heads up 7 up (x2)
Cheating again aha. Tagged by @reneesbooks and @j-1173! Have this bit from earlier in Witch's Book. There's kind of a lot of blood because bloodmagic so cw for that?
A tiny, black shape, speeding through the air, quick as a whip and plunging towards the platform – the shape stretches and grows and changes, and it’s almost like the world around it warps, reality shrinking and expanding all in the space of a second. Crys blinks and there is no longer a tiny black bat darting above the heads of the crowd, but instead a man in a brown cloak standing amidst two Beast prisoners and a dozen AMA soldiers. Creed whirls and the flash of shock across his face is not hidden nearly quickly enough, but he reacts, draws his sword and swings it –
The man raises his arm and the sword cuts right into it, but not through despite the force – and then, with a grimace, he wrenches his arm free.
There is no spurt, no spray, no messy burst of red. In fact, for a moment, there is nothing at all, just a pause.
And then.
Blood gushes from the wound straight into the air and holds there, more blood than should be possible – flowing coils, spiraling and twisting and taking shape, like a living, breathing, thing. Slow, almost lazy, hypnotic in the way it spins and curls around itself. The crowd quietens from a roar to a murmur and watches, and the courtyard is unnaturally still.
It hardens and sharpens and fractures off, and Sigma leaps back up onto the platform just in time to cut down the hail of crimson bolts.
The man’s eyes are a bright, luminous red, even in the darkness and the torchlight and the smoke, even from this distance. The blood flowing from his arm curves and flattens, ends sharpening into a wicked point, like a blade. Like a scythe.
Someone screams, “Vampire!”, and the crowd moves.
Tagging @sapphos-scientist, @lorenfinch, @arctic-oceans (for a regular heads up 7 up not a double). No pressure as always, and open tag for anyone who wants to join in!
