A bit of vent art. That I can't post on my other socials cause I am followed by some (ex) party members and I don't want to make them feel bad. This is my blog so I can run my mouth as I want.
RIP El and Beth. I ended up quitting the Pathfinder: War for the Crown game due to some player drama, in that I can't stand Varris' player continuously ruining the vibes of sessions. Frankly I stopped drawing session moments because of his antics. Which is a real shame when there was some just golden moments.
I had been incredibly involved in the campaign: multiple RP threads, drawings, complex and intriguing personal story lines. I left off with El and Beth looking on how to break the Summoner/Eidolon bond. Trying to resurrect El's ghost daughter, we had just found a Shinigami to help detangle her soul from her living little sister's, Phephie (Spiritualist class thing). El figuring out she is polyamorous and in love with a party member, while being engaged to just the sweetest barbarian man. Helping her best friend figure out how to take down her Hag mother. Meanwhile looming in the background is the threat of her very controlling parents, looking to force her into strategic marriages.

There was a lot going on, WHILE, helping to put the Princess on the throne!! So I am going to miss it and miss the rest of the group.
I saw this trend with him all the way back towards the end of Call of Cthulhu: Masks of Nyarlathotep like 2.5 years ago, then it got worse during Pulp Cthulhu and then snowballed with the first book of War for the Crown. I was planning on being quiet and make it through the campaign before talking with the group about not wanting to game with him.
But two sessions ago he pulled some real Leroy Jenkins bullshit cause he was bored, because he rarely pays attention, gets confused, and then does something disruptive in character. Cause it is just so quirky! So I told the DM that I was finally getting fed up, and he said he'd talk to him within the two weeks before the next session. Well he didn't so this last session was my LAST session. Cause he did the exact same things that drive me fuck'n nuts.
The party doesn't want to give him the boot without giving him a chance to change his behaviours, which fair. I don't begrudge them that but I also don't have to endure him. So here I am typing this up as a way to mourn one of my most favourite gaming groups.
So now I guess I'll hyper fixate on a different or new OC. Sky's the limit!
I mean I still have my Monday game and in September the Delta Green stream game I am in will start back up. So like this is some tiny violin stuff.

Oh I just rewatched the series and I'm still mad we didn't get a second season. I really loved the characters and the humour of the show (I laughed an unreasonable amount about the Leroy Jenkins reference). Great to see I'm not the only one who misses the show and it's characters. It really was great!
I’ll always be mad we didn’t get a second season but I’m glad we got what we did. I know they almost didn’t get to finish season 1. me too, I’m glad they’re still people out there who love the show 15 years later

Because I am childish, I did a thing. My summer Covid binge watch has been Elena of Avalor, a fantasy about a mythical 19th century-ish Latin American kingdom. And I could (and sort of want to) talk about this show from an academic angle - debate the politics and discuss the historical antecedents of some of the storylines. But I am also a geek, and frankly am enjoying the adventure. So when someone on a discussion board posted a tiermaker template about our favorite characters I decided to play along. So without further ado, my top four favorite characters from the show: Esteban - the anti-villain and cousin to the heroine. He's smug, arrogant, annoying - and always rushes in to save the good guys. It happens so often that his partner in crime (my favorite villainess) keeps a running commentary. "Really?" "Again?" "Of course you save her." "Did you miss the part where they're trying to kill you?" She's not even surprised by it at this point. Plus Esteban has a tragic back-story, and I love that 50-somethings get to have adventures. Elena - the 19-year-old heroine (16 at the start of the show) who will be crowned queen when she's 20 - if she survives the prophesy of darkness that threatens her realm. Her three main characteristics are empathy, responsibility, and a belief in the power of going full-on Leroy Jenkins. She is truly heroic, but also deeply flawed, making her a very three-dimensional character. Mateo - the 17-year-old royal wizard, basically because the evil sorceress who was defeated at the start of the show had killed or banished all wizards, and Mateo had studied magic in secret, so he's all that's left. The show does a great job with slooooly leveling Mateo up. He is the kindest wizard I've ever seen, and the stand-in for bookish geeks. Naomi - Elena's best friend. I love her commitment to the truth and relentless honesty. (She's the one who calls others out on on their actions.) I also appreciate her self-doubt in her own worth and abilities and her growing confidence over the years. She's a fascinating character in her own right. It's a fun show (and there are only two episodes left!) Can you tell I'm a fan?

I have not stopped thinking about this btw. Like first of all it is also making me miss playing WoW. But second of all I love that it works so well for each of them? I agree with your assessment on Lizzy, I think she would make a FANTASTIC rogue, but the lure of the paladin aesthetic and the helping out Sieglinde with healz is SO strong. And Sieglinde would have a fanatical obsession with traveling and meeting other druids, I just know it. That girlie is gonna develop her OWN wolf form by meeting a new god in a dungeon somewhere, mark my words!!!
Meanwhile Mey Rin has a pet because it's expected of her but it's something utterly useless in combat and also something most people find sort of gross or creepy (thinking about her obsession with vampires and mummies) - like maybe a plague maggot or a zombie wolf pup or something. It rides around in her adventuring rucksack and she spoils it and it never fights.
Ran Mao ended up DPSing because Grell was the last to join the crew and they were like thank god we can stop watching ranmao leroy jenkins us to death over and over. As our tank. She still doesn't QUITE understand how the new role works, but they did find the one single person who can still out-produce aggro more than her.
Grell loves her weird little pack of young women who aren't as terrified of her as everyone else is. And they'll do any dungeon with her, which she loves, because she's constantly looking for new challenges.
Okay hear me out, DnD/MMORPG party consisting of the following:
Grell: Tank
Lizzy, Mey Rin, Ranmao: DPS
Sieglinde: Healer

My bf and I have very different playstyles when it comes to video games and watching him play Forbidden West has been an experience.
The following is an incomplete list of things that briefly make me consider ending the relationship/murdering him and making sure his body is never found:
he dies repeatedly to the same machine because he won't look at the catalogue to see its strengths and weaknesses
he retrieved DEMETER before POSEIDON and AETHER
he doesn't exhaust dialog trees
Aloy will say something like "maybe I should look around for a key to unlock this door" and he will use every weapon he has to attempt to brute force the door and then be like huh, guess there's no way to get in there
he doesn't talk to every companion when he returns to the base!!!!
he ignores a perfectly good road to climb the nearest mountain and jump off so he can use the glider
then he's like "huh, how did I miss all these campfires??"
he has pathfinding turned on but only uses the compass and gets frustrated when he can't find the thing because it's on a different level
he thinks that mid-focus conversation with an ally is a perfect time to check the map/change his gear/etc
he won't precraft ammo and is constantly frantically doing it in the middle of battle
"I died doing this thing? better try it again with the exact same strategy, that'll definitely work"
he complains that the combat is unforgiving but his default approach is to leroy jenkins every fight even when the game is like "a stealthy approach might be best here"

A couple of snippets of quick sketches, I do have more on the way!
And I know, I know. The “My darkness friend” joke has been dead. But to be fair, a!2020 made the “Leroy Jenkins” joke. And besides, it was an opportunity I could not miss.

I am once again back on my bullshit
- Okay so I really appreciate how realistic they're being with the Razor Crest. Do I enjoy the possibility of the ship being damaged beyond repair and Din possibly losing it for good? Absolutely not. I just think it's refreshing that they're not pulling some Fast and Furious nonsense where the ride keeps getting damaged but seemingly is indestructible. It really brings perspective to Din's overall situation: No matter what, any moment could be the final straw before he loses everything, so he tries to make his time count. If he’s going down, he's going down giving 110%, go big or go home.
- Din pulled a Captain Jack Sparrow, coasting his way to the dock, barely making it in before the ship goes under water, and handing the harbor man some money to take care of it
- Din seemed kind of entranced at the sight of the frog family reuniting??? I wonder if he felt lonely for a minute, missing that feeling of being surrounded by family
- Din referring to the baby as his "friend" is kind of off-putting, but when you think about it he's on the run he can't very well let it be known that he's traveling with someone who could be used as leverage against him because of a familial connection. Sentiment can be deadly if the wrong people know who is important to you. Safety first is Din's motto in this situation.
- POOR BABY AND THE FACEHUGGER
- I knew what that Cthulhu-looking was up to, but I was still surprised......also am I the only one how got Kraken vibes from that mamacore???? Space Davy Jones be like "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!"
- DIN BABY CAN YOU EVEN SWIM???????
- OMG THE GRATE SCENE, THE DREADED GRATE SCENE. POOR DIN MUST'VE BEEN SO TERRIFIED OF DYING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SAVE THE BABY
- DIN WAS SO SCARED FOR THE BABY, HE DIDN'T EVEN CARE ABOUT HIMSELF HE JUST WANTED THE BABY TO BE OKAY AND WHEN THEY FISHED HIM OUT???? DIN WAS SO RELIEVED, HOLDING HIM LIKE A NEWBORN (DO NOT THINK ABOUT DIN HOLDING HIS OWN HUMAN BABY DO NOT GO THERE YOU WILL EXPLODE)
- I've always read the "hiss" concept of removing the helmet in fics, but never actually HEARD it in the show (at least not that I remember, and I've watched the 1st season multiple times)....until now, so that tells me that Din's helmet is not designed to withstand underwater trips, hence his panic at possibly drowning
- BABY'S FACE AT THE SIGHT OF HELMETLESS MANDOS LIKE "FATHER???? DOES YOUR FACE COME OFF TOO??? FATHER PLS"
- So it's pretty much established that Din was a child of Deathwatch, but I'm not as immersed in SW 'lore to fully understand a number of things, but I DO know enough to realize the seriousness of this information, and the weight of guilt and potential existential crisis that Din may experience in the future.......it very well may shake his beliefs to the point where he will question the purpose of continuing with the Creed.....possibly even joining a different faction/tribe?
- It's possible that the baby is avoiding using his abilities to deter any unwanted attention. If he keeps using them at every turn, it's going to become even MORE difficult to hide from the Empire
- Din truly believed that retaking Mandalore was a wasted effort, but is this the result of general gossip or the Deathwatch trying to avoid any possible members reuniting with the more pacifistic mandos, thereby decreasing their following? Is this why they were so keen on rescuing Din all those years ago? A pre-emptive strike at gaining enough numbers to challenge the new "way"?
- Din is very adamant about following the Creed in regards to wearing the armor and covering his face, but he's a bit lax on some other aspects of it, for example: He's quick to dismiss Bo-Katan's request to help her team retake Mandalore by seizing the weapons, but then he turns around and uses the Creed to get assistance in helping him find the Jedi
- Empire goons always give me Nazi vibes with their outfits, but then again that's the point isnt it?
- BO-KATAN REALLY OUT HERE WITH HER ASSASSINS CREED HIDDEN BLADE
- Din always seems like such a badass, Leroy Jenkins-ing his way through every fight, but compared to the other mandos he's kinda.....I don't want to say slow, but he's definitely lacking their level of finesse
- I really want to know how Din feels about this new method of "the way", how personalized it can become depending on the mando/tribe in question. Was this the first time he ever disliked hearing the phrase spoken?
- BRUH THAT CAPTAIN REALLY WENT "HAIL HYDRA" AND TRIED TO TAKE THE SHIP DOWN
- So they couldn't be affected by the ship suddenly ascending from the port, but they sure as hell felt it start to DESCEND
- GODAMMIT DIN THAT ARMOR DOESN'T MAKE YOU INDESTRUCTIBLE
- I can't help but notice that despite Din's name having been revealed in the last season, the subtitles still say "Mandalorian", while any other named character (including the other mandos) have their names listed
- Bo-Katan saying "This is the Way" at the ended kinda sounded like an olive branch like "Sorry about the bad first impression, and for taking advantage of our deal, but you're still a swell guy, hopefully we can be allies", and Din's "This is the Way" was like "I've had enough bullshit for today, but I'll play nice for your sake", every time I hear him say the words it sounds like he's just repeating them back, like there's no true emotion behind them
- DIN GIVE YOUR SON A FRIEND/PET TO PLAY WITH I BEG YOU HE NEEDS PLAYTIME AND COMPANIONSHIP
- The Crest is literally being held together by zip ties and ductape at this point
- I love hearing Din curse, he's become so much more vocal this season in regards to how he's feeling in various situations, I love that his emotions are evolving with each new episode
- Din SEEMS nonchalant about having a lead on the jedi, and possibly the baby's home, but I feel like maybe he was trying to distract himself from the fact that he's having an identity crisis.....and that he's getting closer to the day he'll have to give up the child

Chapter 30: Crosswinds, Pt 2
Aurora felt the phone buzz in her sock, as she stood out on the deck outside the beach house. She looked around and then pulled it out, reading the text.
"Need to hear from you or the deal is off," she read. It was from her military contact and she looked around nervously. She didn't want to work for them...but if she didn't, then it was quite possible that she would go to jail and never see her son again. For the moment though, she ignored the text and shoved the phone back in her sock, before going back inside. More passengers had arrived by then...including David Nolan and his wife. It was curious. Margaret Nolan was the only non-passenger that seemed clued in on everything and showed up wherever David went. Aurora counted eighteen other passengers arriving, nineteen if one were to include Margaret Nolan, who wasn't on the plane. But she kept coming back to how odd that was. While it was reasonable that some other spouses might know a bit about what was going on with them, those on the plane seemed to keep their loved ones out of this or at arm's length. But David chose to bring her into everything and even hearing Margaret speak, if one didn't know, they might think she was on the plane too. She was as heavily immersed in all of it, as much as her husband and she debated on whether or not to reveal that to her blackmailer.
She knew they would find it interesting, but she liked them. They seemed so close and so in love in a way she had never seen before. She shook her head. Nothing could get in her way of getting her son back.
"Thank you all for coming…" Fiona said, greeting them.
"And why exactly are we here?" Captain Liam Jones asked.
"Yeah...and she's not a passenger, so what's she doing here?" Leroy Miner slurred.
"Are you drunk?" David asked.
"What's it to you, handsome? Why don't you answer my question," Leroy replied.
"She's here, because she's my wife and I want her here," David replied sternly.
"Yeah...so back off and I hope you didn't drive here," Emma said, giving him a warning. He glared at her, as he saw the badge on her hip.
"Relax…I took a cab here, blondie," he said, in a surly tone.
"Okay…I know tensions are high, but we brought you together today to assess our situation," Glinda said.
"Why us?" Bethany asked.
"As you know, the Nolans were integral in helping rescue these passengers from a military black site operation. They were experimented on and with the exception of a couple, most remain unresponsive," Glinda said.
"We also know that when the plane exploded, these ten passengers had the same urge to go to it that we did. They just weren't allowed to come to the hanger since they were in captivity," Regina added.
"We think it's important that we all share our experiences since we know that we are definitely their focal group," she said, as she looked at the Nolans.
"You weren't there...so why are you involved?" Liam asked suspiciously.
"It...it is a derivative of my research that they were using to experiment with the Callings. Against my knowledge," Glinda responded.
"So you say," Liam murmured to himself.
"Well...if we're talking about experiences, then let's talk about the believers. They were waiting outside the courthouse when I made bail, fawning and trying to follow me. It's creepy," Bethany complained.
"I agree...these believers are always standing around the street. Before the plane, I was an entrepreneur and then I came back to nothing. No one will take me seriously now in the business world. It seems these believers are the only ones that don't hate us," Baron Samdi said.
"Well...there's a reporter after you two. Anyone else have the press following them?" Emma asked.
"Oh no...that's just golden boy and his pretty little wifey here that wasn't even on the plane," Leroy replied.
"Excuse me? You think we like being followed around by reporters?" David asked.
"You certainly seem to be in the thick of all of this," Leroy replied.
"My husband is the reason the passengers that were held captive are alive!" Margaret exclaimed.
"She's right," Regina agreed.
"Squabbling is not going to get us anywhere. I want this house to be a sanctuary for all passengers. I have it available until spring. Hopefully, we can help the passengers that were experimented on by then, but I think it's important that we stick together, especially with all the attention on us," Glinda reasoned. Liam looked at David and gave him a head nod, motioning him outside, as they mostly dispersed. David took her hand and followed him out onto the deck.
"Captain…" David said. Liam briefly gave Margaret a look, wondering if he could really talk with her there, but then decided that her husband would tell her whatever he said anyway.
"I don't think we can trust this woman," he said. They exchanged a glance.
"I'll admit, we had our reservations at first, but she's helped us every step of the way," David replied. Margaret nodded.
"He's right...believe me, I thought the same as you at first. But she has helped. She was there with us at the rescue," she said.
"Her research is the reason those passengers are vegetables!" he pointed out.
"This whole thing could just be another extension of the experiment and we're all her lab rats," he added.
"I get your caginess, but I truly don't think she has malicious intent," David said, but Liam didn't look like he believed it.
"You don't understand...you don't have people blaming you for the flight," Liam said.
"The government is all over this and this stuff in the wrong hands…" he said, as he trailed off.
"What stuff?" David asked, but Liam sidestepped him again.
"We can't trust that woman and this whole thing was a waste of time," he hissed, as he stormed off for his car to leave. David and Margaret exchanged another glance, before turning to find Aurora Rose there.
"I...I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop. But he seemed to be getting really agitated there," she mentioned. David let that slide for the moment and decided to ask her some questions.
"When you were held captive...did you ever hear them talk about someone called the Major?" he asked. She thought for a moment.
"I overheard a conversation that Jenkins was having on speakerphone with someone he called Major and he acted like he was afraid of her; like she was really powerful or something. She said that money was no object, because the Holy Grail was priceless," she said, with a shrug.
"I remember that, because it was a weird thing to say. I don't know what the Holy Grail is...but she wants it badly," she added. David's eyes widened and he looked at his wife.
"The Major is a woman...you're sure?" he asked. Aurora nodded and she was surprised when Margaret took her hands.
"Thank you so much...that's very helpful," she said.
"She's right...we really appreciate your help," David replied. Aurora smiled, a real smile, like she hadn't in a long time. She didn't remember the last time that someone had been kind to her or appreciated her. It felt nice. She watched them go and felt the phone buzz in her sock. She took it out and glared at it, before tossing it into the ocean.
~*~
Emma got to the station and dropped Paul's file onto her desk. She looked up and noticed that Killian was walking in the door, which was heralded by clapping. He looked a bit shy at the attention and she smiled, as she gave him a hug.
"Welcome back," she said.
"Thanks," he replied.
"I'm surprised to see you. You know you could have milked this for a few more sick days," she teased.
"I know...but I actually wanted to talk to you," he replied.
"Oh...we'll have to talk later. I'm trying to find a woman. She's the wife of a passenger that didn't show up at the hanger when we got back," she said.
"And before you ask...yes, the Captain signed off on the investigation," she added. He smiled.
"So fill me in," he requested. She hesitated though. She knew they needed to put some distance between them. He was married...and she couldn't have him. But...as usual when it came to him, she caved.
"Her name is Helen Santino. He was an attorney before the plane...and apparently a good one. We're talking serious money. When he disappeared, it looks like she lost everything. Last known address is some crappy apartment in Astoria," she replied.
"Social media?" he asked.
"Yeah...that's the weird part. There's nothing...she's about our age, so it's strange that she doesn't have anything," Emma replied.
"Maybe she wiped it," he suggested.
"You think?" Emma asked. He shrugged.
"If Clorinda Taylor's reaction to her sister Tisbe coming back is anything to go by...then we know some people didn't react well to the plane coming back," he replied. She nodded.
"Everything before that suggests they were happy...so why didn't she show up at the airport?" Emma wondered.
"Maybe there is someone else," he replied, as their eyes met.
"Uh yeah...anyway, I think I'll go check out her place in Astoria," Emma said.
"I'd love to tag along," Killian replied. She was about to protest, but he was really good at this kind of stuff, so she relented and allowed him to follow her to her car.
~*~
David drove them home and out of curiosity, they started listening to Aaron Glover's 828 gate podcast on the way
During the 5 1/2 years that the plane was missing, the flight path, weather patterns, and telemetry have been exhaustively studied. The NTSB took eighteen months and it's full of holes. But I'm not giving up. I'll find the truth.
As they arrived home, David shut it off and they looked at each other.
"Well...he's definitely better than creepy Sidney Glass," Margaret mentioned.
"Yeah...but I'm still not sure we should trust him," David replied.
"There's only about a minute left in this one. Let's finish it," she suggested, as he turned it back on.
"That's about all for this episode, but don't miss next week's installment when we discuss the mysterious Major involved in all this and her quest for the Holy Grail," he said. Their eyes widened and they looked at each other in shock.
"The Holy Grail…" Margaret said.
"Just like Aurora talked about," he replied.
"I guess we need to talk to him, after all," Margaret said, as they got out and headed into the house.
"Hey Dad...can we shoot some hoops?" Henry asked. David smiled and took the ball from him. They would call Mr. Glover later. It had been a long time since Henry felt well enough to play basketball.
"Sure buddy...that sounds great," David said. Margaret watched him go and saw Olive on the couch with her math book.
"How was your day, honey?" she asked.
"Pretty boring...how about you and Dad? Did you find Johanna?" Olive asked. Margaret sighed.
"We did and she was happy to see us at first, until she realized we were there to talk about my mother's death," Margaret said.
"What happened?" Olive asked.
"She told me to leave it alone, stay away from Cora Mills, and then she practically kicked us out of her house," Margaret replied.
"Well, that's majorly weird and suspicious," Olive said.
"It was...and I didn't get a chance to ask Regina to pull my mother's medical files," Margaret replied.
"Well, until you do...we could poke around the Internet for more information," Olive suggested.
"Okay...let's see what we can find. You drive, Internet wiz," Margaret said, as she sat beside her daughter and they began looking.
~*~
A few hours later.
After helping her Mom do some research, Olive left the house with her gear and arrived at the rock climbing studio.
Lance unpacked the gear back in the box of his truck, as Olive approached and he smiled when seeing her.
"Hey Olive," he greeted.
"Hi Lance...thanks for meeting me. I know this is still kind of weird," Olive replied.
"It's not...just so long as your parents know," he reminded her. She nodded.
"They do...and they're fine with me continuing to do rock climbing," she said.
"That's great...so how are they?" he asked. He said they, but Olive knew he meant her mother. She beamed.
"They're great...I mean Mom is her old self. With Dad back, it's like the light inside her turned back on and Dad is way more patient with me than I deserve," Olive said.
"Don't say that...you're not half as bad as you make yourself out to be," he replied.
"Maybe…I think he gets that I'm not a little girl anymore, but he also still treats me like I am...but in a good way that I didn't realize that I missed," Olive confessed. Lance smiled.
"That's wonderful...and that's what a father does, no matter how old you get," he replied. She nodded, as they went inside the rock climbing place. They were unaware, however, that Sidney Glass was across the street in his car, snapping photos of them…
~*~
While shooting some hoops with Henry, David waited to hear back from the podcaster about a meeting. He hadn't agreed to anything yet, but Aaron texted back and agreed to meet for coffee. Margaret told him to go ahead and then pick up dinner on the way home, while she spent some time with Henry. He agreed and kissed her quickly, promising not to be long. He parked and arrived at the coffee shop, looking around in hopes that no one was watching him. He was a bit higher profile lately than he was comfortable with.
"Hey...thanks for meeting me," Aaron said, as he handed him a coffee.
"Thanks…" David said, as they sat at a corner table outside.
"So...you listened, I assume?" Aaron asked.
"Margaret and I listened to a few episodes," he said.
"So, you're agreeing to be interviewed?" Aaron asked.
"Not yet…" David said.
"You have to understand that the passengers...we don't know who we can trust right now. We feel like we all have a target on our backs," he added.
"I get that," Aaron replied.
"But you might be able to earn my trust," David said.
"How?" Aaron asked.
"What do you know about the Holy Grail?" he asked. Aaron looked around.
"Where did you hear that term?" he asked.
"Not important…" David evaded. Aaron sighed.
"I have a source," he said vaguely.
"Can I talk to them?" David asked. Aaron shook his head.
"I can't reveal my source or the information will dry up," Aaron refuted.
"What can you tell me then?" David asked.
"Right after 828 returned, the Senate Intelligence Committee, House Appropriations started having secret meetings in which they earmarked millions to preserve the phantom shiner. It's a fish. Hasn't been seen since the 1940s. So why earmark funds?" Aaron asked.
"To pay for a Clandestine operation," David surmised. Aaron smiled.
"Very good, Professor," he teased.
"But all my source had was a fragment of a conversation he overheard. A senator said, 'It's the Holy Grail.' We have to be the first, or 828 blows up in our face," Aaron said.
"The Holy Grail? You think that's what the Major's looking for?" David asked.
"No, not literally. This isn't Arthurian legend. But it's something big," Aaron said.
"So...you ready to go on the record?" Aaron asked.
"Not quite," David replied.
"But you told me something...so I'll tell you something I know," he added, as Aaron listened with rapt attention.
"The Major is a woman," he revealed.
"You're sure?" Aaron asked. David nodded.
"And we know that it was a military black hawk that she came to Red Hook in, but we'd need someone in intel to trace it further," Aaron said. David thought back to Agent King and though he knew that he blamed him for Vance's death...he could tell that he truly cared about Vance. If he could somehow convince him that it might have been this Major that was responsible for his death, then he might agree to help them.
"If I could talk to Agent King...I might be able to convince him to help. But I need access to him. Do you think your source could make that happen?" David asked.
"It's worth a shot," Aaron replied.
"Good...make it happen and we can see about that interview," David agreed, as they shook hands and parted ways.
~*~
Emma and Killian arrived at the apartment building, which was the last known address for Helen Santino. Emma knocked and when they found no answer, they turned the doorknob, finding it unlocked. Thinking that might mean foul play, they drew their weapons and slowly walked in. They searched, but found no one.
"Clear…" Killian called.
"Clear…" Emma echoed, as they met in the kitchen. They found a carton of milk that had an expiration date that was well past. There was also stuff scattered everywhere, like someone left unexpectedly.
"I do not want to know what's in that carton," Killian joked. She snorted.
"She definitely left in a hurry," Emma said, as they looked through her things.
"She either left in a hurry or was taken," Killian said, as Emma found some documents and photos.
"Yeah...can you continue searching? I'm going to take these to Paul and see if it jogs his memory at all," she said.
"Sure," he agreed, though he was clearly disappointed that she was ditching him. Perhaps it was for the best. They couldn't be together anyway, but that didn't stop him from watching her go with longing...

Cyberpunk vs the open world
Spent a few hours jacked in and on its own, it's not a bad game (bugs aside) but when I compare it to other open world games, it falters a bit.
When it comes to open worlds in modern settings, my go to model for comparison is the GTA series (San Andreas/V(Online)).
CHARACTER: CP has deeper character creation and progression but you don't get to view your handiwork in regular gameplay or cutscenes like you can in GTA.
MOVEMENT: About the same in pedestrian mode but GTA's driving feels/handles much better.
COMBAT: CP has better weapon selection and modability. Hand to hand feels similar. Gunplay is more akin to first person shooters. Stealth play reminds me of Metal Gear... makes me want to just run in and Leroy Jenkins everything (even though hacking eases the pain of it quite a bit.
ENVIRONMENT: Both are reasonably interactive but GTA's flows more smoothly; pedestrian and vehicular. There's more to do as a pedestrian in GTA but there's more mission density in CP. GTA has better radio and other ambient and interactive media.
GRAPHICS: Not as mindblowing as I was hoping. Better on close-ups than GTA but not so much during regular gameplay.
If there is a faction system here, I don't feel that it is as definitive or fleshed out as it is in Fallout 4 or 76.
Not a bad play but missed potential and a lot of room for improvement.

TCW rewatch
Season One
Ambush
How did Dooku know about the meeting with Katoonko? Did a certain Chancellor inform him?
 Jedi Grandpa!
"See? See? Size matters not!" You know, it makes you wonder how many times Yoda got underestimated because he's tiny. Also, the giggle afterwards.
The resigned clones. Aw.
I will never stop finding it amusing how Yoda turns into a tiny bouncy zip ball of death in a fight. Trust Yoda to weaponize being a nuisance. Also, a beautiful example of deadly dodging
Aw. The part where Yoda talks with the clones about how different they are in the Force.
Also aw, Yoda and the birbs after the fight.
Also, also, Yoda is actually quite friendly to Ventress. When he's talking to Dooku there is something of an edge (not much, though), but with Ventress he's using the Trickster Mentor Voice. Maybe you should have surrendered, Asajj?
Clone tattoo count: 2
Rising Malevolence
Anakin, since when are you asking the Council for permission first? Are you secretly jealous of Plo Koon, or something?
Anakin telling Ahsoka to behave is funny, because it's Anakin.
You know, Anakin, you seem to be the only Jedi upset about Ahsoka speaking up. And don't think I didn't notice you Palpatine, making a pointed comment about how bold Ahsoka is.
Also, interesting contrast between Anakin insisting on finding the weapon being more important to cut to Plo Koon emphatically saying he values clone lives more than finding the weapon. Of course, it turns out that he meant to go look for surviviors ten seconds later, but nevertheless, interesting contrast.
Of course, Anakin decides to reinterpret orders. It's what Anakin does. And yes, he was always going to look for surviviors, but has it occured to you, Anakin, that you could have told Ahsoka that and not put her through all the worry? That was kinda shitty of you.
And here we have Plo Koon performing Peak Jedi Bullshit, by going on a walk on an escape pod in space to fight battle droids. And then doing a Fastball Special with a clone.
So, we have Yoda, Mace and Obi-Wan in camp "geater scope" and Anakin, Plo and Ahsoka in camp "save lives". It's interesting to note that it's one of the situations where both sides have a point. Saving the lives of the clones and Plo Koon is important! It's the right thing to do! But at the same time, Anakin and Ahsoka have a vital mission that they've taken a detour from.
Palpatine is doing subtle shit stirring, of course, by hinting most hintingly that Anakin's decision might be a costly mistake. And then immediately calling Anakin to tell them the Council is "furious" when they're actually concerned and kinda annoyed.
Anakin's reply that he came to save Plo Koon and no mention of clones is pretty telling.
Aw, Ahsoka sensing Plo Koon.
"We're clones, we're meant to be expendable." "Not. To. Me." <3
So, obvs, Anakin doesn't look completely great in this episode - but there's also the point that Ahsoka is his first child I mean padawan, so he was bound to make mistakes. He certainly teaches her about persistence and determination, but he also fails to trust her and reassure her. Equally, with the clones, they may not be his main concern when looking for survivors - he wants to find Plo Koon, because he's Ahsoka's friend first, but he also shows concern for them and care once they're on the ship.
Shadow of Malevolence
And now it's time for Anakin Has a Reckless Plan. Ahsoka and Plo caution him against it, but Anakin is certain it will work out.
Cute detail: Plo and Ahsoka note that Anakin inspires great loyalty in his clones by leading by example.
It's time for The Villains Will be Doing a War Crime!
Hello there Space Manta Rays! You look like you have a lot of teeth!
Oh Anakin. It's good that you eventually listened to Ahsoka and Plo Koon and did change your plan for one where it's not just you as the last man standing, because the clones aren't space wizards like you.
So, it's probably a good moment to note that Anakin's plan wasn't The Worst or anything like that--it does work with the changes suggested by Ahsoka and Plo Koon, and it might have worked even better if Anakin had listened to them from the start.
It's also an interesting point to see how being such a good pilot and so strong in the Force affects Anakin's judgement--it just doesn't occur to him that his baseline isn't the same as the Clones. It's not malicious, and it is understandable. It's a common human bias to think of the things that come easily to you as easy for everyone, when it doesn't have to be the case.
Destroy Malevolence:
Hello Padme!
I see Palpatine sent her right into the embrace of General Grevious. Damn it, Palpatine.
You know how people say that Luke is gentle and so on like Padme, and Leia is brash and aggressive like Anakin. Ahahahaha. Ahahahahaha. You know, the Padme who yelled at Anakin to continue shooting the Malevolence because she won't be a hostage? The Padme who rigged her ship to blow up and nearly took out Grevious?
Plo Koon once again points out Anakin is taking terrible risks. Obi-Wan apparently decided it's time for him to join the party. There was no mention of him taking terrible risks.
Padme and Anakin are being subtle. They're just missing a "we're in love" flag.
Hinty hint, huh, Obi-Wan?
Cutting off the transmission you don't like, Grevious?
And boom goes Malevolence
Rookies
Clone tattoo count: 2
Did the sergeant dye his hair and eyebrows to look like he's going grey?
Great acting there, infiltrator droids. You tried.
A+ acting there, Rex.
Hevy, no!
Downfall of a Droid
Anakin is Having a Reckless and Ahsoka Is the Voice of Reason once more.
Ah, this is the Anakin and Attachment Are a Problem episode. And also Obi-Wan could stand to be nicer about droids.
And here's R3, to whom Anakin will be mean, because he's not R2, but it's OK, because R3 is secretly a spy.
How to disguise a Jedi: put a poncho over your Jedi clothes. Don't hide anything else.
OK, Anakin isn't particularly mean to R3. And he does make himself look particularly incompetent.
I notice that both Grevious and the Trandshan sleezy droid guy have An Accent, unlike our heroes.
R2 is making a valiant escape.
R3 isn't even trying to pretend he doesn't want Anakin caught or dead, is he?
Not my favourite episode.
Duel of the Droids
Really Ahsoka. Don't be mean to Rex and have him carry around a droid.
And here we have Anakin and Ahsoka demonstrating that Jedi don't need parachutes.
R3 REALLY isn't bothering pretending not to be a spy. Like really really.
Ahsoka vs Grevious is going quite well for Ahsoka, so far.
Well, it was going well.
R2 defeats his Evil Counterpart. The day is saved! Anakin didn't learn his important lesson.
Bombad Jedi
Palpatine uses Concerned Grandpa Facade on Padme. It's not very effective.
Hello Jar-Jar. You're like Jaskier on steroids. Someone just needs to let you compose catchy earworms.
So, everyone looks reasonable for looking Jar-Jar behind, but this is one of this occassions when it turns out he's vital.
Oops. Padme gets to hear that the Republic isn't helping very much. (Although trusting the Trade Federation isn't exactly smart on Ono's part...)
Whose cloak could this be, hmmm?
Padme is sure having fun rescuing herself and pretending a Jedi is saving her there.
Yep, trusting the Trade Federation is a bad idea.
And this is why giant bug friends are good friends.
And we end on a Very Important Lesson.
Cloak of Darkness
Interesting little detail: Ahsoka is sent out with Luminara, without Anakin. This seems to be situation as normal, too, so Padawans were not expected to learn and work only with their Masters.
Famous last words, Ahsoka
And I think we see Anakin's influence on Ahsoka, when she threatens Gunray. Luminara shuts that down pretty quickly. It's also interesting that Ahsoka charges in despite Luminara having everything perfectly in grip.
On consideration, this might be one of the reasons why Jedi would send padawans to do stuff with other Jedi. It gives them the opportunity to notice anything of concern that the padawan's Master missed or messed up.
Hello Asajj. You're doing pretty well in this episode.
Poor Luminara. Ahsoka's inner Leroy Jenkins was very strong that day.
Luminara uses Taunt on Asajj. It's super effective.
You know, it's... interesting that the person who says that sometimes soldiers should disobey orders turns out to be a traitor. Not sure if like, given a. what happens later in SW and b. who exactly used the "I was just obeying orders" in RL.
And our traitor gets reward by a stabbing.
Luminara praises Ahsoka. Aw.
Lair of Grevious
Hello there, Kit!
 Aww, Nahdar and Kit.
Clone Trooper: I'll blast the door! Nahdar: I will stab the door! Kit: Guys, let's just open it?
A statue of a warrior holding a head. All good and not creepy at all.
Hello there Grevious's masks. That is also good and not creepy.
And we have one of the earliest examples of the war taking toll on the Jedi with Nahdar's reaction to loss. He swears revange and says that the strong win, both of which aren't very Jedi sentiments, though they are understandable reactions. Which eventually gets Nahdar killed, since he decides to fight Grevious on his own.
And you know, it sucks that Kit and Nahdar don’t actually have a moment for Kit to be more supportive about this.

August 02, 2012 I was going to the Oregon Humane Society to see what it would take to possibly adopt a cat in the future. *laughs* And apparently the future was then and NOW! I was waiting to talk to one of the folks that handles adoptions and was told I could look while I waited. I’m strolling along seeing all these cute and sweet felines and then there in a cage all by himself curled up in a tiny ball in the middle of a pillow (that looked giant for such a tiny kitten) was this cute white and gray ball of fluff sleeping. I got closer and cooed softly and up popped this little head with the biggest green eyes and it was just instant love. I remember flagging one of the volunteers and asking if I could meet him. She said of course and made a comment that he’d just been put out this morning. She takes me to a small greeting room and I take a seat as she goes to get him. When she came back there he was in her hands squirming and no sooner had she set him down on the floor he took off full boar at me....the only problem is the floors were slick linoleum and when he tried to stop before me he slid between my legs bonking into the wall. It not only sealed the deal then and there but he earned his name LEROY JENKINS! For running head on with no fear.
Within the hour he was mine and I was his. The lady who helped me to adopt him told me his story. He had started off life pretty rough. Sadly he was found in a box abandoned, dehydrated, starving and with a sever case of ring worm which left balled spots on him. Not even three weeks old!!! Thankfully a kind soul found him, brought him to the Oregon Humane Society where our paths crossed and we got to become a family.
Leroy blessed me with a little over seven years with love, companionship and joy. It was a honor to adopt him, an honor and pleasure to love him and see him grow into the sweetest loving boy I’ve ever known. He will be dearly, dearly missed but never ever forgotten. He was my daily inspiration, a source of strength, and often my reason to dig deep and push through anything and everything because if I couldn’t do it for me I could definitely do it for him. You were and will always be my fuzzy angel Leroy. Rest in peace baby boy.

IT HAS BEEN about a year now since my involvement with the Dozier School For Boys began taking over my world. Kicking off the whirlwind was my need to get my hands on the school’s student ledgers. I won’t rehash the entire adventure but what I will say is that it took many frustrating nights online, several emails to the Archivist, the potential of an $600+ bill to get digital copies & finally an 8 hour round trip before I’d actually have what I wanted…Well at least a quarter of what I wanted!
HAVING ABSOLUTELY NO clue what I was looking for, I spent the next several weeks trying to organize what I had. Almost immediately number of very distinct patterns began jumping out at me. The same sentencing judges over & over again, the SAME sentence length OR lack there of & a crap load of blank spaces; Specifically under the “WHEN/HOW RELEASED” columns. One would expect that any institution handling children would be required to keep detailed & accurate records of ALL of its charges, especially when it comes to their last known whereabouts BUT that would make too much sense, now wouldn’t it…
THE INFO THAT I had gotten was only from the latest volume of the ledgers & didn’t even make a dent in the number of boys that had been shoved through the doors to be reformed. I knew there were hundreds OR even thousands of names in those books. I maybe had a few hundred at the most. By now, I had gotten used to what I like to call the “Hurry Up & Stop” method of researching. Basically I’d need specific info, finally get said info ONLY to start looking it over & promptly figure out that I needed additional material OR even worse, I’d need something entirely different altogether. In this case, I had just assumed that I’d eventually be making another trip to the Archives; That is until I ended up becoming involved with Bob Straley & taking over his website…And right there on one of the site pages was a link to the detailed, handwritten notes that WHB Mr. Andrew Puel had spent hours putting together.
Mr. Andrew Puel At The State Archives…Sitting In The EXACT Same Spot That I Did When I Was There!
      NOT IT!!
WHEN I SAW that link, I was beyond thrilled! I was finally going to have something reliable to validate what I had come up with! I had spoken with Andrew at Bob Straley’s memorial service & knew that any research he had done would be the best & most accurate info that I could possibly get. When the page loaded, it definitely did NOT show what I had been hoping for; In all actuality, it showed nothing but this:
ODDLY THE INFO was missing! I started clicking on some of the other older links on the website & sure enough, there were quite a few that led to nowhere. I don’t know why it gone OR where it went, only that it’s not there. I tried not to get to aggravated, thinking that there had to be a hard copy among the thousands of documents that I have. I spent the next several weeks going through EVERY page, folder, digital file, etc. & found nothing. Bob kept everything, so to say I was puzzled that he wouldn’t have a copy of something so important was a huge understatement. I did another look through, literally taking out every piece of paper, one by one; Still nothing.
  Well Damn….
    AN EVENING IN GAINESVILLE
ON A FRIDAY in late February, I made the 3 hour trip to Gaineville. With me was a small black bag filled with what I believed to be the most important material related to the Arthur G Dozier School for Boys. I pulled up to a beautiful home, tucked back in a quiet sub division that was surrounded by forest. Standing outside was a familiar face, Mr. Bryant Middleton. The “Whitehouse Boy” greeted me with a smile & a brief hug before inviting me inside to meet his wife. Both graciously spent several hours telling their personal story of Dozier & how the WHB’s Organization was founded. They were both lovely people & I was grateful that they had been so willing to meet with me & be as open as they were. When we finally moved into the dining room to look over the things that I had brought, I began pulling things out. I yanked a folder out that had been wedged inside of my over full bag & a stack of papers fell out. The stack was stapled together & folded in half. I picked it up to see what it was & as I unfolded it, my jaw hit the floor!
OH…MY…GOD…It was a hard copy of the list of missing boys! The same list that I had just spent weeks trying to find! The stuff inside of that bag was the stuff that I pulled out & reviewed quite frequently & there’s absolutely NO way that I would missed that thick stack of ledger pages! I slid the stack across the table, explaining to Bryant why I was a bit stunned at finding them. He thought it was strange as well. I’m not going to get into the specifics of my time with the Middletons in this post, although I will say that I’m very fortunate to have met with them. They’re great people & they continue to work toward keeping the future from repeating the past.
    WHERE COULD THEY BE?
OF COURSE THERE is minimal info on the boys on this list. What is known is that most were listed as escaped but never recovered. A lot lacked permanent homes OR guardians, so there wouldn’t have been any concerned parents wondering about the whereabouts of their lost boy. It should also be noted that the last place they were seen was the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna. That leaves so many unanswered questions; Could ALL 185 boys on that list have actually successfully escaped & moved on to a better life? Even if that did happen, would it be possible that NOT 1 single child ever be heard from again? I suppose it could be possible for some BUT for All 185? I seriously have my doubts & given the history of Dozier, I’d say that’s highly unlikely. Especially considering the significant proof of other burial sites on the school’s 1200+ acres.Whether or not they continued life after Dozier OR their lives were taken at the school, they each deserve to be recognized. I’ll let them speak for themselves….

Eddie Kendricks
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edward James Kendrick (December 17, 1939 – October 5, 1992), best known by the stage name Eddie Kendricks, was an American singer and songwriter. Noted for his distinctive falsetto singing style, Kendricks co-founded the Motown singing group The Temptations, and was one of their lead singers from 1960 until 1971. His was the lead voice on such famous songs as "The Way You Do The Things You Do", "Get Ready", and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)". As a solo artist, Kendricks recorded several hits of his own during the 1970s, including the number-one single "Keep On Truckin'".
Biography
Early years
Kendricks was born in Union Springs, Alabama on December 17, 1939, the son of Johnny and Lee Bell Kendrick. He had one sister, Patricia, and three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Clarence. His family moved to the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, where he met and began singing with his best friend Paul Williams in their church choir in the late 1940s. In 1955, Kendricks, Williams, and friends Kell Osborne and Jerome Averette formed a doo-wop group called The Cavaliers, and began performing around Birmingham. The group decided to move for better opportunities in their musical careers, and in 1957 the group moved to Cleveland, Ohio on E 123rd and Kinsman. In Cleveland, they met manager Milton Jenkins, and soon moved with Jenkins to Detroit, Michigan, where the Cavaliers renamed themselves "The Primes." Under Jenkins' management, the Primes were successful in the Detroit area, eventually creating a female spin-off group called The Primettes (later The Supremes). In 1961, Osbourne moved to California, and the Primes disbanded. Kendricks and Paul Williams joined forces with members Otis Williams and Melvin "Blue" Franklin of Otis Williams and the Distants after three members quit and became The Elgins, who on the same day changed their name to "The Temptations" and signed to Motown.
With the Temptations
The Temptations began singing background for Mary Wells. After an initial dry period, The Temptations quickly became the most successful male vocal group of the 1960s. Although technically Kendricks was first tenor in the group's harmony, he predominately sang in a falsetto voice. Among the Temptations songs Kendricks sang lead on were "Dream Come True" (1962), the group's first charting single; "The Way You Do the Things You Do" (1964), the group's first US Top 20 hit; "I'll Be in Trouble" (1964); "The Girl's Alright With Me" (1964), a popular b-side that Kendricks co-wrote; "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)" (1964); "Get Ready" (1966); "Please Return Your Love to Me" (1968); and "Just My Imagination" (1971). He was also allowed to sing a few leads in his natural voice such as "May I Have This Dance" (1962). He shares lead vocal duty on other records, including "You're My Everything (The Temptations song)" (1967) (shared with David Ruffin), and a long string of Norman Whitfield produced psychedelic soul records where all five Temptations sang lead, such as the Grammy winner "Cloud Nine" (1968), "I Can't Get Next to You" (1969), and "Ball of Confusion" (1970). He also leads on "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" (1968), a popular duet with Diana Ross and the Supremes, and on the Temptations' famous version of the Christmas classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" (1968).
In the Temptations, Kendricks was responsible for creating most of the group's vocal arrangements, and also served as wardrobe manager, including the now famous purple suits the group wore for one performance. Though Whitfield had chief responsibility for writing, Kendricks co-wrote and received credit for several Temptations songs apart from "The Girl's Alright With Me" including "Isn't She Pretty" (1961) and "Don't Send Me Away" (1967). His favorite food was cornbread, and as a result he was nicknamed "Cornbread" (or "Corn" for short) by his groupmates. According to Otis Williams, Kendricks romantically pursued Diana Ross, lead singer of the Supremes, and he was said to have been close friends with Martha Reeves of the Vandellas. In her second book, Supreme Faith, Supremes singer Mary Wilson writes that she and Kendricks were lovers "briefly," but remained close friends.
Kendricks remained in the group through the rest of the decade, but a number of issues began to push him away from it in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was uncomfortable with singing the psychedelic style that Whitfield was now crafting for the group as opposed to the romantic ballads they had sung under the direction of Smokey Robinson; his friend Paul Williams was often too ill to perform with the group; and Kendricks often found himself at odds with bandmates Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin. As he grew away from the group, Kendricks began to rekindle his friendship with ex-Temptation David Ruffin, who convinced him to leave the group.
In a 1991 interview with a Chicago television series called Urban Street, Kendricks said he had actually considered leaving the group as early as 1965, even though that was when the band was finally starting to take off, because of things that "weren't quite proper." He explained that they were working with people that "didn't have their best interests at heart." Kendricks, however, initially decided to stay in the group because he was worried he would not get the support he needed if he left the group. Kendricks also expressed the fact that his relationship with Berry Gordy was less than cordial. "Berry Gordy is a man I don't know, I only met him about three times," he said, but "I know he didn't particularly care for me." Kendricks stated that he did not agree with many decisions that were made.
Following one final altercation with Williams and Franklin during a run at the Copacabana nightclub in November 1970, Kendricks walked off after the first night and didn't return, and it was mutually decided he would leave the group. While working on his first solo album, Kendricks recorded one last hit single with the Temptations, 1971's "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)". By the time the record reached #1 on the US pop charts in April 1971, Kendricks had signed a solo deal with Motown's Tamla imprint and was preparing the release of his first solo album, All By Myself. However, many of his problems with Motown would reoccur.
Solo career and later years
Kendricks' solo career began slowly; he endured two years of singles that missed the Top 40, while The Temptations continued with their string of Norman Whitfield-helmed hits (one of which, "Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are)", was written as a jab towards Kendricks and Ruffin). Despite enjoying only a modicum of commercial success and radio airplay, Kendricks's 1972 album People... Hold On (recorded with his touring group, The Young Senators, composed of Jimi Dougans, Frank Hooker, LeRoy Fleming, Wornell Jones, David Lecraft, James Drummer Johnson and John Engram) was a cornerstone of DJ playlists in downtown New York's nascent disco scene. The expansive, eight-minute take on "Girl, You Need A Change Of Mind", which peaked at number thirteen on the soul chart, was a particular favorite at David Mancuso's Loft. The single was later remade by R&B singer D'Angelo for the Get on the Bus Soundtrack. As the dance craze seeped through into other cities, Kendricks scored a #1 pop hit in 1973 with the Frank Wilson-produced "Keep on Truckin'". As well as reaching #18 in the UK, it sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Further hits included 1974's "Boogie Down" (US #2, UK #39) and another million selling release, "Son of Sagittarius" (US #28) from the same year, 1975's "Shoeshine Boy" (US #18), and 1976's "He's a Friend" (US #36). Another notable song is "Intimate Friends" (1977), which was sampled for the Alicia Keys song "Unbreakable", "A Penny for My Thoughts" by Common, Sparkle's "Time to Move on" on her self-titled first studio album, and for Sweet Sable's "Old Time's Sake" from the soundtrack for the 1994 2pac film, Above the Rim. Erykah Badu also sampled "Intimate Friends" for her song "Fall in Love (Your Funeral)", as well as his song "My People... Hold on" for her song "My People" on her album New Amerykah Part One (4th World War).
Exasperated by a lack of creative and financial control, Kendricks left Motown in 1978, with the requirement of signing away the rights to his royalties. He moved first to Arista Records, and later to Atlantic Records. By this time, his popularity had waned, and he was also gradually losing his voice as a result of chain smoking.
He and David Ruffin briefly re-joined the Temptations for a 1982 reunion tour. In an interview with Tom Meros, Dennis Edwards, Kendricks's former Temptations band mate, claimed that Kendricks had issues hitting his falsetto notes during recording sessions for the reunion album. Because of his singing difficulty, Edwards said that Kendricks went to a physician to examine his vocal ability. The physician discovered a "pin drop" of cancer on one of his lungs. However, Kendricks reportedly refused to undergo chemotherapy at the time because of fear that he would lose his hair.
Ruffin and Kendrick (Kendricks dropped the "s" from his stage name during the 1980s) reportedly met up one night when Ruffin went to watch Kendrick perform in a nightclub; Kendrick spotted Ruffin in the crowd, pointed him out, and invited him to come up on stage and perform with him. Afterward they talked about touring on their own and recorded an album as a duo for RCA in 1988.
Earlier, in 1985, they participated in the Hall & Oates live album Live at The Apollo recorded at a benefit at New York City's Apollo Theater; and sang with the duo at Live Aid in Philadelphia and the MTV Video Music Awards in New York. Hall & Oates have cited Kendrick and Ruffin specifically, and the Temptations in general, as a major influence.
In 1989, Kendrick, Ruffin, and their Temptations bandmates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There, Kendrick and Ruffin made plans with fellow former Temptation Dennis Edwards to tour and record as "Ruffin/Kendrick/Edwards, Former Leads of The Temptations." The Ruffin/Kendrick/ Edwards project was cut short in 1991, when Kendrick was diagnosed with lung cancer and David Ruffin died of a drug overdose, although Kendrick and Edwards continued to tour for the remainder of 1991.
Death
In late 1991, Kendricks, by now living in his native Birmingham, Alabama, underwent surgery to have one of his lungs removed in hopes of preventing the spread of the cancer. He continued to tour through the summer of 1992, when he fell ill again and was hospitalized. Kendricks died of lung cancer in Birmingham on October 5, 1992 at age 52. He was survived by his three children: Parris, Aika, and Paul Kendricks. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Legacy
In 1998, NBC aired The Temptations, a four-hour television miniseries based upon an autobiographical book by Otis Williams. Kendricks was portrayed by actor Terron Brooks.
On October 16, 1999, Eddie Kendrick Memorial Park, located on the corner of 18th Street and 4th Avenue North, was dedicated to Birmingham native Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations. The park uses Kendricks' family name sans the "s", which was added early in his career. The memorial features a bronze sculpture of Kendricks by local artist Ron McDowell, as well as sculptures of the other Temptations, set into a granite wall. Inscribed on the granite are the names of Temptation's hit songs. Recorded music can be heard throughout the park, featuring songs by Kendricks and the Temptations.

We’re here!!! Let’s keep you entertained 😘 if TW Bellamy reads text books for pleasure is he well versed in pop culture? What’s his favorite karaoke song? I want it that way? For reason?
tw bellamy is trapped between 2005 and 2008 pop culture with the exception of overwatch and its subsequent memes. he still thinks YTMND is funny. he misses ebaumsworld and somethingawful. he mutters “leroy jenkins” whenever he breaks thru a choke. the CD holder in his truck is full of mixes he made in high school of songs he downloaded on kazaa. he still puts a period at the end of all of his texts because he still doesn’t know to do otherwise
he only karaokes when he’s blackout drunk, and he’ll sing any song you want. but because he’s seen magic mike xxl eighty times, if you ask him to sing I Want It That Way, he will take off his shirt

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Story Summary: Mary Margaret and David are two best friends who desperately want a baby. One night, over a game of Scrabble, she suggests they have one together.
Chapter Summary: Mary Margaret and David thought they had 5 more weeks to prepare for their child. It seems Emma has other plans.
A/N: So, this is the last official chapter. The next will be the epilogue! Thank you all for supporting this story and for showing it so much love. :) This was my first Snowing slowburn and I loved every minute of it. If you have anything you want included in the epilogue, just lemme know!

The next few months seemed to fly by in a blink of an eye. Mary Margaret’s stomach continued to expand and the loft seemed to get smaller by the day. However, David was working hard on making sure that they’d have a new home before the baby came or shortly thereafter. He had hired Leroy Jenkins to be the contractor on the project and helped out whenever he could, though he also spent a lot of his free time searching the best places for animals and making sure that they’d arrive by the time Mary Margaret would be off maternity leave. He had already made sure that Regina could find a replacement for him in time and felt that Graham would be suitable for the job.
Mary Margaret spent the summer searching for the perfect furniture to fill their new home. While she had been able to sneak in some of her own pieces in the loft she rented, most of its own furniture came along with it and she had never been a fan, so it was time to really get into it. She and David had decided on a lot of soft blues and whites. George and Leopold had kept their childhood homes dark, sterile. They didn’t want that for their family, they wanted it to feel warm and inviting. For Emma’s nursery, she had decided to go with a swan theme. Ever since she got pregnant, she just felt a calling to them, like it was meant to be. It’d be simple, with grey walls and all white furniture. She had picked up a plush swan rocking horse for when her daughter got a little older. Belle had helped her build the perfect library, filled with books for all ages.
They had Mary Margaret’s baby shower in August and all of their friends attended. Neither of them had any biological family anymore, but they didn’t lack for a family period. Their friends helped them stock up for their daughter and were clearly so happy for her arrival. Even Kathryn and Jim came (the former sporting a baby bump of her own), with a swan mobile as their present. Regina was kind enough to help them store everything until their new home was ready to move into.
Before they knew it, leaves were falling off the trees and a familiar chill had come over Storybrooke. It was October again and it was hard for David to believe that it had been over a year since they had begun the process of becoming parents. Emma was due to be born in 5 weeks and it felt like the pregnancy had gone by so fast. The box for her bassinet was in the corner, since they knew the house wouldn’t be ready until the first week of December. Before David left for work that morning, he had promised Mary Margaret that he’d get it done by Halloween, which was still 8 days away.
Mary Margaret walked around the loft, trying to keep herself busy. It was a Saturday, which meant no work and all of her friends were busy. She was going through her nesting phase, where everything had to be just so. As she folded up some more onesies she got, she felt a stab of pain and frowned. That morning, she had woken up feeling weird, but brushed it off to Braxton Hicks, her doctor said she’d start feeling those. However, they were starting to get worse. Slowly, Mary Margaret rubbed her stomach.
“What’s going on in there, hmm? You doing okay?”
There was another sharp stab and she lowered herself down in a chair, rubbing her stomach. It kept up for a few more minutes, with Mary Margaret moaning in pain until finally it subsided. After it passed, she realized that she was wet, which made her frown. Pregnancy had screwed up her bladder, but normally she had at least a feeling that it was coming. She managed to work her underwear down and then realized something.
 That wasn’t pee.
She knew that water breaking wasn’t like in the movies, with a huge gush of water or anything, but she hadn’t expected it to be so subtle either. She noticed that she had also lost her mucus plug, which only meant one thing.
She was in labor, 5 weeks too early. Instantly, panicked settled in. At her last appointment, the baby had been 4 pounds. That was far too small. There was no way that she could be going into labor so early!
Trying to collect herself, she grabbed the phone and quickly dialed David. He picked up on the fourth ring, which didn’t help her anxiety.
“Miss me already?” He asked with a chuckle.
“David,” she panted, her voice filled with fear. “My water broke and I…I lost my mucus plug.”
“But it’s…it’s too early.”
“I don’t think she cares about that. Please, come home, we need to get to the hospital.”
“I’m on my way.”
David had gotten back to the loft in 5 minutes, a scary thought considering the station was 10 minutes away on a day with no traffic. Mary Margaret didn’t have time to think about that though. David’s eyes went to the bassinet in the corner, why had he insisted on waiting so long to set it up? They didn’t even have a hospital bag packed or anything.
They drove to the hospital in no time, calling Mary Margaret’s doctor along the way. While she was being examined, David stepped out of the room to phone Gold.
 “Mary Margaret’s in labor.”
“But she’s only 35 weeks.”
“I know.” David frowned. “We didn’t have anything ready, we rushed here with just her purse. Would it be possible for you guys to go and get a bag ready for her?”
“Of course, of course.” Gold paused for a moment. “It’s going to be okay.”
“It’s too early. I’m trying to be brave for Mary Margaret, but I’m scared.”
“Gideon was born 8 weeks early and look at him now,” he pointed out. “Healthy as can be. Emma’s going to be fine.”
David took a deep breath. “I sure hope you’re right.”
“Keep us updated and we’ll bring the bag once the baby is born.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem. Just keep breathing. Emma is Mary Margaret’s child, she’s a fighter, she’ll be fine.”
“I know.” He sighed. “I know.”
David hung up and headed back into the room, finding Mary Margaret looking panicked.
“I’m 8 centimeters dilated.”
“What?!?”
“Those Braxton Hicks I thought I was having all morning…they were the real deal.”
“Oh my God.” He looked over at the doctor. “Will the baby be okay?”
“As of right now, she looks to be in upper 4 pound range. We’ll have to monitor her once she’s born, but we’ll see. I’ll be back in a half hour to check on you.”
Tears fell down Mary Margaret’s face. “David, this is all my fault.”
“Hey.” He lowered himself onto the bed. “No, it’s not.”
“If I had figured it out sooner, maybe they could’ve stopped it…if I ate better, maybe she’d be bigger…”
“You are the healthiest eater I know. You took your vitamins, none of this is your fault.” He squeezed her hand. “It’s going to be okay, our daughter is going to be just fine.”
“How do you know?”
“Because you’re her mother. You are the toughest person I know.” He pecked her lips. “She’s a fighter. In 13 years, she’ll be scaring the shit out of us, in 16 we’ll be arguing over when she’s old enough to date-which isn’t until she’s 50 by the way…”
Mary Margaret couldn’t help but smile at that. “I think 16’s a good age.”
David playfully rolled his eyes. “We’re going to watch her graduate high school, go on and get an amazing career, eventually fall madly in love and start a family of her own or maybe she’ll adopt a bunch of cats. Either way, we are going to get to see her grow up. Our daughter is too tough to let some stupid odds get in her way.”
Slowly, his girlfriend nodded. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“What else am I here for?” His lips brushed against her forehead. “Now come on, let’s get ready to meet our little girl.”
It only took another hour for Mary Margaret to reach 10 centimeters. She clung to David’s hand, sweat pouring down her face as she pushed. She was in so much pain, yet that couldn’t even be her main focus. She wanted her baby girl to be born happy and healthy. Her mind drifted to her mother for a moment, who had often spoke of Mary Margaret’s own birth. Eva had gone into labor unexpectedly during one of the worst snowstorms that the East coast had ever seen. The roads were closed and there was not enough time for her to get to the hospital. Eva said it was the scariest moment of her life, but thinking about her daughter’s bright future had kept her through it. Mary Margaret knew she had to do the same and unlike her mother, she’d be there to watch her baby girl grow up.
“One last push, Snow!” The doctor called out.
Mary Margaret dug her fingernails into David’s palm as she let out another scream, pushing as hard as she could. She felt a moment of relief, knowing the baby was out. Yet, there was suddenly silence. Mary Margaret held her breath, knowing that wasn’t a good thing.
Cry, sweet girl, cry. She thought to herself, as if she could will the baby into doing it.
After what felt like an eternity, finally cries filled the delivery room. David and Mary Margaret let out simultaneous sighs of relief and soon, the baby was being placed on Mary Margaret’s chest. She looked down at her, tears pouring down her face.
Mary Margaret had held plenty of babies in her lifetime, but none that were as tiny as her daughter. Emma squirmed on her chest, covered in gunk and all that, but Mary Margaret still thought she was the sweetest thing in the world. An overwhelming sensation of love filled her heart as she looked into her eyes. This was her baby, her daughter. The child she had fought so hard to conceive and waited on, prayed for. Finally, she was here and it wasn’t what Mary Margaret had imagined, it was more.
“Oh my God.” Tears fell down Mary Margaret’s face. “She’s perfect.”
“She’s an angel,” David whispered.
His finger stroked his daughter’s tiny cheek and he felt tears fall down his own. He was a father, a father to the most precious baby girl there ever was. His heart was swelling up with love and protection, he would never let a single bad thing happen to this tiny being, who now depended on him for everything in life. This beautiful baby girl would depend on him, look up to him. If she preferred men, he would hopefully be the role model that she looked at. He had dreams for them, daddy/daughter dates, sneaking ice cream and having serious talks about the future. All his life, he had dreamt of having a son, but now he had his daughter and he wouldn’t trade her for the world.
David kissed Mary Margaret’s forehead. “Thank you for her,” he said, softly.
“No, thank you. I couldn’t have done any of this without you.”
Eventually, a nurse came and took Emma to clean her up. The new parents were left feeling suddenly empty and nervous, not wanting her out of their sight. They were briefly distracted by her delivering the afterbirth, but then they were back to waiting for her to be returned to them. Emma was cleaned up and weighed, before being wrapped up in a blanket and walked back over.
“Well, I’d say you have a miracle baby here,” the nurse said. “She’s 4 pounds, 10 ounces and seems to be breathing fine on her own. As long as things stay this fine, I don’t think she’ll need any NICU time.”
Both let out another simultaneous sigh of relief and the nurse gave the baby to David to hold for the first time. He carefully held her, clearly scared.
“You’re not going to drop her,” Mary Margaret assured him.
“What if I break her? She’s so tiny, I’ve never held a baby so tiny before.”
“You’re fine,” she assured him. “Look at her, she’s not crying, she’s completely happy in her daddy’s arms.”
“Daddy,” he repeated. “I’m a daddy. I…I still can’t believe this is real.”
“I know. We’ve been talking about this for over a year and finally…well…here she is.”
“She’s amazing.” He sat back down next to her and his eyes returned to his daughter. “She’s definitely an Emma.”
“Emma Ruth Nolan,” Mary Margaret agreed. “Her name means whole…and that’s what I feel right now.”
“So do I.”
Soon, Mary Margaret and Emma were moved to a new room where they’d stay for the next few days for observation. They had plenty of visitors, the first being Gold and Belle. They had swung by the store and got Emma a few preemie outfits since they doubted she’d be able to fit into her newborn right away. Kathryn and Jim came not long after, with news that they were having twins, a boy and a girl. Ruby and Dorothy followed Ashley and Thomas. One person they hadn’t been expecting…Granny. She didn’t come until long after everyone else had and smiled at the two as soon as she entered the room.
“She looks like the two of you,” she mused.
“All newborns look the same,” David said.
Granny shook her head. “Well, she looks like the both of you. Anyway, I came here to bring you two a gift.”
“Granny, you already got us all those clothes,” Mary Margaret protested.
“Oh hush, this is something I do for all the babies.”
David took Emma from Mary Margaret so she could open the present. She gasped at what she found inside, a beautifully woven baby blanket. Most of it was white, but it was trimmed in royal purple ribbon. “Emma” had also been stitched in the corner, in the same color as the ribbon.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.
“Every child needs a proper baby blanket.”
“Granny, thank you so much.” She leaned up as much as she could without feeling any pain to give her a hug. “I have a feeling that Emma is going to love this when she’s older.”
Granny nodded, taking in the picture before her. “You two fit,” she said, finally. “You flow well together. I’m just glad you stopped being idiots in time for the baby to be born.”
Mary Margaret and David laughed, supposing she was right. Soon, Granny was gone and it was just the two of them again. Emma began fussing in her father’s arms and Mary Margaret held out her own to take her, knowing she was ready to eat.
“I don’t think she’ll have a problem gaining that weight,” she said. “She’s always hungry.”
David smiled, sitting back down beside her. “A chip off the old block.”
