Your explanations of the Jedi and their teachings have really helped me understand them better and hopefully - in the future - write my own stories about them better.

I do have a what if question for you. I like Luke in the original trilogy. The more recent characterizations of him have felt off to me. Not sure why. But that is not where I'm going with this - I'm playing around with an AU where Luke falls to the dark side. Given the context of the original trilogy, how or where within the original trilogy do you think that would that happen?

I would say, it could've happened between Episode V and Episode VI. Luke's biggest problem was that he had to understand, what he resents in Darth Vader is also within himself, that's what his vision in the cave on Dagobah symbolized. He viewed Darth Vader as a wicked monster who killed his father, he was afraid of him, he was angry at him, he hated him. And he could've reacted to Vader being his father very differently. There was a real risk that he reacts badly, Yoda explicitly said, he wasn't ready for this burden.

If Luke would've become terrified by the fact that just like his heroic, Jedi Knight father turned into this horrible monster, he also carries the potential to become something like him, without the right and deep understanding of what this means for good and evil, he would easily fall into a dark place, where he could feel comfortable and secure in his own goodness only by attacking and destroying the evil outside him, which is Darth Vader, of course. His fear of turning into his father would feed into being angry at his father and eventually hating him, wanting to erase him from his life. He would be like "I will kill Vader, this vicious monster, that's what the good guy does, right? No way I end up being like him if I save the galaxy from him!" Which would make things worse, as he would actively try to repeat what he did in the cave on Dagobah. In addition, his anxiousness would make him less confident and prone to violently lashing out, especially if him desperately wanting to confront Darth Vader wouldn't meet with Leia and the other's approval, for obvious reasons, which would make him even more anxious, more aggressive, and so on, until he would decide to leave on his own. And in my mind, this is the point when Darth Sidious would reach out to him, saying, he can train him to kill Vader. And Luke would end up in the same mindset as Anakin in Episode III: "I will be more powerful than Vader and the Emperor, I will kill Vader and I will overthrow the Emperor and I will make this galaxy a safe, just and secure place... which makes me a good guy!"

This would result in three Sith Lords at the beginning of Episode VI, and maybe the Rebellion would decide, the critical error they can exploit is the fact that there is an infighting between Vader and the Emperor, who is aided by his new apprentice.

oh, but imagining the potential for warmth and also perhaps some humor in the scenario that misao decides she wants to try to cook something for someone she loves while they're over is currently making my heart happy. like i'm not going to lie — misao has honestly not cooked a day in her life since she just simply never had the need to, being a jorōgumo and all, but she would want to at least try to show she cares for them by attempting to cook their favorite dish or something whenever they're over at her home. and this would still apply to her even if she ended up completely failing at it at first because one of misao's love languages is acts of service. thus, of course she would want to provide them with something as integral as food. but GAHHH, picturing it from misao's loved ones perspective is also equally as sweet to me, because them guiding her on what to do while reassuring her that it's okay? and them eventually just deciding to cook together because misao may or may not get overwhelmed by the fact that she has such little knowledge about what to do because she wants everything to be perfect is... idk. it can be either incredibly romantic, or make for a very wholesome platonic moment between her and another character, which i LOVE

Tbh I thought the idea was a natural evolution to his character in this au, since Descole is generally off the table, the private investigator element kind of allows traits of Descole to… carry on if that makes sense?

He still gets to be dramatic about things and work himself into whack situations and all without the all consuming void of revenge, wow! It also gives me an excuse to properly put Targent back on Des’ radar but from a different angle.

Other than that I think he would just enjoy solving cases, sitting down and puzzling pieces together just is just something he’s good at.

I do not think people are understanding that for people in the Carolinas there was no naive and stupid choice to stay in the hurricane instead of evacuating, the Carolinas are regularly hit by hurricanes after they've tanked in severity, no one communicated to them that it was going to get this bad. This isn't "rich people from florida" beach house antics, these are overwhelmingly rural and poor areas full of people with no flood infrastructure, no warning, and nowhere to go. It is impossible to truly toll the death this has caused, hundreds of people are missing, emergency services are having to leave corpses behind because there are so many more living people to deal with. And this is the people who had homes, who had the physical ability to try to escape! Nobody told them this would happen. This is what it looks like to have no emergency weather preparedness, no warning, in terrain that will trap you where you are. This is the mountains we're talking about- All water flows straight into the river valleys where most people live, and seeking higher ground risks you mudslides and rock slides, the ground will fall out from underneath you. This is going to keep happening, and nobody is going to care until it's their problem- And then they're gonna ask why no one is helping.

A lot of places to donate are evangelical groups that will keep more of your money than distribute aid (all while using the disaster to recruit), if you are looking into an org to donate to PLEASE AVOID THESE, THEY ARE NOT GOING TO BE HELPFUL IN A DISASTER SCENARIO, ANY OTHER CHARITY IS PREFERABLE, they're rarely helpful to their community under normal circumstances. Seek out individual people in need to send aid directly if you can, I'm positive a lot of gofundmes will be popping up in the near future as cities begin to regain power, otherwise the Red Cross is always taking donations and has historically provided the most relief for natural disaster survivors, you can also donate to United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, an org run by officials in Asheville, which is one of the most immediately endangered areas of western NC and greatly in need of drinkable water.

I think we as a society need to be reminded how good the original Powerpuff Girls was. Here's some of my favorite things about it:

the fight scenes had a level of punchiness and impact that was rare for cartoons of the nineties, and fight scenes that were way better than what one would expect from a comedy

The character writing is so good that a large portion of the show's most iconic episodes consist of just showing how the girls' personalities react to different scenarios, for example in one episode the girls take turns recapping a fight that had just happened, and the tone and art style of the flashback changes depending on whose telling the story

One of the recurring extras is a talking dog that goes about it's day like a normal human

Each girl has mostly the same powers with one special ability that sets them apart. Blossom has ice breath. Bubbles can speak to squirrels and is also fluent in Spanish. Buttercup can curl her tongue.

while the majority of the show is lighthearted comedy sometimes it'll just decide to be nightmareworld for an episode and i think thats pretty cool

The show utilizes a blend of classic upa linework and sixties art deco shapism to create a visual style that is utterly timeless. If the majority of the show wasn't cell animated you would not be able to guess when it came out

The main villain's speaking patterns were directly inspired by The Super Dictionary. AKA, the same book that brought us this:

In the season one finale, the girls fight a giant monster using a mech suit. During the fight, there is a sequence that is literally just 20 uninterrupted seconds of an absurd amount of missiles coming out of every possible orifice of the robot. And then they miss.

There was an anime adaptation made in the 2000's and its actually pretty good, like it does take a lot of creative liberties but its clear that the people making it understood the spirit of the original show and were just adapting it to reflect japanese pop culture in the same way the og show reflected american pop culture.

The show had an insanely kickass soundtrack consisting of early techno so clean it's kind of shocking that it was made in the late nineties and not the early 2010's pre-dubstep era
