Hi, Mr. umm, Mr. Captain! 👋🏻 My name is Ken, and a very kind Anon asked me to deliver this Christmas present to you!

And I’m supposed to tell you that you’re a really good and kind guy and you give so much of yourself which is like really good of you. But like it’s also okay to rest and have some chill time and give something to yourself every once in a while.

I personally recommend surfing. Shredding waves is more dangerous than people realize, but you look like you could totally handle it.

‘Fuck no.’ The last sound he expected to cut through the stillness was the familiar inflection of that patriotic busybody, the tone of his voice grating on his nerves like sandpaper against skin. He had been keeping a low profile, biding his time in the shadows and meticulously plotting the dismantling of the remaining HYDRA bases scattered across the globe. ( They had stolen everything from him—his freedom, his past, his very identity—and he intended to ensure they paid dearly for their transgressions. ) This meant maintaining a facade of normalcy, keeping his head down, and blending into the obscurity he had grown accustomed to. Until now, his efforts had been successful, but as he turned, a look of distaste etched on his features, he couldn’t help but wonder how Rogers had managed to track him down.

He assessed the man with barely concealed revulsion. In this moment, he felt no resentment toward him for the death of Rumlow; the tragedy of that day was overshadowed by the destruction that had followed. ( The collapse of the building was nothing compared to the ruin that HYDRA had wrought upon his life and the lives of countless others. ) It always circled back to HYDRA, a relentless, festering wound from which he could never seem to escape. ‘I’ve been busy, Rogers. Why? Ya miss me?’

"The very best." His voice was quiet, his throat tight with how obvious it was that Steve--Winter--needed the praise. He could only imagine the things HYDRA had done to him. "Yeah. You're doing so well, pal. I'm proud of you." He leaned to turn the burners on medium so things could cook.

"You have no idea how happy," he said quietly. He moved to the kitchen, pulling out ingredients for spaghetti. "You don't have to earn food here. Help yourself to anything. But if makes you feel better to earn it, you can help with the cooking."
