Joey B Imagines: A Day In The Life
Tumblr media
————————————————————————-
Summary: You do a mini TikTok vlog of a day in the life with your boys while pregnant. (Pregnancy announcement to the public!)
Warnings: Fluff
Pairing: Joe Burrow x reader
Imagine Universe: Into The Mystic
————————————————————————-
January 10, 2024
After posting some more pranks I've done on Joe, surprisingly, my following on TikTok has grown significantly.
Usually, posting Joe on my socials garnered negative attention, AKA hate. I did it because social media apps were meant to share your life, and Joe was a huge part of my life.
I never meant it in a braggadocios way, but that's what people seemed to take from my family photos and post-win pics with my husband.
That's why I was so surprised to see that everyone loved my Joe pranks.
The comments held a consensus that I’d never seen under a post of mine, they loved Joe and I’s dynamic.
I didn't need the public fan validation to make me feel secure in my relationship with Joe, but for once, they understood how special our relationship was, and some even apologized for past statements.
“They love us, Joe.” - you
“No, honey, they love you.” - Joe smiled
After those words were shared, Joe pointed out how all the comments were mostly praising me.
“take back everything I said abt her.”
“stop she matches joe’s energy so well…”
“the way he can’t stay mad at her, they’re so in love”
“actually such a cute couple”
“they compliment each other so well!”
“i see why joe married her! 🥹”
“i want y/n to be MY mom.”
“who gave y/n the right to be so adorable.”
“she’s so fun!”
“the way joe looks at her.. 😭”
“still jealous, but he loves her sm.”
“MY PARENTS.”
“i bet y/n’s the best mom and wife”
“Everyone’s switching sides now, but they never deserved hate. Joe wouldn't marry her if he didn't love her, and I'm glad that you guys can see that now. She makes him really happy!!”
“See? Some are even requesting more videos, baby. Do you see how many new followers you've gotten?” - Joe
“It's just because I posted content of you…” - you
“No, don't say that. It's because you showed your personality, and they love you. They see why I love you.” - Joe
“Do you really think so?” - you
“I know so. Everyone thinks your pranks are hilarious, you're funny, and you handle me super well.” - Joe
“I do handle you super well.” - you laughed
“The best.” - Joe winked
——
That was two days ago, right after we put the twins to sleep and right before we went to bed ourselves.
Currently being nine in the morning, I just woke up.
It was off-season now, but that still meant early mornings.
This morning was a little different, though, because I was making a ‘day in the life’ TikTok.
Since my pranks had become a hit, I've gotten quite a few video ideas from fans in the comments. Most wanted to see more of our everyday lives and wanted to know what it was like as an NFL wife and mother.
So, I decided to do a short video to show what our family day routine was like on an average off-season day.
The thing is… Joe didn't know it was happening.
Joe loved that I was finally being seen the way he saw me but was still weary of what I was posting.
He wasn't a huge fan of social media, and being super public with our relationship and kids, he detested it.
I respected it, but sometimes Joe would ask to participate in a video unprompted.
Lately, that has become a bigger case, so I was hoping he wouldn't mind taking part in the mini-vlog.
Joe was still asleep when I got out of bed, so I discreetly walked into the bathroom after grabbing my phone.
I wouldn't be talking in the video, just showcasing the sounds of the background and whatever I was doing, while the text that I would put over it later would describe what was going on.
After making little clips of me brushing my teeth, washing my face, and brushing my hair out, I walked back into the bedroom.
Next, I recorded a little snippet of me picking out my outfit - leggings and one of Joe’s hoodies - before turning my phone off to get changed.
Now that I was ready, I headed downstairs to start breakfast.
I pulled ingredients out of the fridge for Joe’s smoothie, omelets for me and me, and some of the ingredients for the boy's pancakes.
Just as I was starting the blender, a sleepy-looking Joe with raging bedhead shuffled into the kitchen.
“G’morning.” - you grinned
Thankfully, he put on sweatpants and a T-shirt, and I was glad of that because he'd complain about being shirtless on camera.
“Hi.” - Joe mumbled
“You good, buddy?” - you laughed
“Mhm. I just don't like waking up to see that you're not next to me.” - Joe
“Awe, I'm sorry. C’mere.” - you
I opened my arms to Joe, and he immediately was in my embrace. My arms were around his waist as I squeezed him, and his head lay on my shoulder.
When he pulled away from me, Joe’s eyes landed on the recording camera and immediately went wide-eyed.
“Why are you recording?” - Joe
“I'm making a ‘day in the life' video. I won't put anything in it that you aren't comfortable with, like what just happened.” - you
“Oh… ok. Yeah, don't put that in, though, because I sound like a baby.” - Joe
His grimace made me laugh because I thought our interaction was cute. Then again, I loved Joe’s needy, soft side. It was purely adorable.
“My baby.” - you grinned
“Stop…” - Joe
Joe was trying to hide his smile as his cheeks turned pink, and I couldn't help but giggle. I loved knowing I could make him blush, even after all the years we've been together.
“Do you need help recording anything?” - Joe
“Not at the moment, but if I do, I'll ask you.” - you
“Okay. Want me to make the pancakes?” - Joe
“Sure! Can I get a clip of you flipping them?” - you
“Of course.” - Joe smiled
Shortly after that, Joe got started on the pancakes, and I recorded a little video to get audio of the sizzling from the hot pan.
When I got a short clip of Joe flipping a mini pancake, I didn't put his face in it, but you could very clearly see it was him. His easily recognized bracelets and hands gave that away, along with the laugh the speaker picked up when he executed the flip perfectly.
“I should be a pro cook.” - Joe
“We both know that shouldn't happen.” - you
Joe busted out laughing and told me to put that in the mini-vlog.
“Will do.” - you giggled
——
Later in the day, I had gotten most of the wanted content filmed, including waking the boys up, breakfast, and playing/cleaning around the house.
Now, Joe, Me, and the boys were on our way to the reason for the entire video.
AKA the ultrasound that I'm having today.
It was a hard launch of my pregnancy, but Joe and I thought we'd include it in the video since my maternity photoshoot wasn't for a couple more weeks. The reason we were announcing it before the shoot was because it was getting hard to hide my growing bump. We’d much rather announce it ourselves than someone screenshot a picture of me in the background with a round belly.
When we got sent back to the ultrasound room, Joe sat in the chair next to where I was. Tyson was in Joe’s lap while Miles sat in the chair next to them.
“You ready to see sissy?” - Joe
Tyson and Miles both nodded, causing Joe and I to both smile.
Soon the ultrasound tech walked into the room and before I knew it, the familiar feeling of cold gel on my stomach made me hiss.
“Okay, Mama?” - Joe
“Gel’s just cold. I'm fine.” - you smiled
Joe made sure to get a good video of you watching the monitor, and he felt tears pricking in his eyes at the sight of his baby girl.
He would never get tired of being called, girl dad, Joe wore it like a proud Boy Scout who had just received a new badge.
“Baby Girl is doing great, measuring how she should be, and is very healthy.” - Tech
“Good.” - you and Joe in sync
After a few more minutes, she wiped off my bump, and I was set to go.
Joe helped me off of the chair and pulled the hoodie back over my stomach.
“I love you.” - Joe grinned
“I love you too.” - you
——
I spent the first thirty minutes back home editing together the clips I already had, getting approval from Joe for each one.
It surprised me how much feedback and “Oh, this would be cool!” Joe was giving me. He liked this more than I thought he would.
We ate dinner just shortly after that, and the rest of the afternoon was slow, as it usually was.
Tyson and Miles went to bed earlier than usual, so Joe and I spent the majority of the evening watching space documentaries that Joe had been wanting to watch.
The last video of the day routine vlog was of the TV in front of us, Joe’s hand on my bump in view, as well as our legs tangled together.
I never truly appreciated the little things in my everyday life till they were pointed out in a video, like how Tyson always looks at Joe for approval before doing something or how Miles's eyes crinkle up when he smiles, just like his daddy’s.
Watching back at the completed TikTok while tucked into my handsome husband’s side as he rubbed over my baby bump and drew little shapes on it with his thumb had me thinking something I seem to always find my mind drifting off to. Oh, boy, was I one lucky girl.

Happy Never After | T Meier
Tumblr media
summary: not everything has a happy ending
this is a re-write
-
"I don't understand you sometimes!"
"What's not to understand Timo?! I drop everything for you all the time and you just don't care-"
"I care!"
"No you don't! I dropped everything for you when you were traded to Jersey, I left my job and sold my apartment to follow you and I put up you you being absolutely miserable every single day because of it! I moved around the country now we’re in Jersey without my home and job!"
A weight lifted off your shoulders, finally speaking your heart. Timo shifted awkwardly infront of you.
"Glad you got that off your chest" he grumbled, angrily
"you're not the only one who sacrificed stuff you know?"
You laughed humourlessly "what could you have possibly had to give up?"
It was like he was searching for something to say "| missed out on like everything it was to be a rookie because I was tied down to, to you!"
Your eyes went wide and Timo bit his lip, regretting how he'd said it.
"You 'missed out'?" You put air quotes around your words and quirked your eyebrow
He gulped
"On what exactly? The drinking and partying? The hooking up every other night? Every Sunday I came over Kevin had a new girl in his bed! Is that what you want?"
"What? No-"
"That's what you said! You just said that!" You wave your hands around with no reason, just feeling frustrated.
"You know that's not what I meant!"
"That's what you said!" You screamed, as if raising your volume would get the point across better.
He ran a hand over his face and sighed "God would you stop being such a bitch-"
Nope.
The sound of your palm meeting the side of his face sounded through his apartment. He grabbed his cheek which was turning red now while you stumbled back, tears in your eyes and gasped.
"Don't you dare, don't you dare call me names!" He reached out for you, to console you but you pulled away "No, No don't! Don't touch me! God, I can't even look at you"
"Babe, please just listen I didn't - woah what are you doing?" He rushed, watching as you picked up your coat and bag.
"I'm leaving, I'm going home"
"Please don't leave! C'mon I'm about to leave on a two week long road trip let's not do this"
You looked at him, breaking his heart as he took in your red nose and tear stained cheeks while you sniffled
"I can't Timo"
When the door shut he stood in the silence wondering
what the fuck just happened?
When he woke up the next morning he had hoped you were there, you weren't. You hadn't answered any of his calls and texts.
The devils were about to leave for a two week road trip and he didn't want to leave this on a bad note but he had no time before the flight was due to leave.
Before take off you received a text
Timo 🤍
i love you and I'm so sorry. please just call me, I wanna hear your voice.
You read the text, like all the others but never replied.
Instead simply throwing your phone away to sit and sulk.
Day four of the trip and he still hadn't heard from you.
The first sign of life was when Jack's girlfriend posted a photo on her instagram stories of a bunch of denim jackets with the boys names and numbers on the back for the wags annual brunch.
He spotted his own name on a jacket, heart content to know you were there. However a couple of hours later he saw another story post of the same brunch and could see that same table with one jacket lay on it, the number twenty eight standing out to him clearly.
It had started taking a toll on his play around Vegas.
Nico spoke to him but was shut down quickly as Timo insisted there was nothing wrong and that he was sorry. Nico didn't care about his play, he was worried about his friend.
A week into the trip you visited Timo's apartment with a cardboard box in hand. Packing up everything you wanted to take with you. At some point you'd gotten so emotional you sat down on the couch to breath and turned the tv on.
It flickered to the last channel it was on, hockey. You watched the screen as it panned across the devils and the canucks. You watched as the screen showed Timo, holding his chain in hand and kissing the pendant that hung on it - your pendant.
"Oh T..." you sighed, biting your lip and turning the TV off.
When the road trip ended Timo couldn't wait to get home and see you, try to resolve this clear issue.
Opening the door, he immediately felt off. His eyes darted around the room trying to figure out what was different.
Your favourite blanket that hung over the couch was gone.
Your shoes weren't littering the floor next to the front door.
You weren't there.
Timo scrambled for his phone, calling you and texting you to be hit with the voicemail.
37 voicemails.
146 text messages.
27 instagram DM's.
6 twitter DM's.
1 email.
You never replied.
It wasn't until a few days later you called him when you knew he'd be at practice unable to see his phone so you could leave a message.
When he returned to the locker room and saw his missed call he cursed, rushing to listen to the voicemail.
"hey timo, I know it was shitty to ghost you like that but I feel like if I didn't do it this way I would make it worse for everyone. I feel like we need time apart, you made it clear that being in this relationship made you miss out on things so I want to give you the chance to explore that lifestyle! I'll always be your biggest fan, from San Jose to Jersey I've got you but I think I just gotta have you from afar for a little while"
Timo looked at his phone for a moment before he threw the phone onto the floor and stood on it repeatedly.
Completely unaware everyone was watching the scene he was causing.
It was Jonas’ hands on his shoulders that snapped him out of his bubble "C'mon man, let's go some-"
"She left me"
"Okay, come on buddy not here"
He looked up at his friend and let out a soft, shaky breath before he shoved his head on his shoulder and began to sob.
"You're alright, it's alright"
The pounding on your front door that night startled you, leaving your desk to answer the clearly urgent guest
The door wasn't even open enough to see you before you heard "What the fuck is going on?!"
"Hi Lauren, come in, lovely to see you" you joked, rolling your eyes as she barged into your apartment.
"Timo is on my couch right now crying, what is going on? More importantly are you ok?" She asked, eyes fluttering over you to check.
You smiled softly "I'm okay Laur, I'm sorry I didn't talk to you l just - my head has been fried"
Her eyes softened "hey listen, I'm here for you okay? I just don't understand what's going on? Jonas brought him home and we are both as clueless as each other"
"I broke up with him"
"You What? This is a joke right?"
"Laur, i feel bad enough please don't make me feel worse" you groaned.
She stood there looking at you "I don't get it, you're Timo and Y/N. You don't break up"
"Yeah well.." You trialled off.
You went into all the details. Explaining the cause of the fight and all the things he said to you amidst it all.
By the end you were both in tears and when Lauren hugged you, you felt relaxed for the first time in a long time
"We love You, so much! and we support you always-"
"But Jonas-"
"But Jonas nothing, you are our friend too and it'll take some getting used to but we support our friends"
When Lauren returned home that night she didn't speak to either of the boys. Clearly seeing how much Timo was hurting right now that being angry at him wasn't an option.
He returned home, to an empty house on day three.
He felt like he was becoming a burden in their home.
So he moved the pity party back to his place.
Life carried on as normal as it could, he played hockey, he practiced and he slept. He did everything he would usually without you. He tried not to think about you too much but it was hard living in the place he had never been without you.
The days and month kind of moulded into one.
Halloween passed, Christmas passed, New Years all without you.
Timo downloaded tinder and bumble. He let his friends set him up. Nothing was working. He hated this.
The next time he saw you was New Year's Day.
Lauren had asked for you to come along to the game with her as the Devils were playing the Flyers in the stadium series and her future in-laws would be present.
You'd been friends with Jonas since high school and his parents always enjoyed seeing you.
Jonas obviously hadn't passed on your news to his parents.
"We're super excited for the wedding! And you must be too sweetheart, oh you and Timo will be next huh?"
Your face went red and you stuttered until Lauren replied "actually, Nutchara. Timo and Y/N broke up in September"
She looked shocked "Oh no, sweetheart I'm so sorry ! didn't know!" Pulling you into a hug to console you.
The hug was showcased on the jumbotron, Timo watched from the bench, his heart in his throat.
After the game the Siegenthaler’s were gathered together with you chatting away and Timo overheard Nutchara speaking as he passed.
"Oh now you're single maybe we can finally set you up with Nico, he's a bit hopeless with romance"
You laughed, making a comment about "Poor Neeks" Timo about-turned bumping into his teammate behind him and poking a finger into his chest before grumbling "If Nico puts his hands near my girl, tell him he's a fucking dead man"
You did not go out with Nico. Jonas made sure his parents didn’t meddle.
January passed and the rest of the months ran quick.
You were helping Lauren out with wedding stuff, constantly flying back to Canada to visit the venue, speak to catering, order flowers. You name it.
The devils never made it to play offs.
You watched them the night they failed to qualify.
You wrote out a text to Timo
i'm sorry. you deserved that one.
You didn't send it.
The wedding planning soon started coming into play.
Bachelorette parties and Bachelor weekends commenced before the big day.
You spent the week before trying to fix everything to be perfect for their big day.
The Friday night was everyone flying into town. You couldn't be there to pick people up as your own flight out of Newark had been delayed but the team pulled through with Nico and Jack taking point as welcome committee.
Your new flight landed hours later, while everyone was supposed to be at dinner. You texted Jack to ensure someone could pick you up and he told you he had it it sorted.
You wanted to kill him when you exited the airport and you saw Timo waiting for you in the loading zone.
He was leaned up against his car, rushing forward for your bags when he saw you
"I thought Jack was picking me up"
"He ran out of fuel and I had a full tank so he sent me"
Your sighed "Well alright then"
The ride back to the hotel was quiet and awkward.
Nobody tried to make small talk.
When you arrived at dinner you swiftly knocked Jack's head and said "Never do that again"
Saturday was the rehearsal dinner and you weren't feeling so great.
You had put on the dress and headed across to the venue. You did your due diligence and welcomed in both Lauren and Jonas’ families.
Jonas was mingling with people but didn't miss how Timo’s stare hardened when Nico walked up to you and hugged you hello.
"Please don't murder him, this is my wedding after all"
Timo took a drink and grumbled "I make no promises but I'll at least hold off until after his speech" continuing to watch your interaction.
Jonas laughed and walked off with a "Thanks bud"
Timo kept an eye on you all night long, feeling something was off.
You didn't look right.
After everyone was sat for the meal and speeches had been done you wandered off to the bathroom and hadn't returned for quite a while.
A break in the meal service gave him the opportunity to slip away to find you.
He found the ladies bathroom, he knocked and said
"Y/N, you in there?"
"Yeah, I'm here. What's up?" You croaked. Timo frowned before saying "I'm coming in"
"Timo, no-" it was too late, he'd already made his way into the bathroom to find you on the floor hunched over the toilet.
He walked over, pulling his suit jacket off and draped it over your shoulder and then pulling your hair back into a makeshift ponytail to the best of his ability.
"You don't have to-" "Just hush, I'm here"
You were silent but grateful, continuing to spew for the next twenty minutes.
"I think I just ate bad chicken on the plane" you mumbled, defeated and laying against the tile wall.
"Let's get you to bed" he decided, pulling you up from the wall. Your body, weakened, fell into him and you groaned
"But the dinner " "can be done without you come on"
He slipped the two of you out the back door and called a cab back to the hotel. For a moment you forgot your situation, opting to think this was all normal.
When Timo took you up to your room and helped you get ready for bed, all normal.
You knew you shouldn't have but when Timo tried to leave you cried out "Please stay, I can't be alone like this"
It didn't take an awful lot of convincing, Timo knew you and he knew you were right. You never really got sick but when you did you always needed help.
He stayed.
He stayed all night while you slept, his fingers tangled in your hair scratching lightly at your scalp to soothe you.
At five that next morning he left you in order to return to his room and get ready for the wedding.
When you woke up, slightly confused you found a note on the pillow next to you.
morning, I had to go get the boys up. hope you're feeling better, I'm sure you'll look beautiful today. advil and water on the nightstand < 3
You smiled lightly, looking over to see a plastic water bottle and the aforementioned pills waiting for you.
You picked up your phone from the other side, a few texts from people checking you were ok was all along with a message in the bridesmaid group chat about getting ready together.
"She's alive!" Was yelled when you entered the room.
You smiled "Yes, yes I'm here I had food poisoning"
"Timo took care of you though, that was sweet" one of the other bridesmaids said, curling her hair and looking at you in the mirror.
You nodded, picking up a champagne glass from the table "Yeah, he left to go get Jonas up this morning-"
"Wait, wait, wait!" Lauren yelled "He stayed over?!" Yeah nodded sheepishly "Uh yeah, I guess I asked him too when I was tired I think I was just used to him helping me out when I'm sick"
Lauren gave you a look but you didn't press it further, after all it was her wedding day.
The ceremony didn't last long, Lauren had always said she didn't want people being bored and just wanted to party.
You'd found your space at the head table, right next to Nico and you couldn't help but think Jonas’ mom had something to do with the table plans.
You were talking after dinner with Nico about everything going on in his life when you felt a pair of hands on your shoulders.
You turned to see Timo smiling down at you "Hey Neeks, mind if I steal her for a bit?"
Nico smiled "Nah man, she's all yours. I'll see you in a bit y/n"
You smiled back before pushing the chair out and grabbing Timo’s hand to be directed onto the dance floor.
You didn't speak for the first few minutes, just basking in each other's company until you said "Hey thanks for last night you didn't have to do that"
"I couldn't leave you to fend for yourself"
"I'm not your problem anymore T"
"Not by my choice" he noted and you huffed "Timo-
"No, please just hear me out because l've been waiting for the right time to speak to you and I mean what are weddings for if not love, eh? Whatever that stupid fight we had was about was not worth loosing you over. I hate myself for that and the things I said because I love you so freaking much and I was so stupid for allowing myself to loose you. When you left me I was broken"
You sighed, looking up at him for any sign of a lie.
There was none "Timo... I miss you too but you know it's not that easy to just get back together"
"I know, I just needed you to know how I felt" he nodded.
"Well Thank you, i appreciate it. Maybe we can talk again whenever we're back home in jersey?"
"I like the sound of that"
You nodded, Timo twirling you out in the dance and when he pulled you back in he said "You do look beautiful tonight I guess I predicted that right"
Back in Jersey come the fall it had been a while since that night at the Siegenthaler wedding.
The devils home opener was packed with fans.
You were sat with a beer in hand, looking out on the ice at the red jersey's looking at all the new names around.
Your thoughts were broken when you felt something drape over your shoulders, turning you saw Lauren alongside other girlfriends and wives all smiling at you.
"Hey!"
"Hey sweetheart we didn't think we'd see you here, we saw you from the box" Lauren points up to the 'wags' box.
You blush "Yeah, i uh haven't been up there in a while"
"Well we thought you might want this back, a little birdy told me you might need it" you pulled the jacket draped over your shoulders off and looked at it.
The black denim jacket displayed the number twenty eight alongside Meier so nicely.
You smiled "That little birdy would be correct" you answered and the girls all cheered.
"Ugh, finally they're back together! We're so happy for you"
"Thank you guys honestly, it's been a massive journey but we're here now!"
Come the end of the night the boys were on a winning high and Timo didn't think it could get better than this.
That was until he came out of the locker room to find you with your back turned to him he saw the name and number on your jacket.
He groaned "Oh god I forgot what a beautiful sight this was" slipping behind you, arms travelling around your front to land on your abdomen and kissing the side of your head.
You leaned into him "You like it?"
"Like it? I love It" he announced, leaning in closer to your ear to whisper "I'd like it better on our floor”
You straightened up "Oh we've gotta go guys! We've got stuff to do. See you all next week!"
You were halfway out the door when someone shouted
"they really never changed!"

[ Pairing ] - Harry Styles x Reader!
[ Genre ] - fluff, smut future angst
[ Word Count ] - 2.5k
[ Part one ]
[ Masterlist ]
As much as it may seem, neither of you truly belonged to anyone. You hadn’t had a boyfriend in a long while and Harry was known to have a few flings here and there. You just hoped that this thing between the two of you was more than that. In truth both of you were scared to take that step but Harry seemed do unserious about it. You decided that after the amazing gesture he made last night for your birthday meant that you should give this a real try. Really put your heart out there.
You were spent the next morning when you woke up. Legs sore and heart happy, as well as other parts of you thanks to Harry and his many talents. Your impromptu late birthday celebration lasted well into the early hours of the morning. Cups filled with vodka and mixers swirled up in the passing time. Body parts tangled up with sheets and fabrics and here you were in Harry’s bed just waking up for the day. Peaking one eye open you saw the piled-up duvet and blankets on the opposite side of the bed. You reached your hand out and felt the material with your warm hand and found it to be cool to the touch. A small coy smile played on your lips. The sound of the elevator door opening meant Harry was just arriving back at his flat after leaving for a well-deserved run.
Taking a deep breath, you stretched in the bed. Bones cracking and lengthening all together.
“Ahh there’s the Birthday princess, sleeping beauty herself.” Harry spoke softly as he entered the bedroom. The large bed was being drenched with sun and you looked beautiful. Harry smiled to himself as he sat on the edge of the bed you were laying in. you pushed the duvet down to greet Harry with a proper good morning. Your top half was bare, smooth skin left to ruminate in the bright morning sun. nipples soft and peeking out of the sheet falling from your body.
The two of you shared a sweet good morning and decided it was time to replenish from the night’s activities. The kitchen of the penthouse was exactly as you would expect, eclectic but still modern and earthy, just like the man stood across from you making you eggs. The pan sizzled as he added ingredients, and you sat on the counter next to him. Your legs dangled above the floor and your hands were busy holding your phone.
Social media was no stranger to you. The world of the rich and famous knew you well and you had many friends in the industry. Harrys fans have known you to be spotted with him a few times in the past, but the photos were few and far in between. Like the one a fan account just posted of you and your close friend in your hotel room just a day ago before Harry’s show last night.

Harryfan_1 aww so cute!
Harryfan113 wait…do they know each other?
y/nharryshipper @harry fan113 yesss they’ve been friends for quite some time now. Hopefully more in the future.
You laughed a bit as you tapped the screen to leave a like on the picture. A few seconds later and your phone buzzed for a while as people mentioned you more in the comments. Most comments were nice but of course some people didn’t have nice thoughts about you hanging around “their man”. It made you laugh a bit harder, catching the attention of harry as he finished up placing eggs on a couple plates for the two of you.
“Who is it I have to thank for blessing me with that cute laugh of yours? hmm?” harry moved to stand between your legs and nudge his nose against yours as you giggled again.
“Your fans found me again.”
“Being nice I hope.”
“As nice as fangirls can be I guess.” You looked down at the food and your stomach growled. Harry helped you down from the countertop and sat down with you at the table to eat.
“You don’t have to worry darling I’ll be nice to you.”
The day was simple. After finishing breakfast, you lounged around the penthouse until Harry had to leave for soundcheck. Around 2 you left his penthouse. Your heels were forgotten next to his bed, and you wore a pair of his slippers to drive back to your hotel. You also stole a hoodie but what he didn’t know wouldn’t hut him. You had planned to get ready for the night with some friends of yours. Asara and Penn. Asara has been your friend since diapers the two of you are thick as thieves and don’t do anything without telling the other. Your other friend was Penn, short for Penelope.
The fangirls in your phone were still talking about how you intervened in their relationship with the star. You looked at some of their posts and liked a few tweets. You even shared a selfie to your Instagram story of the buildings moving in the window. Arriving back at the hotel you received a text message from Melissa, well Lizzo as her fans knew her. You met Lizzo about a year and a half ago through Harry and were fast friends. Often times the three of you will meet for dinner. You had seen each other in passing but it was at an award show you did some interviews for where you were introduced to her. The conversation the two of you carried on was short but you learned she would be in your section along with your friends.
Excitement buzzed in your chest as you and your friends threw clothing around the room trying to find outfits for the show. Make up hair supplies and shoes littered the room. Your friend Asara helped you sift through your luggage and soon enough you were in the shower getting ready to doll yourself up for the show. Penn arrived a bit later with more goodies in the form alcohol.
“She wants to ditch us for her man and then spend hours in the shower Asara. It a shame.” Penn joked as she walked past the bathroom.
“Ha-ha. I’m just taking your advice Penn. Weren’t you the one who said I should come on this trip?” you yelled out from the fog that covered the air in the shower. It actually was Penn’s Idea for you to come out here. You probably would have said yes to Harry either way, but Penn made it seem like a life or death situation. Both girls knew about your feelings for the man. How you wanted nothing more than to pleas your deep personal desires and live with him for the rest of your life like a princess. It wasn’t that simple though and you knew that. Harry was complicated but so were you. His list of exes was nothing compared to yours and you guessed that sometimes you could blame that on age.
The girls on the other side of the wall laughed loudly and it made you smile. Spending time with them like this was your favorite past time. Besides spending time with harry of course. Pretty soon you were out of the shower. A speaker sat on the nightstand near your bed was blaring Asara’s playlist. Lil Wayne, 21 Savage and The Weekend serenaded you as you all dressed. The three of you looked hot. Your outfit was red from head to toe. You wanted Harry to spot you from the stage as you wouldn’t be in the pit tonight.  Asara was wearing an over sided shirt as a dress with black thigh highs. Penn had on a denim miniskirt and matching top with black heals. By the time, all three of you were ready it was time to head out to the venue.
“Okay ladies we need some shots before we go.” Asara was the first to crab the bottle of Casamigos from Penn’s bag. Penn lined up three shot glasses she brought, and you readied your camera. Once the song changed you started recording and the three of you did a cheer and downed the liquid.
“Fuck!” you groaned at the burning sensation and smiled at the warm feeling in your chest. Looking down at your phone you texted the video to Harry. The file sent with a swoosh and almost immediately a chime came back.
“I’m jealous.”
“Lmao you’re going to have some catching up to do after the show tn.”
“Wahh you say that like I’M the light weight. We both know that’s not true.”
“Well then, we’ll settle this later at the bar!”
You giggled at the messages rolled in. swiping out of the conversation you posted a quick photo of the three of you pre showtime fits.

y/nharryshipper wtf she’s so hot!!
Harry_fan33 Harry really has some good taste I see why y’all like her frr!
Harryisbae_ hmmm little sus that she gone to two shows in a row…did she even pay for tickets???? Its givingggg desperate for attention.
The rest of the night was a bit of a blur. The show was amazing you and your friends met up with Lizzo and Sza in your section of the crowd. You all chanted along with the music and even caught Harry’s attention. Madison Square Garden was hue and you felt so proud of him for accomplishing this goal. After the music ceased and he did his first round of talking with the fans he got a question about you from a girl in the crowd.
“what’s your name sweetheart?”
“Emma!”
“Emma, what were you asking just a minute ago?”
“Can we say happy birthday to Y/n?” the girl’s question was met with roaring cheers. Fans screamed as they turned to find you. You giggled and hid behind your friends trying to avoid the attention.
“Absolutely, because I know it will embarrass her. For those of you who don’t know, Y/n is an important friend of mine and it was her birthday a few days ago. So, on a count of 3 we all will scream a big happy birthday.”
“1…2…3! Happy birthday!”
You smiled so hard your cheeks hurt. You couldn’t believe this man. Forcing his fan to wish you a happy birthday. But you had to admit it was a happy birthday. The only thing that would make it better was if you could thank him personally. The grin never left your face the whole rest of the show. Secret waves and words were exchanged between the two of you.
On your left Asara was singing along. Her body catching the beat to Cinema.
“Something in the way you move.”
And you sang back even louder as you turned to dance on her.
“I like it when you dance for me.” Asara placed her hands on your hips and swayed along to the beat with you. Little did you know harry saw the whole thing. Seeing the two of you like that reminded him of when he used to joke about the two of you being lovers. It was innocent he never went too far but the two of you have done everything but be intimate with each other. The sate lights were already hot, and he wasn’t doing himself any favors by watching you grind against your friends. Taking another lap around the stage he was able to conceal his much-needed adjustment of his pants.
Thankfully for the both of you, you got your wish to thank him in person soon enough. Your entourage was being escorted to a car service ready to take you to a club for an after party. Ny was probable the best place you could think to party. The DJ’s are better than Miami and the people were hotter too. You and your friends arrived at the door before Harry made it. The three of you walked to the door along with Lizzo and she helped you get in. she didn’t stay for long but you do remember after several shots she appeared with Harry at her side. Leaving with a quick goodbye you were left standing in front of a gorgeous man who had no drink in his hand.
“We need to fix that immediately.” You said and pulled him towards your table. The bottle service came fast and left even faster. The music seemed to get louder as ore people joined you. Hid band made an appearance and a few other celebrities you couldn’t remember. Heat was on the rise as harry lead you out to the dance floor. You didn’t remember what song was playing all you knew was that a pair of hands were on your hips. The rings on his fingers gleamed in the sparce lighting.
“Angel, I saw what you did to Asara at my show. Do I get a taste too?” harry whispered in your ear. After 3 rounds of shots and nursing a vodka on the rocks his voice went right between your legs. The bass was beating in time with your heart as you pushed your ass into his hips.
"Tell me, were you always this pretty?" harry asked you as you turned to face him again. You looked perfect. Your corset top pushed your breasts up just so wonderfully and Harry thought he could dive into your cleavage. Your neck was laced with jewelry and all he thought about was how his rings would look next to the silver.
“You think you’re hot shit, don’t you?” you challenged him with those words but your eyes remined playful. “Complementing a girl with that stupid James bond voice.” You poked fun at him but secretly you enjoyed it. How he showered you with his thoughts and even when he did that dumb impression.
“Oh, hush I do it cause I know you like it.” He pulled you closer as he laughed. And he caught your eyes as he held you chest to chest. Harry almost whimpers at the thought of you. How soft your lips would feel on his. How warm your skin is. His mouth almost drooling at the image of your legs in a vice grip around one of his hands. Your body trembling from how hard you’ve came. His fingers wet from touching you. Leaning forward he dips you slightly and locks you into a deep kiss.
As the night progressed after the kiss things did get a bit wild. The alcohol was flowing and little blank pills started floating around and the appeal of white lines crossed both your minds briefly.

Super Bowl
Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Warnings: fluff, gender neutral
Words: 1K
Summary: Natasha stays up to watch the Super Bowl with you.
AN: This one is for all the (american) football lovers! Super Bowl is today and I just had to write this little one-shot. Part 4 of the Silent Series will be posted in a couple of days since I'm still figuring out a good way to end it, sorry for the long wait.
Tumblr media
Natasha and you were visiting her parents in Russia. It was the first time you'd meet Alexei and Melina in person. Of course they met you over facetime already but wished for a personal get-together. You both decided to keep the relationship low but then got caught by Yelena and somehow the word got to their parents and voila Russia here we were. Nervousness and excitement was consuming you both on the flight to St. Petersburg but you two always assured each other that this will be good and fun.
And it turned out to be one of the best days of your lifes, her parents welcomed you with opened arms, even threatened Nat if she hurts you, they'll hurt her! That was how much they already loved you. As soon as you were there they told you tons of stories about little Natasha and small Yelena, while the embarrassing ones were awful to hear for Nat she still let her parents tell you them. After you all ate and got to see childhood and teenage hood photos, you and Nat decided to go back to the cabin Alexei and Melina build near their house. It was a tiny private place meant for the Romanoff-Belova siblings when they came to visit. And everybody was glad about that since privacy with your significant other was better than being under the same roof with the parents and hearing noises that were traumatizing.
"Babe?" You called out from your bedroom while going through your suitcase. Natasha popped out her head from the bathroom before revealing herself completely. "You called me, detka?"
When you looked up to face her, your breath got caught in your throat, your girlfriend just looked so stunning with wet hair and wearing a tank top. "I swear you're always doing this on purpose."
She lifted her right eyebrow and crossed her arms underneath her breasts, which made her even more irresistible. "I'm not sure what you're talking about."
She knew that you knew that she knew what you were talking about and this was all teasing and payback for your endless teasing on the flight. "Anyways," you shook your head to get ahold of yourself. "Have you seen my jersey?"
"You really weren't kidding when you said you'll watch the Super Bowl from Russia even at 2:30 in the morning." You blushed and looked down. Even though you weren't american you still loved the sport and never missed a single Super Bowl and its iconic halftime shows. "It's in my suitcase, you specifically told me to pack it since yours would too much of a mess."
"And I was right about that! Thanks honey." You went towards her suitcase and got your jersey, quickly throwing it on before you went to Nat and gave her a long kiss. "I love you so much but now I gotta go and make some mac & cheese."
"You and Yelena are the fucking same!" She told you right before you left and then quickly adding that she loved you too.
Later when the game started Natasha yawned like nothing else and you told her to go to bed and sleep since it was already 2:30am but she was too stubborn so she suffered through the game. It was two very intense first quarters before the halftime show finally happened. Somehow seeing Rihanna perform woke Natasha up and then sang along with the songs. Nat being Nat, she was also a very talented singer. You envied her from time to time since you barely had any talent and always wished for being a music genius. Her talents were one of the main reasons why the woman fascinated you so much and constantly supported her.
"Thanks for staying and watching the Super Bowl with me." The smile she gave you was enough to make you feel like it was the first day of falling in love with her again. "I know you don't like american football much so I appreciate it even more."
"This is so much better than watching Disney movies with Yelena." You saw Natasha's thinking expression, probably reliving a moment in her head, of her and her sister watching a Disney movie she disliked. "Disney movies are great." She furrowed her eyebrows at your words. "Yeah.. but not if you have to watch princess movies so that Yelena can make fun of them. At first it was fun since she was right with princess movies being boring but now it just gets a bit annoying."
"I definitely have to show you my favorites, they aren't boring since there won't be any princesses in it." She put her lips on yours for a short kiss, leaving you hanging for more. You leaned in, chasing her lips for a more passionate kiss that she happily gave back. "How come you haven't shown me your favorites yet?"
"Because I'm waiting for a special time." Honestly you didn’t know why you hadn’t shown her yet but this reason came close. "You do realize that there's never a right time?"
You took a deep breath, "I know but I still try anyways…"
"How about later we watch one of your favorites?" You shook your head immediately, you didn’t want her to watch yet another thing just for you. "But babe, then you’d watch the Super Bowl and a Disney movie in a day just for me! What about things you wanna watch?"
Her entire facial expression turned into pouting. "I really want to see your favorites Y/N. This is quality time for me and I don't get it that often with being an Avenger… And even though I don’t like football I still enjoy it because I'm with you. And it's all that matters."
How could you say no to her looking like that? Telling you all the words you love to hear, words that made your heart melt away and fall in love with her all over again. "Okay. Let's just continue this game with some popcorn and I'll tell you all about my favorite Disney movies later alright?"
She nodded and got up to get popcorn super quick. After coming back you two cuddled up for the rest of the game. You, of course, had to yell at the tv from time to time since some players were making awful mistakes that costed your team the win in the end. The loss didn't matter to you much though since you had the love of your life beside you and that was all you needed.

Paradise. (2/10)
Pairing: Javi Gutierrez x f!reader
Rating: E
Tags: Javi is baby, fluff, holiday romance, Nick Cage is Nick Cage, reader is bilingual
Warnings: swearing
Summary: Working as Nicholas Cage's personal assistant was your favourite job; so when he asked you to accompany him to Mallorca for this birthday party he'd been invited to, you were more than happy to go. What you didn't anticipate was the host himself.
Will also be posted on my AO3
(Part 1)
When you woke up the next morning, you were still buzzing from your interaction with Javi. It put a smile on your face and a spring in your step, it was such a small thing that possibly meant nothing but if it made you happy, you were going to enjoy it. You stretched out in the plush bed, checking your phone before getting up and getting ready for the day. You made your way out of your room and towards the dining room, half expecting to see Nick or at least Javi there. Instead it was just Gabriela finishing up her breakfast. She smiled warmly as you walked in.
"Good morning! How did you sleep?" You smiled back at her as you poured yourself some juice from the jug on the table.
"So amazingly! That bed is genuinely the most comfortable thing I've ever laid on." Gabriela laughed, wiping her hands on a napkin.
"Come, sit with me. I'll make you something to eat." You thanked her and sat down as Gabriela disappeared into the kitchen. You looked out of the huge window, admiring the garden beyond it with a content hum in your throat. Gabriela came back with a plate of food, handing it over before sitting back down.
"Is Nick up yet?" You asked, suddenly feeling like you should have gone to his room first. Gabriela nodded.
"He took a little encouraging but he is. Javi took him out to the cliffs. It's one of his favourite places, he goes there a lot to write or think." You smiled and nodded, glad Nick was getting out and spending time with Javi.
"Well if they're spending the day together, I think I'll explore the town and see what's out here." Gabriela smiled and agreed, giving you her phone number in case you needed anything as well as the details for Javi's usual driver that would be happy to drive you into the town. She named a few spots she personally loved and a few local areas that not many tourists would know of.
The town was as beautiful as you'd expected, a mixture of new and old architecture. You took a bunch of photos as you wandered around, bought a couple of things to take home for your parents and a bottle of wine to thank Gabriela for all of her recommendations - as well as a bottle for yourself since the shopkeeper said it was one of the best in Mallorca. You took a break in a little cafe, using their wifi to call your mother and tell her all about Mallorca and about both Javi and Gabriela, skipping out any details of Lucas as there was just something about him you really didn't like. She asked you to send photos so she could see what it was like and you promised to bring her here one day. You spent all day in the town, exploring everything it had to offer. The sun was beginning to set when the driver came back to pick you up, an older man who seemed happy to take a scenic route back to the villa and show the sights his home had to offer. You put all of your shopping in your room and grabbed the bottle of wine, planning on sitting in the garden and having a drink in the warm evening. As you pulled a glass from a cabinet, you were startled by Javi coming in the side door, damp from the pool and wrapped up in his dressing gown. He looked adorable.
"Hey Javi!" He looked over at you, almost like he'd forgotten you were here as his eyes went wide. "Hey… are you okay?" You asked softly, placing a hand on his shoulder as you studied his face.
"He finally has my screenplay. He's gone into town to sit in a bar and read it. I feel so nervous it's making me nauseous. I think I'm going to just… try to sleep." You tilted your head a little, watching the man for a moment.
"Or you could come and have a drink with me? Some company might help ease your mind, Javi." He looked at the bottle in your hand then up at your face, debating it for a moment.
"Yeah, that… that would be nice." He gave a small smile that made you want to bundle him up in your arms and give him the biggest cuddle. He took a breath before turning to lead you out to the garden, leading you through to one of his favourite spots amongst the trees that overlooked the ocean on the left and the lit up town on the right. You sat on a bench beside him, pouring wine for you both. Javi was quiet for the most part, twisting his fingers together nervously until you put the wine glass into his hands.
"I'm sure it was great, Javi. Don't worry so much!" You nodded your head, squeezing his hand gently. Javi just nodded as well, returning the squeeze before taking a swallow of wine. He glanced at the glass then at you.
"This is my favourite wine." You tilted your head and smiled at him.
"Really? I picked it up in town today, the shopkeeper made a great show of telling me how it was locally sourced and made and how it was his best seller." Javi finally laughed, nodding.
"I know which shop you mean. I've paid him to supply wine and champagne for my party." You chuckled a little, taking a testing sip of it before humming.
"It is really good Javi. You clearly have good taste." You teased lightly, nudging him as he smiled almost shyly. "So how was your day?" Javi tilted his head as he thought about it.
"I took Mr Cage to the cliffs, I tried to talk him out of quitting acting and tried to act out some of my screenplay to get his inspiration going. It was silly." You chuckled, watching him.
"Did it work?" Javi shrugged a shoulder.
"I think so? We ended up jumping off the cliff, that was such an adrenaline rush! We sat on the beach, had a smoke and just talked for a while. He made me tell him my top three favourite movies, he refused to believe my number one so I made him watch with me." You held up a hand, leaning in closer to study his face.
"Go on. What is your number one favourite movie?" Javi studied your face for a moment, taking a breath before answering.
"Paddington Two." He said matter-of-factly, watching for your reaction. You blinked, that was definitely not the answer you expected and yet it suited him.
"Adorable. It is an incredible movie." Javi seemed almost relieved that you agreed with him, a genuine smile breaking out over his face.
"Right?!" He laughed, finally relaxing a little more. "He finally agreed with me after watching it though. We went for a swim, had a few drinks and he talked me into sending him my screenplay right there. He wanted me to go with him while he read it but… I couldn't. My heart is racing just thinking about it." Javi rest his free hand against his chest, you smiled at him and took a sip of wine.
"Don't worry Javi. Remember? Believe in your work! I have no doubts it's great!" Javi nodded a little, you could see he was disappearing into his worried thoughts again. You placed a hand gently over one of his, giving him a smile. "So your party… are you excited?" Javi watched your hands for a moment then looked up at your face.
"Usually no, birthdays come every year but having Mr Cage here made it exciting. And you as well of course." He smiled, you had to fight every fibre of your being to not grin like a fool at the addition of you.
"I'm sure it'll be a great night! I'm looking forward to it. I usually don't do much for my birthday so I'm excited for a big party!" Javi laughed a little, finally distracted as he spoke about the band he'd booked, the food Gabriela had organised and everything. He had an excited twinkle in his eyes as he spoke, pausing to sip his wine now and then. You couldn't help but watch and admire him, Javi was so easy to be around. Such a warm person, he seemed genuine and the way his smile lit up his whole face was just beautiful. You found you could listen to him talk for hours, regardless of the topic. Yeah, you definitely had a crush on your host. And it was only the second day of being there.
The two of you sat talking for a while, only realising how long it had been when the wine bottle was empty.
"I'll buy you a new bottle, promise." Javi laughed, placing his empty glass by his feet as he relaxed into his seat. You waved one hand slightly.
"It's fine Javi, it's better to have good company with good wine. I doubt I'd enjoy it as much sat alone in my apartment." You smiled, finishing your drink as well.
"We should probably sleep soon though, I don't want to be here with Mr Cage comes back. I won't be able to look him in the eye." You shook your head and stood up, reaching for the empty glasses and bottle but Javi grabbed it all first. You followed him into the kitchen and got some water to take to bed with you, Javi walking with you to your room again.
"Thank you, again. For distracting me and keeping me company so I didn't just pace my room worried." You shook your head and smiled up at Javi.
"Any time. I quite enjoy our evening chats Javi." He beamed at you and surprised you by wrapping you up in a tight hug. You practically melted into him, the softness of his dressing gown and how good he smelt. You hugged him close, unable to fight the smile that broke out over your face. The two of you stood like that for a moment before he stepped back, taking one of your hands in his own like before.
"Sweet dreams." He said softly, kissing your knuckles before eventually pulling away to go to his own room. You bit your lip lightly, watching him go before slipping into your room. Waiting to make sure he wasn't there before having a moment of childish excitement. Usually you never were one for these fast crushes or romantic whimsy's but Javi was just something else entirely.

#12 and #14 for the kiss prompts? :)
12. Sneaking away to a hidden corner to share a secretive kiss + 14. A kiss so desperate that the two wind around each other, refusing to let go until they are finished.
(secret dating + celeb au)
Her phone had been exploding by the time she woke up. Her personal phone, which meant personal issues, which meant her stomach churned with nausea before she drank her morning coffee.
Her alarm clock indicated it was seven am. Ten am in New York, her brain calculated, and she itched to text Luke about his morning. But if she grabbed her phone, she'd have to be confronted with whatever was going on.
Taking a steadying breath, she pushed herself upright, wiping a curl from her cheek, and unlocked her phone.
Shit.
Tumblr media
Flynn sent her a link to a tabloid that broke the news, to which other publications quickly picked it up. Or rather: gossip. They had no actual news. Julie harrumphed. She hated the tabloids and those teenybopper papers; she knew it boosted her popularity, but she also wished they stopped existing altogether.
Luke and her hadn't even noticed the paparazzi, or fan, taking the picture. They had foolishly presumed no one cared about pedestrians in New York, so by extension, them as well. Luke lived bicoastal and rarely got approached on the East Coast.
But they pushed their luck.
The other texts were from her management, her P.A., her record label, Carlos, Carrie, Reggie, Alex, and Luke. She skipped all of them to reply to him first.
Luke: are you okay???
Julie smiled. Of course, he wanted to make sure she was okay first. She hadn't checked the comment section under the Teen Vogue post yet, but she imagined several were nasty towards her. Luke Patterson was the sexy golden boy after all, the one that revived punk and headlined festivals all summer long.
Not that she wasn't talented, too. Julie was just... quieter, she supposed, a presence felt but not as boisterous as Sunset Curve. Pop ballads were her forte.
She texted a response. yeah, i'm fine. surprised though. i didn't realise we were being watched. how are you feeling?
He read it immediately and replied. kinda relieved?? is that bad to say??? i wanna show you off jules
The singer rolled her eyes. It was no secret that Luke fell first and harder for her, which showed in all his actions. Deeply physically affectionate, always showering her in compliments and hyping her up, and saying stuff like this: wanting to show her off. It sounded so boyish.
A public relationship was the last thing she wanted, however. It never ended well. So many celebrity couples broke up, or got divorced, while in the public eye and indirectly forced fans to pick a side when it was none of their business. She wasn't intending on breaking up with Luke any time soon, but she didn't want to entertain the public's fantasy in the first place.
This photo wasn't helping.
Albeit not incriminating - they were just talking - it did add to the pattern people were noticing between them. Both were 'single', conventionally attractive, around the same age and in the same industry. It made sense. Stranger assumptions have been created.
Luke sent another text. i'm back in la tonight. catch up tmw morning?
Logically, she should say no and wait for the rumour to die down. In reality, she wanted to see him all the time, and so she agreed and sent a cute selfie with a thumbs up.
~*~*~*~
She noticed him immediately. A twill hat, sunglasses, a vintage t-shirt and cargo pants, hopping on his heels while he waited for her outside a brunch spot. Julie willed herself to not speed up and grab someone's attention, keeping her face in check when he caught her eye.
"Hey- oh!"
Luke snatched her hand and dragged her into an alleyway in between the brunch place and a laundromat. Grinning, he got rid of his glasses and swooped down to kiss.
Julie gently clasped his cheek, enjoying the moment. Yesterday, she was so afraid everything was ruined, their careers and their relationship. Now the kiss stilled her thoughts.
"Hey," he exhaled. "You look nice."
The compliment widened her smile. "Thank you."
Luke and Julie met at the afterparty of an award show. She had won Best Pop Album and his band won Best Alternative Music Album. The entire night, they drank champagne and giggled about the weird sides of the music industry, lamenting about snobby producers and reminiscing the greatest venues. They exchanged numbers and the rest was history.
He just got her, in a way no else did. Though he had a totally different personality, they shared the same norms and values. She was, like, kind of in love with him. A perfect smile did that to a girl.
"How was the rest of your trip?" she asked.
His mouth twitched, gazing at her in that overwhelming, fond way. "I missed you. The boys are so done with me."
Julie laughed. "I can imagine. And I missed you, too."
The hands on her waist tightened. "Explain to me again why no one can know?"
"It's not that 'no one' can know. Everyone in our close circle knows. I just don't want the public to put their noses in our business. But... I didn't think it would be this hard." Her eyes averted to the dirty asphalt. Even their shoes matched. "I don't... I don't want you to feel like I'm ashamed of you, or something."
An incredulous chuckle left his lips. "Jules, the only thing I'm feeling is luck, okay? Trust me. You-" He paused. She looked up to find him struggling with his words. That never happened.
"Luke?"
"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me," he rushed out.
Oh. That was kind of like a love confession, wasn't it? Before she second-guessed herself, Julie threw her arms around his neck and kissed him, hard, humming in delight when he responded just as intensely. His thumbs pressed in her hipbones, raking down her bum and up her spine. It felt desperate. More than a 'hello' or 'goodbye' kiss. It felt like a promise. And they refused to let go of it.
His mouth was hot against hers. Ragged breaths shared when they separated for split seconds before chasing the other again. With Luke's back pressed against the brick wall, she felt powerful, and wanted, and happy.
This was insane, making out like this in an shadowy alleyway in broad daylight, but she couldn't find it within herself to care. Because he was one of the best things that has happened to her as well. She got it now. The thought of someone else shooting their shot with Luke made her ill, to the point that hard-launching Luke on her socials just once to get it over with sounded rather appealing.
Damn it.
Pressing her hands into his shoulders, she let go and took a deep breath. Luke stared at her, dazed and puffy-lipped, with messy hair. She felt like a frenzied high schooler that just made out for the first time.
"Um," she trailed, blinking, "let's... let's go eat."
He shook his head with a laugh. "Yeah, sure." Luke placed the sunglasses back on his head and went to move back into the daylight, but Julie grabbed his bicep before he could.
"And after," she added, nervous, "I'll... announce our relationship on my socials. Because you're really important to me, too."

Social media and Patches
Apparently i’m a mcyt writer now, enjoy this one:,) (I moved this from my other account so don't come fore me)
Feel free to send in some requests, reblogs are very much appreciated
Pairing; CC!Dream x GN!Reader
Words; 500
Warnings; None, perhaps my bad spelling?
Tumblr media
Social media, that was something Y/N Y/L/N never dug too deep in. Some may wonder why and there were a few reasons really. One of them being their boyfriend, Y/N’s boyfriend was none other than the famous Dream.
Y/N and Dream had been together for almost two years now and everything was going great, well, except for the social media part. Dreams fans wanted Y/N to post more stuff and with stuff they meant more pictures of Dream, this of course didn’t make much sense since none of them knew what he actually looked like. Y/N’s camera roll was filled to the brim with pictures of their love but they of course never posted them. Dream often saw this but thought none of it. Usually when he posted something it was either something about hitting a new milestone or some pictures of Patches, he did on rare occasions post a photo of the couple together but none where you could see their faces.
When he woke up one weekend morning he found himself admiring his precious partner that was fast asleep next to him. He pulled them closer and kissed their shoulder, he then thought of something that might just change their mood a little bit. He grabbed his phone from his nightstand and opened the camera, he made some noises so that the cat between them looked up at her owner. Patches let out a small noise. When he looked at the picture he couldn’t help but smile, his partner had their hand on Patches back and the cat looked more than happy. He went to his instagram and when he went to post it with the caption ‘Patches hanging with her parents’.
Later that day when Y/N was sitting on the sofa in one of Dream’s hoodies and a pair of sweatpants and had Patched on their lap, Dream decided that it was time to capture another  Patched and Y/N moment. He slowly walked into the room with his phone in his hand and as he approached the two Y/N looked up from the cat they had been talking to and smiled, just at that moment he snapped a picture.
“What do you feel like eating tonight baby?” He asked as he sat down next to them. Y/N shrugged and moved closer to their boyfriend.
“I don’t know, just don’t feel like having pizza.” They said with a tired voice, Dream let out a small laugh and said
“How are you tired, you slept for at least 12 hours last night.” Y/N let out a sigh and said “I’m always tired when you don’t have any plans.”
After a while when he knew Y/N was asleep he pulled out his phone again and went to the colorful app. He went to his latest post to check the comments and they did not disappoint.

Culinary major! Soobin x food vlogger! reader; just some teeth rotting fluff
Word Count: 3.35k words
Mellow speaks: So I finally completed this long overdue and super fun request!!! Honestly, writing this was just so amazing, and I kinda drew Y/N based on my own self, so I hope you enjoy reading it!!
Rushing into his apartment, Soobin didn't waste a single minute in discarding his bag on the floor, rushing towards his laptop and turning it on. As the screen booted, the final-year culinary major prayed to the gods for the livestream to not have started yet. The winner of the contest from last month was to be announced at the beginning of the stream, and even though Soobin didn't have any hopes of him winning, he couldn't help the tiny voice at the back of his head saying, "What if?."
He was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard a voice, sweet and velvety as always. There you were, on his screen, the biggest of smiles plastered on your face, making him feel warm all over. Y/N L/N, his favorite food vlogger in the world, ready to start another livestream. Soobin had always been more of a silent supporter, his introverted self being too shy to even post a comment under any of your videos, partly because you had a habit of replying to as many of those comments as possible, and he knew for a fact that he would combust on the spot if you were to ever reply to his praises of you.
You see, he greatly admired your love for food and your wanderlust. He was also a great fan of the way you spoke, and the way you articulated your ideas and thoughts. Truth be told, he genuinely liked you, and not just your voyager self. Watching your videos over the years, he had found himself developing a small crush on you, knowing full well that it was probably just him being starstruck. So, gathering all the bravery he had, the boy had finally pressed "Send" on the application form for the competition on the last day, after contemplating it for God knows how long.
There had been only one question on the form, asking respondents to describe what food meant to them. A smile had graced Soobin's lips as you answered it, pouring in his most sincere thoughts on everything culinary. What had pushed him to participate, you ask? It had been the prize, of course. A chance to hang out with none other than you yourself, through a one-on-one video call. He had always wanted to see you in person, to tell you how much your vlogs meant to him. How they had helped discover his own love for food, had helped him find his happiness in the kitchen.
And that had brought him to right now, biting on his fingernails as he listened to your regular introduction, one that he knew by heart and repeated after you, subconsciously. "Hey my food-holics! How are all of you doing today? Hale and hearty, I hope!," you said, following up quickly with a brief overview of the contest, before announcing the winner, as Soobin waited with bated breath. "All your answers were amazing, and I could relate to so many of them! It really sucks that we can only have one winner, since you're all winners to me!," you smiled, and he caught himself copying your expression. "So now, the winner of the contest, and the person who gets to be my new friend, is @aglio_olive!!," you exclaimed, clapping your hands as your eyes crinkled up in joy.
The fact that you had just announced him as the winner of registered belatedly, as Soobin was busy gushing over how adorable you had looked while clapping. He felt his mouth drop open, finding it hard to focus on what you said next. "I'll be contacting you via email shortly," you had said, and that was all it took for the rest of the livestream to go by in a blur for him, as he waited for your mail, checking and re-checking his inbox every two minutes. But it wasn't until the next day that he finally received what he had been peeling his eyes out for. An email from your official account (or that's what he figured), informing him that the meeting would take place on the coming Saturday, at 6:00 pm. Now all he had to do was wait three days, but it was easier said than done.
By the time Saturday rolled around, Soobin was equal parts bubbling with excitement and panicking with nerves. Reluctant to trust his own fashion choices, he had called over his best friend, Yeonjun, hoping to get some much needed guidance. "Should I wear this suit? Or will simple tracks be better?," he had asked, making the older boy shake his head as he patted him on the back. "My friend, Y/N's neither your professor, nor your friend. You're meeting them for the first time, so why don't you just wear something comfortable, that would make them feel at ease too?," he smirks, throwing a plain blue hoodie his way.
As the clock struck 6:00, Soobin found himself seated at his study table, ready to start the meeting. He had even prepared cue cards to help him if he got stuck, and they were propped conveniently next to the laptop. He reached out for them, but just at that moment, his screen came alive with someone waving at him with a smile on their face. Awestruck, he simply waved back, too tongue-tied to say anything. "Wow," he thought to himself, "They look so much better without makeup." A couple seconds later, a new kind of panic set in. "Am I staring too hard? Is it creepy? Should I look down? No but I need to keep eye contact!"
Little did he know, you were having similar, if not identical thoughts. "Wow, no one told me he was gonna be this cute. Blue suits him so well! I'm no staring, am I? Should I speak first? Or should I wait for him to say something?" This finally resulted in the both of you speaking at the same time, something you would later smile about. Because saying "How are you? I'm Soobin," and "I'm Y/N! How are you?," helped you crack into laughter, breaking the ice and easing the awkwardness. Once you had gotten past the niceties, it was time to get to know each other better. The cue cards lay unused, as Soobin just spoke about whatever came to mind, praising your vlogs and thanking you for teaching him more about cuisines. You, on the other hand, took the time to get to know him better, asking him questions about what it was like to study culinary science, something you had never gotten the chance to do.
The hour-long virtual meeting flew by in the blink of an eye, or so it seemed to the both of you. Talking to you, Soobin didn't once feel that you were a stranger or that he was just a fan. You seemed like a genuine and warm person to him that he couldn't help but admire you even more than he did before. To him, somewhere during the meeting, you stopped seeming like a famous vlogger anymore, and instead, all he saw you as was a friend. You, on the other hand, had made up your mind about him being the most interesting person you had ever met, and couldn't stop a sad sigh from escaping your lips as you looked at the time. "Well, Soobin. It's been a pleasure meeting you," you had said, making him smile wistfully.
The moment he had logged out of the meeting, he found himself missing you. He thought back on how nice you had been, smiling when he pictured your face, your hair slightly messy but not too unkempt, an oversized hoodie thrown over your body. To him, it had honestly felt like he was conversing with a friend, and he couldn't bring himself to let such an amazing person walk out of his life. So, without thinking, he began typing out an email to your account, his finger hovering just above the "Send" button. He stopped short though, realizing that your official account wasn't meant for personal mails, and realizing that he had no other means to contact you. Pouting, he fell face-first onto the bed, his energy going down all of a sudden.
He woke up to a "ping," indicating an email on his phone. Unlocking it, he noticed a mail from an account he had never contacted before. Clueless, he clicked on it, the phone nearly falling out of his hand as he read through it. It had been you, after all, reaching out to him through your personal account, and telling him that you had loved talking to him, and would like to be his friend. And thus began the most beautiful friendship either of you had ever forged, full of memories even though you hadn't met each other.
Late night video chats and good morning calls became a ritual, and Soobin found himself busily typing away on his phone every free second he got. You told him all about your escapades and trips, sending him photos and urging him to try cooking whatever you ate and whatever you liked. He, on the other hand, would teach you to cook, sending you tips and giving you suggestions on what to eat. Food was an intergalactic part of the relation you shared, but it was far from being the only thing.
When things got hard for him, you were there to push him towards his dream, reminding him day in and day out that he would have to give in his all to achieve it. "You'll be the greatest chef one day, Soob," you'd giggle, causing him to let out a whine as he said, "How would you know? You haven't even tasted my cooking yet!" He too, was there to provide you a taste of what it felt like to be grounded to one place, to have everything you wanted right next to you. He was there for you to cry to when someone posted a nasty comment under you video, and he was there to virtually feed you when you missed a home-cooked meal. Inside jokes became a thing, as did bitching about classmates and complaining about managers.
Over time, your friendship started blossoming into something more, as Soobin found himself catching feelings, real feelings, for you. The way you smiled, the way you would bite your nails just like him as you went through what people had to say about your videos, the way you cracked stupid jokes and laughed at them alone, he found himself loving them all. He had given his heart out to you, and he didn't want to take it back. You, meanwhile, had been a bit more careful of your feelings, wary of harboring any hopes for a long-distance relationship. But over time, you too, found yourself drowning into the oceans that were his eyes, watching the way his lips moved through the screen, imagining them on yours. Over time, you too, felt your feelings grow, but being your stubborn self, you didn't act on them.
Days turned into months, and soon enough, you were keeping Soobin company through his late night study sessions, talking to him in the hopes of keeping him awake. Helping him prepare flashcards, and letting him teach you a full four-course meal so that he could practice for his practical exams. "What are you gonna do once you graduate?," became a regular question you posed towards him, and every time, it was the same reply. "I don't know yet, Y/N. I want to do something like you. I want to travel the world and learn about different cuisines first-hand."
As Soobin's exams drew nearer, you found yourself bring just as worried as he was, worried about how he'd fare in the examinations, worried about what he'll do when he gets his degree. But keeping your concerns aside, you did your best to push him to do his best, study that last chapter, practice that last technique, memorize that last recipe. "I just wanna sleep, Y/N," he'd whine, only to have you let out a giggle at how adorable he looked. "It's for your own good, bub," you'd reply, your smile somehow managing to give him the strength to put in just a little extra effort.
Seeing him work so hard, you couldn't help but want to give him a surprise by congratulating him in person when he graduated. So, you decided to plan a trip to Seoul, shooting a film vlog just an excuse to finally meet your closest friend, and the person you had a crush on. You had initially wanred to keep the plan a secret, but soon realized what a waste it would be to not use it to your advantage. And so started your ingenious way of getting Soobin to hit the books. "I'm coming to Seoul after your exams, but I'll meet you only if you put in all your effort," you'd tell him, repeating it like a mantra day in and day out.
In response, the boy would pout and whine about how he "hated" you, but started putting in double the effort, just to make you proud. Your tactic seemed to work, but Soobin was still nervous. Nor about the theory, but about the practical exams. "What if I don't do well on the exam? It happens all the time on Masterchef," he said one day, looking into your eyes as you attempted to calm him down. "I know you'll nail it, Binnie," you replied, smiling at him through the screen. "Just think about what makes you happy while you cook, and you'll be good to go." As if on a whim, Soobin muttered out a soft, "You," causing your breath to hitch as you asked him to repeat. "You make me happy," he said again, looking down as he felt his cheeks growing warm. You couldn't help but smile at his sudden confession, sending a virtual kiss his way. "Now go study, you idiot," you giggled, proceeding to tell him about your day as he pored over his books.
The day of his practical exam rolled by, and as you had said, Soobin decided to cook while thinking of something that made him happy. He thought back on the day when you had told him about a delicacy from a city you had visited, and had convinced him to teach you how to make it. The memory alone made a smile appear on his lips, reminding him of how happy the two of you were. And so, that's what he cooked, passing his exam with flying colors. He was so happy he could have kissed you if you were there, and he told you that, causing a laugh to escape your lips. "I'll be there soon," was all you said, fighting to control your excitement.
Soobin passed with flying colors, earning his degree fair and square. And the one person he wanted to thank for it, was you. As you had promised him, a week later found you roaming the streets of Seoul, as you hurriedly made your way towards his college, ready to finally meet him at his convocation. Climbing up the stage to accept his degree, his eyes were busy scanning the crowds, eager to see your face. When he couldn't find you, however, he felt his smile falter, as he took in a gulp.
"Where are you Y/N?," he thought to himself, hand itching to check his phone that was lying in his back pocket. You had told him you'd be here on time, so then, where were you? Just as he feels himself falling deeper into his thoughts, he (like everyone else in the hall) hears footsteps running down the corridor, finally revealing you standing at the entrance, out of breath and with a huge smile stretching across your face. "You're here," he mouthed, his smile matching yours, as you replied with a simple nod and a "Congratulations," your eyes brimming with tears of joy for the boy.
Accepting his degree, Soobin walked off the stage to sit with his classmates, eyes meeting yours every so often as he tried to fight the urge to rush to you and hug you. Once the ceremony ended, neither of you wasted a second in finding each other, throwing yourselves into a hug long overdue. It didn't feel weird as you snuggled your face into his convocation robe, and it didn't feel weird as he did the same into your hair. Pulling away, you just couldn't hide the smiles that threatened to take over your entire face, taking each other's hand as Soobin left you to his parents. "Mom, Dad, this is my friend Y/N," he introduced, and his mom didn't miss the spark in her son's eyes as he looked at you.
Once you were done with the niceties, the two of you made your way out into the city once Soobin had handed his robe over to his mom. Walking the streets with him, with you cracking jokes and him pointing out tourist sights to you, you felt something you had never felt, no matter how many cities you visited. A sense of comfort, a sense of belonging. You felt like you were home for the first time in ages, and it was all because of the guy walking next to you. As if on a whim, you whipped out your video-camera, switching it on and turning it to yourself. Soobin belatedly realized what you were doing, when he heard you recite you introduction. Looking at you in shock, he felt his mouth fall open as he heard you say the words, "Friend," "Soobin," "Featuring," "Guide," in quick succession, piecing the sentence together in his brain.
"Y/N! What are you doing??," he whined, looking down to hide his face. "Awww Soobinnie is shy!!! Sorry guys, it's his first time," you cooed, a giggle escaping your lips as you turned your camera off, trying to convince him to feature in your vlog. "But I won't know what to say!!," he retorted, making you snicker. "Just take me out to eat somewhere tell, and tell the camera why you like the place you like and the food you like. It's not that hard!," you replied, and after much convincing (and some borderline begging), he finally agreed.
He showed you all his favorite eateries and restaurants, gawking at the insane discounts you got him, and just enjoying watching you eat in person, sharing his food. By the time evening rolled out, the two of you were full to your throats, looking out over the river from the bridge. "Thank you Y/N," Soobin said, turning to look at you. "For today, and for everyday. For being there for me, and for being the best friend I have ever had, and more." "Thank you too, Soob," you replied, your eyes stinging as you looked up at him. "Thank you for making me feel at home. Thank you for becoming my home." You hadn't noticed just how close your faces had become, both of you having leaned in subconsciously. Finally, Soobin closed the gap, your lips meeting his in a kiss that's full of the pent-up love and emotions.
His lips were soft against yours, molding with yours like two pieces of the same puzzle. Pulling away, a smile graced your lips as you looked up at him shyly, whispering an "I like you," causing him to repeat your words and adding a "too," cheeks rising up in a smile. Biting you bottom lip, you say, "Come with me," making him tilt his head in confusion. "You said you wanted to be like me. To learn about cuisines first-hand. Then come with me. I don't want to be away from you, I want to be with you 24/7, and not virtually. I want to talk to you in person, to hug you, to kiss you." You notice his smile growing wider, and so you ask, "So, what do you say?," as he replies by placing his lips back on yours.

Request: (whenever you have time of course.) What about a post-war draco malfoy x reader where after astoria dies draco and scorpius are left alone for a couple years then he sees y/n a friend from Hogwarts and they fall in love again (you can decide how). this is my vision and I'm a sucker for post-war fics with draco. 🥺💕 - @obx-beach
A/N: I LOVED THIS REQUEST SO MUCH. Thank you so much for requesting it and for trusting me with your request! It got away from me but I really wanted to explore this idea in depth because for me, anyway, grief isn't something that disappears over time, but rather, becomes bearable. Please read the warnings before reading, I cover some heavy topics. As always, I hope you like it!
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x Fem!Reader
Warnings: heavy talk of grief and loss, some swearing, mentions of food, alcohol consumption, mentions of ghosts, a very cheesy ending.
Word count: 11.9k

Draco so rarely finds peace nowadays; a consequence of a confidently walking toddler who’s penchant for curiosity has him grabbing at what he can – the paper, the rug, the dog’s tail.
Draco so rarely find peace nowadays, but once a week, on a Saturday, he drops Scorpius off at his parents. His mother and father doting over the blonde-haired boy who looks more like his mother everyday despite the argument from Narcissa – “He has your nose, Draco!”
On the days he drops his son off at the manor, he apparates to the familiar black gates. They squeak whenever he opens them and no matter how many times he visits, he never remembers to bring the oil he promises to fetch.
Now, he doesn’t look at the names as he makes his way towards the familiar row, hands in his pockets, shoes sinking in the wet grass.
Before, he’d drag his feet. Reading every name he could as he struggled to come to terms with his disbelief and grief.
The granite headstone sits prettily above its plot; the marker for Draco to slow his pace to an amble.
She had died a Malfoy but had been buried in the Greengrass plot.
Draco had known of Astoria Greengrass for years; had been schooled with her sister but had known the family personally for years due to similar social circles, and as a result, social functions. Draco spent ball after ball getting to know the younger Greengrass sister much to the chagrin of Pansy Parkinson who still held a candle for Draco since their fling ended in Fifth Year.
He worked up the nerve to ask Astoria to dinner after a particularly hellish function where his father had pushed him to dance with every available girl that looked his way. For the most part, Draco accepted – wanting to keep his father happy and his mother hopeful. But through every dance, through every twirl on the floor, his eyes would wander back to where Astoria sat very intently focused on the napkin design.
On his third circuit of the dancefloor, Draco broke away from his dance partner earning a glare for his disrespect. He apologised with a smile but turned to the brunette sitting alone; he held his hand to her, and she took it with the grace of a well-raised daughter.
They span around the dancefloor; circle after circle after circle. They laughed, and they smiled, and they settled into a happy silence. One Draco felt so comfortable in that by the time they had finished their second dance together, Draco was certain he wanted to marry her.
By the end of the night, Astoria knew she wanted to marry him.
They were married less than six months after that night.
Three months after they were married, Astoria announced her pregnancy. Rumours started; stating that was the real cause for their quick wedding. But their families knew different; their families spent the entirety of the pregnancy wrapped in a cocoon of worry.
Then blood curse on the Greengrass family meant that Astoria would die at a young age, and Draco had prepared himself for that. Though, in private, he researched what he could to see if he could break the blood curse. This meant, however, the pregnancy was watched closely by Narcissa, by Daphne, and by multiple Healers flooed in from St Mungos.
Nine months later, on an unusually warm day in January, Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy was born. Immediately, Draco knew that though he had his hair, Scorpius had his mother’s eyes and mouth.
Three hours after the birth of her son; as she held him tightly in her arms, watching him with the love only a mother could know, Astoria Malfoy nee Greengrass took her last breath.
-----------
The months after her death, Draco barely coped. He woke up in the mornings solely for Scorpius and Scorpius alone. He devoted his time to his son, marking every milestone in his baby scrapbook which on occasion he would take to his wife’s grave and go through it with her. Scorpius never visited the grave; for starters, he was too young, Draco wouldn’t let his son go through that but his son knew that his mother was no longer with them.
But that didn’t stop Scorpius asking for his mother after a nightmare had pulled him from sleep.
Narcissa tried to help; tried everything she could to help with his grief – at one point even suggesting he go see a psychic, but the fear of transference was enough to put Draco off the idea.
He didn’t have the heart to tell his mother that he didn’t need a psychic to tell him Astoria had made it to the other side and that she had found peace.
She haunted him nearly every night.
Flashes of her white night gown in the corner of his eye; glimpses of her beautiful face in the mirror.
His heart would race, and his palms would sweat as the panic set in.
For a long while, he believed himself to be going insane. The sheer grief he felt at the loss of his wife driving him to madness as though he were Heathcliff suffering the loss of his Cathy.
------
Draco had memorised the inscription on her headstone after visiting for a month straight.
He had memorised the path to her grave by the end of the first week; the soil still needing to settle.
His feet knew where the uneven ground would be, so it was all dodged expertly.
Draco has very little to say to Astoria when he kneels in front of her. He updates her on Scorpius; promises that he will bring him soon, but it was still too early for his son to see his mother.
In fact, most of his time at the grave is spent in silence. His knees soaking wet from the morning dew still covering the grass.
“Draco? Is that you?” A chiming voice asks as Draco’s head remains bent over his wife’s grave. He releases a sigh before looking up to see that it’s you – someone he hasn’t seen in years. The last he saw of you; you were stood defiantly facing the hordes of Death Eaters in courtyard at Hogwarts.
“(Y/N)?” He asks.
You frown, pointing towards the grave where his wife lies in perpetual sleep, “I heard, but I didn’t believe. I’m sorry for your loss, Draco.”
“Thank you,” he murmurs, “Why are you here? If you don’t mind me asking.”
You hold the flowers in your hand up in response, “I lost my grandfather less than a year back. I visit every week.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know. He was a great man.” Draco murmurs, shame washing over him from his curt tone.
“Thank you,” You murmur quietly, “It’s still hard.”
Draco wants to offer words of comfort; to tell you that pain eases over time, but he would be lying to your face. The pain doesn’t ease, and the grief doesn’t lessen, it simply moves to one side and becomes bearable until something reminds you of the one you’ve lost whether it be a sound or a smell and then the pain washes over you like a tidal wave and you start to wonder whether you’ll come up for air or simply drown.
Draco decides not to say anything; turning back to face the woman he had pledged his life too.
You walk away after a slow nod; you wouldn’t get anything more out of him now.
-----
They say that time heals, that grief lessens, but it doesn’t.
Draco loves his son; he adores his son, but he cannot help but see him as a reminder of what he lost on the day of his birth.
He had gained a son; an heir to carry on the Malfoy name but he had lost the love of his life.
Draco leaves the graveyard soon after his encounter with you; feeling surly with how he had spoken to you.
He searches you before he leaves, but he finds you knelt at the grave of your grandfather with your head bent as the silent sobs rack your body.
He leaves you to your privacy; understanding that right now, intrusion is the last thing needed.
------------
Draco sits in the living room of his marital home that night; a tumbler of whisky in his hand as he leans back in the chesterfield armchair gifted to him by his parents as part of their wedding present.
The wedding present being the house.
There are reminders of Astoria all over the house; from the pattern of the curtains to her photos lining the walls. She was everywhere. How was he was supposed to start living his life when his house remained a mausoleum?
He feels the hand on his shoulder; he doesn’t need to turn to see who it is.
“You need to stop doing this, Draco,” She murmurs.
He sighs through his nose, “I don’t see why.”
“You’re hurting everyone around you; you didn’t use to be like this.”
“It’s been a trying time, love.”
“I know it has. For both you and Scorpius, but it’s been three years, darling.”
The air in the room has become cold; too cold. To the point where his breath has started to fog; he takes a sip of the amber liquid to warm his body through.
“I can’t forget you, I won’t. He has no memories of you; he needs me to remember you.”
The voice behind him shakes, “My love, you’ll never forget me. I live on in him.”
Draco doesn’t say anything; the lump in his throat making it impossible for him to speak. The absolute yearning with him has him reaching up to take the hand settled on his shoulder.
The tears start to fall when his hand falls through the ghostly spectre.
-----
Morning comes and Draco wakes in the same chair he had fallen asleep in. He scratches at the stubble lining his face as he stretches his legs, bones popping as he stands to full height.
The clock on the mantle chimes seven times and Draco supposes he should start the day and collect his son from the Manor. He hadn’t been in any state last night to have him at home; it was better for Scorpius to stay with his grandparents.
The light to the bathroom flickers as Draco drags himself into the shower; the hot water and lavender shower gel doing a good job at leeching the tension that had become set into his shoulders.
He wipes the steam from the mirror before lathering his face with shaving cream and beginning the soothing action of shaving. Narcissa preferred him clean shaven anyway; believed that the stubble made him look like a vagrant.
A flash of white in the corner of his eye has Draco freezing with the razor halfway to his cheek.
His hand begins to shake, and he places the razor back in the sink as he braces himself on the counter. He counts to ten before he dares to look back up at himself in the mirror.
He was being haunted.
------
In the years after the Second Wizarding War, Narcissa had taken it upon herself to entirely renovate Malfoy Manor from the dark, dank place it was to make it more of a home for her family. A home in which Draco should have been raised in.
Narcissa greets him at the door with a kiss on the cheek and a concerned look that only a mother could pull off.
“Good Morning Mother, how are we today?”
“I’d be a lot better if you looked better. Did you get any sleep?”
Draco nods, thinking to the few hours in the armchair, “I got some.”
“Not enough by the looks of it, but at least you shaved. Have you eaten yet?”
He shakes his head, “I came straight here.”
“Luckily for you, Scorp is still eating.”
Draco hangs his coat on the grand railing by the door before following his mother through his childhood home.
His son beams at the sight of his father walking through the door, “Dad!” he yells, dropping his piece of fruit and jumping off his chair. He runs to Draco, wrapping his arms around his legs.
Draco chuckles, picking his son up, settling him on his waist, “Hey there squirt, did you have a nice night with granny and grandpa?”
Scorpius nods, still chewing his last piece of breakfast, “Yeah, me and granny baked, and she let me eat the mix!”
Narcissa lets out an overdramatic gasp, “That was our secret, Scorp!”
Scorpius laughs at his granny’s reaction, “I had to tell Dad!”
Draco tickles his son’s stomach; grinning at the laughter leaving his son’s mouth.
He had never known a world with his mother; and he never would, yet here he was as happy as any three year old could be.
“Are you joining us, Draco?” His father’s voice sounds; breaking Draco from his melancholy.
Draco clears his throat, letting Scorpius down so he can sit next to Narcissa at the table, “Yes, I think I will.”
Anything to not go back to the house so soon; anything to avoid seeing her in the corner of his eye or in the mirrors.
Narcissa nails him with a look she has made entirely her own after dealing with a supremacist order for over a decade.
Draco wavers under his mother’s stare; ready to drop the pretence and cry in her arms.
He doesn’t.
Instead, he grabs the bowl of strawberries and scoops a spoonful onto his plate before reaching for a waffle and grabbing his knife and fork.
“Lucius, darling, why don’t you show Scorpius your matchbox collection? I know he’d love them.”
“What are matched boxes?” Scorpius asks.
Narcissa laughs lightly at her grandson’s pronunciation, “Match boxes, sweetheart.”
Lucius stands from the table; knowing very well what the determined look in his wife’s eyes meant, “Come on, my boy. I’ll show you my collection; I want to see if you can count how many there are.”
Scorpius’ eyes light up at the chance to make his grandfather proud; he jumps down from the chair before reaching to grab Lucius’ hand. Together, they leave the dining room, Lucius prattling about the history of the match box and why they needed to be collected.
Narcissa waits until they’re out of earshot before turning on her son who on the outside, almost pulled off looking so put together. Inside, she knew, was a broken man desperate to find a way to lessen the pain.
“It’s been three years, darling.”
“I know,” Draco answers; resisting the urge to groan.
“How often are you visiting her?”
“Once a week now.”
There was a point in the first months after her death where Draco would visit the graveyard every day for hours. He didn’t even say anything; he just sat on the perfectly trimmed grass in front of her grave and sobbed for the life that had been lost and the future that had been robbed.
Narcissa nods, “That’s good, Draco.”
Draco nods; he had gotten better in the years since her passing but Narcissa would never understand what it feels like to lose a spouse a year into a marriage that should have lasted an eternity.
Narcissa sighs, “Do you think it’s time now?”
“Time for what?” He asks; voice hard.
“To think about finding somebody else? I’m not saying you need to do it right now, Draco, but it’s something to think about.”
Draco sees red, but he tries to keep a lid on his temper for the simple fact that it is his mother sitting in front of him, “I lost my wife, mother. She died giving birth to my son; your grandson. She died and now Scorpius doesn’t have a mother and I don’t have my wife standing beside me. I think I’ll take all the time I need to recover from this.”
Narcissa sighs, “Of course, Draco. You know I didn’t mean it as an insult.”
Draco rubs at his eyes; feeling wretched for the way he had spoken to his mother. She barely left his side after Astoria’s death; she had been the one to pull him away from her body.
“I’m sorry, mother. It was a tough night.”
“You’re having a lot of those, I’ve noticed.”
Draco’s lip begins to wobble, and he thanks Merlin that Scorpius is out of the room, so he didn’t have to watch his father fall to pieces.
Narcissa folds her son into her arms with the care only a mother could show. She strokes his hair as he sobs against her.
“I didn’t think it would be this hard,” Draco sobs.
“Neither did we, my love.”
-----
Draco feels better after talking to his mother. Lucius returned fairly quickly after Draco had dried his eyes; Scorpius following on his tail, chattering about what he planned to do when he returned home.
Draco opens his arms for his son who happily falls into them; preferring to be carried rather than walking unless he was running around the gardens or the park.
“Do you have everything you need?” Draco asks his son.
Scorpius nods as Lucius holds up the small overnight bag that holds his clothes, pyjamas and his priceless teddy, Wellesley. It was the first thing Astoria brought when she found out she was pregnant. Scorpius treasured it like nothing else.
Draco takes the bag from his father; well aware of the extra treats hidden there. Scorpius had Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy wrapped around his little finger.
After they apparate home, Lucius and Narcissa watch the spot in which their son and grandson disappeared. Hands clutching the other; both worried sick over their only son.
-----
He fills his week with his son; adventures, hide-and-seek, visits to the library. Draco makes sure Scorpius fills his day with activities designed to educate but to also have fun.
It’s also a way for Draco to keep his mind drifting to the one person who no matter how he often prays and wishes, will always remain absent.
The park is one of Scorpius’ favourite places to visit. He has a personal aim to swing as high as he can without giving his father a heart attack.
They spend their hours doing all sorts together, and every night before bed, Draco tucks Scorpius in tightly. Dropping a kiss to his son’s head and then his teddy’s head, Draco wishes Scorpius the sweetest of dreams.
On a night, Draco lets the memories of his short marriage consume him. He doesn’t wear his wedding ring on his finger anymore, but rather, attached to a chain he wears around his neck. He twists this chain for hours on a night thinking of the mother that Astoria never got the chance to be.
------
Draco’s visit to the graveyard is shorter this week on account of what happened last time. He knew what happened in the living room was down to the fact that he had spent too much time at her grave, lamenting how much he missed her.
It was expected that she would answer his calls.
So he resolves to make this visit shorter; long enough to clean the area and replace the flowers but short enough to not tempt fate and spectres.
Draco recounts to her tales of Scorpius’ week. Draco laughs and beams like a proud father when he tells the story of Scorpius adopting the family of Nifflers from their copse at the bottom of the garden. He had been so proud of himself; walking all the way back to the house with a four Nifflers in tow who had deemed Scorpius as one their own.
“You’d have thought he was a Scamander,” Draco laughs, patting the loose grass from his suit pants. “I think he could very well excel at Care of Magical Creatures but it’s too soon to tell, my dear.”
Eventually, Draco stands, wiping down his black suit trousers and whispering a goodbye.
Draco is a few steps away from the black, creaky gate when you bustle through; bouquet in hand, sad smile on your face.
You pause in the gateway when you see Draco standing before you.
“(Y/N),” Draco greets, “I was hoping to catch you. I wanted to apologise for how I spoke to you the last time I saw you.”
“Draco, there’s nothing to apologise for. You’re mourning your wife; the last thing you need is someone invading that space.”
“All the same, I’m sorry for how I spoke to you.”
“I accept your apology, Draco.”
“Would you like to join me for a coffee? It’s been years since I saw you last, and I think it would be nice to catch up.”
You glance between the flowers in your hand and Draco waiting patiently for an answer.
“It’s okay if you don’t. I understand if you want to be with your grandfather.”
You bite your lip, glancing back to the flowers, “Do you want to come with me? All I need to is say hello and change the flowers. You don’t have to, though.”
Draco shakes his head, “No, it’s okay. I’ve had my visit today, so I don’t mind waiting with you.”
You smile at him gratefully, “Thank you; he’s just this way.”
Draco follows you as you walk the well-trodden path to your grandfather’s grave. He doesn’t let himself think as he follows, and as a result, almost bumps into you when you stop in front of a grey granite headstone.
“Hi Grandad,” You greet, “I’ve brought someone with me today, I hope you don’t mind. I’m just changing your flowers though because then we’re going to get coffee.”
You turn your attention to Draco when you finish speaking, “It’s morbid I know but it helps me process. I know he isn’t hearing me, but I can vent here and somehow I always find a solution to my problem.”
Draco nods, “I do the same with Astoria. I tell her about Scorpius and her parents though I know they visit just as much.”
You smile at the blonde-haired man before discarding the dried out flowers to one side, replacing them with the fresher, brighter flowers.
Draco watches you through the process; not missing the way your eyes dart between the headstone and to something just past it.
For a brief moment, Draco wonders if you’re being haunted too.
-----
The coffee shop is warm compared to the brisk wind that howls outside. Draco’s body relaxes as he takes in the familiar scent of bitter coffee beans; it was a recent love of his, but now, he wouldn’t find himself going a day without a cup of the acrid liquid.
You unravel the scarf hanging around your neck before taking a seat at a corner table, “I didn’t think it would be this cold today. It makes me glad I overdressed,” you chuckle.
Draco laughs politely; his own coat now hanging on the back of his chair.
You smile, “Do you know what you want? I’ll go order.”
“Nonsense, I’ll order, I invited you here.”
“Well I won’t turn down free coffee, I’ll have a latte please.”
“I’ll be right back,” is all he says before leaving the table to order.
As the drinks are being made by the teenaged barista, Draco starts to second-guess his intentions for why he asked you for coffee in the first place. All week the conversation he had with his mother had been replaying in his mind, and then he runs into you as he’s leaving the graveyard. Before he knew it, the words were flying out of his mouth and he was unable to stop them.
He’s panicking, but he doesn’t find himself regretting asking you.
He’s only regretting his intentions as to why he asked you.
He’s been alone for three years. He has Scorpius, and his parents, but he doesn’t have anyone he can talk to on a night when the air is quiet, and the moon is high. He doesn’t have that one person that he can simply hold and know that everything will be okay.
Then and there, he lets himself admit it: he’s lonely.
Astoria had been everything for the eighteen months they had been together. He was utterly devoted to her; completely besotted by her. Draco knew that he had found the love of his life; he just didn’t expect her to be taken from him so soon.
But still he wonders.
He wonders if it’s time; he wonders whether Astoria watches him and urges him to find someone new.
To feel that rush of falling in love all over again.
The clinking of mugs rips Draco from his internal debating. He thanks the barista with a smile, picking up the tray of drinks and walking carefully back to where you wait for him.
You thank him as you pick up your latte, “You looked to be thinking pretty intensely over there.”
“You were watching me?”
Shrugging your shoulders, you say, “I got bored of the view of the café.”
Draco nods; sipping tentatively at his coffee, wincing before adding another sugar to taste.
“What were you thinking of? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“I don’t mind. I was thinking of Astoria,” he admits.
You simply nod your head; understanding completely that a widow would think of his loss.
“How are you coping with her loss? It’s been a few years now, hasn’t it?”
“I could ask you the same question about your grandfather,” Draco murmurs, “We’re coping okay. Scorpius is thriving; he’s such a smart three year old and I know I’m biased but he retains information like a sponge.”
You laugh, “I was going to ask you about your son, I’m glad to hear he’s happy.”
“He doesn’t have any memories of his mother, but he knows who she is. He has a framed picture of her in his room that he says goodnight to every night.”
“He sounds precious, Draco.”
Draco nods; thinking of his dear boy, “He is. And I know she’s proud of him, I just feel it in my bones.”
“I’ll bet my last sickle that she’s proud of you too.”
Draco blinks fast; ridding the sudden tears away. “Thank you,” he whispers, taking another drink of his coffee to distract from the sudden wave of emotion.
He clears his throat once the wave has passed, “I asked you here to catch up; not for me to ruin the mood with my grief. How have you been? I haven’t seen you since the war.”
“You can talk to me about this, Draco, I don’t mind,” You state before continuing, “I’ve been well – I travelled a lot after the war. The whole realisation of life is short really hit me, so I left the country for a bit; travelled through Europe before jumping ship to America.”
Draco’s eyes widen, “That’s incredible. Where was your favourite place to travel?”
You glare at him playfully, “That’s such a hard question!”
He laughs lightly, “Still – you have to answer.”
You tap your fingers against your thigh, thinking his question over. You had loved everywhere you visited; feeling extremely fortunate to have met such a range of magical communities as well as integrate yourself within muggle society for a time.
“I think it would have to be this tiny island in Greece; it is said that in ancient times, the locals believed it was the end of the world, and if you went any further, you would fall off. I stayed there the longest; around a month where I explored the island, ate their food, and drank with the locals. It was the best time of my life.”
Draco inhales sharply at your words; not realised that he’s instinctively leaned towards you through your speech. He leans back into his chair, running a hand through his hair, “It sounds wonderful,” he whispers.
You nod; eyes glazed somewhat as you think back to your time on that heavenly island, “It really was.”
You shake yourself from your reminiscing, “What about you then, Draco? I know about the wedding, and your son, but what did you do after the war?”
Draco waves his hand in a nonchalant fashion, “Nothing as wonderful as travelling the globe though I did go to France on my honeymoon. I trained as a Healer straight from Hogwarts; I’ve been at St. Mungo’s since Scorpius was born.”
“That’s great, Draco! I always knew you would make a great Healer ever since I saw you in Potions.”
Draco ducks his head, “Thank you, I enjoy the work. Are you working now?”
You nod your head, “I work for the Daily Prophet; writing real articles and not the trollop that Rita Skeeter used to waffle on about.”
Draco barks out a laugh, surprising himself at the volume of it, “I remember her coverage of the Triwizard Tournament! It was so awful.”
You beam; eyes bright with joy, “Weren’t they? I promise I’m a much better writer… not to sound big-headed.”
“I completely believe you; I’ll have to start keeping an eye out for your articles. I haven’t read the paper in so long. I haven’t had the time if I’m honest – I get my news from my mother.”
“How are your parents? I heard about them after the war.”
“Mother coped so well. She made it her mission to entirely renovate the house, and with it, the Malfoy reputation. She donates to charities now; her focus is children orphaned during the war. Father struggled, but he’s found his purpose for life again in Scorpius. Last time I was there, he showed him his collection of matchboxes.”
You laugh lightly, “That’s brilliant. I’m glad to hear that they’re doing well.”
“How is your family? I remember your mother from Kings Cross, always running to meet you off the train.”
“She’s doing okay,” You sigh, “She struggled after my grandfather but she’s working her way back to herself.”
Draco nods in understanding; he felt nothing but pride and a sting of jealously for your mothers process with her grief. Here he was, three years later, and still reaching out to the other side of bed only to grasp at empty, cold sheets.
However, as all things must, your time together comes to an end. The coffees are drank; coats are pulled back on and goodbyes are said on the pavement.
Draco walks away from you; apparating back to his home feeling lighter than he has in years.
------
Draco takes Scorpius to Diagon Alley on a Wednesday morning.
His son had been particularly restless the night before; a nightmare waking him. Draco does what he can to chase the monsters away before scooping up his only son and carrying him to the master bedroom. Scorpius sleeps soundly after that, but Draco remains awake – mind plaguing him with memories of Astoria but also of the coffee he shared with you.
It’s noon when Scorpius begins to pester his father for lunch. In his own words; he’s starving, and he hasn’t eaten in hours.
Draco laughs at his son. Three years old, but utterly dramatic. He kneels down so he’s eye-level, “How about we have ice cream for lunch?”
Scorpius’ face lights up and he begins to jump in his spot, “Can we go now? Please?”
Draco nods, holding out his hand for Scorpius take so he doesn’t get lost in the short distance to Florean Fortescue’s. He had lost him once; and whilst it was only two minutes before he found him, it was two minutes, he never wants to relive.
Draco lifts Scorpius so he can see the rows of flavours behind the glass. Scorpius’ eyes are wide as he checks the colour of every flavour. He even goes so far to press his face to the glass, fogging it up. Draco chuckles at his son’s antics; knowing full well he’ll pick the same flavour he’s gotten on every visit.
“Have you decided?”
Scorpius nods, “Chocolate please.”
Draco places Scorpius on the ground, “One chocolate tub, and one caramel fudge swirl tub please.”
Florean nods at the young Malfoy family with a large smile; watching them sit down at a window table before bringing their ice creams to them.
Scorpius attacks his chocolate tub with ferocity. Draco touches his son’s hand, “Slow down, squirt. You’ll get stomach ache.”
Scorpius looks as if he doesn’t believe his father’s word but not wanting to risk the chance of a stomach ache, he slows his pace. Carefully scooping the frozen treat before eating. His legs swing as he watches the scores of witches and wizards passing; they all look to be hurrying somewhere yet Scorpius doesn’t know where, but seeing all the different people, keeps his attention squarely on the window.
Draco works his way through his ice cream faster than his son; his weakness being the caramel fudge swirl that Florean makes fresh every day. He settles for drifting once his tub is empty and Scorpius is happily distracted by whatever he’s watching out of the window.
Draco begins to wonder about his son’s future – something he’s done a thousand times since his birth. He wonders about what Hogwarts house would best fit his sons personality; though he knew that the Sorting Hat would be the final word on that. But Draco can’t help but ponder over what attributes his son will demonstrate – will he ambitious enough for Slytherin? Courageous enough for Gryffindor? Loyal enough for Hufflepuff? Creative enough for Ravenclaw?
He had eight more years to ponder over it, but it’s still a question he’d like answered. However, Draco would still adore his son no matter his house.
“Draco?” Your voice sounds, breaking him out of his deliberating.
“(Y/N),” He greets.
Scorpius turns from people-watching, taking in the visitor standing at their table.
“And you must be Scorpius, it’s very nice to meet you. I’m (Y/N).”
Scorpius shies away slightly from the new person, inching back a bit in his chair.
“It’s okay, Scorpius,” Draco reassures, “I went to school with (Y/N).”
You nod, “I did! I was in Slytherin with him, and he was so smart! He still is; he’s a Healer isn’t he? Isn’t that so cool?”
Draco blushes at your compliments but it brings Scorpius out of his shell.
“My dad is the coolest! He fixes people when they are very sick.”
You nod seriously, “Yes, he does. It was very nice to meet you, Scorpius but I have to get back to work with my ice cream.”
Scorpius smiles, his teeth on show, “Goodbye!”
“It was nice to see you, Draco,” You say, smiling at the blonde-haired man.
“It was nice to see you too, even if it was so brief.”
You laugh, “Work calls I’m afraid, but I always have an ice cream, so I wasn’t going to let work stop me,” You wander back to the counter where Florean waits with your cone, “I’ll also cover Draco’s bill too, Florean.”
“You don’t have to,” Draco begins to protest.
You hold your hand up, smiling gently, “You treated me to coffee. I’ll treat you to your ice cream.”
Draco nods, wordlessly. Scorpius watches him with his eyebrows furrowed.
You take a lick of your cone, “I’ll see you soon, Draco. Have a nice day, Scorpius!”
And like that, you leave the ice cream parlour, heading back to the office where a pile of work awaits.
Draco leans back in his chair, disbelief clear on his face.
“What’s wrong, dad?”
Draco shakes his head, “Nothing, squirt.”
Scorpius shrugs, determining it adult stuff. “I like the lady who spoke to us.”
“(Y/N)?”
Scorpius nods, “She was really nice.”
“She is. She was nice when we were at school together.”
“She’s a good friend.”
“She is,” Draco murmurs once again, mind in another place entirely.
Scorpius lets his father have his moment; turning back to the window, wondering if he might get to see the nice lady named (Y/N) again.
------
Two months pass, and January’s winter gives way to March’s spring.
The gardens at his home and at the Manor have started to bloom beautifully meaning that Draco is constantly surrounded by floral aromas that make his head spin and Scorpius sneeze.
Draco starts to see more and more of you at the graveyard. After each visit, you seem to wait for the other – always asking whether the other would like to go for a coffee; very rarely refusing the offer.
He enjoyed the time he spent with you; Draco felt like he got to make up for the lost time he was an arsehole at Hogwarts.
The more time he spent with you; the more he started to feel the urge to begin his life again. But the hauntings continue; he continues to see his wife in the mirror; hearing her voice on a night whispering to him that it’s okay to move on. But hearing those words from the mouth of the woman he promised an eternity with racks his entire body with guilt.
But it’s gotten to the point where he doesn’t want to stay away from you.
The more time you spend with Draco Malfoy; the more you can feel yourself fall for him – his smile, his eyes, his mind. You just hoped that the landing wasn’t going to be too rough.
------
Draco drops Scorpius off at the Manor before heading to the graveyard for his usual Saturday visit. He blindly hopes to see you again after running into you at the ice cream parlour and seldom seeing you after but refuses to let himself dwell too long on the hope.
He was visiting his dead wife, after all.
He still grieves for her; still reaches for her in the middle of the night, but there are times through the day where he doesn’t feel so weighed down by grief – where he feels as if he can begin functioning fully once again.
But then that brings the guilt.
And that leads to the sightings.
And then that leads to the visits.
It’s a vicious cycle, and he’s desperate to break it.
He knows logically that Astoria would always be a part of him; he sees her every time he lays eyes on Scorpius but the small voice in the back of his head tells him often that he isn’t ready to let go yet.
And all Draco is desperate to know is: when?
-----
You find him knelt before her grave. He’s silent; simply staring at her headstone, reading the words that are already seared into his mind: Beloved Daughter, Wife, and Mother.
You place your hand on his shoulder and he jumps at the sudden contact. He relaxes once he sees it’s you, “(Y/N),” he breathes out, “I thought you were someone else.”
“I can tell,” you murmur, “Are you okay?”
He nods silently; gazing at the headstone once again, “I will be.”
“I can stay with you, if you need me.”
He shakes his head, “Go. Go see your grandfather; tell him hi from me.”
You want to laugh but nothing comes out. Draco looks at you; his blue eyes bright, “I’ll be okay,” he says gently.
The softness of his voice has you stepping away, “You know where I’ll be if you need me.”
Draco nods, hearing you walk away from him.
He’s a man made entirely of conflictions. He watches you from the corner of his eye and wonders whether he is finally ready to start his life again after Astoria; ready press play once more and see what happens but the sheer fear that runs through him, paralyses him.
He doesn’t know what to think; he doesn’t know what to do.
All he knows is that in the handful of times he has seen you, you make him want to live again.
----
Your time with your grandfather comes to an end, and you stand from where you had knelt, murmuring a goodbye.
You can’t miss the way Draco remains in front of his wife’s grave. Standing just after you; stretching out the tight muscles in his back that had stiffened the longer he had sat there.
You sigh at the sight; mindlessly wondering if you would ever find a love that would impact you this much.
It was unintentional; it hadn’t meant to happen but the feelings you once harboured for the Slytherin Prince were returning in full force the more you saw of him.
But now, there was so much more to consider.
At Hogwarts, it was social groups that kept you from ever revealing your crush – that, and Pansy Parkinson. Now, though, Draco was a widower still very much in love with his dead wife, and he had a son that came first.
You know you need to tread carefully, but there was something addicting about the man’s presence. His way with words; his hand gestures; how he’d slip off into his own mind – it all had you caught; you were hook, line, and sinker.
You make your way back to the blonde-haired man, “What do you say to another coffee? I wish I could have stayed longer the last time I saw you, but work, you know?”
Draco nods; looking very much as if he wants to accept – the words being on the very tip of his tongue, but he sighs heavily, “I can’t today, I need to grab my son from my parents.”
“Oh,” You shake your head – of course, “Another time then! I’d like to see you again soon.”
You make to walk away but a hand reaches out and grabs your wrist, “Would you like to come with me? I need to grab Scorpius but we’re making dinner tonight and you’re welcome to join.”
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to intrude.”
“You won’t be. Scorpius has been asking about you.”
That makes your decision for you, “Alright, I’ll join you for dinner.”
Draco smiles; letting go of his hold on your wrist, “I usually apparate to the manor, do you mind?”
You shake your head, placing a gentle hand on his outstretched arm.
Within a second, you’ve landed at the seat of Malfoy power for the last century. Draco was right you realise; Narcissa had lightened the manor up. Flowers border the main path; stemming from Hyacinths to white Lilies, to Irises. Colour lives up the home immediately, and the warm light coming from the masses of windows only makes the place more welcoming.
“I remember visiting here when I was a youngster,” You start, “I remember it being cold and uninviting… no offence, but now it feels so warm and happy.”
“That’s my mother’s influence,” Draco states; smiling wryly at the sight of all the flowers, knowing too well of the masses of Roses behind the manor.
Draco sounds the knocker three times before Narcissa pulls open the door with the smile reserved only for her son. She blinks twice before registering your presence; then she needs to do a double take.
“Afternoon, Mother,” Draco greets; leaning in to kiss her cheek which Narcissa returns distractedly – her eyes still on you.
“Draco, dear,” She greets, “And who have you brought with you?”
“Straight to the crux, aren’t we?” Draco laughs, “This is (Y/N). Surely you remember her?”
“Not Anthony’s granddaughter?”
You nod your head; ignoring the spear of grief flung through you at the sound of your grandfather’s name, “The very same,” you greet, “It’s lovely to be here. I was just mentioning to Draco how gorgeous your flowers are.”
Narcissa beams; her flowers are her pride and joy other than the son who had battled so much and came out the other side only stronger. “Thank you, my dear. Lucius and I were so saddened to hear of Anthony’s passing – tell me, how is your mother doing?”
“Better, thank you. She took his death as a blow – well, we all did but she took it the hardest being the only daughter and losing my grandmother so young.”
Narcissa nods; ushering you into the foyer of the grand manor, “We sent flowers, but we’re sorry we couldn’t make it to the service.”
A lumps forms in your throat at the mention of the service. It had been a beautiful and respectful service, but your memories of it were tied with the heart-clenching sobs of your mother as he cried about how she missed her father. It was a hard day and night for all; very few had dry eyes.
Draco notices your hesitancy at replying to his mother; notices the glazed look in your eye. He wraps his arm around Narcissa’s shoulder, distracting her from asking you any more questions, “How was Scorpius today?”
“Like always, an angel,” Narcissa coos, “Lucius has started to teach him French.”
“French? So early?” Draco asks; keeping a wary eye on you.
“Nonsense, my love. You were three when we started to teach you the basics.”
“You speak French?” You ask; mind now focused back onto the conversation. You shoot a grateful look to draco; he replies with a soft, kind smile.
Narcissa nods, “Most of our family does. Draco has spoken French fluently since he was nine years old.”
“Oui, maman,” Draco responds cheekily.
Narcissa playfully hit her son’s shoulder, “Hush you. Scorpius is with your father in the Library – shall we go grab him?”
Draco nods; desperate to see his son after hours apart, “Are you okay to follow?” he asks, throwing a glance to where you remain rooted.
You shake yourself free; banishing all thoughts of Draco and his speaking of one of the most romantic languages on the planet from your head.
You follow with a sheepish smile, “Definitely. Even I’ve heard tales of Lucius’ library.”
Narcissa chuckles, “He spends more time in there; researching and reading anything.”
“What does he research?” You ask; curiosity piqued.
“Anything – the pagan tribes of the celts at the moment. He’s focused on the history of Wiltshire at the moment; I’ve had stop him twice this week from apparating to Stonehenge and scaring the tourists.”
Draco pauses; falling into step with you as Narcissa opens the library doors, “My father needed something to do after the war; historical research turned out to be his niche.”
“It sounds like he’s having one hell of a time,” You comment; not kissing the grin that stretches across Draco’s face.
“Scorp, darling, your father is here!” Narcissa calls out after not having found her grandson where she had left him with his grandfather.
It’s hard to miss the footfalls of the toddler as he runs through the shelve stacks, crowing, “Dad! You’re back!”
Draco catches Scorpius in his arms, “Hey there, squirt. How was your day?”
“Fun. Grandpa taught me about the selts.”
“Celts, my boy,” Lucius says, appearing from behind one of the many shelves, “A hard C. Celts.”
Scorpius’ eyebrows furrows as he repeats the word again, “Celts.”
Lucius claps, “Excellent! We’ll make a historian of you yet.”
Scorpius beams at the pride rolling off Lucius in waves; he almost doesn’t notice you standing next to Draco.
“(Y/N)!”
“Hi Scorpius,” You greet.
“Why are you here?” He asks.
You laugh at his curiosity, “Your father invited me for tea, is that okay?”
The young boy nods, “We’re having pasta.”
You smile, “I like pasta.”
Scorpius nods again, and just like that, it’s settled.
Draco hitches Scorpius higher onto his hip, “He wasn’t much trouble?”
His question breaks his parents from staring at the exchange between you and Scorpius. Lucius smiles at Draco, “Scorpius is never any trouble.”
“Thank you for looking after him again.”
“It’s no bother to us. We love the boy,” Narcissa comments; blinking away what look to be like tears.
“We’ll see you soon, no doubt,” Draco says, “Say bye to granny and grandpa, squirt.”
Scorpius yells his goodbye with a large smile.
Draco holds his free arm out to you, and the three of you apparate to his home in the next village over.
Draco’s house is nowhere near the size of Malfoy Manor, but it is still large in comparison to the two bedroomed flat you rented in Diagon Alley.
It’s perfectly symmetrical you realise as Draco opens the garden gate. Two windows on either side of the pale green front door. Always a Slytherin, you think as you follow Draco up the main path. He readjusts Scorpius as he reaches for his key; putting Scorpius down as he opens the door.
Scorpius reaches for your hand, “I’ll show you the kitchen,” he states, leading you through the large foyer to a room just to the right.
The kitchen is the biggest one you’ve been in. The island being home to a breakfast bar where Scorpius tries to climb up to before you cave and place him on one of the stools.
Draco follows closely behind; opening the fridge to grab the ingredients for dinner.
You hop off a stool, “What can I do to help?”
Draco pauses, “You need to sit down, I said I was cooking.”
You roll your eyes, “I want to help, so what can I do?”
“Add the pasta to the pot when the water starts to boil. I’ve already salted the water.”
You nod, rolling the sleeves up on your blouse. Draco doesn’t miss the small tattoo on your left forearm, “When did you get that?” he asks as he starts to crush and chop some garlic.
You look down to the now familiar swirling patterns below the crook of your elbow, laughing, “I got it after our Eighth Year. I snuck out to a muggle artist and got it done; mum hit the roof.”
Draco laughs, moving on to slicing the tomatoes in two. You look down at the pot of water, happy to see it boiling. You add the pasta to the pot, stirring twice before stepping away from the pan.
You sit back down at the breakfast bar; ruffling Scorpius’ hair as you do so. The blonde-haired boy giggles, “Can I see your arm?”
You glance at Draco to check that he’s okay with Scorpius seeing your tattoo. Draco nods and you hold out your arm for Scorpius to gaze at your tattoo.
He reaches out a small finger, running it over the ink gently, “Did it hurt?”
You shake your head, “Not a bit.”
“Dad has a tattoo.”
You stiffen at his words; so does Draco.
The Dark Mark that mars Draco’s arm wasn’t spoken about when it was placed on his forearm, and it wasn’t spoken about now. It has been years since the Dark Lord was vanquished by Harry Potter yet his mark upon the house of Malfoy had definitely been left.
“It’s pale but I’ve seen it.”
Draco clears his throat, saying somewhat brokenly, “Dinner is almost ready. Go clean up, squirt.”
You help Scorpius down from the stool; grinning as he rushes away to the downstairs bathroom to wash his hands before dinner.
As soon as he’s left, you turn your attention back to Draco who’s stirring the pan of pasta quietly, “I’m sorry, Draco.”
“For what?” He asks incredulously.
“For showing him my tattoo. I didn’t think he would bring up yours.”
Draco shrugs, “It’s okay. I’ve learned to live with it, and like squirt said, it’s pretty faded now.”
You nod, “I’m glad. Where do you keep your plates? I’ll grab them for you.”
“Second cupboard on from the fridge. There’s a small plastic one for Scorpius there too.”
You grab the three plates, wandering back to where Draco is adding the pasta to the sauce simmering away in the pan. Scorpius rushes back into the kitchen, taking a seat at the table by the window.
“Show us your hands, squirt. Are they clean?”
Scorpius holds his hands up, waving them at his father. Draco squints, pretending to look over his son’s hands with extra care, “Very good. Are you ready to eat?”
“Yes!” Scorpius shouts, legs kicking under the table.
Draco laughs, “Well it’s a good thing it’s ready then!”
Draco takes over yours and Scorpius’ plates first before grabbing his and the cutlery. He cuts up Scorpius’ pasta before settling in his own seat and starting to eat.
“This is so tasty,” You compliment, “One of the best meals I’ve had.”
Scorpius nods rapidly, working through his own mouthful before saying, “Dad is the best cook! You should try his pancakes!”
“Thanks, squirt,” Draco replies, smiling at him.
“I’ll have to try those pancakes one day,” You murmur, casting a side glance at the blonde-haired man sat to your left.
“I think you will,” He replies, effectively knocking the breath out of you.
Of course, you would rekindle feelings for your teenage crush when he’s now a widow and a father. You wanted to roll your eyes, but instead, you focus your gaze back to your meal.
The dinner is soon over, and the plates are cleared away to the sink where they’ll be washed after dessert.
Dessert is a slice of chocolate cake and ice cream; a treat from Narcissa. Scorpius makes as much conversation as he can; telling his father and you about the day he had at his grandparents where he learnt about the mystical celts and Stonehenge. Soon, though, his eyes start to droop and his final spoonful of cake clatters to the plate.
Draco scoops up his son; cradling in his arms as he once did those years ago. Draco murmurs an apology to you as he carries his son from the kitchen to his room,  but you wave him away.
To help, you collect the plates and start running the hot water, adding dish soap as you go. You’re almost finished with the final plate when Draco returns from putting Scorpius to bed.
“You didn’t need to do that.”
You shrug, “I don’t mind – it makes me feel useful.”
“Alright. You washed, I’ll dry,” Draco bargains; grabbing the tea towel from the counter and picking up the first plate.
“Did he fall asleep okay?” You question.
Draco nods, “Out like a light, I had put his pyjamas on for him.”
You chuckle, “Bless him.”
“He really likes you,” Draco comments.
“Well, what’s not to like?” You quip, grinning, “I really like him too. He’s a credit to you, Draco.”
Draco finishes drying the final plate; putting them back in their assigned cupboard.
“Thank you. Would you like a drink, or do you need to be at work early?”
“I do, but I’d like that drink.”
Draco pulls two glasses from the display before reaching for a bottle of red wine. You already knew that you would wake up tomorrow with a headache, but it was worth it to spend more time with him.
Draco pours two glasses before handing one to you. He grabs the bottle and his glass, leading you to the living room across the foyer.
You take a seat on the maroon couch, taking a drink of wine before placing the glass on a coaster.
“Thank you for the meal. It was delicious. Where did you learn to cook like that?”
“That is all part of Narcissa Malfoy’s rearing of a good husband. She started teaching me to cook before I left for Hogwarts and would give me lessons every school holiday.”
“Well, you’re very good. I’ll be thinking of that pasta for days.”
Draco smiles at you from over the rim of his wine glass and your stomach flips.
“Why did you tell your mother that it was just dinner?” You question, referring to the incident earlier at Malfoy Manor. You take another sip of wine, watching Draco the whole time.
“Mother has it in her mind that it’s time for me to find someone new. She worries that I’ve been alone too long,” Draco drawls wryly.
“What do you think?”
Draco swishes the remaining wine in his glass; reaching for the bottle to refill.
“I don’t know,” is his answer as he tops off your glass too.
“Are you lonely?”
“You really are a journalist, aren’t you?” He teases.
You roll your eyes, smiling, “Are you though? Lonely?”
Draco locks eyes with you; the answer is on the tip of his tongue, ready to make its entrance but he’s interrupted by the cry of his son.
Wine glasses are placed hurriedly as you both rush to the young boy’s room; his cries getting louder.
The both of you fall into the room in a hurry; desperate to help Scorpius. Draco shakes his shoulders, bringing him back to reality.
“Scorpius, Scorpius – it’s okay, open your eyes.”
“Dad?” Scorpius asks; his voice a sob.
“It’s me, squirt. I’m here.”
Scorpius opens his arms for his father. Draco picks him up with no hesitation; cuddling his son to his side – drying his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt.
“It sounded like a bad one,” Draco comments.
Scorpius nods, “I don’t want to go back to sleep, I’m scared.”
Draco looks torn in two. On the one hand, Scorpius needs to sleep otherwise he’ll be as cranky as a Hungarian Horntail tomorrow. However, on the other hand, Draco won’t force Scorpius back into another nightmare by insisting he sleep.”
You step forward, perching on the end of Scorpius’ bed, “I have an idea, but you need to be all comfortable and cosy, okay?”
Scorpius nods timidly; rearranging himself against Draco’s side, cuddling his beloved teddy tighter.
“Are you cosy?”
He nods once more.
“Okay, I’ll begin: Once upon a time in a far off land there lived a king who was very lonely. He had tried for years and years to meet the love of his life, but he felt defeated for he hadn’t found the one…”
It takes over an hour – three stories and two muggle songs before Scorpius is soundly sleeping once again.
Draco shifts him with the expertise of a parent before leaving his bedroom with you in tow.
He goes to close the door, but you place a hand on his wrist, stopping him. “Leave it open two,” you start, “the light from the landing will comfort him a little if he has another nightmare.”
Draco leaves the door open a crack. Turning to you, he says, “I don’t know why I never thought of that.”
You shrug, “It’s something my mum used to do for me.”
“You were incredible in there by the way,” Draco compliments as you descend the stairs together.
“Thank you,” You murmur shyly.
“Where did you learn those stories and songs?” He asks, “I feel like I should take notes for next time,” he chuckles half-heartedly.
You laugh too, “The stories I made up years ago and the songs are muggle ones I heard on my travels. I used to babysit my younger cousins for extra pocket money – I got to be creative very quickly.”
“Well it paid off,” Draco comments, eyes flickering to the stairs.
“It certainly did,” You murmur; eyes following Draco’s.
It’s silent for a few moments; the both of you thinking of the other without the other knowing. You, terrified to tell him for the fear of rejection. Him, terrified about letting down his dead wife.
You both go to speak at the same time and promptly burst into quiet laughter.
Through the span of the conversation, you’ve gravitated towards Draco – bodies angled towards each other, hands close to touching, heads close together.
If you leaned forward an inch, your mouth would be on his.
The alcohol coursing through your veins makes the connection for you as in the next second, you’ve leant forward and attached your lips to Draco’s.
He doesn’t respond at first; too in shock by your boldness but when you’re about to pull away, he wraps a hand in your hair, keeping your mouth pressed to his. Lips glide together seamlessly. He bites down on your lower lip, making you gasp. He deepens the kiss then; shifting on the couch to press you further into it.
Your hand make their way into his hair, and Draco groans against your mouth at the feel.
But it’s all too much and you need to pull away.
Chest heaving, you drag your mouth away from Draco’s. He nuzzles his nose into your cheek, pressing little kisses across your jawline to your ear before sitting back up.
“I didn’t expect that,” You gasp.
“Neither did I, but I’m not mad about it.”
“You aren’t? I did just jump you.”
Draco laughs, “It would have happened sooner or later.”
“Really?” You ask; a note of happiness unmistakable in your voice.
Draco nods, running his thumb across your lips, relishing in the fact that they’re swollen because of him.
The wine has gone to your head, and you feel your eyes begin to droop before the first yawn hits. You sigh, pulling away from Draco’s distracting touch, “I think I better head off.”
“Are you sure? You don’t have to leave.”
“Why, do you want me to stay, Draco?” You tease.
He nods, “I can’t offer much, but this couch is really comfy.”
“And where will you be sleeping?” You ask; the wine making you more brash.
Draco blushes. You take back your words, “I’m sorry, Draco. Red wine goes straight to my head.”
“Don’t be, it’s okay.”
“No, it isn’t. I just propositioned you and all we’ve done is kiss,” You groan, dropping your head into your hands.
Draco pulls your hands away from your face, “(Y/N), it’s fine, really. The blanket on the back of the couch is really warm; grab it will you?”
You feel your face heat as you reach for the large grey blanket draped over the back of the couch. Draco stands momentarily to toe off his shoes before settling back down on the couch. You slip off your own shoes before clambering onto the couch next to him.
This was all so intimate.
Draco throws the large blanket over you both. Once suitably covered, his arm slips around your waist and your hand rests on his chest.
Neither of you say anything. No words need to be spoken now; everything expressed through actions alone.
With a kiss to the top of your head, Draco falls asleep unafraid of what he’ll meet in the morning.
--------
It’s the sunlight that wakes you. Bright light warming your face; you flutter your eyes open to find you face to face with Draco’s chest. Neither of you had moved in night; if anything, becoming closer together. At some point, his legs had tangled with yours and your hand had gripped his shirt so tight, it came away wrinkled when you loosened your grip.
You sigh happily; then you glance at the clock on the mantle piece where the hands make it abundantly clear that you were going to be late for work.
Extracting yourself carefully from Draco’s hold, you pick up your shoes from the floor. You search quickly for a spare piece of paper and a pen; scrawling a note for Draco to read when he wakes.
With one last look at the man you had fallen for in such a short amount of time, you apparated away.
-----
Draco wakes not long after you leave; feeling oddly light without the weight of your body pressed up against him. He frowns when he realises that you’ve left without a goodbye but with a glance at the clock, he doesn’t have much time to worry about it.
Scorpius would be awake any minute and demanding breakfast.
Draco sits up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. It had been so long since he had slept with someone by his side; wrapped around him the way you were, and he was happy to admit, he had missed the feeling of another human pressed so tightly against him, he could feel every contour in their body.
He almost falls off the couch when he notices your note lying on the table. He grabs it with shaking hands:
“Had to go to work – meet me for lunch if you can? Thank you for last night. You still owe me pancakes – (Y/N).”
He feels like a teenager again experiencing the rush of his first crush. He runs a hand across his face; standing up to get a start on breakfast. He folds your note in two before sliding it into his wallet for safekeeping.
It’s then that Draco realises he has two things he needs to do.
-----
Draco drops Scorpius off at Astoria’s parents for the morning. Apologising to his son for bailing on their plans of the park and the library; Scorpius simply pats his father’s face in goodbye before running to his grandma and grandad Greengrass.
Draco waves at his in-laws before apparating to see their daughter.
-----
The graveyard looks entirely different, but Draco knows nothing has changed. What has changed is him, and he need to tell Astoria.
Kneeling in his usual place in front of her grave, Draco releases a shaky breath.
“Hi darling, I know I’m early for our visit, but I have something important to discuss with you,” He looks down at his hands before continuing, “I think I’ve met someone, and I really want to pursue it. I want to see where it goes.
“You have to understand, darling, I never thought I would love again after you. I really didn’t and for three years, I’ve been an island with just enough room for Scorpius. I didn’t expect it, but it happened, and I like the way (Y/N) makes me feel. I feel excited again; my hands are shaking from the very thought.
“Scorpius likes her by the way, and she likes him, but they both know they won’t ever fill the role that you were supposed to. And I think they’re both happy with that knowledge.
“I’m not asking for your permission, but I am asking for your forgiveness. For not loving you harder; for not taking more time to be with you; for not apologising immediately after every argument. But I’m ready to start living again and I’ve found someone that makes me want to live again; that incites that spark of life within me, and I desperately want to see where it goes.
“I haven’t seen you in a while; around the house. I think you realised what was happening before I did and finally made your peace with it. I can’t ever forget you and our time. I see whenever I look at our little boy, but I’m ready to begin again, and so I shall.”
Draco stands from the grave feeling as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He had to speak to Astoria before he could speak to you; he had tell her his choice but to reassure that he would always love her, but his heart was ready to make room for another person.
And that person was you.
With one last glance at the marble headstone, Draco apparates to Diagon Alley.
----------
The offices to the Daily Prophet newspaper lie in a side street just off the high street. He signs in at reception but asks the receptionist not to alert you of his presence. The receptionist flushes when she realises that she’s now part of a romantic plot. Draco smiles at her gratefully as he makes his way to the main lift, asking for your floor.
He taps his foot the entire ride up to your floor, annoying every single person in the lift with him. But he can’t help it; he’s both excited and nervous.
In a few moments, he’s changing the direction of his life forever, and he couldn’t feel more ready to start.
The door opens on your floor and Draco rushes out, followed by the happy sighs of those journeying to higher floors. He wants to laugh at their reactions, but the butterflies rioting in his stomach make him feel as if he could vomit right on the muddy brown carpet.
It’s not hard to find which desk is yours by the amount of trinkets on there. Files are precariously high in one section, and then the rest of the desk bar the cream typewriter is covered by snow globes and tiny figurines of landmarks from your travels. From this first look at your desk, Draco already has a sense of what your flat will look like.
You gasp when you see Draco standing in the door to your office, “Draco, you’re early for lunch.”
Draco walks up to your desk; his hands shaking through it all, “Let me make you pancakes.”
“What?” You ask, breathless.
“Let me make you pancakes,” He repeats, “I want to make you pancakes in the morning.”
“Really?” You sniffle; tears collecting.
Draco nods, “I’m still grieving, but I always will be. However, that doesn’t mean my life needs to come to an end and I realised that I want it to continue with you by my side so… let me make you pancakes every morning.”
Tears have started to fall down your face and you sniffle before speaking, “Okay. You can make me pancakes.”
Draco beams; eyes crinkling. He leans in close to you, whispering, “Do you think you can get off early?”
You grab your bag before he finishes his sentence, “Let’s get out of here.”
Draco holds his hand out for you to take. At the feel of your skin against his, a jolt of electricity runs between you. It takes everything in him not to drag you into a kiss in the foyer of the building.
He waits until he’s in the street.
Like a gentleman.
He waits until the coast is somewhat clear before pulling you into his side and drawing your mouth to his like you did last night. Your arms wrap around his neck, bringing him closer to you.
It’s not your first kiss, and it won’t be your last, but this one kiss means the world to the both of you.
Through it all, you’ve learnt to swim.
-------
A year later:
Scorpius is almost five years old when he visits his mother’s grave for the first time in his life. He had been less than three weeks old when she was buried in the Greengrass plot
Scorpius watches as his father kneels before her first; apologising for his absence and asking for her forgiveness.
But then he looks to Scorpius; where he stands with his hand holding onto yours tightly.
Draco beckons to Scorpius with an open hand. Scorpius staggers to his father’s side immediately.
“Hi Mum,” he whispers.
Draco’s hand is firm on his son’s shoulders; a comforting presence.
“I miss you,” he starts, “I know I never got to know you, but I miss you. I have your picture in my room, so I know what you look like, and Wellesley. I’m starting school soon; a small magic school with kids like me and I’m really excited. Dad’s doing well. He was sad for a while but he’s happier now and he talks about you more with (Y/N) who I like too. I want to come back, and I think Dad will let me, so I’ll see you soon, Mum.”
And with that, Scorpius walks away, happy to have finally met the mother had wanted to meet for so long.
Draco watches his son potter back to the still creaky gate in awe. You join his side; fingers tangling in his. “How are you feeling?” You ask, watching Draco’s face.
“Happy and in love,” is Draco’s reply.

whipped up this little gallavich father’s day one-shot bc i woke up and had feelings!
(to everyone who has a complicated relationship to father’s day—know that i love u 💗)
tw for mention of dead parents / abuse (terry 🙄🙄)
***
It was quiet when they woke— it had been months, and Mickey could finally admit that he had gotten a little bit used to waking up to the silence and blinding sunshine, the light reflecting off of the shiny glass exterior of their neighbors’ apartment complex windows and the soft chatter of people sitting down below at the pool as the slow summer mornings turned into lazy afternoons.
He turned to face Ian, shifting under the plush duvet they were wrapped in tightly; usually summer heat meant sleeping in underwear and a pool of your own fucking sweat in the South Side, but this boujee-ass place had fucking air conditioning that blasted all night long— Mickey nearly wore a fucking sweats and a hoodie to bed the first hot summer day when they’d started blasting it in the place. Ian had just grinned, making fun of him for being dressed like he was about to climb Mount Everest, and had pulled him closer under the sheets to wrap him in warmth.
Mickey rubbed at his eyes, reaching for his phone and clicking it to see the time. 7:52, the asscrack of dawn on a Sunday morning as far as he was concerned. No wonder Ian was still sleeping.
He had a couple of notifications— a few texts from Sandy, livetweeting when she was out last night and probably drunk out of her mind at some gay bar she’d started going to on the West Side at Ian’s recommendation; while Mickey had resisted those expensive-ass hipster beers at every fucking turn, Sandy had been coming by his and Ian’s place a lot more these days, and Ian had kept convincing them to all go out at the boujee queer spots along the block. Whatever— so what if he blew $9 on a fucking IPA that tasted like fucking battery acid? Ian loved it, Sandy loved it more, and he could afford to spend a few nights at some hipster-ass bar with his cousin and his husband hanging off his hip. He could do that shit now.
He scrolled through some emails, trying desperately to tune out the work bullshit and ignore the unread emails in his inbox— he and Ian had been making bank lately, the business growing more than ever especially now that COVID restrictions were all but nonexistent and people were ready to fucking party. He and Ian definitely spent more hours than not attached to their fucking Gmail app, scrolling through new requests and niche demands from growers; but they’d agreed that weekends were off-time, and talking about work was strictly forbidden. “Weekends are husband time, not co-worker time, Mick.”
Even so, Ian was still sleeping, and Mickey didn’t know what else the fuck to do until he woke up— he filtered idly through the inbox, then opened Instagram and started scrolling mindlessly, through pictures of his few dipshit cousins and their new gun purchases and questionable tattoo choices.
It was then when he saw the picture that V had just posted: a black-and-white photo of Kev and the girls, sitting at some sidewalk restaurant in Louisville.
To the papa bear of my amazing girls. Happy Father’s Day.
Fucking Father’s Day.
It’s not like Mickey didn’t know when Father’s Day was— it was more that its occurrence was knowledge that he passively avoided. The only time he remembered knowing when the fuck it was was in elementary school, when they’d been forced to draw colorful cards for their dads on thick sheets of construction paper. He’d drawn a fucking cool one for Terry, with scribbles of skulls and snakes and a picture of him and Mandy. He remembered clutching it tight between his fingers the walk home from school that Friday, and immediately shoving it deep into his backpack when he returned home and it was one of the bad days, the days filled with screaming and sobbing and him and Mandy huddled together in his bed.
“Hey, you okay?” Ian’s arm was snaking around Mickey’s waist under the blankets—a heavy weight, welcoming the air back into Mickey’s lungs.
Mickey reached over to ruffle Ian’s hair. “G’morning, sleepyface.”
Ian’s eyes searched Mickey’s face, then squeezed tightly shut as he yawned. He leaned to rest his head on Mickey’s shoulder, a dull weight on his chest.
“You know it’s Father’s Day?”
Ian craned his neck back again to meet Mickey’s eyes. “Huh.”
From his pensive gaze, Mickey could tell that the realization stunned Ian in the same way it had hit him. “Yup.”
They were silent. Ian reached his arm aimlessly under the covers, searching for Mickey’s hand— intertwining their fingers.
“It’s fucking weird, man.”
Ian breathed out a silent laugh of relief, a gust of air through his nose. “Was just thinking the same fucking thing. I could hate Frank on Father’s Day when he was alive, talk all the shit I wanted— seems kind of hard to do now that’s he’s gone.”
Mickey pressed his lips together. “Yeah.” The heavy feeling—the loss, the dread, was still heavy in his chest, beating next to where Ian’s head was resting. “Homophobic that this shit is during pride month, anyways. Don’t they know all the gays have fucking daddy issues?”
Ian snorted—and they laid there, breathing. Ian’s thumb started to trace a pattern on Mickey’s inner palm— soft, slow. “What d’you wanna do today?”
“I don’t know, man. A distraction would be nice. Can’t fucking scroll through Instagram without thinking about my dead dad, kind of a fucking mood kill.”
Ian laughed. “Yeah.” He took in a breath. And then:
“I know I keep talking about the kid shit. But I can’t stop thinking about when today will be, like. Exciting for us. Someday. Y’know?”
Mickey felt something lurch in his chest—he didn’t really know what it was. He and Ian had been talking about the kid thing— Ian dropping hints here and there, Mickey giving his wary consent that he’d tell Ian when he was ready. And now—this.
There was gonna be a day, some day—when Father’s Day didn’t feel like the hardest goddamn thing in the world anymore. Even after a lifetime of bad ones.
Mickey felt the beginning of tears pricking in his eyes—stupid, stupid.
“Yeah, man. Guess so.”

Rowan’s eyes drooped as he walked into his home after a long day of work, desperately needing a nap on his lumpy couch. He set out to make some coffee for later tonight, knowing that he’d have to stay up again to finish another project for his summer class.
Rowan probably shouldn’t have procrastinated his assignment in order to spend time with Aelin at the carnival earlier this week, but he’d rather that than have Aelin spend time alone with Chaol. Just the thought of his name made Rowan scoff.
After being friends for a couple of months, Chaol had recently become Aelin’s new summer fling. Rowan always knew he’d had ulterior motives, but when the idea was brought up to Aelin, she’d laughed and said, “If anyone here had ulterior motives, it’d be me.” Rowan had no clue as to what Aelin was talking about, but she’d insisted that it was only a one-time thing and so far, had been determined to keep a buffer between them, which meant that Rowan had to accompany them on every single “date.”
Despite grumbling the whole time to Aelin at the carnival, Rowan had to admit feeling satisfaction after shoving the ice cream into Chaol’s face in order to prevent him from kissing Aelin. While Aelin looked amused during the whole ordeal, Chaol looked the exact opposite with a scrunched up mouth and furrowed brows. Rowan thought he looked constipated.
Maybe, he was. Rowan shook his head, no no, he was definitely angry.
Rowan smiled to himself as he poured boiling water into the coffee strainer over his mug. Letting it sit when he finished, he walked over to his couch and laid down, allowing his body to rest after hours of exhaustion. His eyes drifted closed as he thought back to Aelin’s situation with Chaol.
Rowan didn’t understand why Aelin wouldn’t just break up with him if she didn’t like him at all. Hell, he doesn’t even understand the reason why she does half the things she does, her mind truly baffles him. He wouldn’t trade her for the universe though, not for anything. Every single part of Aelin fuses to create the most amazing person Rowan’s ever met; Rowan adored everything about her—her witty remarks, her melodious laughter, her long golden hair, her beautiful turquoise eyes with a ring of gold, her bizzare and wicked humor, just about everything.
Gods, don’t even get Rowan started on her smile. Rowan fucking loves her smile. He would do anything in the world for her face to brighten with that glorious smile of hers. It’s the first thing he thinks of in the morning and the last before he goes to bed. Just thinking about her can light up his mood and make him smile.
Settling into the couch even more, Rowan drifted off to sleep with a smile on his face and his mind stuck on Aelin.
~
Rowan woke up with a start, accidentally jerking the dead weight on his arm. He felt warm breaths puff against his chest as he looked down at the culprit of his numb arm. Aelin lay in his arms, halfway on top of him, with her arm thrown across his waist and her legs entwined with his. Rowan smiled as he looked at her slightly open mouth and her golden blonde hair cascading down the edge of the couch.
Rowan had to get started on his project soon and he had his coffee waiting for him, but he couldn’t even move with Aelin lying on top of him, not that he wanted to anyway. So, giving in to this small defeat, Rowan stroked Aelin’s hair as he thought about his dream.
Rowan woke up to a smattering of kisses across his face and the loud giggling of a toddler, followed by quiet laughter. He felt a slight weight on his chest and small hands grabbing at the skin on his face. Opening his eyes, Rowan was met with striking cerulean blue eyes and a head of silver hair.
“Hey, papa!” The toddler grinned at Rowan, eliciting a smile from him.
“Hey, baby,” Rowan grabbed the toddler’s head and placed a loud smacking kiss on her forehead, evoking even more giggles from the kid.
He noticed Aelin drifting closer, hands cradling her swollen belly. “Alaïa wanted to wake you for breakfast. It only seemed fair to have her loudly slobbering all over you as your wake-up call since we all woke up early to make breakfast,” Aelin smiled as she spoke, her face glowing with happiness and amusement.
As Aelin sat on the edge of the bed, next to Rowan’s arm, she leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips. Leaning in towards his ear, Aelin whispered, “Hurry up and get your spectacular ass downstairs before all the food is gone.” Aelin gathered Alaïa into her arms before leaving the bedroom.
By the time Rowan was downstairs, breakfast was in full swing. Instead of going to the dining table, Rowan stayed standing at the foot of the stairs, observing his family. A girl—with the same golden hair as Aelin and the same pine green eyes as Rowan—ate quietly with her shoulders back and her head held high. The boy across from her—with Aelin’s eyes and a head full of silver hair—smiled at his younger brother who was struggling with getting the food onto his spoon. The younger boy looked exactly like Rowan, as if someone made a clone of him with his hair.
Alaïa was a sight to behold. With food on her face and clothes, she looked to be having trouble maneuvering the food to her mouth with her spoon, accidentally flinging it into her silver hair instead. She seemed to be on the verge of tears from frustration, but with one quiet laugh from Aelin, Alaïa peered over at the smiling Aelin and gave a little giggle.
Aelin glanced up at Rowan in that moment and opened her mouth to say, “Da—”
A small noise of content broke Rowan out of his reverie. Rowan looked down and noticed that he’s still stroking Aelin’s hair as she nuzzles her head further into his hands. A small smile graced Aelin’s face, making her appear peaceful. Watching Aelin sleep made Rowan smile; he could watch her do anything and never get bored because he was just so enamored by her.
Rowan jerked to a stop. Enamored? His brows furrowed in confusion as he thought back to Aelin. Rowan does not believe he can live his life without Aelin in it; he doesn’t even want to think about the prospect of it.
As a groan broke out of Aelin’s lips, she snuggled closer to Rowan. He watched as her eyes fluttered open and she took in her surroundings before smiling up at him. It was the sight of that smile that made Rowan realize the truth of why he’d felt so satisfied upon smashing that ice cream cone into Chaol’s face and why his heart beat a bit faster whenever Aelin’s attention was on him. Just like it was now.
“Hi,” she croaked, voice still hoarse from sleep.
Rowan smiled, “Hi.” He looked around before looking back down at Aelin, “So, how’d you get in here?”
Her brows furrowed in confusion before she quickly snapped her fingers. “I broke in by using a rock to smash your windows,” Aelin grinned. Rowan felt blood draining from his face at her answer.
“WHAT?!” Rowan sprung up from the couch and walked to his front windows. Knowing Aelin, that couldn’t be exaggerated and didn’t sound like it’d be far from the truth. However, as he got to the curtains, he heard quiet giggles and turned around in time to hear them turn into loud cackles of laughter.
“Calm down, Buzzard. I was only kidding. I snuck into your backyard and used the key you hid in your shed by breaking down the shed door.” Aelin rolled her eyes at his exasperated expression, “Oh, don’t be so dramatic, you told me where you hid the spare key when you were confessing secrets while drunk off your ass,” Aelin waved a hand.
Rowan was never so mortified before. Secrets? Not just one, but more?!
Aelin must’ve seen the mortification written on his face because why else would she bellow with laughter like she was right now. Rowan just shook his head as he walked into his kitchen and grabbed his mug of coffee.
By the time he got back, Aelin was scowling at her phone.
“What’s wrong?” Rowan asked as he sat back on his couch and took a sip of his coffee. Aelin only groaned before throwing her hands up in the air and kicking her feet like a petulant child, causing Rowan to chuckle at Aelin’s antics.
“Chaol wants to go on another date,” Aelin frowned. “He’s insistent on continuing to meet up until he has to go back to Rifthold by the end of the summer.”
Rowan couldn’t help but frown along with Aelin. “I don’t understand why you won’t just call it quits. You obviously don’t like spending time with him.”
Aelin rolled her eyes in return. “I find his company companionable and I want to keep having him in my life.” Aelin sighed, “Anyway, can you please join us? He wants to have a picnic on the beach this Friday.”
Rowan thought about seeing half-naked Chaol and his grabby hands around half-naked Aelin on the beach and grimaced. He did not like the idea of seeing Chaol around Aelin at all, let alone a half-naked Aelin, so Rowan definitely had to go.
Rowan sighed as he ran his hand over his face, “I’ll go.”
“Really?” Aelin beamed. At Rowan’s slight nod, Aelin shifted on the couch and squeezed Rowan tight around the waist. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!” She murmured into his chest. Rowan wrapped his arms around her frame and squeezed her back. Rowan could definitely get used to this. Aelin pulled back a second later and stood up from the couch. “Okay, I’ve got to head home and feed fleetfoot now,” Aelin smiled, “Thanks for the amazing power nap.”
“Break in again anytime,” Rowan smiled as he heard her chuckle.
“Yeah, yeah, Buzzard.” Aelin waved goodbye before leaving the living room and closing the front door behind her.
Upon hearing Aelin leave his home, Rowan thought back to his revelation earlier today. Rowan Whitethorn was in love with his best friend and she didn’t even know it. He was screwed. He was so irrevocably screwed and he had no clue as to how he’d get himself out of this mess.
~
Rowan was fuming. He swore that steam was blowing out of his nose and ears like those cartoon characters. Aelin had given him a popsicle to “cool off” and right now, Rowan felt like a petulant child at the beach.
The whole day, Rowan’s been doing his damn best to block Chaol from Aelin, but it seemed like Chaol caught onto his game and is now quicker with his actions. Aelin hasn’t been helping either. Not with the way she’s voluntarily playing in the water with Chaol right now in her show-stopping black bikini with embroidered little golden dragons.
Earlier, Chaol offered to put sunscreen on Aelin’s body for her. Before Rowan could beat him to it, Chaol had already started applying the cream to her long tan legs. Aelin didn’t even protest, but she didn’t miss the sharp glare Rowan sent Chaol’s way, silently laughing at Rowan.
It certainly didn’t help when Chaol was applying the sunscreen slowly, as if trying to memorize the feel of her skin. And instead of quickly stopping Chaol, Aelin keenly kept an eye on Rowan, an amused look on her face as she caught the narrowing of his eyes.
A while later, they played in the sand together like two toddlers on a date. Aelin giggled the whole time as she buried Chaol in the sand and created a mermaid body for him. Rowan figured she needed help getting sand so he repeatedly kicked sand towards Chaol from where he sat on his beach chair. A lot of the sand landed on Chaol’s face, which earned him a shout and glare from Chaol, but it wasn’t Rowan’s fault that the sand landed on his face when Rowan aimed it towards his neck.
Totally not his fault. Must’ve been the wind.
Aelin seemed to be amused by the whole ordeal, if the twinkle in her eyes and the giant smile spread on her face were anything to go by.
The rest of the day seemed like it was “Ignore Rowan Time” because they both ignored Rowan and kept to each other. They went to buy popsicles together and deserted Rowan at the beach. They reappeared about twenty minutes later, only to desert him again to go into the water. Rowan had enough of it.
Now, Rowan watched from afar as Chaol put his slimy hands all over Aelin, carrying her onto his shoulders and dropping her into the water. Sighing in frustration, Rowan angrily bit down a big bite of the popsicle before throwing the rest into the trash can a few feet away.
Grumbling the whole way, Rowan walked down towards the water, looking for ways to easily throw Chaol into it. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Aelin spin towards him, smiling as she looked at him. Rowan returned a small smile, hoping it didn’t look like a grimace.
As Rowan crept towards Chaol, he kept eye contact with Aelin, conveying his plans to her through the movement of his eyes. Aelin’s face shone with amusement as her eyes held a mischievous gleam. Chaol, noticing something amiss and Aelin’s wandering eyes, turned just in time to be tackled into the water by Rowan’s broad shoulders.
Aelin cackled as Chaol’s arms flailed above the water, paying no attention to Rowan as he stalked toward her. It was already too late by the time Aelin felt herself get lifted by Rowan’s hands.
“Don’t you dare, Buzzard,” Aelin warned as she repeatedly slapped Rowan’s bare back. Rowan only slapped her butt in return, to which Aelin quickly gasped, “Rowan Whitethorn! You did not jus—”
Aelin was thrown into the water before she could even finish her sentence. Rowan watched in amusement as Aelin’s arms flailed before she pulled herself above water, spitting a mouthful of salty water at Rowan’s chest. Wiping the water from her face, Aelin glared at Rowan before running as best she could in water and trying to tackle Rowan. Rowan was immovable, but he grabbed her around the waist and fell backwards into the water anyway, pulling Aelin with him.
Up above the water again, Aelin glared at him and huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest, Rowan’s arms still encasing her to his body. Rowan’s chuckle reverberated through Aelin’s body from where their bodies were touching.
The sun was setting, creating beautiful hues of pinks and oranges that reflected off of the many white fluffy clouds in the sky. Seeing Aelin bathed in that light was surreal. The ring of gold in her beautiful turquoise eyes, eyes that Rowan loves, more accentuated in the golden sunlight. Her golden hair glowing as if it was on fire. Aelin looked stunning.
Aelin grinned as Rowan’s hand flattened against her waist, his fingers contracting as if debating letting her go. Rowan noticed Aelin’s hand lifting to cup his face. Her hand was warm, as though the warmth of the sun she personified extended to her fingertips.
Rowan stared into her deep questioning gaze, eyes inquisitive as if waiting for him to do something. Rowan could only stare as she carefully stroked her thumb across his cheekbone, her hands slick with the beach water.
His eyes locked onto hers as she lifted her other hand to his face, her fingers tracing the lines of the tattoo along his temple. Rowan’s breathing turned ragged as he was reminded of the day’s events: how he was constantly left behind to watch over their things, how he was left out of the activities Aelin and Chaol had chosen to do, and how utterly frustrated and defeated he’d felt when Aelin didn’t try to avoid Chaol’s advances on her.
“Rowan,” Aelin breathed as her fingers slid down the side of his tattooed cheek, reminding Rowan of the way she’d touched Chaol today and how she’d allowed that touch to be reciprocated.
He quickly yanked both wrists off his face. He didn’t want her to touch him when she was fawning over some other man. He dropped her hands and stepped back, staring at her as she briefly closed her eyes in hurt.
“Don’t do that,” Rowan rasped, “Don’t—touch me like that.”
Aelin swallowed, her face burning red, “I’m sorry.” She backed away a step. “I’m sorry,” she repeated. “It was nothing.”
Rowan’s eyes shuttered, “Good.” The word repeated in his head. “Fine.”
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
Rowan kept a neutral face as he stalked away, trying not to look like a wounded puppy. He quickly toweled himself off before gathering his things and leaving the beach without Aelin in tow.
~
Rowan didn’t know why he was here. He’d definitely ruined things between him and Aelin if the hurt on her face was anything to go by. But, Rowan couldn’t go to sleep knowing that he’d done something that hurt Aelin. He’d lied in his bed, staring at his ceiling before deciding to just go apologize to her. He didn’t look at the time at all, just put on some clothes and left his house. He didn’t take his phone, didn’t take anything but the keys in his hands.
Now, Rowan was staring at a small two-story cream-colored house. Kingsflame flowers lined either side of the short path leading to the front door. Aelin’s favorite flowers.
“Fuck,” Rowan sighed. He shook his head as he slowly brought it to lean against his car horn. “I should’ve gotten her flowers.” He glanced at the clock to see if there’d be a possibility for him to make a quick trip to the flower shop. 2:48, the clock read.
The flower shop wouldn’t even be open at this time.
Rowan sighed as he quietly got out of his car and made his way up to Aelin’s door, dread pooling in his stomach at the idea of Aelin ignoring him completely. As Rowan waited after ringing the doorbell, he took note of the light ballad coming out of Aelin’s small home, the sorrowful melody hitting him in the chest. Aelin only ever listened to that type of music when she was feeling heartbroken and Rowan was hurt knowing that he’d been the one to cause that pain.
He rang the doorbell another time before deciding that she probably couldn’t hear if her music could be heard from outside. Sighing, Rowan pulled out his phone and called her, hearing the music pause for the duration of an unanswered call, and waited until the call went to voicemail before he reluctantly walked to the fourth kingsflame flower from her front door.
Rowan, then, got onto his knees and dug out dirt until he was met with Aelin’s spare key, which was only supposed to be used in dire emergencies.
Oh, this was very dire.
Grimacing at his dirty hands, Rowan walked back towards the front door and opened it before getting inside. Rowan threw the spare key onto the counter before rinsing his hands and hightailing towards Aelin’s bedroom.
Slamming open the French doors, Rowan’s eyes frantically searched for Aelin, finding the woman standing at the threshold of her connected bathroom in nothing but a blue towel wrapped around her lithe frame.
Shocked still, Aelin stood with wide, puffy, red eyes and a frown marring her beautiful face. Rowan knew she’d taken a bath to feel better, but it wasn’t enough to abate her emotions if the tears still lining her eyes were anything to go by.
Rowan’s chest hurt, his face crumpling in pain at the sight of her. “I am so, so sorry, Aelin,” Rowan apologized as he looked deeply into her sorrowful eyes. “I hadn’t meant to react like that—like your touch had been so repulsive that I had to quickly get rid of it. But when you did touch me, I was reminded of how you’d touched Chaol earlier in the day, how you’d allowed yourself to be touched by him. I didn’t like watching you with him, let alone touching him.” Rowan took a step forward and some of his anxiety quelled at the insistence in her eyes for him to keep talking. “I was mad and I took it out on you. I’m sorry.”
Aelin seemed at a loss for words as she silently processed everything he’d said, her eyes analyzing his face as she searched for the sincerity of his words. Her head tilted slightly as if trying to further understand his words. “Why were you mad?”
Rowan subtly winced as rubbed the back of his neck, ducking his head and staring at the wooden floor. “Like I said, I don’t like Chaol,” Rowan explained.
“No, no. You said you didn’t like watching me with Chaol. You were jealous,” Aelin deadpanned.
“Mad or jealous, I don’t care. All I care about is you and the fact that I love you,” Rowan shouted as he threw his hands into the air.
Aelin’s breath hitched as she stared in shock at his sudden outburst. Her mouth opened and closed a couple of times before she gaped at him. “Wh-what did you just say?” Aelin sputtered.
“I had a dream, Aelin. I was woken up by a 2 or 3 year-old child and she was laying on my chest when you walked in. You told me that you had her wake me up by giggling and kissing my face because while I slept in, you and the kids woke up early to make breakfast. Our children were in that dream and you were pregnant with our fifth child.” Rowan ran a hand through his hair before he took the remaining steps between them and gently cupped her face as he looked into her eyes. “When I actually woke up, you were right there in my arms. I’d never been more peaceful and content than when you were in my arms. As you were laying there, I’d realized I wanted that dream to become reality. And, I wanted that with you. You’re it for me, baby. You’re my dream and my forever. I love you, Aelin. Please forgive me.” Rowan gently rested his forehead against hers as he wiped the tears streaming down Aelin’s face.
Aelin’s hands came up to grasp his elbows as Rowan leaned down and kissed her right cheek, his hands moving to tuck her hair behind her ears. His lips moved towards her other cheek, pressing another light kiss there before moving onto both of her eyelids. He continued placing light kisses onto her forehead, her nose, and her chin.
As Rowan got to her lips, he angled his head away from her face to stare into her eyes, seemingly asking for permission to continue his path. When Aelin reached her hands up and gently cradled his face as he slowly leaned in, Rowan threw all caution to the wind and finally pressed his lips on hers.
Kissing Aelin was better than anything Rowan had ever known. The soft and hesitant, yet determined and insistent press of her lips against his set his body on fire. Rowan felt like he was burning inside out, but he didn’t care because every second with this woman in his arms was worth burning to ashes.
Pulling away, Aelin looked into his eyes, placed her hands on his shoulders, and said, “I know.”
Rowan pulled back a bit, pressing another kiss to her lips before looking at her questioningly. “What do you mean you know?” Rowan gently rested his hands on her waist and pulled her closer to his body.
Aelin sighed, “I mean, I know that you love me. Don’t worry, I love you, too, Rowan.” Aelin leaned onto her toes to lightly kiss him on his lips. “Why do you think I’d devised all these plans to make you jealous anyway?” Aelin shrugged.
Thrown off guard, Rowan froze as he stared her down. “Plans to make me jealous? What are you talking about? How did you know?”
“All I have to say is that you need to learn how to control your alcohol intake. Getting a love confession from my best friend when he’s shitfaced drunk was not how I planned on learning about his undying love for me.” Aelin waved a hand, “Anyway, I had Chaol act like an obsessed lover so you would get riled up and finally make a move. He’s truly only a friend that’s visiting for the summer and he has a fiancée back in Adarlan; she's actually in on it too, so no need to worry. I’m not so sure if my plan was a good or a bad idea, considering the tumultuous outcome.” Aelin glanced up at him to gauge his reaction.
Rowan didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry. A sudden laugh erupted out of Rowan, startling both him and Aelin. “It was definitely a good plan if I’m able to be yours in the end,” Rowan muttered, leaning down to kiss Aelin.
Aelin pulled back and quirked a brow. “Who said you could be mine?” The question was paired with Aelin’s arms crossing over her chest. Rowan immediately paled.
“Well,” Rowan rubbed the back of his neck, “I assumed that since you reciprocated my feelings, you’d be my girlfriend now, but…” Rowan trailed off awkwardly.
“Did you ask yet?” Aelin inquired, a serious expression taking over her face.
Gripping Aelin’s hands in his, Rowan looked into her eyes as he asked, “Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, will you do me the honor of allowing me to become your boyfriend?”
Aelin pretended to be thinking for a few seconds, eliciting a pinch in the side from Rowan. Aelin grinned, a smile so beautiful, Rowan would be a fool to not smile back.
“Of course, Buzzard.”

“I know that I should let go, should be letting you go. Can’t postpone it, not anymore, when I know what I already know: What I need is silence. All I need is time and space and silence. Cut communication ‘cause I’m trying to learn that I can lose you and survive it.” —FLETCHER, Silence
JANUARY 1st
Even though the snow outside was falling rather heavily, Y/N left the window open, a bitter chill drafting through her bedroom and settling into every nook and cranny, which included the closet where she was currently sitting on the floor, a glass of wine in hand and pictures laid neatly across the wood.
As her eyes grazed over every scrap of paper, mostly polaroid photos and little hand-written notes he'd left her over the years, the constant ticking of the clock back in her bedroom wouldn't stop.
Realistically it was probably the wine, enhancing her ability to focus on nothing else except the most menial, annoying little things. But she was thoroughly (and maybe a little drunkenly) convinced it was actually Time itself, taunting her— every constant click of the clock screaming at her as if to say, "You! Fucked! Up! He! Hates! You! Now! You're! Pathetic!"
The happy memories scattered about in front of her certainly didn't help. His face kept staring back at her, each lovesick gaze spewing even harsher words than the clock. Just by seeing his face glinting back at her under the harsh white light of the closet, all she could hear in her head above the noise was that one single sentence that's haunted her since Christmas.
"You don't actually give a shit about me, Y/N, you only ever care about yourself, and it's been that way ever since I met you!"
No matter how greatly she professed to him that that wasn't true, he walked out on her all the same, not giving her a chance to explain further. Though, he always took the time to listen to her, so his words coupled with the slamming of the door landed her with the impression that maybe she'd only said it in her head.
After all, she was half drunk on tequila at the time, the other half of her mind swimming with sadness and regret.
Maybe she hadn't fought for him to stay like she thought... Or maybe at this point he was simply done trying to make it work, done with hearing her half-assed promises to get better at communicating, and done with her...
It bothered her immensely that she didn't know.
And when he wouldn't even pick up the phone to answer when she wanted to ask, when she texted him and each one went promptly ignored, she felt like the answer was finally clear.
Now it was New Year's Day, just about ten minutes past midnight after Y/N opened the window, poured herself a glass of wine, and started sorting through everything in the closet. She'd went in with the intention of starting anew, like practically everyone did during the New Year. Though the longer she sat there, sipping the wine and staring back at pictures and notes that only reminded her of the one good thing she'd ever known and inadvertently thrown away, the experience was less cleansing and more daunting.
Everything was loud.
The click of the clock, and the howling of the wind outside as it blew snowflakes around in a near-blizzard, and the constant screaming of every word she wished she'd said before he left...
It was all too much.
So Y/N downed the rest of her wine, threw all the pictures and notes back in their box, and shoved it deep in the back where the memories couldn't hurt her anymore, at least in theory.
But as she crawled into bed, the clock now sitting in the kitchen with no batteries, she was reminded that there was one form of memory that she couldn't shove in a closet and hide away.
She drifted off, the sharp chill from the winter wind still lingering on her skin even after the window had been shut and she'd bundled herself up under the covers.
Even in dreams, it transported her to the night before Christmas, when she walked with him across town, looking at all the lights and finding themselves underneath a large tree. He took her gloved hand and placed it firmly on his chest as she looked up at him, snowflakes sticking to her eyelashes. She admired how pretty he was surrounded by white snow and colorful lights, his cheeks and nose painted a soft pink from the cold.
"I love you, Y/N," he said with every intention of hearing her say it back.
But for some reason, she didn't. Instead, she leaned up and kissed him, hard, nearly knocking him to the ground. And even though she was happy and warm, it was the first time she thought she'd ever felt him not kiss her back with the same fervor.
That should have been her first clue that things were going to decline, but she was so caught up in the feel of his lips against hers, no matter how distant they were, that she couldn't really bring herself to care. After all, it was Christmas Eve, and nothing bad could ever happen to their relationship during the happiest time of the year...
But this was a dream, and now Y/N knew better. She stood there, watching the scene unfold in front of her, screaming for herself to say it back, to yell, "I love you too, Spencer!"
But again, this was a dream— No matter how loudly Y/N yelled at her former self, nothing would change what happened in the past.
She woke up the next morning, cold and alone, and surrounded in silence. Not even the soft clicking of the clock was there to keep her company.
But that's what she wanted in the first place, and if she was ever going to get through this—to move on with her life without him at her side—then she was going to have to get used to it.
And so her phone sat nicely on her bedside table as she grabbed a random selection of clothes and headed to the shower. Maybe the water would wash away some more of the major remnants of his being from her body. Maybe she finally wouldn't be able to feel the ghost of his hands roaming her skin and tangling in her hair...
It worked for almost the whole day, and then she laid back in bed that night, her hand dipped beneath her underwear and eyes closed tightly. She hadn't meant for him to creep into her mind, but it made sense that it would have happened eventually— When your relationship with someone was built almost solely on sex, it seemed inevitable.
No one else had made her feel the way he did... He took such care and precision with her body, drew out every possible second of pleasure until she was out of her mind, and in turn she showered him with praise and loud shouts of his name. Spencer... Spencer!
"Spencer!"
She opened her eyes, hand retreating from her body as quickly as possible as she tried to blink away his image. Her breathing steadied, though a long, exhausted sigh fell from her lips almost as easily as his name.
It obviously wasn't going to be easy, but damn it if she didn't want to give up already and find him the way she always did after a fight.
This wasn't just a fight, though. And as she laid in bed, her thumb hovering over his name in her phone, something stirred in her chest that signaled a bad idea. Not that bad ideas ever stopped her before... But now?
It didn't feel right.
Nothing about any of this felt right. And she didn't know what to do about it other than shutting the phone off and tossing it to the side, snapping her eyes shut and huffing like a child while she tried not to cry.
Plain and simple, heartbreak was brutal. Especially when you were the one to blame.
And that sentiment was the sharp twist of the knife in Y/N's gut, plaguing her as she willed herself to fall asleep.
“It’s like a crutch, see if you’re up. 4am but I like a rush, so I’ll go into your bed, my safety net. Cheaper than a therapy vent, yeah, I know...”

Happily ever after | N.Bastian
Tumblr media
summary: after all, weddings are for love.
-
“I don’t understand you sometimes!”
“What’s not to understand Nate?! I drop everything for you all the time and you just don’t care-“
“I care!”
“No you don’t! I dropped everything for you when you were drafted to Seattle, I left my job and sold my apartment to follow you and I put up you you being absolutely miserable every single day because of it and when they dropped you and Jersey wanted you back I done it all again now I was back in Jersey without my home and job!”
A weight lifted off your shoulders, finally speaking your heart. Nate shifted awkwardly infront of you.
“Glad you got that off your chest” he grumbled, angrily “you’re not the only one who sacrificed stuff you know?”
You laughed humourlessly “what could you have possibly had to give up?”
It was like he was searching for something to say “I missed out on like everything it was to be a rookie because I was tied down to, to you!”
Your eyes went wide and Nate bit his lip, regretting how he’d said it.
“You ‘missed out’?” You put air quotes around your words and quirked your eyebrow
Nate gulped
“On what exactly? The drinking and partying? The hooking up every other night? Every Sunday I came over here Mikey had a new girl in his bed! Is that what you want?”
“What? No-“
“That’s what you said! You just said that Nate!” You waves your hands around with no reason, just feeling frustrated.
“You know that’s not what I meant!”
“That’s what you said!” You screamed, as if raising your volume would get the point across better.
He ran a hand over his face and sighed “God would you stop being such a bitch-“
Nope.
The sound of your palm meeting the side of Nate’s face sounded through his apartment. He grabbed his cheek which was turning red now while you stumbled back, tears in your eyes and gasped.
“Don’t you dare, don’t you dare call me names!” He reached out for you, to console you but you pulled away “No, No don’t! Don’t touch me! God, I can’t even look at you”
“Babe, please just listen I didn’t- woah what are you doing?” He rushed, watching as you picked up your coat and bag.
“I’m leaving, I’m going home”
“Please don’t leave! C’mon I’m about to leave on a two week long road trip let’s not do this”
You looked at him, breaking his heart as he took in your red nose and tear stained cheeks while you sniffled
“I can’t Nate”
When the door shut he stood in the silence wondering
what the fuck just happened?
When he woke up the next morning he had hoped you were there, you weren’t. You hadn’t answered any of his calls and texts.
The devils were about to leave for a two week road trip and he didn’t want to leave this on a bad note but he had no time before the flight was due to leave.
Before take off you received a text
nater 🤍:
i love you and I’m so sorry. please just call me, I wanna hear your voice.
You read the text, like all the others but never replied. Instead simply throwing your phone away to sit and sulk.
Day four of the trip and he still hadn’t heard from you. The first sign of life was when Jack’s girlfriend posted a photo on her instagram stories of a bunch of denim jackets with the boys names and numbers on the back for the wags annual brunch.
He spotted his own name on a jacket, heart content to know you were there. However a couple of hours later he saw another story post of the same brunch and could see that same table with one jacket lay on it, the number fourteen standing out to him clearly.
It had started taking a toll on his play around Vegas. Nico spoke to him but was shut down quickly as Nate insisted there was nothing wrong and that he was sorry. Nico didn’t care about his play, he was worried about his friend.
A week into the trip you visited Nate’s apartment with a cardboard box in hand. Packing up everything you wanted to take with you. At some point you’d gotten so emotional you sat down on the couch to breath and turned the tv on.
It flickered to the last channel it was on, hockey. You watched the screen as it panned across the devils and the canucks. You watched as the screen showed Nate, holding his chain in hand and kissing the pendant that hung on it - your pendant.
“Oh Nathan…” you sighed, biting your lip and turning the TV off.
When the road trip ended Nate couldn’t wait to get home and see you, try to resolve this clear issue.
Opening the door, he immediately felt off. His eyes darted around the room trying to figure out what was different.
Your favourite blanket that hung over the couch was gone.
Your shoes weren’t littering the floor next to the front door.
You weren’t there.
Nate scrambled for his phone, calling you and texting you to be hit with the voicemail.
37 voicemails.
146 text messages.
27 instagram DM’s.
6 twitter DM’s.
1 email.
You never replied.
It wasn’t until a few days later you called him when you knew he’d be at practice unable to see his phone so you could leave a message.
When Nate returned to the locker room and saw his missed call he cursed, rushing to listen to the voicemail.
“hey nate, I know it was shitty to ghost you like that but I feel like if I didn’t do it this way I would make it worse for everyone. I feel like we need time apart, you made it clear that being in this relationship made you miss out on things so I want to give you the chance to explore that lifestyle! I’ll always be your biggest fan, from Canada to Jersey I’ve got you but I think I just gotta have you from afar for a little while”
Nate looked at his phone for a moment before he threw the phone onto the floor and stood on it repeatedly. Completely unaware everyone was watching the scene he was causing.
It was Mikey’s hands on his shoulders that snapped him out of his bubble “C’mon man, let’s go some-“
“She left me”
“Okay, Nate come on buddy not here”
He looked up at his best friend and let out a soft, shaky breath before he shoved his head on his shoulder and began to sob.
“You’re alright, it’s alright”
The pounding on your front door that night startled you, leaving your desk to answer the clearly urgent guest.
The door wasn’t even open enough to see you before you heard “What the fuck is going on?!”
“Hi Madison, come in, lovely to see you” you joked, rolling your eyes as she barged into your apartment.
“Nate is on my couch right now crying, what is going on? More importantly are you ok?” She asked, eyes fluttering over you to check.
You smiled softly “I’m okay mads, I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you I just - my head has been fried”
Her eyes softened “hey listen, I’m here for you okay? I just don’t understand what’s going on? Mikey brought him home and we are both as clueless as each other”
“I broke up with him”
“You What? This is a joke right?”
“Mads i feel bad enough please don’t make me feel worse” you groaned.
She stood there looking at you “I don’t get it, you’re Nate and Y/N. You don’t break up”
“Yeah well…” You trialled off.
You went into all the details. Explaining the cause of the fight and all the things he said to you amidst it all.
By the end you were both in tears and when Madison hugged you, you felt relaxed for the first time in a long time
“We love You, so much! and we support you always-“
“But Mikey-“
“But Mikey nothing, you are our friend too and it’ll take some getting used to but we support our friends”
When Madison returned home that night she didn’t speak to either of the boys. Clearly seeing how much Nate was hurting right now that being angry at him wasn’t an option.
Nate returned home, to an empty house on day three.
Nate downloaded tinder and bumble. He let his friends set him up. Nothing was working. He hated this.
The next time he saw you was New Year’s Day. Madison had asked for you to come along to the game with her as the Devils were playing the Oilers and her future in-laws would be present.
You’d been friends with Mikey since high school and his parents always enjoyed seeing you.
Michael obviously hadn’t passed on your news.
“We’re super excited for the wedding! And you must be too sweetheart, oh you and Nathan will be next huh?”
Your face went red and you stuttered until Madison replied “actually, Judy. Nate and Y/N broke up in September”
She looked shocked “Oh no, sweetheart I’m so sorry I didn’t know!” Pulling you into a hug to console you.
The hug was showcased on the jumbotron, Nathan watched from the bench, his heart in his throat.
After the game the Mcleod’s were gathered together with you chatting away and Nate overheard Judy speaking as he passed.
“Oh now you’re single maybe we can finally set you up with Ryan, he’s a bit hopeless with romance”
You laughed, making a comment about “Poor Ry”
Nate about-turned bumping into his teammate behind him and poking a finger into his chest before grumbling “If your brother puts his hands near my girl, tell him he’s a fucking dead man”
You did not go out with Ryan. Mikey made sure of that as in his words “I like Ryan, he’s not my favourite brother but he buys me good birthday gifts”
January passed and the rest of the months ran quick.
You were helping Madison out with wedding stuff, constantly flying back to Canada to visit the venue, speak to catering, order flowers. You name it.
The devils never made it to play offs.
You watched them the night they failed to qualify.
You wrote out a text to Nate
i’m sorry. you deserved that one.
You didn’t send it.
The wedding planning soon started coming into play. Bachelorette parties and Bachelor weekends commenced before the big day.
You spent the week before trying to fix everything to be perfect for their big day.
The Friday night was everyone flying into town. You couldn’t be there to pick people up as your own flight out of Newark had been delayed but the team pulled through with Nico and Jack taking point as welcome committee.
Your new flight landed hours later, while everyone was supposed to be at dinner. You texted Jack to ensure someone could pick you up and he told you he had it it sorted.
You wanted to kill him when you exited the airport and you saw Nate’s Old Ford truck waiting for you in the loading zone.
He was leaned up against it, rushing forward for your bags when he saw you
“I thought Jack was picking me up”
“He ran outta fuel and I had a full tank so he sent me”
Your sighed “Well alright then”
The ride back to the hotel was quiet and awkward. Nobody tried to make small talk.
When you arrived at dinner you swiftly knocked Jack’s head and said “Never do that again”
Saturday was the rehearsal dinner and you weren’t feeling so great.
You had put on the dress and headed across to the venue. You did your due diligence and welcomed in both Madison’s and Michael’s families.
Mikey was mingling with people but didn’t miss how his best friends stare hardened when Ryan walked up to you and hugged you hello.
“Please don’t murder my brother this is my wedding after all”
Nate took a drink and grumbled “I make no promises but I’ll at least hold off until after his speech” continuing to watch your interaction.
Mikey laughed and walked off with a “Thanks bud”
Nate kept an eye on you all night long, feeling something was off.
You didn’t look right.
After everyone was sat for the meal and speeches had been done you wandered off to the bathroom and hadn’t returned for quite a while.
A break in the meal service gave Nate the opportunity to slip away to find you.
He found the ladies bathroom, he knocked and said
“Y/N, you in there?”
“Yeah, I’m here. What’s up?” You croaked. Nate frowned before saying “I’m coming in”
“Nate, no-“ it was too late, he’d already made his way into the bathroom to find you on the floor hunched over the toilet.
He walked over, pulling his suit jacket off and draped it over your shoulder and then pulling your hair back into a makeshift ponytail to the best of his ability.
“You don’t have to-“ “Just hush, I’m here”
You were silent but grateful, continuing to spew for the next twenty minutes.
“I think I just ate bad chicken on the plane” you mumbled, defeated and laying against the tile wall.
“Let’s get you to bed” he decided, pulling you up from the wall. Your body, weakened, fell into him and you groaned
“But the dinner-“ “can be done without you come on”
He slipped the two of you out the back door and called a cab back to the hotel. For a moment you forgot your situation, opting to think this was all normal.
When Nathan took you up to your room and helped you get ready for bed, all normal.
You knew you shouldn’t have but when Nathan tried to leave you cried out “Please stay, I can’t be alone like this”
It didn’t take an awful lot of convincing, Nate knew you and he knew you were right. You never really got sick but when you did you always needed help.
He stayed.
He stayed all night while you slept, his fingers tangled in your hair scratching lightly at your scalp to soothe you.
At five that next morning he left you in order to return to his room and get ready for the wedding.
When you woke up, slightly confused you found a note on the pillow next to you.
morning, I had to go get mikey up. hope you’re feeling better, I’m sure you’ll look beautiful today. advil and water on the nightstand <3
You smiled lightly, looking over to see a plastic water bottle and the aforementioned pills waiting for you.
You picked up your phone from the other side, a few texts from people checking you were ok was all along with a message in the bridesmaid group chat about getting ready together.
“She’s alive!” Was yelled when you entered the room.
You smiled “Yes, yes I’m here I had food poisoning”
“Nate took care of you though, that was sweet” one of the other bridesmaids said, curling her hair and looking at you in the mirror.
You nodded, picking up a champagne glass from the table “Yeah, he left to go get Mikey up this morning-“
“Wait, wait, wait!” Madison yelled “He stayed over?!”
Yeah nodded sheepishly “Uh yeah, I guess I asked him too when I was tired I think I was just used to him helping me out when I’m sick”
Madison gave you a look bud you didn’t press it further, after all it was her wedding day.
The ceremony didn’t last long, Madison had always said she didn’t want people being bored and just wanted to party.
You’d found your space at the head table, right next to Ryan and you couldn’t help but think his mom had something to do with the table plans.
You were talking after dinner with Ryan about Edmonton and everything going on in his life when you felt a pair of hands on your shoulders.
You turned to see Nate smiling down at you “Hey Ry, mind if I steal her for a bit?”
Ryan smiled “Nah man, she’s all yours. I’ll see you in a bit y/n”
You smiled back before pushing the chair out and grabbing Nate’s hand to be directed onto the dance floor.
You didn’t speak for the first few minutes, just basking in each other’s company until you said “Hey thanks for last night you didn’t have to do that”
“I couldn’t leave you to fend for yourself”
“I’m not your problem anymore Nate”
“Not by my choice” he noted and you huffed “Nathan-“
“No, please just hear me out because I’ve been waiting for the right time to speak to you and I mean what are weddings for if not love, eh? Whatever that stupid fight we had was about was not worth loosing you over. I hate myself for that and the things I said because I love you so freaking much and I was so stupid for allowing myself to loose you. When you left me I was broken”
You sighed, looking up at him for any sign of a lie.
There was none “Nate… I miss you too but you know it’s not that easy to just get back together”
“I know, I just needed you to know how I felt” he nodded.
“Well Thank you, i appreciate it. Maybe we can talk again whenever we’re back home in jersey?”
“I like the sound of that”
You nodded, Nate twirling you out in the dance and when he pulled you back in he said “You do look beautiful tonight I guess I predicted that right”
Back in Jersey come the fall it had been a while since that night at the McLeod wedding.
The devils home opener was packed with fans.
You were sat with a beer in hand, looking out on the ice at the red jersey’s looking at all the new names around.
Your thoughts were broken when you felt something drape over your shoulders, turning you saw Madison alongside other girlfriends and wives all smiling at you.
“Hey!”
“Hey sweetheart we didn’t think we’d see you here, we saw you from the box” Madison points up to the ‘wags’ box.
You blush “Yeah, i uh haven’t been up there in a while”
“Well we thought you might want this back, a little birdy told me you might need it” you pulled the jacket draped over your shoulders off and looked at it.
The black denim jacket displayed the number fourteen alongside Bastian so nicely.
You smiled “That little birdy would be correct” you answered and the girls all cheered.
“Ugh, finally they’re back together! We’re so happy for you”
“Thank you guys honestly, it’s been a massive journey but we’re here now!”
Come the end of the night the boys were on a winning high and Nate didn’t think it could get better than this. That was until he came out of the locker room to find you with your back turned to him he saw the name and number on your jacket.
He groaned “Oh god I forgot what a beautiful sight this was” slipping behind you, arms travelling around your front to land on your abdomen and kissing the side of your head.
You leaned into him “You like it?”
“Like it? I love It” he announced, leaning in closer to your ear to whisper “I’d like it better on our floor though”
You straightened up “Oh we’ve gotta go guys! We’ve got stuff to do. See you all next week!”
You were halfway out the door when someone shouted
“they really never changed!”

Winter Storm
Jared Padalecki x Reader
Summary: You play Cordell Walker’s daughter on the new show Walker. Jared takes you under his wing. What happens when a winter storm hits all of Texas.
Warnings: Mentions of a rough upbringing, Texas winter storm, power outage, water problems, some angst, scary weather, fluff, protective Jared, maybe a cuss word somewhere
A/N: As a Texan, this past week has been scary. I have been extremely blessed to not have the problems that a lot are. I was lucky and did not lose power and did not have any pipes burst. This idea came to me after seeing that Jared and Gen were helping others while dealing with their own problems at their house.

Winter weather will be hitting Texas this weekend. You can expect lots of snow and ice. It is best to prepare for possible power outages and water being turned off. That is worst case scenario, but be prepared as Sunday will be a cold one.
You panicked. Growing up in North Texas you never had to deal with severe winter weather. You were used to dealing with tornados. But the way they were talking on the news, this weekend was going to be bad.
Thankfully you had the day off and were able to go to the store. You grabbed a case of water and food that you could prepare and food that didn’t have to be cooked to eat. You were still getting used to the adult life as an 18 year old, but since you had been taking care of yourself the last few years, you learned a thing or two in the kitchen. You made sure to grab some snacks as well since they didn’t have to be cooked or stored in the fridge either.
As you pulled up to your apartment building, you got a call from the lead and producer of the show you were on. You still weren’t sure how you managed to land the role of Stella in the new show Walker, but you were grateful. You put the car in park and grabbed your phone.
“Hey Jare.” You said. Jared was the older brother you always wanted, even though he plays your dad and he has moments where he acts like your dad. You didn’t have a great life growing up and to have a male figure in your life to help you in anyway, made you happy. Same thing with Gen.
“Hey Y/N/N. How’re you doing?” He asked.
“I’m doing good. Just got back from the store. Am I needed on set?” You asked in a panic thinking you missed something.
“No, no you’re not needed. Just wanted to call and tell you we are not filming Monday or Tuesday next week. And depending on the weather and roads, we may cancel Wednesday as well.” He informed you.
“Oh. Is it because of the storm?” You asked.
“Yeah. We aren’t sure how bad it’ll be, but we are hoping we are just being over cautious.” He said. “You said you went to the store?”
“Yeah. I just wanted to get something’s so I won’t have to get out. And I got some stuff. I won’t need to cook in case we lose power. Also filled up with gas in case I lose heat and need to warm up some.” You told him.
“Come stay with us. We have plenty of room and we have a fireplace. We just restocked our firewood supply. I don’t want to be worrying about you all weekend.” He said.
“I’ll be okay. Really. Thank you for the offer though.” You said nicely. You really did mean it. You were used to taking care of yourself that when people did want to help you, you appreciated them.
“Well. I have my truck if I need to come get you. If you change your mind, come over. The kids would love to see you.” He said. You heard Gen agree with him in the background. “And Gen would too.”
“Well after the storm, I’ll come over for dinner to see everyone. And I’ll even come another night to babysit so you and Gen can go on a date.” You said with a laugh once you heard Gen immediately laugh.
“Gen says you don’t have to, but I will take you up on both offers.” Jared told you. “Okay. Well stay in touch. They say it’ll start sometime tomorrow night.”
“Y’all stay safe and stay in touch too.” You said. “Bye Jare.”
“Bye Y/N/N.” He said before hanging up. You put your phone back into your pocket before lugging all of the groceries into your apartment. You put everything away before going to change out of your winter clothes.
After changing into some PJs to be comfortable. You decided to meal prep some so you wouldn’t have to worry about it later. And if the weather isn’t as bad as they think it’ll be, you can just eat them throughout the week.
Sunday morning, you woke up and looked outside. All you could see was white fluffiness. You smiled as the world looked at peace. You loved snow. You always thought it brought beauty to the world.
When you walked back to your phone where it laid on its charger, you saw a couple of texts from Jared and Gen. Both had sent you photos of Tom, Shep, and Odette playing the in the snow. Then you saw Jared’s text about possible rolling power outages.
You picked up the phone and called Jared and before he could even say hello, you asked, “What does that mean? Your text... I don’t understand it.”
“It means they’ll shut the power off for an hour to three hours to preserve energy.” Jared said.
“Oh.” You said.
“Yeah, so if the power goes out, don’t worry, it should come back on.” He reassured you.
“Okay. Thank you for letting me know.” You replied.
“Of course. How are you doing anyways?” He asked.
“Good. Just woke up. Felt good to sleep in. I’m probably about to start warming up my lunch.” You informed him. “How are y’all handling it over there? I saw the pics you and Gen sent. The kids look like they’re having a blast.”
“We’re doing good. The kids are definitely loving the snow. I did have to help Gen gather the chickens this morning which wasn’t fun.” He said with a laugh.
“Oh gosh. Yeah chasing chickens isn’t fun. Are they okay? I didn’t even think about y’all’s animals?”
“They’re all in the barn with heat lamps. Thankfully the barn is powered by solar so we don’t have to worry too much if the power goes out since we have a lot of energy stored up.” He said.
“Good that’s good. Well I’ll let you get back to doing whatever you were doing. Thanks again for letting me know.”
“Anytime. If you need something, holler. Okay?” He asked.
“I will. Bye.” You said. You heard his farewell as you went to hang up the phone. After preheating the oven, you took the lasagna and boxed garlic bread out of the freezer. You figured, while the power was still on, you could cook the one meal you prepped that couldn’t be eaten cold until you cooked it and it was leftovers.
An hour later, you sat at the counter charging your phone and iPad while you ate. When you went to take another bite, the power cut off.
“Great.” You whispered. You knew it was only going to be for a few hours, but you were a little aggravated by the inconvenience. You stood up and went and put on thicker sweatpants and your socks. When you made it back to your phone to text Jared that your power went out, you saw you barely had any service. That concerned you in case you needed to make a call for an emergency.
Power just went out. Hopefully y’all didn’t lose power. I’ll let you know when it’s back on. Sent 1:23 pm
You continued to eat as you awaited a response. Shrugging when you finished your meal and put the dirty dish in the sink, you moved to the living room to read a book you started the night before.
Hours later, you still had no power and you still hadn’t heard from Jared or Gen. You had checked social media, but neither had posted anything. You decided to scroll through Twitter and saw the horrors of people’s pipes bursting and roofs caving in flooding their homes.
Seeing people in Austin posting that, you decided to grab a tote to store your valuables in. Sadly, it wasn’t a lot, but the idea of losing what little you had that meant something to you scared you.
You needed to go to your car to charge your phone and warm up some, so you decided to store your valuables in the trunk. Thankfully you had a covered parking space that was right in front of your apartment. When you put the tote in the trunk, you checked to make sure the tail pipe was clear of snow before you started the car.
After spending an hour in the car, you decided it was time for bed. Grabbing every piece of blankets you had, you cuddled up in Jared’s hoody that you stole from him when you filmed episode 2 of Walker and all the blankets. You even had on two pairs of socks on since you got cold earlier.
The next morning, you checked to see your phone still had more than half its battery life left. But what shocked you was still no response from Jared. You got on Instagram and saw that Gen had posted a boomerang of him with his socks on as gloves, but neither had checked in with you.
You were kind of upset by this. You knew they didn’t owe you anything, but it still hurt. Going to the kitchen, you saw it was flooded.
“Oh no. Oh no. Nonononono.” You panicked. You ran to the bathroom and grabbed all the towels you owned and rushed back to the kitchen. You threw them down to try and absorb as much water as possible. You opened the cabinet and saw the pipe that had burst. You grabbed your phone and called the landlord.
“Hey Craig. I had a pipe burst this morning.” You said when he answered.
“Can’t do much with the weather like this.” He said not really caring.
“Can you turn the water off or something? Or tell me where it is and I’ll do it.” You said getting angry.
“Can’t do that either. If I do that, your neighbors lose their water too.” He said.
“Well what am I supposed to do. Just sit in water all day?” You asked with an annoyed tone.
“City’s running out of water anyway so they may shut it off. So won’t be long before it stops.” He said. You got so mad that you hung up. He was useless.
After 3 hours, all of your towels were soaked and you started using some of your clothes to help absorb what the towels couldn’t. You had tried calling Jared to see if he knew what to do but it went straight to voicemail. Same with Gen.
After using most of your clothes to stop the water, you decided to pack a bag in case you had to leave. Plus it would let you know what you could use to absorb the water that still remains. Thankfully your landlord had turned the water off after multiple people called about pipes bursting. All you had to do was finish cleaning up the mess.
Two days later, you were sitting in your car, about to go back into your apartment when you got a call from Gen.
“Y/N. Oh my gosh it’s so good to hear from you. We haven’t had service, plus we lost power and had a few pipes burst. Are you okay?” She asked worriedly.
“I’m okay. Sitting in my car right now so I could charge my phone and warm up a bit.” You told her.
“You don’t have power still?” She asked.
“Nope. And I also had a pipe burst. But I cleaned it up and nothing was damaged. Did you have any damage done? Is everyone okay?” You asked concerned.
“Yeah. We are fine. And just minimal floor damage.” She told you. “Jared is cleaning that mess up while I’m going to the store. Do you need anything? We have some of our neighbors over trying to stay warm and I’m grabbing them stuff too. So I don’t mind getting you anything.”
“I’m okay. I have plenty.” You said. You wanted heat. You wanted to sleep without having to wear five layers, but you refused to ask.
“Well if you do need something, text or call. Hopefully we get service back.” She said.
“I will. Thanks Gen.” you said as you hung up. Ten minutes later you got a call from Jared.
“Pack a bag and bring some blankets.” He said before you could even greet him.
“What?” You asked genuinely confused.
“I said, pack a bag and bring some blankets. Also if you want to bring any food you don’t want to go to waste or if you have water, bring that too. I’ll come in and help you carry.” He said.
“Wh-wait.. what is happening?” You asked.
“I’m coming to get you and you are going to stay with us for a couple of days. I just got off the phone with Gen and she said you had a pipe burst and you don’t have heat. So you are going to come stay with us until your power is back on and the pipe is fixed.” He said. “I’m pulling up. I’ll be inside in a second.” He hung up before you could say anything.
You went and unlocked the door before moving to your room. You grabbed your big suitcase and packed what few pair of pants you had, a weeks worth of underwear, two weeks worth of socks since you hated having cold feet, and the remaining three sweaters and seven shirts you had. It barely filled your suitcase so you decided to throw in a couple of hoodies as well.
“That all your packing?” Jared asked concerned. No one knew how long this was going to last.
“It’s all I got clean.” You answered honestly.
“No way.” He said in disbelief. You shrugged and told him to follow you as you walked into the kitchen. He saw the pile of clothes and towels on the ground. “Oh Y/N. I’m sorry this happened to you.”
“Happened to you too.” You said before moving back to your room. You grabbed a blanket and started to fold it, starting a pile you were taking with you to the Padalecki’s. Once you finished that, you grabbed your pillow too.
“Want any books or anything? You have room in your suitcase.” Jared said as he pointed to it. You shrugged and grabbed a few books you had been wanting to read. After throwing them into the suitcase, you ran to the living room to grab your iPad and chargers.
“We can charge them in the cars if we need to.” Jared said when you thought about not putting them in your bag. You nodded before throwing them in and zipping it up. “This ready to go to the truck?” You nodded once again before he grabbed the suitcase handle and stack of blankets and your pillow with ease. “Go figure out food and I’ll come back to help.”
Once in the kitchen, you grabbed the full water case you had bought a few days before and the almost empty one that you had already opened. You then moved to the fridge to grab the few casserole dishes you had left to eat. You grabbed your travel food carrier and put the casseroles in first before the almost empty case of water in after it. You saw Jared walking back in and asked,
“Is there any food of mine you want? I’ve got everything packed that will definitely go bad before I get back. The rest has already gone bad.” You said while looking at Jared who was looking through your cabinets. He found your snack one and grabbed a few things and shoved them in your carrier.
“That’s all I want.” He smirked. “Ready to go? We can come back in a couple of days if we need to.”
“Ready.” You walked to his truck and he helped you load the water and carrier. As you got into the passenger seat and started to buckle, you said, “thanks for coming to get me and letting me stay with you.”
“Anything for family.” He said smiling at you before driving carefully back to his house.
“But we aren’t family?” You said more as a question.
“You’re my tv daughter, so technically we are.” He said with a laugh. “But in all seriousness, I do see you as family. Me and you have gotten close over these past few months. I can see you as a daughter and I can see you as a little sister.” You could hear the sincerity in his voice.
“Really?” You asked. He nodded his head. “It means a lot to hear you say that. I see you as a big brother.”
“Good.” You saw him smile. “That means you can ask me for anything or do anything and I’ll be there for you. Sorry I didn’t come get you sooner. I thought about it.”
“It’s okay. I tried calling but could never get through. It happens. I’m just glad nothing more serious happened. I’m glad we are all safe.” You said honestly.
“And we are about to get you warm. We have the fire going in the living room and in mine and Gen’s room. Kids have been sleeping with us or on the floor in our room. You’re welcome to make a pallet in front of the fire and crash there.” He said as he pulled into his driveway.
“Sleeping in front of a warm fire sounds lovely right now. Thank you.” You leaned over and gave him a big hug. “I love you Jare.” You said before pulling back to kiss his cheek.
“Love you too y/n/n.” He smiled at you. “Now let’s go take all this in and get you warmed up.”

Ronan Lynch, post-its and missing Adam Parrish:
Ronan knew he wasn't asking Adam to stay, he would never ask him to stay in the one place he always wanted to leave.
Ronan just wanted him to come back.
"Lynch?" "You're going" "yeah, I am. I'll be back for Thanksgiving tho" "how will you manage?" "Don't I always manage?"
Ronan huffed in response as he was folding one of Adam's shirts. Adam was leaving for Harvard tomorrow. It had been a couple of months since Adam had moved in. His lease on St. Agnes was up and Ronan didn't have to think twice about asking.
It had ended up in a fight and Adam snapping at Ronan. Ronan fought back too. In the end he had just stormed of Adam's room and driven for hours and come back around midnight to find Adam silently crying on his bed.
He had held Adam, let him cry because Adam Parrish rarely let his walls down, be vulnerable in front of anyone else.
"okay" "okay what, Parrish?" "I'll stay with you" "finally"
Adam laughed in his chest as they both fell asleep in each other's arms on Adam's shitty mattress.
"Ronan?"
Adam's voice brought him back to his sense. He realised his cheeks were wet and he was gripping Adam's shirt a little too tightly. Adam sat in front of him.
"what's wrong?" "You're going" "yes, you said that" "please come back" He kept saying it on loop, to Adam, until his voice cracked and his throat hurt.
Was it possible to already miss the person who was currently sitting in front of you?
"don't be stupid Lynch. Of course I'm coming back" "I didn't meant for Thanksgiving" "my answer will not change"
Adam ran his fingers over his eyebrows, and kissed him. He memorised every second of it. Of Adam's not so chapped fingers on his jaw, his chapped and warm lips, his breath tingling on Ronan's kiss.
"tamquam" "alter idem"
When he dreamt that night, he dreamt of Adam and Cabeswater and how just like that, Adam had given his eyes and hands to the magical forest.
When he woke up, there was a small snowglobe in his hands, a little Cabeswater sitting inside it and a charcoal BMW nestled between. He sneaked it into one of Adam's bags.
The next morning, Ronan watched Adam drive off, in the shitty Hondayota until he disappeared. Opal was sobbing in his leg and he picked her up and she hid her face in the crook of his neck.
He shut the door behind him and carried Opal upstairs and put her down on Declan's bed as she had slept off due to crying. He found a post-it stuck beside the bed, on the wall.
"tell her I miss her" was written in Adam's handwriting.
There was the ache. The ache called love.
He plucked the note off and put in his jeans' pocket and left. He had to make lunch now. He found more sticky notes in the kitchen.
"pink lid is the salt, green is the sugar"
"don't mix the spoons and the forks"
"don't overcook your pasta"
"eat on time, send me pictures"
"I'll miss your pancakes"
"I'll miss how you tasted of blueberries and mint toothpaste"
"I'll miss you seeing in your cute little apron"
He plucked each and every one of them, fondly muttering curses to himself as he carefully folded them and tucked them into his pocket. He called Adam.
"thanks for the notes, mom" "sorry if I don't want a salty coffee" "that happened twice, asshole" "thank god third time wasn't a charm" "I hate you" "I miss you" "me too"
He rambled on about random things as Adam heard and supplied his responses or just chuckled in response. He hung up because he didn't want to distract him any longer.
He made pasta for lunch and didn't overcook it. He sent a picture to Adam. Even if he hated to use the phone, he was glad he had one so he could send Adam texts and photos.
He ate sitting alone on the dinner table, some song playing on his phone. He missed Adam, there was no doubt about it.
He just didn't know he missed Adam this much.
How empty suddenly the house felt, how it felt like he was an intruder again, like how he used to sneak in. He kept finding Adam's notes everywhere.
He found one stuck to the lamp beside the couch as he was flipping through some book Adam had found interesting.
"don't fall asleep on the couch"
He rolled his eyes. Oh how well his boyfriend knew him. The book surprisingly was interesting. It was some historical book that Gansey had probably given to Adam.
It talked about the history of food and farming and crops and things. Adam had been reading it for him, he supposed. He kept finding more notes as he kept reading.
"My farmer boyfriend, I knew you'd read it"
"who's a nerd now, Lynch?"
"we should go wine making in France one day"
"you'd be a good farmer, a sexy farmer"
"will my classmates believe I'm dating a farmer"
"I'm so glad to have you"
Ronan didn't tear up, nope. He didn't find his eyes glassy and his lip trembling. Adam called him a few hours later.
"hey Lynch. I reached" "you and your fucking books Parrish" "did you like it?" "It was interesting. Anyway, how's Cambridge?" "Too fancy" "you'll survive, Harvard boy" "I have to survive so I can live with you"
Ronan was silent for a whole sixty seconds before he found his bearings again. He almost picked up the keys and started driving to Cambridge.
"yeah" "are you okay? Where's Opal and chainsaw?" "Opal cried herself to sleep and Chainsaw disappeared in the morning, still flying outside" "mhmmm. I- I miss you. Too much. I didn't think I'd miss you and Opal and home this much but I do and it sucks already" "me too Parrish. It just feels so empty here" "skype me twice a day okay? Please" "of course Parrish, I need to your face everyday in case I forget how pretty you are" "shut up"
There was beauty and power in making Adam Parrish smile and better, blush. Ronan was powerful enough.
Adam told him about Cambridge and his dorm room and complained about how fancy it was and grumbled about money and finding jobs.
"I swear to god Parrish, if I find out you're working unnecessarily again I will come to Cambridge and kidnap you and lock you here in our bedroom forever" "sure you will" "want to try me?" "NO"
Ronan laughed. Adam did too. He felt something settle in his chest. They stayed silent on the call, not talking as Ronan heard Adam's breathing through the phone.
"I'll skype you tonight?" "Yeah, pretty sure the brat will want to see you" "you don't?" "Don't be stupid"
Adam laughed before hanging up. Ronan found more post-its in his bedroom. They were literally everywhere. Everywhere.
"don't bring out a dead body" on Adam's side of the bed
"Thanks for the hand lotion, it smells like home" on the nightstand beside an empty bottle of hand lotion. Ronan dreamed him one that lasted probably forever.
"call me if you wake up at night, I mean it" on the headboard
"here's one of mine since I stole one of yours" on one of Adam's old hoodie on the bed.
"the first time I knew that for sure that I want this" on the window, stuck to the same toy.
"I wish I could steal more of your clothes" on the wardrobe door.
"shopping spree next time I'm home?" Inside the wardrobe.
"don't listen on high volume, not good for your ears" on his headphones.
"a little something from me" on a box. There was a knotted leather band inside, intricate and just like how Ronan liked. He immediately put it on on his wrist.
He found a few stuck together on the backside of the door.
"alter idem."
"I want this, for as long as you'll have me"
"I want this too much"
"I miss you, I'll miss you till I come back home"
"I'm a sap for you, Lynch"
"You're it for me"
"thanks for the straight teeth, again"
"come find me in your dreams, I'll find you in mine"
"don't do stupid shit"
"I love you, so much it hurts"
