I have a question, before I ask I want to be clear that I mean absolutely no offence with this.

My question is this: I am sighted and have never met nor written a blind character before, but if I were to include one in my writing, would it be practical to allow the white cane to be temporarily transformed into a weapon (either with a button in sci-fi, or magic in a fantasy world)

like I’m thinking something similar to the goth girl books have “umbrella fencing” where a sharp end piece is fastened to an umbrella,

but these are two very different things. So I was wondering if someone more knowledgeable could tell me weather it would be practical or offensive?

Again no hate I’m just trying to learn without anyone in my life I could realistically ask about this topic

Hey so I’m trying to find a fic i read a few years ago and am having a lot of trouble. I would be super grateful if anyone could help me find it!

Its been a while but here’s what I do remember: It’s a post-mockingjay (pre-epilogue) fic either entirely or largely from Haymitch’s pov about the kids, mostly Katniss trying to heal. Haymitch is taking care of Katniss in d12 and trying very hard to keep her alive, because she very much does not want to be. I think it’s a somewhat longer (at least 15k, but probs more) fic. And there’s something about Haymitch making a book or journal entry or something for everyone he cared about who died. At some point Katniss finds the books (there’s one for Peeta, even tho Peeta is still alive) and doesn’t understand why there isn’t one for her. That’s kinda all I remember for sure. Oh and I read it on fanfiction.net

So I’m obsessed with the idea of a Mia game. I know it’s very unlikely to ever happen but one can dream. I adore the concept, but something I’ve always wondered is what would actually be the point ? Because we know Mia’s story and the story surrounding her. There isn’t much left to explore, right ? We know what her life story is, we know the Fey lore, etc.

But then I thought, that’s on the assumption that this hypothetical game is… only played when she’s alive.

This is just a ramble post not a serious analysis so this is gonna be messy, but bear with me. I think it could be very interesting for a Mia game to have sections from when she was alive and sections after her death. It could explore her character in more depth, seeing how she was as a living person in more detail and how she dealt with her own death, and also the grief her death caused to other characters. Something I’ve seen a lot of people talk about is how they wish Phoenix and Maya’s grief was explored more thoroughly, and this could be an opportunity for that. There could be scenes of Phoenix talking with us while Maya is channeling us outside of court, seeing through Mia’s eyes their reactions to her corpse, scenes of Mia and Maya communicating with their “writing on a notepad” technique, etc.

Now how would the death sections play ? Honestly I have no idea. As I said I’m just putting ideas down instead of thinking through the millions of factors involved in game design. Maybe it could be like investigation sections, where you listen in on conversations of relevant characters as a ghost and investigate the crime scene without being hindered by the police, since they obviously don’t know you’re there, then throw hints at the defence during trials ? There could be a mechanic of having to signal which evidence to look for, like subtly moving evidence on the desk so the relevant ones are most visible for the lawyer to notice. With ghost powers. Idk how ghosts would function in the ace attorney universe but hey this could be an occasion to explore that too.

I’m saying “lawyer” instead of just Phoenix because honestly idk how you could have Mia help Phoenix in new cases without messing with the trilogy story, so maybe it could be a new lawyer. Again i’m just spitballing here

i have a question for the poly side of tumblr lol

i’ve had two experiences w poly people that have…confused me. i’m wondering if this is normal behavior in polyamorous relationships/adding new partners to a current polycule.

first experience was with a married couple, a man and a woman. i met the woman on a dating app, she was looking for a partner for herself but her husband was open to meeting any new partner with the possibility of him being involved if things went well.

i met up with both of them at the same time and during the date, i learned that the husband had another partner (f) out of state. there was some nasty jealously involved there that did raise a red flag. i also learned that they both shared another partner (m) who they were roommates with. they didn’t have many good things to tell about him though and implied that he imposed himself into the relationship and they allowed it out of pity.

thinking back on it, is it normal to not tell me about the other partners? i was under the impression it was just the two of them up until the point they told me it wasn’t.

second experience was from a different dating app lol this guy had no indication on his profile of being poly. we got along well and were talking for awhile. we exchanged twitters and that’s where i learned he was poly, as he had it in his bio.

again, i was under the impression he was currently single. i didn’t ask about his bio, which is my fault. but i started getting suspicious, i’m not even sure why. i asked him if he was talking to anyone else. he said he was, is that okay?

i didn’t feel good about it, thinking it was another person from the app. which i felt i couldn’t be upset about because we weren’t exclusive.

i truly got upset when he told me it was actually his girlfriend and that they had been together long before he and i started talking.

i felt like i was “the other person,” the one he was using to cheat on his girlfriend with. maybe that wasn’t the case, maybe she was okay with it and knew about me. but at the time i felt like a dirty secret and that i wasn’t deserving of knowing of his primary partner.

things could have turned out way differently if he had just been open about it from the start. i would’ve had no problem whatsoever.

needless to say, never spoke to him again lol

again, i ask, is this normal behavior?

i would assume that you would lay all your cards on the table when meeting someone of potential interest. i am poly, i have a husband and a boyfriend. are you okay with that?

i don’t know if i’m being weird or expecting too much. i would like to know anyone’s thoughts on this because i would really like to learn from these experiences and avoid repeats, if i can help it. because i didn’t like how these things were handled and that is not what i want for myself and any relationship i’m involved in.

Dog coded in the sense that I have a very good sense of smell and in turn am very good at remembering smells and like associating them with memories/moments/people. It’s kinda embarrassing lowkey. Like I get the big sad™️ and a certain smells will just calm me down. When a smell like that fades from whatever item I was using to like get that smell it makes me really sad. Like after my partner returns a sweatshirt and his smell is just missing from it after a week. Or like when the smell of a person’s perfume fades from my car. Sometimes I get excited to like learn new smells. Like there something new I can associate with a person or place that is grounding for me. I have a hard time with faces and names. But smells? I remember scent so vividly it’s honestly startling. It just feels weird to like the way people smell. Like admitting that out loud makes me some kind of freak (I mean I am but yk) gah I just want to be engulfed by the scents that make me feel at home. Because I’ve never really truly had a home. Always a house.

Funniest bit of the dnd movie is Xenk clearly being an NPC the DM introduced for lore and plot purposes who’s a competent fighter because of course he is, his reputation and backstory require it. But whoopsies the DM made him too powerful, the whole party likes him, and now they want him to come with to fight the BBEG which will completely and utterly fuck up the encounter balance

So instead of there being any actual plot reason he can’t join Xenk just says “I can’t. This is something only you can do.” And then walks off, never to interact with the party again because the DM just knows those little shits will find a way to use their OP creation against them
