Dracula: yeah just go ahead and prepare letters saying you're already on your way home, that's normal here. If you could mention wolves biting you or being about to die of natural causes in the last one that'd be SUPER normal and helpful, thank you.

#i’m trying to be normal about this but all my brain is screaming is shit like ‘i’m shedding my skin and eating it’ like i’m unhinged by this
My Top Posts in 2022:

2, 8, 4, and 20!
aaaah thank you!!! i had to take some time to answer these because i’ve been busy and i wanted to take it seriously lol. these are gonna focus on skating au because it’s taken over my life 😂
2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
i’m hoping to make skating au kind of a mixed media/epistolary sort of fic, which is a style i have always really loved and wished to one day do. i’ve been writing out transcripts of event commentary, making fake tweets/kingstagram posts, coming up with news articles and i want them to be kind of naturally woven through the story…. we’ll see if i can pull it off, but i’m gonna try my best!
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
basically, yeah. there was a niche in what i wanted to read and i filled it. i always hope that other people like my work and that it makes them feel something, but honestly i’m just doing this for me 😅
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
i suppose it’s two paragraphs, sorry, but i’m really satisfied with this exchange from sometime near the peak of the intense mutual pining era of skating au. the context is that they’re in practice and their program’s ending pose is borrowed from tessa virtue and scott moir’s umbrellas of cherbourg free dance (skip to 6:30). i'm just a big fan of writing ridiculous flirting, lol.
“Get any closer and you risk picking up some of my lipstick,” she says, willing her voice not to waver. The unspoken “Get any closer and it’s a real kiss,” hangs thick in the air around them.
“What, you don’t think it’s my colour?” Riku teases, and the part of Kairi that believes too hard in love stories half-expects his eyes to dart down to her mouth, but instead they stay fixed on hers, as if daring her to do something about it.
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
i could go on until my voice is hoarse about how much fun i’ve had doing research for the costumes, music, and choreography i’ve selected for different skating programs, but i think i’m most proud of the oathkeeper and oblivion programs. they are such important parts of kh canon, fan favourite keyblades, and they both are irrefutably connected to riku and kairi, so i knew i had to include them somehow. it was literally one of the very first things i decided when i started developing this au the month after kh3 came out. i’m still deciding between a few options for riku’s costumes, but i have kairi’s dresses picked out and the music they skate to (oblivion and oathkeeper).

Lmao since I’m already fairly sure of your answers for Kingdom Hearts, answer the questions for Miraculous Ladybug.
LOL and here i was getting my kh answers all ready to go 😂
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): i don't know if i really have a blorbo? i really enjoy ml but i'm not like that invested it's like the fandom equivalent of junk food? i love marinette and adrien? they're the blorbos?
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): adrien is baby and i have the adoption papers already filled out. minou.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): marinette's parents. yes the fandom appreciates them, but it's not enough
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): yeah this one is the hardest lol. maybe emilie i get really excited about finally learning more about her
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): i think legally the answer to this has to be plagg because he IS the poor little meow meow
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): you know i really think there's opportunity in canon to just torment the hell out of luka, as the only person who knows their secret identities and one with access to time loop powers. he's sweet. break him.
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): i know gabriel is the easy answer but as somebody who finds the "rude blonde girl bully" trope absolutely wretched and overdone i don't really care about chloe getting a redemption arc i just don't want to see her

72 Hours
You only have 72 hours to detain Steve Rogers. He’s the only opportunity you can get to find out what happened and why half of the population mysteriously disappeared.
Tumblr media
word count: 3,168
tags: eventual dark!steve rogers and non-con; however, none much in this chapter but plot and interaction
    Things escalated so quickly.
Ever since half of the world population had suddenly disappeared, which left fewer people walking around the streets of Manhattan, your job had become stressful yet so useless. The rest of the investigative crew are close to giving up and adapting to what has been left.
Meanwhile, here you were. Neither convinced nor ready to accept the fact that most of your friends and family have vanished.
Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. By now, the withdrawal is coming close to a year and a half. Yet the clues you have gathered merely comprises for a month of effort.
“You should be giving up on this already.” Two of your colleagues walk behind you, either of them comforting your bothered state by rubbing your back as a gesture to cheer up. The hint of hopelessness in their tone bothers you more than their initial intention.
“I doubt you will be solving one of the biggest mysteries of the world yet,” they state with an implication of humor before pulling back. From the corner of your vision, you could see their jackets folded neatly and hung on top of their arms. Just as their uniforms remained pressed, it conveys that they were already prepared to check out of their shift.
“But hey, if you do solve it, let us know. We’ll be more than supportive and grateful for your efforts, Agent.”
“Thanks. I hope so,” your voice was soft, resisting to show any sign of weakness or vulnerability despite on the verge of breaking down on the inside.
Within a few minutes, the office was left noiseless. Most of the officers who had day shifts proceeded to depart by the hour until you and two others have remained.
For you, it did not matter whether you got paid for overtime from your original schedule. Since you did not have anyone to look forward to when coming home, you preferred to spend most of your hours at work, searching for a way to somehow bring them back.
The chances were so odd and slim. The fact that all your families and friends near your location were wiped out. You could not do anything since you did not know who caused all this disaster, let alone the reasons behind the disappearances.
As your elbows were resting on top of your desk, your head fell onto both your palms. A big sigh was released from your lips countless times already. This wasn’t just getting lonely anymore, you were obsessing over something that was far from your reach.
The plain screensaver of the bureau’s logo was dancing over your desktop. Along with several pictures, specifically one or more for each member of the well-known extra-terrestrial fighting group of Avengers. Their superhero names were scribbled with red ink and pinned onto a small corkboard.
    Tony Stark.
The name haunted you to your dreams. The billionaire who brought good and bad things into New York City.
You are not entirely sure why your guts were forcing you to focus on this man amongst the rest of his alliance. But you were just desperate to cling onto any evidence blindly hanging in front of you.
For the entirety of the event, you haven’t had a single report about him. Assuming that he’s been trying to hide from this mess, you tried contacting other bureaus from across the world in search of the man. For months of being very pushy, you have only been getting the same phrases like a broken record.
    ‘I’m sorry, Agent.’
‘No. We haven’t had any reports about Tony Stark.’
‘My crew has been trying their best, but there aren’t any traces of him.’
‘We assure you we’ll find him sooner or later, Agent.’
‘Please be patient, we don’t have much manpower here anymore.’
For months, you have been at the edge of your seat. Eager to answer the phone at the first ring. If it’s not considered patient then soon enough it’s going to run out. You did not know what backup plan you have once that does happen though.
Maybe going crazy would ironically be the sanest thing to happen.
Nevertheless, you will eventually cross that bridge when you get there. For now, the only option you have is to overwork yourself to the edge of insanity.
“A long day you got there, Agent?” A subordinate of yours passes by with two cups of coffee in her hand. She sets down the other right beside your computer screen and glances at the pictures splayed across your work area.
You groan, a frown still evident as you sat up straight before replying, “Oh tell me about it, I’ve had the longest year.”
She gave you a warm smile, like always around this time of evening. Though only being hired recently after a month of the mysterious disappearing arc, she continued to attend to her shift and adapt as the others would. And despite almost a year of greeting, and often bringing you a cup of coffee, you never really gave any of your attention to her.
This time though, you looked back just as she was about to leave. You were quick enough to get a glance of her name plastered on her identification card connected to a lanyard that draped around her collar.
    Agent Maria Hill.
“Agent Hill,” you addressed her. She turned around with a smile, looking neatly as ever with her hair combed and pinned in a neat bun.
    “Yes?”
"Thanks for the coffee, like every night." Your gratitude combines with a warming smile that reaches out for her. Though appearing exhausted from staring at a screen and documents for hours, you tried to look your best when facing her.
"It's no big deal." Her reply trails down to murmur a few indistinctive words that you merely brushed off, assuming that it was nothing but a nice gesture.
Before her figure could entirely exit the vicinity of your workplace, you swiftly chirped, "And thanks for being so nice to me!" A chuckle was heard from her, leaving off with a smile as she walked away without responding anything in return.
Immediately, your mood shifted again returning to your usual distressed state of mind.
The coffee you drank earlier was wearing off from your system. You could drink the cup your colleague had offered, but you figured it could not do much now that your body could only harbor caffeine to such an extent. A twelve-hour shift with merely half an hour of lunch break would not leave you, or anyone, at best. By sooner, your eyelids were getting heavy, risking to doze off at work.
Your fingers reached to move your mouse, dragging the cursor along with the useless mail your inbox has been receiving. Each of them took that least bit of hope of finding Stark, making you feel caged and haunted every day as there is not any progress in a year.
Again, you groan, louder this time. Other agents around could have heard you yet shrugged your frustration casually since they have witnessed it for months. You ball your fists and slam it against your desk, rough enough to make a sound echo throughout the room, but not enough to break it into two.
“Fuck, I need the rest,” you admit to yourself.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚
    24 hours
Days have passed. Like usual – nothing.
As always, your routine started just as you were walking to the agency. However, amidst peacefully walking at the pavement, trying to get even a hint of peace of mind, the phone tucked inside the pocket of your jacket started ringing.
The name of your agency was the first thing you have noticed as you faced the small screen. Moreover, you did not hesitate to slide the green phone button to answer.
    “Hel–”
Just as you were about to offhandedly greet the person at the other line, they made their way to cut the conversation fearfully.
“They found him! They found him, Agent!” The fearful yet impressed tone was evident, and eventually, you realized that the familiar voice belonged to Agent Hill.
Nonetheless, your mind started wandering to different scenarios, jumping to conclusions like a kid. Despite barely hearing anything other than they caught someone, you were sure looking as joyful as ever. It was as if every bit of hope you lost each week have been restored.
For a short while of daydreaming, you have recovered quickly. Moreover, inquire about the context of what she’s trying to refer to. “What do you mean you’ve found him, Hill?”
Your heart raced quickly. The tension behind finding out who it was was far from the reality of it being a pause for mere seconds.
Please say you have found Stark. Your mind could only pray harder for those words to be repeated from the other end of the call.
“The team found one of the members of the Avengers,” she answers.
    “Which one of them?”
    “It’s Steve Rogers.”
Your world partly crumbled after hearing a different name compared to what you were expecting. Nevertheless, happy enough that you were progressing on the vision you have laid out.
“Hold on, I’ll be at the station in a few minutes.” You assert, turning around the corner of a street you were approaching. From here, there was a fair five-minute jog until your office. Considering that it was early morning, you did not hesitate to start speeding your pace.
Right now, as if things escalated so quickly
Once you arrived, you passed vacant offices until reaching the interrogation room. The other officers were gathered outside it, facing the two-way mirror that displayed the known Captain America.
Maria Hill was standing closest to the mirror. Getting the best view of the super-soldier sitting peacefully inside the room. You approached her with a confused look upon your face.
“How did you even find him?”
“It’s a long story, there were two of them though we could only catch up with Mr. Rogers,” she explains.
“Alright.” You motioned for your other colleagues to return to their original tasks. Both you and Agent Hill were left, given privacy to talk about what should be done.
“Give me a moment with him, I’ll try to see what information we can get.” Agent Hill nods at you and hands over a folder. She gestures for you to take a step inside the room and reassures that she will be outside to act as a witness.
As you enter the room, it felt colder in addition to the resentful stare coming from Captain America himself. His gaze does not leave you, following your trail up until you reach the metal chair and take a seat in front of him.
Your back begins to sweat even after barely interacting with him. You did not know what could happen. For all you know, he could rip his handcuffs and beat your face over the table.
Nonetheless, you tried to look as assertive as possible. Adjusting your posture to feel comfier in your seat and clasped both palms of your hands over each other. You look in front, seeing the man still staring at you.
You took a deep breath to prepare yourself “Nice to see you in Manhattan again, Mr. Rogers.” Your voice was close to breaking, but you disregarded it. This is your nearest encounter with a superhero, so it would be normal for anyone to feel pressured.
The soldier raises one eyebrow at your greeting. He pulls back and slumps on his chair, acting as if he’s the one probing the detainee. “Been keeping track of me, ma’am?”
The tone of his voice instantly became cocky. Even so, smirking while his gaze shifts from the floor and back at you.
“I have been keeping track of the Avengers for these past months,” you affirm. To prevent a boost of ego in his system, you also added, “But I wasn’t specifically keeping my eye on you, Captain.”
He imitates an offended look, placing one of his cuffed hands over his left chest. “Ouch. Was expecting a pretty woman like you tracking down America’s Golden Boy.”
“Nonetheless, do tell me which one of us were you looking for. Is it Stark?” You tried to ignore his mood swings. The sudden change of being quiet, then proceeding to act hurt, and now seeming provoked even if you had not given any answers yet.
You figured it was best to ignore his question.
“Mr. Rogers, may I know what you were doing here in Manhattan and who you were with–”
“I asked you a question first,” he reminds.
“Look, sir, I don’t think it will help if I’m the one answering questions here,” you sigh. “So if you could please cooperate with us.”
“Cooperate? Why would I?” He scoffs. “You can only detain me here for seventy-two hours at most. Considering that you have no evidence against me, you can only hope to pray for a miracle.”
His attitude was not at all welcoming. Your blood started to boil at the man seated in front of you, acting as if he is completely innocent about all this.
“Is it true that you aren’t withholding any information about the disappearance of half of the world population?” You argue with a brow raised at him.
“I know nothing,” the man answers.
“And if you do know something, that’s obstruction of justice. You know that right, Captain?”
He smiles faintly. This time he breaks his stare, looking at the floor while answering, “Yes I do, ma’am. Very well.”
His expressions were starting to drive you crazy. You were used to this kind of scenario back when things were normal. Though after the events transpired, it has been a year without you interrogating someone who was held inside this room. You’ve gotten subpar upon looking like an intimidating officer.
“Okay then.” You nod, “Can you explain to me why you and your accomplice tried to run away from the cops.”
“We didn’t,” he said, ever so boldly. “Your friend, over there, spotted us and tried to cuff us immediately. Which one of you thought that was a good idea?”
Your gaze follows onto the large mirror placed near the door of the room. You could only see both you and Steve Rogers, but you knew Agent Hill was at the other side listening to your conversation.
“Look, half of the population mysteriously disappeared,” you sigh in between, “it’s not something a normal person would be able to perform. Can you blame us for following up on the Avengers?”
“I guess not then, ma’am.” He nods, accepting your statement. “Still won’t change the fact that I have no idea about all these disappearances, yeah?”
“Right, then tell me who were you with before Agent Hill decided to detain you here.” You lean back while crossing both your arms against your chest. Your teeth lightly bit the insides of your cheeks as you tried to hold out a frustrated sigh.
    “Well, I was with Nat,”
“Nat? Natasha Romanoff?” You raise your chin, intrigued to find out more. “Five-foot five, Russian assassin, shoulder-length vermillion hair, Natasha Romanoff?”
“That’s impressively accurate.” Steve Rogers chuckles in front of you again before adding, “Except that she’s blonde now.”
You tried to take in a few minutes to grasp the information. The silence prods through your thoughts as you analyze the possibilities, perceiving that maybe, just maybe, you’re a few steps closer to Tony Stark.
But the man disrupted your thoughts, “Still don’t know why you’re holding us custody despite all this. You won’t get anything, might as well cut to the chase.”
    “You’re quite a smart-mouth there, Captain.”
“And you’re quite eager to find about Stark, Agent,” he mocks. You throw your head back in defeat. This was going nowhere and both of you knew it.
Instead, you push against the table so you could finally stand up. You rest both your palms flat against the cold metal table, arms stretched wide to balance your weight out.     “I think that’s enough for today.” You grab the untouched folder before turning to your side to walk towards the door. “Thank you for trying to cooperate with us, Mr. Rogers.”
As you head out, you noticed that Agent Hill was already out of sight. She most likely headed to do her job rather than to stand and watch you and Steve exchange nonsense.
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚
As you get home, you dressed into casual home clothes and headed to bed.
You could not entirely fall asleep. The super-soldier was stuck in your mind, frustrating you into the depths of it.
You tried to ponder, grabbing the folder of compiled documents that Agent Hill handed you over earlier. As you opened it, the first layer of it was pictures of Steve Roger’s face throughout the week. You guessed that they were not just trailing him today, but also studied his moves for the past week.
Furthermore, you flipped through pictures of him and his crew, but they looked like they were not in taken in New York. It was dark and the faces of Steve, Natasha, two other persons in the background could be seen fairly.
“Huh.” You furrowed your eyebrows realizing that there were more details about them that you expected. For a while also wondering why Hill did not updated you about these at least.
But eventually you acknowledged that you were so busy figuring out information about Tony Stark, that you forgot that the other superheroes he has worked with were just as significant.
Steve Rogers. Natasha Romanoff. Sam Wilson.     Location: Edinburgh, Scottland     21:32. April 2018
Steve Rogers. Natasha Romanoff.     Location: Manhattan, New York     13:05. October 2019
His beard remained almost the same despite the year difference. His golden hair was brushed backed sleekly. His appearance was still alike a year ago which meant that he was trying to maintain that kind of appearance
Compared to his clean, shaved aura back in 2012, you can admit that he looks way more intimidating now. You did not know whether he was trying to look different to prevent the bureau from recognizing him or if it was because he wanted to look like some creepy degenerate.
Nonetheless, there were a lot of questions running around your mind. It was only tonight when you finally got to grasp on who and what you’re dealing with.
However, your comprehensive scanning was interrupted after hearing a tap on your window. It did not sound as terrifying as it would, but it was loud enough to interrupt your thoughts from getting further.
In the end, you set the files on top of your nightstand and switched on your lamp. You lay in your bed, eyes sealed shut yet your mind still wanders off, trying to fit together the pieces of the puzzle.
When drifting to sleep, the most evident question strayed:
Why was Steve Rogers, and his team, staying in Manhattan, despite hiding completely undisturbed in Edinburgh?

Writer Meta Meme
I decided to do all the questions on this meme :)
1. Tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
My current project is Concubinage, my gaiwin arranged marriage AU. It started as a random, entirely self-indulgent idea, but it has since grown into an actual project. Progress is good, I’ve managed to do bi-monthly updates and I have 30k in my drafts so far.
What I love the most about it is that, since it’s an AU, I’m pretty free to do whatever I want. I don’t have to be too careful of timelines and so on. Plus, in this AU, Gaius and Wingul are able to get closer than they otherwise would, due to the different circumstances. They have their own trials, but it’s different than in the canon timeline.
Another current project is Tales of Xillia Week, but I didn’t get much inspiration for it so I think I’m gonna do meta/headcanon posts more than fics ^^;
2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
I’m looking forward to getting to the part where it’s just domestic fluff haha. It’ll take a while to reach that point though.
3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
Not just one scene ig, but I’ve been wanting to write one-shots showing how the Chimeriad survived, and... haven’t gotten around to planning it. So it’s pretty low on my project list tbh.
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
I have... a few, but they’re all spoilers for future chapters XD;;
5. What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
I don’t... really identify with characters. I mean, they’re pretty different than me in personality, life and circumstances...
6. What character do you have the most fun writing?
I love writing Gaius and Wingul of course, but Agria’s probably the most fun. She’s completely unrestrained, which makes her pretty easy and fun to let loose XD
7. What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?
Exposition and worldbuilding XD
I can’t help it, I always need to develop the setting...
8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
Yes. I would love it if more people wrote gaiwin XD
9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?
I used to be more of a ficlet writer, but I’m currently doing well with a longfic XD
As for the rest, it varies. I like to plot and outline a bit, but it’s often rather loose and I let inspiration guide me.
10. How would you describe your writing process?
Wait for inspiration time, energy and motivation to align.
11. What do you envy in other writers?
Those who update super long fics every week. How do you do it????
12. Do you want your writing to be famous?
Naah, I’m fine in my corner of fandom. Though I wouldn’t say no to a few more readers, if only to know that the ship still sails xD
13. Do you share your writing online? (Drop a link!) Do you have projects you’ve kept just for yourself?
Yep, I post on AO3. And all projects are meant to be posted one day, but some aren’t simply because they aren’t finished.
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
The beginning, usually, but I might change it
15. Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?
Tags are easy. Titles and summaries are hard, and I always end up with something boring but heh, as long as they get the meaning across...
16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)
It was last year, but I tried first person pov with my Agria fic, because that fits her well. I’d like to try poetry, maybe.
17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?
I have no idea tbh. When I write, I like to imagine what my readers will think (especially like when I write funny scenes, I hope they’ll make people laugh), but idk if it’s exactly like I think.
18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
In Concubinage, I considered adding a plotline where Arst met an ex and had to deal with complicated feelings about it -- being reminded how it was to be in a loving relationship vs political marriage, craving intimacy like he used to have with said ex, etc. I ended up scrapping the idea though.
I also have... two or three possible ways things can play out in a much later plotpoint, and I think I’m pretty sure of which way I’ll go already, but the other possibilities exist. Maybe I’ll make a post about all abandoned plotlines one day...
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
“And, but, and, but...” XD;
Also characters often find themselves doing something before they knew it...
My style is probably pretty repetitive. I’m not a native speaker, and I feel limited sometimes...
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
Concubinage is the result of watching too many sageuk and  taiga drama. No I’m not sorry.
When writing AU, I always like to include “cameo” of the original storyline (for example, as the plot of a book, or treating the canon games as a fractured dimension in Chimeriad Live AU’s, etc)
In Fractured Lives, I try to alternate Wingul and Gaius’ pov. It’s probably gonna bite me in the ass when some plot points work better in one pov but the chapter requires the other. I’ll probably have to come up with some fillers or something...
I have extensive headcanon about Auj Oule’s geography, history etc, which pops up in a lot of (planned) fics. Even if it’s different fics/AU’s (ex. Concubinage vs my pre-game gaiwin project vs the Wingul fic I was writing for the big bang), I reuse the same settings and OC’s. Most of those aren’t written/posted yet so it’s pretty self-contained for now, but if I ever get to completing those projects I hope it won’t be too confusing to readers who don’t follow all the stories...
21. What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)
If I had the art skills, I’d love to turn some of them into comics ;A;
22. Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?
Sometimes. Usually because I need to refresh my memory before writing a new chapter XD
23. What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?
That project to write the whole pre-game Gaius & Wingul history, that’s something I’ve been wanting since forever. Well, I originally wanted to read it, but since no one’s gonna do it, I started thinking I should write it. It’s gonna be a huge project though...
24. Would you say your writing has changed over time?
I honestly have no idea. I do sense a difference in that it’s much easier for me to just write now; I guess habit helps. But I have no idea if style changed or anything lol.
25. What part of writing is the most fun?
Filling the tag with my OTP XD

Note
all the ones you want to do 👀
well, here’s everything except the ones i’ve answered, you asked for it
theyre mostly about my youngmabel au, which i will ramblr about for free if anyones interested :’)
What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
i’ve, for a really really long time, wanted to write like. a scene where laura kinney and henry sutter Talk Their Shit Out, but that would take so so long and i’m not motivated... sorry laura and henry. okay i think the rest of these will b about mabel but. gotta stick with my idiots.
Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
this is from my young mabel story !!
“[Mabel] stops banging her head when she feels a stab of anxiety slash through her stomach. It’s not hers, that much is obvious-- it’s a soft golden feeling, the nerves, the--
The girl in the front of her mind, with hair cut just below her ears. Small scatterings of pimples across her face. She has a smile without sharp teeth; she cracks her knuckles when she’s bored or needs to fidget; she owns a pair of overalls she wears at least twice a week in the summer, when she’s in the mood to run around the fields outside her home, barefoot, with a friend or a girlfriend, when she wants to smoke a cigarette or two (she’d kicked the habit exactly three weeks ago today, she’s really proud of herself and her sister is, too), her sister’s name is Mónica and her name is Anna, Anna, Anna, Anna, Anna--
Anna Limon, Anna Limon, Anna Limon.”
the reverance to which mabel says anna’s name has always Hit Me for personal reasons and this scene i think is good. that is all
What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
right now? either vera or mabel. vera is... not Right, and not Wanted by the outside world, so she’s angry and stupid to combat it. and mabel just... loves Her Person more than anything in the world, so there’s that.
What character do you have the most fun writing?
again, mabel!! she’s so fun and angry all the time and it’s so freeing to just be able to do whatever the hell you WANT with a character
What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?
Uh!! I think i use a lot of metaphor and write a lot of physical affection :’) i’m not sure if others would agree but that’s pretty basic!!
Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?
yeah...
Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter?
i write a lot of drabbles, but my proudest works are my long fic!!! i also plot way too much and i love to do it.
Do you wish you were the other?
i have no idea what this means but... yeah i guess? How would you describe your writing process?
pace around my entire house looping one (1) song thinking of one (1) scene. figure out exactly what it would take to get the characters to that point. write like 2000 words, fall asleep, cant make words for the next three years.
What do you envy in other writers?
oh god, everything. i don’t know how to make my words flow like certain people do, RIVER
Do you want your writing to be famous?
god no. my stories are mine.
Do you share your writing online? (Drop a link!) Do you have projects you’ve kept just for yourself?
yes! here! there’s one story i’ve only shared with two people and that’s my borderline-ridiculous ‘beetlejuice with lab rats and gay shit and werewolves’ au, it’s the most self indulgent thing i’ve ever written and i love it so much.
At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
usually while listening to songs!! fr example my most recent posted fic is a lyric from ‘cop car’ by mitski because the line ‘i get mean when i’m nervous / like a bad dog’ makes me think of mabel, thus that fic came into existence.
Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?
SUMMARIES i hate summaries usually i just paste in whatever i’ve got as the first sentence.
Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)
not really? new fandom but. i got my bread and butter, dude, i don’t feel like branching out. writing’s just a hobby i’m okay at.
Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?
i don’t think so !! like some of the stuff is personal and you can’t really understand from an outside POV, but. most of it is just dorky found family stuff!
Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
oh dear god yes... i mean. obvs river youre asking this youre aware of my aus. but i have a billion aus, theyre my favorite thing to write and ive got at least three for every fandom i’m in. i have an au for my lab rat beetlejuice au, too, which i’ll get around to writing someday.
Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)
ALL I DO IS DESCRIBE PEOPLE’S TEETH AND PHYSICAL AFFECTION. uhh i use the phrase ‘bared their teeth / had far too many teeth / smiled with too many teeth’ a lot, its because i find it the easiest descriptor for monsters and i like to write about monsters.
Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
ohh god okay youngmabel take three. anna wears soft reds and lots of layers-- to contrast mabel, who wears a thin nightgown and has a bright green color palette. this is largely because mabel has been made to show herself to everyone who’s tried to control her (sally, aurora silver, etc) while anna hides in herself. anna specifically wears one of mónica’s old sweaters, because she can hide and protect herself with her family, while mabel cant. also i love mónica im so hype to have her in the series. mabel also repeats things in groups of threes (”hello, hello, hello, anna, hello, hello, hello”) because she’s fae. i love her. ough and i cant wait for the character development you guys rnt ready fr this dumb series
What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)
I WOULD LOVE FR IT TO BE AN ANIMATED SERIES but also it as a film would rock.... yeahhhhh
Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?
my xmen ones, yeah. they’re really comforting for me. i feel like i wanna give my kid self a big big hug.
What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?
probs the daemons au or the agents of shield / xmen crossover.. those both gave baby abbey a lot of fun hours.
Would you say your writing has changed over time?
yeah! ive gotten better i think
OKAY RAMBLE OVER THANKS RIV

Logan had been buzzing with anticipation all weekend over who his mystery guy could be, and he could tell that it was getting on Roman’s nerves no matter how much he claimed to be a sucker for a good romance, but it was just… He was absolutely captivated, and the only clue that he had towards the identity of his mystery man was an iPod. That in and of itself should be a huge clue because, honestly, who had an iPod in 2018, but that was just it. Who even had an iPod? Not a single person that he could think of.
With that dead-end in mind, Logan turned to yearbooks. He knew that there was a possibility that he had danced with a freshman or sophomore, but he obviously didn’t have access to yearbooks from the previous year, so he had to rely on his own freshman and sophomore yearbooks. Those, too, came up with a dead-end. He found someone close--Patton King--who, in sophomore year, had dyed his full head bright blue, but the bouncy curls were completely different to the light waves in the hair of whomever he had danced with.
Logan had begrudgingly told Roman that they would have to take this search more public. Sure, there were mysteries that Logan simply wouldn’t be able to solve, but this one was so much more complicated than he had originally thought, and he was certainly going to need help.
“Hey, um, Mx. Elliott…”
“Oh, Logan! Welcome back to school--though, I’m a bit hurt that it took you this long to come and visit me.”
Logan blushed a bit. He felt bad about not visiting, but there were only so many hours in the day where he had time off. “I’m so sorry, Mx. I promise that I’ll stop here more often.” There was an awkward pause as Logan thought of what to say next. “So… How is Mitchell doing?”
“Oh. I broke up with him for good. I took yours and Joan’s advice, and I kicked him out of my apartment about six weeks ago.” They fiddled a bit with the sleeve of their sweater uncomfortably. For years, Elliott had been a good friend of Logan’s, but they were dating this awful guy named Mitchell for just as long. Elliott’s self esteem was ripped to shreds time and time again, and they had a hard time listening to their cousin, Joan, and Logan’s advice.
“I’m very proud of you for doing that. I’m sure that it took a lot of strength, and I’m glad that you’ve gotten your life back into your own hands.” Logan paused and held out the iPod. “However, I didn’t come here merely to talk pleasantries. I need to find someone. I danced with him at the ball, and he dropped this, and--”
Elliott smirked. “And you fell in love?”
“What? No! No, of course not.” Tick. “Well…” Tock. “Maybe…” Tick. “But it’s none of your business!”
“You literally came here for my assistance, Logan. It is by definition my business now.”
“Hush! Just--Roman--PA!” Logan pushed Roman, who had been standing there silently, at the PA system to make the announcement.
And, in normal Roman fashion, it was ridiculously extra. “Ladies, lords, and non-binary royalty, The Prince is on the mic to ask you all formally if you have seen a handsome lad who ditched my best friend Logie--”
“Logie?!”
Roman covered the microphone with his hand as he hissed, “Logan didn’t rhyme there!”
“Shut up and hand over the mic,” Logan growled as he pushed Roman out of the chair and sat down. “Hello. It’s me, Logan Parker.” He took a deep, calming breath. “On Saturday, I danced with one of the most amazing people. You left in a hurry, and you ended up dropping your iPod on the ground. In all honesty, it was the best night of my life, and I want to give you back your iPod, so… if you are able to name the top four songs on your playlist, I’ll return the iPod to you. And maybe we can get coffee or something. Roman and I will be sitting in the center of the cafeteria at lunch so that we can find you.” He unclicked the on button of the PA, and sat back.
“You Gucci, Specs?” Roman asked.
“Yeah. I think so. This should be easy.”
“Okay, Chris. Go.” Logan felt every ounce of his soul drain from his body as his eyes flicked over to the dozens of students lined up to try and prove that they were his mystery guy.
“‘Livin’ la Vida Loca,’ ‘Maria,’ ‘She Bangs,’ and ‘Shake Your Bon-Bon.’ All by Ricky Martin.”
Logan swiped at a puddle of tears that had been left on the lunchroom table with his hand. “Sorry, but that isn’t it.”
The boy stormed off, and Logan let his head fall into his hands. This was a disaster. Logan mentally kicked himself for not being able to recognize who he was looking for right off the bat. He was such an idio--
“Hey, Lo. Do you want me to go around the line and kick out the excesses?” Roman whispered gently.
“God, please do.” Logan looked up; he felt like he was going to cry. “They’re all the same cookie-cutter Hollywood guys, Ro. That guy from the ball was special, but… what if I can’t find him?”
“Are you kidding? You are the Logan Parker! I have no doubt in my mind that we’ll find him.” He smiled. “I think he helped pull you out of your slump. There’s no way I’m letting a guy like that go.”
“Thanks, Roman.”
“Hey, what else is a prince for?”
Virgil shivered as he felt cold water drip down the back of his neck, no doubt staining it with streaks of purple. He had been unlucky enough to fall asleep during his second block class, and one of his asshole classmates got their hands on some glitter glue and wrote transphobic slurs in his hair. It was pretty standard for shit like that to happen, but Virgil had only dyed his hair again yesterday to it’s full purple potential, so it sucked that he had to wash it again. And Patton was pissed. That was pretty normal, too.
“If that teacher had known any better, she would have reported that guy for harassment!”
“Pat, just leave it. She was doing what would protect me from the wrath of administration. If she had reported him, she would have had to explain why I didn’t stop him, which would have gotten me in trouble, and I probably would have been taken out of school by Dominic. I’m already on thin enough ice. Mrs. Larsen was helping me.” Virgil began to ascend the cafeteria stairs, slipping around people who were stationed on the sides.
“That’s still such bullsh--”
Virgil pulled Patton to the side of the stairs with enough force to dislocate a shoulder. “Shut the fuck up for a second and look.”
“Holy--”
“I didn’t think he’d actually do it!” A dozen yards away sat the longest line of people that Virgil had ever seen outside of a Black Friday sale at the Gucci store in Los Angeles. And there was Logan at the head. “Are you fucking serious?”
“Virge, you’ve gotta go down there and tell him before someone starts a riot!”
“No!” Virgil turned to Patton. “No way.”
Patton wildly gestured at Logan. “He said that it was the best night of his life.”
“Yeah. Until he finds out that it was me.” He threw another glance at Logan. “Let’s just go.”
Virgil and Patton continued to their classes, but underneath the stairs, Toby and Ember had heard everything.
The second that Virgil entered the house, Toby and Ember were there to intercept him.
“Look at you, acting all innocent!” Toby snarled. Virgil needed to know that they weren’t going to let him steal Logan away.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Virgil looked confused and tried to evade the twins.
“Oh,” Ember said, gripping Virgil’s arm tightly. “We know it was you at the ball with Logan.”
There was a short pause before Virgil said, “You guys are crazy.”
“No, actually, you’re the crazy one if you think that we’re going to let you end up with Logan, you weird stalker!”
“And if you tell him that it was you,” Toby interjected, waving one of the copies of Virgil’s video in the air. “Your video will be everywhere. Hello, YouTube!”
Virgil scoffed. “You guys can barely work the toaster, let alone YouTube.”
“Try us.”
Ember pushed Virgil away. “Go make dinner. We’re hungry.”
Virgil stared at the twins for a few moments and walked away. Toby turned and went to the door.
“Hey, Toby, where’re you going?”
Toby froze. “None of your business, Ember! I mean, uh, nowhere. For a walk… Uh, outside.”
“Oh. Okay, bye!”
“Yeah, bye.” Toby slipped out the front door and went straight to Virgil’s room. “Playlist. I need to find that playlist.”
Clothes, pencils, notebooks, and everything in between was scattered through Virgil’s room as Toby searched. For twenty minutes, he found nothing, until…
“Aha! Hidden in plain sight, of course!” He lifted up a pillow and found an old Macbook. Without a second of hesitation, he opened it up and went to iTunes. “Okay… ‘Dying in LA,’ ‘Save Rock and Roll,’ ‘Freeze Your Brain,’ ‘Defying Gravity,’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’ Perfect!” He scribbled the titles onto the back of his right hand and went to make his leave, but the door swung open right as he was about to open it, and he was flung into the wall.
Ember sauntered into the room and gasped when he saw the laptop. He picked it up to find the songs, but it tumbled right out of his hands and onto the floor. It was obvious from the loud cracking sound that the laptop wasn’t going to be useable anymore.
“Can you give me a hint as to what genre the songs are?” Chris asked, pressing closer to Roman and Logan. “Are they emo? Metal? Electroclash? Latin pop???”
“Okay, everyone! Disperse yourselves.” Roman hopped up from his seat at the table to usher people away. “Come back… after class or something. Logan’s going to take a break.”
Logan slumped in his seat and waited for Roman to return to speak. “I’m never going to find him. This is hopeless.”
“Hold up. What is this illogical garbage that I’m hearing from you, Logan?” Roman looked more offended than usual.
“It’s not illogical, though.” It was more of a question than a statement.
“It most certainly is! Say there’s an equal fifty-fifty distribution of males and females at our school--excluding the lovely non-binaries, which would make up around 1% of our school, probably. That means that there are about 750 males at our school currently. Sure, the odds don’t seem great, but there’s a chance. Therefore, Logan, we must keep hope that you will find your prince.” Roman smirked. “Logical enough for you, Specs?”
Logan smiled a bit. “Go away.”
“Nah. I’d never ditch my best friend, Lo--”
“Logan Parker!”
“Toby,” Roman sighed, standing up to escort the twin away. “Dude, Logan is on a break. Please come back during business hours, or you can send a letter that will be processed in five to seven business days.”
“Oh, of course. I’m actually in the mood for a prince…” Toby flirtatiously traced his finger on Roman’s collar.
“Are you serious?”
“No! Get out of my way!” Roman was flung backwards with a surprising amount of force, and Logan was only able to stare at his best friend as Toby approached. “I’m The One, Logan!”
Logan didn’t even have the energy to muster a laugh. “Yeah, right.”
“I can prove it. I know all of the songs on the playlist.”
“Of course. Do go on.”
Toby smiled a dazzling smile. Well, dazzling in the blinding way with his bright orange, sparkly braces bands. “‘Dying in LA,’ ‘Save Rock and Roll,’ ‘Freeze Your Brain,’ ‘Defying Gravity,’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody!’”
Roman rejoined Logan and whispered, “This is impossible. Right?”
“Ha! I’m right! Kiss me!” Toby surged forward, and Logan almost fell backwards trying to evade him.
“Woah, holy--wait!” Logan held Toby at arm’s length. “You’ve got to dance first.”
“What?!” Toby spluttered. “But--I already told you the songs! That’s all you asked. And I’m not warmed up, and there’s no music!”
Roman sighed dramatically, hanging off of Logan. “Logan, darling, he’s obviously not the one you’re looking for. I mean, he can’t even dance for you.”
“Oh, you’re right!” Logan swerved around Toby. “Well, see ya!”
“No, wait!” Toby grabbed Logan’s hand and spun him back to the table. “I love to dance!”
Logan watched in horror-filled awe as Toby started to “dance” in harsh, seizing motions. In all honesty, he hadn’t expected anything like that. Roman, completely unfazed, decided that it was time to leave, and he dragged Logan away as Toby continued to dance.
Logan was tired. He was really fucking tired of having being, well… for being Logan Parker. It honestly just sucked to be famous. Which sounded stupid and pretentious, but it was true. People fawned over him, and he just wanted some coffee, but there was only shitty canned espresso in an overpriced vending machine, so here he was. In a random hallway getting coffee. He jabbed at the coffee button and leaned down to grab the can. As he stood up, he came face to face with Ember standing in what he could only construe as a seductive position against the vending machine.
“Woah, okay, Ember…”
“Ready to meet your mystery guy, Logan?”
“You know the songs, too? God, can I just catch a break?” Logan ran a hand through his hair and started to walk away, but Ember tugged him back.
What is with these twins and tugging people around?
“But I’m the real freaking one! And I freaking love you, so you’d better freaking love me back, you freaking freak!” Ember yelled. Logan blinked a few times at the outburst.
“Way, way, way deep inside, I’m sure that you’re a… decent person, Ember, but I’ve really got to go--”
“I can prove it!” He threw his backpack on the ground with a dull plop. “Through dance!”
Before Ember could even get very far into his equally as awful dance, Logan ditched the scene, eager to find Roman to get out of the school for his off period.
“Oh my god, Virge. I can’t believe the twins would hold that video against you! You were literally eleven.”
Virgil ate another spoonful of frosting from the tub that Patton had bought him, glaring out the windshield at nothing in particular. “What do I do? I don’t want Logan to think that I’m a fucking stalker! Not to mention the fact that he obviously doesn’t remember me from pre-transition, so he’d find out about that, too. People like me don’t belong with people like him.”
“Look,” Patton said seriously; although, the off-kilter blue bow in his hair made it a little difficult to actually take him seriously. “You and Logan clicked out there on the dancefloor. You have to talk to him.”
“Nuh uh.”
“Yuh huh--oh, look!” Patton pointed out the window at Roman and Logan passing by. “It’s showtime, Virgil! You’ve got this.”
“Yeah! I can do this.” Virgil reached over to open the door, but he whipped around again. “Wait, you know what? Let’s get some food first.”
“Yeah, no,” Patton deadpanned.
“Fuck, fine!” Virgil rushed out of the van before he chickened out and walked over to Logan’s car. “Hey, Logan. I need to tell you something really important.”
“Oh!” Logan smiled charmingly, and damn this stupid crush that Virgil had. “Hello. You work for Dominic, correct?”
“What? No! That’s not what--”
Roman, from the other side of the car, giggled. “You had shrimp in your hair.”
Virgil glared at him. “Well, I mean Yeah, that was me, but that isn’t what I wanted to say.” He took a deep breath. “I’m--”
“Oh my god!” Logan threw his hands in the air in frustration. “Seriously? Dominic is relentless. First Toby, then Ember, and now you, too?” He ran his hands through his hair and sighed. “Just… I’m looking for someone, okay? I don’t have time to talk. Especially not about that stupid duet. I’ve gotta go… It was nice seeing you.”
Roman and Logan sat in their seats, and Virgil took a few steps back as they pulled out. He watched them for a few seconds before racing back to Patton’s van. Without hesitation, he whipped open the door and grabbed his back and skateboard from the floor.
“I told you, Pat.”
“Oh my god, he blew you off!”
Virgil sighed and backed away a bit. “Whatever.” He slammed the door shut and skated off, ignoring the tears that fell down his cheeks.

Survey #211
"i was told when i get older all my fears would shrink, but now i'm insecure and i care what people think."
What is your favorite time of day? Morning. What is your third favorite color? Ummm maybe peach. Do you care what others think of you? In most contexts, very much so. How would you dress, if you were the opposite sex? Same style I do now, really. Though not tank tops and dance pants; I'm sure I'd mostly wear loose band or graphic tees and sweatpants. Can you remember your first phone? If so, what kind was it? I think I might? I believe it was a blue one where the keyboard slides out from the bottom. Small and square-ish. What do you do to maintain your eyebrows? Nothing. What was the naughtiest thing you did when you were a child? I bit my sister's back so hard that I made her bleed, lmao. Sorry Ash. What, in your opinion, is the most thirst-quenching drink? COLD WATER. Who is your favorite character from Alice in Wonderland? Cheshire cat. Name the closest body of water to where you live: Atlantic Ocean. What do you like to put on toast? Light layer of butter and then cinnamon and sugar. The true cinnamon toast. Do you like art? Of course. How about theater? I don't have too much of an opinion... other than it has potential to be incredibly cheesy. Have you ever made breakfast for someone? Yes. Do you talk to your crush? If you have one. She's way more than that, and we talk every day. If yes, what do you usually talk about? Loads of stuff. What was the last thing you bought? With my own money, I don't have a clue. Have you ever been considered popular? No. Your signature perfume? I don't have one. Favorite undersea creature? Sea turtles, seahorses, jellyfish... Describe your room with just 5 words. Small, crowded, zoo, artsy, and... idk. Favorite type of chocolate? Milk. What types of things would you plant in a garden? If I actually wanted one, lots of flowers. Maybe tomatoes because fresh tomatoes + bacon and mayonnaise sandwiches are fucking incredible. Favorite attraction at a carnival? Ferris wheel. What toys did you play with as a child? Plastic animals, Pokemon figures, and stuffed animals were common. Oh yeah, I loved Lincoln Logs too. What types of music do you listen to? Various kinds of metal and rock as well as indie. What, without fail, makes you cry? Mufasa dying lmao. What makes a movie really enjoyable for you? A cool plot. Usually fantasy elements. Favorite way to decorate a cake? *shrugs* What gift(s) did you get for your birthday last year? I don't remember. What do you daydream about the most? My future. Name a game you are really good at. Shadow of the Colossus probably, but considering how infrequently I play games now, I'm sure I'm nowhere near as good as I used to be. Whenever I get a PS4 and the remake tho, I'm getting that goddamn white Agro. I never did the timed challenges before, but I think I could do it. What kinds of snacks do you munch on? I don't really have snacks anymore; I try to keep them out of the house so I'm not tempted. If anything though, it'll probably be some kind of chip. What emotionally exhausts you? Socializing. What accessories would come with a doll version of you? A laptop, iPod, and medication lmao. Favorite thing to do when it’s night time? Sleep? I've sure grown into a fun person. How do you like to bathe/shower? With hot-ish water. The most childish part of your personality? I absolutely hate chores. Favorite type of fantasy creature? Dragons. Do your arms move when you walk? I... actually don't know and can't even visualize how I walk right now. Favorite photo search engine? Google. Are there such things as stupid questions? Depends on your age and some other factors, I guess. Do you celebrate April Fools Day? No. I hate it, honestly. Do you doggie paddle or actually swim in a pool? Both. How do you cure boredom? I'd love to fucking know. I'm always bored. Ankle socks or knee-highs? Ankle socks. Do you know how military time works? Yes, but I can't comprehend the time immediately if it's passed 12. What’s your daily routine? Wake up, check the time, use the bathroom, have breakfast, feed my cat, sit on the laptop doing nothing, maybe or maybe not have a nap at some point, shower if I need to whatever time I feel like, also brush my teeth at some random point during the day (unless I have to go somewhere; then I'll do it before I leave), eat dinner, feed the other pets, and go to bed. Did you get in trouble for cussing on accident when you were a kid? I literally yelled "HOLY SHIT, I THINK I SEE A SHARK!" when we were all in the car driving over a bridge and I swear I saw a fin in the water, lmao. Mom was. Not happy. Ever made a snow angel? Yes. Are you short or tall for your age? I'm average. At what age did you learn the Pledge of Allegiance? Idk, early elementary school. What’s the longest you’ve gone without food? When my appetite was like non-existent and I lost a shitload of weight, I think I almost went a full 24 hours. What do you think about most? What's stressing me out. Are you honestly a good person? I don't think I'm a bad one. Where would you like to be buried? I'd rather be cremated. Do you use Bing or Google? Google. Last song you listened to? "Damage" by Fit For Rivals. What was the last movie you saw in theaters? Detective Pikachu. What is ONE thing your fridge or pantry ALWAYS needs? My day will feel so off if I don't have one Mtn. Dew Voltage. Do you believe more in luck or hard work? That's a good question. Sometimes you can work your ass off and yet reap inadequate - or any - rewards, while some people pick up a lottery ticket once in their life and are suddenly a millionaire. Life's not fair, kids. But I like to think hard work usually prevails. Do you have any metal on or in your body right now? Piercings. What is your favorite thing to eat with dip? Plain chips with sour cream dip... yum. No. Is there someone you always, secretly hope will talk to you? It's not a secret that I want to talk to Jason ONE last time to apologize on MY end. What was your first favorite band? Backstreet Boys. Are you friends with any bands? A local band, yeah; their guitarist is an old friend. Do you stay up ridiculously late for no reason? Very very rarely now. What’s your life motto? Idk, I've never really thought about it. Last year for school, we had an assignment where we had to choose a popular song to write a story based on. What song would you’ve picked? A popular song? Oh boy, idk. I don't really know what's popular that I like... Well, guess I'll think of old songs I know were. Um... Oh well I love writing sad shit, so maybe "Runaway Love" by Ludacris ft. Mary J. Blige. I already had an RP plot that was kinda inspired by it lmao. Do you like 3OH!3? No. Anyone’s grave you visit, regularly? No. Who was your first kiss? First person who kissed me was Juan, first mutual kiss (which I consider my "real" first) was with Jason. What was it like? Were you disappointed? Juan's kiss I didn't want, and it made me confused at the time. I had no clue how I felt about him back then. With Jason, it was incredibly sweet. I was lucky to get like a fairy tale one and not a horribly awkward memory lmao. Do you have an older brother? If so, what’s he like? Yeah. He's super super intelligent and a deep thinker. Very mature and has a great sense of humor. Are you confident? hunty- Have you ever begged someone to stay with you? Yes. Who do you want around you when you’re afraid? More than anyone, Mom. Had separation anxiety as a kid, obviously grew out of it, but if I'm seriously scared, I want my mom's presence. Do you agree with the saying ‘distance makes the heart grow fonder?’ With my experience with Sara, yes. Do you know any transgender people? I don't think I even taste the difference. Have you ever written a special note in a book? Yeah, I did in a book Jason lent me. Turns out it's a bad idea to write in pen a lil love letter on the back of the front cover to a book that was also for collection purposes lmao, but he wasn't mad. Would you rather have a house exterior made from wood, brick, or stucco? I like wood aesthetically, but I think eliminating wood housing would be a good idea, so brick. Brick also makes me feel safer. What is your favorite candy bar? Those big rectangle Reese's ones with individual blocks. I fucking love them. Have you ever thrown up in public? If you intend to get married, what are you looking forward to/dreading about wedding planning? > Bad jokes, Bad Times, Bad understanding of computers, Good Talk
palteringcecutiency Would it satisfy your curiosity to know that a majority of said jokes are indeed morbid in nature, and more than likely not to your liking? caepaecaesurae I suppose it wvould. I'vwe a decent resistance to some morbid jokes, but a bit of a wveakness to others. palteringcecutiency I don't believe any would stray into your weaknesses, but there are not many who get the darker areas of my humor, nor laugh instead of fuss and worry. caepaecaesurae .. I accidentally startled the hell out of Nadaya recently wvhen he wvandered too deeply into one of my tags.
caepaecaesurae My terrible fashion tag contains this post, from before our revwivwal : http://caepaecaesurae.tumblr.com/post/55680186325/devotedharlequin-eeeee-3-3-my-ghb-and-his caepaecaesurae Also knowvn as the period in wvhich Arlequin and I wvere still insane ghosts. I wvent back and tagged it manually though. WVith the fashion forwvard bit at least. palteringcecutiency Lord, and I thought my time in the bubbles was questionable. Congratulations, you two win on most gruesome fashion accessorizing, and will be holding that for quite a number of sweeps, unless someone spares a corpse and a distraction for the fussers for a while. caepaecaesurae He thought it wvas vwery funny at the time. I, somewvhat less. Anywvays, savwing That in my fashion tag is my idea of a morbid joke. palteringcecutiency Quite understandable, I consider myself lucky that I have absolutely no clue what happened to my corpse, and have no desire to find out. ...a great deal of my morbid jokes are helming based, or rather death based I suppose I would call it. If you spend long enough waiting for death, it stops being such a serious subject, I suppose. palteringcecutiency At least it has for me. caepaecaesurae There wvas a time wvhen I tried helming jokes to get a rise out of people.  I'vwe stopped, since.  I think Sparks still hasn't forgivwen me for one of them. My death wvas a sore topic for the longest time, since it wvas both unwvanted and early.  I felt as though my potential to become or do anything had been stolen from me, I suppose. I'm not entirely sure wvhen I managed to start taking it wvith a grain of salt. Perhaps wvhen Arlequin and I buried the hatchet, so to speak, and squared up matters. palteringcecutiency ...potential being stolen I am quite familiar with. ...and I admit some envy at your hatchet burying, though I do not believe I would do it if the opportunity was presented. But helming jokes always pique interest, pray tell, however did you offend Artiifex? caepaecaesurae I think I'll forevwer owve you apologies for stolen potentials.  One of the fewv upsides to the honorbound rigidity wvith wvhich both Arlequin and I are plagued is that it offers vwery clear resolutions to some issues, if one holds traditions close enough to heart. There wvas a time wvhen his cut hair and metal hand filled me wvith a spiteful peace, though it's finally wvearing through to something more apologetic. ... Are you absolutely sure you wvant to hear an offensivwe helming joke? caepaecaesurae It's not evwen particularly clevwer, and the punchline is that helming is unpleasant. palteringcecutiency Tch. It was not you who stole my potential, I got away from /you/. ...though I admit curiosity for a moment for your dusty traditions: if you were in my place, what would you demand of Her? Or yourself, or Makara? Cronus, I absolutely doubt you could offend me about helming. I give you full permission to tell me without consequence, and you can screenshot this if you must. caepaecaesurae I suppose it depends wvhat crimes you hoped to erase, wvith Her or Makara.  I suspect I'd take a fewv pieces off of her so her ghost wvould lack them and kill her flat out. Hands come to mind. palteringcecutiency I'd hardly think that would be effective, I didn't have mine for millennia and I was just fine. caepaecaesurae She could probably use an eternity wvith a set of nubs. You'd be surprised howv attached most people are to those things. Imagine the wvhining. "Someone, refill my glass" caepaecaesurae "Anyone" "Where is everybody" "Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh" palteringcecutiency Her whining is rather enjoyable from a distance, I must say. caepaecaesurae ... So, I wvas in my Orphaner phase, wvithout any Beforan memories, and wvith sevweral centuries of solitude under my belt and a tendency to push people awvay on purpose.  If they Could be offended, after all, may as wvell get it ovwer wvith. So in a group chat, I made a fewv comments including the wvords "vwroom vwroom" at some helmsmen. Sparks told me that wvas inappropriate, and so I apologized... ..and in that apology, I promised not to make any further sarcastic engine noises -- like "help" or "please". ... And then he banned me from that chat. palteringcecutiency ...oh my god. palteringcecutiency That is absolutely beautiful. God, I have nowhere to use it but fuck if I want to find one. caepaecaesurae I'm glad, if bemused, that you approvwe. palteringcecutiency More than approve, that's absolutely hilarious. Awful, terrible, you probably deserved the ban but /hilarious/. caepaecaesurae Oh, I knowv I deservwed the ban, I had to apologize on and off for nights and I still need to apologize occasionally. palteringcecutiency Yes, of that I have no doubt. Artiifex does not seem to have that particular area of humor, thank god. caepaecaesurae "Howv many pilots does it take to ____", "One, evwery fewv hundred thousand miles" caepaecaesurae ... I'm glad he doesn't.  Grim humor is its owvn art, but not evweryone needs the perspectivwe that allowvs one to appreciate it. palteringcecutiency "Why did the engineers have to patch the security on their own?" "The helmsman had their hands full with the rest of the system." ...I agree, the fewer who understand and the more who get angry is far better for everyone. caepaecaesurae ...Fuck, that's a sharp one, isn't it? Good showv. palteringcecutiency c; caepaecaesurae I'm impressed, I'll remember that one. palteringcecutiency In the beginning, it was my favorite thing to tell Her when She wanted me to do something. "I'm ever so sorry, I've my hands full with" whatever boring background routine I was processing at the time, as technically said as possible so She lost interest quickly. I'd ask you to refrain from sharing with him, but occasionally Kankri sets up opportunities as well and I cannot help myself. caepaecaesurae Sensible. I'll try not to share in any context that wvould make him sad. palteringcecutiency Thank you, it is appreciated. ...he worries so much about me as is, I do not want to cause him more with a misunderstanding. But it was fucking hilarious to watch her be so unaware of her own ship's systems that I could convince her I was completely occupied by keeping track of time, for example. palteringcecutiency [[ Her** x2 ]] caepaecaesurae I used the oblivious highblood routine myself on occasion, to convwince others not to bother me wvith things I didn't care about. palteringcecutiency I have no doubt, it's a handy trick to use, and even handier to take advantage of. caepaecaesurae "Handy" indeed. Did she evwer notice the pun? palteringcecutiency ...it was not so much that She noticed that pun in specific, or any of them really. It was more She noticed my general... attitude, and found it... lacking, especially in respect. And then She fixed it, so it was no longer a problem. palteringcecutiency There was a while though, that she thought I was obedient and faithful. That was a great deal of fun. c: caepaecaesurae Perhaps there's something fitting in the fact that she, immortal queen of life, is the only troll denied this wvorld. ..I'm glad only her Beforan half exists. caepaecaesurae I'm glad you had fun mocking and toying wvith her. I'm sure you used it to its fullest. (( *used the opportunity )) palteringcecutiency Of course. c: I gummed up so many of Her works, and I /know/ She did not discover them all, that quite a few were still active when the Empire died. A quiet double bird lingering in the distance. caepaecaesurae Hah!  Good. Not so good for Empire, and I hope you didn't harass too many undeservwing trolls wvhile you wvere at it, but.. Good. WVhat sorts of things did you leavwe behind? palteringcecutiency I am very unsure who was undeserving at that point, and god knows some of my actions reached others. ...my favorite was creating a private, secured chat room for helmsmen, after they'd put enough security measures in that I was forced to leave them alone from direct action. caepaecaesurae Across the fleet, or in your ship?  If there wvere others. ..Either wvay, good showv. palteringcecutiency Across the fleet. c: There were no others in the Battleship with me, they could put in enough securities to keep my claws out of other ships' helmsmen eventually, but the Battleship was mine, and my reach was everywhere. caepaecaesurae The ability to speak to others is... important.  I'm glad you could givwe them that. palteringcecutiency So very important. I... could not help, after a while, but they could help each other, or at least listen and understand. caepaecaesurae You helped, by movwing things into place so that those wvho could act had the resources to do so.  WVithin their limits. palteringcecutiency It's my favorite for a reason. c: caepaecaesurae I'd be proud if I managed it too, especially if it stayed secret all that long. Or in action despite a lack of secrecy. palteringcecutiency It was most definitely secret, She would not have suffered Her engines retaining their trollhood, and even less the talk of rebellion that came to the surface from time to time. I hid it far too well and secured it even moreso, and the others grew into their own moderators in my absence. Not every helmsman got in. Quite a few were loyal to the Empire, or loyal enough. palteringcecutiency Some were batshit already and could not be trusted with such a secret, nor honestly contribute much. palteringcecutiency ...some end up husks, with no one hive. It took some sussing out, but if one read between the lines in reports, it could be figured out. caepaecaesurae Fair, if unfortunate. Did you?  Or did she miss a fewv spots? palteringcecutiency Unfortunately no, I was still quite aware, though I cannot say I was hive often. Makara apparently thought I did after a while, but I was spending most of my time out of my meat and in the system instead. caepaecaesurae WVas there much to explore, in the system? palteringcecutiency Yes and no. There were updates constantly, input added and deleted, the whole thing a shifting creature of sorts. But I spent two thousand sweeps in that ship, I know it better than I know myself. Surprises stopped coming after a while. palteringcecutiency Being the ship had its advantages over being meat, however, and it was far easier to watch the crew if you didn't have the wetware's resistance to seeing through cameras. caepaecaesurae Wetware? palteringcecutiency Ah, pardon, the helming term for my body. Hardware is the metal machine parts, bioware the organic ones, software is the code, wetware is the troll. palteringcecutiency I cannot even remember if it was the official name, but it's what it was called. palteringcecutiency It was easier for engineers to call it euphemisms than acknowledge the fact that they'd grafted a person to a system. caepaecaesurae Euphemisms -- and the lack thereof -- are an underappreciated wveapon. The body has some resistance to wvatching through cameras? palteringcecutiency It does. A vast majority of trolls are biologically designed to handle two visual inputs, or two eyes. It's how we're wired as a species, it's how our pans work. There are /thousands/ of cameras on a ship, let alone on a ship the size of the Battleship, and the pan wants nothing to do with that. caepaecaesurae ..Ah. Ah, I see. Yes, that wvould be disorienting. ... I can access the internet wvith my mind, nowv.  For some fool reason. caepaecaesurae I can't See any of it though.  I keep havwing to display it on a screen. On an object around me. I can't seem to manage it internally. palteringcecutiency Your godhood, I assume? Unless you've been grubnapped and fitted with Mm. Probably should not help. caepaecaesurae Godtier, aye. No? palteringcecutiency With spelling out what cybernetics you'd need. God knows you'd hope them into existence by accident. ...using your pan to access technology, yes, I could help with that, if you want it. caepaecaesurae Tsk.  I'vwe enough familiarity wvith howv I wvork not to imagine myself into anything I can't imagine my wvay back out of.  One of the fewv things I learned in the bubbles. caepaecaesurae ... I wvouldn't mind the advwice, if you don't mind givwing it.  It sounds like you havwe a perspectivwe I lack. Unsurprisingly. palteringcecutiency I certainly have that, yes. c: palteringcecutiency I would be hesitant to call any data I viewed as being 'on a screen,' that is far too static and unmalleable, like a projection on a wall across the block. caepaecaesurae Literally something I do. palteringcecutiency Most likely because that is how you are used to interacting with computers. They've, until now, been separate from you, and of course you'd continue thinking of them as separate. I do not recommend changing that but merely... blurring the lines a little more than you already have. Think of the internet as a stream, and instead of pulling up a web page to plaster on a wall, reach in and catch a fish of information. palteringcecutiency If you catch enough fish, you can put them together to /understand/ the web page, rather than just /see/ it. palteringcecutiency With understanding, comes the ability to mentally imagine the page as it would appear on a computer. Just taking out the computer part. caepaecaesurae I havwe the added exciting issue of "Howv do I knowv I'm getting the correct information, and not my imagination" caepaecaesurae I'm..  Occasionally fighting that still, evwen wvith the "functional" (?) imaginary computer. palteringcecutiency Hm. That is certainly a challenge I never had to face. And I suppose if you're struggling with this, you do not know very much coding. caepaecaesurae WVould you like me to image search a hacker gif from a movwie, because I'm sure I can find one that wvould make you wvince. Coding makes things, and you click on the things, and they wvork.  And that's as invwolvwed as I get. palteringcecutiency Oh good lord. caepaecaesurae I can hack things by imagining that they givwe me the "Okay, you gavwe the right passwvord" prompt instead of the one they're supposed to. WVhich, wvhile handy, is not... I'm not techy.  That's wvhat I'm saying here. palteringcecutiency I've picked up that subtle hint I believe. palteringcecutiency Lord, and I thought the fish metaphor was dumbing it down to troll level. palteringcecutiency The easiest solution I can come up with right now is 'learn code first' followed by /maybe/ 'trial and error with a real computer nearby to check against' but caepaecaesurae I understood the metaphor, I'm just not sure if that step is wvithin reach. ..Also, the computer wvill say wvhatevwer I expect it to say, wvhich is howv I got into this problem in the first place. palteringcecutiency ...that seems. Extremely unsettling. caepaecaesurae WVelcome to my life. caepaecaesurae Ask Sparks about tech support on my tablet sometime. palteringcecutiency I'm rather sure anything I'd say you are already firmly aware of. I'm not sure my curiosity outweighs my cringing horror. caepaecaesurae So, to vwiewv a wvebpage, you'd...  pull up the background color, and the text in any boxes, and the pictures, and just hold them all separately in mind? caepaecaesurae Howv do you knowv wvhen you'vwe gotten the entire thing? palteringcecutiency You could, and I certainly would, and I might not even bother with some of it depending on what I was there for. God, how do I describe this. caepaecaesurae Precisely my question. palteringcecutiency The code of a web page is like a list of instructions on how to build it. It tells you precisely everything, from what size the font is, to how big the margins are, to colors and shapes and where the pictures are and where they're from. Every single detail, spelled out at length. caepaecaesurae And howv do you knowv if, say, the middle third of the page is missing? palteringcecutiency It'd turn into a jumbled disaster of garbage. Code is not written in order, "first you paint the background #6a006a, and on top of that you put text boxes 500 px wide by 300 px tall..." If they were, dumping out the middle third would get you missing pictures, or missing header changes, or god knows what. No, code is nesting and segmented and arranged in either a specific order it needs to be in or at the whim of the coder. Missing the middle third might eliminate all the font. Or leave everything fine but the containers the posts are in. Links might not work. Icons might be gone. Probably all of them at once, if I am honest. caepaecaesurae That sounds dreadfully exciting. So it's all inter-related and things don't spontaneously go missing. It's all or nothing. palteringcecutiency Unfortunately yes. Even if one line goes missing, things explode into nonsense. caepaecaesurae So howv does one reach in and grab just a small piece? palteringcecutiency In your case, I wouldn't advise it. I would have you aim for the big fish with the entire list on it until you get adjusted to doing that, as much as you can with the metaphor falling apart. caepaecaesurae So... Just try to grab the webpage and put the entire thing in my pan. And poke at bits of it. And see wvhat happens. palteringcecutiency A lot of trolls learn html that way, albeit without the pan part. caepaecaesurae Html? palteringcecutiency The name of the coding language typically used for the internet. caepaecaesurae Ah, I see. palteringcecutiency If you go onto a new post on Tumblr, and click on the gear on the upper right corner, there is a thing that has a dropdown list next to a 'text editor' label. One of the things is HTML, which lets you look at your post's code before you post it, and also tinker with it if necessary. caepaecaesurae WVhat's  ? I'm seeing a lot of <p> and <br> and </p> caepaecaesurae The internet says something about non-breaking space. WVhat's a breaking space? caepaecaesurae WVait, no, I found it. ....That's almost clevwer. caepaecaesurae Of course typesetting wvould be invwolvwed. palteringcecutiency Of course, why wouldn't it be? Text on a website needs to look just as nice as text in a book or on newsprint. caepaecaesurae And all the differences are invwisible to the reader. palteringcecutiency To the average reader, yes. To those who know what is going on behind the scenes, you can spot these things when they are or, more often, aren't there. caepaecaesurae Hm. palteringcecutiency If you have more questions, you can leave them here, but I am going to sleep. caepaecaesurae Rest wvell, and..thank you for talking. I appreciate it. palteringcecutiency ...and I appreciate someone to listen, quite a lot. So thank you in return. caepaecaesurae They are in short supply sometimes.  ....Anytime, chief. palteringcecutiency Sleep well when you get there, Cronus. c: caepaecaesurae And you, Mituna.  Until next wve meet.
