I'm kinda mad at her, don't get me wrong, but Mimic tricked her! Heck, we the audience, know who Duo is, but the characters in universe don't have any idea, why? Because they don't have evidence, so of course Lano will think Duo is a normal cat, not a killer octopus.

I think the biggest issue about the whole reclaiming slurs thing is that people forget the difference between saying, for instance, “I’m a faggot” vs “YOURE a faggot”. In the first one you’re reclaiming it because you’re adopting it into your identity and using it in a new and personalized way. The second, you’re just…. Using it as a slur. That’s why folk rightfully get upset when you call them whatever slur without asking them first (obviously I mean amongst friends). You’ve no idea their relationship with that word, and because it Is still a slur, it is still going to be hurtful and shocking to some people if you call them a faggot or what have you, no matter how jokingly you meant it

SCAR'S FAMILY,

Unknowingly is the reason why Scar's village got attacked - indirectly leading him to becoming who he is today. Much of Scar's character/appearance ironically enough aligns with his absent father's, but his humanity and desire for freeing the world and saving humanity comes from being raised under his mom's love.
