it got airplay. Paul was in Denmark when the song was really starting to do well on the charts, and he had to rush home to NYC when the song became number one.

Then, Paul and Artie were suddenly famous! They quickly recorded another album with several songs that were on The Paul Simon Songbook, but now Art's harmonies were on there. They did a lot of tv performances in 1966 and 1967 and toured mainly in the college and university circuits. (I will link some tv peformances and so on later, in another post).

I'm skipping over some things now, but in my opinion, trouble for their relationship really began again when they started recording their album Bookends and Paul had been writing music for The Graduate (Mrs. Robinson) (1968). The director of The Graduate, Mike Nichols, had asked Art and Paul to act in his next movie, Catch-22, but Paul's scenes got cut, and Art went to Mexico on his own for the better part of the first half of 1969, just when they were supposed to record their next album, Bridge Over Troubled Water. Tensions ran super high at that time. Plus, Paul had written the song Bridge Over Troubled Water for Art to sing, but he later said that Art first refused to sing it (Art said that he wanted Paul to sing it in a lovely falsetto voice) and later, during concerts, Art took standing ovations while finishing the song, while Paul was jealous that he didn't get songwriting credits on stage. Paul also said that Art was leaving him to do movies...not long after Catch-22, Art got invited to play a role in Mike Nichols' next movie, Carnal Knowledge. (see also: Why Don't You Write Me...."if it's only to say that you're leaving me"). The whole Bridge Over Troubled Water album is one big breakup album.

Meanwhile, Paul had gotten married to Simon & Garfunkel's manager's ex-wife (I still can't fathom this) and Peggy also kind of encouraged him to go solo. Paul also claimed that his musical interests and Art's were drifting apart, so eventually, they split in 1970. Artie thought they were only taking a break, and allegedly he didn't realize they were really done.

1970s

Both starting solo careers, they reunited a few times as well, such as for the McGovern benefit concert in 1972, and most notably in the second Saturday Night Live episode in 1975 (tell me they're not flirting the whole time). Paul had even written a song, My Little Town, that the both of them performed for the reunion and was featured on both of their (solo) albums There was also a reunion for Paul's The Paul Simon Special (1977), the Brittania Awards (1977) and some other benefit concerts.

1980s

Paul was approached by a concert producer about playing in Central Park and maybe doing a few songs with Art, and Paul was like, I can't very well play support to Simon & Garfunkel, so it was decided that the whole concert was supposed to be the both of them. And time it was, what a time it was! Safe to say the concert was a success, even though they were fighting again (Art wanted to stay as close to the accoustic sets they used to do in the college performances, and Paul wanted a big band on stage). The interviews before the performance are awkward as usual, but it seems that for the performance itself they kind of set their differences aside, and they seem to be having a good time on stage, as good as it gets with these two. The back rub during The Boxer is...I can't explain it, but that was a lovely gesture by Art.

Because the concert in Central Park had been so successful, they were going to bank on that success and do a whole reunion tour AND a reunion album in 1982-1983, but that seems to have been a very miserable experience for them both. Their body language in interviews says it all. It culminated in Paul wiping Art's vocals from what was supposed to be their reunion album and releasing it as a solo album. Safe to say they were on no speaking terms again for a while, lmao, especially when their professional endeavours were concerned. They did hang out sometimes in private, because Paul had married Carrie Fisher and Art was seeing Carrie's friend Penny. Then Paul got famous with Graceland and Artie was once again, forgotten.

1990s

They got inducted in the Hall of Fame (another miserable experience), Paul did another concert in Central Park (without any sign of Art this time) and they did a few reunion concerts in NYC and so, but neither of them looked very happy about that, if you ask me. In fact, the less they had to look at each other, the better. There was apparently one instance where they were fighting and someone had to stand in between them, or they would have physically started attacking each other? Sounds like a lot of fun, huh? Start of another decade of not speaking to each other.

2000s

After getting a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, they thought it was a good idea to get together again and do a reunion your, and that seemed to work, for a while. They toured the United States (2003-2004), Europe (2004), Australia/NZ and Japan (2009) and were about to embark on yet some more shows in the fall of 2010, but then Art Lost His Voice (you can see this happening right in front of your salad at the April 2010 Jazz Fest, but they were still very chummy then).

What happened in 2010...no idea, but it wasn't good. And then Art made things much, much worse when he did an interview in 2015, called Paul a Monster, and idiot and a jerk, and how could he leave a successful formula like Simon & Garfunkel behind and no amount of groveling that Art has done since (like begging Paul to call him in an interview) has helped. They are still on no speaking terms.

Now all we can do is wait and hope they come to their senses and kind of make up before they die. Under no circumstances do I still want them to sing together, but damn, if all of us don't want them to just both sit on the edge of a park bench, like bookends, I don't know anymore.

My take on the whole thing: they were good friends as kids, Art never got over the True Tailor Incident and that stayed with him forever; he always saw Paul as someone who could betray him in the blink of an eye. Paul was envious of Art's looks (and height); meanwhile Art wasn't a songwriter, so Paul had that advantage over him. It's not a good balance to be in such a close partnership. Perhaps at one point something did happen between them, complicating things even more, because can you really hate someone that much if you don't have strong feelings for them either? In later years, it seems to be mainly the "creative differences" about the music that was causing a rift, but maybe after all is said and done, perhaps Carrie Fisher said it best "not only do I not like you, but I don't like you personally." Paul 'cheated' on Art with True Taylor and, like any other one half of a (married) couple, he tried to get over it, but never could. (and maybe Paul is a jerk lmao. But Art was no angel either).

It really buoys me that people enjoy Julia, thanks for the message! I made her in World of Warcraft at a very difficult point in my life as some distraction and escape, she’s very close to my heart, and her story coalesced as I went along playing the game. I’ll cobble together some snippets from previous posts that can be found in her tag on my blog.

Julia is a most knightly knight, chilvalric and noble by birth and to her core. She leads with action, example, and proves herself with deeds. She’s not a great orator, she was never destined to be a Queen, but it’s hard to find a soldier who can inspire more loyalty and valour than the Lady Blackbrooke, Knight of Brightwater.

She’s honest, forthright, skeptical and kind.

Julia spent her living years as a Paladin of Lordaeron and lady of a vassal house that served the Menethil family faithfully.

She bore one child out of wedlock, a son, at a young age and had to send him away to live with a family friend.

Later she had a daughter.

She died when the undead Scourge sacked Lordaeron and was raised on the battlefield as a Death Knight.

She served in the Lich King’s army for years as a commander, able to raise new dead and knights, until the knights of the Ebon Blade were freed.

Through the story since Wrath she has served in the Alliance army, leading both living troops and a cohort of Alliance-loyal Ebon Blade knights.

She is a Deathlord, highest rank of the Ebon Blade undead knights and frequent critic of/counterbalance to Bolvar.

I like to connect my OCs together and imagine their stories like the cast of a novel or show, and her family- House Blackbrooke- is ancient and honourable. It has ties to elves, other human kingdoms, and was deeply mourned when it was seemingly wiped out during the Scourge of Lordaeron.

Her firstbirn son, Ballard, was raised by the Summerkeep family. He is a scholar and explorer and lives quietly in Dalaran with his partner Reko (my friend heychief’s character).

Julia’s daughter Geneveive is newly returned to the life by the grace of a red dragon, and has stayed with the Horde that sheltered her when she was one of the Forsaken.

Julia herself has found some happiness with a large brash man named Rorred (also heychief’s OC), whose village she destroyed when she was under the Lich King’s control, and his companionship has helped her reconnect with the world again. 

I think the next part of her story will involve reconnecting with her children, but I’m not sure how it’ll go! I just like thinking about them all a lot :)

Fuck yeah, I’m doing this again, because the other one sucked.

As the URL says, I’m cheeto-flavoured-pasta. Or just Cheeto. Or Pasta. I really don’t care. This was meant to be a strict writeblr-only, but I ditched it halfway through. This is a writeblr account, sure, but I do post/reblog other off-topic things (e.g. memes, rants, politics, etc.). Most of those are tagged under “not writeblr.”

I’m a hobbyist writer hoping to publish officially one day. I’ve hopped around online writing platforms (e.g Tapas or Webnovel; I am very hesitant about using Wattpad, sorry) but currently I’m not very active on many of them. I mostly write science fiction, dystopia (a mix of the two, really), with a side of some fantasy or contemporary works. Genre fiction aside, I occasionally dabble in poetry, be it free-verse, rhyming, or prose poems.

General Concept [Book One]: It's been a year since Sylvester Strike woke up in the society of Xenom, where people are augmented cybernetically to accommodate to the work they do for the large companies that run the state — the Reform, everyone calls it. Much like everyone else, his memories are hazy, and all he can trust is the story of whatever government official came before him. The moment he tries to move on and accept his situation, his friend goes missing, and in the process, he’s forced to find out not only the real story of what happened before the Reform, but his own past as well.

I haven’t talked about this one at all, and that’s because there’s still some things left to this idea that I’ve yet to flesh out. Expect to hear a lot more about it once I’ve actually started writing it. I’ll definitely be making a WIP intro at some point in the coming months (hopefully. If I forget, show up to my door and slap me).

Aside from my mess of writing and novels and short stories and whatever shit goes on in my brain, here’s some other things to know about this blog:

For the headcanon meme: Erestor + ☆☠☼ൠ

Alrighty then! About time I talked about my boy Erestor again on this blog, appreciate the opportunity🖤

☆ - happy headcanon

So I see Erestor as a more reserved person in general, which fortunately or unfortunately (your choice) also applies to situations like him showing affection to the people he loves and cares about. Instead he'll express himself in more subtle ways. For example there may be a warmer, more intimate tone to his letters and notes to someone (sometimes even turned into carefully folded origami animals), longer and more casual conversations during which he'll share things that are currently on his mind or recent events he found amusing or just small acts of service that show he's paying extra attention to someone's needs.

☠ - angry/violent headcanon

On the flipside, the aforementioned reserved attitude also comes into play when Erestor doesn't like someone or something upset him. His anger is a quietly simmering thing. Sometimes there isn't even a "straw that broke the camel's back" or blow up moment either and he'll just distance himself from the person who hurt or upset him without having a direct conversation about it.

People not familiar with Erestor sometimes confuse the "not knowing him yet" state with this, thinking that he doesn't like them for whatever reason or has something against them. The fact that he can be stubborn if he wants to doesn't help matters either.

☼ - appearance headcanon

I see Erestor as someone who enjoys the "elegant but plain" aesthetic. He's always well-dressed and well-groomed, but never extravagant, opting for simple braids, relatively mono-colored outfits and few pieces of jewelry to name some examples. Next to our dignified lord Elrond and pretty, sparkly Glorfindel in particular he can look a little wallflower-y in terms of presenting himself.

This does, of course, not take away from his pretty features, it's just that he prioritizes other things and is in the unfortunate position of being surrounded by incredibly charismatic people.

ൠ - random headcanon

For this, I'm going to share some thoughts relating to the "Erestor son of Caranthir and Haleth" headcanon. I don't know who originally came up with that one, so best I can do is give a little shout-out to my good friends @i-did-not-mean-to and @maglor-my-beloved for telling me about it.

With that out of the way - in this scenario, Erestor would be a Peredhel and therefore receive the choice which kindred he wants to belong to. My current idea is that he wasn't aware of this until he met Elrond and learned of his and Elros' sundered fates. Erestor, however, had his mind made up long before this: When he thinks of his childhood, he distinctly remembers how melancholic Caranthir would often be, especially after Haleth passed away, and he doesn't want to leave his loved ones behind like that, even if immortality can become a heavy burden to bear. Elrond's story would then only serve to reinforce a decision he's subconsciously made years ago and, if it isn't already, it would become final when he sais west with the others.

I suppose this would also add an interesting layer to him accompanying Arwen to her wedding.

Using this blog to collect animation references and post about our hyperfixations. Surprise surprise I really like Victor Saltzpyre as a written character, their voice actor does a phenomenal job, and the Witch Hunter Captain class is just really fun to play.

I will complain and say that the warhammer fanbase being filled with fascists who don't have the braincells to comprehend subtext and parody makes things a bit of a slog.

I will also complain that Saltzpyre is the fruitiest character alive, whose VA developed his voice from gay actor Kenneth Williams. 15:50 in this interview stream.

"And he was very you know, very camp, very gay. And in the days when you weren't allowed to be. When it was illegal. The weird thing it happened in America as well, was it was alright to be kind of camp and you know sound a bit fae and a bit kind of....you know. Gay. But you weren't allowed to be. So homosexuality was illegal. But being funny and camp was okay. And Kenneth Williams used to do this thing where he'd be; at one minute kind of completely London and then go into a whole posh sort of voice like that. And talk to any englishman and they go: yeah man you're just channeling Kenneth Williams."

I notice that in the fanbase where Victor's character, his gay way of being is sort of skewed and interpreted as him being just silly. Lot of meme shit has him as this straight pussy slayer gangster. How they kind of overide such mannerisms as just him being funny and camp. Not that he isn't funny or silly on his own right, but I reflect on how if this very same character was revealed as gay a lot of people who enjoy him probably wouldn't anymore. How the games themselves are littered with both homophobes and lgbt individuals. I think a lot about censorship.

And I think about straight interpretations of the character, which while there are some good bits of fanfic--quite a few of them derive on the nonconsensual. On unhealthy male and female dynamics. I also think of the lack of chemistry involved there. How with Sienna it's considered a "forbidden love" sort of deal, even though, it is in fact: a straight couple. It's not to say that the pairing can't be done well, and not to admonish those who do like it. (It's a dumb funny rat game and none of this matters in the grand scheme of things ship who you want I'm just an old grumpy cuss.) and it will probably be confirmed by the devs to be cannon anyways. But I always saw Victor and Kruber, two soldiers of the empire, one of polytheism and monotheism, sir and subordinate dynamics to be more interesting and barely written about. I want to make more stories and characters following their relationship. I want to write about gay 40 year old men, puritans who haven't experienced love, and big old male sluts who have shagged and been shagged more times than they can count. Of power and subservience and breaking the gender binaries. Of healing and of faggy banter.

There's a lot to explore and writing about them and drawing them has helped me figure out a lot about my own characters I want to write about. As well as what I enjoy and my own homosexuality as well. A lot to ruminate on. Just goes to show what a good game with great writers and actors can do lol.

Gotta be honest, once I get into a fandom I will leave the main tags as soon as I find my niche and a group of blogs to follow and a few Discord servers to join, and not venture out into the main fandom again. Idk what's popular. I have complained about many takes, but I am also very forgetful so.... Uh, Vox is asexual, Alastor is actually a terrible person (affectionate), Valentino absolutely has a tragic backstory (and is still so evil <3 ), Velvette is literally The Worst and kinda a pick-me girl (I love her), Charlie doesn't understand how to help people and it is detrimental to the people she's trying to help (I also love her). Carmilla is so ridiculous and I don't understand shipping her with Velvette. I don't get Husk (derogatory, but only slightly and mostly in a 'I don't think his writing was consistent, and he was used - as many characters on this series were - as more of a plot device than a complete character in his own right. His dialogue was thrown in to tell-not-show aspects of other characters in a way that felt inorganic to me, which turned me off of his character almost completely' way). Boom, there, so many unpopular opinions <3

Velvette is so connected to phones and apps and things of that modern tech nature. Therefore: Velvette also broadcasts and recieves radio waves, but only those in the Bluetooth spectrum. She can AirDrop memes onto Vox's face (or, in canon, call his TV head directly, bypassing his phone). Vox is so absolutely not replacing the quiet ease he and Alastor used to share with their similar thinking/perceiving/broadcasting methods (it's alll radio waves) with Velvette. Totally. Totally. His past relationships would never~ cloud how he treats her.

Well first of all Me I'm writing it!! So incredibly slowly and badly, but I am writing it nonetheless 😤 I actually have two or three or a dozen ideal dream ideas rattling around in my brain. Obviously, my beloved Damaged Nerve where I throw 20 ideas I enjoy together into one fic (or at least talk about doing that bc. I am always getting distracted instead of updating it). Service shark Vark!!! The VoxVal non-consenual consensual non-consent (it makes sense to me)! Velvette!! Vox killing angels with his bare hands! And getting an arm and half his head cut off (he gets better immediately bc he is all easily replaceable parts)! Charlie and Vaggie watching a Sinner attacking Exorcists right before Charlie was supposed to present her rehabilitation project and having to defend ideas, which is suddenly made even more difficult for her because now it looks like Overlords are planning to fight back against the Exterminations, and he didn't win but neither did the angels, so maybe Hell can fight back against Heaven (wasn't that why the Exterminations happen? Because Heaven is afraid of them uprising? Well, maybe they should be afraid...) Vaggie fallen angel feelings (those were her sisters and she's so bitter about them and she's so scared for them)! The timeline of Exterminations being moved up and Vox getting blamed for it! (Sinners who were previously excited about what he did turn against him bc of the backlash from Heaven and from other Sinners.) Carmilla hating the Vees! Inane and uniformed, smug wannabes! (She still killed an Exorcist for real tho, and Vox only wounded the ones he fought. She thinks she's better than him because she fought to protect the people she loves. Vox literally also did that, except it wasn't people it was a shark. She'd hate that too.) VoxVal horrible terrible no good very unhealthy relationship! VoxValVel also horrible relationship <3 They love each other, they can't live without each other <3 None of them are allowed to leave this ship, even when it's sinking <3 Vox won't lose a partner again; no one else can leave him like Alastor did.

But right now I've been working on a Vox & The Vees-centric rape recovery (or, well, there's not much recovery happening yet. It is just a long and drawn out breakdown where they madly scramble to resecure their power and influence and become more powerful so no one can ever hurt any of them again, and become so codependent) fic and it is everything to me and I do not have it really plotted out, I just have so many Thoughts and vaguely connected scenes for it that I bother people on discord with (hi to any people on discord reading this. Also I am (thanks to your ask about Vox's biology from earlier), daydreaming about a fic I have lovingly named Planned Obsolescence (tho I'm gonna have to make sure no one's taken that title yet) about Vox upgrading himself and upgrading himself and upgrading himself and he can never stay satisfied because the world marches on and he has to march with it, he can't be left behind because he needs to be the one innovating and leading. And upgrading himself.

Also!! Holy fuck I just remembered but I've run into it twice now. The Implication that rape is worse when it happens to someone who is already sex repulsed. Like specifically in these scenarios the rape was not a punishment not an attempt at corrective rape. Like, that I would get, actually, if the motivation itself was a hate crime, which adds a whole other dimension to worry about. But, no. That wasn't. I can't even articulate the poor taste it left in my mouth, it's just. Why would you make a character more horrified to learn their friend was raped after they also learned that their friend is ace? "He never would have wanted it-" hello?????? Yeah! That's why it's called rape????

(But also - while I do absolutely love reading about sex repulsed aro/ace characters (lol they're so me) - oftentimes a big part of what I am looking for in a story about rape recovery is a character struggling with the fact that their body did "enjoy" the physical sensation. That sex is supposed to happen with someone you love/are attracted to/trust, and this was a perversion of it, and it fucks up how you view future sexual relationships.) (And like, the physical sensation being pleasurable while your mind feels only disgust and repulsed is. An aspect that I feel like many can relate to, not only sex repulsed aces. Unless I'm projecting??) (Of course, recovery from the perspective of a character who was sex repulsed and remains so is also so so good.) (In general, it's a topic that needs to be portrayed with a kind of nuance and understanding that is often hard for an author to find the right words for. I'm sure I've even written thing poorly here, and inevitably said something that will be hurtful to a person with a different perspective than my own. Sorry! But such is the reality of everyone being individuals, unfortunately. The things that bring some people comfort will cause other people distress.)

Saiyuki boys (Hakkai, Goku, Gojyo and Sanzo) tumblr

I had so much fun imagining and writing this ask. It amused me greatly and I really appreciate the request, anon dear! I hope you’ll enjoy the headcanons!

Sanzo

So, I’ve always headcanoned Sanzo to have a lot of ‘old man’ traits and high among them is the fact that he’s really not all that technologically gifted. At all, really. He just doesn’t understand how to use technology and he doesn’t spend a lot of time on the internet. He really only has a tumblr because the others, especially Goku, would have bothered him into getting one. Even then, he doesn’t really use it often and he often forgets he even has one. It can be months between him logging in.

He doesn’t really understand how to use themes and even has trouble figuring out how to put an avatar up and he’s definitely not going to think to ask the others for help, half because he doesn’t really care and half because he has his pride so his tumblr is so very basic. His tumblr handle is leavemealonealready, but his blog doesn’t have a title or anything notable about it.

He follows Goku, Hakkai, and Gojyo because they make him but other than that, he doesn’t follow too many people, mostly just tumblrs dedicated to cute animals (he definitely follows dogposts and only-cat-memes). He doesn’t do the whole follow-back thing. He’s also horrible for never reblogging and only liking things.

Hakkai

Tumblr is very much a Hakkai thing and he’s probably actually the one to not only have gotten the others into it, but to use it the most. If the Saiyuki universe had tumblr, I could definitely see Hakkai scrolling through his dash whenever he got bored, though I don’t think he creates original posts often.

He does put a lot of thought into his tumblr handle, blog title, theme, avatar, and the general overall aesthetic of his tumblr. His handle would be almost hipster!like, something like ‘thelostlenore’ or ‘thepathlesstravelled’ and his avatar changes from something scenic and pretty to pictures of Jeep. He prefers his tumblr themes clean and minimal, good for both pictures and text, something like Hazy by vitaminholland. He purposefully chooses not to title his blog.

I feel like he follows a lot of people. Not only does he like a lot of blogs, follow a lot of tags, and just have a general interest in various areas, but he does do the kind thing of following people who follow him. I do think he has a few fandoms that he would be into and that he would follow tumblrs related to those fandoms, along with some generally aesthetic fandoms (especially academia!aesthetic blogs). He’s also really interested in intellectual things and would follow tumblrs of that nature, such as philosophybits, scienceisdope, etc. He also would follow some positivity focused tumblrs, just because everyone needs a pick-me-up sometimes.

Goku

Goku is the one I can see using tumblr the most after Hakkai. Hakkai has to show him how to work it but he catches on pretty quickly. His handle is songokueats and he mostly posts a lot of pictures of his food or funny pictures he snaps of the others getting into embarrassing moments. He titles his tumblr very simply, just calling it ‘Goku’s tumblr’ and his avatar is either a picture of food or an embarrassing photo of Sanzo or Gojyo until they make him take it down. He’s not really all that picky about his tumblr theme, with his only requisite being that it’s colourful and fun so I can see him using something like colorful space or Bitter Fruit.

Other than Sanzo, Goku follows the least amount of people. He follows the others, of course, but other than that, he mainly just follows a lot of food blogs and just kind of browses tags whenever he gains interest in something. He’d be the one to get really into the tumblr memes though and would overuse them.

He really likes to talk to people and online is no different. I could see him using the dm feature the most out of the four of them.

Gojyo

I think overall, if the world of Saiyuki had social media, Gojyo would prefer dating apps, Instagram, and TikTok and, while he’d have a tumblr, it would be hit or miss if he thinks to check it. It’s not his first choice for apps.

I think he was probably really into it at first and he did put thought into it. He uses a very image-centric theme, something dark and minimalistic but stylish, and the only posts he has up are images, usually selfies and usually of the thirst trap variety. His tumblr handle is l@vvrboi and his blog title is Too Hot to Handle, with his avatar being a selfie, of course.

He does do follow for follow and he does follow a fair amount of blogs, anything smutty or erotic, some cute animal blogs, along with a few advice blogs because he’s got a guilty pleasure for those kinds of things. He’s really susceptible, just saying, to clicking on pornbot links.

1. List 3 shipping tropes you love

Friends/Childhood friends-to-lovers (have you seen my OTP? It's rare that I don't ship the childhood friends getting together)

Opposites attract / The grumpy one x the sunshine one (I'm putting these two tropes together because while I love opposite attract in many forms, the main kind of ship from this trope I love is grumpy one x sunshine one. Again, just look at my OTP. Also, some of the other ships I reblog, like Ichihime, Rivetra, Kyoru)

Forced proximity (this is a trope I've come to enjoy when done in certain ways, like if two characters need to work together to survive peril, or they're forced into an arrangement that neither is necessarily comfortable with, and the two come realise they might feel similarly about their predicament and start to bond and overcome what's been forced upon them)

2. List 3 shipping tropes you don’t love

Love triangles (hate them with a burning passion!!)

Instalove or instalust (I feel it takes all the development and challenges a ship can have...but if you make it that it's instalove but they discover over the course of the story that they actually work better as friends, WELL, things get more interesting!)

Bad boy x good girl (I used to love this when I was younger, but as I've grown up and gone back to some of the media that has this trope, I realised how awful some of the bad boy characters really were when they kept mistreating the good girl. I also noticed how much the narrative of 'she can change him' was being hammered in and not feeling earned when the bad boy decided to turn his life around. I think this trope can be done well if either a) the bad boy is softened to not be as much of a jerk, b) the kind girl isn't portrayed as being naive, sheltered, or someone that people just walk all over, c) if either character screws up, they get held accountable and do the hard work to make things right and change, d) if the bad boy does do something to the kind girl, that he actually apologizes and means it by showing, and e) that the kind girl is not the bad boy's sole reason to change, that he actually takes the right steps to change, like seeking help from others, and doesn't just rely on her to change him; she can be a motivation and a support for him on his journey, but not his therapist as it were).

3. One emotional aspect of a ship that always gets you

It's all about the emotion aspect for me! If I have to pick only one thing, then it's always going to be when a couple has that one emotional stunted or stoic character and they open up to the one person they feel safe to confide in. This person is always there for them, and harbors a care for them that no one or only a few people do. It's because of this and their growing feelings for them that they decide they will go through hell and high water for this person.

Bonus points if this is a slow burn and it takes the stoic character a while to fully open up, and when they do, it's an emotional outpouring (I go absolutely nuts when this happens).

Also extra points if this moments leads to the stoic person opening up to others too.

And give the work a freakin award if the person they confided in confides in them too, showing they've been through hell as well, and the two characters support each other (ABSOLUTE HEART EYES).

4. One physical aspect of a ship that always gets you

5. Multiship or Monoship?

I'm very open to multishipping for most characters. For instance, I ship Orihime with both Ichigo and Uryu (and once upon a time it was Ulquiorra and Grimmjow...I still have a small soft spot for these ships too). However, there are characters where it's purely a monoship, and I'm sure anyone who's been on my blog for five minutes will see Toshiro is someone I can only ever see with one person. If Kubo turned around tomorrow and said Momo was going to end up with Kira [once I got over the devastation] I think I could be open to it, but Toshiro to me only has one person he could end up with and it's only ever going to be Momo for me (hehe mono, Momo, hehe).

6. Rare pairs or Mainstream?

I think there was a time where I fell into rarepair hell, but nowadays, seem to be supporting more mainstream ships. Hitsuhina has that weird distinction of being both, where it seems to be very popular in the Japanese fandom, but not so much in the Western fandom.

7. Polyamory or Monogamy?

Monogamy, but you do you if you like polyamory!

8. If the ship is physical, reversible or not?

No sure what this question means.

9. Do you always have romantic ships for fandoms?

For most of them I do, but there's the occasional fandom where I don't, like Mob Psycho 100. Whenever I ship two people, it's usually because of their chemistry and how they can develop heir own stories or flesh out each other more. This was definitely the case for Renruki, as I saw the potential for these two to have a dynamic relationship that fleshed out both their characters, and that's basically what ended up happening in the Soul Society arc.

10. How important is the sexual part (if any) of your ship?

In most of my ships, I don't really think about the sexual side of things. For instance, I get uncomfortable with Hitsuhina fanworks that have any sexual connotations around it. Don't get me wrong, teens obviously do those things, but I personally just find it uncomfortable for my OTP (the most I can stand is a heated kiss, I feel like such a wuss! ^^; ). Maybe it's because I've always seen them as a sweet, cutesy ship that don't actually start dating until their in young adult years?

Whereas for something like Renruki or Rivetra, I'm more comfortable with considering and seeing in fanworks that aspect of their relationship. In terms of fanfic, I don't go seeking out mature or explicit fics that are 'porn without plot', I always read fics that have a plot or character exploration and just so happen to have sexual content in them.

I don't know, I think it depends on the vibe of the ship and the kind of chemistry they have together. Hitsuhina has a sweet chemistry, whereas something like Rivetra or Renruki has a more mature chemistry.

11. Opinion on platonic ships?

I COULD EASILY FILL A TOP 50 LIST WITH BROTPS! My goodness platonic relationships are awesome and just as important as romantic ships in any and all media. In fact, I wish I had more confidence to write BROTP fics, it's only something I started to delve into when I joined tumblr.

14. Opinion on the importance of marriage?

For shipping, it's not a big deal. I just love seeing the couple happy and content. I must admit though, I have had ideas for weddings and what certain ships' marriages would be like. Of course, I've wondered and even written a fic about Hitsuhina's future marriage, and even drew their wedding day a long time ago. I was happy to see Renji and Rukia get married, it just felt right for them, and an Ichihime marriage is just so cute!

15. Opinion on kids?

Again, not a big deal for me in shipping. I never go out of my way to find fics where a ships children are involved. If they're in canon, like Ichika and Kazui, then I don't mind and even love seeing some of the fanworks creators come up with the family dyamics from Ichihime and Renruki, but for the most part I just stick to canon and don't go out fo my way to find fics or fanart involving potential children from any of my ships.

I sometimes find it difficult to write with characters I don't know well or at all, but it's mostly just that I'm not comfortable with it. I do write with OCs who I obviously know nothing about beforehand, but there needs to be a bio available in order to write with them. I've seen people suggest treating canon muses from fandoms you're not familiar with in the same way, but it just doesn't work the same way for me. It's not that I never will (I have a few times in the past) but I typically won't write with canon muses from things I don't know well.

I'd say roleplaying is the only real writing-based hobby I have, yeah. I've started writing in journals but that's mostly writing down things that happen and keeping track of what I've watched and such. Not much in the way of creative writing, but maybe it still counts.

No, I don't expect answered memes/asks to be turned into threads. Mutuals are welcome to continue them, I try to answer asks in a way that leaves it open for them to, but it's not expected. A lot of times meme responses work just fine as drabbles too. I also don't send memes with the intention of turning them into threads later. Sometimes I will, but I enjoy sending memes and it'd be impossible to make all of them threads.

In canon, my ideal outcome/endgame for Negan would be for him to either earn his place in the communities and live there, or decide to leave and live on his own while keeping some contact with the communities, and finally feel some sort of peace while still living with what he's done. And that's basically what he got by the end of the show, but now they're doing Dead City and it seems like that's all being taken away, so... I guess we'll see what happens.

Glad I got to watch you live-blogging your way through VLR, I enjoyed it a lot. Did you notice the bits of foreshadowing throughout the game leading up to the reveal of Sigma’s face? The way Phi calls Sigma “grandpa” in the first few minutes of the game, Phi being surprised when Sigma says he’s 22 years old, and various characters insulting Sigma’s eyesight, hearing, etc. Not to mention things like the infirmary mirror being too dirty for Sigma to see his reflection and the fact that the game actually straight up shows you Sigma’s gray hair in the security footage of Sigma and Phi being dragged by K, you (and Sigma) just don’t notice it because it’s far away and grainy. I love these small details that make up the game, and there’s similar stuff for 999 and ZTD that I love as well.

In the ZE communities I’ve been in at least over the years, everyone’s favorite game is either 999 or VLR. However, despite its downfalls and controversy within the community, I still think that ZTD is a crucial part of the series, and I don’t think many people would say it’s necessarily a game that should be ignored or not talked about. From what I’ve seen, we appreciate the good parts of it and extensively meme about the weirder or less impressive parts. Plus, once you play ZTD you’ll be free to browse all the fanart and content online without fear of spoilers… stuff like the 999 and VLR Q&A that happened before ZTD’s release is really cool.

And like an anon recommended, AI: The Somnium Files is a brilliant game by the same writer/director of Zero Escape, Uchikoshi Koutarou. I’ve yet to play the sequel, but my impression going through the first game was that it was exactly what I needed to scratch my Zero Escape itch, despite the fact that it’s nothing like Zero Escape. I’d absolutely recommend it as well.

For the forshadowing, I'd noticed a bit, but not as much as I ought to, probably! I'd picked up on the aversion to seeing Sigma's face, (him not being in group far away shots or having his face obscured when pointing to dio), though the mirror thing I totally just wrote off as the devs not having the budget to put that scene in there ahaha. And i was 100% ready to believe that Phi and everyone mocking Sigma's hearing/sight etc was just being mean skdfjsl

If there's anything i can apperciate it's something that's got its good moments to enjoy and its bad moments to meme the hell out of. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 honestly it feels like everything is just becoming mindless consumer crap and you gotta be ahead of the curve otherwise people move on and forget. I found a fic I wrote for the Hannibal fandom in 2013 and the amount of interaction and feedback I got was ASTOUNDING. I miss the days of live journal and kink/fic memes. I get tired for the whole “well you write for yourself” narrative…yes to an extent we do, but would you say that to a published author and never buy/support their works? I really enjoy Don’t Stand so Close to Me and leave feedback on my other blog, which I created solely for creating my content and supporting others.

I don’t think I’ll ever go back to writing for Eddie because I became too discouraged. I remember getting a a few requests for him, filled them and the people didn’t even reblog or comment, just liked it. But I still like to read and support those who create Eddie content.

Honestly there are times where I have a lot of self doubt or just cry when I get very little interaction and see others getting a ton (even when I do ask). It’s very discouraging and makes me feel like a shitty writer. I think one part that bothers me most is seeing other content creators not supporting or reblogging others, but turn around and ask for the same.

Ugh I'm sorry that you became disheartened. Honestly up until Don't Stand So Close To Me most of my other writing on here totally flopped and I was getting to the point where it was becoming frustrating for me too.

I'm really glad I didn't give up because I had this story burning inside me and I wanted to share it so badly. I'm honestly blown away by its reception. I hope that people understand that getting this amount of feedback each week is completely unheard of for me and means so much.

I actually just made that post private because I got nervous all of a sudden that it would come off the wrong way and that people would hate me for it for some reason and see me as ungrateful, which couldn't be farther from the truth.

I was moreso trying to explain why I still ask for engagement, and why it's important to everyone because some people just don't know or understand that. 🙈
