snow drabble :3
On an early December morning, my joints frigid with cold and my back aching, I came down to breakfast to spot my friend by the glazed and white window.
“Why, it is snowing!” I exclaimed with glee from over his shoulder. Indeed, the street outside had been verily blanketed in a porcelain, crisp layer. I observed the little flakes that were still falling as I more keenly adopted Holmes’s point of view. I could see two children running about, tucked to their chins with woollen layers, and leaving tiny footprints, deeper at the heels, in the sheet of merry precipitation.
Holmes gave some strange, noncommittal hum.
I replied carefully. “You know, most people enjoy seeing the snow.”
“I recall seeing the wonder in it when I was younger. Perhaps it has some uses in detecting crime.”
“Well,” I proposed as nonchalantly as I could. “Why don’t we go out and inspect its properties?”
He looked at me for a taut moment, and I almost thought he might decline. Then, without a word, Holmes went for the door and picked up his coat.
We had a wonderful day.

"Finally, it's finished!" Audrey let out a content sigh, holding up what she had just drawn.
In this work of art, the Ink Demon and his beloved Amaryllis were standing close together in the center of the room. She had one hand resting gently against his chest, and he had one resting against her waist. Their free hands were tenderly closed together as Amaryllis looked up at him, an affectionate and loving smile gracing her lips. However, the couple was not alone in this scene; Sammy Lawrence was off in the corner playing the piano, Alice Angel singing next to him with lost ones contently on instruments being conducted by Jack Fain. Others like Henry, Allison, and Tom were seated in another corner of the room while something resembling snowflakes fluttered through the air around them.
Setting her work down, Audrey knew she wanted to witness the outcome that she so lovingly crafted in her drawings, and luckily for her she had a way to enter the animated world whenever she so chose to, always wanting to ensure she was making the cycles better and giving everyone a better chance to truly live. As she entered, she was quiet, making her way over to an empty seat where the trio was seated watching what was transpiring in the center of the room.
Music filled the air, the gentle shuffling and clicking of feet barely heard beneath the gentle melody as the demon and his love swayed back and forth beneath twinkling lights and flakes of snow. Audrey had drawn it so that the Ink Demon didn't tower over Amaryllis as much, at least for this moment.
Amaryllis couldn't break her gaze away, the grinning demon's head tilted down to meet that gaze. The assumption from everyone was that the demon could not see when in fact he could, at least when it came to her, and she knew that. Their focus was on one another, and everyone around them didn't exist, not when the music enveloped and swirled around them.
The demon ran his thumb tenderly over the top of Amaryllis's hand before she gently turned her hand to slot her fingers between his. Her hands were still much smaller but that didn't stop the warmth that radiated from the contact. The hand she had placed against his chest moved, sliding in favour of wrapping her arm around his middle, her eyes slowly closing as she chose to rest her cheek where her hand once sat.
"I love you…" Her words came out as a whisper, but loud enough that only the demon would hear her.
Something like a purr combined with a growl left him as he held her tighter against himself. That was all Amaryllis needed to know that the Ink Demon loved her too.
Christmas in the studio was a strange phenomenon to most, but Audrey having experienced it as well as Amaryllis while she was still free, it was important to give everyone that time and chance to experience something good. With all the heartbreak and unhappy endings, it was finally time for something better, something worth living for; something where love was at the center of it all.
