Fate is a very heavy word to say to me long before I’ve had my morning tea. This morning, I awoke to a knock on the door from a very frantic Priestess requesting my aid. Apparently a collection of small gods had led her to my apartment in the city and that it was all rather urgent. I like to think of myself as a helpful sort, and the Priestess was very insistent on my coming, so I agreed.
I did not expect a day's journey to my old village. The place was just as I had escaped it, a complete ruin with soot covered paths and crumbling buildings. Just as it had been 8 years ago when the King had slayed the Slobbering God.
The Priestess urged me to help her and her collections of gods in finding… something. The details were rather vague and, after an hour of digging through traumatic memories, I had all but given up. Right until I had found the girl.
Underneath the floorboards of an old home, there was a small puppy. Nude and very clearly malnourished. I had supposed this was what the Priestess had in mind?  She must have met the girl and wanted confirmation on if she was in fact from my village. I didn’t recognize her, and certainly a dog in a village of hares would have stood out like a sore paw pad.
I asked the girl her name, and she said that she did not know. I asked the girl how old she was, and she said that she did not know. I asked the girl if she would like to come with me, and she said that she was afraid of hurting me.
When I found the Priestess again, she told me the truth. The full truth.
The girl was the Slobbering God. After Her slaying, Her soul had been revived, reborn. The small and forgotten gods had been taking care of her within the rubble of the dead village for the last eight years. And now the Gods had whispered to the Priestess of my fate, my destiny. The girl needed a mother, someone to protect and nurture and love her, in order to prevent her soul from reawakening and bringing about the end of the world.
I really wished I had the time for that morning tea.
The Priestess and I took the girl back into the city, which I thought was a rather unintelligent idea. What if someone recognized her? What if it overwhelmed her? What if she hurt someone?
The Priestess told me to have more faith in her than that. It’s difficult to sympathize with a strange child who once murdered my friends and family.
We took her to my home, for a bath, clothes and a meal. The girl was starving and ate everything I offered her. I can see her ribcage and the clothes that the Priestess had found hung off of her frame. At least she wasn’t filthy anymore.
As night fell, we allowed the girl to rest in a comfortable bed for the first time in her life. She fell asleep so fast, I wondered when the last time she slept was. Meanwhile, the two of us (and the many small and forgotten gods that followed the Priestess like a shepherd’s herd of bumbles)  sat out in my living room with tea and a warm hearth.
The Priestess explained to me that come morning, I had to flee the city with the girl and never look back. I was to pack my things as fast as possible and I was to travel, fleeing towns and cities and anyone that might do her harm, until she reached adulthood, when our destinies would split. I asked her to come with us, but she told me that her fate lies within the city walls.
I do not want to be traveling with a terrible god under the guise of a loving mother and ward for the next ten years, but what else am I to do? I seek some sort of answer, or perhaps this is some form of prayer, that I can be rid of the child someday soon.

hello! just curious, how do you plot out your stories? (for example, what have you done to plan out the wings au? do you have it all in your head? do you plan it out on paper or in a doc specifically for it? do you just go with the flow? sorry if this is a lot of questions lol i'm just trying to convey my point-)
hello, synonym!! lovely to see you again! I'd love to share my process!
as I explain my personal methods (again, personal, just how I do things!), I'll use the wings au as an example because i know you've read it and it'll just be easier over all. but essentially, yes to all of the above, just with different parts of the story!
my progression is: chaotic doc, background (as needed), basic written plot, expansion on the plot, any other details needed, and then just write things! but don't worry, I'll provide more detail, i say as if i'm capable of being concise
(putting below a readmore for simplicity)
chaotic doc: so, the very first thing I do when i have a story is open up a doc, and write down everything i know about it in little bullet points and rambling sentences, just basic information with no organization. the organizing can come later, right now I just want to get as much of what's in my head onto the paper as possible.
I type out the basic premise of the story or the few things I know about how I want it to go, the things I know I want to remember later, things I'd need to think about to set it up, etc. for the wings au, this was details like everyone's wings (things to remember later), how they got those wings and a sentence or two about what the world was like now (things I needed to think about to set it up), a little blurb about where the story would start. this is less writing details about the story, and more noting down the details I want to figure out later in the expansion. i find it works best to type this out because i'm a much faster typer than I am at physical writing, which allows me to follow the flow of my thoughts a lot better and go back and change things.
background: background prepares me for the next step, but the amount of effort I put into this section depends on how complex my story is. it basically means write down (we've moved to pencil and paper now, but this could be digital too if you prefer) anything you need to know in order to set up the rest of your story. what do you need to know in order to tell the story you need to and to get you where you want to be? for the wings au, the background was that the world had been overrun with monsters and everyone was living underground now. the neverseen had been defeated, or so they thought, coming back later. all these things that essentially prepared me to get to the plot. it told me where the story was happening and the emotional/physical environment everything else would happen under. if you have a more worldbuilding heavy world, this step might be a little more complex, or if there's something very specific with the characters you need as context beforehand.
sometimes the readers will be aware of pieces of the background, and it's even necessary for them to know--for example, you all knowing the elven world is in the middle of a monster apocalypse and living underground; if you didn't know, the rest of the story wouldn't make any sense. but there may be things you write down that are just for you to know, personal notes. for example, I have notes written about how the monsters came to be, more specifically, that you all haven't been made aware of and may never be. planning this out is for you, so if there's something you want to remind yourself to keep in mind while writing, this could be a good place. but now that we know the world we're writing in, we can move on
basic plot: for me, I struggle to figure out where to take a story, and if I don't have the basic concept laid out before I start writing, I ended up with really weird stories that completely deviate from what i wanted (I say this from experience). so I break it down into the bare essentials. literally as basic as I can be. there are five crucial parts of a plot: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. just those five. for each of those, i write--writing, because it takes more time (allows me to think) and feels more organized to me, but you can do it differently--just the general idea I have for each section. just as few words as possible. detail comes later. for the wings au I literally wrote "they get wings" for rising action. having read the wings au, you know just how simplified that is.
one things that might help is consider how you would explain this idea to someone in one or two sentences. you just want to make sure you have a beginning, middle, end, and the transition between them. from there you've got the skeleton of your story, and everything else can fit itself into this idea.
expansion: now that you have the skeleton, it's time to fill in some of the more essential anatomy. this is where you add the specifics. for me, i write this physically in bullet points in a journal of some kind. I take the first section, and write down how the story is going to start. where am I going to begin this journey. for the wings au I wrote "beginning: sneaking into breeding facility to destroy monsters. problem: caught/monster breaks loose." if you remember this is essentially the events of the first chapter but in two sentences. I'm giving enough detail that I know what I'm going to write, but not so much it's going to be stifling to follow my exact notes when I actually get to writing. this will be different for different people, so you may want more or less detail than I provided, I'm just giving an example of how I did it.
I continue this for the rest of the plot, but that doesn't mean every single little detail that will ever happen is planned out. I'm not patient enough to be super thorough with every little thing, so I go long enough until I have a solid understanding of what I'm going to start with when I'm writing, or just until I'm bored and can't deal with planning anymore. for me, that meant I was more detailed when planning from the mission in the facility to them getting to the abandoned gnomish village, as those would be some of the first things I would be writing about. after that, I got more vague and just touched on some of the key part of each of those five sections. I take those two/three words and turn them into two/three bullet points. I also didn't want to be too specific with the later details, because I knew i'd be influenced by things as I wrote and would be inspired to fill that out.
any other details: this is kind of any afterthoughts you might have or details you need to keep i mind that aren't necessarily plot. you may have a lot of these, or you may have none. for me, this was where I wrote down what kinds of wings and other animalistic traits each of the characters had (yes, I wrote them down again). it's not strictly plot, but it does affect the rest of the story. this is also where I write anything I forgot to when going through the first time, and then i can draw a little arrow pointing towards where it fits in to the rest of the story or is relevant (which is part of why I like the writing aspect, but this is entirely achievable on a doc). another example from the au is me writing "domestic" to the side and pointing it back to my notes about the gnomish village, because while it wasn't essential to moving the plot forward, i wanted to touch on some aspects of domestic live with the ten of them while they were there.
just write things: now that you have all this planning done (good job, you!) you can get into the writing aspect. you've already decided your beginning and know where you want to go, so this is the part where you just starting putting words on the page. it can be pretty daunting to just look at a blank page, so if you'd like, start a paragraph in. skip the first paragraph and just start in the middle of something else--you can add back what's missing later. I personally note things that I want to come back to inside [brackets like this], and that can be words, sentences, entire paragraphs. i use the square ones specifically because I don't use them in my writing unlike (these parentheses), and then I can search the document for them all at once and see all the places I need to go back.
this is also where the "just in my head" and "make it up as I go" part comes into place. you have a pretty good idea of what you're doing, but you're going to have ideas as you write, so sometimes you just follow the flow of your brain and write things you could've never even planned for. and if you're interacting with others as you're going (like I'm talking about theories with you all while writing future chapters) then you may be inspired by them to add things to the story. originally, I wasn't going to even have any messages from Bronte or Oralie, but now because I saw what some of the people reading it were picking up on, I realized the potential there and added them in on a whim
and sometimes when you get stuck, the best way to get yourself out of that is to just add something random, which can spiral off and affect the rest of the story. I've said it before, but the dragons were not planned. I'd actually seen a piece of writing advice months ago that if you're stuck, change the weather. so I was stuck and made a sudden rainstorm, but then I needed an explanation as to how things got so wet so fast because I'd mentioned clear skies earlier. so in my attempt to explain it, dragons came to exist. writing is a process, so don't limit yourself to everything you've written. you'll be inspired along the way, so try to take it in stride.
one final note: as much as you plan, this is not going to be a definite map for how the story will go. maybe something makes sense as you're planning it out, but when you get to actually writing it makes no sense as all and you need to change things. that's fine! this kind of a plan is just to get you prepared and keep you afloat amongst this ocean of words trapped in your head that you want to transcribe. if something isn't working, change it! in my original written plan for the wings au they weren't going to run away for a few weeks, instead sneaking out for an hour or two at a time over those few weeks because they couldn't stand being underground anymore, until Linh was actually the first one to make contact with a creature and realize it didn't immediately want to kill her. but because she's not the narrator of this story, I couldn't write it the way i wanted, so I gave that to sophie in the tree.
this is just my approach to my more complicated stories! for some of the really quick ones, I just open a doc and start going. this kind of thinking keeps me organized so that I'm doing the idea the most justice. but just because it works for me doesn't mean it'll work for everyone. if it does work for you, great! but if there are parts you need to modify for yourself, you are more than encouraged to do so. personally, if I could only chose one part of this process to rely on, it would be the basic plot. that's the key to everything for me, but for others it might be something different.
I hope this helps with whatever it is you're writing!! I wish you luck and look forward to seeing whatever it is (should you chose to share it, no pressure)!! if you'd like more of my process on how I write it consistently and update on a schedule, I'd be more than happy to talk about that too!

RITA SKEETER, aka THE FEMME FATALE is (24-26) years old and a HALF-BLOOD alumni of SLYTHERIN. Her allegiance is THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, and she is currently OPEN. Potential faceclaims include Lula Cotton-Frapier, Julie Garner, Troian Bellisario.
AESTHETICS
pencil shavings, stargazing alone, messy ponytails, fully filled notebooks, silk robes, bullet journaling, nails tapping on a glass, determined eyes, people watching, vision boards, an extra laptop charger in your bag, oversized jeans, the smell of newspapers, the sound of typing, don’t stop until you have the story, puff sleeved tops, endless meeting spots, skyscrapers, holding onto ethics, honey boba, looking out the window, social activism, down feathers, dramatic entrances, never selling out, pink manicured nails, never ending coffee cups
MOMENTS
At four years old, Rita was left wondering why her mother and father were constantly fighting. Too young to fully understand their words, but old enough to know something was wrong, she did everything she could to fade into the background. If she didn’t cause problems, if she was always on her best behavior, maybe they wouldn’t have a reason to fight any longer. However, despite being on her best behavior, despite not making so much as a peep out of line, her father leaves with a cold look at her mother and a “I can’t believe I married a mudblood without even knowing it. You can keep your tainted child,” and at four years old she doesn’t understand entirely what the means, but it leaves an ache in her chest that she can’t quite explain.
When she’s eleven years old she gets her Hogwarts letter, despite her father’s hateful claims. She was sorted into Slytherin, and she couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride at being able to start attending to her studies. Not only that, but she was placed in the house known for being selective, and it makes her feel a little vindicated. Having grown up in the wizarding world, it wasn’t wholly new to her, but there was more to magic than she had ever fully realized. Eleven years old, and she already understood the most power a person had is their words. They could make or break the people around them, and more importantly, they could persuade people to feel specific ways. Rita knew that to really make people hear her, she needn’t always speak, but instead use her gift of writing.
Sixteen and a war was brewing that might not threaten her directly, but does implicate the people she loves most. Her father’s words rung heavy in her ears, and she wanted to make him and anyone that spews such hate pay. Leaving her and her mother over something as trivial as blood status was something she’d never forgive him for, and if she wanted the Death Eaters to fall, well who could blame her. Having seen what such injustices have cost her mother, she refused to be a doormat about the war. Still, she wasn’t a soldier, not in the traditional sense. For her, the battles were won with a quill, ink, and paper. Rita knew that she was going to see the media used for something productive, and she planned to be the one wielding it.
Twenty four and Rita took a risk that paid off more than she could ever expect. Having written for several papers, including a featured column in the Prophet, she decided to open up a paper of her own. Not wanting to be constricted with writing pieces that were neutral enough for the public, she built a company on her own and hired a team of people she trusted to help run it. Both digital and print, The Phoenix, covered everything from politics to social movements to health and wellbeing. Rita wanted nothing more than to give the world the truth, and despite her political agenda supporting the Order, she ensured that the only things she printed were hard facts, backed up by evidence and good hard journalism. Rita was determined to do something good for the world, even if it put a target on her back.
TRAITS
Uncompromising
Fervent
Advantageous
Incisive
Meddlesome
Recalcitrant
CONNECTIONS
ALEXANDER MCKINNON - If there’s one thing Rita can spot from a mile away, it’s secrecy. The oldest McKinnon is clearly more than he appears to be, and Rita wants to know more. With Sebastian’s recent betrayal, she wants to know just how deep in the pockets Alexander McKinnon is with the Death Eaters. There’s a story there, she knows it, and she wants to expose him for who he truly is, not the facade he plays up to the public. Underneath all of that golden boy energy, she knows there is darkness hiding.
SURI SHACKLEBOLT - Their friendship was unlikely, but one that Rita held onto tightly with both hands. Suri was one of the first people that looked at her, really looked at her, and saw her as she was. Ever since Hogwarts, the two of them have been two peas in a pod, and Rita knows she can be her most vulnerable self around the other woman. There’s nothing in the world she wouldn’t do for Suri.
FABIAN PREWETT - Despite the fact that their friendship consisted of more bantering than anything else, she knew that underneath it all there was genuine care there. For all their sniping, they got along better than most, and there was little she wouldn’t do for Fabian, and he in return for her. Their friendship was one that grew steadily over the years, and now, she knew she could count on him to be there always. Still there was no one she knew to lighten her spirits more than him.
ARTEMIS WOOD - When it came to Artemis, she despised the other woman greatly. It wasn’t so much that she disagreed with Rita on every topic, but that her opinions and views were harmful and full of hateful rhetoric. Rita couldn’t stand the propaganda edge that came with her writing, and she had little respect for her as a writer, because of the viewpoints she decided to write behind. In her eyes, nothing valuable could come from hearing the Death Eaters side of things, not when it caused this much harm.

10 Top Products To Sell Online
Ecommerce can be tough if you have zero idea about how this vast marketplace works, but with the right mindset and analogy you can succeed and earn enormously high profits within the first six months!
The changing working norms are growing in popularity and also promoting maximum working industries to have virtual business setups. All the new entrants in selling services and products online need to research the potential target market thoroughly.
For starters, you need to have patience and an attitude to thrive and learn from your mistakes to survive in this competitive online business industry for long time. Let us begin with the three most important rules for ecommerce: you must have an undying thirst for success, a vast skillset for business and marketing, lastly – most importantly – sell the most sought-after products.
Too many product ideas can cause confusion, but this article has enlisted the most profitable items for you already.
Just read along and get going!
Before finding products, do some research to see which industry is growing in popularity, what is the competition like? Gather some data on your competitors, any suppliers, or manufacturers you might need, and make up a rough image of what your costs will be like.
Find a niche that has low competition and know its price points so that you can begin selling products online at lowest price and then make your way to the higher prices – the loss leader approach.
Now, the products.
Clothes
Clothes are that one thing for which the demand is never going down, in fact, new trends and fashion styles have only uplifted this gigantic industry. According to Statista, the online clothing industry is expected to reach USD 872 billion by 2023. From shapewear and athleisure to formal and semi-formal clothes everything is in-demand.
However, the industry is fairly competitive, and it might be difficult to find a spot as a new entrant. But worry not, there is always a buyer for a product. Keep studying market trends, your target buyer’s choice and preferences, their purchasing power and all other important aspects that can help you list the best products on your online selling store.
Teeth whitening products
You might have noticed the sudden surge in the endorsement of teeth whitening kits; this industry is expected to reach 7.4 billion USD by 2024. The plus point is, you do not even have to heavily market it, it is already in-demand by so many consumers, much thanks to sponsored posts by influencers and celebrities on social media. As the beauty industry is growing all the affiliated industries are also getting a bigger market share in their businesses. The consumers for teeth care-products are increasing prodigiously. Now is the time to start investing in these products and get most benefit out of this opportunity.
Technology gear
With the rise in technology and increasing usage of the internet, tech gear is high in-demand. These products are not age specific, almost every age group is in excessive use of such tech gear items in some way of their life. But the products that are not suitable for kids, their specific age versions are also available in the market and are selling like hot cake. From smart watches and tablets to wireless speakers and Bluetooth devices, everything is in-demand. Gaming laptops, computers, Cell phone and car accessories, like pop socket, phone cases, portable chargers and trackers for car are a very profitable niche in this industry. Especially for those looking for drop shipping in ecommerce.
Digital Products
Internet and technology have surely paved the way for tech gear, but it has also created a new industry for digital products. From software, online streaming services, games to digital art, eBooks, and online courses – which are even higher in demand due to CoVID-19. Although you do need a specific skillset for entering this industry, but there are so many online resources available for you to learn from and create a product to sell online.
Medical and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
The global pandemic has boosted the medical and PPE industry, and expect to reach USD 85.72 billion by 2026. More and more people are entering in online business for medical supplies. From thermometers, pulse oximeters, nebulizers, face masks, sanitizers, medicines, everything is crucially high in-demand right now.
Baby and Maternity items
It is for sure that items for babies and maternal care are never going out of demand, just like clothes. All the parents get so excited for their child even if he’s not the first one, so be sure, the market demand for your items is always the sky-high. And perhaps due to this, the industry is pretty saturated now, but still profitable for newcomers who want to dropship items to their customers. There is a rise in “mommy bloggers” and many are looking to promote your products at very low prices. As a content marketer, you can surely benefit from these.
Vegan, Cruelty-free and Organic
Many consumers are switching to more eco-friendly items, thanks to veganism, the Minimalism movement, and the increasing awareness about climate change. Fashion bloggers and lifestyle influencers are promoting ethical and sustainable fashion brands, trend for thrifting is increasing, organic food items, cleaning supplies, skin care and beauty products are also popular.
The global market size for this type of industry was USD 12.9 billion in 2017, and it is expected to increase, so it would be a good investment. For example, cruelty-free beauty products, plastic-free containers, as well as ethically sourced jewellery and clothes. You can start your online business of beauty products on Eishops that is offering free marketing and listing services to all the sellers.
Pet Industry
Just like the baby items industry, pet accessories are forever in-demand. According to AVMA, 63.8% households in the USA own either a cat, dog, or both. With this high percentage, there is no dropping of the demand for pet food, litter boxes, flea repellents, grooming products, toys etc.
In fact, the industry in America alone, was estimated at $72 billion near the end of 2019. The target audience for pet items are millennials, and they are high in population in the entire world, so you have customers ready, just begin selling!
LED Light
I am pretty sure you have seen those Tik Tok videos of influencers showing off their rooms decorated with colourful LED light strips and how they got those online stores at cheap rates. Well, LED lights are among the trending items for millennials and Generation Z consumers, but if you plan on investing in this market, go big!
Try to sell LED lights not just for indoors, but for outdoors, maybe for cars too. No wonder this industry was estimated at USD 54 billion in 2019 and is expected to rise 13.4% in the current decade.
Stationery
In 2018, the global stationery industry had a value of USD 90.6 billion and it was estimated to grow by 5% each year, following 2018. There is also a rise in online communities like the Studyblr, or the Bullet Journal Community; they thrive on stationery items and art supplies. With a large social media following, marketing for such products will be relatively easy too – influencers and artists are always looking for sponsorship deals.
Ecommerce business may not be a piece of cake, but it is surely a profiting industry. The search volume for your preferred industry and its competitive niches, products, should be high. You also want to think about your preferred ecommerce method, whether you are looking for business to consumer, business to business, direct to consumer, wholesaling or drop shipping.
You need to calculate all costs before actually setting up your ecommerce store. If you want to create a new product, think of the design, bring new product ideas, get a prototype built by a manufacturer and then look for potential investors, and get going. If this is costing you too much, go for drop shipping.
There are so many options available for you to begin your online business, all you have to do is start thinking, and Eishops will take care of the rest. Since it is a relatively new ecommerce business platform, there is not much competition and you can conduct your business rather smoothly. Eishops provides best SEO and marketing tools to attract your target audience and generate maximum customers for you. There is no registration fee and you can start your business without any hassle!

How to Create an Effective Plan  for the Quarantine💙
This post is mostly centered towards people like me in quarantine or self-isolating and have nothing better to do. (Probably everyone.) The quarantine shouldn’t be like a long study session or a period of time which you will regret not accomplishing anything later on. I have experimented with different techniques of to-do lists, scheduling, creating an agenda for recreational activities and found the perfect one to match my needs. But I have discovered over the months, how others may suit a different method for arranging their time, that works for them, or suits them better. I have created a quiz which will help you find your perfect schedule for organization. Keep in mind that this quiz will not define your personality or what you will stick to, it is simply to just find a way of organization that I recommend.
Q1: Which of learning/schooling do you prefer?
A. Going to lectures/classes and writing down notes
B. Going to class but learn by interacting with others and the teacher
C. Being set tasks to do and self learning.
D. Online classes to work more productively in one place
Q2: What platform do you usually take your final notes on (your notes that you study from. Not your notes where you just jot down stuff the teacher says)?
A. Taking notes on paper
B. Notes on paper, but going an extra mile to make them look aesthetic!
C. Taking notes digital but transferring some into a binder or notebook
D. Taking notes digitally on a laptop or tablet
Q3. What organization system do you usually prefer when listing your tasks?
A. On a day-by-day planner agenda
B. Bullet Journal!
C. An extended to-do list or multiple lists
D. On my planner on my phone where I keep everything
Q4. What’s your main motivating cause when you study?
A. Good grades
B. Good grades but I like to treat myself when I study for a period of time
C. To get in my dream Uni
D. To have a productive schedule and studying but expertly
Q5. If you have a long-term assignment set for a month, when do you usually complete it?
A. I complete the assignment during the first week so I don’t have to worry about it. Between the time I have left and the due date, I also like to furnish it and make it better.
B. I like to not stress on one area at first so I spend the first week brainstorming ideas and start the actual assignment on the third week
C. I usually work pretty fast and I have a creative mind so my ideas flow when I start working so I procrastinate until the last week but get it done with a good effort
D. I plan out my days split the assignment into small tasks to complete throughout the entire month
Results🌻
Mostly A’s✨
You like to work effectively and like seeing good results after putting so much hard work into them. You naturally have a good work ethic, but you still have time left over to spend time doing things you love with the people you love. You might have been okay with the quarantine at first, but it is quickly starting to affect you. Even though it has given you a handful of time, you struggle to use it. We have a lot in common, and what I love doing, is having an extended to-do list of everything you want to accomplish. It can be as simple as sorting out your sports bag, to completing an assignment or something passionate, like just to binge a TV show you’ve always wanted to watch! Use this time wisely, do things you’ve always wanted to do so you won’t regret it.❤️
Tumblr media
Mostly B’s ✨
You are absolutely love to learn, especially if it’s your favorite subject! You have a creative mind, and is always open-minded when introduced to something new. I have no doubt you already have a mental list of things you are going to accomplish during the quarantine already, most of which, are things you are passionate. Well I have 3 words for you. Go for it! Take this time to do things you love, but remember to balance it out with your priorities and finish what you started. Stay true to yourself, and yes, you might procrastinate a little a few times, and it’s totally normal! You deserve it! I would recommend starting a bullet journal, if you haven’t already, and express your artistic talent. If you are already keeping a bullet journal, good for you! Make a special page for what you are going to do during the quarantine, make it as wild as you can, and even though you probably won’t have done all the things by the end, you will have a beautiful page of your goals and experience to cherish later on. 🌹
Tumblr media
Mostly C’s ✨
You are just like me! You love learning new things, especially if you can do them by yourself! But if I’m correct, you are a also a MAJOR procrastinator! Don’t worry, I feel you! But you know that there is so much potential in you, and I bet you can release your power to 100% if sometimes tried a bit harder, do things earlier, instead of last minute. I would recommend using a schedule planner, with dates and weeks already inserted. This will make it a lot easier for you to manage your time! Write everything down, even consider starting a diary or a journal during the quarantine! That way you have a book full with memories by the time we’ve reached the end. But you have to remember one thing. No matter how easy a task seems to you, promise that you will always put in 100% at all times. You are a type of person that would have big dreams for the future, and you already seem like you are working hard towards those dreams! So keep going girl, and do your thing 😊
Tumblr media
Mostly D’s ✨
You love to study and accomplish new things! You believe in studying effectively, and giving your 100% in everything! It seems to me, that you already have a fantastic system, and even more, I bet you are a tech expert. Use your skills to the max sister! With your potential, I would say, use a nice app to manage your free time like: - Todoist
- Things 3
- Minimalist
- Workflowy
- Noteplan
These are just the tip of the iceberg! Branch out, find a system or app that works for you and stay comfy! If there is one thing I would suggest doing, is giving yourself breaks. The quarantine should not feel a big, giant study session! Take time off, to do things with family. Don’t feel like you should be doing more work, because you’ve worked hard during term time, and you deserve a break! You will not regret your time during the quarantine, so make the most of it💙
Tumblr media
I hope you have found your system for the quarantine. This questionnaire might vary for some people, so please do not feel obliged to follow the exact advice. I hope you all have fun during the quarantine! Remember, you cannot buy time so use it wisely🌺

Silver and Peppermint (Part 3)
((Part 3 of a fantasy AU, where Monster Hunter Abe and his reluctant partner, the DA, are trying to track down a murderous werewolf. Tonight, though, Abe is alone on a stakeout, keeping an eye one of the suspects and potential victim.
Links to Part 1, Part 2, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, and the Epilogue.))
Keep his partner alive, and keep the wolf from taking a bite out of anyone else.
Such lofty goals kept him awake as he sat hidden inside a hotel across the street from Franklin’s house that night, careful to stay out of sight even as he peered down at the street below and watched everyone who came and went. He had planned on scoping out Garroway’s place like he told the DA he would, but he couldn’t complain too much.
It was a swank hotel, from the wide-open lobby with marble and glass everywhere to the room itself, with its massive king-sized bed, more space than he knew what to do with, and not even a hint of bedbugs, putting it miles above the normal flea-ridden motel room he called home. Of course, it helped that it was on the city’s dime, once he explained to the Mayor its prime location for keeping an eye on a potential victim and/or werewolf. This was the sort of place that demanded reservations months in advance probably, but one call from Damien put Abe in just the right room to have a view of the whole street along with Franklin’s place before he could correct him on who was supposed to be staking out which house.
He could only hope room service was included in that deal, as he reached out and, without taking his eyes off the street, forked another piece of lobster.
Only for it to hit the plate with a clatter when he saw something move in the alleyway, something canine.
Having scoped out the exits in advance, it took Abe seconds to dash down the service stairs and out a staff door, just in time to see the tail go around the corner at the far end of the alley. After a second of consideration, he went the other way, across the front of the house and to the alley on the other side, expecting at any second to see it coming around from the other direction.
Except he turned the corner first with no sign of the creature, heart hammering as he feared he had lost his only chance—
Only to stop short when the beam of his flashlight caught the wolf standing in the back alley that ran between the rows of high walls on either side, blocking the house’s view of the alley and the trash cans that waited here to be emptied in the morning.
The light washed out the wolf’s fur and caught its eyes as the pupils shrank to mere dots, and for a moment they stood there, frozen and staring at each other.
It wasn’t as big as Abe expected.
Even a regular wolf is huge, more than large enough to make mistaking it for any stray dog off the street laughable, but this one seemed to shrink in on itself, cowering away from the light even as one paw wasn’t touching the ground, held in such a way to suggest it was injured.
One large, spade-like paw that, in this light, could have just as easily made the prints he saw around that stiff this morning.
It’s smart, he realized. And a limp is easy enough to fake. It’s just trying to get your guard down long enough to rip out your throat.
A whine escaped from the canine’s throat as he raised his gun and the District Attorney’s words came back to him:
“Don’t you think we need to put some effort into finding the culprit instead of shooting anything in the right shape?”
And he hesitated.
A scream pierced the air and both he and the wolf looked before springing into action. The wolf took off running away from him, and despite the visible limp in one of its limbs it was still going more than fast enough that his shot missed in the dark, the silver bullet hitting one of the trashcans and the wall behind it instead.
He swore and took off running himself, in the direction of the scream.
In retrospect, he was lucky he didn’t get shot, running up on the small band of policemen gathered around a pair of near hysterical people, one of whom he recognized as the same young woman who tipped him and the DA off about the fourth victim’s identity. All three of the cops had their weapons drawn, but he could see the light reflecting off their guns shaking as they turned at the sound of his footsteps.
“Easy, easy,” he called ahead as he stepped into the light cast from the streetlight overhead, a broad circle in which the small group cowered directly in the center of. Wait, aren’t you guys supposed to be keeping an eye on the theater gal’s house?”
They were, but they had ended up here, nearly an entire block away, when they spotted the young woman (Lenore, she volunteered eventually when it became apparent Abe never bothered to learn the name the first time around) and the young man she was with running hell for leather, absolutely hysterical. They followed suit, realizing that: one, this was clearly an emergency situation; and two, no one among them was stupid enough to actually split the group up no matter how they tried to work it out.
One officer freely admitted that, when they caught up with them only to hear they were being chased by a monster, they were ready to write both Lenore and the man off as just having spooked themselves walking home in the dark with all of the stories and rumors going around in their heads. Until they heard the growl, and saw the wolf for themselves.
“Never seen anything like it,” one of the other cops said with a shudder. “Those eyes, they didn’t belong on an animal like that, and you wouldn’t be looking far down to meet them if it were standing in front of you.”
“What happened, where did it go?” Abe asked, already turning his flashlight out toward the street as if it might still be there.
“It just…looked at us, for so long,” the young man with Lenore said. “Pacing all around, always staying out of the light but close enough we could see those eyes.”
“We all had our guns up,” the third cop added. “But it kept moving, and I thought, we only have so many silver bullets between the three of us, if I miss—”
“And that’s when the wolf growled,” another cop picked up when that one trailed off. “Like it knew what we were thinking and then all of a sudden it disappeared. There’s nothing but silence, and then the sound of it running straight at us, but we couldn’t tell where from.”
“I screamed,” the young man admitted. “God, I thought I was about to die, but then we heard a gunshot off in the distance and the wolf just…stopped. We couldn’t see or hear it anymore, but…”
But as Abe’s light went around the area, it was clear there were no wolves to be seen. It did catch the massive paw print left in the dirt near the edge of the sidewalk, and more than one person present shuddered at how close it had gotten.
“What were you two even doing out there?” Abe demanded, once he had accompanied the civilians to the police station and told the police to check in on Franklin and Garroway to make sure both were still kicking. “There’s a curfew! And you, you know what that thing did to your boyfriend!”
“Marcus wasn’t my boyfriend,” Lenore said, her voice tinged more with regret at the denial than anything else. “And we wouldn’t have left the apartment if we thought we were safe there, but that thing was at the back door and nearly had it caved in before we got out.”
It took some questioning, but Abe gradually gathered that the young man in question was Stephen, Marcus’s roommate and the one to last see him. After talking to the police earlier today, he and Lenore had decided to go through Marcus’s belongings to see if there was anything that might point to the identity of his murderer, Lenore confessing that she doubted she would be able to sleep tonight anyways and Stephen not wanting to do it alone. About two hours and several glasses of wine in, they heard something snuffling around outside, and it’s when Stephen looked out the window and saw the massive wolf outside that it started to force its way in. At that point they decided to take their chances on the street, hoping a neighbor might let them in and give them safety in more numbers.
“Did you find anything?” Abe asked, deciding not to point out that numbers would have meant little at that point. It took a lot to kill a werewolf, and he had seen one tear its way through an entire village in one night, leaving victims in the double digits behind.
“He’d taken some work stuff home with him, which we weren’t supposed to do,” Lenore admitted. “But he wouldn’t have been the only one to do that. There’s just so much to go through before the company can even start to break ground, between keeping up with building codes, applying for permits, accounting, just all the piles of paperwork and bureaucracy, and with all the new contracts from the city we’ve all been struggling to keep up.”
“Other than that, it was fairly normal stuff for Marcus,” Stephen said. “About the only thing he tried to hide was his journal, and there was nothing in there about—About anyone who might have had a grudge against the guy.”
He stopped and fell silent, sharing an embarrassed look with Lenore that suggested they had found plenty of other things in the journal, but Abe asked, “This work stuff, can me and my Part—er, the DA take a look at in the morning? Until then, you two stay here, got it?”
Neither were about to argue with him on either point, and Lenore said they would go back to the apartment as soon as it was safe to do so, Stephen adding in a glum voice that he would have to see how much damage was done anyways.
That was about the only lead to come out of the night. The rest of it was a complete wash, from the realization that between his own actions and the police, both Garroway and Franklin had been left completely unwatched for long enough that either one of them could have been killed or stepped out for a little wolf-walking of their own. Both were at home and answered the door when the cops came back, which meant both were now also aware their homes were being watched if they didn’t know already. There wasn’t even a murder to narrow down the list of suspects.
He supposed he should have been grateful for that last one, but Abe was still in a foul mood by the time he walked up to the mayor’s office that morning, steaming cup of coffee in hand and no patience at all for the swarm of press outside, no doubt mugging the Mayor with questions on his way in for the day. Abe stood at a distance, watching the frenzy with half-focused eyes as he thought back to the events of the last night and dreading when he would have to explain them to the Mayor and, possibly worse, his own partner.
He raised the cup to his mouth, but before that rich, steamy brew could even touch his lips someone jostled him, hard enough to send the cup splattering across the ground.
“Watch where you’re going!” he roared before realizing that it was the District Attorney standing next to him, shaking one hand before pulling out yet another handkerchief to get the burning hot coffee off.
“Apologies,” they said without a hint of remorse. “Can I make it up to you? It looks like Damien may be here a while, and he’s…generally not in a good mood immediately after talking to the press.”
“Shouldn’t you be up there with him, answering questions about the investigation?” he asked.
“All three of us will be in the center of that mob if they notice us,” they answered. “All the more reason to not let that happen. Let me pick you up a new coffee, and then I’ll show you the side entrance Damien should have used if he wasn’t nice enough to put up with all of that noise.”
Abe considered giving them a hard time about the coffee, maybe making enough noise that they would be spotted by the press to get back at the DA (and maybe to give his own name a bit of a boost; after all, he would be looking for more work once this case was through), but he saw that under the shade cast by the brim of the fedora they’d donned today, a fashion choice he was entirely behind, the District Attorney’s eyes were shot with red and shadowed by bags that suggested they had about as much sleep last night as he did.
“I guess I could let you do that,” Abe said before stooping down to pick up the wasted coffee cup and toss it in a nearby bin. The color of the coffee did look a little off on the ground, even though he had once again asked for black coffee. Maybe they would have a better brew this time around.
“This the same place?” they asked outside of the coffee shop.
“Yeah, I don’t know a lot of coffee joints around here yet,” Abe said and they nodded once before pushing open the door and walking straight up to the counter where a barista was wiping up a spill.
“Well, look who it is,” the barista said when he spotted them. “Here for your regular again already?”
“…Sure. And, let me guess, a black coffee, strongest brew you’ve got,” they said, glancing at Abe for confirmation before giving the barista a bill.
While they watched the barista make the coffees, Abe looked around and noted that it was still early enough that most of the morning commuters had apparently not set out yet in search of the drink to get them through the day.
“It must get busy around here in the morning,” he commented, if only to break the awkward silence as they waited. “I’m surprised you’ve only got two people working this early.”
“Two? I wish,” the barista said as he added what appeared to be at least three shots of peppermint flavoring to the attorney’s drink. “I’m the only one here until 11 because someone had to call out again.”
Abe frowned. “What? But you’re not the guy who took my order a couple of minutes ago.”
“Uh, no, I think I’d remember seeing you again,” the barista answered, leaving Abe to wonder what that was supposed to mean. “A couple of minutes ago I was in the back because one of the boxes fell and spilled stirrers all over the floor, but I didn’t hear the bell ring for anyone coming in. Either way, there shouldn’t have been anyone else behind the counters.”
“I’ll be right back,” the District Attorney said, pausing at the door to look up at the bell in question with a frown before heading out.
“Look, if this is some kind of joke,” Abe started, but the barista just shook his head.
“Seriously, man, are you sure you have the right place? Because as far as I know this place isn’t haunted with any ghost baristas,” he answered, and then paused to look around before adding in a louder voice, “Because if there were, I’m sure they would have been pulling their weight before now. Right?”
He waited and then shrugged when no answer came before placing the two cups on the counter.
Abe wrinkled his nose at the scent of peppermint coming up from the other cup, and as if in response to his thought the District Attorney walked back in, straightening their collar and slightly out of breath as if they had been running.
“None of the other store owners nearby saw this other barista,” they said by way of explanation. “And there’s no sign of any random coffee servers hanging around.”
“Thanks for checking,” Abe said and handed them their coffee. They took a deep inhale, but he swore their eyes were on his cup before they relaxed. His mind went back to the spilled off-color coffee on the sidewalk and pried off the lid of his drink, but there didn’t appear to be anything unusual about the black tar of a liquid inside. “He could have laced my drink.”
“Excuse you,” the barista said. “I don’t add anything to anyone’s drink unless they’re paying for it.”
“Not you, the other guy,” Abe snapped and the barista rolled his eyes before going back to putting out the pastries for the coming rush. “Why else would someone go to all the trouble of pretending to work here? And how?”
He wasn’t concerned about the why. After all, this was hardly the first time someone had tried to do him in even just within the past month. And he hadn’t exactly been quiet about throwing around the three suspects’ names yesterday. But how could someone have known he would come here of all places, and at just the right time to miss the real barista?
“Maybe they were just that prepared.” The District Attorney only shrugged as they led the way toward the door, where they remembered to reach up and, with a bit of a stretch, pull the paper straw wrapper from around the bell’s clapper. It gave a cheery ring as they pulled the door open, but the sound didn’t cover their voice as they muttered, “And maybe they had some help of their own.”
Seeing Abe hesitate on his coffee, they took a sip of their own and said, “It’s fine, I watched him make them. Plus, I know that barista, he wouldn’t try anything like that.”
“I had a partner who said the same thing about his tailor, and I know how that turned out,” Abe muttered, but he took a sip of the coffee anyways.
He would need something to help him get through the meeting with the Mayor, who when they arrived was clearly straining to hold his tongue as he told him, again, how important it was to solve this case like Abe didn’t already know. Unlike yesterday’s meeting, the Mayor stood and paced around his office with nervous energy, the cane in his hands going back and forth like he didn’t know how to keep them still as he spoke.
“We’re doing everything we can, Damien,” the District Attorney said in an attempt to reassure him. “Our three suspects—”
“Are tangentially related, at best,” he snapped, before looking down at the ground as if ashamed by his outburst. “I’m sorry, but you know we need more than guesses. You know what’s at stake—What happened to your hand, my friend?”
The District Attorney glanced down at their palm and Abe had just a brief glimpse of a blistering burn on their palm before they turned it away from both men’s sight and said, “Spilled some coffee.”
Without waiting for either one to help, they wrapped their handkerchief around it, using their teeth to finish the knot.
“Anything else?” they asked, ignoring both of their expressions. “If not, Abe and I should get going.”
“No, I don’t think so,” the Mayor said, but his eyes were studying his attorney’s face with concern, and on their way out, Abe heard him add, “Take care. Please.”

7.24.18 // 9:30am // starting a semester without shooting yourself in the foot
hola! recently got an ask from an anon about how to start the new semester so here it is. (sorry for the early back to school posts but like? winter is coming? yeah sorry don’t watch game of thrones) xoxo, m
general tips:
1. make a schedule: put in the things that have to happen each day. so classes, sports practices, work etc. this’ll help you evaluate how much time you have to do things like homework and if you have time to take on more extracurriculars and things. it’ll also prevent you from scheduling stuff during these times where you have to be somewhere else.
2. plan somewhere: ok so despite owning a studyblr and a bullet journal that i share with you guys, i kinda suck at planning. i completely relate to the abandoned planner/bujo situation. ideally, you might want to implement something like this. if that doesn’t work for you, just have a notebook where you jot down all your lists (that can be events, to-dos, reminders). you could even use an app (google keep is helpful bc you can sync bt phone and computer). just find somewhere to put down your thoughts.
3. read the syllabus/any emails from your prof/teacher: make sure you do all your summer homework. there might be a quick assignment/supply that you need to bring on the first day. also figure out where your class is. that’s kinda important. get familiar with policies like when to turn in hw, what their late work policy is. write yourself a cheat sheet if you have to.
4. map out your route: this is more of a first day/week type deal, but just figure out how you’re gonna get from place to place so you’re not stressing about being late. you can do this in person by walking around campus or just mentally if you’re familiar. if you’re in college and need to factor in meal/bus times, figure that out too.
5. get on your teacher/profs good side: i’m not saying to suck up or anything, but treat them with courtesy and try not to be late. if you’re one of those people that likes to be really familiar with your prof/teacher, start going to office hours just to say hi (or obv if you need help). i’m generally of the “invisible student” type, but there are definitely pros to having your instructor know your name.
6. compare your schedule: if your teacher/prof has already given you dates of major projects or exams, look that over. make sure you don’t already have any pre-planned trips (ex: my cousin is getting married and we’ve known the date for months). teachers/profs will always be more flexible about changing the dates of things or allowing you to take exams early/late if you let them know asap. you might think, “oh it’ll be easy to ask them to take it early”. not necessarily. if they haven’t made up the exam yet and you ask them a week in advance to take the exam early, not going to get a happy prof. and they’ll probably say no.
7. establish a routine: ok i kind of suck at this too, but mapping out when you’re going to do work etc is helpful. if all else fails, establish a sleep schedule. determine if you work better early in the morning or late at night. in my opinion, there’s no point in trying to be an early bird if you’re most productive from 11pm-1am.
8. make a clear organizational system: for most of us, this will inevitably go to shit once the semester drags on. but having one at the beginning of the year will make things go more smoothly and give you a structure to go back to once you realize you can’t find a damn thing.
9. find a good study spot: find a spot you like. actually find a few spots. now’s when you’ll have time to scout around campus/your town. nothing sucks more than needing to study for an exam/make the most of your time and having your only study space be occupied. i have actually spent like 20 minutes looking for a spot during exams. don’t do it.
10. experiment a little: if you already know what works for you, great. but if you’re trying to decide between going digital or using paper. rewriting your notes vs making them legible the first time around. do some quick experimentation when things are as hectic.
11. find a friend in each class: i am also horrendous at this. but it’s really helpful if you’re stuck on homework or didn’t quite catch something important the prof/teacher said. if no one you know is in the class, maybe think about making a new friend/study buddy.
12. go the extra mile while you still can: now is probably the time when you have less going on outside of school. take advantage of that to build a little “grade cushion”. take the time to do assignments early and go over them with friends so you’re sure everything is correct. go above and beyond on that project, your super busy self will thank you later when your rushing to finish homework and probably miss a bunch of questions. now, i also want to mention that you should only do this if you can reap some kind of benefit. it could be getting a 100 instead of a 93 or just for self satisfaction. but don’t waste your time painting a masterpiece when your english teacher asks for a stick figure drawing to illustrate a scene from huck finn. the highest grade you can get is 100% and you could probably do that with some well placed lines. unless, like i said, you get personal satisfaction from said masterpiece. and you have the time to do it. :) hint, hint: i was that extra af kid in english class.
college specific tips (that might also apply elsewhere?)
1. go to class: ok i am an advocate of the “skip class when you need to” method (unpopular opinion), but you should go for at least the first week if not month. your teacher/prof will outline important policies that might not be in the syllabus. you’ll be able to tell if you really need a textbook (i usually rent for easy returns or wait until a couple days in or both) and get a feel for the prof. are they super strict on things like deadlines/guidelines or more relaxed. you’ll learn where you can bend the rules. from there, at your own risk, you can evaluate if you really need to go to class or not.
2. make sure you unpack so you can find things: don’t just toss everything into a drawer. it will come back to bite you when you’re frantically searching for that one item.
3. get to class early: i mean like 20 minutes early. (potentially earlier if you’re in a freshman class full of overachievers). this will allow you to choose where you want to sit and give you time to get situated. if you want to meet new people, maybe sit towards the middle. also, though college classes rarely have assigned seats, you’ll be choosing your unofficial official seat. don’t be that person that moves around all the time and displaces half the class because of it.
4. enjoy the first bit: catch up with friends, make new ones. you won’t have too much work for at least the first 2 days, so be efficient and don’t spend all day in your room/the library “doing work”. there will be plenty of time for that.
best of luck friends! i’ll probably be putting out more masterposts on similar topics as we move closer to school starting (sigh). lmk if you have any requests!

write my paper for me
About me
Custom Report Writing Service
Custom Report Writing Service I attempt to act as a neutral, curious reader who desires to grasp every element. If there are issues I battle with, I will counsel that the authors revise components of their paper to make it extra solid or broadly accessible. The incontrovertible fact that solely 5% of a journal’s readers would possibly ever look at a paper, for instance, can’t be used as criteria for rejection, if in fact it's a seminal paper that can impact that area. And we never know what findings will amount to in a few years; many breakthrough research weren't recognized as such for many years. So I can solely price what precedence I consider the paper should obtain for publication right now. The determination comes along during reading and making notes. If there are serious errors or missing components, then I don't advocate publication. Minor feedback may embody flagging the mislabeling of a figure in the text or a misspelling that modifications the meaning of a typical time period. Overall, I try to make comments that would make the paper stronger. However, I know that being on the receiving finish of a evaluate is sort of stressful, and a critique of one thing that is close to at least one’s heart can simply be perceived as unjust. I attempt to write my reviews in a tone and kind that I might put my name to, despite the fact that critiques in my area are normally double-blind and never signed. I believe it improves the transparency of the review process, and it also helps me police the quality of my own assessments by making me personally accountable. A evaluation is primarily for the good thing about the editor, to assist them reach a call about whether to publish or not, but I try to make my reviews helpful for the authors as well. My tone is very formal, scientific, and in third person. If there is a main flaw or concern, I try to be sincere and back it up with evidence. I attempt to be constructive by suggesting ways to enhance the problematic aspects, if that's potential, and likewise attempt to hit a relaxed and pleasant but also neutral and objective tone. This just isn't at all times straightforward, especially if I discover what I assume is a severe flaw within the manuscript. I normally write down all the things that I noticed, good and unhealthy, so my choice doesn't affect the content material and size of my evaluation. I solely make a advice to just accept, revise, or reject if the journal particularly requests one. The determination is made by the editor, and my job as a reviewer is to provide a nuanced and detailed report on the paper to support the editor. I want to give them sincere suggestions of the same kind that I hope to obtain once I submit a paper. My reviews are likely to take the type of a summary of the arguments within the paper, followed by a abstract of my reactions and then a series of the specific factors that I wished to lift. Mostly, I am trying to determine the authors’ claims within the paper that I didn't find convincing and information them to ways that these factors may be strengthened . If I find the paper particularly interesting , I tend to provide a more detailed review as a result of I need to encourage the authors to develop the paper . My tone is considered one of attempting to be constructive and useful despite the fact that, of course, the authors might not agree with that characterization. I first familiarize myself with the manuscript and browse related snippets of the literature to ensure that the manuscript is coherent with the bigger scientific domain. Then I scrutinize it section by section, noting if there are any missing hyperlinks in the story and if certain factors are underneath- or overrepresented. Most journals do not have special directions, so I simply learn the paper, usually beginning with the Abstract, looking at the figures, after which studying the paper in a linear fashion. I learn the digital model with an open word processing file, preserving an inventory of “major gadgets” and “minor objects” and making notes as I go. There are a number of features that I ensure to deal with, though I cowl a lot more ground as properly. I all the time write my evaluations as if I am speaking to the scientists in individual. The evaluate process is brutal enough scientifically without reviewers making it worse. I then delve into the Methods and Results sections. Are the strategies suitable to analyze the analysis query and take a look at the hypotheses? Would there have been a greater method to check these hypotheses or to research these outcomes? Could I replicate the outcomes utilizing the information in the Methods and the description of the analysis? I even selectively verify individual numbers to see whether they're statistically believable. I additionally rigorously have a look at the explanation of the outcomes and whether the conclusions the authors draw are justified and connected with the broader argument made in the paper. If there are any features of the manuscript that I am not conversant in, I attempt to learn up on those matters or seek the advice of different colleagues. My evaluation begins with a paragraph summarizing the paper. Then I even have bullet factors for major comments and for minor feedback.

The false art of the feed has been deconstructed before (see: the excellent recent expose by The New Yorker’s Rachel Monroe that reveals the depressing reality behind the bohemian #vanlife movement), but less has been said about the deeper effects it’s had on our collective mental health. For designers and other people who work digitally, the so-called “internet effect” goes particularly deep, but just how deep, and what that might mean for our waking life is hard to tell at this point.

[Mies Van Der Rohe,] pioneer of modernism discusses the Bauhaus as well as his own individual work, all of it interesting to anyone with an inclination toward midcentury European-American architecture and design, none of it ultimately more relevant than the final words the master speaks: "I don't want to be interesting. I want to be good."

Persuasion is at the core of norm creation, emergence of collective action, and solutions to ‘tragedy of the commons’ problems. In this paper, we show that the directionality of friendship ties affect the extent to which individuals can influence the behavior of each other. Moreover, we find that people are typically poor at perceiving the directionality of their friendship ties and that this can significantly limit their ability to engage in cooperative arrangements. This could lead to failures in establishing compatible norms, acting together, finding compromise solutions, and persuading others to act. We then suggest strategies to overcome this limitation by using two topological characteristics of the perceived friendship network. The findings of this paper have significant consequences for designing interventions that seek to harness social influence for collective action.
Are You Your Friends’ Friend? Poor Perception of Friendship Ties Limits the Ability to Promote Behavioral Change
Creation knows no multitasking.
Before I Begin
For decades, policymakers have been concerned that poor people will waste free money by using it on cigarettes and alcohol. A report on the perception of stakeholders in Kenya about such programs found a “widespread belief that cash transfers would either be abused or misdirected in alcohol consumption and other non-essential forms of consumption.”
The opposite is true, according to a recently published research paper(paywall) by David Evans of the World Bank and Anna Popova of Stanford University.
Definitive data on what poor people buy when they’re just given cash
Some blame human beings’ basic optimism, if not egocentrism, for the disconnect between perceived and actual friendships. Others point to a misunderstanding of the very notion of friendship in an age when “friend” is used as a verb, and social inclusion and exclusion are as easy as a swipe or a tap on a smartphone screen. It’s a concern because the authenticity of one’s relationships has an enormous impact on one’s health and well-being...
[Ronald Sharp] recalled the many hours he spent in engrossing conversation with his friend Eudora Welty, who was known not only for her Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction but also for her capacity for friendship. Together they edited “The Norton Book of Friendship,” an anthology of works on the topic. “The notion of doing nothing but spending time in each other’s company has, in a way, become a lost art,” replaced by volleys of texts and tweets, Mr. Sharp said. “People are so eager to maximize efficiency of relationships that they have lost touch with what it is to be a friend.”
Do Your Friends Actually Like You?

The next step is this: you have to commit to make a proportional investment in corrective action at every level of the analysis. So, in the example above, we'd have to take five corrective actions...
Because the most common problems keep recurring, your prevention efforts are automatically focused on the 20% of your product that needs the most help. That's also the same 20% that causes you to waste the most time. So five whys pays for itself awfully fast, and it makes life noticeably better almost right away. All you have to do is get started.
Five Whys
We started with a simple wiki page with a few bullet points of things that new engineers had tripped over recently. As we kept doing root cause analysis, the list grew. In response to Five Whys that noticed that not all new engineers were reading the list, we expanded it into a new engineer curriculum. Soon, each new engineer was assigned a mentor, and we made it part of the mentor’s job to teach the curriculum. Over time, we also made investments in making it easier to get a new engineer set up with their private sandbox, and even dealt with how to make sure they’d have a machine on their desk when they started. The net effect of all this was to make new engineers incredibly productive right away – in most cases, we’d have them deliver code to production on their very first day. We never set out to build a world-class engineering-training process. Five Whys simply helped us eliminate tons of waste by building one.
How to conduct a Five Whys root cause analysis
On social media, it is easy to mistake popularity for credibility, and that is exactly what the fakers are hoping for. To most people, a Twitter account with tens of thousands of followers is an easy-to-read indication of personal success and good reputation, a little like hundreds of good reviews on Yelp or a long line outside a restaurant.
How to become internet famous for $68
It’s important designers aren’t the only people in the product organization to feel responsible for the user experience. I’ve made it a point to work with our field team to get more employees visiting clinics, and looking into ways to make patient stories and issues known throughout the company. I love having a team of engineers who will often jump in and defend our user before I’m even aware of an issue (one developer, in particular, handled a lot of debates against requests for a particular modal, dubbed by him: “the nuclear option.” Knowing he was there to defend the user, I didn’t even need to get involved.)
Interviews aren’t the only way to gain empathy
The Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule, the law of the vital few, or the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.

The 5 Whys Process We Use to Understand the Root of Any Problem
People are “groupish,” and we tend to form groups automatically. Some have argued that this is due in large part to humans’ tribal past and evolutionary development. Regardless of why we are this way, the descriptive truth is that this is how we are.
The Office Finale’s ‘Miraculous’ Quote — The Scientific Truth Behind It
We share stuff that ignores wider realities, selectively shares information, or is just an outright falsehood. The misinformation is so rampant that the Washington Post stopped publishing its internet fact-checking column because people didn’t seem to care if stuff was true.
The “Other Side” Is Not Dumb
Providing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to women in rural Pakistan who were suffering from perinatal depression has had persistent positive effects on their mental health, their parenting behaviour and their financial empowerment seven years later.
TREATING MATERNAL DEPRESSION: Evidence of the impact on mental health, parenting, financial autonomy and child development
One useful technique is to map ideas on a risk/reward space. Those that score high on both risk and reward are considered moonshots, the high potential ideas. Ideas low on both risk and reward are safe bets. Moving along ideas in the different quadrants of the risk/reward space (with the possible of exception of high risk/low reward) preserves innovation potential.
When brainstorming fails, throw an imaginary cat
Last month, the Pew Research Center released a study showing that nearly a third of those who went to graduate or professional school have “down the line” liberal views on social, economic and environmental matters, whereas this is true for just one in 10 Americans generally. An additional quarter of postgrads have mostly liberal views. These numbers reflect drastic change: While professionals have been in the Democratic column for a while, in 1994 only 7 percent of postgrads held consistently liberal political opinions.
Why Are the Highly Educated So Liberal?
A wicked problem is a problem that is difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete, contradictory, and changing requirements that are often difficult to recognize. The use of the term "wicked" here has come to denote resistance to resolution, rather than evil. Another definition is "a problem whose social complexity means that it has no determinable stopping point". Moreover, because of hard interdependencies, the effort to fix one part of a wicked problem may open or create other problems.

Hello!!! I'm a newbie witch and I'm confused about grimoires(I'm so sorry if I spelled that wrong lol) what are they used for and how should I go about creating one for myself?
Hi there!
You spelled it right, don’t worry lol.
A grimoire is essentially a collection of spells and information about magic that is kept for the magic user’s reference. Consider it like a magical textbook - it contains information about what can be used in spells, such as correspondence lists, as well as actual spells themselves that the witch can reference and use at their leisure. Some people also keep notes of the spells they write, the magics they practice, and how the spell works and manifests in such books too.
“Grimoire” is not the only term I’ve seen used for it either. “Book of Shadows” is more geared towards Wicca, but covers a lot of the same things, as well as includes magical rites and rituals, prayers and devotions specific to the religion and deities. I’ve seen the word “agyr” used a couple times too, though I’m not sure of the context on that one. “Magical book” honestly works just fine if you don’t wanna be fancy, lol. Some name their books specifically after their path - a sea witch might call their magic book “The Book of Tides,” for example, but that is something really personal to each person / craft.
There are many ways to create a grimoire. My blog is one of my grimoires, for example - within it I have many informative posts about magic, as well as spells and sigils that I want to keep track of for potential future use. They can be kept private, and are password protected, so I find keeping a digital grimoire is great for people that need to be secretive. (Blogging platforms aren’t the only options - you can also use Google Docs, OneNote, whatever other online note or cloud program to store your information.)
I also have a folder of spells and sigils on my computer as well.
Commonly, and most easily recognizable, grimoires are books. What sort of book is up to you, what you can do, and what you want to do. Some people love the aesthetic of the thick, leather-bound books, and that works awesome. However, if that’s out of the budget, or you need something more discreet, there are so many options available.
I really want to empasize something - a book doesn’t have to look witchy to be a witchy book. This means that, while the aesthetic is nice, for some of us it just isn’t in the budget or practical. Some of us don’t have the art skills to do the fancy page designs, and that’s okay! If you can do it and want to, that’s awesome, but that isn’t required for a grimoire to be a grimoire. Even if you can do it, you don’t need to if you don’t want to. It’s your book, do with it as you wish!
Simple notebooks from dollar stores can be used to store spells and info in, and are super easy to hide. I have a variety of notebooks that I keep herb correspondences in, tarot spreads, as well as a book of more in-depth tarot interpretations.
I have four binders now in which I keep magical info - I like the binder because I can add and remove pages at my desire, I can keep it organized exactly how I want it, and also it’s easier to make mistakes without worrying about “ruining the whole book.” I hate tearing out pages from bound books. Not to mention, I can take it out in public and work on it, and people just think I’m studying for college, lmao.
There are also more ways to keep books of magical information - bullet journals, planners, sketchbooks, collages, even just printing out the info and storing it in a folder… However you want to store the info is up to you!
Ultimately, what you use and how you use it depends on your preferences and what you can do (for instance, a secret witch may not want a fat leather tome with a huge pentacle on the front - they would need something more discreet). I do think it’s important to keep a magical book, regardless. Storing all your info in one place makes for easy access, helps you find what you need when you need it. Keeping notes on your spellwork can also help you if something goes wrong; going over what you did might help you locate an error, or even just be good if you want to perform the spell again.
I actually made a series of posts involving creating grimoires that I think you should also read through - it covers things a bit more in detail.
[Part 01 - Introduction]
[Part 02 - Styles of Grimoires]
[Part 03 - What Should I Write?]
[Part 04 - Organization]
[Part 05 - Decoration]
There is also a lot more info in my [#grimoire tag].
I hope that helped you anon, and good luck! If you have any more questions, let me know! :D

Week 1: “What does Design means to you?” (How do you see/ use design in daily life?)
Before taking any SIAT course, “design”, this word just tied with aesthetics, and how we can make something aesthetic and appeal to our eyes.
Now, I believe that design is a process of problem-solving for specific purpose. Other than aesthetic, design combines with functionality and meaning to be a sustainable and effective solution serving for its purpose. Having a core purpose (like what the clients want), designer will do research, brainstorm ideas, select ideas, iterates again and again while reminding the match between product and purpose and creates prototype to test the product. Design is like a journey to create something needed in the world.
Design is a kind of communication to me as well. Our choice of font, colour, composition, text and image are crucial to how well and effective we tell the story, information. How it can attract and be understood is something we have to think about when designing with purpose and target audience. It is like telling a story in other medium indirectly. Therefore, design is like a communication to me and it is designer job to form the most effective communication required by clients.
Week 2: Print Production
Varieties of Paper:
1. Uncoated paper
for business cards, brochures, invitations, books...
have surface textures: wove/smooth, linen, laid...
Tumblr media
2. Coated Paper
for magazines, brochures, annual reports, advertisements
(not always glossy/ reflective)
variety of finishes: gloss [shiny finish] , satin [good for img], matte [flat finish, ink just lays on top]
Tumblr media
More info: http://designingforprint.com/3-things-to-know-before-you-specify-paper-a-shortcut/
Week 3: Who is a Typographer? (Create a list of typographers, collect an example of work  for each: when the piece was done...)
Typographer [Definition]: a person who specializes in the design, choice, and arrangement of type matter (according to Merriam)
1.  Adrian Frutiger (Swiss): An important san-serifs typefaces designer
Univers (1957)
Category: Neo-Grotesque
Similar to Helvetica as both are based on Akzidenz Grotesk
Has variety of weights and widths (flexible!!)
Similar Font: Nimbus Sans, Aktiv Grotesk
Font Pairing: Univers+Glypha
Frutiger (1976)
Avenir (1988)
Category: Geometric
Slightly humanist features: e.g. tail on t; o -->not perfect circle
Similar Font: Neuzeit, Sailec
Font Pairing: Avenir + Century Schoolbook
Tumblr media
2.   Albert-Jan Pool (Dutch): san-serifs
DIN (original version in 1931 for use in engineering and technical applications such as traffic signs)
Linear (1994)
Imperial (1994)
FF DIN (1995)
FF DIN ARABIC (1995)
FF OCR (1995)
FF DIN ROUND (2010)
Similar Font: Interstate, Nudista
Font Pairing: DIN + Aachen
Tumblr media
3.  Giambattista Bodoni (Italian): serifs --- admirer of Baskerville
Bodoni (1798):
Category: Transitional—>Modern
Extreme contrast between thick&thin strokes ==> more suitable for display face than a text face
Similar Font: Didot, Modern 216
Font Pairing: Bodoni+Futura
Tumblr media
Week 4: What are cool books about design?
1. Grid Systems: Principles of Organizing Type by Kimberly Elam (2004)
This book mentions what to pay attention when we are designing the layout: proportion of elements, negative spaces, grouping, etc. that affects the overall visual hierarchy. It also provides many ideas on different composition like Horizontal, Vertical and Diagonal Compositions.
One cool thing about this book is that there are pages with grids and instructions that we can see through these pages and analyze the layout on the next page. This is quite helpful.
Tumblr media
2. The Art of PIXAR Short Films by Amid Amidi (2009)
The book includes characters and storytelling design process of many Pixar short films. From the initial character design: sketches on the facial expressions, motion, modeling, character wireframe in software…to the storyboard of the short film, we can take a peak of the details of these successful animations.
The layout of the book is simple and organized. As it assembled many short animations, it goes in the same flow:
Initial sketches of the character
Notes to pay attention to
Character development (motion and emotion)
Digital visualization (finished work)
storyboard in sketches
Final digitalized scene
The photos are in full bleed and there is a yellow colour page to indicate the start of another short film. It has a dark blue hardcover with the stamped signature of Pixar — Lamp
Tumblr media
Week 5: (Type)
Pay attention to:
Remove double spaces
Set italics
Replace hyphens with em or en dashes where appropriate
Remove widows and orphans
Do not break any proper nouns (names)
Do not break with less than 3 characters(what-ever=ok, whatev-er=no)
Do not stack more than 2 broken lines
Check that quotation marks(”) and apostrophes(’) are not primes(")
Adjust loose and tight lines
Set small caps and text figures where neccessary
Tumblr media
Type Crimes: (ones that I mostly will forget)
Orphan & Widow, terrible rag, double spaces, Improper hyphen break
NOT using appropriate ligature or dot-less i
Negative leading collision
Small caps with lining figures
Full caps with old style figures
Terrible contrast
Text only in all caps (sometimes works!)
Overly tight kerning/ tracking
Overly loose kerning/ tracking
Baseline shift not adjusted (character or line of text)
Use of virgules rather than solidus for fractions
Too many typefaces (be careful of context and execution, sometimes in can work)
Rivers
NOT using hanging punctuation (numbers, bullets, indents, quotation marks)
Baseline shift not adjusted (character or line of text)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Week 6: Think about colour.
Tumblr media
(What were some of your findings from playing with this mixing colour papers?)
For option 1: To find colour from achromatic.
For option 2: Have to match value of two different colours? To choose colours that has close values so it will look the same colour.
Week 7: What are interesting magazine about design?
(Find a design article that intrigued you and write about the most interesting and useful point of the article; take note of when the article was written)
Book Cover Design: (March 25,2019)
https://www.designweek.co.uk/issues/25-31-march-2019/book-covers-that-never-made-it-rejected-designs-revealed-in-new-book/
The article is about a new book called No No No No Yes, which includes 4 versions of book cover that did not make it (4 NOs) and the final used book cover (YES). The article mentions suggestions and reasons why the covers might have won the writers’, publishers’, and other production teams’ heart and why some nice covers got rejected. It is an interesting collection of covers that allows other designers to observe and analyze what clients may be looking for when designing. It is not only about the aesthetic, it is also about the communication of message. Here’s the takeaways:
For printed book:
“But a “direct” and “simple” message and good use of “colour” is often the key to finding a design that works, he adds.”
For electric book:
“so something bold often draws the eye over something restrained”.
Week 8: Publication design principles
Balance
Proportion
Sequence
Unity
Contrast
Things/Terms that I will probably forget:
Tumblr media
Week 9: Find a really good and really bad book or magazine cover; analyze why they are good & bad.
Tumblr media
Left Cover (Bad):
Unclear Hierarchy: too much colours, the use of many shapes (star, bars), too many bolded/ highlighted/ drop shadowed word: which is hard to know what is more important as everything seems screaming out
No whitespace, everything is compact: for eyes, this might be too much, tired to read before actually start reading
The only success is probably the use of handsome guy to attract potential customers.
Right Cover: (Good)
Image matching heading “Companions in Life”: Correct image choice as I cannot agree more when looking at its eyes. (using empathy to attract readers)
Simple and clear: The hierarchy, theme is clear. It does not list all the potentially interesting feature articles title on cover. It only puts shape and use different font (probably bolded) typeface to create the contrast, which is simple and on point.
* Both covers interestingly used RED as main heading/theme, which is really popping out and readers can know the theme of the mag immediately.
Week 10-11: AUDIENCE, CONCEPTS & SEMIOTICS
1. Signifier: SFU
2. Signified: education, mountain, expensive
3. Icon: (it resembles the signs or the idea) e.g. F ~ facebook?
4. Index: (direct link between the sign and object; a reference; an indicator) e.g. toilet signs (the cartoon)
5. Symbol: (abstract sign; no logical connection between the sign and what it means; culturally learnt) e.g. country flag
6. Paradigm and Syntagm :
Tumblr media
Paradigm: a chain or collection of signs which invoke each other because they are culturally, paradigmatically
Black Panther: power, authority
Syntagm: the structural relation that combines signs in code-specific ways.
Color: blue, gold, silver= wealth, high-technology, weapons, royalty
Size of characters: like the order of importance to the narrative; who got most of the power and who is threatening the power
Hierarchy: top-down, from big to small to title
Symmetrical balance: fight to be a stable, steady country?
The pointing “N” in title to sub-heading: metaphor the use of weapons/ metals, fights for the power

American pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer says it could have an emergency COVID-19 vaccine all set as early as this fall and a larger present by year’s end, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal Oxford University states it’s likewise on track to have a coronavirus vaccine readily available by September.
The New York-based Pfizer partnered with German business BioNTech and sped up the typical timeline for creating a vaccine to eliminate a virus that has put the world to a near stop.
Pfizer and BioNTech began checking on people in Germany on April 23 with 12 people being administered the vaccine, BNT162, in a Phase 1/2 medical study, according to a joint declaration As testing continues in Germany, approximately 200 volunteers age 18 to 55 will be offered a range of dosages to determine the optimal dose for upcoming research studies.
Evaluating in the United Sates will start as soon as the business have approval from the Fda; that might start within a week, according to the WSJ Journal.
The business expect to have data on the trials by late June.
” The two companies prepare to collectively conduct scientific trials for the COVID-19 vaccine candidates at first in Europe and the U.S., throughout numerous research study websites,” Pfizer states in its first quarter report published online Tuesday. “The companies approximate that there is potential to supply millions of vaccine doses by the end of 2020, subject to technical success of the development program and approval by regulatory authorities, and the potential to rapidly scale up the capacity to produce numerous millions of dosages in 2021.”
Oxford University has had the ability to speed up its procedure by using technology its lab established in previous vaccine projects. “Well personally, I have a high degree of self-confidence about this vaccine, since it’s innovation that I have actually utilized prior to,” stated professor of vaccinology Sarah Gilbert to CBS News. Oxford is likewise currently in the phase of providing injections to hundreds of healthy volunteers in hopes of informing not just if the vaccine is safe however if it works.
Oxford researchers created the new vaccine by inserting genes for a spikey protein that studs the outer surface of the brand-new coronavirus into another, harmless virus. The idea: The immune system will spot the foreign protein and make antibodies to combat it, primed to respond rapidly if the individual becomes exposed to COVID-19
The timelines for both vaccines are positive considering that inoculations normally take years to establish. Professionals have warned that even if early studies go well, it will be at least a year prior to any are offered for widespread usage.
This is among dozens of vaccines being checked in a race to find a magic bullet to stop the spread of the coronavirus. On April 20, the World Health Company recorded 5 vaccines in medical examination and 71 vaccines in preclinical assessment around the world.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

An Inside Look Into the Lifetime of a Police Canine
Have you ever ever seen a police canine in motion up shut and private? Just lately, I had the possibility to not solely see one in every of these heroes observe doing his job, however I acquired shut sufficient to have him give my nostril kisses. Gasp — you let an enormous, imply, police canine lick your face? Yup, and I acquired to pet him and provides his bum some loving scratches as properly.
Sargent’s story
Sargent and officer Wyrick. Pictures courtesy Wendy Newell.
The pup who slobbered on my face, with my consent, in fact, was Sargent, a 9½-year-old Belgian Malinois and senior workforce member of the Fontana police Okay-9 unit in Fontana, California. Sergeant Kurt Schlotterbeck, who instructions the Okay-9 unit, explains, “The notion of a police canine is that of a vicious animal. Our canines aren’t vicious. Each coaching, earlier than they begin, we stroll as much as them, shake the handler’s hand, and pet the canine on the top. We wish them [the dogs] to be social.”
I sat down with Sergeant Schlotterbeck and Sargent’s handler, Officer Mark Wyrick, to be taught extra concerning the work they and their canines do. Wyrick, like all of the Okay-9 handlers within the unit, hung out on the standard police drive earlier than making use of to the specialised Okay-9 workforce. As soon as chosen, he was paired with Sargent, and the 2 went by way of a 240-hour coaching course to make them a talented workforce.
Sargent, like all canines presently on the Fontana drive, is cross-trained in two specialties. His coaching contains suspect apprehension and narcotics/firearms detection. Wyrick and Sargent’s coaching didn’t finish after that first in depth session; it’s steady. Many of the unit’s canines work for six to seven years, beginning between the ages of 18 months to three years outdated. Even Sargent, who’s close to retirement age, takes half in 10-hour observe periods with the unit and particular person coaching with Wyrick throughout their shift. Wyrick has a chew sleeve and different coaching instruments in his patrol car so he can meet up with one other Okay-9 unit for some in-field observe.
Sargent at work
My go to was throughout one in every of their lengthy days at their coaching facility, so I skilled Sargent’s expertise firsthand. The Fontana Okay-9 Unit has sturdy group involvement. Its civilian-led help group, Fontana Police K9 Friends, raises funds to verify the canines and handlers have the gear wanted to do their jobs and hold them protected. This included the donation of a coaching facility that homes a variety of observe constructions and gear. It was at this coaching facility that one in every of Wyrick’s fellow Okay-9 officers suited up in a full chew swimsuit that enables Sargent to indicate off his apprehension abilities. Every human member of the workforce takes turns in these fits taking part in the a part of the suspect.
“One of the vital vital issues is having a decoy who has discovered to know the canine’s habits. When you’re coaching them [apprehension dogs] you don’t wish to practice them the mistaken manner. Decoys are as vital a bit of the puzzle because the handler is,” Schlotterbeck explains. The swimsuit does a wonderful job of retaining the fake legal from getting damage. The truth is, analyzing a canine’s chew stress is a crucial a part of the job. You don’t desire a pup who’s hesitant to take somebody down, bites down with too little stress or releases that stress earlier than being advised to take action by his handler.
Sargent sat patiently subsequent to Wyrick ready to be advised what to do. As soon as commanded — Sargent’s instructions are all in French — he jumped ahead, operating at full velocity towards the decoy till shut sufficient to leap and latch on to an arm. There he stayed till Wyrick commanded Sargent to launch and return to his aspect. Apprehension observe continued with completely different eventualities designed to have Sargent observe responding rapidly and precisely to his companion. Downtime with Sargent
When not working, Sargent might be present in his kennel in Wyrick’s patrol car or at his residence, which Sargent shares with Wyrick, his spouse, two human siblings and two small canines.
Fontana police Okay-9 automobiles are geared up to maintain the canine officers protected even in the course of the triple digit temperatures that hit their space of California. Ought to the within of the car turn into too scorching, the automobile’s followers activate, home windows roll down, and the horn goes off as does an alarm hooked up to the officer’s belt.
Working Canines Are Simply Like Us
At residence, Sargent has a kennel exterior and a crate inside, which he prefers and the place he sleeps at evening. The drive has strict guidelines on what occurs to the canines when their handlers will not be at residence. Though Sargent will get alongside very properly with everybody in the home, when Wyrick isn’t there Sargent is in his crate or kennel. When Sargent does retire, Wyrick will purchase him again from town, and the proficient pooch will reside out his life as a household pet — a really well-trained household pet!
When their companion retires, officers return to the standard drive. Nevertheless, Wyrick has been chosen to steer a brand new specialised group inside the Okay-9 unit. His new companion will probably be educated in Digital Media Digital Storage Machine detection, a brand new self-discipline for working canines that enables officers to find and establish storage units, like thumb drives, usually utilized in baby pornography, baby sexual exploitation and terrorism instances. Wyrick is worked up for the chance and to stick with the Okay-9 unit, though he’ll undoubtedly miss working with Sargent. “So long as I’ve been a police officer he [Sargent] has been the very best companion I’ve ever had.”

They’ve discovered that the vests will not be solely heavy and scorching however prohibit the animal’s motion and talent to get into small areas, like crawl areas, that they’re usually requested to look. If there’s a excessive chance suspect has a gun and can use it the officers will, almost definitely, discover a resolution to apprehend that doesn’t embody the canine.)
Q: Are there sure well being points that Sargent’s job causes him to have, and the way do you handle these? A: Sargent makes use of flea/tick drugs like another canine. We monitor his weight identical to an athlete to make sure he’s prepared for work and any potential job. (Author’s notice: When you observe Sargent on-line, chances are you’ll discover that his tail is “docked.” His tail was partially amputated because of the progress of a mass that had turn into a well being subject.)
