Apparently some Ace Attorney fans don’t like this Plot Beat in the PLVSAA game? Like, they feel that it disrespects Phoenix or puts in on a lower rung of importance compared to Layton? But I really disagree, I have some other issues with PLVSAA, but this moment? That’s a perfect Phoenix Wright moment that shows a real understanding of his character and his appeal.
Because Phoenix Wright always shoves his nose right into the center of stories where he was not supposed to be in. That’s what he’s been doing since the beginning.
Just look at the plot of the very first game! It’s all about Manfred von Karma and his Big Ass Weirdo Grudge against the whole Edgeworth family all two of them. In many ways, even if the AA narrative doesn’t typically use that framing - Manfred is kind of a Storyteller in a way, creating the Story of Miles Edgeworth’s tragedy and patricide.
And in that ‘Story’, Phoenix was a minor character at best. He was just an ordinary kid who knew Miles for a few months in fourth grade, He’s not tied in with the Family Drama, he doesn't have any obvious special talents or anything. From any outsider's perspective on Miles' whole life, there's no reason to think his 4th Grade Best Friend would by in any way Important for anything but Tragic Flasbacks. But Phoenix put himself into that narrative. For him, Miles’ kindness and friendship for these few months of childhood are just as important as anything in Manfred’s Story.
He got himself into law and shoved himself right into Miles Edgeworth’s story despite how ridiculous it all is. And so, even as Manfred disregarded him as just yet another unimportant interchangeable Defense Attorney to be crashed under his heel - didn’t even remember his name and face- Phoenix was still the one to defeat him. Even as Manfred left the courtroom still cursing Edgeworth’s name - Phoenix has made himself, by choice, into the Hero of that Story.
Miles and Maya would be Main Characters in anything related to the DL-6 mess whatever they’d like to or not, it’s just tied-up so heavily into their life and their traumas. Phoenix is the one who chose to be a Main Character in that Story.
And that’s something that kind of repeats with a lot of the narratives Phoenix gets into. Because he’s, like, the one AA character without a Dramatic Backstory outside of the Class Trial, Phoenix is usually either playing backup to the real main characters of the narrative - or once again, making himself the Main Character out of sheer determination and love and desire to help others and choice.
And doing it again in PLvsPW, establishing that he and Maya butted into both the Storyteller and Darklaw’d Stories just because they were both driven and curious and kind and wanted to help Espella so bad… that’s just perfect, especially for a story all about Stories that’s just perfect.
The thing that I keep thinking about is the few times AA has Stories that are definitively about Phoenix without him butting in or stumbling into someone else’s Story. ‘Justice for All’ is one, but it doesn’t really have a Grand Overarching Narrative. It’s more of a Phoenix Wright Character Study via a series of vignettes. The AA game that really has Phoenix at the center of a Story is ‘Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney’.
To continue the PLvsPW metaphor, AJAA is really the game between a bunch of rival Storytellers - PLvsPW had Arthur Vs. Evelyn, AJAA has Kristoph Vs Phoenix. Kristoph weaved a Story with Phoenix’s downfall at its center - and Phoenix waited until he had the chance to return the favor. I mean, I dunno, maybe my metaphor is a touch stretched but… Hobonick really is the closest thing to the Storyteller in the mainline AA games. The final AJAA case is almost literally him ‘designing’ a trial for his own purposes.
And the interesting thing is how controlling and railroading he is as a Storyteller figure. For someone who’s based his own entire damn life on defying the Stories and plans of others, he really does not let his own ‘Main Characters’ - least of all Apollo - that same sort of metanarrative agency.

Hi! I see a lot of screenshots and such from your blog for things like (I believe) Kamen Rider(?) I might be wrong please forgive me if so. I have always had a sort of vague interest in sentai media but never knew good hopping on points, do you have any personal recommendations for where an absolute beginner might jump in to watch shows like that?
if you're interested in tokusatsu, you can really start anywhere that looks cool or interesting to you! most seasons, aside from some anniversaries and the very rare sequel show, are pretty self-contained for the most part. diehard fans will make a big deal out of "good and bad starting points" but the truth is every show has been someone's first and hooked them on the genre, even the "bad" seasons (the poor quality of which is often exaggerated by fandom anyway) or the experimental entries not indicative of the wider franchise they're part of
but! if you want some real beginner friendly, you'll-probably-have-fun-with-this toku, my go-to recs for The Big Three™:
if you want to follow a team of heroes grow together as they fight evil in increasingly silly scenarios, super sentai's probably the series for you (and my favorite ^_^)
watch kiramager if you want a straightforward throwback to classic sentai. it's a back-to-basics season that gives you a good baseline of what sentai as a whole can be, while elevated enough by its stellar cast and infectious energy so as to never feel generic
shinkenger takes a more dramatic approach to the usual sentai formula, following a team of samurai recruited to serve under a lord who isn't telling them everything he knows. an incredibly stylish show that's almost sure to leave an impression
kamen rider began as a tragic hero, kidnapped by the villainous organization shocker and turned into a cyborg against his will, ultimately escaping and using his newfound abilities to put an end to their evil. since the original story, kamen rider has gone through a whole host of various different tones and storylines, arguably becoming the most versatile of the big franchises, though certain elements remain consistent like the near ever-present bug motif or our heroes using powers derived from evil for the sake of good
created in the wake of the 2011 tohoku earthquake disaster, kamen rider fourze was made with the goal to make children smile again, and that desire led to something really special. arguably The Power of Friendship™ show to end all others, and while its upbeat tone might not exactly be in line with Classic Kamen Rider™, it stands as a great entry point thanks to the passion behind it and its clear love for the genre
probably best experienced as blind as possible, kamen rider build is a rollercoaster of a series full of high stakes, mystery, intrigue, and Heated Drama Between Men™. if you want something more serialized that'll keep you on the edge of your seat throughout, build's one of the very best
i also wanna mention kamen rider gotchard, the currently airing series! we're only 8 episodes in at the time of this post, so you could catch up quick while still going through the backlog. very much a back-to-basics season, introducing pokemon-style creatures for our protagonists to catch in addition to the usual superheroics. it's been pretty cute so far :)
ultraman is a sci-fi series that typically follows a defense team created to defend the earth from aliens and kaiju, aided by the giant of light, ultraman. as opposed to the other two franchises where there's often a serial plot to follow and a centralized villain faction, ultra typically thrives with telling standalone sci-fi stories, usually aligning with a show's overarching theme and often compared to shows like star trek or the twilight zone, though recent seasons have been more willing to switch up the format
ultraman x is for anyone who's ever asked, "but... what if we could be friends with godzilla?" young XiO scientist daichi becomes bonded with the alien ultraman x and work together to protect the earth and fight for a future where humans, aliens, and kaiju can coexist. to me this is like, the platonic ideal of what ultraman is, and a perfect starting point because of it. also features several crossover episodes with past ultra seasons throughout the show, but it's all still very new-viewer friendly and could even entice you to check out some of those shows yourself!
ultraman orb, the 50th anniversary of the series, changes course by making the defense team a background component in favor of following amateur investigators and the mysterious, lone wanderer who's suddenly entered their lives (hint: he's ultraman). another iconic entry in the Heated Drama Between Men Cinematic Universe and a nice balance between ultra's classic status quo and a more modern ongoing narrative
i'd also be remiss not to mention the currently airing ultraman blazar, which i unfortunately have not been able to keep up with due to outside circumstances but have heard NOTHING but glowing praise for. it's simulcast on youtube every week with english subtitles AND an optional english dub!
pretty much all of these can be snagged over at nyaa(.)si, and x and orb can be watched legally over on tubitv(.)com!
#if you have any more questions feel free to ask!#anonymous#asks#kendrix morgan died for our sins#super sentai for ts#kamen rider for ts#ultraman for ts

My concept of Dandy rebranding Gardenview to a new glory after the neglect of handlers, going back to their roots, and creating a toon with the use of research capsules.
[Mixed with your own theory of them, Dandy has a seemingly noble goal, they are just a bit evil and cause torment to the twisted and toons about it for their own satisfaction. The entitlement and audacity of a petal thinking they deserve to keep all the tapes of their history/training/making toons safety/learning videos/mlp/PSAs... you know the usual tapes you'd want to keep.] Now your theory was added, making Dandy seem more complex and interesting. Still mostly evil, BUT WHAT IF I MADE IT WORSE!!!
{A bit inspired by Sun and Moon Show <333}
... He was unable to figure out how to make an original toon, so tragic fan-child it is! Midnight Tragedy's Child (Astro x Dazzle) are they actually dating, or not. Who knows! They might not be, and that just makes it more funner(not in shipping, in the psychological torment sense <3 )
Dandy would totally family vlog, and Truman show the entire facility!!! They will compete at one point for the kid to do what challenges, and its Dandy vlogs vs Glistens lol.
I am planning on hopefully finishing chapter 1 today <3 wish I had written dopamine. I need it for my adding brain :D
Fun fact, the ideal design for the fan-child to have two-star shape'd eyes on the right of their face, was because the hands that Tron Astro uses are in his head, under his hat probably but in his brain basically.
So at will fan-child can move their eyes around to see into people's dreams or memories or to see if they are lying, who knows, dazzle hates it when Razzles acts.
what are your thoughts on it, I can't wait to figure out Glistens relationships with rnd, vee, and Astro specifically hehe. There are rnd headcanons that they look up to glisten, and glisten get along with vee. (karaoke, or has funner lines in trivia for the viewer to keep watching than winning all the prizes)
I love canon compliments, but I adore alterations if headcanons are not canon compliments. <3
oh yeah, and some doodles I did on a whiteboard. here are some of the concept chapters:
I'm too shy to show the last doodle with Astro and Rnd meeting up with Dandy, to figure out what their 'vacation' truly meant when they see the new toon on the bench(theirs another doodle of that on paper) I'm having so much fun with writing this, and I'm almost wondering how Dandy might become a manager. Can they ever get IDs?
:P
... Since they got research from the twisted themselves... whose child is it really [Family drama]
Hope you like my chaotic concept, i have no ideas for the other characters, but I just gave Poppy an HC that they are not allowed to drink pop because of a commercial aftermath incident :D
Astro giving others nightmares by accident will always be funny <3
Have a wonderful day! I didn't have this beta read, so my words may not make sense hehe
OOOO Thank you so much for sharing this with me!!
Between Dandy mixing Astro + RND’s (research? ichor? Toon dna) to make a toon from scratch, said child’s ability and the surrounding drama in the form of family vlog and Truman show’d facility, I’d say you’re in for a pretty solid story!
I’m really curious about Glisten’s relationships with other toons, I haven’t been able to look at the new update yet lol. I know that fella has all the deets.
Midnight tragedy is super cute, I love their design! I wonder, since it’s ambiguous who their parents actually are, if they’d chosen a parent figure? Unless Dandy filled that role by default, or maybe it was a “it takes a village to raise a child” situation? Or did they spawn fully grown and only needed some guidance to mature emotionally.. don’t let my questions point to spoilers for your fic, I’m just wondering aloud!
10/10 concepts and art, I will be watching for that fic when it’s posted! You have a nice day too :D!

The 40 - The World of 2138 (Epilogue)
----
@the-ravenclaw-werewolf, @purplemochi20055, @hulkchloron99, @lucario765g, and @maximum18
----
Inspired by the ending scene of the animated adaptation of DC's Flashpoint.
----
After much interaction with Post-Overlord series' Ainz, with plenty of drama given Ainz's undead nature after the transmigration, one of The 40 handed him a holodisk containing the message of all 40 Players of the original Guild of Ainz Ooal Gown.
Seeing each former Guildmember creating their own heartfelt messages for the Momonga, he used the "race swap" band that The 40 created that allowed him to switch between his Undead Lich Overlord form and original human form.
Satoru saw each of his former Guildmembers' true identities and sat through a long hearing of what their message was for him.
Note: The 40 original Players of Ainz Ooal Gown react to the Overlord series to the end (but for us, we only have two volumes to go before the series ends).
On one hand, many of them are glad that he's alive and working on a noble goal to create a prosperous utopia for all races of the New World. On the other hand, many voice their disgust at the atrocities he knowingly did, and the ones that resulted from his decisions if he hadn't dug much deeper (i.e. Arche and Foresight, and Arche's younger twin sisters), never mind the knowledge of Demiurge and his little happy farm (A/N: I can't help but to think that Ulbert, Demiurge's creator, wouldn't tolerate the things that his creation had done behind Momonga's back unless if it's towards the completely unrepently evil people, even when taking into Ulbert's tragic backstory of being stuck in poverty forever and gaining a really bad misanthrope view of the world).
Yet, in the end, they still cared for Satoru, acknowledged the nuances of his actions due to his emotions being suppressed by his new Lich body and not wanting to alienate any of the Nazarick NPCs, and wished him luck in the New World. They also let Satoru know that things back in the World of 2138 are going fine thanks to The 40's assistance in reversing the polluted planet and commencing a grand evolution against the conglomerates that controlled their world.
By the end of the message, Satoru was filled with tears. But continues to compose himself after his experience as the leader of Ainz Ooal Gown for so many years.
Satoru thanked the 40 for this gift with the utmost sincerity, with the latter group then heading back to the other dimension as the challenge to live in World of 2138 for two decades has been completed.

Alice,
I've loved being able to read Sweary She-Ra through the years. I happened upon it only a few months after finishing She-Ra (I was late to the party due to not having Netflix, oops), and it gave me so much wonderful content to keep my excitement for the series alive.
The way you explored the characters, especially Catra's mental health and her relationship with Shadow Weaver, helped give me a new understanding and greater appreciation of them. I bring up Catra specifically because, I'll be honest, I wasn't a big Catra fan for awhile. I liked her well enough, then kinda didn't in season 4, but grew fond of her again around season 5. But you helped me understand her thought-process, and I came to like her more because of it. I really like that you also handled her in a nuanced way, where, as you've said many times, you explained her behavior without excusing it, and that made all the difference.
One of the things I really appreciated about your take on She-Ra was how apparent your intelligence was, as well as your writing skill. It wasn't just "Catra says fuck and Glimmer has killed dozens," even though it could have been--you went the extra mile (or kilometer, since you're British :P) and gave us a variety of jokes, as well as mood shifts from comedic to tragic to dramatic to hopeful. All of the characters felt like themselves, even though they were pushed up to 11 and had some creative liberties taken, such as Frosta being a demon and Hordak's Geordie accent. You had a good handle on all of them, which can be very hard to do with a large cast, especially one written by another writer.
I also really appreciated that you took the time to answer asks and build a community here. It gave us lovely jokes such as Bob (that's right, I haven't forgotten about him), Catra's age, and Entrapta reading our comments. I've always been very shy online, but seeing you having such nice interactions with fans helped me open up, and I'm glad I did! I used to ask anonymously from time to time (yes, my first ask was about DT, all the way back during your start on season one, what else would it be? XD), and I'm glad I've gotten to chat and joke with you, as have the rest of us.
I'm so glad that you stuck with this and created such a wonderful fan-series. We never got a movie, but this was just as good, in my opinion. It was like watching SPOP for the first time all over again. I'm excited to see what you create next, be it SPOP-related or not. I hope the future has great things in store for you.
You brought us laughs, tears, and spectacular Glimmer-swears, and your blog means so much to so many people. You mean so much to so many people. I hope you find success in your future endeavors!
FOR THE HONOR OF GAYSKULL!
What can I say, it's truly been an honour (of Gayskull) to write something that I had no idea brought so much to many people. I'm genuinely quite humbled by the reaction.
I always wanted to be fair to all the characters, to show their reasons without necessarily validating the invalid stuff that they've done, and that particularly came across with Catra. It's no secret that I see a lot of parallels between her and my own history, but I've applied the same take-no-shit but be kind approach that I took with myself over the years. And I've learned a lot about mental health during that time, so I could give that sometimes painful realism, but also know just how to make fun of it in the right way.
In some ways, I feel like the characters I've written have taken on their own personality that's very distinct from the original, and that's probably why I think there's a little more mileage in them yet. Both in terms of original stuff (my pilot script Snowflakes has almost 1:1 versions of DT and Perfuma!), but also in the possibility for creating more Sweary stuff, and that is slowly taking shape - although I am taking it easy for a bit, I've already outlined a story which I'd love to make into an audio drama. Currently workshopping it with a couple of people, so watch this space...
It has been a joy to get so many asks from people, yourself included, and my inbox will always be open. I'm not going anywhere for a while! You were very much my DT-asker-in-chief, and I'm super glad you enjoyed their scenes (heck, you even got them a cameo at the end!). So thank you immensely for the support.
I'm happy I've been able to contribute to a wonderful fandom in such a way, and I'm eager to keep on giving back to a community that has given me so many amazing friends.
FOR THE HONOR OF GAYSKULL!

Austen Asks But For Gaskell: 6, 8, 24, 28
6. Favorite movie adaptation
There's fewer of these, so it's easier to pick :D definitely Wives and Daughters (1999). Best screenplay Andy wrote (that I have seen), pretty much Davies-ism free? Ending and a couple other bits aside, it's faithful? And I really like the cast, for the most part?. Some of it I'd even call inspired. Justine Wadell gives Molly that balance between her tendency to cry and her father's temperament and wit. One feels like Michael Gambon was born to play Squire Hamley's type. Bill Paterson is not as handsome as the character is supposed to be, but he does nail the rest. I do like Francesca Annis, though ever since I knew the 1983 radio drama had cast Angela Pleasance, she cannot be perfect XD It's a pity that Anthony Howell is so handsome, because he did well as Roger, and while I'm usually not impressed by Keeley Hawes, I think she did Cynthia well too. But I'm obsessed with Tom Hollander as Osborne. He sells it. He plays this extremely dramatic and romantic fated young man so so well. He honestly deserves more praise than he gets.
And there's of course the fabulous hair and lovely costumes too (blu ray release when BBC)
8. Least favorite couple
This is where I'd put a joke one like Lady Glenmire and the butcher from Cranford, but while I haven't finished Mary Barton, I do get the feeling I wouldn't feel deeply about that one in the end (considering Gaskell herself thought John Barton was the main tragic hero of her story, that kind of checks out).
24. Favorite supporting character
I think lord Cumnor from Wives and Daughters is underrated. He's a riot every single time he shows up, 10/10 would love to spend time with that man. There's side characters like Lady Harriet or Nicholas Higgins that have such depth and such flavor that it feels unfair not to pick them first, but... the heart wants what the heart wants I suppose XD
28. Favorite character backstory or secret
Mr Gibson's mysterious past is a sort of small running joke through Wives and Daughters, but "poor Jeanie" is such a master stroke? Mr Gibson is funny, and he loves Molly, and he grows to love Cynthia, which isn't an easy person to love. He's a good doctor too. But all the while there's a certain uncomfortable something running at the back of his personality. His jealousy of Molly is driven by the ghost of "poor Jeanie", who clearly was a victim of his passions to some degree or other (and the fact that it is never made clear what such degree is is a truly fascinating choice), and of whom we get the uncomfortable sensation that full reparations were not made to. His choice of wife in Mrs Kirkpatrick has an undercurrent of the same brand of moral failure, even if, of course, tempered by time, age, and circumstance. It's such a small thing in the scheme of the story, but it creates a distance between the reader and the character that resembles in a way the distance between him and Molly, as much as they love and understand each other.
From this ask game.

I don’t know if someone’s already replied because I just saw it now but this is why people are attacking Joe:
Joe and Sophie got together in 2016, when she was 20 and he was 27. After a year of dating, they got engaged. Then, in 2019 Sophie had a big year because both the last season of Game Of Thrones and Dark Phoenix were coming out. That also came with a lot of hate, because both of those were bad but also because Daenerys stans decided to hate on Sophie because they disliked Sansa. They also created fake drama between Emília and Sophie, so she got a lot of hate. Sophie also got a lot of hate from Priyanka stans who kept comparing them.
Through all of this, Sophie mentioned having mental health issues and deleted her twitter account. She also mentioned deleting the Instagram app from her phone.
In 2019, they got married and in early 2020 there were rumors of her being pregnant. The pandemic happened and they had a child. In 2021, she did The Staircase, and then she took another break to have baby number 2. She’s now back to work on a TV show called Joan.
If I remember correctly Joe has been working and touring through a lot of this. So it seems like she had a hard time with her new found fame (she had been famous for years but she became a lot more well known in 2019) and decided to take a step back and start a family with him.
I think it’s worth mentioning that she has said that her family and friends are all in the UK and she was trying to convince Joe to move back there. This year she has been spending a lot of time in the UK, even before she started filming, so I think it’s possible she really wants to move back there.
It all seems a bit tragic to me. She has struggled with depression and an ED throughout her whole life because of GOT, and she’s spent all her 20s dating a man almost 10 years older than her, taking a step back to have his children while he kept working, living far away from her family and friends, etc. and now, when she goes back to the UK and gets back to work, his team (it had to come from there) acts like she abandoned her children and like Joe deserves a gold medal for being a father.
I’m not saying their relationship was toxic, but I do think it maybe wasn’t the healthiest for her. She’s also talked about Joe helping her with her mental health struggles, but maybe that led to some dependency that wasn’t great. Specially since he apparently broke up with her right before they got married because of her mental health. I had misunderstood that interview and I thought she was saying they had broken up for 24 hours right at the beginning of their relationship, but apparently it was right before the wedding in Las Vegas.
All in all, I think Joe shouldn’t have gotten with someone as young as her. I usually don’t mind age differences when both people are in their 20s, but I do think she was probably too young. I think he tried to help with her mental health but I don’t think it was the healthiest. I think she has given up more for him than he has for her. It’s sad that they tried to make her look bad with the divorce news.
I also fully believe the news, but I also believe they could work it out and then fans will pretend it was all fake. But I do believe they’re on the brink of divorce but still willing to work it out if possible. That’s why neither were wearing their rings but now Joe is wearing it again. I think they’re still trying to make it work but they’re also speaking to lawyers.
If they do get a divorce custody will probably get messy, since she’ll probably want to take the kids to the UK and he won’t
Sorry for all of that! I don’t know if it makes any sense!
Wow, I had no idea all of that went on between them and I actually also had no idea of their age difference, that’s a little 😬 especially when combined with her mental health issues. Definitely seems like there was an imbalance of power there (if true, just my opinion)
But it looks like Joe just filed for divorce and I agree with you, I think custody will get messy because every article / report / detail we have seen so far about this break up seems to be coming from his camp and trying to make him look good (agree with you on that completely, as if watching your own kids makes you father of the year 🙄) so he is already on the offense. I just hope their kids don’t suffer as a result of all this but unfortunately, we see how this stuff goes
Thanks for all the info, anon 💗

Hedric (Harry Potter x Cedric Diggory) from Harry Potter
I’m unsure as for Potterheads’s first same gender ship their self but this already was/is my first fave slash, almost canon, OTP and tragic love story before and after how many ships I’ve got that has some similarity just like this tragically ship itself.
Harry’s terrible timing but unfortunately founds Cedric as his soulmate while they don’t know how it’ll turned out, this ship definitely gives me “I personal don’t care if it’s either canon, almost canon or non canon because I’m allowed view those two fiction characters together all because they deserve better” vibes and how much it foreshadows for me being a sucker for tragic love story ships and how different it could’ve turned out instead actual canon ending itself. Otherwise, I really honestly don’t care much when some most fans mention or comment their preference for notice canon or popular non canon ships because it’s still neutrally fine by me from their own liking; I’m mainly focus finding ships that’s either tried to understand/enjoy paring itself except it’s not for me or made for me afar reacting each parings instead sink into toxicity level.
Speaking of toxicity fan/shipper from this fandom: don’t let Drarry Vs Dramione and Snily Vs Jily or other red flag solution drag you down no matter how afar worst it still goes; it’s better to find rare positive fans while you shall keep them as new friends and avoiding drama as possible. Even myself as a non toxic shipper of two ships, Drarry and Snily, I still don’t comment Severus’s ‘better’ than James unlike how some most Team Snape does because he’s not while myself over here still loves viewing Harry and likable Draco together as a realistic LGBT couple instead love and hate relationship.
Besides how afar this post’s involve, reasons why Hedric’s involve because nothing still can’t change how much I despite her-name-shall-not-be-name from all the damage she cause between Harry and Cedric were almost endgame their self and how many fans she hurt before and after her transphobic comment came along. Some Potterheads mentioned their childhood’s ruined because of her transphobic comment, well.. according as for mine, already’s half ruined because disturbances why Harry and Cedric never got together instead transphobic, homophobic and racism ‘Queen’’s comment. Am I forevermore bitter towards Jo*nne all for preventing Cedric and Harry becoming boyfriends?
Yes, but, Potterheads can’t separate HP book series from her cause she’s still a creator of World Of Harry Potter and all characters she has created. She can make entire excuses all she wants to especially dodging Hedric and other Potterheads’s fave ships, at least HP fandom their self can still make this fandom a better place for all fans while it’s half of something she couldn’t do along doesn’t has to be either mentioned or involve. Yet, Radcliffe and Watson aren’t suppose to respond her transphobic tweet but they did and make Potterheads relief and better instead no longer continuing support her-name-shall-not-be-named.
My apologies this went unfortunately longer between rant and discuss all in one post about her and Hedric, it’s part of reasons why I make this another HP post. If there’s another ship that’s been accurately ruined for you by R*wl*ng after take your time reading this, take care and feel free to leave a comment anytime if I shall make another post.
Almost ending of 2022, let’s hope 2023 could’ve been a better year for all of us
#two lovely fan arts I thought afar involving in this post ✨😊❤️💛🌈🏳️🌈#Cedric and Harry could’ve been an adorable couple if only Cedric wasn’t killed off#sorry for this#long rant#carry on rn#harry potter x cedric diggory#cedric diggory x harry potter#cedric x harry#harry x cedric#hedric#harric#cedric diggory#harry potter#harry potter/hp confession#hp fandom#harry potter fandom

The Rokesby books, the Smythe-Smith Quartet and the two short story books from the Bridgerton-verse were right there to be adapted but they wanted to do Queen Charlotte. Why? Don't know.
I was happy to just have a Kanthony honeymoon special. It didn't have to be six episodes. Just a two hour one would have been fine.
I would pay for a Kanthony honeymoon special!! And so would the rest of the fandom.
I get it, Queen Charlotte is Shonda's pet project and it's not like Bridgerton viewers did not want to see the backstory of what happened between her and King George, because we do, Queen Charlotte is an intriguing character in and on her own.
But at the same time it feels disrespectful to fans, who were waiting for the announcement of who is playing Sophie, or even a glimpse of the Polin season, only to get a lot of Queen Charlotte 'a Bridgerton story' promo material instead. Did we even get this amount of promo for Saphne or for Kantony??. last time I checked fans were given the Kanthony moving portraint AFTER s2 was released. Again, I assure you, I'm going to watch the QC spinoff, because in general I like period dramas and I think any colaboration with Julia Quinn probably has good writing (trust me, if it's as bad as Reign, you will hear my one sentence review of 'its as bad as Reign' but we all know it wont be).
Still, I'm allowed to point out this marketing strategy feels like a lot like gaslighting and taking advantage of the Bridgerton audience to push a spinoff that a lot of viewers wouldn't have felt interest in, if it didn't have 'A Bridgerton story' tacked on to it as a slogan. (Since a lot of people who don't like period dramas do watch Bridgerton, including my 40yo uncle and my grandma)
And maybe it's just me, because I've been listening to too much "slow burn" by Jmaya. But what is up with Hollywood romanticizing tragedy in love stories. It's a bit harder to watch a love story in any period drama where you know that one of them is going to either die or end up with Alzheimers. (yes I'm talking about Reign again, we all knew Mary was going to outlive Francis and we still fell for it anyway)
Which is, why I think Julia never wrote a full book for Violet and Edmund as part of the Rokesby series. Edmund dies, no amount of romance and epic storytelling will erase the enormous letdown that is knowing he dies and she has to move on with their 8 kids. But in the Bridgerton universe, Edmund and Violet's tragic love story has a purpose! It serves to give the 8 siblings something to hope for, an example of love to emulate, it's also the root of their insecurities and fears. With Queen Charlotte even that kind of payoff would not really be much of a consolation. (Yes she does get the guy and the crown, but if my history lessons don't fail me, her eldest son was..well, George IV.)
Which is why I do hope we get to see young Edmund and his older sisters Billie, Poppy and Georgiana. the whole 'going back where it all began' is the slogan for the Rokesby series anyway. It's kinda weird that Queen Charlotte is getting the tagline.
As a show it does look good, there is a certain snazzy romantic vibe to the trailer that I love, also Michelle Fairley is on it!. And we all know that any show where Michelle plays a disproving matriarch obsessed with upholding tradition, is going to be attention worthy. I am sure that once I watch it I will have lots of positive things to say about it.
But I would be able to enjoy Queen Charlotte as a stand alone so much more, if I didn't know Shonda and Netflix was purposefully starving the fans for Bridgerton content in order to create more interest in the spinoff. Like a cheap trick in a magic show, it makes the whole thing a lot less dreamy.
And that's the tea

Only a tool (and only a thief)
Although, I covered every problem with Ashi as a character (mostly here), I want to analyze from the point I usually don't take into account. Ashi was based on Genndy's girlfriend from his childhood dreams, so in the way how she is introduced and presented, Ashi is literally a Mary Sue. She becomes the protagonist of 5 season, she is the only character who changes in 5 season (or, at least, changes the side of the conflict she knows nothing about and blindly believes to mother and then to Jack), she gets superpowers literally from nowhere and without any knowledge fights the very powerful and experienced opponent, and she is the one, who resolves and ends the long conflict between Jack and Aku, genociding all habitants of the future.
From another side, ironically, at the same time Ashi is not a character with personality, she is a plot device, a function, a tool, who breaks the canon and leads to the events the author wants. She is shoe-horned into the events, which make it impossible for her character to appear in the story 5 season chose and in the circumstances she would never handle. The similar problem happens with Mira from 2 season of Primal, but from different angle (here is more details about problems of 2 season). Well, before 10 episode Mira was an independent character with personality, a completely full-fledged character with her own story, the equal member in Spear's and Fang's team.
However, in 2 season 10 episode in the disgusting necrophilia scene Mira lost her own self and independence and was turned into a plot function to focus, emphasize and enhance the forced drama of another character — in this case, Spear (i.e. she became an appendage).
In Ashi's case, from the beginning she exists only for sending Jack back in time and for making the sad ending (or happy ending in the game). Simply saying, she is not an independent character, not an autonomous person, not a character with her own story and arc. She exists only for resolving the problem of the two other characters and as an appendage to enhance the drama of another character (Jack in this case), 'cause Genndy's intention was to focus on Jack's bittersweet or happy end of path, i.e. forced drama (how he once said in interview "We are going to make\force Jack to fall in love"; or how in interview about the game his crew compared Ashi with some guiding light for Jack).
And realizing this, I remembered all those fans' sketches-ideas about "The antagonist has a blood/adopted daughter he loves, but she runs away and falls in love with his enemy, and her tragic death stops years of enmity between them" — and they have exactly the same problem, because the new character was again created only as empty function solely for the sake of enhancing the drama of other characters and solving their conflict. A character, who did not originally exist, should not have existed, and who would not have existed due to the circumstances of the story, setting and characters of the characters.
But now let's talk about the "thief" thing. I don't know, whether it was done intentionally or accidentally, but it really seems that Ashi was created as a mockery toward fans, who wanted the story about how Jack and Aku become allies against some greater deadly force, and how the demon finds other sides (noble sides) of his personality and becomes more a trickster antihero, rather than pure hero or pure bad guy. Because if to watch the scene from 9 episode from this perspective, you can notice that Aku basically acts toward Ashi in pretty similar way how Jack's father acted toward him, when Aku only was born. Like, Emperor wanted to "destroy the evil", but instead he accidentally gave the life to Aku and then rejected him, telling about his intentions to kill the demon and then attacking him, when Aku just said "Thank you!" and wasn't aggressive (and here I already pointed out, that Jack's father is not worthy).
And now Aku meets the young girl, infected by his blood without his knowing, and kinda considers her as his unplanned creation(?) and then uses as a puppet, mocking on her and Jack and trapping her inside of the black mass. From this perspective Ashi is a "human/female and kind" version of Aku, who replaced him and stole Aku's and Jack's backstories and arcs.
For real, Tartakovsky took experienced and fierce demon with great potential for character development and exploring tragic aspects of his personality… and replaced with young human girl, whose backstory is a mix (I'd say, ripoff) of backstories of both Jack and Aku. What a crime.

The Wildwood Chronicles
I've talked about this for what seems like to me, to death about this so I want to close the book on this and finally sum it all up because I finally have everything to say it about it in just one place.
It's now a full-on passion project that I really want to do, create and make a reality and that's The Wildwood Chronicles, an epic and ambitious adult-animated series that is a grand crossover between over hundreds — and I mean HUNDREDS — of media (movies, TV shows, anime, comics, video games) that retroactively establishes them all in the same shared universe all along.
Here is all the information, all of the notes/trivia/details, everything that I can tell anyone on this without spoiling anything about it because I'm keeping this shit under lock and key pretty much:
youtube
• The ambition with this project is anything but small. How I'd best describe it is a mix of Avengers: Infinity War (the last great MCU movie with only two exceptions afterwards) and Inglourious Basterds (Quentin Tarantino's greatest achievement since 1994) with the influences being not just those two but also Godzilla Minus One, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Gore Verbinski's Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy and the original Die Hard for many aspects of the series whether it'd the size, scope, scale, balance of characters, action, emotional moments etc.
• As for who's the lead and who'll voice him, the answer is Reese Miller both voiced by and modeled directly after Walton Goggins. When he's introduced, he's a down-on-his-luck, alcoholic, cynical, sarcastic and narcissistic schmuck with a criminal past who after an incident that caused his downfall had no choice but to crawl back to his family that he abandoned years ago and now has to deal with his ex-wife wanting him to do just one good thing in his life now and that's be there for his children. Only thing is it's on a certain day where his daughter is his that the main event that kickstarts everything happens and he's left in and later wakes from a months-long coma while his daughter, for a while, has an unknown fate. It's from then on that he becomes a man who is consumed with guilt and regret and is haunted by his past actions and the dirtbag he was with him wanting to and even becoming a better person in this world that's now falling apart. Unfortunately, all of the events that he's put through ultimately turn him into a tragic anti-hero who wants to see this world burn to the fucking ground and without giving any spoilers away, deals the final blow that seals this fictional universe's fate. Or does it? I seriously can't imagine anyone else in this role but Walton and Walton only.
• As for how it will be a crossover, not only will it be a sequel years later, months later, weeks later depending on which media but also it's a strong balance of differentiations. Some like the three here will be major players and have major roles....
.... while others will be surprise supporting roles or even cameo appearances from supporting characters like these three here....
.... or are objects and items that serve as easter eggs that imply or show they're in the same world as well like these beautiful bastards here.
• As for the actual show itself, it will be a 65 episode limited series event with a clear and more than definitive beginning, middle and end. I want the whole show to feel like one long 65 episode feature film while at the same time giving each episode their own stand-out distinctions enough to make them stand on their own. Top of all that, there will be no commercial breaks and every episode will be a full two-hours long with them being treated as events you can't miss. What makes this more special is that there's only one network I have in mind for this series and that's FX.
youtube
• As an added bonus, the show will be incredibly and viscerally violent and even brutal with its gore. Hundreds and hundreds of people, creatures, superheroes, supervillains, zombies etc. will be killed in thousands of different and horrific ways with Rambo (2008), Blade II, aforementioned Inglourious Basterds, The Night Comes For Us and Hard Boiled serving as the main influences for the violence but it's not shock for the sake of shock, it's to show that the world is now somehow more dangerous and visceral than it's ever been before and to show that absolutely no one no matter who they are are safe.
youtube
• As for who are the directors, I want there to be several distinct and interesting filmmakers to helm episodes but the main one who'll direct the most episodes for he's the main director of the series will easily be Gore Verbinski.

i finished innocent sin o7
i get why its very special for some people but i didnt find it incredibly impressive. i do judge it from the perspective that it is a game from 1998. but some of my favorite games are from the late 90s and have very well crafted stories and fun gameplay.
everything just felt a little lacking. in another world i think this could be one of my favorite parties in an RPG- but once again it just felt like there needed to be a bit more of everything. a bit more about everyone reconnecting with jun. more with juns guilt. good ideas are presented- everything just feels underdeveloped. i feel like this is especially apparent with eikichi. eikichis minor plot with his father was always vaguely there. and fighting his dad in the final dungeon is good- but it has no weight and it feels almost like its played for a joke.
also i think tatsuya being a silent protagonist works against the game alot sorry. i understand there are things you can infer but hes a silent protagonist he doesnt have a personality. it makes the shadow tatsyua part a little. aggravating. since the game is trying to make implications about you and they do it in the way psychics do where its vague shit that everybody kinda deals with. also tatsuya being nothing hinders jun since the two are so essential to one another. i dont believe maya when she compares the two so often since tatsuya is literally no one. from what i know i think hes a bit more in eternal punishment but thats not now.
i like that the plot had many moving pieces and its one of those games where i could describe it to you and it would seem like the craziest thing ever. but it all feels like smoke and mirrors.
honestly i can imagine loving the story if they got more philosophical. since the game is based in rumors becoming fact you can get into some really interesting ideas about whats real and it calls into question every single thing about the world of innocent sin. i know i cant really complain about the game not doing something it didnt set out to do- but i feel like this is an approach p2 would take if it was made in the modern era. and also the game is kinda almost doing stuff like that since the entirety of the nazi stuff in the current day p2 world was just created from rumors. i do think they could have done some interesting stuff with post war japan and the damage of conspiracy theories- but once again everything is a bit surface level.
on the other end though. i feel like some of the things in the game ending up just being rumors kinda takes away from them. like juns dad being dead and replaced by some omnipresent being im a bit less into since i think there could be more with the family drama. i know i was just saying i wanted more fake things and for there to be this vague line between whats real or not- but the game itself is in the middle ground so i feel like it suffers from both not letting things be vague and fake- but also taking away from some moments by things being vague and fake. if any of that makes sense.
i love tragedies but i really didnt care for the ending. someone just showed up and killed maya it doesnt feel very tragic. having a character die and then give an ultimatum for bringing her back at the cost for friendship and memories feels very weak since the characters arent majorly flawed. they arent given repentance they are just having something bad happen to them. and that does happen in media and its not a bad story device- but in an ending its very weak and in a tragedy its especially weak.
the gameplay and dungeons were very boring easy and overcomplicated and the constant persona issues of misogyny and weird humor are apparent. i get why its special and im happy to have played it.
i hate saying shit like this alot im sorry i dont trust atlus either. but they should have remade this rather than p3.

I feel like some 9-1-1 fans will hate me for this but....
I don't feel like the show has been the same since roughly season 3b, maybe 4a. I think the writing has changed drastically, and the characters no longer to seem to be as realistic as they once were. When they kill characters off, it is usually just a random side character they introduced the episode before or in the episode itself. I find myself not caring as much for these people in emergent situations, even when it is milked to be tragic and dramatic. I don't feel worried for the characters anymore. I don't think the stakes are as high as they were. Because I don't worry for them, I don't care about them as much anymore. Also, I feel like this show used to be relatively more realistic; the characters had real and lasting flaws, they lost people, they dealt with mental issues because of it. Like actual emergency response does. But I think after Covid hit, they really just wanted to lighten the energy and make it more silly, soapy, campy fun. But it frustrates me as a viewer because I want some of the realistic drama it used to have. Some of the stakes it used to have.
Oh, and don't get me started on Buddie. In seasons 2 and 3, Buck and Eddie had an undeniable chemistry. There was a bit of tension between them. But its almost as if the writers caught wind of this and decided to keep them separate. We hardly see them together anymore, at least in season 6. We had a little bit of buddie content in seasons 4 and 5 but MUCH less than we had in 2 and 3. It frustrates me because there was a certain level of queerbaiting involved, whether they want to deny that or not. Its sad, to me, because it took a show and an on screen relationship I enjoyed and felt was special, and are starting to change it so drastically that I find it a little harder to watch, now. I enjoy the actors, but I hardly feel that they are at their best this season, if only because the writing is not on par with what it used to be.
A couple years ago, I started this Ao3 9-1-1 fic but essentially stopped after the first chapter. I'm thinking of trying my hand at it again. I want to create the spark I once saw in this show. Ideas, HCs, OCs, and prompts welcome. I just miss the early years of the show!

scrapped ideas meme:
🗑️ ⚖️ 💚
Scrapped / on pause / WIP ideas meme
🗑️ a scrapped element of the blog
When I was developing the backgrounds for my OCs, there was a moment when I debated adding to SR's backstory a tragic / bad element, since he's the only one among them who, all in all, had a decent life without too much drama (for Ricks standards, at least). It would have also been in line with the kind of characters I usually write, because tragic backstories are my guilty pleasure xD
I eventually decided against it both because I wanted to try something different, but also because I wanted a character who could still fit Rick standards when it comes to ruthlessness and asshole-ness, but who also was capable of emotional intelligence underneath. SR is the kind of person who hasn't gone through extreme trauma, but he has enough tact that he can be a support for those who have (see his relationship with AR, for example).
Don't get me wrong, he's not a good guy, he has done terrible things and doesn't feel guilty about them in the least, but he has a loose moral code. And he actively tries to be a decent person with the ones he cares for.
I liked this balance between decency and Rickness, and I knew that it would have been hard to develop it if I had given him some big bad event in his backstory. So, he's the only one of my characters who still has his family, who remained in good terms with his Diane even if they divorced and whose Beth actually has a good family life (also, no Jerry in the picture, so maybe that helped xD).
⚖️ something stuck in limbo
I still haven't properly figured out how I want my Morty to feel about the whole Rick Prime ordeal. In the show, they don't really delve into the consequences of him finding out why Rick chose his original dimension specifically, nor how this changes everything that Rick has chosen to do after.
I'm debating whether Morty would see Rick taking him away after they accidentally Cronenberged his dimension as a sign that Rick had come to care for him or if he would see it as Rick wanting to keep something that of Rick Prime in the hope that he might get an interest. Knowing how forgiving Morty is, especially when it comes to Rick, he would probably pick the first option, but I'm toying with the idea that, deep down, he has doubts. And said doubts come out whenever he has one of his bad moments.
I just love both options, the idea of Weird Rick being something that eventually makes Rick and Morty closer and also more on the same level and the idea that instead it adds to the things that have been creating a rift between them. I'm really torn here!
Tho, knowing me, I'll probably end up figuring out a way to mix them because I can't choose xD
💚 for a coming idea that still needs development
I have this verse for Summer I never got to use, but that I'd love to develop sometimes. Basically, after the whole Space Beth reveal, she decides to ditch Earth and join her space mom's crew. You could call it her Star Wars like adventure verse, I guess xD
In this verse, she still is her sassy, mostly detached self, but she would definitely grow into becoming truly confident, into believing in herself and her skills. And she would do that on her own, not through a reflection of Rick's approval or anyone else's.
It's a version of Summer who has found what she wants to do with her life, what she wants from him and also where she belongs, even while still burdened with everything she has learnt through her experience with Rick and her family.

I stayed in all day today, so no sky pics this time.
Positive thing: I finished the rest of 逃げ恥.
I'm still in that warm, hazy phase that I get into right after I finish something I really enjoyed. I feel like it's really rare for me to feel fully emotionally invested in things. I enjoy things in general, but to be so into something I can feel it in a literal, visceral sense has happened only a handful times in my life. I think the last time was when I watched Twenty-Five Twenty-One, except that one ended up ripping my heart into little pieces with how tragic the ending was so I appreciate 逃げ恥 being the complete opposite.
Maybe it's also because real life has gotten so stressful that watching something easygoing and lighthearted, where the world and narrative that's crafted is made to be a generally happy one where everyone gets a good ending, made 逃げ恥 especially appealing. Or maybe I'm also just a sucker for the sheer amount of times the main lead got flustered. Who knows.
To be fair, I think the approach the show took with the main relationship was pretty refreshing. Most romance-centric media makes use of petty misunderstandings and other contrived drama to create conflict, but in 逃げ恥 I understood where each character was coming from and why they acted the way they did. The premise itself is that the main leads are technically in a work-relationship, and are pretending to be married to make the fact that they live together less weird, and inevitably those lines between wanting to maintain a professional relationship versus wanting to pursue their feelings for each other get blurred. So I think all the awkwardness and feelings-hiding makes sense from that perspective rather than the usual "I just don't want to talk about this with you for no reason" kinda thing. Also the main girl lead is very forward, so it doesn't really stay stagnant with them not talking about their feelings.
Anyways, since I just finished watching it I feel like I'm stuck in rambling mode about it. It was just really good and very sweet. It's nice to be sucked into a world where nothing hurts you.
