Front row seat tonight at Operation Mincemeat!

…which is much less glamorous than it sounds, because this wonderful play is, unfortunately, still relegated to the Fortune Theatre. One day you will tour, Mincemeat, and I will see you in an environment fit for the 5’ 1” with weirdly long feet.

(Yes, I currently have a job researching theatrical history. No, that does not necessarily mean I enjoy actually attending - or working in - historic theatres)

Brief notes:

I’m pretty sure it was Holly Sumpton playing Monty (my favourite) tonight. Really embarrassing if I’m wrong about that given how close I was, but I’m bad with faces. She plays the role in a slightly more grounded, gentle way than I’d previously seen/heard on the soundtrack. It makes for a different feeling story, because Monty feels a lot more human this way, which in turn makes everything else feel a little less outlandish as well. Not a criticism of anyone, this is why I love theatre - different people in the same roles results in slightly different stories! And that is so cool!

also she is very pretty hi Holly Sumpton if you’re out there I was the woman in the red coat who was staring at you like a cat all evening, I think we made eye contact a few times, I’m sorry you’re just very very talented and also beautiful

also also she did the funniest goddamn voice for her bit of Das Übermensch

The whole cast is great to be clear I just really like Monty. Or, enjoy? Is probably the better word? I hate that I like him? I find him the most interesting. So I very much had a point of focus tonight

But interestingly, I believe it was mostly covers/alternates this evening, so that was cool. Jonty Peach and Geri Allen (again, hope that’s right) made a great Hester and Jean, respectively. Teared up a little at their Useful

The first time I saw the show, the follow spot was late to Spilsbury’s appearance during his reprise. I’ve seen a promo video where it’s on time, and it was on time tonight, so I think the first time was a mistake, but I actually think that was funnier - like even the LX operator was surprised

Tiny bit of corpsing in the All The Ladies bit of Glitzy Finale when they flubbed the words a little, I could see the actors laughing about it, it was cute. Think Sumpton might have been fighting laughs at one or two points as well. I love live theatre so much

(no one who doesn’t know that song off by heart and wasn’t sitting in the front row would have ever known - that’s professionalism!)

I didn’t realise until today that they sing the final Sail on Boys bit of Glitzy Finale in their natural voices. But I could hear Seán Carey switch into Irish, and Jonty Peach sounded different too. I think that is wonderful. I adore the ending already, and that detail just adds to it. Such a good play.

Since we're on the train of not clogging the TMA tags with posts about The Magnus Protocol, let's also please stop tagging posts from your RP blogs with the character tags.

Reblog so this reaches more people in the fandom and those who may need to see it can see it.

If you do this, I don't hate you. But please let's be mindful.

I know you want your blogs to be noticed and to get interaction, but tagging every rp post with a main character/fandom tag only clogs said tags with RP posts. Not only that, but many use heavily edited fonts and that, I've been shown, breaks text-to-speech horribly. It makes disabled people's browsing of the tags very difficult because (as said by disabled friend) "every five post, I get a scrambled nonsense audio that takes like 3 minutes to read on the text-to-speech, let alone try to read it by myself with my poor eyesight to figure out if it's and actual fandom post, RP or what".

I hate making these posts because I feel like a bit of an asshole, like, I know most of you aren't doing that to cause trouble or to intentionally clog the tags, but it's difficult to browse non-RP posts when the tag is half-flooded with RP posts. Please stop doing this and remove the main tags from your previous posts (there are ways to mass delete a tag, I think it's ab X-kit thing!).

I've spoken to other people who are also noticing this issue and as a former roleplayer I felt I should speak up.

(Also, please if you know someone who does this, do not send hate to them. This is not a post to incite that. This is just me sharing tumblr RP etiquette from back in the day when I used to RP here in several fandoms. Do tell them, politely, but do not harass or be disrespectful)

Tumblr has no algorithm, and yet half of the posts from character tags I follow are from RP blogs even though I don't follow any nor have liked/reblogged their posts. How? Because these blogs tag their asks, their starters, their IC posts WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER TAGS AND THE MAIN FANDOM TAGS.

As a former tumblr RPer, I'm asking you not to do this. Instead I bring you a suggestion. What can you do instead of tagging your RP posts?

Make a promo post.

Yes! A promotional post of your blog with all the info, you can even add an edit (but please ask for permission if you use someone's art and credit them). Kind of an intro to your blog so people know "ah, I might like following this person's RP" or "cool! I'd like to RP with them!". I did this a lot and it helped enormously! And yes, you may tag these with the main character/fandom tag, but they're ONE post. They won't clog the tags like tagging every single one of your RP/asks.

You know when Athena first entered the cockpit to check on the first officer, she was sitting on the left seat, but when she came back to actually fly the plane, she chose the other one. It could be due to the hole on top, but all you need to know is Jem the child prodigy ended up sitting on the left with Athena on the right.

For historical reasons, the norm in aviation, even to this day, is for captains to sit on the left and first officers on the right. (Interestingly, it's the complete opposite in a helicopter) And as I've said before, flying a highly computerized fly-by-wire airliner doesn't usually require 2 pilots controlling it like in the olden days. What a modern cockpit looks like most of the time is one pilot acting as pilot flying (PF), they take direct control of the plane, mostly for takeoff/landing. The other pilot is therefore the pilot monitoring (PM) or pilot not flying (PNF), and their duties include obviously, monitoring the flight management and control system, monitoring the PF's actions, read checklists and handle communications.

In the manual pitch down scene, Jem was the one pushing the sidestick, making direct control input, while Athena was talking on the phone with ATC. That's intriguingly kind of a working flight crew. That's actually some pretty good CRM (Crew Resource Management), better than some real life cockpits.

So yeah, kid is landing that plane.

As for the vague post, I was referring to a... uh, not really a theory, but more of an observation, that Athena seems to have both her hands on her harness when the plane is coming down in the 8x03 promo, and she would never let a kid fly that plane alone, so there must be someone else more qualified sitting next to her. (Hinting towards Tommy, I presume.) First, I hope they aren't actually landing in that shot, touching down with nose down is a very bad idea. But more importantly you basically never see 2 pilots moving their sidesticks at the same time.

It's a Skytrain™, not an Airbus, I know, but it's an Airbus cockpit set and those are Airbus sidesticks, so I'll talk about Airbus. Boeing aircrafts have yokes that are mechanically linked, when one moves the other moves the same way at the same time, so if both pilots decide to make control inputs, the other can feel it too. The sidesticks on Airbus aircrafts on the other hand, are not linked. If both pilots move their sidesticks to the same position, the computer adds up the inputs, so you'll end up with double the amount of movement you're aiming for. If they move the sidesticks in 2 different directions, the computer averages them out while yelling "dual input!" at the pilots.

Athena better not touch that sidestick if she's not 100% sure what she's doing, or else they might end up like Air France 447. (Don't click that link if you have fear of flying)

Hello there! I hope you are doing well (as well as someone who has completed watching season 2) First of all congrats on moving into a new house! I'm still having lots of Feelings™ to process after finishing the second season.. oh god the acting, the genuine emotions on the faces of both Michael and David this time around... I'm simultaneously radiating happiness and being utterly destroyed. And the increasing intimacy between them in the interviews is not helping matters either... I think (this has been marinating in my head for a while) one of the reasons they are doing this is to physically reassure each other that they are not apart, they are still a team and still on their side, because after the heart wrenching ending of the season, it would have been very hard for them to come to terms with it, as they had put their whole beings, their whole souls into playing Azi and Crowley, which might have made it difficult to draw a line where the characters ended and they begin... So the touches, their body language became a sort of coping mechanism, something which said 'hey, don't worry, I'm still here.. I have not gone away, we're still together' and this makes me wanna cry again 😭

I hope my word vomit makes an iota of sense (English is not my first language by a long shot, so) and I hope you do find some time to rest and have a warm beverage of your choice while unwinding. Stay safe and blessed!!

Hi there! Thank you so much for the congrats on my move, I truly appreciate it. I've actually had a very rough couple of days, as on top of the move, my Facebook account was hacked earlier this week, and it essentially pushed me over the edge and I was crying for much of Monday and felt like I had a crying "hangover" all day Tuesday.

You do not at all have to apologize for your Ask--your English is very good!--and I'm glad to read your thoughts as I make my way through all the Anons still residing in my inbox. Truly, we are fortunate to have GO 2 and Michael and David to focus on, as well as the abundance of interviews we've gotten after months and months of little to no content.

To start: I absolutely agree with you, re: the intimacy between Michael and David in these interviews. It's been so fascinating to see them get more flirty and touchy-feely with each progressive interview (I know we don't know the order in which they were done, but I imagine the flirting/touching increased as the day went on). And while I can definitely see them doing what you described--reassuring each other, touching and being close as a coping mechanism--my feeling is they already did all that last year, probably right after filming That Scene. (There is actually a gorgeous MS/DT fic on AO3 right now that depicts exactly that, and it's definitely worth reading.)

But in terms of all the intimacy and touching in the more recent interviews (from last month), I think what we're seeing is something else. I think Michael and David are beyond the need for reassurance because they are so comfortable with each other and know they're still together, permanently. There's no more of the uncertainty of parting ways after the promo interviews end--only the promise of seeing each other again as soon as both their lives and schedules allow it.

There have been so many moments of telling body language and touches and expressions, but if I had to pick a favorite (well, a few), one would be them walking arm-in-arm onto The One Show:

...And of course (and possibly most notable), Michael and David seemingly unconsciously moving closer to each other in the TV Insider interview:

It's so telling that there is no urgency or desperateness to any of this--only comfort and very much that sense of "on our side" that you mentioned. Walking out arm-in-arm as they did in particular adds to that "us against the world" feeling and the not-so-subtle implication that while they were Michael Sheen and David Tennant on the season one press tour, here, now, they are Michael and David. Inseparable, always intertwined, and having so much more of themselves in the characters of Aziraphale and Crowley than in the first season.

So yes, everything you wrote absolutely did make sense, and I appreciate you writing in to share your thoughts with me. I have a lot more thoughts/analysis about GO season 2 still to share, which I hope to do in response to the numerous Anons still waiting in my inbox. Thanks for writing in! x

been listening to rebel at heart thinking about how it yes it’s 100% a ashton song but could be a calum song yk? and insomnia gives way to some lite psychoanalysis and I was thinking, calum has this lovely quietly unhinged, rebellious even, personality and it makes sense he tends to be drawn to people with kinda unhinged personalities too or at least those who are boldly themselves and that’s not quite the path of what they’re ‘supposed to’ be. but also how sad it is whenever a louder personality drowns him out because he’s truly got so much to give and he does give it but he is quiet too and it’s like, you’ve gotta not steal his spotlight. not think because he’s on the quiet side he’s got nothing to say or express because he absolutely does. it’s such a sweet combination but it must be so hard to fit the bill of someone who works there really well. all the band members do in their own ways I guess and I do think that’s a big part of what makes 5sos so successful—and especially if ashton did in any part write rebel at heart for him (I don’t know, it doesn’t really matter, but it absolutely describes calum and I can never unsee that). but in terms of a partner. I just hope whatever happens whether brandy does end up learning how to be that for him and they do end up being together in the future or he keeps looking, that he finds someone who’s just the right balance for him. I can see how that would be hard though for a lot of reasons but he absolutely does deserve that and I just hope we can talk about and appreciate this and really see him for who he is yk? idk if this is the style of ask you like but I just wanted to say hopefully nice things about calum

Why should you read what I mentally call the booty shorts saga, actually known as "The Semi-Annual Non-Denominational Winter Holiday Gift Swap"?

This sticks close to canon, so. . . do you want a story about booty shorts and nonsense to suddenly give you So Many Feels?

This is a collaboration between the amazing @ladydragonkiller and myself, and it was our first foray into writing and posting fanfic. I love it. Go read LadyDragonKiller's other stuff if you're a Mechs fan.

Why should you read The Stars Claim Them?

I started this series with imagining Lyfrassir Edda surviving the Bifrost Incident, and then ending up at the Magnus Institute, so it is a TMA/Mechs crossover.

I've been consistently posting for over a year. Two years as of this March, and I am so excited for that :) Currently, we're nearly 100,000 words in and going, posting right now is concurrent with TMA season 2, and I've had so much fun.

This is the fic where I stare canon in the eye, say "coward", and save every single character I can manage.

Be prepared for a very slow burn indeed, but the Violinspector element is certainly Very Much There.

We've had road trips, heists, blood snakes, rubber ducks, far too many Michaels, and more. I did a whole Peter Pan arc. It's nonsensical and amazing and I love it.

If you enjoyed LadyDragonKiller's Raphaella backstory, I have some Easter egg references to it scattered throughout, because we brainstorm together. I consider it canon to this series, as far as that goes, and I have fun planting those :)

Why should you read anything from Corner of Dreams?

Those were oneshots I wrote last year as a part of a challenge to myself!

The first one is the angstiest Toy Soldier thing I could manage without crying. Have fun! Bring tissues!

The second is a fun little Violinspector thing that I really enjoyed writing. It just amused me so much to think about. And that ending. . . I like to think it ended happily, but there's no guarantee, is there?

The third is a Brian/Galahad oneshot. It could go so many different directions after the ending, most of which would absolutely change up canon. I like to think it wouldn't end sadly. Probably.

If there's enough enjoyment of these, there's two more I might add one day, based on Alice and on Gunpowder Tim vs the Moon Kaiser.

Also, if you're trying to get a taste of what I've written, one of these is probably a lot easier to start with than TSCT. These are each under 5,000 words.

Why should you read I Got You, Babe?

It's now several chapters in and we already have the start of some fun stuff going on. We've got Violinspector angst, Nastya doing interesting stuff post-Out. . . Why wouldn't you?

Also, I'm having far too much fun whenever I get the time to write on it. It's going to be interesting. I can't wait to share more.

Now, the rumors about Sophie and Joe's divorce are slowly changing. Sources now say they already had problems back in April, or that they had "schedules problems with Joe touring and Sophie filming all the time".

While the rumors are less about "Sophie is a bad mom" and more about "they're both at fault", I still find it annoying. The thing is, you can't paint Sophie as a partying girl, doing nothing first, then say she's a very working girl, focusing on her career.

And as a fan of Sophie, I have a hard time buying this narrative. It may sound more reasonable but still... it doesn't align well with what she said and her career. What I'm going to say on this post are all speculations based on she said and did in the public eye. So maybe I'm wrong, but I wanted to express my thoughts.

First look at her projects :

- The Staircase

- A cameo of five minutes in Do Revenge

- An episode for a children program Storybots

I exclude Survive since she filmed it from September to November 2019, before they had their children.

I'll include the fact she was supposed to film a movie last year Wardriver with Dane Dehaan. It has been abandoned or at least Sophie left the project. It's not on her imdb page and we didn't hear about it from a long time ago. There was also this project Come as you are hyped back in 2022 but never really announced. Both projects don't appear on her imdb anymore.

And obsviouly Joan, she's filming it right now since May.

And now what... ?

- The Staircase has been filmed in 2021 for a few months in Atlanta. At least from June to August. I don't think we know exactly how many months, but we know at least one thing. Sophie got a house in Atlanta so she would have her daughter with her. I have no reason to doubt it. To me, it sounds like Sophie was trying to find a balance between her work and family, she apparently did it.

- Do revenge... so it was a cameo. I'm no expert, but I don't think it took a whole month to shoot it, maybe a few days. Especially she did while filming the staircase. So it couldn't take much. And from what I remember, the shooting of the movie itself had been one month or two. So well, not too much.

- Storybots, I have no idea when they filmed it. Since she has red hair, I'd say between summer 2021 and summer 2022. And like the cameo, I don't think it took much time either. Maybe a few days, or a week or two.

Yes she has been working. And actually, I believe The Staircase and Do Revenge have been good choices. So I'm not saying she stopped her career. But to me at least, she doesn't sound like someone who focused more on her career than her family. I might even add that between her two big projects (so the staircase and Joan) there is a gap of almost two years.

Other things...

- During the staircase promo, she said many things... first, that she had a house in Atlanta to have her daughter with her during the shooting.

- Then, that she chooses her projects very carefully because she doesn't want to be away from her daughters.

- I'll add another thing... Joe has been spotted many times with Sophie in UK from April/May to July. So it's a bit hard, to me at least, to believe the absent mother rumor.

So in my opinion, from her interviews and career, she was trying to balance her professional life and personal life.

More, I'd say... pick a struggle, she either focus more on her acting projects than her family or either chooses to spend her time partying.

If you're still there... women are allowed to be more than one thing : mother or wife or working woman. And a woman can be all the things at the same time. I'm tired of those medias trying to paint Sophie as an absent mother.

“So I take it that it’s okay?” Tommy asks, and Buck’s so dizzy and breathless he barely registers it. “Huh?” he blinks as Tommy pulls away to look at him, a little amused but also almost… wonderstruck, analyzing, as if cataloging yet another piece of information he learns about Buck. Buck knows, because he does the same thing with every little thing he finds out about Tommy. He wants to know everything, and he can’t wait to keep learning. “Me calling you baby? That’s okay?” He’s smiling, and of course he has to know, based on Buck’s reaction, but he’s still making sure, and Buck thinks he’s going to melt into a puddle all over the backseat of the car right now. Tommy’s just so sweet and gentle, and thoughtful, and he always makes sure Buck’s good and comfortable, while also remaining confident and taking charge, and it- it makes Buck’s insides flutter. What a fucking man he somehow got. He doesn’t want to ever let him go. It’s only their second date, and he knows he’s getting ahead of himself in true Buck fashion, but he just- this one feels different. He really hopes it leads somewhere. “Tommy.” Buck rolls his eyes, and his face splits into a grin. “Of course it is. It’s much, much more than okay.” he gulps, eyes falling to Tommy’s lips again.  “Okay.” his lips curl into that smile – that easy, happy, excited smile that Buck’s loved since the moment he saw it for the first time, the one gracing Tommy’s face after he kissed Buck for the first time and asked if that was okay. “I figured. Just wanted to make sure.” he whispers, leaning in again, breath ghosting over Buck’s lips.  “That’s so hot, you know?” Buck breathes out, and kisses a chuckle off of Tommy’s lips.

it's a little disjointed for now bc I started with madney, but then I started rewriting it bc I didn't like how i started it, but here's part of the first version with madney, it's gonna be better after rewriting lol (I have more notes than actual fic so far)

Ooh you watched it too! For some reason, the two seconds of Vincent we got reminded me of Tystar, but flipped.

Re: the venom potency thing, I was actually wondering. Am I remembering right that there’s a bit of a semantic distinction between a true vampire and a vampire master? Like, courtesy of Cazador and the Rite of Perfect Slaughter, we don’t have a ton of variation in the vampiric ecosystem of Baldur’s Gate, but aren’t there covens of vampires elsewhere, like in Amn or Athkatla or something? Where there are multiple true vampires with their own spawn, but a single vampire lord? Because presumably Amanita Szarr, when she was being pressured into partaking in the “family rites,” wasn’t expected to usurp Donnella or whomever, or Cazador or anything like that. So maybe Vincent was a true vampire from a different sire, but because Cazador is the vampire lord of Baldur’s Gate, Vincent is still “a servant of [that] dread master.” Hence the second cousin twice removed brother. And why a certain murder-happy vampire lord might have potentially benefited from sending him on an errand where he was a tad less likely to return (don’t trust Cazador, don’t trust him AT ALL, I suspect foul play and I’ll blame him even if it isn’t his fault)

Or there’s always the chance it’s due to whatever is keeping a vampire’s head even slightly animated, given that IIRC decapitation is one of the tried-and-true methods for vampiric permadeath. And whatever is keeping it generating any amount of blood. Cuz while head wounds bleed a lot, the head is mostly bones and brains and muscles and juices. Not a lot in the way of large blood vessels. So something’s squidgy either way. (Honestly, wouldn’t be surprised if Araj wasn’t involved in some of the alchemical nonsense. In wider FR lore, her family has a history of mucking about with illithid blood via having their daughters go and boink with them, and they kept vampire illithids as pets/livestock, so. Add in her creepy biting fetish, and this is firmly in her wheelhouse, I’d say.)

Does anyone have a copy of the new DMG/MM/whatever manual has vampire details in it? Cuz I think I remember part of the promo for this event was that they’d be playing around with new features from 2024 5e. Maybe there’s new info? Who knows! Not I.

Also also, upon hearing Vincent say “darling,” I am firmly and irrevocably convinced that he’s where Astarion picked up the affect. Cuz shamelessly gratuitous flirt seems like an odd match for a 39 year old magistrate, questionable morality or not, at least for something that makes up such a huge part of his outward personality. So I’m imagining Vincent helping him build a mask to draw people in. I’m also imagining them as like an ace/qp relationship, cuz Astarion deserves more platonic cuddles in his life.

In conclusion, I’ve had Vincent for less than a day and if anything else happens to him, etc etc and so on.

Hi there! Yes, I most definitely saw the one-shot as I am a huge D&D nerd haha (just ran a Western-inspired game last Saturday for a friend's birthday), so I love to see the BG3 companions being played in this format. I didn't know that they were trying out 2024/One-D&D mechanics though! That may explain some of the vampire lore discrepancies, though I would be surprised 😂

It's interesting, Cazador Szarr is called both a vampire lord (basically leader of all types of lesser undead) and a master vampire (specifically can lead large gangs of spawn) in bg3, but descriptions of both seem pretty scarce via my minimal FR Wiki dives. While Vincent being a true vampire could explain his venom potency, it would seriously lower my opinion of him, because we would have no reason to believe either via lore or d&d mechanics that he'd have to follow Cazador unwillingly. Regardless, you do bring up an interesting point about Amanita Szarr and their family rites--one could argue she was made into a true vampire, not a spawn, which would certainly complicate her story (though I'd say, even though people complain about Astarion not turning his romanced Tav/Durge immediately into a true vampire, that does seem kinda risky given just how much power you'd get on top of suddenly dealing with sanguine hunger, so I've always assumed she was made a spawn).

I don't have a copy of the new 2024 d&d rules myself! Others feel free to weigh in if you know whether they might explain anything new about d&d vampires 😊 though tbh my best guess is that Jeremy Crawford, as big of a lore geek as he must be, just didn't think too hard about the implications before deciding on a dice roll that Astarion would know the decapitated vampire they found 😂 it made for some amazing roleplay, so it was worth it!!

And as someone who friendzoned him my first run, I wholeheartedly agree Astarion deserves all the platonic cuddles 🥰

Henry Getting Nina’d During TFS and Why It Might Be Tied To Scott Clarke’s Absence

James and Stav and Wilbur I have been chatting lately about the idea of TFS as a NINA simulation, and I know James has made some wonderful posts such as this post regarding TFS and NINA.

And today, I have some more thoughts re: TFS being a NINA simulation.

So, first of all, I talked in this post the other day about the code on the TFS a website have “Project One” in it vs The Nina Project ans Project Talisman.

And as we know, TFS being a NINA simulation would explain Henry’s weird age during TFS- because he SHOULD be 12 in 1959, and he’s a “freshman” during TFS/closer to 15, it seems. But, if it’s not actually 1959, and TFS is a simulation of 1959 and Henry’s actually 15 in the lab, then it would explain his age perfectly, and would also explain why he’s aged up but characters like Alice aren’t- because Alice isn’t being NINA’d/she’s dead/part of the simulation/she appears as she did in 1959 in the show.

And now, I know I’ve talked about this specific TFS twitter post/promo before, but I also want to take a closer look at some of the wording of it:

“And we can’t forget, Henry Creel will be a freshman when we turn back the clocks in Hawkins to 1959.”

So, first of all here, we’ve got “turn back the clocks,” which, yes, as we know, Henward literally turned back a clock with his mind during one of the Creel house scenes that plays during Henward’s 1979 nina monologue. But also, this wording really reminds me of what Brenner said to describe nina/to ask El to go back into the nina tank:

Both lines are referring to going back in time.

And there’s even the wording of “we can’t forget” vs all of the memory imagery with NINA/references to El having forgotten during NINA/Brenner telling El to remember:

And speaking of forgetting, there’s also what I talked about in this post (and in another post I can’t find rn) regarding Eddie Munson vs Edward Creel and the idea of being forgotten:

Which, the connection between that TFS tweet’s line about “can’t forget” and the Eddie/Edward stuff is especially interesting considering that the “turn back the clocks” line from the TFS post is also connected to Edward because like I talked about in this post, the Creel boy that we see during that turning back the clock scene is likely Edward.

And also, we’ve also got the Hawkins sign scratched out to say “hell” in S3 vs Henward referring to the NINA simulation of the lab as “hell”:

And Hawkins is also referred to as “home”/is the home of the characters versus Brenner telling El that she’s “home” when she’s in the NINA bunker (and the lab is frequently tied to “home” in ST/even Hopper uses “home” in relation to it in S3):

Hell, there’s also the shot of Hopper touching the wall where the gate/crack was and saying “nobody’s home” is shot very similarly to Brenner touching the crack/wall in the lab during NINA:

And interestingly enough, too, Hopper also says “I want you to feel like this can still be your home,” while he’s standing in HNL- which, while he’s referring to Hawkins on the surface, it’s definitely an intentional choice to have him say this line in HNL & write it in a way where the use of the word “this” makes it more ambiguous regarding whether he’s referring to Hawkins or the lab (and again, on the surface, I definitely think that Hopper himself is referring to Hawkins, but I think the line is written in that ambiguous way to add subtext/create that lab-home-hawkins connection):

My point is, the town of Hawkins is frequently referred to with the same wording as NINA is, creating a connection between the two.

Which, that doesn’t prove that TFS is going to be a simulation, but the connection between Hawkins and the NINA-Simulated HNL is interesting because it’s a connection that would make sense in the context of the idea of a simulated Hawkins during TFS.

And considering that The Truman Show is on the S4 board and very much seems to have inspired nina, I won’t be surprised if Henry has his own Truman show moments during TFS and begins to realize that it’s not real/that it’s a “silly, terrible play,” which, I talked very briefly in this post about Stranger Things and the fourth wall (something I’m going to talk about more when I finish the draft about it), but I do wonder if they’re going to break the fourth wall during TFS and not just have Henry realize that he’s in a nina simulation, but also have him realize that he’s in a play.

Which makes me think about the fact that the leaked TFS audition tapes seem to imply that the characters in the play are auditioning for a play within a play- so, even if they don’t fully break the fourth wall and have Henry realize that he’s in an actual play/don’t have him address the audience, there’s still room there for him realizing that he’s part of a play re: nina and playing a role in a simulation vs also being part of the play that’s happening in Hawkins.

And something else worth keeping in mind is all of the time travel references regarding NINA/the idea that NINA itself is more than just a simulation.

So, the events of the play wouldn’t necessarily not be real/it wouldn’t necessarily be a “it was all a dream” approach, because there’s still a very solid chance that NINA itself works similarly to a time machine (and it’s worth keeping in mind this post where I talked about NINA and Lost and Temporal Displacement and about a person’s consciousness time travelling), and that Henry being in NINA could end up affecting the events of 1959.

And also, as I mentioned in the title this all makes me wonder about Scott- because it really a coincidence that Scott is missing from TFS (which is likely a NINA simulation), and is ALSO missing from S4 (the very season where NINA is introduced)?

Especially since, like I talked about in this post, Scott has scenes that are directly referencing NINA scenes.

Did something happen to Scott when Henry and/or El used NINA? Did they mess with the timeline somehow? Is that why he isn’t present in TFS OR in S4? Why does Scott know such a weird amount of information about sensory tanks and gates and general lab stuff?

Anyway! Much to think about.

Reviewing Every UKISS Release: By Unpopular Demand

Nobody asked for this, I don't even think anybody wants this, but I have a voice, and I'm gonna use it while I have a mild mental breakdown over how long it's taking me to rip their concert DVDs and consequently breaking my only USB and therefore forcing me to shell out even more money after splurging on them. Like it's fine, it only took me two hours to rip Action after spending an hour fiddling with the damn DVD reader before giving up and using a busted old laptop.

Anyway.

So to start, some general opening remarks about this whole unasked project, some rules or whatever:

They have a ton of music. I saw someone on twitter mention it a while back, but after writing down everything I need to listen to, it's a lot. There's about 11 studio albums, 13 mini albums (granted, one is a Christmas repackage + 2 new songs), and a bunch of JP singles (most of which made it into albums, but still they had to promo those).

I have no idea what to classify their clothing album Only You as. It's only 4 songs long, but I feel like that's enough to call it a mini album/extended play/whatever? Also, it has like no presence whatsoever on YouTube or Spotify, and the only reason I remember it exists is because for some reason I have the album art on a random USB (not the one I broke).

Neither Spotify nor YouTube Music have their full discography. Spotify is missing all their JP releases prior to Panic (meaning we're missing the Christmas album and a lot of b-sides), while YouTube Music has their JP discography, but is missing Collage, Moments (funny enough, the Mysterious Lady single is still there), Mono Scandal (which was there right up until last week).

While hunting for some of their music, I found an OT6 version of Ready For U that someone mixed, and I also found out there's a version of OT6 RUN A WAY, but I don't think it exists anywhere publicly.

A lot of their songs have a bunch of different versions, courtesy of their unstable lineups, but I probably won't touch on all of them. A lot of them are from their concerts, so maybe if I do concert reviews if the DVDs start cooperating, and I'm not masochistic enough to sit through every single ManManHaNi performance.

I won't do their JP singles separately, I'll do the entire album, then do the b-sides grouped by album release.

Format is something along the lines of -- actual music, music video(s), and music show stages. I found my feelings varied quite a bit from music-music video-music show due to costuming and choreo.

This is mostly for archival purposes, as in I'm just dumping all the info I know on these releases here for myself, and whomever finds it helpful. A lot of things are from my own memories from back in the day, so they might not be totally accurate since a lot of the sources are gone. Feel free to add/correct if the 10 Kissmes on here are willing.

I'm already dreading She-Phat I remember seeing most of the episodes on The Hub then later just Youtubeing the rest.

The Pilot differences.

I have seen the SheeZaam pilot a long time ago when it was basically lost media.

I think this pilot was aired on G4 for the Midnight Spank block but I never watched it but researched about this and the Disney Shezow pilots.

I was too young to watch that and I never knew when it aired.

But I did like the ads for it.

The SheeZaam pilot looks like something I would see on Newgrounds randomly and also the origin of the laser lipstick at 02:20 but it's a actual laser instead of a lightsaber or a beam sword from smash bros.

It's pretty dated like a old school offensive Newgrounds cartoon but for a flash cartoon standards it's okay and it was made in 2005.

If this show stayed adult I know the jokes would either get better with the right writers or worse but it depends on the time period.

I would add these characters as background characters like Joe Halpern just being a trash man then later helping the new Shezow fight crime while making dated jokes and maybe be annoyed by the she puns that replace his cursing.

Maybe make Joe slowly get more progressive in later episodes.

I give it a 5/10.

The Disney Version Of Shezow.

This aired in 2007 on Disney's Shorty McShorts' Shorts pilot block where I think all the pilots never made it.

I never got to see this on my tv since back then I didn't really watch Disney a lot during those days I was mostly into Cartoon Network, Nick, and maybe other kids networks at the time.

This show really likes the dude looks like a lady joke and the no way José jokes.

I just wonder what the "I wasn't talking about the house." joke was about at 01:02-01:11.

I hope it's not bad.

I wish guy in the new show kept the fart knockers saying though.

Also add back in the bully characters and add José back in as a student that Guy knew before Maz.

This scene gave me a idea on a artwork I made with the 2012 guy looking in the mirror behind pilot guy.

Also the show made it canon that José was made to not know that Guy and Shezow are the same person which is weird to me but also had a crush on Shezow which is just Guy in bugs bunny drag but not knowing it.

I guess in the 2012 pilot they scrapped that detail.

The Shezow chant is different and its about pinching all the cheeks, the Shelair was hot pink and Sheila is just a lip tv, and feminine intuition or in the 2012 show it's She-S-P or a sixth sense.

The theme is different at 05:09-05:18.

This has the origin of the super sheslap at 03:46-03:48 and the laser lipstick returns but as a laser sword at 04:37 which is interesting to me.

This version of Shezow looks better animated for 2007 then the 2005 which was choppy and I wonder if Disney was brave enough to pick this show up would it be different then the 2012 version.

Also would Guy count as a Disney princess if they made a episode where Shezow got crowned as one?

Also the truck reminds me of the Illbleed trap with the truck from level 3.

2012 Shezow Pilot

Now we are getting into familiar territory.

The first half is a little different from the Disney pilot.

José is replaced by Maz and has more of a friendship connection than José in the pilot.

Maz has a personality unlike José who is just a joke device and falling in love with your best friend troupe.

The bullies are gone and the "I'm not talking about the house." joke was removed in this pilot.

But in the 2012 Shezow Pilot the movers saying no problem and yep when putting up the furniture in the house.

Instead of in the Disney pilot there is only one mover by himself moving everything inside the house while just saying yep, an mhm noises, yeah, and okay.

The truck crashing scene is not here in the 2012 pilot.

Both guys still have the toxic masculinity sayings like the "girly unpacking" and it's a guy thing".

Both Kelly's still are the most intelligent of the team and Guy in the 2012 makes puns right out the gate.

The 2007 guy kind of sounded a little mean and called his boy squad fart knockers.

The "I'm not talking about the house." joke gets replaced with "Nice digs." and "I wish I had a Aunt Agnus." And Maz is the one to explain what is happening to the mover in the 2012 pilot and in the 2007 pilot it was Guy who said that information.

Both Guy's both toss stuff including the urn of their dead Aunt Agnes and both make the similar saying in both scenes.

Both Guy's make the tacky ring joke.

The Shezow change chants in the 2007 and 2012 are both different.

But the 2012 version of Shezow is the best dressed of the three pilots and also I like the leopard print.

Kelly in the Disney pilot just info dumps what Shezow is while 2012 Kelly is a mega fan and wants to be Shezow. (Remember that for later.)

Both Guy's snatch the ring away from their sisters.

You know what I want to know.

How did both Guy's know the chants when they find it too girly to pay attention to it?

And both Guy's say "Say whut?" But the Disney Guy had better delivery of the joke.

I like it that this show has that Ben 10 rule where the user can't take off the ring until the user dies troupe.

The 2012 Shezow pilot has a I wonder what power I have montage.

The Shelair was behind the mirror and is a nice touch.

This shelair looks better than the 2007 Disney pilot and Shelia went from being a mouth tv to being a Ai like character similar to Karen in Spongebob.

Guy is pretty good at driving even doing the MIB ceiling driving to avoid traffic.

Shezow is as fast as sonic with super speed but running in heels is something to work on.

I like it that the show let Maz be part of the Shezow squad instead of being the guesser on why Guy keeps leaving. This is way better than what they did to José.

Also Maz saying a whole bunch of shepuns to guy and him looking annoyed is pretty cool.

I thought they would have made Maz a toxic person but he is just a happy chill guy.

Guy had to say Sheyeah to change back while in the Disney and SheeZaam pilots I think the power just poofs away then reappears when danger is near but I'm not sure.

Also Sheroes are the canon fan name similar to bronies for Mlp.

I remember the Shezow Creator having a tumblr where you can ask him questions but it's long gone now but I know a few things from looking at Tumblr from the outside without a account in the past.

Like Shezap is both male and female.

And how Aunt Agnes died and who killed her.

Shezow and Logan did go out but it was for a Shezow thing.

The creator is okay with Guy and Maz being a thing.

Maz's parents if shown were one is male and one is female.

Is a White and Asian couple.

Hahaha this ask makes me feel like we went through some sort of historic moment— and we did, canon riara scenes that weren’t 2 seconds long!! REJOICE! Anyway, the funniest reception to those scenes were casual watchers of the show being like “…wait…is there something going on between…Kiara and Rafe?” and the “guys… what if… just WALK WITH ME HERE…what if they had a thing during her kook year” and I was like yes 🤗 come to the dark side 🥰 it was near impossible to not become a shipper with all the tropes and tension they put between the two! Not to mention Maddie and Drew have such palpable chemistry and they were able to showcase that. I remember that Maddie and Drew ended up doing a lot of the promo for the show together too (also think that was partly due to Rudy not wanting to do promo? I imagine they would’ve wanted to pair the two romantic leads in promotions but I digress) which was great for us. A lot of the promo was shot pre season 3 release so I think that informed a lot of what they said during the interviews, there’s just one I’m thinking of in particular where Drew and Maddie say stuff about how Riara would be weird— I wonder if they’d change their tune knowing how the audience reacted to their scenes. It seemed like the were preemptively squashing anything to make sure people didn’t come for them.

It was a beautiful time in the fandom, personally I’m still riding off the high of having such an insane arc for those two characters 🫂

My other dead dove is actually loosely inspired by season 3! It’s focuses more on the Rafe side of the story and what he probably gets up to with a loooottt of creative liberties 🫣

I finally read Portfes on the en server and it's such a fun one! I really liked it. And so I was inspired to write a brief summary of how my OCs would be like in it (the ones that already had a class. I wasn't sure about Akshaya. If there's interest, I might think it more and add her too~)

Anyway, big text under the cut C:

Dillon: Class D (with Sebek, Malleus and Floyd). They keep sending him to do errands because he eats the cotton candy if he's at the food stand. He mostly just hangs around Sebek and chats otherwise. Malleus is amused with him because he isn't afraid of him at all and talks to him normally, while also looking at him with a weird admiration and calling him "Waka-sama-senpai". He's actually not too bad at dealing with the costumer because he's worked at the Monstro Lounge a lot. He also joins the mess Floyd makes with the huge cotton candy. He thinks it's the best idea ever too XD

Szi: Class A (With Adeuce, Yuu, Grim, Kalim, Silver, Rook and Leona). He acted all high and mighty as usual and they put him to do test churros. He did them terribly (he's bad at cooking of any kind). So they ended putting him to serve costumers, and he has 0 people skills so they took him out of that. In the end he ended up in charge of dealing with the cash since he never made a mistake in the change he had to give back. He was quite sad that Rook was mostly out of the stand because he was busy with the comitee. Either way, when he was around, he mostly stuck with him because he's his only friend from all the class A people.

Domas: Class C (With Azul, Jamil, and Vil). All his ideas got rejected and he was all grumpy and didn't want to cooperate. They didn't even let him help Jamil come up with the recipe, when he offered himself several times :C Still, when Azul or Jamil were distracted, he would go ahead and "direct" everyone else since he took that responsability. Thankfully they were making salads, so no arson incident happened(?) xD

Dalia: Class E (With Jade, Riddle, Trey and Lilia). She was happy to be able to do this with Riddle and Trey, two of her best friends. She helped them here and there. She wasn't good with cooking, but she helped as assistant or serving the food if needed. She also finds Lilia hilarious and knows him a bit from spending time with Silver. She only observed and laughed like Jade when Lilia was being a menace. It really is comedy gold in her eyes (but she never tried the food). By the end, she told Trey he has to make that chowder for her often because she really likes seafood and it was extra yummy~

Oriol: Class B (With Epel, Jack, Ruggie, Cater and Idia). He quickly offered to help Idia make the waffle machine. He really likes Ignihyde and wanted to get closer to Idia to learn and talk about machines so this was perfect. He tried to refuse his help but Oriol insited and just inserted himself in the project. Idia still did most of it, but they became somewhat(?) closer after that (Oriol's opinion). During the actual festival, he could've manned the waffle machine too, since he helped build it, but he refused. It was too hot, he couldn't be all sweaty all day! He had to look pretty for the festival!! Instead, he mostly floated around the stand and tried to catch people's attention and do promo. He managed to bring quite a lot of costumers.

Yuuki: Just date day with Jack(?) xD
