...And yet somehow not really the other kind either because despite it's title there is LITTLE TO NO SLEEPING TOGETHER GOING ON AT ALL except at the very end TᴖT TᴖT TᴖT My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Ok ok I'm obviously being overdramatic. Misleading name aside the CD is enjoyable and cute just...not at all in the way I was expecting (that being something akin to the Sleeping Vampire Scenario from Vandead Carnival but, alas, no). But oh well, I got to hear Ruki be all deredere towards the end so it's fine I guess lol

Ideally I'd create an actual translation to go along with this (I might do so sometime in the future, unless someone more competent does it first) but for now I've put a summary of the story under the cut. I ask that you please have mercy on me though, I am not used to writing this kind of stuff and it probably shows >﹏<;

[Please note that there may be mistakes or I might've misinterpreted parts of the CD. I apologize in advance (╥﹏╥)]

The CD starts with Ruki encountering Yui, who is carrying an unusually large package. Curious, Ruki asks her what she's doing, and learns that Kou has tasked her with delivering the package to him (Ruki). Ruki is somewhat perplexed as he doesn't recall requesting anything of the kind. Yui suggests that it might be a surprise gift, but Ruki is skeptical. He wants to ask Kou directly but is reminded that he is currently away on a location shoot. With a resigned sigh, Ruki decides that he has no choice but to open the package in Kou's absence. He asks Yui to hand the package to him, and then invites her to come along to his room to find out what's inside. She eagerly accepts, and they head off together.

In Ruki's room they take a seat (on what I assume to be the sofa) and open the package. Inside, there are various wooden pieces resembling parts of something, along with a letter from Kou. Ruki reads the letter aloud and it's revealed that the package contains a (*drumroll*)... puzzle! And not just any puzzle but a ✨️3D puzzle✨️. In the letter Kou encourages Ruki and Yui to assemble the parts together to discover what they will form. Since he's got spare time on his hands Ruki decides to have a go at it, with Yui joining in.

After a while of working on the puzzle, Ruki asks Yui how her part is coming along. She shows him, and he comments that she's doing better than he anticipated. He helps her out with some difficult pieces before instructing her to continue on her own. Yui asks Ruki if this is his first time putting together a 3D puzzle, and he replies that he's tried some before, but that this particular type is new to him. Yui is eager to learn what it is they are building, and Ruki, not wanting to dampen her anticipation, pretends he still can't quite figure out what the finished thing will be either (awww ♡). Ruki suggests that rather than moving their mouths they should focus on moving their hands as with their current pace the puzzle won't be finished. He reasons that the faster they move the sooner they'll have their curiosity satisfied. Yui agrees to work faster and Ruki promises to do the same.

They pick up the pace and eventually the puzzle is done. The assembled pieces have formed a small foreign castle, and Ruki reveals that he suspected as much from the start. He surmises that Kou must have remembered their expressed desire to visit such a castle after seeing one by chance on one of his TV shows. Ruki acknowledges Kou's attempt to make the two of them happy in his own way. He praises Yui for doing a great job despite not knowing what they were actually assembling, noting that the part she made fits perfectly into the castle.

However, there is no response from Yui, causing a puzzled (ahaha) Ruki to remark on her lack of reaction to something she had been so excited about. Turning his head to the side to look at her, Ruki discovers that she's fallen asleep with her head resting on his shoulder. He comments on the privilege of such a sleeping position but acknowledges that it's understandable she'd fall asleep since it's past their usual bedtime. She had seemed so engrossed in their work that he didn't notice her drifting off.

Ruki carries Yui to his bed and gently places her there, saying that she should have just told him that she was tired. He realizes that she likely made an effort to stay awake until the end, though she ultimately fell asleep. Deciding that it would be a good time for him to go to sleep as well, he tidies up and hides the little castle under the table, so that he'll be able to see Yui's reaction to it in the morning.

Returning to the bed, Ruki asks Yui to scoot over to make room for him, but she's sleeping too soundly to hear. He lies down next to her and (in true Mukami Ruki fashion) begins observing Yui's sleeping face. He notes how relaxed her expression is and wonders if it's because she's tired out from using her brain (lmao rude). Ruki then ponders what kind of face Yui will make when she wakes up—will she feel guilty for falling asleep before the puzzle was finished, or will she be surprised and embarrassed to find him laying next to her? Regardless of what her reaction will be, Ruki knows that it'll be enjoyable to witness. But he's certain she'll be happy once she sees the completed puzzle and admits to himself that he really wants to see that expression on her face. He's aware that it's out of character for him, and thinks that he might even have trouble falling asleep from the excitement (asdfsdjfj this is too fucking cute I can't)

Ruki decides that he should thank Kou for the useful gift by making him his favorite food for dinner tomorrow. The mention of dinner causes Yui to stir (what a relatable Queen), and Ruki teases her for being greedy. He assures the still-sleeping girl that she doesn't need to worry; he'll make her favorite dish as well as a reward for her hard work on the puzzle.

The CD ends with Ruki saying how he looks forward to seeing Yui's reaction the following day.

This is from your young blood post i saw: I’ve heard people didn’t like the fact that rejet made ayato out to be the adam but i don’t really understand as to why?? Wouldn’t this add more depth to the franchise. For example, Subaru, he’s known for openly hating his father so I was thinking, doesn’t that add a lot more drama to his route or atleast subtle irony? Also Reiji, he admires his father but isn’t adam. I think the young blood chapter was amazing and adds onto the whole like semi forbidden love?? or dark romance bit.

Aside from his marketing appeal, I genuinely believe Ayato is “the chosen one” because he possesses innate traits that others either never had or lost at a much younger age. Despite his life being a living hell, Ayato, as a child, was never deliberately rude to anyone, and remained selfless and compassionate. In YB, after discovering that Laito and Kanato are missing, he’s willing to risk his own life to go back for them, even knowing the danger he could face. Later, when he’s used as bait and his absence goes unnoticed by his brothers after meeting again, his first thought upon reaching the fig tree is “I don’t know what happened to Shu and Subaru… no way they got eaten, right?”. Even after he nearly got killed, Ayato’s instinct is to worry about his brothers’ safety.

What Karlheinz says to him here could also be a factor. Ayato's ability to continue cherishing life, despite how badly he was treated by people around him, and his mental resilience in the face of what he's endured, make him the perfect candidate.

I agree that other characters had a stronger connection to the Karlheinz plot and it would have been more interesting, but I kind of like how Ayato is positioned as this special and different being in canon, even though no one—not even the characters themselves—can really explain why. I guess what makes Ayato “Adam” to Karlheinz is simply the fact that he’s Ayato. 😂😂

I would like to hear your thoughts on the DF diaboys routes you have played at this point.

yessir!! under the cut:

Shu: Shu's DF route is an exercise in meeting him where he is. We know Shu loves his family, but we have to understand it isn't easy for him to show it. We're right at the precipice of a big change in Shu and Reiji's relationship, but we have to accept that acting the way Reiji wants him to just isn't what's best for Shu. Yui wants confirmation of Shu's affection for her, but she has to learn that he shows his affection in other ways. It's kind of like this route is showcasing Shu's flaws and you're going, "That's okay! I like Shu because he's Shu!" so I think it's sweet. Take your time, Shu! ...If I had to complain about this route, I'd say that we spend so long away from the other characters that it gets lonely. I guess that's the point, though...I just don't really find all the "hiding from everyone else" scenes very exciting after a while. We could've spoken to Reiji more, and I honestly feel like Shu and Reiji have bigger breakthroughs in other routes, so this one feels like it's missing a big scene with the Beatrix bros.

Ayato: If you had asked me when I had just played HDB and MB, I would have told you, "Never in a MILLION YEARS will I feel anything other than hatred for Cordelia," but well!!! Surprise!!! This one will make you feel things other than hatred for Cordelia, whether you like it or not. I truly understand how the triplets felt when they said they loved and hated her. The situation is too complicated for me to get into it very much here, but in short I'll say that I really liked the direction they took with the plot of this route, and I came out of it feeling like Ayato and Yui took a well-earned step forward. Absolutely loved this one. So proud of both of them. Whenever I play through the DF Sakamaki prologue, it makes me feel cruel if I don't pick Ayato's route lmao

Laito: If you are an angst lover like me then you will eat this shit up. It's an extremely bad time for every character involved. It hurt so good. I had to spend 70% of this route convincing Laito not to kill himself. In this route, Laito discovers a fact about his father that changes his outlook on his entire life, like every single thing about his life, and the performance that Daisuke Hirakawa gives is like.. It's pure art idk what to tell you. Reading this route is not good enough, you need the audio. I was scared, I wanted to cry, and as a triplet lover there were high points too, but my heart ached for the entire route, even through the good ending! I like that even the obligatory fanservice scenes don't let you forget how terrible the situation is! Strongly strongly strongly recommend

Yuma: Alas, I can only give you a super biased review of this one. It's my favorite route because it has so many good Shu/Yuma scenes. This route is our last bit of "Shu avoids Yuma and keeps secrets from him for his own good!" drama before Yuma finally gets the whole truth about his childhood. We get the cute flashback scenes, Yuma gets some awful nightmares and has some panic attacks, there's a little of everything! :D Even Zweig is there and he and Yuma are super cool, and if you know anything about Lost Eden then you know how hilarious that is. Anyway, this all culminates in THE YUMA BEST FRIEND MONOLOGUE which is one of my favorite dialovers scenes, period, because it makes me so happy. It feels soooo good to watch the arson recovery trio...recover from the arson. 10/10. Shuuma shippers, this one is required reading.

Carla: I'm definitely not shaming you if this route is to your taste, but it certainly wasn't to mine :') Most diaboys talk down to you, but Carla talks down to you to such a degree that I started getting offended over stuff I've never been offended about before. Like, "What do you mean you don't like the taste of my blood?! My blood is fucking delicious!" lol. I am not into all the forced pregnancy stuff, I am not into the demon racism stuff, I am not into how often Yui is reminded that she has no family and no one will come save her. I personally found Carla to be unbearable until he collapsed and started the process of dying. Then he got all sensitive and lonely and I was like "ok I can deal with him now." The ending isn't very satisfying either (What do you mean sucking Yui's blood will stop him from dying for now? He's been sucking her blood this whole time and his symptoms got way worse.) and Carla's blood sucking noises made me want to take my headphones off and throw them away (sorry toshiyuki morikawa I respect you so much toshiyuki morikawa) soooooooooo.........I didn't like it. I grew to like Carla around CL so don't be sad if you like him, ok? He's my friend now, but this route is still just unpleasant to me hgfghsdf

Shin: I know I said I hated the forced pregnancy talk and the demon racism plans and I did hate them, believe me, but Shin's route was successful in getting me to like him. I love that they put him in jail and beat the shit out of him, that was such a good scene and I really feel like my tastes are finally being represented lmao. Because it's his introductory route, he's pretty rough around the edges (true for every diaboy—everyone is a huge jerk in their introductory route) but there was still a lot to enjoy! The flashback scenes were fun (dare I say...he was...cute?!) and when put together with Carla's, the Tsukinamis have a super interesting story & dynamic together, and it fits the themes of dialovers really well. The differences with Carla's route, to me at least, are that Shin's scenes feel more like "playing with a diaboy" even when he gets mean, Shin has the added appeal of being teasable and of being a BIG FLUFFY DOG, and of course, Shin's blood sucking scenes didn't make me want to die. I'm clearly in the minority here, though, because Shin is at the bottom of every popularity poll I see lol...Anyway, it didn't make me LOSE MY SHIT like some other routes did, but I had fun playing this one!!

Shirayuki (King of Fighters)

A clone of Kula Diamond who was created by NESTS to hunt down K' and Kula but later was swayed by the two of them and decided to join them afterwards. Able to wield blue fire and ice, depending on combo and DPS. (Brothaaaaa, idk what to do with you-)

Shiroi Masamune (Super Robot Wars/Taisen)

An artificial human pilot from a Newtype-inspired super soldier program under a pharmaceutical company called Epsilon with a lack of emotions. She was able to flee when a scientist responsible for her finally knew why Shiroi and her sibling units were created for. The pilot of Tsuyakeshi-Fuyu, a Personal Trooper with the spirit of an ice deity possessing her destroyed PTX-08R: Huckebein. (Time to play SRW again..*grabs controller*)

Nezuko Kurogami & Marcus Junius Brutus (Fate)

Ah these two. Like you read in the name, Nezuko is the Master of a Saver Servant by the name of Marcus Junius Brutus. I don't remember the further details into it however but it follows heavily the plot of the Chalice stuff where everyone is fighting one another and stuff for a big thing. They do get a lot intimate though later on. (Ngl, I wanna remake them for something else now lmao since I dropped Fate when their shit grew-)

Joan Blauer (Diabolik Lovers)

(omg, I actually liked this thing back then???)

Ahem- Well, this sort of follows the plot of DiaLovers where Joan is more to guide Yui while she searches for Cordelia, her sister figure after she was essentially trapped for...a hundred years or so(?), Joan isn't a vampire per se but sort of cursed to stay alive no matter how much she tried while she do that, she deals with Yui and the Sakamakis, Mukamis and Tsukinamis. (Legitly Yui's bodyguard, poor Joan getting martyred here too xD)

Maihime Suou (Mirai Nikki/Future Diary)

Essentially a sort of extended stuff revolving Yukiteru Amano doesn't want to become a God anymore because he misses Yuno, so he restarted the game with Maihime becomes the main lead and a man named Kaein Kurosu (who later becomes Maihime's love interest, legit dunno how that went there but-), Maihime won, revives Kaein and they kinda effed off happily ever after. (..nah no. The design for Maihime was hella neat but the character isn't worth reviving to me. *zetsubo*)

NiTE (Devil Survivor 2)

Not a thoroughly thought character here. She is essentially doing an Olympic torch thing, replacing Alcor as the Sword of Polaris with a different protagonist (id remember the name, halp-), follows the same DS2 plot and she lets herself be murdered to help the protagonist. (Yeah.. she's a heckin flop. Not worth reviving to me.. oTL)

Kagami Sankenshin (Highschool of the Dead)

A biker/racer girl (imagine Beta Claire from RE2) who is actually like an experiment from the lab that started it all. Kinda like Alice from the RE live action movies but watered down. One thing I remember is, she is good with snipers. (Girl, I wanna remake you for something else.. but I dunno what franchise..)

Schwarze Rosendamme (Ib)

Simply a Guterna's drawing that came to life. She is a skilled swordswoman who didn't have malice intentions towards Ib and Garry. Thing is, she never told them that she was a painting, simply someone who wanted to guide the two of them out of the gallery to safety. (Schwarze's look actually inspired me to draw Aurelle, my first DnD character.)

Aikawa Hibiko (Digital Devil Saga)

I think I made her on a whim when my partner made a DDS character back then. But the story I gave for Hibiko was that she is a recon for her tribe and suddenly kinda got blessed/cursed with a demon form like any other character in DDS are. (Maybe I'll use her design for something else.. decisions.. decisions...)

Anri Akamine (Original Work)

I created Anri during the whole isekai genre craze back then. She is a game developer that died due to overworking. Her powers are complete elemental manipulation, high appraisal skills and actually own high level crafting skills (she spent three roleplay sessions creating a small fridge, go figure xD) and very skilled with swords apparently. (I do use Anri from time to time... When I'm chatting with anyone from an isekai franchise on c.ai)

Mercedes 'Mercy' Harrison (Castlevania)

Mercy is essentially a Belmont, but her birth was hidden so no one would hunt for her thus the Harrison family name. Despite looking skittish and shy, she is a very skilled fighter with her whip and daggers. She also knows a little magic as well that later grows as she spends more time with Richter. (..miss Mercy, I legit forgotten about you oml... Welpp.. time to find a way to bring you back..)

Shuuma HCs Dialovers

My personal Shuuma Headcanons uwu

Yuma has a bunch of Merrygold flowers around the garden because it is Shu's birthmonth flower

Shu repeatedly composed songs for Yuma about how much he misses him and after they met, how much he loves him. He never showed them to anyone though, they are his little secret

Yuma takes the lead role in their relationship because Shu can not be bothered to do shit

They have three dogs a Golden retriever named Ririe, a border collie named Eddie and a kesshond named yuu

They also technically have a cat they feed outside but dont know who it belongs too

Well until they moved onto a little farm and got chickens too

Shu, never getting to really interact with chicken as a kid, finds them incredibly cute

Shu sometimes gives Yuma a glass to open because "He cant open it himself :(((" (he just wants to see his muscles tensing) but god forbid Yuma takes a bit too much of their blanket, all his Vampire prince strength goes into stealing it completely for himself

So they had to buy a second one

When they were still kids they used to kiss each other goodbye and when Yuma slowly got his memories back he kissed Shu on the cheek. Completely shocked he tried to explain himself but Shu was like "It is ok...I dont...hate it" (credits to @natacular for that one)

You’re death is more or less an accident, he got ahead of himself. Beating the shit out of you, spitting slurs and degrading you was his favorite pass time. One hit was too hard, though, it knocked the air out you and you slammed back into the wall, bounce of that into the table where your head hits the corner. He watched you as your eyes roll back into your head, lips twisted into a smirk, “You won’t be missed.”

Carla:

You’re not even close to safe. He will drink your blood until you’re a slither away from dying, pulse slowing as you struggle against him. He was not gentle, pissed off was evident when he tore away from you with skin between your teeth. Either way you will die of blood lose, from him or the growing flesh wounds. Absolutely will prolong your punishment, death would be a gift after he’s done with you. The only thing you are good for is your body and now he feels like it’s tainted, not worth continuing his blood line. And he tells you that, every single time he’s taking the last of what you offer. Eventually he grew bored and just drove his teeth into your vital organ on your neck, moaning as the blood gush freely, “A pitiful thing you are. Disgusting.”

Hi! I saw your post about DL lightnovels (something that I would also like. I want to learn more about the world, Yui and see the boys develop with one another more often but it feels like there's never space for that in the games or cds) and it got me thinking about how I wonder if Rejet might be trying to expand the DL-verse vertically now that it seems like they've created a spin-off series to help branch things out (The Carnelian Blood thing). I am curious as to what their plans are for the main cast still bc it seemed like minus some of the newer boys (Kino, the Tsukinamis) everyone else seems to have hit their peak (also were else can they go after "became the Vampire King")

it's a tough one, right? everyone's stories have branched off so much that it's difficult to create a game concept that can unite everyone again. they had to follow up LE with an alternate universe game lol. and romantically speaking, kino is so far behind everyone else! as it stands, his story feels very incomplete!

since they've got the demon clans and all the political tension that comes with them, I would be super intrigued to see them making proper dialovers spinoffs. (but I'd miss my vampire/founder friends....!!)

I still think dialovers' next game should focus on yui and the church. the church and the vampire hunter priests are always in the background of games, causing all kinds of terrible problems with their anti-vampire weapons, but they never get to be the actual main villains. I made a long-ass post about the sort of game it would be over here!!

Ah, Happy Easter!

I have to confess that Easter is one of my favorite holidays! The triumph of life over death,the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the time spent with our families…all of these give me such a happy feeling…!

Speaking about plans…When I was still living with my father, he would start the religious ceremony in the morning and we would organize the egg hunt together exactly after it, so as children could have fun and get some chocolate in the end! Oh, I forgot to mention that I was the one in charge with painting the eggs! I’m not the best artist myself but…I suppose the decorations I tried to make on them were pretty cute.

(I can’t deny that reminding myself of this kinda got me nostalgic, all these moments seem so far away now…)

Even so, much to my surprise, the boys actually seemed to prepare for Easter as well! That’s a bit odd taking account they’re…vampires after all, but I’m grateful they willingly decided to celebrate it in order to make me happy…!
